- 1:29were before.
- 1:29I know sometimes people are saying to me,
- 1:31you know, John, this doesn't make sense.
- 1:35But the truth of the matter is it
- 1:39does make sense if you are intentional, okay?
- 1:45So that's an important thing, guys.
- 1:48You know, really, really important to understand and
- 1:52to know that this can help you become
- 1:55really, really good.
- 1:57But I know a lot of people out
- 1:58there say to me, John, you know, I
- 1:59don't quite get it.
- 2:00I don't understand, like, why something's not working.
- 2:05And I think that's an important thing for
- 2:07a lot of people, you know, to know.
- 2:11And so when I say, you know, we're
- 2:13here for you to help you become better,
- 2:16you know, this is a journey, right?

- 2:22And of course, I want to say welcome
- 2:24back.
- 2:24It's always great to have people here that
- 2:26really appreciate the quality and content that I

- 2:43You can become better every single day of
- 2:46your life.
- 2:47The show is based around motivational topics.
- 2:51For those of you who don't know, I
- 2:52just became an author not too long ago,
- 2:55actually, the 17th of April.
- 2:59So yeah, lots of great stuff happening there
- 3:01in my book.
- 3:02It's called Drained to Driven.
- 3:04And so again, I am really, really grateful
- 3:07for everyone here that has, you know, been
- 3:10supporting me and doing all this great stuff.
- 3:12I really, really do appreciate that, guys.
- 3:15Really appreciate that from the bottom of my
- 3:18heart.
- 3:19So guys, I want to take the opportunity
- 3:21again to say thank you and welcome.
- 3:22If you want to check out all of
- 3:23my great content, you can always go to
- 3:25BelieveMeAchieve.com for more of my amazing, inspiring
- 3:29creations, which you can do, incidentally, guys, 24
- 3:32hours a day, seven days a week, 365
- 3:35days of the year.
- 3:37Yes.
- 3:38Great to be with you.
- 3:40So every, basically it's every Saturday, we start
- 3:45a brand new master topic, and then we
- 3:47finish up on the week on a Friday.
- 3:50So we go Saturday to Friday.
- 3:51That's kind of, that's how we work.
- 3:53And so, you know, each day I have
- 3:59a granular topic, which is based on the
- 4:00master topic of the week, which we'll get
- 4:02into in just a second.
- 4:02But again, thanks everyone.
- 4:04If you're thirsty, if you're hungry, feel free
- 4:05to go grab that.
- 4:06I don't want anybody to be parched or,
- 4:09you know, hungry while they're here.
- 4:11So definitely go grab whatever you need to
- 4:12and come on back to the show.
- 4:15So ladies and gentlemen, this is Inspirations for
- 4:17Your Life, in case you did not know,
- 4:20you are on the Inspirations for Your Life
- 4:21channel.
- 4:22This is series five.
- 4:23It is show 19, guys.
- 4:25It is episode six, and it's actually a
- 4:30series five, show 19, excuse me, episode six,
- 4:33When Stability Returns.
- 4:35By the way, I'm John C.
- 4:36Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 4:41podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student, passionate
- 4:46lifelong learner.
- 4:48And yes, now I'm very grateful to be
- 4:50a published author.
- 4:52Yes, it is so great to be here
- 4:54with all of you and welcome.
- 4:56Thank you so much for choosing to be
- 4:57with me again on another Inspirations for Your
- 5:00Life show.
- 5:00So ladies and gentlemen, stability does not arrive
- 5:04suddenly.
- 5:04It's built through system or systems alignment, the
- 5:09behavior consistency, and internal control, returning step by
- 5:13step.
- 5:13Now, when disruption fades, structure begins to rebuild.
- 5:18Yeah.
- 5:18A lot of you say to me, oh,
- 5:19John, you know, this isn't working the way
- 5:21I want.
- 5:22And the reason that's happening is because you
- 5:24are getting stuck, okay?
- 5:26It's okay to get stuck, but we have
- 5:28to get ourselves unstuck, right?
