- 1:45Speaker 3: A little bit of shifting around this morning. I had
- 1:48Speaker 3: Steven Allan Adams from aug to the newspaper schedule to
- 1:50Speaker 3: be on the show. We talked about that yesterday, but
- 1:53Speaker 3: we had to slide in a different guest, and so
- 1:54Speaker 3: I talked to Steven, and he, being the true pro
- 1:57Speaker 3: that he is, he said, that's okay, I'll give up
- 2:00Speaker 3: time and so perceive. I do appreciate that I had
- 2:03Speaker 3: added to the show this morning a Democratic candidate for

- 2:47Speaker 3: Wheeler Commission, Good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Morning Dave. How are you doing.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I'm doing fine. Thank you for being here. I know
- 2:51Speaker 3: there's several things that we want to get to this morning,
- 2:54Speaker 3: but I do want to talk about the next in
- 2:56Speaker 3: a series of County cleanup efforts. Now, we had one
- 3:00Speaker 3: couple weeks ago. The second one is going to be
- 3:02Speaker 3: in the South Charleston area and that is this Saturday.
- 3:06Speaker 3: It's located at the intersection of C Street and Fourth Avenue.
- 3:11Speaker 3: That's behind Speedway there in South Charleston. But we want
- 3:14Speaker 3: people to understand that just because the you know, the
- 3:17Speaker 3: setup is in South Charleston, anybody can can come there.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely anyone here in Connall County that wants to
- 3:24Speaker 5: recycle or get rid of trash debris, whether it's been
- 3:28Speaker 5: collected in your garage, whether it's in the backyard. You know,
- 3:31Speaker 5: we get a lot of people saying, thanks for having these.
- 3:33Speaker 5: My wife's been wanting me to get rid of this
- 3:35Speaker 5: all year. These are This is why we do this
- 3:37Speaker 5: because we want to make sure that we offer this
- 3:39Speaker 5: service to everyone here in Kannall County. And also we
- 3:42Speaker 5: know that it's going to be environmental in a way
- 3:44Speaker 5: that a lot of the times, we don't want this
- 3:46Speaker 5: trash on the side of the road. We don't want
- 3:47Speaker 5: these tires in the creeks and the rivers. Not only
- 3:50Speaker 5: is that it doesn't look bad, but it also causes
- 3:54Speaker 5: flooding down the road and so this really checks a
- 3:57Speaker 5: lot of boxes. And that's why these kind of commission
- 3:59Speaker 5: has been proud for for decades now to have these
- 4:02Speaker 5: county cleanups in the fall and in the spring. I'd
- 4:05Speaker 5: like to talk a little bit about the numbers from
- 4:06Speaker 5: trips ago. Yeah, on September seventh, you know, I came
- 4:09Speaker 5: one here two weeks ago. Talk about it and thanks
- 4:11Speaker 5: for doing that, because we saw extreme numbers this year
- 4:14Speaker 5: compared to other falls. We had eight hundred and fifty
- 4:17Speaker 5: eight cars drive through, dropping off debris, recycling, metal, air conditioners, refrigerators.
- 4:24Speaker 5: You named eight and fifty eight different vehicles. Well, so
- 4:27Speaker 5: we count how many vehicles come through. We do know
- 4:29Speaker 5: that a lot of people like to come in more
- 4:31Speaker 5: than once. Yeah, and that's perfectly fine.
- 4:33Speaker 3: So it's still considered a trip, so to speak. It's
- 4:35Speaker 3: still a one hundred and fifty visits, We'll say.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Yes, and that's a that's a lot of cars, it's
- 4:40Speaker 5: a lot of trash that we looked at. Thirteen hundred
- 4:43Speaker 5: tires were recycled with the dp's REP program, which we're
- 4:46Speaker 5: very grateful for them to be there. It's thirteen hundred tires.
- 4:49Speaker 5: It's not going to be on the side of the road,
- 4:50Speaker 5: not going to be in our rivers, in our lakes.
- 4:53Speaker 5: You know, this is something that's it's just good to have.
- 4:56Speaker 5: We also had twenty three tons. It's twenty three tons
- 5:00Speaker 5: of metal that was collected just two weeks ago on
- 5:04Speaker 5: the September seventh. And know, for you, these are astonishing numbers.
- 5:08Speaker 5: We're seeing more and more, and so we're grateful that
- 5:10Speaker 5: people are participating because it just makes it easier and
- 5:13Speaker 5: easier for this kind of commissioner with you know, commission
- 5:16Speaker 5: Commissioner slot Nick, Commissioner Slango myself, to keep these going
- 5:20Speaker 5: every year.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Wow, that's some incredible numbers. I appreciate you bringing that
- 5:24Speaker 3: to the table here now. As you said the last
- 5:25Speaker 3: time you're here, it's probably quicker commissioner to give the
- 5:28Speaker 3: folks a list of what you don't take rather than
- 5:31Speaker 3: just what you do. Partial list and correct me if
- 5:33Speaker 3: I'm wrong in this of what you won't accept gas
- 5:36Speaker 3: and propane tanks, any hazardous waste or paint chemicals, motor oil.
- 5:42Speaker 3: And also keep in mind that this is designed for
- 5:44Speaker 3: residential folks and not for businesses. Other than that, it's
- 5:48Speaker 3: pretty much anything goes right. And I would say over
- 5:50Speaker 3: the years they've done this, they've probably had some pretty
- 5:52Speaker 3: Maybe you should start a list of most unique items.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Yeah, electronics are accepted. And we have a lot of
- 5:59Speaker 5: people bringing broken TVs. How many TVs have a bad
- 6:03Speaker 5: pixel a line?
- 6:04Speaker 3: You used to be back in the day, you take
- 6:05Speaker 3: it and get it fixed. Now it's they're so cheap,
- 6:07Speaker 3: you're like, well, let's just go buy a new one, you.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Know, And a lot of times you don't buy a
- 6:10Speaker 5: new one, you don't get rid of it until you've
- 6:12Speaker 5: bought the new ones. You get the new one, you
- 6:14Speaker 5: put it up, you take the old one off, and
- 6:15Speaker 5: you go, I'll take care of it later. It might
- 6:17Speaker 5: be sitting in your garage, it might be sitting somewhere.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Go ahead, pick that thing up. Come bring it this
- 6:22Speaker 5: weekend in South Charleston, right behind the speedway on the
- 6:25Speaker 5: C Street and Fourth Avenue.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And what time do you start again, We're going to.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Start eight eight am, okay, and it's going to go
- 6:30Speaker 4: to a four pm.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I also want to get this in here. I saw
- 6:33Speaker 3: this in the social media from the city of Nitro
- 6:36Speaker 3: just down the road. They're also going to get involved
- 6:38Speaker 3: and they're doing a thing. They're at their public Works
- 6:41Speaker 3: on Saturday from seven to three, So if that's more community,
- 6:44Speaker 3: you can go there as well. But we do want
- 6:46Speaker 3: to you know, you folks have the Commission do a
- 6:48Speaker 3: great job of having these things at different locations. The
- 6:51Speaker 3: last one, as you said, was an LVU. This one's
- 6:53Speaker 3: in South Charleston, but you don't have to live in
- 6:55Speaker 3: South Charleston. I mean you could live in Saint Albans
- 6:57Speaker 3: or wherever to take it there this Saturday.
- 7:00Speaker 5: No, we're going to be the one three fall cleanups.
- 7:03Speaker 5: We've already done the one l F. This is Sell Charleston.
- 7:06Speaker 5: We do this because we try to spread it out
- 7:08Speaker 5: as much as possible. Now I'll understand we can't do
- 7:10Speaker 5: this in the middle of downtown Charleston, R right. I
- 7:12Speaker 5: mean logistically that would be easiest for everybody, But we
- 7:15Speaker 5: try to find these locations that we're able to hold it.
