- 0:05Speaker 1: Mono GP went back to the Czech Republic for the
- 0:08Speaker 1: first time since twenty twenty, and a boy did it deliver.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We had a legend making his comeback. The other legend
- 0:16Speaker 1: put on a masterclass and a fiery on track clash
- 0:20Speaker 1: that has sparked just as much drama off track. Pittok
- 0:23Speaker 1: podcast is brought to you by Shannon's Insurance. I'm your host,
- 0:26Speaker 1: Ronita vmullin, and joining me is the man who's been
- 0:30Speaker 1: around since before Bruno was on the calendar, mister mac Layton. Matt.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I'm going to start off this podcast before we get
- 0:38Speaker 1: into all the craziness. Can you believe it the first
- 0:41Speaker 1: race of the year that there's only been one new
- 0:43Speaker 1: caddie on the podium and three different manufacturers.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yeah, bizarre, two caddies in the top ten. The way
- 0:49Speaker 2: you're doing that, excuse me, the way you're doing that
- 0:51Speaker 2: intro there, Ronita, I thought you were going to come
- 0:52Speaker 2: and knock me off my chair sort of, you know,
- 0:54Speaker 2: like a Bijuan miir for this podcast and just fall
- 0:56Speaker 2: in a heap on the ground. But that's a discussion
- 0:59Speaker 2: for a today. But yes, it was a strange woe,
- 1:01Speaker 2: wasn't it? Because We're so used to multiple de caddies
- 1:04Speaker 2: being on podiums, and there were many races at the
- 1:06Speaker 2: start of the season where you know, or five of
- 1:09Speaker 2: the sixty caddies were in the top five, and the
- 1:11Speaker 2: race that happened multiple times. I'm wondering, and we can
- 1:15Speaker 2: probably get into this a bit later, whether Bruno was
- 1:18Speaker 2: kind of the way the rest of the season might
- 1:20Speaker 2: pan out. Now, going back to something we were talking
- 1:23Speaker 2: about before about how the GP twenty four is going
- 1:25Speaker 2: to become more and more outdated as the season comes along,
- 1:28Speaker 2: But you look at the other manufacturers. At the moment,
- 1:30Speaker 2: Aprilia is going really well. Katim had a really good
- 1:33Speaker 2: weekend and so this was one of those rare weekends
- 1:36Speaker 2: where I don't think that Mark Marquez had the best
- 1:38Speaker 2: bike in the field this weekend, but he still won
- 1:40Speaker 2: anyway because he's Mark Marquez. But maybe that's something the
- 1:44Speaker 2: other manufacturers coming up is something that we'll see over
- 1:46Speaker 2: these last ten rounds of the year.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Well before we get into the riders and the manufacturers.
- 1:51Speaker 1: One of the biggest headlines from this weekend was Saturday's sprint,
- 1:55Speaker 1: and that was the fact that we have both the
- 1:57Speaker 1: factory Duke caddy riders Mark and Pacovanyaya both sit up
- 2:01Speaker 1: and move themselves back due to tire pressure warnings. Now,
- 2:06Speaker 1: for those of you who might not understand, maybe you
- 2:08Speaker 1: come from an F one background or whatnot, let me
- 2:10Speaker 1: give you a quick rundown of what happens. So during
- 2:13Speaker 1: the check GPS sprint, several riders are flagged for potentially
- 2:17Speaker 1: running below the minimum permitted front tire pressure. So that
- 2:21Speaker 1: included Pecobanya and Mark Marquez. Right, So Moto GP's tire
- 2:25Speaker 1: pressure regulations they were bought in to improve safety and
- 2:29Speaker 1: the guideline. And I say that an air quotes here
- 2:33Speaker 1: for the minimum front tire pressure is one point eight
- 2:36Speaker 1: bar and they have to hold that for a certain
- 2:38Speaker 1: percentage of the race. Now that can go oh, we
- 2:41Speaker 1: can go down depending on whether they have clear air
- 2:43Speaker 1: in front of them or how close they are, if
- 2:45Speaker 1: they're in a pack, if they're further down the field.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So I heard that this weekend the tire pressure minimum
- 2:52Speaker 1: change because there's a guideline, it was around one point
- 2:55Speaker 1: seven six. So we saw Mark Marquez and Pecobonna drop back.
- 3:00Speaker 1: You could go back and watch you see, first of all,
- 3:02Speaker 1: it's peker Vanyaya he's sitting up, and then one writer
- 3:05Speaker 1: comes past, then multiple writers come past, then a few
- 3:08Speaker 1: laps on we see Mark. Mark has actually slow down,
- 3:11Speaker 1: constantly looking behind him to see what's going on, and
- 3:14Speaker 1: then let Pedro Acosta come past and immediately sit on
- 3:18Speaker 1: his rear wheel. So we saw this happen. We knew, Okay,
- 3:23Speaker 1: it's tire pressure. There's got to be something here. But
- 3:26Speaker 1: there's two different, two very very different stories as to
- 3:31Speaker 1: why that happened. And Matt, I'm hoping you can give
- 3:34Speaker 1: our listeners a bit more of a detail because for
- 3:36Speaker 1: both of them, yeah, it was tire pressure warnings, but
- 3:38Speaker 1: they weren't the same reasons why.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yeah, the Banyaya one's the easiest one to explain, because
- 3:43Speaker 2: there was an erroneous setting, some finger trouble within the
- 3:47Speaker 2: Docadie garage, so the sensor was going off on the
- 3:49Speaker 2: dash even though it didn't actually need to, So that
- 3:51Speaker 2: was one issue there, But the biggest issue was that
- 3:54Speaker 2: the tire pressure measurement was actually setting correctly, so it
- 3:58Speaker 2: was telling Mark that he had he was outside the window,
- 4:01Speaker 2: as they liked to call it, in terms of the
- 4:03Speaker 2: number of laps he was within the mandated pressure so
- 4:05Speaker 2: it was basically sending erroneous warnings to several riders during
- 4:09Speaker 2: the race. And if you'd watched that sprint race, the
- 4:11Speaker 2: thing you remember afterwards that it flagged three riders up
- 4:14Speaker 2: for potentially breaching high pressure rings.
- 4:15Speaker 3: At the end of that race.
- 4:16Speaker 2: It was Iogura, Alex Rintu, well outside the top ten,
- 4:19Speaker 2: and Mark who had won the race. So there was
- 4:21Speaker 2: this confusion at the time. From Mark, he was receiving
- 4:24Speaker 2: messages to say that he was outside of the high
- 4:27Speaker 2: pressure window. The team was fairly relaxed about it because
- 4:30Speaker 2: they knew that he weren't. So there was a translation issue,
- 4:33Speaker 2: I guess you could say, from race control or the
- 4:36Speaker 2: measurement of the tire pressures to Mark, so he was
- 4:38Speaker 2: getting information that was different than to to Caddie, and
- 4:41Speaker 2: he was also getting information that was incorrect. Mark being Mark,
- 4:44Speaker 2: he thought, well, this is not working very well. I'll
- 4:46Speaker 2: just go and sit behind Pedro Acosta for a few laps.
- 4:49Speaker 2: When he knew then that he was going to be
- 4:51Speaker 2: within the window had there been an issue with his
- 4:53Speaker 2: tire pressure. He just passed a cost and gapped him
- 4:55Speaker 2: by nine tenths of a second. Did one and a
- 4:57Speaker 2: half lapse anyway because he's Mark Marquez. So I guess
- 5:00Speaker 2: there's a case of no harm, no foul here in
- 5:03Speaker 2: terms of everyone got the correct results and there was
- 5:05Speaker 2: kind of nothing.
- 5:05Speaker 3: To see here.
- 5:07Speaker 2: But it's not great for a series of this caliber.
- 5:11Speaker 2: This is supposed to be the absolute pinnacle of Grand
- 5:12Speaker 2: Prix motorcycle racing. We can't have finger trouble or incorrect
- 5:16Speaker 2: sense of data being given to riders. But I think
- 5:19Speaker 2: the wider picture with this is you spent ninety seconds
- 5:23Speaker 2: very correctly and eloquently describing what it is that was
- 5:26Speaker 2: going on. Does the average sports fans slash motor gpfan?
- 5:30Speaker 2: Do they not just want to watch a race between
- 5:32Speaker 2: people over ten laps or twenty one laps or whatever
- 5:34Speaker 2: it is. This is a byproduct of all of the
- 5:38Speaker 2: arrow that's crept into these bikes over the last few
- 5:41Speaker 2: years and the way teams have to run these front tires,
- 5:44Speaker 2: and the issue of safety is paramount here because given
- 5:48Speaker 2: the choice, the teams would run the front tire virtually
- 5:51Speaker 2: flat because they know that the tire temperature and therefore
- 5:54Speaker 2: the tire pressure is going to increase when you're running
- 5:56Speaker 2: in a pack. The silly thing about all of this
- 5:59Speaker 2: is that you are kind of predicting slashes, guessing what
- 6:04Speaker 2: your front tire temperature needs to be based on where
- 6:06Speaker 2: you are on the race track during the race. The
- 6:09Speaker 2: biggest example we got of this is you remember all
- 6:11Speaker 2: the way back in round four in Kata when Maverick
- 6:14Speaker 2: Vinalees is suddenly on the Grand Prix podium for KTM
- 6:17Speaker 2: and was given a sixteen second time penalty for incorrect
- 6:19Speaker 2: tire pressure. Because his team had figured that he would
- 6:23Speaker 2: be riding in the pack for the entire race, and
- 6:26Speaker 2: because Maverick has those two days a year where he
- 6:28Speaker 2: masquerades as the world's greatest rider, he got his way
- 6:31Speaker 2: to the front and took the lead of that race.
- 6:33Speaker 3: He passed Mark.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Marquez on track, spent a whole heap of time at
- 6:37Speaker 2: the front of the race with no with losing tire
- 6:39Speaker 2: temp and losing tire pressure in a race that's at
- 6:41Speaker 2: night as well the other factory at all of that,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and then Maverick basically was too fast for his own
- 6:46Speaker 2: good and cross the line in second place and was
- 6:48Speaker 2: classified fourteenth because he got a penalty, which I believe
- 6:51Speaker 2: we said at the time is the most Maverick Vinyal
- 6:53Speaker 2: listing to do of all time, so this will be
- 6:56Speaker 2: there's a resolution to this, and it's called twenty twenty
- 6:58Speaker 2: seven when we get these new eggs that come in
- 7:00Speaker 2: and we take all of the era off the bikes.
- 7:02Speaker 2: And everyone loves the performance of these bikes. I mean,
- 7:05Speaker 2: the speeds and the lap times they're doing is absolutely amazing.
- 7:09Speaker 2: But when you are making something that should be fairly
- 7:11Speaker 2: simple to understand really really convoluted. And the worst part
- 7:16Speaker 2: about it was because it's a sprint race and they're
- 7:18Speaker 2: over in basically twenty minutes. We spent the best part
- 7:21Speaker 2: of twenty minutes wondering who was in the tire window,
- 7:23Speaker 2: who was outside the tire window, what pressure are people
- 7:25Speaker 2: running this and that. Meanwhile, there's twenty two guys having
- 7:28Speaker 2: a motorcycle race and we're trying to understand what's going
- 7:31Speaker 2: on on track through the lens of all of these
- 7:33Speaker 2: would be penalties or possible penalties on who's in and
- 7:36Speaker 2: out of the window. They've created an enormous mess for
- 7:39Speaker 2: themselves with this. It's hard to follow, it's hard to watch.
- 7:43Speaker 2: It's a massive turnoff for people who just want to
- 7:44Speaker 2: watch a good bike race. We do have a solution
- 7:47Speaker 2: to this. I will give the I will give Michelin
- 7:52Speaker 2: and the teams a little bit of a pass on
- 7:53Speaker 2: this first time we've bring to Bruno in five years.
- 7:56Speaker 2: And Friday was kind of a wipeout anyway because it
- 7:58Speaker 2: was so wet, so one done any dry where they're running.
