- 0:08Speaker 1: Mysteries are fuel for our mind. They give it the
- 0:11Speaker 1: opportunity to open the strange doors of possibility in search
- 0:15Speaker 1: of an answer. Some might be solved in a few years,
- 0:19Speaker 1: while others may lay unsolved for as long as our
- 0:23Speaker 1: universe continues to exist. There are individuals out there who
- 0:27Speaker 1: claim to have solved many of the world's mysteries, whether
- 0:30Speaker 1: it's how the pyramids were constructed or the original herbs
- 0:34Speaker 1: and spices contained within the Kernel's finger lick and chicken.
- 0:38Speaker 1: But there are some people out there who do know
- 0:41Speaker 1: the answer to many mysteries, and they choose not to
- 0:45Speaker 1: come forward with those answers. They instead decide to fade
- 0:49Speaker 1: into the shadows and not reveal the truth that they hold. Today,
- 0:54Speaker 1: the mystery of what happened in Room ten forty six
- 0:58Speaker 1: remains a mystery, but we will leave it to you
- 1:01Speaker 1: to decide if the information that we have is actually
- 1:04Speaker 1: enough to say that it has been solved.
- 1:10Speaker 2: My name's Ben and I'm Nicole, and you're listening to
- 1:14Speaker 2: Wicked and.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Grim, a true crime podcast.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Warning.
- 1:20Speaker 1: The following podcast material intend more mature audience listener discretion.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Prodcasting. Thing that's going good.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I think it's going good.
- 1:55Speaker 2: We're on vacation, I'm doing this podcast, so we're a
- 1:59Speaker 2: little bit out of our element.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Ish you could say, we're not in our tiny home.
- 2:04Speaker 1: We're in a cabin in Ucluelet, BC, which is just
- 2:06Speaker 1: south of Tafino. So things are probably gonna sound weird
- 2:09Speaker 1: because we're not using our regular microphones. We're in this
- 2:12Speaker 1: cabin with this like tile floor, and dogs are walking
- 2:15Speaker 1: around and people are walking around outside the cabin to
- 2:17Speaker 1: throw down the driveway area, so it probably sounds strange.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and I feel like we're maybe a little bit
- 2:24Speaker 2: more relaxed than normal, you know. Yeah, it's it's a
- 2:28Speaker 2: good day.
- 2:28Speaker 1: And I'm looking outside at a and a nice doggo
- 2:31Speaker 1: cool for a nice walk.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 2:33Speaker 1: All hours are probably bitter at us that we're recording
- 2:35Speaker 1: our podcast.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Why are we not all going for a walk?
- 2:38Speaker 1: Well, we got to get this done. It was supposed
- 2:40Speaker 1: to come out today, but due to getting ready for
- 2:43Speaker 1: the trip and everything, we had a little bit of
- 2:45Speaker 1: struggle getting this episode recorded.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's about twelve hours behind, which isn't bad.
- 2:51Speaker 1: No, we're doing our best. We made the dedication to
- 2:53Speaker 1: still have this out even though we're on vacation. So
- 2:55Speaker 1: hopefully you guys appreciate that. Yeah, after this, so we
- 2:59Speaker 1: are definitely gonna go in appreciate the beautiful scenery around
- 3:02Speaker 1: here that is taffino and you clue it.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Well, yeah, Honey actually has not tried to drink from
- 3:07Speaker 2: the ocean yet, so I'm looking forward to that.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It's always fun her first ocean experience.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and you have a secret beach you're gonna take
- 3:15Speaker 1: us too, I do, I do. I'm pumped to see
- 3:18Speaker 1: your secret I'm so excited.
- 3:19Speaker 2: It's just like Heaven on Earth, so Heaven on.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Earth, and it's not actually a secret beach. It's just
- 3:24Speaker 1: like a public like a local known beach. But the
- 3:27Speaker 1: tourism place doesn't really go there.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I guess, well, yeah, they go to the one part
- 3:32Speaker 2: of it, but then if you walk in quite a
- 3:33Speaker 2: bit further then, like last year when Ripley and I
- 3:36Speaker 2: were here, we had the one part of the beach
- 3:39Speaker 2: where I'm going to take you all to ourselves for
- 3:42Speaker 2: probably over an hour, sweet, which was awesome.
- 3:45Speaker 1: That's awesome. Well, it's gonna be a good.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Time, I know. I'm looking forward to it.
- 3:49Speaker 1: And if you guys want to check out, we are
- 3:50Speaker 1: going to put up a log on YouTube, and we
- 3:52Speaker 1: are also putting up another vlog a little bit more oriented,
- 3:55Speaker 1: like on our travels to get here, behind the scenes
- 3:58Speaker 1: stuff for a patriot. So there's gonna be two blogs
- 4:01Speaker 1: coming up.
- 4:02Speaker 2: And the YouTube is it's called The Wicked Life just
- 4:05Speaker 2: Wicked Life. Oh, Wicked Life. I thought it was the
- 4:08Speaker 2: Wicked Life.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's Wicked Life.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Now we don't know.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just Wicked Life. Okay, looking at it right now.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So just like, look in the search on YouTube Wicked Life.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah, or it's in the description of this podcast too,
- 4:19Speaker 1: and you don't even know the name of own YouTube channel. Congratulations,
- 4:22Speaker 1: you fail.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I put a the in front of it. Remember when
- 4:24Speaker 2: we did that, we were on our local news.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:27Speaker 2: And at the end, didn't she ask us what our
- 4:29Speaker 2: website was or how people can find us, And we're
- 4:31Speaker 2: literally like, I don't know.
- 4:33Speaker 1: We couldn't remember if there was podcasts in our website.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yeah, we had no idea.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Well, we always say it's all linked down below. We
- 4:39Speaker 1: deal with it all the time. We never spell it out.
- 4:42Speaker 2: That's just us though, that's true.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but we got patrons to thank. Speaking of those
- 4:47Speaker 1: patrons over on YouTube or over and patron and YouTube
- 4:50Speaker 1: speaking of them, we have patriots to think that was
- 4:53Speaker 1: my thought process.
- 4:54Speaker 2: We do. I was like, I was thinking we only
- 4:56Speaker 2: had a couple this week, but there's quite a few,
- 4:59Speaker 2: so this is great.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we have Maeln, Jen Woods, McKenna, Marek, Marie Jackie,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and Felicia Godbold who all is on Patreon.
- 5:09Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So they're definitely going to be getting that that vlog
- 5:13Speaker 1: over there. They're gonna be checking it out. So thank
- 5:15Speaker 1: you guys for signing up. You mean the world to us,
- 5:17Speaker 1: And even if you're just listening, you mean the world too,
- 5:19Speaker 1: because this wouldn't be happening without you.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So thank exactly.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You're ready to get into this, I'm ready. I think
- 5:25Speaker 1: we've already told everyone a little too much about our vacation.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I think they want to hear the episode.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Yeah, let's move on.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Okay, Well, this is the story of Room ten forty six.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Okay, okay, sounds already a little bit scary.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It kind of sounds like Stephen King because.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Something like a novel of sorts that's like suspenseful.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, because like Stephen King had a room, like
- 5:48Speaker 1: a hotel room sort of. I can't remember what his
- 5:51Speaker 1: story was, but anyways, Yeah, there's a few things that
- 5:54Speaker 1: revolve around it. There's this shining bare room and then
- 5:57Speaker 1: the room at the Old Ladies in the China. Yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 1: lots of places occur in horror movies like this where
- 6:02Speaker 1: it's a specific room.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:04Speaker 1: So I think that's kind of what strikes people, the
- 6:07Speaker 1: fact that this kind of went along with a specific room.
- 6:11Speaker 1: So the room doesn't really have anything to do with it.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Oh okay, Yeah, it.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Just occurred in this room and that's about it. Okay,
- 6:18Speaker 1: So starting off, we have a man by the name
- 6:20Speaker 1: of Roland. Now, Roland was a man who checked into
- 6:22Speaker 1: the Hotel President in Kansas City, Missouri, which is now
- 6:26Speaker 1: the Power and Lights District. He checked in in the
- 6:29Speaker 1: early afternoon on January TEWOD, nineteen thirty five. He registered
- 6:34Speaker 1: under the name Roland t Owen, but gave no home
- 6:37Speaker 1: address or any other personal information, and paid for one
- 6:40Speaker 1: night stay at the hotel. Now, spoiler alert, he did
- 6:43Speaker 1: stay longer, so I'm assuming he paid for more nights,
- 6:45Speaker 1: but initially he paid for just the one night's day.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Okay, this is a long ways back, eh. It is
- 6:50Speaker 2: nineteen thirty five.
- 6:51Speaker 1: You said, yeah, back into the thirties.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Wow.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Now, this man was dressed rather nice in a black
- 6:57Speaker 1: overcoat and was around twenty years old, maybe a little.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I did find accounts that said he was up to
- 7:02Speaker 1: potentially thirty five years old as the way he looked,
- 7:05Speaker 1: but I'm pretty sure he was around early twenties by most.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Accounts, still fairly young exactly.
