- 0:05Speaker 1: Well, welcome back to those amos. Is this part two
- 0:07Speaker 1: of our beautiful conversation with that brother Terry Crews. I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: Wilmer Aboud, Rama'm Freddie Rodriguez and be brought back into this.
- 0:14Speaker 1: What did that lead to?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Terry?
- 0:15Speaker 3: What?
- 0:16Speaker 2: What was the next thing?
- 0:17Speaker 3: Wow? What? This was so crazy. There was a Schwartzenegger movie, yeah,
- 0:21Speaker 3: and how I had did security on end of days.
- 0:25Speaker 3: We were all downtown LA. There was a Swartzenegger movie. Yeah,
- 0:30Speaker 3: and we and they were shooting downtown and I was
- 0:33Speaker 3: like the guy who watched I watched an alley for
- 0:36Speaker 3: like two months and all of a sudden and wait,
- 0:39Speaker 3: and I'm gonna tell you this. This is another great story.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I was in charge of watching where the extras went
- 0:46Speaker 3: and the whole thing. And this guy comes up to
- 0:48Speaker 3: me and he says, hey, man, are you an actorate?
- 0:50Speaker 3: I said, no, sir, No, I'm security. He said, dude, dude,
- 0:55Speaker 3: you know I'm I'm Arnold Schwarzeninger's makeup artist. He said,
- 0:59Speaker 3: you should be acting, so you have a great look.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And I went, thank you, sir. His name was Jeff Dahn. Dude,
- 1:08Speaker 3: all of a sudden, it's Sony right. So Sony needed
- 1:12Speaker 3: a bad guy heavy for one of their movies they
- 1:15Speaker 3: were doing with Arnold Sportzenegger. So they milled around and
- 1:19Speaker 3: they saw that I was on this show for Battle
- 1:21Speaker 3: Doome for two years and I became the heavy. And
- 1:23Speaker 3: I went in and an auditioned for this thing, and
- 1:25Speaker 3: the lady was like, you're pretty good. I was like oh,
- 1:28Speaker 3: she said, now, look you're a sweetheart. You gotta go
- 1:30Speaker 3: in there with the director and you gotta be pissed off,
- 1:33Speaker 3: don't even don't don't be nice at all. So I
- 1:36Speaker 3: remember going to His name was Roger Spottswood, the British director,
- 1:38Speaker 3: and I walked in there like, yeah, man, so you've
- 1:41Speaker 3: been have you been acting? I was like, Noah, I
- 1:43Speaker 3: do this, you know, yeah, you know. I was just
- 1:46Speaker 3: saying yeah. I was like, is it work it? Yeah?
- 1:52Speaker 3: I got the job. Yeah, my first audition for a movie,
- 1:57Speaker 3: I got you.
- 1:58Speaker 1: But but you had to read for it.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Read. But it was one read and it wasn't like
- 2:03Speaker 3: the other show where months go by. They're like you're
- 2:06Speaker 3: going to be spending Now you're gonna go six months
- 2:09Speaker 3: in Vancouver with Arnold Sports and we're paying seventy five
- 2:13Speaker 3: thousand dollars, all the tough stuff went out. Oh my god,
- 2:21Speaker 3: I said, I got this movie. I got it. I said,
- 2:26Speaker 3: what she's like, I told you this is you. Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 3: take it go. I'm in Vancouver, now this is man.
- 2:34Speaker 3: I'm still scared of getting cut. I didn't now I
- 2:38Speaker 3: had imposter syndrome.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I'm like, this is a big movie.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Sixth day.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I remember when he was getting cloned, the
- 2:48Speaker 3: whole thing, and oh it was it was it was
- 2:52Speaker 3: wild man. I'm in and it's Arnold, like Arnold, Arnold,
- 2:56Speaker 3: what was that?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Like you going said? And all it was sudden. Arnold's
- 3:01Speaker 1: walking up.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you this the first scene I ever had.
- 3:06Speaker 3: I'll never forget the first time I actually met him.
- 3:09Speaker 3: I was supposed to walk up to him and I
- 3:11Speaker 3: was say, I remember saying, I said his name. It
- 3:14Speaker 3: was like Roger So and so you come with us
- 3:18Speaker 3: and I because I walked up the steps and I
- 3:25Speaker 3: was like, oh no, Adam Gibson. That's what was his name.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I said, Adam Gibson. I remember the line they come back,
- 3:30Speaker 3: Adam Gibson, Uh, come with us? I went, and Arnold's
- 3:36Speaker 3: looking at me. Because what happened is you know, you
- 3:38Speaker 3: open the door and he opens the door and Arnold,
- 3:42Speaker 3: oh no.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Just like okay, he's coming in. We're saying action and
- 3:45Speaker 1: Donald don't want to do that.
- 3:46Speaker 3: He's like, he just stayed there. You know what I
- 3:50Speaker 3: meant time, Sloop said waiting. You know, so I'm just going, okay,
- 3:56Speaker 3: don't be a problem, right dude. I froze, but something this. Sorry,
- 4:01Speaker 3: we gotta we got a light issue. Save my lass
- 4:06Speaker 3: because I froze and I went back and I wouldn't.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Pulling myself to the side. I said, dude, do you
- 4:13Speaker 3: want to go back and doing security? Do you want
- 4:16Speaker 3: to go back to I said, man, your wife, your family,
- 4:20Speaker 3: everyone is counting on you. And said, hey man, listen,
- 4:24Speaker 3: it's a dude, just you. If you don't do this,
- 4:29Speaker 3: you don't deserve it now going there and saying lines
- 4:35Speaker 3: like and I was telling myself, don't you get into me, brother.
