- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And we might even play it on the pod.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Let's get to the first call.
- 1:31Speaker 2: All right. First one is from Rachel.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Hey, B & D. It's Rachel, longtime listener, longtime caller.
- 1:37Speaker 4: I am just calling to remind everyone that this show
- 1:40Speaker 4: has always sucked. People that watch the show, there is
- 1:43Speaker 4: something wrong with all of us. We are like tantric people.
- 1:46Speaker 4: We are people that saw two interesting-looking clips on the trailer,
- 1:50Speaker 4: and we will watch flashback after flashback that we could literally.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Quote from memory.
- 1:54Speaker 4: We've seen it so many times, waiting for the one
- 1:57Speaker 4: scintilla of interesting moments, of the time Janelle yells F
- 2:02Speaker 4: you at Cody. That's how this show works. You watch
- 2:05Speaker 4: and you wait on pins and needles, like, is something
- 2:07Speaker 4: finally going to happen? And then it doesn't. And then
- 2:10Speaker 4: it's like, well, maybe next week. We are the kind
- 2:11Speaker 4: of people that will stay in an abusive relationship because
- 2:14Speaker 4: he's nice twice a year on Thanksgiving and Christmas. So
- 2:18Speaker 4: that's not anything new. What would have happened if Cody
- 2:21Speaker 4: and Robin were on this season? Probably Robin would be like, yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 4: I don't know. And Cody, like, God only knows. Like,
- 2:28Speaker 4: he already did his apology tour. Barring Cody getting a
- 2:32Speaker 4: new wife, I don't know what would be all that
- 2:34Speaker 4: interesting in any of these people's lives. But again, we
- 2:37Speaker 4: love this boring show. So if you don't like to
- 2:40Speaker 4: be bored, this isn't the show for you. We haven't
- 2:42Speaker 4: stayed around 20 seasons because we're people that have a
- 2:46Speaker 4: sane expectation for the programming that we watch. But I
- 2:50Speaker 4: also do want to say, I think the timing of
- 2:52Speaker 4: Cody and Robin not coming back this season is saving
- 2:55Speaker 4: them a ton of scrutiny because Robin would have to
- 2:58Speaker 4: have some foining to do about the 60K on doll clothes,
- 3:02Speaker 4: and people have now kind of.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Oh, and then I cut off.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Damn.
- 3:05Speaker 2: You were spitting facts.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, she's calling us out in the dumpster.
- 3:09Speaker 2: But I mean, it's so true. This show has always
- 3:11Speaker 2: been boring. Like even in our rewinds, we're like, how
- 3:13Speaker 2: did anybody watch this?
- 3:15Speaker 1: Well, but that's a TLC show for you. Like John
- 3:18Speaker 1: and Kate plus eight, boring. Duggars, boring.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Plathville, boring.
- 3:23Speaker 1: But there's something very dysfunctional inherently about these families that
- 3:27Speaker 1: draws us in. And we're like raccoon detectives with our
- 3:31Speaker 1: monocles looking for just a hint.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Something that would affirm what we feel psychically in our
- 3:38Speaker 1: raccoon bodies. These people are fucking whack. And that's why
- 3:41Speaker 1: we watch. And also some of us, Rachel, we like
- 3:45Speaker 1: to be edged. Should I go up?
- 3:46Speaker 3: Ew.
- 3:48Speaker 1: We like to be edged. There's something very exciting about
- 3:51Speaker 1: waiting for the other shoe to drop or whatever. And
- 3:55Speaker 1: so I don't know. I just, I do want to
- 3:58Speaker 1: believe that at some point, The floodgates are going to
- 4:02Speaker 1: open and one of these hoes is going to start
- 4:04Speaker 1: telling the truth and giving us details that we crave.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Do I know on an intellectual level that this is
- 4:12Speaker 1: never going to happen?
- 4:12Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I know that for sure.
- 4:14Speaker 1: But in an embodied way, I feel like it's possible.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And so I continue to watch BHI.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I mean, I'm totally going to continue watching. My only
- 4:23Speaker 2: critique really is just being authentic. Like you don't have
- 4:26Speaker 2: to manufacture drama. You have enough. You can give us
- 4:29Speaker 2: some tea and that.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Would be great.
- 4:32Speaker 2: But instead we want to have these like fake storylines.