- 7:12Speaker 1: So. He had brown hair and a very distinct visible
- 7:15Speaker 1: scar below the hairline on right above his left ear. Now,
- 7:19Speaker 1: it was also reported that he had cauliflower ears.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I know what that means.
- 7:24Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 7:25Speaker 2: I had no idea at first because we used to
- 7:27Speaker 2: watch a little bit of USC and a lot of
- 7:29Speaker 2: the fighters on there. It's from boxing and like being
- 7:33Speaker 2: kind of a fighter, right, yes, yeah, well they're not boxing.
- 7:37Speaker 1: It's common. It's common. Here, I'll read you the right
- 7:39Speaker 1: up that I put for this. So. Cauliflower ear, also
- 7:43Speaker 1: known as hematoma orus, is a condition that occurs in
- 7:46Speaker 1: one's ear when blood builds up between the cartilage of
- 7:48Speaker 1: the ear and the skin from the ear being repeatedly
- 7:51Speaker 1: struck or bent, causing trauma on the underlining cartilage, kind
- 7:55Speaker 1: of like a fingernail going blue after you smack it
- 7:57Speaker 1: with a hammer or something like that. It's that blood
- 8:00Speaker 1: up under his nail. Same thing in the ear between
- 8:02Speaker 1: the cartilage and the skin.
- 8:03Speaker 2: But it actually never really heals, does it, Unlike our
- 8:06Speaker 2: nails that do well. It can, okay, So.
- 8:10Speaker 1: The ear actually begins to swell and like forms those
- 8:12Speaker 1: lumps of this like fluid which makes it ear resemble
- 8:16Speaker 1: cauliflower from these like bulges, and if treated immediately, the
- 8:19Speaker 1: lump can actually go away. Oh okay, not treated immediately,
- 8:23Speaker 1: then it remains permanently. So what they actually do to
- 8:26Speaker 1: treat it is they'll take a syringe and they'll suck
- 8:28Speaker 1: out all that fluid. Oh my god, before it like yeah, pardons.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So regardless, lovely.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Hopefully no one's eating at this moment, because that's.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Just a medical gross I mean it is, but I mean,
- 8:43Speaker 1: because of this though, it was assumed that he must
- 8:45Speaker 1: have been like a boxer or wrestler. That's kind of
- 8:47Speaker 1: what the hotel staff was assuming at the time because
- 8:49Speaker 1: it is kind of like a common thing scene like
- 8:51Speaker 1: we see if you watch the UFC ear and he
- 8:53Speaker 1: mixed Martial Arts, it's common for those guys to have
- 8:54Speaker 1: cauliflower ears. So they kind of assumed that was his
- 8:58Speaker 1: occupation or at least pastime.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Now, Randolph Props was working as a bell hop service
- 9:05Speaker 1: and he helped Roll into his room that night. When
- 9:06Speaker 1: he checked in, he carried no baggage with him, so
- 9:10Speaker 1: Randolph was empty handed and escorted him up to the
- 9:13Speaker 1: tenth floor where the room was. Randolph would have been
- 9:16Speaker 1: very professional and courteous as they made their way. The
- 9:18Speaker 1: hotel was a rather luxurious establishment and had a reputation
- 9:22Speaker 1: for being one of the finest hotels in the Midwest,
- 9:25Speaker 1: so he would have been quite quite courteous on the
- 9:28Speaker 1: way to the room. So as they walked, the two
- 9:31Speaker 1: of them struck up some conversation, some small talk, and
- 9:34Speaker 1: Roland mentioned that he had spent a previous night at
- 9:36Speaker 1: the nearby Malbeck Hotel but found he paid the rate
- 9:40Speaker 1: he paid for five dollars was rather expensive, so he
- 9:43Speaker 1: decided to go somewhere else, and that was equivalent of
- 9:45Speaker 1: about one hundred and ten dollars today.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Oh, Okay, I was wondering because I was like five bucks, yes, yeah, so,
- 9:53Speaker 2: but I just have to say to one hundred and
- 9:55Speaker 2: ten bucks today would not get you like a super
- 9:57Speaker 2: nice hotel.
- 9:58Speaker 1: No, it wouldn't. That just goes to show how how
- 10:00Speaker 1: inflation is.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, yeah.
- 10:03Speaker 1: At any rate, get it at any rate, at any rate.
- 10:07Speaker 1: The two men eventually made their way up to room
- 10:10Speaker 1: ten forty six that it was overlooking the inner courtyard
- 10:14Speaker 1: of the building. Now, apparently he was specifically requested to
- 10:16Speaker 1: be on the inner part of the hotel for whatever
- 10:18Speaker 1: his personal reasons.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I don't know, quieter, or maybe maybe it.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Could have been, you know, not wanting to be on
- 10:23Speaker 1: the outside with traffic, yeah people.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and because I've requested stuff like that before.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's just personal preference most likely.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So, as I said, Roland didn't seem to pack too much.
- 10:34Speaker 1: He actually didn't carry any luggage or any bags with him.
- 10:36Speaker 1: So when they reached the hotel and Randolph opened the
- 10:39Speaker 1: room and let rolland in, Roland reached into his overcoat
- 10:43Speaker 1: pocket and pulled out three items a brush, a comb,
- 10:47Speaker 1: and toothpaste.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I kind of love that, right, just
- 10:50Speaker 2: needing that little I.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Mean for someone staying in this hotel and regarding most
- 10:56Speaker 1: of the clientele, he sees it was a bit odd.
- 10:58Speaker 1: But he didn't really dwell on it. So after he
- 11:01Speaker 1: put these items in the room above the sink, the
- 11:03Speaker 1: two of them left the room, closed the door. Roland
- 11:06Speaker 1: locked the door and then handed him the key in
- 11:10Speaker 1: a way they went sorry, Randolph locked the door and
- 11:12Speaker 1: handed rolling.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Oh okay, okay, yeah, so Roland.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Now had the key. They returned to the lobby together
- 11:18Speaker 1: and the key now in Roland's pocket. He left the
- 11:20Speaker 1: hotel through the front doors. So it was a little
- 11:24Speaker 1: while later that evening, but one of the hotel room
- 11:26Speaker 1: cleaning staff was making the rounds. This woman's name was Mary.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Soap dick. Okay, not soap dick, soap tick.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Okay, Just for the record, it sounded like soap dick.
- 11:38Speaker 2: But I was just like not going to comment on that.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I decided in my head, no, you're good.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Sotic soap tick.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Okay, soap tick.
- 11:45Speaker 1: But with the key in there, yeah, soap tick, it
- 11:48Speaker 1: sounds sounds like.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Very much, especially the way you say yes.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I was listening to other people cover
- 11:53Speaker 1: this quite a bit, and like the BuzzFeed Unsolved network guys,
- 11:57Speaker 1: they covered this quite well. They shortened it a little bit,
- 12:00Speaker 1: they but they condensed like the main information and they
- 12:03Speaker 1: had a good laugh over soap diick, which I laughed
- 12:06Speaker 1: hilariously on her.
- 12:08Speaker 2: It wouldn't be the best last name to have ever.
- 12:10Speaker 1: No, but I did want to point out it's not
- 12:12Speaker 1: soap dick, it's soap tick, soap tick.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:17Speaker 1: So anyways, she was now on staff. She was a
- 12:20Speaker 1: cleaning lady, and she was making a ring way up
- 12:23Speaker 1: to the tenth floor and she made her way to
- 12:25Speaker 1: room ten forty six and found rolling inside when she
- 12:29Speaker 1: opened up. Now, she apologized for interrupting him in the
- 12:32Speaker 1: room and was about to leave, but he said, no, no,
- 12:34Speaker 1: it was no problem. She can go ahead and do
- 12:35Speaker 1: whatever it was that she came to do for her job.
- 12:38Speaker 1: So she did. She fixed, threw him up, and kind
- 12:41Speaker 1: of did some like the turnover stuff for like towels
- 12:43Speaker 1: or whatever she needed to do, did some cleaning as
- 12:45Speaker 1: per usual. But while she began cleaning, she noticed that
- 12:49Speaker 1: he had the shades and the windows drawn and he
- 12:52Speaker 1: left only one single lamp in the room to light it.
- 12:54Speaker 1: It was rather dim in there. After a few minutes
- 12:57Speaker 1: pass since she began cleaning, Roland put his overcoat and
- 13:02Speaker 1: put on his overcoat and brush his hair and then left.
- 13:04Speaker 1: But before he did He asked Mary that when she
- 13:06Speaker 1: leaves the room, to leave it unlocked when she was finished.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Apparently he was expecting some friends soon. Oh okay, So
- 13:15Speaker 1: where's your head at. What are your thoughts on Roland
- 13:18Speaker 1: so far?
