- 0:24Speaker 4: Welcome back to artists on artists on artists on artists,
- 0:27Speaker 4: And boy is today a good show? This is awesome.
- 0:33Speaker 5: This is full of treasure and excitement for what's to come.
- 0:37Speaker 5: This group of artists got together when the world was
- 0:40Speaker 5: not together.
- 0:41Speaker 2: There is no year harder than the year that many
- 0:46Speaker 2: of us face in twenty twenty and twenty twenty one.
- 0:50Speaker 2: But it didn't hit anyone as hard as it hit
- 0:53Speaker 2: creators as they struggled to find their voice again. This brave,
- 0:59Speaker 2: ragtag group of artists came together to make a movie
- 1:05Speaker 2: in Quarantine about Quarantine, a novel idea we've never seen since.
- 1:10Speaker 3: They managed to capture the spirit, the heart, the heartbreak,
- 1:14Speaker 3: the trials and the tribulations of a time that the
- 1:19Speaker 3: world had never experienced before, and out of it came
- 1:23Speaker 3: one the only the movie titled break Out. Let's listen in.
- 1:31Speaker 2: It's so good to see you guys over Zoom again.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I mean, this is where I really feel like I
- 1:36Speaker 2: connect with you guys. Zoom We're back. It's really great
- 1:39Speaker 2: to see.
- 1:40Speaker 5: Revis It's a wild it's wild to be together back
- 1:44Speaker 5: on Zoom and know that we're not pressing to create something.
- 1:49Speaker 4: We're just here to enjoy each other.
- 1:51Speaker 6: It's so important. It's so important to be on Zoom.
- 1:54Speaker 6: I've always said that. It feels so important, and it.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Feels like we're like right next to each other again.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 6: Absolutely, Honestly, Can I be honest with you guys, sometimes
- 2:04Speaker 6: I feel more myself on Zoom than I do outside
- 2:07Speaker 6: of Zoom.
- 2:09Speaker 2: You're right, and.
- 2:10Speaker 4: That's what it is to just be a filmmaker.
- 2:12Speaker 2: And that's a movie, by the way, we should write
- 2:14Speaker 2: that down. That is the movie. Totally a movie about that.
- 2:16Speaker 3: That's a movie.
- 2:17Speaker 4: I love that, a movie about someone who's uncomfortable in person.
- 2:19Speaker 2: But that we should write that down. Do you guys
- 2:21Speaker 2: want to We should talk about that.
- 2:22Speaker 1: We should talk about that.
- 2:24Speaker 2: It's really Pavlovian to be here with you guys, because
- 2:26Speaker 2: it feels like it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Does feel Pavlovian.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I was just about to say that, right, my mouth
- 2:32Speaker 3: is exactly because it's absolutely I'm like.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Or are we about to do a props presentation or
- 2:37Speaker 2: are we about to do an art presentation? Right? Because
- 2:39Speaker 2: we planned this whole movie over zoom.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I know, I'm just like, where's my mark? Am I
- 2:43Speaker 1: hitting my mark?
- 2:44Speaker 2: Exactly? Exactly?
- 2:47Speaker 1: Exactly? Well, we should introduce ourselves.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Yes, I'll go first.
- 2:53Speaker 5: I am Kelsey Kelsey, and I was the COVID officer
- 2:57Speaker 5: on Breakout, big role, and I'm so excited to be
- 3:04Speaker 5: here today and be with you all.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Hi.
- 3:07Speaker 6: What's up everybody? My name is Marcy Marcy. I played
- 3:10Speaker 6: Linda Linda on Breakout, and it's a story of a
- 3:14Speaker 6: girl who was trapped in who desperately wanted to make
- 3:19Speaker 6: a name for herself. And I'm so excited to bring
- 3:22Speaker 6: that role to life and for everyone to finally see it.
- 3:24Speaker 2: What's up, everybody? My name is Kenny Kendall. I am
- 3:28Speaker 2: the I played obviously the lead, the romantic lead, and
- 3:33Speaker 2: also at the end kind of the main horror villain
- 3:36Speaker 2: as the genre shifted, and I was of course Glen
- 3:43Speaker 2: Gary Glenn Glenn and dabbled in the directing when the
- 3:46Speaker 2: director was indisposed.
- 3:49Speaker 5: I should also say that too, as the COVID officer,
- 3:51Speaker 5: I did serve as the director for I think a
- 3:54Speaker 5: couple zoom sessions.
- 3:56Speaker 6: I think we all had to become a director at
- 3:58Speaker 6: some point. For well, we don't have to talk about it, obviously.
- 4:01Speaker 2: We don't have to talk about it. I mean, we
- 4:03Speaker 2: didn't know a director, so we just kind of said,
- 4:05Speaker 2: we'll start it and we'll get it together, and whoever
- 4:07Speaker 2: feels in the moment they should direct kind of would
- 4:10Speaker 2: jump in.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so, hey, guys, what's up. I'm Sebastian Bastian and
- 4:16Speaker 3: I played the director as well. And then other than that,
- 4:20Speaker 3: I think I was in a couple of scenes and
- 4:23Speaker 3: I did write this. I did write this. I guess
- 4:27Speaker 3: I should have led with that. I guess I should have.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Led es Sebastian. Yes, and thank you for your work.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Thank you for your work. Thank you so much for your.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Work, Thank you for your work, thank you for well,
- 4:36Speaker 3: you know, I will say it was so exciting to
- 4:39Speaker 3: you know, you know, form a group like this, you know,
- 4:42Speaker 3: like awesome. You know. When I first came up with
- 4:44Speaker 3: this idea called Breakout, I was like this is so interesting,
- 4:47Speaker 3: This is so cool. What can we do with this?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Sebastian bring us all in on the process?
- 4:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 6: Day by day quarantine hits. Right, we hear of a
- 4:56Speaker 6: little virus named COVID nineteen. Everyone starts freaking out. The
- 5:00Speaker 6: grocery stores have lines out the freaking door.
- 5:03Speaker 2: And toilet paper. It's impossible to mind. Remember, do you
- 5:08Speaker 2: guys remember that? That's a big part of our plot.
- 5:10Speaker 3: An idea. I look at all this stuff and I go,
- 5:14Speaker 3: wouldn't this be great on camera? Wouldn't this be crazy?
- 5:17Speaker 3: To do a film about creators not being able to create?
- 5:21Speaker 3: You know what? What? What? What? You know? What is?
- 5:24Speaker 3: What is life in this new world? Because it's all
- 5:26Speaker 3: changing so quickly in that moment, Like I because I've
- 5:31Speaker 3: been following viruses and viril diseases and pandemics for years now,
- 5:35Speaker 3: you know, I've been very interested in it for almost generations.
- 5:39Speaker 3: My family was very affected by the influenza of nineteen
- 5:43Speaker 3: eighteen and ever since then. You know, our family motto
- 5:46Speaker 3: is watch your back, watch your back.
- 5:48Speaker 2: So you know, I really think you should tell everyone's
- 5:50Speaker 2: story about how your family was affected, because that was
- 5:52Speaker 2: really I actually cried when.
- 5:53Speaker 3: You told them to me. Yeah, it was really sad.
- 5:55Speaker 3: We were, we were. You know, at this point, my
- 5:58Speaker 3: great great great grandparents going over in a boat, have
- 6:02Speaker 3: a baby, and then they catch influenza and die, and
- 6:06Speaker 3: the baby is raised on that boat.
- 6:07Speaker 4: So that baby is your great great grandpa. You're great great.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Great great grandpa. Yeah. And then on the other side,
- 6:14Speaker 3: my great great great grandparents on my mom's side, they
- 6:18Speaker 3: were in America and they're so pumped because they just
- 6:23Speaker 3: opened this deli shop, and then the influenza hits and
- 6:27Speaker 3: they have a kid and then they both die.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Truly an amazing story.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And that's your story that made you cry.
- 6:34Speaker 2: It made me cry. So how about you explain the
- 6:35Speaker 2: plot of the movie we wrote?
