Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Training Camp Cast. The Patriots Training

Speaker 1: Camp Cast is your source for all the news from
• 0:12
Speaker 1: Patriots training Camp. Well, I do still watch the news.
• 0:15
Speaker 1: Practice is over, but the writers of Patriots dot com
• 0:18
Speaker 1: have you covered? What did I miss yesterday? Now here
• 0:20
Speaker 1: to review today's practice The writers of Patriots dot Com, Well, guys,
• 0:24
Speaker 1: we did it. We made it through Patriots training camp
• 0:27
Speaker 1: here at Jillette Stadium, with the final joint practice with
• 0:30
Speaker 1: the Carolina Panthers wrapping up today on Wednesday, which will
• 0:33
Speaker 1: conclude open access here Achilette Stadium from Patriots training Camp.
• 0:37
Speaker 1: But we are here to recap what happened in the
• 0:39
Speaker 1: final day of joint practices. This is Mike doussou joined
• 0:42
Speaker 1: by Paul Parillo, Evan Lazar Patriots dot Com. We've been
• 0:45
Speaker 1: here for three weeks, guys. We watched plenty of football yesterday.
• 0:48
Speaker 1: The Patriots really seem to have a great day, especially
• 0:51
Speaker 1: defensively they carried to play today. Paul, it feels like
• 0:54
Speaker 1: things kind of maybe regressed a little bit more towards
• 0:56
Speaker 1: the mean. Better day for the Panthers made things a
• 0:59
Speaker 1: little bit harder for the page treats offense. Yeah, and
• 1:01
Speaker 1: I don't think the Patriots were bad by any means today,
• 1:03
Speaker 1: but I thought it was a little bit more even.
• 1:04
Speaker 1: I thought there was some plays made on both sides.
• 1:06
Speaker 1: It started really with the one on ones before they
• 1:09
Speaker 1: even got into team. I thought the defensive backs on
• 1:12
Speaker 1: both sides were getting their hands on a lot of
• 1:14
Speaker 1: the passes. There was some ficiness again, unfortunately, some guys
• 1:19
Speaker 1: left practice early for the second day in a row.
• 1:22
Speaker 1: But I thought overall, Carolina was much much more competitive
• 1:25
Speaker 1: today than they were on Tuesday. Yeah, it looks you know,
• 1:28
Speaker 1: keep an eye on Christian Wilkerson. He took a kind
• 1:30
Speaker 1: of it looked like a blindside hit and during drills
• 1:32
Speaker 1: and did not return. I only saw him, unfortunately, on
• 1:36
Speaker 1: the ground, so we of course hoped that that he's
• 1:38
Speaker 1: all right. A couple more guys were tossed again today,
• 1:40
Speaker 1: but they were able to rectify the situation and get
• 1:43
Speaker 1: practice back on track without any further issues. Having one
• 1:47
Speaker 1: guy for me that stood out today if Nelson Agilore
• 1:49
Speaker 1: had a beautiful catch, three guys around him another strong
• 1:53
Speaker 1: day for him, Who in your book stood out today?
• 1:56
Speaker 1: I was gonna go Nelson at it beat me to it.
• 2:00
Speaker 1: I thought the first one was a nice ball from
• 2:03
Speaker 1: Mac and he's created some separation. In the second one,
• 2:05
Speaker 1: like you said, there's three guys in the area and
• 2:08
Speaker 1: he was able to come away with the football somehow.
