- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with i R Radio. Hello and welcome to another podcast
- 0:08Speaker 1: live from Tahoe. We are here things to Hundai. Um
- 0:13Speaker 1: we're hanging out a whole bunch of us BOUSHL people
- 0:15Speaker 1: together and like Tahoe for the first time in like
- 0:17Speaker 1: two and a half years, at our producer, um, Amy
- 0:21Speaker 1: Sugarman's humble abode. Pretty much. I'm not really at Amy's house,
- 0:25Speaker 1: but you know what, we're around her house. This is
- 0:28Speaker 1: this is why we come to tile because this is
- 0:30Speaker 1: where Amy's from. UM. So, guys, we're all we're talking
- 0:33Speaker 1: about evolving your journey because that is what Hyundai stands for.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Let's go around and talk about like not not we
- 0:42Speaker 1: won't do it? Ben way, Ben, Ben will do Ben Way?
- 0:44Speaker 1: Okay Ben Ben? Oh, by the way, guys, Ben at
- 0:47Speaker 1: the top of a mountain right now. Hester ended at
- 0:51Speaker 1: the top of a mountain. We took a tram all
- 0:53Speaker 1: the way up. I've never been on anything like that
- 0:56Speaker 1: as far as like going skiing, because I've only gone
- 0:58Speaker 1: skiing once on Batchtor Winter Games. You die hards out there,
- 1:01Speaker 1: you know how it went. I never attempted afterwards. Uh,
- 1:04Speaker 1: and that hill wasn't very high, we would have this
- 1:06Speaker 1: huge tram today y'all here, Okay, wait hold, I'll tell
- 1:10Speaker 1: you who I'm with here. This is super casual and
- 1:12Speaker 1: with Analy's Kaylin Jason Tartek. He's joining me for my
- 1:17Speaker 1: first almost his podcast of this week. We have Ryan
- 1:20Speaker 1: Sutter who's also joining me for my first podcast this week,
- 1:23Speaker 1: and trist To Sutter. So we're all hanging out, you guys.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Um is that a normal like tram experience for those
- 1:29Speaker 1: skiers here or was that like the highest thing ever?
- 1:32Speaker 1: Where we a mile high, where we a mile higher
- 1:34Speaker 1: than we already are, which I think like Taho already
- 1:36Speaker 1: is like a mile high. So I will say, when
- 1:38Speaker 1: you guys were talking about the altitude, so in the tram,
- 1:41Speaker 1: there was conversation about how high we were, and I
- 1:44Speaker 1: think they came up with fet something like that. Right,
- 1:47Speaker 1: we actually live at feet so it's it's really high.
- 1:53Speaker 1: It's gorgeous, but but it's not I mean, in terms
- 1:56Speaker 1: of altitude, it's not abnormal for surprising. I think about
- 2:00Speaker 1: the whole tram experiences that you talked about. Ben Ben
- 2:03Speaker 1: missed the tram because we were fet there and somehow
- 2:07Speaker 1: he found a museum and a documentary, and he's plugged
- 2:11Speaker 1: in in a museum reading or listening to some documentary.
- 2:14Speaker 1: When we left, he's like one of our friends that
- 2:17Speaker 1: stayed right, And I guess we left without even realizing
- 2:20Speaker 1: that he was gone. I think we realized he was gone.
- 2:23Speaker 1: There were some people who realized we I had to
- 2:25Speaker 1: text Ryan because he and Max were off looking for
- 2:28Speaker 1: the lake that they went hiking to today. Um, and
- 2:31Speaker 1: he came running up like I gotta get there. But
- 2:34Speaker 1: Ben obviously didn't have it on his radar to get
- 2:36Speaker 1: here on time. Okay, Well, going back to evolving our
- 2:40Speaker 1: journey with Hyundai, Well I would say that I evolved
- 2:44Speaker 1: my journey today by going up there that high and
- 2:46Speaker 1: going on something like that. Right, it was my adventure
- 2:48Speaker 1: for the day. But I said Ben can do his
- 2:50Speaker 1: like serious. Um, No, let's not get serious in this podcast.
