Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Welcome back to the show, Mom.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Thanks.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: It's been a while.
- 0:03SPEAKER_02: It has been a while, and this is the first in-person one that we've done without dad.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Last time we did it with dad.
- 0:10SPEAKER_02: Sorry to do that.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: But it's kind of fun.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: A lot has happened since last time we chatted.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: With Snug with what you're doing, all that stuff.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: Um, now you're getting after it in a different level.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Different level for sure.
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: But give us a little update.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: Um tell us about Snug.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: Because I I want to know kind of what we do.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: So um when our lovely president put um tariffs on stuff from China, that's where I get m got most of my fabric.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Um, number one, my distributors stopped supplying that type of fabric that I used to get from blankets.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Um, and then when I could find it, it was super expensive, so it would would have raised my prices a ton.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And I already had a a bunch on stock or a bunch on hand.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: And so I just sold what I had through the end of December, and then I had to shut down, which was sad, but also okay.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, it w I had a nine-year run, so nine years is nuts.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: I used to and I loved it, and I got a lot of my favorite thing was when people told me that you know they loved it and that made them, you know, it was their favorite thing.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: So that that was I have many reviews from people.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: Every time I know, you're so nice.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: You know, every time I I give a blank to someone, they're always like, That was the best.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: Your mom is so sweet.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: She makes them all by hand.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: And it's it's impressive.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Well, I made a bunch, I had a bunch of fabric left, so I just made a bunch to have for like gifts and stuff.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: So I still have some for you.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Hey, we'll take it.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: But yeah, we love snugs in this family.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: So my cousin um has been bugging me.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: She works for American Airlines, and she's been bugging me for nine years to come go to the airport and work at the airport because so we could fly free, you know.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: And so I was like, no, no, because I was busy with snug.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: And then I finally decided, uh, why not?
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: And so Well, before we get into that, okay, sorry.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: No, you're totally good.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: Nine years is a long time.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: I'm sure you learned a lot of lessons.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: I did.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: What is maybe the top one or two lessons that you took from the whole time running and operating a business for nine years?
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Well, operating a business by yourself is a lot of work.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of getting after it.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you were um sourcing, you were the manufacturer, you created it.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: Then you were the marketer, the advertiser, you created the website.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: You were logistics, so you shipped the product.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: That's impressive.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: That's a lot of stuff.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Everything.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And then when I went to do like boutiques and shows and stuff, it was well, your dad.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Your dad.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Event planner.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: No, I I, you know, that was a lot of work too.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: That was like two days of you know, setting up and then taking down and you know, was smoogine, oh yeah.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Oh, I know all about that in sales.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: So it's just, I mean, you just it but it I loved it because I got to meet a bunch of pe f great people, different people.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: True.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, anyway, yeah.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: No, if you got a story, you gotta tell it.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Well, that's that's what this podcast is.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: The Kristen Wig um girl.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: Kristen Wig, the actress?
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: She had she had a skit where her hair was like all the way back, like back here, and she had little tiny hands, and there was a lady that looked just like her.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: What does she sell?
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, I was not really sure because it was like odds and ends of stuff.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: So I was like, okay, and I try not to be judgy, but it was like really hard.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she shows people her products with tiny hands.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: She didn't have tiny hands, but her hair was exactly the same.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: That's pretty good.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: I like that.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: So that's my story.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: I'll put up a picture of the Christian Wig person so everyone knows what you're talking about.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, okay, perfect.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: That's perfect.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because it was, I mean, yeah, it's a pretty funny skit, but yeah.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: Anyway, anyways, lessons learned.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Lessons learned.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Um, I probably would have maybe resourced some of my stuff out.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, you guys helped me so much with like the technology and the posting and like mom, you gotta do this, and mommy gotta do that.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: And it just got to be too much for one person, yeah.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Honestly.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: That makes sense.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: It's a lot of stuff.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I loved making the blankets, but you know, like when I would go to LA and get all the fabric, I'd have to cut it and then I'd have to wash it, and then I'd have to pin it, and then I'd have like on our stairwell just a ton of blankets that needed to be sewn, and it would take a long time.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: But I got really fast.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Remember those days?
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I got really fast.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I could do I did, I think my highest total of blankets a day was 20.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: Jeez.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: So it was a lot.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: Okay, so from when you started, how long did it take you to make a blanket?
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: To like what was your Oh my gosh.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: My first time, I think it took me an hour to make one.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Because I didn't I didn't have a serger, so I didn't have all the right tools, and I had to so after I'd made it, I'd have to cut it along the edges after you know, and I was just like, This is just ridiculous.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And then my sister, who's a quilter and she was like, You should get a serger, and it cuts it as you go.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: So it was that was a game changer.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: So that's insane.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I think I I probably I don't know.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: I probably should have gone to more shows, and I probably could have done that if I had a few people helping me.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: And I did Lily helped me a lot, my granddaughter, and she was great.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: And you guys helped me a lot.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: We tried.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Um, you did, but like, I don't know, like, oh, you go do the show instead of me, you know, just stuff like that.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's like I've done races, I've done the podcast, like all these things.
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: I haven't done a business yet, working on it.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: You will.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Um, but like I could come up with tons of things like that too.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: Like, oh, I should have done this differently, or like during my sub three marathon, I wonder if I could have gotten a minute faster if I would have ate more the previous two days.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: Like, I think when you're hindsight, you could always find things where it's like, I wish I did this differently, or you know, I should have done this.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: But I think what's interesting is like a lot of people don't try.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: And that's what's sad, is like you know people, I know people who have had great ideas, and that's all they are, or ideas.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: And it's just, I don't know.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: I you've probably heard me talk about this quote.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: You know this one?
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: The man in the arena.
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: That's what it's all about.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Is like the person who tries.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: And I always wanted to have my own business, and so it was it was really fun why it lasted, but it was exhausting.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, but I you know, I I just learned I mean, I s I see other people running business and I go, Oh yeah, I've been there.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: But I not maybe not to their degree because it's theirs is probably a lot bigger.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: But I I mean I wish I would have got a lot bigger, but yeah, like I said, I was I'm kind of a control freak, so I kind of wanted to make sure I made the blankets right and you know, did all this stuff.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: So I I don't know.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: I probably should have let Saf stuff go.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: That's another thing I learned.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: I've been learning that, but it you know, it's tough, it's hard to do that.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: But I really enjoyed it why I did it, and I'm glad I did it.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: And I think I would have been continuing to do it if the tariffs weren't so bad, you know.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: So what did it teach you about yourself?