- 4:35Speaker 2: That's my critique about it. It's like, I know it's
- 4:38Speaker 2: going to be boring. I know we're going to be
- 4:40Speaker 2: going to speed dating events. I know. We're going to
- 4:43Speaker 2: be doing color analysis for all of these wives. And no,
- 4:46Speaker 2: we're going to go shopping for clothing. And, like, we're
- 4:48Speaker 2: going to have to watch 30 minutes of that. And
- 4:51Speaker 2: that's fine. I come into this knowing that I just
- 4:56Speaker 2: want some tea.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and it wouldn't take much.
- 4:59Speaker 2: No!
- 5:00Speaker 1: Like, it doesn't have to be a ton.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I'm not asking for a lot.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Just good little bits. And, like, Solomon Grundy is, like,
- 5:06Speaker 1: a little bit... I mean, it does... open the door
- 5:10Speaker 1: so that we can get a sense of what was
- 5:12Speaker 1: happening with Robin and Cody and like how she was
- 5:14Speaker 1: sending him out to do her dirty work. Like that's good.
- 5:16Speaker 1: But like, it's so much as inference. It's us intuiting
- 5:20Speaker 1: what that really means versus them being transparent. And, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 1: you just have to compare and contrast with like the
- 5:27Speaker 1: Bravo shows, like the real housewives. Yes. Those women are
- 5:31Speaker 1: producing and they're pretending to be wealthy and they're making
- 5:34Speaker 1: their displays, but they also show very real fights and,
- 5:39Speaker 1: They have gritty talking heads and we actually get into
- 5:43Speaker 1: the down and dirty of their lives. So there's like a,
- 5:46Speaker 1: there's like a, um, a juxtaposition and there's a little
- 5:49Speaker 1: bit of this and a little bit of that with
- 5:50Speaker 1: sister wives. There's, it's a minuscule amount of solemn and
- 5:54Speaker 1: grundy tea.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And then a bunch of fucking fakery.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It's like.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And so we are crazy, Rachel. You're fucking right.
- 6:01Speaker 2: It's kind of like we're all trapped in the basement
- 6:03Speaker 2: with Christine.
- 6:04Speaker 1: We are.
- 6:05Speaker 2: And like, we're kind of chained down there. And then
- 6:07Speaker 2: like we're given these like little crumbs. Like we're given
- 6:10Speaker 2: like a little piece of bread.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Of Solomon Grundy.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Of Solomon Grundy. And so then we take this like
- 6:15Speaker 2: little piece of bread and we're just like nibbling on
- 6:17Speaker 2: it until next week. We have to like last on it.
- 6:20Speaker 2: That's why we're so skinny.
- 6:20Speaker 1: That's why we're edging. Yes.
- 6:22Speaker 2: That's why we're edging.
- 6:24Speaker 1: We're edging because we like it.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Literally though.
- 6:26Speaker 6: She's right.
- 6:27Speaker 2: You're right.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I feel very attacked.
- 6:28Speaker 2: You're right, Rachel.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I also have to co-sign Rachel.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Definitely. All right. So next one we have is from Tanya.
- 6:33Speaker 5: Hey, ladies. It's Tanya. uh, calling from a dumpster in
- 6:38Speaker 5: Houston again. Um, we are sitting on some pretty weather, uh,
- 6:42Speaker 5: 73 degrees, but it's only supposed to last two days.
- 6:45Speaker 5: So anyway, um, we are now, it is Sunday and
- 6:52Speaker 5: episode three is on its way. I'm not excited. Um,
- 6:57Speaker 5: What I wanted to say was, I think it was
- 7:00Speaker 5: this week, there was a TikTok video that I saw
- 7:03Speaker 5: with David and Christine and their dumbass, not a quitter, shirts,
- 7:09Speaker 5: which I'm over them. David is the true villain for
- 7:13Speaker 5: me this season. I won't even get into that. But
- 7:17Speaker 5: Christine sitting there talking about how she refused that the
- 7:22Speaker 5: producers wanted them to go get dinner or lunch or
- 7:25Speaker 5: something together after they met up over the pictures. And
- 7:28Speaker 5: she just told them, no, I refuse. I will not
- 7:30Speaker 5: do that. I'm not doing that.
- 7:32Speaker 7: Okay.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Clock in already or, or, or leave the show. Like
- 7:37Speaker 5: I'm so tired. First it was Cody. Then it was Robin.
