Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The band is back together.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen on a Tuesday. Kind of feels
- 0:04Speaker 2: like a Monday if you had yesterday off. It's 106.7
- 0:06Speaker 2: Light FM. I know producer Kristen was here yesterday producing
- 0:10Speaker 2: for Nina Del Rio and Jack Cradaville filling in for us.
- 0:14Speaker 1: We were off and I enjoyed a great three-day weekend.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Well, you went to a wedding, right? Your niece was married.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 0:21Speaker 2: My niece Ellen got married to Nick in Lynchburg, Virginia.
- 0:24Speaker 2: She looked beautiful.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Thank you. It was quite the trek to get there.
- 0:28Speaker 1: And it was raining.
- 0:29Speaker 2: And she was dead set on getting married outside with
- 0:33Speaker 2: a mountain view.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:34Speaker 2: And they almost pushed it inside. We were sitting on
- 0:39Speaker 2: a bus. They picked up everybody at a hotel and
- 0:41Speaker 2: took us to the mountains. So we're sitting on a bus.
- 0:44Speaker 2: It's pouring raining. And they're waiting to make a decision
- 0:47Speaker 2: on what to do about do it outside or do
- 0:50Speaker 2: it inside. Everyone's looking at their radar on their phone. Yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 2: And a little hole opened up. And it didn't get sunny.
- 0:57Speaker 2: But the rain stopped. and these clouds were kind of
- 1:01Speaker 2: floating with the mountains in the background.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 1:03Speaker 2: And everyone got out, and they did the whole ceremony
- 1:05Speaker 2: within 30 minutes.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 1: And then reception inside, and it all worked out, and
- 1:10Speaker 1: everyone was happy.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Oh, that's great.
- 1:11Speaker 2: You know what?
- 1:12Speaker 3: The lighting worked out beautifully for the pictures.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Did you notice that?
- 1:14Speaker 3: Sometimes, like, the bright sun doesn't work as well as
- 1:17Speaker 3: she had gray lighting.
- 1:19Speaker 2: We had just enough mountains you could see, and then
- 1:21Speaker 2: the clouds were floating by, and some brightness. Oh, wow.
- 1:23Speaker 1: And it was beautiful.
- 1:24Speaker 2: So we were in Lynchburg, Virginia, and then yesterday was
- 1:26Speaker 2: our travel back day, so that's why I took the
- 1:29Speaker 2: day off. They have one flight out of Lynchburg, Virginia,
- 1:33Speaker 2: and you can't even go directly to Newark. You've got
- 1:35Speaker 2: to change in Dulles in Washington.
- 1:36Speaker 3: In that little flight?
- 1:38Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And this airport is so small. The same people that
- 1:43Speaker 2: check you in upstairs also check you going into the airplane.
- 1:48Speaker 1: And there's two gates.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I mean, it's a super small airport.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Lynchburg, Virginia. And then they pilot the plane after that.
- 1:54Speaker 2: And then they get on the plane.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Okay, everybody, let's go.
- 1:56Speaker 2: But it was a great trip and happy to be back, though.
- 1:59Speaker 2: and ready to get back to the routine. I will
- 2:01Speaker 2: tell you, Christine, your voice sounds a lot better than
- 2:04Speaker 2: when we last talked.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I'm so happy to be back.
- 2:07Speaker 1: On Friday, we limped through the show.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Because you were just, I can't believe you made it.
- 2:12Speaker 2: You did the show, but your voice was like at 2%.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Thank you. Thanks to you.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So you sound better.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Thank you, yes. It's much, much better. It feels much better.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Thank you. I actually went to an ENT yesterday. I'm
- 2:24Speaker 3: at the tail end of this right now.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Oh, good.
- 2:26Speaker 3: But he looked down my throat, and he went, whoa.
- 2:29Speaker 3: He's like, you've been through something, you know, like.
- 2:31Speaker 1: That scope thing.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah. You know, the scope thing through the nose.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:36Speaker 3: But he had to come because he makes sure my
- 2:38Speaker 3: vocal cords are okay. And he just said, your throat
- 2:40Speaker 3: was beat up. Your vocal cords are beat up, but
- 2:42Speaker 3: I'm in the healing stages.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Good, good, good.
- 2:45Speaker 3: And do you remember I went for a massage and
- 2:47Speaker 3: I was like, what happened? Because I could talk when
- 2:50Speaker 3: I went in, but I couldn't talk when I came out.
- 2:53Speaker 3: And his best guess is the doctor's best guess is
- 2:56Speaker 3: that like I was face down and So it was
- 2:59Speaker 3: something to do with my sinuses and my sinuses draining.
- 3:01Speaker 1: That makes sense.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Which is also what Nancy, the massage therapist, had said.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And you were already kind of sick from earlier in
- 3:07Speaker 2: the week. Right.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So maybe that played a factor too.
- 3:09Speaker 3: We stirred some stuff up.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And you made it to Pumpkin Blaze?
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I went to the Blaze. No voice and everything.
- 3:14Speaker 1: On Friday?
- 3:15Speaker 3: Met the Headless Horseman. It was super, super cool. I
- 3:18Speaker 3: loved doing that.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Was it crowded?