- 7:17Speaker 5: I mean, if you haven't attended one, you should definitely
- 7:20Speaker 5: just go and see it. I mean, it's a It's
- 7:22Speaker 5: magnificent what our Planning and Development Office is able to
- 7:25Speaker 5: do with so many different partners. You know, we have
- 7:28Speaker 5: we actually have it where you can bring an AC unit,
- 7:31Speaker 5: an AC conditioner unit and they'll actually take the free
- 7:33Speaker 5: on out to make sure that it's able to go
- 7:35Speaker 5: to either recycling or a landfill. We do lots and
- 7:39Speaker 5: lots of different things, and again things that we can't
- 7:42Speaker 5: take that we get a lot of requests for. You know,
- 7:44Speaker 5: if you've got some paint that you just didn't use,
- 7:46Speaker 5: all up that paint in that that gallon of a paint,
- 7:49Speaker 5: you can't bring that. We can't dispose of paint, no
- 7:52Speaker 5: hazardous materials and no chemicals. But anything outside of that, electronics,
- 7:58Speaker 5: you know, air conditioners, refrigerators. I said this two weeks
- 8:02Speaker 5: ago in your show. We had somebody come in and
- 8:03Speaker 5: bring a little John boat in I mean, and.
- 8:06Speaker 3: We took care of it.
- 8:06Speaker 5: Mattresses, you know, things that you have collecting around your
- 8:10Speaker 5: house that you need to get rid of that sometimes
- 8:12Speaker 5: it's just difficult to get rid of on trash day
- 8:14Speaker 5: for yourself. Bring it over to us. We'll take care
- 8:17Speaker 5: of it. And again this is free for everybody. Nobody's
- 8:20Speaker 5: going to be charged, and everybody's free to come.
- 8:24Speaker 3: How many people does it take to pull this off?
- 8:25Speaker 3: I mean they're actually working that particular day, because I
- 8:28Speaker 3: would imagine, I mean, there'll be people that just bring
- 8:31Speaker 3: a box of stuff, but there's also going to be
- 8:33Speaker 3: people with trailers, and there's gonna be people with their
- 8:35Speaker 3: pickup trucks loaded down. How many people does it take,
- 8:37Speaker 3: Commissioner to pull this off?
- 8:39Speaker 5: Well, it also takes first it starts with our Planning
- 8:42Speaker 5: and Development office and Dave Workman is our director. He
- 8:46Speaker 5: does an excellent job with this, He's been doing this
- 8:48Speaker 5: for years. Then the entire staff will be there. We
- 8:51Speaker 5: also work with West Virginia and Deep a lot of
- 8:53Speaker 5: times with their reprogram. Is how we are able to
- 8:56Speaker 5: recycle the tires. We work with some of the AC
- 9:00Speaker 5: guys in the area who will come as vendors where
- 9:02Speaker 5: they will take care of removing the free on from
- 9:05Speaker 5: these AC conditioners. We work with another group that comes
- 9:08Speaker 5: in for they just recycle just the electronics and so
- 9:12Speaker 5: whether it's a printer or whether it's a cell phone,
- 9:16Speaker 5: anything that they can be an electronic, they'll take care
- 9:18Speaker 5: of that. Then we have all of our waste managements
- 9:21Speaker 5: in the area. I mean, the City of Saint Albans
- 9:24Speaker 5: helps us. The City of Charleston helps us with these
- 9:27Speaker 5: packer trucks. They let them let us use them for
- 9:30Speaker 5: the day. I mean, there's a lot of moving parts
- 9:32Speaker 5: to this, and I mean the first time that I went,
- 9:35Speaker 5: when I was first elected, I was astonished just how
- 9:38Speaker 5: much planning goes into this and how well it's one.
- 9:42Speaker 5: I mean, you go in, you get The longest part
- 9:44Speaker 5: is the line itself. Once you get in, they take
- 9:47Speaker 5: care of you instantly. They will remove all the debris
- 9:50Speaker 5: out of your car. You don't have to get out,
- 9:54Speaker 5: it's easy. You literally just walk you You just drive in,
- 9:57Speaker 5: You sit in your car, they tell you where to
- 9:59Speaker 5: park it and they'll have everything removed and then you're
- 10:01Speaker 5: just ear out. And so there's a lot of planning
- 10:03Speaker 5: to this and they do a great job.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Talking to County Commission President Lance Wheeler, It's nine to
- 10:07Speaker 3: seventeen Dave Alan Show and five eighty Live brought to
- 10:10Speaker 3: you in part by Pinnacle Consultants. They're lead paint inspection
- 10:13Speaker 3: risk assessment services are designed to identify and to assess
- 10:16Speaker 3: the presence of lead based paint and buildings and other
- 10:18Speaker 3: structures using a three phase approach of inspection, sampling, the
- 10:22Speaker 3: lab analysis, and an assessment report. Visit Pinnacle Corp dot net.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Because what you don't know ken hurt. You've got a
- 10:27Speaker 3: couple of text here for you, Commissioner. Right again, let's
- 10:29Speaker 3: do tex, says Dave ask Lance. He may not know why,
- 10:33Speaker 3: but all that emptied land there in South Charleston is
- 10:35Speaker 3: that empty for years and not developed? What a pickup
- 10:38Speaker 3: junk is going to be behind the speedway I visit
- 10:41Speaker 3: from Florida, says the texture, and it's been like that forever.
- 10:43Speaker 3: You know anything about that property?
- 10:44Speaker 4: Well, first off, they're absolutely correct.
- 10:46Speaker 5: It has been like that forever, and I don't know
- 10:49Speaker 5: exactly who owns that. But that's something that we've actually
- 10:52Speaker 5: been working with recently. And I say recently, I mean
- 10:55Speaker 5: within the last couple of weeks. We've been looking in
- 10:57Speaker 5: my office of how we can find this type of
- 11:00Speaker 5: land and figure out how we can maybe market this
- 11:03Speaker 5: to developers. Now, this is an early stage, and I
- 11:06Speaker 5: wouldn't be talking about it if I didn't get a
- 11:08Speaker 5: text message about it. But this is something we're working on,
- 11:10Speaker 5: and we're looking all across this county of different land
- 11:14Speaker 5: that is opportunity for redevelopment, whether it's a business, whether
- 11:18Speaker 5: it's residential, whatever it might be. We want to look
- 11:21Speaker 5: at finding these sites because what we've realized is When
- 11:24Speaker 5: we talk to developers outside the state and we say, hey,
- 11:27Speaker 5: would you come to West Virginia, They'll say, well, what
- 11:29Speaker 5: do you have? They're not going to do the work
- 11:32Speaker 5: and the due diligence, And I understand that, I respect that,
- 11:35Speaker 5: but that's on you, that's on us, and so that's
- 11:38Speaker 5: going to be our job and that's something that we're
- 11:39Speaker 5: going to be doing moving forward. You're seeing it with
- 11:42Speaker 5: our tourism.
- 11:42Speaker 4: You know.
- 11:43Speaker 5: I brought in Kerry Smith with our new executive director
- 11:45Speaker 5: for CVB. She's more than just sending out ads and
- 11:48Speaker 5: telling people to come here. We're looking at how can
- 11:51Speaker 5: we use her to find those hot spots of people
- 11:54Speaker 5: coming into the state, people living in a state and
- 11:57Speaker 5: showing this to developers and saying, hey, we have something
- 12:00Speaker 5: as here, we have an investment that is prime opportunity
- 12:03Speaker 5: for you. Are you willing to put that money in?
