- 0:00Speaker 1: When we got Sarah's little helper, we didn't just say yes,
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'd like to rescue this dog. We said, Hi, I
- 0:07Speaker 1: volunteer to have my heart ripped out of my chest someday,
- 0:10Speaker 1: because no matter how much time we get the Hount together,
- 0:14Speaker 1: it will never be in love.
- 0:18Speaker 2: He's looking down on us from above. No he's not.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I never got him christened.
- 0:23Speaker 2: He's a doggy limbo. No real above. Four finger disgunt.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Dude, welcome to a very special episode of four Finger Discount.
- 0:48Speaker 3: With this week, we're going all the way to now.
- 0:50Speaker 3: The last of us had to add of the Simpsons.
- 0:52Speaker 3: It is, I believe, episode fourteen of season thirty seven.
- 0:55Speaker 3: It is what's being called the eight hundred episode of
- 0:58Speaker 3: the series. It's actually not the ACA episode. Don't know
- 1:00Speaker 3: why they do this, but it's called a rational treasure.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I'm Dando and I'm guy. Wow, a lot of numbers
- 1:05Speaker 2: in there. I had no idea about the not eight
- 1:08Speaker 2: hundred episode thing. I was about to say, round of applause,
- 1:11Speaker 2: the Simpsons, they're coming up on four thing of discap numbers. Yeah,
- 1:15Speaker 2: But so I explained to us, why is this not
- 1:18Speaker 2: the eight hundred episodes?
- 1:19Speaker 3: So it's not the eight hundredth one to air or
- 1:22Speaker 3: the eight hundredth episode to be in production, but they've
- 1:24Speaker 3: just caught it the active episodes, similar to when the
- 1:27Speaker 3: three hundredth episode was with Tony Hawk, it wasn't actually
- 1:30Speaker 3: the three hundredth episode, but they just called it that
- 1:32Speaker 3: because I guess they were like, well, Tony Hawk's a
- 1:34Speaker 3: big star. It seems like that will make that more
- 1:36Speaker 3: of a big deal.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I know why they do this.
- 1:38Speaker 3: It's so bizarre, but that's what they've chosen to do.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Do you know what number this actually is in terms
- 1:43Speaker 2: of release and production?
- 1:44Speaker 3: Well, let's go Simpsons season thirty seven on the wiki,
- 1:47Speaker 3: because as you say, never lies to us, never lies
- 1:51Speaker 3: to us indeed, and we'll go to all episodes of
- 1:53Speaker 3: the Simpsons list of episodes and it tells you which
- 1:57Speaker 3: is what? All right? So these thirty seven, let's go
- 2:01Speaker 3: here it is. Episode eighth four apparently.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Doesn't have quite the same ring.
- 2:08Speaker 3: The eighthead of episode apparently was in to air was
- 2:13Speaker 3: Guess Who's Coming? Guess Who's Coming to Skinner? Yes, which
- 2:17Speaker 3: was which aired several weeks back. Can be named guest
- 2:20Speaker 3: stars in that one. December seventh, twenty twenty five. No,
- 2:23Speaker 3: no guest stars at all, No, No, it does. Yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 3: Kieran Coulkin, Karen Gillen, kurtwood Smith, Barry Sonenfeld, Kerry Washington.
- 2:32Speaker 3: So yes, a lot of stars.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Wow, that's got some names. Yeah, including you know, movie
- 2:39Speaker 2: Guide with Moulton and Davis's favorite Barry Sonnenfeld, director of
- 2:42Speaker 2: Men in Black, and ged Shorty.
- 2:43Speaker 3: In The Adams Family, Principal Skinner discovers that a boy
- 2:45Speaker 3: named Hub has been living in the school library. As
- 2:48Speaker 3: he has no parents, Principal Skinner has no choice but
- 2:51Speaker 3: to take him and be a foster parent. Okay, that
- 2:53Speaker 3: sounds like a nice story.
- 2:54Speaker 2: It does. I'm guessing that Kieran Colkin probably voiced Hub.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Kieran Cochin voy Alexander Hub Hubby. Yes, there we go,
- 3:03Speaker 3: can join me with the bed. I think it's great
- 3:06Speaker 3: that Kurring Coulkin has emerged as like the Colkin family
- 3:08Speaker 3: power player.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean everyone loves McCauley everyone, but yeah, Kieran's
- 3:14Speaker 2: just like, guess what got an oscar on? You know,
- 3:16Speaker 2: one of the most best regarded shows the last ten years.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I'm the man I remember seeing him in Scott Pilgrim Versus. Yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 2: he won an oscar, did he? I'm pretty sure he
- 3:25Speaker 2: won an oscar for a real pain.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Oh yeah, And I'm thinking of the TV. I'm thinking
- 3:29Speaker 3: of what's the emage's got one of those?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, every time he gets one, he's like, guess what, wife,
- 3:35Speaker 2: I'm knocking it up again. I remember seeing him in
- 3:39Speaker 2: Scott Pilgrim Versus the World, like maybe Teamless, maybe fifteen
- 3:42Speaker 2: years ago. Now you've got something, young man. He reminded
- 3:46Speaker 2: me of Robert Danney Jr. And just is the way
- 3:48Speaker 2: he carried himself on screening his energy. So yeah, props
- 3:50Speaker 2: to curing Coulcin.
- 3:52Speaker 3: But yes, that was that.
- 3:54Speaker 2: That was the eight time of the episode.
- 3:55Speaker 3: We're not going to review Irrational Tration anyone. We're gonna
- 3:56Speaker 3: go back and review Guess He's Coming to Skinner.
- 3:59Speaker 2: We'll be back in a few up for I Watch
- 4:00Speaker 2: it be.
- 4:02Speaker 3: This episodes's guest stars Leevin Bacon, Boys to Men, Quinta Brunson.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Taylor didn't Durton, Taylor Durton didn't. It didn't. Yeah, Taylor didn't.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Katherine Lenassa, I think of Tyler Durton. What were Tyler Durton?
- 4:16Speaker 2: Do you think that's that actor's real name Taylor didn't.
- 4:19Speaker 2: It's like, do you think they were? And how old
- 4:23Speaker 2: do you think that we're in twenty twenty six now
- 4:25Speaker 2: Fight Club is twenty seven years old.
- 4:26Speaker 3: No one ever knows the point now where that's a.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Young actor they would like, wouldn't be hilarious if we
- 4:32Speaker 2: because I think Taylor Durden is a woman h named
- 4:35Speaker 2: name after Tyler.
- 4:37Speaker 3: She was born in ninety three. So okay, no, Well
- 4:40Speaker 3: when the book come out, I have no idea, but
- 4:43Speaker 3: no one was, no one need the book, really I did. Okay,
- 4:46Speaker 3: we got special.
- 4:47Speaker 2: That's true, very special. But yeah, and who are Katherine
- 4:51Speaker 2: Lenasa Noah Wiley? Yes?
- 4:53Speaker 3: And yeah, basically because they did The Pit and they
- 4:56Speaker 3: did parody here.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I want to talk about that in a minute.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Okay, then ye, because I watch the first we watched
- 5:00Speaker 3: the first half of the Pit, because we watched ear
- 5:03Speaker 3: for a while. We've sort of we're not we've got off.
- 5:05Speaker 3: We just started watching another show. We'll come back to er.
- 5:07Speaker 3: We thought, oh, the Pit. Watched The Pit and I
- 5:09Speaker 3: was just like, I don't know, didn't didn't feel like
- 5:12Speaker 3: just felt more traditional, felt more realistic. The pins felt
- 5:15Speaker 3: like chaos for the sake of chaos and the way
- 5:17Speaker 3: they were bantering with each other. I was like, this
- 5:19Speaker 3: is how people think people talk each other in the hospital.
- 5:21Speaker 3: That's not how they really think. Okay, let's speak to
- 5:23Speaker 3: each other. I don't know, have you ever watched the
- 5:24Speaker 3: I have yet to watch the Pit. It felt like
- 5:27Speaker 3: a it felt the West Wing in the hospital. Ok Now,
- 5:29Speaker 3: it's just like witty banter, back wit witch witch wit.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Like doctors that are there to get shipp done. They're
- 5:34Speaker 3: not fucking having witty zingers back and each other.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I mean, that's that sounds like a hard needle to thread,
- 5:39Speaker 2: because I mean, I think Gray's Anatomy has been going
- 5:41Speaker 2: for goodness long, and I think it has a lot
- 5:43Speaker 2: of that kind of thing going on, where it's like,
- 5:45Speaker 2: we're saving lives here, but we're also, you know, engaging
- 5:47Speaker 2: in witty banter. It's like, yeah, but you're kind of
- 5:49Speaker 2: a fantasy.
- 5:50Speaker 3: That's always been perceived as a like a drama loves
- 5:53Speaker 3: drama medical.
- 5:54Speaker 2: So yeah, Whereas the Pit I think was going for
- 5:57Speaker 2: like this crowd is so I'm but everyone's talking like
- 6:01Speaker 2: they're in an Aaron Sorkin show. It's like, quite by.
- 6:03Speaker 3: That's just how it felt when I watched that first part,
- 6:05Speaker 3: but this is.
- 6:06Speaker 2: What I understand. Was there anyone else? Because it felt
- 6:08Speaker 2: like this episode was really loaded.
- 6:09Speaker 3: We guessed as questlove as the tour guide. Oh that's right, yes,
- 6:14Speaker 3: and he's from the roots and you get yeah, and
- 6:16Speaker 3: that is it. But yeah, a rational treasure. So I
- 6:18Speaker 3: when I first watched this episode, I was a bit
- 6:20Speaker 3: confused because I've never seen the National Treasure films, okay,
- 6:23Speaker 3: and I didn't sort of put two and two together.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Silly me. I was half asleep. I got halfway through,
- 6:27Speaker 3: and I'm like, what on earth is this going on
- 6:29Speaker 3: about Benjamin Franklin Treasure? This is this is some pretty
- 6:32Speaker 3: far out there stuff for the Simpsons. And I was like, oh,
- 6:35Speaker 3: that's right, it's National Treasure film. His name is Benjamin Franklin,
- 6:38Speaker 3: isn't he in the films?
- 6:39Speaker 2: His name is Benjamin Franklin Gates. Whether he's an actual
- 6:43Speaker 2: descendant of Benjamin Franklin, I'm not sure. Played by Nicholas Cage.
- 6:45Speaker 2: But the way, if you're wondering why the lead character
- 6:48Speaker 2: of this group of nerds, as Homer puts them, is
- 6:51Speaker 2: dogging like Nicholas Cage, I was like, who the fuck
- 6:54Speaker 2: are these guys exactly. But it's weird because that one guy,
- 7:00Speaker 2: you know, definitely taking off Nicholas ka taking off Nicholas
- 7:03Speaker 2: Cage's character, but the other two are not in the
- 7:05Speaker 2: National Treasure movies. They don't look like his sidekicks.
- 7:07Speaker 3: It just didn't make sense to me. I was a
- 7:09Speaker 3: bit confused a.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Lot about this episode. I wouldn't say it didn't make sense,
- 7:12Speaker 2: but didn't quite play. It didn't land for me. And
- 7:16Speaker 2: I'll tell you why I feel.
- 7:17Speaker 3: If you're interested, well they will tell me what you Yeah,
- 7:19Speaker 3: tell me what you didn't like about it.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I must admit when my first note is I feel
- 7:24Speaker 2: like I came in halfway through because I've got all
- 7:26Speaker 2: this stuff with the Simpsons family and Sama's little helper
- 7:30Speaker 2: and he's getting fat and all this kind of stuff.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I feel like, are these flashbacks? Is this stuff that I'm
- 7:34Speaker 2: supposed to know? And of course they are throwing in
- 7:36Speaker 2: bits where it's like, oh, he's wearing Stonecutter's garb, all
- 7:39Speaker 2: this kind of stuff.
- 7:39Speaker 3: It's literally scenes from the original show. So that very
- 7:44Speaker 3: first shot is the end of the pilot.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that I recognized, and it's like, okay, will
- 7:48Speaker 2: you set the scene you've got the dog. Yeah, all
- 7:51Speaker 2: this other stuff didn't Yeah.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I mean, I think it's just establishing that when they
- 7:54Speaker 3: got the dog, Marge was because the pilot actually ends
- 7:57Speaker 3: with them just saying, Oh, it's so great to have
- 7:59Speaker 3: a dog in a family. God bless him. He's home
- 8:02Speaker 3: the best president of.
- 8:02Speaker 2: All not.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Toys. It's a dog that's part of the family. We
- 8:07Speaker 3: never actually skeet to see Marge, sort of like, That's
- 8:09Speaker 3: what I did like with the episode. We've never really
- 8:11Speaker 3: seen Marge's relationship with his little help one, because it
- 8:13Speaker 3: reminded me of my mum's relationship with our dogs over
- 8:15Speaker 3: the years, where Mum's always like complaining about I'm the
- 8:18Speaker 3: one has to pick up from him, the one has
- 8:20Speaker 3: to feed them, and one has to do all this
- 8:21Speaker 3: every night. You guys said you were going to, but
- 8:23Speaker 3: the end of the day, you know that your mum
- 8:24Speaker 3: loves them.
