- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's your dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture
- 0:08Speaker 2: news twice a week.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I'm Kate Torber. I'm Amy Torber. And I'm Sophie Torber.
- 0:13Speaker 2: And coming up on today's show, Tammy Hembrough and Rhys Hawkins'
- 0:17Speaker 2: secret date. Occult Australian activewear brand goes into receivership. And
- 0:21Speaker 2: Sam Guggenheimer's first class snub. But first, Aussie influencer Lauren
- 0:27Speaker 2: Lackin has sparked debate about appropriate pool attire after she
- 0:31Speaker 2: and her family were denied entry into a public pool
- 0:34Speaker 2: in France.
- 0:35Speaker 1: The family of.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Four were turned away for hygiene reasons. Now, Soph, before
- 0:39Speaker 2: we get into the controversy, can you bring listeners up
- 0:42Speaker 2: to speed on who Lauren is? Well, she is a
- 0:45Speaker 2: micro-influencer with 54.6 thousand followers on Instagram, and recently she's
- 0:50Speaker 2: been sharing about her Euro adventures and what it's like
- 0:53Speaker 2: travelling with her two kids and husband. Now, it's quite
- 0:56Speaker 2: interesting because in her bio, she has included that it's
- 0:59Speaker 2: her first Euro summer at 40 years old. And this week,
- 1:04Speaker 2: she learned a lesson in French pool etiquette. So the
- 1:07Speaker 2: family decided to visit a public pool near their Airbnb,
- 1:11Speaker 2: but were quickly turned away because Lauren's husband and son
- 1:14Speaker 2: were wearing board shorts. Now, she uploaded her family's reaction
- 1:18Speaker 2: to her Instagram account. Let's take a listen to what
- 1:21Speaker 2: went down.
- 1:23Speaker 3: We went to go in, and they wouldn't allow kids
- 1:26Speaker 3: to wear.
- 1:27Speaker 1: No swim shorts allowed. No board shorts. You have to
- 1:31Speaker 1: wear Euro shorts or Speedos.
- 1:33Speaker 4: So they must be boxer briefs, they must be skin tight,
- 1:36Speaker 4: and hugging the genitalia to enter the pool.
- 1:41Speaker 3: These are too conservative, apparently. I don't know about being
- 1:44Speaker 3: too conservative, but that's the rule. So just be warned,
- 1:47Speaker 3: maybe pack some of those. They had a vending machine
- 1:50Speaker 3: there where you could buy them. But Houston also in
- 1:53Speaker 3: his little board shorts couldn't.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Get in with the boys.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Girls, you could wear whatever, but the boys, you had
- 1:59Speaker 3: to wear the like Speedos.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I had no idea this was a thing. I mean,
- 2:05Speaker 2: I've never been to France before. But I have never
- 2:08Speaker 2: heard of Euro shorts. I mean, you've been, have you,
- 2:11Speaker 2: did you know this was a thing? I didn't go
- 2:12Speaker 2: swimming in France, but I'm pretty impressed that they have
- 2:15Speaker 2: vending machines full of bathers.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Like what the hell?
- 2:18Speaker 2: It sounds like Tokyo where they've got vending machines for everything.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I mean, it's clearly revenue raising.
- 2:23Speaker 2: They obviously make a lot of money from turning people
- 2:25Speaker 2: away in the wrong bathers. I mean, clearly a lot
- 2:27Speaker 2: of tourists don't know that this is a thing. That's
- 2:29Speaker 2: why it is so lucrative for them. It sounds like
- 2:31Speaker 2: they're charging a bit of a premium at this private
- 2:34Speaker 2: pool as well. Now, for those who are just as
- 2:37Speaker 2: confused as me, I want to go into what's Euro
- 2:39Speaker 2: shorts are because I had to look up the definition. Now,
- 2:42Speaker 2: they are also referred to as Euro swim trunks or
- 2:45Speaker 2: Euro briefs, and they are a classic form-fitting brief that
- 2:49Speaker 2: leaves the upper leg completely bare. So they're basically swimwear
- 2:53Speaker 2: that looks like boxer briefs or trunks. Now, it says
- 2:57Speaker 2: online that they are mandatory in public pools in many
- 3:00Speaker 2: parts of Europe for hygiene reasons. as they consider baggy
- 3:04Speaker 2: board shorts as street wear and think that they can
- 3:07Speaker 2: carry dirt into the water. Now, reading between the lines,
- 3:10Speaker 2: this is because, in particular, a lot of Aussie men
- 3:14Speaker 2: wear their jocks under their board shorts. And who knows
- 3:19Speaker 2: how many days they've had those jocks on for, and
- 3:21Speaker 2: they don't want that filth carried into the pool.
- 3:23Speaker 1: And I think I could kind of get around this. Yeah,
- 3:26Speaker 1: I always find it odd when people wear.
- 3:28Speaker 2: jocks under their bathers it's like wait a sec aren't
- 3:31Speaker 2: you meant to be wearing like what's the purpose i've
- 3:33Speaker 2: never seen women walk in with their bonds undies on
- 3:35Speaker 2: into the pool i recently had this debate with a
- 3:37Speaker 2: group of people at a wedding and there was one
- 3:40Speaker 2: guy there who was adamant that he only ever wears
- 3:42Speaker 2: speedos under his board shorts and i admitted well i
- 3:46Speaker 2: mean on behalf of my husband he he wears undies
- 3:49Speaker 2: when he goes swimming under his board shorts and by
- 3:51Speaker 2: the end of our honeymoon i literally all of the
- 3:54Speaker 2: dye had run, the chlorine had got into them, the
- 3:57Speaker 2: elastic was gone. Like you can see why it doesn't work.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I'm just confused though. What are people actually worried about?
- 4:02Speaker 2: Because if you're concerned about being in a pool of
- 4:06Speaker 2: water with someone's underpants, Well, their bum and their dick
- 4:09Speaker 2: and their balls and.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Everything's in the pool anyway.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So if someone's got skitties, they're going to have skitties
- 4:16Speaker 2: on their bum. Well, the thing is I had never
- 4:18Speaker 2: really considered the whole undies thing from a germ perspective
- 4:22Speaker 2: because there's so much chlorine in the pool that all
- 4:25Speaker 2: those germs are going to die anyway. I more thought
- 4:28Speaker 2: about it from a looks perspective. Like when you see
- 4:30Speaker 2: someone's Bonds or Calvin Klein undies, underneath.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I just don't think it's the best look.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Did you guys see that Abby Chatfield's boyfriend, Adam Hyde,
- 4:38Speaker 2: he is now the new poster boy for Bonds. So
- 4:42Speaker 2: they've got rid of Robert Irwin. He's no longer the
- 4:44Speaker 2: Bonds boy this year. The announcement wasn't quite met with
- 4:47Speaker 2: the excitement when Robert.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Irwin was revealed.
