- 0:02Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls, it's your favorite time
- 0:04Speaker 1: of week. You download the crazy sheet, you get ready
- 0:07Speaker 1: for New Year's Eve, you get ready for some college
- 0:09Speaker 1: football playoff situation.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I'm Mark, I'm here in the podcasting studio.
- 0:13Speaker 1: My man, Scottie's out on the road, brother, How the
- 0:15Speaker 1: hell are you?
- 0:16Speaker 3: Man? I'm good in the mountains, a little skiing with
- 0:18Speaker 3: the family, so having a little fun, getting ready to
- 0:22Speaker 3: watch some games. Tomorrow starts early in the morning, so
- 0:24Speaker 3: it'll be good, or I guess. I guess games start
- 0:27Speaker 3: will be pick here shortly on ball games, but you
- 0:31Speaker 3: know it's gonna be a gonna be a fun New
- 0:34Speaker 3: Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't like the I mean, I like that
- 0:39Speaker 1: we've got New Year's Day as a college thing. In
- 0:41Speaker 1: New Year's Eve should be a college thing. But I
- 0:43Speaker 1: don't like the timing of how these games are all
- 0:45Speaker 1: spaced out. I like the rhythm of moving through week
- 0:49Speaker 1: to week to week until we get there because that's
- 0:51Speaker 1: how it's supposed to be.
- 0:52Speaker 2: And I don't know, man, So that's my only thing.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It is better than back in the day when we
- 0:56Speaker 1: would finish the conference championship and then we would wait
- 0:59Speaker 1: like sixty eight for the BCS and you're like, by
- 1:03Speaker 1: then you were like, oh, football is still on great,
- 1:05Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah, terms that's got no continuity, oh you know.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And I can't even imagine trying to have done it
- 1:13Speaker 1: a couple of years ago when you had the portal open,
- 1:15Speaker 1: coaches moving.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I mean, it's just crazy.
- 1:17Speaker 1: But here we are. We've got four games. Obviously there's
- 1:20Speaker 1: a bunch of Bowl games in there. I've got a
- 1:22Speaker 1: couple that I kind of like that we can toss
- 1:23Speaker 1: in it. Have it done great in bullseason? The one
- 1:26Speaker 1: thing that has done me right is the old bet
- 1:29Speaker 1: the first half under and if it hits, just let
- 1:32Speaker 1: it go, take your unit, move on, and if it
- 1:34Speaker 1: doesn't hit, then come back and bet the second half under.
- 1:37Speaker 2: About ten minutes.
- 1:38Speaker 3: So far, I gotta admit, I am I have lost
- 1:41Speaker 3: total interest in ball season with all the opt outs,
- 1:44Speaker 3: and the small games are more interesting than the than
- 1:49Speaker 3: the big games. You know. It's I mean, you've got
- 1:52Speaker 3: major players just bailing on teams. It's hard to keep
- 1:56Speaker 3: up with who cares who's going to show up. It's
- 2:00Speaker 3: you know, it's one of those things that it's it
- 2:02Speaker 3: is and there's so much going on around the holiday season.
- 2:05Speaker 3: You're like, I think I just am going to enjoy
- 2:08Speaker 3: watching NFL and watching college football and take step back.
- 2:12Speaker 3: So I've not been very involved in the in the
- 2:14Speaker 3: bowl season, but the playoffs are different.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I agree, Man, you don't think it's exciting to travel
- 2:20Speaker 1: from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Shreveport to spend your
- 2:23Speaker 1: New Year's because who doesn't want to do that?
- 2:26Speaker 3: Doesn't want to Who don't want to do that? And
- 2:28Speaker 3: then kick off at one pm? I mean, who doesn't
- 2:30Speaker 3: want to do that? And oh and Illinois coming into
- 2:35Speaker 3: nash Vegas. I mean, what do you do you think
- 2:37Speaker 3: those folks from Champagne are doing on Broadway?
- 2:39Speaker 2: Oh Man, having a big old time Tennessee. Just had
- 2:42Speaker 2: to drive across the state.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I mean, you know, Bert, I bet Birt's down their
- 2:48Speaker 1: partying right there.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Burt may have been shirtless last night.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Bert.
- 2:52Speaker 1: If we if a picture comes out of Bert at
- 2:55Speaker 1: the Kid Rock Club right there on Upper Broadway, I
- 2:58Speaker 1: mean I wouldn't be surprised at all.
- 3:00Speaker 2: That guy, he's still crushing ass. I'm sure.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Uh.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Big coaching news Scott University of Michigan goes from having
- 3:08Speaker 1: their coach arrested on felony charges having to fire him.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Literally everybody in the country thinking, oh my god, what
- 3:15Speaker 1: a mess.
