Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football freeze, Chad Jensen and Zach Kilmer.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographical location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a state of being.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome in everybody.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: It is the Mile High Huddle podcast.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm your host Chad Jensen with me.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: My fellow football priest.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know him.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: You love him.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: Zach Calverman.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: Zach.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: First of all, you and I both hate April Fool.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, first fine.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's just another day.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: April Fool's.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what it is.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: Pardon me.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: But I've never, I've always just kind of hated pranks.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't participate in them.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_02]: When I see them, I just get irritated.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: Some people take a lot of joy in it all the way around, but let's just get this out of the way.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: Really quick, guys.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_02]: Please don't even ask.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: No, the Broncos are not interested in Aaron Rogers.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: They're not trying to bring them in for a visit.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: It was a poor taste and and poor ethics decision by Pro football talk to make a April Fool's Post on that today.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: It ain't happening.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when I heard that you hate April Fool's Chad, like I told you before you went live, I was so relieved because too often I get on here, I'm the wet blanket, you know, I'm the mean one or the miserable one, but like I cannot stand this holiday.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: I have always hated it.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's gotten worse than the era of social media.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: And what makes it worse Chad, you know, a media outlet has a professional obligations who it's readers to be verifiable, to be true and objective.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: He doubled down in that story.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: He explicitly said Florio.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: This is not an April Fool joke.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously it is.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: In no scenario is Aaron Rogers going to be playing for the Broncos in 2026.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that we're even talking about this right now is so frustrating.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's, uh, it's Asa 9 and it's just unprofessional.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: And even sites out there, Zach, I'm not going to name names that went on to aggregate.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: the joke like it that they actually did that's why it's in the broco bloggest fear it's like yeah i guess it's easy money for the taking if that's how you want to view it but you just lose all your credibility with your peers and your readers don't worry about it scot i'll just share
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, other one on the Facebook page.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: We got then the main MHH Facebook.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of those hi guests April fools.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's not wanting to connect.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll just do a share here in a second.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: But Zach, I mean, everything we heard this week will go through the final takeaways from the owners meetings.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there is a lot of news broken this week.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: The normally the for whatever reason the NFL owners meetings.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: We don't typically get a ton of stuff out of the Broncos, but this time around there's actually a lot to sink our teeth into between.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: Some of the stuff we talked about, George Payton and Panner earlier this week, but we got a lot to talk about from Sean Payton.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, pop a bad brother.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: Good to see you checking in on super chat a dear member helping us keep these lights on in uh, the first day.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: Here.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: We are the first day of April.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, buddy.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: And you know what that means by the way, guys, pop a bear.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: And he says God bless you.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: I say hashtag God bless Botanix amen amen bro.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: But Zach, uh, we're now officially in draft month.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I think it's going to just go quick from here.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, David.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I've just want today to be over with there's so many things that are going on and percolating on social media and to wake up to basically the Aaron Rogers nonsense chat.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, can we just get to the draft and it real tangible event already.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: But again, thank you, David.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: My problem is, I don't know if you guys know people like this, but I've recently learned that there's a, you know, a term for it, but I'm one of those people that it's like, don't really talk to me about anything that matters for about an hour after I've woken up.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: I have since learned because I'll just be a zombie like I'm still waking up, I'm not myself, and it's because I sleep when I have a hard time falling asleep, but once I fall asleep.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm out dude and I'm dead to the world and so when I'm I think that must have something to do with is that because when I wake up Manitakes me about an hour they call it sleep inertia and so I'm an easy mark for that kind of stuff I open up Twitter this morning.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, what is this be yes and ask Zach I DMed it to him and as soon as I hit DM send I also sent oh got me because like it took me a few extra snaps or fireings of the synapses act to go oh Yeah, it's April 1st
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know there's a term for it because I'm the same exact way.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's like until I at least have coffee into my system in the morning, do not approach me.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm zombified, like you said.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, when I was working day jobs and stuff, I'm going to college and all that stuff.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: Most of the time, it was fine because, you know, by the time you wake up.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: off in the shower, brush your teeth, do your thing, make your commute, you know, it's about an hour by the time you show up and have to be yourself somewhere.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: So it kind of worked out, but, you know, that was a long time ago.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, thank you, Papa Bear.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: We got Chris Hernandez in the house.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: A legendary mythical superstar, a dear member.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: and it's good to hear from your brother in April he says been crazy these last few weeks for me but i wanted to drop in say keep up the awesome work go Broncos click those little thumbs up.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much Chris man Chris was awesome i mean he's always awesome but last last season in particular Zack use i mean all every season to the nine he takes the
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: got reaction episodes you take the number of points times the number of wins.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, so generous, right?
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: And the insights he brings to the table, but he's still rockin' Zack.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: I will point out here.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: His vintage MHH swag in his profile pic.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that's why I said like I associate one term with Chris and that's definitely OG.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: You've been with us through the thick and thin for sure.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: You've been supportive every step of the way.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: So one small Chris, thank you so much, man.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_02]: And also fellow brother in punk rock.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: We come from the same era and we like the same kind of music.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: So Chris, brother, great to see you.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: And guys, take his message to heart.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: Click those little thumbs up.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: We need it.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: We need it.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: Awesome to see you, Chris.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: Hope the fam's doing well, big dog.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: Let me get that off the screen there.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: Zach, let's couple more quick.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: Hello, we're going to get to some content here.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: M-Blex, yeah, exactly did.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: And Rogers is exactly what this team needs to take it from.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: An AFC Championship game appearance all the way to a blowout wild card loss.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: Stormblast Chandler says, I was shocked to find out the report.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: Wasn't an April Fool's joke.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: Just fools making reports on April Fool's.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, kind of got it's just I don't know why I didn't have to why that the rope the Broncos and then you had every swing and you know what having to go okay, let me check my sources, you know, hey, is this true you know like.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you got to do your job.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: I understand that, but like to force people to have to even make that call is just, come on, Mike Floreo, dude.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: Todd Austin Dorf, what's going on, big dog?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: Hello Broncos country says never a chance that Rogers was coming.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: It was just for, yeah, it was a prank.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: What is an April Fool's?