- 13:21Speaker 2: You know, my main thought right now, it's just I
- 13:23Speaker 2: think it's just because I listen and research too much
- 13:26Speaker 2: to a crime. But I'm just like the hotel cleaners
- 13:31Speaker 2: that come around and clean the rooms, like that seems unsafe. Hey,
- 13:36Speaker 2: her going into his room by herself and stuff, that
- 13:40Speaker 2: was literally where my mind was. I was like, oh
- 13:41Speaker 2: my gosh, that's scary for her. Not that I thought
- 13:43Speaker 2: anything would happen, but I was just like, there's a
- 13:46Speaker 2: lot of jobs though today that can put you in situations.
- 13:48Speaker 1: That's true. And I think like nowadays with rooms too,
- 13:52Speaker 1: they have identification of people and they have like credit
- 13:56Speaker 1: card numbers, so if anything were to happen, it's like
- 13:58Speaker 1: they can track them down.
- 13:59Speaker 2: That's true. But back then, I feel like shit could
- 14:02Speaker 2: go astray.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I don't like Roland didn't even give his address, so
- 14:05Speaker 1: there's no way of tracking down.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I mean, he's very mysterious. I have no idea I
- 14:11Speaker 2: was when I first when you first said she was
- 14:13Speaker 2: going in the room. I almost was thinking maybe he
- 14:16Speaker 2: would have he was dead. So I don't know. I
- 14:19Speaker 2: actually I don't. It's too early on for me to
- 14:22Speaker 2: be predicting.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to tell you now that we go
- 14:25Speaker 1: through quite a bit of information before the incident actually occurs. Okay,
- 14:30Speaker 1: So there's a lot leading up to what happens.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Okay. So at this point I can't. I can't predict nothing.
- 14:37Speaker 1: You can't predict nothing.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yet, I can't predict anything.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Well, Mary wasn't able to predict anything either, and she
- 14:44Speaker 1: was happy to oblige and continued her work. And she
- 14:47Speaker 1: did as she asked when she was finished a little
- 14:48Speaker 1: bit later on, and left his room and left it unlocked. Okay, Now,
- 14:52Speaker 1: at four pm, she returned to his room with fresh towels,
- 14:56Speaker 1: you know, because when she's cleaning earlier, she took out
- 14:57Speaker 1: the dirty ones, coming back with fresh ones later.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Okay, yeap.
- 15:02Speaker 1: So when she opened the door because it was unlocked,
- 15:05Speaker 1: she saw Roland laying in the bed, fully dressed, in
- 15:08Speaker 1: the dark, with the door unlocked.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Mind you, Oh my gosh, she needs to leave him alone.
- 15:14Speaker 2: He needs some time here.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Well, he was wide awake, just staring off into the dark,
- 15:20Speaker 1: and I'm sure he would have looked her at her
- 15:21Speaker 1: when she entered.
- 15:22Speaker 2: See, I feel like he needs someone to talk to her,
- 15:24Speaker 2: some help.
- 15:24Speaker 1: But well, he was clearly expecting someone because she also
- 15:29Speaker 1: saw a note sitting on the bedside table next to him. Now,
- 15:33Speaker 1: mind you, it was in the dark, but when she
- 15:34Speaker 1: opened the door, light was spilling in from the hallway
- 15:36Speaker 1: behind her right, and she was able to read this
- 15:39Speaker 1: note clearly written and it said, quote Dawn, I will
- 15:43Speaker 1: be back in fifteen minutes. Wait, huh, Okay, So I'm
- 15:48Speaker 1: assuming this note was probably on the outside of the
- 15:51Speaker 1: door at one point and he took it off when
- 15:52Speaker 1: he returned and just kind of set it down. So
- 15:55Speaker 1: either way, he was clearly expecting someone by the name
- 15:58Speaker 1: of Dawn.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Yes, totally.
- 16:01Speaker 1: So this man clearly was acting strange and Mary didn't
- 16:03Speaker 1: know exactly what to make of it. She also made
- 16:06Speaker 1: some statements later on regarding this case, and she said
- 16:09Speaker 1: this quote he always wanted to kind of keep in
- 16:13Speaker 1: the dark. And she also said quote he was either
- 16:17Speaker 1: worried about something or afraid.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I'm going to say more so worried.
- 16:23Speaker 1: You think worried because if he.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Was afraid and shit, Like, he probably wouldn't just be
- 16:26Speaker 2: laying on the bed with the door unlocked and stuff.
- 16:29Speaker 1: If he was afraid, why would the door be unlocked.
- 16:31Speaker 1: That's a big question.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Well, yeah, like it wouldn't be unlocked.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Yeah, So why did you say you don't think he's afraid.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I think he's more worried. Okay, Oh did I get
- 16:40Speaker 2: that backwards?
- 16:41Speaker 1: Or maybe I got it back I don't know.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I think he's more worried rather.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Than afraid, Okay, worried about what though?
- 16:47Speaker 2: I think he's stressed about something. I think his mental
- 16:49Speaker 2: health is in the gutter. Okay, that's my guess.
- 16:53Speaker 1: That's a respectable answer. Well. The next day, on January third,
- 16:58Speaker 1: Mary returned to his room at about ten thirty am,
- 17:01Speaker 1: room of course, number ten forty six. This time, the
- 17:05Speaker 1: door was locked from the outside, which must have meant
- 17:08Speaker 1: that the man had left his room, right, Roland was
- 17:10Speaker 1: gone because I left and locked it from the outside. Okay,
- 17:13Speaker 1: But when she opened up the door to go inside,
- 17:16Speaker 1: it was in there. Clean You think he was in there?
- 17:20Speaker 2: Shit, I don't know.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Roland was in the exact same spot, wearing the exact
- 17:24Speaker 1: same clothes, with the lights out on the bed.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Wide awake, awake, still hold wait shit, but the door
- 17:31Speaker 2: was locked from the outside. Okay, this is really fucked up.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I also be like, if I was in this room,
- 17:38Speaker 2: I wouldn't want to be disturbed this much. We're the
- 17:40Speaker 2: kind of people that go into a hotel and leave
- 17:42Speaker 2: are like, do not disturbed, tag on and the whole time,
- 17:45Speaker 2: the whole time, it's like, we don't need our room,
- 17:46Speaker 2: like done anything to it. We're good.
- 17:48Speaker 1: No, if we need some new towels, we'll just call
- 17:50Speaker 1: the front desk. You we'll come down and grab them.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Like so at this trying to be like, excuse me,
- 17:54Speaker 2: can you just like fuck, We're fine, politely fuck off please,
- 18:00Speaker 2: But I mean, this man seems like he needs to
- 18:01Speaker 2: be checked on.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Well, I mean she is checking on the room at least,
- 18:05Speaker 1: so she's getting some of this information, which is good.
- 18:08Speaker 1: So when she came in the room and saw him
- 18:10Speaker 1: sitting there, he did allow her to come in and
- 18:12Speaker 1: clean up again as before. And while she began cleaning,
- 18:16Speaker 1: she watched as the phone rang. Okay, so Roland answered
- 18:21Speaker 1: the phone and this is what he said. No, Dawn,
- 18:25Speaker 1: I don't want to eat. I'm not hungry. I just
- 18:27Speaker 1: had breakfast. No, I'm not hungry now. After that, he
- 18:33Speaker 1: didn't say anything else, but he didn't hang up the phone.
- 18:36Speaker 1: He held on to it and proceeded to talk to
- 18:39Speaker 1: Mary about her job as she cleaned, and soon she
- 18:42Speaker 1: finished up and left Now again. At four pm, Mary
- 18:46Speaker 1: returned to the room good God, again with fresh towels.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Because this is the process. They go there, they clean,
- 18:51Speaker 1: the remove stuff. Later they do the realms with fresh towels.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Right, yeah, I mean, yeah, she's doing a good job.
- 18:56Speaker 2: She's doing her job.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Yeah, she's being very diligent getting it done, doing her
- 18:59Speaker 1: thing thing, Mary Rocks. That's all I gotta say. So
- 19:03Speaker 1: when she arrived, she could hear two men in the room,
- 19:06Speaker 1: so she knocked politely before she entered. Now a voice
- 19:10Speaker 1: responded by asking who's there. The voice was loud and
- 19:14Speaker 1: deep and it didn't belong to Roland. Okay, She stated
- 19:17Speaker 1: it was room service with fresh towels, and the man responded,
- 19:22Speaker 1: we don't need.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Any Oh, I wouldn't even let her in, yeah.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Which clearly wasn't true because she removed the dirty towels
- 19:28Speaker 1: earlier in the day, so she knows they have no towels.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Right, right, and Roland was always great about having her
- 19:34Speaker 2: come and do her job.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yep. So that night, as it rolled on, was a
- 19:40Speaker 1: rather unusual one. Another hotel patron by the name of
- 19:46Speaker 1: Gene Owen was checked into room ten forty eight. Now
- 19:50Speaker 1: for clarification, the last name Roland t Owen and Gene
- 19:55Speaker 1: Owen have no correlation to each.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Okay, it's funny. I was almost going to be like Ben,
- 19:59Speaker 2: that's the same last name, is that, right?