- 3:16Speaker 2: What are they going to do? And they maybe land
- 3:20Speaker 2: the best.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Hire you could have possibly gotten with Kyle Whittingham coming
- 3:24Speaker 1: over from Utah.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Unbelievable job for them.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Oh, unbelievable job. And how bad does Utah look forcing
- 3:30Speaker 3: that guy out? I mean, what are you expecting? Do
- 3:33Speaker 3: you not know who you are? I mean that could
- 3:35Speaker 3: be the greatest identity crisis ever, like, not really truly
- 3:40Speaker 3: not knowing who you are as a program. I mean,
- 3:43Speaker 3: that guy did a phenomenal job after urban Meyer left
- 3:47Speaker 3: beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Oh that was a
- 3:50Speaker 3: decade ago. That was fifteen years ago. I don't care
- 3:53Speaker 3: that he had them. What were they three spots out
- 3:56Speaker 3: of the playoffs this year? I mean they play in
- 4:00Speaker 3: an average league where you don't get tons of opportunities
- 4:03Speaker 3: to make to impress voters, basically, and they run this
- 4:09Speaker 3: guy off because they want to hire one of his assistants. Man,
- 4:13Speaker 3: I don't get it. I think, and look, I think
- 4:15Speaker 3: his mentality is exactly what Michigan needs right now to
- 4:20Speaker 3: clean this has been a dirty program for a while.
- 4:24Speaker 3: And look, I like grball and I like what he did,
- 4:27Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, they were cheating.
- 4:29Speaker 3: That's just about the money, and we can romanticize it
- 4:33Speaker 3: all we want. Does everybody do some of what they're doing, Probably,
- 4:37Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, they were cheating,
- 4:38Speaker 3: and that was a dirty program all the way across
- 4:40Speaker 3: the board. Makes you wonder where good people really in charge?
- 4:43Speaker 3: What's going on. But at the end of the day,
- 4:45Speaker 3: Winningham's a great hire. He is the exact mentality they need,
- 4:50Speaker 3: and that is a program that's going to be at
- 4:53Speaker 3: its best when they are great on defense. That's how
- 4:55Speaker 3: they won the national championship. And that's exactly what Whittingham's
- 4:59Speaker 3: going to do.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, Man, I'm excited. I mean I really am.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I mean, I've never been a disc you know now,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm not a Michigan hater. I've always enjoyed the brand
- 5:09Speaker 1: and what they you know, what they are. I love
- 5:10Speaker 1: the school college football stack.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I love it. I love it.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Winningham coming in is the hard school.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I mean, I can't even imagine how excited he must
- 5:19Speaker 1: be thinking, Man, getting some five star talent. I mean,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I got some real five star talent. It's like anybody
- 5:28Speaker 1: in the country will take my phone call, and I've
- 5:30Speaker 1: got I got the money coming behind me, I've got
- 5:34Speaker 1: everything else. I mean, I hope they figure it out,
- 5:37Speaker 1: and I hope it's a monster because I have all
- 5:39Speaker 1: four I'm all for having a lot of great teams
- 5:43Speaker 1: in these conferences and creating the parody and stuff like that,
- 5:46Speaker 1: and me too. When you've got an engine like that
- 5:49Speaker 1: and you get a leader, God damn.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I hope they make the best of it.
- 5:52Speaker 3: But anyway, it's the same thing. Look, college football is
- 5:55Speaker 3: not at its best. If I'm in Michigan, Ohio, State, Alabama,
- 5:58Speaker 3: those schools aren't at their best. That's the truth. If
- 6:02Speaker 3: it's going to be at its best, they need to
- 6:03Speaker 3: be great. We need USC to be back good, you know,
- 6:07Speaker 3: for it to truly be at its best, for people,
- 6:09Speaker 3: for the whole country to be involved in watching what's
- 6:13Speaker 3: going on. So I absolutely hope this works, and I
- 6:16Speaker 3: think it's the best case scenario because you're thinking the
- 6:19Speaker 3: whole time. I mean, they just stumbled into this hire.
- 6:23Speaker 3: They knew it was going on, and they were waiting
- 6:25Speaker 3: to see is he gonna beat over the state and
- 6:26Speaker 3: maybe getting the playoff because that we're gonna brush it
- 6:28Speaker 3: under the rug. If you did that, I truly believe that.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And and and yet he gets fired. It all comes out.
- 6:37Speaker 3: They have let all of this go by. They look
- 6:40Speaker 3: like complete idiots for letting this whole coaching circle go on.
- 6:44Speaker 3: And then they land this guy at the at the
- 6:47Speaker 3: at the ninth hour, You're like, holy smokes out of you, stiff.
- 6:50Speaker 3: I mean, where is the rabbit's foot in ward Manual's pocket?
- 6:57Speaker 1: That guy is the worst.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I mean I would have fired him already. But that's good. Lord. Anyway,
- 7:04Speaker 2: I don't know college football, baby, it.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Is literally a soap opera that never.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Ceases to amaze. Excuse me, trying to be a little
- 7:13Speaker 4: call here. All right, Scotty, let's dig in here. We
- 7:17Speaker 4: are a college football playoff. We've got four games left.
- 7:20Speaker 4: First one is going to be Christmas, our New Year's Eve,
- 7:23Speaker 4: kicking off in Dallas, Texas.
- 7:24Speaker 1: There in Jerry world, you've got Ohio State in Miami.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Miami obviously, the one that snuck.