- 12:05Speaker 5: And I think if we do that work on the
- 12:07Speaker 5: back end, then we're going to be able to start
- 12:08Speaker 5: really seeing here in the next couple of years some
- 12:11Speaker 5: real development here to Connall County. But it's going to
- 12:13Speaker 5: take some time. And this site that was just mentioned
- 12:16Speaker 5: this is a good one to look at.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Tex says, where can we dispose of old rush to
- 12:20Speaker 3: pro paying tanks for grills?
- 12:22Speaker 4: You know, that's a great question.
- 12:23Speaker 5: I don't know where you can do that, but if
- 12:25Speaker 5: you will call my office at the County Commission asked
- 12:28Speaker 5: for Megan East at my assistant, we'll get an answer
- 12:31Speaker 5: for you on that one.
- 12:32Speaker 3: All right, just call the County Commission Texter before we
- 12:34Speaker 3: let you go. What else is going on? I know
- 12:36Speaker 3: there was the commission, some of the commissions took part
- 12:39Speaker 3: in a groundbreaking of the old Caski property yesterday. I've
- 12:41Speaker 3: got a little news out of about that. I'm going
- 12:43Speaker 3: to get in that a little bit to a little
- 12:45Speaker 3: bit later on what's going to go on there, But
- 12:47Speaker 3: it's pretty big for downtown Charles.
- 12:48Speaker 5: Let's talk about a piece of property that was actually
- 12:51Speaker 5: owned a lot of people don't know is owned by
- 12:52Speaker 5: Charleston Aaray Alliance, which is a partnership economic development with
- 12:56Speaker 5: the county and the City of Charleston. And what we
- 12:58Speaker 5: did was we saw that we owned a building that
- 13:02Speaker 5: needed a lot of deferred maintenance. It needed a new roof,
- 13:05Speaker 5: it needed a new AC and an air conditioning unit.
- 13:08Speaker 5: For that isn't five thousand like it is ten thousand
- 13:10Speaker 5: or fifteen thousand for your home. This is a you know,
- 13:13Speaker 5: those were multimillion dollar deferred maintenance. We were reached out
- 13:18Speaker 5: from tc Inergy saying, hey, we're interested in bringing jobs
- 13:21Speaker 5: to Kanaal County. We're interested in bringing some new development,
- 13:24Speaker 5: and really and honesty, at the end of the day,
- 13:26Speaker 5: it was a no brainer.
- 13:27Speaker 4: It made sense.
- 13:28Speaker 5: I'm glad that we took a piece of property and
- 13:30Speaker 5: gave it to the private sector and we've brought jobs
- 13:32Speaker 5: here to Kanaal County. So thank them for their development.
- 13:35Speaker 5: I think I've seen the blueprints. It looks amazing. I
- 13:38Speaker 5: think it's beautiful. Unfortunately, and a lot of people asked
- 13:41Speaker 5: the Caski Building, how could we not have just saved that.
- 13:43Speaker 5: It was just going to cost taxpayer so much money.
- 13:46Speaker 5: There's no need for that. Let's give it back to
- 13:48Speaker 5: the private sector and let's get jobs here in Kanaal County.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Commission President, Lance wheel it's always been a pleasure to

- 17:47Speaker 4: It's great to be here, Dave, thank you.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I got to do a little take care of little
- 17:50Speaker 3: business before I get to you. Okay, today's my thirty
- 17:54Speaker 3: second wedding anniversary. Oo, and I have got to wish
- 17:57Speaker 3: my wife Grethan a very very happy anniversary. Thirty two
- 18:00Speaker 3: years ago today she signed.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Up for this.
- 18:02Speaker 3: I don't know what she was thinking. She had a vision, Yes,
- 18:07Speaker 3: she has lots of visions when it comes to me,
- 18:09Speaker 3: but yeah, I got to take care of that thirty
- 18:11Speaker 3: two years today.
- 18:12Speaker 4: So well, there you go. That's a great reminder. I'm
- 18:14Speaker 4: coming up on number four myself here next month.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Well talk to me when you get up to as
- 18:18Speaker 3: long as I have. Again, Glenn Elliott is here. I
- 18:21Speaker 3: do want to mention that you're in town for a
- 18:23Speaker 3: variety of things. One of those things is you're going
- 18:24Speaker 3: to be opening up your new campaign headquarters thirty eight
- 18:26Speaker 3: to twenty mccorkil Avenue. Two openings I understand today, one
- 18:30Speaker 3: from noon to two, and then you're going to come
- 18:32Speaker 3: back for the second round I guess from six to eight.
- 18:35Speaker 4: Talk about that.
- 18:36Speaker 10: That's correct, it's actually a thirty eight to twenty two mccorkel.
- 18:39Speaker 10: We decided, well, I mean, we've been running in this
- 18:41Speaker 10: campaign since January, and running a statewide campaign from Wheeling
- 18:44Speaker 10: is challenging just given our geographic location. We've been spending
- 18:48Speaker 10: so much time on the road. So we really felt
- 18:49Speaker 10: that having a more central location for this final stretch
- 18:52Speaker 10: made sense. We found a space that works. It's a
- 18:54Speaker 10: pretty visible location there on mccorkel, and so we've had
- 18:58Speaker 10: a lot of folks down here offering to volunteer, help
- 19:01Speaker 10: us make calls and postcards and all the other stuff
- 19:02Speaker 10: you have to do in the closing stretch of a campaign.
- 19:04Speaker 10: So it just made sense. We're gonna open that today
- 19:07Speaker 10: at noon and then again at six. I'm really excited
- 19:10Speaker 10: just to get, you know, a southern base of operation
- 19:13Speaker 10: for us so we can be down here and work
- 19:14Speaker 10: out of this office going forward, because we need to
- 19:17Speaker 10: and during this last what is it now, forty eight
- 19:19Speaker 10: days of this campaign, you know, we need to be
- 19:21Speaker 10: you know, where the voters are meeting them in their locations,
- 19:24Speaker 10: and there's a lot of voters down here. There's a
- 19:26Speaker 10: lot of voters in a Huntington area so we're gonna
- 19:27Speaker 10: be down here a lot. You know, the folks up
- 19:29Speaker 10: at Wheeling pretty much have a pretty good idea of
- 19:31Speaker 10: who I am, but I need to make sure that
- 19:32Speaker 10: the folks down this part of the state know as well.
- 19:34Speaker 3: And who are you. I mean, you've been on the
- 19:36Speaker 3: show in the past, but I want people to if
- 19:38Speaker 3: a case they didn't, he just give us the basic
- 19:39Speaker 3: bio on Glenn Elliott.
- 19:40Speaker 10: Sure, I'll try to give you the condensed version. Born
- 19:42Speaker 10: and raised in Wheeling, it's my hometown. Went to I
- 19:45Speaker 10: went away to college, and then I landed an internship
- 19:48Speaker 10: with Senator Robert Byrd back in the nineteen nineties, first
- 19:52Speaker 10: job out of college. Worked with him for five years.
- 19:56Speaker 10: Really shaped my views on a lot of things. In
- 19:58Speaker 10: the power of this particular it seat to help West Virginia.
- 20:01Speaker 10: I went to law school at Georgetown, did the big
- 20:04Speaker 10: law firm thing for a while in DC, but kind
- 20:06Speaker 10: of got tired of that. Moved back to Wheeling in
- 20:08Speaker 10: two thousand and nine. In my thirties, and I really
- 20:11Speaker 10: got involved in, you know, bringing Wheeling back. Wheeling was
- 20:14Speaker 10: a city, like so many that had a very you know,
- 20:16Speaker 10: vibrant mid twentieth century then saw a lot of industrial
- 20:19Speaker 10: decline and then which led to the decline of our
- 20:21Speaker 10: downtown by the end of the twentieth century. And so
- 20:24Speaker 10: I got involved, bought an old vacant building and Wheeling
- 20:27Speaker 10: made up my home and my project that got involved
- 20:29Speaker 10: in city politics. Ran from mayor in twenty sixteen, I
- 20:32Speaker 10: got elected, got re elected in twenty twenty. I couldn't
- 20:34Speaker 10: run for a third term, but I mean I was
- 20:36Speaker 10: planning really to step aside from politics, and then Senator
- 20:39Speaker 10: Mansion I announced that he wasn't going to seek reelection,
- 20:42Speaker 10: and I really thought of a lot about the seat.