- 4:52Speaker 2: But there was one photo that confused a lot of
- 4:54Speaker 2: people and it was Adam wearing two pairs of jocks.
- 4:58Speaker 1: So it was like a close-up. You couldn't even see
- 4:59Speaker 1: his face.
- 5:00Speaker 2: It was just his like abs and just two pairs
- 5:03Speaker 2: of jocks, like two bonds.
- 5:04Speaker 1: What, they were just layered? Yeah, they were layered. Everyone's like,
- 5:07Speaker 1: why has he got two? Has he double-bagged his?
- 5:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Is that in case you get caught short?
- 5:12Speaker 2: On the topic of sort of etiquette around bathers and underwear,
- 5:15Speaker 2: you know how they have that sticky tag in bathers
- 5:18Speaker 2: that you're not meant to peel off, like a hygiene thing?
- 5:21Speaker 2: This girl I follow who is an influencer, we actually
- 5:24Speaker 2: met her at an Adelaide event and she's moved to
- 5:26Speaker 2: Melbourne now. She's the nicest girl. Her name's Chloe Ferrari.
- 5:29Speaker 2: And anyway, she went to try on some leggings at
- 5:32Speaker 2: a store. And when she was trying them on, she
- 5:34Speaker 2: noticed that one pair of leggings had someone else's dry
- 5:37Speaker 2: discharge in them. She's like, who the fuck is trying
- 5:40Speaker 2: on leggings without underpants on? Has anyone ever had this
- 5:44Speaker 2: thought during an important meeting with like older people that
- 5:48Speaker 2: that there are a number of dicks or vaginas in
- 5:50Speaker 2: the room. I know that sounds really odd. But you
- 5:53Speaker 2: know when people say to humanise other people, I have
- 5:55Speaker 2: thought it's so weird that there's just this cloth of
- 5:58Speaker 2: material and everyone's just flopping about. I think we need
- 6:02Speaker 2: to get back to this pool story because it is
- 6:04Speaker 2: quite a funny one. Yeah, the people that are outraged
- 6:06Speaker 2: by the Laika poo ads are going to be like, oh,
- 6:08Speaker 2: this is just foul.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Well, like the thing that... They've said dick and balls
- 6:13Speaker 1: and discharge in one topic.
- 6:16Speaker 2: The thing that makes me laugh most about this whole
- 6:18Speaker 2: rule is that the French seem to be so put
- 6:21Speaker 2: off by men wearing board shorts, but they're fine for
- 6:23Speaker 2: them to get around in dick bathers.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I have to drop that term. That is a term
- 6:26Speaker 1: my in-laws use all the time. I mean, that term
- 6:29Speaker 1: gives me the absolute ick. But you've got to be
- 6:31Speaker 1: pretty confident to pull off some budgie smugglers, don't you?
- 6:33Speaker 1: You've got to have a big dick to wear a
- 6:35Speaker 1: pair of budgie smugglers. Well, I feel like.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Jade Twinchy's husband, Lockie Brackie, is always rocking them.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Is that in reference to videos? I think he was
- 6:44Speaker 1: an underwear model at some point. Well, I mean, I.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Think the reason that Lauren and her family got so
- 6:54Speaker 2: confused by this rule is because a lot of Aussies
- 6:57Speaker 2: go to Asia for their summer holidays and usually you're
- 7:00Speaker 2: having to make an effort to cover up for religious reasons,
- 7:03Speaker 2: not show more skin. But in France, they're like, come on,
- 7:05Speaker 2: get it out. We want to see it.
- 7:07Speaker 1: That's what I was confused by.
- 7:08Speaker 2: So like if a woman turns up in like a
- 7:11Speaker 2: rashie and wants to be conservative, does she have to
- 7:13Speaker 2: just wear like a tiny jeans?
- 7:15Speaker 1: No, we have a vending machine for bikinis and jeans.
- 7:19Speaker 2: No, well, I looked into the rules and it looks
- 7:21Speaker 2: like they do prefer women to wear a one piece
- 7:23Speaker 2: if possible.
- 7:24Speaker 1: They're also fanatical about swimming caps. So a lot of
- 7:29Speaker 1: people pointed out in Lauren's comment section that that if
- 7:31Speaker 1: you don't bring a swimming cap to some public pools,
- 7:34Speaker 1: you're also barred. So apparently that is for hygiene reasons
- 7:38Speaker 1: as well and water filtration reasons.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Can you imagine France's version of Love Island? They're all
- 7:43Speaker 2: rocking swimming caps and Euro shorts.
- 7:46Speaker 1: They're funny about thongs as well.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And I have to point out when I'm talking about thongs,
- 7:50Speaker 2: I mean flip-flops because apparently patrons.
- 7:53Speaker 1: are required.
- 7:54Speaker 2: To walk barefoot to the pool. They can't have their
- 7:57Speaker 2: thongs on the pool deck as well for cleanliness reasons.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I mean, what happens in France if you piss in
- 8:02Speaker 1: the pool? Is that like an immediate $ 10, 000 fine? Because
- 8:05Speaker 1: I've been guilty of that before. Well, that's disgusting.
- 8:08Speaker 2: But you know how your parents used to tell you
- 8:10Speaker 2: when you're a kid that if you pee in the pool,
- 8:12Speaker 2: the pool turns a different color. I bet they've invented
- 8:15Speaker 2: something that actually makes this happen. And you are literally,
- 8:17Speaker 2: like it probably turns yellow and you're literally like hauled out.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Of the pool area and put into jail.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Dale and I were talking the other day because it's
- 8:26Speaker 2: his dream to get a pool and he's like, one
- 8:27Speaker 2: day we're going to get a pool. And he was
- 8:29Speaker 2: saying he'd love to have like seats where you could
- 8:31Speaker 2: have like a bar in the pool. And I said, Dale,
- 8:33Speaker 2: that is literally encouraging people to come over and piss
- 8:36Speaker 2: in your pool.
- 8:37Speaker 1: It's just like saying, yep, just wee.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I think I may have spoken on the podcast about
- 8:41Speaker 2: a Christmas party incident like 15 years ago at one
- 8:44Speaker 2: of my first employer's. where one of the guys offered
- 8:47Speaker 2: up his house for the party and he was so
- 8:50Speaker 2: proud of this spa he had. And I remember sitting
- 8:53Speaker 2: in it and being like, I've gotten up at least
- 8:54Speaker 2: twice to have a wee. And these men have been
- 8:56Speaker 2: sitting in this spa for like three hours drinking beers.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And then when we got out of the spa, it
- 9:01Speaker 2: was literally yellow. And the poor guy had to end
- 9:04Speaker 2: up like draining it. Can I point out, I used
- 9:08Speaker 2: to be a culprit of this. Like when I would
- 9:10Speaker 2: go on holidays, I could, as a decade ago, I
- 9:13Speaker 2: used to occasionally piss in the pool if I really
- 9:16Speaker 2: couldn't be.
