- 0:00Hey, welcome back to Health with Hashimoto's. This is episode 118.
- 0:04And I don't think I have told you lately, I really value you.
- 0:10And the fact that you take time out of your busy day, your busy week,
- 0:14to listen to what I have to say, that means a lot. Thank you.
- 0:19Thank you for trusting me with your health, for making changes based on what
- 0:24I have taught you in this podcast and in the previous 117 episodes.
- 0:30I value that and I never want to squander that.
- 0:33I would never want to waste your time. I never want to waste your energy because
- 0:39it takes some energy to figure out who to trust and who will tell you the facts and not just hype.
- 0:46And I hope that I will always be that for you. Be that person because that is part of who I am.
- 0:53I value facts and science and data and the whole person.
- 0:59Body, mind, spirit, diet, environment, it all comes together.
- 1:03And I hope that you get that in this podcast every single episode.
- 1:07Today, I have something special that I have been working on for a while.
- 1:11I've been looking for a solution for quite a while.
- 1:16And that is moving us to a new community.
- 1:20So you have heard me mention the Health with Hashimoto's app,
- 1:24the community that I have online, and I thought it was going to be a great solution
- 1:29because we know one of the problems of having Hashimoto's or any other autoimmune
- 1:34problem is that you feel lonely.
- 1:37You feel like the people around you can't relate to what you're going through.
- 1:41And while you don't want to focus on what's wrong all the time,
- 1:44you want to, you know, seek out solutions and you want to grow and you want to heal.
- 1:50But at the same time, it's nice to do that in a community where other people
- 1:54also understand what you're going through.
- 1:57You don't want to just be with like victims all the time with that mindset of, oh, we're stuck.
- 2:03And, you know, woe is me. This is horrible.
- 2:07We don't want to be stuck in that. What we want to do is we want to be with
- 2:11a community of people who understand this and are going to help us move forward in our health.
- 2:18And yeah, we do have down days and we have days where we need to say,
- 2:22oh my goodness, I'm having a rough day.
- 2:24Can you guys just encourage me? And there are days like that.
- 2:27I'm not saying like you always have to put on a false smile.
- 2:30That would be not healthy.
- 2:33But what I'm saying is having a community is so important.
- 2:38So when I found the app and I created it, I was so excited.
- 2:41I mean, here is a place where we can all come together. We can form relationships.
- 2:46We can make friendships.
- 2:47We can encourage each other. And then it had a really poor user interface.
- 2:54I don't even like to go into the community. And I own it.
- 2:58And I am trying to facilitate it for you. And it's so awkward and clunky.
- 3:03And the notifications are just, they don't work half the time,
- 3:07three quarters of the time.
- 3:09It's hard to see when somebody's replying. I have accidentally ghosted people
- 3:14for days or even weeks because I thought I was all caught up.
- 3:17And there was one that snuck by.
- 3:20And I just got frustrated because when you're forming a community,
- 3:24you need it to be reliable. You need to be able to communicate with others.
- 3:29So I have been looking and thankfully, one of the other communities that I am
- 3:34part of, all a group of homeschooling moms who are also business owners.
- 3:38We are the homeschool CEO society.
- 3:42If that describes you, definitely look into it. The founder of the group, Jen, she is amazing.
- 3:47And a couple weeks ago, maybe four weeks ago now, she said, Hey guys,
- 3:52I found a new platform. I'm going to move our community. We're going to leave Facebook.
- 3:57We're going to leave the off social media, other platform that we were on.
- 4:02And we're all going to move to this new platform.
- 4:06I'm going to move all of the courses. I'm going to move the community, everything.
- 4:10I'm so excited about this. Come see. So I checked it out. Oh my goodness.
- 4:15This is what the Health with Hashimoto's community needs.
- 4:18So today I'm so excited to announce that we are moving to this new platform,
- 4:23which is so much more user-friendly.
- 4:26You are going to be able to make and build relationships here.
- 4:29I have to tell you, some of my very best friends I have never met in person,
- 4:33or I have met in person maybe once or twice, but we formed a relationship online.
- 4:40But there are problems with social media, and I don't want to be tied to social
- 4:44media all the time. Also the courses.
- 4:47Sometimes I've been having problems on that other platform with my courses.
- 4:51You have been having problems. I've had people try to pay for the bigger courses
- 4:56and it doesn't go through because of the user interface.
- 5:00I don't want that for you. I want you to have a smooth experience that works
- 5:04every time, a hundred percent every time.
- 5:06And that is what you're going to have over on this new platform.
- 5:09If you have never heard of it is called a school, S-K-O-O-L.
