- 0:00Speaker 1: How everyone, and welcome to another edition of the Yukon
- 0:02Speaker 1: Women's Basketball Coaches Show, our last recorded show of the season,
- 0:07Speaker 1: as starting on January sixth, will be back at Cafe
- 0:09Speaker 1: Aura with live programming and Gino. First of all, thanks
- 0:13Speaker 1: for doing this once again. Coming off and went over
- 0:15Speaker 1: to Paul on Sunday. Example where season highs and a
- 0:19Speaker 1: lot of departments equal to season high with thirty assists,
- 0:22Speaker 1: second highest total of steels twenty three, but then points
- 0:25Speaker 1: off turnovers, points in the paint, second chance points, bench
- 0:29Speaker 1: points all season the highs and boy, you couldn't have
- 0:33Speaker 1: probably asked for a better script where everyone who played
- 0:37Speaker 1: it was at least eight and a half minutes or
- 0:39Speaker 1: more so, not all the time you want this, but
- 0:42Speaker 1: in a game like this, maybe the perfect scenario where
- 0:45Speaker 1: everybody was able to get involved.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it's always a two pronged thing, right, I mean,
- 0:57Speaker 2: we get at the Paul team, that's kind of the fed.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I mean it's not the same ball team that were
- 1:04Speaker 2: you know, obviously used to seeing different coaching staff. And
- 1:10Speaker 2: then you know, you couple that with how well how
- 1:15Speaker 2: well we came out, how well we played. Everyone Everyone
- 1:23Speaker 2: on the same page. Everyone contributing. It's like a perfect storm,
- 1:28Speaker 2: you know, and it just kind of feeds off each other.
- 1:33Speaker 2: But it was a great, great day for everyone who played.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And I, like you said, I don't know that you
- 1:42Speaker 2: could do that every night, you know, only play you know,
- 1:47Speaker 2: your starter sixteen seventeen minutes. But for one day, you know,
- 1:52Speaker 2: it looked really really good, Kay.
- 1:54Speaker 3: K Arnold, I mean started this with CD.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I think I mentioned this to Ash too AshEL and
- 1:58Speaker 1: change you to join us later in the show. I mean,
- 2:01Speaker 1: KK Arnold was three for three, three rebounds, but the
- 2:04Speaker 1: two numbers that stand out seven assists, no turnovers.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I mean that's.
- 2:08Speaker 1: KK to a t. And how well she has grown
- 2:12Speaker 1: into this different role that she has this season.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right. I think we're all really proud of
- 2:21Speaker 2: KK and how much she's had to adapt to. No,
- 2:31Speaker 2: she's been here three years now and she's had to
- 2:34Speaker 2: fill three different roles as as a guard here at Yukon.
- 2:42Speaker 2: So I'm I'm really pleased with where she is. She's
- 2:48Speaker 2: making better decisions all the time, she's seeing more of
- 2:56Speaker 2: what's out there, she's letting it kind of developed and
- 3:02Speaker 2: not forcing something to be there that's not there. Uh,
- 3:08Speaker 2: she's had more confidence shooting in the ball this year,
- 3:11Speaker 2: So I think all in all, you know, I think
- 3:14Speaker 2: it's been a It's been a great start and a
- 3:17Speaker 2: big step in Kk's development this year.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Is it simplistic to say the game has slowed down
- 3:24Speaker 3: for her?
- 3:27Speaker 2: You know, that's the way everyone describes it. She likes
- 3:31Speaker 2: to play fast, obviously, and there are times when I
- 3:36Speaker 2: think she plays too fast. She outruns her mind sometimes,
- 3:43Speaker 2: you know, Like so we get her to slow down
- 3:47Speaker 2: so you can see the big picture. And when she
- 3:52Speaker 2: is like that, when she is in complete control of
- 3:58Speaker 2: mind and body, I think it looks it looks pretty good,
- 4:01Speaker 2: you know, and made some great passes the other day.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I hope its slowed down for you know. I think
- 4:13Speaker 2: that's a big transition every guard makes. They come to
- 4:17Speaker 2: you kind of how do you make the game slower?
- 4:19Speaker 2: And how do you make you know, the game where
- 4:22Speaker 2: you can pick and choose what option you want coming
- 4:27Speaker 2: down the floor. So so far, like really really, really good.
- 4:32Speaker 1: How would you rate Kaylee Heckel's play since coming here?
- 4:37Speaker 3: Obviously? Sunday from a statistical standpoint.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Equal to career high with sixteen, led the team with
- 4:42Speaker 1: six rebounds and five assists in the game.
- 4:44Speaker 3: But where have you seen her game grow since she
- 4:47Speaker 3: got here?
- 4:50Speaker 2: Well, she she started off like gagbusters. You know, that
- 4:55Speaker 2: Louisville game. It's a great game for her, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 2: first time out, you got uniform, and I think the
- 5:08Speaker 2: Farta Stay game, you know, it's also very good. And
- 5:12Speaker 2: then I think there was like a little bit of
- 5:14Speaker 2: a uh, maybe a slip. You know, she wasn't shooting
- 5:22Speaker 2: the ball. Well, I think she let that affect her,
- 5:27Speaker 2: let it affect her overall game and even to the
- 5:32Speaker 2: point the other day Sunday when I asked her when
- 5:38Speaker 2: she came out of the game, I said, were you
- 5:42Speaker 2: in the game? And her first her first rotation in
- 5:47Speaker 2: the first half, I said, were you in the game?
- 5:50Speaker 2: She said, huh, I said, because it didn't look like
- 5:54Speaker 2: you were a factor in the game. If anybody was watching,
- 5:58Speaker 2: they would have never known you were in the game.
- 6:00Speaker 2: You need to be a factor. You need to be
- 6:03Speaker 2: a present every possession, defensively or offensively, you know, rebounding, transition,
- 6:10Speaker 2: you know, getting in, passing, laying things that make players
- 6:15Speaker 2: good players. And it's funny, I thought the second half,
- 6:20Speaker 2: I think she probably scored all sixteen of her points
- 6:22Speaker 2: in the second half. Maybe maybe I don't know, but
- 6:27Speaker 2: I think when she's active and she's trying to disrupt
- 6:33Speaker 2: and she's on the attacking mode on offense, I mean,
- 6:38Speaker 2: I mean it's really fun to watch. I enjoy watching
- 6:42Speaker 2: her play.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Yeah, but she's like that.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah, she had eight at halftime, maybe eight in the
- 6:47Speaker 1: second quarter, and then.
- 6:48Speaker 3: She took off. Maybe we'll see. All right, we'll come
- 6:50Speaker 3: back with more with Gino.
- 6:51Speaker 1: It is the Ukon of Women's Basketball Coaches show on Learfield.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Stay with us
