- 0:01SPEAKER_00: If you felt lonely, isolated, disconnected, with an empty feeling inside and just yearning for more, knowing something is missing, then this podcast is for you.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: So here's your host, Joe Mittigan.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Hello, and welcome to We.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Have you ever felt completely frustrated and exhausted from trying to prove to the world that you are enough?
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: I certainly have.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: For years, I thought if I could just accomplish enough, earn enough, achieve enough, help enough people, or receive enough recognition, eventually I would feel like I was enough.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: So you know what?
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: I kept going.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: I kept pushing.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: I kept achieving.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: I kept trying to prove myself.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: And whenever I accomplished one thing, of course, it felt good for a little while.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: But then I needed something else, another accomplishment, another person to approve of me, another dream to chase, another reason to believe that I mattered.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: And eventually, you know what?
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: I began to truly wonder, and I finally started to understand why I was so exhausted.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: I was asking the outside world to give me something that could only be discovered inside of me.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: I thought I was pursuing success.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: But underneath so much of that pursuit, quite honestly, I found was fear.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Fear that maybe I wasn't enough.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Fear that if I stopped achieving, people wouldn't value me.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Fear that if I stopped proving myself, I might finally have to sit quietly with myself and ask, who am I?
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: When I have nothing left to prove.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Not because of what I accomplished, not because of how much money I made, not because of how many people knew my name.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Not because of what the world thought of me, but simply because I was created with value, purpose, and meaning.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: For most of my life, I thought abundance was something I had to acquire.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Today I'm beginning to understand that some of the greatest forms of abundance cannot be bought at all.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Peace is abundance, love is abundance, purpose is abundance, freedom is abundance, gratitude is abundance, and maybe one of the greatest forms of abundance is finally being comfortable with the person I am becoming.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: That doesn't mean I stop dreaming, it doesn't mean I stop growing.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: It means I no longer have to pursue them to prove that I am enough.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: I can pursue them because I am alive, because I have purpose, because I have something to contribute, because I believe my higher power is guiding me towards the person I was created to become.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: And that changes everything.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Because when I stop needing the world to validate me, I stop giving the world control over my peace.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: And maybe that's where inner abundance truly begins.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Not when the world finally gives us everything we think we need, but when we discover that what we've been searching for has been growing inside us all along.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: So today I want us to look at something together.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: I want to look at what our lives would look like if we stopped trying to prove that we are enough and started living from the belief that we already are.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Maybe we'd stop chasing approval.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Maybe we'd stop comparing ourselves to everyone else.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Maybe we'd stop living in fear of what other people think.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: And maybe, just maybe, we could finally sit quiet enough to hear our higher power whisper.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: You don't have to prove who you are.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: You simply have to become who you were created to be.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: My name is Joe Mittiger, and this is We.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Welcome everybody.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the We podcast from around the world.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: It is great to be here with you tonight.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: It's one of the first days of fall here in Atlanta, and it's always a great time of year.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: You know, we have pretty brutal summers sometimes.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: And this summer towards the end got really hot, quite honestly.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: In the beginning, it wasn't too bad.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: I enjoy sitting outside, and you know, I'm one of these that practices what I preach about getting outside in the sun at least five minutes a day.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: And it was great at the beginning of the summer, but boy, as the end of the summer came, it just was so stifling you could barely breathe.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: So happy to say that fall is here.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: We've had a couple of kind of rainy days, which are cool, the big storms, and it's cooling off.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: And it's just a it's a beautiful time of year here in Atlanta, Georgia.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: The trees start changing colors, and it's kind of like the metaphor of what we're doing here at the We Podcast, the whole idea of change and transformation and growing and shifting.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: And the seasons are a perfect example of that.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: They really are.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: And the fall season is truly when we kind of shed the skins of our yesterday and get ready for the growth of silence.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: And hard telling what spring's going to bring to us, but I know it's going to be a wonderful thing.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: And I'm super excited to be here with you to share that.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: So I want to welcome everybody.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: You know, it is exciting.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: My book is just about done.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: Continue to visit joemittica.com and pick it up for free, please.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: It's a free download.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Digitally, click, click, click.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: You have the book.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: I'm going to start mentioning it more and more because I really want people to visit that website and I want it to be my gift to you.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Give it to everybody.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Tell anybody you want.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Pass it on.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: Take any part of it you want and make it your own.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: It was given to me freely by a power greater than myself.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: I share it all the time.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: That book was channeled through me well over 30 years ago now.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: And it's now time to give it out to the world like God gave it to me.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: And I'm going to talk about some of that process and what happened with that.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: This whole idea of not feeling enough, that is a challenging, challenging experience because we tend to live our lives chasing things in our external world, not even knowing why we do it, because the world kind of celebrates success in a business or relationship or community or family and all of that.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: And those are all wonderful things, of course, to pursue, to accomplish, and to acquire.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: And it doesn't matter what you achieve in your outside world, that internal experience, that internal feeling of not enough is a brutal one, especially if it's big for you.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: For some people, you live your whole life, you don't even know it's there.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: But for most of us, when we slow down enough, we can feel it.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: And that's really what this podcast is going to be about.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Kind of where it came from, how it acts in our world now, how it recreates itself in our head all the time, the spiritual belief systems that society has shared.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: I'm going to challenge a bunch of those today because the whole idea of enough, there's one thing to have a spiritual understanding of created in God's image and the true understanding that we already are.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: And that's very different than feeling like you are enough.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: And I'm going to separate those things today, kind of dissect them and talk about both of those concepts in length.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: For the new people, I welcome you.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: I always want to kind of give a little bit of a recamp.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: We've got tens of thousands of people now joining us from around the world.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: The We podcast is ranked number one in how to in Canada, Norway, United Kingdom.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Thank you, all of you, and numerous other countries.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: We're in about 30 countries now.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: And I always like to share that because it gives me such a sense of grace.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: It gives me such a sense of gratitude.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: You know, my path was so brutal for so many years that way back when I remember thinking, if I can just help one person, it would really make my life make sense.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: And I had some pretty significant experiences around that over my journey.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: And now though, I'm literally living my personal belief that humanity's waking up.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: And I'm living it as we are the generation of change, because one of the reasons this generation, me, you, everybody on this podcast, we are the foundation of changing humanity for generations to come.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: And technology is one of those reasons.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: And literally, I can share my experience, strength, and hope from my home office here in Atlanta, Georgia, and push a button, and people around the globe hear this message.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: And it's just an amazing thing.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: And I am in awe of the influencers and these amazing podcast hosts that have been doing it for many, many years.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: That when they started six, seven, eight, nine years ago, this whole world of self-discovery and spiritual warriors and people seeking, craving, wanting, needing more information to make their to just make their day better, you know, 10 years ago it was nothing like it is now.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: And I applaud those people because they are the ones that kind of forged the way through the jungle, if you will.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: And now the We podcast is available and the Apple systems.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: I would imagine a lot of people on this podcast have heard the amazing woman named Mel Robbins.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: Now, this is a just a fantastic person.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: She has a massive audience.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: You know, when she started her podcast, and I don't know the history of it four or five years ago, there wasn't near the audience that there is now.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: And I welcome all of you, you know, I really do.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: And I kind of, you know, typically I'm the guy out there always starting a new path.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: But to be completely honest with you, most people on this particular on my podcast here, the We Podcast, you've been on other podcasts before.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: You have been.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: And it allows for my ultimate goal of a hundred million downloads a month to be a real life thing because there's hundreds of millions of people already on a spiritual path.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: There's hundreds of millions of people already listening to self-help, personal growth, spiritual types of messages out there from these amazing people.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: And, you know, that goes anywhere from the people that teach meditation to the people that teach positive affirmations to the people that teach recovery to self-discovery, to the how-to podcast, to these amazing people out there that have this knowledge about health, the Gary Brecas of the world, and others like him.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: We live an amazing time.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: And I say that word over and over.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: I guess tonight I'm just in a place of gratitude because it's just really cool.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: And thank you all for your support.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: I like to keep everybody abreast of me and what goes on with me sometimes.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: I found my last the podcast that was actually sent out today, and the podcast I'm doing now goes out in a couple days.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: It talked about how we really heal stuff.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: And that podcast, in that podcast, I talked about when you hear the great big voices, your reactionary voices, how do you stop the pain and how do you heal and change your external world?
