- 0:30Speaker 1: to Patriot's Unfiltered. Who would you rather have? Friend? Zach
- 0:35Speaker 1: Wilson and Mac Jones? Oh? I did not expect that
- 0:41Speaker 1: pause right now? Would you take Zach Wilson or Mac Jones?
- 0:47Speaker 1: So you had a pause too? Didn't expect him to
- 0:49Speaker 1: pause either. I'm not gonna lie. We wanted to be
- 0:52Speaker 1: more explosive. We wanted to be more of a threat
- 0:54Speaker 1: on the outside. And it's it's cool to want things
- 0:57Speaker 1: you can't stimulate what it's gonna be like in the
- 0:58Speaker 1: middle of December, and I think he went up to
- 1:01Speaker 1: Antarctica and worked out on an iceberg. I like it
- 1:04Speaker 1: when people say where's Andy these days? Whatever happened? Whatever
- 1:07Speaker 1: happened to Andy? Does he any need the theme song?
- 1:09Speaker 1: Do we do? Do we tap the ladies for a
- 1:12Speaker 1: you know, a return from practice work happened late. It's
- 1:15Speaker 1: the tree falls in the wood. Nobody hears it. Yeah right,
- 1:18Speaker 1: and we're back to Yeah right. I think the biggest
- 1:20Speaker 1: thing a lot of shots here. I'm not telling you
- 1:24Speaker 1: that that's wrong, okay, because that whole ideas away. Last
- 1:27Speaker 1: season at home against the Bills, he went around to
- 1:29Speaker 1: the fans screaming SMD Yeah what does that mean? What
- 1:33Speaker 1: do you think you saved my drink? Oh? Biggest Jets
- 1:37Speaker 1: game here in a decade? Is that you think this
- 1:39Speaker 1: is the biggest game here since since that playoff game?
- 1:42Speaker 1: My god, I don't rank them. This is Patriot's Unfiltered,
- 1:45Speaker 1: fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It
- 1:51Speaker 1: is Thursday here at Chilette Stadium, getting ready for the
- 1:54Speaker 1: Jets on Sunday. We got a full studio, we got deuced,
- 1:58Speaker 1: we got Tomorrow, we got Alex, we got Paul me. Well,
- 2:02Speaker 1: some of us are getting ready for the Jets. Other
- 2:05Speaker 1: ones are getting ready to try to get Taylor Swift tickets.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Yeah guilty. Yeah, there's like a rumors are about a
- 2:11Speaker 1: link going out tickets. We can't get your tail. Don't
- 2:15Speaker 1: anyone calling and ask we get three shows coming out?
- 2:18Speaker 1: What what? What months has that? It may May? The
- 2:21Speaker 1: month of may be here before you know it, before
- 2:24Speaker 1: you know it, we'll be dead of the offseason. Yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 1: so yeah, we'll see. We'll see what happens here with
- 2:28Speaker 1: the uh. But if you see Alex not to tamaraw
- 2:31Speaker 1: so much, but if you see Alex suddenly freak out
- 2:33Speaker 1: and start tapping away, you know, you know, let's go time.
- 2:37Speaker 1: You don't care, I don't. I think she's very talented,
- 2:41Speaker 1: but I would never like fangirl over her like this.
- 2:44Speaker 1: But also it makes me think she chastising. I'll never
- 2:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna see if I can work my magic here,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but I do wonder, like it is very impressive to
- 2:58Speaker 1: see the way people are, Like my entire Instagram, like
- 3:02Speaker 1: all my Instagram stories, everyone was showing the same screenshot
- 3:05Speaker 1: of like waiting in the queue for the tickets. I
- 3:07Speaker 1: don't think I have seen any other artist in the
- 3:11Speaker 1: same situation, Like I have not seen anything like this before, No,
- 3:15Speaker 1: especially here. I mean, yeah, people upstairs, you could cut
- 3:18Speaker 1: Gillette is like a famous show for Taylor Swift. It's
- 3:21Speaker 1: like the first one she ever first stadium she ever
- 3:24Speaker 1: sold out the first time a woman sold out Gillette,
- 3:28Speaker 1: So a lot of like emotional significance. So it's also
- 3:31Speaker 1: like the destination concert. People come from all over the
- 3:34Speaker 1: country for this show. So would you say that women
- 3:39Speaker 1: Taylor Swift is to women the way Bruce Springsteen is
- 3:42Speaker 1: to men, like it's cultish a little bit? Yeah, yes,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I feel that. I always thought that was just like
- 3:47Speaker 1: the BBWAA, like they had to be they had to
- 3:50Speaker 1: be like a Red Sox beat writer to you know,
- 3:52Speaker 1: follow like like, oh yeah, Bruce, Bruce. I know, I
- 4:00Speaker 1: I got I don't want to say I got drag
- 4:01Speaker 1: because I do like Bruce, but I'm not one of those.
- 4:03Speaker 1: But I went down to jer Z once with some
- 4:05Speaker 1: friends who are just you know, there's a certain people
- 4:07Speaker 1: that Bruce breaks to my soul, and I think that's
- 4:09Speaker 1: how a lot of people are right now with with
- 4:11Speaker 1: Taylor Swift. Yeah, well, she has like a song for
- 4:14Speaker 1: every aspect of your life. I don't know, I think
- 4:16Speaker 1: I'm a writer honestly because of her is so corny.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I hate myself, I hate I am. I am so basic.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Alex was about to open up. I pride myself on
- 4:29Speaker 1: being like this cultured woman of substance and intelligence, and
- 4:33Speaker 1: then this week comes and like it just turned to
- 4:38Speaker 1: go yeah, very much. Well, now I'm hoping that the
- 4:41Speaker 1: email comes through while we're on the air a lot,
- 4:44Speaker 1: especially on video, because you know, you'll just she has
- 4:47Speaker 1: done a great job, you know, in terms of like
- 4:49Speaker 1: her whole machine marketing and all it, because that is
- 4:53Speaker 1: right about it's there's a lot of big acts and
- 4:56Speaker 1: that sell out state. But like, I don't think you
- 4:59Speaker 1: get this kind of of outrage over Ticketmaster the way
- 5:03Speaker 1: you did, like on Tuesday, because that stupid code that's
- 5:06Speaker 1: supposedly yeah only only you know the fan, the real fans,
- 5:12Speaker 1: the real swiftiest guy. She's done a really good job
- 5:14Speaker 1: of marketing herself as like just and every girl, you know,
- 5:18Speaker 1: like she has problems too, she has guys at well,
- 5:21Speaker 1: that's why I was laughing when Alex said, you know,
- 5:23Speaker 1: like she has a song for everything. Now she has
- 5:25Speaker 1: really a song about one thing. Guys, every guy that
- 5:28Speaker 1: broke up, every guy too. She has a song this
- 5:31Speaker 1: album about a guy she cheat one Calvin Harris. She
- 5:34Speaker 1: wrote a song about it. Write a song, so just
- 5:36Speaker 1: write a song about it, you know. Yeah, her songs
- 5:39Speaker 1: have replaced songs like don't Stop Believing in Stadiums. You
- 5:43Speaker 1: know the song. I mean, I really haven't liked much
- 5:48Speaker 1: of like anything really recently. You don't like her new album? Yeah?
- 5:52Speaker 1: That really the anti hero song? Right, that's problem. It's me,
- 5:58Speaker 1: it's you only that, Mike? Do you only know that? Fans? No,
- 6:03Speaker 1: I like that song. I've actually learned that song. That's
- 6:06Speaker 1: so yeah, I'll pay it for you sometime. All right, well, okay,
- 6:09Speaker 1: all right, Patriots. That sends the Taylor Swift portion of
- 6:12Speaker 1: the show, as Alex turns into Google. We're hoping Patriots
- 6:15Speaker 1: fans are hoping Zach Wilson turns into Google. Yah. Oh,
- 6:18Speaker 1: well done? Right? The good Also, I really enjoyed the
- 6:23Speaker 1: opening sound. Was the decision ever made between would you
- 6:27Speaker 1: rather take Zach Wilson or Mac Jones? No, it's just
- 6:29Speaker 1: a lot of pauses, you know, it's unbelievable. I I said,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I would rather have Mac Jones, but you know me,
- 6:35Speaker 1: I tend to look at the bright side of things. Yeah,
- 6:38Speaker 1: and not everybody you agreed. No, I actually replied, and
- 6:41Speaker 1: I said, I'm intrigued of what Bill Belichick could do
- 6:44Speaker 1: with a guy with his physical and I think that's
- 6:48Speaker 1: a good answer, Yeah, because I think that even if
- 6:51Speaker 1: you're a huge Mac Jones supporter and think nothing of
- 6:55Speaker 1: Zach Wilson, you have to recognize that Zach Wilson physically
- 6:58Speaker 1: can do things that Mac Jones can't, right, Yep. I
- 7:01Speaker 1: just don't like the headband too though. That that's that's
- 7:03Speaker 1: you don't like the headband. I don't like a whole act.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I mean there's things about Mac I've expressed that I
- 7:07Speaker 1: don't like, asides from football. He kind of stuff too,
- 7:10Speaker 1: But yeah, the whole headPan was Zach Wilson. I think
- 7:13Speaker 1: he could. So we're coming to find out that Mike
- 7:15Speaker 1: just doesn't like anybody headband. I mean, does anybody like
- 7:19Speaker 1: the headband? Is anybody? Are there any Jet fans out there?
- 7:21Speaker 1: They're like not want them to lose the headband? Like
- 7:23Speaker 1: I with a headband used to watch Saved by the Bell. Hell, yeah,
- 7:27Speaker 1: the buddy bandy band. Headband is more like a basketball thing,
- 7:31Speaker 1: like why are you wearing a head but tennis? But
- 7:33Speaker 1: not even anymore? Really, that's true. I don't like the headband.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I don't know if I don't know, it's impractical. Yeah,
- 7:40Speaker 1: Like some guys have like big hair and they need
- 7:42Speaker 1: to contain it. But let's if yeah, if you have
- 7:44Speaker 1: long textured hair and like you need to pull it
- 7:47Speaker 1: back totally. But like Zach Wilson definitely has like thin
- 7:50Speaker 1: blonde hair, lose it, lose it. Well, it's like his
- 7:53Speaker 1: sort of his equivalent to war paint. You know, some
- 7:56Speaker 1: of the guys have the big war paint on, you know.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So I get excited throw interceptions. So I don't care
- 8:04Speaker 1: about the headband five was a Jets fan. I care
- 8:06Speaker 1: about the interceptions, you know. I mean, and that's that's
- 8:10Speaker 1: the thing that I mean that last game. I mean,
- 8:12Speaker 1: it just has to drive you absolutely nuts when you
- 8:14Speaker 1: feel like you have a chance, you've got a defense
- 8:16Speaker 1: is playing well, you've got talent um, just don't throw
- 8:19Speaker 1: terrible interceptions. It's like it's not even like they're like
- 8:23Speaker 1: these interceptions are terrible, Like you know, you're like, don't
- 8:26Speaker 1: throw it. I mean, you see him coming a mile away.
- 8:28Speaker 1: The game last year in New York, the game this
- 8:30Speaker 1: year in New York, where there's a couple of those
- 8:33Speaker 1: where you're just like, what are you doing, dude? Just
- 8:35Speaker 1: all of a sudden, you like way late in the down,
- 8:37Speaker 1: you're like, just throw it out of bounds and all
- 8:38Speaker 1: of a sudden, oh, he's going down field with it.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And then the dem mccordy is just you know fair
- 8:41Speaker 1: and anybody can make a bad throw. Like the first interception,
- 8:44Speaker 1: the one that Bentley had was just a bad throw.
- 8:46Speaker 1: We threw it over the top of the running back
- 8:48Speaker 1: and just misfired. The other two would exactly what you're
- 8:51Speaker 1: talking about, like, don't do it. He's gonna do it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And you have all this time to even think this
- 8:56Speaker 1: while you're watching because it's so late in the down right,
- 8:59Speaker 1: and he's just keeps running. Then he gets to the
- 9:02Speaker 1: sideline and he started a back pedal, and it's like,
- 9:05Speaker 1: don't do it, right, don't do it. He's going to
- 9:07Speaker 1: do it. It's so perfect. You know, when the Jets
- 9:10Speaker 1: have been playing well this year, it's when he's not
- 9:12Speaker 1: throwing a lot of passes. Now, you know, Hall's hurt,
- 9:15Speaker 1: you know, so that was a big part of them
- 9:18Speaker 1: playing well. You know, the running game in the defense
- 9:21Speaker 1: I thought it was. But but with him hurt, can
- 9:24Speaker 1: they establish a good running game or are they going
- 9:27Speaker 1: to panic and say, you know, we've we've got to
- 9:29Speaker 1: throw the ball. Yeah, I thought it was interesting Jonathan
- 9:32Speaker 1: Jones yesterday saying, like against the Bills, he played pretty
- 9:35Speaker 1: much they did pretty much opposite of what they did
- 9:37Speaker 1: against us, and you know, it just did a complete
- 9:39Speaker 1: acknowledgement of that. And I think that that's what they're
- 9:42Speaker 1: expecting going in that. You know, Zach Wilson isn't going
- 9:44Speaker 1: to give this game to on the silver platter. I
- 9:46Speaker 1: don't think he's going to either. I just think it's
- 9:48Speaker 1: a question of, you know, where's the gray area in
- 9:50Speaker 1: terms of the mistakes is does he play lights out
- 9:53Speaker 1: or does he you know, play Okay, he stays out
- 9:55Speaker 1: of the way, they run the ball a little bit.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You know, he doesn't really have to do much, but
- 10:00Speaker 1: it's it's big. I do think that, like the Bill's
- 10:02Speaker 1: defense has been kind of depleted in the sense with
- 10:05Speaker 1: so many people coming in and off the injury report
- 10:07Speaker 1: um with like guys like Poorer and like they've had
- 10:10Speaker 1: like three or four guys out I feel like almost
- 10:12Speaker 1: every single game. So it's like when the Jets played them,
- 10:15Speaker 1: they were able to kind of reverse it and not
- 10:17Speaker 1: throw it as much from the ball more. But against
- 10:19Speaker 1: the Patriots defense, are you going to be able to
- 10:21Speaker 1: do the same thing because everyone's going to be playing
- 10:22Speaker 1: on Sunday. Yeah, oh yeah, So it's a good Jets
- 10:25Speaker 1: defense for sure. Man, you know, it's I mean a
- 10:27Speaker 1: good point two. I was just reading two Buffalo snowstorm coming,
- 10:30Speaker 1: but they also have illnesses going through right now too,
- 10:33Speaker 1: So they said that, you know, they'll be counting that
- 10:35Speaker 1: storm in feet nine inches think four yeah, like four
- 10:40Speaker 1: feet and so yeah, they're they're thinking about moving. And
- 10:42Speaker 1: then I saw something about a potential thunderstorm. I was like,
- 10:46Speaker 1: what what is what? It was like a snow thunder,
- 10:49Speaker 1: snow thunder or something. I was like, what, what's I've
- 10:52Speaker 1: never heard? We were there once and that happened. What
- 10:54Speaker 1: is that you? And I like, it's thundering and stowing
- 10:56Speaker 1: at the same Yeah, yeah, well such an anomaly. Yeah,
- 11:00Speaker 1: like Buffalo Buffalo normally coming off the lake the lake effects,
- 11:05Speaker 1: no lake effect right effects? Was the worst. I wouldn't know,
- 11:09Speaker 1: but it sounds like it's gonna be bad this this week.
- 11:12Speaker 1: So yeah, Paul was saying that I forget what year
- 11:14Speaker 1: it was, but you know, we got there and it
- 11:18Speaker 1: was snowing like you couldn't even see. And then by
- 11:20Speaker 1: the time the game started, the sun came out. Yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 1: you know, you guys have probably had quite a few
- 11:24Speaker 1: games of weather craziness there. I remember that came in.
- 11:27Speaker 1: The wind was eight o eight or nine, was just
- 11:32Speaker 1: taking right turns. Yeah, yeah, it was crazy. I was
- 11:34Speaker 1: doing at the time. I was doing the pregame show
- 11:37Speaker 1: for Wei and I used to go to the stadium
- 11:40Speaker 1: at like eight o'clock in the morning, get set up,
- 11:45Speaker 1: you know, on an I SDN line and do the show.
