- 0:12Well, good morning. This is Michelle Hughes and Ageless and Timeless. Today,
- 0:16I have someone here that is very very special. Her name is Angie
- 0:20Wong. She's a licensed massage therapist and she has her office in Hollywood,
- 0:25West Hollywood on Sunset and we'll give you all that detail later, but I
- 0:30wanted you to know a little bit about Angie before we introduce her, because
- 0:35I've always looked at massage as one of those modalities that's part of Ageless and
- 0:40Timeless. And however, when choosing a massage therapist, I think you have
- 0:45to be very very careful. And there is certainly a difference between what I
- 0:50call a massage therapist and a healer. And I would say the massage therapist
- 0:56is more like going to college, and the healer is more like going to
- 1:00graduate school. And when you find a healer and that healer really has an
- 1:03impact, a positive impact on you and your body, then you know that
- 1:07you have found nirvana. So stay with that person because that person has somehow
- 1:15psychically connected, intuitively connected with what your needs are. And we all we're
- 1:21all energetic beings. So when somebody feels our energy and then can tap into
- 1:26it and help to exacerbate. I mean, I'm sorry, defeat the problems
- 1:36that we have by finding the root cause and working with that. And Andie's
- 1:42going to tell you a little bit more about her treatments and her modalities.
- 1:46So without further ado, I want to introduce Angie Wang and she'll tell you
- 1:51more about what she does and why she does it and how she got to
- 1:55where she is today. So Angie, welcome. Thank you so much Michelle
- 1:59for having me. And I want you to know that today when you're talking
- 2:02to me, look in the camera perfect because it seems odd, but because
- 2:07I want to look at you as well. But then we're not looking at
- 2:09our viewers. And so it takes a little bit I know, it takes
- 2:13a little bit of training to do that. So Angie, you started,
- 2:19I think you got your degree in two thousand and two, and you've worked
- 2:23all over the LA area in spas and chiropractors and acupuncture opposite, where have
- 2:30you found your greatest satisfaction in terms of your before you started your own company,
- 2:38where did you find your greatest success? Yeah? Absolutely, And because
- 2:44of the different atmospheres that I worked in, I definitely found the most satisfaction
- 2:49in the medical setting obviously due to the fact that many people really live with
- 2:54chronic or acute pain anywhere, you know, all throughout our body, whether
- 2:59that's a neck and shoulders, low backum, hips, you name it,
- 3:04you know, head to toe right, And so many of us have experienced
- 3:07injuries in our life, some of which we don't even remember, which is
- 3:12so interesting. Um, you know, you have to remember that once we
- 3:15have been born, our body has been with us every single day, every
- 3:19second of the day, and it's literally recording every movement, every thought and
- 3:24feeling emotions that's stored in the body. And that's why, um, you
- 3:29know, it goes deeper than just physical pain when I talk about what I
- 3:32do, um, you know, collectively, but yes, a lot of
- 3:37the the findings that I see is is so much fulfilling when I'm in the
- 3:40in the medical space of real when you're when you're in a medical office,
- 3:45so they allow you to do a little more, take a little more poetic
- 3:50license, let's say, in terms, because they're medically certified. Then if
- 3:53you're doing it in a like a spa in Beverly Hills, Um, you
- 3:59know, it's interesting. I would you what do you mean like poetic Like,
- 4:01well, when I said poetically that was kind of a metaphor I meant.
- 4:04What I meant is are you allowed to do a little bit deeper work,
- 4:08a little bit more let's say, uh diagnostic medical diagnostic in terms of
- 4:15the client versus more superficial body work. Well so yeah, so not to
- 4:20knock the spas because they're amazing, right, and there there's benefits for both.
- 4:25Um, what I found those that when I worked at the SPA,
- 4:28it was just it is very superficial. It's more of like treatments, body
- 4:30scrubs, um, you know, to really get overall relaxation. However,
- 4:35when I was at the spas, a lot of times when people would book
- 4:40Swedish there still would ask can you give me more pressure? So it was
- 4:43like I pretty much was giving a sports massage, whether whether they knew that
- 4:46or not, right m And then on the clinical aspect, you know,
- 4:51I'm typically working under the direction of the doctor or you know, um,
- 4:58either the cairo or physical therapist kind of giving me an idea of like,
- 5:02okay, what's going on with a client, this is what we're going to
- 5:05focus on. And so therefore I would you know, have a little bit
- 5:10more freedom direction. Yeah, okay, so what led you to start your
- 5:14own company? Yeah? So, I mean, I you know, I
- 5:16realized that, um, so many of my feedback people would say, oh
- 5:21my gosh, this is so great, like what is this style? This
- 5:25is I feel so amazing. Um, I've never felt this way before,
- 5:28you know. And a lot of a lot of these clients they're well traveled,
- 5:32right so, um, you know they would they would consider themselves very
- 5:36experienced in that in that um receiving end of getting massages, and so you
- 5:43know, I start thinking, I've always been an entrepreneurial type of spirit,
- 5:46and I realized, you know, I can do this on my own.
- 5:48I don't have to work under the premise of someone else. And not that
- 5:53I have a problem with it, as I love to actually collaborate with professionals.
