1:13
[SPEAKER_02]: You've got a guy for printing, a guy for cigars, a guy for what was it custom pool flamingos?
1:18
[SPEAKER_03]: Don't knock the flamingos.
1:20
[SPEAKER_03]: But when it comes to remodeling your home, my guy is Alvaro Fratis and his crew at Passabella Design Group.
1:28
[SPEAKER_03]: Ah, yes, your favorite contractor, right?
1:30
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, he is my favorite contractor and he'll be yours as well, which is one call.

[SPEAKER_03]: He might even give you a deal, or at least a hug.
2:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I have some ball of design group, proud partner of the Fish Tank.
2:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's build something beautiful together.
2:28
[SPEAKER_01]: You're now diving into the fish tank.
2:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna finish this time.
2:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, from back to the first tank presented by Van Horton Law Group and Cassabella's Angry Seth Levitt and the toughest podcaster.
3:01
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what?
3:01
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna change up the toughest post-game show host.
3:05
[SPEAKER_03]: To have her work, we're Travis Wingfield and Seth Levitt.
3:07
[SPEAKER_03]: He is Oh Jamey Duffy.
3:09
[SPEAKER_03]: And the guys are all back together again.
3:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Juice, this is like starting to feel familiar here.
3:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the gang's back, man.
3:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm telling you what, man.
3:16
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you know, we, except we remembered like, you know, young Travis Winkfield, you know, the fresh from, you know, the Pacific West Coast, you know what I mean?
3:28
[SPEAKER_02]: And now, look how our little buddy, I'm sorry.
3:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't mean it like that.
3:32
[SPEAKER_02]: But look how much he's grown bro.
3:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Now we got him.
3:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Now we got him diving in a little bit here.
3:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I love it, brother.
3:37
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so funny that like, sorry to introduce myself off the top right here, but like, it's so funny because I like, whatever we would have the discussion about age and I would like start saying something you guys like, oh, here we go again.
3:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, let me say what happened here.
3:50
[SPEAKER_00]: I do the exact same thing to the people that are ten years younger than me in the content room.
3:55
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the exact same conversation like, okay.
3:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Now I get it.
3:58
[SPEAKER_03]: We call it right a passage.
4:00
[SPEAKER_03]: So you know, next thing you know, uh, Bow and Joe are going to have y'all now to pastor.
4:05
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, uh, two good.
4:10
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, Travis Wingfield dies into the fish tank and, uh, you know, it's phase four Travis.
4:16
[SPEAKER_03]: So this is your second fish tank appearance.
4:18
[SPEAKER_03]: It's your first phase four appearance.
4:20
[SPEAKER_03]: Hopefully not your last
4:23
[SPEAKER_03]: And we're excited to talk about what's going on in camp.
4:25
[SPEAKER_03]: It's one of the fun things that we've added to the mix here.
4:28
[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, we just kind of want to know what's going on and who better to ask the new.
4:32
[SPEAKER_03]: We did have KFC, we had Kyle Krabs on earlier, so we want to talk to you about all that.
4:37
[SPEAKER_03]: But before we get into anything specifically related to training camp, you're in Chicago.
4:44
[SPEAKER_03]: And all this does is bring back memories of the great hashtag free wing field moment from when was that twenty twenty one when you were when you were in Chicago I want to I have this memory of like the first time we ever did a post game show together none of us were together and you were in that same hotel room in Chicago and I'm in the studio going this is pretty hard to do when we're all stepping all over each other so
5:09
[SPEAKER_03]: Like, do you have to, you said you had a police escort?
5:11
[SPEAKER_03]: Was that specifically for you?
5:13
[SPEAKER_03]: Because the bears PR staff is not wanting to let you in the place?
5:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they knew how important the fish tank appearance was.
5:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll get him back to the hotel quickly, so you don't have to do the podcast, right?
5:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that what it was?
5:24
[SPEAKER_00]: That had to be what it was, but yeah, I mean, the free wing field thing came across my, my timeline again today.
5:29
[SPEAKER_00]: And that was like,
5:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of like the mama we made it moment in a big like in a way because the way it got trending on Twitter that day and with everyone being like I'm in their fire and off tweets if I wasn't supposed to at the indoor field house because there was like a lightning strike they moved both teams, a hundred and eighty players into a one field indoor facility
5:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just chaos dance, like play going left and right.
5:52
[SPEAKER_00]: You guys know how I'm at training camp.
5:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just like that scene in Bruce Almighty when Jim carries typing all the emails out because he's trying to reply to everyone's prayer.
5:59
[SPEAKER_00]: That's me trying to get dolphins notes out.
6:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Hit send tweet hit send tweet and there and then I think it was Vera's like, Travis, you can't tweet right now.
6:05
[SPEAKER_00]: We're on a non tweeting period.
6:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, oh, shit.
6:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I go in and delete them all.
6:09
[SPEAKER_00]: And then I don't tweet the rest of the day because I'm like, I don't know the rules.
6:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what I'm going to do.
6:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to wait for the podcast tonight.
6:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And everyone's like, where the hell are wingfields updates from camp.
6:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's when the hashtag free wingfield got coming out.
6:19
[SPEAKER_00]: And there was people put my face on on like people being taken off with handcuffs behind the back and like so very wingfield from Alice Hall.
6:27
[SPEAKER_00]: He's he's locked up on a jail somewhere.
6:29
[SPEAKER_02]: So, Travis, I want to go back to this.
6:31
[SPEAKER_02]: That's, that's amazing.
6:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I want to go back to the police escort real quick.
6:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Big sad because, Travis, how many of those have you been in before?
6:38
[SPEAKER_00]: That was the first one.
6:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Man, are they amazing to what bro?
6:40
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, it's really cool.
6:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to say what you're going.
6:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Just seeing cars like pull over and it's like that's for us.
6:47
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no emergency here.
6:48
[SPEAKER_00]: That's just us.
6:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's how you have to do it.
6:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Because there's a lot of, I mean, you know how it goes.
6:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's so many buses and so many people they have to get around and
6:54
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a long drive from where we are to where the the practices to be in hell.
6:58
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's yeah, it's a cool experience.
7:00
[SPEAKER_00]: First one and it made that drive a lot shorter.
7:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I can tell you that much man.
7:03
[SPEAKER_02]: That was always one of things.
7:05
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you talk about things that guys like myself miss the police escort on the road is one of those things, man.
7:09
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like so much fun.
7:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Like going into England where we got to go on the opposite side of the road because it's too congested on, you know, because it's so hard to get in there.
7:17
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, those.
7:18
[SPEAKER_01]: What about Andy?
7:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Indie with the guy the police officer on the motorcycle.
7:23
[SPEAKER_02]: He stands up on it rides with no hands.
7:26
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
7:27
[SPEAKER_02]: He's like driving.
7:28
[SPEAKER_02]: He's unbelievable.
7:29
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like put on a show man.
7:32
[SPEAKER_02]: So those things are absolutely incredible man.
7:35
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm glad you got a chance to experience that man because you know talk about things that guys like myself miss.
7:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I forgot that's one of them right there, Travis.
7:43
[SPEAKER_03]: It's, it's the best way to get to the stadium.
7:45
[SPEAKER_03]: That's for sure when you have to head over there now.
7:46
[SPEAKER_03]: And I know you got that good parking pass, Jews, but it's still not the same as the police escort.
7:50
[SPEAKER_03]: My favorite police escort of all time, though, was in in ninety seven Mexico City.
7:57
[SPEAKER_03]: Do you remember those dudes on the motorcycles?
7:59
[SPEAKER_03]: They were like waving the pistolas around, you know, like they were getting people out of the way.
8:04
[SPEAKER_03]: It was next level stuff.
8:06
[SPEAKER_03]: So, well, we can't wait to see what training can.
8:09
[SPEAKER_03]: What this practice is joint practice brings here for Travis Winfield because it sounds like it's always an adventure.
8:15
[SPEAKER_03]: I think isn't this also miss the bus gate you and JT and a lift trying to get to the game.
8:20
[SPEAKER_03]: Isn't that also Chicago?
8:21
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I guess it is.
8:23
[SPEAKER_00]: I also also almost lost my credential after that too, so that's a whole other story.
8:27
[SPEAKER_00]: on top of the JT story, but real quickly, I believe it was Joe Rose as he is, you know, want to do it to go, oh, we're good, get out of here, go everyone's on the bus right now and the only people that weren't there.
8:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is how I know for a fact that Joe Rose was wrong and me and JT were right, I'm not late to stuff.
8:43
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't, I'm making a point to show up on time.
8:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I said I'm going to be somewhere.
8:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Now I was late to this recording, but that's because we got stuck in traffic and I had no, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the, what the,
9:00
[SPEAKER_02]: You're right.
9:00
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what time zone or whatever it is, but we're recording a damn thing now.
9:04
[SPEAKER_03]: You did just drop a drive time episode, ten minutes before we recorded.
9:08
[SPEAKER_03]: So I couldn't even listen to it to get caught up on everything.
9:11
[SPEAKER_03]: But that's what this, that's what our purpose is here now.
9:14
[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm just gonna jump in, you know, we're trying to think there's so many different things to ask about.
9:18
[SPEAKER_03]: There's been a lot, there's, I guess there are some camp battles, there's some questions.
9:23
[SPEAKER_03]: There are things that have dolphins, Twitter, in like an uproar, and maybe I'll start with that.
9:29
[SPEAKER_03]: Do we need to be concerned about the corner back position?
9:33
[SPEAKER_03]: Talk to us about the corner back position.
9:34
[SPEAKER_03]: I know you are very fired up.
9:36
[SPEAKER_03]: Jack Jones, I think, is like, maybe your cater co-hoo for me, right?
9:40
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, so you're fired up about him, but tell us why we should not be pushing the panic button when it comes to the corner back position.
9:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, with Jack Jones, you guys can attest to the fact that I was sending you clips of him back in the summertime saying, like, we need this guy in the football team because of his physical skill set.
9:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, there's a reason he was available.
9:59
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's kind of copped to that and talking about how this is an opportunity.
10:02
[SPEAKER_00]: He can't let slip through his hands.
10:04
[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, I've seen that on the practice field with him, you know, busting his butt on special teams and splitting the guys trying to jam the gun, the gunner and getting down there being the first one to the football.
10:13
[SPEAKER_00]: and being so competitive in one-on-one juice, you would hate going against this guy.
10:17
[SPEAKER_00]: You would match it, I think, but you would hate what he's bringing to the one-on-one.
10:19
[SPEAKER_00]: You probably would be like, hey, chill, young buck.
10:21
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a little too much for me.
10:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's one-on-one buzz.
10:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, we're too long.
10:26
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little early for that.
10:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's wait until September.
10:28
[SPEAKER_00]: But he's been competitive in feisty and he finds the football on those clips.
10:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I showed you guys a couple months back.
10:33
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that when they signed him, I thought,
10:37
[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be one of the guys alongside Caterco who is going to play for him.
10:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Then about fifteen minutes later Mike Hilton signing becomes announced.
10:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, that's probably the slot quarterback right there with Caterplank so well on the outside last year.
10:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And then a few minutes and a practice Cater goes down and that whole equation gets flipped up on on on top of its head once again.
10:55
[SPEAKER_00]: And so now the dolphins are kind of back in this position of like, who's going to step up?
10:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Who's going to be the young guy that that rises to the challenge and puts himself in that position?
11:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And so far, that's been stormed duck.
11:04
[SPEAKER_00]: And I love what Toronto Armstrong said about stormed duck.
11:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I know that's this another Seth Levitt favorite there for sure.
11:10
[SPEAKER_00]: But the way he competes and the way I think this defense wants to play and on the podcast that just drops that I kind of talked about this with Coach Weave and I asked him a question about
11:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And how much does Mink of Fitzpatrick's background covering receivers and playing in the slot, as well as if you melafile moving a college corner back, how much does that kind of impact the way you can call your defense and protect the corner back room a little bit, just with what you have at safety.
11:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And of course the front seven all the pressure they can provide.
11:36
[SPEAKER_00]: And he made it a point to talk about the guys that can bring down a matchup.
11:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And he made it a point to talk about Ashton Davis, who of course has been injured since then.
11:43
[SPEAKER_00]: was injured prior to that as well, but he'll be back at some point.
11:46
[SPEAKER_00]: So they have all these safeties and come on the field and play three levels and play up and coverage.
11:50
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think about the way the middle linebackers can get depth with Jordan Brooks and Willie Gain what they've done all camp long.
11:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the past rush up front.
11:57
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the question about the quarterback position in particular is fair.
12:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the individuals on paper are incredibly unproven.
12:05
[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to let it play out and see what happens.
12:07
[SPEAKER_00]: And I know for a fact that dolphins will not sit there.
12:10
[SPEAKER_00]: and go into a season unhappy with what they have there.
12:12
[SPEAKER_00]: So if the guys rise to the challenge and they earn a role, they're going to be the guys out there.
12:16
[SPEAKER_00]: If not, they're going to explore the market.
12:18
[SPEAKER_00]: That's just how this team works.
12:19
[SPEAKER_00]: They're always turning over, you know, still trying to find out what's out there.
12:22
[SPEAKER_00]: But in general, if that question is the biggest question on the team, I think the rest of the defense is really going to find a way to compensate for that.
12:30
[SPEAKER_00]: And the best coaches, the best teams in the world,
12:32
[SPEAKER_00]: When a guy's down with an injury, you know, they can scheme around that for a couple of games.
12:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I think this defense is built to scheme around what they have at the corner back position as it stands with the unproven nature and there's still a chance they could find guys in that area that become proven.
12:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Travis, let's talk a little bit more about that defense.
12:48
[SPEAKER_02]: You talked about
12:49
[SPEAKER_02]: some of the guys that we have talked about the front seven initially when you're talking there about what they can do and the pressure having the guys back like children having you know fills back and having chopped back in the second year um you know you that that's got to be key for protecting I think right a secondary that
13:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they're not bad, but just not as what people thought they would be at some point.