- 9:16Speaker 1: You were still 27. Like, that's not okay. Well, no, actually,
- 9:19Speaker 1: I think it was when I was 25. Not that
- 9:21Speaker 1: that makes it much better.
- 9:22Speaker 2: But now, I mean, I don't actually get in the
- 9:24Speaker 2: pool that often, but now I wouldn't do it.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I wouldn't do it now. Now that I'm a mother.
- 9:28Speaker 5: Anyway.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Getting back to this video. I think you'd have more
- 9:31Speaker 1: of an excuse to do it now because your bladder
- 9:33Speaker 1: is probably not strong.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Is that the theory though that in those types of shorts,
- 9:36Speaker 2: the swim shorts, that you could see someone urinate?
- 9:39Speaker 1: Maybe they think in the board shorts you could hide
- 9:41Speaker 1: it a bit more. Yeah, true. Well, Lauren's video, as
- 9:45Speaker 1: you could imagine, received a massive response.
- 9:47Speaker 2: At the time of recording, it's had 3.7 million views
- 9:51Speaker 2: and a lot of people were getting fired up in
- 9:53Speaker 2: the comment section. because her video seemed to reach a
- 9:56Speaker 2: lot of people in France who pointed out that the
- 9:59Speaker 2: rule had nothing to do with moral or conservative dressing
- 10:02Speaker 2: rather hygiene one person wrote proper pool hygiene an incredible
- 10:06Speaker 2: amount of boys and men wear their normal underwear under
- 10:09Speaker 2: those shorts or never change and use them as street
- 10:11Speaker 2: wear and never properly pre-shower.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I wish it was like this everywhere I really like
- 10:16Speaker 1: this comment.
- 10:17Speaker 2: One user said, love the fact that somewhere someone is
- 10:19Speaker 2: judging men's clothing and not women's. And a lot of
- 10:23Speaker 2: other people pointed out that their favorite thing is when
- 10:25Speaker 2: Europeans show up to American beaches in their speedos and
- 10:28Speaker 2: everyone laughs at them and then they have to go
- 10:30Speaker 2: and buy board shorts.
- 10:34Speaker 5: We arrived 23 hours later and let me tell you,
- 10:38Speaker 5: I did not sleep that whole time, which is so
- 10:39Speaker 5: crazy for me and I'm dying now.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Sam Guggenheimer and her boyfriend Ryan Maloney's travel plans have
- 10:45Speaker 2: divided opinions online. Over the weekend, the new couple jetted
- 10:49Speaker 2: off to Europe just weeks after their getaway to the Maldives. Kate,
- 10:52Speaker 2: I'm so confused. Is Sam Guggenheimer dating Toadie from Neighbours?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Ryan Maloney is Toadie from Neighbours. As the expert Sam
- 11:00Speaker 2: Guggenheimer reporter, that's what Soph and I have been calling
- 11:03Speaker 2: you off, Mike.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Please confirm.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got to fight to get Sam Guggenheimer stories
- 11:07Speaker 2: on this podcast. For some reason, you guys don't find
- 11:10Speaker 2: her that interesting, but I think a lot of our
- 11:11Speaker 2: listeners do. I think it's because she's 24 and I've
- 11:14Speaker 2: never really related to her or.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Connected to her on any level. I mean, we're living
- 11:18Speaker 1: very different lives.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I found myself now watching very different YouTube. Like the
- 11:23Speaker 2: other day, this young girl's YouTube popped up and it
- 11:26Speaker 2: was all about health and fitness. And I was like, babe,
- 11:28Speaker 2: I cannot relate to this. Like she was complaining about
- 11:30Speaker 2: the lack of time she had in her day. And
- 11:31Speaker 2: I've turned into that person that I've hated.
- 11:33Speaker 1: That's like, oh, you don't know the half of it. See,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I actually hate followed those people now.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Like people in their mid twenties, I sit back and
- 11:40Speaker 2: with my with my fridge ciggy and I roll my
- 11:42Speaker 2: eyes and my husband's forced to watch and go.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Oh God, look at them complaining. They don't even do anything.
- 11:47Speaker 2: And then you rejoice when they announce their pregnancy because
- 11:49Speaker 2: you're like, oh my God, finally, they're going to have.
- 11:51Speaker 1: To do something.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I feel like we need to change the word hate
- 11:54Speaker 2: follow though, because it sounds really mean, It doesn't sum
- 11:57Speaker 2: up how I follow people. Like I enjoy to watch
- 12:00Speaker 2: people that have different stages of life and roll my eyes,
- 12:03Speaker 2: but I don't consider that.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Hating on them. It's like an intrigue follow.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Yes.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Can we rename it something else? Anyway, Kate, you need
- 12:09Speaker 2: to get on. What's Sam Guggenheimer up to this week? Well,
- 12:13Speaker 2: just to confirm, she's not dating the actor that plays
- 12:16Speaker 2: Toadie on Neighbours.
- 12:17Speaker 3: No.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Amy, you were actually absent on the episode where Sophie
- 12:21Speaker 2: and I went into her relationship with Ryan Maloney. So
- 12:23Speaker 2: he is a DJ and he is the son of
- 12:26Speaker 2: two incredibly wealthy parents. His mum, Di Maloney, is renowned
- 12:31Speaker 2: for holding these massive parties on New Year's Eve. Anyway,
- 12:35Speaker 2: so it turns out that Ryan has begged Sam to
- 12:38Speaker 2: go on this trip to Europe with him. And she
- 12:40Speaker 2: put out a bit of a disclaimer last week on
- 12:42Speaker 2: her TikTok saying, oh, you know, I don't have enough
- 12:45Speaker 2: money to go and I really need to work on myself.
- 12:47Speaker 2: But my boyfriend managed to convince me to go to
- 12:50Speaker 2: Europe with him. She's just forced herself to go. I mean,
- 12:53Speaker 2: she really had to twist her arm for a trip
- 12:55Speaker 2: to Europe.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Very relatable content there.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Now, it turns out that Ryan booked himself first class
- 13:02Speaker 2: tickets as you do.
- 13:03Speaker 1: And Sam was stuck in economy.
- 13:06Speaker 2: The night before the flight, she obviously was like, fuck
- 13:08Speaker 2: that and ended up upgrading her tickets. But they still
- 13:11Speaker 2: were sitting separate. Let's have a listen to see what
- 13:13Speaker 2: Sam said about it.
- 13:15Speaker 5: My spoiled little boyfriend had first class tickets, so I
- 13:18Speaker 5: was raw dug in it and I'm so glad I upgraded.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Is this not a massive red flag?
- 13:24Speaker 2: I mean, this guy has had to apparently convince her
- 13:27Speaker 2: to come with him on this trip to Europe. Then
- 13:30Speaker 2: he decides to not even sit with her. Like, why
- 13:33Speaker 2: couldn't he just get economy tickets and sit together? That's
- 13:35Speaker 2: part of the trip.