- 5:57But um, what really pulled me in another direction was the whole CBD
- 6:01and THHC aspect of things, where that's what I do. I incorporate that
- 6:06it's very you know, kind of niche, right Like I know that it's
- 6:11very new right now in today's like just like what's going on with the government
- 6:16and everything, but a lot of people are more open to having more holistic
- 6:19natural healing, and I was able to find, sorry, my mentor.
- 6:27Her name is Liz McDuffie. She's been an activist in legalization since the sixties,
- 6:31and you know, I found her program and I got trained under her.
- 6:35She's actually recognized through the state of California as an educator in that space,
- 6:41and so I took her program and that allowed me to then become a
- 6:46cannabist practitioner. So not only am I now like a license massage therapist understanding
- 6:51the body, but now I can you know, incorporate natural medicine to elevate
- 7:00healing for people. And I thought, hey, you know what, I
- 7:01can do this on my own. I approached a few people that I've worked
- 7:06in the past, like chiropractors and such, and they're really like, kind
- 7:11of skeptical and weird about it, and I said, you know what,
- 7:13like, if they don't want to do it, I can. I can
- 7:15absolutely get this going for myself. So I did. Well, you say
- 7:18that in such a sweet, simple way. But taking that step, as
- 7:24we all know, those of us who have taken the entrepreneurial leap, we
- 7:29all know that the risk is huge, but the rewards are greater if we
- 7:35are diligent and of course succeed. So of course you had to go through
- 7:41some leapless nights, I'm sure in terms of getting the funding and all of
- 7:46the things that go along with starting your own company, licensing and finding office
- 7:50space, signing leases, you know, right, right right, So I'm
- 7:55sure that that little simple description is not quite as simple as it really was
- 8:00in reality. But congratulations, it's been how many years now? Actually two
- 8:05yesterday it was my two year After two year, I saw that, I
- 8:07saw that on the internet. I was like, yeah, great for you,
- 8:11so excited. Two years and still flying high and growing absolutely well.
- 8:16So let's take a moment and talk about the CBD versus the THHC versus cannabis.
- 8:22So you know, I spent seven months in helping some friends of mine
- 8:26launch a CBD company, and it's my feeling and this is just personal that
- 8:33I guess. I feel like CBD is the is the answer because it doesn't
- 8:41get you high unless that's what you really want. If you really want to
- 8:43get you know, high, then don't go to CBD. But if you
- 8:46can do all the same properties of medical marijuana, why wouldn't you and you
- 8:50don't want to get high, why wouldn't you just stay with CBD totally?
- 8:54So can you tell us what your feelings are about that? Exactly what you
- 8:58said? It's really quite simple is that you know, for example, if
- 9:03you if you take talannol, right or advil, you would typically take that
- 9:07because you have some kind of symptom of pain symptom, whereas with CBD you
- 9:13can take it as a supplement, right because naturally we already have inflammation throughout
- 9:16our body, you know, with all the acidic foods and whatever else that
- 9:20we're putting into our system. CBD really helps offset the inflammation. And as
- 9:26we know, inflammation typically leads to disease. So if we have if we're
- 9:28able to control the inflammation or body, then we're able to maintain a healthier
- 9:33lifestyle. And as to comparison to THHC, you know, dosing can be
- 9:39very tricky, so you know, some people have had really adverse effects of
- 9:45like edibles. You don't know when it's going to hit you and how much
- 9:50to take. You have like a cookie and it's the cookie is amazing,
- 9:52and you eat the cookie like a regular cookie, and then it's not a
- 9:56regular cookie. You know, so people get very fearful, you know,
- 10:01they had one bad experience and they're like never again, you know. And
- 10:05not to say that THC is is bad, there's definitely, um it's you
- 10:09know, what's really amazing about cannabis these days is it's becoming so much more
- 10:13intelligent, whereas you know, you can you can go to someone who's truly
- 10:18knowledgeable. You know, like I'm not knocking dispensaries either, but sometimes I
- 10:22don't think they have the capacity and the education to really guide someone who's really
- 10:28like, hey, I'm new to this and I have these type of ailments
- 10:31or this disease, and this is what I want to you know, like
- 10:33treat um. And they'll be like, oh, this is great. You
- 10:37know, They'll give them like one hundred milligrams of THC and then they don't
- 10:41know how to dose it, and then this person is like in the hospital
- 10:43the next day. So like, you know, again, with with you
- 10:48know, proper education, you can use THHC for sleep, for appetite increase,
- 10:54you know, for um. You know a lot of people who do
- 10:58have cancer, unfortunately they go through chemo and um um, oh my gosh,
- 11:03Cohn radiation and and their and their bodies. Right, they can't stomach
- 11:09food, they can't keep it down. So actually THD has these benefits where
- 11:13it can help with the nausea, can help it increase their appetite, so
- 11:16they want to eat. Keeps them healthy, right, you will. You
- 11:20got to nourish the body, especially if you're fighting something so so intense like
- 11:26cancer. You know, it's interesting to me that the um cannabinoid system has
- 11:30been with us, yes, you know, forever. Why is it all
- 11:33of a sudden we're addressing that as a as a modality that we can actually
- 11:39control and improve. What what happened to create that that awareness of the cannabinoid
