- October 25 Seek Humility Topic: Humility. Scripture: Zephaniah 2:3 3 Seek Yahweh, all you humble of the land, who have kept his ordinances. Seek righteousness. Seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of Yahweh’s anger. Context Zephaniah warns Judah about coming judgment and calls humble people to keep seeking Yahweh, righteousness, and humility. Even people already described as humble are told to continue seeking humility. Humility remains a continuing pursuit, not a finished achievement. Let It Shape Your Life Humility is not a personality setting that some people receive at birth. It is something Scripture tells us to seek. That means it can grow, and it can also shrink when neglected. You can be humble in one season and become defensive, entitled, or self-important in another. Zephaniah’s threefold direction is useful: seek Yahweh, seek righteousness, seek humility. Humility without God can become low self-esteem. Humility without righteousness can become passive people-pleasing. Biblical humility knows who God is, chooses what is right, and refuses to make the self the center of every room. You do not have to insult yourself to become humble. You can acknowledge strengths, receive compliments, lead confidently, and still remain teachable. A humble person does not think less truthfully about themselves; they simply stop needing every truth to point back to them. Think About It Where has confidence begun drifting toward defensiveness, entitlement, or the need to be recognized?