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Um gosh, I don't know.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: What do you think it taught me?
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: I mean, just watching you, like from the very beginning.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: I remember you started it when I was on my mission.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: Um, you sent me a blanket, and I was like, that's pretty cool.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: She's doing this.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: Like, I think at the time, I can't even remember the blanket names.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Cozy.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Was that the one?
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: I think there was a cozy and uh goosebumps, yeah.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: Okay, like, and I was like, she's going up against them.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: Like, that's pretty cool.
- 8:01SPEAKER_02: And then like you started doing all these things, you had like a logo design, you ran ads occasionally, like you did all these different things you were trying to.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: Um, but I think honestly, what I saw through your example was just like I don't consider myself a business owner, or like I don't consider myself insert whatever you're thinking about there, but like I'm gonna try.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: And that's the the biggest thing is like that period where you're like, I'm gonna try this thing, it lasted nine years, which is uh really cool.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I only I only started out with I just we decided just to do$500 and to see where I could go from there, and yeah, so yeah.
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: Because I mean, like, I think so many people, um, myself included, with things that I do sometimes, but it's like I get really excited in the beginning.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: And the beginning's easy because human beings love novelty, they love new things, and then you know, once that excitement starts to drain and the motivation runs out, it's like, do I want to keep going?
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Like that's that's why discipline's important.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: But you're one of the most disciplined ladies I know.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: I know it's funny because I just I was just remembering my first like to get my name out there, I I signed up for like a street fair.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: And um which one is that?
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: I don't remember that.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: It was in at Dana Park.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: And oh wow, okay.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: I had I think I had a total of 22 blankets.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 9:29SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: And I think I had four left when I le when I was done.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: And I was so excited and I was like, okay, I can do this, but it was it's just funny because I had like just 22 blankets, and when I go to shows late, you know, lately it would be like, I don't know, I'd have at least 200 blankets.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: So that's so anyway.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: I mean it bought like bins of stuff, like those massive Costco bins, you would have five or six of them like taken into the show.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: It was nuts, but um but yeah, no, I think it was it was great, and I um I did things that I wouldn't normally do, so I think I was a little brave.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Which is huge, I guess.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I mean I don't know.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: I liked it, it was fun.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it it's it was really cool watching, and the thing that I think is really cool too is um there's so many companies out there that have like a crappy product, they just want to make money, right?
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but the thing that was different, I think, about Snug was you would make everyone by hand and you could tell.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: Like, and then the other thing I thought was really cool, and you did it the entire nine years, I think.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: Um, but you would have a little card in it and with like a handwritten note where it's like, thank you so much for your order.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: Um that's like that goes a long way.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: Well, I was very appreciative of anybody who ordered because most of my sales were like I I mean, word of mouth pretty much.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: And I mean Instagram, I had a I had a thousand followers, and so I think it just you know, people really liked it, and so they would tell their friends, and then all of a sudden I'd get orders from Hawaii and Alaska, and you know what I mean?
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: It's just like whoa, that was fun.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the word of mouth was crazy on this.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: I know, right?
- 11:09SPEAKER_02: Uh we could have we we just had to figure out the marketing that that would be.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: I know that would have been better, but yeah, I know.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Coulda, shulda, woulda.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: Hey, but it's fine.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Lessons learned.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 11:17SPEAKER_02: Um, but no, I think that's really cool.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: And along that, you were my biggest supporter.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: You guys, all you guys were just like cheering me on.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: It was so cool.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: Well, and anybody who has a one maybe.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: All of you boys would be like, you need to get one of these, these are so cool, and you would promote it.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: It was great.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: It was fun.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: I appreciate it.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: I still remember the video.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: Um, I think it was a Father's Day out of dad just laying in the field, and the drone goes up.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: I know that was great.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: That one's funny.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: That one was a good one.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: I used to play that all the time too on Father's Day because it was a good one.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: It's a good one.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Um but you guys were all my models, and you guys were like, That's true.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there were multiple times where it's like, okay, it's time to go model new blankets.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: It's like anyone we could get, we would go and do it.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: It was fun.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm trying to remember if we used any of my friends.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: I don't think so.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: No, it was mostly my friends and their daughters and their sons and nephews and nieces and Parker and Carter.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, all my kids.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: It's so funny.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Grandkids, everybody.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: Your parents.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: My parents.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: Um, no, it's it's so cool to see that though.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: But I don't know.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: It's a great example.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Just like go out and do the thing.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: Go and try.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, you gotta try it.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: But yeah.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: You've done it a lot in your life, though.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm kind of weird.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: You've done it a lot.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: I like little projects and little things, you know.
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: So like Chicago Marathon.
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: That was one.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Yep, that was one.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: Is that the only marathon you've done?
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: I've run um three halves, but only one full.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Okay, but it was Chicago.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: It was Chicago, and they didn't they didn't have the you have to like a Boston.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: I wouldn't say that on this.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: You don't have to say that.
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean let them think of that.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: I'm just kidding.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: My friend, I had never I hadn't ran ever.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: And my friend's like, let's go run a marathon.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Are you kidding?
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: And she's like, No, I'm serious.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: And so I would run to the corner and then walk, and then I'd run to the corner until I got at least three miles, and then we joined Team Diabetes and we raised money for diabetes and then ran it.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Of course, she creamed me because she had been running, but I didn't care, I just wanted to finish.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that's I'm not telling you my time.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: Don't yeah, you don't have to tell the time, but that story is wild.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: I didn't actually know that you weren't running at the time.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, not at all.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: I had no idea.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Like I did Taibot and I did other things.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: Your training plan, do you remember?
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Um, I know you must have written it down in notebooks.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: No, because I I'm I think I think it was three months and it was in the summer.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: In Arizona.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: In Arizona.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: So we would get up at 4 a.m.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Jeez, and we would drive to Phoenix because that's where they met, and they would run along the canal.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: And I just remember doing the 20, and I was pretty, I'm pretty sure I was the last person.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: But we ran up and down, we ran up 10 miles on the canal and came back, and I was so it was like, I did it.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: I was so excited because I did it.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: But I do remember we ran South Mountain one time, and my tra and same thing, I was running uphill, and I was the last person, and my trainer's like, How was your run?
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: And I was like, It sucked, and I got in my car and I went home.
- 14:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, that happens.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: That's like love, hey relationship with running.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: I I think part of it was that I was scared, no one was with me.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: There was wild animals and weird people going up South Mountain, and so I was just like, I was kind of mad that there was nobody on bikes checking on people.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: Like, are you guys okay?