- 6:37Speaker 3: Great, I would happily do that. So in this story,
- 6:41Speaker 3: a girl named Linda. Linda decides to get away from
- 6:44Speaker 3: it all. It's a little stressed out about all the
- 6:48Speaker 3: stuff going down, and she says, you know what, I'll
- 6:50Speaker 3: just take a little vacation. I'll escape. I'll get an
- 6:53Speaker 3: airbnb for two months in the middle of Whistler, which
- 6:58Speaker 3: is in Canada. We couldn't cross the border, which is
- 7:00Speaker 3: a whole thing. It's a whole thing. A Big Bear.
- 7:04Speaker 3: In Big Bear, I didn't.
- 7:05Speaker 5: Border dramas, border drama, toilet paper drama, border drama, toiletaper drama.
- 7:11Speaker 3: That was just the song of the day, you know,
- 7:14Speaker 3: you know, you know, so what you know, what happens is,
- 7:17Speaker 3: you know, she she rents this place, and you know,
- 7:19Speaker 3: she goes up and then we kind of just slowly
- 7:21Speaker 3: see this poor kind of woman spiral out of control,
- 7:27Speaker 3: and you know, and you know, she has this like
- 7:29Speaker 3: love interest that she meets in town, and you know,
- 7:31Speaker 3: and I don't want to give any anything away, but
- 7:34Speaker 3: I think Kenny Kendall already gave it away. He turns evil,
- 7:38Speaker 3: he turns evil, and you're not sure, like what is
- 7:40Speaker 3: real and what's not real, kind of like COVID, Like
- 7:43Speaker 3: you're not sure what facts you're getting are real and
- 7:46Speaker 3: what facts you're getting you're not real, you know. And
- 7:49Speaker 3: basically a huge turning point of this whole movie is
- 7:51Speaker 3: the toilet paper. She runs out of toilet paper day three,
- 7:54Speaker 3: and getting the toilet paper is a huge issue.
- 7:57Speaker 2: And it's also so relatable, really relatable.
- 8:01Speaker 3: But you know enough about me, you know, I want
- 8:03Speaker 3: to jump in, you know, really quick to just like
- 8:05Speaker 3: the amazing casting crew like we were able to put
- 8:08Speaker 3: together and that that you know, that is you guys,
- 8:10Speaker 3: that is you guys. Well you know, And unfortunately we
- 8:13Speaker 3: never could nail down a director during this time. But
- 8:17Speaker 3: I love that we all just kind of took took jobs,
- 8:20Speaker 3: we all like tried.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I think it proves that, like I think it proves
- 8:25Speaker 2: that actually movies don't need directors, Like I think what
- 8:28Speaker 2: we did, the fact that we did it without a director,
- 8:30Speaker 2: it's like everybody chip in and it really creates something
- 8:34Speaker 2: that's just as good as.
- 8:36Speaker 4: I also find that we don't need leaders.
- 8:40Speaker 6: No, I think this whole concept of communal directing is
- 8:43Speaker 6: really something that is what the industry is going to
- 8:46Speaker 6: be pushing for now, because it's like we don't not
- 8:50Speaker 6: one person can make a plate of spaghetti. You know,
- 8:53Speaker 6: you need the person who makes the sauce. You need
- 8:55Speaker 6: the person who makes the spaghetti. You need the person
- 8:58Speaker 6: in the factory, box by box putting the spaghetti in
- 9:02Speaker 6: the box so that you can walk up to a store.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And buy it.
- 9:05Speaker 3: You know. Yeah, And I will say, like that does
- 9:08Speaker 3: still seem like a very traditional film set, Like you
- 9:10Speaker 3: do need the cinematographer and you do need the producer
- 9:13Speaker 3: and then you do need the you know, the director,
- 9:15Speaker 3: and you're do need the best boy, you know, like yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 3: COVID officer. Yeah, but you know, you know, it was
- 9:22Speaker 3: still you know, great to like not you know, have
- 9:26Speaker 3: a director. I would say, we actually have a little
- 9:28Speaker 3: bit of BTS if you guys want to see just
- 9:30Speaker 3: kind of how the process went down not having a
- 9:33Speaker 3: director on set.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, because I was filming with my go pro
- 9:36Speaker 2: the whole weekend m and.
- 9:39Speaker 3: So this is actually a little bit of that go
- 9:41Speaker 3: pro footage. Yeah.
- 9:42Speaker 2: And I it's so cool that you let me, by
- 9:44Speaker 2: the way, everyone let me because no one could decide.
- 9:46Speaker 2: It's so cool you guys let me put a big
- 9:47Speaker 2: wig over the go pro so I could keep it
- 9:49Speaker 2: going during every scene.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Mm hmmm. And I think it really yeah, it really
- 9:56Speaker 3: blended in like nobody was sure.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I had no idea.
- 10:00Speaker 6: I mean, I was acting straight across from you, and
- 10:02Speaker 6: I had no idea that there was a big GoPro
- 10:04Speaker 6: staring at my face the whole time.
- 10:06Speaker 2: And it was a big one. It was the bigger one,
- 10:09Speaker 2: and it was a big wig, and it was a
- 10:10Speaker 2: big wig and it was red. It was a pippy
- 10:12Speaker 2: long stalkings Wig.
- 10:13Speaker 3: So here's a little bit of that BTS, just to
- 10:16Speaker 3: show this is a scene where Linda Linda Sorry, I
- 10:20Speaker 3: know your real name is not Linda, Linda Marcy. Marcy
- 10:23Speaker 3: character Linda Linda was in the middle of kind of
- 10:27Speaker 3: like that period where she's unsure about where the world is.
- 10:31Speaker 3: So let's just run a little bit of this BTS.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I think it really captures the vibe of not having
- 10:35Speaker 3: a director on set, you know. So yeah, let's see it, guys.
- 10:38Speaker 3: We need to be quiet. We're starting to shoot.
- 10:41Speaker 2: We're starting to shoot, so we need to be quiet. Guys.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Is anyone rolling?
- 10:46Speaker 3: Oh I can roll? Or maybe yeah, Kelsey, could you roll?
- 10:51Speaker 4: Guys.
- 10:51Speaker 5: There's a piece of paper I put down that had
- 10:55Speaker 5: someone's temperature, and.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Just forget about that right now. This is really okay,
- 11:02Speaker 3: let's just roll. Let's just roll.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Hold on, hold on, I think a window is open.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Can we close the windows? Let's just wait?
- 11:12Speaker 1: Okay, so I hear, Okay, here's the plan.
- 11:15Speaker 6: I will yell rolling, then we'll have Jim yell sound
- 11:21Speaker 6: and then well we'll go back to me. I'll say action,
- 11:24Speaker 6: and then somebody else will say okay, go yeah, okay,
- 11:27Speaker 6: and I also.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Think let's just like remember to like throw these lines away,
- 11:31Speaker 5: just to step in as a director type two and
- 11:33Speaker 5: say that, like, I think the tone of this is important,
- 11:36Speaker 5: so I'll be in charge of tone.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Marcy, do you remember is this the shirt you were
- 11:41Speaker 2: wearing or did you change out?
- 11:44Speaker 6: I think it was the same shirt, but I don't
- 11:46Speaker 6: fully remember.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Hold on, just to be sure.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Did we Let's get a dirty too, what's a dirty too?
- 11:55Speaker 4: I love that that wig was just in the center
- 11:59Speaker 4: of it all.
- 12:00Speaker 2: It really shows you firsthand what it was like. And
- 12:05Speaker 2: I think it's going to be an artifact. I wouldn't
- 12:07Speaker 2: be surprised if it ended up in the Smithsonian because
- 12:09Speaker 2: that kind of thing. It's we're gonna want these during
- 12:13Speaker 2: this time period. I don't think we've talked enough about
- 12:17Speaker 2: how important it was for us to create during COVID.