- 8:25Speaker 2: This is what I liked and maybe didn't like about
- 8:29Speaker 2: the episode. I've talked a lot in our recent episodes
- 8:31Speaker 2: of Full Thing Discard about you know, the foundation of
- 8:34Speaker 2: an episode, you know what's really holding it together, what's
- 8:37Speaker 2: really holding it up, And I thought in this episode
- 8:39Speaker 2: it would be that oh, we all love the dog.
- 8:42Speaker 2: And if you think about episodes of The Simpsons, generally
- 8:45Speaker 2: like but loves his dog, or you know, home is
- 8:48Speaker 2: frustrated with the dog, but you know, really loves it. Underneath,
- 8:51Speaker 2: underneath all that and going unspoken is the fact that
- 8:54Speaker 2: Marge is the probably one who is looking after it,
- 8:56Speaker 2: which's home all the time, yeah, who is probably taking
- 8:58Speaker 2: it for a walk, who was probably having conversations with it. Yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 2: but it's feeding it, right, and all this kind of stuff,
- 9:03Speaker 2: and everyone else is just reaping the ruds of like, oh,
- 9:05Speaker 2: look at a eating the sausages. He think you know,
- 9:07Speaker 2: he loves it. He loves it as the jug.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Goes, and I'm the one that puts in all the
- 9:11Speaker 3: hard work.
- 9:12Speaker 2: It's representative of a term that has been going around
- 9:16Speaker 2: a bit in the last few years. It's either the
- 9:17Speaker 2: mental load or something like that, but generally that women
- 9:20Speaker 2: have in the house. It's like, we're doing all the
- 9:23Speaker 2: work here and it's not really being talked about.
- 9:25Speaker 3: That's that's the Dando life. Now, well, of course I'm
- 9:27Speaker 3: the woman in this relationship.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but the fact that Marge is the one who's
- 9:32Speaker 2: being responsible. Everyone's like, isn't it fun to feed the
- 9:35Speaker 2: dog everything, and oh he's become an absolute chunkster as
- 9:37Speaker 2: a result. Oh well, that's just the way it goes.
- 9:39Speaker 2: We just love we're loving him to death essentially, and
- 9:43Speaker 2: margin is the one who has to be like.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Kill kill him with It's like kill him with love
- 9:48Speaker 3: kind of thing. Film with kindness, kill them with kindness. Yeah,
- 9:50Speaker 3: I feed them treats all the time. He shouldn't feed
- 9:52Speaker 3: them treats that kind of thing.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah, look, and I mean I think any pet owner
- 9:54Speaker 2: has sort of been guilty of this from time to time.
- 9:57Speaker 2: It's like, I love you so much, I want you
- 9:58Speaker 2: to have a little treat in like the next thing.
- 9:59Speaker 2: You know, It's like basically the cat is like you're
- 10:02Speaker 2: a bit big buddy.
- 10:02Speaker 3: For my my dad's dog was like obese, and I
- 10:05Speaker 3: was like he is too fat. And he's like, oh,
- 10:07Speaker 3: he just likes treets. And I was like, yeah, but
- 10:09Speaker 3: if I came by racked up and Alliott was more
- 10:11Speaker 3: than the obeste, would you say keep feeding in KFC,
- 10:13Speaker 3: I would say maybe go outside and exercise.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Of course, he loves treats. Everybody loves treats. The feeling
- 10:23Speaker 2: the dog is not sort of go easy on the
- 10:26Speaker 2: Violet crumble about some kibble walk. So I get, but
- 10:35Speaker 2: I get the feeling that would be the good sort
- 10:36Speaker 2: of foundation there was, and it wants to some degree.
- 10:39Speaker 2: It's like Marge is the one who marches, the the
- 10:42Speaker 2: one steering the Simpson ship. She's the rudder. She's the
- 10:45Speaker 2: one who's keeping it pointing in the right direction and
- 10:46Speaker 2: doing all the work that needs that the family needs
- 10:50Speaker 2: to keep it moving, to keep it to keep it
- 10:51Speaker 2: moving forward, and to keep it solid and sturdy and
- 10:54Speaker 2: working properly. It felt like it's hinted at that to
- 10:59Speaker 2: be hum with, and then it just sort of thrill
- 11:00Speaker 2: it aside for this weird National Treasure homage rip off
- 11:04Speaker 2: whatever it was.
- 11:05Speaker 3: So is, do they go to Philadelphia in those movies?
- 11:08Speaker 3: Is there any link to Philadelphia National Treasure? This is
- 11:11Speaker 3: where the level of my research stopped.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I have not rewatched the National Treasure movies, and some
- 11:16Speaker 2: times I've never watched them because they seem like the
- 11:19Speaker 2: kind of movies that I would enjoy. They're fun.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah, the kids have only just discovered Jimunji, the first Jimaji,
- 11:24Speaker 3: and I rewatched it with the kids and on the weekend,
- 11:26Speaker 3: I was like I forgot just how fun this movie
- 11:28Speaker 3: was and how good the special effects were because so
- 11:32Speaker 3: much of it was legitimate. I was real, what's it
- 11:36Speaker 3: called practical practical practical effects? I'm supposed to see the
- 11:38Speaker 3: CGI looks very bad at the monkeys, but the practical effects,
- 11:41Speaker 3: I was like, I love that they had the mentality
- 11:44Speaker 3: back then if we can do it, Yeah, let's do it.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah. The distinction I always us like, this is not real,
- 11:51Speaker 2: but it's not fake, if you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 11:53Speaker 2: practical effects are like, Wow, they're actually in the room
- 11:56Speaker 2: with this thing as it's happening.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Okay, So National Treasure features key Philip Your locations as
- 12:00Speaker 3: pivotal clue field, and action packed sequences for Benjamin Franklin
- 12:03Speaker 3: Gates hunt for the Templar Treasure. So that makes sense
- 12:06Speaker 3: now it does.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Look, there's a lot a lot of American history is
- 12:09Speaker 2: based in the Philly area from what I understand.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Well, least it points out that's where they signed a
- 12:14Speaker 3: declaration of independence. Independance, Betsy the woman who sowed the
- 12:17Speaker 3: first flag, that kind of thing. What does Bart want
- 12:19Speaker 3: to go for?
- 12:20Speaker 2: It was to crack the liberty bell. Yeah, finish the job.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I guess they see the Rocky statues.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Well yeah, and then it's weird. This is another thing
- 12:25Speaker 2: I wanted to talk about. So I don't know if
- 12:26Speaker 2: this is.
- 12:26Speaker 3: A cool place Philly cheese steaks, Well.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, but the thing of it is, and I don't
- 12:31Speaker 2: want to disparage any of our friends from Philadelphia or
- 12:36Speaker 2: the fine state of Pennsylvania. It seems when you think
- 12:38Speaker 2: of American cities, there are kind of like at ones.
- 12:40Speaker 2: There's La in New York, and a couple of others
- 12:43Speaker 2: that you sort of think of as like name brand
- 12:44Speaker 2: cities like Chicago, Boston, and yeah, Boston. I want to
- 12:49Speaker 2: talk about Boston in relation to Philadelhi, because Boston I
- 12:51Speaker 2: think in the last a couple of decades has done
- 12:54Speaker 2: an incredible job of just branding itself as a city
- 12:57Speaker 2: with an identity, yeah, and sometimes just taking the piss
- 13:00Speaker 2: out of itself just like, yeah, we're all from Boston.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Parker can't have it. Yeah, that kind of Ian Whlberg, Yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 2: the Warlburg and Damon and Affleck, John Cena, yeah, all
- 13:09Speaker 2: those guys. Tom Brady, Yeah, it was even Boston. No, no, no, no,
- 13:12Speaker 2: he's from New England. That's in New England.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Philadelphia, despite its storied actual history and its wealth
- 13:20Speaker 2: of pop culture history, I don't think it's done it
- 13:22Speaker 2: as good a job as sort of putting itself on
- 13:24Speaker 2: the on the pop culture map. Yeah, there's a lot
- 13:27Speaker 2: of stuff in here is like I guess this is Philadelphia.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Base the eighties nineties. It did because you had like
- 13:32Speaker 3: so many films set in Philadelphia.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Movie actually Cooled Philadelphia.
- 13:36Speaker 3: The Springsteen song as a result of the film kind
- 13:38Speaker 3: of thing Philadelphia, the Elton John song. Yeah, of course,
- 13:43Speaker 3: the rocky stuff yep. But I had no idea.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Well, first of all, I watched the end closing credits,
- 13:49Speaker 2: but there's like Kevin Bacon was in there, and then
- 13:51Speaker 2: it's like, oh, he was probably the guy. He was
- 13:54Speaker 2: the the concierge at the Hotel Philly or whatever it was,
- 13:57Speaker 2: And I like, they didn't just have Hey it's Kevin again. No,
- 14:00Speaker 2: Well apparently, yeah, Kevin Bacon Philadelphia native. Also his dad
- 14:05Speaker 2: was apparently like a big time city planner of Philadelphia,
- 14:09Speaker 2: like a very esteemed citizen of that city. But I
- 14:13Speaker 2: had no idea that Bacon was from there. But no,
- 14:15Speaker 2: he did. He did a good job. But I mean, yeah,
- 14:19Speaker 2: I don't think that Philadelphia has quite the cultural footprint
- 14:23Speaker 2: that's say a city like Boston or maybe even Chicago
- 14:25Speaker 2: would have. Although despite all this stuff that the show
- 14:29Speaker 2: sort of name checks in here, I wonder if they'd
- 14:31Speaker 2: reached out to Will Smith for this episode. Hmmm, because
- 14:35Speaker 2: he's a Philly native.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Right well, that's where the Fresh Prince is from the
- 14:40Speaker 3: Fresh Prince reference here.
- 14:41Speaker 2: But Daniel of course would choose the Fresh Prince suite,
- 14:45Speaker 2: you would be is it available?
- 14:47Speaker 3: I thought Fresh Prince was based on his real life
- 14:49Speaker 3: right now, isn't it from where Philadelphia? That's where he's born. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:54Speaker 3: so you can imagine they they probably reached out. I
- 14:57Speaker 3: feel Will Smith's in this part of his career where
- 14:59Speaker 3: he's like he wants to return, but he's still almost
- 15:04Speaker 3: like a parody of him. So people are STI seeing
- 15:05Speaker 3: him as a.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Mean I think at this stage, and I say this
- 15:08Speaker 2: with all due respect to Will, people are regarding him
- 15:12Speaker 2: as either a little bit toxic or kind of a goof.
- 15:15Speaker 2: He's doing a lot of online stuff at the moment, and.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Without that thing where he got the crowd to sing
- 15:20Speaker 3: his song and no one was seeing it, that was
- 15:21Speaker 3: really terrible.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Yeah, the whole Well, it's a terrible city Girls. The
- 15:25Speaker 2: Girls is awful. Yeah, But I mean I think he's
- 15:26Speaker 2: doing a lot of stuff with streamers and kind of business,
- 15:29Speaker 2: and it's kind of like he's giving off daggy Dad energy.
- 15:34Speaker 3: We were talking about it, and not in a good way.
- 15:37Speaker 3: We're talking on the Muppets podcast or just do the
- 15:39Speaker 3: talking Muppets. Jaden and were talking about guess who you
- 15:41Speaker 3: think we could appear on the Upper Show, and I said,
- 15:42Speaker 3: even though he's kind of like a canceled guy at
- 15:44Speaker 3: the moment, Will Smith could actually work. I think that
- 15:46Speaker 3: could be a good avenue to reintroduce him and say,
- 15:50Speaker 3: and I think you need to highlight the slap, having
- 15:51Speaker 3: like a Muppet slap him or something Pope fun at himself.
- 15:54Speaker 3: I think he needs to He can't ignore that. You
- 15:56Speaker 3: can't ignore the slap. And I think that's true. Think
- 16:00Speaker 3: Muppet would be a good way for him to do,
- 16:01Speaker 3: because you could do a man in black gag with
- 16:03Speaker 3: the Muppets, you can do fresh prints for the Muppets,
- 16:05Speaker 3: you can do well, we can do all these various things.
- 16:08Speaker 3: But I think but Will Smith not acknowledged a slap
- 16:10Speaker 3: at some point he can't move move forward until he's
- 16:13Speaker 3: that's true.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I don't think the Muppets would be the best place
- 16:16Speaker 2: to do that for some reasons, but yeah, but I do.
- 16:20Speaker 2: I do agree. I think his particular energy and maybe
- 16:24Speaker 2: his energy at this time would be a good match
- 16:25Speaker 2: with the Ups.