- 11:45system and why and there and therefore CBD became such a widespread panacea. Yeah,
- 11:52I'm glad you mentioned that because as you as you said, we actually
- 11:56have a system. Just like we have a lymphatic system, we have a
- 11:58muscular letal system, a nervous system, we have an endocannabinoid system. And
- 12:03that system is compatible. It's like the glove that fits with the cannabinoids in
- 12:09cannabis. So whether it's CBD, thhc THHCA, CBN, CBG, there's
- 12:16literally hundreds of cannabinoids that we're actually not familiar with. UM. It's we're
- 12:20still scraping the surface. You know. It's incredible how much research we're already
- 12:26retrieving just right now in the very beginning stages, as we are you know,
- 12:31allowing the legalization in certain states, and as we continue to really kind
- 12:37of you know, put go to the edge, you know, and not
- 12:39to the edge where it's like dangerous. It's it's really you know, we're
- 12:43always looking for innovation. We're always looking forth better and more effective, right
- 12:48in every aspect of the industry. That industry is here. So in the
- 12:52health and wellness, if there's other ways that we can have a healthier lifestyle
- 13:00without having to constantly be on like medication like you know, um chemically made
- 13:07ingredients, then why not. Well, because we know that pharmaceutical drugs have
- 13:13their their role to play, particularly in a crisis. However, there are
- 13:16always side effects and that's what I think most people get plagued with in terms
- 13:22of trying to use them on a routine basis where they can have alternatives and
- 13:26not have those side effects. Why not, And you know, the THHC
- 13:31versus the CBD, the discussion we're having is really an important one because in
- 13:37case anyone doesn't know, the CBD is, I mean, the THHC is,
- 13:43the cannabis is the marijuana. The CBD is anything less than point three
- 13:48percent THHC. So if you're going to use THHC, it's it had to
- 13:52have passed that test in order to be legal. The twenty eighteen Farm Bill
- 13:58allows now allows hemp, which is CBD, allows hemp to be crossing state
- 14:03lines, It allows the growers to legally grow. It allows banks to accept
- 14:09the payments from CBD, but not yet from federally speaking for FDIC banks for
- 14:16example, not yet legal with cannabis with the THHC. So it's very important
- 14:24people understand that there's still a lot of controversy. The FDA has not yet
- 14:31caught up with the Farm Bill, so there's still a lot of disputes and
- 14:37debates and misunderstandings and as to hemp and it's it's uses. But hemp has
- 14:43been around for thousands of years. It's been used in many, many applications.
- 14:48They say something, I think I read six hundred applications. Even the
- 14:52Declaration of Independence was written on hemp paper. So you know, here's an
- 14:58a you know, an alternat native that is not talk, is non toxic.
- 15:01And Andie is using it, and I'm going to let her tell us
- 15:05how she uses it in her practice so that if you do decide you want
- 15:09to come and book a massage with her, you'll know what to expect.
- 15:15So Andie, why don't you tell us where and when you're using the Let's
- 15:18focus on the CBD. Awesome. Yeah, and really my practice, I
- 15:22do ultimately use CBD. It's very rare that client will come to me and
- 15:28want to inquire to get high. Yeah, it's funny because they'll actually say,
- 15:33I do want to get high, like no worries that this is why
- 15:35I have CBD, you know, and because they haven't tried it before and
- 15:39they're a little still apprehensive, but they trust me enough because you know,
- 15:41my reviews are great. I said, I would tell them. Don't you
- 15:43think if I if I had like someone who had a horrible um like result
- 15:48from it, they would you wouldn't be doing it well. They would be
- 15:52like blasting me on my you know, yeah, and yelp like all my
- 15:56ruds. Thankfully, I have been you know, really positive and I'm so
- 16:00grateful for my clients for supporting me in that way and you know, sharing
- 16:03their experience. But you know, absolutely if someone had a horrible experience with
- 16:08CBD, they would be like, do not take that pill, just say
- 16:12no. But but giving them one dose of let's say, a liquid under
- 16:18the tongue, you know, just a sublingual one dose in your office isn't
- 16:22going to change their lives. So you know, how are they even going
- 16:26to know unless they're gonna take it home and start using it and then come
- 16:32back to you on a routine basis with that usage. So, um,
- 16:37you know, of course, fear is always debilitating, right, and anybody
- 16:41that's the unknown can be fearful and so taking something you don't know about.
- 16:45Although today I would say CBD has become probably the candy store for um,
- 16:52you know, the new hot products, and there's just unfortunately what that produces
- 16:57is exactly what you don't want, which is it's not regular, it's not
- 17:02a regulated product, and there's a lot of Charlatan's out there, so buy
- 17:07or beware on CBG. We've talked about that on other podcasts. But Angie,
- 17:11I know, has very carefully selected the two products that she's using in
- 17:18her practice. So what are the names of those two if you don't mind
- 17:22sharing absolutely um one is Willow Creek Springs. This is the company has been
- 17:27around for I think over twenty years and he's been formulating stuff. He uses
- 17:32all natural herbs and has a botanical garden and so he does all the blends,
- 17:37essential oils, all organic. Both both companies. The other one is
- 17:41Quanta UM. I believe was started by X, a former NBL and l
- 17:48I n N in a Major League Baseball LB. I can't even yeah,
- 17:52okay, so yeah, a Major League Baseball player who had pain correct.