- 20:01Speaker 1: I need to clarify now before you guys start going
- 20:03Speaker 1: down that path. Once the events that were leading up
- 20:07Speaker 1: to occurs. They talked to Gene. She has a very
- 20:10Speaker 1: solid alibi and she has no relation.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Okay, okay, thanks for clarifying that. I mean if I
- 20:16Speaker 2: was wondering, and I'm sure a lot of people were
- 20:18Speaker 2: so well.
- 20:19Speaker 1: She reported that she heard men and women talking very
- 20:22Speaker 1: loudly and profanely all over the floor that night, and
- 20:26Speaker 1: an elevator operator named Charles Bloacher also reported more than
- 20:31Speaker 1: normal activity. He began his shift at about midnight and
- 20:35Speaker 1: reported he was fairly busy until about one thirty am,
- 20:39Speaker 1: and that there was a large party occurring in room
- 20:42Speaker 1: ten fifty five.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Okay, sorry, what room was rolling in ten fifty six,
- 20:48Speaker 2: ten forty six, ten forty six, okay, yeah, and.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Ten fifty five was hosting this rather large, obnoxious party.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:56Speaker 1: So now Charles doesn't remember one particular individual who he
- 21:00Speaker 1: saw or sorry, he does remember one particular individual who
- 21:03Speaker 1: he saw on multiple occasions that night, because remember, he's
- 21:06Speaker 1: operating the elevator, so he's standing in the elevator bringing
- 21:08Speaker 1: it up and down, letting people to and from.
- 21:11Speaker 2: That would be a fucking interesting job.
- 21:13Speaker 1: It would be. I feel like I can only imagine
- 21:15Speaker 1: the individuals you would have conversation with. Yeah, and especially
- 21:18Speaker 1: on a night like this when people are drinking the
- 21:21Speaker 1: shit people are freely gonna tell.
- 21:22Speaker 2: You because I'm kind of one of those people I
- 21:25Speaker 2: don't love like repetition for jobs and stuff like repetitive jobs,
- 21:29Speaker 2: and that would be one. But I'm like, that would
- 21:31Speaker 2: be freaking interesting. I could do that job. I think
- 21:36Speaker 2: that'd be dope.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I think that might be one of the worst jobs
- 21:40Speaker 1: as far as repetition goes.
- 21:42Speaker 2: It would, but then you're also having new people in there,
- 21:44Speaker 2: and it could get really interesting because sometimes I feel
- 21:47Speaker 2: like the conversations or the way people act in elevators
- 21:50Speaker 2: is really odd.
- 21:51Speaker 1: But I think that would get old really fast.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Oh okay, because that's true, I'm.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Gonna put it from my perspective. I did a very
- 21:57Speaker 1: repetition based job for the last like fifteen years.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:02Speaker 1: The best thing to make time go by is when
- 22:04Speaker 1: you flick into autopilot and your mind is somewhere else.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Oh and you wouldn't really be able to do that
- 22:10Speaker 2: there because you're having to make small talk with everyone exactly.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And I think that would make time go by bye
- 22:15Speaker 1: very slowly.
- 22:16Speaker 2: But if you're a social individual, not saying that you're not,
- 22:19Speaker 2: but if you are, like I feel like you could
- 22:21Speaker 2: kind of really chat and kind of get to know
- 22:23Speaker 2: with people and the short time they're in there. But yeah,
- 22:25Speaker 2: even the small talk would probably get pretty repetitive too.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I can only imagine how many people in a
- 22:32Speaker 1: single day. You're saying, the weather shitty today, isn't it?
- 22:35Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 22:36Speaker 1: Raining, it's been raining for the last four days. When's
- 22:38Speaker 1: it going to ever end?
- 22:39Speaker 2: It's sure cold out there exactly.
- 22:41Speaker 1: So I mean, mind you, like you say, there's some
- 22:44Speaker 1: people that might suit. Some people that are a little
- 22:46Speaker 1: more conversational or outgoing might be a lot right up
- 22:49Speaker 1: their alley sort of thing. But I could see that
- 22:52Speaker 1: getting old quick.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fair, so who's to say.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Anyways, the individual he did recognize was a woman, and
- 23:01Speaker 1: she'd been at the hotel times before as well, and
- 23:04Speaker 1: was assumed to be a sex worker. Now, she came
- 23:07Speaker 1: in sometime around one am. Now, I did also find
- 23:10Speaker 1: varying time frames on when she came in. Most said
- 23:14Speaker 1: around like midnight to two, midnight to three or so,
- 23:18Speaker 1: So I kind of I'm not saying it was one am.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I'm kind of just landing somewhere in the middle and
- 23:23Speaker 1: saying one am late in the night exactly, or early
- 23:27Speaker 1: in the morning. Yeah, And she started by going to
- 23:30Speaker 1: room ten twenty six, not ten to forty six, okay,
- 23:34Speaker 1: But she started with ten twenty six, and then she
- 23:36Speaker 1: was back at the elevator five minutes later as no
- 23:38Speaker 1: one was at the room, not because the service was that.
- 23:41Speaker 2: I was like five mites.
- 23:44Speaker 1: She's good at her fucking job, okay, But yeah, she
- 23:48Speaker 1: went to ten twenty six, return five minutes later. No
- 23:51Speaker 1: one answered the door when she knocked, and then she
- 23:53Speaker 1: would visit ten forty six Roland's room, okay, and then
- 23:57Speaker 1: from there she would go over to ten twenty four
- 24:01Speaker 1: and then down to the ninth floor to visit some
- 24:03Speaker 1: more rooms, and back to the tenth floor, presumably to
- 24:06Speaker 1: ten twenty six again, but she visited a variety of
- 24:09Speaker 1: rooms that night. At any rate, the amount of rooms
- 24:12Speaker 1: or individuals more than likely she visited is unknown. What
- 24:18Speaker 1: we do know is it was multiple rooms, and Room
- 24:21Speaker 1: ten forty six was on that list.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Was one of them on the list? Okay?
- 24:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Then at four fifteen am, the woman made her
- 24:29Speaker 1: way to the lobby and left for the night. A
- 24:32Speaker 1: few hours later in the morning on January fourth, at
- 24:35Speaker 1: about seven am, a new switchboard operator, Della Ferguson, made
- 24:39Speaker 1: her way into work. One of the first things was
- 24:42Speaker 1: for her to do on her job was to proceed
- 24:44Speaker 1: through a list of wake up calls, one of which
- 24:47Speaker 1: being Room ten forty six. Okay, and these wake up
- 24:50Speaker 1: calls that she was calling, especially ten forty six anyways
- 24:53Speaker 1: worse seven am. Sure others were later, but Rowlands was
- 24:58Speaker 1: seven am. So when she tried to get up to
- 25:01Speaker 1: his room via the phone, she couldn't complete the call.
- 25:06Speaker 1: His room's phone was off the hook.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Oh okay, yep, So she.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Got into the switchboard, realized his phone was off the hook.
- 25:12Speaker 1: She couldn't even attempt to make the call, so she
- 25:14Speaker 1: enlisted the help of Randolph, the same bell hop who
- 25:17Speaker 1: assisted Roll into his room a couple nights prior, who
- 25:19Speaker 1: was at work, to head up to his room and
- 25:22Speaker 1: complete the wake up call and inform him he needs
- 25:24Speaker 1: to put the phone back on the hook. So he
- 25:27Speaker 1: made his way up to room ten forty six. The
- 25:29Speaker 1: door was locked with a do not disturb sign hanging
- 25:32Speaker 1: from the doorknob. He ignored the sign to pursue the
- 25:35Speaker 1: wake up call. Right he began knocking loudly on the
- 25:38Speaker 1: door and a voice from inside told him to come in,
- 25:41Speaker 1: but of course he couldn't. The door was locked, so
- 25:43Speaker 1: he knocked again. The same voice spoke yet again and
- 25:48Speaker 1: told him come in and turn on the lights.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Ah, I wouldn't want to go in, No, ho'll come?
- 25:56Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, I guess he wouldn't. He
- 25:58Speaker 2: doesn't know all this backstory.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, but again, no one was unlocking the door.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah, he can't get in.
- 26:05Speaker 1: He can't get in, So even if he didn't want to,
- 26:08Speaker 1: he was stuck, couldn't go it.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Beyond you would think he would have a key of Swortsvill.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Well, they do, he just didn't bring it up, right, Oh, okay,
- 26:16Speaker 1: So finally Randolph shouted through the door to complete the
- 26:19Speaker 1: wake up call and inform him that he needs to
- 26:21Speaker 1: hang up the phone back in the receiver, and then
- 26:23Speaker 1: he left walked back down the hallway towards the lobby.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Okay.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Randolph figured he was most likely drunk or hungover from
- 26:31Speaker 1: the party on the tenth floor the night prior, probably
- 26:34Speaker 1: as many guests in that or on that floor in
- 26:37Speaker 1: the hotel were less than a functional state this morning.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Right, that is a good assumption.