- 16:26Speaker 3: That was a good episode, by the way, it was,
- 16:27Speaker 3: wasn't it. Yeah, Sabrina Carpenter was fantastic. No, I'm talking
- 16:31Speaker 3: about your episode of Oh it's a tother podcast, the
- 16:35Speaker 3: Muppets episode, But Sabrina Carpenter is of course the It
- 16:40Speaker 3: was really perfect cast. She's essentially a muppet. Yeah, she's
- 16:43Speaker 3: so tiny, but she just got it though.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah. No. By the way, I had no idea
- 16:48Speaker 2: that she was Nancy Cartwright's niece. Yeah about that, Yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 2: that's just there's no way in what has Leonard always say,
- 16:57Speaker 2: does begins at home? Speaking of not nepotism but family connections. No,
- 17:02Speaker 2: shouted to u Penn University of Pennsylvania where my niece went.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Oh she went on to ready Krpentah, No no relation,
- 17:10Speaker 2: but shout out to my my niece Olivia, who went
- 17:13Speaker 2: to UPenn on a tennis scholarship.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And did you well, oh, yeah, so you're on the
- 17:18Speaker 3: on the what's what's not the on the circuit the circuit.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Yeah, front row seats and Australian open.
- 17:23Speaker 3: But it can't be any worse than the Astralians at
- 17:25Speaker 3: the moment in the in the circuit, right, we haven't
- 17:27Speaker 3: a really good Australians anymore. After party retire, we've got
- 17:29Speaker 3: that the Demon or whatever his name is.
- 17:31Speaker 2: But he's just yeah, demons topped out.
- 17:33Speaker 3: He's phil he's Philiposis. You know he's never gonna win
- 17:35Speaker 3: one one one, right, I don't think so after every wine,
- 17:39Speaker 3: I think he won one. Maybe sounds better we really
- 17:42Speaker 3: had one since Yeah, I.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Don't think Demon's even ever going to be seated higher
- 17:48Speaker 2: than maybe six. Yeah, and I think that's what he
- 17:50Speaker 2: was this at this particular open. Yeah. I was talking
- 17:54Speaker 2: like this on the couch with just looking at it
- 17:56Speaker 2: like you have no what you're talking about. This is
- 17:57Speaker 2: where people just say shit came from because many people
- 18:00Speaker 2: just say shit. Yeah, why are you talking like you're
- 18:06Speaker 2: Jim Courier, you got no idea about tennis? I'm like, I'm.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Pretty sure there's it says six next to his name.
- 18:12Speaker 2: First of all, I got that right. Let's yeah, we'll
- 18:17Speaker 2: talk about this next year and we'll see how far
- 18:18Speaker 2: demons go or do you respect I mean, I'm sorry
- 18:21Speaker 2: it smoked my ass if we're rar on the court.
- 18:24Speaker 3: The problem is, when you were a bit of a
- 18:26Speaker 3: pop culture nerd saying like twenty years ago, right, ten
- 18:28Speaker 3: years ago, you always had the ability to sort of
- 18:30Speaker 3: like wing shit on the fly because people just trusted
- 18:32Speaker 3: that you knew everything, So even if something wasn't exactly right,
- 18:35Speaker 3: you could just make if people think you were right.
- 18:37Speaker 3: The problem is now everyone has Google in their pocket
- 18:39Speaker 3: and you can't bullshit your way out of things anymore.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I think it'd be surprised if you checked the state
- 18:43Speaker 2: of the world recently. I'm not just saying people just
- 18:47Speaker 2: say shit. People just say shit. They do it all
- 18:50Speaker 2: the time.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Speaking of just saying shit, I was continue talking about
- 18:54Speaker 3: rational treasure.
- 18:55Speaker 2: That's true, but I mean, look, we were talking about
- 18:57Speaker 2: it before.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but I like to talk at the Philadelphia references,
- 19:01Speaker 3: which were a lot of them were lost on me.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I learned them once I did my research because yeah,
- 19:05Speaker 3: as you're saying from Australia, everything the obvious was rocky
- 19:08Speaker 3: and whatnot.
- 19:09Speaker 2: But I think even in America. You know, people will
- 19:11Speaker 2: be going, oh, yeah, I suppose that's Philadelphia related. I mean,
- 19:17Speaker 2: there's Philadelphia has the Rocky statue, and apparently podcast I
- 19:22Speaker 2: was do with this guy from Philadelphia saying the Philadelphia
- 19:26Speaker 2: Museum of Modern Art or just of Art or whatever,
- 19:29Speaker 2: the Philadelphia Museum has some of the great works of
- 19:32Speaker 2: art from the world over, and people are just going
- 19:36Speaker 2: to get their picture taken when the Rocky statue out
- 19:38Speaker 2: the front.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Sorry, that's great. But at the same time, I don't
- 19:44Speaker 2: necessarily go Rocky in Philly. I'm just going it's rocky.
- 19:48Speaker 3: But you mentioned those stairs. Everyone wants to run up
- 19:50Speaker 3: those stairs.
- 19:51Speaker 2: They really do. Yeah. But I mean, whether it's the
- 19:54Speaker 2: roots or you know, the various cheese steaks, I mean
- 19:57Speaker 2: you mentioned them earlier, of course, kind of like, oh yeah,
- 19:59Speaker 2: I suppose that's Philadelphi. But you were saying you had
- 20:02Speaker 2: to do your research. The fact that you've sort of
- 20:04Speaker 2: got to do your research to get half this stuff,
- 20:06Speaker 2: or it's like, I mean and not in and almost
- 20:08Speaker 2: not in a fun kind of way. It's more like, oh,
- 20:11Speaker 2: I have to know this stuff to sort of get
- 20:13Speaker 2: half the jokes, as opposed to oh I didn't know
- 20:15Speaker 2: that Philadelphia.
- 20:17Speaker 3: National Treasure is twenty two years old now, oh yeah,
- 20:20Speaker 3: and it's not a movie that people talk about anymore.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Did you know there was a sequel?
- 20:23Speaker 3: I didn't know this apparently.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Did you know there's a TV spin off? Really? Yeah?
- 20:27Speaker 2: I don't think Nicolas Cage is in.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Apparently they're making a third one in development with Nicholas
- 20:31Speaker 3: Cage involved. Okay, that's researched. But the thing is, I've
- 20:35Speaker 3: never seen them, right, I'm guilty of that, suld I
- 20:38Speaker 3: should have seen them. But still in twenty twenty six,
- 20:40Speaker 3: no one's going, you know, it's great National Treasure. We
- 20:43Speaker 3: should Really, there's no nostalgia for National Treasure. There might
- 20:46Speaker 3: be for a certain segment of the people out there.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Me personally, I couldn't really give two shits. We're talking
- 20:52Speaker 3: about Jumunji earlier. I know it was on the air,
- 20:54Speaker 3: off the air, but Jamunji. Right, there's nostalgia for Jumunji, right, people?
- 20:58Speaker 3: Is that because of the reboots?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Because how many? How many of those have they made?
- 21:02Speaker 2: They're making the third one. The third one's getting released
- 21:04Speaker 2: this year, and they're actually pretty good, okay, right, Actually
- 21:07Speaker 2: they're actually pretty still the first one, and I didn't
- 21:09Speaker 2: like it. Yeah, I liked it fine. It's like, but
- 21:12Speaker 2: I had noticed ire to sort of like the chemistry
- 21:15Speaker 2: between Dwayne Hart and Dwayne Hart. Well, they are essentially
- 21:20Speaker 2: one person, Kevin Johnson, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Danny Devita
- 21:25Speaker 2: and Karen Gillies, Jack Black, Jack Waye. But Danny Devita's
- 21:29Speaker 2: in one.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Is in the second one? Yeah, so did you watch
- 21:31Speaker 3: the second one? Daniel Vite's not in the first. No,
- 21:34Speaker 3: it is Jack Black here, right.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Yeah. See that's the thing. They're all sort of so interchangeable.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Maybe that's just me, or maybe that's the way things
- 21:40Speaker 2: are these days. I don't know.
- 21:43Speaker 3: But but but like, those sequels don't exist without that
- 21:46Speaker 3: Jamunji nostalgia, right, And they actually pretty good movies and
- 21:49Speaker 3: they're doing really, really well. My kids enjoyed watching the
- 21:50Speaker 3: new work.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Well, there's not the National Treasure TV show without some
- 21:54Speaker 2: residual for the movies. It's clearly ip that can be exploit.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Again, though I've spentioned this time and time again in
- 22:03Speaker 3: recent years. We're doing season twenty one, and we always
- 22:05Speaker 3: say that the best parodies the Simpson didn't like that,
- 22:07Speaker 3: we call it. The Golden Ear were the ones where
- 22:10Speaker 3: it was referencing something and you weren't quite sure what
- 22:12Speaker 3: it was, but it was something. But still it didn't
- 22:14Speaker 3: mean you couldn't understand the episode. If you don't know
- 22:17Speaker 3: National Treasure, you actually have absolutely no idea. What's going
- 22:20Speaker 3: on here? What Benjamin Franklin, Treschell, what is all this? Sanitay?
- 22:24Speaker 2: Yeah? I get the feeling that they're trying to build
- 22:28Speaker 2: as much of their own story. They're trying to explain
- 22:30Speaker 2: it as best they can within this episode, create their
- 22:33Speaker 2: own sort of mythology while also referencing the whole National Treasure.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Michie Goss, because I've.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Been interesting in the films, You're like, who are these
- 22:39Speaker 3: three random guys? Why is you talk got Nicholas Cage?
- 22:41Speaker 3: What's going on here?
- 22:42Speaker 2: That's true?
- 22:43Speaker 3: That's true. I thought I wasn't going Nicholas Cage for this?
- 22:46Speaker 3: Was this like a surprise appearance?
- 22:48Speaker 2: Does it say at all in the in the wiki
- 22:51Speaker 2: or that's about who?
- 22:53Speaker 3: Who did that character? I can look it up. Actually,
- 22:54Speaker 3: I want to have to research because I remember watching
- 22:56Speaker 3: it thinking this sounds like Hankazaria. The more it went on,
- 22:59Speaker 3: I was like, oh, this sounds like to Hank is
- 23:00Speaker 3: area cacked. I think it must have been hanging. I
- 23:02Speaker 3: think it's funny.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Nicolas Cage's got such a distinctive way of speaking of
- 23:05Speaker 2: I find him kind of hard to imitate a lot
- 23:06Speaker 2: of ways. I mean, it's not like say, doing Jack
- 23:10Speaker 2: Nicholson back in the day, or who do people? Or
- 23:12Speaker 2: Christoph walking or someone walking is the big one. Isn't
- 23:15Speaker 2: people who are kind of so distinctive and kind of.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Easy you know, ah yeah, yeah.
- 23:20Speaker 2: But I mean Nicholas Cage kind of does a bit
- 23:22Speaker 2: of an if he's you're talking to be like, oh,
- 23:26Speaker 2: that's a bit sort of that kind of thing, And
- 23:27Speaker 2: occasionally he'll do like this, It's like I got you
- 23:30Speaker 2: a Bonnie. So if it was Hank, I think you
- 23:34Speaker 2: did an okay job sort of, if not nailing the
- 23:37Speaker 2: voice exactly, just sort of like the changes in volume
- 23:39Speaker 2: and all that kind of stuff.
- 23:40Speaker 3: He just feels like the kind of guys they tried
- 23:41Speaker 3: to get Cage. Cage wasn't available get Hank.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Well, yeah, what wasn't that? Actually the case?
- 23:46Speaker 3: Hank's always a breakcase, break, emergency class bang, get Hank
- 23:49Speaker 3: to do it.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Yeah, we talked about the Frank Grimes episode with Yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 2: and I think they were looking at William H. Macy
- 23:57Speaker 2: but the most nothing it was when they're looking at
- 24:00Speaker 2: Age at some stage and then we I think they
- 24:02Speaker 2: maybe designed him after we made Macy.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Or design was Yeah, the.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Design was Michael Douglas in Falling Down. But I think
- 24:10Speaker 2: they were also like we mate Macy would be a
- 24:12Speaker 2: good voice for this, but I think they're also looking
- 24:14Speaker 2: at Cage.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Look, I think you're right. Yeah.
- 24:16Speaker 2: We talked about it with Cavali. Yeah, our good buddy
- 24:19Speaker 2: and noted non sellout ed Cavil.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I did screensch it a great tweet the other
- 24:24Speaker 3: day and it was like someone had quite tweeted someone
- 24:29Speaker 3: saying that kids reading levels are getting worse and worse works.
- 24:31Speaker 3: You know, kids aren't reading as much as they used to,
- 24:33Speaker 3: The kids can't re the kids are choosing not to read,
- 24:35Speaker 3: and it was like, this is because every ninety community
- 24:37Speaker 3: is now being off a book deals called Farty mcfar
- 24:39Speaker 3: pants and the Farty and from mcfardy land, among few
- 24:45Speaker 3: other this The producers considered asking Nicholas Cage to play Grims,
- 24:48Speaker 3: but decided Azaria was more suitable because the role involving
- 24:51Speaker 3: great deal frustration that you needed to have knowledge of
- 24:53Speaker 3: the show.