- 20:43Speaker 10: A Number one, I used to work in the Senate.
- 20:45Speaker 10: I know how it works. I know you know what
- 20:47Speaker 10: you can do with that seat. And also I've worked
- 20:49Speaker 10: with a Senator Mansion and Senator Capital in my capacity
- 20:51Speaker 10: as mayor of Wheeling, So I have an appreciation for
- 20:53Speaker 10: what cities need. And I really felt like I was
- 20:56Speaker 10: the right candidate at the right time. I recognize I'd
- 20:59Speaker 10: likely be running again very popular governor, but I really
- 21:02Speaker 10: think if Western new voters look at this campaign and
- 21:05Speaker 10: look at the two choices that they have, there's really
- 21:07Speaker 10: no doubt about who is more qualified.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Talking again with the US sent the candidate Glenn Allie.
- 21:12Speaker 3: And you've been talking a lot as you've been out
- 21:14Speaker 3: on the road and social media and so on and
- 21:16Speaker 3: so forth, Glenn, about the financial issues of Governor Justice.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I'll give you a chance to weigh in on that.
- 21:21Speaker 4: If you wish well. I mean, look, you know we
- 21:25Speaker 4: are Being a US senator is an honor.
- 21:28Speaker 10: And if you have a record of not paying your taxes,
- 21:31Speaker 10: not paying your bills, taking money from your employees' health
- 21:34Speaker 10: insurance premiums to use on some other purpose, that is
- 21:38Speaker 10: the image we're going to be sending to Washington as
- 21:40Speaker 10: a reflection on West Virginia. I don't think that's what. Look,
- 21:44Speaker 10: our state has an image problem nationwide to begin with,
- 21:47Speaker 10: sending someone there who's so who's just so riddled with
- 21:50Speaker 10: with ethical lapses and financial improprieties, and sending someone there
- 21:55Speaker 10: who quite frankly, doesn't put in the work. The governor
- 21:58Speaker 10: rarely shows up in Charleston here to do it like
- 22:00Speaker 10: the job he currently has. He tries to do that
- 22:02Speaker 10: job from Louisbourg. You cannot be an effective senator from Lewisbourg.
- 22:07Speaker 10: You have to actually go to Washington and put in
- 22:10Speaker 10: the work, and I think if someone is so compromised
- 22:13Speaker 10: with debts to Russian and Saturaba in other places, I
- 22:17Speaker 10: doubt even get a security clearance to get intelligence briefings.
- 22:20Speaker 10: As a US senator, I don't think he is who
- 22:22Speaker 10: we want to send to Washington to represent our state.
- 22:25Speaker 10: I recognize that he is popular, but it's mostly popularity
- 22:28Speaker 10: based on him going around handing out checks with his
- 22:32Speaker 10: folksy platitudes and you know, taking photo ops with a dog.
- 22:35Speaker 10: He's not really if you listen to him. He rarely
- 22:37Speaker 10: says much of substance. He doesn't put in the work.
- 22:39Speaker 10: He doesn't even get to work. He hasn't even put
- 22:42Speaker 10: in the work getting to know members of his own party.
- 22:44Speaker 10: He has a supermajority Republican legislature right now, and he's
- 22:47Speaker 10: having a hard time convincing them to do a tax cut.
- 22:49Speaker 10: When did that ever happen? You know, there's just not
- 22:53Speaker 10: a work ethic there that's going to translate into being
- 22:56Speaker 10: an effective senator. Whether you like Senator Bird or not,
- 22:58Speaker 10: whether you like Senator Match or not, you cannot argue
- 23:01Speaker 10: that there are two men who showed up each and
- 23:03Speaker 10: every day, who built relationships across the aisle, you know,
- 23:06Speaker 10: who are able to deliver for this date.
- 23:08Speaker 4: I don't see any of those ingredients of governor justice.
- 23:10Speaker 10: So I do think if people look at this race,
- 23:12Speaker 10: look at my record at Wheeling of bipartisan and accomplishments
- 23:14Speaker 10: of working across the aisle. You know, in Wheeling, which
- 23:17Speaker 10: is a pretty conservative community, it's not exactly some liberal
- 23:20Speaker 10: enclave like some cities might be dismissed. As Wheelings a
- 23:24Speaker 10: culturally conservative city. We have been able to work together
- 23:28Speaker 10: to do a lot of things with seven to zero
- 23:29Speaker 10: votes from members of council who spanned the political spectrum.
- 23:33Speaker 10: I'm very proud of my record. I can work with
- 23:35Speaker 10: the other side. I can work across the isle. So
- 23:37Speaker 10: folks look at me, I think they're going to see
- 23:38Speaker 10: there's really it's an easy choice to make this November fifth.
- 23:42Speaker 3: For his part, Glenn the governor is claiming that a
- 23:45Speaker 3: lot of fuel on the fire, if you will, about
- 23:47Speaker 3: its financial problems and problems related to the Greenbrier and
- 23:50Speaker 3: other justice companies. A lot of this is being done
- 23:52Speaker 3: strictly for political purposes. That's what he would say.
- 23:55Speaker 10: What would you say that is, look, you want to
- 23:59Speaker 10: talk purposes any other business and small business owners know this.
- 24:04Speaker 10: If you run a retail business that sells alcohol or
- 24:07Speaker 10: is engaged in the lottery, and you don't pay your
- 24:10Speaker 10: sales tax, you don't turn your sales taxes over to
- 24:13Speaker 10: the state after you collect them, you lose those licenses immediately.
- 24:16Speaker 10: And yet the Greenbrier continues to actually sell alcohol and
- 24:20Speaker 10: have a casino in it despite being about three million
- 24:23Speaker 10: dollars delinquent a turning over at sales taxes. So who's
- 24:25Speaker 10: benefiting from politics here? People in the state tax department
- 24:28Speaker 10: actually work for the governor, and that's probably why he's
- 24:30Speaker 10: been given special treatment. He's benefiting from politics. He's not
- 24:34Speaker 10: being persecuted for it. The idea that your personal financial
- 24:37Speaker 10: improprieties aren't fair game when you're running for office of
- 24:39Speaker 10: United States senator is ludicrous. Our voters deserve someone who's
- 24:44Speaker 10: not going to embarrass the meeting every day and who's
- 24:46Speaker 10: going to live by the same rules that they.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Do to Dave Allanchell and five Andy lie Bright to
- 24:50Speaker 3: you apart by husbands, pizza this much as your favorite hustands,
- 24:53Speaker 3: get a large eighteen inch pepperoni pizza and a Nata
- 24:55Speaker 3: and chocolate chip cookie for twenty three, eight ninety nine,
- 24:57Speaker 3: would you be open to a debate with all Justice good?
- 25:00Speaker 10: As we've called for one, will continue to call for one.
- 25:02Speaker 10: I was encouraged to see in the governor's race that
- 25:06Speaker 10: Patrick Morrisey agreed to debate Stave Steve Williams. I think
- 25:08Speaker 10: that will be very informative. We've seen at the presidential
- 25:11Speaker 10: level just how important debates are. Look at the last
- 25:13Speaker 10: two debates. They've both been in some respects life altering
- 25:16Speaker 10: for this camp. I mean for those campaigns. You know,
- 25:18Speaker 10: I would welcome the chance to debate Governor Justice anywhere, anytime.