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's a prank.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: And you can get away with it.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: only on this day.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: But even then, Zach, like, there should be some price to be paid in the social sense somehow, like, stop reading pro football talk, stop reading the sites that aggregated, that they did a prank report that the Broncos are interested in Aaron Rodgers, like, just don't give those people your business and maybe they'll get the message.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like the masses should have known that though, going into today, that PFT is not very credible.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: They live off the low hanging fruit.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Mike Florio was, not to put him on blast personally, Chad, but he was kind of an ambulance chaser if you know his background before he started getting into sports writing.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll leave that where it is, but these rumors aren't limited to just April 1st.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: I remember back in the, was it the combine last year, Chad and Indy, there was the rumor that the Broncos were bringing Grok out of her grok, excuse me, out of her pyromy, so any.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: So it seems like every once in a while, these crazy stories pop up and there's no truth to them whatsoever.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: Ron, what's going on, big dog, great to have you with us tonight, he's saying hit the thumbs up, subscribe, all that good stuff, become a supporter, a member on YouTube, brother, thank you pal.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's really good to see you.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: I see we got Mike Thompson in the house, good to have you buddy, some pretty good, some, seen some pretty good fulls day rage bait today, friends.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and there's no doubt about that.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: Pearl, what's going on.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: We got Roy.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Clayton on on Facebook.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: We got Sentinel.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: What's up, dude?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, I got to be honest after seven years here.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: I got admit.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: I ain't a Broncos fan.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a KC fan.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: My home says the gut.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, I can't.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: Happy April Fool's KC stinks.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go Broncos, baby.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: I was just lamenting it to Zach and Scott before we went live.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: We've already talked about this,
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like I never liked the Ashton Kutcher show on MTV back in its day pumped and like I don't know what it is Zach.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: I hate pranks.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's that I don't like to be made to feel stupid.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's really that though like.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: I gotta get to the bottom of it.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: You know what, next time I talk to my therapist, which who knows when that will be, I'll call somebody and I'll find a therapist and I'll say, help me understand why I hate pranks so much.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's because that gets waste time.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, if I'm really trying to like get, I just, I don't like it.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: I just think you're a mature compassionate person for your fellow man, Chad, you know, I don't really like him either, at least with the jackass crew, they only endangered themselves, unlike the punked crew, and now we live in an era of social media where the pranks, we live in an annoyance era where people just annoy others for the sake of clicks or reviews or monetization, and that's what pranks have become now.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's not even funny, it's just annoying.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: Let me get off my soapbox.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I can promise you that the PFT got themselves some clicks out of that today.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's almost certain to be true.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: So all right, let's get to some content here.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: We're about 10 minutes in.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: First things first, Zach, we heard from Sean Payton.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: Today's Wednesday, right?
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: So we heard from Sean Payton yesterday, what was the biggest thing that he had to say?
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he did say quite a lot of stuff that we're going to talk about tonight, but what in particular jumped out to you?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: I first thing in top of my head was what I wrote about for the website.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's only because I thought it wasn't a possibility.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: It was an interesting angle is the fact that he basically opened up the competition that backup quarterback.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: He welcomed it.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't explicitly say that Jared Sittam is in trouble of losing his backup job.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: He left it open.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: He goes, we didn't draft there for a reason last year.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: He likes to pick up some flyers at the position.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: But you could be a case where Sittam's not grandfathered in necessarily,
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how much I buy that.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was just something that he said for what it's worth like as long as you're paying your one quarterback, what is it something like eight million a year for steady.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't looked at his contract for a second, but it's something like that.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: And Ellen are two million.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: Especially after everything that Sean Peyton said about Tirit Stitham after Bonix went down with the glazing that took place at Mile High.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_02]: I have a hard time believing that his job Zach is really up for grabs.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: And for whatever it's worth, even if it were, I don't think Stitham will have too much of a difficult time fending off Sam Mellinger.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: It was coach big for sure.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: And he also talked about obviously Bonyx and affirmed what the company line is about Boe and it's that he's ahead of schedule.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: He'll be there for OTAs Sean also laid out the the offseason schedule for the Broncos.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: He goes you'll see us on the field in June and Boe will be there leading the charge as QB1.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: So that was the biggest takeaway for anyone that was speaking from the Broncos chat.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: How was number 10?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: How was Boe?
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: What's the status and we've learned that it's nothing but good news?
- 12:16[SPEAKER_02]: Man, I'm excited.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_02]: I am super excited about Bonyx and what the future holds.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: And just kind of how this team's coming together.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot Sean Peyton said we're going to talk about that next.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: But first guys really quick before we get into some of that stuff.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: We got to talk to you about something.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's awesome and very serious because Broncos Country never before his online privacy been more important.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: You've heard us talk about this before, but that's where Surfshark comes in and it's a game changer because Surfshark is a virtual private network, which covers all your online activity using a VPN guys.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's like this.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's like putting on a pair of pants, all the important stuff stays private and secure when you walk out the door, et cetera.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: Now once your device connects to the internet,
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: All the information is then encrypted, which keeps your online activity hidden from all the snoopers, the sleuths and the trackers.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: Those damn snoopers, guys, raise your hand like me, if you search for something kind of random, like prices on a Broncos jersey, and next thing you know, you're getting jersey ads every time you open up one of your social media apps or you browse online.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: Thankfully, today's sponsor Surfshark VPN can help us out with that.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: A VPN allows me to mask my real IP address with that my online activity is no longer being tracked by those damn snoopers and also allows you to set your VPN to a server in whatever location you wish.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: So certain content, for example, on Netflix or whatever, might be blocked in this market, but it's not in the other and it can give you
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of different options for that.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: They also offer Surfshark Alert and it's absolutely indispensable.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: The only thing scarier guys and forgetting a password is finding out that a password's been leaked online somewhere.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: The Surfshark Alert feature can help with this by constantly scanning the web for your personal info, things like your email address, passwords, even credit card details, guys.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: And it sends you an instant alert right away.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: If any of them appear in a data breach, it can be a lifesaver.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, so take control of your online privacy and protect yourself against data breaches by signing up with Surfshark VPN.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: It comes with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Go to surfshark.com slash mile-high or just go to surfshark.com and use our code mile-high at checkout to get four extra months of Surfshark VPN.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: Again, that Surfshark.com slash mile-high with our code mile-high and by the way, the URL and code to be found in our shows notes below.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Zach, let me get to some stuff here that actually let me check Mr. producer saying, okay, God, I won't come back to that.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's some deep, that's some deep waters there, Mr. producer.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Zach, Sean Payton.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: So a few things, I thought it was interesting like this guy reads the Internet, boys and girls, this guy pays attention to Twitter.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: He reads the articles and he heard all the,
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: doubt in all of the, what was the word, the angst that was taking place in Broncos country during those first eight days when the Broncos did not sign an outside free agent.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: They finally did make a move, right, with the trade, Jalen Waterland, everything, but he talked about how, you know, he heard this things like, yeah, do the Broncos, even, are they even like aware that
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: bonus.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's on a cost controlled contract for only so much longer like the window is closing.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: There's a clock on the next contract and I thought it was kind of interesting exact.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: Some of the things he had to say, like for example, quote, I think in fairness, I recognize that everyone would say, hey,
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: You have bow on his rookie deal.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: Well, no kidding.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: But just do the research.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: You go back that first week of free agency and if you're batten 380 or 395, it's about where the numbers lie.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: If you went back five years from now, just go backwards and said what they do it again.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_02]: And so the point here is that is.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: If you look at last season's free agent moves.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos sign, Talonohu Fonga, Evan Ingraham, Drey Greenlaw, Trent Scherfield, and then June.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: So months later, they sign J.K. Dobbins.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_02]: So if those five, how many would you say was a hit?