- 7:40Speaker 5: Now they're, you know, y'all all hate each other. You
- 7:43Speaker 5: don't want to be together. You don't want to get together,
- 7:45Speaker 5: but yet you're getting paid. Thousands upon tens of thousands
- 7:50Speaker 5: of dollars, close to a million a year, for us
- 7:53Speaker 5: to sit here and watch this foolishness, for you to
- 7:55Speaker 5: be like, no, I don't want to do it. Clock
- 7:59Speaker 5: the hell in already.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I kind of love that. Clock in!
- 8:03Speaker 3: Do your job!
- 8:04Speaker 2: This is what you're paid to do!
- 8:07Speaker 1: And that's a fact.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Yeah!
- 8:10Speaker 1: Like, when you think about them making, allegedly, based on conversations...
- 8:16Speaker 1: like $ 40, 000 each an episode. Now, who knows if that's
- 8:19Speaker 1: what they're getting in season 21, because it's experimental, but like,
- 8:22Speaker 1: let's say they are.
- 8:24Speaker 7: Imagine getting $ 40, 000 an episode and refusing to film with
- 8:30Speaker 7: people that you've spent your entire life with, which sets
- 8:33Speaker 7: up the premise of this whole show, which you went
- 8:36Speaker 7: into and co-signed the entire time. Like, imagine being like
- 8:40Speaker 7: too good for.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It and just be like, yeah, I'm not going to
- 8:42Speaker 1: film with Mary though. I'm just, I'm not going to
- 8:44Speaker 1: do it.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You're fired.
- 8:46Speaker 2: It's my boundary.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Go away then. At least Cody and Robin to give
- 8:50Speaker 1: them some credit. At least they had the wherewithal to
- 8:55Speaker 1: be like, yeah, we're not going to do it. It's
- 8:57Speaker 1: just not worth it. I don't want to film with them.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I don't want to be around them. And so we're
- 9:01Speaker 1: not going to participate.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Well, unless they got tanked.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Right.
- 9:06Speaker 1: They probably got fired and or they've got another show
- 9:08Speaker 1: that's coming up and we'll hear about it later.
- 9:10Speaker 2: We're totally going to watch it though.
- 9:11Speaker 1: But like at least if imagine a world where they
- 9:14Speaker 1: had the dignity to say, yeah, we don't like these
- 9:16Speaker 1: women and we don't want to do it.
- 9:17Speaker 2: That would be so great.
- 9:19Speaker 1: That would be like based.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I would love that.
- 9:21Speaker 1: But here we have Christine and David and I agree
- 9:24Speaker 1: with her too. And I've talked a lot about how
- 9:26Speaker 1: I'm sick of him.
- 9:27Speaker 4: David sucks.
- 9:29Speaker 1: He's got to get off my television.
- 9:31Speaker 2: He's so annoying.
- 9:32Speaker 1: He makes Christine worse.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Yes, totally. And I don't want to hear about their
- 9:36Speaker 2: sex lives.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely not.
- 9:39Speaker 2: All right, so next one we have is a twofer. Okay.
- 9:41Speaker 2: It's from an anonymous person.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Are they going to attack us?
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yes. I'm just kidding.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Hi, B and D.
- 9:47Speaker 6: For context, I just watched season 21, episode 3. So
- 9:51Speaker 6: I've not seen anything else. I know nothing else just
- 9:55Speaker 6: because you know things change so quickly but um and
- 9:59Speaker 6: i may be super annoying to you all because i
- 10:03Speaker 6: am uh one of those optimistic people that uh that
- 10:07Speaker 6: can just really see the best in the show even
- 10:10Speaker 6: when it's trash um but i really loved this episode
- 10:14Speaker 6: i think it was so cool to see janelle like
- 10:17Speaker 6: learning a her style and stuff and comparing that to
- 10:22Speaker 6: when she went to the dating coach she has so
- 10:25Speaker 6: much more energy she's like she's like repeating that she
- 10:29Speaker 6: likes this and she's enjoying herself uh and it's it's
- 10:32Speaker 6: pretty funny I also think that it's like so cool
- 10:34Speaker 6: that she it like right after seeing the dating coach
- 10:37Speaker 6: she is investing in her style and like trying to
- 10:40Speaker 6: kind of like improve herself in that way um to
- 10:44Speaker 6: help with like her I assume that the thought process
- 10:47Speaker 6: behind this is like I'm Not just for her own benefit,
- 10:50Speaker 6: even though that's plenty of reason, but it's also just
- 10:53Speaker 6: to help with the dating life and the dating scene.