- 2:53Speaker 1: It's just a fun podcast because when Ben says of
- 2:55Speaker 1: all your journey, he gets serious, you know, and I
- 2:58Speaker 1: get like, let's talk about tramps. Um. But Analyiz has
- 3:05Speaker 1: a fun of all of your journey story that she
- 3:07Speaker 1: was just about to tell. But I was like, no,
- 3:09Speaker 1: no, no no, wait until the mic is hot. Okay, Analyze's mom.
- 3:14Speaker 1: She goes to Burning Man, So, like, does this ruboff
- 3:17Speaker 1: on you? Is this like a teaching style for her?
- 3:19Speaker 1: Do you ever go to Burning Man with her? What
- 3:20Speaker 1: kind of like activities is she partaken there? Because I
- 3:24Speaker 1: hear crazy things? Please, Yeah, we have a very so
- 3:27Speaker 1: so I'll start from I have I've wanted to go.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm from California, from northern California, from Sanrancis. She's like,
- 3:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna I mean a little hippie ish, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: I can, I can go that way, but but I've
- 3:42Speaker 1: always sort of had an interest in it, and I
- 3:44Speaker 1: have a ton of friends that go. And I had
- 3:46Speaker 1: done a six months solo trip through Europe and then
- 3:48Speaker 1: I was like I came back and I was like,
- 3:50Speaker 1: you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna end this like
- 3:53Speaker 1: journey with going to Burning Man. So I told my mom,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna go to Burning Man. This was before doing
- 3:58Speaker 1: the Bachelor. Um, so many journeys, many journeys. Uh so yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 1: So that was a lot of evolving. That whole period
- 4:07Speaker 1: of time was like a big evolution for me, doing
- 4:11Speaker 1: a six months solo trip and then Burning Man. But
- 4:13Speaker 1: I tell my mom and like, I'm gonna go to
- 4:14Speaker 1: Burning Man and she goes, oh, yeah, I've always wanted
- 4:17Speaker 1: to go, and I'm like, you know, that's not that, mom,
- 4:20Speaker 1: I don't want he's going with me. And so then
- 4:23Speaker 1: she's like, Okay, we're going, and I'm like, no, we're not.
- 4:27Speaker 1: We're I don't know how to tell you this, No
- 4:29Speaker 1: we are not going. But then we did go together.
- 4:32Speaker 1: We both went to Burning Man. We um, we got
- 4:36Speaker 1: we got stuck in the parking lot the first night.
- 4:38Speaker 1: There was a huge rain storm. It was just like
- 4:41Speaker 1: a crazy experience. But it was so much fun. And
- 4:44Speaker 1: I'm an artist that I was a fine arts major
- 4:46Speaker 1: in college, and my mom's like really creative and and
- 4:49Speaker 1: so for us, like we love Halloween, we love costumes,
- 4:53Speaker 1: we like we loved the aspect, the music, um, the
- 4:58Speaker 1: community aspect of like being on plugged you have no service,
- 5:01Speaker 1: You're like meeting people and actually just like going and
- 5:05Speaker 1: sitting at somebody's camp and like having a conversation with
- 5:07Speaker 1: a stranger. It was It was cool. So I did
- 5:10Speaker 1: it three times and then I was on Paradise and
- 5:13Speaker 1: it um overlaps the the reunion show overlaps with Burning Man.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So I didn't go the last two years, and my
- 5:22Speaker 1: mom went those two years without me. So she's gone
- 5:25Speaker 1: five times and I've gone three times. So also side notes,
- 5:28Speaker 1: So both times I was at the reunion show. One
- 5:31Speaker 1: of those times being broken up with, I really wanted
- 5:34Speaker 1: to call my mom, but she was at burning Man
- 5:37Speaker 1: in a hotel, so she's unplugged out there. What's the
- 5:40Speaker 1: sleeping situation. So she now has a little like camper
- 5:44Speaker 1: that she but I actually took on a road trip
- 5:46Speaker 1: during COVID. It's awesome, um and she has the whole setup,
- 5:52Speaker 1: the amenities of like a bathroom and a kitchen, so
- 5:55Speaker 1: it was great. Once she got that, which I think
- 5:57Speaker 1: was year too. I still was tenting it, which is
- 6:02Speaker 1: very rough, like no shower for ten days, you know,
- 6:05Speaker 1: porta potty situation. Kalen's like my regular life, but welcome
- 6:10Speaker 1: to my life. So that like fun fact about me.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I could go a very long time without showering. I like, don't,
- 6:17Speaker 1: I don't. I'm not a person that showers very often.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I don't know if that's gross, but I'm a mom.