- 26:42Speaker 1: So at ten thirty am, the phone in room ten
- 26:46Speaker 1: forty six was still off the hook. This time another
- 26:50Speaker 1: bell boy by the name of Harold Pike was sent
- 26:53Speaker 1: to the tenth floor. The room was ten forty six
- 26:58Speaker 1: and there was still a do not disturb sign and
- 27:01Speaker 1: the door still locked, still locked, But this time Harold
- 27:05Speaker 1: held that room key, so he fitted into the door
- 27:08Speaker 1: lock and let himself in. Inside the room, as always,
- 27:12Speaker 1: the lights were off on the bed. He saw Roland
- 27:14Speaker 1: laying there in the dark, reportedly drunk and naked. Oh wow,
- 27:19Speaker 1: there were dark spots surrounding him on the bed in
- 27:21Speaker 1: a dimly lit room which Harold could only assume was
- 27:23Speaker 1: spilt drinks from having too much fun the night prior.
- 27:27Speaker 1: He decided decided to leave Roland b and not disturb
- 27:30Speaker 1: him clearly, as he was in rough shape from the
- 27:32Speaker 1: night before. So he saw the phone laying there off
- 27:36Speaker 1: the hook and hung it up quickly by putting it
- 27:39Speaker 1: back in the receiver and left the room.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I don't feel like he is drunk. No,
- 27:44Speaker 2: what do you feel like he Maybe he's hurt or something.
- 27:47Speaker 1: You think so well. This wasn't the end of their
- 27:50Speaker 1: visits to room ten forty six. It wasn't long after
- 27:54Speaker 1: that they would be notified by the operator at the.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Phone in the room off the hook again.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Was once again off the hook.
- 28:01Speaker 2: See he's using this phone for help.
- 28:04Speaker 1: It was about ten thirty am. Randolph was once again
- 28:07Speaker 1: making his way up to the room. On his arrival,
- 28:10Speaker 1: he was once again greeted by the do not disturb
- 28:12Speaker 1: sign and a locked door. He knocked and heard no response.
- 28:18Speaker 1: He brought up the key, so he thought, Hey, I'm
- 28:20Speaker 1: gonna let myself in and I'm gonna put the phone
- 28:22Speaker 1: back in the hook and anyway we go. So he
- 28:25Speaker 1: let himself into the room, and when he opened the door,
- 28:28Speaker 1: he was greeted with a sight he wasn't expecting. Shit
- 28:30Speaker 1: what Roland was only about two feet away from the
- 28:34Speaker 1: door on his knees and elbows, and he was grasping
- 28:37Speaker 1: his head covered in blood.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, he.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Definitely was trying to get someone's attention.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Yes, he needed fucking help.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Randolph quickly turned on the lights to see if his
- 28:50Speaker 1: eyes were playing tricks on him, and that's when he
- 28:52Speaker 1: noticed there was blood on the bed, blood on the
- 28:55Speaker 1: walls the bathroom and the hotel room.
- 28:58Speaker 2: So that dark spot's on the bed was actually probably blood,
- 29:01Speaker 2: not spilled drinks.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Then correct, it was blood on the bed, so understandably,
- 29:06Speaker 1: he quickly ran downstairs for help and returned with the
- 29:09Speaker 1: hotel's assistant manager. However, as they went open the door again,
- 29:13Speaker 1: this time, Roland had slumped over and was blocking the door.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Oh no, they.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Could only get it open about six inches.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Holy shit.
- 29:23Speaker 1: After a few moments of trying to communicate with them
- 29:26Speaker 1: and getting him to move, Roland eventually was able to
- 29:29Speaker 1: stand to his feet and moved to sit on the
- 29:31Speaker 1: edge of the bathtub nearby. Allowing them to open the
- 29:34Speaker 1: door and enter. Okay, Using the phone in the room,
- 29:37Speaker 1: the assistant manager phoned the police and they were joined
- 29:40Speaker 1: by a medical professional when they arrived. And that medical
- 29:43Speaker 1: professional was doctor Harold Flanders of Kansas City General Hostel.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Harold Flanders.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Harold Flanders. There we go, Yeah, diddally, just throwing that
- 29:53Speaker 1: out because Simpsons fans know.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Anyways, the scene they arrived to was startling. As I mentioned,
- 30:01Speaker 1: the room was splattered with blood on the walls, the ceiling,
- 30:05Speaker 1: the bed, you name it.
- 30:07Speaker 2: This couldn't all have been his own blood either. Could
- 30:10Speaker 2: it have been and him still be alive?
- 30:14Speaker 1: There's no other blood splattered as far as I have
- 30:17Speaker 1: been aware of. Okay, it is his blood.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Goodness.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Roland's head was covered in blood, and it was clear
- 30:26Speaker 1: that he had been strangled with the cord as his
- 30:28Speaker 1: neck was bruised and the cord was still wrapped around
- 30:31Speaker 1: his neck.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Holy shit.
- 30:33Speaker 1: He also had cordage binding his wrists and binding his ankles.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. They probably whoever did this to him laughed,
- 30:40Speaker 2: probably thinking he was dead.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Oh definitely yeah, Because he also had multiple stab wounds
- 30:45Speaker 1: in his chests ah above his heart, and one of
- 30:48Speaker 1: the wounds was deep enough to puncture his lung.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Holy hack, and the stab wounds.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Weren't the only cause of the blood either that covered
- 30:55Speaker 1: the room. It was clear he had taken multiple blows
- 30:58Speaker 1: to the head, which left him when a skull fracture
- 31:01Speaker 1: on the right side.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Okay, the fact that this man is still alive is
- 31:05Speaker 2: a miracle, is it not.
- 31:06Speaker 1: He had been beaten, stabbed, and strangled.
- 31:10Speaker 2: You had the shit beaten out of him?
- 31:12Speaker 1: Yes? Oh?
- 31:15Speaker 2: Oh, the doggles can hear stuff outside.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I think they're good. Okay, maybe they're just upset with
- 31:22Speaker 1: all the shit that Roland went through.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Yeah, they're reacting too. This is whooa.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean what he must have been feeling though, Like,
- 31:30Speaker 1: think about it, he would have been feeling this for
- 31:33Speaker 1: some time. When his wake up call was scheduled for
- 31:35Speaker 1: seven am and the bellahawk knocked on that door, Roland
- 31:38Speaker 1: responded by saying come in, but did not answer the
- 31:41Speaker 1: door himself.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Yeah, so he needed help in there. But he could
- 31:44Speaker 2: have just said help.
- 31:46Speaker 1: But he didn't. But he didn't answer the door. He
- 31:49Speaker 1: was probably most likely bound at this time.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Oh, like, there could have still been somebody in there.
- 31:56Speaker 1: There could have been Oh my god, but he clearly
- 32:00Speaker 1: is at least being inflicted or have already been inflicted
- 32:03Speaker 1: with these injuries at this time at seven.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Am, right, so, and then they came up against sorry
- 32:09Speaker 2: to interrupt, at like ten thirty.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Or forty or something was seven, eight thirty and ten thirty.
- 32:14Speaker 1: It would have been three more hours basically before it
- 32:17Speaker 1: would be identified.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Wow.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Help, Wow, So at any rate, doctor Flanders cut the
- 32:24Speaker 1: chords from Roland and asked him who had done this
- 32:26Speaker 1: to him. M Roland's response.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Nobody, nobody, this man, this man is very I don't
- 32:35Speaker 2: know any other word other than mysterious.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Hey, yeah, yeah, that's a very good word for this.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:43Speaker 1: The doctor was just as confused as you are, though,
- 32:45Speaker 1: because like, clearly this didn't happen just on its own,
- 32:49Speaker 1: Like if nobody inflicted these injuries to him.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Then who Yeah, he wouldn't be doing this to himself.
- 32:55Speaker 1: So rightfully, so the doctor asked next, well, what was
- 32:57Speaker 1: the cause of your injuries and simply said he had
- 33:01Speaker 1: fallen and hit his head on the bathtub.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Wow, and a cord just miraculously went around his neck
- 33:10Speaker 2: and all this.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Other shit suddenly just appeared.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Wow, okay, that is you can't use that one for this.
- 33:16Speaker 1: No, it was clearly a fabricator store. Yeah. The doctor
- 33:19Speaker 1: knew something was up, and he thought, well, maybe some
- 33:21Speaker 1: of these, if not all, were self inflicted. So he
- 33:25Speaker 1: asked Roland if he tried to take his own life,
- 33:27Speaker 1: and Roland spoke one word in.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Reply, no, no, okay.
- 33:32Speaker 1: And right after that he lost consciousness.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, please did he die? Did he die?
- 33:37Speaker 1: Well? He was quickly rushed to hospital, and shortly after
- 33:41Speaker 1: he had arrived, he succumbed to his enter and he
- 33:43Speaker 1: passed away after midnight on January fifth.