- 4:39Speaker 3: That next scene, I walked up in there with Adam
- 4:41Speaker 3: Gibson and come with us, and I was like, oh,
- 4:45Speaker 3: I like this guy. And I was like I can
- 4:52Speaker 3: see it on thro but it was like my first hit,
- 4:54Speaker 3: you know what I mean. It's like in football, you
- 4:56Speaker 3: have to get that first hit because you're scared. Every
- 5:00Speaker 3: NFL player, I don't care what they're talking about. They
- 5:02Speaker 3: scared until you get that first hit. Bout yeah you
- 5:05Speaker 3: go all right, I'm alive. Okay, boom, I can do this, dude,
- 5:09Speaker 3: I said, man, And it was like go go oh,
- 5:13Speaker 3: my god. And the rest of the way. He was
- 5:14Speaker 3: so cool. He was cool to me. And I remember
- 5:16Speaker 3: he was with Marie at the time and his kids
- 5:19Speaker 3: were little. We were running around there. Man, this is
- 5:22Speaker 3: ninety nine. Yeah, the brother in nineteen ninety nine and
- 5:26Speaker 3: the way, and now it wasn't a hit, and it wasn't,
- 5:29Speaker 3: but I'm going up, dude. I'm in a movie, dude,
- 5:33Speaker 3: and I'm just looking at I remember we were time
- 5:36Speaker 3: and they flew me and my wife. We flew us
- 5:38Speaker 3: from Rome, Italy for just the premiere there. And I
- 5:41Speaker 3: was going premiered in Rome. I don't know. It was
- 5:45Speaker 3: like the foreign people, but it was a premiere. But
- 5:48Speaker 3: it wasn't really a premiere. It's like a screening. But
- 5:51Speaker 3: I didn't care. I was like, we're roll.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I was like, hey, what it's crazy.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Me and but my wife. I mean, let me tell you, man.
- 5:58Speaker 3: It was coming from that. It was like if that
- 6:01Speaker 3: would have been it, that would have been enough, you
- 6:04Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like that's a tree. And then
- 6:06Speaker 3: it kept going like yeah, I mean everything.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Did that movie once it came out? Did that performance
- 6:17Speaker 2: lead to something else?
- 6:18Speaker 3: Or you No, No, it led to nothing. You know what?
- 6:22Speaker 3: It led to something? Training Day? Oh, I was an
- 6:26Speaker 3: extra in Training Day. Remember after that, listen, I had
- 6:30Speaker 3: done the movie. It had to come out. Remember the movie.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I had done the movie, and then you're at home.
- 6:34Speaker 3: You wait from the editor, you wait on So nobody
- 6:37Speaker 3: knew that I was in a movie. But I was like,
- 6:39Speaker 3: that movie's coming. But Training Day they were filming Training Day.
- 6:44Speaker 3: I was a location the location manager because remember I
- 6:47Speaker 3: did security and so the location man he said that, man,
- 6:49Speaker 3: Denzel's down here shooting in the jungle. Man, you want
- 6:51Speaker 3: to come by? I said yes, yes, because he heard
- 6:54Speaker 3: I was doing movies and stuff and I still had
- 6:57Speaker 3: done the Battle Dome shows, so it was kind of
- 6:58Speaker 3: like it's so there I am. I'm across the street
- 7:01Speaker 3: from Battle Doome because l A Coliseum was right down
- 7:04Speaker 3: the street. So I'm so the gangs were like, hey man,
- 7:07Speaker 3: you got t money from uh? Because he would go
- 7:12Speaker 3: they were shot iaid what's up y'all?
- 7:14Speaker 4: Was?
- 7:16Speaker 3: They kind of knew me, so I kind of got
- 7:18Speaker 3: a pass with because they only had gang members from
- 7:23Speaker 3: from the jungle. But they were like, oh, man, alright
- 7:26Speaker 3: on he on that show, remember that show over there?
- 7:28Speaker 3: They were like okay. And I got and Bone, who
- 7:31Speaker 3: was one of the main main like actors slash gang
- 7:36Speaker 3: people who could he would do it off for all
- 7:39Speaker 3: the movies. And Bone gave me the path. Bone was
- 7:41Speaker 3: like you good, you good? You know Bone? Bone was good, dude, man,
- 7:45Speaker 3: and and Bone just blessed me. Man. So he so
- 7:49Speaker 3: then I'm watching I just want to wash this opp
- 7:52Speaker 3: dude and walks over to me and says, hey man,
- 7:54Speaker 3: you want to be in this movie. I said, take
- 7:57Speaker 3: your shirt off, We're going to the roof.
- 7:59Speaker 1: It was me so so you were just there, just
- 8:02Speaker 1: just checking it out. He was into just to watch.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it, that's it. And you know that scene
- 8:07Speaker 3: with the and a Lonzo's coming down and cult the
- 8:11Speaker 3: sac that's me. He said, hey man, that was great.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Come back every night and we'll see where else I
- 8:18Speaker 3: can put You came back for two weeks.
- 8:21Speaker 1: You had like close up yea hero showing.
- 8:28Speaker 3: When Denzel did his whole King Kong speech, he said,
- 8:32Speaker 3: you I want you standing right there looking at the
- 8:35Speaker 3: Zel and mad Dog in them. That was the thing.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Because that was the moment where the hood was like
- 8:41Speaker 1: the magic is broken. Yeah, you're in the Magician anymore.
- 8:46Speaker 3: See yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 1: And so when you when you when you give that energy,
- 8:50Speaker 1: it was represented of the whole block everything. It's like, yeah, yeah,
- 8:54Speaker 1: we're not under the spell anymore.
- 8:55Speaker 3: It validated the whole film because they was like this,
- 9:00Speaker 3: dude stands for us. And then training day went.
- 9:05Speaker 1: How many takes did he do?
- 9:06Speaker 3: Oh? He was going all night, but it was he
- 9:09Speaker 3: was in proved. He was going, dude, I'll never forget this.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I actually got a peek because the script was on
- 9:15Speaker 3: his car on that on that uh, on the on
- 9:17Speaker 3: the car Eliza, and he had written on it the
- 9:21Speaker 3: Wages of Sin is death because he knew he's like,
- 9:27Speaker 3: because they wanted to make sequels and all this stuff.
- 9:29Speaker 3: And I found out later he thought, you got to
- 9:31Speaker 3: kill me because he didn't die in the original script.
- 9:34Speaker 3: They wanted him to keep going like.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And you know, I didn't know that he wasn't supposed
- 9:39Speaker 1: to die.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Well, you know, that state there and they were like,
- 9:43Speaker 3: but you know, you know studios, they want to make
- 9:45Speaker 3: it cash cow and training day two day, he was like, nope,
- 9:51Speaker 3: got to kill me, Gotta kill me, because this allowed
- 9:54Speaker 3: him to be as bad as he could, like he
- 9:57Speaker 3: could just do anything, like but he knew the Senate deaf.