- 7:30Speaker 1: In the playoffs, just got done beating Texas A and M.
- 7:33Speaker 1: And what was quite possibly one of the worst football
- 7:36Speaker 1: games I've watched since I watched the Auburn Mississippi State
- 7:39Speaker 1: three to two game years and years ago. But Miami
- 7:42Speaker 1: took care of business man. They had a couple of
- 7:44Speaker 1: different opportunities. They boxed in that they absolutely shut down
- 7:48Speaker 1: Texas a and in his rushing attack and and Marcel Reid.
- 7:52Speaker 1: If it wasn't for some of the broken play runs
- 7:53Speaker 1: that he had, they would have had very little offense
- 7:56Speaker 1: at all in that game. Of course, the wind was
- 7:57Speaker 1: blowing thirty forty miles an hour. It made field goal
- 8:00Speaker 1: kicking almost impossible, as there were so many that were missed,
- 8:03Speaker 1: But that Miami defensive front stepped up and it caused
- 8:06Speaker 1: a problem for A and M all day long. A
- 8:08Speaker 1: and M looked exactly.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Like what we thought they were.
- 8:11Speaker 1: They were leaking oil on the way home, and that's
- 8:13Speaker 1: kind of how they ended their season. But you look
- 8:16Speaker 1: at this Miami team now that turns around. They're going
- 8:18Speaker 1: to come in they play Ohiose State. A lot of
- 8:20Speaker 1: people think this is the number one team in the country,
- 8:22Speaker 1: even though they just lost to Indiana in the Big Championship.
- 8:27Speaker 1: They're getting ten points in this one. You've got an
- 8:29Speaker 1: Ohio State team who just won it last year. Quietly
- 8:33Speaker 1: coming along. Are they going to be able to do
- 8:35Speaker 1: it again? When you look at this game, walk me
- 8:37Speaker 1: through what your thoughts are and how you're going to
- 8:39Speaker 1: play it.
- 8:39Speaker 3: If you play it well. First off, this game's going
- 8:44Speaker 3: to go as Carson Back goes period, end of story.
- 8:48Speaker 3: If this defensive line gets to him and they frustrate
- 8:50Speaker 3: him early and they pound on him early, I don't
- 8:53Speaker 3: know how this offense is going to move to football.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I really don't now. If they can somewhat get back
- 9:00Speaker 3: on track and hit a few plays, then this is
- 9:04Speaker 3: going to be a great football game. Do I think
- 9:06Speaker 3: that Back is going to get on track? Probably not,
- 9:09Speaker 3: because there's just been so many teams that have gotten
- 9:11Speaker 3: him off. I don't see how in the world this
- 9:14Speaker 3: great defense isn't going to do it.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Uh.
- 9:16Speaker 3: But I do expect it to be low scoring because
- 9:18Speaker 3: I do think this Miami defense is playing is playing
- 9:21Speaker 3: good football, even though it's not playing as well as
- 9:24Speaker 3: Texas saying them made them look last week. But I
- 9:28Speaker 3: do think this is going to be low scoring. I
- 9:29Speaker 3: think the best value is probably the under. That's probably
- 9:36Speaker 3: the best, probably the best way to play it. But
- 9:40Speaker 3: could I see Ohio State covering this if back doesn't
- 9:43Speaker 3: get on track. Yeah. So, but this is a whole
- 9:47Speaker 3: lot of points against two really good teams. Ten seems
- 9:50Speaker 3: like a big number. So you think, well, I'm sure
- 9:53Speaker 3: most of the square money is going to be on
- 9:56Speaker 3: on Miami because it looks too big. So but I
- 9:58Speaker 3: could easily see how just dominating this football game. But
- 10:02Speaker 3: who do we get from Ohio State? Do we get
- 10:04Speaker 3: conservative Ohio State that doesn't take advantage of Manda Man
- 10:07Speaker 3: matchups with their wide receivers and decides they want to
- 10:10Speaker 3: run the football, you know, against light boxes or you know,
- 10:14Speaker 3: things like that. We just gotta we got to see,
- 10:17Speaker 3: you know. And there have been multiple times this year
- 10:19Speaker 3: the Ohio State has been in mana mana happened against
- 10:22Speaker 3: uh Indiana where they had one of those two stud
- 10:25Speaker 3: receivers in a Manda Man situation and they an throwing
- 10:29Speaker 3: the football. And I don't know how those are both
- 10:32Speaker 3: top ten guys. You have to it should be a rule.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Jeremih Smith's and Manda Man coverage. He's going to deep
- 10:39Speaker 3: throwing the ball to him, you should It shouldn't be
- 10:41Speaker 3: a question. But look, the other kid is just as good.
- 10:44Speaker 3: I always want to call him Blake bus Time, Yeah,
- 10:47Speaker 3: Carnell Tate, but the but he's he's the same way.