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: Who found good in Dobbins?
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: OK, so not Ingraham.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_02]: So what is that?
- 16:25[SPEAKER_02]: What's the math on that?
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: So we go 40s.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's patting 400.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: What did he say?
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: 3.83.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: 95.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's about where the numbers lie.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if you're a slugger in MLB, you're taking 400.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: You're taking, you know, you're going after that.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: But he stands act that with where they're at right now as a team, how close they got.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_02]: Last season that they don't need to risk those numbers basically blown up in their face and I guess he has a point even though I mean, let's be honest.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: The the biggest beef I think most Broncos fans had if they're truly being honest with themselves is It kind of once you get to the off season there's so few things to take joy and relative to your team football Free agencies one of the few things right that you get some joy out of and then comes the draft and then
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: pretty much that's it till training camp hits and when you rob the fan base of that for a time that's where the angst came from.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: But I think the vast majority's act of Broncos fans came right back to the campfire with the water train.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think this is a nice interesting cocktail of emotions here.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's being truthful, but I think he's also employing some deception or code speak.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he's also covering for his own hind, Chad, with the free agency period, not going how they intended.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: And the team admitted that themselves.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember if that was Sean or George Peyton, but it wasn't their ideal.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: But I understand what he's saying here.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's quality over quantity.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: you would rather swing and know that you're going to connect on at least a double then strike out.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: And the good thing is all the Broncos swung and hit a home run.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: I understand what Sean is saying there, but he can't be happy with what the fan base says.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: And with what they're saying internally, with how it worked out, I think they wanted to make a few extra moves that went by the wayside.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: So here is the article I wrote today and Zach amongst these things.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: Anything else that jumps out by all means I want to hear it.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: But takeaways from the owner's meetings, all right.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: We got Peyton was not forced to relinquish play calling now.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think we talked about this Zach on Monday night, but Greg Pender made it clear.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to emphasize a couple things he said.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: He said, quote, I think Sean always wants to do the best, what's in the best interest at this team in the Broncos organization.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: He and I obviously talked about it.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: This was entirely 100% his decision.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I think he's going to be, again, we have a lot of confidence in Davis.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Sean's going to be very supportive of him.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: Now, that close quote, what I want to emphasize in this is that he said it was 100% Sean's decision, which would be easy to say if, for example,
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: you're the boss, you're the owner, you call Sean in as some people wondered and speculated may have happened and say I think you should give up play calling because I want to make sure we don't lose Davis Web and I think that might be the last thing that holds on to him and you know you want to please your boss so are you on board with that and Sean Peyton says yeah all right it would be easy then in such a scenarios act to say
- 19:23[SPEAKER_02]: that he was, it was 100% his decision to say, for example, I think we should do this.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: What do you think coach and coach reading the tea leaves going, oh, this is what my boss wants.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, but by him saying this part, Zach, entirely comma 100% his decision.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_02]: I take that to me that it was also Zach his idea.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: So this was a Sean Peyton in my opinion.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: I believe it.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: Now real quick, we could go out into the weeds and take every single thing we're gonna talk about tonight and say, oh, coach, speak what else are they gonna say?
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: All we can do is analyze what's put in front of us and look at it like, hey,
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: from a logic perspective, what are the odds, even if you want to be skeptical that this is the truth, what are the odds that on the hills of his third season as the head coach having led this team literally from the NFL doldrums to the brink of the Super Bowl word not for a freak injury, all of a sudden an owner of three, four years is going to step in and ask him that coach to make wholesale changes like this.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: I believe him in other words,
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't think every quote that comes out is deception or lie or coach speak or this or that.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: I do think there's truth in what they're saying.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: And for example, I agree with you.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think Greg Pender was being truthful there.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: But there's also, to me, at least, a level of, what else are they going to say?
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like if Greg Pender would have came out and said, yeah, I'm the one who forced Sean Payton's hand.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: It would completely go against their own thesis, their own foundation, their own goal and benchmark, which is to be outside of the picture and let the football people, George and Sean Payton
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I agree with you here.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: I do think it was Sean's decision, and I don't think he was being forced by management, but there is a level of, I don't know that they're going to let us in, even if there is a truth that they're concealing, they're not going to let us in publicly.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: Here's a point, Zach, where this, I think there's some merit to say, and well, what else are they going to say?
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: And that is that the Broncos say they're not interested or planning on trading any wide receivers.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_02]: And specifically, what George Peyton said was, when he was asked, hey, could you possibly with the Jalen Wattled Trade pushing guys down the Dept chart?
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: Is that a way that you could improve the team by maybe trade one of these guys?
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: And he just said, emphatically, no.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: right and then at different points during his remarks talked about you've heard me say it once you've I'll say it again we really like our wide receiver room now this is yes Zach if this all acknowledge and say what else is he going to say here like if the phone rings though we know George Payton Zach is going to answer and he's going to listen and if the offer makes sense he'll
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, we covered this on KK yesterday and I said, Chad was absolutely right with his premise here.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to initiate the calls more than likely, but they will damn sure have a conversation and pick up the phone if one does come in.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: But this is a case where I would just said a few minutes ago, it's like, if you come out and say we're planning on trading one of these guys, they instantly lose their value.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: By saying that they're valuable that we want to hang on to them, it increases their value.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of just a game.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's you want what you can't have, psychologically.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's see what else we got.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about the botanics going to be ready for OTAs.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: We don't need to spend much time on that.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: That one's we already kind of knew.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_02]: How about this one, Zach?