13:10
[SPEAKER_02]: So talk about that front seven a little bit, the line-back position though, I can solid as hell, which I like, you know, guys that are coming back from the line-back position.
13:19
[SPEAKER_02]: And then talk about a couple of the other guys on the outside, like a storm duck, like you talked about, or even even Barnard, talk a little bit more about that defense force.
13:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I thought that one of the calling cards of the defense, or the Dolphins' entire football team last year, guys, they were fourth on total defense and Seth, you mentioned the point about how I've talked about in the podcast a few times.
13:37
[SPEAKER_00]: How many critical guys were they down last year?
13:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, without Philips and Chub alone, they, I mean, a manual agba was a guy that wasn't on the roster and he came in and did a great job for what he was asked to do and brought back in and went and got a good contract from the Jaguars.
13:50
[SPEAKER_00]: based upon that performance, but that wasn't the expectation.
13:53
[SPEAKER_00]: And so without those guys, they're they're pulling sealer out wide and Kaleas Campbell out wide to play edge and they're super thin because of that on the interior.
14:01
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're finding a way to play a good defense.
14:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, that was a result of weavers ability to create different pressures with the way they set their looks up, but also playing sound zone coverage on the backside where it's really well taught to the rules.
14:14
[SPEAKER_00]: in terms of how you pass off and how you communicate.
14:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think a second year of that is only gonna get better.
14:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the vision that he has for the defense has been even more rounded out with that safety group we talked about.
14:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And then when they do get in those third-long situations, because now you do have Chub and Phillips back, who are good past wrestlers by the way, but their run defense is elite.
14:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Both of those guys are elite run defenders who are tough to move off the edge.
14:36
[SPEAKER_00]: And when you can do that, when you have Zach and Big Kenny G inside, and you've got Jordan Brooks filling inside as well,
14:42
[SPEAKER_00]: good luck running the football consistently on this team and so I think they're gonna be in a lot of those third-long situations and then you can get to those pressures and you can play that physical man coverage because that storm ducks game that's Jack Jones is game to a certain extent that's what Mike Hilton likes to do you mention Ethan Bonner he's he's feisty man he wants to go out there and challenge you and get in your face and and make sure you win the rep you know by earning it so I think the the mentality of the defense and the way they can mix the zone and man looks with that pressure up front and all they can do with the different games
15:09
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, McDaniel had a comment to the day in a press conference where he talked about one of the things that attracted him most to the to the weaver's defense was how they can make it complex for the offense, but it's not complex for them because the the Furbyage and the language is simple for them to digest, but it allows them to be so flexible and the things they do that it is confusing for the protection scheme.
15:28
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think you're going to see a defense that does a good job confusing quarterbacks and then the defensive backfields ability to kind of mix their man and zone coverage is is going to play off of that and I think
15:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I think produced a pretty good defense this year.
15:41
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, big set, you know, Kenny G, you know, you know, when I think of Kenny G, you know, I think about man.
15:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
15:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he was outstanding.
15:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Travis, probably doesn't know much about that because he was, you know, he's, he's, as we talk about a time.
15:54
[SPEAKER_02]: He's a young in the game.
15:55
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, it'll give you a great job.
15:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Travis.
15:58
[SPEAKER_00]: There was a South Park episode.
15:59
[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about South Park recently.
16:01
[SPEAKER_00]: They, they, they parodyed Kenny G. So I'm familiar with Kenny.
16:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's got a nice guy.
16:06
[SPEAKER_03]: to funny to funny you know you mentioned Jordan Brooks and Zach Seeler and was it today that Jordan Brooks was asked about him and he basically says Zach Seeler is the face of what the dolphins are trying to build or what they're trying to accomplish I think was the word that he used and and I
16:23
[SPEAKER_03]: assume that that, you know, I didn't hear the whole context.
16:26
[SPEAKER_03]: I just saw kind of that quote and I don't know if you were there when Jordan spoke and said those things.
16:32
[SPEAKER_03]: But there's been a lot of talk about culture, right?
16:34
[SPEAKER_03]: There's all season to the point where people are tired of hearing about the word culture.
16:38
[SPEAKER_03]: But you know, you think about everything that Zach Sealer kind of stands for small school, seventh round draft pick, practice squad cut, all of those things to to becoming the player and the leader that he is.
16:51
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, what do you think that means for, to hear a guy like Jordan Brooks connect was Axel or not regard, and they've only played together for a year now.
17:00
[SPEAKER_03]: And Jordan's a leader in it himself, but to hear those things, what do you think that means to him for the younger guys to hear that?
17:07
[SPEAKER_03]: And just maybe kind of building upon that.
17:09
[SPEAKER_03]: There's been a lot of talk this all season about what would happen was ex-sealer.
17:13
[SPEAKER_03]: The business stuff is behind him now and to his credit football never stopped, but now it's all he needs to focus on.
17:20
[SPEAKER_03]: What does that mean for him and then by extension the entire defense?
17:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, when they, when they announced the extension for sealer, I tweeted that he's a perfect player.
17:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And by that, I meant everything he does in the field, the availability, the toughness, the leadership, the way he handled that press conference, I know the consignal area here had to have loved that press conference is actually there when he was not signed yet and just said every single thing you want to hear from your leader.
17:42
[SPEAKER_00]: and a captain vocal team.
17:44
[SPEAKER_00]: And then for Jordan Brooks, you know, you mentioned the comment that he said, and to me, that was revealing.
17:49
[SPEAKER_00]: But I also thought he had a little nugget in there that was even more revealing talking about like the, how egoless Zack sealer is.
17:56
[SPEAKER_00]: You talk about not having ego.
17:57
[SPEAKER_00]: That's, that's Jordan Brooks's game to a team, his personality to a team.
18:00
[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, we talked, we've heard people reference the ego with, you know, last year's team a little bit.
18:05
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it was Bradley Chob talking about the camaraderie not get, or maybe it was to Ron Ars said not talking about not getting there last year.
18:11
[SPEAKER_00]: where it was in twenty two and twenty three.
18:12
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think when you start rewarding these guys that do it that right way, it can kind of permeate throughout your football team and send the right message about how you go about banks and how you get rewarded.
18:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is what is going to make us better as a team, not just you as the individual.
18:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I think the world of Jordan Brooks and Zach Sealer is player as players.
18:29
[SPEAKER_00]: But man, the way they've helped bring guys along with them.
18:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Like we had a mic dealt with Jordan the other day and he talked about it just showed him like going through the individual portion of practice and stretch and he was talking about like,
18:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I know it was a tough day or stay and it's a tough one right after grind our way through, but make sure you want top of all these important details and Patrick Paul's a guy that has gone out there and just like consistently repped the same things over and over because that's the pattern.
18:53
[SPEAKER_00]: You just keep repping and repping until it's second nature and that's like just been the mode of this football team.