- 17:57So Quanta that one, and I love both of them. They work nearly
- 18:02the same, both really positive um feedback. My clients are like, oh
- 18:07my god, this is awesome? Is it? Both liquid um? So
- 18:11Quanta I only use their muscle rub, whereas Willow Creek Springs I use their
- 18:18their muscle rub as well the salve um, tinctures, pills um. They
- 18:23kind of have a more range of choices in that sense um including pet um
- 18:30products. Pet product. Yeah, that's another area that a lot of people
- 18:33don't realize that there are a little pet products for for a CBD that have
- 18:38been amazingly effective. Really that there's a little science that needs to be addressed
- 18:45for just a moment here about CBD, and you know, because scientific studies
- 18:49are not as available with products like this yet they're However, with CBD,
- 18:56there have been so many scientific studies because of the fact that it's a thousand
- 19:00years old and has been used medicinally more recently, I think mainly because of
- 19:07when marijuana became legalized in so many states. You know, hemp, CBD
- 19:11and hemp, I mean CBD and help marijuana and and and uh CBD are
- 19:18part of the same plant. They're like they're like brother and sister. You
- 19:22know, they're two parts of the same hemp plant. It's just the difference
- 19:26is what I said before, which is one has more higher than point three
- 19:30percent THHC and gets you high, and the other one, CBD, of
- 19:36course, is below point three percent in order to be legal. So so
- 19:41the reason I'm mentioning the scientific is that many people will be hesitant to try
- 19:45anything unless they see scientific studies that comes from really the allopathic model of drug,
- 19:53you know, going to being approved by the FDA and so forth.
- 19:56So, you know, I think because you're not in a regulator in industry,
- 20:00like supplements, CBD you know normally wouldn't have that much, but it
- 20:04just turns out that there are many, many scientific studies and so what happens
- 20:10is there's different parts of the plant, and you know, you can talk
- 20:14to people about how much isolate do you have, how much pure CBD is,
- 20:18how many milligrams of pure cbd and so andy. When you do your
- 20:22research on which products to use, do you ask the manufacturers those questions about
- 20:29whether it's pure cbd, whether it's mixed with isolate? How do you decide?
- 20:34Yeah, I mean, you know, honestly, it's really just like
- 20:37the response for my clients as well as my own like what I feel,
- 20:41and I just make sure that I use all organic and that's really what matters
- 20:45to me. You know, everyone has their own like preference in terms of
- 20:49like full spectrum isolate, you know, and so forth. But for me,
- 20:56you know, I just I just got lucky to be honest and I
- 20:59I stay, you know, true and loyal to the ones that like there's
- 21:03no there's no reason for me to leave or kind of venture out. Although
- 21:07I know there are other absolutely great, amazing products, it's just there's so
- 21:11many right, And I know that's also been an issue for a lot of
- 21:14people. They're like, I tried this and this one I wasn't necessarily happy
- 21:17with, or you know, versus like another brand. So they always ask
- 21:21me, like what I like best, But of course these are mainly the
- 21:22two that I work with, and I know, so you know, maybe
- 21:26it's a little biased, but it's also it's also the truth, you know
- 21:30what I mean. So right now, that's fine. And I think in
- 21:33case you didn't catch one of our podcasts, Andrea, I'll send you the
- 21:37tape of sun i Q is the company that I was a part of for
- 21:42seven months and they're still really active in the extraction part. They're not the
- 21:49retailers, so they're they're very essential to the end product. And we talked
- 21:56on that podcast with the CEO and the president, William Ossolino and Joel Rosenberg,
- 22:02and we discussed the couple of companies that we thought were efficacious. One
- 22:08one is called Quicksilver, and the founder of that company is doctor Chris Shade.
- 22:15You can look him up. And I know I mentioned it to you
- 22:18on the phone because I said, you know, I'm not trying to sell
- 22:19you on quicksilver, but I think you should look at them. They have
- 22:22a nanotechnology absorption that is I think beyond compare. And I hear so much
- 22:30good feedback from people who have tried there, and it's their product is sublingual,
- 22:34so it's liquid. You put it under your you put it in your
- 22:37mouth. You don't even have to put it under your tongue, just put
- 22:41it in your mouth, keep it there for like sixty seconds and then swallow.
- 22:45And so anyway, um, just a little you know, broadening of
- 22:48awareness because there are so many companies out there today. So let's go to
- 22:53the modalities. And I know that you promised me and I'm really looking forward
- 22:57to this a little sample so our viewers can understand how you work. And
- 23:03I'm going to be your victim today. Yeay, yay. I haven't had
- 23:07a massage in a long time, so this will be fun. But before
- 23:11we get to that, let's talk about the different modalities. If I walk
- 23:14into your office, so one of our viewers walks in, and what are
- 23:18they? What's going to happen to them? How do they how do you
- 23:19get to know me or them? And how do you then apply what you
- 23:23learn verbally into the actual session the treatment right, Well, first and foremost,
- 23:30of course, I'd like to know what it is that they're in to
- 23:32see me for. So then I'll kind of get an understanding us see there,
- 23:37you know, like postural structure, and then i'll you know, give
- 23:41them I'll start off with the dose of the CBD. I actually don't do
- 23:45a sublingual. I do a pill form. It's twenty five milligrams, which
- 23:48is a nice dose. Um, it'll definitely most people will feel something by
- 23:53the end of the session, like extremely relax um, euphoric, all that
- 23:59good stuff. And then so of course then I'll proceed to the massage and
- 24:03what I'll typically do is locate the trigger points. You know sometimes if people
- 24:07typically people will say neck and shoulders right, or a lot of times their
- 24:11shoulders are pulled forward. So I love this saying. One of my clients
- 24:15said this, and it's so like it's everything. She said, it's the
- 24:18victim who always screams, and not the culprit. So the victim being your
- 24:25neck and shoulders, and the creator of that is your chest. Right.