- 33:46Speaker 2: See. I don't freaking know why, but I have a
- 33:49Speaker 2: soft ass spot for Roland, you do. I do not
- 33:53Speaker 2: know why this guy could be super sketch and super
- 33:55Speaker 2: bad dude, but for some reason, I like am over
- 33:59Speaker 2: here rooting for him, and I'm like probably going to
- 34:01Speaker 2: regret that right as shit comes out.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Well we'll let you decide that, okay. So via his
- 34:08Speaker 1: injuries and the blood spatter patterns in the room, doctor
- 34:11Speaker 1: Flander estimated that his injuries were sustained some time between
- 34:16Speaker 1: four and five am, okay, which is another two hours
- 34:20Speaker 1: even before his first wake up.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Call right, he sure lasted a long time like he did.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Survived a long time with those those kind of injuries.
- 34:30Speaker 2: It's quite impressive.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And imagine would he possibly have survived if it was
- 34:34Speaker 1: discovered at seven am rather than ten thirty.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Well, not necessarily though that was so long ago too,
- 34:41Speaker 2: like they didn't have really maybe the medical care that
- 34:43Speaker 2: we would have today.
- 34:44Speaker 1: That's true, but it's hard to say. Regardless, though, detectives
- 34:48Speaker 1: searched room ten forty six and found very little. They
- 34:52Speaker 1: found his three personal belongings that we discussed at the beginning,
- 34:55Speaker 1: tag for a necktie that was made by the New
- 34:58Speaker 1: Jersey company. And they also know did that the shampoo, soap,
- 35:01Speaker 1: and towels were all missing from the room.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Now we knew the towels were missing, right kind.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Of, I couldn't clarify if the towels were replaced or
- 35:10Speaker 1: if they had just never been replaced once that incident occurred.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Of yeah, we don't need.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Any towels, Oh okay.
- 35:17Speaker 1: So I'm unsure if the towels the towel situation, but
- 35:21Speaker 1: the shampoo and soap were missing.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Yeah where did Mary go? Hey? I feel like she
- 35:26Speaker 2: was just there for that one that was her name, right, Mary, Yeah,
- 35:29Speaker 2: just there for like that one day.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Kind of No, she did her job the two days
- 35:33Speaker 1: and now this morning of the wake up calls is
- 35:35Speaker 1: when they found him. Okay, so she would have then
- 35:38Speaker 1: been going to do a job here soon, right, So
- 35:41Speaker 1: you're just trying to throw he runder the fucking bus.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Mary sucks at her.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I was just like, where did Mary go? I like
- 35:46Speaker 2: to marry?
- 35:47Speaker 1: You have trying to throw her under the bus.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Mary's cool.
- 35:50Speaker 1: We said she did her job for like one day.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Okay, maybe that came out so wrong. I meant like,
- 35:56Speaker 2: where the hell did marry? Like, Okay, I'm just gonna
- 35:58Speaker 2: stop talking. I do like Mary. Mary did really good,
- 36:01Speaker 2: but I was just kind of wondering where she was
- 36:03Speaker 2: this day.
- 36:03Speaker 1: You're a Mary hater, aren't you?
- 36:05Speaker 2: I actually really like Mary?
- 36:06Speaker 1: Is it because your name sounds like dick?
- 36:08Speaker 2: Well? She needs some props to her, Like, she probably
- 36:11Speaker 2: didn't have it easy all the time with that kind
- 36:13Speaker 2: of last name, right.
- 36:14Speaker 1: And I can't imagine that like a room service job
- 36:17Speaker 1: in any sort of capacity would be an easy job either.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I imagine that you're probably dealing with unrually guests on a
- 36:21Speaker 1: frequent basis.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Yeah, where are my towels?
- 36:24Speaker 1: I need more soap like this.
- 36:26Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel like people have gotten more
- 36:28Speaker 2: assholely as time has gone on. Maybe they weren't as
- 36:32Speaker 2: bad that then, assholy assholy like. I don't know. I
- 36:36Speaker 2: just think people's expectations and stuff have gone As time
- 36:39Speaker 2: goes on, they get higher and higher, and sometimes people
- 36:41Speaker 2: become rude er and ruder? Yeah, should I not be
- 36:44Speaker 2: saying that on here? That's my opinion. Now.
- 36:46Speaker 1: It does seem like as the years progress, people seem
- 36:48Speaker 1: to get more and more ignorant. But it's it's hard
- 36:50Speaker 1: to fully assess, especially when you're looking back at a
- 36:53Speaker 1: year like this.
- 36:53Speaker 2: I wasn't there then, I have no idea.
- 36:56Speaker 1: But we digress back to this. The fact that they
- 36:58Speaker 1: didn't actually find much in the room room didn't give them,
- 37:02Speaker 1: of course, any leads to go with either. However, it
- 37:05Speaker 1: also gave them reason to rule out a lot too,
- 37:08Speaker 1: because there wasn't much in the room. For example, suicide,
- 37:11Speaker 1: there was no knife in the room and Rowland was stabbed.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Oh okay, yeah.
- 37:16Speaker 1: So someone else must have been present to at least
- 37:20Speaker 1: remove the knife.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Yeah, because if he did that to himself it would
- 37:23Speaker 2: still be there.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Yes. Now, there are also reports of four small fingerprints
- 37:29Speaker 1: found on the room's phone, which couldn't be matched to
- 37:32Speaker 1: Roland or any of the hotel employees who'd been known
- 37:34Speaker 1: to enter that room. It's thought that via the size
- 37:37Speaker 1: of these fingerprints being smaller, that it's most likely a
- 37:40Speaker 1: woman or female of the sorts. Okay, but I mean
- 37:44Speaker 1: this is also a hotel. What if they just didn't
- 37:46Speaker 1: wipe the room the phone down.
- 37:48Speaker 2: The last week or something, Yeah, which could very well
- 37:51Speaker 2: be the case.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Yeah, So I mean, I don't know if I would
- 37:55Speaker 1: say that the fingerprints on their phone are very much
- 37:57Speaker 1: of anything personally. So the story, of course was blowing
- 38:03Speaker 1: people's minds, and it was published in local papers on
- 38:05Speaker 1: the front page. As a police tried to reach out
- 38:09Speaker 1: to the public for assistance, and Detective Johnson told reporters, quote,
- 38:14Speaker 1: there is no doubt that someone else is mixed up
- 38:17Speaker 1: in this, which I mean, we kind of already clarified,
- 38:20Speaker 1: but we clarified via their facts anyway. So the police
- 38:25Speaker 1: sought help through the press. Both the city's evening newspapers
- 38:29Speaker 1: carried the story on their front pages. Now, after police
- 38:33Speaker 1: began investigating Roland's death, it quickly became apparent that his
- 38:38Speaker 1: name was most likely an alias.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Really yes, as.
- 38:42Speaker 1: They couldn't find any records of him when they're wanting
- 38:45Speaker 1: to notify any sort of family or next to ken Okay.
- 38:48Speaker 1: In the coming weeks, police followed many false leads given
- 38:51Speaker 1: on Roland's real identity, and all their trails went cold
- 38:54Speaker 1: and none of them proved to be real.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Dang.
- 38:57Speaker 1: March third rolled around and a funeral was being set
- 39:00Speaker 1: to lay the mysterious man to rest. So they announced
- 39:03Speaker 1: in the paper in a column that is burial was
- 39:06Speaker 1: going to occur, and it mentioned that he'd be laid
- 39:08Speaker 1: to rest in the city's Potter's Field. Now, the Potter's
- 39:11Speaker 1: field is a place where they lay to rest unidentified persons, Okay.
- 39:16Speaker 1: I looked up a little historical thing on that, and
- 39:18Speaker 1: I guess a potter's field is where they originally would
- 39:21Speaker 1: be like digging up clay and stuff. But how that
- 39:24Speaker 1: relates to unidentified people, I'm not exactly sure. But Potter's
- 39:28Speaker 1: field is unidentified persons are basically that's sad.
- 39:32Speaker 2: It's kind of sad. So he's probably gonna be laid
- 39:34Speaker 2: to rest all alone.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, And that's what people are reading in the column,
- 39:39Speaker 1: And someone somewhere out there read that and decided to
- 39:44Speaker 1: put that plan quickly to a halt.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Okay, decided to attend the burial.
- 39:49Speaker 1: No, not to attend the burial. They decided, he's not
- 39:53Speaker 1: going into a potter's field.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Oh really.
- 39:56Speaker 1: The very same day that column went out into the newspaper,
- 39:59Speaker 1: they a man from a call from a man who
- 40:02Speaker 1: requested the funeral be delayed. The man wanted to send
- 40:05Speaker 1: money to be given to them to use his for
- 40:08Speaker 1: service and for his burial at Memorial Park in Kansas City,
- 40:13Speaker 1: because this way he could be laid near his sister.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Oh, somebody knew what The funeral director, just like you,
- 40:22Speaker 2: is speechless. Okay.