- 5:30You ever had your car get stuck in
- 5:31the mud or stuck in the sand or
- 5:33stuck somewhere?
- 5:34It's okay that it happens, but we have
- 5:36to learn to become better so that doesn't
- 5:39happen next time.
- 5:40I think that's the really big key.
- 5:42So number one, guys, systems become reliable.
- 5:46Things stop breaking and start functioning again.
- 5:50I think that's a big important point.
- 5:52And number two, guys, thinking becomes clear, okay?
- 5:55Mental noise reduces and logic, well, it just
- 5:58sort of returns.
- 5:59And I think that's an important piece.
- 6:02Number three, emotions stabilize, and reactions settle, and
- 6:06balance returns, it returns.
- 6:10So that's something, again, that a lot of
- 6:12people don't really understand.
- 6:14They think it's going to happen like now,
- 6:16and they've got to do everything like right
- 6:17this moment.
- 6:18But the trick is that it's about being
- 6:22observant and about noticing the changes.
- 6:24All of them subtle.
- 6:26And these subtle changes will actually improve the
- 6:29quality of your life and the quality of
- 6:30other people's lives every single day.
- 6:34All right, guys, number four.
- 6:35Number four is decisions improve, and choices become
- 6:39faster, and they become more accurate, okay?
- 6:43They don't just become easier.
- 6:46You get more into a groove or a
- 6:47flow.
- 6:48And when you get into a rhythm, well,
- 6:50things just naturally flow, kind of like a
- 6:53river flows down a bank, right?
- 6:55Number five, behavior becomes consistent.
- 6:58Actions stop fluctuating.
- 7:00When you're consistent, you can get things to
- 7:02be on a certain plane.
- 7:05And when things are consistent, and they can
- 7:07be repeated, you can do a lot of
- 7:09stuff, guys.
- 7:09You can just keep doing things over and
- 7:11over and over again.
- 7:12And I think that is very important for
- 7:14a lot of people to realize that concept.
- 7:18Number six, guys, structure holds firm.
- 7:21Daily systems stop collapsing, okay?
- 7:24They stop collapsing.
- 7:25Focus becomes natural.
- 7:27Attention no longer feels forced, no longer forced.
- 7:31Number eight, execution smooths out.
- 7:36Tasks flow instead of resisting, okay?
- 7:41Number nine, growth becomes steady.
- 7:47Growth becomes steady.
- 7:50And progress, ladies and gentlemen, stops spiking.
- 7:54And it stabilizes for us.
- 7:56It stabilizes.
- 7:57And so when things stabilize, you know, we
- 8:00get the sense of calm.
- 8:01We get the sense of now being in
- 8:03control, not out of control, but in control.
- 8:08Number 10, energy becomes balanced.
- 8:12No more extremes, just control, right?
- 8:15Number 11, confidence stabilizes, and the belief becomes
- 8:19consistent through the repetition, through the repetition.
- 8:24That's an important point, guys.
- 8:25That's an important point.
- 8:26So number 12, discipline becomes automatic.
- 8:30Structure replaces the effort.
- 8:33Structure, not the fact that you're putting in
- 8:36more effort.
- 8:37The structure is what replaces it, okay?
- 8:39The structure is what replaces it.
- 8:41And I think that's an important point that
- 8:43many people forget, is the structure is what
- 8:46allows speed to happen.
- 8:48When you do things more intentionally, you will
- 8:52find that you're going to not make mistakes.
- 8:56You're going to be doing things the right
- 8:58way the first time.
- 9:00Number 13, guys, identity aligns who you are,
- 9:04and it matches what you do.
- 9:06Now, you might not get it right the
- 9:08first time, and it's perfectly okay to get
- 9:10it wrong the first time.
- 9:11Nothing, nothing wrong with that.
- 9:14I think these are important things for us
- 9:17to understand and to realize.
- 9:21Number 14, habits reinforce success.
