Speaker 1: Tom Holman, Christine Home.
• 0:03
Speaker 2: Our people that have been incredible the job they've done,
• 0:06
Speaker 2: and they take nothing but abuse, but you know, they're
• 0:09
  Speaker 2: sort of pretty.
• 0:10
Speaker 1: Hardened to that, I think because they know they're doing
• 0:12
  Speaker 1: the right thing.
• 0:13
Speaker 2: It just amazes me that there's not more support out there.
• 0:16
Speaker 2: It's just we actually have the silent support.
• 0:20
Speaker 1: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
• 0:24
Speaker 2: It's Stay the Union Day in America. Nice to have
• 0:26
Speaker 2: you with us on the forty seven Morning Update. And
• 0:29
Speaker 2: Donald Trump is aiming to sell his first year successes
• 0:33
Speaker 2: in a crucial address to Congress ahead of the midterms.
• 0:37
Speaker 2: So what is the President going to talk about and
• 0:39
Speaker 2: what are the accomplishments that the media doesn't want you
• 0:42
Speaker 2: to know about. I'll break it all down for you
• 0:44
Speaker 2: right now, live from Washington, d C. It's the forty
• 0:47
Speaker 2: seven Morning Update and it starts right.
• 0:49
Speaker 1: Now story number one.
• 0:51
Speaker 2: As I'm here in Washington, d C. For the Stay
• 0:53
Speaker 2: of the Union. One of the fun things that happens
• 0:56
Speaker 2: before the State of the Union is the briefings that
• 0:58
Speaker 2: you receive. And I have the opportunity to sit down
• 1:01
Speaker 2: for breakfast with Speaker Mike Johnson, Mike Johnson talked a
• 1:05
Speaker 2: lot about what had been accomplished in the last year
• 1:08
Speaker 2: under the leadership of President Trump, especially having a one
• 1:12
Speaker 2: vote majority in the House and a slim majority in
• 1:16
Speaker 2: the Senate. What they've been able to do is truly unbelievable.
• 1:20
Speaker 2: But the President has got to convince Americans on Tuesday
• 1:23
Speaker 2: Night of one major thing that you're better off now
• 1:27
Speaker 2: because he's in office than if he wasn't in office.
• 1:31
Speaker 2: And that means come the mid terms, if you want
• 1:33
Speaker 2: the Trump doctrine of America First to continue, you've got
• 1:37
Speaker 2: to stand up and support and show up to vote
• 1:41
Speaker 2: for conservative candidates that Trump has endorsed. Now a lot
• 1:45
Speaker 2: of people are asking what is going to be in
• 1:47
Speaker 2: the state of the Union. That's exactly the question that
• 1:49
Speaker 2: I asked Speaker Johnson as well as the Treasury Secretary
• 1:53
Speaker 2: of Scott Besson on Sunday as I was meeting with him.
• 1:56
Speaker 2: And here's what I have for you. Number One on
• 2:00
Speaker 2: the present's going to be talking about the economy. In jobs,
• 2:03
Speaker 2: Donald Trump will put economic performance front and center, calling
• 2:07
Speaker 2: the US economy strong, booming, and growing better than before.
• 2:11
Speaker 2: He's expected to highlight his tax cuts, his wage increases,
• 2:16
Speaker 2: also consumer price trends, as well as American job growth.