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos likely are not done at running back.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: So this comes via something George Payton said where you said Monday, quote, we're going to be looking in the draft.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: and we're going to be looking after the draft.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: We're always looking and then he reminded everybody, we didn't sign JK until like May or June last year, it was June.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: We feel good with where we are right now.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: He also talks back about.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: They're believed that RJ Harvey, they were super stoked and what he was able to contribute as a rookie, they felt like he got better as the season went, kind of war on and while there's some ways to view him that way, I think overall it was pretty clear he kind of hit a rookie wall about the time that JK went down and he just wasn't ready to be that first and second down grinder quite yet.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: But I think they realized that even if Zach publicly they're saying,
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: we think he's going to get even better there's truth to that like that was his first year yes he's going to get better but Zach I believe this I believe the Broncos are not done at running back the question is when it comes to the draft for me is are they going to use another high-round pick like a second rounder their first pick in this draft on a running back
- 23:55[SPEAKER_02]: I have my doubts, which probably removes the likes of definitely jadarian prize, probably Mike Washington.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: But there's a chance a guy like Jonah Coleman might be there when you're back on the clock fourth round pick one eleven overall.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is another one I agree with you.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're telling the truth here.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: They're not really saying much, but it's kind of obvious as well.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: They realize JK Dobbins is injury prone.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: They realize RJ Harvey's on an RB1.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: They had interest of in other free agent running backs, including Kenneth Walker and I think was Chris Rodriguez.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: They checked in on before he signed elsewhere.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, they're going to add one.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: We just don't know when exactly, but Mike Washington, like you mentioned, chat around to potentially that would be a nice consolation press.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: uh... real quick take a pause on the takeaways taught dear member says i'm not sure if i miss this being talked about but part of the story was that bow is not gonna be ready for the season yeah that's part of the story but it's not true that was part of the fake air and rogers thing that pft came up with that that rogers would be that they're interested in rogers because they're not certain bows can be ready by week one but none of its true time
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's none of it at all.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: Not one aspect of it is true.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: So please keep that in mind.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't even want to give it any more airtime.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: Completely fit.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it's just it's not it's not real.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Zach.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: Confidence in the post John Franklin Myers plan on the D line and you have the right up for us on the site, but I just want to read a couple of things Peyton said here where he said quote, just going into it,
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: We have Sabion Jones.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: We have our four guys coming back, our starters, and then any, which is what they call, uh, who was a Rika really came on last year.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: And then, of course, Sabion Jordan Jackson.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: We have pretty good depth, but you're always looking for big guys on the offensive and defensive lines, Zach.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think, uh, D-line is one of those positions, in my opinion, before we even heard this, very much on the table in the draft.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be looking there.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: They'll have their guys that if they're on the board where they have the value, they'll take them and if not, and even if they do take one, but especially if not, I still think there's a move to be made after the draft with a guy named Cam Jordan.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: I do too, yeah, I think it's almost, I don't want to say guarantee because I'll be looked at like an idiot if I'm wrong, but you're going into the season, basically, even if you draft a rookie, you have a young, stable young, Jones, you have a young, basically a wizardry cave who missed a year with the suspension or whatever the betting thing.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then you have the rookie, you need a veteran presence in there.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's why JFM was the excellent bookmark to Zach Allen.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm right there with you.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: If not, Cam Jordan, maybe they trade for one, or maybe they look to see after June 1st,
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, so there you go.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see what happens now.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't had a chance to talk about this.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: Jonah Ellis being moved to inside linebacker.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: So the Broncos, this really boils down to the Broncos want, first of all, they have a need.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: They have, they lost their third linebacker by releasing Jray Greenlaw.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: Drew Sanders is by far not as sure thing.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_02]: Meanwhile, Ellis is this player that they believe in greatly, that is kind of buried behind an all-pro and a guy that's playing on a big second contract, Jonathan Cooper, and so they want to get him on the field.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: But what Sean Payton said yesterday was, you're going to see, quote, you're going to see Ellis take some snaps inside.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: That is something that we've discussed relative to our depth at the edge.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: Then we'll see where that goes during the draft.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_02]: So linebackers potentially
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, if it'll load, there we go.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_02]: On X today, quote, most versatile player in football, Jonah Ellis he's saying, I have no doubt he will make plays no matter where he is lined up.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: Hunter.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: So what are your thoughts on the Broncos knowing that granted this was a few regimes back.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't work out when they tried to switch positions on, on, on, to Marcus Walker.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: Drew Sanders switched from inside to outside in the back to inside didn't really pan out.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: What are your thoughts?
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you basically just nailed it.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about this on KK and real time yesterday.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't I just count completely what Benito said.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's another example of what else is he going to say about his teammate.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like this and this is a situation where I hope Chad they're being uh it's a smoke screen that they're going to draft it inside linebacker with their with their first pick in the second round.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: He has no business being in an inside linebacker and I'm scarred by the Marcus Walker.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm scarred by Drew Sanders.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, this will officially end any hope of the Drew Sanders Renaissance.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's a lost cause.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't be surprised if he's released outright this summer.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: But Jonah Ellis could probably start for about 10 or 15 teams right now and outside linebacker.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: He was even given me enough confidence shed that you can trade Jonathan Cooper and bump him into starter.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: Why would you do that?
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: Why overload him in two positions and set a letting him just blossom at one?
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: And on top of that, you're moving him around to cover it inside linebacker.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: Why did you cut your green wall then?
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: Only to bring back strut on in Singleton?
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how to manage inside linebacker.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how much influence VJ has on this, but I don't like the way in the direction of their going.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_02]: I do believe them that there is part of the motivation behind this anyways act is just kind of a
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: We just want to find a way to get Jonah on the field more because we feel like he's an impact player hard to do that when one guy is racking up 1415 sacs is one of the premier edge defenders in the NFL and the other guy is giving you roughly close to 10 sacs a year and he's highly paid so I do understand that but I'm with you do it overall like I have my doubts if this is going to work a and if it doesn't work all it's going to do is
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: downed unfortunately not to Jonah Ellis's benefit.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: It could retard in the true sense his development as an Eddresher and you know the cost of the Broncos what could have been on a third round investment.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: So let's hope that this becomes a non-issue act because maybe they go out and they draft a guy or something at the end of this month.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: To some Phil checking in on Facebook, what's going on?
- 30:09[SPEAKER_02]: Phil, great to see kind of a little bit of a quiet room tonight, but it's understandable.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, guys, we're in April now and Broncos fans are like, wake us up when we get to the draft.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_02]: But not those of you who are with us, you're the hardest of the hardcore.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: your crazy sickos like us, but Phil says a good evening, Chad Zach and Deacon Scott, is it possible that we see him move to inside lineback or Jonah Ellis?
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: It might be a good move.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I mean, it's possible.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: That's what they're saying.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_02]: Right?
