- 1:30Speaker 6: Oh, rip.
- 1:32Speaker 4: More mail.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Dude, it's been, I tell you, a lot of mail
- 1:35Speaker 3: here recently.
- 1:35Speaker 7: Embarrassment of riches.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Actual mail.
- 1:38Speaker 3: People send letters and actual packages to.
- 1:41Speaker 4: The radio station.
- 1:42Speaker 5: This is to menace.
- 1:45Speaker 3: For Menace's birthday month. By the way, today is my
- 1:49Speaker 3: dog's birthday, Menace.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Happy birthday, Cassie. She's getting her steak.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I'm going to grill her steak tonight.
- 1:57Speaker 4: What is she, nine, eight? She's eight.
- 2:00Speaker 8: This is fancy. This is happy birthday, Menace. It comes
- 2:04Speaker 8: from Donna. And, yeah, I mean, he just handed me
- 2:08Speaker 8: a note, so that's all I have.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 2:11Speaker 9: That's all I know.
- 2:11Speaker 8: That note was attached to nothing else.
- 2:12Speaker 5: It says, happy birthday.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Have a great birthday month.
- 2:15Speaker 4: May it rock.
- 2:16Speaker 5: That's so sweet. That was attached to not one, but
- 2:18Speaker 5: two gift baskets, man. Two gift baskets. Okay, this is
- 2:22Speaker 5: the Donna that sent us the text messages.
- 2:24Speaker 7: Yes, she had a lot attached.
- 2:25Speaker 3: She was very concerned that this was going to make
- 2:27Speaker 3: it here.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Why is it open? He had to inspect it.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Had to get the note out of there. What do
- 2:35Speaker 4: you got in there? Chocolates.
- 2:36Speaker 8: We got peanuts.
- 2:39Speaker 5: We got cookies.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I see popcorn factory.
- 2:44Speaker 5: More chocolate. Oh, heck yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 8: Thank you, Donna.
- 2:47Speaker 5: This is very nice. And then Greg has a secondary
- 2:50Speaker 5: accessory basket that has fruits and stuff.
- 2:53Speaker 4: This is beautiful. It says, Hi, Greg.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Aww.
- 2:56Speaker 4: From Donna.
- 2:57Speaker 10: Oh, dude.
- 2:57Speaker 11: Donna.
- 2:57Speaker 8: Thank you, Donna.
- 2:58Speaker 4: And this has salami, artisan crackers, little Ghirardelli chocolate squares,
- 3:06Speaker 4: some cookies.
- 3:07Speaker 5: That's beautiful.
- 3:08Speaker 8: Looks like maybe caramels, some apples.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Nice. Tangerines.
- 3:13Speaker 12: Oh, nice.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Wow.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Donna. Hey.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Donna, thank you. But wait. There's one more thing. What?
- 3:21Speaker 5: Also from Donna?
- 3:22Speaker 4: No.
- 3:23Speaker 6: Oh.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Separately, just came out of.
- 3:25Speaker 6: Nowhere.
- 3:26Speaker 5: It's kind of a long one, so do you really
- 3:27Speaker 5: want Menace to read this?
- 3:29Speaker 9: No.
- 3:30Speaker 5: That's a huge page.
- 3:33Speaker 3: This is from Aaron at Fancy Fortune Cookies. Hawaii Woody
- 3:38Speaker 3: Show may be Menace's birthday month, but this year the
- 3:40Speaker 3: whole crew gets a little gift of good fortune. Each
- 3:43Speaker 3: cookie color represents one of you, and every fortune is unique.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Black for Bort, vanilla for Seabass, and so on. Except
- 3:52Speaker 3: for green, which is just random hodgepodge of nonsense. Hopefully
- 3:56Speaker 3: I didn't miss anyone. You guys have gotten better than ever,
- 3:59Speaker 3: and I can't thank you enough for being part of
- 4:01Speaker 3: my everyday life. The good, the bad, sometimes downright ugly.
- 4:04Speaker 3: You've made me laugh when I needed it most, kept
- 4:06Speaker 3: me company through countless days, provided a level of ridiculousness
- 4:09Speaker 3: that makes the whole world a little bit more bearable.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I hope these cookies bring you even a fraction of
- 4:15Speaker 3: the laughs you've given me over the years. Some fortunes
- 4:17Speaker 3: are sweet, some are snarky, and a few might hit
- 4:20Speaker 3: a little too close to home. Consider yourselves warned. Thank
- 4:24Speaker 3: you for being unapologetically yourselves, for keeping it real, and
- 4:27Speaker 3: for making my day something to look forward to. Happy
- 4:30Speaker 3: birthday month, Menace. And good fortune to the whole crew.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Imagine if Menace read that.
- 4:34Speaker 5: My question was, how are cookies going to make me laugh?
- 4:36Speaker 5: Because they have words inside. And yeah, it's like a
- 4:39Speaker 5: popcorn tin full of multicolored cookies.
- 4:41Speaker 10: Nice.
- 4:42Speaker 7: And were each assigned a color?
- 4:44Speaker 8: I think maybe that's kind of random.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I think maybe the ones that are green, I guess,
- 4:49Speaker 3: would be for you. You should stick to green. Whatever
- 4:51Speaker 3: one you pick, you probably stick to that color. What
- 4:55Speaker 3: is your say there, C.S.
- 4:56Speaker 5: New things happening. Great things in the mix. I just
- 4:59Speaker 5: can't share them. In bed.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Oh, there you go.
- 5:02Speaker 6: All right.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Your next why not will have consequences.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Oh.
- 5:06Speaker 9: Okay.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 4: All right.
- 5:07Speaker 5: I eat a fortune cookie, though.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Nice. Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 3: What is your say, Gina? Gina?
- 5:10Speaker 7: Mine says, your confidence will arrive several minutes before your facts.
- 5:16Speaker 3: All right. Menace, let's hear you read yours.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Mine says.
- 5:24Speaker 7: What?
- 5:24Speaker 9: Words.
- 5:25Speaker 3: And you wanted to read the letter.
- 5:26Speaker 5: These are actually custom printed for the show. This is awesome.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Look at that. That's so cool.
- 5:30Speaker 3: All right, well, thank you so much, Aaron. What a
- 5:32Speaker 3: show mail call, everybody.
- 5:33Speaker 7: Everybody's so nice.
- 5:34Speaker 5: All brought to you by a menace. Menace, when you
- 5:36Speaker 5: talk about runoff for your birthday month.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Everybody gets fortune cookies and gift baskets full of chocolates.
- 5:43Speaker 5: And sausage.
- 5:44Speaker 7: Summer's sausage.
- 5:55Speaker 3: And we'll start with the celebrities. Happy birthday to Snoop Dogg,
- 5:59Speaker 3: who is 55 years old today.
- 6:01Speaker 4: I thought he was older.
- 6:02Speaker 7: I did, too.
- 6:03Speaker 3: John Krasinski, Jim from The Office, is 47. Viggo Mortensen,
- 6:08Speaker 3: the actor from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is 68.
- 6:11Speaker 3: What a birthday he's going to have next year.
- 6:12Speaker 5: And rapper NBA Youngboy is 27.
- 6:15Speaker 4: I'm with you.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Well, because it's supposed to be never broke again, is it?
- 6:23Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Because that's what people think when they hear NBA.
- 6:25Speaker 9: Sure.
- 6:25Speaker 8: Yeah, that's what I think about.
- 6:27Speaker 5: I never met anybody in public who's ever a fan
- 6:28Speaker 5: of his, but he's out there. But okay.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Your porno birthday today is Alexis Tay.
- 6:34Speaker 4: T-A-E.
- 6:35Speaker 3: And today's birthday girl, she's been fingered more than a
- 6:37Speaker 3: pair of gloves. 748 fine films, including Toying with a
- 6:43Speaker 3: Horny Housewife. She was in Two Horny Sluts and One
- 6:46Speaker 3: Solid Polish Sausage. How about Hot Dong Eating Contest, Volume 1?
- 6:53Speaker 3: Two Sexy Cousins are Double Trouble. There you go, Seabass.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Now we're talking. Scissoring BFFs Orgasm Hard.
- 7:00Speaker 7: Aw, they're BFFs.
- 7:01Speaker 3: She was in Rammed by Her Realtor. Squirting Material, Volume 1.
- 7:06Speaker 6: Yuck.
- 7:07Speaker 3: And then who can forget her unforgettable role in Smiling
- 7:09Speaker 3: Through the Penal?
- 7:10Speaker 4: Oh, kidding!
- 7:12Speaker 5: By the way, that's hardcore. Put on your game face.
- 7:15Speaker 5: Her bio, Alexis Tay, Pittsburgh native, wanted to find a
- 7:19Speaker 5: new career in adult movies, so she looked up porn agents,
- 7:21Speaker 5: and it was just that easy. And there you go, her.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Yeah, she made it work.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Pittsburgh's own Alexis Tay is 29 years old today.
- 7:29Speaker 5: Way to go, girl.
- 7:29Speaker 3: And that is your porno birthday, your celebrity birthdays, here
- 7:33Speaker 3: on The Woody Show.
- 7:39Speaker 9: All right.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Let's check in with Greg Gorey. He's got the trending
- 7:44Speaker 3: news headlines.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Well, the parents of a five-year-old boy who got killed
- 7:47Speaker 4: in last week's school shooting in Bend, Oregon, have hired
- 7:49Speaker 4: some lawyers to investigate whether or not the school district
- 7:52Speaker 4: or maybe anybody else could be held responsible. That Silver
- 7:55Speaker 4: Rail elementary school shooting left three kids and a teacher dead,
- 7:59Speaker 4: two others injured. And now investigators are looking into how
- 8:02Speaker 4: this 16-year-old shooter got access to the shotgun that was
- 8:05Speaker 4: used in the attack. Because according to reports, his mom
- 8:08Speaker 4: bought that rifle, which could lead to criminal charges for
- 8:11Speaker 4: the mom. Oh, yeah. Now, there hasn't been an official
- 8:13Speaker 4: lawsuit filed yet. Lawyers say their immediate goal is just
- 8:16Speaker 4: to get answers and examine everything. And authorities haven't announced
- 8:20Speaker 4: any charges against the mom, at least not yet.
- 8:22Speaker 3: God, man, my wife and I were just talking about
- 8:24Speaker 3: this the other day because over the weekend we went shopping.
- 8:27Speaker 5: We were at Costco.
- 8:28Speaker 3: We bought the kids the Costco sized cinnamon toast crunch.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Lucky.
- 8:33Speaker 3: And then there was something, oh, my daughter's into those Alani.
- 8:36Speaker 5: Oh, those drinks.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Drinks, you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 3: And I saw them like, oh, I think she'd like these.
- 8:41Speaker 3: So I just grabbed her like just two cans of it. Like,
- 8:44Speaker 3: you know how rad we are? Compared to our parents,
- 8:47Speaker 3: we weren't allowed to have any of that stuff. I
- 8:48Speaker 3: can't imagine my mom ever buying me a gun.
- 8:52Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 8:53Speaker 7: We had to order Frankenberry off Amazon for this kid.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I wouldn't have gotten the Red Ryder BB gun.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Oh, please.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Let alone like a... I mean, and also, there were
- 9:01Speaker 3: no signs with this kid. There was nothing.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Just random?
- 9:05Speaker 3: I mean, we've heard the stories before about there were
- 9:07Speaker 3: all kinds of warning signs and they still were supplying
- 9:11Speaker 3: these kids with guns and stuff.
- 9:14Speaker 8: How do you feel about this? There was a slight
- 9:15Speaker 8: debate in my family just recently about... We were driving
- 9:18Speaker 8: by one of the old schools that we all attended
- 9:20Speaker 8: back in the day, and now they have a huge
- 9:23Speaker 8: fence all the way around the school. And some people
- 9:26Speaker 8: in the family are like, oh, that sucks. I wish
- 9:28Speaker 8: that wasn't there. And they're like, oh, it's actually a
- 9:30Speaker 8: good thing that it's there. And it's sad that it's
- 9:33Speaker 8: actually there.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Yeah, schools always felt like a prison.
- 9:35Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 9:36Speaker 4: It is sad.
- 9:37Speaker 8: But do you think all schools should have a giant
- 9:39Speaker 8: fence like that?
- 9:40Speaker 4: Well, yeah, because looking back at my high school... Anybody
- 9:43Speaker 4: could have just walked in at any time. And I
- 9:46Speaker 4: saw a video of a teacher, and this is not
- 9:49Speaker 4: a brand new thing, but they have those safe rooms
- 9:51Speaker 4: inside classrooms. So in the corner, it's just two walls.
- 9:54Speaker 4: And then in the case of an emergency, you go
- 9:56Speaker 4: to the corner.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I've seen that video.
- 9:58Speaker 5: I've seen that video.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I think that's- one classroom that exists like that. Because
- 10:02Speaker 3: most schools don't have funding for basic stuff. They don't
- 10:05Speaker 3: have funding for, you know, corners of the room that
- 10:08Speaker 3: pull out into a safe room. And also, they're not
- 10:12Speaker 3: going to spend that kind of money on the off chance,
- 10:14Speaker 3: like just in case this ever happens here. Because if
- 10:17Speaker 3: you look at the, you know, the percentages or the whatever, like,
- 10:19Speaker 3: how do you know how many schools are there?
- 10:22Speaker 4: Right.
- 10:22Speaker 3: And so, you know, it's.
- 10:24Speaker 5: But that sucks.
- 10:25Speaker 4: It's goofy.
- 10:25Speaker 8: That has to even be a thing.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 4: There we are.
- 10:28Speaker 13: But Menace, to your point with the fence, our school
- 10:31Speaker 13: had one because it was built like it was newer.
- 10:34Speaker 13: And so the newer schools just had them. And now
- 10:37Speaker 13: it's like sad, like, oh, because so that people can't
- 10:39Speaker 13: get in. But at the time, it was more so
- 10:41Speaker 13: just to keep kids from school.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:44Speaker 5: I told you the kids.
- 10:46Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 7: To not leave.
- 10:46Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 3: It was always felt like a prison.
- 10:48Speaker 8: We had an open campus in high school.
- 10:50Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Same here. So at lunchtime we would leave. Yeah. We
- 10:52Speaker 4: would leave at lunchtime.
- 10:53Speaker 13: They checked our ID as we walked out because only
- 10:56Speaker 13: juniors and seniors could leave.
- 10:57Speaker 7: And if otherwise you were skipping out, did you have
- 10:59Speaker 7: someone by the door? Like checking? And they checked your
- 11:03Speaker 7: ID as you walked out.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Wow.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Also, the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Cleveland Guardians 7-3
- 11:08Speaker 4: in Game 6 last night to win the ALCS four
- 11:11Speaker 4: games to two, reach their third World Series. So it's
- 11:14Speaker 4: the Rays versus the Brewers. Who's excited?
- 11:16Speaker 5: Dude, rip, right?
- 11:18Speaker 4: World Series starts Friday, where neither franchise has ever won
- 11:21Speaker 4: a title, so baseball is guaranteed a first-time champion. Who's
- 11:26Speaker 4: ripping out?
- 11:26Speaker 8: The Brewers have a bigger fan base, right?
- 11:28Speaker 4: Brewers?
- 11:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I would think so, because the Rays... Kind of off
- 11:32Speaker 4: the radar, right?
- 11:33Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. I mean, the Brewers, they've always had
- 11:35Speaker 3: a pretty decent fan base.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Yeah. That's cool.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Baseball has never really seemed to matter all that much
- 11:41Speaker 3: in Florida. Marlins, Rays, they've never been very... generally, they've
- 11:46Speaker 3: never been very good.
- 11:47Speaker 8: The Marlins, didn't they win the World Series their first year?
- 11:51Speaker 3: They've been good, but just in general, they've never.
- 11:54Speaker 4: They've been being good.
- 11:55Speaker 8: They've been good, but yeah, I haven't even heard about
- 12:00Speaker 8: the Marlins in forever.
- 12:01Speaker 5: I forget if they're even a team.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Me too. Forgot they existed until 14 seconds ago. Also,
- 12:07Speaker 4: Jalen Hurts, quarterback for the Eagles, he's facing a serious
- 12:10Speaker 4: health issue that's going to keep him off the field indefinitely,
- 12:13Speaker 4: and he's expected to miss the rest of the season.
- 12:16Speaker 4: So doctors discovered blood clots in both of his lungs.
- 12:20Speaker 4: That's a condition known as pulmonary emboli, along with deep
- 12:24Speaker 4: vein thrombosis. And the problem started after Jalen got hit
- 12:27Speaker 4: in the calf during a game against the Rams. That
- 12:29Speaker 4: was back on October 4th. He was diagnosed with a
- 12:31Speaker 4: superficial blood clot in London before playing the Jaguars October 11th,
- 12:36Speaker 4: but then He got some more tests and those tests
- 12:38Speaker 4: revealed a more serious condition.
- 12:40Speaker 7: So are they saying it traveled from his leg to
- 12:42Speaker 7: his lungs?
- 12:42Speaker 3: So, dude, this is so bad for the Philadelphia Eagles
- 12:46Speaker 3: and for their staff. The story is crazy where he
- 12:51Speaker 3: gets to London, right? They told him about this, whatever.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Travels to London, which, you.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Know, you shouldn't even do anyways.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Correct. Right.
- 12:58Speaker 3: So there's that. Then he gets to London. They do
- 13:01Speaker 3: these other tests and they go, oh, you have what?
- 13:04Speaker 3: it's dangerous to sleep. So the guy didn't sleep. No,
- 13:08Speaker 3: he didn't sleep. And by the time he hit the
- 13:10Speaker 3: field for the game, they still, they still played him.
- 13:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:14Speaker 3: He hits the field after not sleeping for more than
- 13:16Speaker 3: 36 hours. Turns out now he's got these blood clots.
- 13:21Speaker 4: In his lungs.
- 13:23Speaker 3: It's, it's not good, dude. Talk about like, man, Jalen
- 13:26Speaker 3: hurts could, make more money never playing football again with
- 13:29Speaker 3: what he can get out of the Eagles at this point.
- 13:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 4: The only time I've heard you shouldn't sleep is after
- 13:34Speaker 4: a concussion.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you get hit in the head or something, like
- 13:36Speaker 3: don't lay down.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Right, don't fall asleep. Well, he's currently in stable condition,
- 13:39Speaker 4: being treated with blood thinners, should make a full recovery,
- 13:43Speaker 4: but he can't play football while taking these medications.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Yeah, so he's not going to be playing. So he's
- 13:46Speaker 3: out for the rest of the season, if not longer. Wow.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Who knows? That's so effing scary.
- 13:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Well, I know the Eagles were saying they were just
- 13:55Speaker 4: relying on whatever the medical staff said. That's why he
- 13:57Speaker 4: kept on playing.
- 13:58Speaker 3: How is it that some guy, okay, he takes a
- 14:01Speaker 3: big hit in the game, and they take him off
- 14:03Speaker 3: on the sideline. They do bring him in the blue tent.
- 14:05Speaker 3: They give him the concussion test or whatever. It's questionable.
- 14:07Speaker 3: They take his helmet, make sure he doesn't go back
- 14:09Speaker 3: out on the field or whatever. This guy's got blood clots.
- 14:11Speaker 3: You're telling him not to sleep, and you still start
- 14:14Speaker 3: the game?
- 14:14Speaker 7: Yeah, get out there. Do your best.
- 14:16Speaker 4: That's fine? Crazy.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Blood clots?
- 14:19Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 14:20Speaker 7: Is he going to be a new team owner?
- 14:21Speaker 9: Dude.