• 2:21
Speaker 2: He'll also frame much of his agenda around continued economic
• 2:25
Speaker 2: expansion and lower costs for Americans. Part of that comes
• 2:29
Speaker 2: from no tax on tips and no tax on overtime
• 2:33
Speaker 2: that has just become a reality in this country. The
• 2:36
Speaker 2: President will also spend a significant amount of time talking
• 2:39
Speaker 2: about your safety. That includes the major issue of border
• 2:43
Speaker 2: security and immigration. Border security and immigration control is going
• 2:48
Speaker 2: to be a large part of the focus of the
• 2:51
Speaker 2: president's words. Trump is likely to tout the reduction illegal crossings,
• 2:55
Speaker 2: which have virtually gone to zero, as well as stricter
• 2:58
Speaker 2: enforcement policy, while arguing this approach protects American jobs and
• 3:04
Speaker 2: also national security. Oddly enough, with the recent cartel explosion
• 3:09
Speaker 2: of violence in Mexico, there may be no better time
• 3:12
Speaker 2: for the President to remind the American people of what
• 3:15
Speaker 2: our secure borders are now keeping out. And then we'll
• 3:19
Speaker 2: talk about trade and tariffs. He is expected to defend
• 3:24
Speaker 2: his aggressive tariff strategy, which clearly has worked significantly promoting
• 3:29
Speaker 2: American manufacturing and trade fairness, despite his recent challenges of
• 3:34
Speaker 2: the Supreme Court. Trade policy will be framed as part
• 3:38
Speaker 2: of building his national economic strength for all Americans. Foreign
• 3:44
Speaker 2: policy and national security will be one in one I
• 3:47
Speaker 2: being told from Speaker Johnson as well as the President
• 3:50
Speaker 2: will likely touch on not only foreign policy, but global
• 3:53
Speaker 2: positioning and national security, especially concerning tensions in the Middle
• 3:58
Speaker 2: eastrategic competition with global rivals including China and Russia, and
• 4:05
Speaker 2: using international developments as evidence of American strength. There's also
• 4:11
Speaker 2: expected to be emphasis on crime reduction in this country,
• 4:15
Speaker 2: the President making it clear that even if you're in
• 4:17
Speaker 2: a liberal city, you deserve to be safe. The President
• 4:20
Speaker 2: has done a significant amount to reduce crime in places
• 4:23
Speaker 2: like Washington, d C. And Memphis, Tennessee, Saint Louis, Chicago,
• 4:28
Speaker 2: and the list continues to grow. There's also going to
• 4:32
Speaker 2: be discussions about healthcare and the proposals, as well as
• 4:36
Speaker 2: prescription drug affordability and new initiatives to lower costs for families.
• 4:42
Speaker 2: Republican leaders want focus on affordability issues that voters care
• 4:47
Speaker 2: about the most. Now. Trump's speech will also serve as
• 4:51
Speaker 2: a clear message on the midterms, which I mentioned a
• 4:54
Speaker 2: moment ago. The President understands that essentially this this is
• 5:00
Speaker 2: a rallying narrative for Republicans and reminding voters of what
• 5:05
Speaker 2: is on the ballot come this November, as early voting
• 5:09
Speaker 2: has already started in many of the primaries. It's clear
• 5:12
Speaker 2: that Americans are thinking about all of these things, and
• 5:15
Speaker 2: what the President has to do is remind voters of
• 5:17
Speaker 2: his priorities and the framing of what happens if Republicans
• 5:21
Speaker 2: lose the House or the Senate. Now there are also
• 5:25
Speaker 2: just the big accomplishments that the President will be able
• 5:28
Speaker 2: to talk about. Much of this the media refuses to discuss.
• 5:33
Speaker 2: Real GDP growth is surged. Jobs has also outpaced the
• 5:37
Speaker 2: gains in twenty twenty five, with strong job report coming in.
• 5:42
Speaker 2: Blue collar wages saw significant increases, and workers' real earnings
• 5:47
Speaker 2: have also grown. The President also can tout his real
• 5:52
Speaker 2: tax reform with the Trump tax cuts making those earlier
• 5:56
Speaker 2: cuts permanent. Creating Trump accounts for newborns will also be
• 6:00
Speaker 2: selling the president. We'll talk about setting up the next
• 6:03
Speaker 2: generation for financial success in a major way and having
• 6:08
Speaker 2: those Trump accounts actually have real deposits put in them
• 6:11
Speaker 2: day one. The President will also talk about what's about
• 6:14
Speaker 2: to happen for so many Americans that work for tips
• 6:17
Speaker 2: and those that work in overtime. That was a policy
• 6:21
Speaker 2: agenda item that started yes last year, but after it
• 6:25
Speaker 2: was passed, it didn't actually get enacted until this year,
• 6:29
Speaker 2: meaning now is the first time people are really seeing
• 6:31
Speaker 2: the difference in their paychecks. And then there's regulatory changes
• 6:36
Speaker 2: that are aimed at supporting economic activity and innovation. Some
• 6:39
Speaker 2: of those are going to make cars actually cheaper for Americans.