- 30:38[SPEAKER_02]: They're saying it's possible.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_02]: Zach and I have our doubts, but if we try to put his positive spin on this, that's as possible.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I just go, look, when he's bent on the field, he's been a playmaker.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_02]: He does have a little bit of experience from his time at Utah in college early in his career playing off the ball a little bit not always on the edge so I could see him because he has brought two brothers that are good inside linebackers I could see him probably doing fine, but is it an instance of stepping over a dollar to pick up a dime you feel me like.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: What he'd be maybe better off sticking at what he does is at one of the best depth ad pressures in the NFL or kind of like just stopping the bleeding at inside linebacker.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I hate to say it though.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't wish this to happen.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'll knock wood, but the Broncos are one snap away from Ellis starting an outside linebacker anyway.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: If Cooper or Benito gets hurt, and the thing about getting him on the field, I seem to recall the Broncos have four outside linebackers, edge rushers.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: They got on the field in their NASCAR package, Vaughn Miller, Demarkisware, Shane Ray and Shackbeard.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: If you wanna make something happen, you can make it happen.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to change positions to get him on the field.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that I buy that too much.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's kind of interesting, but he feel I'll say this again in the positive sense.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's a smart player.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_02]: He is very talented.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_02]: Nick Benito complimented him big time today on X and he's the most versatile player in the NFL.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I was pretty hype, but he did say it, Nick Benito, most versatile player in football.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see how it shakes out, brother.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for checking in.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's great to see you today, Philip.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: Hope you're doing well, big dog.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: Shout out to Chase, who says, I don't mind it.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think Ellis and some packages to rush the passer from the inside could be very intriguing.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, that would be the key.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_02]: some packages, but you got to remember like the inside linebacker's that more often than not.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's always those blitz calls that will come in, VJ likes to blitz double a gap, all that stuff.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: It happens with the inside linebackers, but more often than the blitz that linebacker's job on a passing situation is to what?
- 32:47[SPEAKER_02]: drop back into coverage and that's where we're not so sure exactly how quickly he would take to that because even guys that could be doing it a long time as the linebackers that's the hardest part arguably of their job in terms of not that coverage is harder than tackling obviously takes more effort to tackle but I mean in terms of being good at coverage and understanding the concepts and all that stuff it just takes him longer to figure that out.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that one of the astronauts' strong suits, though, is blitzing, though?
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: What else is he really bring to the table at least to war in a starting roll off the bat?
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: And if you want an inside linebacker that can rush the passer, how about drafting an inside linebacker as a future starter and not converting an outside linebacker?
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, maybe I'm being too reactionary.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: Again, man, like, why are you doing this?
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: It would, it would also make a little bit more sense.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: If Drew Sanders was, if he'd already moved on from Drew Sanders or you were, but it also, yeah, that's a good point.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I should have thought of that when I was writing up this article, in fact, two times.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: I wrote the article about what Peyton said and then I included it in the takeaways piece, the implications that is of Jonah Ellis being asked to take some snaps at inside linebackers that, what does that say at the Broncos view of Drew Sanders?
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: It says he's a lost cause, and I don't know what it says about the group as a whole.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like they downgraded and they're taking a step back every day.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of understand the Drake Greenlaw release, but they were so just insistent, Chad, and they'll admit it to you.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: They felt they couldn't lose singleton and sternat.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what have they done?
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Those two players to warrant that sort of reputation.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: Anthony on YouTube says that Ellis, yep, he played that role in college a little bit, especially early.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: And he did great with the past last year.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, again, what gives me hope if this is true is just that he is a very good player.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's very smart and he's got two brothers, aside from his teammates and the coaches.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_02]: He's got two brothers.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_02]: He can talk to about inside linebacker and just like that also kind of serves hopefully as a little bit of
- 34:46[SPEAKER_02]: Encouragement wealth these other two guys can shine at that that or his brothers, maybe he can too.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_02]: So that's the idea Chase says I'm willing to bet he won't be the plan at the third inside linebacker spot, but we shall see what's the point right
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: I and Chad really quickly and correct me if I'm wrong.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: I should know this, but aren't Korean A read and Leville Bailey still on the roster for 2026 and Jordan Turner.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: So three young inside linebacker prospects, two of which off the top of my head made tangible plays and past covered, tangible plays and inside linebacker.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: Why not just invest in them?
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: Why are you taking your best
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, up and coming past for us and take and putting more on his plate, I don't know.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see how it shakes out.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: Mr. producer has a good insight and especially, you know, all his experience doing scouting and stuff.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: He says outside linebacker is an athlete's position inside linebacker is a cerebral position.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_02]: If you're athletic enough for outside linebacker, you're a plus athlete at inside linebacker, but here's the caveat, do you have the instincts?
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: That's the that's the key right there's that.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, like you said, I'd be Kate and Ellis, his brother is a true natural insight linebacker.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: They could have signed him this offseason.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Zach, moving the kick in the ball down the field here a little bit.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: How about this one, guys?
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: Adam Troutman was a top priority.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: Sean Payton's dying on that hill alongside his, uh,
- 36:15[SPEAKER_02]: you know, personal favorite tie-dend.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: We also learned before we talked out that JK Dobbins was like the priority.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_02]: He was like their top priority.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: The 17 guys they brought back, even though it didn't happen in order.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_02]: JK Dobbins was like the most important thing to the Broncos of those 17 guys.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: But here's what Sean's Peyton said of the decision to bring back, Trump unquote.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_02]: You know exactly what you're getting in the player.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_02]: He says, look, if we want to run the ball well, he's one of the better blocking tight ends.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_02]: He's really good in past protection.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: We evaluate every ounce of the tape.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be leery if someone that grabs three clips.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_02]: We know exactly what Adam is.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: That was just going to take some time to see where the market value went.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm glad he's back.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: And we can get into that exact, but how did you know what the market value was?
- 37:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so who tampered?