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:21Speaker 3: It was busy. It was really beautiful. It wasn't too,
- 3:24Speaker 3: too cold.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:25Speaker 3: You know, just... A little. So I went early in
- 3:27Speaker 3: the season. I went there. And then I saw a
- 3:30Speaker 3: brand new musical off-Broadway at the Roundabout Theater called The Heart.
- 3:34Speaker 2: The Heart.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Which was like really exciting, wonderful cast, original story. So
- 3:38Speaker 3: you'll probably be hearing more about this show. It's called
- 3:40Speaker 3: The Heart.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Check out The Heart here from iHeartRadio.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 2: All right.
- 3:45Speaker 1: We're back together. Good to see you, Christine.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Me too.
- 3:48Speaker 2: We do have to address coming up later this hour.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I don't know when we're going to do it, but
- 3:51Speaker 2: hopefully this hour we'll talk about it. Survivor pool controversy. Mm-hmm.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Did you win or did you lose?
- 3:58Speaker 2: We'll discuss later this hour here on Light FM.
- 4:00Speaker 4: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I need to tell you two things.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Covey and Christine's.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Two pretty cool things.
- 4:13Speaker 2: It's pretty cool that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says that
- 4:16Speaker 2: the league is working on putting a microchip sensor into
- 4:19Speaker 2: basketballs as soon as next year. That would help with
- 4:22Speaker 2: very tight plays. One of them includes who touched the
- 4:25Speaker 2: ball last. A lot of times that happens. They're scrambling
- 4:28Speaker 2: for the ball and the ball goes out of bounds.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Whoever touches it last, well, the other team will get
- 4:32Speaker 2: the ball then. So if you're the Nets and you
- 4:35Speaker 2: touch it last and you're playing the Lakers, the Lakers
- 4:37Speaker 2: will get the ball. But now the sensor might be
- 4:39Speaker 2: able to indicate who did what.
- 4:41Speaker 3: This little chip is going to tell on you.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah, right?
- 4:44Speaker 1: Get it right. What's your cool thing, Christine?
- 4:46Speaker 3: Well, Cubby, it is now officially 10 years since the
- 4:49Speaker 3: world welcomed Stranger Things, a show that we love. Yeah,
- 4:53Speaker 3: it debuted 10 years ago. And in celebration of its
- 4:56Speaker 3: 10th anniversary, there's going to be this pop-up in New
- 4:59Speaker 3: York City. It's going to be the Stranger Things Diner Experience.
- 5:04Speaker 1: There's going to be a line for this.
- 5:05Speaker 3: There is going to be a line. You can actually
- 5:07Speaker 3: already sign up for it. It's a limited time diner experience.
- 5:11Speaker 3: So you get a ticket. You get a 90 minute experience.
- 5:14Speaker 3: It comes with $ 10 worth of food. And I guess
- 5:17Speaker 3: it's something like walking through Hawkins where strange, unforgettable scenes
- 5:22Speaker 3: can happen. You might enter the upside down world. Hear
- 5:25Speaker 3: unusual sounds, flickering lights, airborne spores, unexplained phenomena. So it
- 5:31Speaker 3: sounds like it's going to be fun. Right now they're
- 5:33Speaker 3: not telling us exactly where it is.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Somewhere in Manhattan. Somewhere in Manhattan.
- 5:39Speaker 1: And they better be playing 80s music in there.
- 5:41Speaker 3: I'm sure they will be.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And we're coming right back with an 80s classic next.
- 5:45Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Light FM.
- 5:50Speaker 2: It's Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. We have a controversy on
- 5:54Speaker 2: the show. For the first time ever with our NFL
- 5:57Speaker 2: survivor pool. I don't know how to handle this.
- 5:59Speaker 3: What to do.
- 6:00Speaker 2: So as we all know, producer Kristen, last year's champion
- 6:04Speaker 2: among us, is done.
- 6:06Speaker 1: She's done. So that's not the controversy. It's about you, Christine.
- 6:09Speaker 3: I can't believe it. Me.
- 6:11Speaker 2: So during the weekend games, I picked Texans to beat
- 6:16Speaker 2: the Titans. And that was an easy one for me.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Texans beat the Titans 26-3.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I almost went with that game, too.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Did you?
- 6:23Speaker 3: I did. That was the first one I was going
- 6:25Speaker 3: to go with. I should have just stuck with that game. But, okay,
- 6:27Speaker 3: go ahead.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Sorry. No, I was going to say, so you picked
- 6:31Speaker 2: the Commanders over the Giants.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And you were saying, sorry, New York.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Sorry, New York.
- 6:36Speaker 2: That game was a tie. And we don't get ties
- 6:40Speaker 2: often in the NFL.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I didn't know that we ever did. I had to
- 6:43Speaker 3: actually ask friends. I'm like, wait, games can end in ties?
- 6:46Speaker 1: Yep, regular season.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Not playoffs. It wouldn't happen in the playoffs, but regular season, yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Couldn't they just have played this out, make it easy
- 6:53Speaker 3: for us, you know?
- 6:54Speaker 1: Like come down to sudden death or something?
- 6:55Speaker 3: Yeah, do something, guys.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Because a tie does nothing.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I know what.