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: You know, it was 14 miles, you know, and I was just like, okay, I was so mad.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: I felt bad afterwards, but I was like, I can't believe you made us run up there with no help.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: Anyway, that's so funny.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: It's stupid.
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: It's tough.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: It is tough.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: Training for a marathon's hard, especially like I don't know, you had four kids.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you were four, six, four.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: You were four.
- 14:58SPEAKER_02: So this wasn't Drake Street time.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: I thought it was.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: This was before Drake Street time.
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: Okay, so yeah.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: Dang.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Okay, so I was four years old.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because I was trying to find shirts that said my mom ran a marathon so you guys could wear them to school or for the other kids to wear them to school.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: So I could wear it to school.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe it was Drake Street.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: I swear it was because Oh, it was 2001.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we had a sign.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: Dad had us all like work on a sign and it said, Um, congratulations, Dina Soreass.
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 15:25SPEAKER_02: It was the best.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: Because I was limping.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: I remember it's so funny.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: I was limping after.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: I like he had a meeting after in Chicago, so he stayed.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: And then I got on the plane, and as he dropped me off of the airport, I'm like limping.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: I was just like, okay.
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: Isn't that the race where he held someone and they died?
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: I was coming up on mile 22.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: I saw the ambulance leave.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: But I didn't see what happened.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: And dad was going to place to place to take pictures of me.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: Um, and which I haven't seen any of those pictures.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Oh, you haven't?
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: No, do you have them?
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have a whole book.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: It's my whole marathon book.
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: I want to see those.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: Stupid.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: No.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: But yeah, he he was going with Lyle because my friend Ada and I ran it.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: And they were going taking taxis to different spots along the way.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: We ran through four subdivisions of like um, you know, the Chinese and the uh mag scene.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: That's cool.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: It was super cool, and they were all so nice.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: I loved it because they were all wanted to shake your hand.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: I know I love the marathon and oh my gosh, I loved it.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Anyway, so anyway, I'm coming up to mile 22 and dad, I see an ambulance leaving, and I was just, you know, you think injuries.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: And so he ran ran up to me and he's like, Are you okay?
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: Are you okay?
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Yes.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I'm all like 12 and 2, I just want to get this done.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: I was so mad.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: I was like, Why are you bugging?
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and he didn't tell me, and I'm glad he didn't, because he knows me very well because I would have freaked out.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: So when I crossed the finish line and um we got done, and we were going up back to the room, and he's like, Yeah, a guy died in my arms, and it was so it made me so sad.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Like his family was waiting at oh my gosh, that's horrible.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: The finish line, and he had just run, he had run like he was in a run running club and he had ran 800 miles that year, and and he had a heart attack.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, how old was he?
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: I don't know, I can't remember.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: I just thought his poor family and poor dad sitting there waiting for the ambulance to come, yeah, holding this man's hand and you know, saying, We're getting, you know.
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: That's so crazy.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know if he died right then or if he died on the way, but um, anyway, dad was so worried about me, and I was so mad that he was asking me, and I was being stupid, but I felt bad that I was made, but yeah.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: Anyways, is you so that that's sad.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so sad.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: But you finished.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: I did, I finished.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: How'd you feel about yourself?
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: I was so that was the best moment finishing Chicago.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Best moment what going across that finish line because I had worked so hard from no running at all.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's insane.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: I think it was 12 weeks.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: So I think the 12-12 weeks is nuts for not running at all.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Well, it started out low, which is good.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Still, like they gave us this little sheet, and we would have to follow like one day we run three miles, one day we won run, the next day.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: So you know, it'd just go back and forth.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: And so it was really great.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: So it just kind of worked you up to it.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: But that's so cool though.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: Like, well, I don't know.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: I didn't know that story.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: I thought you were like a runner before then, and then yeah, that's insane.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: No, I I don't know if you remember, but we had a family reunion at Big Bear, and I had to I had to run 10 miles that night that weekend, and I had to stay on my schedule.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so I ran along the road 10 miles, and it was all by myself, and I was like, I'm gonna die.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: Anyway, I know I do remember the big bear one.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: I think that's where I my first time on a jet ski, I'm pretty sure.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Probably.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: That's all I remember about the trip.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: And then I remember um because we were like camping, right, or something.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in trailers.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: We were in a trailer, so I just remember um double bubble bubble gum.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: The yellow and blue wrappers.
- 19:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she can give them to me all the time.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Um that's so funny.
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: That's one thing I never have to worry about as a man, which I feel like.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: I just don't I mean, I like running by myself, yeah, but I don't like I mean, I didn't know where I was, I didn't know like you know what I mean.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: I it was kind of like I just had to I timed it in the car from where we were to you know five mile mark and run back.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, I I just don't like that.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: I'd rather someone like be behind me or in front of me.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: Makes sense, you know.
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: So it's so funny because like I I go up to Logan, you know, every week until September 1st, which is great.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: Um, but I'll just go and find some random route and run by myself, have no issue.
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: But like Ali, I'll talk to her and she's like, Yeah, um, I run this route and then I go this route because she like doesn't want to keep the same one because she's missed true crime and she listens to all the true crime.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: It's like people start to identify your routes.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: Um it's so funny when we used to go to the gym together at like five in the morning um before she was pregnant and everything, there was this lady who would run the same route to the gym every day, and even in like the snow, she was nuts.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, like super early, she'd get out there and do it.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: And Allie's always like, I hope she's she's not doing like she's she's okay and people aren't watching her.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: And then one day, like, we didn't see her, like for probably a week or so, or like two weeks, and Ali's like, I I wonder if she's okay.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: And then we saw her again.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: Okay, she should stop listening to True Crime.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, it's so funny.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: But hey, I'm I'm glad she was.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: Well, I think the reason part of the reason why when I was running sometimes along the canal, there was one time where I was running back home.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: I remember the story car was coming super slow and it just like tracking me as I'm running, and I called dad to come get me, and he couldn't find me.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: He was freaking out, and I was just like, it was just a freaky experience, and so I was just like, I hate this, I hate this.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: So I think that kind of I thought you were gonna say this.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: I I didn't know that story.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: I thought you were gonna say the story where you're on the canal and some guy like pointed a gun at like his finger guns at you or something.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, that was another time.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: So like I don't I don't yeah.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: So I was really happy when I got a gym membership because I was like, Yeah, this is boring, but I don't care.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: I know treadmill running's tough, but hey Well, I wasn't training for Amerathon when we got a gym membership, so treadmill running was a lot better than doing it outside.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: But much better in Arizona.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: But I used to run with our dog and he was great for a while, but then when I upped my miles, he wasn't so great.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: You couldn't handle it?
