- 0:01Genesis chapter 20, let us pray. Our Father, God of all creation,
- 0:14Lord Jesus Christ, Yahweh, everlasting Hashem, I don't I
- 0:25Early on, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the God of the
- 0:31universe, the God of all matter, the God of everything seen and
- 0:36unseen. God, we lay ourselves prostate
- 0:39before you. Lord, we are asking for you to
- 0:41envelope us, God, for you to completely ravage us, God to
- 0:47indwell us. Fill us today, Holy Spirit, I
- 0:52pray you give us the mind of Christ to day.
- 0:55Let us see this world all around us the way that you do.
- 0:58God, break our hearts for what breaks yours.
- 1:01Give us the depths and the heights of your emotions and
- 1:05your intellect, God, and your reasoning, Lord, and the things
- 1:09that you've planned for this life.
- 1:11God, I pray for all prophecy to come to fruition.
- 1:14Lord, I pray that we'll see the Spirit and the bride crying out
- 1:19God day and night saying come, Lord, come, Yeshua, come,
- 1:23Maranatha, come. Yes, Father, we love you.
- 1:27Lord, we press towards Zion, we press towards Jerusalem, we
- 1:33press towards your holy place. Father, I pray that Jesus Christ
- 1:39will come and take up residence. Lord, I pray that all the
- 1:44nations around the globe will flow into Jerusalem, Lord, and
- 1:50then we will all see our Savior seated, Lord, in the Millennial
- 1:56temple. God, I pray that you'll continue
- 1:59to fuel us, God. Purge us, Father, from all the
- 2:03draws. Lord, continue to allow us to
- 2:06live out your purposes and plans for such a time as this for
- 2:10right now. God, we pray for righteous
- 2:13judges and righteous leaders. God, to rise up in this hour.
- 2:17Lord, I pray against the apostasy of the church.
- 2:20God, the gates of hell will not prevail against the church.
- 2:26And so, God, we stand upon the chief cornerstone, the solid
- 2:31rock of Yeshua. We stand upon your eternal words
- 2:35spoken long ago, God, that are reverberating even today in the
- 2:40rafters. Lord, I pray that we'll continue
- 2:43to meditate upon your face. Meditate upon your ways.
- 2:47God, I pray that you'll continue to help us to know that you're
- 2:50near, that you're fighting our battles, that God, you are our
- 2:54everything. Jesus Christ the same yesterday,
- 2:58today, and forever and ever. God, we get out of our own way,
- 3:02we get out of our own intellect. God, we get out of our own
- 3:05feelings and emotions and reasoning.
- 3:07God and we laid down all of our own preconceived notions of how
- 3:13this life should go. God, we let go of fear and
- 3:16timidity. God, we let go of self
- 3:18righteousness. God, we let go of all of our
- 3:22religious vanity. God, we let go of all of our
- 3:26filthy rags. Lord, and we take up the cross.
- 3:29We lock eyes with you. Find us in the harvest.
- 3:32God, for you are holy, You are worthy.
- 3:36You're the only one who is deserving of all of our worship.
- 3:40Well, we give you adoration. We give you all of ourselves,
- 3:44every single molecule, every breath, every cell, God
- 3:49pulsating towards you. You are life, you are breath,
- 3:54and you are the reason that we live.
- 3:57So God, I pray you come and get your glory.
- 4:00God, come and teach us your eternal past.
- 4:02Lord, raise up leaders unto yourself.
- 4:05God, I pray for generational blessings upon this house.
- 4:10God, I pray you'll form a protection, a hedge of
- 4:13protection. God, send the angelic host, God,
- 4:16to protect this house. God, I pray for family.
- 4:20God, I pray for marriages. Lord, I pray for the sanctity of
- 4:23life. Father, I pray that you'll
- 4:25continue, Lord, to propel us into greater measures of who you
- 4:31are. We love you, we love you.
- 4:35King of Kings and Lord of the Lords, we love you.
- 4:38It's spirit to Santa, we love you.
- 4:41I deny we love you, Elohim, and it's in your holy and precious
- 4:46and powerful name, Jesus Christ, that I pray.
- 4:49Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 5:00And Abraham journeyed from there toward the S country and dwelled
- 5:04between Kedestian sure and sojourned and Garrard.
- 5:08So here we're going to see Abraham's lapse of judgement,
- 5:11his reasoning come to a faulty ledge where he falls off into
- 5:17self protection and moralism. And he's trying to explain away
- 5:22the things of God and he's trying to protect his own skin.
- 5:26Verse 2 and Abraham said of Sarah, his wife, she's my sister
- 5:32and Abimelech king of Garar sent and took Sarah.
- 5:35So here look at how this timeline, this divine timeline
- 5:39has been playing out. God appeared to Abraham told him
- 5:44that in one year space he was going to have a child.
- 5:47Abraham tried to say, yes, let it be so with Ishmael, and he
- 5:52said, no, it'll be your own child.
- 5:54And then the three visitors come, and they announced to him
- 5:57that he's going to have a child in nine months from that time.