- 6:59Speaker 1: You didn't win, but you didn't lose.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Right. Well, and there's our point.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I didn't lose.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I looked it up. According to Google, in a standard
- 7:07Speaker 1: survivor pool, the rule states if your chosen team ties,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you are eliminated.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Hey.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Because a tie is not considered a win. because survivor
- 7:15Speaker 2: pools require an outright win to advance. A tie counts
- 7:19Speaker 2: as a loss in most official rule books. But that's
- 7:22Speaker 2: another thing. We never came up with rules for our
- 7:25Speaker 2: survivor pool. We never talked about this.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Okay, technically I didn't lose, though, because the commanders didn't
- 7:30Speaker 3: lose and the giants didn't lose.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But technically you didn't win outright.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Oh, boy. I don't know.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Now, what do you think, Kristen?
- 7:38Speaker 2: I'm leaning towards what you're thinking.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Keep her in.
- 7:42Speaker 3: I can stay in? Thank you, Kristen.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Yes.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Thank me too. I could fight you on this if
- 7:47Speaker 1: I wanted to.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I could be like, no, no, Christine's not in, she's out.
- 7:52Speaker 1: But no, but I don't want.
- 7:52Speaker 2: This to end.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I feel like producer Kristen should have the deciding vote.
- 7:55Speaker 2: How about we let Kristen back in?
- 7:57Speaker 3: Let's let Kristen back in. That would be more fun.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Then we get three strikes. Then we have to move
- 8:02Speaker 3: to three strikes.
- 8:03Speaker 1: You want back in?
- 8:05Speaker 3: She does.
- 8:05Speaker 1: She does want back in.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Come on, so let's do three strikes then.
- 8:08Speaker 1: All right, so we're all back in?
- 8:10Speaker 3: We're all back in and we're all happy now.
- 8:11Speaker 1: And we're starting all over week five.
- 8:12Speaker 3: It's like it never happens.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:16Speaker 3: So let's go like this. So we're back, but Kristen
- 8:19Speaker 3: has two strikes. You'll maintain that, right? I have one.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Cubby has one. So we're back to three strikes. Yay.
- 8:27Speaker 3: All right.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Well, that's all settled.
- 8:28Speaker 3: So we're making it up as we go.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Welcome back, Kristen.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yay.
- 8:33Speaker 1: To the NFL Survivor Four.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Let's play more. Yes. All right.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Good. And we'll have picks for this week coming up
- 8:38Speaker 2: tomorrow or Thursday.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 1: So all right. Congratulations, everybody. That was team effort.
- 8:42Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 8:47Speaker 2: You know, Christine, in a couple of weeks when Halloween's over,
- 8:50Speaker 2: it's going to be November 1st, and you're going to
- 8:51Speaker 2: be looking at all that Halloween candy, and you're going
- 8:53Speaker 2: to say to yourself, how long does this Halloween candy last?
- 8:57Speaker 2: We have the answers, we think. It's Light FM, Cubby, Christine,
- 9:00Speaker 2: producer Kristen. And yeah, I mean, different candy lasts for
- 9:04Speaker 2: a different amount of time.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Right. So let's get to chocolate because, you know, that's
- 9:07Speaker 3: super important. The National Confectioners Association gives us the guidelines
- 9:12Speaker 3: shelf life of your candy. So chocolate can last eight
- 9:16Speaker 3: to 10 months if it's wrapped in foil and stored
- 9:20Speaker 3: in a cool, dark and dry place.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Again, this may not apply if you have a six
- 9:24Speaker 1: and a four year old in the house.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Probably not.
- 9:26Speaker 1: The chocolate won't last that long.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I don't think you're going to have to worry.
- 9:28Speaker 1: But if you want to hold on to it, there
- 9:29Speaker 1: you go. Six to eight, eight to 10 months. I'm sorry.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Dark chocolate gives you a longer, you get two years
- 9:35Speaker 3: out of dark chocolate.
- 9:36Speaker 2: All right.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Alder chocolate will sometimes have that white hazy coating known
- 9:39Speaker 3: as a chocolate bloom, but it's still edible. Chocolate that
- 9:43Speaker 3: is really too old to consume will have a bitter taste.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Well, how about this, Christine? What about hard candy? I've
- 9:48Speaker 2: always wondered about lollipops and like butterscotch.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Don't you think they should last forever?
- 9:53Speaker 2: Right?
- 9:53Speaker 1: I've always wondered.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Do they do that study?
- 9:56Speaker 3: You get a year out of them.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Oh, longer than I thought.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I just, thought till the end of time.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Like honey?
- 10:02Speaker 3: Like hard candies. Yeah.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Like what could go wrong?
- 10:04Speaker 1: What about caramel?
- 10:06Speaker 3: Six to nine months if packaged properly.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Again, you're not getting a year out.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Of these, are you?
- 10:12Speaker 3: No, I thought they would last longer.
- 10:13Speaker 2: All right, here's a good one for you. You know
- 10:14Speaker 2: what has to last forever? And let me know if
- 10:16Speaker 2: it's on there. Candy corn.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Yes, you would think candy corn would last forever, but Cubby,
- 10:22Speaker 3: you've got to finish that up in nine months. Because,
- 10:26Speaker 3: and especially keep it unopened. If you've opened it, no,
- 10:29Speaker 3: you don't have long at all. It'll get stale.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So you can't hold it over to next Halloween?