- 24:30So I don't just deal with the main area. I deal with what's around
- 24:37it, what is affecting those areas. It's kind of like the lower back
- 24:41is affected by the core, and most people don't handed most people don't realize,
- 24:45you know, you gotta you need to strengthen your core and your hamstrings
- 24:49if you're having lower back problems because it's not localized just to the lower back.
- 24:55So this is all like full body integration, right. And that's why
- 25:00trigger point therapy for me is super effective because I locate all the you know,
- 25:04what's triggering this ear. So if it's you know, sometimes it's even
- 25:08the lats, or it's like you know, down in these certain areas that
- 25:11kind of are overlooked or even like in them the edge of the outer edge
- 25:15of the scapula, all those muscles there. I won't throw the medical terms
- 25:19because we'd be like what, but you know, it's basically outer of the
- 25:22shoulders, um. And so I just do a very clean, thorough sweep
- 25:27of all those areas using trigger point therapy mild fashion release ACU pressure and some
- 25:33stretching to get that range of motion back and bring your body back into alignment.
- 25:37So define trigger point. Yeah, So, um, it's basically an
- 25:41area that has been collecting a lot of tension right, so like basically like
- 25:47an overused, overused muscle. Right. So again the neck and shoulders,
- 25:51like your traps would be, there'd be trigger points there, your rhomboids,
- 25:56the trigger point you know, I mean, it could honestly almost be any
- 26:00were but it's based on the person's like movements, on where you know,
- 26:03how they are using their body particularly, which is why I typically do a
- 26:07very customized treatment for everybody, you know, based on what they're here to
- 26:12see me for. So they do fill out an application when they first come
- 26:17in, and then you talk to them. You have a consultation before they
- 26:19ever get on the table, and that's where all those questions that you're you're
- 26:25gathering information about what it is they want to fix, and what if somebody
- 26:30comes in and says everything when they do, do they absolutely okay? So
- 26:36you have your challenges in front of you, So how do you how do
- 26:38you focus? Like I know there are some areas that are going to help
- 26:42the other areas, like you just talked about the culprit and the victim,
- 26:45So how do you know what order of events and how do you attack that?
- 26:51Sure? So, of course, first and foremost I would say,
- 26:53you know depending on how much time we have together. I do as much
- 26:56as I can to cover. However, if it really is a more you
- 27:00know, severe condition where like sometimes like intuitively it's like I can't leave that
- 27:06area, you know, I don't feel like it's complete yet, so I'll
- 27:08stay there until I feel like it's effective enough that I can proceed. So
- 27:14they're they're usually okay with that. I'll communicate that with them, so that
- 27:17you don't have expectations like you didn't hit my feet and I tell you to
- 27:18get my feet. You know that means you have to come back? Yeah,
- 27:22and I mean and you know, of course, I again, I
- 27:25do as much as I can. Sometimes I'm able to actually get the addressed
- 27:27them all. But if something is really like major and I can tell and
- 27:32I'll talk to them about it, they're like, no, no, no,
- 27:33for sure. Just as long as do this mainly, that's really that's
- 27:37most important to me. But if you can get other things and great,
- 27:38If not like they first of all, of course, they're usually happy with
- 27:41their treatments, so they are more than okay to come back. But you
- 27:45know, of course, if they're not happy with it, though, is
- 27:48it an hour? How long does it. It's a treatment. Typically on
- 27:52average, I'll say, you know, sixty minutes. Some clients will do
- 27:55ninety minutes, and then every now and then I'll have someone do a two
- 27:57hour session. I also have shorter you know sessions as well in case some
- 28:02people either if they're limited with funds or limited with time and they just really
- 28:04want to get that particular concern taken care of, then I can absolutely be
- 28:10effective in thirty minutes. Oh wow, I don't see how anyone could ever
- 28:14do thirty minutes. I'd be like, right even yeah, now it's a
- 28:18teaser enough for absolutely for sure. So okay, you said MYO fascial trigger
- 28:25point. What what are some other accupressure, accupressure, stretching. Those are
- 28:30the four main modalities that you that you would say you employ. Correct.
- 28:36Have you ever done loami loami? You know what I do? Incorporate some
- 28:40loami loami in there. It's the Hawaiian you know kind of yep. Well,
- 28:45because I lived in Hawaii, lived and worked in Hawaii for you know,
- 28:48a good part of my life. Uh, you know that is like
- 28:53one of the most important healing healing modalities is loami loami massade, and so
- 29:00I just wondered if anyone in your practice here has ever asked you to do
- 29:04Lomi lomi because they've had it done there. No, it's funny, they
- 29:08don't ask me. But I actually do incorporate, particularly with the feet.