- 6:22Speaker 1: It's like every third day, so I wasn't every other day,
- 6:24Speaker 1: but now I can be like three to five days,
- 6:27Speaker 1: burning me in like ten days. It's so dry and dusty.
- 6:29Speaker 1: It's easy for me anyways. But anyways, so now my
- 6:33Speaker 1: mom has this trailer and it's great because I would
- 6:35Speaker 1: tend it and then i'd like go ride my bike
- 6:37Speaker 1: over to her trailer and i'd cook eggs in the morning.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I'm like, this is luxury. Why were you in the
- 6:43Speaker 1: trailer with your mom? No, I'd like ride to her
- 6:45Speaker 1: camp because we're at different camps, so I would be
- 6:47Speaker 1: why was there different camps? There's so many camps. They'll
- 6:50Speaker 1: be like a ton of different people have like I
- 6:54Speaker 1: can't even think of a name right now, but they'll
- 6:55Speaker 1: have one that's like just dedicated to like cats, were
- 6:59Speaker 1: like English people, or like you know, love like English people.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm just trying to think of like
- 7:05Speaker 1: what I've seen. There's like a Barbie camp. There's like
- 7:07Speaker 1: all sorts of things. Okay, Okay, so this is really
- 7:10Speaker 1: super interesting and I'm I want to ask more questions,
- 7:13Speaker 1: but I'm also concerned because all my questions are rated
- 7:16Speaker 1: are I'm not sure that Hund wants to hear about that.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So we're gonna have you come out, come back and
- 7:21Speaker 1: talk about burning a band some other time. Moving on
- 7:25Speaker 1: to Kalin because she made a really cute, sweet comment
- 7:28Speaker 1: and dinner yesterday about how her life has just her
- 7:33Speaker 1: horizons have been brought in because of her life with Dean.
- 7:37Speaker 1: What was the exact quote you said? It was really sweet,
- 7:40Speaker 1: so cheesy, and Dean with Cris on topic with your journey. Um,
- 7:47Speaker 1: it is so cheesy. I hate it. But I really
- 7:49Speaker 1: feel like I didn't start living until I met Dean,
- 7:51Speaker 1: just because he's opened my eyes to so many things
- 7:54Speaker 1: like skydiving and rock climbing and living in the van
- 7:57Speaker 1: and just like broke me out of this uh like
- 8:01Speaker 1: uptight shell that I was in. So it's these past
- 8:04Speaker 1: three years have been like the best of my life.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I love that, alright, Jason, how do you feel? Oh,
- 8:14Speaker 1: by the way, you guys, Ben has just arrived from
- 8:16Speaker 1: the top of the mountain. How was the documentary? It
- 8:18Speaker 1: was awesome, It was really fun. I watched the Olympic
- 8:21Speaker 1: documentary from nineteen sixty. It was nineteen sixty that they did.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I just let you know. It was the very first
- 8:28Speaker 1: televised Olympics ever, so it really put winter sports on
- 8:32Speaker 1: the map. Um, that's what I'll stopped talking. I had
- 8:35Speaker 1: a great time. I'm glad I'm late because I was
- 8:38Speaker 1: learning so much about life. I'm gonna keep So, Okay,
- 8:41Speaker 1: you evolved your journey by watching this documentary. We're talking
- 8:44Speaker 1: about evolving your journey because Hunda, you know, that's what
- 8:47Speaker 1: they believe in, and that's what we believe in. But
- 8:49Speaker 1: I said that they can go Ben style on explaining
- 8:52Speaker 1: this and go deep and like spiritual, or they can
- 8:55Speaker 1: go Ashley style and be like there was this one
- 8:57Speaker 1: time where I pet an awesome dog. I feel like
- 9:02Speaker 1: you have so much depth in both the ways. Credit Okay, Jason,
- 9:09Speaker 1: any any anecdote a little story for us? First of all,
- 9:12Speaker 1: when you do this Burning Man episode, I'd love to