- 10:02Speaker 3: It was just soaking it all there like watching it.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And then the Academy Awards hit and my mother saw.
- 10:09Speaker 3: She's like they showed that scene was. Mother was like,
- 10:13Speaker 3: you want the Academy Awards.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Clip? Yeah, and he got the mother said you have
- 10:23Speaker 1: to know.
- 10:23Speaker 3: She said, you got you you got an oscar. I said, no,
- 10:26Speaker 3: I didn't, but I'm in the show.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Because they used that clip.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Can't call and got.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Right, And then it cuts to you and you're there.
- 10:38Speaker 3: I'm right. I'm just the whole time, the whole time,
- 10:42Speaker 3: and it's Jake, Jake. He's from Jake's walking off and
- 10:45Speaker 3: I'm just still standing there looking at her. He's going
- 10:48Speaker 3: down the Coultor Stack product. I'll never forget that. David
- 10:52Speaker 3: wrote The Ship out of that Man. And David showed
- 10:55Speaker 3: up on set. It my first time meeting him. Yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 3: I wasna. He was on set and I was in
- 10:58Speaker 3: there and he was like, hey, what's uping? You know,
- 11:01Speaker 3: cool guy, I'm just but I'm talking in film works
- 11:04Speaker 3: and film because you know, I'm just over there trying
- 11:06Speaker 3: to be like, oh what how does that work? And
- 11:10Speaker 3: what was wild is that the crew did never wanted
- 11:12Speaker 3: to shoot in the jungle, so there was a lot
- 11:14Speaker 3: of problems because you know, these Warner Brothers guys, they
- 11:19Speaker 3: wanted to shoot it all in Santa Carita and NFL
- 11:21Speaker 3: say that. You know, one of the production guys got stoked,
- 11:24Speaker 3: like in the middle of the movie, like and they
- 11:27Speaker 3: but then I'll never forget man Craft Service Lady was
- 11:30Speaker 3: all like, they're they're over here eating all our boot
- 11:33Speaker 3: and the whole everybody like, because I did security too,
- 11:36Speaker 3: so I was like, eight, don't you ever say anything.
- 11:39Speaker 3: I said, all these people need to come in here
- 11:41Speaker 3: and eat whatever they want. You're in their neighborhood. It was.
- 11:44Speaker 3: It was that kind of you know, white Hollywood, and
- 11:48Speaker 3: I said, you gotta respect these people. You're in their house,
- 11:51Speaker 3: you're in there. It's not a film set. But Antoine
- 11:54Speaker 3: and Denzel said, we have to shoot here. There's no
- 11:57Speaker 3: way we're gonna rebuild this set. No we're going down
- 12:00Speaker 3: with the people.
- 12:01Speaker 1: That were right, Come on, right you felt that offense?
- 12:05Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Oh it was all obvious. You know you
- 12:07Speaker 3: have people, you know, people all talking stuff because they're
- 12:12Speaker 3: thinking you just so and so you ain't a star,
- 12:15Speaker 3: so they start talking. Yeah you're like, oh.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Man, now you guys worked together in the movie.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Yeah, there har time?
- 12:34Speaker 2: Did did training day lead to you being in harsh time?
- 12:37Speaker 2: How did that work?
- 12:39Speaker 3: Well? Remember, training day led to a lot. Training day
- 12:42Speaker 3: led to Friday after next because cub saw because remember
- 12:45Speaker 3: I was security, the cubes saw me in and training
- 12:49Speaker 3: day was like that's he puts out there. Watch dude,
- 12:53Speaker 3: I got a call. I'll never forget. I'm sitting there, me,
- 12:58Speaker 3: Cat Williams sitting right next to each other, all this
- 13:00Speaker 3: your room, like this is the next Friday. It's the
- 13:03Speaker 3: next one. And then what happened is Tiny didn't want
- 13:06Speaker 3: to come back, and so they rewrichrote because he was like,
- 13:09Speaker 3: I don't want to do it, so they rewrote it.
- 13:12Speaker 3: We wrote this character Damon, and I was like, oh,
- 13:15Speaker 3: it's all. And see my thing is I was going
- 13:18Speaker 3: to go in and I went in with people. So listen,
- 13:22Speaker 3: I have people that were so scared of me for
- 13:24Speaker 3: years because they thought, you know, they were like, oh man,
- 13:28Speaker 3: damn it. I had the tattooed on my chest and
- 13:30Speaker 3: I went in like whoa and people were like they
- 13:34Speaker 3: were watching playback, like damn And I was like quig
- 13:38Speaker 3: and day day just I need to see people like
- 13:45Speaker 3: the theater was like.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But for that to work, you had to show up
- 13:51Speaker 1: that hard.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I'm born and raised Flint is Compton's sister city, Like
- 13:59Speaker 3: I can't him up with I knew day listen. I
- 14:03Speaker 3: had to pretend to be Damon and go to art
- 14:05Speaker 3: school like because you gotta you gotta code switch, you
- 14:08Speaker 3: gotta act like this just in order to get past
- 14:10Speaker 3: the gangsters. And you're go in there like okay, that
- 14:12Speaker 3: stuck Star Wars guys, you know what I mean. Because
- 14:15Speaker 3: you in the hood, they like, hey, man, what your
- 14:17Speaker 3: careters portfolio? Yeah? Man, whatever, man, you know, and I
- 14:22Speaker 3: would fake like I was, you know, and then I
- 14:24Speaker 3: go into class like, oh, let me alone. And then
- 14:27Speaker 3: if sports was the way I survived because they see
- 14:29Speaker 3: you got a little neck, they go like, man, let
- 14:31Speaker 3: that dude alone. Man, he got he's gonna play football something.
- 14:34Speaker 3: That was the way you got by it was either
- 14:37Speaker 3: sports or you just hustle. So I knew damon and
- 14:41Speaker 3: I kicked into it. People like what. My wife hated it.
- 14:45Speaker 1: She hated that character.
- 14:49Speaker 3: What are my friends at church gonna?
- 14:51Speaker 4: One?
- 14:51Speaker 1: Are my friends at church?
- 14:53Speaker 2: How did how did CB react when all of a
- 14:55Speaker 2: sudden you're on set, You're you're playing this integral part
- 14:59Speaker 2: in the movie, and like a couple of years ago
- 15:01Speaker 2: you were doing security for I mean, what was that dynamic?