- 29:11So I'll rock their feet by the heels and it literally right, it travels
- 29:15up their own entire bodies. So they're just like rocking. They're like and
- 29:18they're like, oh my god, that's feel so good. I'm like,
- 29:19isn't it incredible how just the like slightest rocking motion can just you know,
- 29:25create so much Yeah, I realized it well because really is symbolic of Hawaii
- 29:30and the sense of the aloha spirit. And basically what you are doing is
- 29:36you are cradling or nurturing the person with love, and that loving energy is
- 29:42amazingly healing, which we all know that. You know, love is everything
- 29:47in life. So you know, when you do the treatments that way and
- 29:52you show them that kind of energetic aloha, it's amazing how effective that could
- 29:59be. And you know, there are so many different types of loamy practitioners,
- 30:03but the bottom line of it all I think is that cradling of like
- 30:08you said, you know, taking the feet and rubbing them, and the
- 30:11feet of course have such amazing nerve endings, right exactly, So if we're
- 30:18going to do a little treatment today, let's let's do it, let's do
- 30:22it now. While about halfway through our discussion, and tell me, like
- 30:29you walked in the room, I had just finished another podcast and you probably
- 30:33sized me up and said, okay, this is what I need to do
- 30:37for this woman. She needs help. So what is it that you size
- 30:42up so we know what you're going to attack when we do our little our
- 30:47little victim and culprit expression here. Yeah, um, I mean I would
- 30:52kind of just you know, scan your posture and see like what's going on.
- 30:56But I've of course been asking like where you typically feel pain. Then
- 31:00I'll kind of take a look and seeing what's going on, and then it
- 31:03it will give me an idea like of the landscape, so to speak,
- 31:07and then how I would approach it. We might be a little limited since
- 31:10we have a chair massage versus an actual table, like Sophie told me,
- 31:14hips like, I don't know what I could actually really have a chair,
- 31:17But you know, okay, the good news for you is I don't have
- 31:19any pain. I'm a I'm an athlete. I'm totally totally blessed. Okay,
- 31:26So what I like is the sports massage because it loosens me up.
- 31:30And of course I'm on the phone and the computer and doing podcasts and then
- 31:34you know, the driving, and so there's always going to be that deeper
- 31:38tension. I think some people just have an ability to um camouflage, no,
- 31:45to camout no one know. I meant, in my case, before
- 31:48I get to what you're going to do, but to camouflage that expression of
- 31:52pain by just being like powering through it without any evidence of it. Do
- 32:00you ever find people like that in your practice. I am so glad you
- 32:02pointed that out, because that's literally, like I would say, ninety five
- 32:07percent of my clients really, my god, Yeah, because they're powering through
- 32:10the They don't they don't want to feel any weakness, right because we're here,
- 32:15we are in the society where we're like in this go go go exactly,
- 32:20you know, like get things done, suck it up, many you
- 32:23gotta you know you got this, and we literally forget, like we don't
- 32:28pay attention to the signs. It's like something as simple as and I'll say
- 32:30this to my clients. I'm like, how many times have you been like,
- 32:32oh my god, have to go to the bathroom and you're like,
- 32:35I can hold it. And then you're like two or three hours ago,
- 32:37buy you're like, oh my god, I have to go to the bathroom,
- 32:39right, and you're like dark. And then when you get close and
- 32:42you can't even hold it anymore, right, you know, soon as you
- 32:45get close to home, right, yeah, yeah, exactly, so you're
- 32:47like you're like dying, right, like, oh my god, I gotta
- 32:50go so bad. Yeah. Well, it's same, the same thing,
- 32:52Like you feel the pain, you're like, oh what is this And you're
- 32:54like, you know what, I'm ignored. I got shipped to do forgetting
- 32:59my language. I got I got work to do. I'm busy, you
- 33:00know. And then and then you forget about it and it happens over and
- 33:05over and over, and you're collecting and collecting and all of a sudden you're
- 33:07like, I can't move my neck. Yeah help. There is that There
- 33:10is that aspect to you if you sleep wrong or you do some exercise that
- 33:15tweaks you that part of it. But I think on the day to day
- 33:17basis. Part of it is what you just described. It's our ability to
- 33:22um basically just ignore and to just accept. Maybe maybe that's a better way
- 33:29accepting. The only way I really know when I have pain is when I
- 33:32have a massage. So here you go. We're gonna do a little sample
- 33:36and Tony's gonna get the cameras so that can we can show a little bit
- 33:40of what you do. All right, So let me see how I get
- 33:44on your chair? Should I m tell me where I should move the chair?