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: Well, when you hear reactionary voices, the big, the loud, the ugly, the disgusting, the hateful voices, instead of acting them out, write them down.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: And that whole process, people wonder why they keep living the same path over and over.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: Well, because they're following the same guidance system in their head over and over and over.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: One of the ways you change that guidance system is you look for your bigness, the reactionary bigness.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: Well, I told the story a couple, two or three weeks ago.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: I had an interaction with a colleague, completely took me by surprise, blindsided.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: And I hurt her somehow.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: I still don't really know how.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: And eventually I got through the whole process and I made amends.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Because I don't need to know.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: I just need if someone said that I caused them harm, I'm going to make amends.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: Not out of guilt, out of empathy.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: Never mean to cause anybody harm.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: And I do practice what I preach.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: I do.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: As I was preparing notes and I finished my the first section of my 40,000 piece puzzle.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: And I'm going to tell that story in a second, but I'm cleaning up so I can move on.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: And I found my old notes because in my silence I was writing notes.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: And the old big, ugly, who do you think you are?
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: You blankety blank, blank, blank, and cussing here and cussing there, all at this person that a week later, 10 days later, I made amends to.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: Well, how was I able to do that?
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Because I did not dismiss or dishonor the bigness of my big voices.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: It caught me off my guard.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: It hurt my feelings.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: I was angry.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: And you know, when I get angry, I get indignant.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: How do how dare you blank blank blank?
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: Who do you think you are?
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Now, the great news, all that was in my silence in my head.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: So I write it down while I came across those notes.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: If I wasn't really working hard, not to cuss on this podcast, you know, for those of you that have been around for a while, I looked on Apple Podcast one day and I saw this little squiggly mark.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: I didn't know what the heck it was.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: Well, come to find out that I had cussed too much.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: And that squiggly mark rated my podcast explicit.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: I was like, what the heck?
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: This is a spiritual podcast.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: And I obviously I get ramped up and I cuss too much.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: So I am controlling that.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: And if I wasn't, I would read you what I wrote.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: And I'm telling you, there was a lot of cuss words in that particular message to myself in sacred silence.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: So when you hear your bigness, honor it.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Write it, honor it.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Don't act it out.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: Honor it by writing it down.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: Honor it by putting it out on paper, letting anything you need to say, whatever's going around in that head of yours, put it down on a piece of paper.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: And if you're new with it and it's bothersome for you, tell somebody else.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: We're going to talk about that concept that's called a first step, about why we don't feel enough today.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: I'm going to get to that a little bit later.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Back to my puzzle.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: I'm asking you, I do things I believe that if I can do something, anybody can do something.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: I am not special.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: I tell people all the time, I am just like you.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: And practiced.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: My first conscious awareness was back in the late 80s.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: So I've had conscious awareness for a while.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: And I learned about the inner child February 16th, 1990.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: So I will say I am practiced.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: But special, different, unique?
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: No.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: Human, just like you.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Say it all the time.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: I'm the guy in the grocery store next to you in the aisle.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: I sit next to you in church.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: I'm that guy.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: If you're here in the Southeast at a baseball game the past four, five, six, seven years in the young youth age, you definitely saw me.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: You'll know my son Joseph's name.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: He'll be drafted here in three years.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: You'll hear the name Mittigan.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: You'll say, hey, I remember Mr.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: Joe on the Wii podcast.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Tell me about his son.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: He's starting, he's going to have his first college game this Thursday.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: So I am super excited to go visit that him and watch.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: Well, I share that because I was guided into silence about, I don't know, no, a couple months ago.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: And I resisted because I equated silence with solitude.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: Well, basically, all my higher power wanted me to do is take my headphones off and get in silence.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: And I say that.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: Because as you sit there witnessing your big ego voices, your glass-empty, glass, not full voices, the hateful, hurtful, harmful voices, which most of us have, if you sit there long enough and witness, then you're going to hear a softer voice.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: You will.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: And you have to start somewhere.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: You know, a lot of people say, well, go sit in silence for 36 hours in meditation, and you can't make it 36 seconds.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, that that's why I say to people all the time, start at any level, but then just say, stay consistent.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: Consistency over time is the key.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: My son Ryan, when I first he first got in front of the piano, he wasn't 10 years old.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: His feet could not hit the floor, but he had a gift.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: I saw his gift from God in that piano.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: So what did we do?
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: Back then, it was five minutes a day, four days a week, three minutes, four minutes.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: He was young, he was little.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: Now, if you hear him, he's going to be 15 here in a couple of weeks.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: He's an absolute modern-day Mozart.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: Because there's been a consistency over time.
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: So if you haven't started your practice of silence, start tomorrow, start tonight.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: And what does it mean?
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: It doesn't mean no motion, it means no external stimulus.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: And start with five minutes and then do the next day five minutes.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: And if you're like me, you might have to put it on your calendar.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: You might have to write yourself a note.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: When I first started doing the inner child work 25, 30 years ago, I had stick'em notes, you know, the little stick-em pads, and I'd place them everywhere.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: I when I started doing inner child work, I was still drinking.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: I literally put a stick-em note on the top of my Jack Daniels bottle.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Now it didn't say don't open and don't drink.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: It said check in with your little kid.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: So if in starting a new behavior, you might have to write yourself notes.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Definitely ask for the strength and courage.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: Connect.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Ask your higher power for the strength and courage to start a new behavior, especially a self-loving behavior like that.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: The other things that we're going to talk more about the entire position of self-love, most, because my expertise of experience is in the emotional sense of personal growth and the consequence of spiritual growth.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: But you know, there are some simple things.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: I can't talk about nutrition.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: I can't talk about exercise.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: I'm not an expert in any of that.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: But I can tell you the little things.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: Everybody on the frickin' planet says drink water.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Well, do you drink enough water?
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: If the answer is yes, great.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: For most of you, the answer is no.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: And I'm not going to tell you to just go drink water like everybody says to.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: What I'm going to tell you to do is put it on a list.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: And then when you go to drink it, listen to your voices.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: Listen to the voices that say something like, I don't like drinking water.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: I hate drinking water.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: I don't want to drink water.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: I don't want to take the time to drink water.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: I think drinking water is stupid.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: No one drinks water.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: Those voices.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Because the entire planet says, drink water.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: It's good for you.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Well, why don't you?
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: It's not because you're weak.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: It's not because you're not motivated.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: It's not because you don't have the love for it.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: It's because the voices in your head that you don't even know are there are keeping you from drinking water, period.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: So what I'm suggesting is the next time you try to drink some water, listen to the voices.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: And if you do it the first day, no voice is great.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: But then listen on day three.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: Listen on day four.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: Listen on day five.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Listen to what your voices are saying about drinking water.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: It's going to be things like, oh, that's too much hassle.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: It's not that big a deal.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: Nobody really does it.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: You know, it can't be that.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: Whatever your voices are.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Because those are glass empty voices that are the reason that.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: That your self-loving behaviors aren't done is not lack of motivation.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: It's not lack, nothing wrong with you.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: It's a guidance system in your head you don't even know is there.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Write them down, tell somebody, discuss it, and then work to get in that pattern.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: The other thing is sunlight.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: Get outside five minutes a day.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: I've done it hours at different times.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: I did it earlier, but five minutes a day.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: I'm not really sure.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: I just hear different people say, get in some sun.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: I'm not talking about frying yourself, and I don't have the medical rhymes or reasons.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: But if the entire world and earth is born and lives because of sunlight, doesn't it make sense who would be good to get it on your skin?
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: So try, start five minutes.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: And the other thing is walking.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: Now, I have to tell you, some days, some weeks, I get in a real pattern of walking.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: These past couple, two or three weeks, I'm out of my pattern of walking.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: So what do I do?
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: I notice, I witness, and then I write it down.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Now, do I do it with just myself?
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: No, because if I could do it by just myself, I would already be doing it.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: So what do I do?