• 2:09
Speaker 1: I think there's been a lot of speculation that Nelson
• 2:13
Speaker 1: Aglare might be a trade asset, somebody that they might
• 2:15
Speaker 1: move because Taykwon Thornton has excelled it so far in
• 2:19
Speaker 1: training camp, and I think that's really premature. I would
• 2:22
Speaker 1: be careful about moving on from Aglare. I don't think
• 2:24
Speaker 1: that the Patriots are in a position yet at wide
• 2:27
Speaker 1: receiver where they have enough NFL talent that shipping out
• 2:31
Speaker 1: an actual NFL receiver is in a spot. They're not
• 2:34
Speaker 1: in that spot of the right. So Nelson Aglare is
• 2:37
Speaker 1: clearly an NFL receiver you can go out in games
• 2:39
Speaker 1: and in practices and make plays in the passing game,
• 2:43
Speaker 1: and I would just be wary of moving on from that,
• 2:45
Speaker 1: especially with DeVante Parker's injury history, the fact that Tayklon
• 2:48
Speaker 1: Thornton is a rookie. I think Aglare is going to
• 2:51
Speaker 1: be in the mix, and I love the fact that
• 2:52
Speaker 1: they keep on throwing him slot fades and fade routes
• 2:55
Speaker 1: from more condensed alignment so that he's not just stuck
• 2:59
Speaker 1: on the boundary all the time. I think those are
• 3:01
Speaker 1: good throws for Mac and I think that they create
• 3:03
Speaker 1: a little bit more separation that way. No, Paul not,
• 3:05
Speaker 1: I wan't to talk a little bit of the run game.
• 3:06
Speaker 1: I mean, Patriots offense continues to you know, not quite
• 3:09
Speaker 1: look like it's all clicking on all centers in the
• 3:11
Speaker 1: run game, and today it looked like Carolina had a
• 3:13
Speaker 1: better day in the run game as well. Of course,
• 3:15
Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey plays a role in that he's a dynamic
• 3:18
Speaker 1: NFL player, But overall, what you're feeling on the run game,
• 3:22
Speaker 1: both sides of the ball coming out of this, uh yeah,
• 3:25
Speaker 1: I'm just watching. There's some opportunity stuff still going on
• 3:28
Speaker 1: in the field as we're as we're taping the podcast here,
• 3:32
Speaker 1: and I do I do agree the running game is
• 3:35
Speaker 1: still a work in progress. I think that was the
• 3:38
Speaker 1: phrase I used yesterday when I wrote about it, and
• 3:40
Speaker 1: I think Damian Harris had talked about it in similar tones.
• 3:44
Speaker 1: After practice with very few exceptions, guys that they really
• 3:48
Speaker 1: haven't been very many holes. You know, you see, there
• 3:51
Speaker 1: are times when you know, maybe a little little toss,
• 3:54
Speaker 1: you know, looking for a crack on the edge where
• 3:56
Speaker 1: they might you know, they might have had. I thought
• 3:58
Speaker 1: they had a push on one top today to Damian Harris.
• 4:01
Speaker 1: That probably would have been a four or five yard game,
• 4:03
Speaker 1: you know, So good solid production there. But for the
• 4:05
Speaker 1: most part, I think that's still coming. And you did
• 4:08
Speaker 1: see for the first time I think in camp I
• 4:11
Speaker 1: thought you saw some signs that the Patriots were a
• 4:13
Speaker 1: little vulnerable on some of the running plays today that
• 4:16
Speaker 1: Carolina ran, both with Deonta Foreman and obviously with Christian McCaffrey. Well,
• 4:21
Speaker 1: these two teams aren't done yet. They will take the
• 4:22
Speaker 1: field here Gillette Stadium seven pm on Friday night for
• 4:25
Speaker 1: the Patriots second preseason game. Should be something to watch.
• 4:30
Speaker 1: Fastiness of these two and it does sound like the
• 4:32
Speaker 1: Patriots starters are gonna get some run in that game.
• 4:35
Speaker 1: So I think it's gonna be a little bit more
• 4:38
Speaker 1: of the ones than what we saw. Certainly no ones
• 4:41
Speaker 1: really last in the openers, so I think we're gonna
• 4:44
Speaker 1: see some some mac Jones drives on Friday night. Well,
• 4:47
Speaker 1: it was a productive two days of a practice. Maybe
• 4:49
Speaker 1: a few more fights than we would have liked, but
• 4:51
Speaker 1: overall got a really good glimpse of what the Patriots
• 4:53
Speaker 1: have been working on and how it's starting to come together.
• 4:55
Speaker 1: Of course, that'll continue next week and to join practices
• 4:58
Speaker 1: in Las Vegas against the Race and then the final
• 5:01
Speaker 1: preseason game against the Raiders that Friday night as well.
• 5:04
Speaker 1: So that'll do it for this week's campcast. We will
• 5:07
Speaker 1: be back next week with a campcast for you from
• 5:10
Speaker 1: Las Vegas. Let you know what happened out there, But