- 10:55Speaker 6: And maybe she is genuinely wanting to get back out there,
- 10:59Speaker 6: even though she kind of did not seem interested in
- 11:01Speaker 6: talking to the dating coach at all. Anyways, and dang it,
- 11:07Speaker 6: I'm almost out of time already. I loved seeing them,
- 11:10Speaker 6: the wives interact again, and a few jabs at Robin
- 11:14Speaker 6: were great.
- 11:15Speaker 1: So before we get on to the second one, I...
- 11:19Speaker 1: appreciate that perspective. And if you watched our recap from
- 11:22Speaker 1: earlier this week, or if you listened to it, you
- 11:24Speaker 1: will have heard that I actually agree that I've enjoyed
- 11:28Speaker 1: these last two episodes. I in particular liked episode three
- 11:31Speaker 1: because we have these a little bit of deeper conversations
- 11:35Speaker 1: and also more of a day in the life stuff,
- 11:38Speaker 1: especially with Janelle and the things that she, she, she
- 11:41Speaker 1: did seem happy to me to sit down and do
- 11:43Speaker 1: her colors and to like think about the life she
- 11:46Speaker 1: wants to live. Like I did love that energy. Do
- 11:48Speaker 1: I think again that we can have an entire season
- 11:52Speaker 1: out of that?
- 11:53Speaker 6: No.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Do I think we can have another season with just that?
- 11:56Speaker 1: I don't. But given what we know and how we
- 11:59Speaker 1: followed along this entire time, like it is nice to
- 12:01Speaker 1: see and I did like it. So I agree with Anonymous.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I liked it too. And for me, it wasn't
- 12:07Speaker 2: so much about the color palette stuff that was interesting.
- 12:10Speaker 2: What was interesting to me is like Janelle's reflection of
- 12:13Speaker 2: on how she has appeared in her life and how
- 12:16Speaker 2: she has not really taken care of herself and not
- 12:18Speaker 2: really like prioritized her looks or her style or anything
- 12:22Speaker 2: like that. And how she is coming into this era
- 12:25Speaker 2: of like, well, I want to be kind to myself
- 12:27Speaker 2: and I want to dress nice and I want to
- 12:28Speaker 2: feel pretty and I want to feel feminine, look feminine.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And I really like that. And like, not to bring
- 12:34Speaker 2: this back up again, because I think I mentioned it
- 12:36Speaker 2: on the pod, but What Not to Wear was kind
- 12:38Speaker 2: of like that, the show with Stacey Clinton and that
- 12:40Speaker 2: gay guy. Where like they would take- Was it? Yeah. No,
- 12:44Speaker 2: it was Stacey Clinton.
- 12:45Speaker 1: No, it was Stacey and Clinton.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I thought her last name was Clinton.
- 12:49Speaker 1: No, his name's Clinton.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Anyways.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I follow him on Facebook.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Oh my God. Is he gay? Yeah.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Turbo gay.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I really like that show primarily because they
- 12:58Speaker 2: would take people that were like this, where they like
- 13:01Speaker 2: never prioritize their style or they were like busy moms
- 13:03Speaker 2: that like didn't have time to go shopping for themselves
- 13:06Speaker 2: and they would completely revamp their wardrobe so that way
- 13:09Speaker 2: they would feel better about themselves and feel more confident.
- 13:12Speaker 2: And I liked that aspect of it. Like I don't
- 13:14Speaker 2: really care about summer, fall colors or autumns or anything
- 13:17Speaker 2: like that, but I like seeing Janelle be like, I
- 13:21Speaker 2: want to feel myself so that way I can find
- 13:23Speaker 2: my man.
- 13:24Speaker 1: You know, I think a lot of us are low down,
- 13:26Speaker 1: dirty and diabolical in the dumpster. But at the end
- 13:30Speaker 1: of the day, we're rooting for these girls.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And we want them to succeed and we want them
- 13:35Speaker 1: to move into new chapters of their lives where they're
- 13:38Speaker 1: healthy and happy and fulfilled.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:41Speaker 1: And so I like seeing it as well. I have
- 13:43Speaker 1: liked it the last couple of episodes and I hope
- 13:46Speaker 1: they continue. But again, it's got to be tempered with enough...
- 13:53Speaker 1: transparent information about what really happened in this family in
- 14:00Speaker 1: order for me to stay interested. Because a lot of this, again,
- 14:04Speaker 1: it's day in the life. It's stuff we want to know,
- 14:07Speaker 1: but it's not going to hold my interest past 2027,
- 14:11Speaker 1: I don't think. So they're going to have to do more,
- 14:13Speaker 1: but I'm liking what I'm seeing.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Me too.