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: Dear God, I just did it before this podcast.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: Dear God, give me the strength and courage to get back in the routine of walking.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: We have a communion, we have an available connection to a power greater than yourself more and more and more.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: Humanity is waking up to the feminine side of herself more and more and more.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: And you can ask that part for guidance and strength and courage every day.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: And you watch what happens.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: I was just on the phone with a woman I support.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: She was going through a bunch of different different not challenges, but not emotional challenges, but spiritual awakening, not sure what my tomorrow looks like challenges.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: And she starts writing it down.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: And sure enough, she texts me, Oh my God, Joe, you're never going to believe it.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: And she was reading.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: She's a Christian.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: She's reading in her Bible.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: And literally, as she's reading, she's getting the answers internally to the questions she's had the past three or four days.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: And I said to her, I said, Yeah, it sounds like God's talking to you.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: Her immediate reply was, Well, I'm not sure if it's God, which is fine, but I sure do have some clarity.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: And that availability, folks, is if you're here, if you're on this podcast, you are a spiritual warrior.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: Period.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: You couldn't make it if you're not.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: So, in that position of a spiritual warrior, I want you to remember when your first conscious thoughts were so you can start identifying yourself.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: When I did that the first time, and I said, Oh my gosh, you know, 35 years, almost 40 years been on a conscious path, 35 years.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: I went, wow, I didn't even know that about myself.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, the more you start acknowledging your path, you to you, this is sacred stuff.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: This isn't you go out, hey, guess what?
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: I had my first conscious thought 30 years ago.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: No one cares except you when you're brushing your teeth.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Another thing we're going to talk about, the self-acknowledgement is how we truly heal and get on the other side of not good enough issues.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: And the last thing I want to talk about, which is important, two things before I get into this not enough experience.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: I want people to understand.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: My message here has nothing to do with your eternal life and your belief systems of your eternal life.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: That's between you, your family.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: A lot of times it's your religious beliefs.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: It's that is not my message here.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: I don't have any idea about that.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: I have my own personal beliefs on the concept, but that is not the We podcast message.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: That is not my spiritual message.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: My spiritual message is not about your eternal life, not where you go after you transcend.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: That isn't what I'm talking about, because I don't know where you're going.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: My message is about learning how to follow the internal guidance system today, right now, and tomorrow, right now, so your today can change, so your tomorrow can be grander than your yesterday.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: That's the We podcast message.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: So when people try to cloak me and my message, and I've had people try to put me into are you spiritual or religious?
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: Or you know, I'm everything.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: What do you believe in religion?
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: Yes, I do.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: Do you does it work for me the way it does others?
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: No.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: That's why I consider myself more spiritual than religious, not right or wrong.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: That would be like me considering myself a white man, not better or worse.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: It's just me, a guy with blue eyes.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: You know.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: So understand that the human transformation component of the We podcast is not talking about your eternal life.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: It's not.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: It's talking about your today and your tomorrow.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: Just like the woman I just shared.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: She had questions.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: She's in prayer.
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: Prayer for her is when she's in the Bible.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: She's reading in the Bible.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: And then she listens.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: And she got her answers.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: For her, it's not an audio thing.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: For her, it's an internal intuition thing, an internal experience thing.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: But she got the answers she was looking for, which is really great.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: And that's what I want to teach.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: That's what I want to share.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: That's what I can share, is the spiritual awakening that happened for me as the consequence of wanting to heal.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: That's all I ever wanted to do.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: Years ago, when I got struck sober on February the 20th, 1994, I raised my hands and said, God, if I'm not supposed to drink or drug, I need your help.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: I was not a God guy.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: I was a F you God guy, literally.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: And why?
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: Because I grew up in a religion I couldn't connect with.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: And the whole world tried to make me wrong.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: I didn't care what any of them thought.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: I just was had a big personality.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: Well, in that moment, I asked, I felt the Russian energy in the in my a tear in my eye.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: Compulsions removed, literally.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: Memories a couple months later, which then started a seven-year path I call of darkness.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: My modern-day monk, I lived on less than$3,000 a year.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: And I always share that to give context to the how I learned what I'm sharing here today.
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: Ie 1990 is when I learned about the inner child, but I was in the mental side of things with the inner child, and it really, really helped.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: It was in more of the 96, 97, 98 is when I got into the emotional growth component of the inner child work.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: And it was through that emotional growth that things really helped and things really changed.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: And how I was able to change my life and heal and grow.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: And as a consequence of the emotional growth, everything changed.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: For me, the spiritual awakening, it just happened.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: It just did.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: I didn't even know it was happening, to be completely honest with you.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: There were a lot of times where in the beginning, you know, I was so with just myself for so many years with no external relationships or connections that I would go into long phases of sacred silence.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: And I just started remembering stuff.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: A lot of it in the beginning was more in the Native American world.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: And honestly, I would be there in the nights and wonder, I would see this Native American circle and dances and medicine wheels.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: And I didn't know if it was true or false, or I didn't know.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: All I know is that it felt good and it helped me.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: And that's why the We Podcast is I share about the spiritual awakening that happened as the consequence of emotional growth.
- 30:48SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 30:48SPEAKER_01: Because that's what happened for me.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: My experience, strength, and my hope.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: My experience was making it through a lot of very challenging time.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: My strength happened as I learned how to emote emotions, learned how to ask for guidance, learned how to gain a strength from a higher power.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: And my hope on this side is I live a really cool life.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: And I want people to have the same type of understanding of the possibilities.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: The We podcast is about awareness.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: I'm working on getting websites where I can point you to directly.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: I talked about this one website called Divorce Post.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: I'm still trying to get their, you know, actual approval to share more about it, and others I am.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: And because together we're healing, and I want awareness to then have support and then have real places to where you come out the other side on your path, different.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: Whatever your difference is, that's you and your path.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: But I want to make sure you're aware of what's possible because if I can do it, anybody can do it.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: And that's my message.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: If I can, you can.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: And it's real important for me to have people understand when I talk about we, community and connection in a divided world.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: I am not talking about Republican and Democrat and black and white and men, and I'm not talking about the differences of our external experiences.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: I'm not.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: Everybody gets them their own.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: The divided world is you within.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: You're divided away from yourself.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: And for most of you, you already have some type of spiritual understanding that there's something greater.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: For a lot of you, I guarantee therapy is not a brand new concept for you.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: For many of you, you probably could recite the 12 steps better than I could ever.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: Because you're all spiritual warriors.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: And here you're hearing things that you might not have heard other places.
- 33:04SPEAKER_01: I'm mirroring back things that are true for you and not for others.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: And together we're making a difference.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: That's why the We Podcast is becoming a library.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: We designed it specifically as a library.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: So you can go back.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: If you're feeling scared, find a podcast on that.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: If you're feeling stuck, if you're feeling overwhelmed, if you're wanting to pursue a passion, if you're in the middle of healing, if you're in the middle of awakening, if you have a confusion around spirituality and religion, look at the titles.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: If you read the titles throughout the podcast, the library, they'll help.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: And it was designed for that.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: Designed so my voice can keep you company on your darker days, and my voice can also celebrate with you on a day like I'm having today.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: I'm having a great day, and I'm glad I can share it with you.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: So our topic today, not enough.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: What the heck does that mean if you think about it, right?
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: Like, what does it really mean?
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: I'm not enough, or I'm trying to prove myself.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: What is trying to prove myself meaning?
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: What does that look like?
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: Well, proving yourself would be the behavior pattern where your unconscious motivations around any external act is to gain some type of external reflection, somehow, some way.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: You're trying to prove, you're trying to act as if, you're trying to show the world that you are something other than what you really are experiencing inside.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Hence the word proving.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: And that might look like buying the nicest car to prove to people that you're cool.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: That might look like your sales job.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm going to sell a million dollars worth and show everybody how great I am.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: It might look like, you know, your athletics.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: It might look like getting straight A's.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: It might look like whatever it might look like.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: And please understand, folks, I am not any way, shape, or form suggesting that the successful accomplishment of your external world isn't something to be rewarded.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: It's fabulous.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: I want you to be as absolutely successful as you possibly can be.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: I want you to create absolutely as much abundance and gratitude as possible.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: That's wonderful.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: I'm not talking about that.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: I'm talking about the internal motivations around the motivation of the why.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: And why is that important?
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: Because if you've ever been in that place to where, you know, there's some people that can make a million dollars and then they literally believe that it's not enough.
- 35:46SPEAKER_01: I got to make another million.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: It brings back a story.
- 35:49SPEAKER_01: I knew a man, the woman that I first dated when I came out of my silence, the woman that took me into the grocery store for the first time for 10 years.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Her father was this amazing, one of the primary builders here in Atlanta, and way back, 70s and 80s, 90s.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: And he was this massively successful man.
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: And I'll never forget one day we were sitting there and he said to me, He says, Joe, there's success everywhere.