- 15:04Speaker 3: Like, first of all, you know, I was thankful, thankful, Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 3: of course, you know. We had like a four banger,
- 15:10Speaker 3: five banger. I remember honey Wagons. I couldn't laid out.
- 15:14Speaker 3: It was like they can break up and they had
- 15:18Speaker 3: you know, you go get your lunch, you get come
- 15:20Speaker 3: in there. I'm like, I'm in the movies. I'm in
- 15:23Speaker 3: the movies. I'm so happy. And I would jump out
- 15:25Speaker 3: there and me and Cat, Me and me and Cat
- 15:27Speaker 3: made a pat Me and Cat said, Hey, if no
- 15:31Speaker 3: one ever, if we don't do anything after this, they
- 15:34Speaker 3: will never forget it. Yes, let's and Cat was homeless.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Cat was living in the trailer. Yes, you understand how
- 15:43Speaker 3: crazy this was. Because people were hustling. Man, people had
- 15:46Speaker 3: to make it, and when you go moving out to Hollywood, man,
- 15:51Speaker 3: people don't understand, like what happens is influencers think we
- 15:54Speaker 3: made it. But you know that you got a little following.
- 15:58Speaker 3: But it's man like in that day. To get noticed,
- 16:03Speaker 3: you had the sacrifice, like you had to really like
- 16:07Speaker 3: grind grind. He was doing Hollywood Park at night and
- 16:10Speaker 3: they're sleeping in the trailer. Wow. And he would wait
- 16:13Speaker 3: for everybody to go home and come back in hey man.
- 16:17Speaker 3: And I remember being there. Man, I was like cat Man.
- 16:19Speaker 3: He was like, dude, he said, we gotta do this, man,
- 16:22Speaker 3: And he said, if we don't, if we don't make
- 16:25Speaker 3: this so unforgettable, we just gonna be forgettable. And so
- 16:29Speaker 3: when we did that scene with the pliers and the
- 16:31Speaker 3: whole thing, and we were really crying. You understand, you
- 16:35Speaker 3: see that scene take the music out. It's drama all day.
- 16:39Speaker 3: We were crying and he was ah. He was like,
- 16:42Speaker 3: you are not.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I am not.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I I'm a board, dang man. People were in there
- 16:48Speaker 3: like this went to a hole in cube told me
- 16:51Speaker 3: he said, man, look, he said, dude, that first couple
- 16:55Speaker 3: acts is me and Mike. He said, but the whole
- 16:58Speaker 3: movie is you and cat he said, I gotta give
- 17:01Speaker 3: it up. He said, dog y'all took that to a
- 17:04Speaker 3: whole level that nobody. But that's why I knew. I said,
- 17:08Speaker 3: just go in. Yeah, there's nothing to lose. Yeah, you
- 17:12Speaker 3: know what I mean. That doesn't mean being big, you know,
- 17:15Speaker 3: it just means on it. What do you want to see?
- 17:19Speaker 3: Like That's what I kept asking myself, like, how would
- 17:22Speaker 3: I play this? What would I what would I say,
- 17:24Speaker 3: like how I want to see this character? And then
- 17:27Speaker 3: I would go into it, and man, that was that
- 17:30Speaker 3: was my only real you know what I mean at
- 17:33Speaker 3: the time.
- 17:33Speaker 2: But it seemed like from from T bone to that,
- 17:37Speaker 2: like a lot of these characters.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Were hard right, Like but how does.
- 17:42Speaker 3: That lead the white chicks? Man?
- 17:45Speaker 2: I mean, how does how does somebody a director see
- 17:48Speaker 2: those movies and go, yup, he should be that guy?
- 17:51Speaker 1: Because it was so polar opposite.
- 17:53Speaker 2: And I remember watching that and going like, yo, this
- 17:56Speaker 2: different level. I was so impressed. I was so impressed
- 18:01Speaker 2: on so many levels. But I was so impressed by
- 18:04Speaker 2: your willingness to go to go that far because you
- 18:08Speaker 2: had already established a certain I don't want to say persona,
- 18:13Speaker 2: but people saw you a certain way, right in the characters,
- 18:16Speaker 2: and you could have kept going in that direction.
- 18:18Speaker 1: You can you could have held tight yeah.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Yeah, hell tight to that persona and being like, no,
- 18:25Speaker 2: I don't want to be portrayed in this way because
- 18:26Speaker 2: it may affect people like yeah, but what well made
- 18:31Speaker 2: you have the balls to go?
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna try this right here, I'm gonna.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Go wanted it. I never wanted to be that guy
- 18:39Speaker 3: I want you.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Never wanted to play that came.
- 18:41Speaker 3: I never wanted to be hardcore. Oh because I'm not.
- 18:47Speaker 1: But but that was your bread and butter though.
- 18:48Speaker 3: But because of the where I look see but this was
- 18:51Speaker 3: the new This is what I figured out, And I
- 18:53Speaker 3: figured there's a long time ago. It's the turn because
- 18:57Speaker 3: when you give people that you're like, you show up
- 19:00Speaker 3: as something, they go, hey, hey, he's not wait a minute.
- 19:05Speaker 3: And I started to do that because I could give
- 19:07Speaker 3: him all that. And where it happened was in a
- 19:10Speaker 3: movie called Malibu's Most Wanted. Okay, Malibu's Most Wanted.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Jamie in the back of clapping.
- 19:22Speaker 3: And wait, remember I We'll go all out. And it
- 19:24Speaker 3: was funny because Damian Ways, Who's dame? It was Sean
- 19:29Speaker 3: and Marlin's nephew was the main guy and I was
- 19:33Speaker 3: his backup, and I played a character named eight Ball, right.
- 19:36Speaker 1: And this was after Friday.
