Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Well, hey there, friends.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: How are you?
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: It's been a hot minute since we've uh been together.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's been two weeks.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: It's been two weeks since we've been together.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Uh Clay and I had our little hiatus, and uh as you can see, I am back this week.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Clay is taking one more week off to do his stuff and things.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: So that means you're stuck with me, and uh there is no one to keep me in check and be the little pinball flapper things that keep me from going off the rails.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: So I mean, buckle up.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: We'll we'll see what happens and where this goes.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I am not doing our traditional show.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I'm not covering any news items this week.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I'm just not doing it.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Because I don't feel like it.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Simple as that.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I just don't feel like it.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: I thought that we could just have a nice little conversation.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be a short show.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: I'm literally gonna do around 30 minutes or so.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: So um, if you can hang out for that time with me, I would love that.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: And uh, like I said, I can't promise you where this is gonna be going.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Uh, I'll tell you honestly, it's kind of embarrassing.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: I have attempted to record this episode uh of the Elsa Kurt show.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Uh I would probably roughly guess about 12 times.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I had a topic lined up, uh, I had it all laid out.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: I have all of my talking points sitting in front of me.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And I have stopped and restarted and stopped and restarted so many times that I finally got to the point that, you know what, maybe you should put the the talking points and the notes and all of the things aside and just sit and chat with your friends for a little while tonight.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: So I hope that works out okay for you.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Uh I hope you decide to stick around.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Um, and um, your guess is as good as mine as to what we're gonna be talking about tonight.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Right after this.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: So uh first off, right off the bat, uh let me just tell you that I had a topic planned out, like I mentioned.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I had a topic all planned out.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: I love this topic.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I can't for the life of me tell you why I'm struggling so hard with it.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Um it's just bizarre to me.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: I usually don't have any difficulty running my mouth on on any given topic.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Um, for some reason I kept hitting roadblocks with this one.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Uh, the topic was, I'll tell you what the topic was going to be.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: I was going to start off with the question of why does Jesus make people so uncomfortable?
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: And I mean, it's a great, it's a great topic.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: It's a great question, isn't it?
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think it's a great question.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Um, but for some reason, I would get maybe a quarter of the way through this and just dead stop and literally delete the whole thing and start over.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: I I was at the point tonight where I was just going to say, you know what, I'm taking one more week, too.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: I'm not even gonna, I'm not even gonna record anything.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Part of me thinks it's uh that I'm struggling because I'm honestly so not used to doing the show solo.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: I am not used to not having somebody to bounce uh things off of and banter and do all of that.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: So uh I think that's a large part of it that I'm just I'm just out of practice.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: It's so uh it's so bizarre for me to be sitting here doing this.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And that in itself is bizarre.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: It doesn't even make any sense because I make content every single day.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: I I make videos every single day, and it's always by myself.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: So I don't know what to tell you.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: I I just I can't even I can't even figure it out.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Um, so I guess I could give you like a rundown of what I've been up to the past two weeks.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: How does that sound?
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And maybe you can jump in in the comment section and tell me what you've been up to for the past two weeks.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know that's a long, probably gonna be a long comment if you try and fit two weeks worth of stuff in a comment section.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Um, but if you want to, go for it.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Um next.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: So I have an extremely difficult time relaxing.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Um, I my brain is always working.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: It's always I call it the monkey brain.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know about you.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: If you have a monkey brain, you totally get it, where your monkey brain is always bouncing around and you have five trillion different ideas of things that you want to do, and you try and do them all at once.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: I have this terrible habit of thinking that um every idea that I have, I have to do it all in one day.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: I don't know why I'm the way that I am.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: It's very annoying to me to be like that.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Um, it works a lot of times it actually works fine, except for the fact that I'm exhausted by the end of the day and I don't know how to shut down.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So uh poor me, right?
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: I'm playing the violin for myself.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: No, I'm kidding.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm not complaining.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: It's uh just stating facts and it's just kind of to preface the next thing I'm gonna be telling you about.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Um I I have so many projects.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: I have so many projects that I can't even help myself.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: You know what it is?