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: You just have to find the success that's worth it for you, that works for you.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: I never forgot that, coming from a multimillionaire, self-made multimillionaire.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: Of course, I listened.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: And we're sitting there talking, and he said, Yeah, we had a down year.
- 36:34SPEAKER_01: I was like, really?
- 36:35SPEAKER_01: And I'm not going to mention his name, but Mr.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: Smith, which is not his name, he says, Yeah, you know, we only built 450 houses and we only developed 1200 lots.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: And now's a down year.
- 36:47SPEAKER_01: I'm just, I just wasn't on it this year.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: I just wasn't working that hard this year.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: And he went on and on and on.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: Now, for him, building 450 mid to big houses and developing dirt trees into subdivision lots of 1200, to him, it wasn't enough.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: And the truth is, it didn't matter how much he ever accomplished in his world, it was never enough.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: And of course, back then I just listened.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: I thought, wow, I'm trying to get a$20 an hour job from you.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: And he did hire me for a little bit.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: This is later, obviously.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: I but as I listened to him, it just didn't feel right.
- 37:31SPEAKER_01: Something was missing.
- 37:33SPEAKER_01: And I didn't really know at the time, but that's it.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: He had a massive not good enough button in him.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: And he was always trying to believe.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: Well, if I would have, and in his world, you know, in that case, if I'd have just built 600 instead of 458, then it would have been enough.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: Never would have.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: If he had built 600, it would have been 650.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: And where does that come from?
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: Like, where does the not good enough, what is the experience we're having?
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: And the experience we're having is a vacancy in our belly.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: It's a vacancy, it's a hole, it's a space inside us that isn't that's vacant, that isn't filled, that there's nothing in it.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: And that's that sense of not good enough.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: And it gets acted out in trying to prove I am good enough.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: So proving that we're good enough is basically the acting out of a not good enough issue.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: And what is not good enough, where does it come from?
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: Well, what happens is when we're little, it always comes back to any vacancy inside us happens because when we were little and we're developing, we're multidimensional beings.
- 38:46SPEAKER_01: We are male, female, not gender specific, and we are multidimensional.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: We have a male aspect of side, a female aspect of side.
- 38:55SPEAKER_01: On the male aspect, we have our mental and our physical.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: On our female side, we have an emotional and our and our spiritual.
- 39:03SPEAKER_01: Well, I say it all the time.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: Most of us were mentally developed.
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: We went to school, we learned three plus three, and then we learned three times three, and then we learned bigger numbers, then we learned calculus, we learned all the capitals, we learned the states, we learned the countries.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: Our mental brain was developed.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: Way back when, before all the craziness and the food and all the processed food and everything, most of us played outside 98% of the time.
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: Child obesity, when I was a kid, didn't even exist.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: You know, the one kid that was overweight, he literally had medical issues.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: So our physical bodies, because we were just naturally outside so much, we took care of our physical body.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: Most of us went to church, and whether you had a belief or you didn't have a belief, you at least knew there was a something.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: Even in the church I grew up in, I didn't believe in the technique of the church, the ritual of the church, but I believed there was a God.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: I was never an atheist, never always believed there was a God.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: So physically, yeah, we're outside playing all the time.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: Mentally, three plus three.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: Spiritually, yeah, I knew there was a God.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: Well, what about this emotional piece?
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: What happened with that part?
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's right.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: Nothing, nothing happened with the emotional part.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Zero, nada.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: Because the consciousness of the day, we weren't consciously aware 50 years ago, in my case, 40 years ago for a lot of you, to emotionally nurture, emotionally support, emotionally give a voice, emotionally teach healthy release of emotion, the consciousness of the day, the era of time.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: I'm talking about an era of time before the positive affirmation concept even existed.
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: It really started, the new thought movement started in the 80s, literally.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying there weren't some people in the 60s and 70s, most were in the 80s.
- 41:09SPEAKER_01: A lot of people on this podcast, if you're anywhere close to me, we grew up in the 60s and 70s.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: I was in high school in the 80s, and then a high schooler is not going to look at and think about positive affirmations.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: We just didn't.
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: So when you have an entire aspect of you, the emotional side of self, the emotional you that was never honored, it was never validated, it was never supported, it was never put first, it was never educated to develop, it just wasn't.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: So, what happens when your emotional sense of self was never developed 50 years ago?
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: The consequence of non-emotional development is void.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: Now, I'm not talking about the ability to emote.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: A lot of you, especially women, have a very keen ability to emote.
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: But a lot of men, if you grew up anything like me, here was the belief.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: Big boys don't cry.
- 42:08SPEAKER_01: Period.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: And if you're a girl, don't you dare get angry, little girl, because you're a bad little girl if you get angry.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: Well, think about it.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: You're nine years old, someone steals your stuff.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: Anger is the natural, God-given reactionary pattern of somebody crossing your boundary.
- 42:25SPEAKER_01: Hear me.
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: The natural God-given reaction of emotion is anger when somebody crosses your boundary.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: That's healthy angry.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: Well, if you live in a world where anger, like in my house, was forbidden, where does that anger go?
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: Doesn't mean you weren't angry, it means you weren't able to express the anger.
- 42:47SPEAKER_01: It was denied, it was suppressed, it was acted as if it wasn't there.
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: Well, all of those unconscious behavior patterns of our childhood causes adults to grow up with an entire aspect of themselves unnurtured, undeveloped, and for most of us unaware.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: That's why I say people all the time, we are multidimensional.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: We are we have four basic emotions mad, glad, sad, and scared, all sorts of other ones, but most of it fits into those categories.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: And we weren't taught how to develop that when we were young.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: So what happens?
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: Well, we just have a void.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: It just ends up we grow up, we go from three to nine to twelve to fifteen to twenty seven to whatever, right?
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: And we get mentally smarter.
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: Hopefully, we're staying physically fit, depending on your path.
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: I have people, I have good friends that are still in the same religion they were when we were kids.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: Now that wasn't my path, but a lot of it.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Was.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: A lot of the spiritual part of life, especially in those middle years from the teens and the 20s, for a lot of people, it's not as important during those times of years.
- 44:12SPEAKER_01: Some it is, but a lot it's not.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: That whole spiritual part typically starts kicking in a little bit later than however you're guided, then you just naturally go and you're guided to do that.
- 44:24SPEAKER_01: But the emotional side is completely invalidated.
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: So what happens?
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: Every emotion and every time you weren't emotionally validated or allowed to emotionally express years ago, it's stuffed inside.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: Well, the stuffing process causes a hurt little kid or a wound inside of us.
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: Unexpressed emotion causes a wound.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: Now, for most of you, your unexpressed emotions aren't life-threatening.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: They're not devastating.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: They're not changing your whole world.
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: They're not paralyzing you.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Some of them they are.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: They did me.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: For most of you, it's not the case.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: But it doesn't mean you don't have a not good enough button.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: Doesn't mean you're not trying to prove things to the world.
- 45:10SPEAKER_01: So how do we fix it?
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Like what do we do?
- 45:13SPEAKER_01: We're going to talk about that in a minute.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: But how do you become aware of this suppressed emotion?
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: How do you become aware of the wound?
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: You listen to the voices.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: Everything starts with listening to the voices.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: And that's why I've had to make amends because I get so passionate about the delusional ridiculousness of trying to change the voice in your head when the source of the voice is not in your head.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: Well, I realize the people that are doing that, the positive affirmations and all the science, and they can now you can you can look at people's brain waves.
- 45:54SPEAKER_01: Well, that's fantastic.
- 45:56SPEAKER_01: I'm not talking about your brain, I'm talking about your heart.
- 45:59SPEAKER_01: I wish somebody would get in there with a mechanism that you could put up to a television screen and look at your wounded little heart, see the flat line of your wounded little kid inside.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: Because it got suppressed emotion.
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: Well, all the suppressed emotion is what causes the voices in your head.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: So when you become aware of, and how do you do that?
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: Those are just kind of spiritual experiences.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: When, you know, like in my opening, when I realized for myself I was pursuing success, I called it success.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: I worked hard.
- 46:35SPEAKER_01: I worked hard in the gym.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: I worked hard in my business.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: Of course, I worked hard in the bar too, drinking.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: I always worked hard finding the next girlfriend so we could say she had our own addictions.
- 46:46SPEAKER_01: I worked hard.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: And I called my work career success.