- 12:20Speaker 2: You know other people weren't you.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Know, And I do say yeah, specifically for that you know,
- 12:25Speaker 3: footage having the GoPro to be you know, where Kenny
- 12:29Speaker 3: Kendall's faces, It wasn't where the original camera was supposed
- 12:33Speaker 3: to be set up, So you're seeing most of the set,
- 12:35Speaker 3: You're seeing most of the lights, which is completely unusable,
- 12:38Speaker 3: you know, for for a regular movie. But you know,
- 12:41Speaker 3: we figured it out by the end of like bye
- 12:44Speaker 3: by later that was like an earlier day. But by
- 12:47Speaker 3: the time we kind of all went through, you know,
- 12:50Speaker 3: the breakout, the actual breakout that we had on set,
- 12:54Speaker 3: which was really bonded.
- 12:56Speaker 5: So I want to address no, no, no, no, I no, guys,
- 13:00Speaker 5: stop stop stuff. I do want to address because in
- 13:04Speaker 5: that clip was the beginning of a big.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Mistake I make.
- 13:08Speaker 5: I just I thought it was interesting that that clip
- 13:11Speaker 5: shows when things started to get dicey for me because
- 13:14Speaker 5: I had lost one specific piece of paper that I needed.
- 13:19Speaker 4: You see, I wrote down.
- 13:22Speaker 5: People's test results and their temperatures on one paper and
- 13:26Speaker 5: the names that coordinated with that on another paper, and.
- 13:32Speaker 2: That it was you start crying. I'm going to start
- 13:37Speaker 2: crying because no, I just it's just because I think
- 13:40Speaker 2: it was. Honestly, if we're seeing whose fault it is,
- 13:43Speaker 2: it might be mine. Because, as you guys know, I
- 13:46Speaker 2: was going out and I was hooking up with a
- 13:48Speaker 2: different person in Big Bear every night that I was
- 13:52Speaker 2: meeting on various apps, and it was just my way
- 13:57Speaker 2: of exploring the world because I was feeling stressed and
- 14:03Speaker 2: I you know, it was my moments of kind of
- 14:06Speaker 2: blacking out. I don't even remember.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Well, you know, we had the audience.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We all just hope on our own way, you know,
- 14:12Speaker 1: So I don't blieve it for that and.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Just for the audience. Basically what happened was we did
- 14:17Speaker 3: a lot of pre pro over zoom. We practiced, we rehearsed.
- 14:20Speaker 3: We really thought we had it down, so we thought,
- 14:23Speaker 3: what better way we'll get, you know, just ten of us,
- 14:25Speaker 3: a small small shoot.
- 14:28Speaker 4: A skeleton crew, A skeleton.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Crew actually rent something in Big Bear and we'll go
- 14:33Speaker 3: shoot this out for maybe you know, a week or two.
- 14:36Speaker 3: It ended up taking, you know, I think the final
- 14:41Speaker 3: thing was six months of shooting and being locked together
- 14:44Speaker 3: in this cabin.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Of actual shooting, right. I think there was three or
- 14:47Speaker 2: four months of in person pre pro and then in
- 14:50Speaker 2: person post pro.
- 14:52Speaker 5: No for sure, And I just I do want to
- 14:54Speaker 5: address like it was my responsibility to keep those two
- 14:58Speaker 5: pieces of paper together.
- 15:00Speaker 4: I didn't and I lost them, and I just I.
- 15:05Speaker 5: And it's just I don't know, I'm not gonna start crying,
- 15:08Speaker 5: but that clip really just is the beginning of it all.
- 15:11Speaker 1: But what not to.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Rehash own wounds. You know, not to rehash wounds, but
- 15:16Speaker 3: you know, my thing was, if anybody had a temperature,
- 15:20Speaker 3: if anybody tested positive, we don't need a name, you know,
- 15:24Speaker 3: correlated with that positive test. So we should have just
- 15:27Speaker 3: shut down set that.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I don't even want to know. I don't even want
- 15:30Speaker 1: to know who it was.
- 15:31Speaker 6: Was I talking to them? Am I in an enclosed
- 15:34Speaker 6: space with them? Was it the person who I had
- 15:36Speaker 6: an on stage kiss with. I don't want to know
- 15:38Speaker 6: that information. Because we're all a family, and it doesn't
- 15:41Speaker 6: matter which one of us was going to raves, and
- 15:45Speaker 6: which one of us was hooking up with people, and
- 15:47Speaker 6: which one of us went to something called a kissing farm.
- 15:51Speaker 6: It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. All of these things
- 15:54Speaker 6: are just part of the family. They're part of the
- 15:56Speaker 6: artist's family, and they're part of what makes a movie
- 15:59Speaker 6: making speel so special. And now I'm gonna cry. And
- 16:03Speaker 6: you know what, if even if you would put those
- 16:05Speaker 6: two pieces of paper together, even if they had lined up,
- 16:08Speaker 6: it didn't matter because we all had COVID at that point.
- 16:11Speaker 5: That was after when we all went to you needed
- 16:15Speaker 5: a ride from the We needed to pick you up
- 16:17Speaker 5: from the kissing farm. So we we right, wasn't that correct?
- 16:22Speaker 5: Like I had lost those two pieces of paper. It
- 16:24Speaker 5: was like later that day we had wrapped for the
- 16:26Speaker 5: day and then we all went to go pick you
- 16:28Speaker 5: up at the Kissing Farm together.
- 16:31Speaker 6: Yes, and you took that whole You had to take
- 16:34Speaker 6: that van full of other people who were at the
- 16:36Speaker 6: Kissing Farm.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Hm.
- 16:38Speaker 2: We had to drop everyone else because Uber wasn't going right.
- 16:42Speaker 3: So we had to be you.
- 16:44Speaker 6: Guys did the right thing, which was pick up all,
- 16:47Speaker 6: which was pick up all of my friends the Kissing Farm.
- 16:53Speaker 3: You know, we just had to learn how to become.
- 16:55Speaker 3: We had to learn how to become roommates really quick.
- 16:57Speaker 3: We had to all learn how to become and we
- 16:59Speaker 3: had to learn what it meant to live with each other.
- 17:01Speaker 3: You know, these are I got most most of these
- 17:05Speaker 3: wonderful people just hiring them, but I had never, like
- 17:08Speaker 3: you know, you know, met them before. So we had
- 17:11Speaker 3: to learn how to live with each other and be
- 17:13Speaker 3: a family. As you know, well it was Jarshy Marsh
- 17:17Speaker 3: put it so well.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Our world's changed. Let's talk about the timeline, you know
- 17:21Speaker 2: what I mean? Like, uh, March twelfth, twenty twenty, I
- 17:25Speaker 2: was the host of the special effects show, Universal Studios,
- 17:29Speaker 2: March thirteenth. COVID hits March fourteenth. I get the script
- 17:33Speaker 2: from Sebastian.
- 17:34Speaker 3: In my email. I wrote it in the night. I
- 17:36Speaker 3: wrote it in the night, and I sent it to
- 17:39Speaker 3: email cold emailed a lot of people.
- 17:41Speaker 2: By March seventeenth, Saint Patrick's say, I was in Big
- 17:44Speaker 2: Bear with nine other strangers making the movie of my life.
- 17:48Speaker 1: And I love that we knew.
- 17:49Speaker 6: We knew right away, you know, like this thing where
- 17:53Speaker 6: a lot of people were like, is this going to
- 17:54Speaker 6: be two weeks?
- 17:55Speaker 1: Is it going to be two years?
- 17:56Speaker 6: Nobody knows, but we knew it was important to capitalize
- 18:00Speaker 6: on it right away, and nobody was making movies about COVID,
- 18:03Speaker 6: you know. And I think a lot of the content
- 18:05Speaker 6: of the movie actually reflects that it was exploring those
- 18:09Speaker 6: first three.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Days of COVID.
- 18:11Speaker 6: We didn't really see what happened afterwards because we didn't
- 18:14Speaker 6: we didn't know yet, So it was a lot of
- 18:16Speaker 6: toilet paper eccentric mostly toy.
- 18:19Speaker 3: We were rewriting a lot, you know, because I had
- 18:22Speaker 3: to end up adjusting the script a lot to what
- 18:24Speaker 3: was actually happening in the world, you know, And.