- 24:53Speaker 2: So there we go.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Yeah, good remembering forgot that. Now, guys, I hope you're

- 25:27Speaker 3: Finger Discamp family on Patreon.
- 25:29Speaker 2: But yes, we had a look. There's a sort of
- 25:31Speaker 2: a lot to talk about this episode because it's sort
- 25:33Speaker 2: of it's got a lot of stuff in it, and
- 25:35Speaker 2: it's kind of all over the place.
- 25:36Speaker 3: I liked that for the most part here Home was
- 25:41Speaker 3: pretty competent. I thought this is going to be, Oh,
- 25:43Speaker 3: this is going to be twenty minutes of home. It
- 25:45Speaker 3: was ruining Marge's trip for her, and at the end
- 25:46Speaker 3: he does something to make up for him. She's like, oh,
- 25:48Speaker 3: that's okay. That wasn't it at all. Actually, actually she
- 25:51Speaker 3: was just like, stay home whatever. And these guys came up,
- 25:54Speaker 3: we want your dog, where's your wife? And he thought,
- 25:57Speaker 3: how can I count too? Birds of one stuff don't. Yeah,
- 25:59Speaker 3: it's actually pretty savd on his part. So you got
- 26:01Speaker 3: to eat all the food to all the locations, but
- 26:02Speaker 3: kept those people away from march at the same time,
- 26:06Speaker 3: and at the end of the day, he just helped.
- 26:08Speaker 3: He helped save the day. Essentially, he did it wasn't
- 26:10Speaker 3: He wasn't being a dick at all. And yeah, so
- 26:12Speaker 3: I like that aspective it as well. I like that
- 26:14Speaker 3: it wasn't just a family going to Philadelphia kind of story.
- 26:19Speaker 3: I think it benefited from not having the kids think
- 26:21Speaker 3: the kids. If they had the kids there, they would
- 26:24Speaker 3: have felt that they had to have them involved in
- 26:26Speaker 3: doing something.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Have a mini b plot once they got to Philly.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Absolutely like, oh, we wonder where you got to When
- 26:33Speaker 2: they're on the zoom call it. It's like pretty irresponsible parenting.
- 26:37Speaker 3: One thing I do like in recent years, in the
- 26:40Speaker 3: Salmon year of the show, I call it. They're starting
- 26:43Speaker 3: to really train the viewer to pay attention and reward
- 26:46Speaker 3: you for paying attention. Because end of the episode there's
- 26:50Speaker 3: usually some sort of not always, but a lot of
- 26:51Speaker 3: the time, there's payoffs, references to something that happened in
- 26:54Speaker 3: the first act. It's not just a bunch of shit
- 26:56Speaker 3: happens in the first act and then the story begins.
- 26:58Speaker 3: So we had the reference to god Gobble at the
- 27:00Speaker 3: end years, so that was just a passing he said
- 27:03Speaker 3: in the in the opening scene, his teap the dog's
- 27:05Speaker 3: eating at the table. It's just a passing comment. It
- 27:07Speaker 3: actually helps say the day at the end, and Marge
- 27:09Speaker 3: says family meeting as well, so the start, So me, yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 3: so that part I appreciate. It's just training people to
- 27:15Speaker 3: go to pay attention and all this matters.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Well, you plant your seeds in the yeah, I'm not
- 27:22Speaker 2: a farmer when you plan them spring. Yeah.
- 27:24Speaker 3: But thing like with season twenty one, I'm compared to
- 27:27Speaker 3: a season twenty one episode, right, and how often do
- 27:30Speaker 3: we go this first act was just a bunch of
- 27:32Speaker 3: shit happening. It had no refer It happened in the
- 27:34Speaker 3: Golden Ere as well. But I like that at least
- 27:36Speaker 3: it was just sort of a bunch of stuff happening
- 27:37Speaker 3: in the first act here. But I like that at
- 27:40Speaker 3: some parts of it get referenced of course. Yeah, it
- 27:42Speaker 3: actually sort of comes full circle and it matters. Yeah,
- 27:45Speaker 3: I like that aspect of it. He my favorite will
- 27:49Speaker 3: you favorite moments from the episode?
- 27:50Speaker 2: Look, I want to give Noah Whilier shout out. I
- 27:52Speaker 2: thought he actually did fun voice work. He committed to it.
- 27:56Speaker 2: This reminded me of something. I'm sorry, I'm going to
- 27:58Speaker 2: go off on a bit of a tangent here, but
- 28:00Speaker 2: it's I'm mafullly I'm planning a seed.
- 28:02Speaker 3: That will later. You're not the one I has to edit.
- 28:04Speaker 2: It's okay ten hours later. I'm reminded of when uh
- 28:15Speaker 2: Noel Wiley and George Clooney made a guest appearance on
- 28:17Speaker 2: Friends back in the day.
- 28:18Speaker 3: We reviewed that was on the one of our fans.
- 28:20Speaker 3: It was like the second and the third. I know it
- 28:21Speaker 3: was not the first season.
- 28:22Speaker 2: That I don't listen to it. I listen to Talking Muppets,
- 28:27Speaker 2: So I'm just kidding.
- 28:28Speaker 3: But by the way, if you haven't condon Talking Muppets

- 28:41Speaker 3: mputational podcast out there? Check it out.
- 28:43Speaker 2: He's really good at those tagliness. But yeah, back in
- 28:46Speaker 2: the day, Noel While and George Clooney, we're riding high
- 28:48Speaker 2: off the success of R. It's like we're still a
- 28:50Speaker 2: bit of cross promotion synergy. Let's get him on friends.
- 28:52Speaker 3: So they didn't play the ER characters, so they played doctors,
- 28:55Speaker 3: but not the R characters.
- 28:57Speaker 2: So now having h No only in other cars members
- 29:01Speaker 2: of the pit on board here struck me as like, okay,
- 29:03Speaker 2: well this is the same, same but different, because you know,
- 29:06Speaker 2: back in the day, even if you didn't watch ER,
- 29:08Speaker 2: you kind of knew who Clooney and Wiley works. They
- 29:10Speaker 2: were on magazine covers all the time. But the other
- 29:12Speaker 2: thing was, if you hadn't watched ER, you didn't have
- 29:17Speaker 2: to sign up to a service to You didn't have
- 29:19Speaker 2: to hand over cash money to find out what it
- 29:22Speaker 2: was about. It was just like Hey, I don't even
- 29:24Speaker 2: want to watch it out know here it's pretty good. Okay, yeah,
- 29:27Speaker 2: let's let's have a look where.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Don cost us nothing or friends finishes and er started correct, Yeah, whereas.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Like like which one's the pit on? Yeah, okay, can
- 29:37Speaker 2: we you know, we'llgo medical bills this month something like that.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I like that there was I know that. Yeah, people
- 29:43Speaker 2: know that the pit exists. I mean there's enough promotion.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Oh you put HBO Max just like the pred Well,
- 29:47Speaker 3: if you've got HBO mas the thing.
- 29:49Speaker 2: But I mean if you're just an average person who
- 29:52Speaker 2: doesn't have subscriptions, I don't think there's people existing.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Hub. By the way, see what two B's done. What
- 29:56Speaker 3: has to be the Twob's got basically all the cartoon
- 29:59Speaker 3: network shows because Warner Brothers like, we don't need them anymore,
- 30:02Speaker 3: and TB is like, you can have.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Them for free because we'll take them.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Yeah, So two B's like we'll take them, and everyone's
- 30:08Speaker 3: like it's got a lot of good ship to be
- 30:10Speaker 3: and like you gonna watch the Mads, but who the
- 30:12Speaker 3: fuck cares you're paying for it?
- 30:16Speaker 2: You know, that's television now. I've been giving to be
- 30:19Speaker 2: shad as forever they're great to be is fantastic. Yeah,
- 30:22Speaker 2: so much good stuff I put on and I was like, oh, oh.
- 30:24Speaker 3: I thought I except that this has been absolutely just
- 30:26Speaker 3: no name films, Like, no, it's got great ship on there.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Really initially it had no name ship and I mean
- 30:31Speaker 2: I loved it because it was like a really yanky
- 30:33Speaker 2: video store. It's like, oh, you've got that you know,
- 30:36Speaker 2: Oldtaian horror movie that you that no one of the
- 30:39Speaker 2: streaming servers will have. And it's free and it's free. Yeah,
- 30:43Speaker 2: shout out to tub Look, if you want to sponsor
- 30:45Speaker 2: the fourth discount network, we're big fans. Our endorsement of
- 30:51Speaker 2: your product is legitimate now and you're getting it for
- 30:54Speaker 2: nothing later later on. Better pay us.
- 30:56Speaker 3: You can't underestimate the importance of free.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Correct. But at the same time, Chip is doing well,
- 31:01Speaker 2: give us some money.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Because now I pay for services and they're like, yeah,
- 31:05Speaker 3: but you're still gonna watch ads unless you pay us
- 31:07Speaker 3: more fun Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?
- 31:11Speaker 2: Yeah? Look, this may end up getting me disappeared, but
- 31:14Speaker 2: fuck you Bezos. I mean, come on, man, it's only
- 31:17Speaker 2: about ads in Amazon Prime pready paying.
- 31:19Speaker 3: You, yes, And it's like Netflix is doing Disney doing
- 31:21Speaker 3: it and like HBO. I've got HBO. Max is like yeah,
- 31:24Speaker 3: but you've got like the cheap account and I'm like,
- 31:26Speaker 3: ye're paying you money.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Here's the thing. Yeah, welcome to Chief k Corner, folks.
- 31:31Speaker 2: But here's the thing.
- 31:32Speaker 3: I know, you get a free with Foxtownel.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Well yeah, but at the same time, I mean in
- 31:36Speaker 2: America they call it cable Yeah, yeah, yeah, what do
- 31:38Speaker 2: we call it here in Australia payt TV?
- 31:40Speaker 3: Yeah, paining poor Already cable has ads though, right, that's
- 31:45Speaker 3: the thing in the States, I don't know.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Maybe it does yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's more a
- 31:50Speaker 2: mans pay TV. I'm paying for this With free to
- 31:54Speaker 2: air TV, you're paying for it by watching commercials. Enough
- 31:57Speaker 2: of that. But anyway, n I's worked by no Wiley. Yes,
- 32:01Speaker 2: I thought, yeah, he was really good. I don't know
- 32:03Speaker 2: enough about the shadow it. Oh okay, that's the corner
- 32:06Speaker 2: or something. All the time, I think at least someone
- 32:08Speaker 2: get emotional. I mean he was pretty So it's not
- 32:10Speaker 2: the er character, is it. It's just the same actor.
- 32:12Speaker 2: It's just the same actor. But now he's in the
- 32:15Speaker 2: Clooney or Anthony Edwards.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Wrong, yeah, yeah, because Clooney has never done the Star.
- 32:20Speaker 2: No, No, Anthony Edwards was the guest. Yeah he was
- 32:22Speaker 2: Goose from Top Gup. Yeah, now he's on TV. But yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 2: Clooney was the breakout start of it, and Juliana Margahley's
- 32:29Speaker 2: and almost everyone's except Anthony Edwards. What else did I like?
- 32:35Speaker 2: I like the other shout out to Philadelphia, including a
- 32:39Speaker 2: favorite Philly son, Frank's Alone with Far From Over, which
- 32:43Speaker 2: I think is from his brother's Slyes movie Staying Alive. Okay,
- 32:46Speaker 2: but yeah, that's just one of the great It's the
- 32:50Speaker 2: holy trinity of great eighties inspirational songs as far as
- 32:53Speaker 2: I'm concerned. Not necessarily inspirational, but stuff that gets you
- 32:56Speaker 2: fired up. It's I am damn but remove it. That's great.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Then I don't know that one, well that was in
- 33:03Speaker 2: this episode.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but I had you heard that.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Oh my Darlion, I am down, but I am far
- 33:10Speaker 2: from mobile. Yea love slice lines.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:14Speaker 2: I can take or leave him in a lot of ways,
- 33:16Speaker 2: but chat out for giving his brother props, giving his
- 33:19Speaker 2: brother work all the time. But there's that there was
- 33:22Speaker 2: a push it to the limit.
- 33:23Speaker 3: That's the scar face.
- 33:24Speaker 2: That's the scar Yeah, and you're the best around.
- 33:27Speaker 3: You're the best. I was well thinking to throw it
- 33:29Speaker 3: because I stayed alive seventies, you say seventies, the eighties, eighties, and.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Of course they were you know, there's things like dangers
- 33:36Speaker 2: the time, the hottest person on the street right now,
- 33:38Speaker 2: you're staying alive. Yes, And the other thing I liked.
- 33:42Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know if Philadelphia in fact has
- 33:46Speaker 2: really like mean streets and long wrungs out of down
- 33:48Speaker 2: and all that whipping a battery?