- 10:33Speaker 2: No.
- 10:33Speaker 3: No, you can't.
- 10:35Speaker 1: What about jelly candies?
- 10:37Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 3: So about a year, if unopened. If the candy's packaging
- 10:41Speaker 3: is open but kept in a covered dish, it'll start
- 10:43Speaker 3: to go stale after about six to nine months.
- 10:46Speaker 2: I keep waiting for you to say, like, four years
- 10:49Speaker 2: for something in particular here.
- 10:50Speaker 1: But nothing.
- 10:51Speaker 2: All right, what about gum? They always say if you
- 10:53Speaker 2: swallow gum, it'll be in your belly forever.
- 10:55Speaker 3: That's true.
- 10:56Speaker 1: But that's, I believe, a myth.
- 10:58Speaker 3: It is.
- 10:58Speaker 1: What about gum, though, in general? How long does it last?
- 11:00Speaker 3: Only six to nine months.
- 11:02Speaker 1: What is up with this?
- 11:03Speaker 3: I thought that would last longer. You can tell when
- 11:06Speaker 3: gum is... Have you ever tried gum? You had a
- 11:08Speaker 3: piece of gum and you know it's old because it's
- 11:10Speaker 3: just kind of nasty and not making gum.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Can I tell you what I did over the weekend?
- 11:13Speaker 1: Uh-oh.
- 11:14Speaker 2: We were in Lynchburg, Virginia. I mentioned that for my
- 11:16Speaker 2: niece's wedding. And we had a free day on Sunday
- 11:18Speaker 2: to kind of drive around and thrift. And I went
- 11:21Speaker 2: to a baseball card collectible store. And I bought baseball
- 11:25Speaker 2: cards from 1990. And they had gum in them.
- 11:29Speaker 1: And guess what?
- 11:30Speaker 3: You tried the gum?
- 11:31Speaker 1: I put the gum in my mouth. It crunched like
- 11:33Speaker 1: you wouldn't believe.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Oh.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I opened up a pack. I went through the cards.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It had gum from 1990, sometimes 91, depending on the year.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And I put it right in my mouth. It was
- 11:43Speaker 1: like you're eating, I don't know, like crackers.
- 11:46Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Cubby.
- 11:49Speaker 3: And you're here to tell the tale. Did you spit
- 11:51Speaker 3: it out?
- 11:52Speaker 1: Well, my son Miles goes, I want a snack.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Oh.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I was like, no, you don't want this.
- 11:56Speaker 2: No.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You don't want this.
- 11:57Speaker 2: No.
- 11:58Speaker 3: I'm surprised you opened the cards. Aren't they more valuable
- 12:01Speaker 3: if they're not open or does it not matter?
- 12:03Speaker 1: You have to know what's in them.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 12:05Speaker 3: But did you have to taste the gum?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Well, I see a.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Guy do it. I know they're saying if someone else
- 12:10Speaker 1: does it, it doesn't mean you should do it.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 12:11Speaker 2: But there's a guy on social media and he opens
- 12:14Speaker 2: up cards and he goes, oh, gum. And he always
- 12:16Speaker 2: eats it because, and he, you know, and then he
- 12:19Speaker 2: moves on and he goes through the cards to see
- 12:21Speaker 2: what's in it. But yeah, you have to open them
- 12:22Speaker 2: because you don't know, like if you get a, let's
- 12:25Speaker 2: say you buy a pack of NBA cards from 1985,
- 12:27Speaker 2: you might have a Michael Jordan rookie in there. And
- 12:30Speaker 2: that's worth a lot of money, but you won't know
- 12:31Speaker 2: until you open it.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Did you get anything really valuable?
- 12:34Speaker 2: There are some that I have to check, but I
- 12:36Speaker 2: don't think I'm walking around with 10 grand or anything.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 12:39Speaker 2: But there were a couple of cards that, like there
- 12:42Speaker 2: was a Derek Jeter second year card. I don't know
- 12:46Speaker 2: if that's worth anything, but again, they have apps now
- 12:48Speaker 2: where you can snap pictures of. Do it.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Yeah, find out.
- 12:51Speaker 1: But I didn't find like a Babe Ruth or anything.
- 12:53Speaker 3: It's almost like you got scratch-offs. You know what?
- 12:57Speaker 1: It is very much like that.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:59Speaker 1: You're right. Because you open it up and you might
- 13:01Speaker 1: get a gem and you might get a clunker.
- 13:02Speaker 3: A dud.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Yep. A dud. All right.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Well, there you go. Halloween candy. Most of it doesn't
- 13:06Speaker 1: last less than a year.
- 13:08Speaker 3: And don't ever chew gum from the 90s.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Right. But I'm alive, though.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Yes, you're here to tell the tale.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Although my stomach just went.
- 13:14Speaker 2: All right.
- 13:14Speaker 3: What do you have coming up in the news? Let's
- 13:17Speaker 3: check out the headlines and why you should not be
- 13:20Speaker 3: listening to music as you go to bed.