- 9:14Speaker 1: know because I'm very confused. I don't know much about it.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I wanted to one on one because I heard cat areas,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I heard nice eggs with moms. I thought it was
- 9:21Speaker 1: a music festival. So I'll give me that link when
- 9:24Speaker 1: it comes out, Um evolved my journey, I'll I don't.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I don't really know. I think I don't know. It's
- 9:31Speaker 1: been a wild ride. I think I think I talked
- 9:34Speaker 1: about this often, but never a million years. I think
- 9:36Speaker 1: I would go on a reality show, go on the Bachelor,
- 9:39Speaker 1: against what everyone in the world told me to do,
- 9:41Speaker 1: and as a result of that, it's changed my life
- 9:43Speaker 1: in every single way. And like even just being here
- 9:46Speaker 1: and talking to you guys never would have happened if
- 9:48Speaker 1: I went on that show. So I'm gonna take the
- 9:49Speaker 1: ben route. I'm gonna get a little more deeper. But
- 9:52Speaker 1: I think, like, evolve your journey when opportunities come your way,
- 9:55Speaker 1: and when they do, like just dive into them and
- 9:57Speaker 1: don't look back because so many people will be there
- 9:59Speaker 1: to judge. But like, one action you make today could
- 10:01Speaker 1: change your life. For I always say one of the
- 10:04Speaker 1: cheesy sayings that you should live by cheesy sings like
- 10:10Speaker 1: the title of the episode. But I'd like to get
- 10:13Speaker 1: back to burning Match because that wasn't cheesy. That was
- 10:16Speaker 1: very intense. The magic does happen outside of your comfort
- 10:23Speaker 1: zone for sure. Now we had the cute married couple.
- 10:36Speaker 1: They're coupled up and snugly on the corner of the
- 10:38Speaker 1: cow Trisa, Ryan, do you want to answer this question
- 10:40Speaker 1: together or separately? Oh? No, no, because I think Chris
- 10:44Speaker 1: is saying if we do it together, then Ryan won't
- 10:46Speaker 1: say anything. Exactly, which is fine. Ryan. How has your
- 10:53Speaker 1: your journey evolved over the past, like twenty years with
- 10:56Speaker 1: Chester twenty years. I was just gonna talk about the
- 10:58Speaker 1: last couple of minutes. That works for me good because
- 11:02Speaker 1: I just paid an awesome dog last weekend. We were
- 11:06Speaker 1: at it. We were at a wedding and we went
- 11:07Speaker 1: on a hike and I had seen this dog. I
- 11:10Speaker 1: follow these rescue mots flights on Instagram, and there was
- 11:14Speaker 1: this dog and this dog was named Iris, and it
- 11:16Speaker 1: was an awesome dog for sure, So like, like, what
- 11:19Speaker 1: kind of dog was it? It was just mud. It
- 11:22Speaker 1: was just like someone had rescued it off of a
- 11:24Speaker 1: New Mexico Indian reservation or Native American reservation and it's
- 11:28Speaker 1: been it was being fostered, and so they had posted
- 11:31Speaker 1: a post on Instagram about looking for a permanent home,
- 11:35Speaker 1: which I wasn't able to convince anyone that should at
- 11:37Speaker 1: home should be Iris, but but it was just kind
- 11:41Speaker 1: of crazy that I had just seen her and we
- 11:44Speaker 1: were walking, Tristan and I were walking on a hike
- 11:46Speaker 1: in Buena Vista, which was not where we live, and
- 11:49Speaker 1: here comes this little dog, Iris, and she was sweetheart.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Did you talk about adopting her before you met her
- 11:54Speaker 1: in real life. No, I didn't. I'd never talked about
- 11:57Speaker 1: that stuff because I never went and so it's just
- 11:59Speaker 1: not worth it. But we have a great dog, so
- 12:02Speaker 1: that's fine. But it was just crazy seeing this dog walking.