- 18:27Speaker 2: It was challenging to lock ourselves into those three days,
- 18:29Speaker 2: especially because we shot for about six to nine months, right,
- 18:32Speaker 2: so we were still shooting in December. The kind of
- 18:34Speaker 2: those first three days, and we knew more, but we
- 18:37Speaker 2: wanted to make sure a lot more.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Yeah, totally, totally. Okay, I'm going to grab a question from.
- 18:43Speaker 2: The fish Ball Gloves.
- 18:46Speaker 5: You know, I love that this one says, Okay, if
- 18:49Speaker 5: you had to describe your movie and the experienced audiences
- 18:53Speaker 5: are going to go through when they see this, when
- 18:54Speaker 5: this comes out, what would you what would.
- 18:57Speaker 4: You what would you say?
- 18:59Speaker 1: I think it's and I think it's reckoning.
- 19:02Speaker 6: I think it's taking time to, you know, look inward
- 19:07Speaker 6: to ourselves, like this has been such a traumatizing year.
- 19:10Speaker 6: And I think, honestly, I hope audiences see I hope
- 19:14Speaker 6: they experience Catharsis.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I Yeah, I would say, I think they're going to
- 19:20Speaker 2: see representation, you know, I think they're going to see
- 19:24Speaker 2: a representation.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I think creator representation.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Right, creator representation. Finally, the creator's point of view of
- 19:31Speaker 2: what happened during all this, you know what I mean,
- 19:33Speaker 2: because it was it was, it was going to be.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Representation is going to be nostalgia for missing a time
- 19:40Speaker 2: period that we didn't even know we were gonna miss.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I don't know about you guys, but I miss Deep
- 19:44Speaker 2: Quarantine so much right now.
- 19:47Speaker 3: It's tough at the adjustment. It's been really tough.
- 19:50Speaker 2: I think we kind of Stockholm syndromed ourselves a little bit. There.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I'm talking to my therapist about it because he's saying, yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 2: you really feel like you you kind of lost yourself,
- 19:59Speaker 2: you know, from.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Well, that's I do want to say. I just want
- 20:02Speaker 3: to come on, I apologize because I do feel like,
- 20:04Speaker 3: even though there wasn't a director per se, there was
- 20:08Speaker 3: a person leading maybe the feelings that we were stuck there.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Yeah, we did name him the approver.
- 20:14Speaker 3: M Yeah, So and I apologize that. You know, halfway
- 20:18Speaker 3: through I became the approver, and you know, I really
- 20:22Speaker 3: took us in a direction that we're all kind of
- 20:24Speaker 3: still dealing with. So, I guess when I feel this movie,
- 20:27Speaker 3: the one word I would I would say is mistakes.
- 20:30Speaker 3: You know, COVID was a time where a lot of
- 20:32Speaker 3: people were making mistakes, and during that shoot, I'll be honest,
- 20:35Speaker 3: we made a lot of mistakes and a lot of
- 20:37Speaker 3: that footage for six months is completely unusable. But I
- 20:42Speaker 3: also would.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Push back on that.
- 20:43Speaker 6: I would push back on that and say that every
- 20:45Speaker 6: mistake is perfect, every mistake is absolutely perfect, and I
- 20:49Speaker 6: wouldn't change a single thing. When our approver got COVID
- 20:53Speaker 6: and had to go to the hospital, I would not
- 20:55Speaker 6: change a single thing because that meant that you got
- 20:58Speaker 6: to be the approver, and you got that experience, and
- 21:01Speaker 6: we got the experience of working for you.
- 21:04Speaker 5: And I'd love to piggyback pushback on that and say
- 21:10Speaker 5: I think audiences right now specifically need to go to
- 21:15Speaker 5: the movie theaters to have a moment of authenticity. Right now,
- 21:18Speaker 5: a lot of high concept stuff is coming out. I
- 21:21Speaker 5: see a lot of crazy trolls and crazy superheroes and
- 21:27Speaker 5: crazy trolls, and I think, what is so good is
- 21:31Speaker 5: to go to the movie theater and get some authenticity
- 21:33Speaker 5: and to be like here, we're on this date and night,
- 21:35Speaker 5: Like I really encourage everyone listening to just bring their dates,
- 21:38Speaker 5: bring their families, and go to the movies and have
- 21:41Speaker 5: a big reckoning.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Yes, I feel like nothing is more authentic than a
- 21:44Speaker 3: woman slowly losing her mind and her boyfriend turning out
- 21:48Speaker 3: to be a villain. It sounds super authentic to me
- 21:51Speaker 3: right now, you know, so you know, and I guess,
- 21:54Speaker 3: as the approver, I approve that, I really approve that pushback.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Don't do it again. Don't do it again, of course,
- 22:04Speaker 3: of course, but I do I appreciate. I guess. Sorry.
- 22:07Speaker 3: We're in a new world, and.
- 22:09Speaker 6: You know, I think audiences at the time of our release,
- 22:14Speaker 6: our big release August twenty eighth, twenty twenty one, I
- 22:19Speaker 6: think that they're going to really want to see this.
- 22:22Speaker 6: They're going to really want to see content about what
- 22:24Speaker 6: happened the previous year. No one has been talking about this.
- 22:28Speaker 6: No one has shown us, held up a mirror to
- 22:30Speaker 6: the experience and gone, this is what it was like
- 22:33Speaker 6: to run out of toilet paper.
- 22:34Speaker 1: No one is talking about it.
- 22:36Speaker 2: On my social media feed, on my Instagram, I haven't
- 22:39Speaker 2: seen a single person talk about COVID, not sing any
- 22:43Speaker 2: single one of the woodworking fan groups I follow, any
- 22:47Speaker 2: single one of the puppeteering engineering groups that I follow.
- 22:52Speaker 2: No one else bringing this out.
- 22:54Speaker 6: No one's say, women of Los Angeles, the Facebook group
- 22:57Speaker 6: where you look for housing.
- 22:59Speaker 1: No one is talking about it.
- 23:00Speaker 3: M hm.
- 23:01Speaker 5: Because I'll say, it's easy to forget, it's easy to
- 23:05Speaker 5: live in a pandemic and not really check in with
- 23:08Speaker 5: what's going around.
- 23:11Speaker 4: And I mean.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I will say that was Yeah, that was
- 23:14Speaker 3: one of the hardest things of the pandemic is feeling
- 23:17Speaker 3: like nothing had changed, you know, for me and for us.
- 23:20Speaker 3: I feel like, really fundamentally, I just enjoyed my time inside.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Well it was great.
- 23:26Speaker 3: It was kind of the hardest thing. Yeah, it was really.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Hard to enjoy.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was like looking around, I think Todd
- 23:32Speaker 2: I found you guys, because I was like, am I
- 23:33Speaker 2: the only one seeing this? Like I was freaking out.
- 23:38Speaker 6: Like it's like you have of course, you have the
- 23:40Speaker 6: people who are suffering, you have the people who are
- 23:44Speaker 6: in the hospital, But what about the people who were bored?
- 23:47Speaker 3: You know?
- 23:48Speaker 1: And I thought that was so tough.
- 23:50Speaker 6: It was so tough on creepy, because that's our lifeblood,
- 23:53Speaker 6: you know. We need to be hooked up, hooked up
- 23:55Speaker 6: to an oxygen machine full of creativity.
- 23:58Speaker 1: And we weren't getting that.
- 23:59Speaker 6: We were getting that all the oxygen machines were a bull.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Exactly, we need a brain ventilator, you know what I mean.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 24:09Speaker 3: I'm just gonna grab you know, another question for the
- 24:12Speaker 3: fish bowl, Please jump into that. What was the hardest
- 24:15Speaker 3: day on set? Okay, this is a great question, you know,
- 24:18Speaker 3: because you know, as as the writer and pseudo director
- 24:22Speaker 3: book as, we all wore that hat. But as a
- 24:24Speaker 3: certain point four months in becoming the approver, there were
- 24:27Speaker 3: a lot of tough days on set. There were a
- 24:30Speaker 3: lot of tough days. And I would say for me,
- 24:33Speaker 3: one of the toughest days was when we knew Jarmie,
- 24:38Speaker 3: the original approver, was not going to be able to
- 24:43Speaker 3: come back, you know.