- 9:26Repetition strengthens positive behavior, okay?
- 9:30Repetition gives us confidence, gives us a knowing,
- 9:34and now we can go ahead and just
- 9:36do something.
- 9:37So I think that's an important piece.
- 9:38Number 15, results become predictable, yeah, and outcomes
- 9:44stop feeling random, right?
- 9:46You're doing something for the right reason.
- 9:48Number 16, control strengthens, and external chaos has
- 9:53less impact now.
- 9:55I think when it has less impact, we're
- 9:57like, wait, it doesn't feel like it's overwhelming
- 10:00me anymore.
- 10:00But I know how a lot of people
- 10:02will say, you know, John, this is hard.
- 10:05I don't necessarily get this.
- 10:06And it's not that you don't get it.
- 10:08It's that you're scared about taking the next
- 10:10step.
- 10:12You know, the next step could be very
- 10:13daunting for a lot of people, right?
- 10:16I think that's a very important thing.
- 10:20When it becomes daunting, it's like, oh my
- 10:22gosh, what am I supposed to do?
- 10:24It's not the time to freak out, guys,
- 10:26not the time to freak out.
- 10:27It's the time to take a breath.
- 10:29It's the time to step back, okay?
- 10:31That's important, okay?
- 10:33That's important.
- 10:34Number 17, direction stabilizes, and you know where
- 10:38you are going.
- 10:40But sometimes, we're second-guessing ourselves, okay?
- 10:46And second-guessing ourselves can lead us into
- 10:49more challenges because we undo the confidence that
- 10:53we already built.
- 10:54So direction stabilizes, and you'll know when you're
- 10:56going, okay, when that happens.
- 10:59But don't expect it to happen like in
- 11:02the blink of an eye.
- 11:03Don't expect that.
- 11:04Number 18, clarity becomes constant.
- 11:07Understanding no longer comes in waves, no longer
- 11:12in waves.
- 11:14It comes because now we understand, now we
- 11:18know the way, okay?
- 11:21Now we know the way, and I think
- 11:27that's important.
- 11:30And some people say to me, you know,
- 11:34John, I don't get this.
- 11:36But then they panic when they can't get
- 11:38what they want because they feel out of
- 11:42control.
- 11:43They feel out of control.
- 11:45And being out of control, I think, is
- 11:47something that's very, very important.
- 12:00And I think sometimes people will say, you
- 12:03know, this isn't the right thing.
- 12:06But it's the way of doing things over
- 12:08and over again, right?
- 12:09The way of doing things over and over
- 12:11again.
- 12:11And that way, I think, makes people more
- 12:15in tune, more in alignment.
- 12:18Number 19, guys, momentum holds and progress continues
- 12:22without us restarting, without us going back to
- 12:25the drawing board.
- 12:26I mean, yes, we could go back there,
- 12:28but we don't need to go back to
- 12:29the drawing board because why?
- 12:32We know enough.
- 12:33We know enough to be confident to keep
- 12:36moving forward.
- 12:37I think that's a hard thing for a
- 12:38lot of people to grasp.
- 12:41But when you get a little bit of
- 12:42confidence, it's easy to get more confidence, okay?
- 12:46The mistake is a lot of people say,
- 12:47oh, my gosh.
- 13:01And I think that's important to understand, all
- 13:08right?
- 13:08That's important to understand.
- 13:10Number 20, progress becomes sustainable.
- 13:15Growth no longer burns out.
- 13:18We feel like we have energy.
- 13:20We feel like we're not, like, burning the
- 13:22candle at both ends.
- 13:23I'm sure you've probably heard that analogy before.
- 13:26And it's not meant to confuse you, okay?
- 13:31It's not meant to confuse you.
- 13:33What it is meant to do is it's
- 13:35meant to get you to realize one thing,
- 13:44okay?
- 13:52And I think that's hard for a lot
- 13:54of people to realize.
- 13:58But the more they work at it, the
- 14:01more they become better at it over time.
