- 0:00Thomas Alva Edison quotes, I have not failed, I've just found ten thousand
- 0:06ways that won't work. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize
- 0:13how close they were to success when they gave up. What you are will
- 0:18show in what you do. There are no rules here. We're trying to
- 0:24accomplish something. Genius is one percent inspiration ninety nine percent perspiration. We often
- 0:35miss opportunity because it's dressed in overalls and looks like work. Five percent of
- 0:41the people think, ten percent of the people think they think, and the
- 0:45other eighty five percent would rather die than think. There's a better way to
- 0:51do find it. The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are first,
- 0:59hard work, second, stick to itiveness, Third common sense. If we
- 1:07all did the things we are really capable of doing, we would literally astound
- 1:11ourselves. Your worth consists in what you are and not in what you have.
- 1:19When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this you haven't. Nonviolence leads
- 1:26to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we
- 1:33stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages. Our greatest weakness
- 1:40lies in giving up the most certain way to succeed is always to try just
- 1:46one more time. The doctor of the future will give no medication, but
- 1:52will interest his patience in the care of the human frame diet, and in
- 1:55the cause and prevention of disease. Anything that won't sell, I don't want
- 2:00to invent. Its sale is proof of utility, and utility is success.
- 2:08Negative results are just what I want. They're just as valuable to me as
- 2:15positive results. I can never find a thing that does the job best until
- 2:20I find the ones that don't. I never did a day's work in my
- 2:25life. It was all fun. A genius is often merely a talented person
- 2:31who has done all of his or her homework. Unfortunately, there seems to
- 2:38be far more opportunity out there than ability. We should remember that good fortune
- 2:45often happens when opportunity meets with preparation. Restlessness is discontent, and discontent is
- 2:52the first necessity of progress. Show me a thoroughly satisfied man, and I
- 2:58will show you a failure to do much clear thinking, a person must arrange
- 3:04for regular periods of solitude when they can concentrate and indulge the imagination without distraction.
- 3:10Nature is what we know. We do not know the gods of religions,
- 3:16and nature is not kind or merciful or loving. If God made me,
- 3:23the fabled god of the three qualities of which I spoke mercy, kindness,
- 3:29love, he also made the fish I catch and eat. And where
- 3:32do his mercy, kindness and love for that fish come in? No Nature
- 3:38made us. Nature did it all not the gods of the religions. Nothing
- 3:46is impossible. We merely don't know how to do it. Yet everything comes
- 3:53to him who hustles while he waits. I find out what the world needs,
- 4:00then I go ahead and try to invent it. I never did anything
- 4:04worth doing by accident. Nor did any of my inventions come by accident.
- 4:10They came by work. Not Everything of value in life comes from books,
- 4:15experience, the world. The value of an idea lies in the using of
- 4:21it. A good intention with a bad approach often leads to a poor result.
- 4:31I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.
- 4:39I haven't failed. I have just found ten thousand ways that won't work.
- 4:45Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were
- 4:48to success when they gave up hard work nothing to divert my thought. Clear
- 4:56air and simple food made my life very pleasant. Our greatest weakness lies in
- 5:02giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one
- 5:08more time. I never view mistakes as failures. They are simply opportunities to
- 5:15find out what doesn't work. Having a vision for what you want is not
- 5:21enough. Vision without execution is hallucination. We shall have no better conditions in
- 5:29the future if we are satisfied with all those which we have at present.
- 5:34I've never made a mistake. I've only learned from experience. The first requisite
- 5:43for success is to develop the ability to focus. I readily absorb ideas from
- 5:49every source, frequently starting where the last person left off. Each time you
- 5:57fail, you have eliminated another wrong option. Vision without execution is delusion.
- 6:06The secret of success is focus of purpose. Success is the product of the
- 6:13severest kind of mental and physical application. Success is ninety percent perspiration and ten
- 6:20percent inspiration. Good fortune often happens when opportunity meets with preparation. The successful
- 6:31person makes a habit of doing what the failing person doesn't like to do.
- 6:38Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious. Continued innovation is the
- 6:45best way to beat the competition. Remember life is all what you focus on.
- 6:53Learn lessons, and keep moving forward towards your goals and dreams. I
- 6:58have not failed. I've just found ten thousand ways that won't work. I
- 7:05get my ideas from listening from within. A good idea is never lost,
- 7:14even though its originator or possessor may die, it will some day be reborn
- 7:17in the mind of another. Everything comes to those who hustle while they wait.
- 7:27Accomplishing something provides the only real satisfaction in life. I never quit until
- 7:33I get what I want. The brain can be developed just the same as
- 7:40the muscles can be developed if on will only take the pains to train the
- 7:44mind to think. I never pick up an item without thinking of how I
- 7:48might improve it. My success is due more to my ability to work continuously
- 7:56on one thing without stopping, than to any other single quality. The world
- 8:01owes nothing to any man, but every man owes something to the world.
- 8:07Failure is the most effective technique to optimize strategic planning, implementation, and processes.
- 8:16Discontent is the first necessity of progress. Our greatest weakness lies in giving
- 8:24up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more
- 8:28time. Never be discouraged, because every wrong turn attempt, when left behind
- 8:35you, is another step forward, taking you closer to your goals. Do
- 8:43the thing and the power will come. I know this world is ruled by
- 8:48infinite intelligence. Everything that surrounds us, everything that exists, proves that there
- 8:54are infinite laws behind it. There can be no denying this fact. It
- 9:01is mathematical in its precision. People are not remembered by how few times they
- 9:07fail, but by how often they succeed. Every wrong step is another step
- 9:13forward work while others are wishing. The trouble with most people is that they
- 9:22quit before they start. The biggest failure of man is that he gives up
- 9:28before he realizes how close he was to success. Nothing that's good works by
- 9:35itself. You've got to make the damned thing work. Friendship is the heaven
- 9:41of life. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I
- 9:46will find the way that will work. I try not to invent things that
- 9:52people don't need. My main purpose in life is to make money so I
- 9:58can afford to go on creating more inventions. A failure teaches you that something
- 10:05can't be done, that way this problem, once solved, will be simple.
- 10:13Interest is the invention of Satan. There is much more opportunity than there
- 10:20are people to see it. Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits.
- 10:28It has been just so in all my inventions. The first step is
- 10:33an intuition and comes with a burst. Then difficulties arise. This thing that
- 10:39gives out, and then that dash bugs. As such, little faults and
- 10:43difficulties are called show themselves, and months of anxious watching, study, and
- 10:48labor are requisite before commercial success or failure is certainly reached. Never get discouraged.
- 10:54If you fail, learn from it, keep trying. Many of life's
- 11:03failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they
- 11:07gave up. I believe in the existence of a supreme intelligence pervading the universe.
