- 0:05Speaker 1: is where it begins.
- 0:07Speaker 2: The a no TV show, This is the real world
- 0:12Speaker 2: and this.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Is what's happening at the courthouse. On KFM Mornings with.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Remis, so in the city yesterday the city courts, Yes,
- 0:23Speaker 3: Remis asks everybody one simple question.
- 0:26Speaker 1: What are you doing at the courtowns today?
- 0:28Speaker 4: For the smolishing of property?
- 0:30Speaker 1: For demolishing property? Why did you do that?
- 0:33Speaker 5: I was under the influence of alcohol. What did you
- 0:37Speaker 5: demolish a baulding where I worked? I'm in construction. Yes,
- 0:42Speaker 5: me and my former argument over my wages.
- 0:46Speaker 4: That wasn't right.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yes, did they pay you to little? Obviously?
- 0:50Speaker 5: Yes, my money was two days short. We played like
- 0:54Speaker 5: two hundred and fourth in a day. Yeah, it wasn't
- 0:57Speaker 5: all five. And I mean, of course that's a lot
- 1:00Speaker 5: of money. He was threatening me. He was telling me
- 1:03Speaker 5: to leave the site. So I told him, I will
- 1:05Speaker 5: leave the site as soon as you make my money right.
- 1:09Speaker 4: He was like pushing me. I came back.
- 1:12Speaker 5: I was like arguing with him, like when you're gonna
- 1:15Speaker 5: make my money right and all that. So he told
- 1:18Speaker 5: me it's not gonna make my money right. He was
- 1:21Speaker 5: telling me it's my problem and all that. It was
- 1:23Speaker 5: like unfair towards me, and my mind was confused. It's
- 1:28Speaker 5: not right what he's doing to me. I had to
- 1:30Speaker 5: do something about it. I'm like the only person in
- 1:34Speaker 5: the house that's working. I love with my grandmother and
- 1:37Speaker 5: my uncle and my auntie that is loving. They also
- 1:40Speaker 5: they are like tracks and all that.
- 1:41Speaker 4: You understand.
- 1:42Speaker 5: So my grandmother is like getting pencil and so my
- 1:46Speaker 5: little wages that I get to Alba or so you understand.
- 1:51Speaker 5: So all that stuff like running through my mind and
- 1:54Speaker 5: all that. For me, it's like a five hunderdre and
- 1:57Speaker 5: can do a lot.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I think you only got saving under forty.
- 2:00Speaker 5: N Yeah, my traveling fear for the week worked out
- 2:03Speaker 5: like two under the end.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Do they give you like a cash money like an envelope?
- 2:09Speaker 4: Yeah, they put in an envelope.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:12Speaker 5: So I was like throwing out about two three windows.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Now you can take my money to fix the windows.
- 2:20Speaker 4: You understand. Yeah, I lost, and he was losing. So
- 2:24Speaker 4: what was fair to me?
- 2:26Speaker 6: Not Tom though, because then he decided, yeah to take
- 2:29Speaker 6: the court and all that. Yuh, why did he put
- 2:32Speaker 6: you two day short? Did he think you didn't work
- 2:34Speaker 6: the two days.
- 2:35Speaker 5: I worked a whole week, so my money wasn't that right.
- 2:39Speaker 5: It wasn't only me, It was like two or three
- 2:42Speaker 5: other guys.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Also, what did they do?
- 2:45Speaker 5: We all did like handle our metals like differently.
- 2:49Speaker 6: You understand you're the only one who got the courage.
- 2:53Speaker 6: So then did he call the police at that moment?
- 2:56Speaker 5: The police came in picked me up at my house.
- 2:59Speaker 1: That's how you ended up up here.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm out on a owning.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Oh okay, but.
- 3:04Speaker 6: At least you're doing that I think by coming to
- 3:06Speaker 6: court because it can it can literally ruin your whole
- 3:08Speaker 6: life if you don't.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that will like put a record on my name.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But hopefully you don't do that again.
- 3:15Speaker 5: I did feel guilty over what I did. You understand
- 3:19Speaker 5: relieved or so because why I did something about it.
- 3:22Speaker 5: But I'll never do something like that again, you understand.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I definitely understand. So so thank you.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 3:30Speaker 1: What are you doing at the court house today?
- 3:32Speaker 7: Some people broke into my house and they were appearing today.
- 3:36Speaker 7: Apparently they were sent by someone to broke into my house. Yes,
- 3:40Speaker 7: according to them, now specifically your house, specifically my house.
- 3:45Speaker 7: Do you know who that person is? I know that
- 3:47Speaker 7: person I've got the name.
- 3:48Speaker 6: They gave me the name, and how do you feel
- 3:51Speaker 6: now knowing who it was that's seen those people?
- 3:54Speaker 1: Is the fight that's just.
- 3:55Speaker 7: Going on in the Proklane area between between for and
- 4:00Speaker 7: the private people who's buying the houses to rent them
- 4:06Speaker 7: to foreigners.