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: No, he couldn't.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: It was too hot.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: It was just too hot.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: So it was too hot for me, too, but whatever.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: What a good dog.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: I would have loved to run it.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, keep getting after it.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: But um anyway.
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: I'm jealous you got that experience with Majoris.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he was he was great.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Like he almost ripped my arm off at the beginning, but by the time the end, he was right by my side.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: So I felt better like running with him.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: I didn't it didn't scare me as much, but anyway, I'll check.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: I always feel so bad when like I'm running on a path and like I I see a woman walking by herself.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: Um I always try and give her like so much space.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I promise I am safe.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: Like just gonna keep going, I'm not gonna look at you.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: We always try and just like avoid it, but it's just yeah, um too many creeps in the world, but whatever.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: Too many creeps.
- 22:19SPEAKER_02: Uh well now you're doing something completely different, still labor-intensive.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: Still labor intensive.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: Why don't I get myself into these things?
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Like I was telling you, my cousin has been trying to get me to the airlines forever, so we could go travel together.
- 22:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: We're first cousins and she's super fun and we have so much fun together.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: And I was like, no, no, no, no, stop bugging me.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: So I was like, okay.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: And so she sent me a text and she's like, here, they're hiring.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: And I ignored it and I ignored it and I ignored it.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: And then I was talking to dad about it, and I was like, okay, I think I'm gonna do it.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: So I texted her and I was like, I think I'm gonna do it.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: And she's like, Oh, well, it closes tomorrow, so you have to send in your resume right now.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: So I had to write a resume really quick and send it in.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: And I got called back or you know, said, Yeah, join the Zoom.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: So I got hired really quick, and then um, and then I got trained, and so now I'm working at the airport doing provisions, which is stocking the planes with um soda and alcohol and treats and all that good stuff.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: All the goodies, all the goodies.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: Well, it's 140 on the tar tarmac.
- 23:26SPEAKER_02: That's insane.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was yeah, it's pretty hot.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: There's been some moments where I'm like, what am I doing?
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: But I mean, it's all the people I work with are really great and they're fun, and some of them are kind of lazy, but we just kind of try and keep them out of gear.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: But I get free flights, so it's awesome.
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: I know that is great.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: That's like the whole reason, right?
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's just like oh, that's the whole reason because they don't pay very well.
- 23:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, free flights is nuts.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: I mean we appreciate it because you're up here helping us this week.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: And then you'll be up here when Winston's born.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: Two weeks.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: Can't wait.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: I know, it's so wild.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: Um, I was gonna ask you about this.
- 24:01SPEAKER_02: So, four kids, you're training for a marathon.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: How did you balance that with kids?
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: That was hard.
- 24:06SPEAKER_02: Because that's something I gotta learn.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Well, your dad was great.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Like every time I needed to do a long run or a run, he would always I would usually wait until he got home.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: Like if I had to do long runs at night until he was home, and so and then after dinner, because it was too hot anyway.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: And so if he was home, and then on Saturdays he would just be home with you guys.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: And I would usually get home by 10 in the morning, but I guess we were kind of older by then.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: And you were a little bit older, yeah.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: But he would make you breakfast and just take care of you why you know.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: He was really supportive.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: He's great.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: He's a good dude.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: He is a good dude.
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: You gotta have him on this just solo, me and him.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: You should tell him to come up one day when Winston, when you're up here with us.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, I'm hoping he does.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: He better, he better slap around.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: He can hold Winston.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: I told him, I said, as soon as he's born, or as soon as she's almost we're going up, and we're gonna hold him.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: And then we'll go back home because it's Carmen's turn first, and then I'll come back up.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: You still have to meet my son.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: I want to meet him and hold him and snuggle and give him kisses on his neck.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: You can do whatever you want.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: I was just watching the sitcom Leanne, which is funny for my people my age.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: Leanne?
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's called Leanne on Netflix.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Anyway, she's a grandma, she's a comedian, and she has a show, but it's not like she's doing stand-up, it's just like her life, basically, but it's not really her life.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but she's like, I'm coming in for those grandma kisses, and she's kissing this newborn baby.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Oh, I can't wait.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: I know, you get two back to back.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're lucky.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: I'm so excited.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: Um, I just wish you were closer.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: But you know, I can fly up and see you whenever I want.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: Free flights.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: Even if you don't want me, I'm coming up.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: Come up.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: No, we we definitely want you.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: Um, that's one thing that like no one prepares you for is having a kid.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: No one teaches you how to do it.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: It's just like, no, I mean, some people give their advice, and honestly, I hate most people's advice.
- 25:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, especially people who are like, like, I was talking to this guy at work and it drove me crazy, and I wanted to punch him in the face.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: But he was like, Um, we were talking about running and things, and he's like, and your wife's pregnant?
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: I was like, Yeah, and he goes, You just wait, you're not gonna like babies interrupt schedules, and I was like, I know that.
- 26:16SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, I'm gonna work around it.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: That's the thing is that you, Allie, and you are you're both gonna help each other.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: Like, she'll want to work out, and you'll want to work out, and you'll just be you'll just work it out.
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we've talked about this, yeah.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: But like people don't really prepare you for like the the baby stuff.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: There's books, um, I mean, there's TikToks, all these things are like resources on what you should be doing with a kid.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: Um, but I think a lot of times you just have to figure it out, right?
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's the great thing about having helpers like your mother-in-law, and then me coming up, and you can go, well, this is how it worked for us, but you do what's best for you.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: But you're like, Oh, that's smart, or you know what I mean?
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: Or oh, I see.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: And you just learn by doing.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's and you can take all the advice in the world, but every kid is different, every pregnancy is different, every child has a different personality.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: Some kids have colic, some don't, you know, it's so it's just like you've got to just work with what you got.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: And the best thing about it, when they come little and they don't talk to you, they don't talk, I mean they don't talk back, you know, and you just have to love them.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: And then you have this extreme love for them, and then you just can figure out, oh, well, oh, that's his hungry cry.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's his, oh, I think I might have a poopy diaper.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: And sometimes you're like, I don't know why you are crying.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've changed you, I've burped you, I've you know, fed you.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: What is wrong with you?