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: I called my gym physical health.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: I called create searching for a sexual partner.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: I called that love.
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: It was none of those things.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: My business, I was always wanting to create some level of status, some level of look at how important I am.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: Some level of I'm successful because I have money.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: Always.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Did I ever make enough money to feel it?
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: No.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: My world, I worked and worked and worked and worked, but I had an entrepreneurial mind with a blue collar, with a blue-collar belief of work harder, not smarter.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: Go right down, never made, always paid, I lived, never made a whole lot of money until later.
- 47:41SPEAKER_01: In the gym.
- 47:42SPEAKER_01: Look at how healthy I am.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: There was nothing about health.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: It was all about, I want to look big, I want to look attractive.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: I if the bigger I look, the more muscles I have, the more people look at me, the more I feel like the king of the world.
- 47:56SPEAKER_01: And of course, physical attracts physical.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: And if you're pursuing a female partnership to label it love, but in reality, all you were trying to do is satiate addiction, it's easier to do if you had a bigger body, a physical body.
- 48:10SPEAKER_01: And the types of young women that I was attracted to, a lot of them in the gym with me.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: So we called it health, but in reality it was sexual, it was satiation addiction.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: That's what it was.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: Now, did I know any of this at the time?
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: No, never did.
- 48:28SPEAKER_01: Never did.
- 48:29SPEAKER_01: So how did I become aware of it?
- 48:33SPEAKER_01: Over time in therapy, over time in 12 steps, over time, I'd write down my voices.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: I would start seeing the patterns over and over and over.
- 48:43SPEAKER_01: And then eventually, once you see a pattern, whatever the pattern is, and then you're not, you know, in the proving of success, someday you might you'll hear it, you'll feel it, you'll sense it when you're trying to prove.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: Like, let's say you buy a brand new car and you spend a lot of money on it, you work your backside off of that car, and your neighbor doesn't give two flying flips about your new car or your sister or your family members or your wife is mad because you spent too much.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: Here you are, proud as a peacock because you bought a brand new car, and you're wanting people to acknowledge the beauty of the car.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: And when they don't, when others don't give you the acknowledgement you wish they did, that's when you're going to hear your voices.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: Could be when you're working really hard at a job and you get passed over.
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: Your boss doesn't see your performance like you do.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: When you're sitting there and you're at a bar or you're at the gym or you see somebody of the opposite sex and you're attracted to them, and you walk up and you want to impress them, and they're not impressed.
- 49:55SPEAKER_01: Basically, you'll become consciously aware of your reactionary voices when you're pursuing something in an action step of your external world with the ultimate intention or desire to get something from the outside world: acknowledgement, support, celebration, favorable something.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: When you don't get it, listen to the voices and you'll hear it.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: Typically, what you're going to hear in the first is my neighbor of mine's an idiot, anyways.
- 50:29SPEAKER_01: What the heck does he know about cars?
- 50:30SPEAKER_01: He's a loser, he's a this, he's a that.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: Anytime you have voices in your head that have the name of somebody else in your sentences, that's a first-step voice.
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: Hear what I said.
- 50:43SPEAKER_01: Those are shaming voices, guilting voices.
- 50:48SPEAKER_01: When you hear yourself making someone else wrong because they didn't give you something you wanted, in this case, the car and the accolades, those are your shame-based, guilt-based voices.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: Well, what do we do with them?
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: We write them down.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: He's a loser.
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: He knows nothing about cars.
- 51:07SPEAKER_01: He doesn't, he wouldn't know a good car if he wanted it.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: He's jealous.
- 51:11SPEAKER_01: He's this, he's that.
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: If I'm somewhere, if I'm trying to meet a woman and she rejects me, and I would say, Well, she's stupid.
- 51:19SPEAKER_01: She doesn't know what the heck she's talking about.
- 51:21SPEAKER_01: I'm better than her, anyways.
- 51:23SPEAKER_01: Or she's too good for me.
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: Whatever the voices are, write them down.
- 51:27SPEAKER_01: And you write them down because it's those big voices that are covering the angst in your belly.
- 51:34SPEAKER_01: Because what happened?
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: You buy a car all excited, and you want people to appreciate you.
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: And when they don't, the voices say the guy's the loser.
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: But why are the voices big?
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: Because your belly, there's a tweak in your belly, there's a hurt in your stomach, there's a hurt in your heart.
- 51:53SPEAKER_01: And it's that hurt in your belly that gets covered up by the voices.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: So when we write down the voices instead of acting out the voices, eventually we get to the tweak in the belly.
- 52:08SPEAKER_01: So the whole how do we heal the underlying reason we're trying to prove to the world?
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: We have to find the part of us who doesn't feel good enough.
- 52:21SPEAKER_01: Proving to the world is the acting out of not good enough.
- 52:25SPEAKER_01: Well, what is not good enough?
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: Not good enough is an inner aspect of self who did not get the emotional needs they needed in the era of time they needed them for most of us in preteens.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: Well, if we don't get the emotional support, the emotional acknowledgement, the emotional celebration, the accolades for little girls, the I'm you're beautiful, for little boys, I'm proud of you.
- 52:54SPEAKER_01: If the if as a child you didn't get the external accolades which were natural and normally needed for a little kid by an adult, by an authority figure, if you didn't get it, then instead of saying there's something wrong with our parents, they didn't give me the emotional needs I needed, we take on a belief we're not good enough.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: That's where the belief comes from.
- 53:19SPEAKER_01: And what is that belief covering up?
- 53:21SPEAKER_01: It's covering up a hurt because every little kid wants to be acknowledged.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: Every little kid wants to feel loved.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: Every little kid wants to hear that they are wonderful and they're proud and they're beautiful, and you're proud of them, and you're happy they're their kids.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: Some of the way that's acted out, let's say, so very many techniques of parenting is they believe it's motivating, where they celebrate the A and they make the B less than.
- 53:53SPEAKER_01: You get five A's and one B in the conversation is well, why didn't you get an A in that class, son?
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: That type of stuff.
- 54:01SPEAKER_01: And the other thing that ends up being instead of celebration of the action steps taken for the four months you're doing tests and quizzes and homework and whatever, and you're putting effort in, the only thing that gives praise is the end result.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: That right there creates a not good enough button in that human being, however old that little kid is.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 54:28SPEAKER_01: Because as a child, as a youngster, you need those types of acknowledgement, those types of encouragement, those types of celebrations from an external source.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: Because as a youth, you don't have that availability.
- 54:43SPEAKER_01: You don't have a personal self-adult yet because you're a child, chronologically a child.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: So as a chronological child, youngster, you need that initial praise from the outside.
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: When we don't get it, then we grow up, we become an actual adult, and the part that never got it as a child starts pursuing adult behavior patterns to still try to get it from the outside world.
- 55:13SPEAKER_01: It would be no different.
- 55:14SPEAKER_01: I remember I was 11 years old.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: I hit a home run.
- 55:17SPEAKER_01: My dad basically talked to me about don't run around the bases.
- 55:21SPEAKER_01: He was never at a baseball game.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: He came one time in black suit.
- 55:26SPEAKER_01: I was mortified, excited my dad was there, but mortified.
- 55:30SPEAKER_01: He knew nothing about baseball, traditional Italian.
- 55:34SPEAKER_01: And when I finally got that first home run, all I wanted him to do was say, Wow, Joe, great job.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: Man, that's wonderful.
- 55:40SPEAKER_01: What he said, make sure you run fast around the bases.
- 55:43SPEAKER_01: He didn't even know where first base was.
- 55:46SPEAKER_01: That's how my dad wasn't around.
- 55:48SPEAKER_01: I'm still kind of pissed off about it now.
- 55:50SPEAKER_01: Can you tell my voice?
- 55:51SPEAKER_01: Well, so think about me as 11.
- 55:54SPEAKER_01: I wanted accolades.
- 55:56SPEAKER_01: I wanted support.
- 55:56SPEAKER_01: I wanted him to say I was proud of you.
- 55:58SPEAKER_01: What did I get?
- 56:00SPEAKER_01: Correction.
- 56:01SPEAKER_01: Was he doing that on purpose?
- 56:02SPEAKER_01: No, of course not.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: He just didn't know any better.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: He didn't know.
- 56:06SPEAKER_01: That means it didn't hurt.
- 56:07SPEAKER_01: It hurt a lot.