- 14:21Speaker 4: Good God. Also, RIP to actor Richard Reel. He's one
- 14:26Speaker 4: of those actors that's been in a million things, but
- 14:28Speaker 4: you probably never knew him by name. Yeah, the office
- 14:31Speaker 4: space guy.
- 14:31Speaker 5: The jump to conclusions guy.
- 14:33Speaker 7: Yes, a jump to conclusions man.
- 14:34Speaker 4: After he got hit by a car, yeah, he made
- 14:36Speaker 4: that match.
- 14:36Speaker 3: I'm a people person.
- 14:37Speaker 7: I take the damn papers to the secretary.
- 14:40Speaker 4: He was also in The Fugitive. He was in Casino.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Of course you remember him from the greatest movie ever made, Bridesmaids.
- 14:48Speaker 7: Oh, the gas station guy?
- 14:50Speaker 4: The auto mechanic guy, Bill Cosby.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 4: So he was also in a few of the Star
- 14:54Speaker 4: Trek series. In total, 400 movies and TV credits. Oh,
- 14:58Speaker 4: my God. He died of natural causes at the age
- 15:00Speaker 4: of 78.
- 15:01Speaker 5: You'll know him the second you see him.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly. One of those types of actors. Also, the TSA,
- 15:07Speaker 4: I didn't know they had done this, but they're scaling
- 15:08Speaker 4: back this new program that briefly lets some people go
- 15:11Speaker 4: through the airport security, even if they were not flying.
- 15:14Speaker 4: It's called Gateside by TSA PreCheck. That's new.
- 15:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:18Speaker 3: They just started allowing that again. So that's already over?
- 15:22Speaker 4: They're not expanding it. So the TSA was letting travelers, family,
- 15:25Speaker 4: and friends walk them to the gate or welcome them
- 15:27Speaker 4: when they arrived, spend time during a layover. So it
- 15:30Speaker 4: launched at 13 airports last month, and then it expanded
- 15:34Speaker 4: to hundreds of more airports earlier. But just days later,
- 15:37Speaker 4: the TSA quietly reversed that expansion. They say they're evaluating
- 15:41Speaker 4: the participation and the impact on the airports and They
- 15:44Speaker 4: haven't said why this change was made, so for now,
- 15:47Speaker 4: it's only available at the original 13 airports.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Impact on airport, airport operations, how many people are stuck
- 15:53Speaker 3: in the security line, because they still got to go
- 15:55Speaker 3: through the security line. And it just jams up with
- 15:58Speaker 3: people who aren't even traveling. People are trying to make
- 16:00Speaker 3: their flights, and it's jammed up with people. who just
- 16:02Speaker 3: want to meet grandpa when.
- 16:03Speaker 5: He gets off the plane.
- 16:04Speaker 7: Well, I know I'm 90, but I remember as a kid,
- 16:07Speaker 7: my parents would walk me and sit me down.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Yeah, but we were a kid that was pre-9-11. That's
- 16:10Speaker 5: what I'm saying. It used to be normal.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Do you have a gun?
- 16:13Speaker 4: Nope.
- 16:14Speaker 5: All right, cool.
- 16:15Speaker 7: Come on in.
- 16:15Speaker 8: Leave your shoes on. You want to meet grandpa and
- 16:18Speaker 8: you have 900 kids with you.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Yeah, but how many people are taking advantage of it?
- 16:21Speaker 4: You have to be eligible for the program.
- 16:23Speaker 7: We didn't even know it was happening.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Exactly. It didn't even know it was there.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:27Speaker 4: So I don't think the airports are all of a
- 16:28Speaker 4: sudden inundated.
- 16:29Speaker 3: With a thousand people. Well, even before they allowed this,
- 16:31Speaker 3: the security lines were crazy long.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 3: So- I'm not saying it's everybody. It's a lot of people.
- 16:37Speaker 3: There are so many people that we're complaining about. I
- 16:39Speaker 3: just want to get to the airport. Dude, my goal
- 16:42Speaker 3: at this point, I'm not even going to pick up
- 16:43Speaker 3: anybody at the airport anymore. I'll send for a car.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I haven't done that in years. I'll pay for an Uber.
- 16:49Speaker 3: It's like helping people move now. Depending on how far
- 16:52Speaker 3: you are and how easy it is to get to
- 16:53Speaker 3: or from the airport. But for me, it's a pain
- 16:55Speaker 3: in the ass. So I'm like, you know what? I
- 16:57Speaker 3: got your Uber or.
- 17:01Speaker 7: Some guy in a snazzy suit is going to hold
- 17:02Speaker 7: your sign with your name on it.
- 17:04Speaker 3: It's going to be your name on a sign, see?
- 17:06Speaker 4: Oh, that's the dream. I love that. I know I
- 17:08Speaker 4: taught my parents how to use Uber just for airport stuff.
- 17:12Speaker 4: I'm not picking you up. I haven't done it in years.
- 17:14Speaker 7: Did your dad drop your mom off to do a
- 17:15Speaker 7: dry run?
- 17:16Speaker 4: He should have. He should have.
- 17:18Speaker 7: Follow her home.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Finally, Apu is back on The Simpsons for the first
- 17:22Speaker 4: time in almost 10 years. And he has a new voice. Oh, yeah.
- 17:26Speaker 3: We have a little clip here. I am Apu.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Apu? That's right. You thought you could just.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Get rid of me.
- 17:40Speaker 8: That sounds way different.
- 17:41Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't sound like it at all.
- 17:42Speaker 4: The new voice is done by Sunil Malhotra, who is
- 17:45Speaker 4: replacing Hank Azaria, who stepped down from voicing Apu in
- 17:49Speaker 4: 2020 after the problem. It was very troublesome. All that
- 17:51Speaker 4: controversy over Apu. But he's back now on The Simpsons
- 17:55Speaker 4: on the Halloween episode.
- 17:57Speaker 7: Okay.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Welcome back.
- 17:59Speaker 3: How scary.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Yeah, how freaky.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Spooky.
- 18:03Speaker 4: That's what's going on, Woody.
- 18:04Speaker 3: All right, thank you very much, Greg Gorey. Strong enough
- 18:07Speaker 3: for a man, but made for a woman.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Menace.
- 18:09Speaker 9: Menace.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Menace has been a supporter of using women's deodorant. As
- 18:13Speaker 3: long as I've known him, he uses women's deodorant. What?
- 18:16Speaker 9: It feels better on my skin. You see?
- 18:17Speaker 8: Yeah, like men's deodorant is like sticky.
- 18:20Speaker 3: The Woody Show. All right, well, here's some stats. ChatGPT
- 18:28Speaker 3: stereotypes us all based on where we live.
- 18:32Speaker 7: Oh, okay.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Yes, there's a big write-up about this, and they dug
- 18:37Speaker 3: into all the numbers and everything else. I've got to
- 18:41Speaker 3: pull this up on the computer because there's too much information.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I was trying to make notes and write things down.
- 18:46Speaker 3: I'll give you some of the stuff. Like the states
- 18:49Speaker 3: that have smarter people. Massachusetts is number one. There are
- 18:58Speaker 3: exceptions to all rules.
- 19:00Speaker 5: Well, it's because there's so many colleges there.
- 19:02Speaker 13: You have Harvard and MIT and all that kind of
- 19:04Speaker 13: stuff out there.
- 19:04Speaker 7: It's typically because of the college.
- 19:06Speaker 3: California, New York, Virginia, New Jersey, Minnesota, among the top.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Mississippi is at the bottom, so the least smart.
- 19:13Speaker 8: Poor Mississippi, man.
- 19:15Speaker 3: The states that have friendlier people, Hawaii, number one. And
- 19:19Speaker 3: then you got like Wisconsin, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Iowa, Minnesota,
- 19:25Speaker 3: also among the top. New York's at the bottom, so
- 19:27Speaker 3: the least friendly there.
- 19:29Speaker 7: No coastal states.
- 19:30Speaker 4: No coastal cities.
- 19:31Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 19:32Speaker 3: The states that have smellier people. So it's not all
- 19:35Speaker 3: like who's the friendliest and the smartest. I mean, they
- 19:38Speaker 3: really get into it. Okay, so let's get to some
- 19:40Speaker 3: more of the interesting ones here.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Who stinks?
- 19:43Speaker 3: States that have the smellier people. ChatGPD says Louisiana, Texas,
- 19:48Speaker 3: and New Jersey.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Really?
- 19:50Speaker 7: Hot and humid in those places.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Are at the top.
- 19:53Speaker 4: I would have thought maybe Seattle.
- 19:54Speaker 3: No. Just because they're crunchy?
- 19:57Speaker 10: Yep.
- 19:57Speaker 3: I'm looking at all the... Because you just dropped down, man.
- 20:00Speaker 3: There's all these different.
- 20:01Speaker 7: This seems to be humidity based.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 20:04Speaker 5: The smellier people.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Yeah, so... Oh, that's worldwide. India's number one.
- 20:10Speaker 9: Oh.
- 20:10Speaker 3: And then Luxembourg is the least stinky. But if you
- 20:15Speaker 3: go through states, Louisiana, number one, New Hampshire, the least stinky.
- 20:19Speaker 7: Oh, nice.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Well, random.
- 20:22Speaker 3: The states that have lazier people. This is all through
- 20:24Speaker 3: data from ChatGPT.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Okay.
- 20:26Speaker 3: So take it up with them if anybody's got any
- 20:29Speaker 3: issue about any of this stuff. States that have lazier people. Mississippi,
- 20:34Speaker 3: number one. Florida, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Arkansas,
- 20:39Speaker 3: all on the top. Colorado's at the bottom. Least lazy.
- 20:42Speaker 7: Maybe they just know how to chill.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Oh, let's see here.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Take it one day at a time. Let's go into...
- 20:47Speaker 5: No rush.
- 20:48Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Good living.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Let's see.
- 20:51Speaker 3: They have uglier people.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. All right.
- 20:54Speaker 3: It has uglier people. Kentucky is number one.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Oh, sad.
- 20:57Speaker 3: I love Kentucky. And then, let's see. California is.
- 21:04Speaker 3: The less ugly side. Texas, more ugly. Missouri's like right
- 21:12Speaker 3: in the middle. Pennsylvania's on the less ugly side. West Virginia,
- 21:20Speaker 3: they even have a little gold star sitting above West Virginia.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Congrats.
- 21:27Speaker 8: For being hotties?
- 21:29Speaker 3: Yeah, Hawaii's the least ugly. States where people are more annoying.
- 21:35Speaker 3: New Jersey, number one. Congratulations.
- 21:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I see it. Having lived right over there, not
- 21:41Speaker 7: very long, but long enough. I know you did. But
- 21:44Speaker 7: you're not there now.
- 21:45Speaker 3: South Dakota, least annoying people. And then, dude, it's all
- 21:50Speaker 3: the obvious ones that you would expect. California, annoying. Texas, annoying. Florida, annoying. Georgia, Louisiana, annoying.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Let's see. Missouri is Right in the middle again. Pennsylvania
- 22:04Speaker 3: is on the more annoying side. But that kind of
- 22:08Speaker 3: middle upper part of the annoying list.
- 22:10Speaker 7: Annoyance factor.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:13Speaker 3: The states that have sluttier people.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Okay, here we go.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Let me pull that one up.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Which states have you lived in, Gina?
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yeah, where do sluts at?
- 22:24Speaker 7: I was going to say like Florida for party school,
- 22:27Speaker 7: like ASU, Arizona.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Nevada.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Nevada's number one. Oh, there we go.
- 22:31Speaker 4: Number one sluttiest?
- 22:32Speaker 3: Number one sluttiest. California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, Alabama, Wisconsin,
- 22:37Speaker 3: among the top. Wisconsin, really? Texas is right in the middle. Missouri,
- 22:42Speaker 3: you're right up there. You're in the most slutty range.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Pennsylvania.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Pennsylvania. More middle bottom. So less slutty.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Step it up. Yeah.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Louisiana, super sluts.
- 22:56Speaker 7: Mardi Gras.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Looking at that.
- 22:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Oregon, kind of right in the middle.
- 23:03Speaker 5: Let's see.
- 23:04Speaker 3: States where people are more superstitious.
- 23:07Speaker 8: Louisiana, for sure.
- 23:09Speaker 4: All right. Oh, yeah.
- 23:10Speaker 7: Maybe Massachusetts.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Top location, Louisiana.
- 23:13Speaker 5: There we go.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Least superstitious is New York. You got Texas kind of
- 23:18Speaker 3: right in the middle there. California is at the very bottom.
- 23:22Speaker 6: Really?
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yeah, down with New York. Like New York, California, Oregon, Washington,
- 23:29Speaker 3: like the entire West Coast.
- 23:30Speaker 7: Interesting.
- 23:31Speaker 3: It's a dark blue, which is the least superstitious.
- 23:34Speaker 5: There's so many crystals, people.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Missouri and Texas, kind of the same, right in the middle.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Same with Pennsylvania, kind of right in the middle. Louisiana,
- 23:41Speaker 3: like you said, is the most.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Yeah, we kind of lump that all into the same category,
- 23:45Speaker 4: like crystals. chakras, chi.
- 23:48Speaker 8: Yeah, that's all hocus pocus.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Yeah, all that stuff.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Hocus pocus.
- 23:54Speaker 3: The states where there's more discrimination.
- 23:56Speaker 8: Okay.
- 23:58Speaker 9: Oh.
- 23:59Speaker 7: Any thoughts, Menace?
- 24:00Speaker 4: Number one is Louisiana.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Oh. The very bottom is North Dakota. But, I mean,
- 24:05Speaker 3: we're talking like a ruby red. And Louisiana is ruby red. Okay,
- 24:11Speaker 3: but so is California.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Really?
- 24:13Speaker 3: So is Texas, Florida. Illinois, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee. Looking at
- 24:22Speaker 3: all these deep ruby red.
- 24:24Speaker 7: Wow.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Missouri, you're right in the middle.
- 24:28Speaker 7: Shocking.
- 24:30Speaker 3: And then Pennsylvania, New Jersey. You guys are on the
- 24:35Speaker 3: mid to upper side of more discrimination.
- 24:39Speaker 4: How dare you?
- 24:41Speaker 5: Oregon, you're a nice.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Cute, shade of blue, which means you're more on the
- 24:47Speaker 3: less discrimination side of things.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Good for Oregon.
- 24:49Speaker 3: All right, here we go. States where people use more drugs.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Oregon.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Florida.
- 24:55Speaker 7: Washington.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Yeah. All right.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 24:57Speaker 5: People use more drugs.
- 24:58Speaker 3: All right. So, ruby red. The ruby red states here.
- 25:01Speaker 3: By the way, West Virginia, number one. Louisiana, also ruby red,
- 25:06Speaker 3: along with Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada. California, Oregon, and Washington.
- 25:14Speaker 3: So the entire West Coast, even into including Nevada.
- 25:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Are all into the drugs.
- 25:21Speaker 7: I'm pretty worried about New Orleans and Louisiana in general.
- 25:24Speaker 7: They're not doing so good.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Well, you know what?
- 25:27Speaker 3: They're making the more fun list.
- 25:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 25:30Speaker 3: We're doing drugs. Yeah, we're slutting it up.
- 25:32Speaker 8: We're discriminating.
- 25:33Speaker 3: You know what I mean? and the smell of your
- 25:39Speaker 3: thing it's like that's heat and humidity that's what i
- 25:41Speaker 3: said that's heat that's.
- 25:42Speaker 8: Humidity and no one's shocked by albuquerque i mean new
- 25:46Speaker 8: mexico because there's nothing else to do just do drugs.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Yeah uh on the use more drugs see missouri is
- 25:53Speaker 3: in the middle pennsylvania in the middle yeah so um Yeah,
- 26:00Speaker 3: nothing else really kind of stands out as shocking or surprising.
- 26:03Speaker 3: New Jersey, kind of more bottom to less drugs, which
- 26:08Speaker 3: is kind of surprising.
- 26:09Speaker 6: Really?
- 26:09Speaker 5: Yeah. She's probably drinking, right? I mean, at least that's
- 26:12Speaker 5: what the Jersey Shore told us, you know?
- 26:15Speaker 4: That's what they led us to believe. Yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 5: Anything else on here?
- 26:17Speaker 3: So here. So we did annoying. Artsy, beautiful, creative, dishonest, educated, fashionable, generous, hardworking, ignorant.
- 26:28Speaker 5: I did superstitious.
- 26:29Speaker 7: What about the dishonest one?
- 26:31Speaker 5: Well, let me give you inclusive policies.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Who cares? Smellier.
- 26:35Speaker 5: Stingier.
- 26:37Speaker 4: Dullest.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Who's stingy?
- 26:40Speaker 3: Less racist. Is less racist.
- 26:46Speaker 5: More LGBTQ plus friendly.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Stingier.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Unfriendly.
- 26:51Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 26:51Speaker 4: So, yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Anything else that kind of stands out there? Yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 6: Stingy.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Oh, wait.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Do we do?
- 26:56Speaker 4: Or dull.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Dull.
- 26:57Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 26:58Speaker 7: Well, that's going to be Midwest.
- 26:59Speaker 3: I would think it.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Would be cold places. The opposite of the smelly one.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Has stingier people. New Jersey's number one. Least stingy is Hawaii.
- 27:10Speaker 3: And the deeply ruby red ones on this one are Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky,
- 27:22Speaker 3: West Virginia.
- 27:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:24Speaker 3: I'm pretty good with the map, by the way, because
- 27:26Speaker 3: it doesn't list it. I'm looking at the map.
- 27:27Speaker 8: Oh, you're looking at the map.
- 27:28Speaker 5: I know what states these are.
- 27:29Speaker 8: Geography major.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Yeah, so suck on that.
- 27:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 4: That's impressive.
- 27:32Speaker 3: I'm pretty good with the map.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Wow.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Least stingy ones, the entire West Coast. So California, Oregon, Washington,
- 27:38Speaker 3: into Nevada, and then Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado.
- 27:42Speaker 7: I wonder if this is just based on taxes.
- 27:45Speaker 3: North Carolina, less stingy. Alaska, not stingy.
- 27:51Speaker 4: But I'm also thinking Stingy could fall into the category
- 27:54Speaker 4: of helping out a neighbor.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Texas, right in the middle. And then Louisiana, who's made
- 28:00Speaker 3: a lot of these lists, they're on the bottom side
- 28:03Speaker 3: of Lee Stingy. So they're in the middle to bottom
- 28:05Speaker 3: side of that list.
- 28:07Speaker 7: They'll give you the smelly shirt right off their back.
- 28:08Speaker 8: Yeah, they're very giving.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Yeah, but you could break it out to cities, to countries.
- 28:16Speaker 3: So chat GPT for the record. They released a statement
- 28:19Speaker 3: saying that it's designed to be objective by default and
- 28:23Speaker 3: to avoid endorsing stereotypes. Research based on forced choice prompts
- 28:29Speaker 3: in older models doesn't reflect how chat TPT is typically
- 28:32Speaker 3: used or how current models behave today.
- 28:34Speaker 5: It's basically saying these are their words, not ours.
- 28:37Speaker 7: Yeah, don't blame us.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Yeah, we're just responsible for all the stats here.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:43Speaker 3: The Woody Show. Oh, yeah, on the chat GPT stereotypes,
- 28:51Speaker 3: there was one. Yeah, somebody texted, hey, you forgot the
- 28:55Speaker 3: one when it comes to all the states that they ranked.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Is more boring. So which state is more boring? And
- 29:07Speaker 3: number one. Boring state, according to the chat GPT stereotype,
- 29:12Speaker 3: is your home state of Kansas.