- 13:36Speaker 1: It's the bondings. You know, you sit on the flight
- 13:38Speaker 1: and chat.
- 13:39Speaker 2: This is reminding me of the episode of Seinfeld where
- 13:41Speaker 2: Jerry gets upgraded to first class and he's sat next
- 13:43Speaker 2: to a model and he's getting served chocolate sundaes and
- 13:46Speaker 2: poor Elaine's like stuck between all these men. I mean,
- 13:49Speaker 2: it's not like you're slumming it in business class, but
- 13:51Speaker 2: it was clear that Sam didn't really have the money
- 13:54Speaker 2: to fly business class yet felt like she had to
- 13:56Speaker 2: upgrade because you'd feel like a bit of a loser
- 13:58Speaker 2: if your boyfriend's traveling first class and you're an economy.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I've never traveled business class or first class, but I've
- 14:03Speaker 2: seen a lot of people on YouTube doing it. And
- 14:05Speaker 2: the thing is, you are in your own little pod.
- 14:08Speaker 2: It doesn't really matter if your partner is next to
- 14:10Speaker 2: you anyway. It's not like you can reach across and
- 14:12Speaker 2: hold their hand.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but do you know who it does matter for?
- 14:14Speaker 2: It's the person who's stuck in cattle class while they're
- 14:17Speaker 2: probably getting messages from the boyfriend living it up.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I mean, does this not show that chivalry is dead?
- 14:22Speaker 2: I mean, if he's got the money to afford first class,
- 14:25Speaker 2: why doesn't he do the decent thing and say, hey, here,
- 14:28Speaker 2: here's a surprise for you.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I'm going to take your crap ticket and you can
- 14:30Speaker 1: sit up here. Yeah, true.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I mean, let's be clear. He doesn't have the money.
- 14:34Speaker 2: His parents have the money. Some of Sam's followers were
- 14:38Speaker 2: pretty confused by it all. Someone wrote, your boyfriend didn't
- 14:40Speaker 2: get you the same ticket. And then another person wrote,
- 14:42Speaker 2: why wouldn't your boyfriend pay for your upgrade? Weird as fuck.
- 14:46Speaker 2: And Sam responded, because I want to pay my own
- 14:48Speaker 2: way for things. I totally get that. But I really
- 14:51Speaker 2: liked your idea, Sophie, of being like, hang on, this
- 14:54Speaker 2: guy clearly travels first class all the time.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Give the experience to your girlfriend.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Isn't this what caused the infamous friendship breakup between Sharni
- 15:02Speaker 2: Grimm and Michael Finch and.
- 15:03Speaker 1: The rest of the gang?
- 15:04Speaker 2: Because wasn't it that she and Michael, no, she had
- 15:08Speaker 2: first class tickets and the rest of them were back
- 15:10Speaker 2: in cattle class and they literally used the whole flight
- 15:12Speaker 2: to bitch about her. And then everyone was against her
- 15:15Speaker 2: the whole trip. Like, This isn't a good move. Yeah,
- 15:17Speaker 2: I think it's a big no-no, particularly if you're traveling
- 15:19Speaker 2: with a group. Like that's just going to ostracize you
- 15:21Speaker 2: from day dot. It was quite funny though, despite being
- 15:24Speaker 2: in business class, Sam complained a lot. So she didn't
- 15:26Speaker 2: like the taste of the coffee. She said it tasted
- 15:28Speaker 2: like petrol and she also didn't sleep. She then later
- 15:32Speaker 2: showed vision of her lying next to her boyfriend under
- 15:34Speaker 2: white sheets. So it looked like she may have snuck
- 15:38Speaker 2: into first class or potentially he upgraded her on the
- 15:41Speaker 2: second leg.
- 15:42Speaker 5: Of the trip.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It wasn't really clear. You know what Brian Smith's. I just,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I'm just Mrs. Enrique Iglesias.
- 15:47Speaker 2: It's a colonial woman on the side of the plane.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Why does this remind me of you though, Kate?
- 15:53Speaker 2: I feel like if you were to fly business class,
- 15:55Speaker 2: you would probably, oh, sorry. But recent, like in recent times,
- 16:02Speaker 2: if you were to fly business class, I feel like
- 16:03Speaker 2: you would be the sort of person that would be
- 16:05Speaker 2: judging everything. Because you're kind of turning into our dad
- 16:08Speaker 2: who would do the same. Like our dad writes full
- 16:10Speaker 2: reviews on the flights he takes and the accommodation he
- 16:13Speaker 2: stays in when he goes on holiday. Well, I suppose
- 16:15Speaker 2: if you're paying top dollar, you expect a certain standard
- 16:18Speaker 2: of service. But I mean, doesn't this just say everything
- 16:21Speaker 2: that you need to know about this guy?
- 16:23Speaker 1: I mean.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Could he not have slummed it for one flight just
- 16:27Speaker 2: to be with his girlfriend? Like isn't the whole.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Part of the trip that you're spending time together?
- 16:31Speaker 2: But don't they say once you go first class you
- 16:34Speaker 2: can't go back?
- 16:35Speaker 1: Let's be fair to him. He's only ever experienced first class.
- 16:39Speaker 2: I can't wait to see the accommodation that they're staying at.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I mean I'm guessing that he allows Sam to stay
- 16:44Speaker 2: in the same room as him at the five-star accommodation.
- 16:48Speaker 1: She's down at the hostel. He's at the Mayfair. Brand
- 16:52Speaker 1: new soul fleece colours launching on pre-sale in our end
- 16:56Speaker 1: of financial year sales.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Australian activewear brand Stax has been placed into receivership.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Despite being touted as a $ 52.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Million business just four years ago, receivers were appointed on
- 17:07Speaker 2: Wednesday to investigate the company's finances over outstanding debt. While
- 17:12Speaker 2: the news took customers by surprise, the writing has been
- 17:15Speaker 2: on the wall for some time. Yeah, there were some
- 17:18Speaker 2: clues that they were struggling in late 2024 when they
- 17:20Speaker 2: started closing their brick and mortar stores.
- 17:23Speaker 1: And the offloading of their.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Stores rapidly escalated last year when the owners suddenly closed
- 17:28Speaker 2: six stores and sold three of their luxury cars, all
- 17:32Speaker 2: seemingly in a bid to save the business. At its peak,
- 17:35Speaker 2: Stacks had 12 stores, but by the time the.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Business was put into receivership on Wednesday... only two of
- 17:41Speaker 1: those stores remained.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and the owners, Don Robertson and Matilda Murray, have
- 17:45Speaker 2: been pretty open about the issues with the stores. In
- 17:48Speaker 2: a recent interview on the Two Broke Chicks podcast, Matilda
- 17:51Speaker 2: admitted it wasn't a good decision to open the stores.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And back in September, Don told the Daily Telegraph that
- 17:57Speaker 2: things hadn't been going well for the business for over
- 17:59Speaker 2: 12 months. He said, we decided last week we needed
- 18:02Speaker 2: to rapidly close the stores and pull the band-aid off
- 18:05Speaker 2: to ultimately save the business.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Clearly that hasn't really worked. I mean, this has been
- 18:10Speaker 1: a massive fall from grace for them.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Just four years ago, they were named on the AFR
- 18:14Speaker 2: rich list with an estimated worth of $ 70 million. And
- 18:19Speaker 2: at the time the company was booming, they had 160
- 18:21Speaker 2: staff and an estimated turnover of $ 30 million a year.