- 25:21Speaker 10: He can even bring his dog if he wants, as
- 25:23Speaker 10: long as I can bring mine. But I do think,
- 25:25Speaker 10: you know, voters deserve the opportunity to This is an
- 25:27Speaker 10: important seat for West Virginians. You know, we talk a
- 25:30Speaker 10: lot about the presidential election, but I would argue that
- 25:32Speaker 10: the Senate race and the governor's race are the two
- 25:34Speaker 10: most important races.
- 25:35Speaker 4: On the ballot this fall. Especially.
- 25:37Speaker 10: You know, someone who can be elected senator can serve
- 25:39Speaker 10: for a long time. And really, if you look at
- 25:41Speaker 10: the track record of Bird and Mansion, they both were
- 25:44Speaker 10: able to get re elected and actually can continue to
- 25:48Speaker 10: actually build respect within the Senate and deliver for West Virginia.
- 25:52Speaker 10: You know that's what the seat can do. But you
- 25:54Speaker 10: got to get it right. You don't want to elect
- 25:56Speaker 10: someone who is not going to put in the work
- 25:57Speaker 10: and it's just going to use it as a vanity
- 26:00Speaker 10: job for a year or two and then resign.
- 26:01Speaker 4: That's not the way to get value out of this
- 26:03Speaker 4: US Senate seat.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Do you think, sir, and the others have said this,
- 26:07Speaker 3: do you think that if he is elected he will
- 26:08Speaker 3: not serve the full six.
- 26:09Speaker 10: I don't see how he could. Just quite frankly, you
- 26:13Speaker 10: don't see the work ethic now, you don't see physically.
- 26:17Speaker 10: You just don't see someone who looks like he's very healthy.
- 26:19Speaker 10: You know, being a senator is not like being a governor.
- 26:22Speaker 10: The world doesn't stop for you and revolve around you.
- 26:24Speaker 10: You can't be up forty to fifty minutes late for
- 26:26Speaker 10: every event that you said, oh, like you do when
- 26:28Speaker 10: you're a governor. He's always late for his press conferences.
- 26:31Speaker 10: He doesn't respect others people's time. But the Senate doesn't
- 26:34Speaker 10: stop and wait for you. There's one hundred people in
- 26:35Speaker 10: the Senate, ninety five of them think they should be president.
- 26:38Speaker 10: There's a lot of egos there. The world does not
- 26:40Speaker 10: wait for you. You can't go there thinking the world
- 26:42Speaker 10: owes you a favor like he sometimes does. I don't
- 26:44Speaker 10: think it's going to translate into affect the Senate career,
- 26:47Speaker 10: and I don't think he's got the sambay to make it.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Six years when you signed up to run, Glenn, you
- 26:52Speaker 3: knew that having the D after your name in West
- 26:55Speaker 3: Virginia in twenty three, twenty twenty four is going to
- 26:58Speaker 3: be difficult. There will be those I have a text
- 27:02Speaker 3: actually that said something to this effect that said the
- 27:04Speaker 3: text was a vote for him as a vote to
- 27:06Speaker 3: keep Schumer in power as Senate leader.
- 27:08Speaker 11: No way.
- 27:08Speaker 3: What do you say when you're out campaigning to people
- 27:10Speaker 3: in West Virginia is a solidly read state. It's getting
- 27:13Speaker 3: rid of two more counties Clay in Summer's just Fliperd.
- 27:16Speaker 3: What do you say to those people that say, well,
- 27:18Speaker 3: I'm not going to vote for you, Glenn Elliott because
- 27:20Speaker 3: you have a D after your name and I don't
- 27:22Speaker 3: like and fill in national names here, Pelosi, Schumer. Whatever,
- 27:26Speaker 3: What do you say to those people?
- 27:27Speaker 10: Look, this particular Senate seed has been held by for
- 27:30Speaker 10: the last sixty five years by two Democrats who definitely
- 27:33Speaker 10: did not go walk lock stepping vera.
- 27:35Speaker 4: With their party.
- 27:36Speaker 10: I'm the same type of guy. I'm not afraid to
- 27:38Speaker 10: stand up to my party if my party's not helping
- 27:39Speaker 10: Western GENI. In fact, I was very vocal early this
- 27:42Speaker 10: year when the Cleveland Cliffs facility closed down a weird
- 27:45Speaker 10: and in calling on President Biden to overturn the decision
- 27:47Speaker 10: of the International Trade Commission. I challenge anyone to find
- 27:50Speaker 10: one example where Jim Justice is willing to stand up
- 27:54Speaker 10: to his party on anything. He is the one who
- 27:56Speaker 10: is who's completely tied to his party on everything I will.
- 28:00Speaker 10: I would never be afraid to stand up to my
- 28:02Speaker 10: party if I thought they're going to hurt West Virginia.
- 28:05Speaker 10: The National Democratic Party is not helping me in this race.
- 28:07Speaker 10: I'm doing this race on my own, and I'm certainly
- 28:09Speaker 10: if I get elected, I'm not going to be beholden
- 28:11Speaker 10: to anybody. You know, I identify as a Democrat because
- 28:14Speaker 10: I grew up with pictures of Franklin wrote Franklin Roosevelt
- 28:17Speaker 10: on my grandparents' wall. You know, the Democratic Party to
- 28:19Speaker 10: me is a party of underdogs of the working class.
- 28:22Speaker 4: That's what I am.
- 28:23Speaker 10: I think the party has sometimes drifted. I drifted away
- 28:26Speaker 10: from that in the way it's perceived. I think we've
- 28:28Speaker 10: let Republicans define us as what we're not. But look
- 28:30Speaker 10: at my record and Wheeling, look at what we've done there.
- 28:33Speaker 10: We've gotten things done in a bipartisan way. You know,
- 28:35Speaker 10: I would do the same thing as a senator. So

- 33:45Speaker 14: I'm doing great. How are you?
- 33:47Speaker 3: Thank you for being here today because I know it's
- 33:49Speaker 3: not a busy couple of days for you, little bit.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I mean, all right, so I gotta say this. I
- 33:53Speaker 3: have you on the show. A couple of days ago.
- 33:56Speaker 3: You left my show to go get married and then
- 33:59Speaker 3: went to the ballpark, because right, yep, Okay, write this down.
- 34:02Speaker 3: This may be the only time in history, I guess,
- 34:05Speaker 3: has ever left my show to go get married.
- 34:06Speaker 14: Yeah, it's part of the baseball life. I married Carlos Masa.
- 34:11Speaker 14: He's a relief pitcher on The Dirty Birds. We've known
- 34:13Speaker 14: each other for about three years and just kind of
- 34:16Speaker 14: did a small elopement because he's from Venezuela. So you
- 34:19Speaker 14: need to get that green card process started.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Well, there you go, and of course I'm sure there'll
- 34:25Speaker 3: be other parties, probably after the season.
- 34:28Speaker 14: Definitely a big religious ceremony in Los Angeles, where my
- 34:30Speaker 14: parents are from, in November.
- 34:31Speaker 3: All right, good good stuff. All right, well, congratulations, thanks you.
- 34:34Speaker 3: So the Dirty Birds continue their playoff run. Last night
- 34:37Speaker 3: they lost to Gastonia. So the series is now tied
- 34:40Speaker 3: at one apiece and shifts to Gastonia tomorrow night. Tomorrow night,
- 34:44Speaker 3: So let's talk about that. I want to talk about
- 34:46Speaker 3: that game one the other night of that series, twelve
- 34:49Speaker 3: innings and the batter was hit, is that right correct?
- 34:53Speaker 3: And took his base at that end of the game.