- 5:13And it is more like back in the forum days. If you were on the internet back
- 5:19when we had forums before Facebook groups, you will know a little bit about what I'm talking to.
- 5:24And I'm going to read some quotes directly from my other community,
- 5:29the Homeschool CEO Society.
- 5:31I asked in there, hey guys, most of us are new to school, to this platform.
- 5:36We came over because Jen said our community is moving.
- 5:40What are you loving so far about school?
- 5:44And these answers also apply to our new community, the Health with Hashimoto's community.
- 5:50Our community is free to join a school.com. You can search Health with Hashimoto's.
- 5:54You can also go down to the show notes.
- 5:56There will be a link to join. If you're on my email list, you will also get
- 5:59a link on Saturday when I send out my regular email, it will have a link in there.
- 6:04It is super easy to join. So let me tell you what people are loving about school so far.
- 6:10Again, this is after about a week or two of experience for most of us.
- 6:15I would love to hear which of these resonates with you the most.
- 6:19What are you looking for?
- 6:21My friend Ruby said that she loves the decrease of distractions with being on school.
- 6:26I always told myself I could tune out the distractions of Facebook,
- 6:29but let's be real, I cannot.
- 6:31Stephanie said that she was into forum model communities before social media
- 6:36killed them, and school reminds her of the very best parts of that wrapped up
- 6:41in more modern packaging.
- 6:43Specifically, she adds, the gamification and the ability to focus on what matters
- 6:48to me, not what the algorithm wants me to notice. Those are her favorite things.
- 6:53Let me tell you a little bit about the gamification of school.
- 6:56So when you open our community, it's going to be the Health with Hashimoto's
- 7:00community, you're going to see at the top a couple different, I guess, tabs.
- 7:06One is the community. Another is the classroom. Then there's a calendar.
- 7:10You can click on the tab to see all of the members. There are leaderboards and
- 7:14then there's a tab about the group.
- 7:16The community is where all of our discussion will happen. And I love that it is not algorithm based.
- 7:22It is based on how people are using it and what they're interacting with.
- 7:27Of course, I can pin a couple comments or a couple topics, and I will do that.
- 7:32But mostly, this is based on what we want to talk about as a community.
- 7:37Every time that you make a post, or somebody...
- 7:42Shows that you gave value by liking your post, you get a point in this gamification thing.
- 7:49And as you earn points, you up-level in the school community.
- 7:54As you up-level, you will unlock different prizes on our leaderboard.
- 8:01So at level one, you're brand new into the community.
- 8:05Everybody starts out at level one. At level two, you will unlock some different
- 8:09things. Level three, you on the lock more.
- 8:11I have looked at other school communities. And as you get towards like level seven.
- 8:17Eight, and then nine, which is the top, I believe they have huge prizes like
- 8:22one-on-one calls or free, a free year of a mastermind.
- 8:28There are some huge, huge prizes for other groups that I am in.
- 8:33And I would love for you to help me figure out what our prizes should be.
- 8:37I would love this to be a group effort.
- 8:40And I want to know what's important to you. So as you comment, as you engage,
- 8:46as you form relationships, you will automatically level up in this gamification
- 8:52style of school, which I really appreciate because I guess it just makes it kind of fun.
- 8:58So back to other reasons why people are saying that they love school and our communities over here.
- 9:06Let me tell you a little bit more about what Stephanie added on.
- 9:10She said specifically, she loves the intentionality of going to the community
- 9:14without being bombarded with other unrelated posts, ads, and notifications.
- 9:19I have not seen a single ad in school.
- 9:22The school platform is paid for by community owners. So I pay a monthly fee
- 9:28so that we can have this community. I believe that means you will never see an ad.
- 9:33And we are all thankful, so thankful for that.
- 9:37Stephanie also said that she likes pages with a concrete number of posts instead
- 9:42of endless scrolling. Yes.
- 9:45Also being able to customize what posts show up at the top of a list.
- 9:49Posts are sorted into categories so that you don't have to read or skim through
- 9:53every single post to find the pertinent ones.
- 9:55So let me explain those categories or the tags.
- 9:58Every time that you create a new conversation or new post, you're going to pick
- 10:03which category it falls into.
- 10:05And right now I have three different categories. And as we build this community,
- 10:10you are going to help me figure out what categories are best.
- 10:14To start out with, I have three, I have general discussion, and then podcast
- 10:19discussion, and then celebrating health improvements.
- 10:22So if you are listening to this specific podcast episode and you want to chat
- 10:26about it, there will be a post about this.
- 10:30Episode and we can chat. Otherwise, you know, lots of stuff in the general discussion.