- 8:01Speaker 2: No one really had the data. There was a lot
- 8:03Speaker 2: of guesswork going on on Saturday. And I think you
- 8:05Speaker 2: could see the benefits of it being dry on Saturday,
- 8:08Speaker 2: because on Sunday were we talking about tire pressure penalties
- 8:10Speaker 2: at all? In the Grand Prix, No no one even
- 8:12Speaker 2: mentioned it because everyone had the data to set their
- 8:14Speaker 2: tires correctly.
- 8:16Speaker 3: But here we are about what.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Six minutes into a podcast, and we've spent five and
- 8:20Speaker 2: a half minutes of it talking about tires, which you know,
- 8:23Speaker 2: they're black and round and they go around in circles
- 8:24Speaker 2: and that's all great, But it's not why people tune
- 8:27Speaker 2: into watch, is it.
- 8:28Speaker 1: No, you're right, it's not why people tune in to watch.
- 8:30Speaker 1: And I do think like a fan who or sorry,
- 8:33Speaker 1: maybe just someone who's casually tuning in or tuning in
- 8:37Speaker 1: for the first time, going, oh, it's a Saturday afternoon
- 8:39Speaker 1: in Europe. I can watch a sprint or hear in
- 8:42Speaker 1: Australia and then they see the race leader sitting up
- 8:46Speaker 1: and letting the guy behind him pass. Is that going
- 8:50Speaker 1: to entice someone to want to tune in again and
- 8:52Speaker 1: want to keep watching Moto GP.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I just think it makes it unnecessarily confusing because my
- 8:57Speaker 2: first thought is my first thought when I saw it,
- 9:00Speaker 2: was Oh, maybe there's a technical problem here, or it's
- 9:03Speaker 2: made a mistake, or maybe there's a breakdown with one
- 9:05Speaker 2: of these machines. That's your first thought. Whenever you see
- 9:07Speaker 2: anyone in motorsport in that sort of situation checking up,
- 9:10Speaker 2: you usually come to the conclusion that there's a mechanical
- 9:14Speaker 2: that's about to happen. Fair assumption, right, And so I
- 9:18Speaker 2: think if you're trying to entice the casual fan or
- 9:20Speaker 2: the person that's only intermittently interested in things like the sprints,
- 9:25Speaker 2: it is a turn off because it adds a layer
- 9:27Speaker 2: of complexity that you're going you went through a really
- 9:32Speaker 2: detailed description which was completely correct, but for the casual
- 9:34Speaker 2: fan that's just too much overloed, quite frankly, and even
- 9:37Speaker 2: for the participants within the race and the teams and
- 9:40Speaker 2: the TV broadcast. It adds an unnecessary layer of complexity.
- 9:44Speaker 2: There is a solution to this. This is probably not
- 9:46Speaker 2: going to be the last time you and I talk
- 9:48Speaker 2: about this, but I think it was exacerbated a little
- 9:51Speaker 2: bit by the fact that we hadn't been at Bruno
- 9:52Speaker 2: for five years.
- 9:53Speaker 3: You look at a picture of.
- 9:54Speaker 2: A motor GP bike from twenty twenty when Brad Benda
- 9:56Speaker 2: won there at Bruno, and go side by side with
- 9:59Speaker 2: the picture of a twenty twenty bike. It's almost a
- 10:01Speaker 2: different sport. It's the best visual demonstration of how much
- 10:04Speaker 2: this sport's moved on in the past five years. The arrow,
- 10:08Speaker 2: you know, the gend's out of the bottle when it
- 10:10Speaker 2: comes to the erro stuff right, you can't stuff it
- 10:11Speaker 2: back in. And fortunately we do have an ind date
- 10:14Speaker 2: for this for bring on twenty seven.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I think, well, yeh so, because twenty twenty seven like
- 10:19Speaker 1: the real changes that matches said, but we've also got
- 10:22Speaker 1: the new time manufacturers Parelli you're coming in now like
- 10:25Speaker 1: for qualifying though I don't know if a lot of
- 10:27Speaker 1: people know this, but they actually do run quite a
- 10:29Speaker 1: low tire pressure for qualifying. So even if the safety
- 10:33Speaker 1: is there, because there's a potential if the tire pressure,
- 10:38Speaker 1: you know, is at that minimum, that there could be
- 10:42Speaker 1: an issue where it comes off the wheel or something
- 10:44Speaker 1: at a rider could get injured. It's crazy to think
- 10:47Speaker 1: that they actually are running a lower tire pressure when
- 10:49Speaker 1: they are doing qualifying anyway, the fact that they are
- 10:52Speaker 1: doing it but they're not. But then Michelin, we're going
- 10:55Speaker 1: to bring in a new front tire. Now they're not.
- 10:57Speaker 1: But we've got Parelli in twenty seven. It's like, Okay,
- 11:00Speaker 1: I'm not going to solve this problem now, but is
- 11:02Speaker 1: it going to be still what we're talking about in
- 11:04Speaker 1: twenty twenty seven.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I would doubt it because you've got a few
- 11:07Speaker 2: factors at play there. You've got eight fifties rather than
- 11:09Speaker 2: one thousand cc bikes, you've got no ride height devices
- 11:11Speaker 2: front or rear, you've got no limited arrow, and you've
- 11:14Speaker 2: got a new tire supplier. So by gracing being what
- 11:18Speaker 2: it is, there will be some sort of new gray
- 11:21Speaker 2: area for the teams to exploit. Because that's what this
- 11:24Speaker 2: comes down to, right, It's a performance issue. If you
- 11:26Speaker 2: under inflate your tires, it's generally for performance reasons, but
- 11:29Speaker 2: you've got to try and tiptoe the line between performance
- 11:31Speaker 2: and safety. Like you said before, the last thing we
- 11:34Speaker 2: need is an overinflated tire coming off of RIM at
- 11:37Speaker 2: three hundred ks an hour, because that's an aeroplane accident.
- 11:39Speaker 3: We don't need to see that.
- 11:41Speaker 2: And so there will be something else in the twenty
- 11:44Speaker 2: twenty seven rags that we can't foresee yet, and it
- 11:48Speaker 2: will become sort of the topic DJUR or become the
- 11:50Speaker 2: thing that we're talking about. That's a controversy because you know,
- 11:53Speaker 2: in any form of motorsport, right, it's not so much
- 11:55Speaker 2: what the rule book says, it's what the rule book
- 11:58Speaker 2: doesn't say. And so will look at the rule book
- 12:01Speaker 2: and say, well, it says that we can't do this,
- 12:03Speaker 2: but it doesn't say that we can't do that, And
- 12:05Speaker 2: so teams operate in the gray areas because that's how
- 12:08Speaker 2: you get an advantage over the others. There'll be something
- 12:10Speaker 2: else that comes up in twenty seven. We just don't
- 12:12Speaker 2: know what it is yet.
- 12:13Speaker 1: No exactly, and that's what we get to look forward to.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Exactly what I thought was really interesting now that I've
- 12:19Speaker 1: gone back and I've thought about it, or I think
- 12:23Speaker 1: that not the only hindrance to Peko's weekend. But you
- 12:28Speaker 1: look at what happened when Peco sat up and then
- 12:31Speaker 1: he let one bike pass, he slowed down, and after that,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I think another bike came past pretty much straight away.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Then you look at where Mark did it. Now, Mark
- 12:41Speaker 1: kind of was looking around him for a while because
- 12:43Speaker 1: he was already gapping Pedro. He waited for Pedro to
- 12:46Speaker 1: come pass, and sat right behind him like he's already
- 12:49Speaker 1: on the throttle as Pedro was coming past. I think
- 12:52Speaker 1: that Peco made It's hard when the warning's up and
- 12:58Speaker 1: he's trying to figure out and now I'm not riding
- 12:59Speaker 1: a bike at three hundred comers now. But I think
- 13:02Speaker 1: that maybe the choice of when he did his drop
- 13:06Speaker 1: down and everything, I think that definitely hindered him. We
- 13:09Speaker 1: know he had the light was on and the issue
- 13:11Speaker 1: and everything there, but look, he didn't have a great
- 13:14Speaker 1: weekend to start with, which we'll go into more detail,
- 13:16Speaker 1: but how much of that really came into play of
- 13:19Speaker 1: just that that MILLI second decision?
- 13:21Speaker 3: Right, it was two things.
- 13:22Speaker 2: For me, what you what you said is completely right,
- 13:24Speaker 2: it's when he did it. For me, it was a
- 13:26Speaker 2: bit of what he did afterwards, because all year Pecko
- 13:30Speaker 2: was talked about not having the confidence on the front
- 13:32Speaker 2: of the decade. So if you're on a bike that's
- 13:34Speaker 2: capable of winning the sprint, which Mark Marquez clearly was,
- 13:37Speaker 2: it's the same bike. Pecko doesn't have the confidence on
- 13:40Speaker 2: the front end of the bike or the decisiveness in
- 13:42Speaker 2: traffic to be able to let one to however many
- 13:45Speaker 2: riders go and then just when at a time of
- 13:48Speaker 2: his choosing just to immediately go back past people, And
- 13:51Speaker 2: so to me, as you were watching it, when you
- 13:54Speaker 2: saw Banyaya drop behind probably more riders than he wanted to,
- 13:57Speaker 2: never at any point did I think, well, that's fine,
- 13:59Speaker 2: he'll just get all those back, Whereas when Mark dropped
- 14:02Speaker 2: behind a Costa, you're just thinking, well, he'll just decide
- 14:04Speaker 2: to pull the pin. Whether it's two laps to go
- 14:06Speaker 2: or one lap to go, he's just going to sit
- 14:07Speaker 2: there and stalk and stalk and stalk, and when it's decided,
- 14:10Speaker 2: when it's time to go. I felt like a Costa
- 14:12Speaker 2: could do nothing about that. It was completely on Mark
- 14:15Speaker 2: when he wanted to go back and win the race.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Whereas once you saw Bangyay buried inside that top five
- 14:19Speaker 2: a little bit, you're thinking he's not coming back from this,
- 14:22Speaker 2: and that's the difference to me between two riders on
- 14:25Speaker 2: the same bike this year. It's funny like that sort
- 14:27Speaker 2: of mid race change of position kind of summed up
- 14:30Speaker 2: the entire season for me because there was never any
- 14:33Speaker 2: doubt that Mark was coming back to take the lead,
- 14:35Speaker 2: and there was never any doubt in my mind that
- 14:37Speaker 2: Banyay was stuck.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Where he was.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the narrative of this year. You've hit the
- 14:42Speaker 1: nail on the head exactly. The peker Bannoel, Like I said,
- 14:46Speaker 1: we want to I want to touch on him because
- 14:48Speaker 1: from what I've heard, he chose a wrong tire Friday afternoon.
- 14:51Speaker 1: It was guidance from his team, but he wanted to
- 14:55Speaker 1: go a different way. They said no, And then I
- 14:57Speaker 1: believe my Alex chose the time that he wanted to
- 15:00Speaker 1: and look at where Alex ended up, right, So we
- 15:02Speaker 1: had that wrong tire choice Friday afternoon. We knew the
- 15:04Speaker 1: weather was pretty crappy anyway on Friday, the wet wet
- 15:09Speaker 1: sessions secured pole. On Saturday managed to come through from
- 15:13Speaker 1: Q one into Q two secured Pole, but only because
- 15:16Speaker 1: Mark crashed out when he was on that flyer and
- 15:18Speaker 1: said he got spooked by I think it was.
- 15:20Speaker 3: A Zarko crashed in front of him.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. But then so you see this downer on Friday,
- 15:27Speaker 1: a little bit up on Saturday, then that downer on
- 15:29Speaker 1: Saturday's sprint, and then on Sunday with the Grand Prix
- 15:34Speaker 1: he got the whole shot and then ran white again.
- 15:37Speaker 1: It's like, and we know Peco it has to be
- 15:41Speaker 1: perfection for him, but I also feel like when he's
- 15:44Speaker 1: got the opportunity, he's not making the most of it.
- 15:47Speaker 2: But it's kind of two variations of the same problem
- 15:49Speaker 2: in that he's not a guy who traditionally can just
- 15:53Speaker 2: and this is to his great credit, he's not someone
- 15:55Speaker 2: who can park his brain and just go for it. Sometimes.
- 15:57Speaker 2: He's so analytical in the way that he of the
- 16:00Speaker 2: way that he thinks in that we saw this last year.