- 33:51Speaker 3: Yeah, what was that reference to?
- 33:52Speaker 2: I think I think people must throw batteries in Philadelphia,
- 33:56Speaker 2: but it's holding it otherwise known.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Or one person didn't. That's all their name for it, maybe.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Otherwise known as a Philadelphia handshaker. Thought it was hilarious.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I love it when a city is so brutal that
- 34:06Speaker 2: it has like acts of violence that is anonymous, Like
- 34:09Speaker 2: is the Glasgow kiss.
- 34:12Speaker 3: It's a headbut yeah, something like that.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you break someone's nose, glass girl kiss. So yeah,
- 34:20Speaker 2: So yeah, that was stuff that I like.
- 34:22Speaker 3: I liked the obvious one. It's because for some reason
- 34:25Speaker 3: I just didn't see it coming. But the dog trainer's
- 34:27Speaker 3: name was Adrian. And then Marge, I'm like, how did
- 34:31Speaker 3: I miss this? Like it was obvious, but I appreciated, like, okay,
- 34:35Speaker 3: you got me. I didn't see that one.
- 34:37Speaker 2: It was double obvious because they when they said her
- 34:39Speaker 2: full name was Adrian Guestar. Ah, okay, miss they spelled
- 34:43Speaker 2: it not as guest star. But it's like Adrian Guestar yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 2: yea voiced by Quinna Brunson of Abbott Elementary Face. So
- 34:50Speaker 2: that's interesting because I mean, yeah, I think the Pit
- 34:52Speaker 2: is the one that's sort of getting all the a
- 34:54Speaker 2: bit of a hype when the people are talking about
- 34:56Speaker 2: guest as in this episode, whereas I mean I think
- 34:59Speaker 2: the Pit probably it does well, but Abbott Elementary as well.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, of course.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 2: But Abbot Elementary is you know, a free to wear
- 35:07Speaker 2: sitcom and apparently does quite well. I imagine more people
- 35:10Speaker 2: are watching Abbot Elementary on the regular than say, The Pit.
- 35:13Speaker 2: But Quinn Brunson, who's the creator and star of the show,
- 35:16Speaker 2: didn't necessarily get as much hype as all the press
- 35:19Speaker 2: that I've been seeing about this episode and its guest stars.
- 35:22Speaker 2: It's Noah Wiley, yeah, which is fine because, as I said,
- 35:26Speaker 2: did good work.
- 35:26Speaker 3: I also didn't mind that Bart actually helped solve the
- 35:30Speaker 3: riddle here. So quite often I feel like this his mispronunciation.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Why so, But it wasn't mispronunciation. It's the thing I
- 35:37Speaker 3: like that they acknowledge here that everyone's brains are wired differently, right,
- 35:42Speaker 3: and Bart's in particular. It has been acknowledged in the
- 35:44Speaker 3: past that Bart is, you know, he sees things differently. Yes,
- 35:47Speaker 3: he didn't read the word wrong, suer. He read the
- 35:50Speaker 3: word differently. Everyone sees the word differently. And at first
- 35:54Speaker 3: List's like, no, you idiot, you know I'm the insult.
- 35:56Speaker 3: It's actually sure, oh, because the obvious thing will be
- 35:59Speaker 3: is costly think sewer, because it's a treasure hunt location sewer.
- 36:03Speaker 3: That's what obvious, the obvious sort of answer, the obvious
- 36:07Speaker 3: way to read that word. But Bart read it as
- 36:08Speaker 3: Sower and I were about to put him down from
- 36:11Speaker 3: actually know what, No.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Let's look at it this way.
- 36:13Speaker 3: You actually you looked at things differently in your way,
- 36:16Speaker 3: and you actually correct And I thought that was actually
- 36:18Speaker 3: quite a nice piece of writing. Well don't you yes,
- 36:20Speaker 3: next question you there eating the Beast trivia time. My
- 36:24Speaker 3: first question for you is what pet did Gill have
- 36:26Speaker 3: in the waiting room of the animal hospital. Oh man,
- 36:29Speaker 3: just a goldfish?
- 36:31Speaker 2: Goldfish? Yeah?
- 36:32Speaker 3: Okay.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Who was the sponsor of the Springfield Canine Classic Ooh,
- 36:37Speaker 2: no idea Philby's pooper bags?
- 36:39Speaker 3: All right? My next one is what was the headline
- 36:41Speaker 3: on Men's Best Friend's Health magazine?
- 36:43Speaker 2: Well?
- 36:43Speaker 3: I saw it, but I didn't pay attention to Santa's
- 36:46Speaker 3: little loser. He's losing weight. Oh boy.
- 36:49Speaker 2: By the way, I'm sure this is a reference to something.
- 36:51Speaker 2: It must be, but was it Lenny had a little
- 36:55Speaker 2: dog in like a baby beyond I don't know. They
- 36:57Speaker 2: had less sunglasses than or something. I don't know. It
- 36:59Speaker 2: looks like an ad. I'm not sure exactly what it was.
- 37:02Speaker 2: If anyone knows, let us know.
- 37:03Speaker 3: You, let us know, mal bag or forfing of thiscamp
- 37:04Speaker 3: dot com.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Do are you what's in the sack that replaces Santos
- 37:09Speaker 2: Leelbert as the pillow for the kids in front of
- 37:10Speaker 2: the TV?
- 37:11Speaker 3: Potatoes?
- 37:11Speaker 2: Potatos, potatoes, yes, potatoes.
- 37:14Speaker 3: I have one more question. What is the name that
- 37:16Speaker 3: Homer gives Bart and Lisa when they first greet them
- 37:18Speaker 3: on the Zoom meeting?
- 37:19Speaker 2: Umm? Was it thinker and criminal smarty and criminal smiting
- 37:23Speaker 2: and criminal one last question for you, and you alluded
- 37:25Speaker 2: this earlier, but when did Betsy Ross sow the first
- 37:29Speaker 2: American flag?
- 37:30Speaker 3: Was it seventeen seventy seven?
- 37:31Speaker 2: It was, yes, because seventeen seventy six is like the
- 37:34Speaker 2: birth of democracy or something like that.
- 37:37Speaker 3: A flag represent this. Indeed on your Betsy, yes, indeed
- 37:41Speaker 3: that person actually teaches you something.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, all.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Right, is now time for the stonecutter shout out, starting
- 37:55Speaker 3: with who, mister Davis.
- 37:57Speaker 2: That would be America's first lady, actually in Australia's first lady,
- 38:01Speaker 2: Katy g.
- 38:03Speaker 3: With her one hundred dollars sport. Thank you so much, Katie.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Also the following people, Glenn Gomez, Justin Parker, Zach Pruitt,
- 38:09Speaker 3: Shanni Macker, Elliott, j O'Neill, Isabella Murphy, Rach Beasley, Stephen Roberts,
- 38:13Speaker 3: Sean Devi, Pete Anderson, Timothy bels And, Andrew Davis, Kevin Dental,
- 38:17Speaker 3: Planned Flood Bellow, Windo Bank, Jack McFadden, Heath Appleby, Ad McLeod,
- 38:21Speaker 3: Mark Trelevan, Ginger and Pickle Preston, Murray, tala Enriquez, Declan Phoenix,
- 38:25Speaker 3: Brian McCoy, Logan, b James Sheppard, Joe Read and Sake,
- 38:28Speaker 3: Dave Pretzels McNally, Gavin Lane, Danmi Miller, Charlie Joe, Abigail
- 38:32Speaker 3: b Sharp Carter and a newbie to the Stonecutters. What
- 38:36Speaker 3: is Craig alt Smash Gloucester ealthy Smash? Yes, healthy Smash
- 38:40Speaker 3: is the manager of the Yeah, but the party Possey.
- 38:48Speaker 3: It's so funny how that is so ridiculous? But it
- 38:51Speaker 3: just seems to have stuck ivan Nie. All right, So
- 38:56Speaker 3: the original air of Irrational Treasure was what to David?
- 39:00Speaker 3: Do you know.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Last Sunday?
- 39:03Speaker 3: Yes, it was February fifteenth, twenty twenty sixth a very
- 39:06Speaker 3: special day on the calendar. It was my thirteenth wedding anniversary.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Congratulations to you, thank you.
- 39:10Speaker 3: And your anniversary was last week.
- 39:12Speaker 2: It was on the eighth, Yes, and the seventh anniversary
- 39:15Speaker 2: of the Love Louisn't I?
- 39:16Speaker 3: You went and saw a show that you're going to
- 39:17Speaker 3: be talking about on the next going down to South Park.
- 39:19Speaker 2: That's correct. After tune in to find out what it.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Is now it says here right, So I was written?
- 39:28Speaker 3: So it was written by Christine Nangle and directed by
- 39:30Speaker 3: Debbie Mayon Mahn. Sorry if apologies I mispronounced that. The
- 39:34Speaker 3: thing is it says here that there was a couch
- 39:37Speaker 3: gag and a chalkboard gagn zam every Sinces episode that
- 39:41Speaker 3: I have watched on Disney Plus this season goes from
- 39:43Speaker 3: the Simpsons straight into the episode. It says here on
- 39:48Speaker 3: the blackboard text, I will not have Ai write these
- 39:51Speaker 3: for me. And the couch gag Marge, Lisa, Maggie and
- 39:54Speaker 3: Bart are already on the couch when an injured Homer
- 39:56Speaker 3: arrives at the living room and complains about getting hurled
- 39:59Speaker 3: through through the door in the garage, Like, are they
- 40:01Speaker 3: just making this up? I've not seen it?
- 40:05Speaker 2: Would I did not see that.
- 40:06Speaker 3: It is so bizarre, right it is that must have happened.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Are they airing couch gags in chalkboard gags? Are they
- 40:13Speaker 3: airing the full intro on when it's first broadcast and
- 40:17Speaker 3: then cutting it out for streaming. That would make me
- 40:20Speaker 3: absolutely no sense. Is this just a mistake. I'm not
- 40:24Speaker 3: sure it's so detailed though it's.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Very detailed, Are right? I mean it sounds like a
- 40:30Speaker 2: blackboard gag and a couch gag, but I didn't see it.
- 40:34Speaker 3: We're gonna go back to another season thirty seven episode
- 40:36Speaker 3: on this Simpsons wiki and see if see because the
- 40:42Speaker 3: opening episode didn't have one either fifty ways right. Yeah,
- 40:45Speaker 3: there's no chalta or chootball gag or anything that's so weird. Wow,
- 40:48Speaker 3: it's got like a full detail of oh no, that
- 40:50Speaker 3: this happened. That happened, mad hope it complains about this.
- 40:52Speaker 3: I think someone's just making it. Don't playing funny buggers?
- 40:54Speaker 3: Sure that makes sense. Should we do the box office?
- 40:59Speaker 3: Nart give a shit? Three films that box Officeih, at
- 41:01Speaker 3: the moment.
- 41:02Speaker 2: What are they thinks? Sent help it's still in there,
- 41:04Speaker 2: which we talked about.
- 41:06Speaker 3: We went and saw songs sung Blue we're talked about
- 41:08Speaker 3: in the podcast fucking good movie Soldier. Yeah yeah, man,
- 41:10Speaker 3: I was like, holy shit, is a good movie?
- 41:13Speaker 2: I know, right?
- 41:14Speaker 3: And every time I say to someone we saw songs
- 41:15Speaker 3: some Blue, like how good is it, it's like it's
- 41:17Speaker 3: like everyone goes in with such low expectations, no idea
- 41:20Speaker 3: what it is. It's a it's funny that I mentioned
- 41:23Speaker 3: we always mentioned here on the show, don't watch trailers.
- 41:25Speaker 3: It's better to go into a movie not having really
- 41:27Speaker 3: any idea what's going on. It seems everyone's going into
- 41:30Speaker 3: song Sung Blue, having no fucking idea what the movie
- 41:32Speaker 3: is actually about.
- 41:33Speaker 2: You think it's away, but you think it's like a
- 41:35Speaker 2: bipick of Neil Darmond or something, and it's.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Not not at all. No, and Hudson and Jackman are fantastic.
- 41:42Speaker 2: It's so good. The full documentary about the actual lightning
- 41:47Speaker 2: and thunder is on YouTube and it's entirety.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Oh okay, then yeah, because I said to Nicola, I'm
- 41:52Speaker 3: glad we didn't look up the movie before we came
- 41:54Speaker 3: and watched it, because if we knew what happened to them,
- 41:57Speaker 3: the movie wouldn't feel it wouldn't have something as much impact.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Can spoil anything, but don't. If you don't know anything
- 42:02Speaker 3: about their story, don't look it up before we watch
- 42:04Speaker 3: the movie. Just go and enjoy the movie. Fantastic, correct,
- 42:07Speaker 3: So how does the episode kick off? I believe it
- 42:09Speaker 3: kicks off with so it's the opening shot of the
- 42:12Speaker 3: final shot.