- 56:08SPEAKER_01: It did.
- 56:09SPEAKER_01: That's an important story for me because when I first started my inner child work back in the 90s, my 11-year-old, little baseball player, was the first age that came to me.
- 56:20SPEAKER_01: Truly was.
- 56:22SPEAKER_01: And over time, I acknowledged that part.
- 56:24SPEAKER_01: Over time, I let that part talk.
- 56:27SPEAKER_01: Why didn't he celebrate my home run?
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: My little kid saying, All I wanted him to do was say I did a good job.
- 56:34SPEAKER_01: I just wanted a good job.
- 56:36SPEAKER_01: That's all that, you know, that's what I wanted.
- 56:38SPEAKER_01: Now I'm 35, but the 11-year-old in me still needed that.
- 56:44SPEAKER_01: That's suppressed.
- 56:45SPEAKER_01: And since he didn't get it, that's wound.
- 56:48SPEAKER_01: Then we act out the wound in our adult life.
- 56:51SPEAKER_01: Another way that we act it out, especially as kids, is we find a behavior pattern we can do to get complimentary accolades, whatever it is.
- 57:02SPEAKER_01: You can, you know, if you find out that if you make your bed and you make your bed and you go rush to mommy and say, Mommy, mommy, mommy, I made my bed.
- 57:12SPEAKER_01: And she then says, Oh, good job, or thanks for doing that, or whatever.
- 57:17SPEAKER_01: That creates an energetic expression, especially if mom doesn't give you accolades except when you accomplish something.
- 57:27SPEAKER_01: That whole concept right there, it's called do to get, literally.
- 57:32SPEAKER_01: You create a belief system that says I have to do something to get, and in this case, emotional accolades.
- 57:40SPEAKER_01: Well, that is that creates a conditional place of support, a conditional place of love, not unconditional.
- 57:49SPEAKER_01: So literally, we take that same pattern from youth to teenage to college, and you know, in teenage, you could take that same thing and work hard just to get the accolades of a grade.
- 58:04SPEAKER_01: And you're needing it every day.
- 58:07SPEAKER_01: You're needing it on your good days, on your bad days, on your happy days, on your sad days.
- 58:12SPEAKER_01: Emotionally, we need that.
- 58:15SPEAKER_01: But we'll take the crumbs.
- 58:17SPEAKER_01: If we come home with an A, at least we get the accolades.
- 58:21SPEAKER_01: And then so it looks, it's looked like in society, look at this.
- 58:25SPEAKER_01: This is so great.
- 58:26SPEAKER_01: She worked hard to be celebrated.
- 58:29SPEAKER_01: Yes, it is great.
- 58:30SPEAKER_01: But what about the other 98% of the behavior pattern she does on a daily basis that gets nothing, that gets no acknowledgement, that gets no support?
- 58:39SPEAKER_01: Most of us live there.
- 58:41SPEAKER_01: Not because they were trying to hurt, they just didn't know any better.
- 58:45SPEAKER_01: Well, as you hear the reaction of voices in your head about somebody else, write them down, tell somebody, and then listen to the little kid voice, the inner you voice.
- 59:00SPEAKER_01: And as you start identifying and moving past the voices in your head and embracing the deeper part of you, folks, we are in an era of time where we as a humanity are waking up.
- 59:17SPEAKER_01: More and more, the veil is getting thinner and thinner and thinner between you, the human sitting here listening to me, and a higher power you.
- 59:27SPEAKER_01: You have the availability to communicate, to speak with and listen to, and be guided by a power greater than yourself.
- 59:36SPEAKER_01: It's a really good thing.
- 59:37SPEAKER_01: I remember when that first happened to me, I said, Do I want to be guided by the part of me that has created a complete train wreck of a life?
- 59:45SPEAKER_01: Or do I want to be guided by the part that has created all eternity, that's created the stars, that's created the fish, that's created the earth?
- 59:55SPEAKER_01: God.
- 59:56SPEAKER_01: Now I hesitated at first, but eventually I said, Yeah, I want to be guided by God.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: And that higher essence of us that's in us, created in God's image, that part which is in us, we have the availability more and more to literally ask and within relatively short periods of time listen and be guided.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: That same capacity that we have to do that with a higher sense of self, you also have that same capacity to do it with your inner self, the emotional side of you.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_01: You are a multi-dimensional being.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_01: And on the feminine side of you, the spiritual essence of you lives and the emotional essence of you lives.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_01: And why do we want to connect with that emotional essence?
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_01: Well, the one word we would call God or higher power or Jesus or divinity, what would the word be?
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_01: It would be called love.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_01: Well, love is an emotion.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_01: So you have the conscious capacity to communicate ebb and flow communication in you deeper and deeper and deeper into different aspects of you in the emotional side of you.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_01: That's where the dual hand journaling comes in.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_01: Well, as we hear the crazy voices and we don't act out on them, we tell we write them down and tell them to somebody else so they calm a little bit.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_01: You're gonna hear the voice of an inner child, you're gonna hear the voice of an inner you.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: And that's where the dual hand journaling comes in.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_01: And when you take, when you bring your conscious awareness inside, and you have some sacred silence, you and the same part of you that watches the football game over the weekend, the same part of you that eats dinner, the same part of you that cooks dinner, the same part of you that takes care of your kids, that conscious awareness part of you that lives in your external world all the time, we slow it down and bring it inside, consciously inside.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: And listen in here, for me, I saw my little kid.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: As I saw that part, I started asking the questions.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_01: My book, Filling the Void, joemitica.com, please go get it.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_01: Let it be my gift to you and give it to everybody you know.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_01: I have exercises about this.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_01: And why is it so important?
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_01: Because that's all I did for seven years.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_01: That's it, nothing more.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: And as a consequence of that deeper emotional part healing and feeling better, the more I became a loving adult and gave the acknowledgement, the celebration, the awareness, the time to the little boy in me, which I did not get from my parents.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_01: I gave it to myself over time.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_01: That part of me that for 30 plus years was void, dead, null, a nothingness, full of rage, full of anger, that part softened.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_01: And over time, we literally have the availability, the conscious emotional availability to nurture that part through awareness and through communication.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_01: And that part's gonna grieve some.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_01: It will.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_01: That part's gonna get some anger out.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_01: Remember, remember, fellas, five minutes, five minutes a week, a bat, wiffle ball bat, and pictures of people you don't like, healthy anger, get it out in a healthy way.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_01: Well, as we do that technique inside, that part of us that used to be void starts feeling acknowledged.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: That part of us that used to feel closed down starts to open up.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: That part of us that used to feel like it wasn't good enough because no one was paying attention starts feeling important because you're giving that part attention.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_01: And how does that take?
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_01: Start five minutes a day, folks.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_01: That's where I would write down.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_01: I put on note sticky notes, ask my little kid.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_01: I would write on sticky notes to remember to look inside, to remember to ask my inner child, how are you doing?
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_01: How are you feeling?
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_01: What's going on?
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_01: You know, in my world, it's all I did.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_01: I did it a lot and it worked.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_01: And what is not enough?
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_01: Why do we need to prove ourselves?
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_01: We need to prove ourselves to others because trying to get accolades, accolades to do what?
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_01: Fill the vacancy.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_01: What's the vacancy?
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_01: A not enough.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_01: Where's that come from?
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_01: A little kid in you that never got the attention and the awareness it needed.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_01: Well, we're giving that little kid that now.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: We're giving the inner child the time, the space, the awareness.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_01: And over time, just like anything, give something time, awareness, and love, it nurtures, it heals.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_01: And the the consequence of these parts healing is the vacancy that causes not good enough, which is the motivation of needing to prove that vacancy heals from the inside out.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_01: And when that happens, you don't need to prove anything anymore.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_01: Because you don't have the angst anymore.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_01: You buy a new car, you're not looking around people to acknowledge it.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_01: If they do, great.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_01: If they don't, great.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_01: Doesn't matter.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_01: Because your internal world isn't needing anything from your outside world because you're not empty and tweaked.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_01: Now, from a spiritual perspective, this whole idea, and this is where why I wanted to make that whole comment in the beginning.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_01: I'm not talking about eternal life, I'm talking about today's life right now.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_01: And there are a lot of different types of organizations out there that say do it a particular way or burn in hell.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_01: Now, if I was a cusser, I'd I would go in right now.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_01: I would.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_01: And I know if I went up to some professional preachers and all of that, they would have 47, probably 447 beliefs.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_01: Systems that say that's a real op thing.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_01: Well, that's good.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_01: Not telling you what to believe.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_01: Do I believe it?