- 18:26Speaker 2: And it's really sad to watch because their story was
- 18:29Speaker 2: really celebrated as this rags to riches one. And for
- 18:32Speaker 2: those who don't know the backstory, Don and Matilda are married.
- 18:35Speaker 2: And it was actually Don who launched the brand in
- 18:39Speaker 2: 2015 from the spare room at his mum's house in Perth. Now,
- 18:42Speaker 2: by early 2020, they were ready to call it quits,
- 18:44Speaker 2: but they gave it one more crack, spending their life
- 18:46Speaker 2: savings to shoot a campaign for a new collection called
- 18:50Speaker 2: Premium Seamless V2. Now, they were meant to fly in
- 18:53Speaker 2: a bunch of influencers from all over the country to
- 18:56Speaker 2: appear in a commercial. However, lockdown hit and Matilda ended
- 19:00Speaker 2: up modelling the activewear herself. Now, despite this hiccup, the
- 19:04Speaker 2: collection sold out in a matter of minutes and it's
- 19:06Speaker 2: really been a staple for a lot of influencers. I
- 19:10Speaker 2: think it's safe to say that Stacks' influencer marketing strategy
- 19:13Speaker 2: in the early 2020s was a big part of its success. Yeah,
- 19:17Speaker 2: I remember back then it seemed like every single influencer
- 19:19Speaker 2: and their dog was wearing Stacks.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I mean, those who didn't own their own activewear brands.
- 19:25Speaker 2: It's crazy though, because when I reflect, I haven't really
- 19:28Speaker 2: seen anyone speaking about them recently.
- 19:31Speaker 1: The last I.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Heard of Stacks was actually when Steph Clare Smith and
- 19:34Speaker 2: Laura Henshaw released an activewear line with them. So that
- 19:37Speaker 2: was in 2024. It actually sold out within 30 minutes.
- 19:42Speaker 2: It's funny to reflect because the first big influencer Stacks
- 19:45Speaker 2: actually worked with was Steph Packer. Now, for those not
- 19:49Speaker 2: familiar with her, she is a Gold Coast influencer.
- 19:51Speaker 1: She's in the fitness space.
- 19:53Speaker 2: She's friends with Talia Skanes and her range of bike
- 19:55Speaker 2: shorts sold out in just 30 minutes. Then, of course,
- 19:59Speaker 2: at the peak of the brand's popularity, they partnered with
- 20:02Speaker 2: TikToker Anna Paul. And at the time, she was also
- 20:05Speaker 2: in her peak of popularity and they created this limited
- 20:09Speaker 2: edition capsule collection. And they ended up shutting down the
- 20:13Speaker 2: city of Perth when they did a meet and greet
- 20:15Speaker 2: with Anna Paul at the Stax's store in Perth. So
- 20:17Speaker 2: it's crazy to think how this brand has gone downhill
- 20:21Speaker 2: in such a short amount of time. Remember they did
- 20:23Speaker 2: those massive runway shows as well. And literally every single
- 20:26Speaker 2: influencer in Australia was invited to it. And I think
- 20:30Speaker 2: Was that where some shit went down with Addis Paul
- 20:33Speaker 2: and Sophia Begg? Didn't he bring her to the Stack
- 20:37Speaker 2: show just quickly after breaking up with Michaela Tester? Yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 2: I remember there was some beef between Michaela Tester and
- 20:42Speaker 2: Addis Paul at the event. And a lot of influencers
- 20:45Speaker 2: actually modelled in the runway show because one of the
- 20:47Speaker 2: things that made Stack so popular was the fact that
- 20:50Speaker 2: they had a lot of diversity on the runway and
- 20:53Speaker 2: also in their campaigns. They were touted as the most
- 20:56Speaker 2: inclusive activewear brand in the world, offering sizes from extra,
- 21:00Speaker 2: extra small to 4XL. So on the runway, there were
- 21:03Speaker 2: influencers as well as real customers. And that's why I
- 21:06Speaker 2: think it's quite sad because they were doing all the
- 21:08Speaker 2: right things in terms of inclusivity. It's been really fascinating
- 21:11Speaker 2: to see how some activewear brands have had to evolve
- 21:14Speaker 2: in order to stay in the market.
- 21:17Speaker 1: One that springs to mind is Beck Judd's brand, Jagged.
- 21:20Speaker 2: In 2018, it was one of the hottest activewear brands
- 21:23Speaker 2: that you could be wearing. I remember it was so
- 21:24Speaker 2: expensive and they were really clever because they got a
- 21:27Speaker 2: lot of big influencers like Laura Henshaw and Brooke Hogan
- 21:31Speaker 2: on board to design their own capsules and they would
- 21:34Speaker 2: speak a lot about them on their own Instagrams. And
- 21:37Speaker 2: now I feel like Jagged has tried to evolve with
- 21:39Speaker 2: its audience. It's now promoting it to millennials who wore
- 21:42Speaker 2: them originally, but there is a bit of an older
- 21:45Speaker 2: vibe to the brand and they're sort of having to
- 21:47Speaker 2: rely on sales.
- 21:49Speaker 1: So it's always, oh, three for a hundred dollars.
- 21:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 2: But that makes me think that they're not doing that
- 21:54Speaker 2: well and that they've got a lot of stock to clear. Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 1: But that's how they're staying.
- 21:57Speaker 5: In the market.
- 21:57Speaker 1: They've had to pivot their marketing strategy.
- 21:59Speaker 2: They're going, okay, it's millennials who often are mums that
- 22:02Speaker 2: don't have heaps of money to spend on themselves and
- 22:04Speaker 2: who like a bargain.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I actually think that's pretty clever.
- 22:07Speaker 2: In terms of why Stacks has gone into receivership, I
- 22:10Speaker 2: don't think it's so much that their influencer strategy wasn't working.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I think that they grew too quickly and they also
- 22:16Speaker 2: seemed quite insular in the fact that Matilda and Don
- 22:19Speaker 2: were very involved in the business from a granular level.
- 22:22Speaker 2: They were running the Stax's VIP Facebook group. They prided
- 22:26Speaker 2: themselves on replying to DMs all the time. They were
- 22:29Speaker 2: very much in the thick of the business. They didn't
- 22:31Speaker 2: have any external investors. And I think that's probably where
- 22:34Speaker 2: the issue has come. They didn't have anyone saying, hang on,
- 22:37Speaker 2: maybe you shouldn't go and open 12 stores, maybe open
- 22:40Speaker 2: one or.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Two, see how they go.