- 11:48Speaker 1: And I was literally like the only one in the
- 11:50Speaker 1: press box, and there was like a couple of stadium
- 11:53Speaker 1: workers on the field, and you know the big white
- 11:56Speaker 1: heated benches. They were blowing around the field like just
- 12:01Speaker 1: from one side of the field to the other. That's
- 12:03Speaker 1: how windy it was. Those big white benches that the
- 12:05Speaker 1: players sit on in bad weather. We're just like flying
- 12:08Speaker 1: around the field. And there was no one out there,
- 12:10Speaker 1: like it was just the goal post where that's more
- 12:15Speaker 1: last year, right like that that was worse than last year's.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, the wind. The wind that day was well,
- 12:24Speaker 1: I think I think it was more consistent. Yeah, that
- 12:27Speaker 1: was gusty. Like you you'd be like, okay, let's let's
- 12:30Speaker 1: get to snap in between gusts and then it would
- 12:32Speaker 1: gust up in the ball. Like I said, it would
- 12:34Speaker 1: take a right Yeah, I remember, and I don't remember,
- 12:36Speaker 1: but I think it was blowing more side to side,
- 12:39Speaker 1: whereas I think they were going into the wind and
- 12:42Speaker 1: with the wind last year, right, Yeah, I remember that.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I remember one where it was like the past would
- 12:46Speaker 1: start off normal and then it would go like right angle. Yeah,
- 12:49Speaker 1: and then everybody just kind of it was just missed
- 12:52Speaker 1: an extra point in that game that completely just took
- 12:55Speaker 1: a turn. It just went completely sideways. His mom said
- 12:58Speaker 1: he made it, though I think he yelled at me
- 13:01Speaker 1: and said he actually made it. Yeah, that's an inside
- 13:04Speaker 1: jokes joke, Yeah, Mike. That was one of Mike's introductions
- 13:07Speaker 1: to this. He must have been thinking, what am I
- 13:09Speaker 1: getting himself? Because he either made the kick or you didn't.
- 13:12Speaker 1: He's arguing that he actually made a kick that he missed.
- 13:15Speaker 1: So yesterday we had our first practice participation report. Yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Um and uh it's really based on like how they
- 13:23Speaker 1: left off the Wednesday after a buy. So we'll see
- 13:26Speaker 1: today if anything changes. But um, there's still some you know,
- 13:30Speaker 1: significant guys on the report for the Patriots at a
- 13:33Speaker 1: question not questionable, but we're limited. Yeah, Barmore still dealing
- 13:38Speaker 1: with with an issue that's been uh that's been unfortunate here.
- 13:41Speaker 1: It's kind of derailed his his season. I think one
- 13:43Speaker 1: of the things I said in training care was like,
- 13:44Speaker 1: can we just get through a season with Christian Barmore
- 13:46Speaker 1: being healthy? The whole time, I just was so excited
- 13:48Speaker 1: to see what he could do. I know he you know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: didn't set the world on fire early on, but but
- 13:52Speaker 1: I'd love to see him get back out there. Just
- 13:54Speaker 1: guy that can bring a boost and help a lot.
- 13:55Speaker 1: The other one that got added was Jake Bailey with
- 13:58Speaker 1: a back issue. You know, for a punter other than
- 14:01Speaker 1: your leg, I think the back would probably be one
- 14:03Speaker 1: of the worst things you can have, right, Yeah, it's
- 14:06Speaker 1: I mean talk about I mean, he's another guy who's
- 14:08Speaker 1: been kind of in the crosshairs of people for you know,
- 14:12Speaker 1: subpart performances here, not gonna help, not going to help.
- 14:16Speaker 1: And I mean it's just funny though, because like you
- 14:18Speaker 1: talk about the punter and you're like, well, I hope
- 14:19Speaker 1: you don't need the punter, you know, Like I would
- 14:21Speaker 1: love it if, hey, maybe the offense could pick up
- 14:24Speaker 1: some first downs and move the ball a little bit
- 14:25Speaker 1: and you know, take some of the pressure off him.
- 14:27Speaker 1: But I think the Punters are going to be key
- 14:29Speaker 1: field position. I think it's both teams. Fred, it's funny
- 14:32Speaker 1: you bring that up. I talked to Slater yesterday in
- 14:34Speaker 1: the locker room and I asked him, I said, you know,
- 14:36Speaker 1: in that first game versus the Jets, you guys did
- 14:38Speaker 1: a great job containing Braxton burials and not giving him
- 14:41Speaker 1: the opportunity to give the Jets good field position. And
- 14:44Speaker 1: he said, yeah, I don't think it's going to be
- 14:46Speaker 1: that easy this time. He was like, that game, we
- 14:49Speaker 1: did a really good job with not allowing him to
- 14:51Speaker 1: get those big returns. He's like, but I know that
- 14:53Speaker 1: the Jets are going to come out this game play
- 14:55Speaker 1: a lot tougher and want to get him the ball
- 14:58Speaker 1: so that they can have better field position, especially going
- 15:00Speaker 1: against the Patriots defense, who's going to be playing them
- 15:02Speaker 1: just as tough. Yeah, you can't stop Broxton Barrios. You
- 15:05Speaker 1: can only hope to contain Yeah, He's he later, We're
- 15:09Speaker 1: we're expecting them to look totally different than what they did. Yeah.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I mean Bill mentioned before the bye or he mentioned
- 15:16Speaker 1: yesterday that the Jets will have wrinkles for us, and
- 15:18Speaker 1: we'll have wrinkles for them. Yeah, but you know, it's
- 15:21Speaker 1: only been two weeks or you know, three maybe, but
- 15:24Speaker 1: but you know, like how many wrinkles can you really have?
- 15:28Speaker 1: You know? Well, I think for the Patriots, I'd love
- 15:30Speaker 1: to see them just have wrinkles that they've like, are
- 15:32Speaker 1: attempting to make some changes. And you know, I saw
- 15:34Speaker 1: yesterday Andrew Callahan kind of highlighted what Evan said on
- 15:37Speaker 1: the show of of Trent Brown taking some early snaps
- 15:39Speaker 1: at left tackle. So I wanted to talk about that.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I was gonna wait for Evan to get here, because
- 15:44Speaker 1: they seemed to make it out some of the other
- 15:46Speaker 1: writers made it out to be a little bit different
- 15:48Speaker 1: than what Evan described. Oh yeah, and I think Evan's
- 15:51Speaker 1: right based on the injury report, because Trent Brown is
- 15:55Speaker 1: not on the injury report, a lot of people were
- 15:57Speaker 1: sort of indicating that Trent Brown didn't have his helmet
- 15:59Speaker 1: on um and Brown, I mean, Wynn was working in
- 16:04Speaker 1: at left tackle, you know, whereas Evan kind of said,
- 16:08Speaker 1: there was sometimes where they were flo foot flopping right.
- 16:11Speaker 1: And he's not on the injury report, so this whole
- 16:13Speaker 1: like he wasn't taking snaps at left tackle because he
- 16:16Speaker 1: doesn't have his helmet or whatever doesn't doesn't drive with
- 16:20Speaker 1: the fact that he's not um listed as having any injuries.
- 16:24Speaker 1: The only thing about that, though, like if they were
- 16:26Speaker 1: thinking of making that switch is why would they show
- 16:29Speaker 1: it during media availability? Right, That's the only thing that
- 16:32Speaker 1: gets me. It's like, h yeah, you know I have
- 16:34Speaker 1: left I'm not saying they're going to switch them. I'm
- 16:36Speaker 1: saying I think that some people were like, oh, Trent
- 16:40Speaker 1: Brown is banged up and now they're working Isaiah Win
- 16:42Speaker 1: at left tackle. H And I'm not sure that that's it,
- 16:45Speaker 1: that's accurate. But we'll get another look at it today,
- 16:48Speaker 1: so we'll see what's going on. And Evan will be
- 16:51Speaker 1: popping in after practice. The practice, I think they're twelve
- 16:54Speaker 1: forty again today. Yeah, it's another session and uh yeah
- 16:58Speaker 1: we're here from mac yesterday back out did ah what
- 17:01Speaker 1: was the word what do you say, did a full
- 17:03Speaker 1: uh not self analysis? Whatever? If I'm blanket on the
- 17:07Speaker 1: word everybody's using, but self scouting, self scouting kind of
- 17:09Speaker 1: you know, couldn't quite pin him down exactly. I mean,
- 17:12Speaker 1: you know, I feel like Tommy Curran's really, so what
- 17:15Speaker 1: would you say, you guys do good like that? That's
- 17:18Speaker 1: kind of been his line of questioning the last couple
- 17:20Speaker 1: couple of press conferences. And I thought Karen Garigian worded
- 17:25Speaker 1: her question well in that, you know, she asked him,
- 17:28Speaker 1: are you confident in the changes that were made over
- 17:32Speaker 1: the bye that they'll help assuming that there were changes made,
- 17:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So she's kind of leading
- 17:38Speaker 1: the witness there, Yeah, you know, like giving him the offer.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Here's the ramp, take the offer right here. And he
- 17:44Speaker 1: was like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, yeah, okay, yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 1: he he just doesn't give you anything. And in these
- 17:52Speaker 1: press conferences, and I mean, I granted, I've only had
- 17:55Speaker 1: Brady and Cam Newton virtually, so this is really compared
- 17:59Speaker 1: to Brady, this is only my second quarterback that I've
- 18:02Speaker 1: gotten to see in these kind of press conference situations.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And I know that they keep the reins tight on them,
- 18:08Speaker 1: but they just neededn't give you nothing. I mean, did
- 18:11Speaker 1: Brady ever? Did David Brady ever get did he get
- 18:13Speaker 1: less interesting? Ever? Like randomly sometimes interesting? Or was it
- 18:17Speaker 1: every kind of the same. Yeah, every once in a
- 18:18Speaker 1: while he had a message and you know you'd be
- 18:22Speaker 1: like whoa, you know, like remember the Marty shot in
- 18:23Speaker 1: Himer won't don't talk. He got really pissed yea, and
- 18:29Speaker 1: all Mardy shot I was trying to you know, like
- 18:33Speaker 1: you know, we just smacked the Patriots around at Jillette
- 18:36Speaker 1: Stateum had nothing to do with us. It was like
- 18:38Speaker 1: they're just missing a lot of personnel. We caught him
- 18:40Speaker 1: at a good time. Yeah right, and Brady got pissed.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Don't talk about our team, right, take our team out
- 18:47Speaker 1: of your mouth. Yeah, I mean Marty, I think Brady
- 18:49Speaker 1: Brady never really gave you much. It was just more eloquent.
- 18:53Speaker 1: It was all fluff. But Max still kind of I think,
- 18:55Speaker 1: kid take learning the ropes of dealing with the media
- 18:58Speaker 1: and the podium. Tom did it first how many years?
- 19:00Speaker 1: And I just don't when you can see the talking
- 19:03Speaker 1: point like they get asked the question and then you
- 19:05Speaker 1: see kind of like the knee like downloading downloading answer,
- 19:09Speaker 1: you know, Uh, don't don't you know, talk about yourself. Uh,
- 19:13Speaker 1: don't make comparisons like there's gonna be like confident that
- 19:16Speaker 1: the changes that you made during the bye week where
- 19:19Speaker 1: I know I know this one. What did he want
- 19:21Speaker 1: me to say, I know, I know it, I know it.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I mean everybody's making a change. Yeah, you know, well
- 19:26Speaker 1: that's like the NFL. We do that all the time.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Or he makes some some reference to Pop Warner football
- 19:31Speaker 1: or that's what I love about football. It's it's always
- 19:33Speaker 1: the same. Yeah. Yeah, I mean they asked him. I
- 19:37Speaker 1: mean I thought was a good question. You already was
- 19:38Speaker 1: just like, you know, you had a week off, how
- 19:39Speaker 1: does how does the ankle feel? Well, everybody's hurt, everybody's
- 19:43Speaker 1: recovering from something. It's always take the specific and make
- 19:47Speaker 1: it general. But um, yeah, I just I hope, I
- 19:50Speaker 1: hope they find something this week. I think that's what
- 19:52Speaker 1: everybody's kind of waiting to see. And you know, I
- 19:55Speaker 1: I don't want to say that people are going to
- 19:56Speaker 1: be impatient, but I think to Evans point yesterday of
- 19:59Speaker 1: the come right out handoff two yard loss right up
- 20:03Speaker 1: the middle, you know, like like you just I don't
- 20:06Speaker 1: want to say that. I was wondering what's more important,
- 20:09Speaker 1: like a strong start or a strong finish here not
- 20:11Speaker 1: of course you'd love to have both, but you know,
- 20:14Speaker 1: I continue to feel like they need to get a
- 20:16Speaker 1: strong start, Like there's no bad start that I've seen
- 20:19Speaker 1: them be able to overcome yet. So it just seems
- 20:21Speaker 1: like the first drive. You put so much weight onto
- 20:24Speaker 1: it watching the game, aside from the score, what will
- 20:27Speaker 1: be your first indicator in this game that okay, the
- 20:30Speaker 1: Patriots are going to be okay they put I just
- 20:33Speaker 1: they put together one of their classic first drives, a
- 20:36Speaker 1: game where it all like they planned it out, it
- 20:38Speaker 1: all works. They go down the field and they put
- 20:40Speaker 1: points on the board. I mean ideally a touchdown. Sorry, Tamara, No,
- 20:43Speaker 1: you're fine. I think I was thinking about something. Jacoby
- 20:46Speaker 1: said to me. Yes, you're in the locker room. Because
- 20:48Speaker 1: for the defense, for the most part, they said they
- 20:50Speaker 1: want to reset because they know the Jets offense is
- 20:52Speaker 1: gonna come out and look differently. And Jacoby said, well,
- 20:54Speaker 1: we don't want to reset. He's like, we need to
- 20:57Speaker 1: completely redo. He's like, we need to go out there
- 20:59Speaker 1: and play better. And the biggest piece, yeah, he said,
- 21:04Speaker 1: he said he want. He was like, we want to
- 21:07Speaker 1: go out there and be able to stand on our own.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Let me say that again. Call are so distracted, he said.
- 21:14Speaker 1: He said, we want to go out there and be
- 21:15Speaker 1: able to stand on our own. And I thought about
- 21:17Speaker 1: it and I'm like, that's true. They haven't been able
- 21:20Speaker 1: to stand on their own. They've been leaning on the
- 21:21Speaker 1: defense to score touchdowns or leaning on the special teams
- 21:24Speaker 1: to give them great feel position to the other team exactly.
- 21:27Speaker 1: And so he's like, there are things that we still
- 21:29Speaker 1: need to fix, and we need to be able to
- 21:31Speaker 1: stand on our own, and and all these wins they
- 21:33Speaker 1: have not sit on their own. So whenever a guy
- 21:35Speaker 1: says something like that, we don't need to reset, we
- 21:38Speaker 1: need to redo. Yeah, I wonder, Okay, where did he
- 21:40Speaker 1: get that from? Is that from is that he just
- 21:43Speaker 1: made that up on the spot, or is that like
- 21:45Speaker 1: a theme that he's been hearing throughout the week. Yeah? Yeah,
- 21:50Speaker 1: he the way he was like, well, on the offense,
- 21:52Speaker 1: we don't think we need to reset. Like the defense,
- 21:54Speaker 1: they're all saying the same thing, like we can't go
- 21:55Speaker 1: out there with the same mindset that we had in
- 21:57Speaker 1: the first game because they're not going to play us
- 21:58Speaker 1: the same. Whereas the offense it is like we didn't
- 22:01Speaker 1: do anything well in that game at all, Like we
- 22:02Speaker 1: need we need to figure it out. Do over, yah,
- 22:05Speaker 1: do over. So I just think it was interesting how
- 22:08Speaker 1: like they are both on like different focuses I guess
- 22:12Speaker 1: going into the game, uh Deuson your roundtable today, you
- 22:16Speaker 1: mentioned that Parker wasn't available once. Now yeah, and now
- 22:21Speaker 1: he is this this game, So like, what difference does
- 22:24Speaker 1: he make in this game, if at all? I mean,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I don't want to overstate it because obviously it's been
- 22:29Speaker 1: inconsistent with him, but you know, I do think it
- 22:31Speaker 1: gives you at least another option to kind of throw
- 22:34Speaker 1: out there. And I mean, I think Sauce Gardner has
- 22:36Speaker 1: been really good, So try to avoid him, maybe pull
- 22:38Speaker 1: him away from from Myers if if you can. Um,
- 22:42Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, after I asked the question,
- 22:44Speaker 1: I was kind of like, well, it's clearly David Andrews
- 22:46Speaker 1: is the is the one you're excited to get back
- 22:48Speaker 1: that you think can make a difference. Didn't play at
- 22:50Speaker 1: all in those last two games, and you know just
- 22:52Speaker 1: how cold Strange looked, et cetera, et cetera. Um, you know,
- 22:55Speaker 1: I think Andrews is the guy that you hope can
- 22:57Speaker 1: can solidify the offensive line, get everybody kind of on track.