- 4:07Speaker 6: A couple of weeks ago, I had another person that
- 4:10Speaker 6: was talking about the exact same thing. They were trying
- 4:13Speaker 6: to force her out of the property. Now they got
- 4:16Speaker 6: someone to come and break into your house so that
- 4:19Speaker 6: you can be scared, basically, and then you must move out.
- 4:22Speaker 7: Yes, they even open a false case against me saying
- 4:26Speaker 7: that I'm assaulted someone, and that case it's pending, but
- 4:31Speaker 7: now it cannot be trace weight is did you assault someone?
- 4:35Speaker 7: I didn't assault anyone. They're just creating it. They are
- 4:38Speaker 7: not afraid to lie under oath. You joking, men, I'm
- 4:42Speaker 7: so serious with you. I'm a business man, Yeah, I
- 4:45Speaker 7: am here now. My business is suffering because of.
- 4:49Speaker 1: People who are selfish.
- 4:51Speaker 7: They only want their interests to be saved, and all
- 4:54Speaker 7: other people must go stay in Kailis checks.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Basically, this is what's going on here. I don't think
- 5:01Speaker 1: you should give up men, the house that.
- 5:02Speaker 7: I'm staying in has been sold two times while I'm there,
- 5:06Speaker 7: I don't know anything about that. Are your house that
- 5:08Speaker 7: I'm renting for the past seventeen years.
- 5:11Speaker 6: This lady before was renting the house for twenty nine years.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Now they want to push out. Yeah it's yeah, it's happening.
- 5:18Speaker 6: So it's now changed from forcing people out to trying
- 5:22Speaker 6: to break into their homes. Yes, and to scare them
- 5:25Speaker 6: to get out like a scare tactic.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I think we aren't covering a whole syndicate. Yea.
- 5:31Speaker 7: Yeah, it's like they are doing illegal fiction. I am
- 5:36Speaker 7: here because I can stand up to them, so other
- 5:38Speaker 7: people they just run away.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I'm not going to give in.
- 5:42Speaker 7: I can give you the names, I can give you
- 5:45Speaker 7: the reference of people who can tell you the similar
- 5:48Speaker 7: story or the worst story than what I'm telling you.
- 5:51Speaker 7: We are the actual people. There are people who are
- 5:55Speaker 7: business people in the property who want to make money
- 6:00Speaker 7: buying those houses cheap and renting them with or.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Even just throwing them down and holding you.
- 6:06Speaker 7: Yes, exactly, that is what's happening. They are behind the scenes.
- 6:09Speaker 7: I've told the prosecutor that might demands is for them
- 6:13Speaker 7: to tell the truth. That's all I want is for
- 6:16Speaker 7: them to tell the truth on records and the oath
- 6:19Speaker 7: who sent them, and you want the names.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I want the name on oath on oath.
- 6:24Speaker 7: That's the only way that they are going to cut
- 6:26Speaker 7: away with this case, to tell the truth.
- 6:28Speaker 6: But that's the only way the big bosses are gonna
- 6:30Speaker 6: get into trouble.
- 6:31Speaker 1: The court can go after them.
- 6:34Speaker 7: I would love to see that, but I don't have
- 6:37Speaker 7: hope that our court or our law will just do
- 6:40Speaker 7: that for entirely. It's going to be a fight. My
- 6:44Speaker 7: lawyer said, we don't want to deal with these ones.
- 6:46Speaker 7: We don't want the people that they sent. Yeah, they
- 6:49Speaker 7: sent We want them, Yeah, we want them.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 6: Thank you very much for your time, sir, Thank you,
- 6:54Speaker 6: thank you, thank you so much.
- 6:57Speaker 8: Sure there's a lot happening, there is pray.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Yeah hmm. Very mean.
- 7:03Speaker 8: And like you said, I hope he doesn't give up,
- 7:06Speaker 8: give up.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I hope he continues this fight.
- 7:09Speaker 3: So he says, the house has been sold three times
- 7:12Speaker 3: and he's been living there seventeen years exactly.
- 7:15Speaker 2: And my concern is that even if he's able to
- 7:17Speaker 2: get some kind of justice, they know where you live,
- 7:20Speaker 2: they are able to threaten you still for a long time,
- 7:25Speaker 2: even the only viable option might be for him to move.
- 7:31Speaker 9: So who's the current owner.
- 7:32Speaker 6: Of this house from e we Again, he doesn't know
- 7:36Speaker 6: who the exact owner is. It was under a sort
- 7:40Speaker 6: of like a company that owned the entire property, so
- 7:42Speaker 6: the entire sort of land area. And then I think
- 7:46Speaker 6: they sold it on you see, but they didn't tell
- 7:49Speaker 6: the people that are venting who they sold it to.