- 22:41Speaker 2: While there has been a huge outpouring of support for
- 22:44Speaker 2: Don and Matilda, I have also seen a lot of
- 22:47Speaker 2: criticism for some of the business practices that they did,
- 22:50Speaker 2: particularly in April this year. So They did a pre-sale
- 22:54Speaker 2: and a lot of customers have said that they are
- 22:57Speaker 2: still waiting for items that they bought in that pre-sale.
- 23:00Speaker 2: And just recently on their website, Stacks have closed down
- 23:04Speaker 2: the sale that they were running and they've got a
- 23:06Speaker 2: big Q & A up about what it means now
- 23:09Speaker 2: that they're in receivership. And the take-home message here is
- 23:12Speaker 2: that a lot of customers who shopped prior to them
- 23:15Speaker 2: going into receivership may actually not receive the items that
- 23:19Speaker 2: they bought and there are no mentions of a refund.
- 23:22Speaker 2: The only time a refund has been brought up is
- 23:25Speaker 2: if you shopped after they went into receivership. So there
- 23:28Speaker 2: are people who have been shopping since April trying to
- 23:31Speaker 2: support the brand who are now saying, well, I'm hundreds
- 23:34Speaker 2: of dollars out of.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Pocket and they're not happy.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I mean, I wouldn't be too happy either if I
- 23:39Speaker 2: was one of these people, particularly because there's been a
- 23:43Speaker 2: lot of criticism that Don and Matilda have been splashing
- 23:46Speaker 2: their cash. So if you're someone that follows them, because
- 23:48Speaker 2: they've somewhat become influencers in their own rights. And if
- 23:51Speaker 2: you're someone that follows them, you'd be like, oh, I'm
- 23:53Speaker 2: comfortable spending at this sale because it doesn't look like
- 23:57Speaker 2: money is any issue to them whatsoever. Well, they're now
- 24:00Speaker 2: both on private on Instagram, which is really interesting. Tammy
- 24:05Speaker 2: Hembrough has revealed she tried to rekindle her romance with
- 24:08Speaker 2: baby daddy, Rhys Hawkins. The mega influencer admitted she went
- 24:12Speaker 2: on a date with her former fiance this year. So
- 24:16Speaker 2: Tammy made the submission on her sister Emily Hembrough's podcast.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I think we broke this news ages ago.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, she dropped a lot of bombs during this episode.
- 24:25Speaker 2: It's the most I've ever heard her reveal in a
- 24:27Speaker 2: long time. And as you said, Kate, this news shouldn't
- 24:31Speaker 2: come as such a surprise because back in January, the
- 24:34Speaker 2: rumor mill went into overdrive with reports that Tammy and
- 24:37Speaker 2: Reese were patching things up. That's after eight years they've
- 24:42Speaker 2: been apart. So this was massive news because Tammy and
- 24:45Speaker 2: Reese were the ultimate power couple in the 2010s. And
- 24:49Speaker 2: to this day, a lot of people stand their relationship. Now,
- 24:52Speaker 2: back in January, the Gold Coast Bulletin and the Daily
- 24:55Speaker 2: Telegraph ran with headlines of a Tammy and Reese reconciliation.
- 25:00Speaker 2: And the publication referenced whispers from sources close to Tammy
- 25:04Speaker 2: saying she had rekindled things with Reese and had been
- 25:07Speaker 2: spending a considerable amount of time with him, and that
- 25:10Speaker 2: he'd been staying the night at her house. Now, Tammy
- 25:13Speaker 2: didn't shy away from any of this speculation. She, in fact,
- 25:16Speaker 2: fueled it by posting with Reese on her Snapchat story. Now,
- 25:19Speaker 2: this was fresh off the back of his breakup with
- 25:22Speaker 2: fitness influencer Liv Kelly, and he was seen sipping a
- 25:27Speaker 2: wine on Tammy's patio at night. He looked quite sheepish
- 25:30Speaker 2: when he noticed that Tammy was filming, and he covered
- 25:32Speaker 2: his face. The real kick in the dick to Matt
- 25:34Speaker 2: Zukowski was, Rhys was drinking from a wine glass with
- 25:38Speaker 2: Matt's initials on it. Well, Tammy also captioned this Snapchat,
- 25:42Speaker 2: mum and dad, which was a bit, you know. I mean,
- 25:45Speaker 2: I wonder what the kids thought of all of this. Well,
- 25:47Speaker 2: I remember we shared it to our Instagram account and
- 25:49Speaker 2: Tammy commented under it, it's really not that deep, guys,
- 25:53Speaker 2: with a laughing face. And sure, we have two kids
- 25:55Speaker 2: together and we are friends. But it seems like it
- 25:58Speaker 2: was deep, actually. And following these reports, we had an
- 26:01Speaker 2: outspoken listener slide into our DMs And deliver us some
- 26:05Speaker 2: absolute tea. So the listener who preferred to remain anonymous
- 26:09Speaker 2: just so happened to be swimming next to Tammy and
- 26:12Speaker 2: Reese and their kids at the beach on New Year's Eve.
- 26:15Speaker 2: And according to this anonymous listener, the former fiancés were
- 26:18Speaker 2: hugging in the water while Tammy's arms were around Reese's neck.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I mean, you say according to the reports, but the
- 26:25Speaker 2: person sent the video, we've all watched it.
- 26:27Speaker 1: It was very lovey-dovey.
- 26:29Speaker 2: And I was adamant that they were going to come
- 26:32Speaker 2: out and announce that they were together. So when all
- 26:34Speaker 2: of this Grace and Timoana stuff came out, I.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Was like, no.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Well, at the time we decided not to share the
- 26:40Speaker 2: video because we thought it was an invasion of their
- 26:44Speaker 2: privacy and maybe wasn't on because their kids were in
- 26:47Speaker 2: the vision. But now that she's admitted that they weren't
- 26:49Speaker 2: on a date, is this game on? Do we release
- 26:51Speaker 2: the vision now? maybe just blur the kids' faces. Maybe
- 26:54Speaker 2: we should actually put it out there when we put.
- 26:57Speaker 1: This episode up.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Now speaking on Emily's podcast, Tammy revealed that of course,
- 27:01Speaker 2: as we've said, the former couple.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Went on a date. Let's take a listen.
- 27:06Speaker 4: I was like rooting for you and Reese to get
- 27:08Speaker 4: back together. I feel like a lot of people were.
- 27:10Speaker 4: That was like my dream. We're just good friends now.
- 27:13Speaker 5: I know.
- 27:13Speaker 4: And I guess seeing you guys friendly and co-parenting was
- 27:16Speaker 4: just so nice.
- 27:17Speaker 1: And I'm like, We went on a date. We went
- 27:19Speaker 1: on a date together, guys.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I know.
