So, I think we're, I think we have it all. I think all we're missing now is like Snapchat, almost all the bases are covered. Yeah. Great. Great baseball reference, Matt. ⁓ bases are being covered. Speaking of Speaking of bases, we are watching the Rangers and the Mariners game on the side right now, uh, along with the March Madness national championship game between Yukon and Michigan. So we're reacting a little late, you know, things happen. Matt, how are doing though? Doing well, Week was good. Any more golf? Uh, last week, I should it's been two weeks since we've done an episode. Uh, sorry everyone. just, Easter was a little chaotic. with the week that was going on and me and couldn't really find time to record, but we found it to record this week. So we're back at it. and Matt, said you were golfing last week? Last Monday. Yeah. And how'd it go? You know, I went. Yeah. A few pars. A few pars. No birdies this time. And let me take a guess. It fell apart on the back nine. It did as it usually does. Well, think it'd be fun to do a little, uh, we've talked about doing this before. Like a little golfing side channel. Yes. Little Matt breaks 90 series. Matt breaks a hundred series. Matt breaks a hundred and then we Matt breaks 90. The 90 series, that would be a few hundred episodes. Then we do Matt breaks 80 and then we do Matt makes the tour. And this time next year you should be on the masters. This time in 57 years I'll be on, I'll be at Augusta. Yeah. Maybe what's going to happen to first you go to Augusta for playing or the podcast goes to Augusta. Hopefully the podcast podcast probably goes to Augusta. Speaking of which happy masters week to everyone. Uh, starting Thursday. Actually this episode's dropping Wednesday. So we will do a little master's preview later in the show, but Matt let's get into our brodies of the week and Matt, do you want to go ahead and just start us off here? Uh, yeah, I guess neither of us lead into the. Our next segment, right? I don't know. We don't really have a set in stone what the next segment is. So it's all, it's a surprise to us. We're usually all over the place. The viewers and the listeners will know because there are chapters below this. Correct. But for anyone, guess for everyone that's new here and maybe doesn't know what Brody's of the Week is, it's just where me and Matt highlight something, someone or something cool to happen in sports that we just want to talk about first thing on the show. So Matt, get us going. usually a player. Usually player sometimes the team sometimes it's just like a scenario situation. Sometimes we get a little creative with our Brody's and mine aren't very creative, but this Joe Adele outfielder for the angels angels in the outfield. He looked like one out there. He robbed not one, not two, but three home runs. I did see the highlights of this. This was actually an insane feat. It's like I don't know. I'm not the biggest baseball fanatic. I don't know too much about the MLB, but, ⁓ from what I, I saw a Twitter and stuff, people were calling this one of the greatest defensive performances, ⁓ of all time, like by a single player. Yeah. Rob super high praise. Yeah. Like robbing one is like insane, but I mean, yeah, they beat the Maynards. One to zero, which means he saved the angels from giving up three runs. know how pitchers get like saves credited to them? Like he should get a save next to his name. Yeah. There's, there's a stat war, which is wins above, ⁓ replacement. Yep. If he took them out, they would have lost pretty much. So what's his war right now? They don't get. It's like a ⁓ that's a pitching stat. I think so. One second. I pull up the stats right now. Let's see. Did they get a war? That might. No, I think every player does actually. Let see full full stats. Well, this should count for like one. Like a full, full war for him because he literally won them the game. Is he, if he wasn't there, you know, it's Who knows if his, if somebody else in his place would have made those three plays. Probably not. Right. Okay. He does have a, they do have war. However, since we're so early in the season, he does not have an official war yet. Yeah. Well this. He's probably should count. Probably going to look really good. He keeps this up. He actually has 10, uh, 10 robs, 10 home run robs since 2020. Obviously those three, it's seven before the last game they played against the Mariners. ⁓ and he, he's tied with Cal Tucker for the most and then it'll be since 2020. And he's their right fielder, right? I believe so. I think that's yeah. Yeah. Well, yes. Yeah. On the right side of the field. Well, if you look, okay. If you're looking at it, he's on the right side of field. Yes. Well, if you're looking at it from other ways on the left side. I'm just saying it's normally like the right fielder in baseball. That's where you put like your. Not going to say worst player, but like, so remember where you put the guy that doesn't have the best gloves. There's not a lot of balls hit that way. And, um, right turns out he's pretty locked down. Like Aaron judge is in the field for the Yankees. Yeah. That should tell you all you need to know. Yeah. Like Aaron judge is not, well, maybe, I mean, he's a tall guy. He could rob it, but I did see the Joe Adele. He was like climbing up the wall. And judge is slow. Like you want, you want fast guys back there, but I feel like we are seeing like more robs of home runs. I've seen some clips of like Julio Rodriguez, the Mariners, who they played. Like I've seen crazy clips of him robbing. Yeah, he's got, yeah, he actually, did one in the world baseball classic, I believe. Did he? Yeah, I think so. I wouldn't be surprised. Yeah. But he always does it like where he like fakes him out, where he's like, he acts like he doesn't have it and then he shows the ball. Yeah. I love that. Play into the dramatics if you're an outfitter a little bit. Yeah, but. So one of his Robs, was the other team challenged it because he, caught it and then he fell into the stands. ⁓ yeah. So, so if he, so for it to be a Robby would have had to catch it, which he did. He caught it before he tipped over into the stands. But if he was like in the motion of falling over and then caught it would have been a home run. I thought your feet, I thought it was kind of like treated like the NFL, like your feet had to be in bounds, like on the ground when you, when you went to catch it or as you caught the ball. Well, if you're in the air, I thought it was, you caught it, I guess from the video I, I saw what I heard. No, he was like diving into the stands. So that's why I thought maybe it didn't count. it before he like tipped. Oh, officially went over. So he was like, he caught it and then he tipped. But if he was. like falling over into the stands and then caught it. Would have been home run. So it would be crazy to just imagine you're the fan sitting there. you're fan like sitting front row and all of a sudden the right filters in your lap. Yeah. Like I've seen so many clips of like a fan messing up or the interference. Yeah. That certain situation. Yeah. But luckily they didn't. It's luckily for the angels they didn't. shout out. Shout out Joe Adele, a rival team, know, make it plays out there in the outfield. out Joe Adele. Speaking of a team that's not a rival team, Matt, your next Brody of the Week. My next Brody of Week, Cooper Flag. Once again, is the third or fourth time he's been on here for me. Cooper Flag's been running for Brody of the Year already. He's surely going to be rookie of year. But this would have been like, if you didn't choose him, I He's going to be my Brody of Year. Yeah. Um, once again, he's, he's breaking records. Um, I'll speak to the, the previous two games that he played the most recent two. Um, I guess the one before the, just played Lakers last night, but the night before that, or I guess two nights ago, they played the, the Orlando Magic and he had, he finally broke, uh, Eclipse the 50 point mark. It's 51 points. six rebounds, three assists with six made three pointers and three steals. Although it was a loss. It was a loss. guess people might take that into consideration, which I mean, the, the manager, an awful team. they're, I think they're, they're the seventh best odds and the draft are now, means they're like the seventh worst team. Yeah. So. Yeah. I look too hot, the rookie of Cooper flat. Like I don't, I don't care if they, I don't care if they wonder lost. mean, I, want them to lose only for draft purposes. Like I want to, I want to watch them win, which they did last night, which he had, he had 51 against the magic at 45 last night against the Lakers. We're missing Luca and Austin Reeves, but apparently they, they don't play defense. It didn't matter if they played or not. would have done the same thing. So this was like the third Mavs game that I watched. It was, this was Sunday night basketball. ⁓ I imagine NBC when they booked this game, they were like, Lucas coming back to Dallas. He's having MVP season LeBron, you know, doing what he's doing at 40 Austin Reeves going off and the Cooper flag. Like that, that's what they had pictured in their mind. Turns out what we got. Is the young versus the old, it was the teenager versus LeBron James, uh, the 40 year old. And, uh, I think we can clearly say now, you know, Cooper flag better than LeBron question mark. think it. Okay. So Cooper had 45 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and the LeBron at 41. He had 36 points, uh, nine rebounds and 15 assists, which 15 assists on a. a Luka and Austin Reeves, ⁓ like a Lakers team without Luka and Austin Reeves is very impressive. Also shout out Luke Kennard who had a triple double. Yeah, was a random Luke Kennard game. incredible. Unexpected. But so first half, LeBron had 22 points and Koop had 26. This was the first time in NBA, NBA history, a teenager and a player over 40 years old had 