- 14:04And I think that's something that a lot
- 14:06of people say to me, you know what?
- 14:08I think I know where I'm going, but
- 14:09then you know what?
- 14:10I don't know where I'm going.
- 14:12And it's not to get you confused, guys.
- 14:18It's because what you're doing is something that
- 14:25you're uncomfortable with.
- 14:26And I've said we've got to practice getting
- 14:28comfortable being uncomfortable.
- 14:31That's the truth, guys.
- 14:32Number 21, fear decreases.
- 14:35Uncertainty loses its influence.
- 14:37And I think that's an important thing for
- 14:38a lot of people.
- 14:39When that fear reduces because of now us
- 14:44knowing our path, that's pretty remarkable, guys.
- 14:47Number 22, awareness increases and you see systems
- 14:51instead of events.
- 14:53And systems make things easier.
- 14:55They make things more practical.
- 14:58But sometimes, guys, we get stuck on what
- 15:03that practicality is.
- 15:04And we find ourselves going through this very
- 15:06long thing.
- 15:09And the long thing is that most people
- 15:13feel that everything's going to happen like in
- 15:15day one.
- 15:16And when it doesn't happen in day one,
- 15:18they're like, oh my gosh, what am I
- 15:20supposed to do, right?
- 15:21How am I going to handle this?
- 15:23And I think that's an important thing for
- 15:27a lot of people to realize is how
- 15:31do we actually do this?
- 15:33Number 23.
- 15:35Number 23.
- 15:36Number 23 is all about stability, OK?
- 15:40And I can tell you stability becomes lifestyle.
- 15:44Structure becomes normal, OK?
- 15:47And that's important, OK?
- 15:49That's a very, very important thing for us
- 15:51to realize.
- 15:54Doing replaces the thinking.
- 15:57Doing replaces the thinking.
- 15:59And when we do, OK, we can do
- 16:05a lot of stuff, guys, OK?
- 16:07We can do a lot, a lot of
- 16:08stuff.
- 16:09But I think sometimes people, you know, they
- 16:12get stuck in that moment, right?
- 16:15They get stuck in what's happening.
- 16:16Number 25, guys.
- 16:19Systems run smoothly, less friction in the daily
- 16:24operation.
- 16:26And again, that might sound crazy, but I'm
- 16:29here to tell you that it's not crazy,
- 16:37OK?
- 16:38And maybe you're saying to me, John, like,
- 16:39I'm not getting this, OK?
- 16:43Be aware of your surrounding and things will
- 16:45get easier for you.
- 16:46I promise you that.
- 16:53Number 26.
- 16:55Growth becomes consistent and there's no more stop
- 16:58and starts.
- 16:58The more that we stop, the more that
- 16:59we start, the more that things don't go
- 17:02the way we want them to go, OK?
- 17:05I think that's an important piece, right, important
- 17:09piece about growth.
- 17:13Number 27, guys.
- 17:14Focus becomes the default and attention stays where
- 17:17it should be, where it should be because
- 17:20it falls into an alignment pattern, all right?
- 17:23It falls into an alignment pattern.
- 17:26And I think that's an important thing to
- 17:29realize.
- 17:30Number 28.
- 17:32Success becomes repeatable.
- 17:34Outcomes can be reached over and over and
- 17:36over again.
- 17:37Number 29.
- 17:38Stability locks in, no longer temporary, OK?
- 17:45No longer temporary.
- 17:47Number 30, guys.
- 17:48Number 30 is control becomes internal.
- 17:52Control becomes internal and mastery shifts inwards toward
- 17:56us, OK?
- 17:58But again, this does not happen in five
- 18:00minutes, guys.
- 18:02It takes time for us to acclimate and
- 18:05we've got to practice getting comfortable, guys, being
- 18:07uncomfortable.
- 18:09I think a lot of people don't like
- 18:11that.
- 18:11They don't like to be uncomfortable.
- 18:13They always want to be comfortable.
- 18:14So they're always going to be complaining.