- 23:00Speaker 1: And but you know you always liked that Parker, and
- 23:03Speaker 1: I mean he certainly has had a couple of games
- 23:04Speaker 1: this year where he's been productive, so you know, more
- 23:07Speaker 1: productive at least than than Agalore or Bourne or Haunter
- 23:10Speaker 1: Henry or John Smith. So I like to see, like
- 23:13Speaker 1: to just get him out there. I mean, I think
- 23:15Speaker 1: it's just another option for him. We haven't really had
- 23:16Speaker 1: a game too where we've been able to kind of
- 23:19Speaker 1: show off like maybe they're all number two receivers, but
- 23:21Speaker 1: there's still a lot of them. There's depth and that
- 23:23Speaker 1: hasn't really been shown off in every any game we've had.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And Jets have a good secondary, and this feels like
- 23:29Speaker 1: the game that it's like it's like really all on
- 23:33Speaker 1: the offense. I just want like a finally a game
- 23:35Speaker 1: where they're comfortable. Everything kind of feels automatic. They spread
- 23:38Speaker 1: the ball around and I don't know, Yeah, they definitely
- 23:41Speaker 1: haven't been able to stand on their own. And I
- 23:43Speaker 1: keep thinking about that specific line from Jacoby, like we
- 23:47Speaker 1: want to stand on our own and they haven't been
- 23:50Speaker 1: able to do that. What odds do you give that
- 23:52Speaker 1: the Patriots come right on offense, come out and go fast,
- 23:56Speaker 1: you know, no huddle, like pick up the pace. I'm
- 23:59Speaker 1: that first I could see that. I could see it,
- 24:01Speaker 1: But I also think that you guys need to dip
- 24:05Speaker 1: your feet into it, Like I don't feel confident that
- 24:07Speaker 1: you can come out and run play play. You know,
- 24:11Speaker 1: you're you're all on the same page, you're all coordinated
- 24:13Speaker 1: like that. I mean, I like it in theory, but
- 24:16Speaker 1: I think the Jets are a team that doesn't really
- 24:19Speaker 1: rely on a lot of different personnel packages. They can
- 24:21Speaker 1: just kind of roll with what they have. So I
- 24:24Speaker 1: don't know, I just I just want to get it right.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I don't think that the pace thing out of the
- 24:27Speaker 1: gate is necessarily that vital. I just get it right,
- 24:31Speaker 1: don't make turn it or don't have negative plays. Those
- 24:33Speaker 1: are the keys, and you know, you get faster, you
- 24:35Speaker 1: get ahead of yourself a little bit. You might not
- 24:37Speaker 1: you know, execute quite as well. But they've had two
- 24:39Speaker 1: weeks off, so I just want to see something out
- 24:42Speaker 1: of the gate because you've had time to change, time
- 24:44Speaker 1: to prepare. Everybody that's talking this week says the same
- 24:46Speaker 1: thing that I feel, which is that this is a
- 24:48Speaker 1: huge game and you know I must win, but it
- 24:51Speaker 1: feels like a must win. I think it's interesting that
- 24:53Speaker 1: both teams are coming up a bye, so they both
- 24:56Speaker 1: they're both gonna be well rested they both had plenty
- 24:58Speaker 1: of time to like think about everything and make adjustments
- 25:00Speaker 1: if they're going to and so I don't know, yeah,
- 25:04Speaker 1: I thought it isn't. Bentley was, you know, just saying
- 25:05Speaker 1: a little bit yesterday about you know, just they're so
- 25:07Speaker 1: fresh in your mind and you know you kind of
- 25:09Speaker 1: have some carry over in that regard. But there's nobody's
- 25:13Speaker 1: under any illusions. I don't think of what they're in
- 25:15Speaker 1: for this week. They're gonna get a tough team that's
- 25:17Speaker 1: gonna come in here and and it's gonna I think
- 25:18Speaker 1: it's gonna be a real good game. Absolutely, all right.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Eight five five past five hundred is the eight. Sicke
- 25:23Speaker 1: at hot line eight five five past five hundred. Let's
- 25:25Speaker 1: hear what you have to say. Uh, we'll start with
- 25:29Speaker 1: Todd North Carolina. Hey Toddy, Hey Todd, Todd, your phone sucks.
- 25:42Speaker 1: What's going on talking to the phone? There? We go? Yeah, yeah,
- 25:52Speaker 1: all right. So they I was listening to ESPN Radio
- 25:56Speaker 1: and they said if the Past make the playoffs, it'll
- 25:58Speaker 1: be Bill Belichick best coaching year that he's ever had.
- 26:02Speaker 1: So I was wondering, up to this point, what is
- 26:04Speaker 1: Bill's best coaching year? What do you guys think and
- 26:07Speaker 1: I'll take the enter for one. Thanks by wow. Quick
- 26:10Speaker 1: quick question. Best coaching year for Bill Belichick. The first
- 26:15Speaker 1: two that jumped to my mind are the first Super
- 26:16Speaker 1: Bowl in the last Super Bowl. I mean, I think
- 26:18Speaker 1: that those two teams were not the best teams. Um otherwise,
- 26:22Speaker 1: I think they were, you know, one of the best
- 26:24Speaker 1: teams in the league, and you know, I had among
- 26:26Speaker 1: the best personnel. I think those two teams weren't among
- 26:29Speaker 1: the best. And you know, coaching wise, I think it was.
- 26:32Speaker 1: It's pretty good. I don't know if there any other
- 26:33Speaker 1: ones to the mix. I mean, it's hard to be an.
- 26:36Speaker 1: He has one Coach of the Year a few times,
- 26:39Speaker 1: so I don't know. Yeah, but I mean you could say,
- 26:41Speaker 1: like I mean, eleven, they were terrible. They made it
- 26:44Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl. I mean, you know, I don't
- 26:46Speaker 1: want to hand out awards for that season because it
- 26:48Speaker 1: was so bad. But really it's so bad. He really
- 26:52Speaker 1: is unbelievable to go to the Super Bowl. Were terrible.
- 26:55Speaker 1: It was just I don't even want to think about
- 26:57Speaker 1: that because they were so bad. It's tired of twelve
- 27:00Speaker 1: and four came, you know, twelve seconds away from winning
- 27:03Speaker 1: the title. I mean, I don't even want to remember that,
- 27:06Speaker 1: but they were pretty bad. They were horrible defensively, And
- 27:09Speaker 1: I wouldn't put that on a list of accomplishments for
- 27:11Speaker 1: Belichick because he could he did nothing to fix the
- 27:13Speaker 1: defense all year. I would say that. Yeah, but the fact,
- 27:17Speaker 1: the fact that you're so like, you know, traumatized by
- 27:20Speaker 1: a trip to the Super bowls kind of speaks to
- 27:23Speaker 1: the I like what you said about the first Super Bowl,
- 27:26Speaker 1: oh one is his best coaching job? Yeah? Yeah, I
- 27:29Speaker 1: mean it's hard to get past that entirely new team
- 27:32Speaker 1: lost their franchise quarterback and they never lost again, right
- 27:36Speaker 1: like fourteen and three with Brady or something like that.
- 27:40Speaker 1: That that's that was an amazing accomplishment. Yeah, and then
- 27:43Speaker 1: the last one, I mean not quite as impressive. They
- 27:45Speaker 1: were obviously at that point the Patriots. I mean, they
- 27:48Speaker 1: were probably the second best team in the league. I mean,
- 27:51Speaker 1: I think we can all agree that Kansas City was
- 27:53Speaker 1: probably a little bit more talented. And they went into
- 27:56Speaker 1: Kansas City and yeah, won a war, I mean overtime war. Yep.
- 28:01Speaker 1: That was like one of their toughest paths in recent
- 28:03Speaker 1: memory too. That game was unbelievable. Unbelievable talk about entertainment. Yeah,
- 28:09Speaker 1: unbelievable for performance by so many people in the same Yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 1: you guys all rave about that. Just the experience of
- 28:15Speaker 1: that game, Like that's just one whenever that game comes up,
- 28:17Speaker 1: anybody from this you know, organization that was there just
- 28:21Speaker 1: seems to be like that was just the highlight of
- 28:23Speaker 1: of I guess the end of it, you know that
- 28:25Speaker 1: way they're like that was kind of the last well
- 28:28Speaker 1: they start out by, you know, shutting them out in
- 28:30Speaker 1: the first half. You know, I think they were up
- 28:33Speaker 1: fourteen nothing at the half, and thank god, you know,
- 28:37Speaker 1: because the Chiefs just kept you know, they came storming
- 28:41Speaker 1: back in the second half and I was just back
- 28:43Speaker 1: and forth and you know, so many third and long
- 28:46Speaker 1: fourth down plays that the Patriots had to make to
- 28:49Speaker 1: keep drives going. It was. It was amazing, Thank god
- 28:53Speaker 1: that Who was it on the Chiefs that jumped off sides?
- 28:57Speaker 1: D Ford didn't jump lined up WINDTP offside? Yeah, ish details,
- 29:04Speaker 1: Paul didn't take it everything anybody else? Sure his velcro
- 29:10Speaker 1: strap may have been in a neutral zone. Let's go
- 29:12Speaker 1: to Christian in LA. What's up Christian? Hey, you guys,
- 29:17Speaker 1: Happy Thursday. Thank you football again this week. For us,
- 29:21Speaker 1: the buy is over and we're at the halfway point. Um,
- 29:24Speaker 1: So a couple of things I want to ask you guys.
- 29:26Speaker 1: The one, I really hope that we've done something over
- 29:29Speaker 1: this buy to get Tikon Ford more into the offense.
- 29:34Speaker 1: This guy's one of the fastest guys in the NFL,
- 29:36Speaker 1: and there's no reason why with a little bit of
- 29:38Speaker 1: movement we can't get this guy exploding into some of
- 29:41Speaker 1: these secondaries and getting back at him in some brytain together.
- 29:44Speaker 1: That's one thing. The tecond thing is what I really
- 29:47Speaker 1: want to ask you guys, is what is it going
- 29:49Speaker 1: to take for us to develop an identity as a team?
- 29:52Speaker 1: Like what is this team identity? Are we a short
- 29:56Speaker 1: ass and team? Are we too back to Titan? What
- 30:00Speaker 1: we're going to take flus to developing identity? And have
- 30:03Speaker 1: you guys ever springs the team that doesn't really have
- 30:07Speaker 1: an identity going far into the playoffs or winning a
- 30:10Speaker 1: Super Bowl? I don't know, that's that's a really ambiguous question,
- 30:15Speaker 1: you know, yeah, like what comes first winning or the identity?
- 30:21Speaker 1: You know what I mean, You're probably right, I don't know.
- 30:22Speaker 1: There are certain teams that kansascy identity. They were throwing high,
- 30:27Speaker 1: high powered offensive team. That's their identities. I'm asking what
- 30:31Speaker 1: is our identity? And has there been a team that
- 30:33Speaker 1: doesn't really have a Well I think that's Fred's point.
- 30:36Speaker 1: It's like you get an identity when you win. Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 1: I think that's that's the point. You're trying to make
- 30:42Speaker 1: identity in some games. Yeah, I guess. I guess whatever
- 30:47Speaker 1: you do consistently is your identity. I would say if
- 30:50Speaker 1: they if they you know, let's say that they play
- 30:52Speaker 1: defense the way they did in the first nine games
- 30:54Speaker 1: and they end up going, you know whatever, six and
- 30:57Speaker 1: two down the stretch, their identity is defense. That's that's
- 31:01Speaker 1: their identity. Smart defensive team. Right what was we'd be
- 31:04Speaker 1: that defensive team that people Okay, well that's what they are. Yeah,
- 31:08Speaker 1: but right now they were mediocre five hundred ten And
- 31:11Speaker 1: the people keep asking this kind of question, like in
- 31:13Speaker 1: the press conference and stuff, and like like they stink,
- 31:15Speaker 1: Like what do you what do you want it to say?
- 31:17Speaker 1: Like they're like, go to any metric, they're not good offense.
- 31:19Speaker 1: What do you want to the identity is that they
- 31:21Speaker 1: don't produce, Like that's what it is right now? Whatever
- 31:24Speaker 1: they they've accomplished, it's defense. Their identity is defense. Like,
- 31:27Speaker 1: so what would you say the defense has been very
- 31:29Speaker 1: but an identity. But to Deuce's point, an identity can
- 31:31Speaker 1: be a negative. It doesn't have to be a positive. Absolutely,
- 31:35Speaker 1: it's whatever you do consistently that becomes your identity. Like,
- 31:39Speaker 1: do you remember it did did the Baltimore Ravens two
- 31:41Speaker 1: thousand team have an offensive identity? I don't know. I
- 31:43Speaker 1: don't know that was a defense anything about that offense.
- 31:46Speaker 1: You know, that was a defensive team of the team.
- 31:48Speaker 1: It was a defensive team, right, Yeah, And so I
- 31:51Speaker 1: got Masky. We're getting tut and more involved again. Why
- 31:55Speaker 1: can't this guy get down the field vertically? Christian Watson
- 31:58Speaker 1: can do it? You know, I think, okay, would you
- 32:02Speaker 1: have said that Christian Watson can do it before last week?
- 32:07Speaker 1: I thought he was fast enough and yeah, yeah he's fast,
- 32:10Speaker 1: but I mean confidence, I mean Mark, he's Goodwin has
- 32:12Speaker 1: been in the league, is the fastest guy in the
- 32:14Speaker 1: in the league for like ten years and never really
- 32:16Speaker 1: made an impact. Like Christian Watson made three touchdown catches
- 32:20Speaker 1: last week. Maybe maybe that's his coming out party. Maybe
- 32:24Speaker 1: he's going to be a great player in the second half.
- 32:26Speaker 1: He did nothing in the first half. Yeah, drop some
- 32:28Speaker 1: of those pots about our guy. What are going to
- 32:31Speaker 1: get our guy in that position? Get open for some
- 32:34Speaker 1: sort of breakout, Get open open, make a play, Give
- 32:37Speaker 1: Mac time yeah you know, yeah, it's just hard to
- 32:41Speaker 1: wish for those things when they can't protect them. You know,
- 32:43Speaker 1: have a little more time so Matt can sort of
- 32:46Speaker 1: wait a second and try to wait for this case
- 32:47Speaker 1: is developed. Yeah, okay, all right, all right, well let's
- 32:52Speaker 1: let's go. Let's go past, and here we go. Thanks.
- 32:55Speaker 1: I mean, I think question two is like, what could
- 32:57Speaker 1: their identity be like that? Like, I mean, if you
- 32:59Speaker 1: were I mean, I said today in the roundtable, like
- 33:02Speaker 1: what do you think they're ceiling? Is like, if it
- 33:04Speaker 1: all just went right and they started to it started
- 33:06Speaker 1: to work, what would it look like. I mean, I
- 33:08Speaker 1: still think that they're kind of a run first team
- 33:10Speaker 1: that's going to be off play action and you know
- 33:12Speaker 1: they're going to try to take some shots and you know,
- 33:14Speaker 1: on third down they're going to go to Jacobe Myers. Like,
- 33:16Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's if it all goes right. I
- 33:18Speaker 1: see that, but I don't see it. I don't see
- 33:20Speaker 1: this being a top ten offense they have. If they
- 33:23Speaker 1: have success in the second half, I think people will
- 33:25Speaker 1: look at them and say, Wow, the defense was able
- 33:28Speaker 1: to do it against the better teams. This is a
- 33:30Speaker 1: defensive team. Yep. They surprised us and they were able
- 33:34Speaker 1: to shut down the good offenses. Because I can't imagine
- 33:39Speaker 1: they're going to start winning thirty eight thirty five. I
- 33:41Speaker 1: don't think that that's in the cards. No, Nope. Brad's
- 33:46Speaker 1: of the Eastern Shore. What's up, Brad? Full Good afternoon
- 33:50Speaker 1: posts in New England. Hello, I've had a conference call
- 33:55Speaker 1: with M ANDT Bank, which is in Buffalo, and they
- 33:57Speaker 1: are actually shutting down their highway to afternoon and expecting
- 34:01Speaker 1: to shut down the airport by the night. Wow. That
- 34:04Speaker 1: looks like it's going to be a massive storm coming
- 34:06Speaker 1: in there too quick things. I am very confused as
- 34:13Speaker 1: to why after one get sweet hand off to Wentford touchdown,
- 34:19Speaker 1: we are not trying to get mister Thornton involved in
- 34:23Speaker 1: anything with feet either a quick pass to the flat,
- 34:29Speaker 1: quick little jab, two step plant, anything to get his
- 34:33Speaker 1: momentum going has been non existent since that one play.
- 34:39Speaker 1: I'm done with the title went towards stuff like I
- 34:44Speaker 1: now what happens when they throw the ball to one
- 34:46Speaker 1: so so last game they threw the ball there was
- 34:48Speaker 1: a bad pass at his shoes that he couldn't handle,
- 34:50Speaker 1: that he wasn't out of his break in. And if
- 34:52Speaker 1: you listen to like Dan Orlovsky, like, the timing of
- 34:55Speaker 1: the offense is the problem. Yeah, Like, I think that
- 34:58Speaker 1: they've given all of these guys as opportunities to do
- 35:01Speaker 1: things and they have not done that. Whether it's the
- 35:03Speaker 1: receiver's fault, the offensive line's fault, right, Matt Patricia's fault,
- 35:07Speaker 1: Mac Jones's fault. You go back to the last Jets game,
- 35:10Speaker 1: there was a pass over the middle that Thornton should
- 35:12Speaker 1: have had and I don't know if he heard footsteps
- 35:15Speaker 1: or something, but he was a drop. All of his
- 35:17Speaker 1: catches have been, and I actually think, to his detriment
- 35:21Speaker 1: has been short throws, and I don't think that's his
- 35:24Speaker 1: game standing still. No, Yes, if you go back and look, Paul,
- 35:31Speaker 1: almost every one of them have been a standing filled catch.