18:58
[SPEAKER_00]: We talk about Kenny G and Jonas of I. E and I are racing to the building to see who can get their first.
19:03
[SPEAKER_00]: uh, Jonah and Patrick Paul, like working out every single day together, trying to build that chemistry.
19:08
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, McDaniel talked about this back in March with the desire to build the culture of the team through the draft and basically just getting more youthful because those guys aren't naturally hungry, right?
19:19
[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't had the accolades and the big contracts and they're ready to prove themselves.
19:23
[SPEAKER_00]: And you build that around a quarterback who's really kind of found his footing as the ultimate leader and the CEO of the football team.
19:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing wasn't there before, but like this year, you can really see it as playing his day and you start surrounding him with young guys that have that same passion and drive and hunger.
19:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And all of a sudden, you're going to get everyone pull in the rope in the same direction where it's last year.
19:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Probably wasn't that way for most of the year, especially with the injury to to a coming in and out and quarterback play being up and down.
19:48
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think this year, they've, they've really focused on the, on the right types of things in terms of who they go out and they get and who they go out and extend and who they, you know, they put leadership positions.
19:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's kind of what Jordan Brooks was talking about.
19:59
[SPEAKER_00]: There was Axie Learn and the effect that can have on the rest of the team, you know, from a production standpoint, but also just how guys are in the locker.
20:06
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
20:07
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's what I heard for sure.
20:10
[SPEAKER_03]: But then when I hear you talk about this team, there's, there's a lot to be excited about.
20:15
[SPEAKER_03]: If I just listen to Travis Wingfield and it is kind of a lot of what I just listened to.
20:19
[SPEAKER_03]: But if I just listen to Travis Winfield and drive time and I'm here in this, I'm like, wow, this football team's ready to roll.
20:26
[SPEAKER_03]: And then I open up the USA today and they predict them to go the dolphins to go five and twelve.
20:31
[SPEAKER_03]: So there seems to be these very strong polarizing opinions as it relates to this football team.
20:40
[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think is leading to, you know, is it that you're just watching more than other people are seeing from the outside or are there things that people are legitimately and fairly concerned about that could have things go wrong and hurt?
20:56
[SPEAKER_00]: But I would cop originally to the fact that I do tend to see things for an optimistic lens.
21:01
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no doubt about that.
21:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why you watch sports if you're going to do it otherwise.
21:05
[SPEAKER_00]: I see people on Twitter, they're just miserable.
21:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go find something else to do, man.
21:09
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not for you.
21:09
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just making you mad all the time.
21:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Go find enjoyment in your life.
21:13
[SPEAKER_00]: But I digress on that, right?
21:16
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's also always how I've covered the team, too.
21:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I remember the twenty nineteen season.
21:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, guys, I'm not going to sit here and talk about a player that's getting
21:23
[SPEAKER_00]: run over because he's not going to be here in the long term and that's not worth bogging down over.
21:26
[SPEAKER_00]: So like trying to find what it looks like in terms of what they want the team to be and how they want to build it.
21:32
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the disconnect comes from like, you know, Tyrex comments after the jet's game was was tough, right?
21:37
[SPEAKER_00]: We went through that on the post game show and tried to sort what all that meant out and how was going to play out for the future of the franchise.
21:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think people probably hang on to that a little bit and be like, Oh, it's broken.
21:46
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no way it's going to work.
21:48
[SPEAKER_00]: McDaniel has this reputation as a guy that's like quirky, but not a great leader in all these things.
21:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're probably going to just assume that that's what's going to be going forward.
21:54
[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, they go out and they sign Darren Waller and I see or trade for Darren Waller and I see these comments about like, oh, this team isn't serious about getting a physical.
22:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, what the hell is he's in rewatching?
22:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Because every move they made was everything you've talked negatively about this team for the last three years in terms of they can't push people off the football in December and cold weather.
22:14
[SPEAKER_00]: They can't run the ball well enough.
22:15
[SPEAKER_00]: They're not tough enough.
22:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they haven't invested a free agent contract in a player like James Daniels on the interior ever in this in this regime.
22:23
[SPEAKER_00]: They traded a third round draft pick to use their second round pick and both day two picks to go up and get Jonas of I. E. Naya.
22:28
[SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't happen in this system very often either.
22:31
[SPEAKER_00]: They, you know, Patrick Paul looks the part.
22:33
[SPEAKER_00]: They go out and they get a bad ass.
22:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Why tied in and Pharaoh Brown to move guys off the football.
22:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Westbrook, a Q&A is the antithesis of, oh, no, Beckham in terms of their skill sets and how it works.
22:44
[SPEAKER_03]: I was impressed with the word, but I was more impressed.
22:47
[SPEAKER_03]: He's talking about OBJ because when he was sending me clips of his Baltimore tape there, I was sick to my stomach.
22:53
[SPEAKER_00]: the tape was good the result was not we'll go ahead and put it that way and sometimes you miss and so I'll never have to start but it's a different type of player it's a guy that can insert and it's not just like go kick out you know the quarter or go you know fit the safety twenty yards down field like they would insert Westbrook
23:10
[SPEAKER_00]: on in the B gap and runs last year.
23:12
[SPEAKER_00]: So, and then they go out and they use their first two picks on interior defense offense of Lyman.
23:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Like they have four to five the trenches.
23:18
[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to get back to running the football at a much better rate than they did last year.
23:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think that with that all together and I don't know like perhaps I've reached this point with Tua where it's like I just know what he is now.
23:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I know he's a really good quarterback and there are certain things he's still has to prove.
23:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a lot of folks that aren't there in that regard, but he's thirty eight and twenty four is a starter and he's done that with various coaches and OCs and receivers and it's been, you know, it's gotten better for him in terms of this round and cash the last couple of years, but he won before that as well.
23:47
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that when two was in there and if they have this run game and I believe in this defense with the first time having the same coordinator in a guy that I think very highly of an anti-weaver
23:57
[SPEAKER_00]: for the first time since, you know, Josh Boyer was here.
23:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that they're built to be the same explosive attack they've been in the past, but they also have fixed some of the shortcomings that cost them in short yardage in the red zone at the end of games and bad weather down the stretch against the tougher teams.
24:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that they're gonna continue beating up on the teams that are worse in them.
24:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they have a better chance to compete against the good teams.
24:19
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I don't think anything's changed based on expectations in the last few years.
24:23
[SPEAKER_00]: That's just how I see it.
24:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Travis, you're not wrong, man.
24:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I get tired.
24:27
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, if they call you a homer, I'm probably a bigger homer when it comes to the situation, but I see the team the same way.
24:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I see this team the same way you do.
24:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I see that we've we've changed.
24:41
[SPEAKER_02]: We've we've addressed some of the things that, you know, that we need to address in terms of this team and its football team.
24:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Look, what quarterback has gotten it done all by himself?
24:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Zero.
24:52
[SPEAKER_02]: There have been zero quarterbacks that have gotten it done all by themselves.
24:55
[SPEAKER_02]: What aren't having to help from players that you go and you fix these holes, you start putting, you know, puts, you know, and fixing what's been wrong.