- 16:03Speaker 2: If you get a bite that is in the sweet
- 16:04Speaker 2: spot and you give him the sharpest possible tool to
- 16:08Speaker 2: exploit it, he's unbelievably consistent with it in that he
- 16:11Speaker 2: didn't you know, once he got himself to the front
- 16:13Speaker 2: of races, he would just beat you like it's death
- 16:15Speaker 2: by a thousand cuts. Alright, He just takes a tenth
- 16:17Speaker 2: or a tenth there next thing you look up and
- 16:19Speaker 2: it's four tenths and it's eight tenths. And he doesn't
- 16:21Speaker 2: have that volcanic Marquez pace, nor does he have Mark's
- 16:25Speaker 2: ability to sort of push the envelope. That's not who
- 16:27Speaker 2: who is. And the thing I do like about the
- 16:30Speaker 2: way the two of them go racing when they're both
- 16:32Speaker 2: at their best is that they're trying to achieve the
- 16:35Speaker 2: same thing very very differently, which is always fun to
- 16:38Speaker 2: see which of the two sort of styles and mindsets work.
- 16:41Speaker 3: At the moment.
- 16:43Speaker 2: You could argue that Peco needs to maybe think a
- 16:45Speaker 2: little bit less and maybe take a few more chances,
- 16:47Speaker 2: but that's not in his DNA. That's not who he
- 16:49Speaker 2: is as a rider. And we talk about this on
- 16:52Speaker 2: a previous episode in that there's a lot of Johe
- 16:54Speaker 2: Lorenzo in the way that Banya operates in that when
- 16:58Speaker 2: everything is just so in the sweet spot, you look
- 17:01Speaker 2: at him and go, how's anyone going to beat this guy?
- 17:03Speaker 2: Because he's so unbelievably good, Whereas Mark is the is
- 17:07Speaker 2: the sort of improviser he's prepared to dance on the
- 17:09Speaker 2: tightrope a bit more, he's prepared to take a little
- 17:11Speaker 2: bit more risk. He's a lot like Casey Stoner was
- 17:14Speaker 2: in Casey's heyday, who would just live on rawability and
- 17:16Speaker 2: his wits. But the thing for me with this version
- 17:19Speaker 2: of Mark, and this is something that it was quite
- 17:21Speaker 2: interesting watching him in the post race presser on Sunday night.
- 17:25Speaker 2: He's the same writer with the same name as the
- 17:27Speaker 2: writer that won those six world championships in seven years.
- 17:30Speaker 2: But there's something really different about Mark now and that
- 17:32Speaker 2: I think he in the past, I don't think he
- 17:35Speaker 2: could necessarily control his natural instincts on when to push
- 17:38Speaker 2: and how to push. Now, I think he knows that
- 17:42Speaker 2: he can push, but he's better at when he deploys that.
- 17:45Speaker 2: And maybe that's just a product of him being a
- 17:47Speaker 2: bit older and a bit wiser and maybe realizing what
- 17:52Speaker 2: it was that he lost with those sort of five
- 17:54Speaker 2: years where he was in the wilderness through injuries. Because
- 17:57Speaker 2: and he's never shied away from this. Let's remember that
- 17:59Speaker 2: when things changed him in twenty twenty with the first
- 18:01Speaker 2: of those the first accident and the first surgery, there
- 18:04Speaker 2: was no one or nothing to blame but himself for that.
- 18:07Speaker 2: He knew that he had overreached that day, just in
- 18:09Speaker 2: his sort of anger and adrenaline to try and get
- 18:12Speaker 2: back to the front of that Spanish Grand Prix. It
- 18:14Speaker 2: was his impetuosity and his decision to push the envelope
- 18:17Speaker 2: that day that pretty much ruined five years of his
- 18:20Speaker 2: career with everything that followed. I reckon that's been a
- 18:22Speaker 2: really heavy burden for him to carry around for the
- 18:25Speaker 2: last five years, because it's not like he can say, well,
- 18:27Speaker 2: the bike spapped me off, or the tire was defective,
- 18:29Speaker 2: or the team did something or someone else, you know,
- 18:31Speaker 2: someone punted me off or whatever it was. It was
- 18:33Speaker 2: completely of his doing. And so there's this sort of
- 18:37Speaker 2: like thirty five thousand foot view of Mark now where
- 18:39Speaker 2: he sees things and he represses his instincts necessarily, And
- 18:44Speaker 2: it was so telling to me on Sunday after the race,
- 18:46Speaker 2: where he knew that he had the race done, and
- 18:49Speaker 2: to keep himself sharp and to keep himself intense and
- 18:52Speaker 2: to keep himself interested, he'd occasionally just go out and say,
- 18:55Speaker 2: I think I might try and set the fastest lap
- 18:56Speaker 2: on on this lab and really really push for a lap,
- 19:00Speaker 2: and then he might ease off a little bit and
- 19:01Speaker 2: then he'd really really push again. And this goes back
- 19:03Speaker 2: to this narrative that we've been talking about for months
- 19:05Speaker 2: now in that the biggest opponent for Mark this year
- 19:08Speaker 2: is Mark. And it's only now because of the fact
- 19:12Speaker 2: that Alex Marqus has had a couple of ropie weekends
- 19:14Speaker 2: that we've actually seen the championship margin blowout and it's
- 19:19Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty points now, that to me feels
- 19:21Speaker 2: like an accurate representation of Mark and whoever is the
- 19:25Speaker 2: next best rider this year, because I think he has
- 19:27Speaker 2: been that much better than everybody. It's just taken us
- 19:30Speaker 2: the last couple of rounds to get to where that
- 19:32Speaker 2: margin should be, and that to me feels real now.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Is like when Alex was twenty thirty points behind, Never
- 19:38Speaker 2: in my head did I think he's only really twenty
- 19:41Speaker 2: or thirty points behind. Mark's kind of kept him in
- 19:43Speaker 2: it through some mistakes. Now Marcus stopped making the mistakes.
- 19:46Speaker 2: This is where you see the difference, right.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I'm so glad you brought that up about Mark and
- 19:51Speaker 1: what was happening in the Grand Prix, because when I
- 19:53Speaker 1: heard the same thing, I just went, You've got to
- 19:55Speaker 1: be kidding me, Like, who does that and then I go, oh,
- 19:58Speaker 1: it's a Mark Marquez thing. You know, the Mark's accident
- 20:02Speaker 1: happened July nineteenth, twenty What date was the Czech Grand Prix,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and what date did he break the record? For you,
- 20:09Speaker 1: Caddy and all? That was around July nineteenth, twenty twenty five,
- 20:13Speaker 1: so it was almost a five years right to the
- 20:16Speaker 1: day that he did that. I thought this weekend, I thought,
- 20:22Speaker 1: you know what Mark is gonna like this circuit because
- 20:25Speaker 1: I kept hearing Matt Bert say on the commentary or
- 20:27Speaker 1: this is like Michello. It's similar to Michello. It's the
- 20:30Speaker 1: Czech Michello. And then you could see it during the
- 20:33Speaker 1: Grand Prix, whereas like and the sprints as well, turn
- 20:36Speaker 1: three was his passing opportunity and he would turn three,
- 20:39Speaker 1: turn three. It's just it's Mark Marquez coded. It's funny
- 20:42Speaker 1: because it is not a Saxon ring and it's not
- 20:44Speaker 1: a coder, but all of a sudden, it's like, well,
- 20:47Speaker 1: this is a Mark Marquez track once again.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Well, and this is the impressive thing with him this
- 20:51Speaker 2: year because he's done well at the tracks that we
- 20:53Speaker 2: expect him to do well, like when he went and
- 20:54Speaker 2: dominated Saxon Ring. Everyone kind of just shrugged their shoulders
- 20:57Speaker 2: and went sure, because that's what he does. The most
- 21:00Speaker 2: impressive part about his entire seat was two things.
- 21:02Speaker 3: For me.
- 21:03Speaker 2: I thought that it would be super close with him
- 21:05Speaker 2: and Banyaya for the entire year because Pecko's the incumbent.
- 21:08Speaker 2: He's been in that team for so long, you know,
- 21:10Speaker 2: Pecko's in the last four years, Pecko's won two world
- 21:13Speaker 2: championships and very narrowly lost to like Gould have one
- 21:16Speaker 2: four World championships in a row. The fact that Mark's
- 21:18Speaker 2: come into that team and dominated Peco in Peco's backyard
- 21:21Speaker 2: is one thing. But there's this, there's just this difference
- 21:25Speaker 2: with Mark now in that I think he he's riding
- 21:30Speaker 2: much more intelligent and not that he rode unintelligently before,
- 21:34Speaker 2: but like an underrated thing with him is that why
- 21:36Speaker 2: does he never seem to get into tire trouble? Right,
- 21:39Speaker 2: He's always the guy that manages his tires better. He's
- 21:42Speaker 2: become so much more of a complete writer. I mean,
- 21:45Speaker 2: Matt Bert said it to us a few weeks ago.
- 21:47Speaker 2: This is the best version of him we've ever seen.
- 21:49Speaker 2: And I do wonder that had he not gone through
- 21:53Speaker 2: what he'd gone through since twenty twenty, as you were saying,
- 21:55Speaker 2: I wonder if we'd we would see that version. I
- 21:58Speaker 2: wonder if that version would have existed, all have come out.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Maybe it took him the trials and tribulations of that
- 22:05Speaker 2: five year period for him to find something new within
- 22:08Speaker 2: himself to be able to become the writer he now is.
- 22:11Speaker 2: But you know what's super interesting to me is that
- 22:15Speaker 2: I love priding myself as being an amateur reader of
- 22:17Speaker 2: body language. I'm like sort of a body language doctor
- 22:19Speaker 2: in my spare time. I should get a degree for
- 22:21Speaker 2: this or something. I love the fact that publicly he's trying,
- 22:25Speaker 2: he's not keeping a lid on it, but he's not
- 22:27Speaker 2: going absolutely crazy when he wins these races like he's
- 22:30Speaker 2: very you know, this could happen to me.
- 22:32Speaker 3: This could happen to me like this.
- 22:34Speaker 2: You know, the sky's always fall again, because when you've
- 22:36Speaker 2: had an accident like he has and it changed the
- 22:37Speaker 2: course of his career, He's not going to properly celebrate
- 22:40Speaker 2: this until it's done. And I think when it is done,
- 22:45Speaker 2: which is something I have crunched some numbers on that
- 22:47Speaker 2: I want to share with you. When it is done,
- 22:49Speaker 2: I think we're going to see this really rare occurrence
- 22:51Speaker 2: of Mark really letting his guard down in that he's
- 22:54Speaker 2: all of those sort of repressed feelings and emotions and
- 22:58Speaker 2: everything that's driven him and he's held in for the
- 23:00Speaker 2: last five years. When it's done and you can't take
- 23:03Speaker 2: this title away from him, the one that he's wanted
- 23:05Speaker 2: for the last five years, I think it's going to
- 23:06Speaker 2: be really revealing. I think he'll let his guard down
- 23:09Speaker 2: and I can't personally wait to see that because it
- 23:13Speaker 2: shows that more human side and the development of him
- 23:16Speaker 2: as a person necessarily not just as a racer. He's
- 23:19Speaker 2: so keeping a lid on it because in the aftermath
- 23:22Speaker 2: of Bruno, when Alex Marquez scores no points for the
- 23:24Speaker 2: first time all year, all of a sudden, that championship
- 23:27Speaker 2: lead is you know, you can start doing that. When
- 23:30Speaker 2: is he going to wrap this up conversation? Because it
- 23:32Speaker 2: is real now those championship lead is so much, But
- 23:35Speaker 2: even he's still holding himself back and maybe sort of
- 23:39Speaker 2: repressing how he really feels inside because he doesn't want
- 23:42Speaker 2: to sort of go too.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Early with that.