- 34:55Speaker 14: Yep. So four hours, eleven minutes, crazy game one to
- 34:58Speaker 14: start off the playoffs, and it was Jared Carr batting
- 35:01Speaker 14: in the bottom twelve inning, West Virginia native got hit
- 35:04Speaker 14: with the bases loaded and that ended the ball game.
- 35:06Speaker 3: I didn't realize he was a West Virginia nat. I
- 35:08Speaker 3: guess I just didn't put two and two together. That's
- 35:10Speaker 3: that's pretty good stuff right there. And then you come
- 35:12Speaker 3: back to go Mark Ballpark last night, didn't were you guys?
- 35:14Speaker 3: Delayed by rain at all. Didn't you know?
- 35:16Speaker 14: It rained a little bit during the game, But that's
- 35:18Speaker 14: the beauty of turf. We never have to worry about
- 35:20Speaker 14: tilves too.
- 35:20Speaker 3: As long as you'll have lightning, you're in good shape.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Exactly so, But you lost the game last night. What
- 35:24Speaker 3: was the final score?
- 35:24Speaker 14: Seven to the final score? That one was tough. Our
- 35:27Speaker 14: bats did come alive. We were out hitting them, but
- 35:30Speaker 14: just couldn't string hits together to get runs. There were
- 35:32Speaker 14: a few errors in the field, and it would have
- 35:34Speaker 14: been nice to go into Gastoni with a two game lead,
- 35:37Speaker 14: but we're still tied up. It's anyone's ballgame.
- 35:39Speaker 3: So again, the next game will be tomorrow night. And
- 35:42Speaker 3: one of the questions that I get is people ask, well,
- 35:45Speaker 3: when they're on the road, how do I follow the team?
- 35:47Speaker 3: I know you folks do a great job in your
- 35:49Speaker 3: social media, but if they want to watch, they want
- 35:50Speaker 3: to listen. How is that possible?
- 35:52Speaker 14: Absolutely so. Flow Baseball is where all Atlantic League games
- 35:55Speaker 14: are streamed. You can watch, you can listen there. I
- 35:58Speaker 14: will be traveling as a fan to go soport my
- 36:00Speaker 14: husband and the team, but you can listen to Noah.
- 36:03Speaker 14: He's the voice of Gastonia. He's it does a great job.
- 36:05Speaker 14: If you go to flow baseball dot com, you can
- 36:07Speaker 14: subscribe there and watch the games.
- 36:09Speaker 3: So it's the best of five and we're tied at
- 36:12Speaker 3: one apiece, so all the rest of the games will
- 36:14Speaker 3: be in Gastonia, right.
- 36:15Speaker 14: Correct, So Friday, Saturday, and then if necessary Sunday. If
- 36:19Speaker 14: we win, then we are in the championship series home
- 36:22Speaker 14: games Tuesday and Wednesday.
- 36:23Speaker 3: All right, that's what I wanted to ask you, and
- 36:24Speaker 3: I know, as I said when you were on the
- 36:26Speaker 3: show just a couple of days ago, Jill, how superstitious
- 36:29Speaker 3: sports people can be, especially baseball. There's no other sport
- 36:32Speaker 3: like baseball when it comes to tradition, superstitions. We got
- 36:35Speaker 3: to do no jinxes or anything like that. So we
- 36:37Speaker 3: don't want to get ahead of ourselves. But if you
- 36:39Speaker 3: do win the series, then you'll have a championship series
- 36:43Speaker 3: with at least how many games.
- 36:45Speaker 14: In true games at home?
- 36:46Speaker 3: With two games at home. Who's the top team in
- 36:49Speaker 3: the other division?
- 36:50Speaker 14: Right now, York is leading Lancaster. So York is up
- 36:53Speaker 14: two games to nothing and they're about to go home
- 36:56Speaker 14: and play, so.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Very good chance and they can go either way. That's
- 36:59Speaker 3: why they play the game, Jill, But but very good
- 37:02Speaker 3: chance it's gonna be York possibly talking about this Gastonia team.
- 37:05Speaker 14: Gastonia is really good. They're a tough team to beat
- 37:08Speaker 14: at home. That's why we wanted to have be two
- 37:09Speaker 14: games up in the series. But I think it's their
- 37:13Speaker 14: bats that really come alive. They start off slow, but
- 37:17Speaker 14: they can score a lot of runs at the end
- 37:19Speaker 14: of the game, and that's what puts a lot of
- 37:21Speaker 14: pressure on our bullpen. They're a good team, they've only
- 37:24Speaker 14: lost a few games at home, and they have the
- 37:26Speaker 14: best record overall in the entire league.
- 37:29Speaker 3: And we should be used to Gastonia because we've played
- 37:31Speaker 3: them now twice. This week we go play them down
- 37:35Speaker 3: to their place, But then last week we've spent the
- 37:38Speaker 3: entire week against How many games in a row have
- 37:40Speaker 3: we played against Gastonia.
- 37:41Speaker 14: We've now had eight games in a row. So and
- 37:43Speaker 14: there was there was a benches clearing conversation not overawl
- 37:47Speaker 14: between the two teams on Tuesday, and that's to be
- 37:49Speaker 14: expected when you play each other so often throughout the season,
- 37:52Speaker 14: and that many days in a row. But what's exciting
- 37:54Speaker 14: about that? I did say that Gastonia statistically is quote
- 37:58Speaker 14: unquote the best team in the league because of their record.
- 38:01Speaker 14: But when you play a team so many days in
- 38:03Speaker 14: a row, it's up to the baseball guys. It's anybody's
- 38:07Speaker 14: game at that point. So I have a good feeling
- 38:09Speaker 14: going into Gastonia.
- 38:10Speaker 3: A bitch clearing conversation.
- 38:12Speaker 14: No, no punches. I don't even think there was any shoving.
- 38:14Speaker 14: Maybe some like chest touching, you know, but mainly mainly conversation.
- 38:18Speaker 3: What were they arguing about? What was it called?
- 38:20Speaker 14: Jake Gatewood he for the Gastonia. He thought it was
- 38:24Speaker 14: a home run, it was a double. And Stevie Ledesma,
- 38:28Speaker 14: who was our hero of the game, got out of it.
- 38:30Speaker 14: There was runners on second and third, nobody out and
- 38:32Speaker 14: he got out of it unscathed in extra innings. And
- 38:35Speaker 14: Jake Gatewood had a conversation with our catcher rus for Estrada,
- 38:38Speaker 14: a strata, very defensive guy, and our entire team came out.
- 38:42Speaker 14: You support your catcher.
- 38:44Speaker 3: That's one of the things I love about baseball. I mean,
- 38:46Speaker 3: you know you and I don't want to be that.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Gavi says, I just watched it for the fights, like
- 38:49Speaker 3: people watch hockey. I don't necessarily mean that. But I
- 38:52Speaker 3: love the fact that, especially with managers and whatnot, how
- 38:55Speaker 3: they can get up an umpire's face and they can
- 38:56Speaker 3: kick dirt and whatever. But then afterwards everybody has a
- 38:58Speaker 3: beer and it's all over with exactly.
- 39:00Speaker 14: That's I love the game. I especially because baseball is
- 39:04Speaker 14: not slower, but there's breaks where you can have those
- 39:06Speaker 14: converse chasenge. I can see Estrawa having conversations at Gatewood
- 39:09Speaker 14: and I'm thinking, oh man, there's going to be something
- 39:12Speaker 14: happening soon.
- 39:13Speaker 3: But aave Allichowing five eighty Live brought to you part

- 39:34Speaker 3: I want to switch gears off of the Dirty Bridge
- 39:36Speaker 3: just for a moment, because I know what a what
- 39:38Speaker 3: a baseball fan you are in general. Officially, my Cincinnati
- 39:42Speaker 3: Rads were eliminated from the playoffs last week. I mean
- 39:44Speaker 3: it would have taken you know, an act of God,
- 39:46Speaker 3: the baseball gods and everybody in between to get a man.