• 6:43
Speaker 2: The President touting that that automatic on off start on
• 6:47
Speaker 2: your car, that was bureaucrats just making the costs of
• 6:50
Speaker 2: your car go up, and it also did serious damage
• 6:53
Speaker 2: to your engine over the long term. Well, that's no
• 6:56
Speaker 2: longer a mandate under the Trump administration, the presence saying
• 7:00
Speaker 2: regulations are killing American jobs and also making Americans have
• 7:04
Speaker 2: to pay way too much for basic things like a car.
• 7:08
Speaker 2: Then the President will obviously talk about the success of
• 7:11
Speaker 2: the southern border. What the President was able to do
• 7:13
Speaker 2: in the first year is truly unbelievable. With the major
• 7:17
Speaker 2: immigration crackdown and self deportations now into the millions and
• 7:20
Speaker 2: millions of illegals that have left on their own. We
• 7:24
Speaker 2: also know that the President is also tightening asylum rules
• 7:28
Speaker 2: and deportations are expected to be at a record high
• 7:31
Speaker 2: this year as well. Now implementation of high tariffs on
• 7:35
Speaker 2: import of goods to protect US manufacturing and reduce trade deficits.
• 7:40
Speaker 2: That is generating substantial tariff revenue, something the President will
• 7:44
Speaker 2: talk about, even though the Supreme Court struck down part
• 7:48
Speaker 2: of what he was actually able to accomplish. Foreign policy
• 7:52
Speaker 2: and security, the increased sanctions the President has put on,
• 7:55
Speaker 2: many rogue regimes and strategic designations against hostile enemies, and
• 8:00
Speaker 2: foreign policy actions demonstrating America resolve, including declaring the Narcos
• 8:07
Speaker 2: narco terrorists, which means that then America can go after
• 8:10
Speaker 2: them in different ways. There's also affordability as part of
• 8:14
Speaker 2: the speech, I was told by Speaker Johnson, initials aimed
• 8:17
Speaker 2: at lowering prescription drug costs the President will be touting
• 8:21
Speaker 2: as well, and reforming healthcare financing will be another part
• 8:25
Speaker 2: of what you can expect in the speech. Now, all
• 8:27
Speaker 2: of this also goes back to what Donald Trump has said,
• 8:30
Speaker 2: and that is that our government just got way too big.
• 8:34
Speaker 2: Previous administrations had massive amounts of regulations across climate, DEI
• 8:39
Speaker 2: and other areas. The President will tout the dismantling or
• 8:43
Speaker 2: reshaping of federal agency priorities, not to be about DEI hires,
• 8:47
Speaker 2: but to be about what is best for the American
• 8:49
Speaker 2: people and the workforce to do it in our government now,
• 8:53
Speaker 2: there will be, no doubt, a celebration of the policies
• 8:56
Speaker 2: that the President argues has strengthened the economy as well
• 9:00
Speaker 2: as national security. There will be a political message aimed
• 9:03
Speaker 2: at Republican voters, trying to inspire them to get out
• 9:07
Speaker 2: and vote in the midterms. The President will talk about
• 9:09
Speaker 2: that mid term convention as well to celebrate the candidates
• 9:13
Speaker 2: before election day, and then there will be a real
• 9:16
Speaker 2: effort from President Trump to appeal to Americans on cost
• 9:21
Speaker 2: of living, jobs, and national sovereignty issues. At the same time,
• 9:27
Speaker 2: it's very important to note that public opinion polls are
• 9:30
Speaker 2: showing skepticism among some Americans about President Trump's performance, especially
• 9:36
Speaker 2: on inflation, which they went down faster, even on the
• 9:39
Speaker 2: issue of tariffs and foreign relations. The President is going
• 9:43
Speaker 2: to have to make sure he connects on those issues
• 9:45
Speaker 2: as well. This is exactly what the President of United
• 9:49
Speaker 2: States of America is going to be focusing on, and
• 9:52
Speaker 2: it's so important that every American understands what already has
• 9:55
Speaker 2: been done, but where we're going moving forward.