- 27:21Speaker 4: And I was like hanging for the update because.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I really thought. Emily, you literally like trying to make
- 27:26Speaker 1: us get back together so bad.
- 27:27Speaker 5: I really was.
- 27:27Speaker 4: Because I also feel like he's just grown up and
- 27:30Speaker 4: he's just like, I really like the man he's become.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You literally like don't even know him. From the couple
- 27:35Speaker 1: of times I saw him at your house.
- 27:36Speaker 4: What the heck?
- 27:37Speaker 1: But I don't know.
- 27:38Speaker 4: I just really was rooting for you guys. I was like,
- 27:40Speaker 4: how was that date? He's just a friend to me.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Love you, Bruce.
- 27:47Speaker 5: Yeah, same.
- 27:48Speaker 2: This is an interesting story to tell considering Tammy is
- 27:51Speaker 2: actually dating someone else. What annoyed me is like she
- 27:54Speaker 2: didn't say how the date went.
- 27:56Speaker 1: It's like, well, what happened?
- 27:58Speaker 2: I mean, it's a bit weird to just go on
- 27:59Speaker 2: this random date with the father of your two children
- 28:02Speaker 2: who you were engaged to and what, it just fizzled out?
- 28:05Speaker 2: I mean, I know he lives in Bali, but surely
- 28:06Speaker 2: there's more children. That's the thing though, it's really difficult
- 28:09Speaker 2: because Tammy only reveals these things on her family members' podcasts,
- 28:13Speaker 2: but then the sisters constantly interrupt one another so you never.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Actually hear the full story.
- 28:18Speaker 2: The thing that is quite telling is that Emily was
- 28:21Speaker 2: the one pushing them to get back together. And she
- 28:24Speaker 2: even seems sort of like giddy about it now. It's
- 28:26Speaker 2: quite clear that she thinks that Tammy should be with
- 28:28Speaker 2: a man as opposed to the current 23-year-old boy that
- 28:32Speaker 2: she is with. What surprised me the most was Tammy
- 28:35Speaker 2: revealing where she met Rhys. So I don't know if
- 28:38Speaker 2: she'd just been keeping this in her back pocket or
- 28:40Speaker 2: maybe she revealed it back in the day, but they
- 28:42Speaker 2: actually used to go to school together. He was a
- 28:44Speaker 2: year below her. And it seems like her sisters didn't
- 28:47Speaker 2: even know that fact. Like, how does that not come
- 28:48Speaker 2: up in conversation? And also when Emily was going on
- 28:52Speaker 2: that she was really rooting for Reese and Tammy to
- 28:54Speaker 2: get back together, Tammy was like, but you don't even
- 28:57Speaker 2: know him.
- 28:58Speaker 1: But surely... Surely.
- 29:00Speaker 2: When they were together and had two children together, the
- 29:03Speaker 2: sisters would have got to know him a little bit. Well,
- 29:05Speaker 2: was that more based on the comment that they made
- 29:08Speaker 2: that Rhys has really grown up and that he's really changed?
- 29:11Speaker 2: Like maybe they haven't spent a lot of time with
- 29:12Speaker 2: him recently. I mean, I was surprised that they were
- 29:15Speaker 2: so pro-Rhys when you consider the fact that he lives
- 29:18Speaker 2: in Bali and he doesn't really do much to help
- 29:20Speaker 2: bring those kids up. Well, his ex-wife, London Gowan, seemed
- 29:24Speaker 2: to have a recent potshot at him on Father's Day
- 29:27Speaker 2: in America when she shared a photo with her new
- 29:30Speaker 2: boyfriend and basically said how, what an amazing role model
- 29:33Speaker 2: he's been in Stone's life.
- 29:34Speaker 1: It seemed to be a bit, you know.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Directed at Reese being not there. Now getting back to
- 29:40Speaker 2: Grayson for a second, Tammy revealed in this podcast that
- 29:44Speaker 2: she met Grayson in real life. So it seems like
- 29:47Speaker 2: they did meet at one of those influencer events. And
- 29:50Speaker 2: Emily started asking a lot of questions about what it's
- 29:53Speaker 2: like dating when your partner is on social media and.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Also has a profile.
- 29:58Speaker 2: You could tell they don't approve of it, but they're
- 30:00Speaker 2: trying to stay out of it. Like the way they
- 30:03Speaker 2: were like, oh, do you take his photos and does
- 30:05Speaker 2: he take yours? And I just loved it because sisters
- 30:08Speaker 2: can get away with that type of rising, particularly when
- 30:10Speaker 2: they had the microphones in front of them. Like you
- 30:13Speaker 2: could tell that Tammy would probably be like, fuck off usually. Yeah,
- 30:17Speaker 2: because Emily really started grilling her and was like, oh,
- 30:19Speaker 2: so do you encourage Grayson to post about your relationship?
- 30:24Speaker 1: And Tammy was like, oh, it's not really a thing.
- 30:26Speaker 1: We don't talk about it.
- 30:27Speaker 2: I mean, clearly the sisters were referencing those weird over
- 30:30Speaker 2: the top TikToks that they're sharing about.
- 30:32Speaker 1: You know, being the one and in love and all
- 30:35Speaker 1: of that.
- 30:36Speaker 2: The whole premise of this episode was like, what's a
- 30:38Speaker 2: red flag and a green flag in relationships. But it
- 30:41Speaker 2: was quite funny because Emily and Amy are both happily married.
- 30:44Speaker 2: So all of the questions were like directed straight at Tammy.
- 30:48Speaker 2: And I loved how Emily and Amy were both like, oh,
- 30:51Speaker 2: we only really decipher red flags based off Tammy's past relationships. Well,
- 30:56Speaker 2: I said at the start of this segment that she
- 30:58Speaker 2: dropped a lot of bombs and she really did. I mean,
- 31:01Speaker 2: if I was Matt Zukowski, I would have not been
- 31:02Speaker 2: happy listening to this episode because she opened up for
- 31:06Speaker 2: the first time about that infamous Grand Prix messaging scandal.
- 31:10Speaker 2: So to refresh everyone's memories quickly, following the Glamour on
- 31:13Speaker 2: the Grids event, which Tammy and Matt attended together, screenshots
- 31:17Speaker 2: of a private conversation between Matt and another woman were
- 31:21Speaker 2: shared on a gossip account and it appeared that Matt
- 31:24Speaker 2: DM'd this woman at 3am on the night of the
- 31:27Speaker 2: event asking if she had a boyfriend and since then
- 31:31Speaker 2: Matt has come out and said he was acting as
- 31:33Speaker 2: a wingman for his friend and was asking on his behalf.
- 31:37Speaker 2: He also blamed alcohol saying he was very intoxicated. Now
- 31:41Speaker 2: a year on from their separation Tammy has chosen to
- 31:44Speaker 2: open up about this incident.
- 31:45Speaker 1: For the first time.