25:03
[SPEAKER_02]: You look at, you talk about our physicality.
25:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Now we're a physical team, I think.
25:06
[SPEAKER_02]: We're much more physical team.
25:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, the only thing is, do we commit to third and one running, you know, a Madison, do we run an Audi Gordon, you know, do we listen to Tyre Reak and say that, you know, the ATAN is not the guy to be in there on third and short.
25:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, sometimes I listen to Tyre Reak sometimes I know.
25:23
[SPEAKER_03]: Might be the only time.
25:24
[SPEAKER_02]: That might be the only time I listen to what he's got to talk about.
25:28
[SPEAKER_02]: But also, you know, you got a difference, I think that's going to be superficial.
25:33
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and I think that's important because you're going to get hit in the mouth.
25:36
[SPEAKER_02]: All we will need hit back.
25:37
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think this is a team that's been built to hit back.
25:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Hit people back in the mouth, man, because
25:43
[SPEAKER_02]: No matter what it is, defense, run game, those things that we talked about as a cliche, they travel, especially in weather.
25:49
[SPEAKER_02]: But we've got the guys we're talking about right here on this roster.
25:53
[SPEAKER_02]: I think we've got the build that we want to have as long as we're committed to being physical and both sides of the ball.
26:00
[SPEAKER_02]: And I know we've got them held.
26:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Minkie just came from Pittsburgh.
26:02
[SPEAKER_02]: He played an inclement weather a lot.
26:04
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure.
26:05
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
26:05
[SPEAKER_02]: I grew up in that area.
26:07
[SPEAKER_02]: So we got guys at, are down here that should be able to go out there and play physical style of football because that's what it's all about.
26:15
[SPEAKER_02]: So everything can not, I'm getting back to my point.
26:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Everything can not be on two as shoulders to make us be a successful team.
26:22
[SPEAKER_02]: We had the greatest quarterback in the game, Dammarino, but we couldn't have a defense at one point.
26:26
[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't have a run game at one point.
26:28
[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't have this at one point.
26:29
[SPEAKER_02]: And we didn't win anything.
26:31
[SPEAKER_02]: So anybody that thinks that you can just get it done, you know, if you're quarterback plays elite.
26:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Hell, I think I hate to mention his name and his podcast with Josh Allen plays the lead football, but what have they done?
26:43
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Lamar Jackson plays the lead football, but what have they done?
26:47
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just part of the game, man.
26:49
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think putting the right pieces parts around, I think it helps us out a lot.
26:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's going to be the key, doesn't mean it's successful football team.
26:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And to your point, you, sorry, if you had something to come in with here, Seth.
26:58
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I got one.
26:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm done.
26:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to follow it all.
27:00
[SPEAKER_00]: I had to say right there.
27:04
[SPEAKER_00]: You mentioned Josh Allen, like if I would, I would really advise Dolphins fans to go back and watch that game in Buffalo last year, because that was when Austin got hurt in the last play of that game.
27:14
[SPEAKER_00]: they will lose in gold later on in the offensive line kind of became a patchwork you know mixing guys up in and out of line up but they ran the ball so damn well in that game and one or two would do in that game he was twenty five or twenty eight one of those passes was a spike one of those was a drop pass so he really had one true in completion on twenty eight throws when two against a running game
27:32
[SPEAKER_00]: twenty twenty three happens and he leaves the league in passing yards and he's efficient and he's got twenty nine touchdown passes and he's he's getting twenty five touchdowns volt from him from the running backs down there so like I think if this team can get back to run in the football and I think the personnel changes are there in part of that but I would go a step further because that's what we see on paper and this is a coaching point that Seth left has given me about my own evaluations of football is it's more than the tape and more than what you see
27:55
[SPEAKER_00]: on the tape.
27:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And when I'm watching these practices, I think there's more intentionality.
28:00
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're more physical.
28:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's there's more reps being done.
28:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're putting themselves in hardest situations to kind of get themselves ready and tough for the season.
28:08
[SPEAKER_00]: So I went when McDaniel went into this offseason.
28:11
[SPEAKER_00]: There was questions about what his future was in terms of who he was going to be as a head coach.
28:15
[SPEAKER_00]: And from what I've seen, and it's August, it's way too early to make any proclamations.
28:19
[SPEAKER_00]: But all I can do is talk about what I've seen up until today.
28:21
[SPEAKER_00]: When I've seen up until today is a hungry coach who has a sense of urgency and has adjusted the way he does things to attack the weaknesses or perceived weaknesses in his football team.
28:32
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that this is a smart dude that is obviously an offensive mastermind, but I think that he's so smart in the way he's kind of learned his
28:40
[SPEAKER_00]: ability to manage people and kind of, you know, be a manager.
28:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Then I'm excited to see what he can do because we've seen so many coaches in this league, you know, start strong, fizzle out and get a second chance somewhere else and be great there.
28:51
[SPEAKER_00]: And I kind of want to see if he can, you know, learn from his mistakes and and just continue to grow and become a really good head coach like we thought he was right away.
28:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's within his, his window of capabilities.
29:01
[SPEAKER_03]: I've got to be more than just kind of right.
29:02
[SPEAKER_03]: I think you really want to see that.
29:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Of course I do it he was like I was second you guys about you know as a possible OC candidate back in like twenty twenty right yeah I just I think what I seen from him is I think a real sense of urgency and I think it shows in press conferences in the way he he talks in press conferences too so I'm really excited to see what that looks like I think there's an attentionality there and we'll find out the results you know comes up timber
29:25
[SPEAKER_03]: I will say this as you talk about, you know, physical practices and what have you.
29:30
[SPEAKER_03]: And I made the joke about Bo and Joe earlier, but I watched something that they recorded after yesterday's practice and they were surprised to see guys and pets, you know, in that practice there.
29:41
[SPEAKER_03]: So I thought that
29:43
[SPEAKER_03]: When you have those guys, they're out of your hand and they were surprised.
29:50
[SPEAKER_03]: I think that certainly is a big change from maybe the perspective they had the previous year.
29:56
[SPEAKER_03]: So I do hope it translates to something on the field that we felt would be lacking.
30:00
[SPEAKER_03]: But speaking of the quarterbacks,
30:03
[SPEAKER_03]: And you know, you said you know in your heart of hearts who to is.
30:08
[SPEAKER_03]: And there is criticism and some may or may not be fair, but I think one of the concerns I won't call it criticism, but one of the concerns that absolutely is fair is availability, right?
30:18
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he needs to be available.
30:20
[SPEAKER_03]: I think for this team to be successful with that.
30:25
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I'd love to talk about the two guys that are on the roster that are behind him.
30:30
[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, you've got Zach Wilson who was rated very, very highly coming out of college and, you know, went to the Jets and we love that he didn't work out for the Jets for a lot of different reasons.
30:42
[SPEAKER_03]: But so Zach Wilson's here, and then you've got another, here we go.
30:44
[SPEAKER_03]: Here we go again.