- 19:37Speaker 3: And this was after Friday, but you know, you're just working,
- 19:40Speaker 3: you know. I got to like auditioned and they were like, hey,
- 19:43Speaker 3: you'd be great behind someone. So I was like, cool,
- 19:45Speaker 3: you know, I'm taking all the jobs right man. Because
- 19:49Speaker 3: what happened is a battle on was canceled and I
- 19:51Speaker 3: lost my house. I moved too fast, got a house
- 19:56Speaker 3: and couldn't afford it, and I was like, oh no,
- 19:58Speaker 3: and so we had to be lost our house. And
- 20:00Speaker 3: I was like okay. So now I'm just doing commercials
- 20:03Speaker 3: and anything I can do. And Malibu's Most Wanted came
- 20:06Speaker 3: up and I was like, oh great, so I could
- 20:07Speaker 3: be in this movie. And so I had a do
- 20:09Speaker 3: rag on and on again. Back to hardcore guy. But
- 20:15Speaker 3: I started doing stuff on set and they were like,
- 20:17Speaker 3: look what he's doing. There was one thing, you see
- 20:19Speaker 3: a scene where I was just start dancing like this,
- 20:21Speaker 3: my chain's going there, like.
- 20:22Speaker 1: When you're kind of popping.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, they were like, hey, hey, keep the camera on that.
- 20:28Speaker 3: And then I had one of the funniest lines in
- 20:31Speaker 3: the movie that was totally add lift right because what
- 20:35Speaker 3: was happening is Jamie Kennedy is talking to his dad
- 20:42Speaker 3: and he's like, oh and so we're getting all emotional
- 20:45Speaker 3: while we're watching it, like and he says, man, and
- 20:48Speaker 3: then I said, I wish I could talk to my
- 20:51Speaker 3: pops like that. That was my line, I wish I
- 20:53Speaker 3: could talk to my pops like that. Said I'm gonna
- 20:56Speaker 3: call that right now. And then Dave was like, man,
- 21:05Speaker 3: get your fan back here.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Man.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I was like, you know, dude, They were like this
- 21:12Speaker 3: guy want to be funny. And then Dame Damien recommended
- 21:18Speaker 3: me to his as uncles. They said, we got this
- 21:25Speaker 3: one movie called White Chicks that's going on. Man, you
- 21:28Speaker 3: can come in an audition for this, and the dude,
- 21:32Speaker 3: I got so many stories. Yeah, dude, of course. All
- 21:38Speaker 3: right now, I have been trying to get on a
- 21:41Speaker 3: TV show because we were like, man, I want to
- 21:45Speaker 3: because I was hopping from project to project whole thing.
- 21:48Speaker 3: So I was going, oh my god, if I can
- 21:50Speaker 3: get a TV show, and then my wife and kids
- 21:52Speaker 3: with Damon was looking for me, and my agent at
- 21:57Speaker 3: the time was like, dude, this is your job to lose.
- 21:59Speaker 3: They want you. They saw you and uh, Friday after
- 22:04Speaker 3: next and they said, oh my god, you got the heat. Dude.
- 22:09Speaker 3: I went in that thing and when I said bombed
- 22:15Speaker 3: the audition, oh my god. But like my hands were.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Like, what do you think that was? You feel like
- 22:22Speaker 1: your state of mind was like you really needed it?
- 22:25Speaker 3: Yes, you know, we lost the house. We had just
- 22:28Speaker 3: got into a rental and we were like and then
- 22:30Speaker 3: it was like, it's yours to lose.
- 22:33Speaker 2: That's sometimes sometimes that that works in the opposite way
- 22:37Speaker 2: it does to lose.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Like, so, is that supposed to make you more confident?
- 22:41Speaker 1: Yeah, for me, it makes me nervous.
- 22:42Speaker 3: You still got to hate me because I already was
- 22:45Speaker 3: shaky just about because I didn't have the training like
- 22:48Speaker 3: I you know, I'm acting with people who've been to
- 22:51Speaker 3: school for this, so I'm a little like, uh and
- 22:54Speaker 3: I'm watching on the fly, I'm looking at lips and
- 22:56Speaker 3: watching people's stuff and can I do this? I don't
- 22:59Speaker 3: know it's time that it's time for lunch. Okay, I'm
- 23:02Speaker 3: still learning the whole dude. And I went in there
- 23:07Speaker 3: uh uh, oh my god. And Kim Wayne's and all
- 23:12Speaker 3: of them, they're like, oh, I'll never forget her looks.
- 23:16Speaker 3: She's like soup. You can just see it like it's
- 23:21Speaker 3: all burning. And I was just like watching your.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Old We all have them, you know, we all had that.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Yes, yes, well it went up in flames and I
- 23:30Speaker 3: went and they just stopped, like thank you, they stopped.
- 23:38Speaker 3: That's okay. Yeah, and I knew I do one more time.
- 23:43Speaker 1: No, no, that's okay.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Now, guys, guys. I went to the car. I never
- 23:49Speaker 3: forget this, got in a car, stealed the eastside bath.
- 23:53Speaker 3: I said, I'm done. I quit. It's hurt too much.
- 23:58Speaker 3: This hurts way too much because I you know, because
- 24:02Speaker 3: you get to a point where you can taste it
- 24:03Speaker 3: and you're like the pain of that was because I
- 24:09Speaker 3: and you know, you go all night, you're practicing the
- 24:11Speaker 3: lines all night. I think I was prepared, you know
- 24:14Speaker 3: what I mean. You're old. You don't you're not even
- 24:16Speaker 3: they ain't putting your soul into it.
- 24:18Speaker 1: You're going and out of pilot, right because you're not
- 24:21Speaker 1: flowing at that point, right, because.
- 24:24Speaker 3: No, blow, it was terrible. And I said, I quit.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I quit. I just gotta find something else to do.
- 24:31Speaker 3: And I said, and my agent said, oh yeah, you
- 24:33Speaker 3: got one more audition I said, oh man, it's Crosstown.
- 24:37Speaker 3: You're gonna meet with Keenan. Now, I went, oh man.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Another way they talk to each other. They coach movie
- 24:44Speaker 3: called White Chicks, and I went, wait, this is what
- 24:48Speaker 3: you gotta think. It's a movie. I need a show.
- 24:52Speaker 3: But oh well, I just do another movie, like again Valliable.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I said, it'll It'll pay the bills for a couple
- 24:58Speaker 3: of months. I go over there with ken I don't
- 25:02Speaker 3: care no more. I'm like, I'm right right, I'm just
- 25:09Speaker 3: going in there. I'm like, look at said, oh.
- 25:11Speaker 1: That's what I a white girl with a black girls.
- 25:17Speaker 3: The boy was like oh, and I'm like, yeah, yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 3: all right, I'm just he said, can you do that?