- 39:49Speaker 3: But officially they're now you're a Red Sox fan. Yeah, right,
- 39:52Speaker 3: because that's where your family's like originally.
- 39:54Speaker 14: Exactly, that's from there.
- 39:55Speaker 5: I wouldn't.
- 39:55Speaker 14: I mean, working in baseball unfortunately, don't follow baseball as
- 40:00Speaker 14: closely as I should.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean I think the Red Sox at
- 40:03Speaker 3: a decent season.
- 40:04Speaker 14: Have they have They haven't clinched it, but I saw
- 40:06Speaker 14: the New York Yankees clinch last night.
- 40:08Speaker 4: So no, you love that.
- 40:09Speaker 14: Oh it's been great.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Well, you know, when it comes time for September and October,
- 40:14Speaker 3: never count the Yankees out, you know that. I never
- 40:15Speaker 3: count the Red Sox out. There's something I like, though,
- 40:18Speaker 3: when it comes to Major League Baseball about having the
- 40:20Speaker 3: I mean, I wish it were the Reds, but I
- 40:22Speaker 3: like to have those legacy teams involved, whether it's the
- 40:24Speaker 3: Yankees or the Red Sox, the Dodgers, those teams. And
- 40:27Speaker 3: I can tell you that the networks like it too,
- 40:29Speaker 3: because there's not always a lot of excitement over you know,
- 40:34Speaker 3: a team from Seattle or Arizona or Tampa or whatever
- 40:36Speaker 3: they like, those Red Sox Cubs, those teams with the
- 40:39Speaker 3: national following.
- 40:40Speaker 14: There's so much history behind those teams too. In the playoffs,
- 40:43Speaker 14: and even the Yankees and Red Sox play, it's so
- 40:45Speaker 14: much fun. I actually got to work the twenty eighteen
- 40:47Speaker 14: series between those two teams, so it's always a lot
- 40:49Speaker 14: of fun to see those all right.
- 40:51Speaker 3: So again, the series is now tied at one game apiece.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Charleston won game one. Gastonia came back last night to
- 40:57Speaker 3: win Game two. They're going to travel night and then
- 41:00Speaker 3: tomorrow six thirty five, seven o'clock, seven o'clock in Gastonia,
- 41:06Speaker 3: and so we gotta we got we gotta get it
- 41:08Speaker 3: in gear here. I'd love to have left Charleston with
- 41:10Speaker 3: two wins.
- 41:11Speaker 14: It would have been great. But Friday night tomorrow we
- 41:14Speaker 14: have David Lebron starting, and he was the one that
- 41:16Speaker 14: pitched when we clinched last Friday. He pitched eight scoreless innings,
- 41:20Speaker 14: only giving up one hit and one walk. So I'm
- 41:23Speaker 14: not too concerned right now. If we can take Friday's game,
- 41:26Speaker 14: I think we'll be all right, all right.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Joe Garon, where can people again. Give us that website.
- 41:31Speaker 3: People can watch the game.
- 41:32Speaker 14: Yep, go to flowbaseball dot com. That's where you can
- 41:34Speaker 14: watch the games in Gastonia. And then when we come
- 41:36Speaker 14: back for the championship series, if you can't come to
- 41:38Speaker 14: the ballpark, you can watch there too. Now, you said that,
- 41:41Speaker 14: not me, I'm manifesting it.
- 41:44Speaker 3: You said it because I wasn't going to go there
- 41:46Speaker 3: and say we don't want to Jex. But you're the
- 41:47Speaker 3: one that said when.
- 41:48Speaker 14: We come back, we're manifested.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I hope the folks in Gastonia didn't hear that. I'm
- 41:51Speaker 3: sure that's all right, Joe gear to the dirty words.
- 41:54Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here. We're gonna take a break.

- 44:35Speaker 3: voters this week. While it's always difficult to wish ill
- 44:38Speaker 3: of other human beings. Would America be better off if
- 44:40Speaker 3: Donald Trump had been killed? Last weekend Texas's overall, seventeen
- 44:45Speaker 3: percent of America's responded yes, sixty nine percent said no,
- 44:49Speaker 3: and the remaining fourteen percent said they were not sure.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Among Democrats survey, twenty eight percent responded yes. Despite the
- 44:55Speaker 3: two attempts on Trump's Lithepole also found that a majority
- 44:58Speaker 3: fifty one percent of Democrats don't think security detail should
- 45:01Speaker 3: be increased. Among all voters, this is the same text.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Among all voters, sixty two percent trump security should be increased,
- 45:09Speaker 3: thirty two percent disagree. I says a texture want to
- 45:12Speaker 3: know if every West Virginia Democratic candidate and current office
- 45:15Speaker 3: holders will publicly for the record condemn the views like
- 45:18Speaker 3: these and called out those who believe and support it.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Words do have consequences, deadly ones. Well, I do know
- 45:24Speaker 3: the state Democratic Party and delegate and state leader Mike
- 45:28Speaker 3: Pushkin did put out a press release shortly after the
- 45:32Speaker 3: latest Trump assassination attempt this passed the weekend in Florida,
- 45:36Speaker 3: condemn it. I do know that, and look, I have
- 45:40Speaker 3: made my views on the former president known, I voted
- 45:43Speaker 3: from twice. I will not be voting for you again
- 45:45Speaker 3: this time. However, I do not wish ill will on
- 45:48Speaker 3: any one anybody whatsoever. Republican, Democrat, conservative, liberal, That's just
- 45:54Speaker 3: not who I am and I have. And I appreciate
- 45:57Speaker 3: the texture for sending that. These kind of a long text,
- 45:58Speaker 3: but I do appreciate it. We got to get back
- 46:01Speaker 3: to that where, you know, and you've heard me say
- 46:03Speaker 3: it over and over again, we're just because I don't
- 46:05Speaker 3: agree with you. You're not my blood enemy.
- 46:07Speaker 6: You know.
- 46:08Speaker 3: We can agree to disagree on things. But there's so
- 46:11Speaker 3: much venom out there going on on both sides right now,
- 46:15Speaker 3: but it needs to be toned way way back. I
- 46:18Speaker 3: long for the days when we had boring presidential debates,
- 46:21Speaker 3: for example, when we had boring political conversations. Boring, boring
- 46:26Speaker 3: is not bad. Ibby Kirsch will coming up with talk
- 46:29Speaker 3: line at ten oh six, Honey to maker Steve Williams
- 46:31Speaker 3: on the record yesterday saying he would support recreational cannabis
- 46:36Speaker 3: use in West Virginia. Mayor Williams, the Democrat nominee, will
- 46:39Speaker 3: join Hoppy to talk about that and other stuff. Brad
- 46:41Speaker 3: mclahanny will also join Hoppy to get into that as well.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Of course, the Republican nominee for governor, Attorney General Patrick
- 46:47Speaker 3: Morrissey opposes recreational marijuana use. Jonathan Savage Jared Halper from
- 46:51Speaker 3: Fox News Radio on the show today more on school
- 46:54Speaker 3: safety and Marshall football coach Charles Huff is going to
- 46:58Speaker 3: join Hoppy today the Herd, of course, pretty tough task
- 47:01Speaker 3: because they get up to Ohio State at the Horseshoe
- 47:04Speaker 3: for a noontime kickoff on Saturday. Fox will be there.