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, stop freaking out.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: So, you know, sometimes they just want love and sometimes, you know, snuggles and and you figure it out.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: And when it's hard and you've had a hard and you can't do it, you go, here.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: That's the beauty of having a a wife or a husband that are really supportive and loving and pass them around like a football.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because then you're just like, okay, you try.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: I can't, I've done this for an hour.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: I can't try to I can't calm it down, or you know.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: And then you're like, is he sick?
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: You know, it's just like no, I know.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: That's gonna be me.
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: Like one one little thing.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: I'll be like, okay, something's wrong with him.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: But in reality, you figure it out, and then you know, and then you get another one, you're like, oh, okay, and it all comes back.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're like, you you know, figure it all out, and it's that's great.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: You get really good at juggling.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you do.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: You get you just figure it out.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: Some people have a hard time figuring it out.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: Like when I had U4, I was like, okay, I've got so much laundry and I've got so much to do.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna do laundry on Tuesday and Friday.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: And then I was like, okay, and then we'll just all clean the house together on Saturday.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: Like, so because that those kinds of things are important to me, having a clean house and not having things pile up.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: You've got to have a clean house.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: It it drives me nuts.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: I feel like that'll be easy for the first one.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: Oh, for sure.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: And you can sleep when he sleeps, like take a nap when he sleeps.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: That's the beauty of the first one.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, second one will be tough.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: When but you like it, like I said, you just figure it out.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you adapt.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: You adapt.
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: But you're gonna be a great dad, and Ellie's gonna be a great mom.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: I know she will be.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: So lucky to have you guys.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: I hope I hope.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: And he's gonna have the best grandparents.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: He is gonna have some really good grandparents.
- 29:17SPEAKER_02: I mean, for damn sure.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: Carmen's great.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: Uh we're we're pretty great.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: You guys are great.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: You guys have the grandkid parties.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I can't wait.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so uh that's one of my favorite things.
- 29:27SPEAKER_02: Is like we always talk about you guys being grandparents with other people.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: Um, and one thing that we always say is like, it's so fun because you guys are dancers, you're the party people.
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: Dad literally bought a bunch of different disco lights and things for the house.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: So when kids come over, it's it's party time.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: So, what is hilarious is we were getting together for somebody's birthday.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: I don't remember.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: No, it wasn't a birthday, it was just together.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: Huh?
- 29:54SPEAKER_02: Like a niece or nephew?
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: No, I think it was just we were having dinner together.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: I can't remember.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: It was for something, anyway.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: And um, we had the music outside just playing, and Ruth, because dad has that light up outside that he can turn on to disco and she comes in and she's like, Pa, can you turn on the light?
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: And he he forgot to turn it on.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: And she so of course he turned it on.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: She's out there by herself.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: She's out there by herself dancing.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: It was so funny.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: So I do too.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: She loves to dance.
- 30:21SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: I can't wait for little things like that with the kid.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: Like find out what they like and see.
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 30:26unknown: Yeah.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: I'd love to be a runner, but also I'm gonna let him choose his own path.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:31SPEAKER_02: That's one thing I think you guys did really well at is you didn't force anything upon us.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: It was like you choose what you want to do.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: Well, if you don't like it, you're not gonna do it.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, true.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: So you try, we had you try basketball, we had you try baseball.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: The only thing we didn't have you try volleyball, and that's what you all played.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, true.
- 30:46SPEAKER_02: I mean, it wasn't big when we were like really young, though.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: And you tried soccer, but I wouldn't let Carly try soccer, and she was very angry with me.
- 30:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Allie's a soccer player.
- 30:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I was not good.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: See, and that's the thing with Blake's kids, like Norman plays baseball, he loves it.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but he also plays football, he likes football, and James likes soccer.
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, so it's good to get him in different stuff.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you got if you like it, you'll do it.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: If you don't like it, it's like pulling teeth.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, you gotta go to practice.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's true.
- 31:13SPEAKER_02: So it's like okay.
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: That is true, especially in the heat.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: Um, what's one thing that surprised you about becoming a parent?
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: Um besides schedules and all that stuff.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: I think I think the different stages.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, you went from baby to toddler to teenager, and there were certain stages I hated.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: Like I hated I hated taking you guys off the bottle or the binky.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: You know, I hated teaching you guys how to drive.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: Why is that tough?
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: It's just because it's so sad.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 31:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because you're it's like comfort to them, and then you have to take it away, and you're just like, oh, so it just hurts my heart, you know.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: So just the driving thing just scares the crap out of me.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: I should have just sent you guys to driving school because I was just like, why am I doing this?
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: So funny, like, no shade.
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: But the difference between you and dad when you were teaching me how to drive night and day.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know you were holding onto the rail, like, oh shit, like, stop, Brad, stop.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: And then dad was like, Okay, Brad, that wasn't a good idea.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: Like, things like that.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: He was very calm.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: But he was always out of town, so I had to do it.
- 32:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's true.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: So dumb.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: That's so funny though.
- 32:22SPEAKER_02: Like, no, but I think we all had a very similar experience as kids.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: Yes, I think you did.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: Teach us how to drive.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: But I think too, it um the two things.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: The amount there's so much more joy than there is like hard.
- 32:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's hard, but you know what I mean?
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: There's there's more joy than bad.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: And um how much your heart can grow, like with each person that you love and each person that comes into your family, you just your heart gets bigger and bigger, and you have room for all of them because they're all awesome and they have their own personalities and they all bring something to your family.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: It's just it's amazing.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: It's a great thing.
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: That was pretty cool.
- 33:01SPEAKER_02: What would you say my personality is compared to the rest of the family?
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: Um, you are very task-oriented.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: Yes, you were from day one.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: Um, you were, I used to remember when you were 10 and we ran that 3K?
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, in the Freestone Park.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: Freestone Park, and you booked it.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: And I said to myself, he's gonna be a runner.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: And then you never did track, you never did anything.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: I was like, I got really fast.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, I guess I was wrong.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: And then now you're like this super crazy runny runner guy.
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: I'm not crazy, but I do like to run.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: You were all you were a very obedient child.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: I never had to tell you to do your homework, I never had to tell you to do your chores.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: I just gave you your chores and you did them.
- 33:42SPEAKER_02: Well, that's the benefit of having older siblings because they say, No, I'm not gonna do it, and then I watch what happens when they don't.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: And it's like, okay, well, I don't want that.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: Sorry, you don't get to go play because you didn't do your chair chores.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna do this simple addition.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: I think it's super important to start because it chores like little chores, you know, at three.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: You know, where they can understand, like, okay, you have to pick up your let's pick up your toys now.