- 23:43Speaker 2: And one of my favorite little marxisms in his Spanish English,
- 23:47Speaker 2: he says he uses the word injure when he means injuries,
- 23:52Speaker 2: and when he was asked what might stop him from
- 23:54Speaker 2: winning the championship, he said he could be injure. In
- 23:57Speaker 2: other words, he could be he could have injuries. One
- 24:00Speaker 2: of Mark's little set of quirks that he has with
- 24:01Speaker 2: his Spanish English that I love that, but it's still
- 24:03Speaker 2: in the back of his mind that every time he
- 24:06Speaker 2: stands in front of a mirror, his whole upper body
- 24:09Speaker 2: is marked with scars and signs of all the surgeries
- 24:12Speaker 2: that he's had. He doesn't need too much reminding us
- 24:16Speaker 2: what can go wrong. He sees it every single day, right,
- 24:18Speaker 2: and that's God, and that's got to be in the
- 24:20Speaker 2: back of his mind. So it's not going to be
- 24:22Speaker 2: over until it's over. But the question for me now is,
- 24:26Speaker 2: I don't know whether you've looked too far ahead in
- 24:27Speaker 2: the calendar. You know, there's actually a strong chance that
- 24:31Speaker 2: he could win the championship before we head to Asia.
- 24:35Speaker 2: That's actually really in play now. Although the more likely outcome,
- 24:39Speaker 2: I think, and this would be very on brand for Marquez,
- 24:42Speaker 2: he probably win it in Japan, because whereas he won
- 24:44Speaker 2: most of his he seems to win all of his
- 24:45Speaker 2: world championships in Japan. It always seems to happen there.
- 24:48Speaker 2: But this thing could be over in the best part
- 24:50Speaker 2: of ten rounds to go. This thing could be over
- 24:53Speaker 2: five rounds from the end of the season, I think,
- 24:56Speaker 2: which is wild.
- 24:57Speaker 1: And I was actually going to ask, you know, when
- 24:58Speaker 1: do you think Mark is the going to win the championship?
- 25:01Speaker 1: Because it's inevitable. But yeah, looking at that, I've heard
- 25:04Speaker 1: other people say similar. I originally thought, oh, probably Indonesia.
- 25:09Speaker 1: You know it's not long before Philip Iiland. Then there's
- 25:11Speaker 1: only a few to go after that. But Matt, I
- 25:14Speaker 1: know you're the stats man, so I know you're gonna
- 25:16Speaker 1: pump out some numbers. So what's he going to take
- 25:19Speaker 1: for Mark to win it? Before they head to the flyways?
- 25:22Speaker 2: Let me just consult the document that I have very
- 25:24Speaker 2: sneakily named Marquez points lead needed to win title Niga.
- 25:28Speaker 2: So in case you're wondering, no mystery there, So here's
- 25:32Speaker 2: this is interesting for you, right, So he wouldn't need
- 25:34Speaker 2: to be two hundred and twelve points ahead to win
- 25:37Speaker 2: the title at Massano. He's one hundred and twenty at
- 25:40Speaker 2: the moment. He needs to be one hundred and eighty
- 25:42Speaker 2: five points ahead to win it after Japan. That sounds
- 25:45Speaker 2: like a lot of points, right. Here's here's the key
- 25:48Speaker 2: stat for me. In the past three rounds so Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands,
- 25:53Speaker 2: he's outscored Alex Marquez by eighty points in those three
- 25:57Speaker 2: rounds eighty eight zero points. The previous three round he
- 26:00Speaker 2: only outscored Alex by eighteen points because Alex was constantly
- 26:03Speaker 2: finishing second or third. Alex has been remarkably consistent all year.
- 26:08Speaker 2: That's been the hallmark of him staying in this for
- 26:10Speaker 2: so long. But we saw what happened to Alex. He
- 26:12Speaker 2: had the crash with a Costa at Asen, and he
- 26:15Speaker 2: had the double non score this weekend, terrible start in
- 26:17Speaker 2: the sprint, seventeenth across the line, had the early accident
- 26:20Speaker 2: with juardmir in the race at Bruno, so he scored
- 26:22Speaker 2: no points. Mark has won perfect Sprint Grand Prix double
- 26:27Speaker 2: in the past five rounds. He hasn't dropped the point
- 26:29Speaker 2: since Silverston. Basically, that's how long this run has been going.
- 26:32Speaker 2: All it takes is for Alex to get a little
- 26:35Speaker 2: wobbly like he has in the last couple of rounds
- 26:37Speaker 2: or more likely For me, it feels like a twenty
- 26:41Speaker 2: twenty five Apulia is now a match for a twenty
- 26:43Speaker 2: twenty four Ducady. At certain tracks, a twenty twenty five
- 26:47Speaker 2: KTM is going to be a match for a twenty
- 26:48Speaker 2: twenty four Ducati. So instead of Alex is doing a
- 26:51Speaker 2: really good job and finishing second and a distant second
- 26:53Speaker 2: behind Mark, there's going to be a Bazeki, or there's
- 26:56Speaker 2: now going to be a Joge Martin because he's now back,
- 26:58Speaker 2: or you're going to have Petro Acosta there. There's going
- 27:00Speaker 2: to be other interlopers that could potentially get in the
- 27:03Speaker 2: way of Alex just banking these points, and that just
- 27:06Speaker 2: accentuates Mark's gap even more so. In a roundabout answer
- 27:10Speaker 2: to your question, mathematically, I could see him winning it
- 27:12Speaker 2: at Messano, which winning in Rossi's backyard.
- 27:15Speaker 3: That'd be funny, wouldn't that go down? Will?
- 27:18Speaker 2: More realistically, I think he wins it in Japan, and
- 27:21Speaker 2: almost certainly by the time everyone gets to Phillip Island,
- 27:24Speaker 2: I think he will be a seven time Motor GP champion.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Can you imagine? Can you? Oh? That would be wild
- 27:34Speaker 1: and god, I'd love to be a Flanel.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Well, they're just about rubbing his nose at my goodness.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, wow. Okay, well, okay, there's there's the stats there,
- 27:45Speaker 1: and there's something to kind of grow by. So you
- 27:47Speaker 1: said two hundred and twelve points, he'd needs to be
- 27:49Speaker 1: a head at Mazano to take the crown, one hundred
- 27:52Speaker 1: and eighty five ahead at Japan. Okay, So you mentioned
- 27:57Speaker 1: Alex Marquez a few times there, and I really want
- 27:59Speaker 1: to to bring this up because Alex Marquez Juan Mia
- 28:03Speaker 1: another collision. That was the drama that I was talking
- 28:06Speaker 1: about in the intro. But let me say this, how
- 28:10Speaker 1: much bad luck does one guy mean to get in
- 28:14Speaker 1: a season? You think? Okay, Juan Miyer, we know he's
- 28:17Speaker 1: the DNF and the crashed out king, but half of
- 28:20Speaker 1: this or majority of it is not even his fault.
- 28:23Speaker 1: He's not the one crashing out. He's being taken out, right.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I've always been so many of these which you are
- 28:29Speaker 2: mea this year that I've almost forgotten which ones were
- 28:32Speaker 2: which year and which ones were his fault. And the
- 28:34Speaker 2: common thing with a lot more of these recent ones
- 28:36Speaker 2: is that not many of them are his fault anymore.
- 28:40Speaker 1: No, no, And like we saw this, what happened, and
- 28:43Speaker 1: we saw Alex being handed along lap penalty after by
- 28:46Speaker 1: the stewards, which, okay, you could tell I heard that
- 28:50Speaker 1: Alex wasn't even looking or it wasn't trying to overtake.
- 28:53Speaker 1: He was looking in air quotes to try and overtake.
- 28:56Speaker 1: But apparently Duan said no, you know, he'd been getting
- 28:59Speaker 1: close and what not. But for me, it was the
- 29:03Speaker 1: fact that the broadcast was showing them for like a
- 29:06Speaker 1: solid amount of time. You could see that Juan he
- 29:09Speaker 1: was very, very heated, as he deserves to be because
- 29:12Speaker 1: he's constantly being taken out, and Alex was like a
- 29:17Speaker 1: little bit apologetically. Just the fact that Juan just kept
- 29:19Speaker 1: going and going and going. He wanted to make it
- 29:22Speaker 1: clear that that was not his fault.
- 29:24Speaker 3: It was so funny.
- 29:25Speaker 2: It was one of those conversations where I reckon that
- 29:27Speaker 2: Juan mid ninety five percent of the talking and Alex
- 29:30Speaker 2: is trying to walk away, and Mia is just walking
- 29:32Speaker 2: around in front of him, looking through that little hole
- 29:34Speaker 2: between the uplift advisor and the bottom of his help
- 29:37Speaker 2: but trying to make eye contact with him to make
- 29:38Speaker 2: his point.
- 29:39Speaker 3: He wasn't making a different point, he was making the
- 29:41Speaker 3: same point.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Because he is so utterly sick of you know, seven
- 29:44Speaker 2: days previously he got timpin bowling style by Ayagura in Germany.
- 29:49Speaker 2: You remember at the start of the French Grand Prix
- 29:51Speaker 2: when in Aabastian and he crashed in the wet took
- 29:55Speaker 2: out Banyaya and then Mia managed to crash in avoidance,
- 29:57Speaker 2: and the person that missed that crash by about recentimeters
- 30:00Speaker 2: was Joan Zako, who won the race about forty five
- 30:04Speaker 2: minutes later. So I don't know what it is with Jama,
- 30:06Speaker 2: whether he's you know, encountered a black cat or walk
- 30:08Speaker 2: under a ladder or broken a mirror or done all three.
- 30:11Speaker 3: At the same time.
- 30:11Speaker 2: But the guy is so unbelievably unlucky. And I'm sure
- 30:16Speaker 2: you're probably going to go into that number that I
- 30:18Speaker 2: threw at you yesterday because we were talking about this
- 30:20Speaker 2: offline and was like, how many DNFs does you and
- 30:24Speaker 2: me have? I don't know whether you've got it handy.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I can go through it if you like.
- 30:26Speaker 1: But yeah, come you're the stats man. So yes, I
- 30:30Speaker 1: did ask Matt because I wanted to do a post
- 30:32Speaker 1: for the Fox Motorsports Socials just to say basically why
- 30:37Speaker 1: this guy should be handed the crown now for DNFs
- 30:39Speaker 1: this season, so come on, Matt. Okay.
- 30:42Speaker 2: So there's a maximum of twenty four starts this year,
- 30:46Speaker 2: so we've had twelve rounds. Me is only done twenty
- 30:48Speaker 2: three because he missed a CATA sprint because he had
- 30:50Speaker 2: gastro in the desert. That would have been heaps of
- 30:52Speaker 2: fun this year. On the DNF table, he has eleven DNFs,
- 30:56Speaker 2: so he's only finished one more race that he's actually
- 30:59Speaker 2: dnf'd in twelve finishes eleven DNFs. The next most DNFs
- 31:03Speaker 2: on my list here is Bradbinder with seven, so he's
- 31:06Speaker 2: basically got almost fifty percent, again more than the next worst.
- 31:10Speaker 2: But I reckon minimum fifty sixty percent of these aren't
- 31:13Speaker 2: his fault. Yes, he will crash and overreach, as we know.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I do admire the fact that he's not prepared to
- 31:19Speaker 2: sort of be patient and that he's going to rag
- 31:21Speaker 2: this thing to the end of its life and try
- 31:22Speaker 2: and see what he can.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Get out of it.
- 31:24Speaker 2: But man, can this guy just have some good luck?
- 31:26Speaker 2: And this was the thing right He qualified fifth at
- 31:29Speaker 2: Bruno on a Honda, which was an awesome performance at
- 31:33Speaker 2: a track that no one's been for a really long time.
- 31:35Speaker 2: He's best qualifying nearly two years, so he was right
- 31:38Speaker 2: in the position to do something good about it and
- 31:41Speaker 2: still managed to score no points because he got caught
- 31:44Speaker 2: up in other people's accidents.
- 31:45Speaker 3: He's just the unluckiest guy.