- 24:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean for me, I mean there's Breakout Day one,
- 24:51Speaker 7: and break Out Day three and Breakout Day four and
- 24:53Speaker 7: break I had so many pieces of paper, you guys,
- 24:57Speaker 7: I had so many.
- 24:58Speaker 8: Pieces of paper, and it was so hard to keep
- 25:01Speaker 8: all these pieces of paper in line and to date them,
- 25:04Speaker 8: and it was just it was so so extremely difficult.
- 25:09Speaker 8: So I would say the whole process for me was
- 25:11Speaker 8: one bad hard day.
- 25:14Speaker 2: I would say for me, it was the disco fantasy
- 25:18Speaker 2: scene because I couldn't remember that choreography. I just couldn't
- 25:23Speaker 2: remember it.
- 25:24Speaker 3: That was tricky, it was.
- 25:26Speaker 5: And guys, can I just say, can I just freaking
- 25:30Speaker 5: say that? Glenn Gary the role and you, my friend,
- 25:36Speaker 5: you learned the hardest choreo over Zoom.
- 25:40Speaker 4: And I think not a lot.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Of people remember because I had to test because once
- 25:45Speaker 5: we had a couple of breakouts, we started like testing
- 25:48Speaker 5: people even on Zoom, like we just want to make
- 25:50Speaker 5: sure people because we didn't know the virus at the time,
- 25:53Speaker 5: you know what I mean. And I remember you guys
- 25:54Speaker 5: standing behind me when I said, I think we need
- 25:56Speaker 5: to test people before they get on Zoom.
- 25:58Speaker 3: And that was.
- 25:58Speaker 4: So just awesome that we stood united in that. And
- 26:02Speaker 4: I get this.
- 26:03Speaker 5: Choreographer and we test her and I was just like,
- 26:05Speaker 5: oh my god, this is seriously a hard dance routine.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah. And she was really sick when she put it together,
- 26:12Speaker 2: I remember, and so it was like I could feel that.
- 26:15Speaker 2: And what it was interesting is because spoiler alert, you know,
- 26:18Speaker 2: you name the character Glenn Gary Glenn Glenn because one,
- 26:23Speaker 2: it's a tiny secret kind of for the insiders in
- 26:25Speaker 2: homage to David Mammont if you kind of if if
- 26:28Speaker 2: you know David Mammott, you know it kind of were referenced.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Just finish that play.
- 26:38Speaker 2: But Glen Gary Glen Glenn Wink wink wink. I mean
- 26:41Speaker 2: the insiders will know. But but the reason, like he's
- 26:48Speaker 2: named that is because there's four sides of the character
- 26:51Speaker 2: kind of spoiler alert, because he's three.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Of those sides are very similar, very similar, but they're different.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Glenn happy, Gary upset, Glen happy but disturbed, Glenn happy
- 27:06Speaker 2: but evil, And so we had to have all four
- 27:09Speaker 2: Glenn's and I was doing a lot of work for that.
- 27:12Speaker 6: And I think there was that scene where you were
- 27:15Speaker 6: the Glenn that was happy but evil, and you were
- 27:18Speaker 6: just so struggling to make coffee that one day when
- 27:23Speaker 6: we were in the in the kitchen, but you were
- 27:26Speaker 6: just so happy and so evil.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I think we have a clip of.
- 27:28Speaker 3: That actually, Oh yeah, yeah, you know here here, let
- 27:31Speaker 3: me play it. Yeah, okay, I made coffee. Hi, I
- 27:39Speaker 3: maybe coffee?
- 27:40Speaker 1: Yes, baby, are you okay?
- 27:44Speaker 2: I'm fine, I'm making coffee.
- 27:46Speaker 3: I like coffee. Yum, yum, mister coffee. I'm making coffee.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Coffee is good.
- 27:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna need some toilet paper after all this coffee.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Hey, did you see the Galgadol music video that was
- 28:01Speaker 3: so fun? That was such a fun scene. None, I
- 28:04Speaker 3: would say almost none of that was scripted. It was
- 28:07Speaker 3: such an amazing moment.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I read it somewhere somebody wrote it down.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Who wrote that down?
- 28:14Speaker 9: I did not write that down, Kelsey Kelsey, Did you
- 28:18Speaker 9: write that a little bit of the script in?
- 28:21Speaker 3: Did you?
- 28:22Speaker 4: Okay?
- 28:22Speaker 5: So this was when I started using the script to
- 28:25Speaker 5: write down people's temperatures and though And this is when
- 28:30Speaker 5: my paper intake was so big I had. I had
- 28:34Speaker 5: pages that were the script and pages that were temperatures.
- 28:38Speaker 3: And that makes sense because you you loved writing about
- 28:41Speaker 3: how you make coffee.
- 28:42Speaker 5: Yes, and so I one day I wrote someone temperature down.
- 28:46Speaker 5: I wrote like one O two, and then I wrote like,
- 28:48Speaker 5: oh my god, I love my coffee.
- 28:50Speaker 4: I love making my coffee.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Wait, so are you telling me that I accidentally said
- 28:55Speaker 2: your manifesto as signes in the movie? That's crazy. It was.
- 29:00Speaker 3: That's why I explains a lot of the footage I
- 29:02Speaker 3: got because I've been trying to edit this thing before
- 29:06Speaker 3: August twenty eighth, and it has been tough because there
- 29:08Speaker 3: are a lot of scenes I don't even remember writing.
- 29:10Speaker 3: And now I'm realizing I would love to play another
- 29:13Speaker 3: clip of another scene. I had no idea I had written.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Turns out I didn't. It was just Kelsey Kelsey, let's
- 29:19Speaker 3: play this one This was when you know that scene
- 29:22Speaker 3: we shot you two the main actors are walking through
- 29:25Speaker 3: the forest and it's just at that point where they're
- 29:27Speaker 3: in love but things start turning, you know, originally. Yeah,
- 29:31Speaker 3: so let's just play it. Let's play it, baby.
- 29:33Speaker 6: I love to stroll through the forest. I love how
- 29:36Speaker 6: pine cones make a little shape. Pine cone, pine cone,
- 29:40Speaker 6: pine cone, pine cone, pine cone, pine cone on my head.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Hey, Mom, get me off of this set. Come find me,
- 29:49Speaker 2: Come get me off of this set. I don't know
- 29:52Speaker 2: who I am anymore.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Jimmy's temperature is one oh two.
- 29:56Speaker 6: Cannot find his test results, Diane, pine cone, pine cone.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Don't look at me that way.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Don't look at me that way. Don't look at me
- 30:07Speaker 2: that way. Kelsey.
- 30:09Speaker 3: So when I you know, I remember shooting that day
- 30:14Speaker 3: and I wanted to say something, but I couldn't because
- 30:16Speaker 3: I wasn't the director that day. The approver didn't even
- 30:19Speaker 3: look at my line. So the approven was Walter. Yeah, well,
- 30:24Speaker 3: I was gonna say the approv was Walter. Walter was
- 30:25Speaker 3: in the hospital, so it was hard at that time.
- 30:28Speaker 1: You're trying to suit him in. But I remember he was,
- 30:30Speaker 1: you know, he was not well.
- 30:31Speaker 3: But he's out now, he's out now.
- 30:33Speaker 1: He's good now, he's good now.
- 30:35Speaker 3: He's good now. Still very unvaccinated, he refuses to get one.
- 30:39Speaker 3: He says he's stronger than ever. He says, yeah, he
- 30:42Speaker 3: just goes and swims in very cold water every morning
- 30:45Speaker 3: and he's good.
- 30:46Speaker 2: He joined a polar Bear club.
- 30:48Speaker 6: And he can bite like a whole lemon now without
- 30:50Speaker 6: even tasting it.
- 30:51Speaker 2: He could eat it in one bite.
- 30:53Speaker 3: It's crazy. Have you guys seen his YouTube series eating
- 30:55Speaker 3: a lemon in one bite? It's so important.