- 33:52Perfect? And I'm going to try to do this with a lady and
- 33:55I'll screen you then ye okay, okay, so you describe what you're doing
- 34:02while we're doing it, and Tony's gonna do the canvas of people. Okay,
- 34:07Well you want to tell me, like, if you have any I
- 34:08should take this off? I say, yeah, so that you can get
- 34:12into the to the body more. Yes, okay, so I'm trying to
- 34:17I'm not fine. I don't know if I can talk while I do this,
- 34:20Tony, so you might have to be Yeah, this time you can
- 34:22just relax. Might Yeah, we might. We're gonna We're gonna let me
- 34:27do this. Let Handy talk okay, right, all right, sure,
- 34:37that's cool. All right. So, as Michelle said, she she's not
- 34:45necessarily feeling any pain, but you know, she'll typically feel it when I
- 34:49get there. And I can already tell that the shoulders are a little tight
- 34:52and hear the front front shoulders are being pulled a little bit, and that's
- 34:57natural, right, because we're a forward moving species. Um. So typically
- 35:02I'll just you know, feel around. And it's a little different because I'm
- 35:06not I don't have the salve right now with me that I'm you know,
- 35:08they get to use. But I'll just kind of probe and feel here and
- 35:13just follow it along. Right. What did I say about no pain,
- 35:16right? Exactly? It's fair, right, And then so i'll i'll use
- 35:24so just couldn't relax to be dead weight, see, so I'll anchor like
- 35:31the muscles that are usually being moved, just be dead weight. Drop drop,
- 35:36yeah good. See. So even in this instance, Michelle, even
- 35:39though she's getting the massage, she's not knowing how to actually fully relax,
- 35:43which a lot of us do you know, we do that too. We're
- 35:45like kind of yeah, good, let's see. So I'm like around the
- 35:52edge of the scapula, and I'll do some like see this is like more
- 35:54like a trigger point or acute pressure style, and then I'm stretching it,
- 36:01pulling the shoulder back. Can you just relax treatment right, yes, exactly,
- 36:10and like learning to relax as well as an art. Right, some
- 36:14people are like I am relaxed, and actually they're not, and they don't
- 36:17even realize that they're not relaxed, right exactly, so and probably many other
- 36:24viewers as well. So then sometimes two, I'll use like my elbow and
- 36:30then I'll just sink in right, so I don't go into aggressively but a
- 36:35gradual it's gentle, but it's firm. And then I'll make sure that you're
- 36:38nice and relaxed, and then do like some kind of range of motion right
- 36:45like typically this is the kind of movement you would do with your arm,
- 36:52right right, They're right, just yeah, that see exactly. That's what
- 37:01happens though. It's the that's the mile fascial release release you see. The
- 37:06fascia is so like built up or like you know, yeah, and then
- 37:10you just move it around and get it to flow and then boom, You're
- 37:15like it's getting back into alignment of well, I feel it. Now I'm
- 37:19going to be all loose on this side right and not on that side exactly,
- 37:23So thank you so much. So now we all have a little sampling
- 37:32of what to expect and I can tell you I need it, and aye,
- 37:38why don't you tell us what you would do now if I were coming
- 37:42into for a treatment now now that you had a little yes, what would
- 37:45you say? What would you do? Well? Yes, I would absolutely
- 37:46focus on your your shoulders, but also I didn't get a chance to really
- 37:51feel the chest area right because again typically I saw that your shoulders are being
- 37:54pulled forward a little, which I've got to remember to get my shoulders back.
- 38:00All of us have to do that, right, So, like you
- 38:01know, in like outside of the table or the you know, getting massage,
- 38:07I would obviously suggest like, you know, doing a lot of rows.
- 38:10Yeah, strengthening the back so you're really nice upright and not, you
- 38:15know, because it's so strong here that the back muscles cannot They're like trying,
- 38:20but they can't. You know. That's why you naturally it's like,
- 38:22oh this feels good because I'm relaxed, right exactly. But once we get
- 38:25the back muscles to be stronger, relax can still look like this. I
- 38:31love this, This is so good. Well, I think that I'm I'm
- 38:37I'm a victim. She can't talk right now. She is like, I
- 38:42think she finally found me to be able to relax a little bit. That
- 38:45was just like a minute. Yeah, I know that that one minute can
- 38:47make the whole difference in what is that book? The One Minute Manager?
- 38:52Remember that? And so you know the one minute Massage? Well, I
- 38:54think I found some answers there that are very important. And all of us,
- 39:00all of us, there isn't one exception. Correct need to get some
- 39:05body work, and many of us avoid that because we are so busy and
- 39:08we always have an excuse and we'd rather go exercise and get treatment, right,
- 39:14isn't that true? Absolutely? And sometimes it's actually counterproductive. Right,
- 39:19If you're tight and have this pain, you go and work out, you're
- 39:22only making it worse. And then then you have kind of have to face
- 39:25the music anyway, So you might as well come in, right, So
- 39:30okay, So I don't want to run out of time and not have a
- 39:32chance for people to know what you can offer to them if they want to
- 39:37come and see you. So let's talk a little bit about what you would
- 39:39like to offer the ageless and timeless viewers, and me included yes, and
- 39:46how they can get the CBD products if they want to do that, starting
- 39:51right away before they even come and see you. So why don't you take
- 39:53over and tell us what your thoughts are there? Thank you? So basically
- 39:59I'm offering a twenty percent discount on your first session. Um, and then
- 40:02you know, moving forward, a half packages available, which are you know,
- 40:07very significant. Uh. And you can find my products on my website
- 40:12which is at www dot myo. That's m yo. The word evolution LA
- 40:16is in Los Angeles dot com, so www dot myo evolution dot com.
- 40:23Yeah, Mayo is actually the root word for muscle. So I wanted to
- 40:28really ensure that I created a name that wasn't like happy massage, you know,
- 40:31like you know, like so not that is nothing wrong with a happy
- 40:37massage. But um, you know you're you're at another level. Yeah,
- 40:40I can feel you have very very powerful hands. Thank you. Yes,
- 40:45and and um, so, evolution is constant change. Our bodies are constantly
- 40:49changing, right, so you know, whether it's from good to bad or
- 40:52bad to good, but we can always be changing for the better like that
- 40:57a lot awesome than for twenty percent is the normal fee for a ninety minute
- 41:02or sixty minutes? Yeah, for sixty minutes typically it's one hundred an hour,
- 41:06which is very affordable. Still, yeah, and everyone it's like,
- 41:10you got to increase your prices, And honestly, maybe I will in the
- 41:13future, but right now, what's important for me is really getting the work
- 41:17out there and the word out there and my results right because I know that
- 41:21the average person working American may not be able to afford one hundred an hour
- 41:25every week, and I want them to be consistent. So my packages can
- 41:30really support that kind of lifestyle where you know, the middle class American can
- 41:34absolutely afford seeing me on a consistent basis. So for eighty dollars you can
- 41:38ageless viewers can come ageless, and timeless viewers can come to you and try
- 41:43you for a one hour and then ninety minutes would be how much? So
- 41:46that would be so it's one forty Do I think that's like twenty six?