- 10:51Speaker 3: I mean, that kid is a complete stud. If either
- 10:55Speaker 3: one of those guys is in Manda, man, you gotta
- 10:56Speaker 3: throw them the football. The bottom line, So who do we
- 10:59Speaker 3: get that we at the Ohio State offense that took
- 11:02Speaker 3: the you know, they took the chains off last playoff
- 11:06Speaker 3: season in the playoffs, or do we get the team
- 11:08Speaker 3: that played the Big Ten championship? We do tenth too many.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna go under here over unders. Round forty
- 11:15Speaker 1: forty one is where you're at a couple of things, man.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I dug into this game, spent a lot of time,
- 11:20Speaker 1: went back and watch, looked at some PFF A couple
- 11:23Speaker 1: of things. If you keep the pocket clean. Carson Beck
- 11:26Speaker 1: is ranked fifty eighth in the country as far as
- 11:29Speaker 1: being completions goes based on PFF ratings. They're there. When
- 11:32Speaker 1: he's pressured or blitzed, it drops off dramatically. I mean,
- 11:37Speaker 1: so he's had trouble with that. He's not the most mobile.
- 11:41Speaker 1: You've got basically Malachai, Toni and Fletcher that kind of
- 11:43Speaker 1: run the offense through which both of them are studs,
- 11:46Speaker 1: by the way, and then you've got that stud defensive
- 11:48Speaker 1: front from Miami. The other thing too, I don't like
- 11:51Speaker 1: about where this is going is Ryan Day's called the place.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Ryan Day has it called.
- 11:55Speaker 1: The offense in over two years now, and so you're
- 11:58Speaker 1: bringing that back into the which is something we haven't seen.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I'm kind of curious how conservative he'll go because I
- 12:05Speaker 1: think he tends to lean to be more conservative then
- 12:08Speaker 1: let it rip.
- 12:09Speaker 2: And so even though we've seen Julians.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Saying completely developed past his red shirt freshman status with
- 12:15Speaker 1: those wide receivers that he's got, I mean, you've talked
- 12:17Speaker 1: about it all year. When you've got the dudes that
- 12:19Speaker 1: he has, you got to let it go. But I
- 12:22Speaker 1: kind of think this could be a lot more conservative game.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I think Matt Patricia and that Ohio State defense is
- 12:27Speaker 1: going to dial up some issues.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I think Miami is going to be able to move
- 12:31Speaker 2: the ball, but I don't know.
- 12:32Speaker 1: How effective they're going to be trying to get the
- 12:33Speaker 1: ball in and have some big chunk plays. That's where
- 12:36Speaker 1: with Caleb Bownds back there, I think they are able
- 12:39Speaker 1: to do so many different things that a lot of
- 12:41Speaker 1: defenses can't do. I think they'll be able to mirror
- 12:44Speaker 1: where Malachai Tony is in that defense and so they can.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Follow him around.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I saw him do this last year with downs, used
- 12:53Speaker 1: him a lot of different ways confuse the quarterback play.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I think he'll get a lot of that same thing. Here,
- 12:58Speaker 1: give me under is where I'm going to go in
- 13:00Speaker 1: this one one. You did on the under in this one, Scotty.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Next game we've got, let's travel to the Orange Bowl.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Texas Tech be traveling out to Miami to match up
- 13:10Speaker 1: with the Oregon Ducks. When you get into this game,
- 13:13Speaker 1: this game has seen some line movement already. A game
- 13:16Speaker 1: opened up around one. Now we're starting to see this
- 13:19Speaker 1: Texas Tech getting two and a half. Fifty one and
- 13:22Speaker 1: a half is the total both of these teams coming
- 13:24Speaker 1: in twelve and one. Oregon absolutely demolished James Madison in
- 13:28Speaker 1: their game a couple of weeks ago, which we kind
- 13:30Speaker 1: of thought they would. But when you start to dig
- 13:33Speaker 1: into this game, it's really interesting. You've got one of
- 13:35Speaker 1: the best offenses in Dante Moore in the country. The
- 13:38Speaker 1: guy's done a fantastic job getting rid of the ball,
- 13:40Speaker 1: getting it out to playmakers. In about two and a
- 13:42Speaker 1: half seconds are faster, which is absolutely going to be required.
- 13:45Speaker 1: He's going to get this going against the defense in
- 13:48Speaker 1: Texas Tech that is one of the best in the country,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and a lot of people are starting to wonder, is
- 13:51Speaker 1: that one.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Of the best defenses they've seen in the last ten
- 13:53Speaker 2: years or so, And.
- 13:54Speaker 1: That could be true, But then you start looking at
- 13:57Speaker 1: who they've played in the Big Twelve and how good
- 13:59Speaker 1: are these offense is that they've been matched up against.