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_01: No, I don't.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_01: Do I believe that that to me, do it a particular way or burn in hell means that the ultimate decision maker of come into the kingdom or burn in hell has multiple capacities.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_01: And I don't believe that.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_01: I believe the God of my understanding, and I'm just talking for Joe.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_01: The God of my understanding only has one capacity, and it's called love.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_01: And God's love is not an adjective, God's love is a state of being.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_01: And why do I say that?
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_01: Because if it was an adjective, then that means it could come and it could go.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_01: Adjectives are action steps.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_01: God's love is not action.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_01: God's love is a state of being, it's an essence.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_01: It is what it is.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_01: Period.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_01: Joe's belief.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_01: And so this whole idea from a spiritual perspective of not enough, there is a whole culture of people out there that lived their entire life trying to create the earn the right for God to love.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_01: There's even religions out there that say, well, you know, you are now loved because a particular man took all your sins.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_01: Well, again, I'd start cussing.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_01: For me, the God of my understanding doesn't care if I've sinned or I didn't sin.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_01: Loves me, anyways.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_01: The God of my understanding doesn't have the capacity to do anything but love.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_01: It would be like asking a fish does a fish have to earn being wet?
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_01: No, a fish is wet.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_01: Well, from a position of Joe's understanding of a God, a power greater than myself, there's only one experience: universal allness, infinite allness.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_01: Now that's just me.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_01: Now I get it.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_01: Other people literally live in the delusional belief system that says God isn't just love.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_01: He's other things too, because punishment is part of the is part of the equation.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_01: Now I know, I get it.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_01: I've been in the same pews, and people can justify that behavior all they want.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_01: I'm going to share something here in a minute where I think is living live real life proof, that whole concept of punishment because of unconsciousness is a human interpretation, not a spiritual belief system, a human interpretation.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_01: And I'm not judging anybody as right or wrong.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_01: I'm not.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_01: But 99.999999, 99999% of most cultured belief systems out there in the traditional sense, everything taught to today's generation was taught by yesterday's generation, which was taught by the generation before that, which was taught by the generation before that.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_01: And the whole idea of having a new thought or a different perspective or a different viewpoint is matched with pushed back against you're a sinner and you're burning in hell.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_01: Well, no, you're an independent thinker and you get to be inspired however you want.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_01: And I personally believe that's why there's a whole plethora.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_01: I saw a stat one time.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_01: 67% of people consider themselves more spiritual than religious.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_01: Because humanity is waking up, waking up to what?
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_01: Conscious awareness that the essence of our spiritual nature is inside of us.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_01: Folks, you are a spiritual being having a human experience, not the other way around.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_01: Spiritual being having a human experience, not the other way around.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_01: And how do I know that spiritual being is in us?
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_01: One of the last things Jesus said, the whole we podcast was based on the we, human self, higher self, inner self, was based on one of the last things paraphrasing that Jesus said before he ascended.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_01: As the disciples are kind of freaking out, like, dude, where are you going?
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_01: This is a crazy place.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_01: They're going to kill us.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_01: Jesus says, I have to go sit by my father, so my father can place the same spirit that guided me in all of you.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_01: And that's the spirit I'm talking about.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_01: Now, what's your belief system is about eternity?
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_01: That's between you, your family, and your culture.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_01: No opinion.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_01: I know what I teach my boys.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_01: I'm not telling you a belief system about your eternity.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know anything about that.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_01: I am telling you that the man that all time was created around, you know the concept BC before Christ, A D after death, today, September 22nd, 2026, is because of one man's death.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_01: Said, look it up, ask Chat, I have to go sit by my father so he can put the same spirit that guided me in, I am in all of you.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_01: That spirit in all of us is what Joe calls divinity.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_01: That spirit that's in all of us is what we as a humanity are waking up to more and more and more.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_01: That spirit that is in all of us, we have the availability to communicate with by asking and then listening.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_01: Now, the answers for people are going to come different.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_01: Some are going to be verbal, some are going to be feeling, some are going to be visual.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_01: Like my friend, she had intuition.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_01: I don't know how you're going to receive your answers, but if you sit and listen and allow, you will.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_01: And why do we have to ask?
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_01: Because the state of asking is a state of humility.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_01: And humility and fear are opposite ends of the spectrum.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_01: When we're in fear, we're living in the place of the me.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_01: When we're in humility, we're living in the place of the we.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_01: So in that state of humility, of asking, strength and courage if you're in pain, guidance if you're in confusion, grace if you're in celebration, right?
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_01: Wherever you are.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_01: If you start getting into that practice of asking and then listening, your technique of listening is why I want you to do the five minutes of silence.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm doing five or six hours a day.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_01: It's how I got 44,000-piece puzzle done.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_01: I started August the 5th, the day my dog was passed away.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_01: Today's the 21st.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_01: That's a bunch of puzzle.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_01: It's four and a half feet wide by over three feet.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_01: It's a big puzzle, four thousand pieces, one of ten.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_01: How do you get a 40,000-piece puzzle done?
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_01: One day at a time, one piece at a time, consistency over time.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_01: And that's how we do all of it.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_01: Well, when we're practicing that place of silence, you're going to hear those voices more.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_01: And if you ask for something in your world for clarity and you get in the practice of asking, you'll also get in the practice of receiving.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_01: How do I know?
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_01: Created in God's image.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_01: So the spiritual essence of you already is perfectly enough.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_01: Knowing you're enough and feeling you're enough are totally different things.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_01: The feeling part of the enough is in the human side of your emotional capacities, your emotional sense of being.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_01: And the way you heal that, we talked about earlier.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_01: Listen to the voices, journal with your little kid, give that inner part of you the same amount of time that you give outer part of you.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_01: I for seven years gave my inner world 99% of my time and my outer world almost no time.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_01: That's why I was seven years, called a modern day monk.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_01: I don't expect anybody to do that.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_01: What the heck?
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_01: Everybody's doing a lot faster than me, anyways.
- 1:14:36SPEAKER_01: But how much time have you spent in communion with your inner self?
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_01: It's part of what I'm going to start asking.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_01: In the silence, you're listening for your higher self, asking for how your emotional self is doing is also a practice that starts the healing.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_01: Because the more time you spend consciously, it's just like anything you spend consciously external, you get really good at it.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_01: If you're a runner, you spend time running if you work puzzles.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_01: If you're a reader, you get good at reading.
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_01: Whatever you put your time and energy and your awareness to, you get better at.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm suggesting that you start putting 15 minutes a day of your awareness to your emotional sense of self.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_01: And from a spiritual side, how do we develop the understanding spiritually that we're already enough?
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_01: We're going to talk about that in a second.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_01: Back to this whole idea of earning God's love.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_01: That's a true belief system that a lot of people have.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_01: And I remember I heard somewhere the term father endearment, an endeared being.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_01: And so I started calling the God of my understanding father.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_01: And then one day I realized that if God is my father, just like I'm the father of two boys, Joseph and Ryan, as their dad, as their father, I only want good for my kids.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_01: And that's when I realized that God only wants good for us.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_01: Does that mean we're not going to go through stuff?
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_01: But God isn't the reason we go through stuff.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_01: We are the reason we go through stuff.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_01: Our hurt is the reason we go through stuff.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_01: And it's not the hurt that causes the stuff, it's the voices created because of the hurt that causes the external stuff.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_01: It has nothing to do with God.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_01: Nothing.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_01: If your world is crappy and you don't like it, nothing to do with God.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_01: Now God will give you the strength and courage to walk out.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_01: God will give you the strength and courage to heal.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_01: God will give you everything you need to be able to change your internal world so your external world can mirror and match.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_01: I'm doing it now on a very different level.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_01: Literally, I really am.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_01: And this whole concept of punishment and perfect, and if I'm perfect then, to me, people have extrapolated how they were raised as a human child and have that same belief system from a spiritual perspective of a God of their understanding, literally.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_01: You know, as a kid, if you have to do to get, if you had to get that A, the only way mom was acknowledge, then we do that same type of belief system.
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_01: If we're really good, then God loves us.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_01: As if we're a sinner, God doesn't love us.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_01: No, God loves us all the same.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_01: Now that doesn't mean we don't live in misery if we're crazy.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_01: We can create our own misery.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_01: And how do I know that?