- 13:22Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Good morning, Christine.
- 13:27Speaker 3: And good morning, Cubby. Thank you. We'll start off with
- 13:29Speaker 3: Mayor Mamdani, who's criticizing the federal search of Representative Ilhan
- 13:34Speaker 3: Omar's Washington, D.C. area home, arguing that her citizenship should
- 13:37Speaker 3: not be used against her because of her political views.
- 13:40Speaker 3: And the search was conducted by agents with Homeland Security agents.
- 13:44Speaker 3: the investigative division of ICE. Pope Leo is undergoing surgery today.
- 13:49Speaker 3: He's in a hospital in Rome. It's to remove an
- 13:51Speaker 3: early stage growth from his lungs. He's 71 years old
- 13:55Speaker 3: and doctors say he will be in the hospital for
- 13:57Speaker 3: about a week. Leo said doctors recently discovered a nodule
- 14:02Speaker 3: in his lung and that it was detected at a
- 14:04Speaker 3: very early stage. And actress Selma Blair, free on bond,
- 14:09Speaker 3: after being arraigned here in New York City in a
- 14:11Speaker 3: courtroom following a mid-air incident on a Delta flight. She's
- 14:15Speaker 3: facing assault charges after an alleged altercation Sunday night. She
- 14:19Speaker 3: was flying from L.A. to Kennedy Airport. And she's accused
- 14:22Speaker 3: of punching one flight attendant and biting another when they
- 14:26Speaker 3: stopped her from opening the plane's door mid-flight. Jessica Springsteen
- 14:31Speaker 3: is about to have a baby, and that means Bruce
- 14:34Speaker 3: Springsteen and his wife, Patty, are about to be grandparents
- 14:38Speaker 3: for a second time.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Look at that.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Their daughter is 34 years old, and they told the
- 14:43Speaker 3: news on Instagram on Saturday. Powerball jackpot is now $ 562
- 14:48Speaker 3: million because we didn't have a winner on Monday night. Sports, hockey,
- 14:53Speaker 3: the Devils lost to the Senators 4-1. Football, Bills beat
- 14:57Speaker 3: the Rams 37-34 in overtime. And experts are saying, and
- 15:02Speaker 3: this is great because I just did this last night,
- 15:04Speaker 3: that we should not be listening to music as we
- 15:07Speaker 3: go to bed. You're hurting your sleep.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Ooh, you're making Delilah mad.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Uh-oh.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Your brain continues processing the song while you sleep. Maybe
- 15:15Speaker 3: put Delilah on a timer then. So a sleep lab
- 15:17Speaker 3: study found that around one quarter of participants who listened
- 15:20Speaker 3: to familiar songs before bedtime awoke during the night with
- 15:24Speaker 3: a melody stuck in their heads, like an earworm. This
- 15:27Speaker 3: spontaneous replaying of music in the mind, known as an earworm,
- 15:31Speaker 3: was associated with lower sleep quality.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Now, I know this study has to do with music,
- 15:35Speaker 2: but I feel it works with TV, too, because I
- 15:37Speaker 2: can't fall asleep with the TV. Oh, yeah.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I can't.
- 15:39Speaker 1: How do people do that? Because I get sucked into
- 15:41Speaker 1: the storyline. I'm kind of half listening.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And I'm like, this is getting good.
- 15:44Speaker 3: And I perk up.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I hear the story, and then the lights from the
- 15:48Speaker 3: TV flicker wakes me up. But I listen to, like,
- 15:52Speaker 3: you know, I tell Alexa to play sleep music. And
- 15:55Speaker 3: it's just kind of like what you would hear if
- 15:57Speaker 3: you were getting a massage or something.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Oh, spa music kind of?
- 16:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and it helps me fall asleep. But now I'm
- 16:01Speaker 3: wondering if somewhere in there, in the middle of my
- 16:04Speaker 3: dreams or something, it's being interrupted.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:07Speaker 1: But everyone's different, though.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I hear about people that fall asleep to music. They
- 16:09Speaker 2: can't fall asleep without music.
- 16:11Speaker 1: So it's interesting.
- 16:12Speaker 4: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Don on Light FM.
- 16:18Speaker 2: It's Covey and Christine, producer Kristen. We're just talking about
- 16:21Speaker 2: all the holidays. We just talked about Halloween candy and
- 16:24Speaker 2: how long it will last. Go back and listen on
- 16:26Speaker 2: the iHeartRadio app if you missed that conversation. Just search
- 16:29Speaker 2: Cubby and Christine. Now let's tackle Thanksgiving.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Let's talk turkey.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Let's talk turkey.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Apparently you can already, can you call the Butterball Hotline yet?
- 16:37Speaker 3: I don't know if it's up and running, but they
- 16:39Speaker 3: are getting it together. It's funny because I was thinking
- 16:42Speaker 3: of this as I was driving in Cubby. Where are
- 16:44Speaker 3: we spending Thanksgiving this year?
- 16:46Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Do you want me to invite you over?
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, could you?
- 16:49Speaker 1: Actually, we're out of the country. Did you know that?
- 16:51Speaker 3: No, so you just psyched me out.
- 16:52Speaker 1: You want to come on vacation with us?