- 10:34I would love to be able to celebrate how you are finding health improvements
- 10:39in your life, how you are implementing things, how you are seeing change.
- 10:43And I am very, very excited to see what is reported in the celebrate health
- 10:49improvements category.
- 10:51Super excited about that one. And then the last reason why Stephanie said that she enjoys school.
- 10:57She said, a search function that returns results in a way that makes sense, not however it sees fit.
- 11:03How many times have you been on Facebook or any other platform and you do a
- 11:08search and you're like, well, I know I saw something about that.
- 11:11And either it's like five pages down or it doesn't show up at all.
- 11:15It shows up just random things.
- 11:17It gets so frustrating in the school community. You're going to be able to search and find.
- 11:23I'm so excited for you to check this out.
- 11:26All right, so Erin said everything is one in one place and it's less distracting.
- 11:31She has noticed that she gets a lot more value out of it and she is more intentional.
- 11:36She said, I'm actually reading and responding to multiple posts and not just
- 11:40ones that happen to come through my news feed.
- 11:43Lisa said, I'm actually super skeptical by nature and I was very negative about this move to start with.
- 11:49I actually told Jen that I didn't plan on ever logging in.
- 11:53And then I thought about it with an open mind instead of thinking of it as just one more app.
- 11:57And I realized it's everything I used to like about Facebook without all of the noise.
- 12:02When I first joined Facebook, it was really to be in a few groups and learn
- 12:06with like-minded people who would challenge me to grow.
- 12:09This is that space. Without the memes or ads or political drama or random people
- 12:14that the algorithm wants me to see.
- 12:16I've noticed that I don't have any sensory overwhelm when I am done on school,
- 12:21like I do on Facebook or TikTok or Instagram. It's much cleaner and quieter.
- 12:26Yes, I think that we all need a little cleaner and quieter of anything online.
- 12:33Beth said that she loves the easy access to training. She listened to a training
- 12:38the other day while doing dishes.
- 12:40The app on the phone makes it easy.
- 12:43Stacey said she moved her own membership back in May or June.
- 12:47She loves that she can come check in, gets what she needs and doesn't get sidetracked
- 12:51like on other platforms.
- 12:53And I will read you one more just in case I haven't convinced you yet to come
- 12:58over to our new community on a school.
- 13:00Laura said, okay, I finally decided on mine. It is the privacy of this platform.
- 13:05Whenever I post on Facebook, I find myself thinking or worrying about who will
- 13:10see this, who I'm not anticipating, even if it's in a private group,
- 13:13even if I'm posting in a way that nobody else should be able to see it.
- 13:17I just don't trust anything about the privacy of that platform at all.
- 13:22But on school, I don't have any concerns about what I share making it out of
- 13:26this group. And I love that.
- 13:29All right. So there's so many different reasons that people have found to love
- 13:34the communities of school.
- 13:36And I would love to know what you are enjoying after you join.
- 13:41Let me tell you about some of the topics that I already have started so that
- 13:46you're not just wandering in and be like, well, this party is kind of quiet.
- 13:50I'm just going to leave. I want you to join the party and immediately be able
- 13:55to start talking to somebody.
- 13:56As an introvert, I always struggle at parties.
- 13:59And when I say parties, I really mean any gathering of people whatsoever.
- 14:03I just feel completely awkward. I don't like small talk. I don't know how to start conversations.
- 14:09You know, I can talk about health all day, 24-7. I can talk about health.
- 14:13I would love to hear about, you know, all of your health problems and everything that's going on.
- 14:20I love to hear that. I love to be able to help you.
- 14:22But just a small talk or starting conversations, that is hard for me.
- 14:26So thinking of you in that with that lens, I've already started some discussions
- 14:32that I would love to have you turn into a discussion because right now it's
- 14:35just me saying one thing.
- 14:37One of them is episode 101. What does Hashimoto's feel like?
- 14:42Come over to school and join that discussion. What does Hashimoto's feel like
- 14:46for you? Share your experience.
- 14:49We just finished up a four-part GLP One series.
- 14:53There's a discussion about that. Let's turn that podcast series into a discussion.
- 14:59You know, have you tried them? What are your experiences?
- 15:02Have you had good experiences on the medications? Have you not been approved for the medications?
- 15:08Have you thought about the medications, but you haven't done it yet?
- 15:11Are you trying out this new MindBody GLP-1 system?
- 15:16Are you trying out a different natural solution?
- 15:18Like let's turn this podcast into a
- 15:22two-way, five-way, a thousand-way conversation.
- 15:26Another conversation I have started for you is what tips would you give to someone
- 15:32newly diagnosed with Hashimoto's?
- 15:34Another one, what's one health goal you are currently working on?