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: It's it's simply because there's so many opportunities and so many things that I I keep seeing that I want to do.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: And then that sparks another idea, and then another idea.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: And then all of these ideas to to make them happen, to bring them to fruition, it's all right at my, your, our fingertips.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Like all of the things that served as obstacles before, um, knowledge, access, you know, all of that stuff, those barriers are completely gone.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: And maybe you already guessed where I'm going with that.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: That is largely thanks to AI.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: And before you yell at me, before you get mad at me, I understand there are things, many things about AI that are detrimental, that are bad for us, that do not serve us in a good way.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: I understand that.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: I counter that with well, first of all, yes, that is absolutely true.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: I'm not arguing it.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but let me just balance that out with another truth.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: That is true.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: This is also true.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: They both can be true at the same time, okay?
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: AI has so many things that are bad and bad for people in general and very concrete ways.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: AI also opens up doors and avenues and possibilities to people who did not have them before.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: And we're talking about financial education, um, learning, um, learning how to trade stocks and what that even means.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's not in my realm of interest.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: My husband is totally interested in that.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Um, but I'm not.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: But if you were, like all of the information, everything that you could possibly need to learn about any given topic, is accessible to you now.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: You don't have to pay for a course, you don't have to go anywhere for it.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: It is right at your fingertips.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And to me, it is absolutely insane to not take advantage of those kinds of opportunities.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Now, the downside for me, for someone like me, is that it allows for my monkey brain to go on all of these different tangents and roads and avenues and rabbit holes and all of the things.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Again, is that a bad thing?
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: No, it I just need to, I need structure, I need discipline, I need schedules and all of those things.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: And guess what?
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: AI is helping me do that.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: It's actually keeping me in check.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Because I told it to.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: I said, I have this tendency to do this thing.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: So you need to make sure that I do not do that.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Keep me on task.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And when I start going down rabbit holes, you need to yank me back in.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: And my AI is like, no problem, I got you.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: And it does the things.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Um so so yeah.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: So one of those things with AI, thanks to AI, is I had this idea.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Some of you know this already.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: So um, some of you watching have no idea about this.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: But um, also, you may not know, because I don't know who watches this.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Um, you may or may not know that I am an author.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: Authorship was the very first thing that I did in the media lane, and then everything else came after that.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: So uh I've written like 25, no more than that now.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: It let's just say 25.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: I've written about 25 or so books, and um I started off with children's books, then I moved into young adult and then um contemporary fiction and then some nonfiction works.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: So I I do have a lot of works out there and I would love for you to check them out.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: So please do.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Um, but the latest project that I took on was in regards to AI because I I got to thinking after an interview with a guest that um, and we were talking about AI, and I was like, you know what?
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: There's I and there's tons of books about AI, tons of books, tons of guides and info.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: So mine isn't special in any way, shape, or form.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: It's just another one that's out there, and if it appeals to you, it appeals to you.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: But I I was thinking that they needed to be these books needed to be your guides, really, because they're not long at all.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: They need to be targeted to very specific groups.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Because uh, if you're, for example, the first one that I put out was AI for grandparents.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: So the series is called Let's Talk AI, and this one is AI for grandparents.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: And um, it it is just a very targeted direct guide for that group of people.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: The next one that I'm putting out is going to be for authors, very specifically geared towards authors and how they can use AI to um, I mean, gosh, just for every aspect of the writing, publishing, and promoting process.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Um, and then there'll be some more after that too.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: I've got like a whole list of them.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: So that was something that I was working on.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: That was a project that I was working on with thanks to AI, with help from AI.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: And um, it's you know, really cool.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Now listen, there are plenty of people.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: There are gonna be people in this audience that are like, nope, not gonna read it.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Nope, not doing anything with AI, not not gonna even participate in.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Well, you know what?
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you are unwittingly participating or uh working with AI in almost if you're online, you're working with AI.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: You're you're doing things with uh AI.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: So you can't avoid it unless you completely shut it all down and have no technology whatsoever.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: So uh, you know, I'm sorry if you you hate the whole concept and the whole thing.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: You don't have to use it in the way that I use it.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Um, but uh unfortunately it is, well, fortunately and unfortunately, it is out of the box, it's out of Pandora's box.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: It is in the world, it is what we use more often than than we realize and more avenues than we realize.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: So you can either use it to benefit you and your life and the people around you, or you can use it for not good things.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: That is a choice that we all have to make, right?