- 12:06Speaker 1: How many dogs do you ideally want? I wouldn't we
- 12:09Speaker 1: have one. I wouldn't mind took. I think he was great,
- 12:12Speaker 1: but we'll see. I could honestly have three. Yeah, I
- 12:15Speaker 1: could have three too. Now that now that you've we've
- 12:17Speaker 1: talked about it, I feel like, yeah, he convinced me.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I actually just them sitting here in envy of everyone
- 12:26Speaker 1: Bend for figuring out some way to finagle with his
- 12:29Speaker 1: way to be late to this thing, which is usually
- 12:31Speaker 1: what I'm good at, and I saw I'm like, how
- 12:33Speaker 1: did I miss this documentary? I've never been to Burning
- 12:37Speaker 1: manell you to get I know Burning Man, I've missed
- 12:42Speaker 1: out on it. Despite the fact that they I don't
- 12:44Speaker 1: know if you know this, but Burning Man hires a
- 12:46Speaker 1: fire department, a unique fire department every single Burning manu
- 12:52Speaker 1: um because just just unique every year. So it's new
- 12:55Speaker 1: people every year. So they just build their own fire
- 12:57Speaker 1: department every year for specific for Burning Different Towns department
- 13:03Speaker 1: every year. No, they just hired, like you can apply
- 13:05Speaker 1: and you can do that. So I've I've always been
- 13:07Speaker 1: jealous of that. So we have to do a collaborative
- 13:11Speaker 1: thing here where you and at least go to Burning
- 13:13Speaker 1: Man together and then you come and do a podcast. Yeah,
- 13:15Speaker 1: we'll talk about it afterwards. My mom got two tickets
- 13:19Speaker 1: this year, but I'm not convinced I'm gonna go, so
- 13:21Speaker 1: you can go with my Your mom sounds great, but
- 13:25Speaker 1: not as great as Yeah, I'm super jealous of Kalen's
- 13:31Speaker 1: relationship with Dean or envious. It sounds like like I
- 13:34Speaker 1: could use a life changing experience like that. Although trist
- 13:37Speaker 1: has done a pretty good job over the last twenty
- 13:39Speaker 1: years of opening my eyes very well. I'm just trying
- 13:44Speaker 1: to go through everyone and say how appreciative sort of
- 13:48Speaker 1: I am of their lives and incorporating me in here,
- 13:51Speaker 1: because I think it's weird for Tristan and I because
- 13:55Speaker 1: we were on this show so long ago that we
- 13:58Speaker 1: don't relate necessarily to everybody, And so to get here,
- 14:01Speaker 1: to get this opportunity to sit here briefly and listen
- 14:03Speaker 1: to everybody um talking about their experiences is pretty cool.
- 14:07Speaker 1: So I just more of a which doesn't seem obvious
- 14:11Speaker 1: because I feel like I've been talking my face off
- 14:12Speaker 1: all of a sudden, A more of a listener than
- 14:14Speaker 1: a talker, But um, I have appreciated the opportunity to
- 14:18Speaker 1: listen to all these wonderful people and their stories about
- 14:21Speaker 1: their relationships and their experiences, and so it's been cool.
- 14:23Speaker 1: How did you, as somebody who is like somebody who
- 14:28Speaker 1: doesn't like holding the mic, how did you sign up
- 14:32Speaker 1: for the show and how did you thrive on the show?