- 14:15Speaker 1: So agreed, Anonymous.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Agreed. All right. So Anonymous part two.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Okay.
- 14:21Speaker 6: I know that people do call after call, but man,
- 14:25Speaker 6: 90 seconds is limiting. Anyways, so it's me again. I
- 14:30Speaker 6: also really love that Christine and Mary are going to
- 14:33Speaker 6: have this talk coming up. I feel like it will
- 14:36Speaker 6: be really good content for us to discuss because there's
- 14:41Speaker 6: a really high likelihood that one or both of them
- 14:44Speaker 6: makes a jerk out of themselves or it could go
- 14:47Speaker 6: really well and we could be really proud of them
- 14:49Speaker 6: and happy for them. You know, I just think They
- 14:53Speaker 6: have a really hard time communicating and presenting themselves well
- 14:56Speaker 6: with each other sometimes. And so I think it's going
- 15:00Speaker 6: to be interesting. I'll be really disappointed if it's just
- 15:02Speaker 6: kind of like a conversation like how it went between
- 15:05Speaker 6: Janelle and Mary when they talked about the backdoor deal.
- 15:07Speaker 6: Because I don't know. I think there's a lot they
- 15:10Speaker 6: need to get out on the table and there could
- 15:12Speaker 6: be a lot of drama here. I think they're both
- 15:13Speaker 6: wrong in different ways and both need to like grow
- 15:16Speaker 6: up a little bit.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And I'm really excited to see how that plays out
- 15:20Speaker 1: and to.
- 15:20Speaker 6: See maybe some like some drama or or maybe a
- 15:25Speaker 6: really healing conversation so i'm excited i think uh given
- 15:30Speaker 6: that cody and robin aren't on the show we still
- 15:32Speaker 6: have some interesting stuff to see and i'm i'm excited
- 15:35Speaker 6: about it so hopefully you guys are too um hopefully
- 15:40Speaker 6: this was a more enjoyable episode and you guys did
- 15:42Speaker 6: not fall asleep during this one because uh i thought
- 15:45Speaker 6: it was good so anyways bye.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Oh i like her she's sweet she didn't give us
- 15:51Speaker 1: her name.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Well, I want you to call back again, Anonymous, because
- 15:56Speaker 2: now that you've seen episode four with like the start
- 15:58Speaker 2: of Mary and Christine's talk, I want to know what
- 16:01Speaker 2: your thoughts are and then what it'll be next week
- 16:04Speaker 2: because maybe it'll be different than our perspective on it
- 16:07Speaker 2: because we were kind of like, eh.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think rightly so. I think she's definitely
- 16:14Speaker 1: seeing the potential of the conversations we could have. And
- 16:18Speaker 1: this was after she watched episode three. And so in
- 16:21Speaker 1: episode four, we had Mary and Christine sit down and
- 16:24Speaker 1: we started the conversation. I don't think we're going to
- 16:27Speaker 1: get to that meaty conversation that we really need to.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I don't think these women have the ability to actually
- 16:35Speaker 1: do that. I really wish we could have an intersection
- 16:39Speaker 1: between sister wives and couples therapy with Dr.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Orna.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Because imagine a world where Dr. Orna sat these three
- 16:47Speaker 1: women down and facilitated a conversation between these women about
- 16:52Speaker 1: what they've been through. Because when you think about the
- 16:56Speaker 1: immense nature, the expansive, like what the cult nature of
- 17:01Speaker 1: what they've been through and how they treated each other
- 17:04Speaker 1: as a result of what they've been through. But like
- 17:07Speaker 1: there's no other people on the planet that have had
- 17:10Speaker 1: this experience except these three women and Cody actually. And
- 17:14Speaker 1: so to have somebody who knows how to facilitate a
- 17:17Speaker 1: conversation like that, sit them down in a room and
- 17:20Speaker 1: have a real conversation. The only other time I've seen
- 17:22Speaker 1: that outside of couples therapy is actually with Iyanla Benzant
- 17:26Speaker 1: when she sat down with the Braxtons. Did you see that?
- 17:29Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:29Speaker 1: So, oh, Tamar could not handle it.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Oh, I loved it.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And Iyanla does not pull her punches. She tells you
- 17:36Speaker 1: exactly what she's seeing and what she's thinking about your situation.