- 30:58Speaker 2: It goes down his throat like a swallowing a mouse.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I think our COVID officer might be frozen.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Oh no, oh, you know this is classic. This is
- 31:09Speaker 3: classic class.
- 31:11Speaker 2: That's a little inside our guys. We are Zoom and
- 31:14Speaker 2: our COVID officer did the Zoom shut out on her.
- 31:18Speaker 3: And you would not believe in pre pro this happened
- 31:21Speaker 3: all the time.
- 31:22Speaker 10: And just like.
- 31:23Speaker 6: Hollywood Insider, like a lot of people, if you aren't,
- 31:26Speaker 6: if you aren't in Hollywood right now, Zoom is a
- 31:29Speaker 6: platform we use to communicate over the pandemic, and it's virtual.
- 31:33Speaker 1: It's kind of like Skype, but it's.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Like being in person, but on the computer.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Guys.
- 31:37Speaker 2: I want to do the thing that we always do
- 31:40Speaker 2: when we lose. We talk as much about them as
- 31:42Speaker 2: we possibly can before they come on and see if
- 31:44Speaker 2: they catch us.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Yes, yes, that game scuzy where you talk the about shit. Okay,
- 31:48Speaker 3: ready to go?
- 31:50Speaker 2: Okay. Kelsey was terrible at her job.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Right, absolutely terrible. Why would she? Why would she write
- 31:56Speaker 3: things down? There's computers everywhere? This was a you know,
- 32:00Speaker 3: I had ten million dollars of my own money pulled
- 32:02Speaker 3: into this project, so she had the resources she needed.
- 32:05Speaker 6: Absolutely, And I will say, I will say my shit
- 32:08Speaker 6: talk about Kelsey Kelsey is that she comes from inherited wealth.
- 32:14Speaker 2: That's a good shit talk.
- 32:15Speaker 3: That's a good She's Kelsey Grammer's daughter, right, but she
- 32:19Speaker 3: took the first name instead of the last.
- 32:23Speaker 6: And Hollywood insider Kelsey Bramber was in a popular TV
- 32:26Speaker 6: show called Cheers.
- 32:28Speaker 1: For a very long time.
- 32:29Speaker 3: If you're not if you're not familiar, Yeah, he's in
- 32:31Speaker 3: Cheers and he was in.
- 32:31Speaker 2: A puplisher called Back to You with him and Patricia Heaton.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna pull a question from the fish pole.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Hopefully Kelsey comes back to check us on any COVID regulations.
- 32:43Speaker 6: I'm wearing my mask on zoom. You guys all are too,
- 32:46Speaker 6: so we should be covered on that front. But Hollywood,
- 32:50Speaker 6: if you're listening our COVID officer, she's coming back, so
- 32:53Speaker 6: don't sue us. Okay, okay, here's a here's a question.
- 33:00Speaker 1: What are you most excited for audiences to see?
- 33:04Speaker 2: Oh, that is a great question.
- 33:06Speaker 6: I mean, I think it was more just like the
- 33:08Speaker 6: concept that we made a movie itself.
- 33:10Speaker 1: That was so important for audiences.
- 33:13Speaker 6: To see was that it's not necessarily the content, it's
- 33:15Speaker 6: that it's that.
- 33:16Speaker 1: We made, it's that we did it.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I'm excited for them to see that it exists, absolutely
- 33:21Speaker 2: mm hmm.
- 33:22Speaker 6: I'm excited for them to see my name on a
- 33:24Speaker 6: Vimeo link that says that I did something.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Mm hmm. And that's true. I'm I'm only releasing it
- 33:32Speaker 3: on Vimeo private links. Ten million dollars well spent, I
- 33:37Speaker 3: would say, And this is kind of how I always
- 33:39Speaker 3: wanted to go down. We're doing a festival run soon.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Yeah, we're doing the I think I saw the dates.
- 33:45Speaker 2: We're doing the North Hollywood just for fun fest mm hm.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Then we're doing the what was it Des Moines Des
- 33:54Speaker 2: Moines's voices to be heard.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Des Mooin's voices to be heard.
- 34:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I think we're doing talahassee talk about film. We're
- 34:04Speaker 6: not showing the film there, We're just talking about it.
- 34:07Speaker 6: But I'm super excited.
- 34:08Speaker 3: And the last I think we're doing the Saint Paul
- 34:11Speaker 3: Catholic Brotherhood Film Festival. Really excited about that one, and
- 34:16Speaker 3: you told me I had to make an edit for that.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Yeah, there's gonna be a new cut for that one,
- 34:19Speaker 2: which is gonna be a little fun.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't know if you guys know this, but Marcy,
- 34:24Speaker 3: your character ends up converting to Catholicism, and it really
- 34:28Speaker 3: it tied it in really really at the end.
- 34:30Speaker 6: Wow, It's so crazy how with an edit you can
- 34:33Speaker 6: make anything possible.
- 34:35Speaker 3: M because you never said I'm converting to Catholicism. So
- 34:38Speaker 3: I had to get very creative. And what I ended
- 34:40Speaker 3: up doing was, you know those guys who edit the
- 34:43Speaker 3: news and kind of like do mashups of Obama singing
- 34:46Speaker 3: a song.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Oh, I know them. Yeah, I dated one of them.
- 34:49Speaker 3: You dated one of them? Yeah, how was that?
- 34:52Speaker 1: Like?
- 34:53Speaker 2: It was great until we broke up, and then all
- 34:56Speaker 2: of a sudden, there's all these videos of me saying
- 34:59Speaker 2: these crazy things that I've never, you know, said, compared
- 35:04Speaker 2: just this like weird mashup video of me doing all
- 35:08Speaker 2: the lyrics of sticks is sailing away, And it was
- 35:10Speaker 2: like so weird, just different videos, and I was like,
- 35:13Speaker 2: we're broken up, Like it was really weird that they
- 35:15Speaker 2: did that.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, Look who's back.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Kelsey's back.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Oh my god, you got disconnected Classic last literally laughing
- 35:28Speaker 3: so hard, Classic Zoom.
- 35:30Speaker 4: I got disconnected.
- 35:31Speaker 5: And then I forgot where on a piece of paper
- 35:34Speaker 5: I wrote my computer password?
- 35:38Speaker 3: So you got disconnected from your computer?
- 35:40Speaker 5: Well yeah, And that's why I also wanted to address
- 35:42Speaker 5: why sometimes I get mixed up with if I'm texting
- 35:45Speaker 5: my mom or I'm writing on a piece of paper,
- 35:49Speaker 5: or I'm writing my password to my computer or it's
- 35:53Speaker 5: on a piece of paper. I just I refuse to
- 35:56Speaker 5: enter the digital era with my paper. But this year
- 36:00Speaker 5: has taught me I have to also rely on just
- 36:04Speaker 5: the digitals.
- 36:05Speaker 6: Kelsey, I did, like I wanted to say, I admire
- 36:07Speaker 6: you so much because for a while you were doing
- 36:10Speaker 6: the call sheets and you type them all up on typewriter,
- 36:13Speaker 6: and they had so many errors.
- 36:16Speaker 1: But I thought it was so authentic that way.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, and I don't want to yeah, I don't
- 36:20Speaker 3: want to speak like off the cuff here, but I
- 36:22Speaker 3: feel like also some medication would help, like ADHD or
- 36:25Speaker 3: something like that. You feel kind of all over the
- 36:27Speaker 3: place all the time. So yeah, well if you know,
- 36:30Speaker 3: they do have medication for that, you know.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I just love my paper and I'll
- 36:36Speaker 5: leave it at that.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Okay, go ahead, no please.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Please, yeah, no, no, go ahead.
- 36:43Speaker 1: No, no.
- 36:43Speaker 5: I want both of you to tell me what you
- 36:44Speaker 5: want to tell me, because I feel like this room
- 36:46Speaker 5: has a lot to address to say.
- 36:50Speaker 6: Three, Kelsey, Kelsey, I want to know how you got
- 36:53Speaker 6: into COVID officer ing.
- 36:58Speaker 3: I also would love to know that because I was
- 37:00Speaker 3: very confused how it happened. Yeah.