- 34:02SPEAKER_00: Or, you know, when they're four, even like Ellie and Maggie love to take out the trash and help me take stuff in the house.
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: And I mean, they want to help you with three, they don't want to help you with 12.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: But I really like I've I've been seeing this thing where like some parents will be like, okay, like you're gonna help us cook dinner, and they'll do like something so small.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: Like they have a really like a child safety knife and they like cut a cucumber or something like that, but like really small tasks, or they stir the noodles.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: I think it's super important.
- 34:31SPEAKER_02: Like, I want to get Winston doing that as soon as you can.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: Because like our cousin.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, or your cousin.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Anyway, his mom did that with all his all her boys because she had a lot of boys, and he knows how to make bread and pizza, and he is a really good cook because I feel like I get that from you though, because you and I would cook all the time.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: And now I know your cookie recipe, I know your cookie recipe by heart and at church.
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: You want me to call it out?
- 34:57SPEAKER_03: No.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: Two and a half, I will.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: Two, two and a quarter cup of flour, um, three quarter cup sugar, three quarter cup of brown sugar, teaspoon of vanilla, teaspoon of salt, teaspoon of baking powder, baking soda.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: Sorry, baking soda.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: Baking soda, not powder.
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: Um, a bag of milk chocolate chocolate chips.
- 35:18SPEAKER_02: Uh Allie likes semi-sweet, which is disgrace.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: Um, two sticks of butter.
- 35:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that's it.
- 35:27SPEAKER_03: That's it.
- 35:27SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: That's pretty good.
- 35:29SPEAKER_02: If you need a cookie recipe, do it.
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: They're delicious.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: I brought it to a bunch of people at church and everyone said that they were fantastic.
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the milk chocolate chips is a game changer.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 35:38SPEAKER_02: I do love milk chocolate.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, the semi-sweeter is still good.
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: It's still a good recipe for semi-sweet.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: It's just semi-okay.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: It's semi-bowed.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: Or you can add half Reese's chips, Reese's peanut butter cut chips.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: And half milk chocolate chips, and that's pretty tasty too.
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: That sounds pretty good, actually.
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna have to try that.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're gonna have to try it because it's delicious.
- 35:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: Maybe take those to church and see what they say.
- 36:00SPEAKER_02: They'll probably, yeah, really appreciate our presence there.
- 36:03SPEAKER_02: They'll say, hey, I'm so glad you're in the ward.
- 36:06SPEAKER_02: They'll become really good friends with us and want them every week.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: Which makes sense.
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: Um, speaking of church, I know like I know the importance of having God in a marriage.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: I know the importance of like including Him and like our decisions together, praying together as a couple, um studying, all those things.
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: But as a parent, what role does God play in your life?
- 36:30SPEAKER_02: Or like in your motherhood?
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: As a for me, fatherhood.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: Um Does that make sense?
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, for sure.
- 36:37SPEAKER_00: Well, I think you need God in all aspects of your life.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: Um I agree.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: When you're raising your kids, you need to teach your kids about Him that He can help you through all these things, you know, that you need.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: It's that's so just doing little things like praying and singing church songs and you know, building their testimonies, but like me, I could not have survived any of you guys without God and constant prayer and you know, constantly praying for your kids and help me know what to do with this situation.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: I do have no idea what I'm doing.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: And and then you get advice from people that have been through things that are is helpful, but you have to make it fit whatever experience that you're going through, you know.
- 37:27SPEAKER_00: But the advice is, you know, good.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: But I yeah, daily prayer, um staying close to him is is very important, I think.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: Because you also, you know, I don't know, you have this intuition too that you know that will help you that guide you.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, like my mom um had an impression that I needed she needed to go check the street when I was two.
- 37:54SPEAKER_00: And I had to run into this, I had gotten out and run into the street and the car was coming, and the car saw her, but he didn't see me.
- 38:01SPEAKER_02: That's so good.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: So yeah, so he would so things like that.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: I think it helps you keep in tune, like, okay, oh, listening, you know, yeah, for sure.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, it's I think it's super important.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: I think people that don't know that there's a God, it it's harder for them to get through hard things because life is hard and everybody's gonna go through hard things.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: And I think um it's easier when you have someone that has your back, basically.
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: True.
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: So who knows a lot more than you do.
- 38:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: And knows knows the path and stuff anyway.
- 38:39SPEAKER_02: But that's one thing I'm really interested to to see because like Allie and I, I feel like we're both very close with God.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: He's obviously like involved in our marriage.
- 38:51SPEAKER_02: Um, but as a dad, like I I really wonder what that's gonna feel like.
- 38:57unknown: Yeah.
- 38:57SPEAKER_02: I'm sure it'll be different in some ways.
- 38:59SPEAKER_02: And um like also, you know, praying for strength, because I'm I'm sure, especially within the first couple months, like everyone says that's the newborn trenches or whatever.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: Um which I I saw some guy who's like, I call it the newborn bubble because the trenches just sounds negative.
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it does sound negative.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: I like bubble better.
- 39:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's like okay, that's not bad.
- 39:20SPEAKER_02: Um, but like during those hard months, like I'm gonna have to, you know, care for a little baby, provide for the the kid, provide for my wife, take care of her.
- 39:30SPEAKER_02: Um like I'm I'm it could be overwhelming.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm expecting to be overwhelmed, but yeah, you're gonna be tired.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: You're gonna be tired for the next 50 years.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: How long have I been a mom?
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: 37 years.
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: 37 years.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: I'm still tired.
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: Your baby's turning 30 next year.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: That's crazy.
- 39:49SPEAKER_02: And you're only 40, which is wild.
- 39:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, how did that happen?
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: No, I yeah, I think it's very important.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: And you know, all I'm gonna say is give them a binky in the hospital, okay?
- 40:02SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 40:03SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 40:03SPEAKER_02: How come?
- 40:05SPEAKER_02: Because some people are saying it's bad for breastfeeding.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: No, all of you had binkies, and I breastfed all of you.
- 40:12SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: It's a game changer.
- 40:15SPEAKER_02: See, those are all the advice things I get mixed up.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, I yeah, every everybody has an opinion, but just try it.
- 40:20SPEAKER_00: He might not like it.
- 40:21SPEAKER_00: Like some babies don't like binkies, but it it does soothe them.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: Soothe them.
- 40:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:27SPEAKER_02: If he's anything like Winston Churchill, he'll he'll want a cigar.
- 40:30SPEAKER_00: No, no cigars.