20 plus points in the same game. It only took one half for that to happen. Yeah. And LeBron's been in the league longer than Cooper Flag's been alive. So. Correct. Insane. Also got some other, I mean, there's so many stats that Cooper has accumulated over there over the season, but. He had 96 points in those two games, those two most recent games. is most points in back to back games for a rookie since Will Chamberlain. He's the youngest player ever with back to back 45 plus point games. He has the most 40 plus point games for a teenager. He has the third most 45 plus point games this season. And I would, I'm gonna ask you, who are the two above him? Who are the two other players that have more 45 plus point games? Keeper flag. And just what, and just this season? Yeah. Cause he's third, not just for rookies, but for all players. Well, I'm going to throw out Luca, even though he's now hurt. Correct. Okay. Who else has been balling out this season? I mean, there's Shay, but I feel like that's like the easy answer. That is the answer. Oh, is it Shay? Is it SGA? Yeah, it's Luca. I thought it was, I thought it was like a, someone that I would never think of, Luke Canard or something. I Luke can artist set a 45 point game. No, I just thought it would be like someone random or something. No, but that's elite territory. Yes. Elite company. Lucas, Shane and cube. Two of the guys that are leading the MVP race and then Cooper flag who should be leading rookie of the year. Yes. Now is he now? was just, I was just pulling up the eyes. Uh, yeah, I did pull up the odds. Cooper flag is minus two 50 when rookie of the year, uh, battling out his Duke teammate. Duke teammate, Khan Kniepel, who is now plus 150, who was the favorite before Cooper flag had these last two games where he just kind of went off. But I think just, I think people just hate them as man. There's no way con would ever be the favorite against go. Well, I don't ever know if they treat it the same as like they do with MVP where you have to have like a top team. Like I they do. I know hornets are where they at in the playoffs. mean, Cooper. As a rookie leading the Mavs in points, rebounds, assists and steals. guess the Hornets are just at the playing game right now. know the Hornets have a way better record with the Mavs, but. And I do understand that Koop has played more than Khan. And that Khan has, is the youngest player to ever have as many threes as he does or, or whatever. Plus I guess Khan isn't getting the same opportunities, Coop. Like Khan's like the second or third option on the Hornets versus Cooper flag is the one that is the first option for the Mavericks. They don't really have anyone else that to his caliber, they did have Luca, but they got rid of him. So he's kind of filled in that gap of what Luca was doing with the Mavs. Yeah, he's doing that at 19. Yeah. Just a fresh 19. Yeah. The future looks bright for the Mavericks. We don't need to go there. We go there plenty of other episodes and I don't want to bring down Cooper flag. I don't want to say it, but I kind of want to say it. Say what? Oh no, don't say it. I think I know what you're about to say. We're not going to listen. Luca will always be my sweet, sweet Prince. Our Sylvania, but it's, time. might. It's time. Like he's not coming back. And it's time that, you know, we move on. know. not coming back from his injury or he's not coming back. Okay. He's not coming back to the maps. We can, we can hope and dream. His house is still here in Dallas. I understand. But with what he's going through, first the maps broke his heart. Now his fiance broke his heart. He's got nothing left in Texas, dude. Yeah. I, I am upset the. divorced Luca seasons over, at least in the regular season, there's a chance that he comes back. Uh, for anyone that I guess lives under a rock, we may have jinxed we, we were going get into that a little bit later in the episode, um, it's just been a, it's been a great season from him and the MVP race. And he pulled his hamstring this last week and it's like a grade two pool or whatever. think it's a pool or something, strained it. whatever hamstring they've kind of shut up now for the regular season. There's a possibility comes back for the postseason, but I did see hamstring strain, which is a partial tear. Yeah. And I, and I did see people posting clips of, uh, what was it 2017 or 2018 LeBron when he carried the calves to the finals and people are just making those edits now. Now LeBron's right where he wants to be. He's ready. He's ready to carry the Lakers, but not with the 108 and is your center. Yeah. And then Reeves, I don't know what's wrong with Austin Reeves actually. I don't know why he was out of this game. It's a, he's a grade two oblique muscle injury. Okay. I saw he declined the player option. Oh, he's out for the rest of the season. The regular season. Yeah. Okay. I was going say, I did see there was something that he declined their player option and he's going to become a free agent after this season officially. So, Lakers, you know, a little trouble, things are looking bright in Dallas. Austin Reaves deserves the bag, but I don't know if the Lakers can afford the bag that he, that he wants. Well, speaking of my next Brody of the week, someone that the Lakers possibly could afford, but he's playing overseas. Jay Cole, the rapper is going to play basketball in China for the, and forgive me here, the Nanjing monkey Kings in China. And that's per Shams. from ESPN. He's not playing a full season for him, but he is suiting up for a couple of games. So, and he's going to get some valuable minutes. So the multi Grammy award winning artist, Jay Cole, apparently he's nice with it. He can, he can shoot pretty well. And, and I've seen him in the all-star games. He's, he's kind of dominated whenever he plays against like the celebrities and stuff. So it'd be nice to see him actually play some, some other competition. I think he's played in a couple other leagues. I think there was like a couple other continents he's played on. think it was Africa and then he played in Europe a little bit. ⁓ he hasn't played like full seasons or anything, but he has played like up level of competition. So he's really like that. Yeah. So he's actually pretty good. And I'm mad. was going to ask you, do we think Jay Cole could possibly make it to the NBA? And it sounds like the Lakers might need somebody. LeBron and Jay Cole. If Mac McClung can't get. Shying to an NBA roster. Jay Cole definitely can't. You know, don't Jay Cole. mean, he actually is a pretty tall guy. You know, he might be able to. Mac Macleod is a G league MVP. Yeah. mean, look at 50 plus point games. I mean, look at Brawny, right? You know, Oh my God. you know, had. The game that Lugui went down. I saw a clip. There's three straight possessions where Brawny got the ball ripped from him. And okay. So he just yammed it. It's a tough look. I mean, yeah. unexpected scenario. that Mac McClung doesn't have a father in the league or maybe J Cole gets an opportunity. don't know. Maybe J Cole is Mac McClung's father. We'll see. ⁓ and then my next Brody of the week here, Kirk Cousins agent, not Kirk Cousins, Kirk Cousins agent. ⁓ he has absolutely got another bag for Kirk Cousins, Kirk Cousins. I thought this was an April fool's joke when I first saw it. ⁓ he's going to the Raiders. For $172 million on five years. Um, it's really a one year contract with $20 million guaranteed. Kirk Cousins, now the fourth highest paid player in NFL history. Based on this contract, he's going to be making a career earnings of $331.7 million. Man, I was going to ask you, who's the other three NFL players that have made more money than Kirk Cousins in their career? I'll give you a hint. Two of them are playing right now. Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is six. Oh no. Matt Safford. Matt Safford is one at $448.3 million. Shout out to Matthew. Is the second one a quarterback? They're all quarterbacks. Jared Goff. Jared Goff is seven on the list. Oh. Well. One of them's retired. One of them is still playing. Okay. Tom. Tom is three at three at 30 or $333 million. So Kirk Cousins, one more contract. He'll pass Tom Brady. Okay. So there's, so two is playing. Two is playing quarterback. Yes. Uh, Joe, not Joe Flacco. No, not Joe Flacco. Uh, I mean, not my homes. Joe Flacco is 32 on the list. Not my home. Mahomes is nine. Okay. Cause he didn't get his 500. ⁓ Tell me when you want the next hit. The next hit we'll give it away. ⁓ is it Russell Wilson? Russell Wilson's five. Yeah. I'll just name every other player on the list, I guess. ⁓ I can give you a hint. Okay. I'll take a hint. Plays for America's team. Really? Yes. Dak Prescott is number two. Ray Prescott? That's insane. Dak Prescott with $337.9 million in career earnings. This is like guaranteed. Like they've, they have acquired the money. Yes. So Kirk Cousins, guess could change a little bit depending on, think the guaranteed money. I'm not exactly sure exactly where that's with, but yes. That's why it was iffy on my homes cause he, his contract is like so. Yeah. Deferred Matt, since you're a fan of him, Drew Brees is 12 on the list. Yeah. He. That's him and Tom. They were taking pay cuts. The better men of the team, man. Deshaun Watson 11 on the list, by the way. We don't speak about Deshaun Watson. saying he's higher than Drew Brees, which is crazy. I will say in Kirk's defense, Kirk's defense obviously is not worth this right now, but, I know they're There's still going, this is not going to stop the race from drafting Fernando Mendoza in role in a role. But I do agree with the signing. I don't agree with how much he got signed for, but ⁓ not throwing Mendoza into this. ⁓ Disaster of a roster immediately and have learning from Kirk. He's, he's a good quarterback, man. That was my next question. What does this mean for Fernando Mendoza and the Raiders? Letting him