- 40:25Speaker 1: After a moment on the phone, he said like, look,
- 40:29Speaker 1: I've got to be reporting this to the police. I
- 40:31Speaker 1: can definitely do what you're asking, but just so you know,
- 40:33Speaker 1: this conversation is going to the police. I can't not
- 40:36Speaker 1: say anything right right, And that didn't bother the man
- 40:39Speaker 1: on the phone in the slightest In fact, when the
- 40:41Speaker 1: funeral director pressed and asked about his death, the man
- 40:44Speaker 1: on the other end of the phone said Roland had
- 40:47Speaker 1: an affair with two women while engaged with another and
- 40:50Speaker 1: the two women got their revenge.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Ah.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Then just before the man hang up, hung up, Sorry,
- 40:58Speaker 1: he said, quote, cheat usually get what's coming to them.
- 41:02Speaker 1: That's true, That's very true. It's true.
- 41:06Speaker 2: So but I'm still like, come on, kind of liked Roland.
- 41:09Speaker 2: What the fuck? I don't like that?
- 41:11Speaker 1: Well, of course, no one does like any sort of
- 41:13Speaker 1: cheater in that capacity for sure. But who is this
- 41:16Speaker 1: man is a big question, and what does he know?
- 41:19Speaker 1: So regardless of who this man was or whatever, they thought, Okay, well,
- 41:23Speaker 1: let's see if this is going to play out as
- 41:25Speaker 1: a man says. So they listened, they postponed the service,
- 41:28Speaker 1: and twenty days later, on March twenty third, they received
- 41:31Speaker 1: an envelope containing twenty five dollars, which is about five
- 41:35Speaker 1: hundred and fifty dollars today, which was enough to cover
- 41:37Speaker 1: the service and putting him in the other grave. Okay,
- 41:41Speaker 1: now there are also two additional envelopes containing five dollars
- 41:44Speaker 1: each sent to a local floorist for arrangement of thirteen
- 41:47Speaker 1: roses to be laid on his grave. Wow, with a
- 41:50Speaker 1: note that said love Forever Louise.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Oh wow wow. But also thirteen flowers cost the same
- 41:59Speaker 2: as an overnight hote telling a fancy ass place. Maybe
- 42:02Speaker 2: it was a tip, maybe who knows, but uh yeah,
- 42:08Speaker 2: who's Louise?
- 42:09Speaker 1: The plot thickens well, rightfully, So police watched the grave
- 42:16Speaker 1: like a hawk in the coming days after his burial.
- 42:18Speaker 1: They even went as far as being posing his undercover
- 42:22Speaker 1: grave diggers in the cemetery to see if they could
- 42:24Speaker 1: find anyone to come and visit the grave.
- 42:26Speaker 2: That's smart, but no one did. Oh wow, and this
- 42:31Speaker 2: was next to his sister.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Apparently not next to Rowland's sister, next to the phone now, oh.
- 42:37Speaker 2: The phone, the person on the phone sister, yes.
- 42:40Speaker 1: And not next to him, just like within the same graveyard. Okay,
- 42:43Speaker 1: So I mean, how are they going to identify who
- 42:45Speaker 1: that is even when you're in a full ass graveyard.
- 42:48Speaker 2: So do we even know if this person who phone
- 42:51Speaker 2: knew Roland? Or he must have I guess, especially if okay, what.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Kind of stranger would phone in and say, hey, I'm
- 43:01Speaker 1: going to pay for the full service to go in
- 43:04Speaker 1: a different graveyard so they're located near my sister and
- 43:08Speaker 1: then also give information that he got what's coming to
- 43:10Speaker 1: him because he's cheating.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Right, But he's still at a soft spot for him,
- 43:15Speaker 2: like I do, clearly so because he's a cheater, but
- 43:20Speaker 2: he's still going to pay for him to actually have
- 43:21Speaker 2: like a burial exactly.
- 43:24Speaker 1: So my assumption is that sister that he was being
- 43:28Speaker 1: laid near is probably his fiance or something who may
- 43:32Speaker 1: have also been killed then, or maybe it was next
- 43:35Speaker 1: to his own sister. But also that doesn't add up too,
- 43:38Speaker 1: because we'll figure out something else here later on. But okay,
- 43:41Speaker 1: things just don't. It doesn't make sense.
- 43:44Speaker 2: And do we get to learn who Louise is?
- 43:49Speaker 1: That's all we know about Louise?
- 43:50Speaker 2: What that shit?
- 43:51Speaker 1: That is all we know about Louise.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Thirteen roses so that took sometimes thirteen isn't necessarily a
- 43:56Speaker 2: good number.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Yeah, but also you're thinking Baker's doesn't though too, right, Yeah, okay,
- 44:01Speaker 1: so because nowadays we just go a dozen roses that's standard,
- 44:04Speaker 1: but oftentimes like Baker's doesn't because if you drop one
- 44:07Speaker 1: or one goes bad or one dares right.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Okay.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Now, it is noted though, that after the funeral service,
- 44:14Speaker 1: a woman phoned the Canzie Citist Journal Post newsroom to
- 44:17Speaker 1: inform them to inform them that they did get him
- 44:20Speaker 1: a proper burial and he's not at rest in a
- 44:23Speaker 1: potter's grave. Now. They asked the woman to identify herself,
- 44:27Speaker 1: but she simply said, never mind, I know what I'm
- 44:30Speaker 1: talking about, and then, when pressed further about if she
- 44:33Speaker 1: knew anything else about the man, she replied, he got
- 44:35Speaker 1: into a jam, then hung up the phone.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Well, yeah, you could consider that a jam for sure.
- 44:42Speaker 1: I mean, if you killed I'm pretty sure you got
- 44:44Speaker 1: yourself into a jam.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just saying yeah, But I mean also that
- 44:49Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm just going back to the people
- 44:51Speaker 2: that heard the voices and stuff in his room, and
- 44:53Speaker 2: they were men. But I guess just because the women
- 44:56Speaker 2: got their revenge doesn't necessarily mean that men didn't still
- 45:00Speaker 2: kill him.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Okay, sorry, my brain just me. I'm just thinking out
- 45:05Speaker 2: loud here.
- 45:05Speaker 1: If there are men involved like this, Dawn, potentially he
- 45:09Speaker 1: could have been someone for hire.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Okay, see I envisioned down being a woman.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Don. Well it's spelled d o N, not Dawn.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Oh okay, Okay, I for some reason just went that
- 45:20Speaker 2: I was a woman.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Okay, like my dad, his name is Don e O N.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Yeah right, and typically when you see a female spelling,
- 45:25Speaker 1: it's dawn.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, So, Okay, where.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Am I here? Now? I completely lost track of what
- 45:32Speaker 1: I was doing.
- 45:33Speaker 2: You got this? Okay?
- 45:34Speaker 1: I found it. It seemed like no one would be
- 45:37Speaker 1: able to identify the man who was murdered in ten
- 45:39Speaker 1: forty six, that he'd be laid to rest as a stranger,
- 45:42Speaker 1: even in his new grave, and these mystery mysterious callers
- 45:47Speaker 1: and history basically would only ever refer to him as
- 45:51Speaker 1: his alias right roll, which is so odd. That is,
- 45:57Speaker 1: until one more phone call would come in and identify him.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Okay, spill.
- 46:03Speaker 1: It was about a year and a half later, in
- 46:05Speaker 1: nineteen thirty six, a woman named Ruby Ogletree from Alabama
- 46:10Speaker 1: phoned the police. She phoned the individuals who were responsible
- 46:14Speaker 1: for in his investigation, and she's like, hey, I was
- 46:20Speaker 1: reading an article that was written in the American Weekly
- 46:22Speaker 1: about this case with a photo of the man, and
- 46:25Speaker 1: she claimed that this man looked a lot like her son,
- 46:28Speaker 1: who was hitchhiking in California in nineteen thirty four. She
- 46:33Speaker 1: was able to give enough identifying features of the man,
- 46:36Speaker 1: including the scar over his left ear by his hairline,
- 46:39Speaker 1: to confirm that this was her son. Wow, and his
- 46:43Speaker 1: name was Artemis Ogletree, which I fucking love that.
- 46:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I thought Roland was a cool name, and it's
- 46:50Speaker 2: got better.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Hey Artemis Ogletree.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Wow, fuck, I.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Wish that was my name.
- 46:55Speaker 2: If Ben ever changes his name, that's going to be it.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Hey, if I ever have an alias, you damn rights,
- 47:00Speaker 1: it's going to be Artemis ogle Tree. Like that is
- 47:03Speaker 1: a pretty cool name that flows so good, it seems dope.
- 47:06Speaker 1: I'm mister ogle Tree. My name's Artemis Artemis ogle Tree,
- 47:10Speaker 1: Like hell yeah, like almost a name.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Like that, that man's going to do stuff or good
- 47:15Speaker 2: things in his life.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Just picture this. Just think of like a documentary or
- 47:19Speaker 1: something memoir or some sort of thing about this guy's life.
- 47:23Speaker 1: And it's just titled The Adventures of Artemis ogle Tree.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Like holy shit.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're judging a book by its cover, you'd
- 47:31Speaker 2: grab that one.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Yes, this dude is doing some cool.