- 35:34Speaker 1: And then I mean, you might be right. He only
- 35:36Speaker 1: has nine catches, so like, I don't like, evidently they're
- 35:41Speaker 1: just misusing the greatest weapon in the history of football.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. He doesn't look ready. To me,
- 35:47Speaker 1: he does not look ready to contribute. As Fred said,
- 35:50Speaker 1: the ball goes off his shin on one play. He doesn't.
- 35:52Speaker 1: He's not looking on another play like this is a
- 35:55Speaker 1: Tae Kwon Thornton thing, not a you can put all
- 35:58Speaker 1: the blame on Matt Patricia you want, I don't look
- 36:01Speaker 1: the guy looks ready to be a major contributor. Like
- 36:04Speaker 1: in garbage time he ran an end around in for
- 36:06Speaker 1: a touchdown when there were up four touchdowns like great, Neat, neat.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I mean, that's the problem. We did it once and
- 36:16Speaker 1: it worked and we've never used it again. Okay, So
- 36:19Speaker 1: that we got to get him more involved as a
- 36:21Speaker 1: runner to see if we can break his call to
- 36:22Speaker 1: bond used him for what he's got and that speed.
- 36:27Speaker 1: There's a million guys in the league with speed. Can
- 36:30Speaker 1: he do anything? Can he make an impact? And so
- 36:34Speaker 1: far he hasn't. The answer to that is no, he
- 36:37Speaker 1: hasn't done it yet. I'm not giving up on him,
- 36:39Speaker 1: but but I mean, let's face it, he has not
- 36:42Speaker 1: made an impact. I mean not. Jacobe Myers is the
- 36:47Speaker 1: only receiver has made an impact. If Aglare had like
- 36:51Speaker 1: twenty catches, and I mean, if it was really like,
- 36:53Speaker 1: nobody is producing right now, so it's absolutely like we
- 36:57Speaker 1: can want Thornton to produce. And and I'm with you,
- 36:59Speaker 1: and I'm all, Lord Brad, I'm all for Tae Kwon Thornton.
- 37:02Speaker 1: You know, give him more opportunities to maybe get down
- 37:05Speaker 1: the field. I don't want him on short stuff. I
- 37:07Speaker 1: don't want him on quick slant so he can get
- 37:08Speaker 1: his light switch lower down, you know, with a with
- 37:10Speaker 1: a with a with a head of steam going in traffic.
- 37:13Speaker 1: That's not his game. Give him an end around, give
- 37:18Speaker 1: him a jet tweak him. I don't want that. I
- 37:20Speaker 1: don't want him in traffic so he can get smushed.
- 37:22Speaker 1: He's small and he already got smushed once. I want
- 37:26Speaker 1: him down the field. I want him making big plays
- 37:29Speaker 1: over the top. I wouldn't mind seeing some of those
- 37:31Speaker 1: Jerry Rice slants where you know he gets it and
- 37:33Speaker 1: just goes. I don't want that, I think, because I
- 37:37Speaker 1: think he'll be on I R and after the second
- 37:39Speaker 1: one like That's why I think he's too small, like
- 37:42Speaker 1: DeVante Parker by all means big body, quick slant. He
- 37:46Speaker 1: can withstand that punishment. And even he got hurt on
- 37:48Speaker 1: one of them, yea. The other. The other statement I
- 37:52Speaker 1: wanted to make real quick, guys, is I think when
- 37:55Speaker 1: you have to stay a guard. I know we're struggling
- 37:59Speaker 1: with the right side, but that's been the only constant
- 38:02Speaker 1: this team has had this season, and that and to
- 38:05Speaker 1: move him somewhere else, I feel like it's just throwing
- 38:09Speaker 1: in the Bill agrees. Yeah. I was gonna say, I
- 38:11Speaker 1: think Bill agrees with you. Yes, yeah, it sounds like
- 38:13Speaker 1: he's gonna stay there. Ye all right, thanks, thanks Brad.
- 38:19Speaker 1: You got Paul going, so job both. It's but Brad
- 38:22Speaker 1: didn't really get me going. It's the like, it's the
- 38:25Speaker 1: whole like. Whenever it's not working, it's always because somebody's
- 38:29Speaker 1: not getting involved in it. It's not because they're not
- 38:31Speaker 1: playing well. It's because someone is being grossly mission. Where
- 38:35Speaker 1: are we going to see more per strong? Right right? Look,
- 38:38Speaker 1: that's the pier strong of your block right right. And
- 38:41Speaker 1: I'm not telling you that Tae Kwon Thornton can't make place.
- 38:44Speaker 1: I like Taekwon Thornton. He's the only wide receiver that
- 38:47Speaker 1: I think will definitely be here next year. I think
- 38:50Speaker 1: you can make an argument for the other four being gone, right,
- 38:53Speaker 1: he's the only one I know we'll be here next year.
- 38:56Speaker 1: So I'm not giving up on Tai Kwan Thornton. But
- 38:58Speaker 1: at the same time, I'm not thinking this is justin
- 39:02Speaker 1: Jefferson reincarnet. They're just wasting him over there. I think
- 39:06Speaker 1: they can't do anything. Like you got to get to
- 39:08Speaker 1: the point where I like if they were forced feeding
- 39:10Speaker 1: Agalore and be like, man, this guy's probably not even
- 39:12Speaker 1: be here next year. We're wasting Thornton, like get him
- 39:14Speaker 1: more involved, Like I feel like they've been trying to
- 39:16Speaker 1: get him involved, but nobody's getting the ball downfield. And
- 39:19Speaker 1: I mean, and I think there's place too where Max
- 39:21Speaker 1: locking onto him trying to like almost like the personification.
- 39:25Speaker 1: I'd like to see that. I'd like to see them like,
- 39:29Speaker 1: let's let's get one downfield, Let's let's every game, let's
- 39:33Speaker 1: take a shot or two to Taekwon Thornton. I'm all
- 39:35Speaker 1: for of that. I think I think Brad is right.
- 39:37Speaker 1: I just don't like the manner in which Brad wants
- 39:39Speaker 1: to do it. An end around, Like an end around
- 39:41Speaker 1: is like yeah, that might work, Like I want stuff
- 39:45Speaker 1: that I can fall back on and that I can use. Yeah,
- 39:49Speaker 1: I want stuff like that, not like the other team's
- 39:52Speaker 1: not playing anymore and I run an end around because
- 39:54Speaker 1: they just fumbled for the fourth time in the last
- 39:56Speaker 1: like five plays and we just ran it in from
- 39:59Speaker 1: the fifteen yards line in a game that's already over.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Like that to me is not something that I could say.
- 40:04Speaker 1: They really need to do more of that. Like that's
- 40:06Speaker 1: when that play happened in the Cleveland game. It was
- 40:08Speaker 1: like the third turnover the fourth quarter inside the ten.
- 40:11Speaker 1: That was the Carl Davis play. He got the fumble
- 40:15Speaker 1: when ran it back to like the ten yard line, right,
- 40:17Speaker 1: wasn't that The next play was like an end around,
- 40:20Speaker 1: Like Cleveland really had a lot of interest in that play.
- 40:23Speaker 1: His other touchdown was pretty He had two touchdowns that game, right,
- 40:25Speaker 1: I mean that was decent. I mean it wasn't you know,
- 40:28Speaker 1: had some you know adjustment in the tickle in my
- 40:32Speaker 1: throat for me to call the priestate that today whoop
- 40:36Speaker 1: see called the priest Travis and Westfrid offensive. The Patriots
- 40:43Speaker 1: have a stretch coming up where they play three games
- 40:46Speaker 1: in twelve days. He says, there's a misconception that, uh,
- 40:50Speaker 1: they would normally play three games in twenty one days. However,
- 40:53Speaker 1: this is false. Under normal circle fifties, each team plays
- 40:56Speaker 1: three games every fifteen days. Fifteen days. Right, yeah, yeah,
- 41:01Speaker 1: ish right. I'm not good at man. Yeah, I know,
- 41:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the email start. I'm gonna touch trust.
- 41:07Speaker 1: The email is math not mine. That was a big
- 41:10Speaker 1: question yesterday in the press conference where at a certain
- 41:12Speaker 1: point you're like, dude, like they're they're one game at
- 41:15Speaker 1: a time. They ain't talking. No one makes more of
- 41:16Speaker 1: the Monday than the Patriots media quarter. Right, It's like
- 41:20Speaker 1: everybody that was, you know, teeing it off of three
- 41:23Speaker 1: games in twelve days, talk about the challenge. I'm just
- 41:25Speaker 1: focused on the Jets, man. But the challenge. The only
- 41:28Speaker 1: part of the challenge is the middle game. Yeah right, short,
- 41:31Speaker 1: because that's the short prep against the team you don't
- 41:33Speaker 1: really You play on a Sunday coming off a bye,
- 41:36Speaker 1: no issue there. Then you have a short week on Thanksgiving,
- 41:39Speaker 1: then you have a whole week for the next game,
- 41:41Speaker 1: no issue there. See that's another part. Nobody's mentioned like
- 41:43Speaker 1: they're coming off the buy, like they've had extra time
- 41:45Speaker 1: to get ready for this. Like it's not like they're like, oh,
- 41:48Speaker 1: you know, but the email is right, it's it's normally
- 41:50Speaker 1: whatever it is like fifth, Yeah, I think like fifty
- 41:53Speaker 1: Sundays every Sunday, three Sundays in a row. That's three
- 41:57Speaker 1: games in fifteen days. It's not one, which I think
- 42:00Speaker 1: I may have said earlier in the week, unless you
- 42:02Speaker 1: want to count the prep days leading into the game,
- 42:04Speaker 1: and then that might be more context for what we're
- 42:06Speaker 1: actually talking about in terms. But it's only one short week,
- 42:09Speaker 1: ye out of the three. Out of the three games,
- 42:11Speaker 1: it's one that's out of the ordinary. Yeah, And it's
- 42:14Speaker 1: the Thanksgiving night right then you got regular week till Buffalo,
- 42:17Speaker 1: and then you got a long week waiting for the
- 42:19Speaker 1: following what Monday. Now you would be off the mini
- 42:21Speaker 1: by a little mini by. So I don't like that
- 42:24Speaker 1: because it's a Monday night game off the Mini by,
- 42:27Speaker 1: And they don't like that. They don't like to confused
- 42:30Speaker 1: Joe and Wart New York. They might have to play
- 42:31Speaker 1: on Saturday. It's gonna be a big game this weekend.
- 42:33Speaker 1: The Jets defense is strong and aggressive. At the end
- 42:36Speaker 1: of the day, will mac Jones have be most resemble
- 42:40Speaker 1: Sam Ellinger or two A Tagliavola Ta say again, I
- 42:49Speaker 1: mean you're asking me, will mac Jones more closely resemble
- 42:52Speaker 1: a potential MVP candidate or the worst quarterback in the league?
- 42:56Speaker 1: Because that's put that question. Can I make the cop
- 42:59Speaker 1: out and say some were in between those two. I
- 43:01Speaker 1: don't think he's the worst quarterback in the league. I
- 43:03Speaker 1: don't think he's capable of playing like the best yet,
- 43:06Speaker 1: that's for sure. If there's a needle, which which way,
- 43:10Speaker 1: which which right? Right right in the middle, I mean,
- 43:13Speaker 1: based on what we've seen, if you had to say
- 43:16Speaker 1: one or the other, I'd go close to to Allinger
- 43:18Speaker 1: because that's where he is right now. Yeah yeah, and
- 43:21Speaker 1: against that defense too, it's it's it's gonna be tough.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Last year would have been closer to tour Yeah, yeah,
- 43:27Speaker 1: because he was like in the middle last year, right,
- 43:30Speaker 1: he was like yeah, perfect, he was an average quarterback
- 43:33Speaker 1: last year league? Why right? Great? So I would say
- 43:36Speaker 1: you're trending up this year, you're trending down over under
- 43:40Speaker 1: for Patriots sacked three this game over over. I'm gonna say,
- 43:45Speaker 1: under go get him. I think I think it's huge.
- 43:47Speaker 1: I think they gotta go get him, go get him.
- 43:49Speaker 1: But what I think he won his direction this wait
- 43:52Speaker 1: a minute. I think he moved well and I don't
- 43:54Speaker 1: think they're gonna throw it. So I entered that thinking like,
- 43:58Speaker 1: how many times is mac gonna be sacked? Oh no,
- 44:00Speaker 1: no Patriots sack Zach Wilson. I'd say three total. So
- 44:06Speaker 1: push push, I'm gonna say under because I think he
- 44:09Speaker 1: moves well. When they won't throw at a while, Yeah,
- 44:12Speaker 1: what's their on line situation? They were really banged up.
- 44:14Speaker 1: If I have another guy missing, say over right card? Yeah,
- 44:19Speaker 1: I don't know. I just I'm gonna have some some
- 44:23Speaker 1: bad thoughts if the defense comes out and doesn't really
- 44:26Speaker 1: force any turnovers and doesn't really get much pressure, because
- 44:29Speaker 1: then it's gonna be like it's twenty twenty one all
- 44:31Speaker 1: over again. The defense is going to go to sleep
- 44:34Speaker 1: after the bye week. So I mean, you guys are right.
- 44:36Speaker 1: I mean, I wouldn't worry about I think the defense
- 44:39Speaker 1: will look good this week, just not get sacks. Oh no,
- 44:42Speaker 1: I don't think they had a tremendous smart sax in
- 44:44Speaker 1: the first game. But I thought they had pressure. Yeah,
- 44:47Speaker 1: well that's what I feel like. I feel like you
- 44:49Speaker 1: need to get pressure this week because I don't think
- 44:51Speaker 1: I think I just I mean I'm going into the
- 44:52Speaker 1: game assuming that we're gonna just get like a pretty
- 44:54Speaker 1: good Zach Wilson that's not gonna do totally totally stupid things.
- 44:58Speaker 1: So I just think you have to force into it.
- 45:00Speaker 1: You know, you can't rely on like we were talking
- 45:01Speaker 1: about earlier, where he's kind of like end of the
- 45:03Speaker 1: downs but the modern and I just put it up
- 45:06Speaker 1: like maybe something will happen, like I don't think you're
- 45:07Speaker 1: gonna get those places this week, and you gotta, you know,
- 45:09Speaker 1: get in and push him over the edge and force
- 45:12Speaker 1: him into those mistakes. Bet in Liverpool, New England, Liverpool, England.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Listening to you guys the last few weeks, I get
- 45:20Speaker 1: the impression that Evan is a bit of a macapologist. Granted,
- 45:25Speaker 1: I do agree with him that he's been done dirty
- 45:28Speaker 1: for lack of a better term, in relation to the
- 45:31Speaker 1: coaching coordinator hires, Sons Josh, the roller skater impression, performance
- 45:38Speaker 1: of the old line, and the lack of a top
- 45:40Speaker 1: five wide receiver. That being set, I also think that
- 45:43Speaker 1: mac Jones has played badly and has left plenty of
- 45:46Speaker 1: plays on the field. Can I ask all of you,
- 45:48Speaker 1: round table style, how much of Mike Mike's Blamepie, Do
- 45:53Speaker 1: you think Mac Jones is responsible for in relation to
- 45:56Speaker 1: the offense looking desperately poor this year? Some not only
- 46:01Speaker 1: to do first percentages? Um, I don't know. I'm gonna,
- 46:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna. I mean, I think it's I don't think
- 46:06Speaker 1: it's I think the overall offense is a bigger problem.
- 46:09Speaker 1: So I would say that that the overall offense, design,
- 46:12Speaker 1: play calling, coaching gets like half the blame. Pie, I
- 46:16Speaker 1: might give Mac a quarter of the blame. Pie. What's
- 46:18Speaker 1: the last quarter protection? How about that? I think that
- 46:22Speaker 1: sounds about what I'm thinking. Yeah, I guess if you
- 46:23Speaker 1: break it up coaching quarterback receivers, old line, twenty five
- 46:29Speaker 1: percent sounds good. I just I mean, I don't. I mean,
- 46:32Speaker 1: I don't want to speak for Evan, but I don't.