- 42:13Speaker 2: So last sequence, last scene.
- 42:15Speaker 3: The opening shot of this episode is like basically the
- 42:18Speaker 3: last sequence of the pilot episode in which Hummer brings
- 42:20Speaker 3: home sends a little help with the family all around.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I've always said that I wish that they would draw
- 42:25Speaker 3: older episodes, but like update them. But it felt here
- 42:28Speaker 3: like they were trying to make it look old but
- 42:30Speaker 3: still knew it was correct. It looked weird, right, Yeah.
- 42:33Speaker 2: And the fact that you had well it seemed like
- 42:37Speaker 2: current voices, yeah as well.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Okay, boys stood out a lot in this one.
- 42:43Speaker 2: It did to me as well. I mean, I think
- 42:45Speaker 2: we're talking a lot about Juliekavner's voice and how you
- 42:47Speaker 2: know it's not as it once was. You feelished to
- 42:50Speaker 2: Marge now you're definitely feeling that with Dan though now
- 42:52Speaker 2: as well. This to me felt very sort of George
- 42:56Speaker 2: Lucas sanctioned special editions of Star Wars in terms of like, yeah,
- 43:01Speaker 2: we can fix it up with modern tech. It's like, yeah,
- 43:03Speaker 2: but don't.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, the thing is they've done this in the
- 43:06Speaker 3: Treoscophor episode where they I think it's like the West
- 43:09Speaker 3: World parody or whatever. And they did the Monorail episode
- 43:11Speaker 3: and they outdated some scenes there, but it just looked
- 43:13Speaker 3: like HD Simpsons. This year felt like they were trying
- 43:16Speaker 3: to go, well, we can't make it look too new.
- 43:18Speaker 3: It was just it just it looks sort of like
- 43:19Speaker 3: janky and weird, and I didn't like I thought it
- 43:22Speaker 3: modern but jank, Yeah it was bizarre. Yeah, I wasn't
- 43:25Speaker 3: quite I wasn't really sure about that. But basically they're saying,
- 43:28Speaker 3: here's where they get sounds a little Helper, and it's
- 43:30Speaker 3: the extended sequence at the end. So Lisa's saying, you know,
- 43:32Speaker 3: I'm gonna know. I don't know what Leasa's reason for
- 43:35Speaker 3: wanting him was, but but it's I'm going to use
- 43:37Speaker 3: you for evil, and Marge's like, I'm going to use
- 43:39Speaker 3: you to teach responsibility to the kids, and yadayada YadA. Yeah,
- 43:42Speaker 3: of course none of that happens. We get flash forward
- 43:45Speaker 3: to the Home of the Great episode. Homer sitting there
- 43:46Speaker 3: in his stone cutter is an outfit, and I think
- 43:49Speaker 3: they're just overfeeding the dog, aren't they.
- 43:51Speaker 2: They are, but essentially they're just indulging them all the
- 43:53Speaker 2: time and doing it out of love.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Yes, quote unquote love.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Then it's the pie Man episode. They sit at the
- 43:58Speaker 3: kitchen table. It sounds like Helper is eating at the
- 44:01Speaker 3: table with them. He's got what he's really really fat
- 44:03Speaker 3: now and marshes, why can't you eat on the table?
- 44:05Speaker 3: We can't into that. That's where he threw up all
- 44:06Speaker 3: his waffles and then we get the bit that pays
- 44:08Speaker 3: off later. So I'm just fitnam spaghetti. I believe, yes,
- 44:13Speaker 3: the butcher shop and he says.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Dog getting a stringers like Holy Grail.
- 44:17Speaker 3: And sat as little help was holding onto it by
- 44:19Speaker 3: his mouth and he says gobble, gobble, gobble, and he
- 44:20Speaker 3: climbs his way up the rope, which pays off as
- 44:22Speaker 3: we said later in the episode. Then Marge calls flash
- 44:25Speaker 3: forward further into the future march with the present day,
- 44:27Speaker 3: and Marge calls a family meeting, but the no one's home.
- 44:30Speaker 3: They arrive home and the dog's driving the car for
- 44:32Speaker 3: whatever reason. The shits and giggle, yeah, shits and giggles.
- 44:35Speaker 3: They say, Marge's there, quick bail, so they drive off.
- 44:38Speaker 3: I was like, it's this felt to me. I was like,
- 44:42Speaker 3: this felt very Spider Pig in the Simpsons movie.
- 44:44Speaker 2: A little Yeah, that's that's that's funny. That's exactly what
- 44:47Speaker 2: I was getting as well.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Yea. Marge is then trying to calm herself down by
- 44:51Speaker 3: making an.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Ambrochureus and brocious alt I have no idea. A lot
- 44:55Speaker 2: of grapes in it though, and jelly jelly. Okay, that's yeah.
- 44:58Speaker 2: We went to a birthday party on some on anniversary
- 45:01Speaker 2: and they had a pool cake.
- 45:03Speaker 3: You ever heard of a poolcake?
- 45:04Speaker 2: I certainly have not.
- 45:05Speaker 3: So it was chocolate cake, but the middle part so
- 45:08Speaker 3: it's all chocolate on the outside with chocolate fingers on
- 45:11Speaker 3: to make the poles of the pool. And the middle
- 45:13Speaker 3: part was blue jelly and his cake. And I was like, oh, yeah,
- 45:17Speaker 3: it's an old Australian staple. For I'm like, I have
- 45:19Speaker 3: never heard of a poolcake.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Nor have I. This is the first time I've ever
- 45:22Speaker 2: heard of that.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Yeah, like it used to be in all the old Yeah,
- 45:26Speaker 3: in the old women's weekly cookbooks. Yeah, it does sound
- 45:30Speaker 3: like the kind of thing is like, yeah, this would
- 45:33Speaker 3: be the centerpiece of the party. Yeah, back in nineteen
- 45:35Speaker 3: seventy six, Oh.
- 45:38Speaker 2: You might make your poolcake.
- 45:40Speaker 3: That's so cool. As little tiny tennis were like in
- 45:43Speaker 3: the pool swimming and stuff.
- 45:44Speaker 2: It sounded like they were the extra mark. That's nice.
- 45:46Speaker 2: That's pretty good. I hope you said to Nikola, look
- 45:49Speaker 2: and I got them to make for you. He's your
- 45:51Speaker 2: anniversary present.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Money. Well, we celebrated an anniversary the week befrior A
- 45:55Speaker 3: going to watch songs on Blue Gold Class with chicken tenders.
- 45:58Speaker 3: It was good.
- 46:01Speaker 2: It's like a very dando ani.
- 46:05Speaker 3: But there's unfortunately the dog though, he eats the food
- 46:08Speaker 3: off the table and it's full of grape grapes of
- 46:10Speaker 3: toxic sha alexa. Yeah. Which I feel like is do
- 46:14Speaker 3: people still do this? People still go alexa? For a
- 46:17Speaker 3: while everyone was doing it. Did everyone realize how stupid
- 46:20Speaker 3: they sucking sounded by going hey, Alexa, tell me this.
- 46:24Speaker 3: I'll tell you that, sir, Like, do people still do it?
- 46:27Speaker 2: I don't think that's so much. I mean, I know,
- 46:29Speaker 2: I M no, I don't. I'm I'm I'm reluctant to
- 46:35Speaker 2: although I'm starting to do it more and more. I
- 46:36Speaker 2: was always like always type in things, and then you
- 46:40Speaker 2: know the other day I was in the car. I
- 46:41Speaker 2: was like, I can't be I was typing out putting
- 46:44Speaker 2: this into maps. It's just like Bunning's North Geelong.
- 46:47Speaker 3: I mean, I know, North Dakota No.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Two thousand and nine. No, But I've done it a
- 46:55Speaker 2: couple of times recently. It's like, well, this is actually
- 46:58Speaker 2: very convenient thing. You know. I'm that fat guy from
- 47:02Speaker 2: from Wally.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I just hate we go to like somewhere my
- 47:06Speaker 3: mum right, it's.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Like you hate going places with your mum? Is that
- 47:11Speaker 2: what you're saying?
- 47:12Speaker 3: But we'll be out, yeah, or she'll be here and
- 47:14Speaker 3: I'll say, what time does the what times the movies
- 47:17Speaker 3: close or what times the movie shut tonight? And I'm well,
- 47:20Speaker 3: go google what time does village cinemas close? Geelong? Leading, Leading,
- 47:27Speaker 3: Leading village cinemas Geelong. And then she said, I'm like, mom,
- 47:33Speaker 3: And meanwhile, I've got the ads by typing village cinemas
- 47:35Speaker 3: gelongh ten seconds prior. But she says this learning it's coming,
- 47:38Speaker 3: It's coming village cinemas like it's never right the first time, like,
- 47:43Speaker 3: and it's holding the phone out and screaming to the phone.
- 47:45Speaker 3: I'm like, how is this? How do you think this
- 47:47Speaker 3: is more advanced and just using your fingers and typing,
- 47:51Speaker 3: Oh dear, that's my mom. Ah Mom, Guys, I hope
- 47:54Speaker 3: you're enjoying this week's show. Remember, if you do love

- 48:24Speaker 3: eaten ray grapes, so she takes them to the animal hospital,
- 48:27Speaker 3: which is where we get the pit parody.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Plus Yeah, Alexa or Ciria whatever does how we get it? Lady?
- 48:33Speaker 2: What are you thinking?
- 48:34Speaker 3: What the hell did you do? Lady? Yes? And I
- 48:36Speaker 3: wonder that's a line in the show What the hell
- 48:38Speaker 3: did you do? Lady? Wanted they use that line on
- 48:40Speaker 3: the show The Pitch. Well, you're angry at people.
- 48:43Speaker 4: Missus Simpson. Yes, I need you to answer me honestly.
- 48:47Speaker 4: How many greeps did you put in that ambrosia.
- 48:49Speaker 1: The recip because for two dozen.
- 48:51Speaker 4: Twenty four you gave them twenty four greeps but.
- 48:54Speaker 1: One world under the refrigerator.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Oh thank god, then we got them all.
- 49:00Speaker 2: We got them all.
- 49:03Speaker 4: Your pup is going to be just fine, thank god.
- 49:08Speaker 4: If you excuse me, I have to go to a
- 49:10Speaker 4: quiet room and cry because of what you did.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Then Adrian the nutritioner says she needs to help Santazal
- 49:23Speaker 3: help lose weight because Dan, that dog's fat. And then
- 49:27Speaker 3: he's gonna have diet control and agility competitions to get
- 49:30Speaker 3: himself back into shape, and March signs him up, and
- 49:32Speaker 3: then we get the montage of the various training training. Yeah,
- 49:35Speaker 3: Marge's holding out a believer carrot and Bart's holding a
- 49:38Speaker 3: piece of pizza. The dog jumps and eats the carrot,
- 49:39Speaker 3: and Homer eats the pizza. We've got Marg replacing the
- 49:42Speaker 3: dog sitting behind the kids as I watched TV with
- 49:44Speaker 3: a potato sack, and then you get any of the dog,
- 49:46Speaker 3: which was bizarre. But he's lost weight now and he's
- 49:48Speaker 3: winning a lot of competitions and he's qualified for nationals
- 49:51Speaker 3: in Philadelphi. In Philadelphia, Lisa says, we can see where
- 49:54Speaker 3: the founding fathers signed the Constitution. Bart says, we can
- 49:56Speaker 3: finish off the liberty bell, and Homer says he can
- 49:58Speaker 3: try every cheese. It's the place where every steak is
- 50:01Speaker 3: cheese and every tush is pushed. And he's just talking
- 50:03Speaker 3: about the Simpsons are going to She's like, no, the
- 50:05Speaker 3: Simpsons aren't going. The Simpson is going, Yes.
- 50:08Speaker 2: I need to look up the tush push. I believe
- 50:10Speaker 2: it's had something to do with American football. See what
- 50:13Speaker 2: happens when I google toush push. This could be interesting.
- 50:17Speaker 2: The Toush push or brotherly shove. That's pretty good because
- 50:20Speaker 2: Philly is the city of brotherly love is a highly effective,
- 50:23Speaker 2: controversial NFL short yardage play popularized by the Philadelphia Eagles. Well, okay,
- 50:29Speaker 2: then this requires sport. I'm not going to read you further,
- 50:34Speaker 2: but it's got something to do with NFL. But Toush push,
- 50:37Speaker 2: brotherly shove.
- 50:38Speaker 3: I like the brotherly shove.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that's dope.
- 50:44Speaker 3: But so basically, March says, you're not coming to Philadelphia
- 50:47Speaker 3: with this to the Nationals because you guys will just
- 50:49Speaker 3: distract him and you've been a bad influence all this time.
- 50:52Speaker 3: We come up from Commercial and March arrives in the
- 50:54Speaker 3: Big Scrapple and she is greeted at the Philadelphia Hotel
- 50:57Speaker 3: by Kevin Bacon, not actually Kevin Bacon, but Kevin the
- 51:00Speaker 3: boys in the character Yo.