- 37:01Speaker 5: Well, I hate to say it, but I am one
- 37:05Speaker 5: of the firsts because, like we said, the shutdown happened,
- 37:09Speaker 5: and then a day later we had a script. In
- 37:11Speaker 5: the day after, we were in pre pro and I
- 37:13Speaker 5: remember I and this is pre mask by the way, Yeah,
- 37:17Speaker 5: we're in pre.
- 37:18Speaker 2: We didn't even know what those were.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Yeah, we didn't even know what a technical COVID officer was.
- 37:24Speaker 2: I thought doctors and surgeons. I thought that's just how
- 37:28Speaker 2: their faces were.
- 37:30Speaker 4: With those you didn't even know that was a mask.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I thought you were some like freak robot with the
- 37:35Speaker 2: blue mouth.
- 37:36Speaker 3: That is, when did you learn? When? When did it
- 37:40Speaker 3: you know, when did you realize that it was not
- 37:42Speaker 3: like that?
- 37:43Speaker 2: I think I saw something on Bill Maher about it,
- 37:46Speaker 2: and then that's kind of what changed it all for me.
- 37:48Speaker 1: He's so smart, he's funny, so smart.
- 37:52Speaker 3: It was that except where he says, hey, everybody, doctors
- 37:55Speaker 3: faces are not like this, this is a mask. That's
- 37:58Speaker 3: the segmenture.
- 37:59Speaker 2: No one else talks about the stuff he does, and
- 38:01Speaker 2: I connect to it.
- 38:03Speaker 6: No, he was really giving it to Trump like so much,
- 38:05Speaker 6: and like really laying into him a lot.
- 38:07Speaker 1: And I really.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Respect amazing atheism.
- 38:11Speaker 1: He loves atheism a lot. It's like a lot.
- 38:14Speaker 3: What is that? What is that atheism? Yeah?
- 38:18Speaker 2: Well, well we are submitted to the Catholic Brotherhood fest
- 38:22Speaker 2: so I don't know if we should even.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Talk about the word.
- 38:25Speaker 3: No, it's all right, it's all right. I submitted as
- 38:27Speaker 3: a new movie. They'll never find it.
- 38:28Speaker 11: Okay, so here so Kelsey, Kelsey, So we right, okay, right,
- 38:35Speaker 11: because this was pre masked so we on the third
- 38:37Speaker 11: day of this pandemic decided, you know, it would be
- 38:39Speaker 11: really good to have another body in this enclosed space
- 38:42Speaker 11: to just kind of like watch what's happening.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Yeah, just ensure And that's when we started, like every
- 38:47Speaker 5: day my job is changing because we are learning more.
- 38:50Speaker 4: We were I was so it all I think.
- 38:54Speaker 5: I hate to say it, but I am one of
- 38:56Speaker 5: the pioneers of our industry, our little COVID officer industy Tree.
- 39:00Speaker 4: And now I look at what it is. There are
- 39:02Speaker 4: full COVID.
- 39:02Speaker 5: Teams, there are safety meetings. I mean, we didn't have
- 39:06Speaker 5: a safety meeting. I want to say never. We never
- 39:11Speaker 5: had and now it's it brings here.
- 39:15Speaker 10: It cost us hugely, cost us huge cource it did,
- 39:21Speaker 10: but now it's twice. Yeah, and then it came back around.
- 39:26Speaker 6: I will say thet When it came back around the
- 39:28Speaker 6: second time, around December, when we all went to see
- 39:31Speaker 6: our families, and then we came back to shoot more pickups.
- 39:36Speaker 6: When we all got COVID the second time, it really hurt.
- 39:39Speaker 6: Like the first time, I think we were we were ready,
- 39:41Speaker 6: we were in for it as a family, but I
- 39:43Speaker 6: noticed that the morale was significantly lower.
- 39:45Speaker 1: The second time around.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess for me, that's when it became so
- 39:49Speaker 3: much less of a hoax. You know, That's when I
- 39:51Speaker 3: was like, this is real, this is real.
- 39:56Speaker 2: And I, while we are addressing things, I did want
- 39:59Speaker 2: to address us the one day that I was the
- 40:02Speaker 2: approver in October, and as the approver, you know, tried
- 40:07Speaker 2: to get us to go home. You know, I got
- 40:11Speaker 2: us in the van, and I got us out, and
- 40:13Speaker 2: I got us the outskirts of Big Bear and I,
- 40:16Speaker 2: you know, somebody took me away from approver mode and and.
- 40:20Speaker 3: We had to fight you. We had to push you
- 40:22Speaker 3: in that back. Yeah.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, as we say, we're.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Only a third away through shooting.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you no longer because you're no longer the approver
- 40:29Speaker 2: if you are deemed unwell, and you guys kind of
- 40:33Speaker 2: found me to be unwell. I still disagree. I think
- 40:38Speaker 2: I was in my right mind, and I think it
- 40:40Speaker 2: would have been fun for us to have gone home
- 40:42Speaker 2: for good. But but I respect the process and I
- 40:48Speaker 2: respect that you guys made that choice.
- 40:50Speaker 6: I would like to thank you and to also apologize
- 40:53Speaker 6: for the time that I was the approver and you
- 40:56Speaker 6: guys removed me from the set for a while because
- 40:59Speaker 6: I refused to turn the camera on, and that was
- 41:03Speaker 6: an example of me not being in my right mind.
- 41:05Speaker 1: And I do recognize that. I recognize that now.
- 41:08Speaker 3: So it was just tough because we were rehearsing. That
- 41:10Speaker 3: was maybe the most committed we were all we were
- 41:13Speaker 3: in the most set, it felt the most. You were
- 41:15Speaker 3: a great approver to run set, but you just refuse
- 41:17Speaker 3: to turn on the camera. And I just you know,
- 41:19Speaker 3: had to keep on explaining to you what we're doing
- 41:22Speaker 3: right now cannot be seen, cannot be in a film
- 41:27Speaker 3: unless we put the cameras.
- 41:29Speaker 6: And I think that turning the camera on would have
- 41:30Speaker 6: been inauthentic because this we were so in the scene
- 41:34Speaker 6: that was like perfect, perfect performance, and turning the camera
- 41:38Speaker 6: on would have ruined it.
- 41:39Speaker 4: I totally agree. And on that note about not being seen,
- 41:42Speaker 4: I want to.
- 41:43Speaker 5: Say I apologize for the day that I was the
- 41:45Speaker 5: approver and I pivoted the project and I wanted to
- 41:48Speaker 5: do a picture book.
- 41:50Speaker 2: I it was really hard.
- 41:52Speaker 3: We all had to do, really and we were all
- 41:55Speaker 3: losing our mind. I wanted to absolutely losing our mind.
- 41:58Speaker 5: I'm a paper gallup and through and I just wanted
- 42:00Speaker 5: us to make a picture book, and I apologize because
- 42:04Speaker 5: that's what not what we're doing.
- 42:06Speaker 4: We're making a film.
- 42:09Speaker 9: I guess the one, So thank you, I guess I'll
- 42:14Speaker 9: say maybe on a lighter note, I loved when I
- 42:20Speaker 9: was the approval and I came up with the idea
- 42:21Speaker 9: of all of us going to.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Astro Camp space camp next door for kids. That was
- 42:28Speaker 3: very fun. That was actually when we got Yeah, we
- 42:32Speaker 3: we snuck in and we shot.
- 42:33Speaker 4: Rockets and somehow we picked up COVID mm hmm.
- 42:37Speaker 3: And I will actually apologize because, yeah, two bad things
- 42:40Speaker 3: happened at astro Camp. One we got COVID and maybe
- 42:44Speaker 3: that was my fault now thinking about it. It wasn't
- 42:47Speaker 3: you know, anybody hooking up. It was because we went
- 42:49Speaker 3: to Astro Camp and licked everything where kids were. I
- 42:52Speaker 3: made everybody lick and to you know, uh, Devin, our
- 42:57Speaker 3: best boy. We put him on that chair that you're
- 43:00Speaker 3: supposed to launch people in Astro Camp and we didn't
- 43:04Speaker 3: tie him down.