- 14:01Speaker 1: So when I started digging into this one, I think
- 14:03Speaker 1: this game is a complete coin flip for me. I
- 14:06Speaker 1: lean on the Texas Tech side because I think Texas
- 14:08Speaker 1: Tech I don't think people understand how good that defensive
- 14:12Speaker 1: line is. The reason Jacob Rodriguez is a household name
- 14:15Speaker 1: in college football this year is because he's been able
- 14:18Speaker 1: to play linebacker and not had to come through in
- 14:20Speaker 1: blitz because they don't blitz very often. Texas Tech is
- 14:23Speaker 1: one of the lowest blitz percentage teams in the country.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Because that defensive front's been able to get home for
- 14:28Speaker 1: them and they've been able to play fantastic rush defense
- 14:31Speaker 1: as well, and so I think that's probably going to
- 14:34Speaker 1: be something that's going to cause some issues for Oregon
- 14:36Speaker 1: because when they played two other defenses give this caliber
- 14:40Speaker 1: Iowa and when they played Indiana, both of those defenses
- 14:44Speaker 1: gave those guys problems. But both of those defense are
- 14:46Speaker 1: also high blitz packages, and so there are going to
- 14:49Speaker 1: open up some routes when you're having to pull linebackers out.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Why Tech defense has been so good all year is
- 14:55Speaker 1: because you're still having it when you're dropping back. You're
- 14:57Speaker 1: having to throw into a seven man back. It's not
- 15:00Speaker 1: like they're, you know, rushing three drop in eight. They're
- 15:03Speaker 1: rushing four dropping seven, but they're in there, you know,
- 15:07Speaker 1: whatever coverage they want to be in, and most teams
- 15:09Speaker 1: can't do that, and that's been a big difference maker
- 15:12Speaker 1: because it's hard to emulate that in practice because you
- 15:16Speaker 1: can't put you four guys down that can create that
- 15:18Speaker 1: much pressure that you have to get rid of it
- 15:20Speaker 1: in two and a half seconds, and then you've got
- 15:22Speaker 1: a full defense that you're trying to figure out what.
- 15:24Speaker 2: You're gonna sort yourself through.
- 15:26Speaker 1: So coin flip game, I'm gonna go with my heart, baby,
- 15:29Speaker 1: give me the Texas Tech Red Raiders plus two and
- 15:31Speaker 1: a half.
- 15:31Speaker 2: I'm hoping to find.
- 15:32Speaker 3: A three Joe warre offensive line versus a great defensive
- 15:36Speaker 3: line where I think you're gonna find out pretty early
- 15:39Speaker 3: in this game how it's gonna work. Is Tech able
- 15:43Speaker 3: to do what they've done all year against what is
- 15:46Speaker 3: arguably the best offensive line in the country, And if
- 15:49Speaker 3: they can, Tech's gonna win this game, or they're certainly
- 15:53Speaker 3: going to be right there in it. The real question
- 15:55Speaker 3: for Tech here is quarterback play. What kind of quarterback
- 15:59Speaker 3: play do we get that? You know, if he is efficient,
- 16:04Speaker 3: I don't even need him to be good. I need
- 16:05Speaker 3: him to be efficient and not turn the football over.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Then I think Texas legitimately got a chance to win
- 16:11Speaker 3: this game. I lean to defense always in these kinds
- 16:15Speaker 3: of games, especially great defensive line play. Look you show
- 16:19Speaker 3: me a great linebacker, I'll show you great defensive lines.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I can illustrate the great years for Ray Lewis when
- 16:27Speaker 3: he was with the Ravens, where Tony Sarah goes and
- 16:30Speaker 3: Hello Dinada in front of him, and when those one
- 16:32Speaker 3: of those guys were hurt, or the years that they
- 16:34Speaker 3: didn't have either one of those guys. He struggled. He
- 16:37Speaker 3: was just an average linebacker. You know, it's still a
- 16:39Speaker 3: great player. But man, when you got people at your
- 16:41Speaker 3: feet NonStop and getting to you at the second level,
- 16:45Speaker 3: it's hard to play. Linebackers. Show me a great linebacker.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Players show you great defensive line play. That's generally the case,
- 16:50Speaker 3: and I think that's exactly what's going on this year.
- 16:53Speaker 3: But when you've got linebackers that can run free, man,
- 16:56Speaker 3: it makes it hard to do things in the run game.
- 16:59Speaker 3: It doesn't matter who you're playing. And so I think
- 17:01Speaker 3: as long as this defensive line does what I believe
- 17:04Speaker 3: it can do and what they paid it to do
- 17:05Speaker 3: in the portal. They spent seven million dollars up front
- 17:08Speaker 3: in the transfer portal, and it's paid off handsomely. I
- 17:12Speaker 3: mean here they are exactly where they wanted to be.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I like tecking the points. I think this number is tight.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Two and a half. Got chances for it to get
- 17:19Speaker 3: to three at kickoff, because I don't think it's going
- 17:22Speaker 3: to go down. I think you got a chance for
- 17:24Speaker 3: it to get to three to three and a half
- 17:26Speaker 3: by kickoff. Give me the three points because I think
- 17:28Speaker 3: it's going to be a close ball game. I'd like
- 17:30Speaker 3: Tech all year. I'm going to continue to like them
- 17:33Speaker 3: until they lose the other thing too.