- 29:15Speaker 7: Oh, I don't know about all that. It's because it's flat.
- 29:18Speaker 9: Kansas.
- 29:19Speaker 7: Because you drive through it and fall asleep and crash
- 29:20Speaker 7: your car.
- 29:21Speaker 8: Did they not go to Wyoming?
- 29:23Speaker 6: I know.
- 29:23Speaker 5: I was going to say, what about a Dakota?
- 29:25Speaker 3: I mean, that whole swath right up the middle from
- 29:27Speaker 3: Kansas and then just keep going north.
- 29:30Speaker 7: Yeah. You got to struggle. You got to take a
- 29:32Speaker 7: no-dose for sure. But that's just driving through. There's fun
- 29:34Speaker 7: stuff to stop at.
- 29:36Speaker 3: So, like, just south of Kansas, you got Oklahoma, you
- 29:38Speaker 3: know what I mean? And that was, like, right there.
- 29:40Speaker 3: right there in the middle. And then it's just like
- 29:42Speaker 3: a thermometer just got hot.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:44Speaker 9: Right.
- 29:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:44Speaker 3: All the way up to the border of Canada. So
- 29:47Speaker 3: also ruby red, you've got Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.
- 29:53Speaker 6: Fair.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Idaho. Uh-huh.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Ruby red boring. The less boring or least boring. You
- 30:00Speaker 3: got California, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, Louisiana. Not boring.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Okay.
- 30:05Speaker 7: Well, we know that.
- 30:06Speaker 3: So it's on a lot of the other, you know,
- 30:07Speaker 3: list of, you know, the ones that you don't really
- 30:09Speaker 3: want to be on. But yeah. And then Florida, not boring.
- 30:13Speaker 3: New York, not boring.
- 30:15Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Texas, kind of right in the middle. It's like Texas,
- 30:18Speaker 3: then New Mexico, and then Arizona, Oregon, California. North Carolina,
- 30:25Speaker 3: South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, all from the middle to bottom
- 30:30Speaker 3: of the list of being boring.
- 30:32Speaker 7: I must be getting old because if I was looking
- 30:34Speaker 7: for a place to move, I would go right to
- 30:36Speaker 7: the most boring list and be like... Works for me.
- 30:38Speaker 4: Yeah, right.
- 30:39Speaker 7: A calm, peaceful life.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Think about that about certain towns. I say they're perfectly boring.
- 30:43Speaker 5: Yes, I love it. I love it. Yeah, that just
- 30:46Speaker 5: changes as you get older.
- 30:48Speaker 4: You want things to be mellow. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:50Speaker 3: You don't want any drama.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Right.
- 30:52Speaker 3: You want to be able to- Less noise. Man, when
- 30:54Speaker 3: I moved out of a really busy city, for a
- 30:59Speaker 3: while I was working in New York and San Francisco
- 31:01Speaker 3: and Chicago.
- 31:03Speaker 4: In the city.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Yeah, when I got out of those places- And the
- 31:07Speaker 3: little things that I had taken for granted before I
- 31:10Speaker 3: lived in those was like going to a store or
- 31:14Speaker 3: a place and just parking.
- 31:15Speaker 4: In the parking lot.
- 31:16Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Just right up front. There's no valet. There's no garage.
- 31:20Speaker 5: There's no public parking lot to have to deal with.
- 31:22Speaker 3: It's just like you went to wherever you were going
- 31:24Speaker 3: and they had spots there that you could just park in.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Crazy.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Those are those things that you take for granted.
- 31:30Speaker 7: For sure.
- 31:30Speaker 3: And you get into some of these places.
- 31:32Speaker 11: Yep.
- 31:33Speaker 4: When I lived in a big city, I would drive
- 31:35Speaker 4: to the suburbs just to park at a restaurant. It
- 31:38Speaker 4: was exciting.
- 31:39Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Like, this is normal life. Right.
- 31:42Speaker 3: It's those little things that you don't realize how much
- 31:45Speaker 3: you miss.
- 31:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Like, I was going to the grocery store, and if
- 31:50Speaker 3: I didn't walk there, and I eventually stopped walking there
- 31:52Speaker 3: because they got rid of the plastic bags.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 31:55Speaker 3: And so they would only have the paper bags with
- 31:57Speaker 3: the paper handles, which you can get maybe one or
- 31:59Speaker 3: two that you're carrying, and then I'm... Those are not
- 32:02Speaker 3: good for like walking the city streets back to my place.
- 32:05Speaker 3: So now I'm driving to the grocery store and the
- 32:09Speaker 3: grocery store had like a public garage where it has
- 32:12Speaker 3: the arm. You take the ticket to go to the
- 32:14Speaker 3: grocery store. And I remember there was a number of
- 32:17Speaker 3: times like, man, I just miss, I miss the suburbs
- 32:20Speaker 3: because of things like this. Other things were great. It
- 32:24Speaker 3: was great being able to just walk to a lot
- 32:26Speaker 3: of places and things like that. And that time in
- 32:28Speaker 3: my life too, like not married, no kids. That was
- 32:31Speaker 3: pretty dope.
- 32:32Speaker 4: I love it how it's like, you know, oh, we're
- 32:34Speaker 4: not going to use plastic bags. We're going to be
- 32:35Speaker 4: so much greener. No, now I'm driving.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Yeah, now I'm driving.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 32:42Speaker 5: It's October.
- 32:44Speaker 6: And do you know what that means?
- 32:46Speaker 1: It's Menace's birthday month.
- 32:50Speaker 4: The countdown is.
- 32:54Speaker 9: On.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Just checking in, Menace, as we're making our way through
- 32:56Speaker 3: the birthday month.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Any, uh, any updates?
- 33:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 8: I'm going to do a little field trip to the, uh,
- 33:03Speaker 8: Lucas museum. So that'd be cool.
- 33:05Speaker 3: That one, that was number six on the list.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:07Speaker 5: That's happening next week.
- 33:08Speaker 3: I can mark that off.
- 33:09Speaker 12: Yes.
- 33:10Speaker 8: Uh, we still got to talk away and talk a
- 33:12Speaker 8: little bit about how we're going to give away the, uh,
- 33:15Speaker 8: extreme weekend trip to London to go to raising canes
- 33:17Speaker 8: next week.
- 33:18Speaker 5: We have to do that.
- 33:20Speaker 8: And, uh, I've been working on this SpaceX, uh, Yeah.
- 33:24Speaker 5: That's number three on the list. Yes.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Get a ride on the SpaceX 737 jet. Yeah, I said,
- 33:30Speaker 3: wherever it's going, I'll get a ride.
- 33:32Speaker 4: Oh, okay. I thought it was just to get on it,
- 33:34Speaker 4: even if it didn't take off. He did say get
- 33:37Speaker 4: a ride.
- 33:37Speaker 8: Yeah, get a ride, and I'll find my way back.
- 33:40Speaker 8: I did have an email exchange yesterday about the Goodyear blimp.
- 33:44Speaker 5: Oh.
- 33:44Speaker 8: I know, Woody, you said you would be down to
- 33:46Speaker 8: do that.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Anything that flies, I'm down.
- 33:48Speaker 4: Yeah, so.
- 33:50Speaker 8: We did have the Street Fighter movie screening, so that happened.
- 33:54Speaker 8: I'm definitely going to the F1 race in Austin, possibly
- 33:59Speaker 8: Mexico City.
- 34:00Speaker 3: That one has nothing to do with listeners, right?
- 34:02Speaker 5: That's just you going?
- 34:03Speaker 4: No, that's just me going, yeah.
- 34:05Speaker 5: Hold on.
- 34:06Speaker 8: If there's a bunch of listeners that happen to be
- 34:08Speaker 8: at the race and they hit me up on social
- 34:09Speaker 8: media and they want to meet up, let's do it.
- 34:11Speaker 5: That'd be fun.
- 34:12Speaker 4: All right.
- 34:13Speaker 9: Oh, and.
- 34:15Speaker 3: We did book Dr. Terry Dubrow. Yes!
- 34:18Speaker 8: So many questions to be had.
- 34:20Speaker 5: Yeah, so that one we can mark off.
- 34:22Speaker 8: Hell yeah.
- 34:25Speaker 3: I'm so excited. I should probably not mark off the
- 34:30Speaker 3: Goodyear blimp thing, right?
- 34:31Speaker 6: Not yet.
- 34:31Speaker 8: That's a question mark, yeah, for sure.
- 34:35Speaker 3: The desert surf thing?
- 34:36Speaker 8: Desert surf thing. We have that locked in. We just
- 34:39Speaker 8: got to reschedule because of weather.
- 34:40Speaker 3: But that's happening?
- 34:41Speaker 8: That's happening for sure.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I'm marking that off.
- 34:43Speaker 9: Mm-hmm.
- 34:44Speaker 5: All right, and then the SpaceX thing. Possible.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Stay a night at the Incredibles house. That's probably not happening.
- 34:49Speaker 5: And then the.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Extreme weekend trip to Raising Gates. Now, we've mentioned that
- 34:55Speaker 3: a few times, and we did the extreme weekend trip
- 34:58Speaker 3: to Dubai last year. And that's the one that Metis
- 35:01Speaker 3: and I did with our listener Richard, who won. And
- 35:05Speaker 3: we left on a Friday, like at 4 o'clock, flew
- 35:10Speaker 3: 16 hours to Dubai.
- 35:12Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 35:13Speaker 3: We were on the ground for about 10 or 11 hours,
- 35:15Speaker 3: flew 16 and a half hours back, and then landed
- 35:19Speaker 3: like Sunday at 1 p.m.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yes.
- 35:22Speaker 3: So we went to Dubai and back in the course
- 35:25Speaker 3: of one weekend.
- 35:26Speaker 7: Sure did.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:27Speaker 3: That was cool because we flew on Emirates.
- 35:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:30Speaker 3: And that experience was dope just by itself because, man,
- 35:33Speaker 3: those Emirates, those A380s, those giant... I mean, these planes
- 35:37Speaker 3: are massive.
- 35:38Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 35:38Speaker 4: It was a mansion in the sky. Yeah, like your
- 35:39Speaker 4: little apartment.
- 35:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:41Speaker 9: The.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Just the engine, one engine on this plane. It's got four.
- 35:48Speaker 4: Four, I would think.
- 35:49Speaker 3: One engine on this plane. The diameter of it is
- 35:53Speaker 3: wider than a Southwest jet, like the fuselage.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Oh, jeez.
- 35:57Speaker 7: That's insane.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it's cool. Like when you see like, I've seen
- 36:00Speaker 3: a bunch of videos and stuff, because if I am
- 36:03Speaker 3: watching something, I'm watching that kind of stuff. This plane
- 36:05Speaker 3: had a shower. You know, it's a huge bar in
- 36:09Speaker 3: the back.
- 36:09Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Like a lounge bar type. So this is the extreme
- 36:12Speaker 3: weekend trip, another there and back in a very short
- 36:15Speaker 3: amount of time. So you said you had like the,
- 36:17Speaker 3: the times kind of.
- 36:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 36:18Speaker 8: So we would leave on, uh, in the evening on
- 36:21Speaker 8: a Friday, we would land in London around 2 PM
- 36:25Speaker 8: on a Saturday. And then we don't have to leave
- 36:29Speaker 8: until the next day, Sunday, uh, At 3 p.m.
- 36:32Speaker 5: So it's like a one-night stay. Yeah, one-night stay.
- 36:34Speaker 3: But you still make it there and back in the
- 36:35Speaker 3: course of one weekend because of all the time changes
- 36:38Speaker 3: and everything.
- 36:38Speaker 8: Yeah, and then you're back late Sunday afternoon. Pretty crazy.
- 36:45Speaker 3: But you're going all the way to London because they're
- 36:48Speaker 3: opening up a Raising Cane's.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Yes.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Do you have a date on that opening yet?
- 36:51Speaker 9: No.
- 36:52Speaker 4: They don't know yet.
- 36:53Speaker 3: So we don't know exactly when that's happening yet.
- 36:55Speaker 8: That's actually going to happen.
- 36:56Speaker 3: We're at the mercy of when they can open that
- 36:57Speaker 3: thing up.
- 36:58Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Good thing they're not trying to open up in Paris. Yeah,
- 37:01Speaker 3: I was thinking about that too.
- 37:02Speaker 4: Or Milan.
- 37:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:04Speaker 3: But yeah, there's your update. Yeah, because everything else.
- 37:07Speaker 8: It's going good.
- 37:08Speaker 4: It's been pretty successful. The kart racing, nothing on that?
- 37:11Speaker 8: No, nothing.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Not standing on top of the sphere. That would have been...
- 37:16Speaker 3: I think there's too much liability.
- 37:19Speaker 9: On.
- 37:20Speaker 3: On something like that.
- 37:21Speaker 4: They'll strap you down. Sure. Fine. Yeah. You'll wear a
- 37:25Speaker 4: strap on.
- 37:26Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 37:26Speaker 8: Strap me on all day.
- 37:28Speaker 5: Suction shoes.
- 37:29Speaker 3: I mean, think about it. Last year, think about how
- 37:31Speaker 3: hard we had to fight to be able to take
- 37:33Speaker 3: a listener first class on Emirates.
- 37:36Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 37:36Speaker 4: So dangerous.
- 37:39Speaker 3: That was testing the liability limits of our company.
- 37:41Speaker 7: You thought they were going to tie him to the
- 37:42Speaker 7: wing the way they were talking.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Yeah. I know.
- 37:45Speaker 5: It was so crazy.
- 37:46Speaker 3: I just want to stand on top of the sphere.
- 37:48Speaker 7: I'm good, yeah.
- 37:49Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 37:49Speaker 3: I'm sure they're fine with that.
- 37:50Speaker 4: I want to head down. All right.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Well, anyway, check out the list. It's posted on our Instagram.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Then keep listening.
- 37:55Speaker 3: We'll have some more details on how you might be
- 37:57Speaker 3: able to be a part of that extreme weekend trip
- 37:59Speaker 3: to London to go check out the Raising Canes. And
- 38:03Speaker 3: time is running out for you to sign up for
- 38:05Speaker 3: that second 98-inch TCL television. Menace said he wanted to
- 38:09Speaker 3: give away two. He already gave away one.
- 38:11Speaker 6: Yes.
- 38:11Speaker 3: So there's one more 98-inch TCL television that you can win.
- 38:15Speaker 3: That is posted. It's pinned to the top of our
- 38:17Speaker 3: Instagram there, at The Woody Show, and all the details
- 38:20Speaker 3: and instructions on how you can sign up to win that.
- 38:22Speaker 3: But the deadline for that is just a couple days away.
- 38:25Speaker 3: So get to our Instagram right now and sign up.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Menace's birthday month.
- 38:31Speaker 9: Sponsored by the letter L for loser and by the
- 38:33Speaker 9: number zero, the official percentage that a grown man with
- 38:36Speaker 9: a birthday month could ever be cool.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Menace, how do you think it smells in here?
- 38:45Speaker 8: It smells deece.
- 38:47Speaker 3: It smells deece? Yeah. Deece nuts?
- 38:50Speaker 4: It's like.
- 38:54Speaker 5: I can't really put my finger on it.
- 38:56Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 38:56Speaker 8: It smells.
- 38:57Speaker 5: You know what we're doing. Kind of gravy-ish.
- 38:59Speaker 6: Oh, gravy-ish?
- 39:00Speaker 5: Gravy-ish?
- 39:00Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm trying to describe it.
- 39:02Speaker 7: Love you some gravy.
- 39:03Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 39:03Speaker 4: It's a little bit gravy-ish.
- 39:04Speaker 3: All right, well, we've been having a little ongoing series. Mm-hmm.
- 39:10Speaker 3: The Wheel of Casseroles.
- 39:12Speaker 8: Yes.
- 39:12Speaker 3: I love that wheel. It's been lit so far. Menace,
- 39:16Speaker 3: for whatever reason, had a hangout. Have you changed your
- 39:19Speaker 3: kind of position on casseroles?
- 39:21Speaker 8: I told you since the beginning, since you guys explained
- 39:23Speaker 8: it to me, that I've been eating things that I
- 39:25Speaker 8: did not know were casseroles.
- 39:28Speaker 4: Yeah, he had no clue.
- 39:29Speaker 3: He's had this prejudice against the term casserole. Let's expose
- 39:35Speaker 3: him here on his birthday month. We'll expose him to
- 39:37Speaker 3: different casseroles. And so we started with the enchilada stack,
- 39:41Speaker 3: which he liked. And then it was the chicken and rice.
- 39:44Speaker 9: Yes.
- 39:45Speaker 3: The chicken and rice casserole, which that was very good.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Gina made that one. She left out the broccoli just
- 39:51Speaker 3: for you.
- 39:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I wouldn't do that to you.
- 39:52Speaker 3: And then each time we try a casserole, we spin
- 39:56Speaker 3: to see what the next casserole is going to be.
- 39:58Speaker 3: And there's all kinds on there. Tuna noodles on there.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Green bean casseroles on there.
- 40:04Speaker 9: Love.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Sweet potato casseroles on there.
- 40:09Speaker 5: Any good ones left?
- 40:11Speaker 3: Well, the one that we are trying today is hash
- 40:15Speaker 3: brown casserole.
- 40:16Speaker 8: That's what it landed on last time.
- 40:17Speaker 5: Why does it not look what I thought it was
- 40:19Speaker 5: going to be?
- 40:20Speaker 3: What did you think it was going to be?
- 40:21Speaker 8: Hash browns?
- 40:22Speaker 5: Like shredded? Yeah, this looks like mac and cheese with cornflakes.
- 40:25Speaker 7: I'll tell you why. There's a reason for that. Because
- 40:27Speaker 7: in my experience, and I've made cheesy potatoes slash funeral
- 40:30Speaker 7: potatoes many times, when you use the shredded one, it
- 40:33Speaker 7: becomes very gluey and kind of mushy.
- 40:35Speaker 4: That is true.
- 40:36Speaker 7: Thank you. I know about casseroles.
- 40:37Speaker 5: But why cornflakes?
- 40:39Speaker 7: Because you need a crunchy, crispy topping and it's delicious.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the thing. A lot of casseroles have either
- 40:44Speaker 3: like a buttered breadcrumb type of topping.
- 40:47Speaker 7: Last time we did panko.
- 40:48Speaker 3: Right, something like that. Or on the green bean casserole,
- 40:52Speaker 3: you have the French fried onions that go on the top.
- 40:54Speaker 3: On the top of a sweet potato casserole, they'll put
- 40:57Speaker 3: the marshmallows.
- 40:58Speaker 4: I agree with all that.
- 40:59Speaker 5: These cornflakes appear to be loose.
- 41:00Speaker 7: Well, okay, there's a reason for that. I toasted them
- 41:03Speaker 7: separately so they wouldn't be mushy because.
- 41:05Speaker 3: They're really heated. And then she brought it in so
- 41:07Speaker 3: that we can have it nice and hot.
- 41:08Speaker 7: Yes, I did my best to make it.
- 41:10Speaker 5: Because you don't want them soggy.
- 41:11Speaker 3: You want them crispy. Because part of that is the crispy.
- 41:15Speaker 3: I've had a number of hash brown casseroles.
- 41:18Speaker 4: Over the years.
- 41:19Speaker 3: And this looks like what I would expect. When you
- 41:21Speaker 3: go to the family function and you scoop it onto
- 41:24Speaker 3: the plate. It certainly smells legit. Menace is now trying it. Now, Gina,
- 41:30Speaker 3: as he's trying it, what's all in this?