- 46:34Speaker 1: I mean Mac is responsible for something. Samara has turned
- 46:37Speaker 1: into Evan? What happened? I have an ongoing debate in
- 46:41Speaker 1: my mind. Who do I want to come back as
- 46:43Speaker 1: in my next life? Belichick or mac Jones, because neither
- 46:46Speaker 1: can do any wrong? Uh? Ten percent? Okay, Evan, Yes,
- 46:53Speaker 1: it's back from practice. And then all right, Evan, what
- 47:11Speaker 1: do you got a little bit of bad news today. Unfortunately,
- 47:16Speaker 1: No Jonathan Jones at Patriots practice on Thursday now wasn't
- 47:21Speaker 1: on the injury report yesterday. There is an illness going
- 47:24Speaker 1: around the locker room that DeMarcus Mitchell has missed a
- 47:27Speaker 1: couple of practices with Damien Harris missed a game last
- 47:31Speaker 1: week due to illness. So potentially the flu bug or
- 47:35Speaker 1: whatever it is that's going around in the locker room
- 47:37Speaker 1: has found Jonathan Jones. But yeah, big one, No Jonathan
- 47:41Speaker 1: Jones out of practice. He seemed fun yesterday. Yeah, he
- 47:43Speaker 1: seemed did we all talked to him at the podium.
- 47:46Speaker 1: He's usual, usual, happy self. Yeah. Any insight into the
- 47:50Speaker 1: tackles today, Nope, No, uh stretching only so we got
- 47:55Speaker 1: kicked out before we could get into that. But I
- 47:58Speaker 1: think that the tackle situation yesterday was more about just rotation, right,
- 48:03Speaker 1: and you know, you cross train guys, get guys ready
- 48:06Speaker 1: in case of emergency. Trent Brown wasn't on the injury report,
- 48:09Speaker 1: so I highly doubt that that. I wouldn't look too
- 48:12Speaker 1: much into that yesterday, so I wanted to talk to
- 48:15Speaker 1: I was trying to wait for you to get here
- 48:17Speaker 1: on that because I mentioned it earlier. Some of your
- 48:21Speaker 1: other colleagues sort of indicated that he didn't have his
- 48:24Speaker 1: helm went on and yeah, you know, kind of intimating
- 48:27Speaker 1: that when was getting reps at left tackle in preparation
- 48:30Speaker 1: of playing left tackle because Trent Brown wasn't going to
- 48:32Speaker 1: be available. I completely dismissed that as a possibility. A
- 48:36Speaker 1: based on what you had said, yeah, when we were
- 48:38Speaker 1: on the show yesterday, and then b when the injury
- 48:41Speaker 1: report comes out, he's not on it right, so non factor.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I can't imagine this scenario where Trent Brown is not playing. Yeah,
- 48:49Speaker 1: I would agree with Evan. I'll just say tackle because
- 48:52Speaker 1: I guess there is a situation where maybe they did
- 48:54Speaker 1: decide during the bye week to flip them back to
- 48:57Speaker 1: where they were last year. But in terms of him
- 48:59Speaker 1: actually playing in the game or Trent Brown being the
- 49:02Speaker 1: odd man out here, I just I have no idea
- 49:04Speaker 1: how you get to that conclusion none. What else is
- 49:07Speaker 1: going on out there? Nothing? You know, it's starting to
- 49:10Speaker 1: feel like I said yesterday, it's chilly out again today
- 49:13Speaker 1: and did you have to bring gloves again today? I
- 49:16Speaker 1: didn't bring gloves and it's my hands are red. I
- 49:18Speaker 1: really have to get on that. I gotta get the gloves,
- 49:20Speaker 1: but yeah, you definitely yes, football weather, I guess is
- 49:27Speaker 1: the way that a lot of people would put it.
- 49:29Speaker 1: But it's it feels like second half of the season
- 49:33Speaker 1: in Foxboro, right, you know, its starting to get cold.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I know in Buffalo they're expecting like eight feet of
- 49:37Speaker 1: snow or something crazy like that. So we're getting into
- 49:40Speaker 1: that part of the year for sure. We just got
- 49:42Speaker 1: a report that they're closing the highway tonight. Oh my goodness. Yeah,
- 49:46Speaker 1: I think they're gonna have to move that game. Yeah,
- 49:49Speaker 1: what is football weather? I'm just wondering, like, does the
- 49:52Speaker 1: other team come in today or like what did they
- 49:54Speaker 1: do the other team? It's Cleveland. Yeah, it's not too
- 49:58Speaker 1: about too long with drive. Maybe the highways closed. Yeah, yeah,
- 50:01Speaker 1: we've big we've driven Yeah, the Buffalo whatever. Why do
- 50:06Speaker 1: you get this? Like the third time that I've referenced
- 50:09Speaker 1: bad weather in Buffalo with you on trips, and you've
- 50:12Speaker 1: looked at me as if I'm saying something completely out
- 50:14Speaker 1: of left field. We drove to Buffalo, We've driven home
- 50:17Speaker 1: from Buffalo as a team. Yes, I don't remember that.
- 50:20Speaker 1: I remember Andy still mad me because they had these
- 50:22Speaker 1: big trays of wings and they were passing him around
- 50:25Speaker 1: the bus on the way home, and everybody's half asleep,
- 50:28Speaker 1: and uh, you know, so you're getting the wings and
- 50:32Speaker 1: I get you know, Andy gets some. I take some,
- 50:34Speaker 1: and I what do you do when you're done? You
- 50:36Speaker 1: pass it on? Right? Comes over there? What'd you do
- 50:40Speaker 1: with those wings? I go, I passed them to the
- 50:43Speaker 1: next guy. Where are they? I go, I don't know,
- 50:45Speaker 1: they're up there somewhere. Why don't you go find out?
- 50:47Speaker 1: He's like pissed at me because I didn't just take
- 50:50Speaker 1: a couple of wings, and they give him the tray. Oh,
- 50:53Speaker 1: he's he's he's got Well that sounds part for the
- 50:55Speaker 1: course of the dyea. He just wanted the whole tray. Yeah, yeah,
- 50:57Speaker 1: And it was my fault that I had dask I
- 51:00Speaker 1: need to pass it along to the next game. I
- 51:02Speaker 1: remember taking a bus home from the Jets. We've done
- 51:06Speaker 1: that as well, and then the train and I remember, yeah,
- 51:09Speaker 1: And I remember from Buffalo having to spend an extra
- 51:12Speaker 1: night in Rochester because the hotel we were staying at
- 51:16Speaker 1: there was like this junior hockey national or no worldwide championship,
- 51:20Speaker 1: so the hotel was booked. We had to check out,
- 51:23Speaker 1: go to another hotel stay another night. I was on
- 51:26Speaker 1: that trip too. Yeah, weather game. Buffalo is always a
- 51:31Speaker 1: weather game, even if it's week one, but still a
- 51:33Speaker 1: weather game. I don't remember taking a bus back from
- 51:34Speaker 1: Buffalo really, huh. You didn't get any wings either. That's
- 51:40Speaker 1: like an eight hour trip, right, there was a long ride. Yeah.
- 51:43Speaker 1: Now I'm going to find out that it was a
- 51:45Speaker 1: Jets game and night. You know me, I misremember things
- 51:49Speaker 1: Buffalo Wings. After the Jets game was like, you know,
- 51:52Speaker 1: they canceled the flight and we took a bus, and
- 51:55Speaker 1: I mean it probably took us eight hours to get
- 51:58Speaker 1: from the Jets that Jets or Jets game. And I
- 52:01Speaker 1: remember they stopped on the like the pipe, you know,
- 52:03Speaker 1: like you're like driving the whole way, you know, like
- 52:06Speaker 1: you might as well just get home now. And all
- 52:08Speaker 1: of a sudden we stopped at like one of the
- 52:10Speaker 1: rest areas on the pike. I'm like, we're like ten
- 52:12Speaker 1: minutes from home. Can we just get home? Oh? I
- 52:14Speaker 1: hate that I got a I was hungry. Everybody want
- 52:17Speaker 1: to go stretch your legs. Ludlow probably former Eggs of
- 52:22Speaker 1: seven goes by it every day twice to the stars
- 52:26Speaker 1: every day. Can I ask a question what would be
- 52:31Speaker 1: football weather for you? Like, like you know, everyone's like, oh,
- 52:33Speaker 1: it's football weather. I feel like that, Like you start
- 52:35Speaker 1: in the summer, it goes through the fall, it gets
- 52:37Speaker 1: into the winter. You're saying it's getting cold, and people
- 52:39Speaker 1: are saying this is football weather. But for me, I
- 52:41Speaker 1: feel like football weather is like fifty five degrees October crisp,
- 52:48Speaker 1: Like that's for me, it's anywhere between thirty five and
- 52:50Speaker 1: fifty five. Yeah, I would five. No, I don't mind
- 52:54Speaker 1: if it's if it's a little cold. But I hate
- 52:56Speaker 1: like a lot of people say football like the whole
- 53:01Speaker 1: thing with with the this Bills game, and I've seen
- 53:03Speaker 1: some of this on Twitter, people saying, well, now we
- 53:06Speaker 1: can't play in the snow. It's it's not about it.
- 53:09Speaker 1: It's not about the public safety. Yes, it's about everything
- 53:12Speaker 1: that that that goes into putting an event on in
- 53:16Speaker 1: the stadium and having seventy five thousand people show up
- 53:19Speaker 1: in the middle of a four foot blizzard like that.
- 53:22Speaker 1: You know, at some point you might take a step
- 53:24Speaker 1: back and say they might take a home game from
- 53:26Speaker 1: Bill's Mafia to do you know half of them the
- 53:30Speaker 1: stay in overnight anyway, But to do to take a
- 53:33Speaker 1: home game from Bill's mafia. I've never understood the like
- 53:37Speaker 1: the whole football well, you know, that's that's how you
- 53:39Speaker 1: find out who the better team is. No One, No,
- 53:40Speaker 1: it isn't like what you know. And I don't want
- 53:43Speaker 1: to play in in eighty degree weather either. That's not
- 53:45Speaker 1: football weather either, you know, like the whole Miami thing,
- 53:48Speaker 1: they're just wintering you down. Like that's not football weather either.
- 53:51Speaker 1: And they also put you in the sun in Miami
- 53:53Speaker 1: where the home team has the shade, it's the doctor
- 53:57Speaker 1: the thermometer. Yeah, yeah, like there was like a twenty
- 54:01Speaker 1: degree difference on the two sidelines. They'll do something like
- 54:04Speaker 1: that against like the Titans and like go three or something.
- 54:06Speaker 1: They put so on the away team tunnel over here.
- 54:12Speaker 1: When they come out on the away team tunnel, there's
- 54:14Speaker 1: a thermometer on the on the like siding of the tunnel. Yeah.
- 54:19Speaker 1: And I remember when they played the Chargers here and
- 54:22Speaker 1: uh then eighteen playoffs twenty nineteen January twenty nineteen, all
- 54:26Speaker 1: the players were coming out and they were like, oh
- 54:28Speaker 1: my gosh, it's ten degrees, like you know, and all
- 54:31Speaker 1: these sunny San Diego Dies are like, oh, boy, I'll
- 54:35Speaker 1: tell your stories about them, you know, intentionally leaving the
- 54:38Speaker 1: snow on the sideline. They clear the field and instead
- 54:41Speaker 1: of taking the snow out of the bowl, Yeah, they
- 54:44Speaker 1: leave it on the sideline. Yeah, so the opponent absolute men. Yeah,
- 54:51Speaker 1: So I hate when the when the weather is the
- 54:54Speaker 1: mitigating factor and who wins the game? Got that, like
- 54:58Speaker 1: a lot of people do. Well, that's how you sign
- 55:00Speaker 1: of toughness. The tougher team wins. It's not like Patriots
- 55:02Speaker 1: Bills last year. Right, yeah, right, that's exactly what terrible Evan.
- 55:11Speaker 1: With the fact that you know the weather it's going
- 55:13Speaker 1: to be decent here this weekend, Did that help the
- 55:16Speaker 1: mood of the team at all. The mood of the
- 55:18Speaker 1: team was again, I actually they you know, look, you're
- 55:23Speaker 1: coming off the bye week. I think a lot of
- 55:25Speaker 1: the guys are ready to go, right, They want to
- 55:28Speaker 1: They want to get back into this and and get
- 55:31Speaker 1: back into playing games. And I feel the same way.
- 55:33Speaker 1: I mean, I'm I'm talking about the bit to have
- 55:35Speaker 1: a game to talk about again, because you know the
- 55:37Speaker 1: email that you read when I sat down, It's like,
- 55:38Speaker 1: how many times have we answered this email? Right? Of
- 55:41Speaker 1: who who's the blame? And where what's wrong with the offense.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Like we've done two weeks of this and it's like,
- 55:47Speaker 1: let's just play a game and it might look the same,
- 55:50Speaker 1: it might look different. It probably look the same, but
- 55:52Speaker 1: more sample size. We may want another sample to discuss.
- 55:55Speaker 1: At least we can talk about something else, you know,
- 55:57Speaker 1: some actual tangible evidence of this is what's going on?
- 56:01Speaker 1: All right, Well, we got a lot more to talk about.
- 56:03Speaker 1: We got picks today, so we have to hurry Paul's
- 56:07Speaker 1: foods here, so we'll take a break. But before we do,

- 1:04:24Speaker 1: even though your vaccinatity still have to wear a mask? Well, no,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: they want you to because not everybody else has gotten it. No,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: not everybody else has gotten it, so they could still
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: be curious at it, right, they're not sure yet. Okay,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: well that's that's why they're trying to be safe. Right.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: But if we don't want to go back, I know
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: I want bad. Well, you never know, strains, variants. I'm
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: reading right now the Middle Ages, and like we think
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: we've got it bad, what kind of should be good?
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: The bubonic playing we got nothing over that. I mean
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: literally half of Europe died. Yeah, when you got it,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: you die, Yeah, I mean that was it. And you know,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: it lasted for a couple of years and then it
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: went away, but then it came back over the course
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: of fifteen years. Life expectancy was also like seventeen, but
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: it kept coming back, you know, yeah, yeah, over fifteen years.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: And nobody wore their armor. That's why they would wear
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: their armor. That's another great moment from all Right, we're back.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Fred had to duck out. So sorry, guys, you're stuck
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: with deuceman in the in in the host chair. I'm
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: not in the chair. I'm in my own chair still,
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: but a chair I got. Let's I gotta jump you
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: into a quick email because I thought This was pretty
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: good from Colin in Buckley, Washington. On Tuesday, someone wrote
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: in about a hypothetical situation where negative points could be awarded.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: This has me thinking on my commute home, and I've
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: come to the conclusion that negative points should be given
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: on defensive touchdowns. I like that, right, Like, instead of
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: like that you don't get the other team gets them
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: away and then it doesn't mess up your point per
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: game total. No, all right, that's the closest thing I
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: found that makes any sense. Otherwise it's like you're not
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: gonna give it for to be honest with you, don't
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: get it, to be honest with you. I understand what
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: they're saying about points per game and stuff like that,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: but when you actually do the math, teams don't score
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: enough defensive touchdowns for it really to skew the numbers
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: all that much, like you're really talking about on the margins.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Because I've done this in the past, like where I'm
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: like Patriots got twenty one I think right now, So
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: it's like twenty one defensive points over the course of
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: nine games is really not And that's direct, right, that's
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: like that pick six right, like fumble sixes. I count
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: the you know, block punt when you take over on
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: the half yard line, I can't. That's a good point,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: but that doesn't get counted in the actual touch that's
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: because that's definitely like DVOA stuff right down. Yeah, yeah, epa.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: That is a good question though, I mean is that
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: I mean, I know the yardage and you know, achieving success,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: but I mean, do you get docked at all for
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: like you didn't have to drive the ball at all? Like,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: is that factor into it at all? I mean, he's
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: just kind of have a one play or two play,
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: one yard scoring drive. No, not so much. Stats like
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: DVOA for example, they more taken to account down in distance.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: So like two yards on third and ten is not
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: the same as two yards on third and one, right,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Like that's that's more the difference than accounting for short
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: fields or things like that. But yeah, when it comes
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: to defensive touchdowns, you're really talking about like maybe half
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: a point difference for some teams that have a lot
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: of defensive points versus teams that don't. It's really not
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: something that makes a team number one in the league
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: and scoring to number fifteen in the league and scoring.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: It's really within the margins another one from Speed. Don't worry, Evan,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: it's not directed towards you. This a little funny look alike.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Do you think it? Mac looks like Alfredy Newman? No idea?