- 17:35Speaker 1: You got to keep in mind. And I know they've
- 17:37Speaker 1: been out there a couple of days, but still, this
- 17:39Speaker 1: game's kicking off at nine am Oregon time. Yep, we're
- 17:42Speaker 1: talking about travel across the country. We talked about the
- 17:45Speaker 1: other game with James Madison going the other direction. We
- 17:48Speaker 1: have not seen college teams be able to overcome this
- 17:51Speaker 1: massive travel. Now, granted, I know this is a couple
- 17:53Speaker 1: of days earlier. This is a little different, but again,
- 17:56Speaker 1: Oregon has it played on a stage this big, and
- 17:59Speaker 1: so the name Ran may be bigger than what we've
- 18:03Speaker 1: seen from them, what Texas Tech is. But at the
- 18:05Speaker 1: same time, you don't have a lot of guys that
- 18:07Speaker 1: have experience playing in games this big at this level.
- 18:10Speaker 2: So I think it's gonna be.
- 18:11Speaker 1: A great game. I'm looking forward to seeing how TeX's
- 18:13Speaker 1: defensive scheme up against Oregon's offense and Dante more Allen
- 18:17Speaker 1: He's again, is gonna be played really fast, really physical,
- 18:20Speaker 1: and I'm looking forward to every second of it.
- 18:21Speaker 3: So Tech doesn't, Tech doesn't turn the ball over. I
- 18:25Speaker 3: think they're gonna win this game.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I like it, Scott.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I like it all right, Scotty. Let's move on to
- 18:31Speaker 1: the next one. Two former Nick Saban disciples. Baby, I
- 18:34Speaker 1: think they were on the same staff. At one point
- 18:36Speaker 1: Kaitlyn de Boor and uh Kurt Sidneatty played each other
- 18:41Speaker 1: and did Kaitlyn de Boor coach for I didn't make
- 18:43Speaker 1: that up?
- 18:44Speaker 2: Right, he did coach under Nick Saban to that I didn't.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Think he did. If he did, I'm not aware of it.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Let me let me google it wired.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I just made that up then I thought for some
- 18:51Speaker 1: reason I thought he did. But anyway, moving on Alabama
- 18:54Speaker 1: getting seven points. Alabama is the team nobody thoughts should
- 18:57Speaker 1: be here. Last week against Oklahoma, they come out at
- 19:01Speaker 1: the end of the first quarter down seventeen points. Goodness gracious,
- 19:05Speaker 1: only to watch mate meltdown and that Bama team step
- 19:08Speaker 1: up and get tied up at halftime. Then they hit
- 19:12Speaker 1: some fifty cent coming out playing many men coming out
- 19:15Speaker 1: of the locker room, and oh, you just can't do
- 19:18Speaker 1: jack shit the rest of the game, and this Alabama
- 19:21Speaker 1: team maybe starts.
- 19:23Speaker 2: To look like what we thought they could have looked
- 19:24Speaker 2: like before the season started. You're seeing them getting.
- 19:27Speaker 1: A little bit of swagger and who they are. It's
- 19:29Speaker 1: been real quiet out of this Indiana camp. Indiana did
- 19:32Speaker 1: lose a big name player in the Big Ten Championship
- 19:35Speaker 1: in Stephen Day. That's NFL caliber defensive end for them.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I think that is going to cause an issue for him.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Bama's getting seven over unders forty seven and a half
- 19:44Speaker 1: in this one out in the Rose Bowl. Scottie, you
- 19:47Speaker 1: gotta play here.
- 19:50Speaker 3: I do have a play here. I like the points
- 19:52Speaker 3: in Bama. I think this number is too big seven
- 19:54Speaker 3: and a half. I think give me Bama here. I'm
- 19:58Speaker 3: still not sold on Indiana. I'm sold on Hurt Signetti,
- 20:01Speaker 3: but I think the losing the defensive lineman is going
- 20:04Speaker 3: to be a big, big deal here. It's going to
- 20:06Speaker 3: hurt their ability to get to the quarterback and tackles
- 20:09Speaker 3: for a loss. Look, this this Bama team hasn't run
- 20:12Speaker 3: the football well, but Simpson for the most part has
- 20:14Speaker 3: been It could have been a good quarterback for the
- 20:16Speaker 3: bulk of the year. Look, he had a chance to
- 20:18Speaker 3: win the Heisman, but way through the year, and I
- 20:22Speaker 3: think it was just a couple of games that cost him,
- 20:24Speaker 3: one being that Oklahoma game and in Tuscaloosa, and then
- 20:28Speaker 3: then he struggled against against Auburn. But that's a huge
- 20:31Speaker 3: rivalry game on the road, so two tough environments. I
- 20:34Speaker 3: think the guy is a really, really good quarterback, but
- 20:38Speaker 3: I just think this is too many points, I really do.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I think I think Indiana's good. I think they're talented,
- 20:45Speaker 3: but I don't think this is a great football team.
- 20:47Speaker 3: What they are is a well coached football team. I
- 20:50Speaker 3: think Signetti is the best coach in the country, so
- 20:54Speaker 3: I think that is the I think that's the deal
- 20:56Speaker 3: for me. Too many points here. I think this game
- 20:59Speaker 3: is going to be much like the Ohio State game was,
- 21:02Speaker 3: much like the penn State game was. I mean, you
- 21:05Speaker 3: start looking at them and yeah, they've won these games,
- 21:10Speaker 3: but man, they've been in They've been in some close games.