sit for a year. ⁓ at least hopefully only starting one year learning from Kirk, letting the Raiders have another off season to build around him. Although they already have with signing, ⁓ the Ravens former center, who's now the highest paid interior offensive lineman of all time. kind of gives me a Michael Pennex vibes. of what we literally just saw with the Falcons where they signed Kirk Cousins and then they drafted Michael Pennex. Although that one was more of a shock. I think we still expect the Raiders to draft Mendoza. I don't think this is going to change their draft strategy here at all. It's kind of what you're saying, Matt, if it's going to be, Hey, we're going to have Kirk Cousins here. That way Fernando Mendoza, when he comes in, he's not expected to start. If something goes wrong or whatever, we have another quarterback here as a backup. That's a very good quarterback. Wouldn't say a great quarterback, Kirk Cousins does only have one playoff win in his career. Yeah, they don't, but he's a veteran in leadership. Right. And you I'm homeset behind Buck Smith. But normally the expectation is for like the number one overall quarterback is that they come in and play. So this is just an interesting, I guess maybe insurance plan from the Raiders. ⁓ I still think if you draft Mendoza, you kind of have to, if you draft them one overall, you kind of have to send them out there week one. I don't see, I mean, this is the Raiders. They could easily go Kirk Cousins week one, but I feel like, you know, your fans are going to be one, like you start Kirk Cousins. Okay. Just start the clock of when the fans are going to be fed up with it. They're going to want Fernando out there. This is a point, but I think the fans got to understand that the team, even with Mendoza, it's not ready to, they're not ready to perform at a high level. Right. ⁓ so I, I know he's getting drafted number one overall, but it's not like they can trade down and still get him or get another quarterback Schiller to him. Cause I think the drop off is pretty big. It's like him and then Ty Simpson. Right. ⁓ so I mean, have to take him. Would they be crazy to just go ahead and trade the first overall pick and then get a lot of value. And now you have her cousins. If they, if they're not sold on Mendoza. Who is number two, the Jets. mean, if, each. He could do it to the highest bidder. doesn't have to be the Jets. I'm saying a team that doesn't, isn't going to draft a quarterback because you got to take Mendoza if you're the Raiders. Yeah. I mean, if you're, you're one overall, feel like you have to, you have to take Mendoza even though some people don't have a quarterback. The Jets, if they traded out from number one, it'd have to be with the Jets with assurance that they're not going to take quarterback. Cause if you trade out, think the Jets Would take Mendoza. If he's there. So I mean, you're, you can't. Unless they don't want Mendoza. That's to a high better. That's what, yeah, that's where I'm getting at is would the Raiders consider like, Mendoza not their guy that they want? I got to think about next year's draft class and the quarterbacks in there. mean, Arch Manning, Dante Moore. Yeah. So you'd say the next draft class is going to be more loaded. Right. Maybe not. Next quarterback wise. mean, Arch Manning is. I say more, but there's not a promise. if you have Kirk Cousins, you're probably not going to in one overall spot again. Kirk Cousins will win your games. Is he going to take you to the Superbowl? Of course not. So, mean, yeah, I don't, this isn't like a, I don't think there's any scenario where they trade the pick. Right. Um, and just running through Kirk Cousins, like career contracts. Um, so he started off with Washington. He made 2 million his first rookie year contract, uh, 2012 to 2015, 2016, he got franchise tagged 19 mil. 2017 also got franchise tagged 23 mil. Then he went to the Vikings for three years, 84 mil. Another two years with the Vikings, 66 mil. And then franchise tag a 35 mil with the Vikings. And then he went to the Falcons on $180 million deal. And now with the Raiders on a five-year deal. So this might be the last contract that Kurt does get, but I would not put it past his agent to get him another one. He's got enough. He's got enough. He'll be, he'll be fine. Fourth over a fourth highest paid player ever in NFL history. Yeah, he's fine. Uh, with that, we will come back and I believe Matt, I don't know what we had next. Was it, was it, we're doing March Madness? I know where you did some other NFL stuff. Either way. Either way. You will find out this next segment. All right. Starting off, we got some NFL. I guess one NFL thing real quick and we'll do some March Madness update on the game that we're watching the National Championship. Matt, start us off. What's the NFL news? Yeah, this is like the. Hasn't really been a lot of NFL news besides the Kirk signing. You want to call that big news? But this is actually big news. Mr. Sexy Dexy. Big guy. Dexter Lawrence has officially requested a trade from the New York Giants. He will not participate in any Giants off-season workout programs. ⁓ apparently the Giants and, and Dexter have been trying to work out a contract for the last couple of years. Obviously no progress has, there's been no progress. ⁓ he has two years left on his deal. He's set to make 20 million this season. ⁓ he's the best interior defensive lineman in the league. I think that's. Like a given, I don't think there's really any competition. This would be a, I guess for the trade, if there is a trade, if the trade goes through, this would be a huge hit. The Giants to their D-line. I think they finally solidify their D-line. They just got out the corner this, this Bastraft, which was like a almost run defensive rookie of the year. They have Brian Burns on the other side who was top five in sacks. They got obviously Dexter Lawrence. Up the middle. And this would be huge hit to the D line. Yeah. I mean, the giants have, I mean, last year, a lot of people consider it one of the best D lines in the league. And then you got this contract situation going out with Dexter Lloyds. It's almost, it kind of gives me vibes of like, you know, when Micah Parsons was kind of holding out on the Cowboys. Yeah. Didn't show up until very late. think, actually, I think he, he sat out like the first couple of games until he finally got like a deal done with Jerry. I think everyone remembers that he's like laying on like the training table or something. Uh, and they finally got it all worked out. So I think the Giants, this is an interesting, has he requested where he wants to go? No. He just said he wants to trade. mean, yeah, it's hasn't come out if he has said he wants to go to a certain place, but any place, everybody wants, everybody should want him. Yeah. Just the price tag, guess, if a team can't afford him. Yeah. I know he's obviously wanting to, he's going to want to probably a record breaking deal. Yeah. For, yeah, for interior D lineman, you should get it. They probably will get it. ⁓ as people might see, like a nose tackle is a kind of like whatever position, which in most cases it is. ⁓ but with Dexter Lawrence and his run stuffing ability and his pass rush ability. which you never really see from a nose tackle or an interior D lineman. That's, that's rare and he's like the best at it. So, yeah, I'm to think where I'd want to like, where he would fit in well at if he went somewhere else. Obviously the giants won't trade them in the division. So that rules out Washington, Cowboys and Philly. Yeah. They have, there is a good track record of guys going from the giants to the Eagles and do it very well. Let's say going Barkley. Yeah. I mean, the Giants have a three, four. He might benefit more from a three, four scheme, but I think he could run, he could play D tackle for a four, three as well. Um, he's he's a full on, he's a full athlete. I think the Giants, I think they get this, they get this deal done. I think this is just part of the negotiating, you know, playing a little hard ball, like, Oh, if you won't pay me, I'll go somewhere else and request a trade. I'm gonna it seem like, you know, I'm going to drum up all this other like. noise about it. I think we'll see. I don't know. I also, I don't think there's anyone in the draft at the Giants would be trying to target bringing someone else in. They might wait until after this draft season is done and then be like, okay, we'll reassess. didn't get anyone time for us to pay them or something like that. I mean, we'll get into the draft talks later. Later episode, but yeah. How's the big board going, Matt? The big board is copping along. getting big. There's not much time. It's getting big. Board's getting big. There's not much time, but yeah, I plan on doing like a mock draft. I think we might try, we might try and like record a podcast or something during the draft or do like a special episode. At least for like the first round, maybe second round. because. Yeah, first few days. Yeah. Yeah, definitely. I mean, we might have to like. make it an edited cut version of it because it's going to be, yeah. mean, the first day takes so long. It's like four hours to get through 30 picks and then once you get through those, goes a lot quicker. 