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Who that is? Our millennial is not not going to
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: weigh in on that one. Mad Magazine. No, probably not
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Zach Wilson, sort of the butt face you'd find garbage
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: peel kid, goverage peel kids. You guys got that one? Nope, nope, no.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: It sounds like vaguely familiar, but I can't. Back in
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: the eighties there were cabbage Patch Kids. I had those
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Cabbage Patch kids, and then they make garbage pale Kid
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: cards which were, like, I mean, they're all kinds of
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: gross things. I don't remember any at the top of
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: my head, but I'm sorry. A little walk down memorily
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: in there. There's another one from Melvin. It's up, y'all,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: it's my Melvine. Patriots need to win this game, and
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: I think they will twenty seventeen. They need to win
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: a game they aren't supposed to. Therefore, I feel like
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: I feel better if they can also beat the Vikings
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: next week. Is more likely the Pats go oh and
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: two or two and oh, right now I'm feeling two
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: and I'm feeling it a little bit. We were talking
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: about Minnesota yet last Yeah, I don't know if this
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: was on air or not. I always get mixed up
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: of what was. Yeah, but I was not overly impressed
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: with the Minnesota offense after watching that tape against Buffalo
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: and talk about defensive touchdowns, they add one, right, So
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: they only scored twenty six points, and three of them
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: came in overtime, so they really only scored twenty three
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: points in regulation. And that offense is Dalvin Cook hitting
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: a home run and on the ground and Justin Jefferson
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: and that's it. They have nobody else outside of that.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: I think that that's the type of offense, especially with
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins at quarterback, who can't really move that Bill
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Belichick is typically feasted on. And they got a good
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: enough defensive Patriots do this year to put together a
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: plan that if this is your only guy in the
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: passing game, we can take him out and make you
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: play left handed, and then Kirk Cousins's Kirk Cousins like,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: I think it's a very very good formula for them.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: One from Russell in Arkansas here on the top tackle
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: topic the last couple of days, any chance they double
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: dip a tackle this sauseason, meaning in free agency and
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: the draft. Also, is there any chance that Andrew Stuba
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: can turn in a as a solid starter. I thought
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: he was graded high coming out of college, but felt
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: he fell because he was injured. Paul, please correct me
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: if I'm wrong. But since it's about the old line,
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: I'm not sure. You don't care. You got the last part, right, Yeah,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: I mean, and I think Win's gone and uh and
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: and Brown has been healthy this year. He could but
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: he's you know a little bit tenuous. But he's got
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: one year left on his deal. He signed that two
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: year deal. Double dipping in free agency in the draft.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: There's not going to be a whole lot of tackles
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: in free agency that are worth anything. Well, they they
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: just signed this guy yesterday, And shoot, I don't have
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: him in front of me. Who was like a former
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: tight end who's had like thirty pounds in the last
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: three months. I think that played in every other league. Yeah,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: there is that, Like that's how that's how desperate you
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: are if you're looking to add like tackle depth. Right, Well,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: I'm not trying to I'm not trying to sit here
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: and say the Patriots offensive line has been good. The
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: last month or so has certainly not been the case.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: But just for reference, PFF right now has them as
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: the sixth best offensive line in football. Seems low for them.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: So the problem is league wide with offensive line play
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: right now. I mean I asked the Rams about offensive
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: line play. They have a Super Bowl roster that can't
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: go anywhere because their offensive line is terrible. So this
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: is a league wide issue. And that's why free agency.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: If you have a good tackle on your team, he
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: doesn't hit free agency, right he's gonna cash in. Yeah,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Isaiah Win might be the best tackle available, honestly, I
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: mean that's the way that it is right now in
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: the league. Is the last really true stud tackle to
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: become available was traded, and that was Trent Williams. Like,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: he's the last one that I can think of at
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: the top of my head. I mean Toronto. I'mstead went
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: from New Orleans to Miami. Yeah that's good. I mean
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: I wouldn't say he's Trent Williams. Yeah, but they had
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: but New Orleans also had massive, massive cap issues. But yeah,
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: that's that's a good one William and Philly. William and
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Philly has been holding on way too long, so got
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: a good one. Sorry William, Hey, how you doing man?
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Thank god? Sorry about that. Fred left your hanging. I
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: came in. Don't worries. You know everything good, you know,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: just listening. Um I got speaking with said for inst
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: said that the receivers are good enough. I think he
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: I think that's a lie. I think that's it has
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: been shown. It just happened. And maybe it was the
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: races where DeVante Parker was going off a little bit
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: and my my little glimpse that when But other than that,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: that's it. And then Uma we're talking about. Yeah. I
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: don't want to see him doing jets. We see it
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: going out. Yeah here, yeah, get the speed. I wouldn't
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: be opposed to seeing him more integrated into the offense,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: give him more opportunities each week. I just don't necessarily
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: want to send him into crowds because I don't think
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: that's something for him long term. I don't think he
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: has the body type to, you know, catch a lot
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: of quick slants and take shots from from like in
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: zone defenses from linebackers. Yeah, I agree with that. I
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: agree jet motion. I disagree with if you don't want
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: him to send him in a jet motion because like,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: oh I don't mind jet motion. Yeah, he's just talking
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: about handing them the ball all the time. I don't
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: know someone wanted to get him more because he has
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: a jet sweet touchdown, like that's the missing link to
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: the offense. I wouldn't necessarily wanted to see him handing
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: the football more. But if you send him in motion
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: and then throw him the football, now that's that's affecting. Yeah,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: that's affecting the defense right now. Maybe maybe that's a
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: little bit too our ahead for the current situation. I
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: don't know every elements. I don't know if we're ready
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: to send receivers in motion and have them catch. But
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I don't know, yes, Willem, Okay, just the last morning
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: that pick um, I think who was I think it
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: was that said, if um, if I was my first
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: round pick, on what receiver, who are our trade for?
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: You had to take? You had to probably add more
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: than just a first round pick. And Paul you already
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: said the firston already justin Jefferson, I'm going all in
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: the go get not happen. Well, that's not happening, like
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: it's got to be a realistic target. Like Jerry Judy.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Kidnap is the guy we brought up earlier in the week.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: He's the only one there was. There was like some
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: talk at the trade deadline that he could be available.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: There's definite frustration on the part of offensive players in
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Denver because Russell Wilson's been a train wreck. I think
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: that you could make an argument that you visit that
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: in the offseason, you might be able to get Jerry Judy,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: who's three years in league, so you get some experience.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: First round pick, you know, yeah, you know, I don't
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: know what kind of connection he has with Mac Jones
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: that might help a little. You know, I don't know
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: how much they actually played together. I know obviously they
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: know each other. Yeah, um, I wouldn't be opposed to
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: to something like that, but like, yeah, justin Jefferson would
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: be better. But I don't don't I don't see that
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: being even like more than point one percent. Pause him
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: up on Thanksgiving and just you know, throw him in
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: the plane, drag him back. I would love to give
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Belichick some some true serum on that. Twenty twenty, right, Yeah,
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: twenty twenty draft because Jefferson went to pick before their's,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: and then as soon as the Vikings picked Jefferson, they
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: traded out of the pick. And I would just love
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: to know. Maybe next week somebody will try to ask
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: him just because it's relevant to that week. But I
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: knew you usually get those questions, Oh, did you do
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: any homework on this guy in the draft or whatever?
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: And I don't, and he'll tell us that deep. But
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: do you want me to ask on that Friday? Would
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: you bang the table? It just feels when Minnesota pick
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson the pick before you, it just felt like
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: how automatic it was that once Jefferson was off the
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: board at twenty two I think it was or twenty
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: or whatever, that they automatically just traded the pick. I
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: just feel like that has to say something about their
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: plans in that first round. I think Jefferson was their guy.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: I think there's another one the year after, and that's
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: Jalen Waddle. I think that they really liked guys they
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: want the good receivers from. Can't get from my intel. Okay,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: I don't know about Justin Jefferson. I'm not letting them
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: off the hook for Justin Jefferson, because it's called trading
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: up in the first round, Like you could have leap
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: frog Minnesota to take them if you want him that
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: badly bottles off the board, right, You're not going to
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: trade that far up, But if Justin Jefferson was your guy,
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: you should trade it up. See, I agree with Evan,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: like a lot of people, this is the same thing
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: that we have with Justin Fields. You know, when people
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: attacked us for saying like, well, no, you guys don't
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: remember he was gone, Like yes, I know, Chicago went
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: from like nineteen or twenty up to eleven to make
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: a move to get a guy that they wanted. You
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: were at fifteen. You wouldn't have had a pay what
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: Chicago paid to go where the giants are, and you
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: could have gotten him if you wanted to. Just like,
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: if you really wanted Justin Jefferson, if that was the
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: apple of your eye and he's available two peaks before
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: you got to figure out a way to move up.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: I'm just finding it so hard right now to really
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: believe in what they like, what they need at receiver
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: because they can't even get guys who are okay pros
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: at least more than like ten catches, you know, So
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: it's like, I just I right now I'm kind of
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: lost in the wilderness in terms of the offensive weaponry
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: and where they go after this year. And you know,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: like I think Paul kind of alluded to, like do
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: you just kind of let everybody walk and redo it?
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: But I just I don't know what the answer is
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: because they can't throw the ball to the wide receivers
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: right now anyway. So it's like, is that all gonna
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: be great? We got Jerry Judy now to run down
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: the field and knocket the ball. And speaking of the
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: pe stuff, I saw earlier in the week that Myers
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: was listed as like one of the top ten potential
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: free agents available. Yeah, so if that's true, it's gonna
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: be hard to envision him resigning here. Yeah, if he
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: has that kind of marketability. I just have a tough
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: time with Jerry Judy in particular because I'm not sure
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: that he moves the needle enough for you, like, how
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: much better is Jerry Judy than Jacoby Myers? I don't,
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: especially with Jakobe's institutional knowledge in the system, I'm just
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: not really sure that that's this stark improvement when you
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: look at how teams have done it in the past
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: with their quarterback going into their third season. It's Tyree Hill,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: it's a j Brown, it's Digs obviously in buffle like
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: that's not Jerry Judy. Like Jerry Judy is not on
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: the level of those three players. So if you're gonna
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: do it, if you're gonna do it, you gotta go
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: out and you gotta get you know, one of the
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: guys in the league, you know, DeAndre Hopkins when he
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: gets traded to Arizona. It's not it's not Jerry Judy.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: A guy. Yeah, he's a guy. He's just a guy though,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: you know. And DK Metcalf was a guy getting a
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: lot of buzz about it guy last year. But now
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: Seattle's in it, Seattle's signed him. Yeah, who you know that.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: You know, they had the good year, their quarterback has
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: played well, and they re upped them. So do you
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: ever think at all about it if that's how the
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Patriots twenty twenty season at gone, where you just have
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: this kind of retread backup guy that you never really
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: had any expectations for and then he just comes in
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: like Brian Hoyer didn't. I think I never once thought
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: of that as we were joking in the break, Felger
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: was completely convinced that they would go ten and six
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: minimum and win the division with Brian Hoyer. And he
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: likes to say it wasn't a Brian Hoyer take, it
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: was a Bill Belichick take. You know, he thought that
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: much of Belichick, right. I will say after the Seattle
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: game in twenty twenty and when Camp had like four
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: hundred yards of total offense, I was such plastic yards.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I thought for a second, like, okay, like almost like two,
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: this is gonna be good for this year. I'm not
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: saying that this is the answer for the next ten years,
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: but maybe this year he could be good. And then
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: it obviously went where. What did you think about Cam
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: that year, Evan, I mean, we haven't. I mean, I
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: know it's it's it was a terrible year and he
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: was terrible, But just what was your you know, what
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: was your overall journey when they signed him? What were
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: your hopes like going into I had zero expectations, zero hopes.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: I enjoyed the Cam Newton year because of one thing
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: and one thing only, And I thought that, yeah, basically,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: like I enjoyed the fact that they did what they
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: could to build the system around him with the quarterback runs,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: and that was something that they had never done before,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: so obvious, you know, and obviously for obvious reasons, so
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: that when they were able to do stuff like that,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: it was fun to break down and to look at.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: I mean, I remember that opening game against Miami when
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: he ran the ball like fifteen times and they're running
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: QB power and like all this other kind of stuff
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: with it, and I'm like, oh, wow, this is I
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: don't know how good this is going to be, but
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: at least it's something different, right, And if it's not
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: going to be Brady, at least that we get something
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: completely different out of it, that's good. That kind of
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: feeds into this email here from Adam from Dublin, which
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: I think is a good one because I mean he
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: just jumps right into it. Who is who is the
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: simplified offense shooting? You know? And I think it's a
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: great question because that was what they told us right
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: in the offseason, that we're trying to simplify things. And
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: I think it made sense to us in terms of, all, right,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: you know, we we have were that you know, post
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: nap adjustments. Josh McDaniels. It's all very complicated. It takes
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: a while to figure out and know where you need
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: it to be. That the simplification makes sense. It doesn't
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: seem simplified for anybody right now. Right it seems almost
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: more complicated and difficult for everybody to kind of break down.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: I don't know you guys thoughts on that one. It's
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: not sound, so it can't be simplified. You can't have
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: the benefits of having a easier offense to understand when
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: the system, the scheme doesn't work, So that that's I
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: think the problem is that maybe it is simplified, maybe
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: it is easier to understand or did to didest the playbook,
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: But if the schemes don't actually work against NFL defenses,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: and I don't care how they call it in the
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: huddle or what, you know, what it's drawn up on
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: the white board and if there's option routes or not
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: option routes or whatever, because it doesn't it's not working.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: And I also think you can't discount the fact that
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: a good chunk of those people running the offense, we're
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: running a different offense the year before. Now this is
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: operating out of the premise that there is a different
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: like it's the different offense. Okay, Mac called it a
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: different offense yesterday, right, So like Mac Jones comes in
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: as a rookie, learns a whole system, and now you
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: can't just say, well, this is easier without taking into consideration.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: He has all that knowledge from the other offense in
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: his head and now he's thinking, oh, when we run that,
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: this is what we do. Oh wait a minute, that
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: was the old offense. Now we got to do it
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: in this offense. And you know, maybe the old offense
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: required you know, and this is like that dan Orlowski
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: thing that you were tweeting about ev with um you know,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: like it's three steps, Well was it three quick steps?
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: Is it three? You know, maybe Josh wanted three steps
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: one way. Maybe this calls for three steps another way.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: That might be easier, Like if you just matched it
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: up this and this, this might be easier. But when
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: you're dealing with Jacobe Myers and Nelson Aghalore and Kendrick
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: Bourne and Mac Jones and the offensive linemen that we're
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: all here last year, and maybe it ain't easier for
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: them because they're operating under a base of the entire
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: other system, and it's like, you know, the whole Dan
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: Dukette thing. You know, we'll just take this guy out
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: and we're replace him because his on base percentages. It
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: doesn't work like that. It's not they're they're not spreadsheets
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: like they actually have to play their human beings and
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: what they already have in their head counts. I'm a
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: human being like that. I like that. I like that,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Like Adrian, I'm rock, You're human, aren't you just understood?
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: I'm afraid the first time, uh, sorry for all I
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: got ours to laugh for the first time of the show.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: She's not looking at her TV, just having her computer
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: see a refreshed there's the whole sorce of rumors going
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: the whole show that are not ruined picks. That's all
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: I have. I'm starting to get worried about her a
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: little bit over here. Oh I've long past that. You
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: should have heard a declaration the first five minutes of
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: the show. We did a little minute in the intro. No,
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: what it's gonna lead to is this gonna be the
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: weekend of that show. Alex is gonna be like Thursday.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: She's like, all right, everybody, I'm going home. And then
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: like there's gonna be like a back closet, and she's
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: just like or she's gonna like burrow behind that couch
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: and she's just gonna do like one of those things
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: that kids doing, like Walmart, where they like spend the
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: night in Walmart and they hide it and then like
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: you know, the concert starts going the next night, and
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: all of a sudden, she's got her ID badge and
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: she's like, it's gonna be ye me, the whole cr team,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: most of the content team, that's gonna be us sleeping.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: Evan's acting like he wasn't talking about it this morning.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Switch Songs like left him right because I was getting
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: text as from people asking me to buy tickets for
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: them for this. Acquaintances are coming out of the woodwork,
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: right and I'm in the mid twenties right now. For request. Gosh,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: I just haven't spoken imagine being a millennial or whatever. No,
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: I can't imagine that. It must be like the Super Bowl.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: I mean, you must have gotten this kind of stuff
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: back in the day with Patriot games. I would imagine
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: sometimes worse than people asking me for paths tickets. This
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: is way worse, worse. Um, yeah, this is way worse
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: like the Super Bowls. Every once in a while someone
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: will ask me if I have access as i'll pay
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: for Oh yeah, no one. No one's ever asked me
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: to give them anything, even for this. No one's asking
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: me to give them Oh no, no, they want me
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: to buy them and then they're going to pay me back.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: I'll pay if that's not gonna gonna be the way
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: it goes down if I if I do get tickets,
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: they will be paying for them upfront. People are trying
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: to give me profit together. There's the sweet It's right.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: I thought about that too, little something for the effort,
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: you know. But the Super Bowl, like the playoff games,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: sometimes people like you know, they're looking at to buy
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: tickets for that, but not nothing like this. This has
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: been literally I just want Every other day someone else
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: is texting me, Hey, I hope everything's going well. Hey,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: any chance I can get eighteen for Taylor? Yeah? I
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: thought you hate having to write those emails in your life.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: I don't think I've written a lot, but like the
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: ones you're like, I gotta ask somebody, you know, butter
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: them up a little bit. Uh. I don't evan this
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: quick one form Mitch from albany um hich he just wrote.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: And I was wondering if Evan could explain DVOA, EPA
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: and element. But um, but Evan actually wrote a whole piece,
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: so I just want to direct you. We don't need
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: to let him do the rest of the show breaking
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: down dude. But uh, but but I think fred Fred
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: came up with the idea. I think to kind of
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: do a beginner's guide to it. So it's on the site. Um,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: I think we should probably link to it whenever you're
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: doing a film breakdown and stuff. But um, yeah, those
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: are those are definitely things that are becoming more or
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: a common especially DVOA, which I think we talk about
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: a lot um that is not really a prediction, it's
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: it's you know, how efficient have they been? And you
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: know he adjust things for situation. But but dive into
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Evan's piece. It'll give you. It'll give you plenty of
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: insight into that. Got another one. I'm gonna try this
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: name Hilgin hi l g y n Hilgin. He said,
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: you'll probably butcher it, but no worries. I guys a
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: long time listener, first time emailing in. I got married
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: this past weekend congratulations many Me and my wife are
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: thinking ahead and to the Cincinnati game is part of
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: our honeymoon. Anyway. I just want to ask you guys,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: if we see no improvement in the offense against the Jets,
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: will we ever see it this season? Maybe don't come
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: to the Cincinnati just kidding, will we ever see it?