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I still don't understand that.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: Troutman's comments as well.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: He said he had competing offers, and he's one of the best blocking tight ends in the league, and this and that talking himself up.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: I know they don't trust PFF, and that's what he said himself Troutman, but they graded him as the 66 tight end in the NFL out of 75 chat, in terms of his past blocking, he got a 51.5 excuse me, run blocking 51.5 mark.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the lowest among all active tight ends in the NFL last year.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: The myth that he's this elite blocker is just that myth.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's a jack.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: We know what we're getting out in Troutman, a mediocre average replaceable player.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Adam Troutman is.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: Definitely not a $6 million man, and yet that's what he's going to get paid.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of those things where we're just not going to see it the same, and it's just kind of have to take the wing critique it and we'll always scratch our heads over it, but my advice to fans instead of getting too upset over it is just in Peyton we trust and hope for the best on this because I look at it, Zach, and I think six million bucks that could
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: David and Joe could still out there like there are some better options where you could upgrade but then again this is something Peyton talked a lot about yesterday.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: Sean that is
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: guys that we already know.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not just guys who we understand what they can do, they fit our system, we know that, but like cultural fits, we know how quickly they pick up information, this and that.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: That was worth more to them than say, you know, the questions of David and Joker, for example, obviously a better athlete, obviously a more accomplished player in the league's act than Adam Troutman.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: But he didn't have those other facets that right now the Broncos are prioritizing.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: How's this for a cultural fit, Jake Juan McMillian, who's going to make a pit and sauna on a restricted for agent tender, whatever it is, Chad, when he's a prime extension candidate, he's one of your best up and coming defensive players, one of the best slot corners in the NFL, former undrafted for agent.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: I would rather the 18 or 17 million, whatever it is that they pay troutmen, should have went to McMillian.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: They could have allocated that money in a billion different ways.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that he got a three year deal still blows my freaking mind.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_02]: Here's an interesting builder on the whole Ellis thing.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: If Ellis is moved inside, Phil says that was does that mean Bon Miller comes back, I hope not, that to me would be a really interesting way, hard to explain way, like make it make sense of creating room for Bon Miller.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: I hope this doesn't come to past fill and I know it might be blasphemy, but he wants to come back.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: He can sign a one day contract, retire as a Bronco, he can join the coaching staff, he can join the front office, he can do whatever he wants.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that I want Vaughn Miller as he is now, despite the, you know, little renaissance get last season, taking snaps away from Jonah Ellis or from Dondrae Tillman or from Nick Benito or Cooper for that matter.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what the plan is, Phil.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's to bring Vaughn Miller back, though.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't, but that's still interesting thought filled.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: We'll keep an eye on that as the off season progresses right along at pace.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about the Bonax contract clock.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, the Broncos are well aware of it.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about the backup quarterbacks.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think talk too much yet about this.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_02]: And that is that the new preferred.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: The preferred new stadium site, quote, unquote preferred.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: They have other options, but Burnham Yard is where they want to go.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_02]: is still on track.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_02]: And it's an ambitious goal they have to open in 2021, pardon me.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's only five years from now, guys.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_02]: That 2031 feels like you're watching Blade Runner or something, but we're almost there.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's only five years from now.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_02]: And so they're saying everything's on track, Zach.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_02]: But things are still a little bit up in the air.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_02]: Really what they need right now are the right dominoes to fall.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_02]: So they can get moving forward on this thing, but at least it's on track for now.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_01]: And we know, you know, capitals not a problem for the Broncos, so like you said, all they need is that to fall into place and also time, I do think they will make their mark here and like five years, it seems like a blink of an eye, but what they can get done now with construction technology in this in that chat, it's going to be just a Metroplex of all things Broncos, I cannot wait.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see what some of the folks in the chat say Todd says.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_02]: I saw that Sean Peyton was either thinking of thinking or aware of other teams who were interested in development.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we want to know is who?
- 41:47[SPEAKER_02]: Because legally, remember, legal tampering opened on a Monday, okay?
- 41:52[SPEAKER_02]: 10 a.m. local time.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_02]: Trapman was resigned, agreed to terms all that Sunday.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: And so teams by rule are not allowed to talk to players on expiring contracts until that legal tampering window opens.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: And yet, Troutman himself said that
- 42:11[SPEAKER_02]: there were teams interested in them and on pages said yeah we just needed to see what the market was at and yet who was at the report it was at Luca Evans Zach of the Denver post how much of this really did have to do with the market when we're told the Broncos had allocated six million bucks to tie the end they weren't going to spend more than that in free agency.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, who are the teams?
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: Who was it a collection of Adam Troutman's family and friends all 22 of them?
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: Is that count as one of the teams?
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even think they would value him at $6 million a year.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so they can come out and prove who was betting on Adam Troutman at that rate.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: I still believe Chad, they were leveraging against themselves for a jagged item.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of tight ends, our dear buddy Keith says, I'm hoping for a good year from Caleb Loaner, who was, let's remember, speaking of former Utah youth guys, last year's seventh round pick, Sean Payton talked him up, and kind of made it sound like, woo, this guy, the broncus might already have a plan.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: They might already have a vision, but then you got to the real training camp stuff.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_02]: he was clearly as a as a career basketball dude in college that behind the April on some of the lunch pale aspects of being a pro tight end.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_02]: But now that he's had a year on the practice squad, they did cut him and he stayed on the team as a practice wide guy.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_02]: How are you feeling about loners outlook year two?
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: Well, honestly, I hate to make this kind of analogy, but for anyone who's ever played this stock market, you know that your portfolio kinda has like a lot of sector where you put like just, you know, flyers, literally lot of tickets and you know in lot of is that it can either move to like five or 10 times or it could all dilute to zero.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of how I feel about Caleb Loaner, a guy who's literally the rawst Titan prospect I can recall chatty at four career receptions in college.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: I understand they all went for touchdowns, but a guy who's still learning to play the position, a former basketball player.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: If he ends up becoming that moonshot and he takes off great as a seventh round pick, but I would not be surprised that I'm kind of also expecting a scenario where he just goes to zero.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: They just have to cushion themselves for that for both scenarios.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I am not, I'm hopeful.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Keith, like, I hope, right, I'm trying to, you know, in the perfect world.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, so hope, yes, expecting no.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_02]: Caleb Loner probably is gonna shake out.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I hope I'm wrong.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_02]: I hope he goes on too.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_02]: to make an impact this time around.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I hope that year he spent with the team, went through a whole off-season, Zach went through a whole training camp, spent the whole actual regular season and that playoff run on scout team and all that stuff.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: Working with the coaches, honing is blocking.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to find out pretty quick, I think, Zack in training camp.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: How much that stuff took for loaner and if you, you know, it's going to pop right out of the gates in other words.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_02]: And if you start here and really good things about Caleb Loner early on by that, I mean blocking, you know, assignment stuff, then I'll start getting excited, but beyond like hope, hope and expectations
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's literally the offensive version of Drew Sanders.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: If he works out great, if he doesn't, I'm not going to be surprised.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_01]: But what's his path to playing time, though, Chad?
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: You're keeping presumably Evan Ingram as a starter.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's the past catching Titan.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: You gave Adam Trauma to three-year contract as the blocking Titan.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: You brought back Lucas Crow by the way.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't they bring back Nate Adkins as well?
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: They're literally running back the entire depth chart.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: So even if Caleb Loner breaks out this summer, what's his path to playing time?