32. Yes. But yeah, there's, there's going to be trades inevitably trades, which is going to make it longer. Yeah. Maybe this is why Dexter Lawrence is getting ahead of it now. He's putting it out there that, you know, maybe I think it, I think teams like you least call the giants now you're going to say, Hey, Let's put together a package, especially right around the draft. Here's, here's some picks that we have coming up. I mean, he's an older, he's not that old to where the Giants wouldn't reshine them. I mean, the Giants, have, after this last year, they have a bunch of young stars. Like if they can get this team together with their quarterback now, Jackson Dart, you Kamp Scadaboo, Dexter Lawrence, Abdul Carter, and Sam Burns. They have a ton of talent. Exactly. I don't even keep track of all the talent they have on their team. can't split up. They can't split up this. Their defense was their like their it's their ML. Yeah. And Dexter Lawrence is that cornerstone of the defense. Like he is the nose tackle that he's the big boy that shutting down the rush. And then they got all the other help on the outside and then their offense is finally coming along. Also he can rush the passer as well, which is. He also, he can, uh, oh no, no, no. I'm thinking of the, uh, I'm thinking of Philly's guy that blocks the PATs. Jordan Davis. Jordan. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. That's just the first time it came to mind. No, no, no. It's not Jordan Davis. Probably Jordan Davis. Who am I thinking of? Athletic freak. Yeah. The big guy that always is the, every time they try and spike the ball, gets down. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, is it Jayden Carter? Oh, Jayden Carter. One of the two. Yeah. One of the two. Jordan Davis, a person. Yes. Jordan Davis is their nose tackle. Okay. Also, yeah. Okay. They've shown me Georgia defensive line. I lose count. It's like they're all, it's just the Georgia defensive line. It's a shocker. know, these NFL teams, they should just draft guys out of Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and they'll have a really solid defense. It's really, really tough there on the, they should do. Surprise, surprise. ⁓ SEC has great players. Yeah, surprise surprise draft from the best teams SEC Speaking of which I guess there's not really an SEC in the national championship But we can go to the national championship a little update So the national championship is going on between you kind of Michigan We're about 11 minutes into the fur or 11 minutes left in the first half. You caught is now tied it up 11 11 Me and Matt do have a little bit of a side bet going on a little podcast bet So we we put $10 on it. I got you con he's got Michigan Just we have a reason to watch this game, reason to root for someone. I'm also rooting for Dan Hurley after he got in the face of the ref on the, was it the, yeah, it was the Duke buzzer beater. It was, well, I guess the go ahead. It wasn't a buzzer beater. It wasn't an official buzzer beater, but I've just been rooting for UConn since and also just the rarefied air, but Michigan, know, taller team. They've been absolutely dominating people. think they've scored, yeah, they've scored 90 plus and they're all their games up to the national championship. So it's been. I think they're the first team ever to do that actually. So they're actually been on a historic clip, but it's national championship. It is tied right now. Well, I guess Michigan just pulled ahead. But Michigan's record in the national championship, Matt, would you like to take a guess? In all time out of seven games? they ever won? Yes. One and six. They're one and six. Meanwhile, Yukon in the national championship is six and ⁓ So we're going to see if they can keep that going for this. I will say that, ⁓ don't think a lot of people had Michigan in the Natty or winning at all. Like ⁓ I, know the most picks were like the one seeds obviously, but it was like Duke and, ⁓ like Florida, the two big ones. Right. I think, mean, well, I'd say, think more people had Michigan in the national championship than Yukon because Yukon was in that absolute stacked region. I think was the East region with, ⁓ with Duke, Kansas, St. John's. think North, no North Carolina wasn't in there. Who was the two seed? Iowa State. No, Iowa State was in Michigan's. Michigan State. That's who I'm thinking of. That was also in there. They had like all the, all the blue bloods in that region. So the fact that Yukon came out of it just speaks to Dan Hurley and what they're doing. Uh-oh. Ooh, touching. Flash. Yukon just pulled ahead. All right. I will say like, uh, there's a lot of talk on the, which first, which, uh, which one seed will lose first. I think a lot of it, a lot of people are saying Michigan. I don't think they, they thought they would make it this far. Um, and they really like put their foot down in the tournament. I'd say the whole big 10 had a great showing in the tournament. think. What was it like out of this sweet 16 teams, 10 of them were from the big 10. Yeah. a Purdue, Michigan, ⁓ the others, the others can stay it obviously, but it's been a fun tournament. mean, obviously there's no really like true Cinderella. Right. But I think games have been super fun except for the last couple. It has been to blow up when Michigan, Arizona, I thought that game was going to be a lot closer in Michigan, just absolutely. handled Arizona. And Illinois and you kind of thought Illinois would. It got a little close. Illinois should more fight. Illinois made it close to the end, but it really wasn't. Right. As close to the score made it seem. All right. What's up everyone? I don't know where I'm going to cut this into the show. The national championship just finished and Michigan has won their second basketball national title in school history. ⁓ Dusty May, head coach for Michigan. I think he won the other one at FAU, was at FAU. I think it's his first title. But overall, the final score was 69-63. Michigan Wolverines win it. ⁓ UConn was undefeated in the national championship before this game, but now they have officially lost. Matt, we watched the game. saw, yeah, we picked it up from whenever we finished recording, I guess the end of the episode. I'm going to go ahead and say it, dude. Michigan is just a tall team. They were absolutely bullying Yukon. Yeah. They got a bunch of trees out there, man. They got a bunch of trees out there. Shout out to, uh, I don't know who it was. said that had a bunch of trees. Your uncle had a bunch of Shout out to Michigan. Still winning the game shooting. Although they shot 13 % from the three point line. Yeah, two for 15 from three. And that's where I get to, they were just tall and it just seemed like every time that there was a put back or rebound opportunity, Michigan got it and was able to take care of it. I mean, like they said, they just had, they, taller team won tonight. But Michigan, I think we talked about a little bit on the, when we were recording the potty guess initially is Michigan was on a historic clip. did not score 90 points in this game. So it was actually a close game. I'm just glad this, this national championship wasn't a blowout. But it's a sort of. I guess fouls. Yeah, there was a lot of free throws. mean, Michigan was 25 and 28 from the line. Yukon was 12 and 16, so the more disciplined team won. Yeah. Even though I'd say Michigan was probably the most physical team coming into, into March Madness. Yeah. They were more, they were more dominant. will say facial expressions wise, Dan Hurley was definitely, if that was the national championship, he won tonight. Be once he had for sure. He doesn't keep anything close to the chest there with you with with him What just happened to me? Sorry. It's late as we're recording this so these guys with that ship show late on a Monday night It's always tough to to get through it. But yeah, Dan Hurley what you see with him is what you get He's gonna let you know how he feels about a play or what's going on But yeah, I mean you con they did make it close but ultimately I met I think at the end it was like a They were clear. It was what was it? Three point, four point game, four point game. mean, Michigan, Michigan, let them come back a little bit. I mean, you kind of had some clutch threes at the end, but again, they were following, you know, Michigan still had, was just shooting free throws. the commercial for the official gear. The entire like last two minutes. Yeah. It was just free throws by Michigan. Try to see if there's anything else here. Uh, yeah. Very different championship game. I'm sure a lot of people. Did not have this. They might've had Michigan winning, but they didn't have UConn in there. sure. Well, I saw like over the last 19 seasons, either the one seed has won or UConn. And once again, we were in that same boat of the one seed was going to win or UConn. now the one seed won. Matt, unfortunately, I do have to send you $10 now. ⁓ Michigan did win in our little, our little bet that we had. So. I made it interesting at least. to Elliott Cadeau and Yaxle. Those were the top players for Michigan tonight. But honestly, it could have been Andy Mara, Adey Mara, or any of the seven footers that they had. mean, UConn was just having so much trouble at the room. don't know how many... It might have been the story of fouls, but also blocks. There was blocks all around for Michigan. And UConn had some too, but... I it was a very poor shooting performance from both teams. Yeah, I was saying, just got the luck of the free throws. Yeah. I was saying these championship games, like it comes down to defense offense gets you to the championship. A defense is what wins you the championship. And it just Michigan and I had the taller guys, better defense. And, uh, you know, I thought maybe if there was anyone that was going to beat them, could have been the Yukon Huskies and Dan Hurley. Uh, but Michigan just was on a clip. They only lost three games this whole season. They're just a good team. Although I did see a fun little stat. Yukon had more players from Michigan on their team than Michigan had last year. Michigan had a bunch of transfers and then Yukon had Terris Reed who was from Michigan. That's NIL for you. that's NIL for you. You know, the NIL segment we did, I don't know where exactly, but yeah, shout out Michigan. Hail to the victors. I think that's what they say. Go Blue, winning their second national championship in school history. Matt, any other closing thoughts? That's it, man. All right. That's it. Everyone will get you back to the regular scheduled podcast, but shout out March madness officially over. Shout out Wolverines. Shout out Wolverines. UCLA women's basketball won the national championship. took down South Carolina in an absolute blowout game. 79 to 51. Shout out UCLA. Shout out UCLA's head coach, Corey Close, who was in her 15th season as a head coach at UCLA. It's the longest 10 year coach in women's basketball to then win their first title. So in a year of NIL and everything, everyone moving around, speaking of which, I guess we could talk about a little bit what's going on with the NIL. She stays with it, stays the program, you know, brings her team to a national championship. It's actually UCLA women's first national championship. So UCLA normally a historic like national championship college, what they've been able to do. And then they are able to finally break through. They are the second big 10 team to win a title joining Purdue in 1999. And they had 31 straight wins, which is the longest in program history. They finished 31 and one on the season. Only lost two, I believe Texas somewhere in the season. And Lauren Bettis for UCLA will probably be a lottery pick in the WNBA. Shout out. see the beef between the, the women's Yukon. coach and the South Carolina coach. Gino and, uh, what's Don Don Staley. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not going to lie. Beef dude. Well, G first of all, it's good to have a little girl in your sport. I saw why, uh, guns coach. He was explaining why he was upset that they have a, there's like a pregame routine for the final four or something. Yeah. I mean, they meet at half court at a certain time or something and he waited and She didn't show. So he was pissed about that. said he waited for three minutes for a handshake from her or something. I'm not, he was that like during the interview, he was like, or during the presser, he was like, y'all know about this, right? He was like trying to get people to agree with him. don't know if that's a actual thing. So it is a thing. Maybe that's a thing. It is a thing. Now, however, being upset about it and the way that he handled the situation and he's even come out and apologize for how he did apologize. In the moment, I believe he was just mad that he lost and it was kind of, I think it was more just like, yeah, let's say, yeah, he wouldn't, he wouldn't have brought that up if they won the game. He wouldn't have gone up, but I think he was just, and also it was like a blowout win. So you know what? Listen, it's good to have a little drama in the sport, but I think he was kind of being a a bit of a crybaby about it. Little D bag. Yeah. Well, just not a D bag. Just like it's a handshake, man. Like, okay. So you didn't come shake your hand. Good. Tell your team that use it as fuel, get it started fighting or not really a fight, but just like yelling match at the end of the game. Yeah. I mean, it was a good yelling match. The referees had to step in and separate them and, and he kind of stormed off the, off the court upset, but I get it. Tensions are high, but could have a little drama in the sport, but I think that was a little soft. That's exciting thing in women's basketball for a while. Yeah. I just mentioned a little bit, but the NIL that's going on, apparently Trump has signed some type of act of Congress or something getting involved where it's making players, they have to be at a college, they get five years of eligibility. They can only transfer once for free. And then if they transfer again, they get redshirted and have to sit out a season, I believe. How do you feel about that? every sport? Yes, for every, I believe it's every sport in college basketball or in college athletics. I mean. Cause my initial thoughts on it is there should be, I like it. I liked it. They're trying to get some structure to college cause it is kind of the wild west and it's coming from someone whose school has benefited great for the wild west of college athletics right now. There should be one exception in there. If the coach leaves, they get a free transfer no matter what. Don't make that use as their one transfer. Cause these coaches can leave whenever they want, you know, even get bought out of their contracts or something. And the players are kind of stuck there. If they had to then use their one free transfer because their coach left and they go to like the wrong school or something. I don't like that, but that's my one caveat to it. Also the NCAA, guess is not a thing anymore. If Congress is having to get involved or the, U S government and college athletics. Yeah, they should probably stay out. But I mean, players getting playing four teams, playing on 14, you know, different seasons. that's, mean, but that's why I agree. There should be some type of structure. Yeah. But I mean, you can't introduce an IL then now introduced that you have to stay on the team. I guess, unless, mean, there's, don't know. Well, that's what saying. They get, they get one free transfer. Do they sign like contracts, like multi-year? deals or just like one year, like one year you get this amount of money for, and then the next year you would have to decide to stay and then you get another deal on the same team. have brought up that idea of if you, if you do one year, you get less money. If you do a two year contract, you get more money than three years, you get the most money. I don't think there was a talk for a four year contract, but I think they were just kept at three years. Cause normally players that are getting those contracts want to go to the pro sports after. But I like the five years eligibility. like all that. just think my only caveat to change on that is if the coach leaves, you get a free transfer. It doesn't count as your transfer or you don't have get red shirted because of it. Yeah. I agree. Shouldn't have like six, seven years of eligibility. mean that you don't want to, there's some players right now that, have played that long. We're almost, I think we're almost done with that because of the COVID year. Like we're finally. They got the, they got the COVID year and then you get a red shirt year. Yeah. I guess that definitely plays a part. So that's officially about to be done, but I think now we're going to start seeing, I don't some players just want to stay in for the money, especially if they know they're going to go to pros and they won't go pro. They just want to stay in college and keep getting that money. I think the five year limit is good. I agree. At least maybe if, I guess if they end up doing like graduate school or something or just staying to get their masters, maybe, maybe there's a certain hours that have to take. I think we saw Carson Beck in the national championship. He's like, I haven't taken class in two years or whatever. That's crazy. That is crazy. You should have to be like, have some hours at the school or something, whether it's an online basket weaving class or something. You to to take it some type of hours. fact that he wasn't in class and all he had to do was play football and he still wasn't that good. That's kind of crazy. What was it? What were you going to bring up, Matt? I was going bring up WNBA. Okay. The big news. The dub surrounding that the dub, uh, Chicago sky traded angel Reese to the Atlanta dream for two first round picks. I think it was 2027 and 2028. Uh, which was more than the mascot for Luca. I didn't hear about this. She's teaming up with Brittany Greiner. Oh, okay. And I would argue this would this be the most. Electric duo in sports. It's definitely probably going to be one of the most electric duos in the Debbie NBA. And those prolific rebounders. I, yeah. Atlanta dream, whatever the rebound bet is, take the over. They can rebound each other's misses now. Yeah. doesn't have to, doesn't have to get her own misses. It's going to be a lot of offense for the, uh, for the Atlanta dream. That's kind of, mean, I guess that's. I didn't even hear about the deal going down. Yeah. I didn't even hear about this at all. She's a big player for them. Yeah. Normally like, I mean, she's like in what her second or third year or something. I think it's her third or fourth year. What is she like 2021 LSU? I don't know. Nothing like that, but she's a good player. Yeah. That'll be an interesting little matchup for them. It's going to be a new powerhouse in the WNBA. They got a good rebounder now. Yeah. And then guess Chicago sky's going have some picks and maybe they go and get a Lauren Bennis out of UCLA. Maybe they do. And get their, get their rebounder back. Yeah. Good. All right, Matt. Good news. thought, I didn't even know. I didn't even hear about that and then the going on in the league. It's not an in tap. No. Staying with basketball. We've already talked about Luca being out for the season. We've already talked a little bit about the MVP. I guess now the MVP race has been limited to SGA, Wimby and Jokic now. Niko's already fourth anyways. Yeah. But I, we can do a little MVP talk of now. I think it's now more SGA or Jokic. I don't think it's really Wimby's yet. Not yet. ⁓ it is. You think so? ⁓ apparently after he had that, you know, that press conference where he was saying that he wants MVP. Now suddenly he's shut up and MVP votes or MVP standings to two. I did see this. was I say Luca and then either Wimby or Gucz, but after Wimby said that he wanted it now suddenly he's two. When is the actual like MVP get announced? Is that after the season? That's like right in the playoffs, I believe. Either way, I did see this cool little, just like graphic, I'll put it up on the podcast, but if Jokic wins the MVP, he'll be a four time league MVP and he'll be tied with LeBron and Wilt Chamberlain all time. If SGA wins MVP, he will be the 14th player to win back to back MVPs. And if Wimby wins, he will then be the youngest MVP in league