- 17:39Speaker 1: And I really feel like a counselor like that, that'll
- 17:42Speaker 1: sit down with the women and oh my gosh, would
- 17:45Speaker 1: be so fantastic.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Would be so great. I just think that the majority
- 17:50Speaker 2: of these women, maybe not Mary, are like afraid of really,
- 17:53Speaker 2: I don't want to be sound cliche, but like are
- 17:56Speaker 2: really afraid of speaking the actual truth. Right. Because to
- 18:00Speaker 2: speak in that, like you would have to be okay
- 18:02Speaker 2: with hurting people's feelings or saying something offensive.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Owning your own shit.
- 18:07Speaker 2: But owning your own shit as well. And I don't
- 18:09Speaker 2: think that they're really capable of doing that. And that
- 18:12Speaker 2: To be fair, that's a really hard thing to do,
- 18:14Speaker 2: especially when you've spent.
- 18:14Speaker 1: That's why you need a counselor, somebody like Dr.
- 18:16Speaker 6: Orna.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yes. And like when you've spent your whole life hiding
- 18:20Speaker 2: yourself and not being authentic. I mean, maybe this is
- 18:23Speaker 2: why Mary wants to coach people in their authenticity because,
- 18:27Speaker 2: you know, she's. grown so much and become so authentic
- 18:30Speaker 2: in two years after leaving the.
- 18:32Speaker 1: But she has an instinct on the fact that she
- 18:34Speaker 1: wants to heal and she is a little bit premature
- 18:37Speaker 1: in trying to bring other people on a journey she
- 18:39Speaker 1: hasn't yet gone on herself.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 18:41Speaker 1: But she has the instinct to do it.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Whereas Janelle and Christine... Well, Janelle is a coach. She
- 18:47Speaker 2: made a post on Instagram this week about being a
- 18:49Speaker 2: coach and it was a lot of like... Don't even
- 18:51Speaker 2: get me started.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Psychology. It was a lot of therapy speak.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Don't even get me started.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yes. sound and fury signifying nothing but like it didn't
- 19:01Speaker 1: say a whole lot but like she's a coach and
- 19:02Speaker 1: i'm like janelle you're the most avoidant non-verbal person who
- 19:07Speaker 1: can't communicate unless you're in a rage and calling cody
- 19:10Speaker 1: out and telling him fuck you cody like you don't
- 19:12Speaker 1: talk though how can you coach people they need somebody
- 19:15Speaker 1: like dr orna or yanla van zandt who can sit
- 19:18Speaker 1: them down and prompt them in the right way to
- 19:21Speaker 1: have this hash out definitely And I just don't think
- 19:25Speaker 1: we're ever going to get that. I don't think we're
- 19:26Speaker 1: getting that in the next episode.
- 19:28Speaker 2: But it would be so... It would be great. Good.
- 19:30Speaker 2: It would be like the best thing on TLC right now.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Dream of a world where.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah. From your lips to God's ears. Yeah, I just don't...
- 19:37Speaker 2: It would be so great.
- 19:38Speaker 1: But if they have to do it themselves, they can't
- 19:40Speaker 1: do it. They don't have the intelligence. Well, and also
- 19:43Speaker 1: they're scared. They're scared of each other, but they but
- 19:46Speaker 1: they don't have like they don't have the communication they
- 19:48Speaker 1: don't have the infrastructure like how to like actually move
- 19:51Speaker 1: that conversation along so it's not going to happen i
- 19:54Speaker 1: don't think.
- 19:54Speaker 2: No but let us know your thoughts anonymous we would
- 19:57Speaker 2: love for you to call again so let us know
- 19:59Speaker 2: your thoughts from this week's episode episode four and beyond
- 20:03Speaker 2: And the last caller we have is also anonymous.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Hello, raccoons. This is another raccoon out in the Northeast, Candace.
- 20:12Speaker 3: I'm feeling a bit salty towards TLC right now because
- 20:17Speaker 3: I've been getting into Colin Gosselin's book and hearing the
- 20:21Speaker 3: horrors of his life and how TLC just thrived off that,
- 20:28Speaker 3: just exploiting those children. And they've exploited the Brown family.