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yes, I would. Definitely.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Actually, before we get into this topic, where do you
- 16:58Speaker 1: normally do Thanksgiving?
- 16:59Speaker 3: Well, usually I'm with my brother and sister-in-law. Okay. My brother, Steve,
- 17:03Speaker 3: and my sister-in-law, Charlene. And then some years we are
- 17:06Speaker 3: with Eric's family. So maybe this year.
- 17:09Speaker 1: No plans as of now.
- 17:10Speaker 3: No plans. Somebody's got to take us in. I've never
- 17:13Speaker 3: hosted a Thanksgiving dinner.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Take Christine in. Text 44363.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Can you adopt Eric and me for the day?
- 17:19Speaker 1: Just two people. That's all you're asking, right? You and Eric.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Two people who can't really cook a turkey.
- 17:23Speaker 1: If you can take in two people, text us right now.
- 17:25Speaker 3: We're wearing side dishes.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good trade-off.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I mean, it's something, and we do help clean up.
- 17:31Speaker 3: We're really good about that.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Again, text 44363, Christy and Eric looking for a place
- 17:36Speaker 2: to do Thanksgiving.
- 17:37Speaker 3: 85% of people now, this is the Butterball Turkey Hotline,
- 17:41Speaker 3: they're getting ready. They're telling us that 85% of people
- 17:44Speaker 3: do plan on celebrating Thanksgiving this year, which is good.
- 17:48Speaker 3: And we have a guest list that includes 10 people.
- 17:52Speaker 3: So hosts are saying, what's the most important thing you
- 17:55Speaker 3: can do if you're hosting Thanksgiving? As a guest, you
- 17:59Speaker 3: can help them clean up.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I was going to say, you mentioned one.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yes, that is really all they want.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Don't get there too early, though.
- 18:05Speaker 2: You'll end up having to prep because I used to
- 18:07Speaker 2: arrive too early at a friend's house, and the wife
- 18:10Speaker 2: would put me to work.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I'd be vacuuming.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yeah, here's the vacuum.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 2: She'd make me vacuum, and that's no joke. It would
- 18:16Speaker 2: be like 1 o'clock, get there. And I'd get there
- 18:18Speaker 2: at noon.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I was always too early.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Oh, that was super early.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I was coming from Jersey, and they lived in Westchester,
- 18:23Speaker 2: and I knew I'd have to battle Thanksgiving Day parade
- 18:26Speaker 2: traffic and just overall traffic.
- 18:28Speaker 3: You couldn't kill time at a Dunkin' Donuts or something?
- 18:31Speaker 1: I probably should have, right? I'm always running early when
- 18:34Speaker 1: I go there.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I guess they were used to you at that point.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 18:39Speaker 1: It was already plugged in, the vacuum.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Just go to work. So, yep, we're averaging 10 people
- 18:44Speaker 3: this year. Prices are high, but we still, of course,
- 18:47Speaker 3: plan to celebrate, which is good news. A lot of cooking, cleaning,
- 18:50Speaker 3: and kitchen time for the hosts. So that's why hosts
- 18:53Speaker 3: say what they would like more than anything is just
- 18:55Speaker 3: for you to help them clean up afterwards. When the
- 18:58Speaker 3: majority of guests pitch in, only 38% actually ask for
- 19:03Speaker 3: the help that they need. So volunteer. Oh, right.
- 19:06Speaker 2: They say, no, don't worry about the table.
- 19:08Speaker 3: I got it.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Just do it.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Just, yeah, worry about the table.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Don't go to the sofa with your hand down your
- 19:12Speaker 2: pants and the remote control with the Detroit Lions game on.
- 19:14Speaker 2: That's what I usually do.
- 19:15Speaker 3: That sounds really appealing. Nearly two-thirds say they would love
- 19:18Speaker 3: cleanup to be as simple as pushing a button, but
- 19:20Speaker 3: of course that doesn't exist. Turkey is still the star
- 19:24Speaker 3: of the meal. Eighty-four percent of hosts plan to serve
- 19:26Speaker 3: the turkey. And 20% say they're buying a fresh one.
- 19:29Speaker 3: You know, I saw a guy yesterday in Stop and
- 19:31Speaker 3: Shop and he had one thing in his hand. It
- 19:33Speaker 3: wasn't even in the cart. It was in his hand
- 19:35Speaker 3: and it was a frozen turkey.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Hey, it's not too early.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Wow. As long as it's frozen, you're fine, right?
- 19:41Speaker 2: I mean.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I wonder if you can get a good deal on
- 19:42Speaker 1: turkeys now because we're so far ahead.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 3: He's planning ahead or they're making turkey dinner this weekend.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Who knows what people say they're looking forward to the most.
- 19:50Speaker 3: of thanksgiving spending time with family followed by the food
- 19:54Speaker 3: and then the relaxation and yes the butterball turkey talk
- 19:58Speaker 3: line is what they're calling it will be back for
- 20:01Speaker 3: their 45th year so free thanksgiving support for anyone who
- 20:06Speaker 3: needs it They have professionally trained turkey experts ready to
- 20:09Speaker 3: take our calls, 1-800-Butterball, as well as through Butterball.com and
- 20:13Speaker 3: on social media.