history, surpassing Derek Rose past Brodie of the Week. Dude, if there's a storyline for the MVP. If Wimby wins MVP, I'll actually crash out. That will be a fun podcast. I might be rooting for Wimby now. I'll crash out, man. The stats have been the same for the past three years. He hasn't improved his game that the team isn't even played like half of the total minutes for the Spurs. Yeah. I did see Luca was trying to get the emergency, was it a special circumstances case or whatever? His agent, 100 % where he only played so for anyone that doesn't know I think you have to play 65 or 64 games to 65 to get any type of league awards. Luca has only played 63 this season until he went out with his grade two hamstring tear. But the agent did put in for a special cases, whatever they call it. But the space he's saying Lucas kid was born this year and he missed two games because of that. And then he was back playing. So they're trying to say like, Hey, special circumstances. still, I think Lucas should get some type of awards. I don't think he'll get MVP because he's going to be missing so much time, especially coming down the stretch. ⁓ but I think he should get, know, whether it's offensive player of the year or whatever it's going to be, he should get some type of, some type of credit for the season. Come on, casual, they don't have that. ⁓ they don't. It's good. It should still be all NBA first team. All NBA first team. Yeah, that's what it is. He at least get some type of recognition for his season. This would be a crazy waste of a historic season. He broke so many records, not only Lakers records, but like NBA records as well. Right. Like it would be just being saying that. If this was just a forgotten season. Yeah. I mean, I know like he probably wouldn't have won MVP anyways, but he's still being MVP. Don't listen to last podcast where he's saying he should be MVP. Should still be MVP anyways. Out of those top four MVP candidates, his team has won less games with them off the court. Nope. Go listen to last week's episode if you want to know why we should be MVP. Sorry, got like, I've been battling like a sickness. All right. But what I want to talk about, Matt, is Lucas teammate LeBron. We're bringing up LeBron again. LeBron's golf game. I'll go ahead and say it. Jordan might actually be the goat now. Jordan might actually be the greatest of all time. Cause the bronze golf game, he was just on a, ⁓ he did a round with Bob does sports. And I bought the sports, ⁓ Bobby burger. Listen, if you want to collab, if you see this somehow, if you want to collab, please get us on. But he had, he had LeBron on and, ⁓ listen, LeBron, he's only been playing golf for eight months. So we'll give them a little bit of grace here, but man, did he struggle and it was just nice to see him. ⁓ athlete of LeBron's caliber struggle with golf. And listen, LeBron, I'm not a professional golfer, but it was, I got some tips for you if you're open to it. If you'd like to know. Matt, I was going to ask you this question because you've been playing a lot of golf. And I'm sure you watched the video, right? You watched yourself swing. did. How many strokes do you think you could give LeBron and still beat him in a round of 18? I don't know what he shoots. I don't know what he shoots either, I think you could give him 30. That's insane. I don't think I can give anybody 30. I think you could give LeBron 30. can't. I don't think I'd give LeBron 30. That would just be I know his swing, his golf swing is like... But it just looks so unathletic. Which is insane considering he's like the most athletic NBA player ever. If we did any other sport against LeBron, he would destroy us. Pick a ball for the... It probably wouldn't be this impeccable. He's six, eight. He's got the range. It's probably got the finesse too, but the golf swing, is, ⁓ he's speeding up the hands a little bit coming through. It's, it's a, it's a good, it's a good video. Go watch it after this podcast, but it was just nice to see. I wanted to bring it up just cause I was like, you know, grow the game a little bit. Yeah. LeBron, good place of golf. said he's getting into it more. he's like I said, he's only eight months in, he's He said wanted to pick up something hard when he turned 40. Pick up something challenging that he's not good at. Yeah, that he's not good at. And, we need to get him in the American, the American, ⁓ century championship this next year. to his, his teammate, Reeves about golf. Yeah. He Austin Reeves is a, no, he's a dog. Yeah. I him in the, I saw him in the American century. He's really good. Very hand-out-quited. Ray Allen, ⁓ Jr Smith. Yup. They're all very good golfers, which is, they're also very good three point shooters. maybe there's a little hand, a little something there. think LeBron, I think you give him a year. He'll be really, he'll be not really good at golf, but he'll be decent. mean, he'll getting, he'll be getting lessons from really McElroy and yeah, he's got the money in the time. Yeah, like, yeah. Get him in a Pro-Am or something. The more he plays, like I said, he's only been playing eight months. It's kind of been off or on, but it was just, it was just, it was funny to see. Matt, getting into, I guess, do we want to go opening day or Masters? go baseball first. All right. Getting into opening day or I guess the MLB opening week. It's kind of opening day was last week, so we're a little bit behind on this. Just kind of what we saw so far. We'll start off with the Pirates. Really the Pirates is what I just wanted to talk about. Paul Skeens had a rough first start against the Mets. Gave up five runs in the first and was benched. And the defense wasn't helping much either, but ⁓ I think we just put out a clip of what would happen first, a perfect bracket or a home run off Paul Skeens. think it's safe to say home run off Paul Skeens. Okay. If he's struggling the way he was struggling against the Mets. But once again, defense wasn't helping much there either. Within the second game, the second start, three hits, five innings pitched, three hits, one earned run, two walks, five strikeouts. Well, I saw his ERA. It was a 1.8 ERA there. So he's down to a 9.5. Okay. He's down to a 9.5 now. did see he was initially after that first outing, he was up to a 67 something ERA. Yeah. I now he needs like I saw it on Twitter earlier. It like he needs 22 straight shutout innings to get below a 2. Which he could do it. He could do it. But we're talking about getting below a 2 ERA, which is fucking insane, insanely low. Like he's I don't care about that. That first game that's just had the jitters. It's fine. He just kind of came off the world baseball classic. Yeah. Like he's still like the best pitcher in MLB. Yeah. Arguably. mean, there's Tariq Schubel and Gary Carsey and whatever, But staying with the Pirates here. The Pirates have a new young rookie who's doing big things. Connor Griffin thought about making him my birdie of the week. ⁓ didn't know you knew him. Yeah. saw the highlights from his first game, which that's what I was going to go through. Very good game. 19 year old shortstop for the pirates. First at bat was a, a, a double with an RBI. Yeah. Double with RBI. Then he had a, showed off the speed and scored from second and dove into home. And he just also made some really nice plays in the infield, man. I was like, you know what? The pirates are looking, looking frisky. Paul skeins gets everything under control. It gets back to Paul skeins that we know. Get Connor Griffin in there. Still the guy. Center fielder learns how to battle the sun a little bit. You're to be great. They O'Neill Cruz to not play defense. They need to embed DH. Yeah. What's the, what's the stats you have here on Connor Griffin or the, the, of the facts? Uh, I he's 19 years, 19 years old. Shortstop is the first teenage position player in the big leagues since. I'm going to, I'm going let you guess it's. I don't think you're going to get it, but can you give me like an era? are we in like the 19? currently, currently. Okay. Currently, uh, he's arguably like the best lefty hitter right now. He's got a very provocative swing. Okay. So you looked it up? No, no, no. I, oh, so you looked at it. said, when you said best lefty, I do remember he was very young when he came in for the nationals and took him to a world series. Right. But if you want to, if you would not give me any hints, I would have not got that. Bless you. said, thank you so much. Nice lefty, but you still got Bryce Harbor. You still got college war. Oh, Bryce Harper would have also been a good one. just, I didn't, I just didn't think of him. I didn't, I just knew Juan Soto was young when he came in. All right. All right. Well, I don't even know what you meant by provocative. Like the Soto shuffle. Yeah. Whenever they throw a ball to him, he gets a little, the Soto shuffle. That's a little thing. Yeah. Yeah, one soda. I put a rabbit out of hat with that one. Good one. He just signed a nine-year before he even played His first game. He signed a nine-year 140 million dollar deal with the Pirates before he's a 19 year old before it took his first at bat China contract. Did he go through any like the I imagine he did but he went to like the board. Yeah. Yeah Yeah. You must have had an amazing show in the miners. Yeah. He was fantastic. I didn't even know much about him until I saw him on the, first game. I know. mean, yeah, we don't, good friend Josh, he would know. Yeah. He knows. bring him on as a baseball expert. We should, cause he knows, he knows. He can come on and get us ready for, we're not some of the games we think we're, like you said, we're 10 games into the season now. But we're not watching double, triple or single. No, we're not. Listen. We watch a lot of sports. We're not going to get into the minors. We won't get into the minors of the G G league unless it's Mackleclough. Which I do agree