- 41:32Speaker 7: Very cheesy. I have the diced frozen hash browns that
- 41:36Speaker 7: I bake first to dry them out. Then sour cream.
- 41:39Speaker 7: And my personal favorite is to add Greek yogurt because
- 41:42Speaker 7: it gives a little bit of tang. So it's not
- 41:44Speaker 7: so boring. A lot of shredded cheddar cheese. Smoked paprika,
- 41:49Speaker 7: onion powder, garlic powder, a little salt and pep, and
- 41:54Speaker 7: sprinkle with buttered toasted cornflakes on the top. Very simple.
- 41:58Speaker 6: What do you think, Menace?
- 41:59Speaker 7: I did put a little bacon in it, but you
- 42:01Speaker 7: can't taste it.
- 42:01Speaker 8: Oh, sorry.
- 42:02Speaker 7: Lots of sauteed onions.
- 42:04Speaker 3: I do like it.
- 42:07Speaker 4: Very good.
- 42:08Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 42:08Speaker 8: I think we can do without the cornflakes.
- 42:10Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 8: Or maybe like what Seabass was saying, maybe grind them up.
- 42:14Speaker 8: Almost into a powder.
- 42:15Speaker 4: I don't think I said that.
- 42:16Speaker 3: I thought that's.
- 42:17Speaker 5: What you said.
- 42:18Speaker 4: You said to pulverize them.
- 42:19Speaker 5: Because all that would do would make it like pasty.
- 42:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:22Speaker 5: Well, my implication was that typically a topping is integrated
- 42:25Speaker 5: into the casserole as opposed to sprinkled on.
- 42:26Speaker 7: Which was one my family got. But because you guys
- 42:30Speaker 7: were reheating this, I didn't want.
- 42:31Speaker 3: Them to be mushy.
- 42:32Speaker 13: Yeah, because when you make it, you take it out
- 42:34Speaker 13: and sprinkle them on and put it back in for
- 42:35Speaker 13: like five minutes.
- 42:37Speaker 4: Right at the end.
- 42:37Speaker 3: But then you got to eat it right away. Because otherwise,
- 42:39Speaker 3: if you go to have that same casserole the next day,
- 42:42Speaker 3: it's all mush.
- 42:43Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 42:44Speaker 3: It's all mush. Then you don't get that, what you want,
- 42:46Speaker 3: which is that kind of crust or crisp.
- 42:47Speaker 5: Crispity.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Yeah, crispity goodness.
- 42:49Speaker 4: That's on the top.
- 42:50Speaker 7: We do the best with what we eat in here.
- 42:51Speaker 3: I know Greg is over there judging the cornflake topping.
- 42:55Speaker 4: I was reluctant because, like everybody said, just sprinkled on top,
- 42:58Speaker 4: they look like they would just dry it out. But
- 43:00Speaker 4: they kind of just give it a crunch without overbearing anything.
- 43:05Speaker 4: The tang from the yogurt definitely comes through.
- 43:07Speaker 5: Makes a big difference.
- 43:09Speaker 4: It's like potatoes au gratin. Ooh, that's true, yeah.
- 43:11Speaker 6: What?
- 43:12Speaker 4: What? Really, really good. The cheese, the amount of cheese
- 43:17Speaker 4: is spot on.
- 43:18Speaker 5: Oh, good.
- 43:18Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 43:19Speaker 3: But Greg, what were you saying in general about putting...
- 43:22Speaker 3: cereal on top of a dish.
- 43:24Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 43:25Speaker 7: Cereal and potato chips. Do you have thoughts about that?
- 43:27Speaker 16: Yeah, I didn't have that growing up because I didn't
- 43:29Speaker 16: grow up in a trailer. Yeah, my house wasn't able
- 43:37Speaker 16: to be towed anywhere.
- 43:39Speaker 7: My bedroom didn't have a steering wheel.
- 43:41Speaker 5: If you gave this to me and didn't tell me
- 43:42Speaker 5: what it was, I would say, this is potatoes au gratin?
- 43:45Speaker 4: Yeah. I wouldn't even think they're hash browns, to be honest.
- 43:48Speaker 4: I would just think it's sliced potatoes.
- 43:50Speaker 7: And again, you can do shredded potatoes, and they're fantastic,
- 43:53Speaker 7: but they can get kind of gluey.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Some people will use tater tots, too. That's their way
- 43:59Speaker 3: of jizzing it up.
- 43:59Speaker 7: That's tater tot hot dish.
- 44:00Speaker 5: When you get it at Cracker Barrel, which is the
- 44:04Speaker 5: place you can find this on the menu.
- 44:06Speaker 4: And those are actual tots? It's shredded. Oh, okay. This
- 44:08Speaker 4: is great, Gina.
- 44:09Speaker 7: Oh, I'm so glad.
- 44:10Speaker 1: It's good.
- 44:10Speaker 3: So what you meant, it's on a scale of 1
- 44:11Speaker 3: to 10. What are you giving the hash brown casserole?
- 44:15Speaker 5: I will give it an eight.
- 44:17Speaker 3: An eight?
- 44:18Speaker 8: Yeah, because the tanginess, a little too tangy for me
- 44:24Speaker 8: because it's.
- 44:26Speaker 5: Blended in with the onions, which I'm not a fan of.
- 44:29Speaker 7: Oh, you're not an onion guy?
- 44:30Speaker 5: Oh, I love sauteed onions. That's too close to being
- 44:32Speaker 5: a vegetable guy.
- 44:32Speaker 7: I didn't realize that.
- 44:33Speaker 5: That's in the vegetable family.
- 44:34Speaker 7: I thought it was like a garlic sauce.
- 44:36Speaker 5: Yeah, no.
- 44:37Speaker 8: But, I mean, it's still good.
- 44:39Speaker 3: I understand more, like, when you say, like, I don't
- 44:42Speaker 3: want onion on a burger, tomato on a burger. But
- 44:45Speaker 3: in the context of something like this, even onions in
- 44:47Speaker 3: a context like this you don't like?
- 44:49Speaker 8: Yeah, no.
- 44:49Speaker 12: But they kind of disappear.
- 44:51Speaker 7: Would you have known if I didn't say?
- 44:52Speaker 8: Yeah, I would have tasted.
- 44:54Speaker 7: Because I did put a lot in there.
- 44:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like the yogurt, like, enhances the onion flavor.
- 44:59Speaker 4: I kind of, like, I hate to criticize, it is
- 45:01Speaker 4: a little overly tangy.
- 45:02Speaker 7: Oh, see, that's why I prefer it.
- 45:05Speaker 3: And then you've been complaining that certain of the, not
- 45:08Speaker 3: cheesy enough, like on the cheesy factor, what do.
- 45:10Speaker 4: You give this?
- 45:12Speaker 5: Cheesy factor, I'll give it six and a half. I
- 45:15Speaker 5: doubled the cheese on this one. I know, but the
- 45:17Speaker 5: tanginess is overtaking the easyness. Oh, interesting.
- 45:19Speaker 9: All right.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Well, we're going to spin the wheel one more time
- 45:22Speaker 3: here on the Wheel of Casseroles. But nice job, Gina.
- 45:26Speaker 17: Oh, thank you.
- 45:27Speaker 4: I really enjoyed it. You get it.
- 45:29Speaker 1: You get it.
- 45:29Speaker 3: And it came just at the right time.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. All right.
- 45:33Speaker 8: Good.
- 45:34Speaker 5: Something good.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Wheel of Casseroles.
- 45:37Speaker 4: You've been getting it.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Ew.
- 45:38Speaker 9: Ew.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Ew.
- 45:39Speaker 12: Come on, Gina.
- 45:40Speaker 13: Ew.
- 45:40Speaker 9: Ew.
- 45:42Speaker 4: And it's going.
- 45:43Speaker 3: To be Sweet Potato Casserole. Sweet Potato Casserole. I forget
- 45:51Speaker 3: who signed up for that. I think that's you. Was
- 45:53Speaker 3: that mine?
- 45:54Speaker 7: I thought so.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Not mine.
- 45:55Speaker 7: I don't like those.
- 45:58Speaker 3: In fact, I thought I'd sign up for green bean
- 46:00Speaker 3: and for.
- 46:01Speaker 4: I signed up for green bean. Oh, you did?
- 46:03Speaker 5: Tuna noodle, for sure. I mean, you're always.
- 46:05Speaker 6: I'm down.
- 46:05Speaker 5: Yeah, you're always pimping sweet potato.
- 46:07Speaker 4: So why don't you like sweet potatoes? No, it's like
- 46:09Speaker 4: pumpkin pie.
- 46:10Speaker 8: No, it's not. Pumpkin pie is so delicious and good.
- 46:14Speaker 8: Sweet potato is just gross.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Even with the marshmallows on top?
- 46:18Speaker 4: It's not disgusting.
- 46:19Speaker 5: It's just like.
- 46:20Speaker 8: It's overly sweet.
- 46:21Speaker 5: It's not... It's just so disgusting.
- 46:25Speaker 4: See, I think sweet potato casserole is... It's perfectly sweet.
- 46:28Speaker 4: I think sweet potato pie is under sweet. It's not
- 46:31Speaker 4: sweet enough.
- 46:32Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 46:32Speaker 1: All right.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Well, that's next up for the wheel of casseroles.
- 46:39Speaker 4: Sweet potato pie.
- 46:40Speaker 3: Look, I'll give you the option. Would you rather trade
- 46:42Speaker 3: it out for tuna noodle?
- 46:44Speaker 4: It's our last one.
- 46:44Speaker 8: Elmo, yes.
- 46:45Speaker 7: Please, please, please.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Or we could do both. No.
- 46:47Speaker 5: I'll bring tuna noodle.
- 46:48Speaker 9: No.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:49Speaker 5: No, I can't do it, man.
- 46:51Speaker 8: I'll pass out.
- 46:52Speaker 4: You'll pass out. You gotta do it.
- 46:54Speaker 7: It's so good.
- 46:55Speaker 8: I'll throw up.
- 46:56Speaker 4: Now we gotta do it.
- 46:57Speaker 5: We've had it like 30 years.
- 46:58Speaker 3: So you'd rather sweet potato than tuna noodle?
- 47:00Speaker 5: Yes, yes, yes.
- 47:02Speaker 4: For sure. For sure. Oh, my God. He's dreading it
- 47:05Speaker 4: so bad.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Dude, the tuna noodle casserole. My mom's coming to visit.
- 47:08Speaker 3: I might make her make it just to do it.
- 47:11Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 47:12Speaker 3: Please.
- 47:12Speaker 5: Just to have it. Have the OG make it.
- 47:15Speaker 3: We have OG noodle casserole maker.
- 47:19Speaker 5: We have other food, guys.
- 47:21Speaker 4: As much as he's dreading the casserole, I'm equally excited
- 47:24Speaker 4: if your mom makes a casserole.
- 47:26Speaker 3: That could be a bonus one.
- 47:27Speaker 7: That'd be amazing.
- 47:28Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:28Speaker 5: A little dessert for you, Menace. No, I'm happy.
- 47:31Speaker 3: But she's not visiting until next week. Well, we'll have
- 47:33Speaker 3: to get her.
- 47:34Speaker 4: What a good work.
- 47:36Speaker 3: Well, we can have the sweet potato casserole between now
- 47:38Speaker 3: and the visit. And then a bonus tuna noodle casserole.
- 47:41Speaker 5: Oh, my God. Oh, William Sonoma has a version.
- 47:44Speaker 4: Well, thank you, Gina. I keep getting notified, company email.
- 47:55Speaker 3: I have some outstanding... Things that I have. I've got
- 47:59Speaker 3: an expense report that I've got to submit. Well, no,
- 48:03Speaker 3: I've got to submit the receipts for the expense report.
- 48:07Speaker 4: That's always fun. Such a drag. It doesn't take 10 hours.
- 48:10Speaker 3: And then I'd mentioned to somebody, I think it was Jeff.
- 48:14Speaker 3: that I had this training video that I'm supposed to do.
- 48:17Speaker 5: It takes a million years.
- 48:19Speaker 3: And that's what he said. He goes, oh my God.
- 48:21Speaker 3: He goes, dude, it takes forever.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Yeah, block out an entire day.
- 48:24Speaker 8: Yeah, it's the longest one I've ever done.
- 48:26Speaker 5: Two hours, 15 minutes, dude.
- 48:27Speaker 4: Are you serious?
- 48:28Speaker 12: Oh, yeah.
- 48:29Speaker 4: And it says, this will take about a half hour.
- 48:30Speaker 5: It's horrible. Because you have to click through every little thing.
- 48:33Speaker 5: And if the window's not up, it'll stop playing.
- 48:35Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's super misleading because it says, okay, you're
- 48:37Speaker 4: on 18 of 23. You're like, oh, Good, I'm getting there.
- 48:40Speaker 5: You guys all finished it already?
- 48:41Speaker 4: Yeah. And then once you get to 23, okay, now
- 48:44Speaker 4: you're on one of 18. Yep. And then, okay, now
- 48:46Speaker 4: you're on six of 41. It never ends.
- 48:49Speaker 5: Subsection 55. It takes forever.
- 48:51Speaker 3: And this is a good use of our time.
- 48:53Speaker 5: Oh, it's so efficient. What's this one about? Is it about,
- 48:55Speaker 5: is it the new sexual?
- 48:57Speaker 7: No. This is don't be mean to your coworkers. It's
- 48:59Speaker 7: just harassment in general.
- 48:59Speaker 5: That's everything.
- 49:00Speaker 4: Harassing and bullying.
- 49:02Speaker 3: I mean, it somewhat touches on sexual stuff, but yeah,
- 49:04Speaker 3: it's not strictly sexual.
- 49:05Speaker 4: Right.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:05Speaker 5: Sexual.
- 49:06Speaker 9: Straight.
- 49:07Speaker 3: The sexual harassment training that we have to do every year.
- 49:10Speaker 3: But here's the thing. The training video stuff has gotten
- 49:14Speaker 3: so out of control. It's almost like a full time
- 49:16Speaker 3: job because every week it seems there's a new training
- 49:20Speaker 3: video some are super short some are just a document
- 49:24Speaker 3: that you have to acknowledge but almost every week it's
- 49:27Speaker 3: a new cover your ass you know from corporate not
- 49:30Speaker 3: cover our ass it's not about learning it's about it's
- 49:33Speaker 3: not covering your ass they can say if something.
- 49:36Speaker 5: Comes up we told them they signed it yeah Usually.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Part of some kind of like consent decree. Like, oh, well,
- 49:43Speaker 3: someone tried to sue us for X, Y, Z. And
- 49:46Speaker 3: so now all employees undergo this training so they can
- 49:49Speaker 3: say the next time it comes up, well, we have
- 49:52Speaker 3: our employees going through all the training.
- 49:54Speaker 5: They understand, you know, bullying.
- 49:56Speaker 4: They shut it down.
- 49:57Speaker 3: Yeah, whatever.
- 49:57Speaker 4: Whatever this one is. And this one tries to be
- 49:58Speaker 4: all cutesy. It has basically like credits at the end
- 50:01Speaker 4: of the training. So it's like. John is now working for,
- 50:05Speaker 4: you know, McDonald's and he's lived happily ever after.
- 50:07Speaker 7: It's supposed to be like the office. It's handheld and
- 50:09Speaker 7: then they sit in an office and do a talking hat.
- 50:11Speaker 4: It's horrible. Oh, my God. Horrible acting, dude.
- 50:14Speaker 9: Right.
- 50:14Speaker 5: Horrible.
- 50:15Speaker 4: But you know what?
- 50:16Speaker 3: In the training videos that we've had before, because usually
- 50:18Speaker 3: every year, Jeff, this is your, you know, first go
- 50:21Speaker 3: around with us. The new sexual harassment training video, we
- 50:25Speaker 3: always have clips like where it's like, you know, Two
- 50:29Speaker 3: people in a cubicle. Two chicks talking about how, hey,
- 50:32Speaker 3: so did you get lucky this weekend? The guy who
- 50:36Speaker 3: works in the office pops his head over the cubicle. Ladies,
- 50:39Speaker 3: this conversation is making me uncomfortable.
- 50:42Speaker 5: Bull ish. This is to let you know it can
- 50:45Speaker 5: go both ways.
- 50:46Speaker 14: Well, if you want clips, we got clips today.
- 50:49Speaker 3: Oh, you got clips of the new one? Oh, yeah,
- 50:50Speaker 3: me and Seabass. Oh, okay.
- 50:53Speaker 4: Here we go.
- 50:53Speaker 3: So does this mean I have to still take this
- 50:55Speaker 3: two-hour training?
- 50:55Speaker 4: Probably.
- 50:56Speaker 5: At the end of this training, the very last page says,
- 50:59Speaker 5: I certify that I myself took this training.
- 51:01Speaker 4: I didn't say anybody.
- 51:03Speaker 5: This is credit for you for when you lie and
- 51:04Speaker 5: have someone else do that for you. This is the
- 51:07Speaker 5: main thing. Because we're all legal children.
- 51:11Speaker 9: Mm-hmm.
- 51:11Speaker 5: When is it okay to touch people at work and
- 51:14Speaker 5: they break it down for you?
- 51:15Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 51:16Speaker 17: Whether it's okay to touch someone at work depends on
- 51:18Speaker 17: a variety of factors, such as the type of touching
- 51:21Speaker 17: and how well you know the person and what they
- 51:24Speaker 17: find offensive. When thinking of various types of physical contact
- 51:27Speaker 17: and nonverbal behavior, it can be helpful to categorize behavior
- 51:30Speaker 17: as either red light. yellow light, or green light. Green
- 51:34Speaker 17: light behavior is usually appropriate in the workplace. Red light
- 51:38Speaker 17: behavior is never appropriate. And yellow light behavior may or
- 51:41Speaker 17: may not be appropriate depending on the circumstances.
- 51:44Speaker 3: So like a hug.
- 51:46Speaker 4: Where's a hug?
- 51:48Speaker 5: Oh, that's coming up.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Finger banging?
- 51:51Speaker 4: What if I cup Gina's boobs?
- 51:52Speaker 5: I want to know what red light is. Well, let's
- 51:56Speaker 5: start with a very simple one. First, before we play this, Woody,
- 51:58Speaker 5: since you haven't taken this yet, do you think a
- 52:00Speaker 5: handshake is Green light, yellow light, or red light behavior?
- 52:04Speaker 3: In a business environment, I would say green.
- 52:06Speaker 5: Okay, that's probably a good answer.
- 52:08Speaker 4: What if it's a sexual handshake?
- 52:10Speaker 17: A handshake is green light behavior. The law and workplace
- 52:14Speaker 17: policies do not prohibit all touching at work. Only that
- 52:17Speaker 17: which someone reasonably finds offensive.
- 52:19Speaker 3: And what if I take my one finger and use
- 52:21Speaker 3: it to tickle the palm of the other person?
- 52:22Speaker 9: Yellow.
- 52:23Speaker 4: And you whisper, meet me in the bathroom?
- 52:26Speaker 7: And what if I say, smell my finger?
- 52:30Speaker 17: That said, if someone prefers not to be touched in
- 52:32Speaker 17: any way, you should, of course, not insist on shaking
- 52:35Speaker 17: their hand.
- 52:36Speaker 4: Oh, yes!
- 52:37Speaker 5: That works for me. I'll take that. Yeah, you guys,
- 52:39Speaker 5: don't red light me.
- 52:40Speaker 4: Right.
- 52:41Speaker 5: I don't want to shake your touchy hands.
- 52:42Speaker 7: Wear a little name tag. No, thank you.