- 43:05Speaker 2: But you know, it's okay, Sebastian because as you know,
- 43:08Speaker 2: I would say, and no offense to anyone else, I
- 43:10Speaker 2: would say, you were probably my favorite approver on set.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Really.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Yeah, there was that one time where you had to
- 43:17Speaker 2: kind of punish me because I wasn't doing what you wanted,
- 43:22Speaker 2: and as a punishment, you did my character for what
- 43:27Speaker 2: ended up to be thirty to thirty five minutes of
- 43:29Speaker 2: the movie.
- 43:32Speaker 3: I remember, I do remember.
- 43:33Speaker 2: I think we have a clip of the scene where
- 43:36Speaker 2: it switches for me to you.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, okay, let's play it. This is a great scene.
- 43:41Speaker 3: This is between our two leads, and it's just when
- 43:43Speaker 3: she starts interrogating him about kind of where he's been,
- 43:46Speaker 3: what's going on, And you can actually see the moment
- 43:49Speaker 3: where I didn't think. You know, you're fantastic. I want
- 43:53Speaker 3: to reiterate you're a fantastic actor, Kenny, but there was
- 43:58Speaker 3: just a moment where I thought you weren't getting it,
- 43:59Speaker 3: and I felt like I had to get in totally.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's if you paid really close attention, I think
- 44:03Speaker 2: you'll be able to notice it.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Glenn, what's wrong?
- 44:09Speaker 6: You're acting so strange.
- 44:11Speaker 2: I'm acting the way I need to act, the way
- 44:14Speaker 2: I need to survive Past home.
- 44:16Speaker 1: You came out so late, you were covered in dirt
- 44:20Speaker 1: and mud. Where were you?
- 44:23Speaker 2: I was searching for the cure of this brand new
- 44:26Speaker 2: disease called COVID.
- 44:29Speaker 3: It's called COVID nineteen. Don't you get that? Don't you
- 44:33Speaker 3: understand that? Of course I love coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee.
- 44:38Speaker 4: Now can we cut? Can we cut? Someone? Someone has COVID,
- 44:44Speaker 4: So we should shut down.
- 44:45Speaker 2: I can't breathe.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Under this bag.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Shut up. You're gonna learn your lesson. The approver says,
- 44:51Speaker 3: you sit under that bag until you learn your lesson.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Question for our listeners, did you notice the switch? Did
- 44:56Speaker 3: you notice where the switch.
- 44:57Speaker 5: Was before we have to leave here today, this beautiful zoom?
- 45:05Speaker 5: What each of you thinks the future looks like for
- 45:08Speaker 5: us as society and for us mainly importantly as filmmakers,
- 45:12Speaker 5: as we navigate.
- 45:13Speaker 4: Post COVID and post post this film.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Well, I will say that, you know, there is kind
- 45:25Speaker 2: of another I've just been hearing about. This is just
- 45:27Speaker 2: kind of another wave of COVID that's causing a lot
- 45:29Speaker 2: of problems. And can I just say, I'm so excited
- 45:31Speaker 2: because I'd love to shoot a sequelten.
- 45:35Speaker 4: Holy shit, I was hoping you would say something. I
- 45:37Speaker 4: was hoping that would come up.
- 45:39Speaker 1: I was so I'm so excited. What's it called?
- 45:43Speaker 3: Oh this, it's called breakout too?
- 45:45Speaker 2: Oh?
- 45:46Speaker 1: I love that. Oh my god, what a fun way
- 45:49Speaker 1: to keep it going. Oh, that's so exciting. I can't
- 45:52Speaker 1: wait to explore this pain. I cannot wait to explore
- 45:55Speaker 1: the pain of the upcoming wave. That's so exciting.
- 45:58Speaker 2: That's awesome, awesome.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:01Speaker 2: So I think that's what I'm kind of looking forward to,
- 46:05Speaker 2: is being able to create more in whichever situation.
- 46:09Speaker 3: I'm really really, you know, looking forward to just diving
- 46:12Speaker 3: in again, diving in again, getting lost in the internet,
- 46:15Speaker 3: getting lost physically. I was lost for a very long time,
- 46:20Speaker 3: just I could not find my car, and you know,
- 46:25Speaker 3: not having not and you know, not having to worry
- 46:32Speaker 3: about outside society. I don't want to go to a
- 46:36Speaker 3: coffee shop field with other writers trying to write something.
- 46:39Speaker 3: I want to write something in my room because I'm
- 46:41Speaker 3: scared of what's happening in the world. And then I
- 46:45Speaker 3: want to go for six months with strangers and now
- 46:49Speaker 3: who have become my family and some of my best friends.
- 46:52Speaker 3: And do we see each other. No, but that's fine.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Families don't see each other after a certain period. And
- 46:59Speaker 3: I just want to make art, you know, I just
- 47:02Speaker 3: want to make art.
- 47:03Speaker 6: I want to make art, so so, so, so so
- 47:07Speaker 6: bad and I would just love to really quickly plug
- 47:11Speaker 6: I mean obviously so excited for this film.
- 47:13Speaker 1: August twenty eighth, Vimeo come out and see it.
- 47:16Speaker 6: Come out six pm and see it six pm wherever
- 47:20Speaker 6: you Vimeo.
- 47:21Speaker 3: You want the private links, message me if you want
- 47:23Speaker 3: the private.
- 47:23Speaker 2: Links PM only on Vimeo. If you don't get on
- 47:26Speaker 2: at six pm, we are removing it.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna take it off. But also on August thirtieth,
- 47:36Speaker 1: my film Inside the Kissing Farm comes out, and.
- 47:40Speaker 3: This is you were shooting the movie the entire time.
- 47:43Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a real It was a skeleton crew
- 47:46Speaker 6: of about forty five to sixty people, and we're sort
- 47:50Speaker 6: of it was a similar family vibe where we were
- 47:53Speaker 6: all at the same time kissing in real life and
- 47:56Speaker 6: kissy kissing in the movie.
- 47:58Speaker 5: I did a COVID officer, I like filled in for
- 48:00Speaker 5: somebody right one of those days of the kiss.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Who did we brought her? Oh, we brought her over
- 48:04Speaker 1: her because the other COVID officer got COVID.
- 48:07Speaker 2: Can I ask a quick question, what's the product at
- 48:09Speaker 2: the Kissing Farm? What's the kind of product you're going towards?
- 48:13Speaker 2: The product of the No the Farms have products. I
- 48:17Speaker 2: guess I'll have to see the movie to find out,
- 48:19Speaker 2: but if you could tell me now, that would save
- 48:20Speaker 2: me a lot of sleepless nights. I just want to
- 48:23Speaker 2: know what you guys did there.
- 48:25Speaker 3: So the farm, the farm.
- 48:26Speaker 6: The export is love and forgiveness. The export is human compassion.
- 48:31Speaker 6: And we keep the lights on the way we do
- 48:36Speaker 6: any job by love and all knowing. And someone who
- 48:42Speaker 6: runs the farm's dad is the president of Raytheon, so.
- 48:46Speaker 2: We get some support there, you know. Can I just say, Marcy,
- 48:50Speaker 2: that's an incredible pitch because it just makes me neat
- 48:53Speaker 2: to see the movie. It gives me more questions than answers.
- 48:57Speaker 6: And that's and we want people to come with questions.
- 48:59Speaker 6: We want be questions.
- 49:01Speaker 5: Important, so important, I'll say, for the future. For me,
- 49:05Speaker 5: it looks like breakout too. Hopefully, I I really, I
- 49:09Speaker 5: really hope.
- 49:10Speaker 3: I'm so sorry you're not coming back. You're probably not
- 49:13Speaker 3: going to be coming back now. Why is that we
- 49:16Speaker 3: got COVID two to three times, maybe even more, but
- 49:21Speaker 3: you kept on losing the papers.
- 49:22Speaker 5: That's maybe because we had we had many cast members
- 49:25Speaker 5: at Kissing Farms, and.
- 49:27Speaker 3: We and as the COVID compliance officer you're kind of
