- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Amharic with Fexingo? Luna: Absolutely! I've been practicing my Amharic all week. What are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're talking about weather — specifically wind and rain. You know, ነፋስ and ዝናብ. Luna: Oh, that's perfect. It's been so rainy here lately. I need those words. Lucas: Before we dive in, I just want to say — if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Amharic, the reason these episodes stay ad-free is listener support. You can help by visiting buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, even a small gesture goes a long way to keeping this going. Now, let's talk about the weather! Lucas: So, to say 'it's windy', you say ነፋስ ነው. Let me say it slowly: ነፋስ ነው. Luna: ነፋስ ነው. Lucas: Nice! You got it. Now, 'it's raining' is ዝናብ እየዘነበ ነው. That's a bit longer. Repeat after me: ዝናብ እየዘነበ ነው. That's a mouthful! Lucas: You're doing great. Let's put them in context. Imagine you look outside and see rain. Luna: So I could say: ዝናብ እየዘነበ ነው. And then someone might ask: አየሩ እንዴት ነው? — how's the weather? Lucas: Exactly! አየሩ እንዴት ነው? is a great question to know. Let's practice that: አየሩ እንዴት ነው? Lucas: Perfect. And you can answer with ቀዝቃዛ ነው — it's cold — or ሞቃት ነው — it's hot. So if it's windy and cold: ነፋስ ነው፣ ቀዝቃዛ ነው. Luna: ነፋስ ነው፣ ቀዝቃዛ ነው. That sounds like my morning commute. Lucas: Let's do a quick scene. And you answer using one of the phrases. Luna: Okay, go ahead. Lucas: Wow, that was perfect! You combined both. Excellent. Luna: Thanks! I'm feeling good about this. Can we go over them one more time? Lucas: Sure. We've got: ነፋስ ነው — it's windy; ዝናብ እየዘነበ ነው — it's raining; አየሩ እንዴት ነው? — how's the weather?; ቀዝቃዛ ነው — it's cold; and ሞቃት ነው — it's hot. Luna: Great. I'll practice these. Thanks Lucas, and thanks to everyone listening. If you found this useful, remember you can support Fexingo at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Exactly.