- 45:43[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if they don't add a tight end in the draft.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: So let's just say this is the room that goes into camp.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_02]: There's only one guy who could really target to unseat.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_02]: And in my opinion, relative to like one skill set replacing another similar skill set, it would be Lucas Crowle.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: Crowles the guy that would be vulnerable.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_02]: to a Caleb Loner rise.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_02]: He'd be the first guy out the door if Loner shows up to camp rockin' and rolling.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: And there's a chance that he could, I mean, six foot eight, 200, whatever, 50 something pounds, like six foot seven, sorry.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_02]: He's a big guy and even Sean Payton's act when he was talkin' about him after the draft last year.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_02]: He talked about kind of similar to how when he met Bonix for the first time to work about Norgen.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_02]: He was kind of impressed with his physical,
- 46:31[SPEAKER_02]: just how big he was and thicken all that and he kind of same thing with loners like if you ever shoot this guy's hand you're just like impressed by how big and then the way he moves as an athlete that's all fine and dandy but can he translate it all into what it takes to be a tight end on the field.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_02]: Other guys have done it that came from basketball backgrounds but it doesn't make it any easier to do.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the problem though, if his main competition as Lucas Crowell, that his issue is that Lucas Crowell is a Sean Peyton guy.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_01]: Not maybe not to the level chat of Old Jordan Humphrey or Adam Troutman, but there's something that draws Sean Peyton to Lucas Crowell.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: So it's gonna be tough for Loner.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: I do hope that he breaks out because every team is looking for the next Antonio Gates and or Jimmy Graham, who Sean Peyton had in New Orleans, but to expect even him to be half of that,
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: It might be too much to ask for Caleb Loner in here too.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see how that works out.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_02]: Great topic, Phil Keith.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_02]: You got us thinking, Big Dog, Cody Dubb.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, remember.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_02]: Legendary Superstar, checking in to say, there's only one guy on this team, which by the way, I think it's like, let me see, yeah, number three tonight, brother, thank you.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Cody.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: I says there's only one guy on this team, I think that's versatile enough that he could switch to middle linebacker, and that's Talinoa Hufanga, and I absolutely do not want that.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, you could probably hang there, but he's two is more valuable where he is and I think you could say the same thing about Jonah Ellis and it kind of just smacks Zach of guessing you know they're just kind of like guessing a lot of times you'll see it in professional life sometimes change gets made for the sake of change.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_02]: because something needs to change and so people above you, they make, we'll call them guesses.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_02]: This is the whole Ellis thing's at, it's a guess.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_02]: Now, it's an educated guess because he does have the background, he does have the bloodline, so to speak, with his brothers and he's a guy that want to see more of, because he is impactful when he's on the field, but again, are you stepping over a dollar because he could give you that dollar impact as an Eddresher to pick up a dime because he could maybe
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: one is way more valuable than the other.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how the Broncos don't see that, but who Fonga would get killed.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's a great great safety.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: He plays the box in the run and blitz his very well.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_01]: But if you switched him to middle linebacker, he would get washed out in the run game so quickly.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's not built for that.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's not an inside linebacker.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: And you'd be taking away a damn good safety, a proble caliber safety, just to make up for your deficiencies in inside linebacker.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, Chad, a few years ago, they had Mark Baron, and another safety as well.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: They tried making him the dimebacker.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of just committing to an inside line backer, investing in one and building up one properly, they tried going about it the wrong way.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_01]: If you wanted inside linebacker, they could do those things, draft one, develop him, and build him up.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so Cody, appreciate your support, and us tonight, buddy, on this, we're getting deeper and deeper into the offseason.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_02]: The first day of April, bro, thank you.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate your support, my brother.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_02]: It really helps us keep the lights on.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know this.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_02]: Emblex is flexing his emo references here.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a loner, Doddy, a rebel.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_02]: Who was that?
- 49:48[SPEAKER_02]: Get up, kids, get up, kids.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: I remember it because I worked in a record to store for a while in college.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_02]: So I remember those days, brother, good to see it again.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_02]: David T, what's up, bro?
- 50:01[SPEAKER_02]: He says, we don't need too many changes in our lineup.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: If it's not, bro, don't fix it.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_02]: See?
- 50:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I did.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's actually talking about P. P. We.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_02]: Did you ever watch P. We's big adventure.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_02]: Zach, when you were a little kid or was that before your time?
- 50:20[SPEAKER_02]: No, I've seen it just it's been decades.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: So it's an utterly ridiculous movie, right?
- 50:25[SPEAKER_02]: P. We heard him in the whole thing.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_02]: But when that movie came out, the large margin scared me to death.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm talking about where large margin does the
- 50:35[SPEAKER_02]: And the face thing, you know, I'm talking about in the in the truck, the only large market.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: If you remember large margin as a kid, a child of the 80s, that's, uh, I can't believe I missed that.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: And Blacks.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, buddy.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but there is a get up kids song by that title, and obviously we now can connect the dots on what inspired them.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Zach, something else I want to grab here.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_02]: So this is something Sean Payton said.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_02]: about, hey, you know, when you lost JK Dobbins, obviously the consistency of the run game went down the tubes, how do you find the consistency?
- 51:11[SPEAKER_02]: And here's what he said, quote,
- 51:13[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, that could be a position that gets addressed if the opportunity presents itself.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_02]: We love the way RJ played.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_02]: We ran it more consistently earlier in the year than we did later in the year.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like how we rushed it in the postseason.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's one way to take pressure off your quarterback and I think that will be a focus.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_02]: This is that close to that quote there to me another example of,
- 51:38[SPEAKER_02]: George Peyton that was champagne, but George Peyton earlier being a little bit more overt.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're going to look in the draft for run back.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_02]: They're not done at running back.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: Now, will they get the guys they kind of like in this draft with only one pick in the top 100 currently, maybe not because there are opportunities and limited, although they could always try and package and trade up with things will see, but they're not done at running back.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_02]: JK was a priority getting him back for obvious reasons.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_02]: We've been going over it a million more times, but.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_02]: They know they need a backup plan.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_02]: They need a little insurance for JK Dobbins.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that was disingenuous and I understand why it was, though, he can't come out and explicitly say we're going to draft a running back, but he said this was a translation, we liked how RJ Harvey played, but not really, and we're going to think we're going to find someone that can, that can service the back field better than RJ Harvey.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what he's right.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_01]: RJ Harvey was not an RB one when asked a step into JK Dobbins shoes he failed.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's a good pass catching back third down back, but they need help on the early down.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're going to go after a running back and I could be fairly early.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: Could be the second route.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man, you still you still after all these years, Zach.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_02]: You can really crack me up.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: Let me grab this.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_02]: This is this is interesting story.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's not so much like, ooh, takeaways, but let me.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_02]: Let me get, I wonder if you guys saw this while I'll make you it up.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's Sean Payton yesterday.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_02]: He's being asked about the fourth quarter, heroics of Bonix and how Caleb Williams also was right there, right?
- 53:19[SPEAKER_02]: Because both of them had eight, fourth quarter,
- 53:22[SPEAKER_02]: comebacks or have eight fourth quarter comebacks over the last two years, which ties for the most of any quarterbacks in the NFL.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_02]: So basically, for the last two years, they've been the two best guys you want to have the ball when the chips are down in the fourth quarter and you're trailing.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_02]: But as this reporter is asking him, Courtney Cronan, listen, is it on the screen's
- 53:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay, here's what he said that opportunity is elsewhere, so it's hard to deal with it.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_01]: What's that similar?
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: A little different.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: But is there a curial for a person's better?
- 54:01[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Zach.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_02]: So basically, I'm sorry, had a hard time right here in what she was saying, but talking about the similarities, Peyton interjected, cut her off and said, basically, Baudenix and Caleb Williams, that wasn't that similar.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_02]: It was a little different.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_02]: Bows, body of work was better, close quote, what do you make of that, Zach?