- 40:32SPEAKER_00: Nana will not allow cigars.
- 40:33SPEAKER_02: Which by the way, um, for Halloween, we think we he might be Winston Churchill.
- 40:39SPEAKER_02: And I did say, like, if he has a little binky, I'll take like a toilet paper roll.
- 40:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, get it wet and make it look like a cigar.
- 40:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, there you go.
- 40:46SPEAKER_02: Tape it to the binky.
- 40:48SPEAKER_00: So you'll just get some brown construction paper and then burn the edges or either way, or make it that.
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: I think that'd be hilarious.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, that'd be so funny.
- 40:55SPEAKER_02: And then Allie's like, I could be a cigar and you could be a bottle of alcohol.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: And I was like, that's a great idea.
- 41:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: Our other idea.
- 41:03SPEAKER_00: I think you should just be a pumpkin or something.
- 41:05SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 41:05SPEAKER_02: We also talked about we're astronauts and he's an alien, which I'm kind of fun.
- 41:08SPEAKER_02: That's cute.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: Um, but the other Winston Churchill ideas I have to tell you off camera because they're a little offensive.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: Um don't you dare grant dress my grandson up in something offensive.
- 41:20SPEAKER_02: No, no, he's he'd be Winston Churchill.
- 41:22SPEAKER_02: We'd be the offensive person.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's okay.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: No.
- 41:25SPEAKER_02: Um trying to think of the other ones we thought of.
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: I mean, we were thinking like Scooby-Doo, but Scooby-Doo's so cute.
- 41:31SPEAKER_02: I know, but we can't be Daphne and Fred.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: Why not?
- 41:34SPEAKER_02: Because Shaggy's his best friend.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: So, but Daphne and Fred are like I know.
- 41:39SPEAKER_00: They're still in the group.
- 41:40SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 41:41SPEAKER_02: What else do we think about?
- 41:43SPEAKER_02: Um, he's a cowboy.
- 41:46SPEAKER_02: I'm a horse, and Allie's uh a cow because she's the milk.
- 41:50unknown: Oh god.
- 41:52SPEAKER_02: We think that would be pretty good.
- 41:54SPEAKER_00: That would be pretty good though.
- 41:56SPEAKER_02: Uh what was the other one that I thought of?
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: I thought was pretty funny.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: So are you gonna take him trick-or-treating?
- 42:02SPEAKER_02: I mean, we're gonna be up in Logan, so that's cute.
- 42:05SPEAKER_02: It might be really cold, but it might be really cold.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: But you know, you put him in a little I don't know, you gotta do something with the do you have one of those baby hoops?
- 42:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we got a baby carrier.
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's good.
- 42:15SPEAKER_02: Um he also might be a rat.
- 42:17unknown: Oh.
- 42:17SPEAKER_02: And then we're the chefs.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: Well, that's easy to add a two-y.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's too though.
- 42:23SPEAKER_00: That'd be kind of fun.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: That'd be cute.
- 42:24SPEAKER_02: I'd like to be a rat.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: I was a rat in high school.
- 42:28SPEAKER_00: You were a rat in high school.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, anyways, random tangent.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: But uh Halloween tangent.
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: Halloween tangent.
- 42:35SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be fun.
- 42:36SPEAKER_00: It will be fun.
- 42:37SPEAKER_02: Although he's gonna be two months old, so he's gonna be so tiny.
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:39SPEAKER_02: He's gonna be a floppy baby too.
- 42:41SPEAKER_00: But he'll be smiling.
- 42:42SPEAKER_02: Will he be smiling at two months?
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's good.
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: Will he be a little bit more sturdy at Christmas time?
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: He'll be four months.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: So September, October, three months.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: December he'll be four months.
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, I guess that's true, huh?
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: Well, it depends on when he's born.
- 42:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: If he's born at the end of September, then it'll be three months, but at the beginning, middle, it'll be about three and a half, four.
- 43:04SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be so much fun.
- 43:06SPEAKER_02: Little chunky baby.
- 43:07SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 43:07SPEAKER_02: I can't wait.
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: But yeah, it's weird.
- 43:10SPEAKER_02: Um I told you this yesterday, but I'll tell you again.
- 43:14SPEAKER_02: Uh, because everyone should hear this.
- 43:17SPEAKER_02: Um when I was growing up, you're always like, and I don't remember why we had this conversation, but you said one day you will call me and you will say I think I was mad at you.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: You might have been.
- 43:29SPEAKER_02: But one day you'll call me and you'll say how grateful you are that I took care of you, I raised you, and all these things.
- 43:36SPEAKER_02: And watching Allie go through pregnancy and like seeing the things that she struggles with, or um how like last night she couldn't sleep at all.
- 43:44SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 43:44SPEAKER_02: Like all these things that she goes through to bring life into the world, and then soon enough she's literally gonna her body's gonna change so much where she can push life through her body.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: That's the that's the biggest miracle right there.
- 43:56SPEAKER_02: It's unbelievable.
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: It is, and like watching her go through this process.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: It's just like you are sacrificing yourself for for 18 years until they're out of the house, really.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:09SPEAKER_02: Um, but then it doesn't stop after that.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: Like you're my mom, you still help me with things, and I'm 20, almost 29.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: Um It's because we love you.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: It's just that's why I feel it's just a different relative.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: Women are superheroes.
- 44:21SPEAKER_02: That's what Jace last week on the podcast was saying was like they are superhuman.
- 44:26SPEAKER_02: Just the fact that they can create life and then bounce back and do all these different things to take care of that child is really amazing.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: Sweet of you to say.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: I just can't wait to see that.
- 44:35SPEAKER_00: I think you were a teenager when I said that to you, and you were being a little turd.
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: Probably you weren't a little turd very often.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: But sometimes you could be a turd.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: And so I think I said that to you.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: Someday you're gonna call me.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're gonna call me, you're gonna cry all the time.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: You're gonna say, Mom, you're the best.
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, that's true.
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: I think you were mad at me at something.
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't remember, but that's funny that you remember that.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: I do, I remember it very well.
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: Uh but no, it's it really is amazing to see.
- 45:01SPEAKER_02: And like I think what I try and do with getting after it, like running like a 50 mile races or whatever that I have coming up in April.
- 45:08SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, I think that's pretty cool.
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:12SPEAKER_02: But it is nothing compared to what women do.
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: No, it's hard what you do too.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, but it's not carrying a baby for nine months and then delivering the child.
- 45:20SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 45:21SPEAKER_02: My training plan is probably like three months.