- 20:14Speaker 1: What happens if you call now?
- 20:15Speaker 3: I mean, hey, we're not ready. Was that guy in
- 20:20Speaker 3: Stop and Shop too early?
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:22Speaker 3: All right.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Again, text us.
- 20:25Speaker 2: We need a Thanksgiving location for Christine and Eric.
- 20:29Speaker 1: 44363. Watch us be the biggest texting we get all
- 20:31Speaker 1: day long.
- 20:33Speaker 3: It would be nice.
- 20:33Speaker 1: You're loved, Christine.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 20:34Speaker 1: They're going to want you over.
- 20:35Speaker 3: That would feel good.
- 20:36Speaker 1: And she'll clean up.
- 20:37Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 20:42Speaker 2: You pretty good at trivia?
- 20:44Speaker 4: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Well, well, well, Christine.
- 20:48Speaker 1: We meet again.
- 20:49Speaker 2: And your voice is back. By the way, last week
- 20:51Speaker 2: you were on the struggle bus.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Yes, good to be back. Good to hear you.
- 20:56Speaker 2: On Team Cubby today is Selena from Jackson, New Jersey.
- 21:00Speaker 2: It's a trivia battle. Selena, you've played before. Can you
- 21:02Speaker 2: tell us your record? How many times have you won?
- 21:04Speaker 2: How many times have you lost?
- 21:06Speaker 3: I couldn't tell you.
- 21:07Speaker 2: I think I've lost like three times and probably won
- 21:11Speaker 2: five times.
- 21:12Speaker 1: All right, not bad. You're doing pretty good. It sounds
- 21:14Speaker 1: like a winning record.
- 21:15Speaker 3: I would say that's a returning champ. Yeah, exactly.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Well, who's on Team Christine? Who is her competition?
- 21:21Speaker 3: Joan in Cedar Grove. Good morning, Joan.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 21:25Speaker 3: And welcome back. You played with us before, too, right?
- 21:28Speaker 2: Yes, I played once, and I won that one time,
- 21:32Speaker 2: so I'm one for one.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Okay, let's keep the streak going.
- 21:35Speaker 2: All right, better than the Jets.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Okay, so.
- 21:38Speaker 2: You know the drill, but I'll explain it if you're
- 21:40Speaker 2: tuning in for the first time. Selena's going to get
- 21:42Speaker 2: a bunch of questions about pop culture, three of them
- 21:44Speaker 2: to be exact. Joan, you'll get three questions, and the
- 21:47Speaker 2: best out of three wins our trivia battle. Selena, question
- 21:49Speaker 2: number one for you. Horse Racing's famed Belmont Park has
- 21:53Speaker 2: reopened after closing for a huge remodeling project.
- 21:57Speaker 1: What state is it in? Is Belmont Park... Kentucky, Maryland,
- 22:03Speaker 1: or New York? Which one are you picking?
- 22:04Speaker 2: Kentucky.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Kentucky.
- 22:07Speaker 1: All right, show me Kentucky.
- 22:10Speaker 3: No.
- 22:11Speaker 1: It's our backyard.
- 22:12Speaker 3: It's New York.
- 22:13Speaker 1: New York.
- 22:14Speaker 3: I was going to say New York.
- 22:15Speaker 2: All right, no score.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Okay, Joan. Football legend Jerry Rice played most of his
- 22:19Speaker 3: career with which NFL team? A, the Chicago Bears, B,
- 22:23Speaker 3: New England Patriots, C, San Francisco 49ers. Let's try Chicago Bears. Nope.
- 22:32Speaker 3: I'm sorry. It was the 49ers.
- 22:34Speaker 2: 49ers.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:36Speaker 1: No score. Selena, question number two.
- 22:39Speaker 2: How many Jason Bourne movies has Matt Damon starred in?
- 22:43Speaker 2: Is it A, 2, B, 4, or C, 6?
- 22:48Speaker 4: Four.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Four.
- 22:49Speaker 1: And she said that with confidence. And you're right. You're
- 22:52Speaker 1: on the board, 1-0.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Joan, Bunny XO is the ex-wife of which of these guys? A,
- 22:58Speaker 3: Jelly Roll, B, Post Malone, or C, Morgan Wallen?
- 23:04Speaker 2: Jelly Roll.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Yes, you've got it.
- 23:06Speaker 1: It is one to one.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Selena, your third and final question. Do you know the
- 23:12Speaker 2: most consumed beverage in the world that is not water?
- 23:16Speaker 1: It's not water.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Is it A, coffee, B, tea, or C, soda?
- 23:23Speaker 4: Tea.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Tea is correct. And it's 2-1, Selena. We could have
- 23:28Speaker 2: a tie here.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Joan, we need to tie. What is the capital city
- 23:32Speaker 3: of Canada? Is it A, Toronto, B, Ottawa, or C, Montreal?
- 23:38Speaker 2: I'm going to say Ottawa.
- 23:43Speaker 3: You've got it.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Ottawa, another tie, but we got one.
- 23:46Speaker 3: We have ourselves a tie.
- 23:48Speaker 1: We had a tie every day last week, except Friday,
- 23:50Speaker 1: because we didn't do a trivia battle.