- 7:52Speaker 3: You know, what it feels like is just from all
- 7:55Speaker 3: of that, what seems like, so maybe some guy developers
- 7:59Speaker 3: come in, he's bought a whole bunch of properties, all
- 8:03Speaker 3: adjacent to each other. He wants to bash him down
- 8:06Speaker 3: and develop something. But now the existing tenants that are
- 8:10Speaker 3: there don't want to leave. He's been their seventeen.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Years, been there.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Yeah, and then maybe the guy gave up and then
- 8:17Speaker 3: he sold and someone else brought or something like that.
- 8:20Speaker 3: That guy tried and he sold and then somebody else
- 8:22Speaker 3: had him. Because as far as I know, and it's
- 8:27Speaker 3: tend to be corrected, Yeah, if you have a tenant
- 8:29Speaker 3: in your house, okay, and then you sell that house,
- 8:34Speaker 3: that tenants contract is not null and void. It's still
- 8:40Speaker 3: it carries over with the sale, and you.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Have to find them alternate accommodation as the landlord.
- 8:48Speaker 8: So then you owner, you then inherit, inherit the tenant.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not just null and void. It's messy this property,
- 8:58Speaker 3: you know.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And now just now because of intimidation and strange tactics.
- 9:05Speaker 3: I mean, yesterday's prank was dealing with just this, you know,
- 9:09Speaker 3: and then you get the people that just won't leave.
- 9:12Speaker 9: You know.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I'm also still annoyed at that other guy.
- 9:14Speaker 8: Why didn't you pay the man he's way just for.
- 9:17Speaker 2: The full week, and now the man must go full revenge.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yeah, this is an average day in the city. You're
- 9:30Speaker 3: in your bubble, you go to work, you're doing your thing,
- 9:32Speaker 3: you're kissing your kids good night.
- 9:33Speaker 8: There's so much going on.
- 9:35Speaker 1: You understand.
- 9:36Speaker 8: It's you understand. I understand.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Good job for me, Thank you very much. All right,
- 9:43Speaker 3: that's what's happening at the courts. Your comments O way
- 9:46Speaker 3: two nine four five zero nine four zero, shack youra
- 9:50Speaker 3: whenever wherever. The new woke up song comes out today
- 9:53Speaker 3: from Shakira called Die Die.
- 9:56Speaker 8: Can't wait for that?
- 9:58Speaker 3: Okay, we got oh some of your messages here, just
- 10:03Speaker 3: don't want to read one here just in terms of
- 10:05Speaker 3: that scenario in the last story there, I'm in a
- 10:09Speaker 3: state agent and taking over tenant when selling.
- 10:14Speaker 9: Is legally called her hat for coup? What your hat
- 10:21Speaker 9: for coup? Here?
- 10:25Speaker 2: Hu?
- 10:25Speaker 8: You are here here hot.
- 10:30Speaker 3: For quip termed from old lord. New landlord cannot give
- 10:36Speaker 3: the tenant notice until two months prior to expiration of
- 10:40Speaker 3: lease unless the landlord wants to move in. There's a
- 10:45Speaker 3: lot of legal stuff yet, and I'll tell you now,
- 10:50Speaker 3: the law protects the tenant one hundred percent of the time.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, And in some instances, you know, as a tenant
- 10:59Speaker 2: to someone who's rented for a long time, it's nice
- 11:03Speaker 2: to have some form of protection because without a home,
- 11:06Speaker 2: where do you go. But there's also instances where maybe
- 11:10Speaker 2: it does swing too much, you know, the other way.
- 11:14Speaker 8: Because your comments here they are to that.
- 11:20Speaker 4: First guy, listen of the day.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Not ever reaction requires the reaction shame, but that foreman.
- 11:32Speaker 1: And not on the day that is supposed to get
- 11:33Speaker 1: paid in this trouble.
- 11:39Speaker 10: A similar story to this one guy with this Brooklyns.
- 11:43Speaker 10: And because I have a friend that's been staying in
- 11:45Speaker 10: Brooklyn for over for pinions and her house has been
- 11:49Speaker 10: broken into twice. So now she is at the point
- 11:52Speaker 10: where she's so afraid she is now the house is
- 11:56Speaker 10: for sale.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I mean, I'll get it twice so too.
- 12:00Speaker 10: Yeah, this has been happening at other hours in Brooklyn.
- 12:03Speaker 10: Clearly this is a synding going on.
- 12:05Speaker 11: I get into my car early on a Thursday just
- 12:09Speaker 11: so I don't miss Courthouse. And my favorite part about
- 12:13Speaker 11: it is that it brings to light real issues that
- 12:17Speaker 11: most people who are in the poverty pool are experiencing,
- 12:23Speaker 11: or foreigners or old people or so many peoples affected
- 12:28Speaker 11: by drugs. So it really brings to light the reality
- 12:32Speaker 11: of the lives people are living in Cape Town. So
- 12:35Speaker 11: I really love the reality that this shines to light on.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:40Speaker 8: True, that that's why we do it. People battles out there.
- 12:44Speaker 8: Yeah okay,