- 31:47Speaker 2: I murder GP and you do hope for his sake
- 31:49Speaker 2: that one day, all of these terrible events is payback
- 31:54Speaker 2: for him, and that he somehow sails through and finishes
- 31:56Speaker 2: second at a race or something or other, because I
- 31:58Speaker 2: don't think there'd be too many people that would be
- 32:00Speaker 2: supported for him, because the guy has just had the
- 32:02Speaker 2: worst possible luck for a very very.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Long time, and the fact that he technically is a
- 32:07Speaker 1: world chammian as well from twenty twenty and then you're
- 32:09Speaker 1: seeing this now just crazy, but you just said like
- 32:12Speaker 1: the unluckiest rider. It also made me think of Takannakagami,
- 32:15Speaker 1: who filled in this for the injured Yes, who then
- 32:19Speaker 1: got taken out during Saturday's sprint, and then he's injured
- 32:23Speaker 1: his knee. I believe it was the ligament or something
- 32:26Speaker 1: in his knee. So filling in for an injured writer
- 32:29Speaker 1: gets stickn out in Saturday's sprint, and now he's injured
- 32:32Speaker 1: so who's the next person to fill in Alisha Spiro Honda.
- 32:36Speaker 2: That LCR Honda second seat needs. It needs like an
- 32:39Speaker 2: exorcism or something. It's been pretty cursed as far as
- 32:42Speaker 2: this year has gone, because people have been injured when
- 32:44Speaker 2: they've been riding the bike, and it's so Chantra's bike
- 32:47Speaker 2: and he's only managed to score one point in the
- 32:49Speaker 2: first half of the season anyway, so it's Lucio might
- 32:52Speaker 2: want to ride it himself. At this rate, there's not
- 32:54Speaker 2: many too many other options that are going around.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Lucio couldn't do worse. I'ld say that he couldn't do worse.
- 32:59Speaker 1: But let's go from unlucky to finally being back on
- 33:03Speaker 1: the bike and having I would call a pretty successful weekend.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Jorge Martin, Now we're actually talking about him being on
- 33:11Speaker 1: track and for the first time in what feels like
- 33:13Speaker 1: a few months, we're not going to talk too much
- 33:15Speaker 1: about all his contract drama because Matt, you wrote a
- 33:18Speaker 1: really cool article on Fox sports dot Com to au
- 33:20Speaker 1: F Slash Motorsport from Jojey Martin and his pre race
- 33:24Speaker 1: press conference where you sent me a message. Go and
- 33:27Speaker 1: watch it, and guys, if you're listening to this and
- 33:28Speaker 1: you can haven't watched it, go and watch it because
- 33:31Speaker 1: to see Jogey Martin skirting around the fact of him
- 33:36Speaker 1: admitting that he made a mistake in causing all that drama,
- 33:40Speaker 1: and you know, Massima Rivala basically welcoming him back and
- 33:44Speaker 1: not getting blown well out of proportion compared to what
- 33:48Speaker 1: it could have. I thought that was just just fascinating
- 33:51Speaker 1: to read. But Matt, I wanted to talk to you.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Obviously P seven on Sunday in the Grand Prix like phenomenal.
- 33:59Speaker 1: But the seing that that stuck out for me in
- 34:02Speaker 1: the midst of everything was Jjey saying about Mark Muckers
- 34:06Speaker 1: texting him, don't make a decision when you're down, and
- 34:11Speaker 1: I feel like that was Jorgey kind of going, I've
- 34:14Speaker 1: made a mistake here. I admit it, but I'm gonna
- 34:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna utilize this and not say I'm sorry. But
- 34:21Speaker 1: then we hear that, you know, hey, got sat down
- 34:24Speaker 1: for this team and he's like, I'm all in, like
- 34:26Speaker 1: let's do this, let's do this. And then to come
- 34:28Speaker 1: out on Sunday at P seven, your first race back
- 34:31Speaker 1: on a new manufacturer, you've been out for nine months
- 34:34Speaker 1: injureds what a weekend.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Yeah, huge props to him and to the team for
- 34:40Speaker 2: two reasons. I mean, he sat there and did a
- 34:42Speaker 2: twenty five minute press conference on the Thursday of the
- 34:45Speaker 2: Bruno weekend, remembering not in his native language as well,
- 34:48Speaker 2: which is a barrier that you know a lot of
- 34:50Speaker 2: us can't even get our heads around. And he stood there,
- 34:54Speaker 2: sat on a stool on that stage by himself for
- 34:56Speaker 2: twenty five minutes and had all of the awkward conversations
- 34:59Speaker 2: that you would never want to have. He didn't duck
- 35:01Speaker 2: any questions, He was very open, He was pretty emotional
- 35:05Speaker 2: at certain points. There are a couple of points in
- 35:07Speaker 2: that press conference where he really had to sort of
- 35:09Speaker 2: stop and compose himself as a performance goes. These guys
- 35:13Speaker 2: are performance athletes because of what they do on the
- 35:14Speaker 2: bike in terms of handling a really really difficult situation. Yes,
- 35:18Speaker 2: a situation that he put himself in, but nonetheless to
- 35:21Speaker 2: handle that situation the way he did was hugely, hugely impressive.
- 35:26Speaker 2: No matter how much coaching you've had but done beforehand.
- 35:28Speaker 2: That was really really well done.
- 35:31Speaker 3: On track.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Perfect weekend in that he played himself in. He did
- 35:35Speaker 2: some long tire running, he rode in the wet on
- 35:37Speaker 2: that bike for the first time, he managed to tick
- 35:38Speaker 2: a lot of boxers. Most importantly, he didn't hurt himself,
- 35:42Speaker 2: which is the absolute best outcome of the entire weekend.
- 35:45Speaker 2: And he can look at that and say, well, look,
- 35:47Speaker 2: you know, I'm half cooked or whatever it is here.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Marco Poseki finished second in that Grand Prix, so it
- 35:52Speaker 2: shows you there's more performance in that bike. And you know,
- 35:55Speaker 2: a fully fit Jorgey Martine versus a fully fit Marco Perzki,
- 35:59Speaker 2: we kind of know where the balance power lies there,
- 36:00Speaker 2: so that's something for him to aim towards. But I've
- 36:03Speaker 2: got to say the way Aprillia has handled this in
- 36:06Speaker 2: that they've stuck to their messaging from day one with this.
- 36:10Speaker 2: You could have excused them for taking like a real
- 36:14Speaker 2: victory lap here in terms of everything we said has
- 36:17Speaker 2: come true, told you so, like puff your chest out
- 36:19Speaker 2: and so to have a.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Bit of a swagger around.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I thought the way they put their arms around Martin
- 36:25Speaker 2: off the track and the way they greeted him in
- 36:27Speaker 2: the box after the qualifying and the sprint and even
- 36:29Speaker 2: after Friday practice when he managed to get himself into
- 36:31Speaker 2: Q two. If your johe Martin, and you've been at
- 36:34Speaker 2: this really low air mentally because you've been hindered and
- 36:37Speaker 2: then you were agitating for change while you were injured
- 36:41Speaker 2: and frustrated that you weren't on the bike. That's got
- 36:43Speaker 2: to mean something. And I think if your Martine and
- 36:46Speaker 2: you have a decent strong end of the season, you
- 36:48Speaker 2: can compete with some podiums here and there. You see
- 36:51Speaker 2: that the bike is the best thing that's not a
- 36:53Speaker 2: du caddie on the murdor GP grid. There's a non
- 36:56Speaker 2: zero chance that he stays there if the going is good, necessarily,
- 37:00Speaker 2: But I just don't think that Aprilia could have handled
- 37:03Speaker 2: that better in terms of you're our star rider, You're
- 37:06Speaker 2: our big asset. We moved heaven and earth.
- 37:08Speaker 3: To get you.
- 37:09Speaker 2: We really want you here no matter what happened. Let's
- 37:13Speaker 2: the ward, the water's gone under the bridge. Now let's
- 37:15Speaker 2: start from zero and let's build here. I thought both
- 37:18Speaker 2: parties came out of the weekend with a lot of
- 37:20Speaker 2: positivity and add to the fact that you know, Bazeki
- 37:23Speaker 2: for the last what four rounds now has been genuinely
- 37:27Speaker 2: up there most of the time. You know, we saw
- 37:29Speaker 2: what happened to asen he's been really really impressive as
- 37:32Speaker 2: he's got to grips now with that bike. He's coming
- 37:34Speaker 2: on really really strongly at the moment, and if you
- 37:37Speaker 2: take all of the decade runners out of the equation,
- 37:39Speaker 2: like he's just about being the most impressive guy over
- 37:41Speaker 2: the last probably four to five races. That boats really
- 37:44Speaker 2: well for Martine because you know, once he has this
- 37:48Speaker 2: big break now gets himself more physically ready by the
- 37:50Speaker 2: time we get to the flyways and there's a few
- 37:52Speaker 2: tracks on the Flyways that he really goes well at,
- 37:54Speaker 2: particularly Australia.
- 37:55Speaker 3: To be honest, he's going to be.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Pretty formidable because that bike is clearly quite good and
- 38:01Speaker 2: he's good enough that he might be able to take
- 38:03Speaker 2: it over the top. So do I think Aprili is
- 38:05Speaker 2: going to win a Grand Prix before the end of
- 38:06Speaker 2: the year.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I do.
- 38:07Speaker 2: I think they're going to win another one or two
- 38:09Speaker 2: before the end of the season. And you know, Martin's
- 38:12Speaker 2: been amazing at Philip Ireland for the past few years,
- 38:15Speaker 2: like probably the quickest guy, just not the guy who's
- 38:17Speaker 2: what the Grand Prix because of what have Woode Jones
- 38:19Speaker 2: Zarco in the Saturday race a couple of years ago,
- 38:21Speaker 2: and he had Marke to deal with last year on
- 38:23Speaker 2: the Grassini Decaddy. But if you were ever going to
- 38:26Speaker 2: put down a race, all, hey, Martin might win for
- 38:28Speaker 2: the rest of the year. I reckon Philip Island's fairly
- 38:29Speaker 2: high on the list.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I think you can add to your talents not only
- 38:33Speaker 1: body language reading but mind reading. Because that was what
- 38:35Speaker 1: I was going to ask you, what do you think
- 38:38Speaker 1: Joy Martin can win a race this year? But you
- 38:41Speaker 1: answered that straight away, you know, when you were talking
- 38:43Speaker 1: about Marco but Zechi there as well and saying you
- 38:45Speaker 1: know how good he is. It also made me think
- 38:47Speaker 1: Raul Fernandez this weekend, Oh yeah, it seems like he's
- 38:51Speaker 1: made a set. But then I've also heard that he
- 38:53Speaker 1: was like no, no, I mentally was there. It was just
- 38:56Speaker 1: working to get into this position. Was he the first
- 39:00Speaker 1: satellite team satellite writer to across the line? Phenomenal weekend?
- 39:06Speaker 1: But was this just because it was in a Prillier
- 39:10Speaker 1: suited circuit.
- 39:12Speaker 3: A little bit?
- 39:12Speaker 2: I mean, he's the overnight sensation that took four years
- 39:16Speaker 2: to come to fruition. It's funny is that came off
- 39:19Speaker 2: one of the great Moto two seasons and we've been
- 39:21Speaker 2: waiting for him to do anything in Motor TP Basically
- 39:24Speaker 2: since then last few rounds he's actually been really good,
- 39:26Speaker 2: and I think part of that is, Yeah, the Aprillia
- 39:28Speaker 2: is clearly I reckon. The Apprilli has made the biggest
- 39:31Speaker 2: step over the last probably six races relative to all
- 39:33Speaker 2: the other bikes, even the Ducati. Necessarily, I think Aprilli
- 39:36Speaker 2: has been extremely good. Isn't it so so much psychological
- 39:43Speaker 2: percentage of a rider's output is psychological in this game,
- 39:45Speaker 2: right he feels that the factory is listening to him,
- 39:49Speaker 2: and they're taking care of him, and they value him
- 39:51Speaker 2: as an asset, and certain guys just need certain things
- 39:54Speaker 2: to stimulate them or give them confidence, or to make
- 39:56Speaker 2: them feel wanted. He feels like a valuable writer in
- 39:59Speaker 2: that project right now. And isn't it funny how the
- 40:01Speaker 2: narratives changed with that particular team, because at.
- 40:03Speaker 3: The start of the year you were there in Thailand.
- 40:05Speaker 3: It's like, man I.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Agura, this kid's aren't beelievable as a kid, he's a
- 40:08Speaker 2: twenty five year old. This Motor two champion guy's unbelievable.