- 47:34Speaker 2: Shit, except that he got got murdered.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but he was definitely doing some shit.
- 47:41Speaker 2: He's doing something. He's literally really was on.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Some sort of adventure. Didn't lead him down the right path,
- 47:47Speaker 1: but he was doing some adventure and that's for sure. Anyways, Well,
- 47:52Speaker 1: Artemis was hitchhiking. He did start out writing letters to
- 47:55Speaker 1: his mom while traveling, but did eventually stop. Now there
- 47:58Speaker 1: is one only one problem here. She was still receiving
- 48:03Speaker 1: letters after he was killed.
- 48:07Speaker 2: Really, I was drinking wine at that time.
- 48:10Speaker 1: But I was like, what, I don't know if anyone
- 48:12Speaker 1: literally heard Nicole's gulp in the microphone.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Still writing letters to her after he had supposedly died.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Yes. Wow. So in early nineteen thirty five, she received
- 48:24Speaker 1: a typed letter which she found very suspicious, which said
- 48:28Speaker 1: he She said she that he didn't know how to type,
- 48:31Speaker 1: so that was a big thing right there, and it
- 48:34Speaker 1: was written in a very informal style that didn't suit
- 48:37Speaker 1: his normal writing. So she was very weirded out by
- 48:40Speaker 1: this letter a bit. And then in May of nineteen
- 48:43Speaker 1: thirty five, another letter that was handwritten said that he
- 48:47Speaker 1: was heading off to Europe. Now, in August, she received
- 48:51Speaker 1: a phone call from a man in Tennessee claiming that
- 48:54Speaker 1: Artemis had saved his life and the Artemis couldn't actually
- 48:57Speaker 1: call her himself because he was living in Kyro, Egypt,
- 49:00Speaker 1: where he had married a wealthy woman.
- 49:04Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 49:05Speaker 1: So this man she was on the phone with talked
- 49:07Speaker 1: to her for about half an hour Now she was
- 49:11Speaker 1: leary of this man and said that he was like
- 49:13Speaker 1: kind of off his fucking rocker. But he did also
- 49:16Speaker 1: seem to have personal first hand knowledge of her son. Wow,
- 49:21Speaker 1: so clearly he at least knew him. So why would
- 49:26Speaker 1: some of this stuff he's saying be a lie?
- 49:30Speaker 2: Okay, my brain is what Also that one letter that
- 49:34Speaker 2: she got in like, may was it his handwriting or
- 49:37Speaker 2: like was it his writing?
- 49:39Speaker 1: We'll touch on that shortly. Okay. They did look up
- 49:43Speaker 1: manifest for shift ships heading to Cairo within those timelines,
- 49:47Speaker 1: and no manifest was ever found. Having an Artemis or
- 49:50Speaker 1: Roland Court. Now police had the man's real name and
- 49:57Speaker 1: some more information, they were actually able to do a
- 49:59Speaker 1: bit more investment gating. They didn't find much more though,
- 50:02Speaker 1: but they did find that under the name Armis, he'd
- 50:05Speaker 1: actually stayed at another hotel a few nights prior which
- 50:09Speaker 1: he did say, he did say, and he had shared
- 50:14Speaker 1: a room with another man. Okay, that individual is unknown. Now,
- 50:20Speaker 1: the theory here is that that man may have been
- 50:23Speaker 1: the quote Dawn that we had that written note and
- 50:26Speaker 1: the conversations to while he was staying in the infamous
- 50:29Speaker 1: ten forty six. So the final piece to this puzzle,
- 50:34Speaker 1: though still only speculation comes in the form of a
- 50:37Speaker 1: man named Joseph Martin. Now, Joseph was later arrested on
- 50:42Speaker 1: murder charges for killing a man in a hotel room
- 50:46Speaker 1: that they shared a hotel with and then later shoving
- 50:49Speaker 1: his body into the trunk of his car. One of
- 50:52Speaker 1: Joseph's aliases that he used Donald Kelso.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Oh, my god, my brain. I'm so fucking confuse right now. Okay,
- 51:02Speaker 2: first of all, when he was in this, I have
- 51:05Speaker 2: questions because I don't know what the fuck's going on
- 51:07Speaker 2: right now. So when we had when he was at
- 51:10Speaker 2: a hotel with the other man, was he checked in
- 51:13Speaker 2: as Roland or.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Artemis Artemis, which is why they didn't find it before.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Okay, and now Don has been murdered. No, no, Dawn
- 51:25Speaker 2: murdered someone else.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Don has never been identified this mysterious Dawn. However, the
- 51:32Speaker 1: theory is there's this individual named Joseph Martin also committed
- 51:37Speaker 1: and is charged for another hotel murder. Okay, one of
- 51:41Speaker 1: his aliases is Don is Donald Kelso.
- 51:45Speaker 2: Wow.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Now back to that written letter to Artemis's mother, That
- 51:53Speaker 1: handwriting just so happens to match Donald Kelso, Joseph Martin
- 52:01Speaker 1: whatever you want to call him.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Not Artemis though, No, not Artemis.
- 52:05Speaker 1: But it does match this guy who is now charged
- 52:07Speaker 1: for another murder.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Wow, Okay, this is this is all over the place.
- 52:15Speaker 1: No full connection has ever been made, which means no
- 52:18Speaker 1: criminal charges have ever been filed in Artemis's murder case
- 52:23Speaker 1: in room ten forty six. This case is still unsolved.
- 52:29Speaker 1: It is still a mystery.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Okay, this is wild. You always do these fucking cases
- 52:38Speaker 2: that everyone.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Just like and they're like, er, yeah, so you didn't
- 52:44Speaker 1: like this case.
- 52:45Speaker 2: No, I do like this, But now I'm like the
- 52:47Speaker 2: rest of my day, I'm gonna be fucking thinking about.
- 52:49Speaker 1: It, thinking about Artemis Ogle Tree.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Yeah, because I'm just like so curious if that actually
- 52:55Speaker 2: was Artemis in that room. But then they had photos
- 52:58Speaker 2: and the mom said that was so.
- 53:02Speaker 1: They're pretty damn sure that's Armaments. It's like the features
- 53:06Speaker 1: and everything she gave, Like, this is fucking him.
- 53:09Speaker 2: But it also makes sense that he would have died
- 53:13Speaker 2: in that other hotel room. He shared the room with
- 53:16Speaker 2: the Joseph guy, Joseph Don or Don Joseph or whatever.
- 53:20Speaker 1: The fuck If it is him who did it. Yeah,
- 53:23Speaker 1: I mean there's so much speculation revolving around this case.
- 53:27Speaker 1: And that's the thing that I started at the beginning.
- 53:29Speaker 1: It is a mystery. It's an unsolved case, but there's
- 53:31Speaker 1: information here that says it might actually be solved. We
- 53:36Speaker 1: just don't have the evidence.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Yeah, prove it. Yeah, Well would you say this is solved?
- 53:45Speaker 1: I think we might have found our killer, but I
- 53:48Speaker 1: don't think the case in itself is unsolved because clearly
- 53:51Speaker 1: there's other individuals who are involved. Yes, these jilted women
- 53:55Speaker 1: for example, He's clearly created this. I was gonna say
- 54:00Speaker 1: love triangle, but there's more people involved for it to
- 54:02Speaker 1: be a love triangle. There's three other women in total.
- 54:04Speaker 1: At least we have someone who wanted him to be
- 54:08Speaker 1: having a proper burial. Who is that? Have another individual
- 54:12Speaker 1: who might be one of these three women who said,
- 54:14Speaker 1: you know that sent the love letter to his grave
- 54:17Speaker 1: with roses? So who's that? How is she involved? And
- 54:22Speaker 1: if it is this whole like love relationship, how did
- 54:25Speaker 1: this Joseph guy aka Donald or don how did he
- 54:29Speaker 1: become involved? Is he just for hire? Is he related
- 54:32Speaker 1: to one of these women?
- 54:34Speaker 2: Is he maybe their new love interest?
- 54:37Speaker 1: Potentially, maybe he's actually someone who works with Artemis on
- 54:42Speaker 1: some other thing, and it's something else completely And there's
- 54:45Speaker 1: just two things that just happened to be going at
- 54:46Speaker 1: the same time, and one of them is what killed them,
- 54:50Speaker 1: and we're looking at the other for how this one's involved,
- 54:53Speaker 1: when really it's not even involved at all. What if
- 54:55Speaker 1: those women didn't get their revenge? What if someone else
- 54:58Speaker 1: got to him for something else completely different?
- 55:00Speaker 2: First, and what happens is if Artemis was in that
- 55:03Speaker 2: other room with Joseph, maybe they killed someone else. Could
- 55:07Speaker 2: have been someone else. Yeah, maybe Artemis is a killer himself.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Maybe so, I think we found the individual to kill Artemis.
- 55:15Speaker 1: But the whole last story revolving around what had happened,
- 55:19Speaker 1: how it all happened. Yeah, no fucking clue.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Mm Wow, this is an interesting one.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Hey, yep, I found this one and read it.