- 6:00And that is whenever he went and saw the destruction of Sodom and
- 6:05Gomorrah and perhaps the burning sulfur and all of the smoke
- 6:10rising from that place drove him away from where he was dwelling
- 6:15and into Garrar. And look at how this would have
- 6:18been in the three months time span before Isaac was within the
- 6:26womb of Sarah. This would have been in the in
- 6:30the one to three month period, right before the nine month
- 6:34period. And so here you can see that
- 6:38this timeline fits dynamically into the storyline.
- 6:42And how in the world did Abraham think it was OK to lie about the
- 6:47very one that would house the ancestor of the Messiah, the
- 6:51lineage that Jesus Christ would be born into?
- 6:55And this Abimelech, he made a grave error by taking this most
- 7:01wonderfully protected, divinely anointed woman who is about to
- 7:11have a miraculous birth. And at 90 years old, she is, it
- 7:18is impossible physically for her to be able to have this child.
- 7:22And perhaps they had heard all of it.
- 7:25They had spoken with God and with Jesus, the Christophany
- 7:28there in the land. And then somehow in some way, in
- 7:32the same ways that we do, we forget the promises of God and
- 7:36we start operating within our own senses.
- 7:39And it is ridiculous when you look back with the 2020 eye view
- 7:44and you see how incredibly incompetent we are of ever
- 7:49living up to the standards that God sets forth.
- 7:53And thank God for the blood of Jesus Christ.
- 7:56Thank God for faith. Thank God for grace.
- 7:59Thank God for covenant blessings of God upon His people.
- 8:05Thank God for election, and thank God for predestination.
- 8:09Thank God that He chose us, friends, and He is driving us
- 8:14and He is actually leading us into greater measures of
- 8:19Himself. He's the one who is allowing us
- 8:22to draw a very next breath. Verse 3 But God came to
- 8:26Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, you are
- 8:30but a dead man for the woman which you have taken.
- 8:33She's a man's wife. So not only is she a man's wife,
- 8:37but she's actually housing the seed that the Messiah would come
- 8:41through the seed of promise. Verse 4.
- 8:44But Abimelech had not come near her, and he said, Lord, will you
- 8:49slay also a righteous nation? So look at how God can deal with
- 8:54the Pagan leader. Look at how God can intervene
- 8:58even within the Pagan constructs.
- 9:01God is unlimited. He can break in anywhere that he
- 9:04pleases. He's not limited friends.
- 9:07Verse 5 said he not unto me. She's my sister, and she even
- 9:12she herself said he's my brother.
- 9:15In the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I
- 9:19done this. So look at how Abimelech, he's
- 9:22speaking with God in terms of righteousness.
- 9:25He's done nothing wrong. And he's saying, look, I have
- 9:27practice integrity. I've not laid with this woman.
- 9:30God forgive us. 6 And God said to him in a dream, yeah, I know
- 9:36that you did this in the integrity of your heart, for I
- 9:40also withheld you from sinning against me.
- 9:43Therefore I suffered you not to touch her.
- 9:47God divinely protected Sarah during this time. 7 Now
- 9:53therefore restore the man, his wife, for he's a prophet, and he
- 9:59shall pray for you, and you shall live.
- 10:02And if you restore her, not know that you, you shall surely die.
- 10:09You and all that is yours. So here God is dealing with
- 10:13Abimelech, and he's telling him that he still thinks of Abraham
- 10:18as a prophet. And somehow, someway, the one
- 10:21that is done wrong is supposed to pray for the one that is done
- 10:24right. And look at how you can see the
- 10:27way that God moves and operates. He is unlike anything in our
- 10:32imagination. Look at how God's promises
- 10:35prevent veil even within the failures of His elect.
- 10:39What an amazing and beautiful thought, friends.
- 10:42And here Abimelech is speaking with the one true living God.
- 10:46There is no other God outside of the God of Abraham.
- 10:50And look at how God still deals with Abraham with favor.
- 10:55And he's telling Abimelech, let her go, or you will suffer. 8
- 11:01Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and he called
- 11:04all his servants and told all the things in their ears.
- 11:07And the men were so afraid. They were trying to figure out
- 11:10why they were experiencing the barrenness in the land.
- 11:15They were trying to figure out why there was a heavy hand upon
- 11:18them. And Abimelech found out in a
- 11:20dream through the one true living God, the God of Abraham,
- 11:24why he was experiencing all of the things that were happening
- 11:28in the land. And now his men are so, so
- 11:31afraid of the one true, living God. 9 And Abimelech called
- 11:35Abraham, and said to him, What? What have you done to us?
- 11:40And what have I offended you, that you have brought on me and
- 11:44on my Kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds unto me that
- 11:48ought not to be done. Look at how Abraham's being
- 11:51rebuked by a Pagan leader. And this is what happens,
- 11:55friends, even those of us in the Christian walk, in the Christian
- 11:59life, when we don't live up to the way that God would have us
- 12:03to live our lives in front of those that are lost.
- 12:07Even the lost will correct us along the way and tell us that
- 12:12we are not acting in accordance to what we say that we believe.
- 12:17And this is the principles of God.