30:45
[SPEAKER_03]: We got a seventh round rookie quarterback.
30:49
[SPEAKER_03]: But apparently Mighty Quinn has been looking pretty good and camp lately.
30:52
[SPEAKER_03]: What have you seen?
30:53
[SPEAKER_03]: What a long ass way to get to this question.
30:55
[SPEAKER_03]: What have you seen from the bathroom on that one big set?
31:00
[SPEAKER_03]: It's a lot to get up and leave.
31:02
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, go ahead.
31:02
[SPEAKER_03]: Just I got it from here.
31:04
[SPEAKER_03]: What, what have you seen from the two back up quarterbacks?
31:08
[SPEAKER_03]: And I know people are calling it a battle.
31:09
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't see a world.
31:10
[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like Zachos would have to be completely awful or injured to not start the season as the number two quarterback.
31:17
[SPEAKER_03]: But what have you seen from these two guys?
31:19
[SPEAKER_03]: And do you think it's another situation where we're going to have three quarterbacks on the fifty three come week one?
31:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, longest question, asker, longest answer here.
31:28
[SPEAKER_03]: So as you just go ahead and go get a drink, I'll be the same answer than a long question.
31:32
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you're editing a shit out of this.
31:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you'll do a great job with that as he slams him out and do back.
31:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I still owe you, I think six of those by the way.
31:41
[SPEAKER_00]: So those are coming up here pretty soon, my friend.
31:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, buddy.
31:45
[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, with the quarterback, you mentioned, you know, Skylar was a previous guy that was in that seventh round developmental prospect.
31:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of feel like, and this is just thinking out loud, I kind of feel like him getting thrust into the situation that he was that rookie season was the worst and it could have happened to him because he came from an offense, and I made this point several times where they were holding up, you know, cue cards that had like SpongeBob, pop tarts, and Nevada on it, as his play calls.
32:07
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you get here and, you know, it's like, twenty-five words that you have to round it off and get all these protections and
32:13
[SPEAKER_00]: and shifts in adjustments and route concepts and all the things that you have to do for an NFL offense to operate.
32:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And with Quinn Eures, he comes from an offense that's very similar to what the Dolphins run from Steve Starkesian.
32:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And that was kind of one of the big sticking points for, you know, McDaniel and co signing off on him in the seventh round.
32:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Eures' Texas tape, there was games where he saw it and ripped it and played really damn good football.
32:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And there was games where it looked like it was way too much for him.
32:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I was kind of dubious on him as a prospect because I didn't know
32:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Who the real Quinn viewers was in terms of what he looked like against those certain looks and this is kind of a grain of salt because he is going up against you know typically the threes and fours every single day, but it doesn't look like it's too much for him.
32:52
[SPEAKER_00]: He's playing really well on time and in rhythm and you guys know that's my favorite trait from a quarterback.
32:56
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's why two was sealing continues to progress from here because I think the league is
33:00
[SPEAKER_00]: going more towards this, you know, too high defense, you have to play well with a constricted box, and that's where two of shines the most.
33:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
33:07
[SPEAKER_00]: But for Quinn viewers, there's he's had some moments against this defense, which again, it's another thing that I think the old iron sharpens iron thing plays in here is
33:15
[SPEAKER_00]: They have all these pressures and things they can do to kind of make things look muddy on you and it's good for these quarterbacks.
33:21
[SPEAKER_00]: But what I want to see is how they do in a joint practice situation tomorrow or Friday whenever this podcast comes out or how they do in a preseason game against the bears against the jacks against the lions because then we're going to get these non-scripted looks where it's not like okay well maybe they knew what they were doing that maybe they knew was
33:36
[SPEAKER_00]: The good look for this particular play or a look that was tough, they're going to try to run anyways.
33:40
[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be more of a game situation that gives us a better feel for how they are processing all the color that flashes on an NFL snap.
33:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And was Zach Wilson, again, no mystery that I thought the jet state was was a tough watch, right?
33:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Like we talked about it.
33:54
[SPEAKER_00]: We hate watching together.
33:55
[SPEAKER_00]: We enjoyed it.
33:56
[SPEAKER_00]: But then he goes to Denver and Sean Peyton has all these great things to say about him.
34:00
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, well, Sean Peyton knows what the hell he's doing.
34:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And I never felt that Zach had quality coaching with the jets.
34:06
[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought that some of the stuff that made him this, you know, number two prospect in the draft was only played at the college level where he would kind of, you know, sprint backwards away from the play and run around and make these great throws and he's got all the physical skills in the world, but you can't do that in the NFL.
34:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Look at last year's first pick, Caleb Williams.
34:22
[SPEAKER_00]: He did that last year.
34:23
[SPEAKER_00]: It was bad.
34:24
[SPEAKER_00]: It was hard to watch that bears offense last year.
34:26
[SPEAKER_00]: So for those two guys behind two, and I think you're right, so I think it's Zach and then you were, in fact, coach set as much recently.
34:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be, it would be, it would be, you were to just get reps and kind of sit back on scout team and just see things progress from there and hopefully we never see Zach either.
34:40
[SPEAKER_00]: But if he does get out there, I'm really curious to see how he plays with the rhythm of the passing game because there's been times where I've liked it, there's been times where it's gotten too much for him.
34:49
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's been the case for two and you were as well.
34:51
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not gonna just pinpoint that on Zach Wilson.
34:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a point of emphasis this camp.
34:55
[SPEAKER_00]: is to give these quarterbacks the tough looks and be like, we've got to play fast guys because that's how it's going to be comes Sunday.
35:00
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think they're putting them through the ringer right now.
35:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll tell you this, it's I've been at every practice since twenty nineteen.
35:07
[SPEAKER_00]: It hasn't been this close in terms of what it's looked like from a backup quarterback in practice.
35:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Skyler's first couple years were pretty good at practice, but it hasn't it wasn't this good from from Zach and Quinn.
35:16
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that is a good starting point.
35:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm curious to see, you know, where I can grow from here because it has to get better, obviously, but it's a great starting point.
35:23
[SPEAKER_03]: Not even the Skyler and White Mike battles like that.
35:27
[SPEAKER_02]: That wasn't as close to White Mike.
35:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
35:30
[SPEAKER_02]: What I'm trying to say that had been a problem.
35:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.
35:34
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we're going to talk quarterbacks.
35:35
[SPEAKER_02]: So bro, we got to talk about the most important position on the football field.
35:40
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's why we see Travis as we all know.
35:43
[SPEAKER_02]: We're loving it.
35:44
[SPEAKER_02]: We're loving it.
35:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying as we're going to talk about, but yeah, I mean, we already, we already know about water.
35:50
[SPEAKER_02]: We already know about our
35:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Talk about some of the other guys that, you know, and watch him delete.
35:56
[SPEAKER_02]: You told me about Malik before I even got a chance to see Malik and obviously the second year is going to be amazing for him.
36:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Talk about some of the other guys that are going to be impact guys that can help this team out.
36:07
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, with giving guys opportunities, you know, that have been on this roster before.