- 14:37Speaker 1: I was signed up. There was a woman who's now
- 14:41Speaker 1: married to a good friend of mine who has roommates
- 14:43Speaker 1: within college. She was friends with the casting producer who
- 14:47Speaker 1: they were looking for contestants for this show, and she
- 14:50Speaker 1: signed everyone who lived in this house together up and
- 14:54Speaker 1: we all got calls. I initially so this is like
- 14:57Speaker 1: Temptation Island type era, and I initially declined the offer.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I was like, I don't feel like I'm trash. Yeah,
- 15:05Speaker 1: I was like, I can't do that secretly in my
- 15:07Speaker 1: bedroom as a ninth grader, And then when my mom
- 15:09Speaker 1: would walk in, it was like a little purple TV
- 15:12Speaker 1: hit off. Yeah, So I so I said no, and
- 15:18Speaker 1: and then um, because he has a really hard time.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Well That's how I ended up on it was they
- 15:24Speaker 1: were they were persistent, and I was like, okay, frown yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 1: and so I ended up on it, and um, I
- 15:30Speaker 1: didn't like. I took a week off of work because
- 15:33Speaker 1: I told my fire chief, I'm like this thing, I
- 15:35Speaker 1: gotta go do it for a week. I should be back.
- 15:38Speaker 1: And then every week I kept having to ask for
- 15:40Speaker 1: more time off. And I just tried to be myself.
- 15:44Speaker 1: And I mean, it's the cliche answer. You just go
- 15:47Speaker 1: on there and you're sort of authentic and you try
- 15:48Speaker 1: to be yourself, and as you progressed through it, I
- 15:52Speaker 1: felt like Tristan and I were developing a pretty strong relationship,
- 15:56Speaker 1: and so then you just get immersed in that and
- 15:58Speaker 1: that keeps you sort of motivate it and going, and
- 16:00Speaker 1: you want you really because you're so focused, there's no
- 16:04Speaker 1: other outside life distractions. You can really put your whole
- 16:07Speaker 1: all of your energy into trying to get her to
- 16:10Speaker 1: get to know who you really are and really trying
- 16:12Speaker 1: to find out who she is. And so that part
- 16:15Speaker 1: was easy. I thought, maybe you guys feel the same way.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I felt like watching the show when it came out
- 16:20Speaker 1: was much more difficult than actually being on the show.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So I watched the first episode up until Trista started
- 16:28Speaker 1: making out with Russ on a port patio and bloss
- 16:30Speaker 1: It's definitely harder for you to watch back because you
- 16:32Speaker 1: were the quote winner. Yeah, so I was like, all right,
- 16:35Speaker 1: this isn't gonna be good for our relationship if I
- 16:38Speaker 1: keep watching. So I stopped. But that was much harder
- 16:41Speaker 1: than actually turns out being on the show and working
- 16:44Speaker 1: my way through trying to develop a relationship. Was it
- 16:46Speaker 1: a love at first sight feeling? This is a question
- 16:48Speaker 1: for both of you. Just how far in did you
- 16:51Speaker 1: just know? We were probably at um, what's what's seattle? Like?
- 16:58Speaker 1: I guess fantasy sweets? Is that what it was called
- 17:01Speaker 1: back then? Well? I know, but I feel like it
- 17:05Speaker 1: was something else right before that was more innocent back then.
- 17:08Speaker 1: It's just a little bit. Um it was. It was
- 17:13Speaker 1: a I really like, um, what's love it first? I
- 17:19Speaker 1: really like at first sight? He was one of my
- 17:23Speaker 1: top four the first night, um, and then from there
- 17:27Speaker 1: it just obviously solidified and then grew and kept growing.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You I don't know if I've never heard there were
- 17:34Speaker 1: no other choices for me, this is going to be good.
- 17:41Speaker 1: We actually in those days, like all of the guys
- 17:44Speaker 1: got along really well, and when we after the first
- 17:46Speaker 1: night and we got rid of a few, there were,
- 17:49Speaker 1: um it was like a frat house kind of environment.