with. mean, bringing them up. mean, got nothing to lose. Your team is. Is and was awful. The pirates went out and made some good signings this year. They added a little bit. They added a little bit of offense because they really is Paul Skeens. I mean, they're not like spinning like the Dodgers or anything, but. They also got some good young pitchers as well outside of Skeens. So parts are looking up. So good for them. Speaking of somebody who's made their debut this year, Murataka Morikami, Japanese ⁓ third baseman for the White Sox made his MLB debut this year. And I actually knew him before this, solely because I played MLB the show 23. And that was the last, ⁓ world baseball classic. And so they released cards from, you know, every, ⁓ every team, that played and his card in the, in the game was so good. And it shows obviously he has a good, had a good card for a reason. ⁓ he had four, he has four home runs and his first nine MLB games. ⁓ and he, saw, I saw a snippet of a. of an interview with them and they were asking him, know, what makes you so good? And he was, he was like, power, my power, my power. he's just got a good power. Yeah. So you four home runs in nine games. He's got good power. yeah. I, ⁓ so you he came from, you said he came from Japan. I don't really know much about him, but I knew, knew about Japan. There, was the same thing happened with Shohei Otani, but normally they have to play. a certain amount of years over Japan baseball before they can come over to the MLB. Yeah, it's 26. That would mean why he's 26 and making his rookie debut. Right. I always think that's just an interesting rule that Japan has. And don't get me wrong, those players want to go play in Japan for a little bit. Japan has probably some of the best baseball fans out there. like the high All the best baseball players out there. Yeah, yeah. But I'm just saying like the, the fans and like the atmosphere, like even their high school games are just like sold out stadiums. And there's like pitchers that will pitch all nine innings. Like they don't really care too much about the arm health out there. They're just more like you go until you can't go anymore. And I respect, I respect Murakami signing to the, to the white Sox and not to the Dodgers or to the Yankees or to the Mets or teams like that. And he, he wants to make his name outside of the, that's how the big teams, he could have gone to the Dodgers and they'd, would have another, you know, rushers already like, you know, half of the best Japanese players in the world. Yeah. So I respect his decision to go to one of the worst teams. I they can go anywhere they want when they get here. Yeah. Good. All right. Shout out. Shut up, more commie. Is that right? Yeah, more commie. more commie. Getting in here to probably what most people are tending in for. got some master's talk. We saved it till the end of the episode. But Matt, we have officially made it. Georgia's calling our name, Augusta National. Georgia. Georgia's on our minds. Georgia. And if anyone doesn't, you should download the master's app. It is probably one of the best apps out there just with how smooth it is and how organized it is and you can able to watch everything. I'm not saying you should watch this, watch the masters on Thursday while you're working, but that does do very well if you need to. They watch martial madness while they're working. Yeah. So say we're the best sports month. There's a reason there's only one major that has ⁓ an app. Yeah. None of these others have it. Uh, but Matt, we've kind of gone through it on the app. has the fantasy, like masters group that you can build up that your players and your teams. And so we're going to go through, yeah. A little fantasy. Um, see anyone has that itch. If you fantasy football is too far away and you needed to get a little, get something out. Uh, listen, we know the other degenerates, guess, if you want to a reason to gamble money, but if you want, you know, Yeah. With your friends, know, friendly wagers. Free gambling, like pick players above other players to do well. Yeah. So Matt, starting off with, you have to pick five players or is it, yeah, five players, right? Yeah. So starting off with you pass champs, United States player, international player, a first timer, and then a wild card. So Matt, we can go and run through our picks. can't really see our picks until the master started, but I figured we'd just go ahead and run through them. You can see each other's picks. Oh, you can. Okay. For my past champ, there's a of people to choose from. Actually not too many people to choose from. got like Fred couples. have Fred couples, Dessa Johnson, Zach Johnson, Hideki Masayama. I went with Scotty Scheffler. Surprise, surprise. Did you all, who would you go with for your past champ? Okay. I like Scotty. Um, I could have gone with Rory, although I think I saw since the two thousands. I don't know when the last time it happened, but it's been like over 20 years at least. Um, there's never been a back to back masters champion. Yeah. And if it was probably was tiger woods. Yeah. The fantasy thing is like, you want to pick players that are going to, uh, do well. mean, obviously, but pick players that are notoriously do well at the masters. Yeah. Right. Like, you're not trying to pick the winner. for each category is trying to somebody who's who you know is going to finish in the top. Okay. So we both got Scotty. How about for the United States? think we might be in agreement here. Yeah. I went Bryson DeChambeau. I went Bryson DeChambeau. I think after, you know, I talked about on Liv that he had the back to back wins. ⁓ I just saw on his YouTube, played little Augusta course in Arkansas. So he's getting ready. He's getting into the master's mindset right now. ⁓ last year he was right there kind of in the final, I think he was in the final group with Rory or he was a little bit before, but he was making a charge. ⁓ someone that's kind of like, call him the mad scientist. I feel like he kind of need that a little bit out of Augusta. He's played it a couple of times. I like it a lot. ⁓ Just on the cuts wise out of the nine cuts that he's played, he's made seven of them. And yeah, last year's score, he was seven under. I think Bryson DeChambeau, he might be my favorite to win the Masters this year. is my favorite to win the Masters. think he's going to do it. International, this is where I went with Rory McRoy. ⁓ I saw Ludwig sitting right there, although he has kind of these last couple tournaments I've seen him in. Hasn't been able to really finish well. ⁓ I could go with either of those guys for my international, but I I'm going with Rory. think, you know, he did win last year. I don't expect him to win this year, but I think he's still going have a good showing. ⁓ someone that has played the course a lot, figured it out. ⁓ and he is, he is playing good golf this year. He's just, I don't think he's what he was last year. Yeah. I went with Justin Rose. I did like Justin Rose as well. In his second, ⁓ in the masters last year. I wouldn't mind seeing Justin Rose. get a green jacket this year. He just did a video with a grant Horvat. I watched that today. So did I. So he's obviously on his game. Yeah. mean, you watched the whole thing. was, yeah, he shot a 29 on the front nine. So yeah, he's, he's on his shit. ⁓ Pretty hard question for it apparently. But, ⁓ I mean, it's, this might be up to, I might change this. I do like, like Ludwig a bear. There's Victor Hovland. There's John Rahm. can pick for the international. There's a bunch of good guys. I just want the Justin Rose. I probably will stick with it. So nice. All right. For the first timer, this is kind of like, I think this is where you win the fantasy. this is where you're, this is really where it gets a little different. ⁓ Ben Griffin, think is one of the favorites out of this group or Chris got her up. I'm going with Jacob Bridgman. Only because I've seen his name up there in a couple of tournaments. He's had a couple of really good Sundays. Um, so I like it a lot. I think any of those other guys you're more than happy you could go with and you could. Well, he was leading it. The Pebble beach. I do believe the one that, uh, more Cal one. Yeah. And then he like, I believe so. And then he like dropped down. He had like a, yeah, think he was in the water or a triple and or a quadruple, I think on one hole and just tanked his chances. But well, that could easily happen at Augusto. I think Ben Griffin. There's no rhyme or reason. If Ben Griffin's wearing his sunglasses, I would not pick him. I picked him out. Where's like aviators out there? It was between him and Goddard. Yeah. I mean, I'm this is bunch of good guys. First timers that could perform well, knows? Insanely hard course. then for my wild card pick, I went with John Rahm. ⁓ I almost went with him for my international. ⁓ but I, I think if you're trying to win this, he's added the nine cuts that he's played in or the nine masters he's played, he's made cut every time. And last year he finished with a score under par. And I think he's, I think his game is just suited very well for Augusta. He also was a past champion. ⁓ and he just had that big playoff with Bryson and Liv. So I think he is playing good enough golf to be in contention for it. ⁓ I actually wouldn't be surprised if John Rahm had the green jacket at the end this either. Who'd you go with for your wild card? I went with fellow lefty, Akshay Bhatia. ⁓ okay. Akshay. Coming off and the Arnold Palmer. The illegal putter. Invitational. Supposedly supposedly he'll be in touch in his chest. It's not touching his chest man. You'd be able to tell dude. He's very small Skinny fella skinny guy dude. He hits the shit out of the ball though I know and yeah, I feel like you have to choose a lefty being a lefty yourself. I know I do I think I pick one every year but with Akshay