36:13
[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel about my group this year going forward?
36:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think Devon HN has a say in that like he did last year because I can teach him a marvel at what he can do on a football field in terms of running the ball between the tackles are off tackle and then going out and playing receiver and catching passes there.
36:28
[SPEAKER_00]: So I always make sure to mention him with the group because I feel like between him, wreaking waddle.
36:32
[SPEAKER_00]: You have one of the best triumvirants in the entire league in terms of guys that can, you know, put the ball on the paint.
36:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Beyond that, I mentioned Westbrook Akine, he just has a
36:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And I, you know what, I'm going to go back to KFC because I remember on the podcast that you guys had a mod.
36:46
[SPEAKER_00]: He talked about my love for small-ish speed receivers.
36:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh man, he's in my way, bro.
36:51
[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to bring it up.
36:54
[SPEAKER_00]: He's in my way, bro.
36:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Kyle fucking nailed that.
36:57
[SPEAKER_00]: It was so good.
36:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I loved it.
36:58
[SPEAKER_00]: It was on point and perfect.
37:00
[SPEAKER_00]: But I've, I've tried to, I tried to adapt and grow my ability as an evaluator and amateur scout.
37:06
[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the things I like is how they've, they've given the room and given two of some options in terms of
37:10
[SPEAKER_00]: bigger bodies.
37:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Nick Westbrook, a Canadian was a guy that thirty two catches last year nine touchdowns.
37:15
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a insane rate of touch.
37:17
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, all he does catch touchdowns, right?
37:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so I think his ability to kind of be a big body in the red zone, but also I think he can do some of the stuff that John and Smith did where it's like, you know, look vertical to reconwall or the intermediate to reconwall over something.
37:30
[SPEAKER_00]: there.
37:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go ahead and find what's underneath and we'll get underneath these linebackers and we can catch it and run it after the fact.
37:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I think his ability to kind of hook up and post up in those, you know, short five, you know, hook zone, curl flat zone, just show the quarterback as numbers and get a quick catch and stay ahead of the chains.
37:45
[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a very valuable.
37:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you mentioned, Blake Washington, I just think the world of his game in short space is in what he can do in the screen game as a blocker, as a blocker on the screen game or a receiver in the screen game.
37:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the guy that has really jumped out to me in camp so far has been D.S.
38:00
[SPEAKER_00]: And I asked him today about this because we had him after practice.
38:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he got here on September, first, whatever it was last year, very early on at the end of camp.
38:10
[SPEAKER_00]: And he was in that seahawks game, like playing elevated reps and getting and catching passes and making plays.
38:16
[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought to myself, like, we've seen a lot of young receivers come through here and it's tough for them.
38:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
38:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Tyrik just told you it's been three years.
38:21
[SPEAKER_00]: He still has no one's doing out there.
38:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Which take it seriously or not.
38:24
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's just let's not go there.
38:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we don't want to talk about it.
38:30
[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough.
38:30
[SPEAKER_00]: They ask about it.
38:31
[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough.
38:32
[SPEAKER_00]: They ask about it.
38:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And in terms of what they have to do.
38:36
[SPEAKER_00]: And for him to be able to get out there and make an impact right away, it tells me that he understands what's asked of him and what he has to go about and do.
38:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that shown up big here in his second year of training camp with the my or I guess first year with the Tommy Dolphins and training camp.
38:48
[SPEAKER_00]: He's made a bunch of plays, made a bunch of tough catches.
38:51
[SPEAKER_00]: He seems to always come down with it in contested areas, a little bit of that OJ McDelphi to him in that way.
38:56
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think there's depth.
38:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a well rounded quality of the room and to bring somebody else from a different position group into to put a bow on it.
39:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so fascinated by what Darren Waller might be because I think if he, if he can give you anything close to what he was previously, he's something that two of a hasn't really had since like Devante Parker in that skill set.
39:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's more explosive than Devante Parker was, even though Parker was a receiver in Waller's a tight end, but the ability to kind of play that, that backside X juice or even like a backside isolated Y where you've got a recon while taking coverage off or running crossers or removes the coverage.
39:33
[SPEAKER_00]: for him to be able to just like throw a back shoulder high ball like wallers come down with those like a hundred times in his career and I'm curious to see how that functions with an offense that hasn't really utilized that before if waller is the same guy if all that stuff checks out it makes for a really really difficult dynamic they haven't had in the offense but there's a lot of field though Travis we have a lot of practice in let's get a practice in before he starts catching his hundred and first back shoulder catch okay
40:01
[SPEAKER_03]: I thought I was interested.
40:02
[SPEAKER_03]: Mike McDaniel said when he's asked about him the other day and he's like, you know, he, the way he answered the question and made it seem like that while I was getting closer, but he was like, you know, do we, do you want a guy's first practice in two years, whatever it's been to be a joint practice?
40:19
[SPEAKER_03]: And that made sense to me, you know, that made sense to me.
40:22
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, maybe let's break him in a little bit, you know, in the,
40:27
[SPEAKER_03]: less hostile environment, I guess.
40:29
[SPEAKER_03]: And so I understood that.
40:30
[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm really curious to see what happens there.
40:32
[SPEAKER_03]: It was a headscratcher for some.
40:34
[SPEAKER_03]: It certainly was an eyebrow razor for all.
40:38
[SPEAKER_03]: And it will be interesting to see what he brings.
40:40
[SPEAKER_03]: So you just said something when you talk about the receiver room.
40:44
[SPEAKER_03]: And I was going to save this for the end.
40:48
[SPEAKER_03]: I think that there's going to be a hard cut there in that room.
40:51
[SPEAKER_03]: And I think there's a couple others.
40:53
[SPEAKER_03]: Where do you think Chris Greer or Mike McDonald are going to have the most difficult time?
40:59
[SPEAKER_03]: What position group are they going to have the most difficult time trimming down to get to their fifty three?
41:05
[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like one definitely has to be the receiver.
41:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think it is and I'll pass on that because we just discussed it pretty well at length there because there has been some UDFA's that have
41:14
[SPEAKER_00]: uh... shown well to read black is had a good camp as well arcosu calm was getting back in the mix making some play so it's going to be a tough decision there but the other day going back to the k i c once again he told me hey pick ten db's to make the team and i'm like okay no problem and i try and i was like oh shit yeah how do you how do you do that because there's so many guys that we don't need to know about them yet but
41:36
[SPEAKER_00]: They're recent draft picks or their guys that fit particular roles and it's really tough to trim down to who the the ninth tenth eleven guy might be in the defensive backfield because like Dante trader and Patrick McMores are two guys that I'm very intrigued by as players that are I think can do multiple things to say if you spot but also may be kind of do the same things well.
41:54
[SPEAKER_00]: So do you have to pick one or the other?
41:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Can you keep both of those guys?
41:57
[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe I'll just say safety because between Minka and if he those I think will be like starters pretty much from a jump.
42:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Elijah Campbell's had a good camp.
42:04
[SPEAKER_00]: He's a special team core guy that you know can do a little bit of defense as well.