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: I choose to use it to create um works that help other people and help my family by helping to provide for us.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: So yeah, there's that.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: There is thing one or one million and one, I guess.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: Um, the next thing, oh gosh, a lot of these things tie in with AI.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: But uh the next thing, just recently I did this, I or this past week, I started working, so you may or may not know, I have a whole line of merchandise that I created.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Um, there's faithware, there's patriotic wear, there's Elsa Kirchhow merchandise, um, there's a whole bunch of stuff.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: But I created this line of merchandise that's called the Good Things Collection.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: And they're like these cool retro vintage-looking uh designs with what I think are cute, cool, sassy uh sayings on them or quotes.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: And um, I am so madly in love with this line.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: They they are coming out, they are so beautiful, in my opinion.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: And um, they're they're being very well received.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: So thank you guys for all of you who've placed orders and and uh commented how much you love them and asked me about my mug.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: So I even have my mug down here.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: What a bad um uh promo person I am right now, not even having anything.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, I have a candle behind me.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: I can shake if I don't knock it over.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, this is oh, we gotta get get it off, get it off the glare.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Get the glare off of there.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this one is uh sorry, there's too much glare, but South Side of the Kingdom.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: That's what this one is.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: And they're just called they're the conservative conservative version of pinup girls, basically.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: So they're wholesome and sassy and cute and pretty and um yeah, so there's that.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: So what happened was this past week I was working on some designs and I remembered that months ago I posted something about it, and someone in the comment section said, Are you gonna be making any for people of color?
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Oh my gosh, wow, that's actually a great idea.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: But then I also realized if I start going down this rabbit hole and trying to um make something that represents every single shade and tone and ethnicity and this and that, like it will never end.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: It will never, I will have like a thousand designs and it still won't be enough because somebody else will say, Are you going to make one for so-and-so?
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: I'm one person.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: I'm one person.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: I nobody works for or with me.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I do all of the things.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: So at some point I have to rein myself in and slow it down and pick and choose.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: So that's what I decided.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: The lines that I have out are the lines that I have out.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: And that's what led me to the next thought.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: So as I was working on the newest one, which is uh this one up on the screen here, I remembered that comment and I felt kind of bummed out.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, geez, I really wish I I could be that person that could do all of that plus all of the other things, but I have to draw the line, right?
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: And then I went, wait a minute.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: No, I don't.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: What if I do custom orders?
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: What if I just do custom orders for people?
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: And that sent me down the next rabbit hole.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: Because it can't be just as simple as, hey, email me your picture and I'll make you a design.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: No, it's got to be professional, it's got to be orderly, it's got to be, you know, done right.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: Well, that means I had to have a page on my website for exclusively that.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: That meant that I had to build a page for the website.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: I'm not a web developer.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: So I was a little stressed out about this prospect because I don't know what to do.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: And then it dawned on me, wait a minute.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: Chat, I use ChatGPT, by the way.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: I also use Grok.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: Um, but chat is the one I go to for most things.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: So I was like, wait a minute, chat can walk me through step by step.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: Guess what chat did?
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Chat walked me through step by step by step.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: It was an extremely long and tedious project to put together this page on my website.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: And then by the way, I had to create templates.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: And I had there's so many things, I would bore you to pieces if I took you down the journey of creating this whole thing.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: But let me just tell you, AI helps you.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: AI does not do the work for you.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: So I worked my butt off on this thing, okay?
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: And I'm very pleased with the way it turns out some some quirks and kinks that I still want to fix and just visually, just aesthetically make look better.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: But within a matter of days, uh in under a week, I was able to put this entire thing together, make this available to people.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: And I wanted, of course, I wanted it in time for uh the holidays because I've got these super, super cute holiday designs.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: So, of course, I needed to get this done like five minutes ago so that the order forms would be up and available.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: So there's that.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: That is the next thing I was working on.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: Did I mention that I'm working on the second book in the series for the AI series?
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm working on that too.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Did I mention you get the idea?
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of stuff, and I love doing it.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, I know what else.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: So a while back, now you guys may have seen uh that I've been doing a lot of uh interviews, like a lot of they're mostly authors.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: I've been doing a ton of interviews.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Um I put them out um usually on weekday mornings, and um and they've been just a joy to do.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: I've really enjoyed it.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: So what happened was um sometime last year, I think it was, I've been doing this for a little while now.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Sometime last year, a company reached out to me and uh asked if I do author interviews, uh paid interviews, meaning they pay me to interview them.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: Why would they do that, Elsa?