- 15:38I'd love to know that. What are some simple tiny things that you are doing?
- 15:42And I do have mine in there, what I am working on.
- 15:44Also, I started another discussion about share your biggest challenge with Hashimoto's.
- 15:51And one popular thing, I know this is popular because the podcast episodes where
- 15:55I talk about increasing energy are some of the biggest downloads,
- 15:59and that is what has been your favorite strategy to increase your energy.
- 16:03And this is just to get us started with our conversation. So come on over,
- 16:08answer some of these, join in the conversation, start your own topics.
- 16:13Let's create a strong community where we are all supporting each other.
- 16:18And of course, yes, My courses are over here, as well as the freebies.
- 16:24Let me tell you what you're going to find in the classroom.
- 16:26The first thing you're going to see in the classroom is one that says start here.
- 16:30It is the best of, it is resources, it is how to work with me.
- 16:34So it has little welcome, what to expect, you know, our community standards,
- 16:39how to invite your friends to the community.
- 16:41Please invite your friends to the community. That is how we are going to grow.
- 16:44Based on the downloads of this podcast, about 400 people listen, which is huge.
- 16:52Can you imagine a room of 400 of us all together talking and encouraging one
- 16:56another and sharing simple strategies that have worked for our health?
- 17:00It's going to be so exciting.
- 17:02I don't honestly, I don't expect every single person who listens to the podcast
- 17:05to come over to our school community. At the same time,
- 17:09On the same level, I don't expect everybody who is going to join this community
- 17:14to be a podcast listener because I know some people prefer the online like typing,
- 17:20reading type platform better than listening.
- 17:23That's okay. That's why I want to be in both places.
- 17:27So yes, invite your friends to the community.
- 17:31Also in the classroom, you're going to see a topic that is the podcast,
- 17:36podcast chat and I will move discussions
- 17:38that we have to the classroom for easier, almost like a bookmark.
- 17:43Hashimoto's 101, which was an older freebie that I made for you,
- 17:48it is now in the Health with Hashimoto's community.
- 17:51I also have both of the Hashimoto's decoded here. So Hashimoto's decoded,
- 17:5710 thyroid questions for your doctor.
- 17:59That is here. I believe that unlocks when you get to level two,
- 18:02which should not take very long. I think in the other community.
- 18:06I unlocked level two in like two days.
- 18:09Hashimoto's decoded root causes revealed is here. That is $7 and it works over here. Yay.
- 18:16Unlike the other platform, which gave us problems when we tried to purchase this sometimes.
- 18:22The holistic Hashimoto's course is also here. That one is $197 to unlock.
- 18:28That is the full four week course. I am interested in hearing your thoughts
- 18:33if we should change it instead of a dripped course where one week unlocks each
- 18:41week if you would prefer to have it like all at once.
- 18:44Let me know your thoughts on that because I want every single thing on here,
- 18:49every single thing that I do to serve you in a way that is going to be best
- 18:53for your consumption and your implementation.
- 18:56So let me know your thoughts on the Holistic Hashimoto's course if you like
- 19:00that one week, one week per week drip model, because I'm
- 19:05I did that so that you wouldn't get overwhelmed. But at the same time,
- 19:08I understand some people want to do other things first.
- 19:11So let me know your thoughts and we can see where that goes after some discussion.
- 19:15I also have at level three, you will unlock the jumpstart to refreshing sleep and rest.
- 19:22That is something I used to give from or via email as a five day series and
- 19:29I help you improve both your sleep and your rest.
- 19:33So that's what I have in the classroom so far. I can build this up if we come
- 19:38up with other things that you want.
- 19:41Right now, I am excited about making this work for everybody.
- 19:45I'm excited about building relationships. I am just so passionate about people
- 19:50not feeling alone anymore, people feeling supported and encouraged.
- 19:55Uplifted, people feeling like they have solutions and they have hope.
- 20:01And I hope that you feel that every time you listen to the podcast,
- 20:07and especially now in this new community.
- 20:09So drop down to the show notes, join school.com. You do have to make an account
- 20:13once and then search for the Health with Hashimoto's community.
- 20:17If you're just doing it, you know, typing it in school.com, or if you click
- 20:21the link below, it'll take you right to the community. go ahead and join the community and welcome.
- 20:26I am so excited to welcome you into our new community on a better platform.
- 20:32This podcast is for informational and educational purposes only.
- 20:35Please discuss any concerns and plans with your trusted healthcare professional.
- 20:39If you found this episode helpful, will you please share it with a friend?
- 20:43I'll see you next week on the Health with Hashimoto's podcast.
- 20:46Music.