- 40:11Speaker 2: How bad is Fernandez? He's been there for three years,
- 40:13Speaker 2: He's getting shown up by rookie. That thing has totally
- 40:17Speaker 2: flipped around. In the last probably four or five rounds,
- 40:19Speaker 2: A goura has really gone off the boil, and he's
- 40:20Speaker 2: also been injured. This is the best Ralph Fernandez we've
- 40:23Speaker 2: ever seen, and you know, I think I'm right to
- 40:26Speaker 2: be skeptical that I'd like to see it for a
- 40:28Speaker 2: bit longer because I don't one hundred percent trust it yet,
- 40:30Speaker 2: because it might just be a good run of a
- 40:31Speaker 2: few races. But what he did on the weekend, like
- 40:34Speaker 2: you saw him just outside the top five, hovering around
- 40:37Speaker 2: six seventh through the entire weekend. At no point did
- 40:40Speaker 2: I look at the timing tower and go, well, that
- 40:42Speaker 2: feels like a fluke. I looked at it and thought,
- 40:44Speaker 2: that feels legit. That feels absolutely where he should be.
- 40:47Speaker 2: He didn't owe to any great attrition or anything else.
- 40:50Speaker 2: He was just really really good. Not in a podium
- 40:53Speaker 2: position good, but certainly better than a lot of other
- 40:56Speaker 2: guys on better machinery. He was very very good this weekend.
- 40:59Speaker 2: And that's about three weekends in a row now, and
- 41:02Speaker 2: I've been on record for a while saying that I
- 41:04Speaker 2: think he's just overmatched as a MotoGP rider and probably
- 41:06Speaker 2: is He's had his chance and probably needs to be
- 41:09Speaker 2: moved on. But at the moment there's a nice slice
- 41:12Speaker 2: of humble pie waiting for him. Me if he keeps
- 41:14Speaker 2: doing this, and I shall gladly eat it if that's
- 41:17Speaker 2: what it comes down to.
- 41:18Speaker 1: And I can just see Brivio sitting back there being
- 41:21Speaker 1: like I told you guys, so, I told you so.
- 41:23Speaker 1: None of you listen to me.
- 41:24Speaker 3: He's the master at this though, is he? We shouldn't.
- 41:26Speaker 2: If there's any rule in motor GP, we should learn
- 41:28Speaker 2: don't doubt Daviadeo Brivio because he has the touch with
- 41:31Speaker 2: these guys that you think back to Vignalees and Rins
- 41:34Speaker 2: before he got injured and Chuan Mira. You know, no
- 41:37Speaker 2: one when when Juanma came into motor GP. I don't
- 41:39Speaker 2: think anyone was saying, oh, yeah, that guy's.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Gonna be a world champion.
- 41:42Speaker 2: He's so good at spotting these guys. He's probably the
- 41:45Speaker 2: best in the business at doing it. So if Davadao
- 41:47Speaker 2: Brivio says that you're good at something, we probably should
- 41:49Speaker 2: just nod our heads and say, yes, okay, David Day,
- 41:51Speaker 2: we believe you.
- 41:52Speaker 3: So maybe that's the lesson in all of this.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Maybe it is. But before we wrap up Motorgib, because
- 41:59Speaker 1: there has been so much to talk about these guys
- 42:01Speaker 1: this weekend, I want to bring up Pedro Acosta double
- 42:04Speaker 1: podiums for KTM and I think I messaged you yesterday,
- 42:09Speaker 1: Matt going, when was the last time that Pedro was
- 42:12Speaker 1: on the podium on a Sunday? Thailand twenty twenty four. Yeah, Thailand,
- 42:18Speaker 1: it was two hundred and sixty something days since he
- 42:21Speaker 1: was on a podium on a Sunday. But my question
- 42:25Speaker 1: to you, is this Pedro Acosta back or is this
- 42:30Speaker 1: because Bruno's circuit haven't been there in five years? Everyone
- 42:35Speaker 1: was on an even playing field. Circuit's been resurfaced, which
- 42:38Speaker 1: made me think less chatter for the KTMS, which I
- 42:41Speaker 1: think is why we saw an Abashanini up the front
- 42:44Speaker 1: Pedro Costa. You know, like, is Pedro back or was
- 42:48Speaker 1: just situations aligning? The stars were kind of almost in
- 42:51Speaker 1: that perfect line for him.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I reckon, if I'm going to split this percentage,
- 42:54Speaker 2: wasn't going to go forty sixty. I was gonna say
- 42:57Speaker 2: thirty seven sixty three just to be stupid, But I
- 43:00Speaker 2: was say forty sixty Pedro was better. Clearly look at
- 43:03Speaker 2: what the other ktms were doing. Seeing an AA Bastianini
- 43:06Speaker 2: fighting for something meaningful is like, where have you been
- 43:08Speaker 2: all season? Because we've not seen that. And the other
- 43:11Speaker 2: one for me, Paul Spargo, who's in there as an
- 43:13Speaker 2: injury replacement for Maverick Vinales and he's finishing in the
- 43:16Speaker 2: top ten in the Grand Prix and he hadn't ridden
- 43:18Speaker 2: since Migello last year. And Pole's very good. Pole's a
- 43:22Speaker 2: very very good Grand Prix rider when he was in
- 43:24Speaker 2: his heyday. But it's a sure sign how good that
- 43:26Speaker 2: bike is when you can get a guy who's not
- 43:28Speaker 2: raced all year and then he's up there in the
- 43:30Speaker 2: top ten. He was incredibly impressive and without sort of
- 43:35Speaker 2: dissing Pole and how good he is. If you can
- 43:37Speaker 2: come in effectively off the bench with a week's notice
- 43:40Speaker 2: to replace an injured rider in Maverick Vinales, it shows
- 43:43Speaker 2: you that the combination of that bike and that circuit
- 43:45Speaker 2: married really well over the course of the weekend. So yeah,
- 43:48Speaker 2: A Costa was better, but I think KTM as a
- 43:50Speaker 2: whole was better. And the thing I kept thinking about
- 43:53Speaker 2: when I saw a spargo randomly is that Vinales has
- 43:56Speaker 2: been the best. He's not scored the most points, but
- 43:59Speaker 2: I think he's been the best KTM rider of the
- 44:01Speaker 2: four for the entire season, and we know that Maverick
- 44:04Speaker 2: has those weekends where he can be pretty awesome. I thought,
- 44:07Speaker 2: man a fully fit Vignales on a really good KTM
- 44:11Speaker 2: at a circuit that seems to suit it to my mind.
- 44:13Speaker 2: He's probably sniffing around the same sort of area that
- 44:16Speaker 2: a Costa is, and maybe even better. So yeah, look,
- 44:19Speaker 2: a Costa was clearly better. We needed him to get
- 44:22Speaker 2: back on a podium because it had been, like you said,
- 44:23Speaker 2: two hundred and sixty something days and we'd almost forgotten
- 44:25Speaker 2: what it was like to see him up there. But
- 44:27Speaker 2: I think KTM on the whole was much better, and
- 44:30Speaker 2: you know, they showed up a couple of the deucaddies.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Whether it's circuit specific one off or not, we don't know.
- 44:36Speaker 2: But of course the next round, once we eventually get
- 44:38Speaker 2: back after the break, is Austria, right, So if ever
- 44:41Speaker 2: a Red Bull backed KTM team needed a good result,
- 44:44Speaker 2: it's probably at the circuit that underwrites the entire show
- 44:47Speaker 2: for the weekend.
- 44:47Speaker 3: So let's see if that one lasts.
- 44:50Speaker 2: But yeah, certainly good signs for them.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Well, I was reading articles in the build up to
- 44:55Speaker 1: the Grand Prix even after of Peguacosta's saying about how
- 44:59Speaker 1: he it's been feeling like fire was his words, and
- 45:03Speaker 1: I guess that's translating is the anger possibly or just
- 45:07Speaker 1: the frustration that he's been dealing with at KTM. But
- 45:11Speaker 1: how he goes this podium, this double podium as well,
- 45:14Speaker 1: and how beneficial and important that was. But that's one
- 45:17Speaker 1: thing that you just said that Pedro mentioned. He goes crucially.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Our next race after some break is the Red Bull Ring.
- 45:23Speaker 1: It's our home Grand Prix, right, we need to be
- 45:27Speaker 1: strong there and I think that confidence coming through from
- 45:30Speaker 1: this weekend to there is going to be so beneficial.
- 45:33Speaker 1: But talking about Paula Spargaru, he beat Brad Binder and
- 45:36Speaker 1: Brad Binda was the winner here back in twenty twenty,
- 45:40Speaker 1: So what is this saying about Brad and his year
- 45:42Speaker 1: that he's having with the KATM.
- 45:44Speaker 2: He's lok being maybe other than Bastian and he probably
- 45:47Speaker 2: the most disappointing guy this year because you look at
- 45:49Speaker 2: the past few years with Binda, he's just he was
- 45:52Speaker 2: always that guy there that would pick up the crumbs
- 45:54Speaker 2: if anyone drop the ball. He's just been like a
- 45:56Speaker 2: permanent top six championship finisher for years now. He is
- 45:59Speaker 2: no we are near that this year. I think he's
- 46:02Speaker 2: something got twelfth in the world championship standings, as I
- 46:04Speaker 2: call up my pdf here on a live podcast, which
- 46:07Speaker 2: is always good, Yes, twelfth, I was a good guess.
- 46:10Speaker 2: So yeah, look, he's just been kind of anonymous the
- 46:13Speaker 2: entire year. And the stat that's really alarming for me
- 46:16Speaker 2: is he hasn't out qualified a cost of once this season,
- 46:19Speaker 2: if you can believe that. And this is a guy
- 46:21Speaker 2: who we know binds not a fantastic qualifier, but he's
- 46:23Speaker 2: a good racer, and neither of those things has happened
- 46:26Speaker 2: for him this year. So he's kind of been a
- 46:27Speaker 2: bit a woll this year. It was interesting on a
- 46:30Speaker 2: weekend where all the other ktms had reason for optimism,
- 46:34Speaker 2: there wasn't a heap to be optimistic about on that
- 46:36Speaker 2: side of the garage. When you think he was going
- 46:38Speaker 2: back to the track where he won his first gron
- 46:40Speaker 2: PRI back in twenty twenty.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Yeah, like it's wild to me. I just couldn't believe it.
- 46:45Speaker 1: But the fact that Paul's barger a top ten. I
- 46:48Speaker 1: was writing that graphic and I did it before the
- 46:51Speaker 1: whole firmin Al Deger penalty. Everything came through, and I'm like,
- 46:55Speaker 1: tenth tenth for Paul, that's crazy. But who actually did
- 46:59Speaker 1: get ten for the end. After we had that, and
- 47:01Speaker 1: I'd gone to bed because by this time it was
- 47:03Speaker 1: like one am, and you know, we got to get
- 47:06Speaker 1: up for a Monday morning to come back to Fox
- 47:07Speaker 1: Sports and work Jack Miller. So thankfully from Furman's penalty
- 47:13Speaker 1: that Jack then was able to scrape through a top
- 47:16Speaker 1: ten finish. But the Yamas they struggled here, huh. Like
- 47:20Speaker 1: in the race qualifying Fabio, he was front from yeah,
- 47:25Speaker 1: and you could see it as they took off, especially
- 47:28Speaker 1: that main race. You see that you caddies. The Aprilia
- 47:31Speaker 1: is just grow straight pass and then he comes off
- 47:34Speaker 1: Fabio on the Yamaha. It's crazy the difference, right, So
- 47:38Speaker 1: over a one lap they're good, but it's it's that
- 47:43Speaker 1: when the new engine comes it's going to be phenomenal.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Hopefully that it works.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, look, it doesn't get off the line
- 47:48Speaker 2: very well. It's the probably the worst bike in Motor
- 47:49Speaker 2: GP in terms of getting off the line and the
- 47:51Speaker 2: biggest problem that bike has.
- 47:53Speaker 3: It's amazing in.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Corners, but it can't it can't outdrag anything on a straight.
- 47:57Speaker 2: And so this is where I feel a little bit
- 47:59Speaker 2: sympathetic to Quaturo this year, in that the pole positions
- 48:02Speaker 2: he's taken this year, I'm not sure there's any other
- 48:05Speaker 2: rider on that bike that could have done those up.