- 51:01Speaker 5: Welcome to the Hotel Philadelphia. We offer twenty four hour
- 51:05Speaker 5: room service from our full boys to menu and if
- 51:08Speaker 5: you need a order or any other John, just ring
- 51:11Speaker 5: the Paddy LaBelle and we'll send a Jabbroni right up.
- 51:14Speaker 1: So, Philadelphia are the beds made of cream cheese?
- 51:19Speaker 2: The cream cheese ain't got nothing to do with this town.
- 51:21Speaker 2: It's just the name hal some class.
- 51:24Speaker 5: Now, would you like the Silver Lining's Playbook Room or
- 51:27Speaker 5: the Fresh Prince.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Suite Fresh Prince.
- 51:29Speaker 1: We can chill out, Max and relax, all cool, right,
- 51:33Speaker 1: little mister r.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Then they find Homer, who's been in the backseat of
- 51:37Speaker 3: the car. He's snuck in there. He's come to Philadelphia
- 51:40Speaker 3: with much and she's not impressed this at all. She says,
- 51:42Speaker 3: you know, I was supposed to come to you by myself.
- 51:43Speaker 3: Now you're going to ruin everything. And yeah, he says
- 51:46Speaker 3: he's there to supporter though, but she finds his itinerary,
- 51:48Speaker 3: which is just basically eating food, and he wants to
- 51:51Speaker 3: roAP off one of a bit of Jason Kelce's bed.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Now do you know who Jason Kelcey is.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Yes, he's the brother of Trevis Kelce.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Yes he plays for the Eagles. Yes, those brother's worth
- 52:00Speaker 3: a lot of money.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Now well, yeah, unfortunately the end of the podcast space
- 52:05Speaker 2: who hasn't though, Yeah, we've got a very popular podcast.
- 52:08Speaker 3: Apparently, of course they do well.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Yeah, mainly because Travis's wife, who apparently is some kind
- 52:13Speaker 2: of pop star.
- 52:13Speaker 3: She what does she saying?
- 52:14Speaker 2: It's Sabrina Carpenter did a good job in.
- 52:17Speaker 3: The Muppets we know who were, Yes, but she tells
- 52:23Speaker 3: him to stay at the hotel while she goes and
- 52:25Speaker 3: does the training and whatnot. Then they arrive at the
- 52:27Speaker 3: Greater Philadelphia Convention Hall. Did you see the gag here?
- 52:31Speaker 2: Yes? And and Oats adjunct or something.
- 52:33Speaker 3: So Greater Philadelphia Convention Hall and Oats Parking Lot.
- 52:38Speaker 2: So see Now, now I've got to do research. I mean,
- 52:41Speaker 2: I'm Philadelphia, Hall and Oates, Philly, so.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Little things like that I appreciate. We're actually we're learning a.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Few things here, having fun and learning sometimes.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Where you get your phone? Where were Hall?
- 52:55Speaker 2: And you know? I can't go for that, Darrel Hall
- 53:00Speaker 2: and John No, it's commonly known as Hall and Oats.
- 53:03Speaker 2: We're an American pop rock duo formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Yeah,
- 53:08Speaker 2: in semony, there you go.
- 53:10Speaker 3: But Adrian says it's time for the trials, and because
- 53:14Speaker 3: he's doing really, really well, but he jumps into her arm.
- 53:16Speaker 3: So Marge sartingly realized, Oh, he likes her or than me,
- 53:19Speaker 3: or she's training him to like her more than me. However,
- 53:22Speaker 3: looking to himself in the hotel room. Then the historians
- 53:26Speaker 3: of America's greatest inventors and enlightened men are at the door,
- 53:29Speaker 3: and I was like, what is going on here? I
- 53:32Speaker 3: no idea? What was going on? I know, I sound stupid.
- 53:35Speaker 3: I didn't realize this is a national Treashmark guarantee. There's
- 53:37Speaker 3: other people out there watching this one who did know
- 53:38Speaker 3: what the episode is called and have no fucking idea
- 53:41Speaker 3: what's going on?
- 53:41Speaker 2: That is correct? Yeah?
- 53:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Also, their name is an anagram. Oh no, it's an
- 53:48Speaker 2: acronym HOGI, which is oh it is too yeah? Which
- 53:52Speaker 2: is another Philadelphia sandwich?
- 53:54Speaker 3: Yeah it is.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of sandwiches in Philly. This sounds like
- 53:57Speaker 2: a place I should go.
- 53:58Speaker 3: Yeah, why did we go there?
- 54:00Speaker 2: I should have just got on the train when I
- 54:01Speaker 2: went to New York all those years ago, because there's
- 54:04Speaker 2: hoggies and grinders.
- 54:06Speaker 3: I want to be like a food tour of America
- 54:08Speaker 3: through the Chicago Deep Dish Pie pizza. You know, I know,
- 54:15Speaker 3: if I can eat a deep dish pizza the way
- 54:17Speaker 3: they do.
- 54:17Speaker 2: It, it's it's literally, oh yeah, it looks like a
- 54:20Speaker 2: cake HOGI is an iconic Philadelphia style submarine sandwich consisting
- 54:25Speaker 2: of a long, crusty Italian bread roll filled with layers
- 54:28Speaker 2: of deli meats like salami, ham, capacho. I guess that's it, prevaloni, cheese, letuce, tomato, onions,
- 54:33Speaker 2: and top of oil, vinega and oregano. This is not
- 54:35Speaker 2: unlike the sandwich that I have when I go to
- 54:37Speaker 2: Roccos in Melbourne. Yeah, yeah, pretty nice. I made almost
- 54:40Speaker 2: I made a bit of one for myself the other day.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Apparently this is the late Great Anthony Bourdain's favorite sandwich.
- 54:45Speaker 2: You had a bit of mortardella, some provolone, bit of
- 54:48Speaker 2: Dijon mustard and some may. I just put that in
- 54:50Speaker 2: a nice roll. What kind of role though, archais of
- 54:53Speaker 2: roll like a continental.
- 54:54Speaker 3: Roll or something. I had that the other day. It's like,
- 54:56Speaker 3: what damn all? Don't you love it when you realize
- 54:59Speaker 3: you can make something on home, like a tenth of
- 55:01Speaker 3: the price correct that bordat was under something, Or sometimes
- 55:05Speaker 3: you make someone at home and you go actually cheaper
- 55:07Speaker 3: to just go to the shop and buy it because
- 55:09Speaker 3: all the ingredients that are buying actually costs more than you.
- 55:13Speaker 3: But the thing is, I feel like I need to
- 55:15Speaker 3: make a YouTube video now every Philadelphia reference in this episode,
- 55:19Speaker 3: because I'm actually letting some shit. Yet I didn't know
- 55:21Speaker 3: you know that the hogy I missed the HOGI yeah,
- 55:24Speaker 3: and I'm.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Gonna pull this face. Yes, you're gonna pull face.
- 55:31Speaker 3: And then they say they set as a little public and
- 55:33Speaker 3: solve all their problems. He notes with the treasures, they're
- 55:36Speaker 3: going about the Ben Franklin Treasure, and I was like,
- 55:38Speaker 3: what is that? Yeah, I was so confused.
- 55:41Speaker 2: But now whether or not there's sort of it's been
- 55:44Speaker 2: a long time since I saw the National Treasure movies.
- 55:46Speaker 2: Whether this sort of taken the piss out of how
- 55:48Speaker 2: convoluted those things were. They got a little bit like, wow,
- 55:53Speaker 2: there's a lot of history.
- 55:54Speaker 3: In this whatever. Like straight away, even the character of
- 55:56Speaker 3: Homer was like, you guys are actually out of your mind,
- 55:57Speaker 3: So what are you talking about here? But they Bahoma says, he, well,
- 56:01Speaker 3: i'd like this Inner Monologues. It should have been one
- 56:03Speaker 3: of my favorite moments where he says, you what I
- 56:05Speaker 3: can use this to help support March, just like a
- 56:07Speaker 3: lighter would.
- 56:09Speaker 2: And I must admit good restraint on the part of
- 56:12Speaker 2: the makers of this episode, because I think in previous
- 56:15Speaker 2: seasons it would have been this is the gag that
- 56:18Speaker 2: I was waiting for, because the way that it's framed,
- 56:20Speaker 2: it's like, oh, you're focusing on Home's forehead, You're gonna
- 56:22Speaker 2: pan down, and he's been saying all this out loud,
- 56:25Speaker 2: out loud, and they're going to go, you realize we
- 56:27Speaker 2: can hear you Home, Like, oh, you didn't do that.
- 56:30Speaker 3: He wasn't an idiot in this he was.
- 56:32Speaker 2: He was no fooonish, but not was he for foodish
- 56:35Speaker 2: A little way. He got in the back of the
- 56:38Speaker 2: carr and stowed a wave for eighteen hours.
- 56:39Speaker 3: Yeah, besides the fact that he's snuck to there, I
- 56:42Speaker 3: wouldn't say he was. At no point from what once
- 56:44Speaker 3: he gets to once he gets to Philly, at no
- 56:47Speaker 3: point is he trying or does he put March out.
- 56:49Speaker 2: That's true. But even though the stuff he's doing with
- 56:52Speaker 2: the HOGI people is kind of like, I mean, getting
- 56:55Speaker 2: all those selfies with the various Rocky statues and all that.
- 56:58Speaker 3: It's like, well, I think that's their way of getting
- 57:00Speaker 3: out of the way. Here's your here's your standard. The
- 57:05Speaker 3: Simpsons are going here. We're getting a bunch of references
- 57:07Speaker 3: out of the way. Yeah. But yeah, so he's crossing
- 57:10Speaker 3: off his bucket list of all the things he wants
- 57:11Speaker 3: to do in Philadelphia and at the same time keeping
- 57:13Speaker 3: them away from March. He says that they're gone sightseeing.
- 57:16Speaker 3: So then they go on the food binge and they
- 57:18Speaker 3: explained that Ben Franklin has treasure hidden somewhere, and then
- 57:21Speaker 3: he's send his little Helper to help them find it
- 57:23Speaker 3: because he's a descendant of Franklin's dog, he's Greyhound, and
- 57:26Speaker 3: he'll know where the key is to help find the treasure.
- 57:29Speaker 3: Turns out, though, that they didn't need a key in
- 57:31Speaker 3: the end at all, because sandesl Helpers opened the door
- 57:33Speaker 3: without a key.
- 57:34Speaker 2: He was the key.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, it's kind of like the Men in Blackwood?
- 57:38Speaker 3: Is it? Oh?
- 57:39Speaker 2: Yeah? The Ryan's belt is there? Yeah? The galley belt?
- 57:43Speaker 5: What?
- 57:44Speaker 3: Yeah. Margin suggests that Santas little Helper should go and
- 57:47Speaker 3: play or now this did you see this? The Michael
- 57:50Speaker 3: Vick reparation? Oh yeah, so quick, so quick, little side.
- 57:54Speaker 3: But if anyone doesn't know what Michael Vick did two
- 57:56Speaker 3: thousand and seven. He was a former NFL quarterback. He
- 57:59Speaker 3: played a guilty in twenty oh seven to federal charges
- 58:02Speaker 3: for operating Bad News Kennels, which was a brutal interstate
- 58:05Speaker 3: dog fighting ring on his Virginia property. He admitted to financing, training,
- 58:10Speaker 3: and participating in the illegal high stakes gambling operation which
- 58:13Speaker 3: involved hanging, drowning, and electrocuting dogs that did not perform. Well.
- 58:17Speaker 2: So, piece of shit in Michael Vick kind of a penis.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Yeah, terrible human being. And I'll get the joke because
- 58:26Speaker 3: it's a dog park. But still I don't think the
- 58:29Speaker 3: graving deserves to be acknowledged.
- 58:31Speaker 2: No, I don't think so either. Nah, strike his name
- 58:34Speaker 2: from the record.
- 58:34Speaker 3: Yeah, terrible, terrible. I don't give a shit what he's
- 58:36Speaker 3: doing now. Terrible human being. But even doing it the
- 58:38Speaker 3: first place. Adrian then says, we have to stay focused.
- 58:42Speaker 3: We can't be going to this park. We're gonna go
- 58:44Speaker 3: to the place where very important dogs go. And it
- 58:46Speaker 3: is where it's like it's a museum or something.
- 58:48Speaker 2: He isn't admit.
- 58:49Speaker 3: We find out in a second well, actually that's the
- 58:51Speaker 3: fire hydrant. It's the firefighter's museum or something, but Marge
- 58:54Speaker 3: gets left behind. They walk off and Margin's like, why
- 58:56Speaker 3: am I being left behind you? Then Homer gets the
- 58:58Speaker 3: photo in front of all the Rocky statues, which was
- 59:00Speaker 3: a villains from the Rocky films.