- 25:24Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't care anymore. And then they called.
- 25:30Speaker 3: They say, hey man, you got this movie White Chicks.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Oh that's cool. Did I know? I did not know
- 25:38Speaker 3: it would change the course of my life forever. Because
- 25:42Speaker 3: I went up there and we shot in Vancouver again,
- 25:46Speaker 3: and we were shooting it for the Hamptons and the
- 25:48Speaker 3: whole thing. It was the best time I ever had. Now,
- 25:53Speaker 3: you gotta understand Keenan. Every ways, it's a starmaker. All
- 25:56Speaker 3: those guys in living color but j low and you
- 26:00Speaker 3: know they in fact, dude, I'm not a set I'm
- 26:05Speaker 3: not an SNL guy. I've always been an in living
- 26:08Speaker 3: color guy. Okay, so nothing beats in living color, you know.
- 26:12Speaker 3: So when I when I was up there and Damon
- 26:16Speaker 3: was like, dude, just do what you do, man, just
- 26:19Speaker 3: do what you do. You rocking this, I was like
- 26:21Speaker 3: whoa And I felt remember how my wife came to
- 26:25Speaker 3: me and said you can do this. When Keenan was
- 26:27Speaker 3: like you got this. I ain't to coach you, just
- 26:31Speaker 3: go and I was like who So he just.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Kind of let you invalidated, like you her instincts were
- 26:35Speaker 1: there in point You're locked in.
- 26:37Speaker 3: It was hitting? What hitting?
- 26:49Speaker 1: But I gotta tell you man, so like going back
- 26:51Speaker 1: to that movie, your performance had.
- 26:54Speaker 4: So many new houses that I was like, bro, that
- 26:59Speaker 4: hit me in so many ways, like the the like
- 27:03Speaker 4: you know when you were at the date, right like
- 27:05Speaker 4: you were at the date and you were just like really.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Committed to this day. You know, like that you look
- 27:11Speaker 1: across from you and it's like this monster.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Looks like a monster. He was a monster for the lady,
- 27:18Speaker 3: perhaps the silad. You know, everything we would go there
- 27:24Speaker 3: was no end, like, wait, that's only stuff they got
- 27:27Speaker 3: on camera. We was going and it was like yo,
- 27:33Speaker 3: Gus and Mark, Sean and Marlin were just you.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Were free to fly.
- 27:38Speaker 2: You were free yeah and that and you feel that
- 27:41Speaker 2: all those nuanceers that he's talking about was because he
- 27:43Speaker 2: was like, yo, just do or was that all like
- 27:46Speaker 2: on the page or he didn't direct you that way?
- 27:50Speaker 3: No, he he just trusted yea. He literally gave me
- 27:55Speaker 3: the green light. I said, so I could, so you
- 27:57Speaker 3: should because it wasn't no check, it wasn't no oh no.
- 28:00Speaker 3: That's you ever have a director come in and start
- 28:03Speaker 3: telling you lines how to say, yeah, man, you want it,
- 28:07Speaker 3: like let's find it, like let's let's put it on
- 28:09Speaker 3: his feet.
- 28:10Speaker 1: But some writers, and some comedy writers, they wrote it
- 28:13Speaker 1: and heard it and saw it a certain way in
- 28:15Speaker 1: their brain, and when an actor comes in to do
- 28:17Speaker 1: what the actor is supposed to do, they have a
- 28:19Speaker 1: tough time just like letting go of how it sounded
- 28:22Speaker 1: when they were in their laptop doing it, you know
- 28:25Speaker 1: what I mean. So for those times, you just you
- 28:28Speaker 1: really got to choose you, yeah, because if you choose
- 28:31Speaker 1: their way, you know that's where you are going to
- 28:35Speaker 1: not be able to sleep that night. Number two. You know,
- 28:37Speaker 1: you really can have a faulty you know, start at
- 28:40Speaker 1: that and then when you go to the premiere and
- 28:42Speaker 1: you look at that, you're like, that wasn't me. It
- 28:45Speaker 1: wasn't Yeah, yes exactly. That's why you got to always
- 28:49Speaker 1: choose yourself when you're on that screen. You got to
- 28:51Speaker 1: always say, like, you know, we had a whole episode
- 28:54Speaker 1: here we're talking about how do we talk to directors
- 28:56Speaker 1: when we let them know that their take is not
- 28:58Speaker 1: that you know, how do we sugarcoat that thing?
- 29:02Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 29:03Speaker 1: And the truth is like you got to talk about
- 29:04Speaker 1: it like within your own strength. It's got to be
- 29:07Speaker 1: your fault that you can't do it their way, but
- 29:10Speaker 1: you got to say like, hey, I uh, within my strengths,
- 29:14Speaker 1: like I'll be able to sell it more if I
- 29:16Speaker 1: could just go here, you know and then take it there.
- 29:18Speaker 1: But to your point, going back to your performances and now,
- 29:21Speaker 1: as we do like a mental beautiful you know, love
- 29:25Speaker 1: story colash of all your performances and all the parts
- 29:28Speaker 1: and all the moments if you've shown up, whether it's
- 29:29Speaker 1: like a cameo, whether it's like a great supporting part,
- 29:32Speaker 1: whether you're starting on your show, on your TV show
- 29:34Speaker 1: because also Brooklyn or I like we forget, like we
- 29:36Speaker 1: haven't even gotten to Brooklyn.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Now.
- 29:38Speaker 1: My point is like all these you know, all these
- 29:41Speaker 1: moments kind of ship up that like very few tough
- 29:46Speaker 1: guys can really dirty up, can also lighten up, can
- 29:50Speaker 1: also you know, be free to do coming in And
- 29:53Speaker 1: that's hard, dude. And you got to give yourself so
- 29:55Speaker 1: much grace so that you got to really really embrace
- 29:58Speaker 1: the fact that your gift was given because you decided
- 30:02Speaker 1: that you could fly.
- 30:04Speaker 3: One thing. I realized it's two things that equal one thing.