- 31:47Speaker 2: And while she didn't name Matt, she made it crystal
- 31:49Speaker 2: clear that she was, of course, speaking about him. She
- 31:52Speaker 2: said that she was engaged when this incident took place
- 31:55Speaker 2: and went on to marry the person.
- 31:57Speaker 1: And of course, she.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Referenced this much publicized incident. So let's take a listen
- 32:02Speaker 2: to some of what she said.
- 32:04Speaker 4: In my past relationship, there was a lot of, um,
- 32:09Speaker 4: I mean, like there's stuff that came out publicly about
- 32:13Speaker 4: people sliding into people's DMs.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Yeah, we held a family. In that relationship, that was
- 32:19Speaker 1: a huge thing.
- 32:21Speaker 4: And to the end, part of the reason why it ended,
- 32:25Speaker 4: like it was a massive, massive thing. And honestly, my bad.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I forgave at times I shouldn't have forgiven. And things happened.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Again and again.
- 32:38Speaker 2: I think the thing is like you forgive, but you don't,
- 32:41Speaker 2: it's hard to get by. So like, it's not really
- 32:43Speaker 2: a full forgiveness because the trust isn't there.
- 32:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:46Speaker 1: I feel like I could never, ever do that ever again.
- 32:50Speaker 4: Like once that trust is broken, it's goodbye.
- 32:54Speaker 2: I'm surprised that she's even talking about this, to be honest.
- 32:56Speaker 2: It happened so long ago now and it just To me,
- 33:00Speaker 2: I feel like they need to just stop talking about
- 33:01Speaker 2: each other, Tammy and Matt.
- 33:03Speaker 1: It's like it's over. You're with someone new. It was
- 33:05Speaker 1: unfortunate what happened.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I mean, we've discussed in recent times how we're now
- 33:10Speaker 2: team Matt.
- 33:11Speaker 1: So I don't know how to feel about this.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I just think it's pretty wild that she's blaming this
- 33:14Speaker 2: incident for the breakdown of their marriage. I mean, she's
- 33:16Speaker 2: saying that it caused a lot of trust issues and
- 33:19Speaker 2: was the root cause of their divorce. I think Matt
- 33:22Speaker 2: Zukowski would provide some other reasons perhaps for their separation
- 33:26Speaker 2: than just this one-off incident. I also think it's interesting
- 33:30Speaker 2: that Tammy said that things like that happened again and again.
- 33:34Speaker 2: So she is trying to paint Matt Zukowski as a cheater.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I really do hope that he comes out on his
- 33:40Speaker 2: own platform and clears this up because I think it
- 33:42Speaker 2: was a little bit unfair.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 33:44Speaker 2: But I don't think Matt's going to touch on it
- 33:46Speaker 2: because from what I've heard, I think he's over it.
- 33:48Speaker 2: He doesn't want this to define him anymore.
- 33:51Speaker 1: But Tammy keeps going back to it.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Obviously, she knows talking about her relationship's continues to get
- 33:56Speaker 2: her views. It gets people engaged in her life. Well,
- 33:58Speaker 2: I just think it's a bit unfair to say that
- 34:00Speaker 2: this was the cause of the divorce, basically, because it
- 34:03Speaker 2: happened before the wedding.
- 34:05Speaker 1: So, I mean, she could have called things off.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Now, Tammy's sisters, Emily and Amy, went on to reveal
- 34:10Speaker 2: that they actually had a family intervention following the incident.
- 34:13Speaker 2: And it sounded like Matt was at the intervention because
- 34:16Speaker 2: At the end, he apparently was very upset and said,
- 34:19Speaker 2: can we all.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Just hug it out?
- 34:20Speaker 2: They also made this comment and it wasn't directed at
- 34:23Speaker 2: Matt Sikowsky, but it was clear they were talking about
- 34:25Speaker 2: him saying, oh, another thing that they think is a
- 34:27Speaker 2: red flag, this was Amy and Emily, is when a
- 34:30Speaker 2: guy comes around and you've only met him once or
- 34:33Speaker 2: twice and he starts acting like your brothers and sisters
- 34:36Speaker 2: and is really cocky and confident around the family. I
- 34:38Speaker 2: thought that was interesting because I remember, I think Tammy
- 34:42Speaker 2: and Matt had only been dating for a month or
- 34:44Speaker 2: so when they had that New Year's Eve party at
- 34:47Speaker 2: Tammy's house. And he kept talking about Tammy's house, apparently as.
- 34:50Speaker 1: If it was his own.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Well, I just feel like there were just potshots going
- 34:53Speaker 2: back and forth about him because Amy said that she
- 34:55Speaker 2: has no sympathy for when someone does the wrong thing
- 34:58Speaker 2: and plays the victim. I mean, I feel like they
- 35:00Speaker 2: were sort of referring that he played the victim.
- 35:02Speaker 1: On I'm a Celeb.
- 35:03Speaker 2: And then Tammy went on to say that she's since
- 35:06Speaker 2: learned that that type of behavior is someone's characteristic and
- 35:09Speaker 2: it's not something that you can fix in someone. In
- 35:12Speaker 2: saying that, I think I would take her learnings on
- 35:16Speaker 2: board a little bit more or take it a bit
- 35:17Speaker 2: more seriously if she wasn't dating who she's currently.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Dating, because she was giddy over this guy. She was saying.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, like she's like, oh, you know, but he
- 35:28Speaker 2: hangs out with guys that are a lot older and
- 35:31Speaker 2: it's not as weird as it sounds, but And she
- 35:33Speaker 2: was saying that, you know, she's got so many cute
- 35:36Speaker 2: videos of him on her phone and she just is
- 35:39Speaker 2: dying to share more about it.
- 35:40Speaker 1: It's like, babe, you've shared too much already.
- 35:42Speaker 2: But also from what we've heard about him, it sounds
- 35:45Speaker 2: as if he may have cheated on his last girlfriend
- 35:48Speaker 2: to be with Tammy. So if that's not saying, hey,
- 35:52Speaker 2: that is a characteristic of mine, I don't know what
- 35:54Speaker 2: else is.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Listening to the interview, it's very clear that she loves love.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Like, She was just saying she loves seeing other people's
- 36:01Speaker 2: relationship videos and she's just dying to share more.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Like she clearly gets caught up in it.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Well, they also spoke about love bombing and it's like
- 36:08Speaker 2: clearly that's what's happening in this instance. It's like you've
- 36:11Speaker 2: been together for barely any time and it's all like
- 36:13Speaker 2: this lovey-dovey stuff. Like anyway, I don't think she has
- 36:16Speaker 2: learned from her past mistakes. And to her credit, she
- 36:19Speaker 2: said that she feels like people can talk about her
- 36:22Speaker 2: relationship because she openly shares it online.
- 36:24Speaker 1: You know, she's inviting people to speak about it.
- 36:26Speaker 2: So at least she's got a little bit of, self-awareness there.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Well, on that note, I think that is all we