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: I don't think you can completely close the door if
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: it doesn't flip overnight in this game. I think it's
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: a good defense and it's not only a good defense
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: personal wise, but it's one that's familiar with you as
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: a division opponent. Always tough, and I feel like these
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: games are always a little weird too, Like even when
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: the Patriots were at the height of their powers, there
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: were random games against the Jets that you were like, WHOA,
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: that was way tougher than I thought it was going
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: to be. I would say, like, you know, Minnesota, Arizona, Vegas,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: if you don't see some signs of life offense, three teams,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: none of which has a great defense, and none of which,
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: maybe with the exception of the Raiders, because of that
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: institutional knowledge for Josh, that they're not familiar with you
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: in your personnel, you don't see them all the time.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: You should be a little bit better against those teams
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: then I would I would think that you'd be against
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: the Jets. Yeah, if the Bills and Josh Allen can't
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: score on this Jets defense, then if the Patriots have
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: a rough offensive day on Sunday, then I think you
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: chock it up too. Not the week to break out
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: of a slump against the really, really good defense. I'm
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: still gonna overreactum quick game. I think this might be
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: Paul Paul. I don't know if you guys are in
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: on this one, but but quick game? Who am I
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: from Jack down the Road? And Stolton got three clues?
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: I don't think I wouldn't have gotten this first one.
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: We'll just see if Paul gets it. I played for
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: both the Browns and the Patriots during my career as
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: a defensive back. Jason mccordy, Antonio Langham hits the name
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: you've never heard of. I had a career high of
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: seven interceptions with the Patriots. Jason mccorty. I made a
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: huge play in supernn uh last one. I now coach
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: over at Howard, but before that coached at Norfolk State,
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: where I also went to college. Not Jason mccorty. Somebody
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: called Ron Bolton, Oh, Ron Bolton, I remember him. I
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: went to Antnio Langham. This depensive back to both the
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: Patriots and the Browns. This one's a little bit This
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: one's a little bit easier. I still think this might
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: be Paul only Um, but we're getting a little bit
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: more in the in the area. I was drafted in
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: the first round from the University of Georgia. Josiah Robert Edwards,
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: Ben Watson, Robert Edwards, anymore wine? All right, last one.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: I think everybody should be on board for this one.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: This is a pretty famous Patriot of the last twenty years.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: I made my name, made a name for myself being
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: a reliable target for Tom Brady during the dynasty years.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: You only get one guess, No, you're out there. I
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: didn't know. I only got one guest though, that we'll
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: let you. Are you back in? But the answer is not.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: Taylor Swift. I had a career low of one hundred
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: and forty five yards with the Patriots in two thousand
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: and twelve, but still had a great career overall. Dion
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Branch it is there, it is. Did he fall off
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: a cliff? In twenty twelve, like because he was pretty good.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: I thought when he got back and I thought, didn't
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: he only play for like a couple of games at
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: the I thought that that was like a mid season
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: plus that's like the year twelve or so, right eleven? Anyway,
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: wasn't the two draft? Yeah? Yeah, someone in there, Uh
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: quick one for a lucky lou ahead. Hey there A
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: guy just said, guy, Hey there, guy, hey guy. Uh
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: it's from that King saysar Uh. Patriots have sixty mill
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: and cap next year with the sixty mill, what do
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: we do they don't have sixty mill? Where do we
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: got that numbers? An accurate? It's less, it's like forty something. Yeah,
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: it's way less. We fixed the defense part of the
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: old line go offense in the first round. What are
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: we fixing it on the defense? Number one defense in
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: the league. He's sounded like Bill right there, that's don't
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: already fixed some of the defense number one defense in
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: the league. I don't know what do you want to fix?
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Do you really think that? Before I argue with you, Uh,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: do I really think that? I don't want to say yes,
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: because we've we've seen this movie before, right where we
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: don't have to argue about it. Then they are the
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: better quarterbacks come in and light this defense up. But
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: I do think they're better equipped this year to handle
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: in the secondary, especially than they have been in years
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: past because of the safety group. But I still I
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: still need to see it to believe it. Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: We don't have to argue that. No, I need to
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: see it against these good teams. But I think they
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: have a chance to prove something to all of us,
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: you know. I mean there's a tough schedule, there's your
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: good teams that you know. UM. As for the offseason,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: I don't know. Well, we'll have to get there first.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: UM A couple more here emails before we get the picks.
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: I think last week we did pretty good. Right. We
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: didn't start picks to like one one, forty or spies
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: and stuff. We were writing, UM one from Stratford quick thought.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: Should the Pats have tried signing Amari Rodgers when he
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: got released by the Packers. Do you think Orlando Brown
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: from Kansas City is worth signing next year? A couple
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: free agent ideas. Orlando Brown might be a guy I
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: think family that Bill has some familiarity with UM Trent
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Mari Rodgers. Yeah, No, loved him coming out. Has not
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: worked out any four fumbles on part returns. Yeah, he's
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: been terrible on returns, like Cyrus Jones. Receiver, just doesn't
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: have the burst as a receiver that he had in college.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: Just completely fell off. Yeah this one. Um what else?
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: So a little bit about Buffalo too, boofalo boofalo. Um. Yeah,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: it's there's no question here, Tony can't just email in
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: with it. I'm not as good as Fred. I'm not
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: as good as Fred as this aren't And I never
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: thought I'd say that about anybody. It's hard to read
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: and talk at the same time out loud. Here's one
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: I got from Pedro. I was wondering what all your
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: thoughts were on the response Bill gave to the question
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: of how beneficial was the bye week for your team
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: in terms of healing up and resting for the second
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: half of the season. BB replied, it's always good to
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: get a break. I know Bill is usually reserved in
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: his answers, but do you think there was any competitive
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: advantage to not answering this specific question. Sometimes I think
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: Bill chooses to be difficult than the press because I
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: don't see a reason as to why this question can't
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: get a normal answer that is a normal answer, Like
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: I'm turning into such a curmudgeon with these emails and callers.
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie. It's just can we let's step
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: it up a little bit? All right? Like what are
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: we asking about? Wow? Now he's chastising. I'm sorry. I
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: love you all, but it's like, can we please? It
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: sounds like he don't love It doesn't seem like you
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: love them. It's not personal. It's just that we're trying
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: to have a good show here. We're trying to get
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: emails and calls to tee us up on things, and
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: we're asking questions about the vast majority of coaches in
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: that league as if um he snickered. That sounds like
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: they all use coach speak, like in general, they are
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: football cliches and like, no, it's always you know, is
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: it good to get David Andrews back out there? It's
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: good to get all our good players back out there.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: What do you want it to like? You're gonna go us,
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: You're gonna go with you? Yeah? I mean our line
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: calls without him were terrible. What is he going to say?
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: There's a lot of like just football coach one on
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: one talk like that is inherent with the job. And
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: most guys answer questions. Now, I will agree that some
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: of them do it in a more entertaining way than
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: Build does. And some of them make you think that
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: he's telling you something, but they're really not telling you
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: anything more. They're just doing it in a more good
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: natured way. Do you want them to? I'll be Mike
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: McDaniel right, during the during the during the by they
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: got a chance to get some rest. It's always good
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: to get some rest, of course, like whenever the by comes,
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: it's a good time, you know. Like cliche one O one,
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: that's what they do. The questions that cliche in and
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: of itself, it's kind of just like a puff. It's
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: like that question. Now, like the question to your is, oh,
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: you have three games in twelve days. How are you
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: going to handle it? It's like this is the Patriots.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: They're gonna say they're taking it one game at a time.
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: They're not gonna go into talk about we gotta we
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: gotta get our bodies right, we gotta get our minds.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: Like no, they're gonna say, we're focused on the Jets,
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: which is exactly the response that that question has gotten
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: from every single player and coach. Every year they play
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: a Thursday night game, so they have a short week, right,
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: We always ask about the short week every every year,
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: and that's all this is. It's a it's a short week.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: There's a good one from from Jake from Australia. Good
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: day mate. Me and Evon we're talking about this a
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: little bit. Why the hell are we paying Jake Bailey
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: so much to be a subpar punter? Is he yelling
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: as yeah, you guys actually spend time talking about this.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: I don't know. Somehow Evan just came out of the blue.
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: I don't know how it came up with. He's like,
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: that's a terrible contract. It's a horrible contract. His money
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: is fully guaranteed next year as well. See. I say
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: things like this all the time, and this is some
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: of the stuff that Fred really gets mad at me
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: when I make fun of the cap and stuff. It's like,
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: instead of spending you know, fifteen million on a true
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: difference making skill position guy, you know, will have the
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: highest paid punter in the league, which me is completely
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: and utterly meaningless. And that's fine because if it doesn't
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: work out. It's only like whatever, three million million, It's
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: like peanuts and the grand scheme of things. But I
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: look at it, it's like everybody else's punter is making
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: nothing right. And even if you a punter is the best,
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: which he's which he has been far from the last
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: two years, it's meaningless, Like it doesn't it's it's not
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: really for that one game that wow, you know, Jake
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: Bailey pinned three of them inside the five and that
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: was the difference in the game. Like when does that happen?
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: You know, every time he talks about the other team's
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: puncher being a weapon, it never materializes. Johnny Hecker and
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: the like, who was the guy this year? The guy
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: from the Lions. Bad teams have good punters. That's that's
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: number one. But that's what it says psychologically, like we
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: need to invest in this player because we can't. But
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: just who cares? The Bills still haven't You still haven't
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: made the Bills punt in two games. So I don't
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: even know who the Bills punter is. Well now I
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: really don't know who it is after what happened with
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: the Bills punter, But I just I think about it
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: for a minute. You'll you'll come you'll come back to you.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: But who do they? I don't know who the Bills
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: punter is not, well it's a new punter now after
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: what happened to the Bills punter anyways, Uh, Jake Bailey
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: thing is really is fascinating because they gave him that
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: contract coming off a bad year and now he's still
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: having a bad year. And I asked Matthew Slater about
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: it on Monday, and he was honest about it. He
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: was like, yeah, we haven't been good, and he tried
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: to take some of the blame off of Jake Bailey
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: and say, well, we got to cover the kicks better
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: and we you know, net averages, and that's everybody, that's
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: not just Jake and all this kind of stuff. But
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: the problem is is that Jake Bailey wasn't a good
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: punter last year and they signed him to this extension.
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: He's still not a good punter and now he's on
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: the books for three million dollars next year guaranteed. And
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: some people that are way more knowledgeable about punters than
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: I am think the guy on the practice squad is
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: better than he is. Polarity. So I just don't know.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: I don't know where what they were thinking about giving
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: a guy that already had the yips and you that contract.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: Can you call out the people that think that they
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: know more about punting than you do? I like to
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: who would deal? No, I don't know who times punters.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: But I'm telling you there's this kid at Westfield State
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: that he's absolutely lights out. The guy that I was
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: telling you about the Bills punter that I won't name,
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: the guy that you're talking about, the kid they drafted
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: and they have because Barth was a huge fan, huge,
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: so ridiculous. It's such a waste of a draft. And
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: I'm not telling you it's a waste of a draft
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: pick because he was involved in a rape. He's a
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: waste of a draft pick because you don't ever want
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: him on the field, especially for a team like Buffalo.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: It's like, how often are you really getna punt? Like?
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: I mean, do you want to talk about what's his
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: face from two years ago that they drafted to like that?
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: Like that was last year? What's his face? No, I'm
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: talking about the Patriots. What's his face? The tattoos? Yeah,
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: Like you could make an argument to me, like if
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: you had Justin Tucker. Okay, I'm gonna make him the
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: highest paid kicker. He's that good. I would draft he
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: never in the first round. He never misses. Yeah, like
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: heinly not an important one. There's comfort in that. That's
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: putting points on the like the punter. The other thing
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: about Justin Tucker that's different too, though, is that he
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: can make it from sixty right, So like now you're
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: in field goal range as soon as you cross over
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: the fifty yard line. Weapon. It really is, um, all right,
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: quick game before we do our things. I like this
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: a little Thanksgiving dinner award game via Tyler from Natick. So,
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: um this the example is you're gonna have a Thanksgiving
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: dish and then you're going to name a Patriots player
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: that corresponds with the dish. So his example, he does
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: a good job explaining things. Grandma's green beeing castrole. Grandma
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: took the year off from cooking after this being a
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: dependable dish every year and you never realized how important
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: it was until it was gone. And a player that
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: might receive that award a Shack Mason. All right, So
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: that's kind of setting it up, so don't worry. It
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: gets easier. So Mom's mashed Potatoes Award as dependable as
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: it gets. They rarely let you down, but are not
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: the main course that everyone will be raving about. Devin mccordy,
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: good one. David Andrews, Yeah, I was gonna sa be Myers.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: Yeah they are you good ones like those burnt inner rolls.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: You were disappointed, but you just have to throw them
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: away and move on. Kiel he's not even on the
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: team anymore. I would go with all except Kobe Myers.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna stay away from that one. Uh. Baked back
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: and cheese. This dish is new to the table, but
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: as a welcome addition that you hope to see annually
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: for years to come. Mare know you're gonna see Marcus Jones.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: I'd see Marcus Jones anybody. Um, it's a new addition
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: that you're excited about. That's not is it? Parker? There
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: isn't last One's that chat room going. Cousin Burt number
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: in the QI you are now four? Uh Cousin Burt's
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: Brussels sprouts. I likes. Cousin Burt must have taken a
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: cooking class, because last year this dish was just met.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: But this year it has greatly improved. Everybody taking a
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: big step. Get on the Brussels spouts, finally smoked turkey
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: shows to showstopper MVP of the meal Matthew Judon, Yeah,
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: I guess j Yeah. What were the ones we did?
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: Those are all of them. It was just it was
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: just to kind of give your give your opinion. That
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: wasn't a right answer, all right, And with that, It's
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: week eleven in the NFL. Paul, what happened last week?
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: It's a bad week for everybody, Um, but Mike and
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: Fred were a little bit better than most at seven
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: and seven. Evan and Paul were six and eight. Alex
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: was five and nine. Yeah, I knew I had a
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: bad week. Started off rough. Yeah, it was bad for
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: everybody with the spread. Some found a way to fight through.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: Some me. I was nine and five, Evan was eight
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: and six that Mike was eight and six, Fred was
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: six and eight, and Alex was five and nine. My
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: worst week yet, So got things in your mind overall.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: Paul ninety fifty nine and one, Mike one game back,
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: eighty nine sixty and one, Fred eighty one, sixty eight
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: and one. Evan has the best record percentage wise sixty
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: three and thirty nine percentage and Alex is fifty three
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: and thirty eight. So Evan is six eighteen winning percentage
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: and I am six zo three, so Evan still has
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: the lead with the spread. This is just a blow up.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: Eighty nine fifty eight and three I am, which is
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: only a half a game difference, same winning percentage from
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: my overall eighty nine fifty three. That's rock solid. Mike
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: seventy five, seventy two and three. Nothing, I'm gonna hang
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: your head out. You're making money. You're making a case.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: He's making an argument. Take it, Sam, he's making an
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: argument there he is. Fred sixty one eighty six and three. Wow,
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: just lost this feel Evan fifty forty nine and one,
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: So slightly you're making you got your head up, Alex
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: forty two, forty eight and one. That's not terrible, It's
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: better than right. Oh yeah, come on, you are four
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: sixty seven. Fred's four seventeen. I don't finish the race last.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: That is the goal, and that was what happened to
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: me last year. All right, we start things off with
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: a match up here between the Tight Tens and the
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: green Bay Packers. Green Bay coming off a win. I'm
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: sure what a Tennessee do. Last week, Tennessee won the
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: Denverse seventeen to ten. Uh Tennessee. I'm sorry. Green Bay
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: is favored by three, and I have Fred's picks here. Um,
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: so I will inject his witticisms when appropriate. Mike. Yeah,
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: then I'm gonna start things off. I'm gonna you know,
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with with green Bay. I don't know.