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: Um because I'm very blessed to have a really nice platform.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Um I have between my platforms, I hate saying things like this because it feels so braggy and it makes me just want to cringe.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: Um between my platforms, I have well over a million followers between them all.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Facebook alone has um uh almost, I think it's like 530,000 followers.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: And that is, I can't even wrap my brain around it.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: I can't even.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: I just can't.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm humbled and I'm grateful, and sometimes I'm a little bit alarmed by it.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: Um it's just wild.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: But because of that, that's why this company reached out to me because they knew that I had a large platform and that that would give their authors um a better chance at exposure.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: So I had wanted to do this, ironically, um, my gosh, about six, seven, well, right before COVID.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: This was an idea that I had that I wanted to do.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: I wanted to have these sponsored or offer these um paid interviews to people who didn't have much of a platform or much experience with promoting themselves.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: And I offered, wanted to offer them these interview packages where they would um get the interview.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: The interview would air on my social media platforms.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: They would get uh clips, you know, reels, uh shorts, whatever you want to call them, and a bunch of other things.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: So I would put together this whole media package for them based off of the interview that they could use um for their own websites or social media, all that stuff.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: So that was that idea.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: Then COVID came around, blah, blah, blah, all that stuff.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: So, and at that time, I didn't have the following that I have now.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: So it wasn't honestly, it wasn't that great of an offer to people because I didn't have much of a place to put them, right?
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: So now I do.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: Now companies are coming to me and asking me to do this, which I am thrilled to do because this is one of the things that I really, really wanted to do all along.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: So amazing, right?
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: Um, so that's one of the things that I do now.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: I create um author interview packages for people who are just trying to kind of get a foothold in the media lane.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: So if you have a a book that you've written and published and you want to promote it and you don't have much of a platform, and you know, you just don't, you just don't have the things to kind of have a presence.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Um we get together, we do the interview, blah, blah, blah, all the stuff and things, and voila.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: So that's been a really, really great experience.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: And I'm looking to expand that some more.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: So I mean, did I mention that I'm never bored?
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: Like I am I haven't been bored in more than a decade, probably even longer than that.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: But uh yeah, I love doing all of the things, and I cannot, cannot believe that I am this blessed that I get to do all of the things.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: I feel like an I feel like a giant toddler who gets to do whatever they want whenever they want.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: It's it's crazy.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: I I love my life.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: I just, and I'm so sorry if that sounds so braggy.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: Um, and if it doesn't sound humble, I I I truly am humbled by all of the blessings.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: I I sit here in disbelief at all of it.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: I can't believe that I just get to sit here in front of a camera and just share random thoughts.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: Like, really?
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: It's really it's so crazy to me.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's probably crazy to you watching.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: And especially if you're somebody who doesn't follow my content, doesn't really know what I'm I'm about and and what I'm doing and where my heart is and all of that.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: You potentially are sitting here going, wow, isn't she full of herself?
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: No, good for her, yifty-do.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: I get it, I don't blame you for saying that or thinking that, but um I I'm just grateful.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: I'm just grateful and I'm so excited uh for all of the different things that I I I get to do and put out in the world.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: And you know, here's the thing about every single one of them uh past, present, and future.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Um, I have had the Ton of fails, a ton of fails.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Um, I have had a record number of missteps and bad decisions and, you know, things that just didn't work the way I thought they would.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: Uh, I've had so many stops and restarts, you know, kind of like I was telling you right at the beginning of this, with this very podcast episode that I did a bare, I might be lowballing it when I say 12 times, I stopped the recording, deleted it, and started over again.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: Um you just keep going.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Like if somebody is sitting here going, how do you do the things?
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Like, I want to know how to do the things.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: Um, you just keep doing it until you get it right uh or until it succeeds, and you just simply don't stop and you don't quit and you don't let your uh failures become your roadblocks.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: Your failures are just your stepping stones.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: And I know that sounds super, super cliche.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: It's probably crocheted on a um doily somewhere.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: Um, but you just simply keep trying over and over and over and over and over again.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: And you don't even blink.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Don't even blink at the fails.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: Like just step right over them.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Doesn't even matter.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: And for every one person who points out your fails or, you know, saw that you failed, um, the rest of the world has no clue.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: Generally speaking, nobody even knows, nobody even cares.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: And I think that's, you know, that's probably one of the things that I knew early on.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: Um, I'll give you an example.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: When I published my first novel, which is a young adult um novel called Into the Everwood, that first copy, dude, it was so bad.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: Let me let me say this.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: It was a great story.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: It's it's is a great story.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: It was a great story, amateurishly written.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Like it was so amateur.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: It was so bad.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: The cover, so bad.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: Everything about it was so bad.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: My storytelling was so not good.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Um, but the essence of the story was there.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: And I put and I had the audacity to put that thing out on Amazon and talk about it on social media and give it to, oh, I just cringe when I think about it, but um, give it to friends and or or friends or family.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: People bought it, and that's so embarrassing.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but in the grand scheme, you know, I realized in the grand scheme of things, like there were so few people who saw that giant misstep that it I kind of realized, like, what does it matter?