- 59:01Speaker 2: Well, all the characters Mickey the Trainer, you got Drago,
- 59:05Speaker 2: you got club A Lang.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Great characters, and they just demand that he takes them
- 59:09Speaker 3: to send as Little Helper, but he comes clean and says, look,
- 59:12Speaker 3: I I'm never going to be doing that. But then
- 59:14Speaker 3: they say, see Margin agent and walking with the dog anyway,
- 59:16Speaker 3: so they walk over to her and this is where
- 59:17Speaker 3: they enter the colonial fire fighting exhibit, and then the
- 59:20Speaker 3: other guys walking as well. They have a big argument.
- 59:22Speaker 3: She knows who they are and they think that and
- 59:25Speaker 3: Homer says, here they think Santa As Little Helper was
- 59:26Speaker 3: George Washington's grandson, and I was trying to keep them
- 59:28Speaker 3: away from you, and march As here, well he didn't
- 59:31Speaker 3: do it. Well, he did a great job. And I
- 59:32Speaker 3: was like, in no ways his Homo's fault. Yeah, but
- 59:37Speaker 3: she doesn't know, yeah, I know, yeah. But then Homer
- 59:39Speaker 3: thinks that she sees what was very kind of you
- 59:41Speaker 3: to say that? But I actually failed. Then they ordered
- 59:43Speaker 3: the guards take them away, and that's the last time.
- 59:45Speaker 3: We never see them again.
- 59:46Speaker 2: It's all right, by mate, Yeah, it's just it'sn't outing much.
- 59:49Speaker 3: They're just gone. Santa's little helping them peas on a
- 59:51Speaker 3: fire hydrant. It was like the first fire hydrant ever
- 59:53Speaker 3: built or something, and Adrian explains that, you know, I'm
- 59:56Speaker 3: one of them as well. I'm doing my research. I
- 59:58Speaker 3: want to find that treasure. She says that put something
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: special in the urine of his dogs.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Enzyme. We've bred a special enzyme into the urinary tracts
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: of his dogs.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: Like like that, what's the nightlight thing? What's it called
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: the black light? The black light? You call that black light?
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: So it reveals the message, and the message says hasten
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: to the first sewer. So I thought it said sewer
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: as well, So I do know. Yeah, and West so
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: with the lightning key, be blessed. Asian then blows her whistle.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: It says betray and he leaves with her and march
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: scrimams Adrian. We come back, and Marche is very sad.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: She just wants the dog back, and Homer says, we
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: need to solve this riddle. But I'm not smart like Lisa,
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: and we're not evil like Bart. So they call a
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: family meeting. Call back to when March is the family
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: meeting by the phone. I'm gonna say it zoom or whatever.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Smarty criminal. Figure out what this message means.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Hasten to the first sewer and west, so would the
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: lightning key be blessed? It's pronounced sewer genius.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: No, it's not sower.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: As in one who sows it must mean Bessy Russ
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: who sold the press American flag in Philadelphia in the
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: seventy seven That scheming trainer must be headed to Betsy
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Ross's house.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: That's a two thirty nine Art Street.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: How do you know that?
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: I pasted a bunch of times today while trying to
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: find m Night Shyamalan's grave, But in a crazy twist,
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: he's still alive.
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: Must be another Philadelphia.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Yeah, m Night Shamlain's a Philly go another one.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Yeah, if you are from Philadelhia, you probably would appreciate
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: this episode that actually did a well.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Christine an Angel is apparently a Philly ate.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: There we go. That makes sense.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and was very keen to install insert as much
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Philadelphia flavor as possible.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: They did a good job. Yeah, that are being blatant
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: obvious in your face gags, like when they come to
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Australia and it's just actually in Australia. It was more
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: like parodies of Australia. Wasn't it really like locations or anything.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Wasn't then go to the opera house or anything like that?
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: Did they know? But then they are like here, so
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: they're going to try and find Adrian, and they see
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: the twenty eighteen re enactment of the Super Bowl win,
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: so it's like, we won the Super Bowl, So I
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: think they must have played the Patriots or something anyway.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: But then they all hear a bark coming from an
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: eighteenth century lever they'd been recently pulled. Homer pulls it,
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: but he's too fat to get down the Colonial tube,
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: so Marge goes down there, and then this is where
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: Adrian reveals that she was never training him for the
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: dog show. This is the real dog show. She was
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: training him to get up here to find the key.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: Question is, though, how does she know what it looks
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: like if she didn't know where it was anyway? Does matter?
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: He ends up going up and he finds the key
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: and then he's on the He's on a platform which
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: looks very shaky, and Marge's like he can't take any
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: more steps otherwise you'll fall. She's saying stay, is in sit,
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: and Adrian's saying come come. Of course, she wants the
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Key's got the key in his mouth. She's about to
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: use a whistle, but then Homer gives her a what
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Philadelphia henshake with the de sail battery at her. Yes.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Then she which again is a call back because he
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: brought the batteries up earlier on Marshall to followed him
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: off for it. But then she blows the second whistle
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: that she has stashed away. But Marge says that she's
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: his mum and she begs him to stay and he sits.
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: He listens to Marge's a nice moment. Then Adrian starts
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: to try and climb herself caused the door to collapse,
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: and as the key falls out of his mouth, she
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: grabs the key in the air but falls down this
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: hole and that's the end of Adrian.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: She has gone, but go birds as she goes, which
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I guess shout out to Philadelphia the NFL.
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: Yes, But unfortunately, because of all the bubble Marge thinks
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: that he's dead. And she says, and she says a
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: line here, which is so true. When you get a pet,
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: you're not committing to having a family, You're committing to
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: having your heart with doubt one day because no matter
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: how long it is, it's never long enough.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: This is true.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Anyone who's owned a pet would know that this is
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: not a pet. Yes, yes, yeah, because look, it's never
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: long enough, is it. No? But then Homer says, he's
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: watching us from above. She's like, yeah, no, no, no,
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: he's not. Kind of even Christian him, no reel above
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: and he's up there. He's hanging from the rope as
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: Bahoma says, godble gobble, and he climbed his way up
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: the rope. And she says, you already have the key
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: to my heart. Who could possibly want anything else? And
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: I was like, oh, that's nice. I thought the I
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: thought the ending. I thought they stuck the landing here.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: I know you did. You didn't agree, but I thought
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: they As a dog lover and someone who recently lost
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: their dog, I thought they stuck the landing here.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: I'm a pet owner. And yeah, my little guy's been
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: going through some health issues as of late and yeah,
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: look it didn't quite land for me.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: Too. It was a little to raumatic and crazy, yeah,
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: for to feel like real emotion.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: And also yeah, the other thing was I mean I've
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: read some interviews they're like, oh, we wanted every pet
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: owner just like I feel this in their heart. And
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: I'm like, then you, I'm.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: Sorry that you treasure.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: You could have written it.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: A little better, could have written this as more realistic too.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: Yeah, not even just the realistic stuff, but yeah, just
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: I don't know the dialogue that Marge has given up.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: I mean, I understand that it sort of hits t iime,
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: and it does to me in some degree, but also
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: for like, I'm not quite buying this. I'm not It
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: feels asny bit insince here.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: Because you compare this moment to Bart's dog gets an
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: f well, where Bart was in the backyard with his
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: dog and he's just you know, you just want why
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: can't you just sit? What does he say? I thought
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: we're going to be friends forever and he's just like, fuck,
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: that's that's real emotion, that's correct. Yeah, you know where
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: this is emotional, but it feels like dialogue that's written
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: for to pack an emotional punch. That's right, as opposed
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: to a kid just saying come on, due, I thought
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: we're gonna be friends forever, and you're like, oh my god.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: But then of course he comes down. They start walking out,
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: he unlocks the treasure, barks. They don't pay an attention
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: to me. They think he wants to drive home. They say,
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: you can drive home, and that is the end of
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: the episode. But over the credits though, we get various
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: posters as boys too. Men are singing the Simpsons team
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: they're saying at the start, as well of Cree, which
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: is Mo and Drederic Tatum. We've got the Philadelphia story,
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: which is Marge the Dog and Adrian Philadelphia the movie,
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: just the Self Carl and the Blue Head Lawyer. We've
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: got the sixth CeNSE with the Wighams with Ralph and
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: Chief Mannequin with Jim Bow and Shawna and seventeen seventy six.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: What's seventy seventy six? It's a stage musical, stage musical, okay,
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: with Maggie coming, Evan Egg comsum he doesn't aging it
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: in some way, Yes, okay.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: That's the birth of the Birth of America.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: Okay. And the final one is of course National Treasure,
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: with Homer playing the Nicholas Cage role in the end. Now,
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: ilso want to give a shot it. By the way,
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: so this episode as a poster, they designed a poster
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: for this, right, which is that's it there by Bill Morrison. Well,
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: I'm now friends on facebo by the way. We should
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: him on the podcast at some point, but he posted
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: a thing this morning. It's quite interesting. It was a
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: clear idea of where the Simpsons are in twenty twenty six. Right,
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: this guy was hired to do this here first and
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: it came up look Morrison, so he designed this poster. Right.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: I didn't see the Simpsons ad episode poster on any
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: of the official Simpsons social media yesterday, so I don't
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: know what happened there, but it was apparently released and
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: I found it on the Simpsons wiki site. Just design,
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: pencils and inks are all done by me, and color
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: and topography done by Serban accompany. That's that last time
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: I apologized Serban christa Sue christ Sue Escu. So he
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: designed this poster for it, and then they just didn't
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: use it. And now apparently they have shared it today
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: and it's like shouldn't he be sharing it in the
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: lead up to the episode, not the day after it aired,
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: So I think I think maybe they've seen it and gone, oh,
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: maybe we should probably share that.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Well, there's a lot going on at Simpson's HQ at
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: the moment.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: Apparently, a lot of movie meetings apparently, So yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: but yeah, so that is a rational treasure I mean
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: by no means like a groundbreaking episode. I'm sure if
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: you're from Philadelphia you appreciate it. There was a fun
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: story in.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: There, Philadelphia, the gelong of America.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: I think I think if I watched National Treasure, I
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: might enjoy it more. But if you haven't seen National Treasure,
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: it's a pretty confusing.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: I think it's I think it's a pretty shaky premise
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: to sort of base an episode around, given that, yeah,
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: it's a movie that's like, it's well liked, but not
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: necessarily well Godfather or or even raised the Lost Ark
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: clearly wants to be Yeah yeah, So.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Just National Treasure for me, though, feels like a film
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: that Brendan Fraser would have done. One pint. I think
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: Brendan Fraser. I saw an interview from recently right and
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: it just made me sick to my stomach. So it
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: was a press junket took about some new film that
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: he's in or whatever, and the entire time it was
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: this guy who was my age talking about you meant
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: so much to me when I was a kid. I
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: just I just say, it's such a it to it
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: to meet you. Ask a fucking question.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Buckle up, Dando, because this is something I don't like
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: and I'm seeing a lot of it in my social
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: media feeds, particularly my Instagram feed. Yeah, you will see
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: a lot.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Of wicked press jun gets started this ship.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: It really did. Yeah that was that was not great.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: And yeah, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Ruvo were complicit in this.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: But now, yeah, you've got a lot of I'm sorry,
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: i'm gonna sound very boomerash here even I'm Generation X.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: But yeah, it's the kids who were just saying, yeah,
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: exactly what it's like, Oh wow, you mean so much
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: to me and oh you know, I can't thank you
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: enough for your body of work and all this kind
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: of stuff. I'm sure these people are probably asking questions.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: But the ship that goes viral they share though, No, no, yeah,
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: the ship that goes so that goes viral on social
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: media is just like, oh, thank you so much. And yeah,
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: and of course these are actors. Yeah, they've got big egos.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: They're gonna be like, hey man, thank you. I mean,
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: I don't want to name check particular people, but yeah,
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: there's one young guy in particular who just does this
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: all the fucking time, and I hate it. I hate it.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: So the thing is, I don't need to see Brendan Fraser.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: Just be thankful that someone gives a shit about him anymore.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: He won a fucking Oscar, didn't he. So like, this
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: is the thing.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: We said this all the time. Stop treating Brendan Fraser,
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: Oscar winning actor, got more money than you'll probably ever
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: have in your fucking life. Up, stop treating him like
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: a three legged dog.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: That yeah a pat I know, like we were fucking
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: on the bandwagon before and if you know, the motherfucker's word,
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: and now it's just like, oh, we need to make
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: Brendan Fraser look like he's tearing up, like don't worry.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: I like you, Okay, I promise that I like it.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: Like he's said, he's a fucking Oscar winning actor. Now
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: he's fucking Brendan Fraser. He doesn't need to know that.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: Oh when I was growing up, you meant so much
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: to me.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Fuck off.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: Oh it just makes me sick. Well, in tig it
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: went for nearly forty five seconds. The entire time is
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Brendan Fraser, who didn't say a word to sit down
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: and pretend like, yeah, it's tearing up. It's just so
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: think like fuck off.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Unfortunately, it's the way it is now.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the way old man shake's hands, clown Yes, anyway,