- 52:44Speaker 4: All right.
- 52:45Speaker 5: All right, so guys, up next, Woody. Do you think
- 52:48Speaker 5: a pat on the back is green light, red light,
- 52:50Speaker 5: or yellow light behavior?
- 52:51Speaker 3: Now, is it a pat or is it one of
- 52:52Speaker 3: those pats where it's kind of a half circle rub,
- 52:55Speaker 3: like wax on, wax off?
- 52:56Speaker 4: Am I rubbing the bra?
- 52:57Speaker 7: I think it's just an attaboy pat.
- 52:59Speaker 3: Yeah, what if I snap their bra strap?
- 53:02Speaker 5: It's yellow for sure.
- 53:04Speaker 4: And ask them, do you like that? A pat on
- 53:05Speaker 4: the back?
- 53:06Speaker 3: Yellow. See, that could be also, depending on the context,
- 53:11Speaker 3: could be seen as condescending behavior.
- 53:14Speaker 5: Oh, good for you. You see that a lot in
- 53:16Speaker 5: like street fights where guys looking to fight you. So like, hey, man,
- 53:19Speaker 5: what's up?
- 53:20Speaker 3: How you doing?
- 53:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:22Speaker 4: What's your final answer?
- 53:23Speaker 3: I'll say pat on the back would be yellow.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Oh, OK.
- 53:27Speaker 3: Yellow, right?
- 53:28Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 53:28Speaker 4: All right.
- 53:29Speaker 17: A pat on the back is yellow light behavior as
- 53:32Speaker 17: it may or may not be appropriate. An innocent pat
- 53:35Speaker 17: on the back may be OK. However, an innocent pat
- 53:38Speaker 17: on the back can become something more sexual, such as
- 53:41Speaker 17: a pat on the back followed by rubbing the back.
- 53:43Speaker 4: There you go.
- 53:44Speaker 3: Especially when the hand slides right down to the coin slot.
- 53:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 53:47Speaker 3: Yeah, now you're the top of the crack of their ass.
- 53:49Speaker 5: A little sweaty.
- 53:50Speaker 4: Yeah. You say, damn, that is a nice ass.
- 53:53Speaker 5: And as you're doing it, you go, mmm.
- 53:56Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 53:56Speaker 4: Mmm. And you say, wow.
- 53:58Speaker 7: Well, then, you know, since we're doing green, yellow, and red,
- 54:03Speaker 7: I want you guys to answer this to me because
- 54:05Speaker 7: this happened in this building. by somebody who no longer
- 54:08Speaker 7: works here. When I was sitting at my desk just
- 54:12Speaker 7: typing something out, is it green, yellow, or red light
- 54:14Speaker 7: behavior to take a sharpened pencil and put it down
- 54:18Speaker 7: the back of a girl's jeans?
- 54:20Speaker 4: And then do you rub it up and down?
- 54:21Speaker 7: Yeah, rub it up and down vigorously.
- 54:23Speaker 4: And ask, do you like that?
- 54:25Speaker 3: Well, if someone looks like Greg, I'd be okay. If
- 54:27Speaker 3: it's someone that looks like, you know, Tyler, it would be.
- 54:30Speaker 5: And are you dropping the pencil down the ass crack
- 54:33Speaker 5: because the ass crack is exposed?
- 54:34Speaker 6: No. No.
- 54:35Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 54:35Speaker 5: You just go hunt for it?
- 54:36Speaker 7: Yeah, go hunt for it. And then you make a
- 54:39Speaker 7: big deal about how funny you are.
- 54:40Speaker 8: Well, going to Woody's question, is the person hot or
- 54:44Speaker 8: are they not?
- 54:45Speaker 4: True.
- 54:45Speaker 7: They're fine, but I'm not trying to date them.
- 54:49Speaker 8: Then not hot.
- 54:50Speaker 5: They're okay.
- 54:51Speaker 4: Guilty.
- 54:52Speaker 5: Yeah, guilty.
- 54:53Speaker 4: All right. I would never think to do that.
- 54:55Speaker 6: You wouldn't?
- 54:55Speaker 4: No.
- 54:56Speaker 5: Yeah, because you're a decent human being.
- 54:58Speaker 3: Well, no, I wouldn't do it. Even around the... I
- 54:59Speaker 3: told you, ever since the Me Too thing sprung up
- 55:01Speaker 3: and everybody's... It used to be very common where somebody
- 55:05Speaker 3: you'd see, they go, oh, hi. They come in for
- 55:07Speaker 3: the hug. I always extend my hand for the handshake.
- 55:10Speaker 3: And they go, I'm a hugger. At that point, none of.
- 55:15Speaker 4: It bothers me.
- 55:16Speaker 3: The hug, the handshake doesn't bother me. But I am
- 55:18Speaker 3: not just going in for the hug or I'm putting
- 55:20Speaker 3: my hand out to make it clear that, hey, I
- 55:22Speaker 3: extended my hand for the handshake. If you say I'm
- 55:24Speaker 3: a hugger and you come in for the hug, that's
- 55:26Speaker 3: on you.
- 55:26Speaker 5: That's on you.
- 55:27Speaker 4: But what if you give them the warning, like, I'm
- 55:29Speaker 4: a groper, you know?
- 55:31Speaker 6: Are you a hugger?
- 55:32Speaker 4: Cool, I'm a groper.
- 55:33Speaker 5: I'm a patient bonerer.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Right.
- 55:35Speaker 3: So code of conduct. What's the next one?
- 55:37Speaker 5: Well, let's go right to hug then.
- 55:38Speaker 4: Hug.
- 55:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:38Speaker 1: All right.
- 55:39Speaker 3: I'm going to say they're going to say hug is
- 55:41Speaker 3: probably red.
- 55:43Speaker 9: Red.
- 55:45Speaker 5: Because this is the company saying.
- 55:46Speaker 3: This, right?
- 55:46Speaker 4: I took the training and I don't remember.
- 55:48Speaker 5: Well, yeah, because you don't have to answer any of
- 55:49Speaker 5: these correctly. You just click through until it just says no.
- 55:51Speaker 7: I took it on mute.
- 55:52Speaker 4: I have no idea. Me too. I haven't heard it yet.
- 55:54Speaker 4: I only took it.
- 55:55Speaker 3: You better be careful with those hugs. A hug is
- 55:57Speaker 3: yellow light behavior.
- 55:59Speaker 17: Before giving someone a hug or touching a person in
- 56:02Speaker 17: any way in a work environment, you should ask yourself.
- 56:05Speaker 17: Could the touching be interpreted as sexual?
- 56:07Speaker 3: Well, if I'm like hugging them from behind and pushing
- 56:10Speaker 3: my boner up against them. And going. That could be.
- 56:13Speaker 8: And the reverse cuff.
- 56:15Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 56:15Speaker 3: Or like, let's just say someone has like really great breasts, Greg.
- 56:18Speaker 3: You know, like you go in for the hug and
- 56:19Speaker 3: you just want to feel them pressed against your chest.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Smush them up against you. And then they're about to
- 56:24Speaker 4: let go and you go, uh-uh.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Good morning.
- 56:26Speaker 4: Keep going.
- 56:27Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 56:28Speaker 4: All right.
- 56:30Speaker 5: What's next?
- 56:31Speaker 4: All right. This one.
- 56:33Speaker 5: Standing too close.
- 56:35Speaker 4: Oh. Yeah.
- 56:36Speaker 3: Like close talkers.
- 56:37Speaker 14: This is the funniest one in my mind because now
- 56:40Speaker 14: we have to think about the distance we are close.
- 56:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Okay. So just standing too close.
- 56:46Speaker 4: Hovering.
- 56:47Speaker 5: Is this red, green, or yellow? I do love this
- 56:49Speaker 5: question because the close talkers, man.
- 56:53Speaker 3: I'm going to say that's yellow because that depends, right?
- 56:57Speaker 4: It's kind of subjective, right?
- 56:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll say yellow.
- 57:01Speaker 17: Standing too close to someone is red light behavior.
- 57:04Speaker 3: What?
- 57:05Speaker 17: Indeed, some people purposely stand very close to others so
- 57:08Speaker 17: that they can accidentally bump into them.
- 57:11Speaker 3: Brush your hand.
- 57:12Speaker 4: Whoopsie.
- 57:14Speaker 3: Accidentally drag my tongue across your neck. Weirdo. By accident.
- 57:20Speaker 4: Yeah, just by accident.
- 57:21Speaker 17: In this manner, they can enjoy the contact or close
- 57:24Speaker 17: proximity or perhaps the feeling of power over the person.
- 57:28Speaker 17: At the same time, They can claim that they didn't
- 57:30Speaker 17: mean anything by it or that the touching was an accident.
- 57:33Speaker 3: So I said, is this training turning anybody else on?
- 57:37Speaker 8: This one was more difficult because the past ones, it
- 57:40Speaker 8: was like. you know, if it was the old white dude,
- 57:42Speaker 8: he always, he was always doing something wrong. So you
- 57:45Speaker 8: can just like, did he do something wrong?
- 57:46Speaker 3: And say, yeah, well, it was the white guy. So
- 57:48Speaker 3: of course, man.
- 57:49Speaker 6: Yes.
- 57:50Speaker 4: White.
- 57:50Speaker 9: Yes.
- 57:51Speaker 8: Yeah. Yeah.
- 57:52Speaker 4: All right.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Give me one more. All right.
- 57:54Speaker 4: How about this one?
- 57:55Speaker 5: Uh, menace is favorite massages at the office. Red light,
- 57:58Speaker 5: yellow light.
- 57:59Speaker 3: Uh, Every once in a while, they have the chair
- 58:03Speaker 3: massage people coming in.
- 58:05Speaker 7: That's really nice. They're professionals.
- 58:07Speaker 4: That's from Mother's Day.
- 58:08Speaker 5: You're just sitting in your chair at your desk. Here
- 58:10Speaker 5: comes Greg with his hands.
- 58:13Speaker 3: In general, though, if standing too close is red, that's
- 58:16Speaker 3: got to be red, right?
- 58:18Speaker 7: Yeah, if Menace just comes up and he's like, what
- 58:19Speaker 7: do you look tense?
- 58:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 58:22Speaker 17: Massaging a co-worker's shoulders is red light behavior. Even if
- 58:25Speaker 17: the recipient welcomes the massage, the behavior doesn't belong in
- 58:29Speaker 17: a professional workplace.
- 58:30Speaker 3: But if I work at Massage Envy.
- 58:32Speaker 4: Yeah, then what?
- 58:41Speaker 17: As the people that report to them may not feel
- 58:43Speaker 17: comfortable asking them to stop.
- 58:45Speaker 3: What a good productive use of time and work.
- 58:48Speaker 5: Two hours of this?
- 58:50Speaker 7: Minimum.
- 58:51Speaker 14: You're missing some of the light racism yet. We haven't
- 58:53Speaker 14: got even into that. And then the creepy bosses that
- 58:56Speaker 14: want you to go out and F the clients.
- 58:58Speaker 4: There's so much more. All right. Well, let's take the break.
- 59:01Speaker 4: You have more clips? We do.
- 59:03Speaker 6: A lot more learning.
- 59:04Speaker 4: All right.
- 59:04Speaker 3: So we'll do some more learning. We'll see. I want
- 59:06Speaker 3: to hear about the creepy client.
- 59:09Speaker 4: Allegedly. You will F him. Allegedly.
- 59:11Speaker 5: We don't know.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't know. Maybe that's cool.
- 59:13Speaker 5: Could be green light.
- 59:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:15Speaker 8: Are we trying to close the deal or not?
- 59:17Speaker 12: Right.
- 59:17Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly. Gotta please the client.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Yeah, whatever happened to hookers and cocaine?
- 59:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:22Speaker 8: Oh, I've been around that for sure.
- 59:23Speaker 4: I know. All right.
- 59:24Speaker 3: More of what he shows next.
- 59:25Speaker 6: Hang on.
- 59:26Speaker 8: Smells like b-hole.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Smells like b-hole.
- 59:29Speaker 4: The Woody Show. I'll be right back.
- 59:32Speaker 5: This is The Woody Show.
- 59:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I was just looking.
- 59:37Speaker 3: I guess today is the last day that I have
- 59:43Speaker 3: to complete this training.
- 59:45Speaker 4: You better start now.
- 59:46Speaker 3: It's weird that I just got the eBay. It just
- 59:48Speaker 3: came through maybe 10 minutes ago. So while we were
- 59:52Speaker 3: discussing all the other ones about hugging and massaging.
- 59:55Speaker 7: Just set aside four hours and get it done.
- 59:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Jeff, what was the one that you were talking about?
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Was it the date?
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:03Speaker 12: The creepy client?
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:05Speaker 14: So we'll set up the scenario here. First of all,
- 1:00:08Speaker 14: there's a client that meets someone at this fake conference
- 1:00:11Speaker 14: that they put out.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: And he wants to.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Go out with one of the reps.
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: Listen to this.
- 1:00:15Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: So this is the employee training that we all have
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: to do here at the radio station. This took over
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: two hours for people to complete. And it's all this
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: dumb stuff, code of conduct training. And it's what's going
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: to make this a better workplace. So, yeah, here's the scenario. Tracy,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: my favorite part of these conferences, seeing my best client rep.
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: What's up, Alex?
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: My session is just about to start.
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: Oh, I won't keep you.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: Just wanted to lock you down for dinner tonight.
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: You, me, someplace nice.
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: Oh, I've got a pretty packed schedule.
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: You can spare one dinner.
- 1:00:47Speaker 17: Alex, I don't think it's a good idea.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: Come on.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: I couldn't control myself. I'd climb you like a tree.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: So this is the client trying to hit on the rep.
- 1:00:58Speaker 14: And so, you know, if that happens, according to this
- 1:01:00Speaker 14: harassment training, you're supposed to go to your boss and
- 1:01:02Speaker 14: let him know that you're not really cool with that.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: That the client is hitting on you.
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: We know situations like this.
- 1:01:09Speaker 8: Guess what happens?
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: And let me tell you, you're not cool with that
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: because he's not attractive.
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: Right. Exactly.
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: That's the rule. That's part of the process.
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: You guys are obsessed with how these dudes look.
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: Well, no, because that's... I just put myself in these
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: women's positions. Wow. You got one mode.
- 1:01:27Speaker 14: But what happens when your boss is as much of
- 1:01:29Speaker 14: a perv as the client is?
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: Yeah, then what? Listen to this. All right.
- 1:01:32Speaker 7: Alex just asked me to dinner again.
- 1:01:35Speaker 9: Perfect.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: Where are you going to go?
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: I don't want to offend him, but I'm just not
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: really interested in going out to dinner with a client.
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: You are tonight.
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: Yeah. Do you want to keep your job? Yeah. Have
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: you seen those third quarter numbers? Yeah.
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: We've got to close this deal.
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: You're going to do a lot more than just dinner.
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:01:50Speaker 17: This just feels like it would be more of a date.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: And I'm not really interested in going out on a
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: date or anything like a date with a client.
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: Do what you want.
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: But keep in mind, we're going to be looking for
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: someone to fill that team lead spot.
- 1:02:05Speaker 9: Woo!
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: It wouldn't hurt to show you're dedicated.
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: Yeah, we need a real go-getter.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: Someone enthusiastic.
- 1:02:13Speaker 8: Lisa, you know how to fix this. You just hire
- 1:02:17Speaker 8: a pro to go take out the client.
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: Have you ever heard of a do-whatever-it-takes kind of attitude?
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: That's what we're looking for.
- 1:02:23Speaker 7: I thought you were a closer.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: That's what we're looking for in a tech.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: You raise a good point. Why not pay, I don't know,
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: how much, $ 500 or whatever, $ 1, 000 to hire a professional
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: to And then have her, during the middle of your dinner,
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: come up and start flirting with the client.
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: I don't know anybody who's ever done that before.
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: No.
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: Ever. No.
- 1:02:41Speaker 8: Your hands are clean.
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: Everyone's happy.
- 1:02:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: I don't know anybody who's done that. Or is that
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: in this training?
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:02:47Speaker 14: So besides the sexual harassment, there's a bunch of stuff
- 1:02:50Speaker 14: on racism, too, including accents.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: And this is pretty funny.
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: All right. Here we go. More of our.
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: This has got to count towards some of my... You'd
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: think so, but no. I'm going through it here.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: I'm getting all right.
- 1:03:02Speaker 15: There's one other thing about the top candidate for the
- 1:03:04Speaker 15: project manager role. She's got a pretty noticeable accent. I
- 1:03:08Speaker 15: had no issue with understanding her and neither did the
- 1:03:11Speaker 15: hiring committee, but she's obviously from another country.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: She is from Germany.
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: Is she from Germany?
- 1:03:19Speaker 8: So what's the issue?
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: I'm wanting her to talk at the conference.
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: Did she play in Munich? On account of being from Germany.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: I'm wondering if.
- 1:03:26Speaker 15: That will create problems with the team she's going to lead.
- 1:03:29Speaker 15: And given that concern, I think it may be better
- 1:03:32Speaker 15: to select someone else.
- 1:03:34Speaker 17: Could not hiring the top candidate because of her accent
- 1:03:37Speaker 17: violate the law?
- 1:03:38Speaker 12: What do you think, Woody?
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: This is not racism. This is just bigotry.
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: Voicism? Voicism, yes.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Not hiring, you know, okay. Well, didn't we already, we
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: kind of had that, right? Like we were not hiring
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: the best candidate because, like it was the opposite, right? Like,
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: wasn't that the whole DEI thing?
- 1:04:00Speaker 9: Oh, oh.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: You mean in life we already had that? I thought
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: you meant we already had that in training.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: No, I'm saying that people were hiring people who weren't
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: necessarily the best, most qualified.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: Put yourself in the position of somebody taking this training
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: where the answers are very obvious.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: What do you think? Very obvious answer. I think you're
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: going to say that's a problem.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: Very obvious answer.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: They're probably going to say it's.
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: A problem, right?
- 1:04:21Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: I would think.
- 1:04:22Speaker 17: Although the candidate's accent is very noticeable... It doesn't appear
- 1:04:26Speaker 17: that her accent will interfere with her ability to do
- 1:04:29Speaker 17: her job. Employers can require an employee to speak English
- 1:04:32Speaker 17: fluently if fluency is needed to do their job.
- 1:04:35Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:04:36Speaker 14: And that'll lead us up to the last and final one,
- 1:04:38Speaker 14: which is the most hilarious one in my mind.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: Listen to this.
- 1:04:43Speaker 14: It's about speaking Spanish at work.
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: You know, Luis and Sam on my team, they both
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: speak Spanish pretty much every day at lunch, and it
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: really gets on my nerves. I usually eat at my desk,
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: but I've noticed it whenever I go in the break
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: room when they're having lunch. I think it's rude that
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: they speak a language most of us can't understand when
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: both of them can easily speak English.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: And who knows?
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: They could be making fun of me or other people.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: They are.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: It's damaging to our team around. So I'm going to
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: announce tomorrow that from now on, everyone has to speak
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: English at all times in our workplace.
- 1:05:14Speaker 17: Could ordering everyone to speak English at all times at
- 1:05:17Speaker 17: work violate the law?
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: So everybody's arguing for people to be made fun of
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: in the workplace is what it sounds like. They get
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: to make fun of you.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: That's not cool either, dudes.
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: Come on.
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: I'd imagine that might be a problem.
- 1:05:34Speaker 8: I did work at a place, though, like this where
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: it was mandatory to speak English.
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: I did, too.
- 1:05:39Speaker 7: I worked in a place where they made it very
- 1:05:41Speaker 7: clear no speaking other languages at work.