- 12:19He brings us back, friends. He brings us back to the
- 12:23Father's house when we're out wallowing in the pig pen. 10 An
- 12:30Abimelech son said unto Abraham, What you see, in doing this
- 12:37thing that you have done, he says, What are you aiming at
- 12:41telling me that she's your sister, when she's really your
- 12:44wife and you serve the one true living God?
- 12:47Abraham? 11 And Abraham said, Because I
- 12:55thought, surely the fear of God's not in this place, and
- 12:59they will slay me for my wife's sake.
- 13:02So here he adds insult to injury.
- 13:06Friends here, Abimelech's trying to rebuke him.
- 13:09And what does Abraham do? He goes even further down the
- 13:13spiral, and he turns it around, and he blames it on Abimelech in
- 13:18his wicked Kingdom. 12 And yet indeed she is my sister.
- 13:26She is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of
- 13:29my mother, and she became my wife.
- 13:32And now he's trying to go even further down the sin cycle,
- 13:37friends. He's throwing it on her that she
- 13:41actually is his sister, that he didn't lie.
- 13:44And you can tell that even a half truth is a full lie.
- 13:48Friends. 13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander
- 13:54from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is your
- 13:58kindness which you shall show to me at every place we shall come
- 14:02say of me, He's my brother. Now he's throwing it off on God,
- 14:06he's thrown it off on Abimelech, he's thrown it off on Sarah.
- 14:11Now he's throwing it off on God, and saying, God has caused me to
- 14:15wander, and that is why I have to behave in this way.
- 14:18And he has taken no responsibility.
- 14:21And thank God that the covenant promises are not dependent upon
- 14:26human intellect and human behavior.
- 14:30And all of your righteousness is filthy rags before a holy God,
- 14:34friend. 14 And Abimelech took sheep and ox and men servants,
- 14:41and women servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored
- 14:45him Sarah's wife. So here Abimelech tries to make
- 14:49it right. He tries not only to give him
- 14:53back his wife, but he also gives him back some riches in payment
- 14:58for the time that she has spent away from him. 15 And Abimelech
- 15:03said, Behold, my land is before you, dwell where it pleases you.
- 15:08What kindness this Pagan king is shown to the father of faith. 16
- 15:13And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I've given your brother 1000
- 15:20pieces of silver. Behold, he is to you a covering
- 15:25of the eyes, and to all that are with you, and with all other.
- 15:30Thus she was reproved. So here with a sense of irony,
- 15:35Abimelech goes to Sarah and says Here, Behold your brother that
- 15:39she told me about, He does not refer to Abraham as her husband.
- 15:46And this was tongue in cheek. 17 So Abraham prayed to God, and
- 15:52God healed Abimelech, his wife, his maid, servants, and they
- 15:57bore children. So you can see the problem that
- 16:00was happening in the land was the Baroness and Abraham needed
- 16:04to pray for Abimelech. And you can see the synergy of
- 16:08God working amongst Abraham and he is covering over his mistakes
- 16:15and still using him mightily to do the work of God in the land.
- 16:20We'll end on 18. For the Lord had fast closed up
- 16:23the wombs of the House of Abimelech because of Sarah,
- 16:26Abraham's wife. So look at how even with age,
- 16:30even with promise, even with being on the cusp of a mighty
- 16:34act of God, we can still have failure, friends.
- 16:39And you can see that humanity is flawed, but God's promises will
- 16:45prevail even in our deprivation. What an amazing promise that
- 16:55God's purposes are not contingent upon our behavior.
- 17:06What an amazing promise, friends, that God can break in
- 17:10anywhere that he pleases, and he can even use a Pagan king like
- 17:16he did with Pharaoh and like he did here with Abimelech to get
- 17:20us back on track. I love God, I hope you do, and I
- 17:25hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 17:28I know I sure have. We can see that age doesn't
- 17:33automatically sanctify us, that we have to continue to stay in
- 17:38the vein. Get in the river and don't get
- 17:40out. Stay in the flow of the Holy
- 17:42Spirit within your life and allow Him to take you deeper.
- 17:46Allow Him to allow you to send to new heights of His love and
- 17:51His mercy and His grace. And He will continue to reveal
- 17:55more and more and more facets of who He is.
- 17:58But if you operate in spiritual pride and superiority, the
- 18:02little bit that you have will be taken from you.
- 18:05Stay rooted and grounded in God's Word.
- 18:08Never get out of it. Stay in it for the rest of your
- 18:11life and you will see the rewards at the end.
- 18:15You will see the sanctification at the end.
- 18:17But if you think that you know enough to get by and you step
- 18:21out, the very moment that you try to use, the very moment that
- 18:26you try to teach, the very moment that you try to operate
- 18:32within what you think you know, you will find frustration when
- 18:37you leave the fold. Friends, that is the reality of
- 18:40the God that we serve. Stay in it.
- 18:43Do not leave it. Don't use it for selfish vanity
- 18:48and self gain. God is not to be put in a box.
- 18:53God is not to be used for profit.
- 18:57He is the God who is the great. I am the only uncreated who
- 19:03spoke it all into existence. Worship him, creation.
- 19:07He is worthy of it. Stay blessed up.
- 19:11I love you, God loves you. We'll see you back here
- 19:13tomorrow.