- 18:16They're always going to be like, oh my
- 18:17gosh, what am I doing?
- 18:18They're like putting more panic in themselves.
- 18:21And I think that happens for a lot
- 18:24of people, you know?
- 18:27When I think about stability returning, I could
- 18:33talk about breaking my TIB and FIB.
- 18:36When I broke it, it was like, what
- 18:42am I going to do now, right?
- 18:44That was the question that was going through
- 18:46my head.
- 18:46What am I going to do now?
- 18:49What am I going to do now?
- 18:54And that's a hard thing to digest.
- 19:01I said I've just got to take everything
- 19:03day by day by day, day
- 19:13by day by day by day.
- 19:17It's important, guys, very important to know that,
- 19:21to know what that stands for, and to
- 19:24be able to move from a point of
- 19:27being incapacitated, not able to walk, to now
- 19:30moving to a different plane, a different plane,
- 19:34a different insight, a different insight.
- 19:41That's important, guys, a different insight.
- 19:45And from that insight, I was able to
- 19:46change things around.
- 19:48I was able to figure out where I
- 19:50was going.
- 19:51I was able to slowly rebuild not just
- 19:54my leg, guys, but my entire life.
- 19:58My book talks about that.
- 19:59But to share this with you, it comes
- 20:02down to the fact that we need to
- 20:04be resilient all the time, OK?
- 20:09We need to be resilient.
- 20:13And I think a lot of you are
- 20:15saying to me, John, I don't know how
- 20:16to do that.
- 20:18And the best way to be resilient is
- 20:20to do it when you need to be.
- 20:21Can you prepare to be resilient?
- 20:25You can, but when the situation has arisen
- 20:30and you have to be resilient, you rise
- 20:34to the occasion, right?
- 20:36Now, maybe you make some mistakes.
- 20:39But my leg, I didn't know what, my
- 20:42tib and fib, I didn't know what to
- 20:43expect.
- 20:44All I knew is that it was not
- 20:46going to be easy for me.
- 20:48That was a given.
- 20:50When I thought about the fact of having
- 20:52to get dressed every morning, move from a
- 20:55shower to a sponge bath, that was hard,
- 21:00OK?
- 21:02That was hard.
- 21:04That was absolutely very, very hard.
- 21:07And I say that to you because that's
- 21:11the key.
- 21:13We might not know how to be resilient.
- 21:16But what we can do is we can
- 21:19experience resilience from what's going on in our
- 21:23lives, OK?
- 21:25And what goes on in our lives may
- 21:28seem hard or confusing, just like a puzzle
- 21:33with a million pieces.
- 21:34Once we figure out where something goes and
- 21:37we get a, let's say, a set of
- 21:40bearings of where we are, moving forward does
- 21:44not seem so impossible.
- 21:47But I think we try to master the
- 21:49entire puzzle in one day.
- 21:50And we try to do that.
- 21:51Guess what happens, guys?
- 21:52We get frustrated.
- 21:53We don't want to do puzzles anymore.
- 21:54We work from the corner.
- 21:55We work from different pieces we know.
- 21:57We work with what we have.
- 21:59And then we build it from there.
- 22:02And that's not the easiest thing, guys, I
- 22:03got to tell you.
- 22:06Breaking a tib and fib was not easy
- 22:08to recover from.
- 22:09I was very blessed from my creator that
- 22:12I was spared from any of the discomfort
- 22:14and pain.
- 22:15The discomfort I had was more emotional.
- 22:17It also was the fact that I could
- 22:18not walk.
- 22:21But I was spared from all pain.
- 22:23So I was very grateful for that.
- 22:24The moment I broke the tib and fib,
- 22:26it was like this adrenaline kicked in that
- 22:30blocked all the pain in my leg.
- 22:33That was amazing how that happened.
- 22:36So ladies and gentlemen, I want to let
- 22:38you know something.
- 22:38Stability is not luck.
- 22:40It is a structure that is finally aligned.