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: That is wild. Yeah.
- 1:05:44Speaker 17: Employers should not demand that employees speak English at all
- 1:05:47Speaker 17: times in the workplace, including when they are on their
- 1:05:50Speaker 17: lunch break. Employers can institute an English-only rule, but only
- 1:05:54Speaker 17: if it is necessary to ensure the safe or efficient
- 1:05:57Speaker 17: operation of the business and is justified by business necessity.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:06:01Speaker 7: The CEO I worked for thought it was annoying and
- 1:06:04Speaker 7: he said just English.
- 1:06:05Speaker 8: I worked at an electronics store and they're like, yeah.
- 1:06:08Speaker 8: English only, and the only other rule was no curry
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: in the microwave. Straight up. That's legit.
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: That was the rule.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: Well, I think we really.
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: Learned a lot.
- 1:06:20Speaker 7: Yeah, made some headway here.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: I'm going to still give massages. I don't care what
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: they say. And I'm going to go speak Spanish wildly
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: in the hallways right now.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: I think I'm banging that client, depending on what my
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: numbers look like. Now, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: what I'd like you to do here is put your
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: hands together and please welcome our tech reporter. He is
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: Rich on Tech. He hosts the Rich on Tech radio show.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: You can subscribe to his free newsletter. Yes, free newsletter
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: at richontech.tv. You can find him on social media at
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: Rich on Tech. Can I say it anymore? Rich on Tech, everybody. Yay!
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: Rich!
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: Hello! Thanks for having me back. I've always appreciated it.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: I love you, Rich.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: Yeah, well, you know what?
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: I learned a lot just from following you on Instagram.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: I see a lot of stuff that I'm like, huh.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: Because I was just thinking about this recently, and then...
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: It's almost how your phone listens and starts suggesting things
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: to you. Like one of the things that Rich had
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: mentioned recently on his feed was the finding subscriptions that
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: you forgot you were paying for.
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: Oh, do it. Do it now.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Which because I know like if you go on, if
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: you have Apple and I know CBass, like you're not
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: an Apple guy, but when you have Apple, you can
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: go into your like Apple, whatever, then your profile and
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: you click subscriptions. That's one thing. But there's all these
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: other things that I know I've signed up for. And
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: they'll hit my credit card. And that's my, my reminder, like,
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: oh yeah, crap. I'm still paying for that.
- 1:07:50Speaker 7: When did I do that?
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:07:52Speaker 9: And by the time it's hit your credit card, that's
- 1:07:54Speaker 9: exactly what their evil plan is. It's like, get that
- 1:07:56Speaker 9: one extra month out of you. And you're like, oh yeah,
- 1:07:59Speaker 9: that's my reminder to cancel. And now they've already made
- 1:08:01Speaker 9: their money and they've paid for the entire thing, which
- 1:08:03Speaker 9: is fine.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: I mean, look, some of these things, you know, under
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: 10 bucks a month, whatever it is.
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: But yeah.
- 1:08:08Speaker 9: So people always ask me, they're like, Rich, how do
- 1:08:10Speaker 9: I find all these different places? And I did some research.
- 1:08:13Speaker 9: And yes, on Apple, they make it very easy. You
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: can go to Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions. Then
- 1:08:19Speaker 9: on Android, you can go to the Play Store. It's
- 1:08:22Speaker 9: a little more complicated. You tap your profile picture, then
- 1:08:25Speaker 9: Payments and Subscriptions, and then Subscriptions once again. And people
- 1:08:29Speaker 9: also think that deleting the app deletes the subscription.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: That does not happen.
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:35Speaker 9: But there are some cool other ways that can help
- 1:08:37Speaker 9: you track these down. So you've probably heard of Metamuse,
- 1:08:41Speaker 9: the AI agent from Meta. You can link up your finances.
- 1:08:45Speaker 9: I know it sounds scary, but you can use that
- 1:08:48Speaker 9: to track down your subscriptions and it will actually go
- 1:08:50Speaker 9: through and try to cancel them for you as well.
- 1:08:52Speaker 6: I'm going to let.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: Greg try that first. I'm going to have Greg link
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: his financial stuff to Canary in.
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: The coal mine.
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: Don't be no punk, Greg.
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: And if it works out for Greg, then I'll try it.
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: There's a tech podcast I listen to. It's called Group Chat.
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: It's really good.
- 1:09:07Speaker 8: And there's a guy on there. He said that he
- 1:09:09Speaker 8: put everything in there. All his finances are linked in Muse,
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: and he said it's like the best thing ever.
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: But do you trust that, Rich?
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: It's... I do.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: I've got all mine in ChatGBT. Your financials? Every single thing,
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: and it's incredible. Actually, I have it in two apps.
- 1:09:25Speaker 9: I've got ChatGBT and another one that I like.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: Wait, aren't you the same guy? You were telling us
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: that that was a bad idea to share personal information
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: with these AIs.
- 1:09:34Speaker 9: Well, here's the thing. I mean, look, you have to
- 1:09:36Speaker 9: decide if it's worth it for me.
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: It is number one.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: I was testing it and I, you know, went down
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: the rabbit.
- 1:09:42Speaker 9: Hole of putting everything in, but what's really neat about
- 1:09:44Speaker 9: ChatGBT is when you ask it a financial question, it
- 1:09:47Speaker 9: will go ahead and ping all of your accounts to
- 1:09:49Speaker 9: figure out if that's a good idea. So. For instance,
- 1:09:52Speaker 9: let's say you're trying to figure out if you want
- 1:09:54Speaker 9: to like move some money or get a different credit
- 1:09:57Speaker 9: card or something like that. It will look at your
- 1:09:59Speaker 9: accounts and say, okay, we see that you've got this
- 1:10:02Speaker 9: much here. If you move that to this account, it's
- 1:10:04Speaker 9: really not going to make you a whole lot of
- 1:10:06Speaker 9: extra interest or something like that. So it has that
- 1:10:09Speaker 9: kind of basis and perspective. Now, to some people, that
- 1:10:12Speaker 9: may not be a big idea, a big deal. For me,
- 1:10:15Speaker 9: it was mostly for filing expense reports and to kind
- 1:10:17Speaker 9: of track spending. You can say, like, we're doing like
- 1:10:20Speaker 9: this little remodel right now. But at the risk.
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: Of what, though? You're putting all your financial information to
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: save you a little bit of time on doing an
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: expense report. Meanwhile, You're giving all your actual banking stuff
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: information to an AI.
- 1:10:34Speaker 9: Well, you have to understand what the AI has access to.
- 1:10:38Speaker 9: And they get access to your transaction data.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: That's it.
- 1:10:41Speaker 9: They don't actually get access to, they can't move money
- 1:10:44Speaker 9: or anything like that. You know, whenever I go to
- 1:10:46Speaker 9: these events where I meet with these companies, I make
- 1:10:48Speaker 9: it a point of asking them like very nerdy, specific
- 1:10:52Speaker 9: questions about this.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Kind of stuff. There are issues and problems that can happen.
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: And yeah, people do get hacked.
- 1:10:58Speaker 9: But from what I've seen, 99% of the time when
- 1:11:01Speaker 9: people get hacked, it's actually they're getting tricked. And I
- 1:11:04Speaker 9: think that's a big thing that a lot of people
- 1:11:05Speaker 9: don't talk about is like more people are getting.
- 1:11:08Speaker 7: Tricked into giving their own information.
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: I tell you what I got, I will link my
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: financial information when, uh, you know, meta or, you know,
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: open AI. when they guarantee me that if something goes wrong,
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: they'll replenish my account.
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: Are they insured?
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:22Speaker 9: They don't even look, you know, the biggest thing that
- 1:11:24Speaker 9: people do, uh, where they use that Zelle, you know,
- 1:11:27Speaker 9: through all the big banks came up with Zelle to
- 1:11:29Speaker 9: kind of go up against Venmo because they hated losing
- 1:11:32Speaker 9: all of that, you know, uh, business basically. And if
- 1:11:35Speaker 9: you have a problem with Zelle, your bank is like, Oh, sorry,
- 1:11:38Speaker 9: like we're not going to help you out. Like nine
- 1:11:40Speaker 9: times out of 10, you know, you may get small
- 1:11:42Speaker 9: amounts back, but like realistically they say this is like
- 1:11:45Speaker 9: handing cash to someone and And by the way, these
- 1:11:47Speaker 9: are the banks that came up with this system. Like,
- 1:11:50Speaker 9: if they can't figure it out and keep it from
- 1:11:51Speaker 9: getting hacked, nobody can.
- 1:11:53Speaker 8: Sorry you were off by a digit.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: At Rich on Tech on social media, he hosts the
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: Rich on Tech radio show. Subscribe to his free newsletter
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: at richontech.tv. We were trying to help Sammy out here recently,
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: free up some space on her phone because she was, like,
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: out of, like, room.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: She couldn't do anything.
- 1:12:10Speaker 15: Yes.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: And we found some tips, and those helped her a lot.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: One of the things is always, like, cleaning up. your
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: camera roll. Now I know that you have another thing
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: that you've been using this app. I can't remember what
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: it's called, but something that can help clean up that
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: camera roll.
- 1:12:26Speaker 9: Yeah, I've got, well, I've mentioned in the past, the
- 1:12:28Speaker 9: one that I like called clever cleaner.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: And that one is really good.
- 1:12:32Speaker 9: It's, it's funny because it was completely free when I
- 1:12:35Speaker 9: first started talking about it. And then of course, as
- 1:12:37Speaker 9: more people started downloading it, They made it less free,
- 1:12:40Speaker 9: like where you're limited in how much you can use,
- 1:12:43Speaker 9: of course. But that one's really good. My biggest tip
- 1:12:47Speaker 9: is actually twofold. Number one, go and just delete a
- 1:12:51Speaker 9: couple of big video files that you no longer need.
- 1:12:53Speaker 9: There's typically a few of them on your phone that
- 1:12:55Speaker 9: you're like, oh, this is like, like my kids will
- 1:12:57Speaker 9: leave their iPad running for like seven hours or something.
- 1:13:01Speaker 9: And like, there's just, I guess I'm paying for all
- 1:13:02Speaker 9: this iCloud storage for like literally an iPad pointed out
- 1:13:06Speaker 9: our front window.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: People go into a concert and recording the whole damn
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: concert on their phone. Like you're never looking at it.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Just sitting there on your phone.
- 1:13:14Speaker 9: You'll never watch concert footage again. You'll never ever watch
- 1:13:18Speaker 9: fireworks footage. So just go ahead and eradicate both of
- 1:13:22Speaker 9: those from your phone. I mean, what was the last
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: time you showed someone video of fireworks on your phone?
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: Like, give me a break.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: The one tip that was really good when it came
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: to like the videos and the stuff like that, like memes, photos, videos,
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: where they're being stored in text messages. So any text
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: messages that you still have on your phone that you
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: just haven't deleted yet, it's still holding on to any,
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: and think about how many memes and stuff we send
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: back and forth or pictures or videos or things that
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: we send back and forth to friends, family, whatever. Just
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: eating up space. Yeah, that was a big space saver.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: But just in general, like on the camera roll, there
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: was another app though you were talking about.
- 1:13:55Speaker 9: Yeah, so the other app I really like, I was
- 1:13:57Speaker 9: going to get to it, but it's called Flick, F-L-I-C.
- 1:14:01Speaker 9: And this is a new one that I just discovered.
- 1:14:02Speaker 9: It's been around for a while, but they just recently
- 1:14:04Speaker 9: updated it with AI.
- 1:14:06Speaker 6: And I know.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: It's scary, but here's the thing.
- 1:14:08Speaker 9: They're actually using, and this is what I love about it,
- 1:14:10Speaker 9: they're using local AI. So nothing actually leaves your phone.
- 1:14:14Speaker 9: So they're doing all this processing to find blurry photos,
- 1:14:18Speaker 9: to find screenshots, to find large videos. They're doing it
- 1:14:21Speaker 9: all locally on your device, which means nothing's sent to
- 1:14:24Speaker 9: their cloud for processing.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: And they do it Tinder style.
- 1:14:27Speaker 9: So every day for free, you get up to 50
- 1:14:31Speaker 9: swipes and you can swipe left to delete it. You
- 1:14:33Speaker 9: can swipe right to keep it, or you can also...
- 1:14:36Speaker 9: favored it. So it's like really helping you kind of
- 1:14:39Speaker 9: manage your camera roll throughout the week instead of like
- 1:14:42Speaker 9: all of a sudden after like a year, you're like,
- 1:14:44Speaker 9: oh shoot, I'm out of iCloud storage.
- 1:14:46Speaker 6: Now what do I do?
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: This is more of like daily maintenance, which I really like.
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: Well, Rich DeMuro at Rich on Tech on social media.
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: I'm telling you, he posts videos all the time. I mean,
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: this is what he does full time work is his
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: just tech.
- 1:14:58Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: He's always talking tech. Subscribe to his free newsletter at
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: Rich on Tech TV. And of course, the podcast for
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: his very popular radio show. It's hosted on way more
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: stations than the Woody show could ever imagine.
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: It's crazy.
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: A ton of stations across the country. Find that wherever
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: you find your favorite podcasts. What we're going to do
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: is we're going to take a quick break, and then
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: we'll come back after the break and a little bit
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: more with Rich, including the gadget of the week.
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: The Woody Show.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: Our buddy Rich DeMuro at Rich on Tech on social media.
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: He's the host of the Rich on Tech radio show.
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: You can subscribe to his free newsletter at richontech.tv. And
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: he even does a thing like all the things that
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: he talks about when he's doing these appearances on our show.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: There's like a little section there, as mentioned on the
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: Woody show.
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: So it makes it even easier.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: Yeah, richontech.tv. Speaking of TV, before we get to the
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: gadget of the week, Rich, We were having this discussion
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: here recently, like everybody had cable or satellite and everybody, quote,
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: cut the cord. And then they started spending just as much,
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: if not more, because you had to have a billion
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: different apps to get all the different stuff. And now
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: another thing that Rich was mentioning is how people are
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: going and they're going back to free TV, like not
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: even like through apps. So just like over the years,
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: antenna kind of.
- 1:16:18Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: I mean, like whether they're digital receivers.
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:16:23Speaker 9: Well, we've come so full circle that there's a whole
- 1:16:25Speaker 9: generation of people like my kids that don't even realize
- 1:16:28Speaker 9: that you could.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: Put an antenna up and get channels over the air.
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Like I showed them this.
- 1:16:33Speaker 9: I showed them the radio and I showed them TV
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: antenna and their little minds were like blown.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: They're like, wait, you're just getting that out of thin air.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: And I was like, yeah, this is how it used
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: to be until we all went cable. So even when
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: you're in the car, you're listening to like a radio station.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: Where did they think that was coming from?
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: From the internet?
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: They just think it's like satellite or something. They have
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: no idea. Like they just don't, you know, like how
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: would you know unless you're told, right?
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: That's true.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Also kids are dumb. True.
- 1:16:58Speaker 8: I mean, kids are a blank slate.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: I mean, certainly blank. They start with zero knowledge.
- 1:17:05Speaker 9: And that's, you know, that's why parents just screw them
- 1:17:07Speaker 9: all up, you know?
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: Yeah. With all the stuff they say.
- 1:17:09Speaker 9: Anyway, yeah, so this started out as a segment on
- 1:17:12Speaker 9: my radio show. I interviewed this YouTuber. He goes by
- 1:17:15Speaker 9: The Antenna Man on YouTube. And he was just starting
- 1:17:18Speaker 9: to talk about, like, all these different antennas and stuff.
- 1:17:20Speaker 9: I'm like, hold on, let me try out these things.
- 1:17:22Speaker 9: I got a bunch of emails about it. People are like, yeah,
- 1:17:24Speaker 9: I love my antenna. So I ordered two of the
- 1:17:26Speaker 9: antennas that he mentioned. One of them was a $ 15
- 1:17:28Speaker 9: Phillips rabbit ears antenna. And then another one was $ 35
- 1:17:33Speaker 9: Channelmaster Flattenna.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: And I hooked them both up.
- 1:17:36Speaker 9: They brought in like 100 channels each right from my
- 1:17:39Speaker 9: little office. And, you know, five of them that I
- 1:17:42Speaker 9: actually want to watch. But still, you know, everyone's tastes
- 1:17:45Speaker 9: are different. But yeah, you can go to rabbit-ears.info, enter
- 1:17:49Speaker 9: your address, see what channels you can get, see where
- 1:17:52Speaker 9: to aim the antenna.
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: And that was the killer part.
- 1:17:54Speaker 7: What decade is this?
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: I know, right?
- 1:17:57Speaker 9: I have tested antennas before. I didn't realize that where
- 1:18:00Speaker 9: you aim them makes a difference.
- 1:18:01Speaker 15: Oh, yeah.
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: And so I used a little compass. Yeah, you got
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: to wiggle it around. You used to have, like, your
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: job as a kid, your parents would say, stand right there.
- 1:18:09Speaker 12: Don't move.
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: Yeah, or you holding the antenna would make a difference
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: because then you become part of the conductor.
- 1:18:15Speaker 8: I think you're talking about clarity versus... we were talking
- 1:18:18Speaker 8: about what you can receive, right?
- 1:18:19Speaker 9: Yeah. I mean, you could, well, it's just a matter
- 1:18:21Speaker 9: of like where, where you actually position it does make
- 1:18:24Speaker 9: a difference. You know, then of course we got into
- 1:18:26Speaker 9: the more discussion on, uh, on the radio and on
- 1:18:29Speaker 9: TV about, you know, DVRs that work, you know, back
- 1:18:32Speaker 9: in the day you had Devo. Now they have these
- 1:18:34Speaker 9: things called Tableau. You've got this zapper box. You've got
- 1:18:38Speaker 9: this other one called HD Home Run. So long story short,
- 1:18:41Speaker 9: I cannot believe how many people, this is probably at
- 1:18:44Speaker 9: this point, one of my most popular radio and TV segments.
- 1:18:48Speaker 9: And I don't know if it's just because people listening
- 1:18:49Speaker 9: are you know, they like the nostalgia of it all.
- 1:18:52Speaker 9: But people are commenting all over the place about how
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: much they love using the antenna.
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: Think about like everybody's going analog, right? Like they're going
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: dumb phone. They're going actual camera. Like there's, there's definitely that,
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: that whole movement.
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: Uh, rich gadget of the week.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: What do you got?
- 1:19:08Speaker 9: Uh, let's uh, let's call it the Alexa tablet. So
- 1:19:12Speaker 9: you've probably heard of the fire tablets from Amazon. These
- 1:19:14Speaker 9: were a lineup of very cheap, inexpensive tablets that, uh,
- 1:19:18Speaker 9: I was not a fan of because they were just,
- 1:19:21Speaker 9: you know, people always wanted something that was an alternative
- 1:19:23Speaker 9: to the iPad. And I said, no, just spend the
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: money on an iPad because it's just better, like everything
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: about it. Well, now Amazon, they've got this new guy
- 1:19:31Speaker 9: in charge of all their gadgets. He came over from Microsoft.
- 1:19:34Speaker 9: He is slowly but surely revamping everything and making it
- 1:19:37Speaker 9: a little bit higher quality. So now they have these
- 1:19:40Speaker 9: new Alexa tablets. They've got three sizes, 8-inch, 11-inch, 12-inch.
- 1:19:45Speaker 9: And I got to say, they are not only really well-designed...
- 1:19:49Speaker 9: Good software, although full of all the Amazon stuff, obviously.