- 23:51Speaker 3: True.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Oh, my goodness.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Okay, ties are what we do.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Pick a number, Kristen, between 1 and 100, and write
- 23:59Speaker 2: it down. Don't show it to anybody. What do you
- 24:01Speaker 2: think she wrote down, Joan? Kristen, between 1 to 100?
- 24:03Speaker 1: Let's say 51.
- 24:07Speaker 3: 51 for Joan. Okay, Selena? I'm going with 26. 26,
- 24:13Speaker 3: producer Kristen.
- 24:14Speaker 1: What did she write down?
- 24:15Speaker 3: The number 74, which would make Joan our winner. Congratulations, Joan.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Selena, but you know you can play again. Absolutely.
- 24:27Speaker 3: I'm saving my win for the Rockette tickets.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Thanks, guys.
- 24:30Speaker 4: All right.
- 24:31Speaker 3: I'm sure that's coming up. But, Joan, thank you. You're
- 24:34Speaker 3: going to see Carly Rae Jepsen. She'll be at Madison
- 24:37Speaker 3: Square Garden on Saturday, May 15th.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Thank you so much. Thank you.
- 24:43Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 24:48Speaker 2: 106.7 Light FM. Happy Tuesday. Yes, it's Tuesday. Kind of
- 24:51Speaker 2: feels like a Monday if you were off yesterday. Cubby, Christine,
- 24:54Speaker 2: producer Kristen hanging out. Now, before Gloria, we played Justin Timberlake.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Can't stop the feeling. Justin Timberlake was in a band,
- 25:01Speaker 2: perhaps you've heard of them, called NSYNC.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Yes.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Now, there's something going on. He kind of regrets something.
- 25:07Speaker 3: No, not Justin Timberlake. He didn't talk about it. Lance
- 25:10Speaker 3: Bass did.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Oh, Lance Bass.
- 25:11Speaker 2: That's how I associated with it.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Right. So Lance Bass, Justin Timberlake, the whole gang.
- 25:16Speaker 3: So Lance Bass himself, just Lance, is being interviewed on
- 25:19Speaker 3: a podcast, Zach Sang, The Zach Sang Show. And Zach
- 25:24Speaker 3: asked him, do you wish NSYNC was in a place
- 25:27Speaker 3: that the Backstreet Boys are in? Meaning they still get along,
- 25:30Speaker 3: they still perform together. And Lance Bass said, yeah. Like,
- 25:34Speaker 3: without a doubt, he didn't hesitate for a second.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Right. And I think a lot of NSYNC fans kind
- 25:37Speaker 2: of wish that there was that Backstreet Boys vibe to
- 25:40Speaker 2: it because they've had their issues NSYNC more than BSB.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:44Speaker 2: And unfortunately, they don't get along.
- 25:47Speaker 3: They don't get to do the sphere.
- 25:48Speaker 1: They don't get to do the sphere.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Like, look at.
- 25:50Speaker 3: What's happening for the Backstreet Boys and how they're selling out.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Do you think you're a DJ, Cubby? You can say
- 25:56Speaker 3: you think NSYNC would sell out the sphere right now.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I'm nervous with producer Kristen here because she's the number
- 26:01Speaker 2: one BSB fan.
- 26:04Speaker 1: But do you think they could? Okay, I agree.
- 26:06Speaker 3: She's saying absolutely.
- 26:07Speaker 2: I think if Backstreet Boys left and NSYNC did the
- 26:11Speaker 2: exact same thing, of course, different kind of show, but
- 26:14Speaker 2: all their hits, it would be the same kind of energy.
- 26:16Speaker 3: They would sell out.
- 26:17Speaker 2: But you have to have Justin Timberlake.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 26:19Speaker 1: You have to have the whole band.
- 26:20Speaker 3: And Justin's been, he's kind of been the holdout from
- 26:23Speaker 3: what we know, right?
- 26:24Speaker 1: Right, he's the one that's kind of on the fence.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I think he talks to the guys a lot.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Well, they did a song together, right, a couple of
- 26:30Speaker 3: years ago.
- 26:31Speaker 2: They did.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Yeah, for an animated movie, for Trolls.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Right, right, right.
- 26:35Speaker 3: And Lance said that they actually recorded three songs that day.
- 26:39Speaker 3: We've only heard one. So there's a couple of, you know,
- 26:43Speaker 3: hidden NSYNC songs out there. A little bit of a teaser.
- 26:45Speaker 2: All right, we'll see if that happens. Again, NSYNC fans,
- 26:47Speaker 2: I'm sure they're all for it. We have something to
- 26:49Speaker 2: give away right now, and this is pretty cool.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Caller 10-1-800-222-1067. What do we have, Christine?
- 26:55Speaker 3: Tickets to see Michael Jackson History Show on Saturday, October
- 26:59Speaker 3: 24th at Flagstar at Westbury Music Fair. Tickets available now
- 27:04Speaker 3: at Ticketmaster.com or you can call us. 1-800-222-1067.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Looking for Caller 10 right now. And we've got three
- 27:12Speaker 2: hours commercial free to kick off that workday after this
- 27:14Speaker 2: brief break.
