In June 1990, former racing champion and performance-car businessman Nick Whiting was kidnapped at gunpoint from his garage in Kent. Bound, gagged and thrown into the boot of a stolen car, he vanished along with five of his high-end vehicles. Twenty-five days later his body was discovered in a shallow grave on Rainham Marshes — beaten, tortured, stabbed nine times and shot twice in the head.