- 48:07Speaker 2: He's phenomenal on one lap with the risk he's able
- 48:10Speaker 2: to take and the positions he puts himself in, but
- 48:13Speaker 2: it makes it look even worse for him, where the
- 48:15Speaker 2: natural order of that bike is probably finishing somewhere between
- 48:17Speaker 2: sixth and tenth on a good day, and you look
- 48:20Speaker 2: at the starting and finishing positions a lot, well, that
- 48:22Speaker 2: looks really bad because he qualified on pole and finished eighth,
- 48:25Speaker 2: but eight is the realistic result. Pole is not the
- 48:28Speaker 2: realistic result. And a little spoiler alert for your spoilm
- 48:31Speaker 2: own story here Wednesday, Australian time. Tomorrow, I'm going to
- 48:35Speaker 2: be releasing my top ten Riders of the Season rankings,
- 48:39Speaker 2: which I do every year, so people can yell at
- 48:42Speaker 2: themselves or yell at me, or yell at somebody. That's
- 48:44Speaker 2: the way these things tend to work, and no spoiler
- 48:47Speaker 2: or alert to know who's going to be the best
- 48:49Speaker 2: rider of the first half of the season. I think
- 48:50Speaker 2: we covered him in the first fifty minutes of this podcast.
- 48:53Speaker 2: But Quatauro is one of those guys that's really really
- 48:56Speaker 2: hard to assess where the best to put him in
- 48:58Speaker 2: these rankings. I don't think his championship position reflects how
- 49:03Speaker 2: good he's been. And you can only judge someone based
- 49:06Speaker 2: on the equipment they have at their disposal, and it's
- 49:08Speaker 2: hard for me to imagine that someone could have done
- 49:11Speaker 2: much more with the equipment that he's had this year.
- 49:13Speaker 2: I think he's reminded us this year why he's a
- 49:16Speaker 2: twenty twenty one world champion and why, to my mind,
- 49:20Speaker 2: I think he's still the second best rider at Motor GP.
- 49:23Speaker 2: I just hope that at some point we get to
- 49:24Speaker 2: see it.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Yeah, this circuit just had no way of showing that.
- 49:29Speaker 1: When there's a part of the circuit called horsepower here, yeah,
- 49:32Speaker 1: good luck with that, and it's a Yamaha like, yeah,
- 49:35Speaker 1: it's not going to happen, But I'm interested to see
- 49:37Speaker 1: your top ten. So if you guys also want to
- 49:40Speaker 1: check out Matt's top ten that'll be on Fox sports
- 49:42Speaker 1: dot Com to aufd slash Emotorsport, and you'll find that
- 49:45Speaker 1: on our social media channels as well. Might even throw
- 49:48Speaker 1: throw my pick in there too, so we'll see how
- 49:51Speaker 1: that goes. See if it's different. I said to Matt, though,
- 49:53Speaker 1: it's probably going to be more on vibes and less
- 49:56Speaker 1: on statistics because that's why we work well with each other.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Vibes plus stats and do you get the right result
- 50:02Speaker 3: of the yeend.
- 50:04Speaker 1: That pretty much sums up though the whole Moto GP
- 50:07Speaker 1: weekend from the Czech Republic. Now, we had a lot
- 50:09Speaker 1: to cover there because, like I said, the writers haven't
- 50:12Speaker 1: been there, Motor GP hasn't been there since twenty twenty.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Let's also go through the Aussies like we do. Moto
- 50:17Speaker 1: two Senate ages, he struggled. I saw in his post
- 50:21Speaker 1: race that he had issues on his bike from lap
- 50:24Speaker 1: one so only managed to cross the line or p
- 50:27Speaker 1: fifteen finished, But hey, another point in the bag, right,
- 50:30Speaker 1: and Senate, it's only his second year. It's still about learning,
- 50:33Speaker 1: still about being consistent, hopefully as he comes back from
- 50:38Speaker 1: some break head back to the Red Bull Ring a
- 50:40Speaker 1: circuit that and he's ridden a lot more than we
- 50:43Speaker 1: know he has done it in the Czech Republic so far.
- 50:46Speaker 1: He's having a strong year, right and we say this
- 50:47Speaker 1: every weekend. He's having a strong year for his second
- 50:49Speaker 1: year in the World Championship.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Yea, yeah, I mean, I think if you were to
- 50:52Speaker 2: look at where he might be based at the start
- 50:55Speaker 2: of the year compared to where he is at the midpoint,
- 50:57Speaker 2: I would say he's ahead of schedule right now. He
- 50:59Speaker 2: won that Grand Prix Silverston, he's been on the podium
- 51:01Speaker 2: in other rounds. He's probably in a better position than
- 51:05Speaker 2: we would have thought he was going to be at
- 51:06Speaker 2: the beginning of this year.
- 51:08Speaker 3: And as long as the.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Arrow keeps going up and we know where it's going
- 51:10Speaker 2: to be next year, he's already resigned for next year,
- 51:12Speaker 2: So look a quieter round in the Czech Republic. There
- 51:16Speaker 2: was circumstance and you could understand why that happened. But
- 51:19Speaker 2: on balance, I think he's first half of the year
- 51:22Speaker 2: it's slightly more than half, isn't as twelve out of
- 51:23Speaker 2: twenty two whatever that is, his first half of the
- 51:26Speaker 2: year's been better than probably we would have thought coming
- 51:29Speaker 2: into it.
- 51:29Speaker 3: So big tick for him, I think, and.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Quite rounds let's say that for our Aussies in Moto three.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Because Joel and Jacob both had massive crashes this weekend.
- 51:40Speaker 1: We know Joel was declared unfit for Sunday's race due
- 51:43Speaker 1: to a fracture in his right foot from Saturday, but
- 51:47Speaker 1: also Jacob he had a massive crash as well. I
- 51:50Speaker 1: just don't think he fully recovered from that. He also
- 51:53Speaker 1: said that he just struggled this weekend, but he crossed
- 51:56Speaker 1: the line in fourteenth, So two points in the bag
- 51:58Speaker 1: for him. Now, Jacob's season so far, we know he
- 52:03Speaker 1: had that crash in the off season that has taken
- 52:05Speaker 1: him a while. But I don't know he's struggling. And
- 52:10Speaker 1: I also know he's got depression now of he hasn't
- 52:12Speaker 1: got that right for next year and we're coming into
- 52:14Speaker 1: the some break right that's going to be weighing on
- 52:17Speaker 1: his shoulders also, Yeah.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Needs I think he needs a break in, a reset,
- 52:21Speaker 2: and he needs probably you know, we talked about those
- 52:24Speaker 2: races before Motor GP heads out of Europe. I think
- 52:26Speaker 2: there's no formal before we head out. Those four need
- 52:30Speaker 2: to be good, don't they, you know, to we need
- 52:32Speaker 2: to there's a new circuit in there of course as well,
- 52:34Speaker 2: with Hungary coming in. But those four races before we
- 52:38Speaker 2: leave Europe and a lot of decisions are made pretty
- 52:41Speaker 2: big four races for him. We know that he's best,
- 52:43Speaker 2: is good enough, we've seen that, but it's been a
- 52:45Speaker 2: real sort of stop start year because of injuries and
- 52:48Speaker 2: some form.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Stuff and a couple of crashes.
- 52:50Speaker 2: But as far as Joel goes, I do wonder how
- 52:53Speaker 2: much of the decision. I mean, obviously it's taken out
- 52:56Speaker 2: of his hands to a degree, and that you've got
- 52:57Speaker 2: to be past fit to race, but the fact that
- 53:00Speaker 2: we've got four weekends until the next Grand Prix, like,
- 53:03Speaker 2: rather than risk it and do something at Bruno when
- 53:06Speaker 2: you're not quite right, he gets that extra time out
- 53:09Speaker 2: and doesn't hurt himself anymore, and he can get himself
- 53:11Speaker 2: right for Austria. Because the thing with this back half
- 53:13Speaker 2: of the season, we describe it as being a back half.
- 53:16Speaker 2: We don't go racing again until the middle of August.
- 53:18Speaker 2: These last ten races are packed into just under three months.
- 53:21Speaker 2: It goes super fast from here because we've got basically
- 53:24Speaker 2: five double headers.
- 53:25Speaker 3: The rest of the way.
- 53:25Speaker 2: It's double headed, double headed the rest of the way.
- 53:27Speaker 2: The end of the season comes really really quickly from here.
- 53:30Speaker 2: Now's not the time to be carrying a lingering injury
- 53:33Speaker 2: because you know, effectively the second half of the season
- 53:36Speaker 2: happens in about twelve weeks or so, so.
- 53:38Speaker 3: You've got to be right for that.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Well, yeah, you're thinking long term here, right, because like
- 53:42Speaker 1: you said, you've got to get the season done. So
- 53:43Speaker 1: I think from Joe Okay being declared unfit help. But
- 53:47Speaker 1: I also think, you know, taking that extra we can
- 53:50Speaker 1: and getting back stronger so you can come in, like
- 53:53Speaker 1: you said, and not have something longer because he's I
- 53:57Speaker 1: think he's in the top five in the points of
- 53:58Speaker 1: the championship. I haven't, but I know obviously Ruaida was
- 54:01Speaker 1: his main title opponent that he was fighting for. I
- 54:04Speaker 1: think he got overtaken I heard on the broadcast. But
- 54:07Speaker 1: if Joel's going to have any chance of fighting for
- 54:09Speaker 1: this or getting that first win this season, he needs
- 54:12Speaker 1: to be strong for the second half.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's some good tracks for him in the
- 54:15Speaker 2: back half of the season as well, So he's going
- 54:18Speaker 2: to finish higher in the championship than he has finished previously.
- 54:20Speaker 2: We know that based on what he's done, but you
- 54:23Speaker 2: know that there'll be give him half a sniff and
- 54:25Speaker 2: there's going to be an opportunity for a home win.
- 54:27Speaker 3: I love the fact that.
- 54:28Speaker 2: He's approached Australia the way he has the past few years,
- 54:31Speaker 2: and that, you know, like pressure is a funny thing
- 54:32Speaker 2: for a home rider, right like some guys wilt under it.
- 54:36Speaker 3: Some guys find all.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Of the stuff outside of the track and the commitments
- 54:40Speaker 2: and the appearances and the attention. It's a little bit
- 54:42Speaker 2: much compared to some of the other races where he
- 54:44Speaker 2: can sort of just be in your own bubble and
- 54:45Speaker 2: do your thing. Joel's just like, bring it on, I'll
- 54:48Speaker 2: sign everything, I'll take a selfie with everybody. He's right
- 54:51Speaker 2: there for it and loves being in the center of it.
- 54:53Speaker 2: It's no surprise that he's done well here in the past,
- 54:55Speaker 2: so I reckon that's one that will be circled. And
- 54:58Speaker 2: as if it's like every other Philipilon weekend, there'll be
- 55:01Speaker 2: about one hundred and twenty people from Joel's family. He'll
- 55:03Speaker 2: be turning up at the same time, so he might
- 55:05Speaker 2: not get any sleep until he gets on the plane
- 55:07Speaker 2: going back to Malaysia.
- 55:09Speaker 1: I know you're the stats man, But I just pulled
- 55:11Speaker 1: up the championship standings for Moto three because I just
- 55:13Speaker 1: want to clarify. So Joel Kelso he has moved back
- 55:15Speaker 1: to six. He's on one hundred and ten. Now he's
- 55:17Speaker 1: thirteen points behind Munyo's that's who overtook him. I remember
- 55:21Speaker 1: now Matt saying, and he's one hundred and eighteen behind Ruaida. Okay,
- 55:25Speaker 1: but I think for Joel to get like fight back
- 55:28Speaker 1: and be in that top five at the end of
- 55:30Speaker 1: the year in Moto three, that's phenomenal when you're looking
- 55:33Speaker 1: at in the first five is Spanish Spanish, Spanish Spanish.
- 55:36Speaker 2: Well and also because of just how deep that field
- 55:38Speaker 2: is now, Like you look at Moto three these days
- 55:40Speaker 2: and you scan your eyes down those championship standings and
- 55:43Speaker 2: you have to go a long way down before you
- 55:45Speaker 2: find a reason to not think a guy like a
- 55:47Speaker 2: winner Grand Prix, like it's a super even field at
- 55:49Speaker 2: the moment, it's really deep. So for him to be
- 55:52Speaker 2: paddling in those sorts of waters away from home with
- 55:55Speaker 2: a whole imata of Spanish writers against him, yeah, he's
- 55:58Speaker 2: doing really well.