- 20:32Speaker 3: And the Brown family, these parents were more than happy
- 20:35Speaker 3: to just exploit their children and their drama. And I
- 20:41Speaker 3: just think nothing good has come from this. And of course,
- 20:44Speaker 3: we have Garrison, who's no longer here. And I really
- 20:47Speaker 3: think living in polygamy, this would have happened anyway, where
- 20:51Speaker 3: the kids would have been dysfunctional from living in that
- 20:57Speaker 3: toxic environment. But You know, I was pretty much done
- 21:02Speaker 3: with the show after last season, but I decided to
- 21:05Speaker 3: come back and hear about the women just because I
- 21:10Speaker 3: want them to talk shit about Cody and Robin.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I hate them.
- 21:14Speaker 3: I hate Cody and Robin. But then I'm like watching
- 21:17Speaker 3: it and none of these, it just doesn't feel authentic
- 21:20Speaker 3: or real to me that these women would ever have
- 21:22Speaker 3: anything to do with each other after leaving Cody. So
- 21:25Speaker 3: it just doesn't feel real. And it's just a money grab.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And I feel like they've destroyed their family over greed
- 21:31Speaker 3: and money. And that's my hot take. That's it. Thank you.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I mean, I agree, honestly, for the most part. I
- 21:38Speaker 2: think TLC has always done this, though. TLC has a
- 21:43Speaker 2: habit of exploiting anyone and everyone that they can. I mean,
- 21:46Speaker 2: even back in the day, they were like, low key
- 21:49Speaker 2: exploiting people with like rare disorders and disabilities and stuff
- 21:53Speaker 2: for like the shock and awe factor. Like I was
- 21:55Speaker 2: one of those people that was watching those like crazy
- 21:57Speaker 2: medical mystery shows.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And the My Strange Addiction.
- 22:00Speaker 2: And the My Strange Addiction.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Pregnancies where they didn't know until they gave birth.
- 22:04Speaker 6: Yes.
- 22:04Speaker 2: And even 16 and Pregnant, you know, like a lot
- 22:06Speaker 2: of those shows, like they were exploiting it mainly for
- 22:09Speaker 2: the shock and awe because they knew that people like
- 22:11Speaker 2: me would watch it. because it was crazy and different
- 22:15Speaker 2: and all that stuff. And it's like, we can have
- 22:17Speaker 2: a conversation all day, every day about like the morals
- 22:20Speaker 2: and ethics of TLC. And like, what if they're, if
- 22:23Speaker 2: they're doing anything right by having these shows, because in
- 22:26Speaker 2: some regards, like some of the, you know, they do
- 22:28Speaker 2: make people famous and they give them money and stuff
- 22:30Speaker 2: like that. But then at the same time, it's like,
- 22:32Speaker 2: you are exploiting off of like people's problems and pain and,
- 22:37Speaker 2: or their medical conditions or their addictions or whatever. And so,
- 22:42Speaker 2: It becomes really unethical. And then you have like the
- 22:46Speaker 2: Duggars who were on the show for a really long time.
- 22:49Speaker 2: And then, you know, two of their sons now are
- 22:52Speaker 2: convicted pedophiles. And it's horrible that they were able to
- 22:57Speaker 2: profit off of this show and profit off of TLC.
- 23:00Speaker 2: And you have Sister Wives and then you have the Gosselins.
- 23:02Speaker 2: And there's so many examples. TLC sucks.
- 23:06Speaker 1: We all saw how Kate Gosselin treated her children and
- 23:10Speaker 1: what she did. We all saw Christine, for example, parentify
- 23:14Speaker 1: her children. And Janelle, not neglect her children, but certainly
- 23:18Speaker 1: parentify her children. And the fact that some of these
- 23:21Speaker 1: kids should have a cause against their own parents, they
- 23:25Speaker 1: might not do it, but they should. And if they
- 23:28Speaker 1: won't do it against their parents, they should do it
- 23:31Speaker 1: against TLC because the more money TLC makes exploiting families...
- 23:36Speaker 1: And couples like 90 Day Fiancé, like you have Angela
- 23:40Speaker 1: or whatever being straight up abusive. A lot of these
- 23:43Speaker 1: people are predators.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Oh, terrible.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 1: On TLC, on 90 Day Fiancé. But the more people watch,
- 23:48Speaker 1: the more money they make. And so they are incentivized
- 23:50Speaker 1: to do it. But there should be something, there should
- 23:52Speaker 1: be something that people can do to stop it because
- 23:56Speaker 1: it's wrong.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Or even like Tollers and Tiaras or like with Honey
- 24:00Speaker 2: Boo Boo and her mom. I think it's starting to
- 24:03Speaker 2: sue her mom or something because her mom like basically
- 24:06Speaker 2: took all of the money that she earned as a
- 24:08Speaker 2: literal child on TLC.