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: Luka Evans knows what he was doing here because if you read the full transcript, it's a much more layered analysis of Caleb and Beau and he basically has a lot of respect for Caleb Williams and I touched on this on KKK yesterday too.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to take anything away from Caleb who in a lot of ways Chad proved me wrong with the addition of Ben Johnson and have a bunch of weapons around him, but.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: He made some big time throws last season.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_01]: He won some big time games.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_01]: It just wasn't to the level of Bonix.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_01]: Bonix did it better.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's all.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: They both have very bright features.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: They both had great 20, 25 seasons.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_01]: But one of those quarterbacks should have led their teams to the Super Bowl.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: One of those teams should have gotten that far.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: One of those teams had come back, like the Giants game, the Texans game, the Eagles game.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: I tend to agree with what I coach is saying here.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_02]: So real quick.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_02]: He goes on after she because he interrupts her question to say that thing kind of funny and then he comes back and says by the way, I was being funny not trying to start a dust up with Ben Johnson and freaking Caleb Williams, but he goes on to say quote for both of those players because really what she was trying to get to the bottom of is how much does that.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_02]: Carrot can that carry over into 2026 right that knack and for for finding a way when the chips are down and he said quote for both those players you guys have heard me say this confidence can only be born out of demonstrated ability so I would ask everyone here if I said to you Caleb and Beau are they more confident this year?
- 55:46[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely now there's nothing that says that's promised next year.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_02]: Ben Johnson, the bear's head coach knows this.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_02]: You turn the board upside down.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_02]: You place it and you collect your pieces, whatever the game is, you have to start back at zero.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_02]: But when you start back there, you have a little bit of a bank vault that is filled with these positive experiences.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_02]: If you believe it can happen once, then so on and so forth.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_02]: So Zack, he goes on last thing to point out how I won't quote him direct.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_02]: you know a lot of these quarterbacks college games aren't close you know it's a lot of times it's big blowout margins and whatnot so a lot of quarterbacks as they come into the NFL they're not as tested in that sense right when the chips are down late they are tested in other situational things where the clutch gene can come into play like third down red zone fourth down got to have its type situations but it's a fair point
- 56:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's one thousand percent a fair point.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, when you apply the full context of the quote here a Sean Peyton to me is a 100% correct And that's what made the bonus injury shed that much more painful for all of us is the fact that nothing is guaranteed at the NFL level There is no guarantee the Broncos will be back to the AFC title game.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know a few plays away from the Super Bowl There's no guarantee they're gonna win the division again or get the number one seat again win 14 games again
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's the ultimate league of parity.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_01]: It changes every year.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's topsy-turvy.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why, they had their chance.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_01]: They had their window.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_01]: They had to just jump through it.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, it got slammed in their face.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_02]: All right, guys, we'll check the chat one last time.

- 58:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right, a couple more that, let's grab Glenn from down under, checking in from Os and there are too many good sideline to sideline players in this draft that can cover tight ends with our first three picks.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_02]: This could also be a smoke screen for the draft, this stuff about Ellis, Zack.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_02]: He says I can see Ellis playing some snaps in certain packages only at inside linebacker.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: It better be a smokescreen blend.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_01]: I really hope this is to throw the masses off his trail and they're prepared to take like Jacob Rodriguez in the second round.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_01]: That would be fantastic.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: And instead of converting Jonah Ellis, you're young up and coming edge rusher position that is more important to insideline back or kind of a devalued position, especially under advanced skills.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_01]: But thank you for your comment.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_02]: Todd Austin Dorf, dear member Zach Gundy or head, Jonah Coleman, the Washington running back or Arkansas's Mike Washington Jr.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_01]: Man, good question.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_01]: Washington, I just think he has more explosive upside.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_01]: I do like Coleman a lot.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_01]: The Brock was like Coleman, but there's something that I don't know.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_01]: Gravitates made toward Washington.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love him.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_02]: I love, I like Coleman a lot too, but especially his.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_02]: football like you character that kind of thing like I could see him being a very nice fit in Denver.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_02]: So like on one hand, the flashy shinier thing is Mike Washington, what he did at the combat.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I got to watch him with Scott for three days at the senior bull.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_02]: He's an impressive back.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_02]: But Coleman just seems like he's more what the Broncos will resonate more with the Broncos.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_02]: I guess that's putting it that way.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_01]: Either way, though, if they come away with either player, they're instantly upgrading their backfield Todd.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I would not cry at the very least.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: Now, when it comes to tight games, David says, with Dobbins back in water plan, I don't see a lot of close games like last year.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I love the optimism and the confidence my brother, but remember, the schedules get in tougher.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_02]: You're getting a first place schedule in 2026.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, a lot, I mean, we saw the Broncos thrive in
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_02]: when they were put up against some of the better teams on their scheduled last season with maybe the exception of the exceptions act of this Jacksonville game and the first Chargers game because of course they won the second one without Justin Herbert.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_02]: I guess Indy while they were still a juggernaut, you know they didn't win them all, but this year it's almost like with the exception of the Raiders and a couple others act it's almost like every opponent is a quality opponent this year.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't really like that kind of analysis because that presumed only the Broncos got better this off season.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_01]: And they did with the addition of Jalen Wattel, but sort of the chargers with Mike McDaniel, sort of the chiefs with Kenneth Walker.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a dog fight every game.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_01]: Just as we come to expect on a Sean Payton coach, Broncos team.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_02]: Glad to hear David that your pneumonia is gone.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_02]: No temperature, cough, almost gone, much love and respect, buddy.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for checking in with us tonight.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_02]: Todd last thing says, I would not be heartbroken if we got Cincinnati linebacker, Jake Golday in the second and then took Coleman in the fourth.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_02]: The fourth round would be perfect for Coleman from a value perspective, but I just have a feeling he's going to go earlier than that.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think if the Broncos want him, they're going to have to take him at 62, which is probably too early.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_02]: So it's either that Zach or park package to trade to move up somewhere in the third.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_02]: because that's probably where he'll end up going isn't the third round, my guess is.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_02]: So all right guys, a mile high salute, special shout out to the great supporter, super chat, super stars, deer members, helping us keep the lights on tonight.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_02]: Pardon me, like Papa Bear, David McElrath, Chris Hernandez, OG, Tucson Phil, and Cody Dubb, and all the great great members in the chat, you know who you are.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_02]: We love you, we appreciate you.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_02]: And looking forward to seeing you tomorrow's Thursday.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_02]: So we're back as Zach and I tomorrow.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_01]: Have a great rest of your Wednesday.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_01]: We will see you tomorrow night.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_00]: Take care and as always, go Broncos.