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: So the reason men don't deliver children is because they're all babies when they get sick.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:28SPEAKER_00: Just kidding.
- 45:29SPEAKER_00: You're not, but there's some guys that are just like Oh no, you ask Allie.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: I just want I just want to cuddle and eat tomato soup.
- 45:35SPEAKER_02: Like, put on a show, please.
- 45:37SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: Please come rub my head.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: I told Allie, I was like, I couldn't be pregnant for the fact with like body changes because I've had body dysmorphia for a while.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: It's like I don't I couldn't do that.
- 45:50SPEAKER_02: Like watch myself change that much.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: Like, you guys are amazing.
- 45:53SPEAKER_00: Well, you're very sweet to your wife to keep telling her she looks beautiful because she does.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: She looks so good, and that's important.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: Dad always, no matter how big I got, and I think I got the biggest with you.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: I was like You're welcome.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I won't tell you how much I weighed, but I mean he was always sweet.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: He's always like, You look so beautiful, and I would be like, Oh I'm telling you, she's got a pregnancy glow.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: She does, and I like it.
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: She's so pretty.
- 46:17SPEAKER_02: I was having this conversation before.
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: Um, I think you were downstairs doing something, and she was standing in the kitchen.
- 46:23SPEAKER_02: I was like, I'm gonna miss that belly.
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 46:25SPEAKER_02: It's like but it'll come around again.
- 46:27SPEAKER_00: It'll come around again.
- 46:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it'll works out.
- 46:29SPEAKER_00: That's the best part about having more kids.
- 46:31SPEAKER_02: I know, yeah.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: Doesn't stop.
- 46:33SPEAKER_02: Um, this is just the training practice.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:35SPEAKER_02: Or the training round.
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: But yeah.
- 46:38SPEAKER_00: You're gonna be great.
- 46:38SPEAKER_00: You guys are gonna be great.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: Have complete faith.
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: Me too.
- 46:42SPEAKER_02: I think we'll we'll be okay.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: But you know you're good humans and you're gonna raise a good human.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: It's because we were raised by good humans, and you're one of them.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: That's sweet of you.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: It's it's nice to see, you know, you got all you all your brothers and everybody just are good people, and their kids are good kids.
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: It is it's super weird.
- 47:01SPEAKER_02: Like we're in the phase now where it's like, you know, I was going to my grandparents' house, all the cousins came, and now it's like I'm in the phase where I'm bringing my kids to my mom's house, who's their grandparents.
- 47:14SPEAKER_02: It's just it's just crazy.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: Like I know it's just shifts.
- 47:18SPEAKER_00: It does, it's crazy.
- 47:19SPEAKER_02: It doesn't seem like it was that long ago where we were doing all that stuff, so it's true, super weird, but yeah.
- 47:24SPEAKER_00: And and what's crazy too is that you can take a four-generation picture.
- 47:29SPEAKER_02: True, yeah.
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: With grandads still alive, you know.
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have a five generation with my grandma.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: That's pretty cool, and my granddaughter.
- 47:38SPEAKER_02: I don't have any great greats left.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: Nope.
- 47:41SPEAKER_00: But you have greats.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: Well, they will have your child will have greats.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:45SPEAKER_02: So that'll be cool.
- 47:46SPEAKER_02: I didn't think about the granddad one.
- 47:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:48SPEAKER_02: That'll be sweet.
- 47:49SPEAKER_02: But uh sweet.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're one of the best examples of getting after it.
- 47:54SPEAKER_00: So you're sweet.
- 47:55SPEAKER_00: I I can't sit still.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: I think it's an issue.
- 47:58SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: Well, your dad calls me OC Dina.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: So O C Dina.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: Like I said, you need to be able to do it.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: Where would the badge of pride?
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, I totally do.
- 48:05SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I can't, I can't.
- 48:07SPEAKER_00: Not a pride badge, but yeah.
- 48:09SPEAKER_00: No, I'm just kidding.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: Badge of pride.
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 48:11SPEAKER_00: No, I just yeah, I can't sit still.
- 48:13SPEAKER_02: So, but yeah, you know, that's it's just really cool.
- 48:17SPEAKER_02: Like, you don't stop.
- 48:18SPEAKER_02: You work hard, and you're the best example of that, I think, in my life.
- 48:21SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: That's very nice of you to say.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: It's the truth.
- 48:23SPEAKER_02: I do my best.
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I'm tired though.
- 48:27SPEAKER_02: We all do, we all get there.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: Um, anything else you want to say?
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: No.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: Thanks for having me.
- 48:33SPEAKER_02: Um, you're always welcome on.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: It's always fun.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: I'm kind of boring, but no, it's kind of cool because now that when Winston's bored and he's of age where he understands words, um, he can listen to his dad and his grandma talk.
- 48:45SPEAKER_02: Oh, true for a while.
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 48:47SPEAKER_02: So it's pretty cool.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: He'll probably be like, This is boring, dad.
- 48:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, until he's like 25, and then he's like, Okay, that's kind of cool.
- 48:53SPEAKER_02: That's kind of cool.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think I'll keep it.
- 48:55SPEAKER_02: He's doing family history, and he's like, Oh, dad had a podcast.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, grandma was on it.
- 48:58SPEAKER_02: What?
- 48:58SPEAKER_02: That's pretty cool.
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: A few times.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: Grandma was so cool.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: I was getting away.
- 49:03SPEAKER_02: She ran a marathon.
- 49:04SPEAKER_02: She never ran before.
- 49:06SPEAKER_02: That is pretty cool.
- 49:07SPEAKER_00: That's stupid.
- 49:08SPEAKER_02: She ran a business for nine years.
- 49:10SPEAKER_02: You're nice.
- 49:11SPEAKER_00: You're just too sweet to me.
- 49:12SPEAKER_02: No, that's too sweet to me.
- 49:14SPEAKER_02: It's legit.
- 49:14SPEAKER_02: Everyone in the comments say Dina's the best.
- 49:16SPEAKER_00: Yes, please say it.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, do I'm just kidding.
- 49:19SPEAKER_02: But no, you're always welcome on.
- 49:20SPEAKER_02: I love you.
- 49:21SPEAKER_02: Love you.
- 49:22SPEAKER_02: You're the best.
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: Thanks.
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: Everyone else, thank you so much for listening.
- 49:25SPEAKER_00: And keep getting after it.
- 49:27SPEAKER_02: Boom.
- 49:27SPEAKER_02: That thank you, mom.