- 30:09Speaker 3: It's vulnerability and transparency equal intimacy. The more open you are,
- 30:18Speaker 3: the more intimate you become to be, so you're literally
- 30:21Speaker 3: you're performance. People are like wow, like because you're vulnerable
- 30:26Speaker 3: and you're transparent. And what I see now sometimes it's
- 30:31Speaker 3: just people try to be hard. And I knew that
- 30:35Speaker 3: wasn't the way for me. I knew the only way
- 30:39Speaker 3: I was going to differentiate myself from anybody else was
- 30:42Speaker 3: open open.
- 30:44Speaker 1: And I'll give you one more thing that you it
- 30:48Speaker 1: is you were honest from the beginning. You were so
- 30:53Speaker 1: honest with yourself for what you had and what you
- 30:56Speaker 1: didn't have that. You were so free in that moment
- 30:58Speaker 1: to just flow with your honesty and acting. It's all
- 31:03Speaker 1: about staying honest, right. You said stay loose, you know
- 31:06Speaker 1: this one thing and goes stay loose, stay loose in
- 31:09Speaker 1: you know, to stay loose, you gotta let go.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Yep, brother, I'm got me tell you. When I look
- 31:14Speaker 3: at you guys like Freddy for one, I mean, by
- 31:18Speaker 3: the time we got to work on Harsh Times, I
- 31:21Speaker 3: was already like the biggest fan, you know, dead Presidence,
- 31:25Speaker 3: the stuff he's done before. You just go, dude, this
- 31:27Speaker 3: is he's got real actors, you know what I mean,
- 31:29Speaker 3: him and Christian And I'm like, man, I just and see.
- 31:33Speaker 3: This is another thing. It's that you have to understand.
- 31:37Speaker 3: This is like pros. The pros. What I mean is
- 31:40Speaker 3: a quarterback. Don't want you to be like, oh that's
- 31:42Speaker 3: John l Way. Oh no, you hit him in the mouth, right,
- 31:47Speaker 3: that's that respects you if you hit him hard, hit
- 31:49Speaker 3: him real like don't And when we were in our
- 31:53Speaker 3: scene just we have one big scene in the movie,
- 31:56Speaker 3: but I had to come with it, Like I said,
- 31:59Speaker 3: I don't want to set these guys up as a
- 32:02Speaker 3: fan like I'm a fan. I said, no, man, I'm
- 32:06Speaker 3: we laid back like, okay, we were there all day,
- 32:10Speaker 3: but you just come like we're pros now, you know
- 32:14Speaker 3: what I'm saying. And you guys respected me so much
- 32:17Speaker 3: and it was vice versa and it was just like
- 32:20Speaker 3: when you have those moments, you know what I mean.
- 32:23Speaker 3: And this is why it's hard. Like I've been on
- 32:25Speaker 3: some movies where a comedian wants to be have all
- 32:28Speaker 3: the jokes and it's over like you know what I mean,
- 32:32Speaker 3: It's like I want all the president. No, this is
- 32:35Speaker 3: a given to This is why Brooklyn niney nine worked
- 32:37Speaker 3: so many ways because we handed each other. It's the
- 32:40Speaker 3: lib is coming to you. But Lissa boom, she dunk it.
- 32:44Speaker 3: You know what I mean. Andy was set this whole
- 32:46Speaker 3: thing up, so all the four people are getting it.
- 32:50Speaker 3: This is that it's a beautiful dance.
- 32:53Speaker 1: And product about the product getting it there.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Yes, sell it there, but.
- 33:01Speaker 2: But there's a humility that comes with that. So you
- 33:03Speaker 2: have to have a humility enough to go. It's about
- 33:06Speaker 2: the product and it's not about me necessarily.
- 33:09Speaker 3: And that's what I remember.
- 33:11Speaker 2: About you when we did that movie together and me
- 33:13Speaker 2: and Christian Bale doing that scene with you was was.
- 33:17Speaker 2: I just remember you coming from a very honest place.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Whether you were a seasoned thespian or not, like that
- 33:25Speaker 2: didn't matter to us. It was your energy and what
- 33:28Speaker 2: you were doing was very honest. And when Christian and
- 33:31Speaker 2: I would throw stuff at you, you were like a
- 33:33Speaker 2: good tennis player and you would you would throw it
- 33:35Speaker 2: right back.
- 33:36Speaker 3: I don't know if you remember.
- 33:37Speaker 1: We had improv a couple of things, yea.
- 33:40Speaker 2: And I remember seeing a Christian like like smile on
- 33:44Speaker 2: the side and I was like, oh, Christian's on board man,
- 33:47Speaker 2: and we had like this beautiful interaction between us three.
- 33:50Speaker 3: You know. It was so beautiful that Christian put me
- 33:53Speaker 3: in terminator right after that. Oh no, this, yeah, I see.
- 33:59Speaker 1: I show you that.
- 34:01Speaker 2: This is us three there having a time man with
- 34:06Speaker 2: me and uh with with with me and Christian.
- 34:08Speaker 3: There and he was this big, lazy, kind of smoking
- 34:13Speaker 3: all day dude, and he just knew what was up.
- 34:15Speaker 3: You know.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I'll tell you a funny story about this day when
- 34:18Speaker 2: Terry came. Remember we shot all of it in the hood, right,
- 34:21Speaker 2: and there was these kids that were there, and these
- 34:24Speaker 2: kids and Christian was always he's such a good dude, right,
- 34:28Speaker 2: it's just the nicest guy in the world. And there
- 34:30Speaker 2: was these kids that were there playing around, and I
- 34:32Speaker 2: don't know if you remember, man, it was me, you
- 34:34Speaker 2: and him and we're hanging out outside and we were
- 34:36Speaker 2: telling the.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Kids, Hey, you see that guy, he's Batman.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Yea imber that and the kids were like, no, he's
- 34:43Speaker 2: not because the movie hadn't come out yet.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Batman shot but the.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Movie hadn't come out yet, so we would go with
- 34:50Speaker 2: him to like Starbucks. No one would recognize him.
- 34:55Speaker 3: He has a different kind of look. Yeah.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I remember being at that line at Starbucks going like, Wow,
- 35:00Speaker 2: in a couple of months, you're never going to be
- 35:02Speaker 2: able to do this again. And and and the kids
- 35:05Speaker 2: were all like, he's not Batman, your Badman, And.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Christian is a different level, dude. It's just a
- 35:17Speaker 1: different way. And and and you know to put on
- 35:20Speaker 1: to put on that cape and do it on that level.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I mean he was I believe them. I believe them
- 35:28Speaker 1: as Badman. I wanted to be Badman forever.