- 56:00Speaker 1: Now most of the riders are going to go on
- 56:02Speaker 1: their three weeks or four week in Joel's case, so
- 56:04Speaker 1: I'm a break. But for a few of them are
- 56:07Speaker 1: Moto GP and one writer who we briefly mentioned but
- 56:09Speaker 1: I want to talk about again, Jack Miller. He's going
- 56:12Speaker 1: to make his way to Japan in August for the
- 56:16Speaker 1: Suzukah eight Hour, one of the most prestigious motorbike endurance
- 56:20Speaker 1: races that there is on the calendar, and to be
- 56:22Speaker 1: invited to do that as well by Yamaha. In Jack's case,
- 56:26Speaker 1: I thought it was really really interesting. I mentioned it
- 56:28Speaker 1: in previous pods. But Matt, I wanted to ask you
- 56:31Speaker 1: about the rumors circulating Jack Miller at the moment and
- 56:34Speaker 1: potentially going to the Factory team alongside Fabio Kudura and
- 56:39Speaker 1: replacing Alex Rinz. That's the latest rumor that we've been hearing.
- 56:43Speaker 1: What have you heard? What's your thoughts on that?
- 56:46Speaker 2: The Alex Rinns problem, and it is a problem for
- 56:49Speaker 2: Yamaha now because Fabio Couaaterero is kind of a one
- 56:53Speaker 2: rider team there with that Factory team right now, because
- 56:56Speaker 2: through absolutely no fault of his own and through no
- 56:59Speaker 2: lack of effort or commitment on Alex's part, he hasn't
- 57:02Speaker 2: been the same rider since Magello twenty twenty three when
- 57:05Speaker 2: he had that really really bad league break. He's just
- 57:07Speaker 2: not the same rider. And we know a fully fit
- 57:10Speaker 2: Alex Readings is a really really good Grand Prix racer.
- 57:13Speaker 2: We saw what he did at Suzuki. He won a
- 57:15Speaker 2: race on NELSI R Honda. He's an absolute top shelf
- 57:17Speaker 2: motor GP rider when he's fully fit. The keywords in
- 57:21Speaker 2: that sentence are when he's fully fit, because he hasn't
- 57:23Speaker 2: been for so so long now, and this feels like
- 57:26Speaker 2: a sort of career cul de sack that he's gone
- 57:29Speaker 2: down now that I find it really hard to imagine
- 57:31Speaker 2: that he's going to turn it around, not because he's
- 57:33Speaker 2: not trying and they're trying to do everything to help
- 57:36Speaker 2: him do that. It feels like that ship has sailed
- 57:39Speaker 2: a little bit in terms of where he is physically.
- 57:41Speaker 2: The gap between him and Couato in every single session
- 57:44Speaker 2: on the Stopwatch and then in the standings is pretty
- 57:46Speaker 2: stark right now. It's interesting to me that Jack is
- 57:50Speaker 2: being linked with that seat alongside Quasurero simply because I
- 57:55Speaker 2: think when they formed the whole Pramak Yamaha thing. It
- 57:58Speaker 2: was very much supposed to to be a developmental team
- 58:02Speaker 2: of let's bring guys in and see if they're up
- 58:04Speaker 2: to it, with the logical progression the graduation, if you like,
- 58:09Speaker 2: to the main team. That was kind of why this
- 58:11Speaker 2: team was established, if you like, to bring Yamahara into
- 58:14Speaker 2: line with having four bikes like a lot of the
- 58:16Speaker 2: other manufacturers, but also to use it as a bit
- 58:19Speaker 2: of approving ground for riders who can then potentially step
- 58:22Speaker 2: up to the main team. And the analogy here. To me,
- 58:25Speaker 2: this always sounded a bit like a four wheel thing
- 58:27Speaker 2: for me, in that it's like the two red Bull
- 58:29Speaker 2: teams in Formula One and that you have whatever they're called.
- 58:32Speaker 2: They're called racing balls. This year they were called Alpha,
- 58:34Speaker 2: Tauri and RB and a million other terrible names. But
- 58:36Speaker 2: that team when they were called Torosso that was basically
- 58:41Speaker 2: where they'd bring in all these young rookies and see
- 58:43Speaker 2: if they sunk or swam. So guys like Sebastian Vettel
- 58:46Speaker 2: started there, Max to Stappan started there, Daniel Ricardo started there.
- 58:49Speaker 2: The ones that were really good graduated up into the
- 58:51Speaker 2: main team and then did what they did in the
- 58:53Speaker 2: main team and the ones that didn't quite stack up
- 58:55Speaker 2: were cast to the side and the next new group
- 58:56Speaker 2: would come in. And so if Miller was to move
- 59:00Speaker 2: to the factory Yamaha team alongside Quatrero, you've got an
- 59:04Speaker 2: absolute a listor in Quatrero with someone who's super experienced
- 59:08Speaker 2: like Jack Is, who's really good at sorting out new
- 59:10Speaker 2: things on a bike and will be quick enough that
- 59:13Speaker 2: you'll really get a translation of what Yamaha are bringing
- 59:15Speaker 2: to the bike that I don't think Rins can provide
- 59:17Speaker 2: right now. It doesn't feel like he's physically capable of
- 59:19Speaker 2: doing that. And then that would leave Pramack to probably
- 59:23Speaker 2: run with perhaps an LL rookie lineup for twenty twenty
- 59:25Speaker 2: six with topre As Gatalioglu and perhaps the Yogo Marrera
- 59:30Speaker 2: and Marera. Is the interesting one in that we know
- 59:33Speaker 2: Brazil's coming onto the calendar for next year.
- 59:35Speaker 3: It's clearly a.
- 59:35Speaker 2: New burgeoning market for motor GP. You can imagine the
- 59:39Speaker 2: ticket sales of the attendance and the sponsor interests and
- 59:41Speaker 2: everything else when we go to go on to next year,
- 59:43Speaker 2: So that's super interesting for me. He's also the right age,
- 59:47Speaker 2: he's super young. We don't know what his story is
- 59:50Speaker 2: yet and the raz Gataliol Blue thing. As exciting as
- 59:54Speaker 2: he is and amazing as he is to watch and
- 59:56Speaker 2: is dominant as he's been in World Superbikes, there is
- 59:58Speaker 2: an element of risk bringing him into Motor GP because
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: he's going to be a twenty nine year old rookie.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: That's really unusual, right, So for all the will in
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: the world, he might be absolutely fantastic, and if he is,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: then maybe he's the one that ends up in the
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: factory team. But it's one of those we need to
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: see it before we can say it. And he's going
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: to be a twenty nine year old rookie. And I
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: don't care how good you are in World Superbikes, you
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: are still a rookie in Motor GP. There's a lot
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: of new things to get used to. He might be
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: so talented that he can just come in and make
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: it work from day one, and that wouldn't necessarily surprise me,
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: but I also think it might take him a little
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: bit of time. And so if you're looking at that
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Pramak Yamaha set up as being the proving ground for
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: guys to go into the main factory team.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Jack Miller's motor.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: GP career is kind of you know, the clock's at
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: quarter to twelve or ten to twelve. You know, we're
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: nearly at the end of the ball here. But he's
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: been around for a very, very long time. He's the
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: perfect second rider in a main team. We've seen that
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: as recently as when he was at Decadie with Pacobana.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: We saw the impact that he had there. It's kind
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: of reprising that role as Jack goes into the fire
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: or a few years of his career. But isn't it
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: funny to think that two months ago we were talking about, Oh,
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Jack Miller doesn't have a contract. Miguel Olivera does have
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: a contract for twenty six top racs coming in. Does
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: this mean the end for Miller? He might end up
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: being in a stronger situation now than he was even
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: two months ago. And you just look at it from
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: a statistical point of view, there's no case for Yamaha
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: to get rid of Jack relative to Olivera or anybody else.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: It's fifty two points to six. It's twelve zero. Jack
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: leeds in qualifying for the season over's teammates. And someone
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: mentioned this and I forget who it was. On a
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: podcast I was listening to the other day, so apologies
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: to whoever mentioned it. Jorge Martin scored more points in
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: one Grand Prix last Sunday than Miguel Olivera scored this year,
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: and that's a pretty damning statistic. So in terms of
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: do I think that Pramak are probably going to part
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: ways with Olivera, I would say almost certainly yes, But
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: I don't think it's necessarily a case of Jack staying there.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: I think Jack might even have a chance of being
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: promoted up to the factory Yamaha team, because Yamaha has
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: this rins problem that won't go away. And as hard
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: as it is to say, I don't see how another
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: few races or even next year is going to change
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: a story that we've been seeing for two years. It
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: feels like Alex Rinza's physical decline is real, and maybe
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: that's the reason he gets shoehorned out.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Of that suit.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I'm actually kind of speechless because I thought you were
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: just gonna be like, I reckon, Jack's going to move up.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: But the fact that you've really thought about this in depth,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: and my original thought was Okay, yeah, Jack will move
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: up be a teammate to Corderrero and yes, top Racs
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: next year. I actually thought that they that Pramac would
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: bring Arbilino up because he's in their development team in
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Moto too, right, But yes, Diogo Morera, we spoke about
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: this last weekend. Obviously he made that silly mistake, but
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: we've seen the consistency and Brazil coming back onto the
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: Moto GP calendar for the first time in forever. There's
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: a sales point to it as well, and that's the
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: thing with motogib is not just always about what you
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: can do on the bike, it's also outside factors.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Well, another factor two.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: We heard overnight Monday night Australian time there's going to
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: be an Argentinian Grand Prix in twenty twenty seven. We're
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: not going back to Turmas in twenty twenty six, but
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: there's going to be a race quite near Buenos Aires
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: in twenty twenty seven. And we go to this new
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: regulation set having a South American rider on the grid
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: for a South American race. It sounds like a bit
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: of a no brainer to me, and imagine, well that's
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: going to do for tourism dollars and getting people through
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: the gates and potential new sponsors for the sport and
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: so on and so forth. It sounds like a bit
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: of a can't lose, doesn't it.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and it makes sense what you said actually makes sense.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: It was different than what I had thought of my head.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: But like you said, looking at the points, Fabric Cordoro
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: is currently ninth in the championship and one hundred and two.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: The next Yamaha is Jack on fifty two, and he
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: is fourteenth, and then we go down to eighteenth and
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: it's Alex Rinz who's on the factory bike, and then yes,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: all the way back down in twenty fifth is Miguel
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Oliver who's only a head of so Chantre who scored
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: his maiden point, and Alicia swagrou So the numbers speak
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: for themselves.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: What Kuatero has scored two more points and all the
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: other Yamaha riders put together, there's a step.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: For you that just shows you what Cordero is like
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: as a writer and why he is number one at
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Yama and why he deserves to be another world champion
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: if he gets on that bike that can then go
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: head to head with Marquez or twenty seven just sounding
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: more and more exciting everywhere.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: I cannot wait for twenty twenty seven.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: I know we have to get through the rest of
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: twenty five and or the twenty six, but bring on
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: twenty seven.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: It's gonna be fantastic.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Bring on twenty seven. And for those of you listening
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: at home, bring on the Suzuka eight hour because we
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: have it on Fox Sports and KO. All of the
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: action you guys can watch on channel five oh six
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: on Fox Sports and like I said, on KO Sports.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: But from Matt Clayton and myself Ronita Vermulin, I think
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: that pretty much sums up the Czech Grand Prix. We're
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: not going to be having a summer break though. We
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: are still going to be here bringing you guys as
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: much morotog news as we can and maybe even a
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: few guests along the way. But for now, if you
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: want to keep up to date with all the latest
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: MotoGP news, you can on our website, foxsports dot com
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: dot Au, Forward Slash Motorsport, and also on our social
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: media channels at Fox Motorsport everywhere. Like I said, from
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Matt Clayton myself, that is goodbye from now and we'll
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: be back real soon with more Moto GP. Pittalk