- 47:08Speaker 3: The Fox coverage acts actually like their their big game
- 47:11Speaker 3: at noon, and the pregame show is going to come
- 47:13Speaker 3: from Columbus for the Marshall and Ohio State game. And
- 47:16Speaker 3: if you followed coach Huff over the last twenty four
- 47:19Speaker 3: to forty eight hours or so, he jokingly jokingly offered
- 47:24Speaker 3: any Ohio State player all you can eat biscuits from
- 47:27Speaker 3: tutors if they would transfer to Marshall. And he said
- 47:32Speaker 3: it as a joke. But this story has now gone national.
- 47:36Speaker 3: It was on ESPN and it was on other sports
- 47:39Speaker 3: entities yesterday. So I'm sure Hoppy's going to ask Huff
- 47:42Speaker 3: about that too. That's a lot of biscuit, you, coach,
- 47:45Speaker 3: Do you know? Do you know how big lineman are
- 47:48Speaker 3: I mean, do you know how many biscuits, how many
- 47:50Speaker 3: mary bees and Ron's and thundering herds it's going to
- 47:53Speaker 3: take to feed them? I mean, I don't know about that, coach,
- 47:56Speaker 3: But anyway, Coach Chuff will be on to talk about that.
- 47:57Speaker 3: It's talk Line with Hoppy TENO six from the Covin

- 48:13Speaker 3: I watched an old debate between Bush, Perroh and Clinton
- 48:15Speaker 3: the other day. It was staggering how far we have declined.
- 48:19Speaker 3: Amen Texas, Dave, Happy anniversary. My wife and I were
- 48:24Speaker 3: celebrating their forty ninth wedding anniversary today too. Thanks as
- 48:28Speaker 3: a Texter, Texa, Dave, you said, the last Trump assassin
- 48:33Speaker 3: wasn't Republican. He supported Haley and Ramaswami. If he wasn't Republican,
- 48:37Speaker 3: he was at least on the conservative side of politics.
- 48:40Speaker 3: The left and Democrats aren't trying to assassinate Trump. It's
- 48:43Speaker 3: Republicans and conservatives. Republicans and conservatives need some introspection as
- 48:48Speaker 3: to why, Yeah, he was a he was registered unaffiliated.
- 48:51Speaker 3: That's that's the point. I was not getting to his
- 48:54Speaker 3: political ideology. I was saying that, for the record, he
- 48:56Speaker 3: was unaffiliated. Tex says West Virginia would become a Muslims
- 49:00Speaker 3: before legalizing cannabis, says a Texter. Texays all they could
- 49:05Speaker 3: eat tutors business except for the Mountaineer. True Texas. Mister
- 49:11Speaker 3: Elliott says a Democratic party is for the underdog. He's correct.
- 49:14Speaker 3: The party is definitely an underdog in any elections because
- 49:17Speaker 3: of the extreme views of the party. Governor Justice has
- 49:20Speaker 3: my vote and will be a great senator as a Texter,
- 49:24Speaker 3: So I didn't want to follow up on this just
- 49:26Speaker 3: a little bit. Huntington mayor and Democratic candidate for governor
- 49:29Speaker 3: Steve Williams made what some people consider to be a
- 49:33Speaker 3: shocking statement for anyone trying to get elected to higher
- 49:37Speaker 3: office in West Virginia. Keyword, they're being higher West Virginia,
- 49:41Speaker 3: of course, as you know, a solidly read state. As
- 49:43Speaker 3: I mentioned earlier this week, two more counties Clay and
- 49:46Speaker 3: Summers have now flipped red as well. Mister Williams said
- 49:50Speaker 3: yesterday that he fully supports the recreational use of cannabis products.
- 49:57Speaker 3: So I've already had a couple people way in on
- 49:59Speaker 3: that I would be interested to know. Does that change
- 50:02Speaker 3: your opinion of Steve Williams? And look, just like I
- 50:05Speaker 3: told Glenn Elliott and I know both gentlemen. Both gentlemen
- 50:08Speaker 3: have been on the show. Today was the first day
- 50:09Speaker 3: I've actually met Glenn Elliott in person. But Steve Williams
- 50:12Speaker 3: I've known for a number of years. Both good people,
- 50:16Speaker 3: both great guys. It's going to be a very difficult climate.
- 50:20Speaker 3: I think that they both realize that and have kind
- 50:22Speaker 3: of accepted that for either one of them to get
- 50:23Speaker 3: elected in a state as read as West Virginia. But
- 50:27Speaker 3: does the fact that Steve Williams the Huntington mayor, and
- 50:30Speaker 3: again he's going to be on with Hopey to talk
- 50:32Speaker 3: about this during talk line, does that change your opinion
- 50:35Speaker 3: of Steve Williams in any way that he now supports
- 50:40Speaker 3: the recreational use of marijuana in West Virginia. There are
- 50:45Speaker 3: a lot of people that have no issue with medical marijuana.
- 50:50Speaker 3: I being one of them. But they draw the line
- 50:53Speaker 3: at record. I mean, heck, if you are listening to
- 50:56Speaker 3: Harvey Payton on with Jeff jenkins On as the Lawyer
- 51:00Speaker 3: at eight thirty this morning on our station, Harvey Payton
- 51:04Speaker 3: a good friend who leans to be a little bit
- 51:06Speaker 3: more liberal. By the way, Happy belated birthday to Harvey Payton.
- 51:14Speaker 3: Even he said he had a problem with the recreational
- 51:17Speaker 3: use of marijuana. And there are a lot of people
- 51:21Speaker 3: that support medical marijuana that may not necessarily support the
- 51:26Speaker 3: recreational use thereof. So in the last and they don't
- 51:30Speaker 3: have a lot of time, I do have some text
- 51:31Speaker 3: to get to. But does it change your opinion of
- 51:33Speaker 3: Steve Williams? Are you more likely to vote for him now?
- 51:36Speaker 3: Are you less likely to vote for him? Or does
- 51:38Speaker 3: it matter one way or the other. I think though
- 51:41Speaker 3: that anyone that supports a recreational marijuana and I tend
- 51:45Speaker 3: to be more libertarian. I really don't care what people do.
- 51:48Speaker 3: Needs to realize that as long as you marijuana's got
- 51:51Speaker 3: to have the same rules as alcohol. So if you
- 51:54Speaker 3: light up and you get on the road, that's DUI,
- 51:56Speaker 3: that's driving under the influence, and you are going to
- 52:00Speaker 3: get arrested as well. You should. Tex says, I would
- 52:03Speaker 3: encourage Independence to vote libertarian this go around. It's a
- 52:06Speaker 3: foregone conclusion that Trump will win West Virginia, but those
- 52:08Speaker 3: of us tired with the status quo have an opportunity
- 52:11Speaker 3: to do to express that it's time we have a
- 52:13Speaker 3: third party option.
- 52:14Speaker 9: Of the nation.
- 52:15Speaker 3: The health of the Republic may well depend on it.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Tex says the Trump assassin had a Harris bumper sticker
- 52:23Speaker 3: on his truck in Hawaii. Try again, Texter Texas says, hey,
- 52:27Speaker 3: they're a Text and Dave site, a poll of elected
- 52:29Speaker 3: Democrats calling for violence. Then we'll talk about both sides.
- 52:33Speaker 3: Until then, remember there are very five people on both
- 52:35Speaker 3: sides of the neo Nazi Riley look at Oregon, says
- 52:38Speaker 3: a texture which began with recreational pot After only four years,
- 52:41Speaker 3: they've now restored criminal penalties for drug possession. Brought to
- 52:43Speaker 3: an end a key portion of one of the nation's
- 52:45Speaker 3: most ambitious attempts to find alternatives under the jail for
- 52:48Speaker 3: drug users, embodied in twenty twenty. All right, gotta go,
- 52:51Speaker 3: Hopy coming up with a talk line at ten oh six,
- 52:53Speaker 3: Ryan Nicholson, thank you so much. I will see you tomorrow.