- 35:29Speaker 3: One of the best best ever doing.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Yeah man, and someone who's who deserves like. I love
- 35:35Speaker 2: when people are cool and like and then you see
- 35:38Speaker 2: them be successful because then you root for them, you know, right.
- 35:41Speaker 2: And he's just such a good dude that I was
- 35:43Speaker 2: like just seeing him be successful after that.
- 35:45Speaker 3: You know, you just you know, man, I ran into
- 35:50Speaker 3: Christian at the Ecademy Awards and it was a few
- 35:54Speaker 3: years back, and it was so wonderful because he said,
- 35:57Speaker 3: what's up, man, he says, and you know what was
- 36:00Speaker 3: the man? I get these moments like and it's not
- 36:03Speaker 3: about selfies, it's not about just like these these are mine.
- 36:08Speaker 3: I get to take them with me, you know.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Uh.
- 36:10Speaker 3: And he's like, tee, my daughter is here. She's the
- 36:13Speaker 3: biggest Brooklyn nine nine bad. Can you take a picture
- 36:18Speaker 3: with my daughter? And I'm glad Christian, come on, bring
- 36:21Speaker 3: her over. This is great. And he's just because you know, you, hey,
- 36:25Speaker 3: if you could please your babies, of course. Yeah. And
- 36:30Speaker 3: he was just looking at me like, oh, thank you
- 36:32Speaker 3: so much. I'm going so cool, your Christian Bale man
- 36:36Speaker 3: and his daughter came over like oh, like and I'm
- 36:39Speaker 3: going this is crazy, Like don't listen. Love everything you do,
- 36:46Speaker 3: don't hate on I don't hate on anything. When people
- 36:50Speaker 3: say you just got to sing the song again, I'll
- 36:52Speaker 3: sing a song for the rest of my life. Thousand
- 36:56Speaker 3: miles because it's special. Listen, man, Oh my god, I
- 37:02Speaker 3: had people, Oh my god, I'm sorry. People come to
- 37:08Speaker 3: me and they're like, I lost my son. But the favorite,
- 37:14Speaker 3: the only thing we used to do. We sit and
- 37:16Speaker 3: watch all your movies, and every time I see you,
- 37:20Speaker 3: it reminds me of all the good times I have him.
- 37:23Speaker 3: I'm like, it's that kind of stuff. I don't ever
- 37:29Speaker 3: ever you listen, man, sing the damn song, do the thing,
- 37:33Speaker 3: you know what I mean. They're like, hey man, you
- 37:35Speaker 3: know me for that, you like me for that? Awesome?
- 37:38Speaker 3: But I can't stand when people go like, oh you
- 37:41Speaker 3: like that? Oh you know, like, hey man, no, don't
- 37:44Speaker 3: hate on any of this stuff. Man, it's it's special.
- 37:48Speaker 3: It's special, like you are healing people with whatever. Wait,
- 37:53Speaker 3: dramatic and comedic, you know what I mean. You got
- 37:56Speaker 3: to watch dramas so you can sort your own stuff.
- 37:59Speaker 3: You gotta watch comy to sort your stuff out. And
- 38:02Speaker 3: it's just that's what it's what entertainment is, you know
- 38:05Speaker 3: what I mean. It's therapy. Yeah, in so many ways,
- 38:08Speaker 3: and I go, this is deeper than I ever imagined. Yeah,
- 38:12Speaker 3: but understand what this is, you know what I mean,
- 38:15Speaker 3: you know you're not a doctor. No, you're not a lawyer,
- 38:18Speaker 3: but do you're healing people like something when people come
- 38:21Speaker 3: up to you and they enjoy it. Wait twenty years later, yeah, Ever.
- 38:28Speaker 1: All the profession in the planet can actually have this
- 38:32Speaker 1: ripples the far way you are far gone from this earth,
- 38:37Speaker 1: the echoes of what you did on that soundstage, on
- 38:39Speaker 1: that set, on that location, on that hosting gig, on
- 38:43Speaker 1: that little sketch or whatever it was, the echoes of
- 38:46Speaker 1: you are going to be living on and on and
- 38:48Speaker 1: you and you get to you get to find someone
- 38:51Speaker 1: alone the way far when you're gone that really needed
- 38:55Speaker 1: to see you in that role in that moment. And
- 38:58Speaker 1: then we could obviously go here five more.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Adults, you know, and I will tell you.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I tell you this, but but I mean like this rightfully.
- 39:07Speaker 1: So this is this, uh you know, this this episode
- 39:10Speaker 1: or two because I think we're gonna have to break down.
- 39:13Speaker 1: You know, I can talk no, no, no, no, a podcast
- 39:16Speaker 1: because this is your show. This is the point, right
- 39:18Speaker 1: The point is to pay tribute to you. The point
- 39:20Speaker 1: is to to to create a space where we can
- 39:22Speaker 1: reminisce so we can we can dig deeper than and
- 39:25Speaker 1: you know, look, we've all we all have a very
- 39:27Speaker 1: similar story, right, we all came from very little man,
- 39:31Speaker 1: very zero, you know. And and the fact that we
- 39:35Speaker 1: you know, very later in our lives, we can we
- 39:37Speaker 1: can somehow continue to meet in a winning circle. Like
- 39:40Speaker 1: that's that's something that really is is beautiful. And I
- 39:43Speaker 1: just want to say, you know, congratulations on on the
- 39:47Speaker 1: on the I mean, two decades to three decades of
- 39:51Speaker 1: entertainment that you've you're given all of us. And obviously
- 39:53Speaker 1: you're a brother, man, and this is your house, and
- 39:56Speaker 1: we're so stoked that you accepted.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Man.
- 40:00Speaker 2: I've known you for two decades and uh, you've always
- 40:03Speaker 2: been the same person. I have so much love for you, bro,
- 40:08Speaker 2: I have so much respect for you. And I called
- 40:10Speaker 2: and you came, man, And that's a testament to you
- 40:13Speaker 2: as a human being and your integrity as a human being.
- 40:17Speaker 3: And we both have married a.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Long time and we've had such wonderful conversations about that,
- 40:22Speaker 2: but again more of a testament to your character, Matsell,