my wild card. It's been doing well obviously won a tournament, know Less than a month ago. Yeah, technically so And I think he was also in contention at Pebble Beach as well. Yeah. He's been playing well. No. 24 years old by the way. Yeah. He could, he could do any, I think he did the drive putt and chip there when he was young. So he's got a lot of history there at Augusta. Great tidbit. Also just a notable name that I saw that was doing very well is Matt Fitzpatrick. He's played a couple of tournaments. He's always been in contention. Actually he won one on the PGA's tour already this season. ⁓ I think he's someone that's playing good and good enough to do it. Wouldn't be surprised if he wins it or is able to pull it out. Matt, I will ask you though. What's the tiebreaker that you did? The tiebreaker for this is how many total putts will be recorded in the tournament field at the masters? See, this was. used Google. I used Google for an estimate. Yeah. I asked, ⁓ chat, GBT. didn't really give me one. ⁓ I, I did some mathematical calculations. Okay. I did, I took a golfer. ⁓ but I kind of did the average of your putts per hole. It's like, I assumed it's all assumption. Yeah. I assume like two to three, usually probably two, maybe a little above two. So I mean, Augusta greens are very tough to put on. It's a point. Maybe it do, maybe it go higher. I just want to hear what your number is. It's 4,000. Okay. I mean, I did. Two, did two per golfer. Right. Eight for 18 holes, that's 36. Did a little more than that. And then I, you know, times that by the. Number in the field. Total golfers, right. It's a hundred. Okay. Right. Now let me bring you this information of what I got from Google. What did you say? An average estimate between like the last 10 years, it's between 8,300 to like 9,500. So my number I went with is eight thousand six hundred and one So I think you might need to go revisit your number and anyone else doing this. I yeah, maybe I was actually good. We gotta think about the guys There's so many amateurs and that's great book change that yeah, it's not not every guy's gonna go out there be Scottie Scheffler Roy or Bryson That's such a good point. That's fair Was there any other name that you were getting ready for, like that you see could win the Masters? Anyone that we didn't name? I mean, no, I just. Maybe we went through all the big names. I got T-Shimbo and that's it. I don't think we're have like a random random guy winning. Maybe Scheffler. But that's the basic answer, right? Yeah. I was getting ready for Tiger, but everyone knows what happened last week. Can't really, can't really choose that right now. He's not playing in the Masters. Which I was so excited for, but. Didn't happen. I'd pop a few perky's and show up. It might be there. I did see people were talking about the course. said there was, the Masters have very fast rains and stuff. They, just from the practice rounds today on Monday, they said they had gotten a little bit of rain. So the course wasn't as fast as they initially thought. So it might be a little slower. your putt, it might be actually more accurate with your putting that. I think we might see a little lower number on the putting. It's got a few days to dry up. Yep. All right. So that was our master's preview. Hopefully our fantasy as well. We'll update everyone next week. We'll know actually who the master's champion is. So looking forward to that. I know what I'm going be doing Sunday and probably Friday, Thursday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. I'll be also watching the masters. right, Matt, let's get to our final segment here. Keep three cut five. You have a good one for us. said, or for me, I do. got a good one. I'm going to give you the ball. I'm going let you run with it. My favorite segment, keep three, cut five. I'm going to give you eight options. You're going to obviously keep three of them, cut five of them. ⁓ so this one, it will be wide receiver duos. Ooh, okay. Currently. Okay. What's one? One, I'm just going to preface. If you're starting a new team, I'm going to give you an option for a wide receiver duo. If you want them. Right on their team. I think it's a good way to look at it. If you want them, I'm going say keep them. Okay. I got an idea of what I'm, what I'm looking for, but you might, it won't be the top eight. It could be, you know, just random. are, don't give me any heads. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. First one, the Minnesota Vikings duo of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Justin Jefferson arguably. Still top three. one of the top. Like, if I'm taking this, it's only because of Justin Jefferson. Jordan Edison ain't bad, though. Jordan Edison isn't bad. It's... We're not doing a J.J. McCarthy's throwing the ball. like... You get prime Tom Brady. Yeah, we're doing strict, just receive a base. I'm going to... Something in me is telling me to cut this. I'm cutting it. Cutting Justin Jefferson, huh? Yes. Okay. The next one. The Bengals duo of... Smart Chase and T Higgins. ⁓ All right. I like Jamar and T Higgins. I'm going to keep that one. I'm keeping Jamar and T Higgins. like that. I like that. I'd call you crazy if you cut them. Yeah. The next one, I've took a little Liberty. The next one, the Seahawks duo of JSN. And I put Rashid Jaheed in there because Gimper Cup is kind of at his end of his career. Rashid Jaheed is more fun. You got that deep threat element to them. I'm going to obviously great receiver just had one of the best seasons we've seen Rashid Shaheed. And now this isn't like utility, so I'm going to cut them. if it was like also pump return, kick return, would say, yeah, I'm going to cut that one. point. Fair point. Okay. Next duo Steelers duo of DK Metcalf and Michael Petten jr. ⁓ So is what number are we on? We're on four. Yeah. Okay. So there's four more coming down the pipeline. I'm going to cut this just because DK Metcalf might punch a fan and I might not have him for the season. That's a very fair point. Yeah. And I feel like these cut, these guys are kind of do the same thing. They're just big targets. They're fast. Yeah. Yeah. Like when I get Jamar chasing T Higgins, those guys do two different things. That's what I'm kind of looking for. Correct. Okay. So next duo is the Rams duo of Puka Nakua and Devonte Adams. I'm going to keep that one. don't want to... that one. Yeah, that's... We're at five, so got three more to pick one. Yeah, I think that's a good clip that we're at right now. But I'm really worried that I'm going to pigeonhole myself here. Next duo. Okay. The Broncos duo of newly added Jalen Waddle and Coraline Sutton. I mean, good duo, but I think... I'm okay. think I'm going to cut this one just because Jay Waddle. Yeah. I haven't seen them on the same team. I just think potential wise that's good potential. Yeah. Jaylen Waddle is a dog with proper quarterback. Okay. Next duo is the Eagles duo of AJ Brown and Devante Smith. So this is seven, correct? Correct. There's one left. I mean, I like AJ Brown, Devonti Smith. I'm really worried that the next one's going to be my beloved Cowboys, but also it could not be. And these are two very good receivers. Hmm. Two arguable number one guys. Devonti Smith this last year was absolutely balling. He could be a number one fella on several teams. Yeah. AJ Brown does bring a little bit of drama with him, little divinist to him, but you kind of have to have that to be. When he's on the field. When he's on, he's on though. But there could be. Or there couldn't be. Yeah. You know what? I'm going to keep this duo. I'm going to keep Devon Smith, AJ Brown. Okay. All right. Now what did I leave out there on the table? What was the eighth? You know who the eighth is. Oh, is it? Is it my beloved? ⁓ I left the mate for a reason. You had the for a reason. Who is it? I wanted to force your hand. No. It is the Dallas Cowboys duo of CD Lamb and George Peckins. Okay. Okay. So the three I kept were, ⁓ Jamache, Stee Higgins, Pukka, Nakua, Devante Adams, and then ⁓ Eagles, Devontae Smith, AJ Brown. The only ones if I had it, if I like, if I knew this list and I would change out, it would probably be, I'd probably trade out the Rams just for right now of what they are. ⁓ think Pukka is a very good receiver. Devontae is a little bit older. So I think that's where I would trade it out for George Pickens and CD. But he got me. He kind of, he kind of pigeonholed me a little bit. got scared. I didn't want to have like a. Just some random duo that I didn't know. And I know all the duos, I wouldn't know like. Right. And I left them last not only because they're your favorite team, but because I think they're the best wide receiver duo in the league. I think, I think I would agree with your three. Although maybe just, yeah. Yeah. Just looking at it wholly, looking at the list and they go take your three. Maybe Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison can beat out. Uh, AJ Brown, Devonta Smith. Yeah. mean, like the two are locks. Yeah. I think there's the top two. Yeah. Chase Higgins, CD land pickings. think I'm not upset with my list. My bias, I would just, I would, I would have picked George picket. Honestly, there's a lot of, especially this year, obviously we haven't seen some of them play together, but there's lot of good wide receiver trios. Maybe it's next time. That list gets a lot shorter on what's actually good. That'll make it way easier because the C act have no chance. That's good. good. Good. Keep three, cut five. I got one that I've been, I have in the chamber, but I don't think I'm going to use it yet. So yeah, next week will be you giving me five. Maybe I like to, I like to put you in a tough spot too. So good. Keep three, cut five, Matt. All right. With that, we can get out into closing up the show. Hope everyone has a great master's week, man. Thank you everyone for listening to the show.