- 41:52Yeah? Fourteen times she is twenty eight, right, so it would be
- 41:54twenty eight dollars off of one hundred. Yeah, yeah, okay, good,
- 42:00And then what's your address. I'm at eight thousand West Sunset Boulevard.
- 42:06I'm actually inside the Salon Republic where there's a lot of little private studios.
- 42:09Yeah, it's on the second floor of that center, and I'm Studio twenty
- 42:14two. So does that mean they can park in the building and get a
- 42:17validation for the ninety minutes. Yeah, which is amazing because you know,
- 42:22in La parking is like it's gold right and people will like veer away because
- 42:25you're parking sucks totally. So that's why that's why I could never go.
- 42:30I never go to Venice for any you know, I love Venice, but
- 42:32you know, where do you Park's a handache in itself. They're gonna get
- 42:37stressed out just coming to me exactly. So you're so lucky that you have
- 42:40Basically they just drive right in, they get a ticket and bring it to
- 42:44you validate it. Oh my gosh. There's even street parking that's really easy
- 42:47too, Like it's it's like no brainer and it's easy location to find.
- 42:52Yeah. Okay, so that's the massage. Now what about the CBD.
- 42:55Yeah, so the CBD same thing, you know, twenty percent off.
- 43:00Can get it online on my website as I mentioned, so they have to
- 43:04put you in an age list or do they call you and you know that
- 43:07the yeah, they could call um, I'm not you know, I can
- 43:09see if they we could put a code a code that yeah they say that,
- 43:13which way we can okay that out? Okay, well for now,
- 43:16just to begin with, because we're putting our that kind of technology into our
- 43:21website as well. For your sake, I would say, maybe people could
- 43:24just call you and say, hey, I want to book a treatment with
- 43:28you, and I'd like to order some of your CBD right now, and
- 43:30I can always email me that text you yeah and let them let me know
- 43:36that it was from from here. Okay, perfect, And then the other
- 43:38thing would be um, just in the final like a few seconds that we
- 43:45have here, let's say minute, um, the difference between a massage therapist
- 43:50and a healer, which is what I let off with, can you give
- 43:52us what the differences and what you are? Yeah? Absolutely? Well,
- 43:58you know what, what is amazing that people would actually tell me right,
- 44:01So it's not even me saying I am this healer. People are like,
- 44:05you know, you are more than a massage therapist, You're you're a healer.
- 44:07I feel your energy. I feel what you do like they feel me
- 44:10feeling their body right with care, like you you touch base on like loami
- 44:15loami. Well, like that's literally what I do from the very second you
- 44:19walk in, Like you feel a sense of care of me, listening,
- 44:22paying attention car you know, like really wanting to be effective. And I
- 44:24think that's so important. I'm not just you know, okay, come in,
- 44:28what do you want right, you know, go through the motions and
- 44:30like thank you. You know. It's very much like a relationship that we
- 44:35create. I create a safe space, you know. I make sure that
- 44:38I'm like, yes, I'm getting in there, but I'm not killing you
- 44:42either. There's a difference too where people get like these deep tissue massages and
- 44:45then they leave worse than they came in. That's absolutely not the case,
- 44:51totally, Like I'm here to really be of service, to listen and care
- 44:54for people's needs. So that I think set you apart, not I think,
- 44:59I know. Yeah, And that's what I'd like to end on that
- 45:00note, because I think that I know that we have met somebody today,
- 45:07and of course I've talked to Andrew long before she came on today, so
- 45:10I you know, I was very, very discerning and who I wanted to
- 45:15express this modality because it is one of the Ageless and Timeless product or modality
- 45:23protocol offering. So I want you to all to know that this is a
- 45:30very unique young lady and she will show you that as soon as you walk
- 45:35in her door, and I think you'll be very happy. And we're not
- 45:37trying to sell her. We're just trying to tell you and share with you
- 45:40our knowledge and our information so that you get greater awareness. And that's what
- 45:45we're all about here at Ageless and Timeless. So thank you for joining us,
- 45:50and okay, you take care too well. In the very beginning of
- 46:07this podcast, I told you my goals, and that is to make you
- 46:12aware of the people and the events and the services and the products that we
- 46:21believe are going to make a difference in your life and so that you can
- 46:24be Ageless and Timeless live longer, and not only longer, but more quality
- 46:30in your years of existence. So I think today, I keep saying,
- 46:36I think I know today that you were introduced to someone who would make a
- 46:40difference in your life. And I can't wait to go have a treatment with
- 46:44her now that I've got my little sampling because I can tell that she has
- 46:47healing hands. And so anyway, we thank Angie for coming on the show,
- 46:53and we'll welcome your comments back after you've met with her and get some
- 47:00feedback to me. So Ageless and Timeless dot com is the website, and
- 47:06I'm Michelle Hughes and thank you for joining us today. Just
