- 0:07Speaker 1: It's often said that people of Utah speak a language
- 0:10Speaker 1: all their own. It's a language that's often confusing and
- 0:13Speaker 1: even incomprehensible to newcomers here in the Beehive State. So
- 0:17Speaker 1: Radio from Hell presents a handy guide to help everyone
- 0:21Speaker 1: understand how the natives speak. It's the Utah word of
- 0:25Speaker 1: the day, and today's.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Word is itcher it t c h E r itcher.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Another word that may occur is smine s m I
- 0:35Speaker 2: n E smine. And now here to use these words Marimonia,
- 0:39Speaker 2: Utah and Don's young Sun Denver. He's becoming increasingly excited
- 0:43Speaker 2: about Halloween again. The words are itcher and smine.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Oh, Daddy, I'm getting real excited.
- 0:50Speaker 1: For trick or treat Halloween.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Need just a couple of days the way, I'm gonna
- 0:54Speaker 3: get more canny than ever this year.
- 0:55Speaker 4: And now, Son, appreciate your enthused persona for the bookie season.
- 1:01Speaker 4: But I must issue a caution. I am the mayor
- 1:04Speaker 4: of this fine city of Mona, and we can't tolerate
- 1:07Speaker 4: any pranks this year.
- 1:09Speaker 3: But Daddy, that Halloween poem you taught me when I
- 1:12Speaker 3: was little, A little shaver says trick or treat, smell
- 1:16Speaker 3: my feet give me something good to eat. And if
- 1:19Speaker 3: you don't, I don't care.
- 1:21Speaker 5: I'll just pull.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Down your underwear.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Well, Tenver, I'm touched at that poem is stuck with
- 1:29Speaker 4: you all these years. And do you remember that Halloween song?
- 1:33Speaker 4: Trick or treat? Trick or treat, trick or treat for
- 1:36Speaker 4: Hallow right through little scalley wags and fiendish gags can
- 1:41Speaker 4: make it tough fun on you?
- 1:42Speaker 5: You bet, I do, Daddy, you taught me everything that's
- 1:45Speaker 5: important about Halloween. First off, go to the part of
- 1:49Speaker 5: town where the rich people living, and that means don't
- 1:52Speaker 5: trick or treat in Mona.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Go way up to them, new subdivisions and Nephi. That's
- 1:57Speaker 3: where you're gonna get better Kenny, sometimes full size bar,
- 2:00Speaker 3: that's right. And if they don't give you a good candy,
- 2:04Speaker 3: a good treat, or if they're not home, it's your
- 2:08Speaker 3: duty to give them a trick, do something like egg
- 2:10Speaker 3: the house or tpee of the yard. It's all part
- 2:13Speaker 3: of the Halloween fun. It's tradition, that's right, it's tradition.
- 2:16Speaker 3: But you gotta remember two more things, Denver. Make sure
- 2:20Speaker 3: your costume is real good so nobody can tell that
- 2:23Speaker 3: your Denver Criddle, the son of the Marimona. I can
- 2:27Speaker 3: do that, Daddy. I'm gonna be Cogsworth, that clock guy
- 2:30Speaker 3: for beauty and the beast. But what's the other thing
- 2:33Speaker 3: I gotta remember?
- 2:34Speaker 4: Well, remember it's your duty, as my only son, not
- 2:38Speaker 4: to eat any of the candy you get until you
- 2:40Speaker 4: bring it home, and then we spread it all out
- 2:43Speaker 4: on the kitchen table, and the first choice of that
- 2:46Speaker 4: candy smile.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Join us again some other time as we examine how
- 2:52Speaker 1: the Utah natives speak with the Utah Word of the