- 1:19:53Speaker 9: But the key feature that's new is that Google Play
- 1:19:56Speaker 9: Store is now installed, which means you can put any
- 1:20:00Speaker 9: Android app on these tablets, which is something you could
- 1:20:03Speaker 9: not do before. And so wait for them to go
- 1:20:07Speaker 9: on sale. They start at around $ 200. They go all
- 1:20:09Speaker 9: the way up to about $ 600. But they are way better,
- 1:20:13Speaker 9: and I can actually recommend them. I've been playing with
- 1:20:15Speaker 9: the top-of-the-line one, and it looks great. It almost feels
- 1:20:18Speaker 9: like an iPad. And again, it's got all the Amazon services,
- 1:20:21Speaker 9: but you can also install the typical stuff like.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: Netflix and Chrome and YouTube and Gmail. Unlike before when
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: you couldn't do that. Now, fellas, imagine the small one
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: is eight inches. That's considered the small one.
- 1:20:34Speaker 7: Yeah, that's the mini micro mini.
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: Damn.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: Well, Rich DeMuro, everybody. At Rich on Tech on social media.
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: At Rich on Tech. He hosts the Rich on Tech
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: radio show. Check out the podcast wherever you get your
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: favorite podcasts, including the iHeartRadio app. You can subscribe to
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: his free newsletter at richontech.tv. Rich, thank you, my friend.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: Don't mind me. I've got to go change where my
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: antenna is.
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: Want to change the channel? Now you've got to move
- 1:20:59Speaker 5: the antenna. Got to get up.
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: All right, man.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: We appreciate you. Thank you. Well, it's Delivery Driver Appreciation
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: Week here on The Woody Show. And Menace met the
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: driver downstairs. We're going to bring him in now.
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: Oh, there he is.
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: What is your name, sir?
- 1:21:24Speaker 12: Isair, how you doing?
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: Isair, how you doing, man?
- 1:21:26Speaker 12: I'm doing great.
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: Well, happy.
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: It's a delivery driver appreciation week here on the show.
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: So we're just throwing out some extra gift cards to
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: delivery drivers who bring us stuff every day. How long
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: have you been doing this? How long have you been delivering?
- 1:21:37Speaker 12: I just started doing it like eight, nine months ago.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: Oh, nine months. And how's it going so far?
- 1:21:41Speaker 12: It's doing all right. I'm doing it for like, you know,
- 1:21:43Speaker 12: side hustle.
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: Yeah, it's perfect.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: A little side hustle. What else do you do? What
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: other kind of work do you do?
- 1:21:48Speaker 12: I actually go back and forth out of the country.
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 1:21:51Speaker 12: I got other things going on.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: He's got other things.
- 1:21:53Speaker 7: He's got other irons in the fire.
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: And he's got other deliveries from what I understand.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: So we're not going to take up a lot of
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: your time. Anyway, thank you for bringing everything.
- 1:21:59Speaker 5: That was a very quick delivery.
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: It was pretty good. A lot of people have a.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: Hard time navigating this office complex that we're in here.
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: All right, so on the wheel is a bunch of
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: different gift cards.
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: You spin it.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: Spin it towards you, like to the left. And then
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: whatever it lands on is what you're going to get.
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: All right, here we go.
- 1:22:14Speaker 7: Hard, hard, hard.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: There you go.
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: Nice.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: That's a good quality spin. A guy who's never spun
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: that wheel before.
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: That's really strong.
- 1:22:23Speaker 7: And I'm loving his outfit, by the way. All right.
- 1:22:26Speaker 12: Very cute. Come on.
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: Big money. Big money.
- 1:22:29Speaker 12: Come on.
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: Come on.
- 1:22:30Speaker 12: Big money.
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: Big money.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 1:22:33Speaker 8: Let's do this.
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: Come on.
- 1:22:34Speaker 12: Come on.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: Come on. Come on.
- 1:22:35Speaker 6: Come on.
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: Come on. What do we got? What do we got?
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: It's a $ 50 Amazon gift card. $ 50 Amazon gift card
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: in case there's any issue with the gift card. This
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: is a little receipt that when you call to find
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: out what's going on, they're going to ask you for
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: that information.
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: There you go.
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: I want to make sure you know so you don't
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: tear that part off.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: Hey, dude, thank you so much. Happy Delivery Driver Appreciation Week.
- 1:22:59Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: I love your hoodie.
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: You want to shout anybody out while you're here?
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: Any friends, family, anything?
- 1:23:04Speaker 12: I don't have a lot of friends.
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: Not a lot of friends.
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: No, he's a lone wolf.
- 1:23:07Speaker 7: That's so sexy.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: Hey, we'll be your friends.
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: Thank you. Nice to meet you. Thank you very much.
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: All right, there you go.
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: There's a delivery driver.
- 1:23:13Speaker 11: Success.
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: Appreciation success.
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: Love it.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: Another gift card out the door.
- 1:23:18Speaker 7: He plays it close to the vest out here.
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so I was like, oh, we can't hear him. Well,
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: I mean, these aren't professionals when it comes to being
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: in here in these studios with these microphones. As much
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: as we try to say, like, you got to talk
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: right into the microphone.
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: He could drift.
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: He's a delivery guy.
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: Hold him in here with.
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: No advanced training.
- 1:23:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: All right, so speaking of food, this woman, she is
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: suing Torchy's Tacos in Austin.
- 1:23:43Speaker 7: Oh, no. For $ 250, 000.
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: Jeez. After she nearly swallowed a cow's tooth. That was
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: in her takeout taco.
- 1:23:53Speaker 7: I saw this. A cow's tooth is disgusting looking. Way
- 1:23:57Speaker 7: worse than ours.
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: I never would have thought that's even a possibility.
- 1:23:59Speaker 7: Yeah, I saw this picture.
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: So she bit into her barbacoa taco, felt something hard,
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: spat out this large tooth. Her lawyer was doing all
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: this stuff. Torchy's Tacos confirmed that it was indeed a
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: cow tooth.
- 1:24:13Speaker 7: Don't you love when they're like, oh yeah, our bad.
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: And they say that their barbacoa comes from natural beef cheek.
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: And the chain says that this can occasionally happen during processing.
- 1:24:23Speaker 8: Oh, my God.
- 1:24:24Speaker 9: Wow.
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: But she wants... I.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: Mean, did she break a tooth? I understand it's gross, but...
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: She wants $ 250, 000. But a quarter of a million dollars
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: for something gross?
- 1:24:34Speaker 7: You just give her a free taco.
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like when you buy lettuce or whatever in
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: the bag, and every once in a while there's like a...
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: You know, fly or bugs, something like that in there.
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: You're supposed to rinse your taco before you eat it.
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: I mean, ladies, I'm sure you don't want a tooth
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: in your taco.
- 1:24:49Speaker 7: Do not want it. That's why you rinse your taco
- 1:24:52Speaker 7: before you eat it.
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: If it broke a tooth, then sure.
- 1:24:55Speaker 7: Yeah, but $ 250, 000 tooth or your teeth may fall off.
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: A little hyperbolic. Yeah, that's a little much.
- 1:25:01Speaker 7: They are gross, though.
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: There's a war going on to neighboring gas stations in Georgia.
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: There's a... An Amoco and a Sunoco. And they got
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: into a price war that bottomed out at 97 cents
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: a gallon.
- 1:25:15Speaker 7: Hell yes.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Rules.
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: So how and why are they doing this?
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: Because, I mean, that can't be a moneymaker, right?
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: Well, the one place has a policy where they have
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: to be five cents below the other place.
- 1:25:28Speaker 7: Oh, that's funny.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: Like, I think the one place just wants to be
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: five cents below, you know, whatever Sunoco is charging.
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: So AMCO's like, oh.
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: Yeah, so they got like a gas war going on.
- 1:25:40Speaker 7: So basically, Sunoco's just trolling them by going, oh, you
- 1:25:43Speaker 7: got to go lower than this.
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: Well, I mean, how does that work out for them?
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: Because they got to be losing money too, right?
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just fair.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: So word spread about this battle. The traffic got gridlocked
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: there in the street. The police showed up. They shut
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: it down.
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: Oh, come on.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: But as you can imagine, while it lasted, man, people
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: were pumped. We were in September.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: It was 254.
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: Then it went down again.
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: Then it went down again.
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: When we pulled in, it was 144. $ 139.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: I call my mama, sister, my brother.
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: Yes!
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: Look at God, baby! Look at God!
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: Yeah, she was pumped.
- 1:26:13Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 1:26:14Speaker 7: I'd bring extra containers.
- 1:26:16Speaker 4: So the consumer gets a great deal, and they shut
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: it down.
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: Shut it down.
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: How stupid.
- 1:26:21Speaker 8: I never see them shutting down the Costco, and there's
- 1:26:25Speaker 8: crazy traffic there.
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: Another woman filled her truck for 15 bucks instead of
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: the usual $ 90. What decade is this? And says, quote,
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: it's like Christmas.
- 1:26:34Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: Both stations reset their prices the next day, so the
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: greatest gas sale in modern history lasted exactly one day.
- 1:26:42Speaker 8: What's the cheapest gas you can remember in your life,
- 1:26:46Speaker 8: even as a kid?
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: It was like 90-some cents.
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I think mine was like 89 cents.
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it was like 80.
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: 90-some cents, 1998 in Missouri.
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: Whoa.
- 1:26:57Speaker 7: For $ 2, I could get a decent, you know, I
- 1:26:59Speaker 7: could get home and back a few times.
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: Mine was like 89.
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: Yeah, something like that.
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: Yeah, 1989 and then 87.
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: Oh, 1989. Yeah. Oh, okay.
- 1:27:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: Mine was, I got to do math, 86?
- 1:27:11Speaker 5: 1987.
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: So you're talking about the, okay, when you say 86,
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: I'm thinking 86 cents a gallon. Well, no, in 87,
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: I remember when I got my license, the car that
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: I was driving just took regular and it was 89
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: cents a gallon. Oh, okay.
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:27:26Speaker 4: Crazy. I know.
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: Yesteryear, dude.
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: And I also grew up in this town where there
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: were four gas stations on one corner. And some of
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: them had remarkably lower prices than the other. And they
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: were all full. I'm like, do you not see that
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: it's cheaper right there? Why are you right next door?
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but you're going this way. We've talked about how
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: we worked down the street from there were like a
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: Starbucks on three out of the four corners.
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: Yeah, it was like that, but with gas stations.
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: You gotta go to the good one.
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: Do I say appreciation wrong?
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: Will you say it again?
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: Appreciation?
- 1:27:54Speaker 7: I guess it's because you're saying appreciation, not appreciation.
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: Appreciation?
- 1:27:58Speaker 4: Okay, say it normally, the way you say it.
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: So Delivery Driver Appreciation Week. Appreciation.
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: You do say appreciation.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: I do?
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: Appreciation.
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: Say appreciation. Appreciate.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: No.
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: Oh, you do say it wrong.
- 1:28:12Speaker 7: You do say it weird.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: So what is it?
- 1:28:13Speaker 7: Appreciate.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: Appreciate?
- 1:28:15Speaker 7: Not appreciate.
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: I'm never going to say that.
- 1:28:17Speaker 8: You don't have to say appreciate.
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: You don't have to do it like that.
- 1:28:20Speaker 8: Just slow it down. Just say appreciate. There you go.
- 1:28:27Speaker 7: That's how you do it.
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: Grammar Nazi menace.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:28:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: Let him live.
- 1:28:31Speaker 7: Say, I appreciate you.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: I appreciate you. Appreciate. Yeah.
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: He's got like a dozen words that are like that
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: He talks all mumble mouth and stupid.
- 1:28:40Speaker 4: Appreciate.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: I'm not mumble mouthing that one. I guess I just
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: don't say it.
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: No, but Menace is totally right. Say it slowly. Yeah.
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: The way I say it?
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: Appreciate.
- 1:28:50Speaker 7: Say it even slower and say E instead of E.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: Appreciate.
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: Appreciate.
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: No, don't say prish.
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: You did.
- 1:28:56Speaker 12: You did.
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: Appreciate.
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: He said appreciate. He sure did.
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: Pre-she, but I'm thinking pre-she-ate.
- 1:29:02Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: That was correct. Yeah.
- 1:29:04Speaker 7: Like she.
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: And like pre. All right.
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: Who knew?
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: Pre-she-ate. There's a word.
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: Words are hard.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: They are. Why are you so obsessed?
- 1:29:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 1:29:15Speaker 8: I feel you, dude.
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: You know what he means.
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: Don't say pre-she-ate. You say thanks.
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: It's appreciation.
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: Think about this.
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: I mean, in all.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: The years, this is the first... person that's ever brought
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: it to my attention.
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: I had no idea. See, that's what I've been saying.
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: When you hear people say stuff incorrectly, be vocal about it.
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: Bring it up all the time. Just constantly bring it up.
- 1:29:40Speaker 7: Twilight Zone right now.
- 1:29:42Speaker 8: Even though you know what they're saying, just... Stop them.
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: You correct them and they will appreciate you.
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: They'll be kind and thoughtful about it.
- 1:29:50Speaker 6: Oh, thank you.
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: I didn't know that.
- 1:29:52Speaker 7: Much appreciation.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: I will appreciate you.
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: There you go.
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: I'll pre-she.
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: Like a guy who wants to become a woman, he's
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: a pre-she.
- 1:30:03Speaker 5: Appreciate.
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: That's how you say it.
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: 877-44. I just had no idea.
- 1:30:11Speaker 8: Legit.
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: I didn't know you said it all stupidly either. Me neither.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: Text over to 22987. We'll be right back. Here we go.
- 1:30:16Speaker 9: Okay. One, two, three, four.
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: The Woody Show. Greg is one of the We've heard
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: a few entries from this already. We've been kind of
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: following along. He had a semester abroad.
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: Yes, in Cambridge, England. Yes.
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: 1992.
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: Yeah. Nice.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: And so Greg was, I mean, he was journaling all
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: kinds of stuff. So besides this and your Brady Bunch,
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: as you were watching episodes of the Brady Bunch and
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: journaling those.
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: I think that was it and the only reason I
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: did this is because before I went on this trip
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: a friend of mine gave this to me and she
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: put on the cover Greg's trip to England so I
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: thought well I can't come back with a blank book
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: wow so I started writing everything down and then I
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: think at this point because we've gone through a few
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: entries it's starting to get like to reveal how insecure
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: I am how bizarre I am and how I became
- 1:31:42Speaker 4: fond of the drink maybe it was in England I
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: kind of blame that. It's England's fault.
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: So you were there to study for the semester.
- 1:31:53Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:31:54Speaker 4: The place you're living in, just like a dorm? It
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: was a dorm. Kind of thing? Many of the people
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: were in there. At Cambridge University, there's King's College, there's
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: Queen's College. They had the dorms at Queen's College. And
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: then you just walked to all your classes from there.
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: And it was these mega old-timey dorms. So you opened
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: up the closet and there would be a sink in there.
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: Ew, weird.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: It was strange. And then you had like a, I
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: had a double room, like one with a bed and
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: then a different room was a room with a couch
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: and chairs.
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: Like a chill room?
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: Yeah, kind of, but it was mega old timey.
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: So even as a kid, were you kind of, I mean, bougie, snobby?
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: Based on my writing, yes, but I didn't feel that way.
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: You didn't feel that way?
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: I didn't.
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: No, but then when I, the more I read this,
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: I think I sound kind of judgmental.
- 1:32:41Speaker 9: Nice.
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: And kind of, I do sound bougie.
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: But the way he writes though, he's a great writer.
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: He's always been a good writer. Like when he's, you know,
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: describing things, he's always really good at describing. Like when
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: you have a taste test or something, Greg is very good.
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: Well, you're too generous.
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: And so the way, the way he weaves words. You know,
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: into this journal. It's not just like a little shorthand.
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: I mean, he's really putting some thought in the way
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: these things sound.
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: Even though nobody's ever going to read it. Until today.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: We're reading it now. Another entry.
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: Greg's lost and found journal from his semester abroad at Cambridge.
- 1:33:12Speaker 4: I'm going to read this verbatim. July 13th, Monday. I
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: just wrote nine postcards, and I don't know how I
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: have the patience or energy to write, but it's been
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: so long, and I need to recall most of what's
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: happened since Friday.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: On Friday, Del, Kim, and Cammie and I went to
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: listen to the King's College Chapel Choir before dinner. Incredible.
- 1:33:33Speaker 4: Then went to the disco, which was a blast. We
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: got quite drunk and danced a lot, spilled our guts
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: as to how cool we think we all are. That
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: was interesting. Then we went to my room and broke
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: my bed when we all sat on it to take pictures.
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: Then somebody dropped and broke a piece of paper. Then
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: somebody dropped and broke a piece off of my camera,
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: but I was too drunk to care. Nice. I ended
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: up sleeping in Del's room, and he slept in Kim
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: and Cammie's room. That was nice of him. The next morning,
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: we took a cab to Cambridge train station and journeyed
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: off to Bath.
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: Oh, you journeyed.
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: We stayed in a gross YMCA, but it was okay.
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: That night, we got pizza and had a heated debate
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: about life after death. It started to pour, so we
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: all huddled under my small umbrella. We also had gone
- 1:34:24Speaker 4: on some stupid entertainment tour. That set me back three pounds.
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: Of course, there was a mention of how much that cost.
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: Right? On Sunday, 7-12, we went to, I can't make
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: out this word, Avebury and Stonehenge. Sure, let's go with Avebury.
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: After going on a great historical tour of Bath, at Stonehenge,
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: Cammie asked some Italian chick if she was a Kappa,
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: because she was wearing a Kappa sweatshirt. She didn't speak English.
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: And about 30 Italians were all staring at us and
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: talking about how Cammy was so funny. And then we
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: had great pasta dinner and headed back for Cambridge. Well,
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: I think we need to explain what Kappa is. It's
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: a clothing brand.
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: But also a sorority.
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: Oh, I didn't know it was a clothing brand. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: I remember when I was summering in Oxford, I bought
- 1:35:08Speaker 5: a pair of Kappa shorts. Summering and out-summering. Was everybody
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: summering and doing semesters abroad?
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: I did.
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: And the outline, the logo, was two hot chicks back-to-back.
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: Nice. Okay, so that jogs my memory because I remember
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: Kami going... Are you a Kappa? Because she was a
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: Kappa Sigma or whatever the hell she was. This weekend
- 1:35:28Speaker 4: was cool, but ambiguous for me. I kept on complimenting everybody,
- 1:35:32Speaker 4: but sometimes I felt like I didn't get much back.
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: I have to stop hoping that I am liked because
- 1:35:40Speaker 4: I think I am.
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: Oh, Greg.
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: Isn't that weird?
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: Isn't that stupid? Well, you know what?
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: I mean, you've held on to that well into adulthood.
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: You still have that same.
- 1:35:50Speaker 8: Greg, you are loved.
- 1:35:51Speaker 4: This is the documentation of my mental downfall, I think.
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: I just met a woman the other day at my
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: son's hockey game who loves the show. Loves Greg. Wishes
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: that Greg was straight.
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: Uh-huh.
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Gina was there.
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: I was there.
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: I saw her. Yeah, met her babe.
- 1:36:05Speaker 7: She's a fan.
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: Sorry to let her down.
- 1:36:07Speaker 7: She wants to get Greg'd.
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: Yeah, totally. Not going to happen.
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: Okay, so then this is, you were saying, was I bougie?
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: The way I wrote this sounds bougie. This is 2.14 p.m.
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: Same day. Today has been, so far, a fantastic day.