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: I'm not sure why home game. Um. I do like
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: ten to see, you know, I think they are a
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: good team, and I'm not sure what's going on green
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: Bay if that win last week against Das was legit.
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: But I'm gonna take green Bay at home. I'm taking
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: green Bay, taking them to cover in this game, and
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: I'm taking Aaron Rodgers to be the Patriots quarterback in
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. You and me are going to speak
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: that into existence. I think, why twenty twenty four not
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: next year. I just don't know if they're ready to
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: give up on Mac quite yet. But I watched that
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: Dallas game last week and I'm like, man, this would
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: be great. How can we make this happen? I'm not
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: really good, Alex. I took a lot of dogs this
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: week against the Spreads, so this could get ugly. But
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: I'm taking green Bay to win. Tennessee. Yeah, I like
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: Tennessee as a team better than green Bay, but I
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: don't like that Thursday night thing. I take the home
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: team in general terms, so I will take green Bay.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: Fred likes green Bay to cover as well. So all right,
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: starting over at Sunday one pm, we have the Chicago
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: Bear against the Atlanta Falcons. Chicago coming off the lost
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: three one thirty to Detroit. Atlanta lost to Carolina, um
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: Falcons buy three and a half. Yeah, I mean I
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: want to get on that the Chicago hype train. You know.
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: I think they're having a little bit of growing pains here. Um.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: I don't know if I can pick them just yet,
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: but yeah, you know what I'm going to I'm gonna
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: go with Chicago on the road. Justin Fields, see how
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: it looks. I'm gonna go Chicago. Also, I just think
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: Justin Fields is reached to a new level. I think
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: the Patriots can he can take the Patriots for it.
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: As always credit check what else would you just checkers destroy?
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: I'll go at the Bears. Upset. I'm going to Atlanta
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: both ways. Oh I hate this game, Fred does two.
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: I will take Atlanta to win. I will take the
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: hook and take Chicago. Uh, Fred say as Bears win,
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: advising the squares to lay off this one squares? What
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: are the squares? Squires? In other words, the opposite of
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: sharps is that like a sixties turb like, oh I
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: got you, You're a square? It's Fred? What do you
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: want me to tell you? All? Right? Next up Cleveland
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: at Buffalo and what is u? We don't know where
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: the game's gonna be played, if it's gonna be played,
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: but right now it's it looks like it's still on
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: Cleveland by seven, I mean sorry, Buffalo by seven and
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: a half. Seven and a half seems like that's dropped
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: a little bit. Maybe Uh yeah, I'm gonna take Buffalo
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: to win, but I'm gonna take those points because it
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: feels like if they do play this game and whether
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: it's gonna be low scoring and probably tight, So I'll
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: take all seven and a half of those points or Cleveland,
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Bills both ways. This game could
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: be in Buffalo, could be in Qatar, could be in Detroit,
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: and they're gonna blow out the Browns. I'm going with
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: Mike's strategy there split them. Yeah, smart sound. I will
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: take the Bills both ways. I'm with Evan fred says,
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: Bills cover by points here if you can. I love
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: that he's like canning out advice. He gets to like
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: like he's the sharp given up when he was in Germany.
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: He must have been disappointed that we didn't add context
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: to his pen. He did well, That's probably why he
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: added in it. Next step, we got the Philadelphia eggles
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: against the Indianapolis Colts one PM Sunday, Philly by seven seven.
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: What does Jeff Saturday have in his bag of tricks?
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: This week? Matt Ryan was back, Jonathan Taylor ran crazy again. Um,
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: I like Philadelphia to win, but I'm gonna take those
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna take those points. I think I think it's
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: going to be a close affair. I think Philly bounces back.
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: I think they win this game. I think that they
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: win big because I think the Colts it's like that
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: one game thing right where the head and new head
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: to coach, everybody gets riled up forward and now the
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: realness of Jeff Saturday being your head coach comes out
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: and you play good team. I'm I'm giving Indie the
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: points here, so you'll take Philly to win, take the points.
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: I am doing the same, I will take the points.
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: I agree with Evan. I think you get that one
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: game bump. We can do it. But seven's a big
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: spread on the road, and I would be tempted to
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: pick an upset, but not coming off the loss that
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: that got their attention. And yeah, so Philadelphia to win,
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: Indie to cover. Fred says, let me see if I
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: can find that game. Eagles cover middle this game if
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: the spread moves middle. So he likes the Eagles, all right.
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: Next up we will skip over the Jets and Patriots.
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: We'll come back to that one. Don't worry, we'll flutter
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: our paper as is our tradition. Gotta hurry La Rams
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: at the New Orleans Saints Sunday, one o'clock. Saints by
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: three and a half. As far as I know, Stafford's
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: still in concussion protocol. I think he's out. Actually, oh yeah,
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: I think yesterday he's out in full participant. Looks like
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: he is he is going to play. Seems like Andy
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: Dalton I believe still going for the Saints. Um, yes,
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: I don't know. The Rams have been terrible, but I'm
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: gonna maybe Stafford comes to back and they find something.
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Rams to win on the road.
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: The Rams offense, the numbers on the Rams offense are deplorable,
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: like they are. We think it's bad here. Their first
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: and second down offense is by far the worst in
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: the league right now, which is Sean mcphah's bread and butter,
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: like that's where he makes his money. But I still
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: like the Rams in this game. I just I can't
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: pick the Saints. I had nothing good about the Saints
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: right now that I can pick Rams upset. Yeah, I
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: want to take the Rams too. I was prepared to
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: take the Saints because I didn't think Stafford was playing.
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: But I think I think I'll go with the lar
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: Let's see what's fred like, Oh, Saints win but don't cover,
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: So New Orleans to win, Lar to cover all right?
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: Next up Sunday, one o'clock Detroit Lions at the New
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: York You have the games in order to that. I
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: like that. Giants buy three three. Oh, that's a tough one. Um,
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: Now you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna stay on
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: the train. Giants back at home. I'm gonna take Brian Dayble,
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: Daniel Jones, Sequon Barkley, and I think they get a
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: win over a rough Detroit team who who does seem
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: like they're not totally terrible. But I just think the
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: Giants will pull it out. I haven't been convinced about
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: the Giants all here long, but I can't pick them
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: to lose to the Lions. So I'll take the Giants,
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: and I think that they'll win by more than three,
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: seven and two. Well, I took them to lose against
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: the Giants, all right. Hold on, Mike, who did you take?
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: I took the Giants, Giants and Alex you have Detroit
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: and Evan has the Giants. Yes, yeah, I am gonna
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: take the Giants as well. Um yeah, I just I
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: can't pick the I can't pick the Lions, even though
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: they've won two in a row. I can't do it.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: Um Fred does not pick this game, so I'm going
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: to give him the Giants, all right. Next up Sunday
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: at one, the Carolina Panthers at three and seven at
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: the Baltimore Ravens six and three, Ravens by thirteen thirteen points. Now,
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: Panthers did win last week over Atlanta on Thursday Night
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: Football fifteen. Um, but I don't think that's gonna help
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: them this week. I'm gonna take Boltimore and lay those points.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: I think, is this Sam Darnald is that game? I don't.
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: I think p J. Walker's hurt is that Sam Donald's music? Well,
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: I thought Mayfield played a little bit. I heard I
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: saw on Twitter that they they want Sam Darnald to
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: be involved. I have no idea what that means. We
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: gotta have a package involving Sam Donald, right, because he's
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson. Right. So this is definitely Baltimore winning at
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: thirteen is a big, big number in an NFL game though,
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: So I'll take the Panthers to cover that spread. But
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: Baltimore is definitely gonna win the game. I gave it
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: all to Baltimore. He gave it all. There you go. Uh.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: I am gonna go with Baltimore, and I'll take the
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: points as well. I think thirteen is a lot now.
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: I have no doubt that the Ravens will have that
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: double digit lead, because they have it in every game
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: they play. But I'll take the points. Let's see. Fred
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: says Ravens win but don't cover fast laning. This one
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: don't even know what that means. Fast lane isoleting Carolina
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: fast laning. It's like a stream of consciousness thing where
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: he's rattling the picks off by himself. And you know
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: the thing is, it's like his emails that you know
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: he didn't have any appointment or anything. He's like upstairs
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: like listening. He's and he's like stickering to himself. Oh,
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: I'm getting him good. Sunday at one o'clock, Washington commanders
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: at five and five travel to Houston to take the
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: one seven one Houston, Texas Washington by three, and it
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: will be Heineck right, Yes, Heineck chains coming off the
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: big upstay two twenty one over Philly. I think they
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: keep the train rolling. Why would you not take the
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: commanders lay the points. So we were talking earlier about
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: Jerry Judy and receivers that I would go after how
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: many first round picks you give up for Terry McLaurin,
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: because I out you don't listen to me. Yeah, I
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: am taking the commanders here as well, and um I'll
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: take them to cover too. I think the Texans are terrible.
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: I've had pretty good luck betting or not that I'm
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: actually betting, but going with the Commanders, and I'm switching
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: it up this week. Houston both ways, who upset? I
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: was trying to make your move. Well like earlier in
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: the season, I was the only one that picked the Commanders,
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: and I was like, yeah, you know, fire like then
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: you found out about Dan Snyder and the Dan Snyder
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: That's why I picked them to win. I was like,
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: they're going to rally around this Dan Snyder news, and
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: I was right, do you think a team ever rallies
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: around their owners drama? Certainly not his? Um I took.
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: I took Washington, all so and Fred says, Commander's cover.
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: So we're both on Washington. Uh, what do we got?
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: Vegas and Denver? Next up? Vegas, US Vegas two and
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: seven Josh material So though it does sound like the
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: he will be back next year. According to reports, are
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: at the three and six. Of course they're at Denver,
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: Denver by three, of course at home forgot that's smile.
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: I screwed that up to Denver by three. I keep
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: picking the Raiders, and obviously I keep losing, but I'm
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: gonna do it again. I'm gonna do it in Denver.
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: Josh former coach there. Maybe his team plays art for
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: him in Denver. I don't know, but I'll take I'll
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: take Denver on the upset. So I'm sorry Vegas in
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: these did you see the follow up on the report
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: about why McDaniels is staying. They literally can't afford to
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: buy him out, which is wild. I'm gonna take the
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: Broncos at home to win this game. I like that
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: Broncos defense. I know they've given up a lot of
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: points this year, but I feel like they play really well. Yeah,
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: I picked a Vegas upset. I'm gonna take Denver two.
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: I do think that the best unit out of the
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: four units that plays is the Broncos defense, So I'm
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: gonna go with that at home and Raiders just having
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: one of those years they'll find a way to lose.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: Fred says Raiders win. The line is true, but it's
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: all about the spot truer words. If not that, I agree,
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: I'm not sure. I can't argue with that. I don't understand.
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: For twenty five Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys at six and
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: three against the eight and one Minnesota Vikings. This is
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: a good red zone game for US Paul Dallas by
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: one and a half, one and a Hey, tough, tough game,
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: m Minnesota at home. I'm gonna go with Dallas in
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: this one. Um, I think that'll that'll set the Patriots up.
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: But I just I agree with everything that we've been
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: saying about Minnesota. It doesn't seem like it's it's as
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: good as it looks in terms of their records. So
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Dallas in this one. So Minnesota
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: last week, aside, much better at home than they are
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: on the road. They're splits. Home road splits are really
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: heavily favored to homes. So I'm gonna say Minnesota's gonna
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: win this game. But I'm still not overly impressed by
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: the Vics. I just I like them at home in
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: this spot. Home dogs Minnesota both ways. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: take Dallas just because I think they're the better team.
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: And everybody will make fun of me because I don't
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: believe in the vikings. Fred likes the Cowboys. Cowboys cover
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: no witticisms on that one. Correct. Sunday twenty five, Cincinnati
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: Bengals at five and four against the Pittsburgh Steelers at
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: three and six, Cincinnati by four. This is a game
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: I think if your Patriots fan you're rooting for, you're
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: rooting for Pittsburgh. But I think it's a futile because
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: I think Cincinnati's gonna win, and I will play the points.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: And they're wearing they're all white uniforms. I guess, crisp. Yeah,
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: I think Cincinnati wins this game and covers that. This
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: Ers in one of those teams as well, where I
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: just what do they do well? Like, I can't really
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: think of anything that they can hang their hat on
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: and be like, we're good at this Cincy both ways. Yeah,
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna make it unanimous because Fred also likes the Bengals.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: I'll take the Bengals to cover, all right, Sunday night football,
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: nice one for us. After our game, the Kansas City
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: Chiefs at seven and two, travel to their divisional rival
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: to five and four Los Angeles Chargers game Kansas City
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: by six. Yeah, we've been talking all about it. I
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: think kNs City is the best team in the league.
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: I'm going to take them and and I'll play those points.
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Chiefs as well, but I'm gonna
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: take the Chargers to cover. The spread. This is gonna
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: be a great game. This is a one of the
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: better games early part of the season as well, right
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: as a Thursday night game. I think it was a
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: good Yeah, back and forth, So I think it's gonna
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: be close again. But Chiefs, Chiefs with the points. Yeah,
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: I am going to be with Evan. I'll take the Chiefs,
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: but I'll take the lack to cover at some point.
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: Some of their players have to play in some of
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: these games, right, I mean, you'd think Mike Williams will
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: be supposed to be back. He's on my fantasy team,
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: So there you go. Okay, so that's good enough. Fred
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: likes the Chiefs as well. All Right, Monday Night football,
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: San Francisco at five and four. They have a divisional
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: rival game against these four and six Arizona Cardinals. Um,
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: San Francisco by eight. I can't get a beat on
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: these teams. Like these are two teams this year where
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: I just I don't feel like I have any real
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: sense of how good or bad any of them are. Um,
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: that's a big road favorite. Huh, Ylers. We're not sure
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: about Kyler right right, I'm gonna take San Francisco to win.
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the points just to kind of balance
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: it out. Though. Yeah, I'm with Mike. I'm gonna take
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: San Francisco to win. But divisional game, I think it'll
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: be closer than eight points. I'm giving San Francisco the points. Yeah,
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: I am going to Um, I'm gonna take the points also,
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: I'll take I think the Niners will win the game,
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: but I'll I think eight too many for a division
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: home home game. Fred agrees, um, forty nine ers win.
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: Don't cover. Sharp's all over this one. But it's a
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: light handle. What is he typed in? Gambling target and
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: it was like an ay, I bought that. Just spit
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: it out, all right. We go back now Sunday, one o'clock,
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: our big game, the New York Jets travel. You're against paper,
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: the Jets travel to the Patriots. I'm trying to save
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: the earth. Unlike some people, you wouldn't have liked Derek,
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: but he got Polly. Let's our line out these days.
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: Patriots by three and a half. Three and a half.
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: So I am going to take New England to win.
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: But I'm gonna take those points to the Jets because
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: I feel like this is gonna be a very close
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: game under twenty points. Um, I have New England nineteen seventeen.
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: I think it's just a weird back and forth nail biter.
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: But um, I got the past two and oh in
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: all of this bravado in the office. If nineteen seventeen,
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: then I like the Patriots too, But I have twenty seventeen.
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: But because I have to pick a direction, I'll give
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: you the Patriots to cover this one. I still just
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: don't trust Zach Wilson at all. Well, he's such a
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: homer that he has to take even when it's the
- 2:00:25Speaker 1: spread isn't covered, he has to just take the Patriots
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: to cover. Yeah, his score did not indicate a cover. Alex,
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: are you're gonna do the same things three and a half?
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: Oh you said three and a half. Yeah, Oh, then
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: I take the Jets to cover. Okay, because it's twenty seventeen.
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: I thought I thought it was three. See what I
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: did there, I made him changes. But Pat's when Pat's
- 2:00:45Speaker 1: cover twenty seven sixteen, I don't know why. I feel
- 2:00:48Speaker 1: like it'll be kind of similar, hope to last game. Yeah,
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: I am going to take the Pats both ways. Fred
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: does also We talked about the game all week. I
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: just can't. If I'm a Jets fan, I have confidence,
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: but I have trepidation with Zach Wilson screwing it up.
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: And that's where I think is the difference. I think
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: the Patriots defense has feasted on horrible offenses like this.
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: They find a way to take the ball away a
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: couple of times. That's the difference. Nineteen thirteen Patriots. The
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: Jets did just get some reinforcements on the offensive line.
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: The doctor Laurent de Varney Cardiff, the doctor is signing
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: with the Jets. He can't play Sunday, Kenny, just letting
- 2:01:29Speaker 1: you have to be an out. All years after saving
- 2:01:31Speaker 1: everybody from COVID, it's inspirational. I guess the pandemic is
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: over according to the good doctor. All right, well that'll
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: do it for us. The playbook is up next. Be
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: sure to tune in Sunday Patriots pregame show at ten