- 21:13Speaker 3: I just don't know that they're going to be able
- 21:14Speaker 3: to separate by seven and a half in this game.
- 21:16Speaker 3: That just seems like too.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Many roll tide rolled.
- 21:21Speaker 3: The Bower did not coach at Bama, but he is
- 21:23Speaker 3: the former Indiana offensive coordinator.
- 21:26Speaker 1: That's what my connection was. I couldn't remember. I forgot
- 21:29Speaker 1: where it was because that's where he pulled Michael Pennix
- 21:31Speaker 1: from when he went over and coached at U Doe.
- 21:34Speaker 1: That hec he was the OC in twenty twenty when
- 21:36Speaker 1: Pennis had a big year in the I knew that
- 21:39Speaker 1: was right.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I couldn't figure that. I can remember up top of
- 21:40Speaker 2: my head.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Had some cocktails through the holiday season, Scotty have a
- 21:44Speaker 1: little blur on some spots.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Next game in twenty nineteen. But yes, to your point,
- 21:48Speaker 3: that was his first year.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Let's move on, Caesar super Doll right there in New Orleans.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Old Miss Georgia matching up here in this SEC game
- 21:59Speaker 1: and this old Sugar Bowl lay in six and a half?
- 22:02Speaker 2: Is Georgia Old Miss.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Coming in here after that big win that they got
- 22:06Speaker 1: against Tulane Obrunners fifty five and a half. Both of
- 22:09Speaker 1: these teams are twelve and one against them straight up,
- 22:12Speaker 1: both of these teams have played again. If I went
- 22:14Speaker 1: back and watched this game from earlier in the season,
- 22:17Speaker 1: you know Old Miss was up in this game and
- 22:19Speaker 1: it was handling their business pretty well. And then about
- 22:22Speaker 1: midway through the third quarter, Georgia.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Turned and Old Miss had no answer for the rest
- 22:27Speaker 2: of the game. They couldn't run the ball.
- 22:29Speaker 1: They really shut them down that standpoint, and Georgia started,
- 22:32Speaker 1: you know, tracking. And so I've gone back and looked
- 22:34Speaker 1: at Old Miss last couple of games and this Georgia team.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Let me brow you what I think. I think this
- 22:39Speaker 1: Georgia team is peaking at the right time. Defensively, they
- 22:43Speaker 1: have stepped up. If you go back and look at
- 22:44Speaker 1: their last four games, they've done a hell of a
- 22:47Speaker 1: job in those games causing problems for teams, shut them
- 22:49Speaker 1: down offensively, really shut down the rushing attack up from here.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And I think you're.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Gonna get the same thing in this Old Miss spot here.
- 22:57Speaker 2: And I know Old Miss got to win. It's a
- 22:59Speaker 2: great story.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Lane's gone, you know, the distractions whatever. Haven't heard a
- 23:05Speaker 1: whole lot about.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Old Miss since beating too Lane and two Lane was awful.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Didn't deserve to be really in that game, and it
- 23:11Speaker 1: showed when they had to go up to Oxford and
- 23:13Speaker 1: play here. This Georgia team, to me, I think is
- 23:16Speaker 1: going to cause all kinds.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Of problems offensively for all this.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I think the two tight ends that George is gonna
- 23:21Speaker 1: roll with Branch the wide receiver, I think they're running
- 23:25Speaker 1: the ball now this game.
- 23:27Speaker 2: To me, his name, youn me be close. I think
- 23:28Speaker 2: George is gonna smoke these dudes.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I'm laying six and a half easy. George is still
- 23:32Speaker 1: my pick to win the national championship.
- 23:35Speaker 3: You know an underrate is that when you go through
- 23:37Speaker 3: and look at the head lines. One of the things
- 23:40Speaker 3: I love to do is look at team totals versus
- 23:43Speaker 3: where they think the over under is going to go.
- 23:46Speaker 3: And when you look at this, they're basically saying this
- 23:49Speaker 3: game is going to be a thirty to twenty four
- 23:53Speaker 3: to twenty five game. Right. That means they don't have
- 23:57Speaker 3: Old miscovering based on what they think the point totals
- 24:00Speaker 3: are right. And at the end of the day, I
- 24:03Speaker 3: think Vegas knows Georgia's right now the best team in
- 24:07Speaker 3: the country. They're playing as well as anybody in the country.
- 24:11Speaker 3: I think this is one of those situations where Ole
- 24:14Speaker 3: Miss gave them their best shot. It's generally very, very
- 24:17Speaker 3: hard to be the good team twice. The bottom mine
- 24:21Speaker 3: is Ole Miss let that game get away from them
- 24:23Speaker 3: after leading it for two and a half quarters, almost
- 24:26Speaker 3: three quarters before before Georgia took back over. And now
- 24:31Speaker 3: I think you're going to see four quarters of Georgia
- 24:33Speaker 3: really dominate the football game. I don't. I think Old
- 24:35Speaker 3: Miss is a really really good football team. They're better
- 24:38Speaker 3: than I thought they were. But I don't think they're
- 24:41Speaker 3: good enough to get it to get it done. I
- 24:44Speaker 3: think there was a lot of momentum on their side.