- 1:36:22Speaker 4: I'm sitting on my deck under the blue skies and bright,
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: warm sunshine. This, in itself... is a treat.
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: What a delight. He's like real-life Frasier.
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: Yeah, totally. Classes were great. It spurred great conversation in
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: my music class and brought up good points in my
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: novel class. That made me feel good since I have
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: felt a bit confused in it. In my fiction class,
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: we sat out on the lawn since it is such
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: a nice day. And that it was. And that it was.
- 1:36:55Speaker 4: Perhaps the weather itself made me enjoy the content of
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: the discussion even more.
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: Perhaps.
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: I was deeply involved, both inwardly and outwardly. We spoke
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: of D.H. Lawrence and Lady Chatterley's lover. And for the
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: first time, I truly enjoyed the process of looking into
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: an author's thought process. It's a day of good weather
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: and conversation.
- 1:37:18Speaker 7: Oh, my God.
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: Oh my God, what a weirdo. What a weirdo.
- 1:37:25Speaker 7: We spoke of Lady Chatterley.
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: And then this part is so weird. And so it was.
- 1:37:32Speaker 7: Perchance.
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: When I reread some of this stuff, I remember it.
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: This I don't remember. I don't know what was going
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: through my head at all. But I guess I was
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: in a dark space or something.
- 1:37:42Speaker 15: Hammered.
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: So it starts with 11.20 p.m., 7.15.92 p.m. After dinner,
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: we hurried off to a Mozart string quartet. It was amazing.
- 1:37:58Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: The talent of the musicians and the mind of the
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: composer boggles my mind. But today has been a melancholy day,
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: and I'm not too sure why. Although I know it
- 1:38:10Speaker 4: has something to do with last night. I wrote this
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: dark poem in fiction class today. And then there's a
- 1:38:17Speaker 4: poem that I wrote that I don't remember, and it's
- 1:38:19Speaker 4: very strange.
- 1:38:20Speaker 7: Lay it on us.
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: Wait, hold on. Let's get the master of poetry. Do
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: we have Vaughn?
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: Let's get Vaughn's take on... I mean, because Vaughn.
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: This is not for class.
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: This is just a poem for the sake of poems.
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: This is just apparently for my own doing, just my
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: own enjoyment.
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: All right, Vaughn. Okay, so Vaughn, you're our resident master
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: of poetry. And so I need you to listen to
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: Greg's poem and give us your feedback.
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: So I was in a dark mood. I guess I
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: had had a bad day. And I guess the night before,
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: we had a conversation that was upset me. I don't
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: remember what happened that night. But then I got back
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: at 11.20 p.m. and wrote this. Jeez, okay. All right.
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: As I ponder the realms of life and love, life
- 1:39:03Speaker 4: itself becomes a battle and love a struggle, a war,
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: an uphill climb, but a joy, surprise... adventure, a game.
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: The play is never won, seldom lost, has no beginning,
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: foresees no end. Living is a task, dying, fate. The
- 1:39:23Speaker 4: span between the two, packed with doubt. A perplexity of times,
- 1:39:28Speaker 4: confusion at night, retrospect in morning. I celebrate the start,
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: play the duration, fear and loathe, a shattering loss.
- 1:39:37Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: Weird.
- 1:39:39Speaker 7: Snap, snap.
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: What are you getting from that?
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: What does that mean?
- 1:39:44Speaker 10: It was very, I would say, Walt Whitman-y, which is
- 1:39:46Speaker 10: like very, what you call transcendental. So it's like very
- 1:39:53Speaker 10: expressive of life and like the ups and downs and
- 1:39:55Speaker 10: ebbs and flows and whatnot. So I was very into
- 1:39:59Speaker 10: that around that age as well. So I would say
- 1:40:01Speaker 10: like a nine. Nine point something something.
- 1:40:04Speaker 6: Wow.
- 1:40:05Speaker 7: Very high marks.
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: Very well done. I looked it up. This is a
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: Wednesday night in 1992.
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: Was it?
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: I got to go through the beginning and see what
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: happened the night before.
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: I think what Greg was saying, it's not about how
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: fast he gets there. It's not about what's waiting on
- 1:40:18Speaker 5: the other side. It's the climb.
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: It's the climb. But I also had that fear of
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: death and that life.
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: That's the whole thing.
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: Yeah. Living is a task, dying fate.
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: It sounds like I wasn't liking life so much.
- 1:40:32Speaker 7: You said a bad day.
- 1:40:33Speaker 4: It was.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: Now, you weren't feeling a lot of warmth or love,
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: I guess, from these other people that were around you?
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: I guess.
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: Because you were like just, I mean, you're always going
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: for people's, you know, admiration or.
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: I'm still friends with Kim and Cammy.
- 1:40:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:40:47Speaker 4: Del disappeared. He became this like, I think, like a
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: religious fanatic and became, I think, some sort of pastor and.
- 1:40:55Speaker 4: I think he has about 10 kids.
- 1:40:57Speaker 8: Did he hit it with those chicks?
- 1:40:58Speaker 9: No.
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: No, no, no, no.
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: Like, was anybody hooking up? I mean, you're all young people,
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: and you're doing a semester abroad.
- 1:41:05Speaker 5: Going to discos. Yeah. Going to the disco.
- 1:41:10Speaker 4: Mozart string quartet, and then the disco.
- 1:41:13Speaker 7: The discotheque.
- 1:41:15Speaker 8: Smoking cigarettes.
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: Right. Kimmy and I just had such a, quote, retreat
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: conversation out on my deck. A retreat conversation. We got
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: very open. I really like this, but it still makes
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: me feel vulnerable.
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:41:30Speaker 6: I don't even know what I'm talking about.
- 1:41:32Speaker 5: Yes, a lot of this is, like, very generic nonsense.
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: Right. Yeah.
- 1:41:35Speaker 7: Platitudes.
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:41:36Speaker 5: What's the thing?
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: Like, I think college kids, like, They're feeling themselves, their independence.
- 1:41:42Speaker 3: They're feeling their entry into the adult world. And man,
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: do you really think you have it figured out? You
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: think that you are so enlightened and that your mind
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: is so open and that you're just so like, oh
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: my God, I am an overlooked intellectual. People discount me
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: because I'm just this young person.
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: You're at Cambridge trying to sound... well-read and wordy and smart.
- 1:42:04Speaker 7: Greg, I'm going to ask you this. I need you
- 1:42:06Speaker 7: to answer me honestly. Did you ever, while you were
- 1:42:08Speaker 7: at Cambridge, start speaking in a British accent?
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: No, but I recall saying, yeah, at the end of it. Like,
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: we're going to eat meat at 6 o'clock, yeah?
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: Yeah. You do that now.
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: Do I?
- 1:42:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: Did you keep that?
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: From time to time.
- 1:42:22Speaker 5: Did you put milk in your tea?
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: No.
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: Okay. Did you say God save the Queen Governor?
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:42:28Speaker 4: What'd you talk about?
- 1:42:29Speaker 5: In it, brother.
- 1:42:30Speaker 4: Car park? No.
- 1:42:31Speaker 5: In shillings?
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: There's another entry from Greg's lost and found journal, you guys.
- 1:42:36Speaker 9: Wow.
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: I think I'm devolving at this point.
- 1:42:38Speaker 5: Sinking into madness.
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: Weird.
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: Well, thank you for sharing, Greg.
- 1:42:43Speaker 4: Of course. I will share more when.
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: I can muster the courage.
- 1:42:46Speaker 7: When it's time.
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: You know, they say that, you know, people don't change.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: I think this journal is really showing that people don't.
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: He is still the same tortured person today that he
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: was back in 1992.
- 1:42:56Speaker 4: And sometimes just too drunk to care.
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: Gets drunk and fights things.
- 1:43:00Speaker 9: Ew!
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: The Woody Show.
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: Dude, we just heard a little bit about Greg Gorey
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: and his lost and found journal. I sent this to
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: Greg and this guy reminded me of Greg. This seems
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: like a rant that Greg would go on.
- 1:43:17Speaker 4: Oh, is this the coffee guy?
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: Oh, 100%.
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: So he's a comedian.
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: His name is Jimmy Dunn.
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: And he had a total Greg gory old man moment
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: at a Starbucks. And he went on social media to
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: rant about it. Tell me you don't hear Greg in this.
- 1:43:33Speaker 6: Hey, what's going on, everybody? Listen, we're doomed as a society.
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: We're done.
- 1:43:38Speaker 11: Let me tell you what happened tonight. I came over
- 1:43:40Speaker 11: to this Starbucks to get a cup of coffee. I
- 1:43:42Speaker 11: walked around the other door and on the door at
- 1:43:46Speaker 11: the front of the building, it said the cafe is closed,
- 1:43:49Speaker 11: but the drive up window is still open.
- 1:43:51Speaker 6: So I came over to this.
- 1:43:53Speaker 11: Drive up window, waved and They ignored me, and then
- 1:43:56Speaker 11: finally they came over, and she said, I'm sorry, sir,
- 1:43:59Speaker 11: I can't serve you without a car. And I went, oh,
- 1:44:03Speaker 11: please give me a break. I can't come inside because
- 1:44:05Speaker 11: you're closed. I just need a cup of coffee. There's
- 1:44:08Speaker 11: nobody here. I get it. They don't want people standing
- 1:44:11Speaker 11: there when there's traffic, but there was nobody. And she said, sir,
- 1:44:14Speaker 11: you don't have a car. And I should have said, well,
- 1:44:18Speaker 11: I identify as a car. I'm a Buick LeSabre. And
- 1:44:22Speaker 11: if you don't serve me, I'm going to sue you.
- 1:44:23Speaker 11: That's what I should have said. But I said, okay,
- 1:44:25Speaker 11: I get it.
- 1:44:26Speaker 9: Fine.
- 1:44:26Speaker 11: And I thought, all right, I'll walk over to that
- 1:44:28Speaker 11: Market Basket. They probably have coffee over there at.
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: That Market Basket.
- 1:44:31Speaker 5: Market Basket.
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: Where's he from?
- 1:44:33Speaker 5: That's a comedian? Yeah.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44:35Speaker 3: Number one.
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: But number two, yeah, Market Basket. That's New England, of course, right, Sammy?
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: So if you're following the story, he went to go
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: get Starbucks. The lobby is closed. So he's like, all right,
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: it's late at night. He walked through the drive-thru. By
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: the way, he's standing in front of the Starbucks. There's
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: nobody else around. We've been doing that since we were
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: in high school. We try to walk through the drive-thru.
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: And they won't have it. So he's like, yeah, maybe
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: I'll go to the market basket and get a coffee
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: over there.
- 1:44:59Speaker 11: And if you don't serve me, I'm going to sue you.
- 1:45:00Speaker 11: That's what I should have said. But I said, okay,
- 1:45:02Speaker 11: I get it.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: Fine.
- 1:45:03Speaker 11: And I thought, all right, I'll walk over to that
- 1:45:05Speaker 11: market basket. They probably have coffee over there at that
- 1:45:07Speaker 11: market basket, right? And as I walked around the corner
- 1:45:10Speaker 11: 15 steps, I came up to this order pickup window.
- 1:45:15Speaker 6: Look, on a sidewalk, right here on a sidewalk. So
- 1:45:18Speaker 6: I go over to this window and.
- 1:45:19Speaker 11: Go, hey, waving a $ 5 bill.
- 1:45:22Speaker 6: And she comes over and she goes, can I help you?
- 1:45:23Speaker 6: I go, yeah. Remember me, the guy from over there
- 1:45:26Speaker 6: didn't have the car? I'm looking for a.
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: Cup of coffee.
- 1:45:29Speaker 6: And she says, did you order online on the app?
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: And I said, what?
- 1:45:34Speaker 11: She goes, well, I don't have a cash register. And
- 1:45:36Speaker 11: this one right there. She goes, I can't use that
- 1:45:38Speaker 11: unless you use the drive-up window. I go, I can't
- 1:45:40Speaker 11: use the drive-up window because I don't have a car.
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: Remember me? I just want a cup of coffee. She goes, well,
- 1:45:44Speaker 6: you have to use the app. And I said, I
- 1:45:47Speaker 6: don't have the app. I don't have the Starbucks app because...
- 1:45:49Speaker 6: I'm an old man.
- 1:45:50Speaker 11: I'm not some millennial who sits in there all day
- 1:45:53Speaker 11: pretending it's his office.
- 1:45:54Speaker 6: I'm just a guy looking for a cup of coffee.
- 1:45:56Speaker 6: And she says, well, I can't help you, sir, if
- 1:45:58Speaker 6: you don't go online and use the app. So I
- 1:46:02Speaker 6: didn't get a cup of coffee at Starbucks. And I
- 1:46:05Speaker 6: probably never will again.
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: Which is stupid, right? Like you can't accept cash unless you're.
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: In the drive-thru. And then if you're standing here, that
- 1:46:17Speaker 4: register doesn't work.
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: But we can't have, as I said, from a liability standpoint,
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: like you can't be standing in the drive-thru. Okay, there's
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: probably something written in their insurance.
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: Okay, got it.
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: But now you're at the sidewalk pickup order window.
- 1:46:28Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: Okay, can't you just ring it in?
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: Can't you pretend for a second that somebody is in
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: the drive-thru?
- 1:46:33Speaker 5: They just wanted him to go away. Put his stupid
- 1:46:37Speaker 5: order in on the drive-thru thing and then just take
- 1:46:40Speaker 5: the order, man.
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: There's nobody else there.
- 1:46:42Speaker 8: If all this is true, the most frustrating part of
- 1:46:43Speaker 8: the story to me is, hey, you can't be in
- 1:46:46Speaker 8: the drive-thru, but we do have a pickup window on
- 1:46:49Speaker 8: the other side. If that was that employee's friend, she
- 1:46:52Speaker 8: would have said, hey, go over there, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: I'll be on the app.
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I would have taken care of it for him.
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: This guy sucks, that's why.
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: I mean, even at stores that have loyalty cards and
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: you scan the card, if you don't have one, a
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: lot of times the cashier will just grab a card.
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: And it's just the workers being lazy.
- 1:47:09Speaker 4: Yeah, super lazy, dear.
- 1:47:10Speaker 7: My blood pressure after listening to that.
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: Customer service sucks.
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: Well, yeah, and you're kind of going after him, Seabass.
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: I don't think there's a problem with this guy. He
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: just wants a cup of coffee. He's at a Starbucks.
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: He's not asking for something crazy. He's not there after
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: the breakfast menu has stopped and he still wants breakfast.
- 1:47:26Speaker 5: I'm not talking about his desire. I'm talking about his delivery.
- 1:47:30Speaker 8: Yeah, also, he doesn't know how to use the app, dude.
- 1:47:33Speaker 8: You just record yourself and put it on the internet.
- 1:47:36Speaker 8: You can use the app, dude. But if this was.
- 1:47:39Speaker 5: Gregori, though, he would be reliving the movie Falling Down, though.
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: Yeah, so also there's another story because this war has
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: erupted over when coffee shops should open. Like, people are
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: mad because the small indie shops are opening around 8.30
- 1:47:57Speaker 3: or 9. I have noticed this. In the morning.
- 1:48:01Speaker 5: Yeah, because they're hangout spots.
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: Yeah, so here's what people were saying.
- 1:48:04Speaker 15: I'm so confused because I need a coffee shop to
- 1:48:06Speaker 15: explain to me why you're open at 9 a.m., You
- 1:48:10Speaker 15: know who wants to get coffee?
- 1:48:12Speaker 7: People who are tired. You know who's tired?
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: People up before 9 a.m.
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: Because they have to get to work.
- 1:48:20Speaker 7: Their 9 a.m job.
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: So baristas they're pushing back saying that coffee shops are
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: dead at 5 30 in the morning and that's why
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: they open up later smaller shops also say they don't
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: have like starbucks money they can't afford to staff coffee
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: shops that are opening early if nobody's coming in.
- 1:48:36Speaker 7: Yeah, but those are the choices. 9 or 5.30.
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: Have a nice 7.30. It's a chicken and the egg
- 1:48:42Speaker 5: sort of thing. You're not going to be Starbucks because
- 1:48:44Speaker 5: you're not open at 5 a.m. And you don't want
- 1:48:48Speaker 5: to be open at 5 a.m. because you don't want
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: to wake up that early because you own the place.
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: I get that. But that's why you're not going to
- 1:48:53Speaker 5: be that big coffee chain.
- 1:48:55Speaker 4: So it's just a vicious cycle.
- 1:48:56Speaker 8: Coffee shops are booming, though. They're becoming hangout spots again.
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: They are.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: Yeah, because people aren't going to bars, but they're hanging
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: out at the coffee shops.
- 1:49:05Speaker 4: The bigger question is, why are some hardware stores closed
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: on Sunday?
- 1:49:09Speaker 5: They are?
- 1:49:09Speaker 7: That is so old-timey.
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: There's a lot of places near my house that are
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: closed on Sunday.
- 1:49:15Speaker 7: But they're not the chains.
- 1:49:17Speaker 4: Not the chains. But that's when you need them.
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: That's the mom and pop, yeah.
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: I thought it was where I was looking for like
- 1:49:22Speaker 3: a little truck rental place to go pick up all
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: my son's Halloween crap. And a lot of them were
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: closed on Sundays. I'm like, isn't that when people do
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: a lot of their moving?
- 1:49:32Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: Like Saturdays and Sundays.
- 1:49:35Speaker 4: Isn't that when you do hardware stuff?
- 1:49:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: I'm like, you're closed on Sunday. I mean, I ended
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: up finding a place.
- 1:49:40Speaker 4: It was fine.
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: I know a truck rental place that has the best
- 1:49:42Speaker 5: truck in the world that's open on Sundays.
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: It's called UCBass.
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: Called Cybertruck.
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: UCBass.
- 1:49:48Speaker 5: Called, hey, bring the Cybertruck up to my place and
- 1:49:50Speaker 5: I'll be like, hell yeah. Hell yeah, bro.
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: You like to help people move?
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: If it's a chance to show off the Cybertruck. And
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: we're not helping people move. We're just moving Halloween crap.
- 1:49:58Speaker 7: Would you let his son get in the car?
- 1:50:01Speaker 5: He would demand to get in the car because he
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: would want to enjoy the fabulous interior.
- 1:50:04Speaker 8: He wants to flex on them fools.
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: Yeah, flex on them hoes.
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: And that's going to do it for Tuesday, everybody. Full

- 1:51:00Speaker 4: Yeah, if you want your water to taste better, just
- 1:51:03Speaker 4: add coffee. Yuck. Not for Woody. Not for Woody.
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: As if I told my wife, like, if you want
- 1:51:11Speaker 5: water to taste better.
- 1:51:12Speaker 4: Just add tea.
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: She hates tea.
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: Oh, man, does she hate tea. But I feel that
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: way about coffee, man.
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: You do.
- 1:51:18Speaker 5: I love the smell of it, the taste of it.
- 1:51:20Speaker 7: Well, I started with five ounces of coffee today, and Greg,
- 1:51:23Speaker 7: how much do I have left?
- 1:51:25Speaker 4: Almost all of it.
- 1:51:26Speaker 7: Four and a half?
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: That's your first cup?
- 1:51:28Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:51:29Speaker 7: I don't really drink caffeine.
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: It takes about a quarter of a sip.
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: Is it just for the aesthetic, just the look of it?
- 1:51:33Speaker 5: I like the taste of it.
- 1:51:34Speaker 7: But I just, a sip's enough.
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: Thank you very much, Greg Gorey.
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: You got it.
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: We thank you so much for giving The Woody Show