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: It's not that big of a deal.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: Just dust yourself off, pull it off of Amazon, rewrite it, do it better, and republish it.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Do it again.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: So I don't know, maybe that speaks to somebody here.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Maybe whether it's uh, you know, a book that you've written and published and pulled off because um you decided that it's terrible, um, just dust it off, redo it.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: You learn more, just keep learning things, learn more, and you'll be fine.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Just put it out there.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: And, you know, uh like I said, nobody cares.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: And it that sounds like it's a bad thing, right?
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: It's actually a good thing.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Because once you shake off that whole, everybody's looking at me, everybody saw me fall, everybody's everybody's making fun of me.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: Once you shake that off, you're like, it doesn't even matter.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Doesn't even matter.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: And if somebody does point out your mistakes or your missteps, whatever, laugh it off, shake it off.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: But also don't forget that that person was the kind of person that was pointing out your fails and not your wins.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: Watch out for those people.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, what else can I tell you?
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, what a strange little episode this was.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: This was a very all about me episode.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: But then again, it is the Elsa Kurt show.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: It's the Elsa Kurt show, so I guess once in a while it's okay for me to talk about myself, right?
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: Right, we're going with that.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: Um, this was not even more than a second of the original plan, right?
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: The original plan I told you at the very beginning was that I was going to pose the question, why does Jesus make people so uncomfortable?
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: And we I we never even went down that road.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: And it was because simply it it just wasn't the time.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: Tonight wasn't the night to go down that road.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: And I don't know why.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: I don't know why.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: Maybe because I wasn't prepared enough for it, maybe because I I tried to over-prepare for it, maybe because I um the message wasn't right.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: Am I disappointed?
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because one of my favorite things to do is to talk about Jesus.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: I love to talk about Jesus.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: So it was super weird that this wasn't the entire focus of the evening like I had planned.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: I don't get it.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: I just I don't get things most of the time.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: The the why of where things go.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: Um and am I bummed?
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I am bummed.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: I'm definitely bummed that that's not the direction this went in.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: But I did say at the beginning, I was just gonna, it was gonna be a free-for-all tonight.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: I was just gonna go wherever the road took me, wherever the you know, monkey brain said to go down, or what path the monkey brain said to go down.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: And the one we went down there was just like kind of a whole 30 minutes or so of promo.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Hmm, that's awkward.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: But maybe somebody watching or listening got something out of this that they needed to hear.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe it was a uh an encouragement to go ahead and use AI in a ethical, productive, useful, positive manner.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: Maybe it was that.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: Maybe it was somebody who needed some encouragement for um taking on some of those entrepreneurial endeavors that they've been thinking about.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: I hope that you got something of value out of this conversation tonight.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Um, I I did in the sense that I got to talk about the things that I'm doing, which I always get really uncomfortable doing that because I don't like being salesy or promo-e.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: It's not even a word, whatever.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: But I guess this was the night to do it.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: Um I am looking forward to, I am so looking forward to Clay being back next week with me so that we can uh chit-chat and catch up and talk about all the stuff and things.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: And um I look forward to chatting with you guys in the comments section.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: So um don't hesitate to drop me your thoughts.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: And um I I think that's it.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: I think that's all I've got for tonight.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: So yeah, thanks for watching or for listening, whichever the case is.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: Don't forget to like, follow, share, subscribe, blah, blah, blah, all the stuff and things.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, all of my stuff that I talked about tonight, they are uh on my website.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: They are um, I think they're in the bios of all of my pages.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: Um that's pretty much everywhere.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, you can you can find all of my stuff pretty, pretty easily.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: But if you can't, you can you know drop me a comment on here and I will just drop you a link.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: How about that?
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Does that work?
- 29:23unknown: Okay, cool.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: All right, guys.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: Hope that wasn't too awkward for us all.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was awkward for me, but it's all good.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: I'll see you guys next week.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: Take care.