- 24:46Speaker 3: People were really fired up. Look, there's gonna be a
- 24:48Speaker 3: lot of most people in the Sugar Bowl this weekend.
- 24:51Speaker 3: It's gonna be a really, really good crowd for those guys.
- 24:54Speaker 3: There's so many people that can just drive to this
- 24:56Speaker 3: game so that they're going to have a great crowd
- 24:58Speaker 3: on hand. Super excited about where they are, so obviously
- 25:02Speaker 3: this is a huge moment for them. But George is
- 25:04Speaker 3: just business and Kirby smart I've been saying it all
- 25:09Speaker 3: year long, loves the situation he's and nobody's talking about it.
- 25:13Speaker 3: His comments about I'm announcing, I'm going in the portal,
- 25:16Speaker 3: I'm announcing I'm staying with my team. I haven't announced.
- 25:19Speaker 3: And you're gonna practice and you're gonna work harder, but
- 25:21Speaker 3: you're gonna improve as a player. You're gonna identify what's
- 25:23Speaker 3: weak in your game and you're gonna improve it in
- 25:25Speaker 3: the off season. We're gonna go to work. That's kind
- 25:27Speaker 3: of players we're looking for at Georgia. This feels like
- 25:30Speaker 3: a workman's type team, and I think that pays off
- 25:34Speaker 3: while everybody else is chasing dollars and chasing money. I
- 25:37Speaker 3: don't know how he's done it, and it's old school,
- 25:39Speaker 3: and I hope it keeps paying off for him. But
- 25:42Speaker 3: it just feels like this team just fits that mantraup.
- 25:46Speaker 3: It's been under the radar all year, nobody's given nobody's
- 25:49Speaker 3: given their quarterback play any respect all year, and he's
- 25:53Speaker 3: just gotten better and better and better and better. Owen
- 25:56Speaker 3: Gunner Stocking's got another year. So I mean, this is
- 25:59Speaker 3: just I think, just peaking. I think they're gonna win.
- 26:02Speaker 3: I think old missus in Major Trumboyer.
- 26:05Speaker 1: So looking at the four games that we've got, what
- 26:07Speaker 1: would you say is your top play those four?
- 26:11Speaker 3: I really like Thebama plus the plus the points. But
- 26:14Speaker 3: Georgia's second. It's a very very close, very close second, and.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I'm a Georgia lay in the points.
- 26:20Speaker 1: And then I like the under in this Miami Ohio
- 26:22Speaker 1: State game because I think Ryan Day is going to
- 26:25Speaker 1: be really conservative, and I think Matt Patricia is going
- 26:27Speaker 1: balls out and again trusted Mario Cristobaul to dial up
- 26:31Speaker 1: an offense.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Or a full game that you can stand behind is tough.
- 26:36Speaker 1: But I am looking forward to watching Mike Irvin and
- 26:40Speaker 1: all the Miami.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Hurricanes on the sideline in Jerry World.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I mean when he went full belt to ass in
- 26:47Speaker 1: A and m I don't know that the core knew
- 26:50Speaker 1: what to.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Do with They couldn't figure out what's going on down there.
- 26:52Speaker 2: It's like, man, is that a cocaine?
- 26:54Speaker 1: Oh cool?
- 26:57Speaker 2: Cocaine's cool again? You know, likes doing it. Let's all
- 27:00Speaker 2: get on some coke. I mean, come for it, you know,
- 27:03Speaker 2: why not? It's good stuff.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Looking at the eight teams that we've got left, based
- 27:07Speaker 1: on how you think these four games are gonna go,
- 27:09Speaker 1: who is your pick to win the national championship right now?
- 27:12Speaker 3: Georgia. I think two best teams in the country are
- 27:14Speaker 3: of out of state and Georgia, And unfortunately they're gonna
- 27:17Speaker 3: play in the semis.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Ooh doggy, Doggie bad.
- 27:20Speaker 1: My pocketbook would love to see a Georgia Texas Tech
- 27:24Speaker 1: National Championship game. Miami wouldn't hurt my feelings either, but
- 27:27Speaker 1: I don't think they're gonna be able to get through
- 27:29Speaker 1: High State.
- 27:29Speaker 2: So man, Scott, I'm excited.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Folks hit us up on Twitter. We always enjoy getting
- 27:34Speaker 1: some notes from folks. We try to keep up best
- 27:36Speaker 1: we can family time holidays, but we're gonna be dialed
- 27:40Speaker 1: in for these four games. Hit us up on the downloads.
- 27:43Speaker 2: We appreciate everything, y'all.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Be safe through your New Year's Scotty will be back
- 27:47Speaker 1: at you midweek next week, getting ready for the semi
- 27:50Speaker 1: final games.
- 27:51Speaker 2: As we're getting so close to wrapping this thing up.
- 27:53Speaker 1: With that being said, we love you all of them.
- 27:55Speaker 2: We'll talk to y'all next week