- 24:11Speaker 1: There are no protections for kids on reality TV. There
- 24:14Speaker 1: are for kids who are like in movies, the Coogan stuff,
- 24:17Speaker 1: but like not for reality TV.
- 24:19Speaker 2: And I think that's where the real change needs to
- 24:21Speaker 2: happen because kids should be able to have Like, I
- 24:24Speaker 2: don't even know what you call it. Like, protections. They
- 24:26Speaker 2: should be able to have power. They should be able
- 24:29Speaker 2: to have, like, laws against the parents using money that
- 24:32Speaker 2: the children earn on shows.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Yeah, like, in this last episode with Truly learning to drive,
- 24:37Speaker 1: did she get paid for that?
- 24:38Speaker 2: Probably not.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Who paid her? Is it going to have to be
- 24:40Speaker 1: filtered through Christine and David? Yeah, probably. And how much
- 24:43Speaker 1: are they going to pay Truly? Are they going to
- 24:44Speaker 1: put that in an account? They should.
- 24:46Speaker 2: They should.
- 24:47Speaker 1: They probably won't.
- 24:47Speaker 2: That would be the right thing to do, but they're
- 24:49Speaker 2: not going to do that, probably. I don't know. And
- 24:52Speaker 2: then to your other point, Candice, about this show, this
- 24:56Speaker 2: season in particular, feeling inauthentic, I agree. Because this is,
- 25:01Speaker 2: I mean, this is how they've always been on every season,
- 25:04Speaker 2: but you would think that if Cody and Robin are gone,
- 25:07Speaker 2: then they would feel more empowered to speak the truth,
- 25:12Speaker 2: to spill some tea, to be real with us for once.
- 25:16Speaker 2: But instead, we're getting kind of the same crap that
- 25:19Speaker 2: we've always been getting. We have Mary kind of talking
- 25:22Speaker 2: crap through her friends. Like her friends still kind of
- 25:24Speaker 2: speak for her because she's still afraid to say the
- 25:27Speaker 2: truth herself. And then Christine's kind of doing that with
- 25:30Speaker 2: David where David kind of speaks the truth for her.
- 25:34Speaker 2: So that way Christine doesn't have to say the hard shit.
- 25:36Speaker 2: And then you have a Janelle kind of avoiding it
- 25:38Speaker 2: all because she doesn't really want to air out any
- 25:41Speaker 2: of the dirty laundry. And that is disappointing as the fans.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I mean, like we've said before, like it's, it's nice
- 25:47Speaker 2: to have these tidbits and, It's nice to have these
- 25:50Speaker 2: pieces of bread thrown at us through the basement door
- 25:53Speaker 2: and that's fine. We're still going to come back for
- 25:56Speaker 2: it because we're dumb and we're rabid and we want
- 25:59Speaker 2: to watch the show, but it would be really nice
- 26:03Speaker 2: if we could get... some authenticity from these women and
- 26:06Speaker 2: it's weird to me that reality tv has become this
- 26:09Speaker 2: i mean i feel like reality tv has always been
- 26:11Speaker 2: a little produced but i don't know i feel like
- 26:13Speaker 2: back in the day back in the 90s like with
- 26:16Speaker 2: the real world and some of those earlier seasons of
- 26:18Speaker 2: survivor for example yes absolutely gritty and real and like
- 26:22Speaker 2: i loved that that's what it's supposed to be yes
- 26:25Speaker 2: and now it's just Like across the board, shows are becoming.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Super turbo produced. It's 90% bullshit.
- 26:32Speaker 2: And I just don't understand why we're doing that.
- 26:36Speaker 1: They're keeping secrets. And again, that's what keeps us on
- 26:39Speaker 1: the hook. But like if you're never going to get
- 26:40Speaker 1: to the point where you're actually telling the truth, then
- 26:42Speaker 1: what are we doing here? It's the 21st season of
- 26:45Speaker 1: Sister Wives. Like get real already.
- 26:47Speaker 7: Clock in.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Clock in.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Come on.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Clock in, honey.
- 26:51Speaker 2: You got a job to do.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Was that the last call?
- 26:54Speaker 2: That was the last call.
- 26:56Speaker 1: What do you guys think about some of these topics?