- 22:44And if it doesn't align the first time,
- 22:46it might take a few times, but that's
- 22:47OK.
- 22:48When systems, behavior, and identity align, control stops.
- 22:53Let me say that again.
- 22:55When systems, behavior, and identity align, control stops.
- 22:59It stops being external.
- 23:00And it becomes internal.
- 23:02And that is when life stops reacting and
- 23:05starts functioning with pure intention, pure intention, pure
- 23:14intention.
- 23:18So when the systems, behavior, and the identity
- 23:20align, the control stops being external.
- 23:25It becomes part of who you are.
- 23:30As I think about this and I reflect,
- 23:36would I have done anything different as far
- 23:44as the broken tib and fib?
- 23:46I don't think the way I recovered could
- 23:51have been done any different.
- 23:51I thought it got done pretty well.
- 23:54There was some trials and tribulations, but I
- 23:55thought it went pretty well.
- 23:58Obviously, the thing would have been not to
- 23:59break my tib and fib.
- 24:00And it all happened because the grandfather of
- 24:04Hunter Mountain decided to give the resort away
- 24:06to his grandkids.
- 24:08They didn't know anything about business, money, skiing,
- 24:12resorts, hospitality.
- 24:13They went from a five-star to a
- 24:15negative five-star, and now they got sold.
- 24:17I think they sold the peak resorts or
- 24:18something.
- 24:19That's what he should have done in the
- 24:20first place.
- 24:21He should have never tried to give it
- 24:22to his grandkids because they didn't know anything.
- 24:26Sell it and give them the money.
- 24:28He said he had so many things that
- 24:30weekend.
- 24:31There was a little less than 1,000
- 24:33people that went to the emergency room that
- 24:35weekend.
- 24:35Myself and one other person didn't have surgery.
- 24:38If you want to know more about why
- 24:39I didn't have surgery, read the book.
- 24:41But I can tell you this.
- 24:43I had to fight to not have surgery.
- 24:49There's a saying that goes, don't take my
- 24:53kindness for weakness.
- 24:55And I want to turn this around and
- 24:57tell you, don't take the weakness that I
- 25:03appear to have as license to go against
- 25:09me.
- 25:12I think that's a very important thing that
- 25:16a lot of people just don't seem to
- 25:18realize.
- 25:19They don't seem to understand that.
- 25:21It was personal for me.
- 25:23It was very personal.
- 25:25And that personal moment said to me, John,
- 25:27you're going to get through this.
- 25:29Of course, with the grace of God and
- 25:31our Lord, I did.
- 25:32But it was not easy.
- 25:35It wasn't easy, guys.
- 25:37It was not easy.
- 25:39Not painful, but it was just different.
- 25:43It's the best way I can explain it
- 25:44to you guys.
- 25:45It was different.
- 25:48Have you ever had to do something whereby
- 25:50you knew you had to do it, you
- 25:52weren't crazy about it, but you did it
- 25:54because you knew if you got through this,
- 25:56you'd be able to do other things you
- 25:57wanted to do?
- 25:59I knew that I couldn't go anywhere in
- 26:01life without getting my leg healed.
- 26:06That was a given.
- 26:10And so I had to have self-control.
- 26:19I had to have self-control.
- 26:22And that's an important thing.
- 26:24But sometimes we want to give up.
- 26:26We want to move faster because we think
- 26:30that our self-control will just happen.
- 26:35It doesn't.
- 26:38Does it come from motivation?
- 26:40It can start there.
- 26:42But it really has to come from discipline,
- 26:44which comes from your core values.
- 26:47Comes from your core values.
- 26:49So motivation is great, but it's the discipline
- 26:51that gets us on track to be where
- 26:53we want to be.
- 26:56The discipline keeps the motivation rolling.
- 27:00The discipline keeps the motivation rolling.
- 27:02I think that's a very important thing to
- 27:05understand.
- 27:08It's the discipline that does it, not the
- 27:11motivation, guys.
- 27:12The motivation will wane sometimes.