42:07
[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see what his role winds up being.
42:09
[SPEAKER_00]: and then between those two players trader and and make Morris, if Ashton Davis were healthy like all of a sudden you've got six seven guys back there to choose from and you can't keep that money.
42:20
[SPEAKER_00]: So also a safety, but I think it's a good thing because I think there's going to be plenty of sub packages where they do get three and four tapies.
42:27
[SPEAKER_03]: That's a good thing, right?
42:28
[SPEAKER_03]: We're not saying that we can't find enough guys.
42:30
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like in order to the heart.
42:32
[SPEAKER_03]: What about the running back room?
42:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I can't cut any of the four right now.
42:36
[SPEAKER_00]: They've all been so good in camp and and like and if if you haven't been great in camp, I still like Jalen Wright.
42:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think has had the same camp as like Alexander Madison or even all like Gordon, but I you know that's a guy that traded a fork to go get and I think there's a lot of talent that can't give up on that guy.
42:52
[SPEAKER_03]: You can't tell me that can't Smith is still on this roster and you're going to give up on Jalen right near to like you can't
42:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
42:59
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm unwilling to accept the name too big set that we got it and maybe got a straight there, but I'm like, if you've given him enough runway and still waiting and you know, he might be getting close to the end of it with Jalen.
43:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just wait until we see games because running back, it's always well as positions where it has to be games.
43:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Even in the preseason, I think it's the position where you can see the most in a preseason game as running back.
43:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that Jalen, once we get the pads on, get going, I think he'll look like we thought he would.
43:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it's always important because, you know, you talked about, you know, when you were going against a certain group, you know, you also got, I mean, you look at Jamie Wright, he's probably going against a pretty good group.
43:38
[SPEAKER_02]: And where, you know, I'll leave Gordon and Madison, they're probably, you know, going against less group.
43:41
[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, sometimes you got to sit there and figure out, you know, these guys doing it gets lesser competition or they doing it because they're going to be that good, you know, and that's always one thing that I always had.
43:53
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, to look at when I was when I was playing.
43:55
[SPEAKER_02]: So I loved when Troy Vincent and JD Brown, those guys stepped up against me.
44:01
[SPEAKER_02]: But also love when I was a veteran when Sam Madison and you know, Pat Santin stepped up to me.
44:07
[SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah, I think that no matter what going to this game, we're going to see a lot.
44:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I know you're going to see a lot more in these joint practices.
44:14
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to, I can't wait to hear how we go against one's v one, two v two's, whatever it might be.
44:20
[SPEAKER_02]: And hopefully, you know, we go two v ones.
44:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Things like that to give our guys a look at, you know, a quality number one group in the NFL, especially for some of these young guys.
44:30
[SPEAKER_02]: But going into this game coming up, I mean, what do you expect out of somebody's guys and we've talked about some of the guys that we think could be really good?
44:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I never know, not gonna look from some of our veteran guys, but some of these young guys, who you excited to see no matter who they're playing against out there against Chicago Bears this weekend?
44:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just to kind of, I guess, a jumping off point to assume we see the same thing we've seen the last three years where it's like, thirty-five and acronyms or whatever it is, you know?
44:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
44:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And Ty Reak and the guys with their sunflower seeds and the sideline and all that.
45:01
[SPEAKER_00]: In that case, I'm curious to see how some of the critical positions could play out in terms of, like, backup positions that you're going to have to rely on some point, right?
45:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Like the swing tackle position.
45:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Larry will have to talk about the old one or key on Smith.
45:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Like those are two guys I kind of have circled in a Kawah here Seth, like when when Coach talked about Larry a Boramilla day, he was like, we watched him on tape and we thought there was more to unlock from his game in our system.
45:25
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's exactly what Travis said back on the film review back in March when he signed.
45:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought there was more to his game.
45:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was game.
45:31
[SPEAKER_03]: Keep in track, dude.
45:32
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
45:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
45:33
[SPEAKER_00]: One on the one on the wind column for the old wingfield there.
45:37
[SPEAKER_00]: But I just think that they're going to have to find a third tackle.
45:41
[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to play at some point.
45:42
[SPEAKER_00]: That's how this league works.
45:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And right now, I'm not sure that the masses know, maybe the dolphins do more than we do, but right now it's kind of an unknown.
45:49
[SPEAKER_00]: So how those guys hold up in, you know, it's third night and they get a good pass rush or send a blitz or something.
45:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Can they hold up against that and find a way to get, you know, Zach and Quinn protected in the game on Sunday.
46:00
[SPEAKER_00]: On the other side of the ball, I think it goes back to that quarterback position because, you know, who kind of rises to the crop to the top between Ethan Bonner
46:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of feel like storm is starting to graduate towards like above that question a little bit.
46:13
[SPEAKER_03]: He's obviously got to prove it more on the field, but they think he has.
46:18
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm saying.
46:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I would include him in here, but the last couple of weeks is like, okay, he looks like he's going to be playing a lot and he deserves it.
46:26
[SPEAKER_00]: But with with Ethan Bonner with you mentioned cam Smith with like guys like Isaiah Johnson, who of these guys can kind of put their foot forward and
46:35
[SPEAKER_00]: at least be like you know a fourth corner or whatever it might be a guy that can contribute on special teams and play defense because this bears receive a group is pretty deep.
46:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see who can go up there and have a good game against a good receiver group of the Chicago Bears.
46:47
[SPEAKER_00]: So probably corner back at the tackle position on the offensive line and then like you guys mentioned earlier the two quarterbacks.
46:52
[SPEAKER_00]: I just I suppose see how it looks in games because they've had good practices and good camps and it changes once the games you know get live.
46:59
[SPEAKER_03]: Big time when the lights come on.
47:01
[SPEAKER_03]: It changes a lot.
47:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
47:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
47:03
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you this.
47:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Young guys, big Seth.
47:06
[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about this man.
47:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm nervous as hell right now.
47:10
[SPEAKER_02]: If when I was a rookie a young guy in this game, man, you know what I mean?
47:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Like trying to go out there and prove myself in it at first preseason game and not only that, man, the real prove in yourself comes up and he's doing practices, man.
47:23
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's where the big evaluation will go, because you know, obviously our, or the ones that go against once that we talked about before.
47:29
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm excited to see how these guys react, because I know for a fact that their nervous is held right now, traveling.
47:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I was thinking about this when I was leaving the hotel today.
47:39
[SPEAKER_00]: So the hotel that we're at, I won't tell you guys where it is exactly, but the hallways, the hallways that you go to the elevator, you wrap around like four or five times.
47:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I've never seen that before.
47:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Must be an old building.
47:50
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm guessing, I don't know why that's the case.
47:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And I was thinking of myself.
47:53
[SPEAKER_02]: I was thinking of the hotel, Travis.
47:55
[SPEAKER_02]: People can like, I would want to have all this.
47:57
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be going to have this podcast comes out hopefully.
47:59
[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
48:00
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know.
48:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I was thinking of myself like,
48:03