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_01: How do I really firmly believe this whole hell concept isn't really a thing?
- 1:17:49SPEAKER_01: Do you know this whole ADBC thing, right?
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_01: One of the most spiritual people that ever lived, Jesus, was crucified on a cross.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_01: And if you don't know what crucifixion is, basically they put nails through his wrists, not through his hands.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_01: That is a fallacy.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_01: It was through his wrists.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_01: And why do I say that?
- 1:18:08SPEAKER_01: Because if it was through the hand, his body weight would just tear the skin and the nail would have come out.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_01: If you put it through the wrist, the way the bones are, there's a place between the wrists, and they did it hot so it didn't he didn't bleed to death.
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_01: So he's hanging there by basically his wrists, naked, zero close, with thorns on his head.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_01: Well, you know what happened?
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_01: He's a strong dude.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_01: If you don't know what crucifixion is, crucifixion basically what happens is eventually you lose, you can't breathe because you're expanded up, your hands are above your head, so you suffocate.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_01: Well, Jesus was a strong man, and even though they nailed his feet, every time he needed to breathe, he could pull himself up.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_01: Eventually, they broke his legs, but before they did that, it's getting close to dinner time.
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_01: You've seen the cuts on his side, right?
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_01: Well, it's dinner time, they're ready to go.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_01: This guy's waiting, waiting too long.
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_01: The soldiers.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_01: So there's two guys with knives, a long knife and a little knife.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_01: You know what they're doing?
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_01: They're cutting him open, they're cutting his sides.
- 1:19:11SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_01: They wanted him to die faster, it'd been too long.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_01: I'm paraphrasing, of course, right?
- 1:19:17SPEAKER_01: So, what did Jesus say?
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_01: Now, wouldn't you think if the whole concept of hell, straight to frickin' hell, was a real thing?
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_01: That those two men, the one with the long knife and the one with the short knife, who's cutting open a man who's completely powerless, don't you think they would be the first ones to go?
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_01: I would.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't want to be one of those two guys.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_01: But what did Jesus say?
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_01: Father, please forgive them, for they know not what they do.
- 1:19:51SPEAKER_01: Father, please forgive them for they know not what they do.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_01: So if the whole hell concept was a real life thing and not human interpretation thing, I believe the human interpretation that people believe it.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_01: Fine.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_01: If you believe it, I'm not trying to change your mind.
- 1:20:11SPEAKER_01: But from a spiritual perspective, wouldn't you think that the men that were cutting this man who is powerless, wouldn't you think he would be the first one to say, hey God, see these guys, Father?
- 1:20:23SPEAKER_01: Send them first.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_01: These two, the guy with that long knife first, and then the guy with the short knife second.
- 1:20:28SPEAKER_01: Don't you think if that concept existed, those two men, Jesus who knows everything, would be sending them there?
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_01: He didn't.
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_01: God, please forgive them for they know what they do, not they do.
- 1:20:39SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 1:20:39SPEAKER_01: Because Jesus was a state of God and they only know love.
- 1:20:43SPEAKER_01: Love is not an action step for them.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_01: Love is a state of being for them, it's a state of presence.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_01: So as we as human beings are embracing the emotional side of ourselves, the inner child, to feel enough, one of the ways you can build that sense of being enough, that sense of being feeling good, and that owning and honoring your enough is learn how to act from, live from your divine presence.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_01: And how do you do that?
- 1:21:16SPEAKER_01: You ask.
- 1:21:17SPEAKER_01: Anytime you are in a state of giving, you're in a state of your divinity.
- 1:21:24SPEAKER_01: In our human world, we're out there living, we're acting, we're performing, we're creating, and we're creating a sense of gratitude, which is wonderful.
- 1:21:33SPEAKER_01: Gratitude is a great thing.
- 1:21:35SPEAKER_01: But gratitude is a human experience.
- 1:21:37SPEAKER_01: A state of grace is a divine experience.
- 1:21:41SPEAKER_01: Gratitude happens when you give out into the world and you receive back.
- 1:21:45SPEAKER_01: Beautiful.
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_01: For all the things that you're grateful for, it's wonderful human experience.
- 1:21:50SPEAKER_01: Divinity, though, is a state, the act of giving back from your overflow position connects you literally with the divine part of you.
- 1:22:02SPEAKER_01: And it's in that divine part of yourself that you literally, the more you do it, the more you feel it, the more you feel it, the more you do it.
- 1:22:10SPEAKER_01: And then the feeling goes more from an emotional sense of wow, I feel I love this, to a state of being.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_01: And in that state of being, in that state of giving back, in that state where we're literally living in communion with a power greater than ourselves, in that state, we literally can start experiencing our oneness in a way that we never could.
- 1:22:36SPEAKER_01: As we're learning how to give back to the world in that way, another very, very important ad to your daily basis and the how to heal the need for external approval is do a tenth step on the daily basis.
- 1:22:56SPEAKER_01: This is a change of habit.
- 1:22:58SPEAKER_01: This is a change of pattern.
- 1:22:59SPEAKER_01: This is an add to behavior.
- 1:23:01SPEAKER_01: And what a tenth step says in the program is you look around and is there anybody you crossed their boundaries?
- 1:23:07SPEAKER_01: And if you did, consciously or unconsciously, owe an amends.
- 1:23:10SPEAKER_01: I did that three weeks ago.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_01: I didn't even know what it was.
- 1:23:12SPEAKER_01: I owed an amends, I gave the amends.
- 1:23:14SPEAKER_01: But the rest of it is on a daily basis, is you look at the and acknowledge the favorable contribution you put into the world today, whatever it is, and bring conscious awareness to that.
- 1:23:29SPEAKER_01: If you held the door for somebody, if you waved when you were driving, if you said thank you to somebody, if you gave an extra tip, if you were went out of your way to help somebody, if you were kind even though you wanted to be angry, if you were patient even though you were frustrated, if you were, if you held your words even though you wanted to yell, anything you personally did that as a little kid you'd want your parents to celebrate, it's time to do that same action step to yourself on a daily basis.
- 1:24:06SPEAKER_01: The more you take that self-loving acknowledgement action step for you with you, the less you'll need the praise from anybody else.
- 1:24:19SPEAKER_01: The less you'll compare yourself to anybody else, the less you'll need the external world's acknowledgement for you to have internal sense of peace.
- 1:24:33SPEAKER_01: So we heal the little kid by listening to the voices and we dual hand journal, which we heal emotionally, the vacancy which causes the not good enough.
- 1:24:43SPEAKER_01: And the not good enough is the motivation of needing to prove.
- 1:24:48SPEAKER_01: If you don't have the wound of not good enough, the need to prove out in the world, it just transcends into something else.
- 1:24:57SPEAKER_01: To spiritually commune, to have conscious communion with a power greater than yourself, you ask, dear God, I say, dear God, guide me, divinity guide me.
- 1:25:10SPEAKER_01: What am I supposed to do?
- 1:25:11SPEAKER_01: How can I give back?
- 1:25:12SPEAKER_01: It doesn't have to be massive, it could be an extra$10 somewhere.
- 1:25:16SPEAKER_01: But every time you give back from a conscious position, you're in communion with the higher sense of yourself.
- 1:25:24SPEAKER_01: And grace will eventually be that experience.
- 1:25:27SPEAKER_01: And as you're living from a position of flow and then overflow, you add to your day-to-day behavior a five-minute self-acknowledgement, a self-appreciation, a self-applaud behavior, and you watch how your world changes.
- 1:25:48SPEAKER_01: You watch how much freedom you feel from the outside world.
- 1:25:54SPEAKER_01: And that freedom is called autonomy.
- 1:25:56SPEAKER_01: And autonomy is a position of awness, where you become your own source, you become your own emotional support, and you become your own thinker.
- 1:26:09SPEAKER_01: You feel and move in a position where you're guided by the power greater than you, and then you take that out into the world.
- 1:26:16SPEAKER_01: And I promise you, the more autonomous you become because of these self-loving behaviors, the reward is you have 10 times more energetic love and more energetic overflow to give the world around you.
- 1:26:33SPEAKER_01: The more you heal the little kid, the more you commune with a power greater than yourself, the more you give yourself accolades and acknowledgement and praise, the more autonomous you live.