- 17:51Speaker 1: So we would get our one on one dates or whatever,
- 17:54Speaker 1: and guys would be like, Okay, hold my drink, I'm
- 17:56Speaker 1: gonna go out on the dude, just make sure you're
- 17:58Speaker 1: like ready to go when we get So it was
- 18:01Speaker 1: it was, um. I was always interested interested, just knowing
- 18:06Speaker 1: a little bit about her going into the show, but
- 18:09Speaker 1: I wasn't fully interested until it started, like and still
- 18:13Speaker 1: always like until the guy's carts getting whettled down a
- 18:16Speaker 1: little bit, and then you you really kind of it
- 18:19Speaker 1: became less of a party atmosphere and more of a UM.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I distinctly remember the time I actually talked to Bob,
- 18:25Speaker 1: who was who was just here um about it, because
- 18:30Speaker 1: you get you get competitive and you're thinking yourself, well,
- 18:33Speaker 1: am I just trying to win this show? Or do
- 18:35Speaker 1: I really care about her? And so we had a
- 18:37Speaker 1: pretty long conversation about it, which is kind of what
- 18:39Speaker 1: I mean about the guys on that show. It was
- 18:41Speaker 1: a different type of relationship where you felt like you
- 18:44Speaker 1: could confide in them even though they were trying to
- 18:46Speaker 1: kind of trying to get the same girl. So at
- 18:49Speaker 1: that point, I think we were down to like maybe
- 18:52Speaker 1: eight guys or something like that. Sixth right guys. At
- 18:55Speaker 1: that point I was like, Okay, I really am into her.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna just go I'm gonna fully invest myself into it.
- 19:01Speaker 1: And it wasn't about the other guys or the other friendships.
- 19:04Speaker 1: It was all about trying to just let her know
- 19:07Speaker 1: how I really felt. So it was it was, um, yeah,
- 19:12Speaker 1: that's how it was. This is quickly becoming a Tristan
- 19:15Speaker 1: and Ryan in that episode, which I like, and I
- 19:18Speaker 1: think we should breaking none producers, let's do this. Um.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I just have to ask one more question though, how
- 19:25Speaker 1: long were you together before you got married and did
- 19:28Speaker 1: you feel russian to getting married or were you like
- 19:29Speaker 1: totally ready because I know, like a lot of bachelor
- 19:32Speaker 1: couples coming off the show now it's such a weird
- 19:34Speaker 1: thing because like they get engaged so fast, but then
- 19:37Speaker 1: they get into the real world and then it's like, oh,
- 19:39Speaker 1: are we dating or are we planning a wedding? Is
- 19:43Speaker 1: this still me? Answer? No, I, Um, I think looking back,
- 19:49Speaker 1: it was probably a little too soon to get engaged
- 19:51Speaker 1: to get married, But you like, you're just writing the
- 19:53Speaker 1: wave of the show and then suddenly you're sort of
- 19:56Speaker 1: spit out into real life. You're not allowed to see
- 19:59Speaker 1: each other anymore. But for us, I think that strengthened
- 20:03Speaker 1: our relationship a little bit. And it was a different
- 20:05Speaker 1: world when we were on the show, So we we
- 20:09Speaker 1: talked a lot on the phone, and that forced me
- 20:12Speaker 1: to become more of a conversationalist with her before forced
- 20:15Speaker 1: us to really, um, you know, we couldn't just go
- 20:19Speaker 1: to a movie and just sit there in silence. We
- 20:20Speaker 1: had to sort of communicate, and so our relationship grew
- 20:25Speaker 1: pretty quickly even outside of the show. And and so
- 20:28Speaker 1: I don't feel like we rushed into our wedding. Um.
- 20:32Speaker 1: You know, everybody is obviously different in that regard, but
- 20:34Speaker 1: for us, we were fortunate enough to find ourselves still
- 20:38Speaker 1: caring for each other outside of the show environment, which
- 20:42Speaker 1: I think is where a lot of people get messed up,
- 20:45Speaker 1: is that they're they're all these other outside influences come
- 20:48Speaker 1: pouring back into their lives and then they're distracted and
- 20:51Speaker 1: things get kind of um muddled, but for us, um,
- 20:55Speaker 1: like I said, social media didn't really like it was like,
- 20:57Speaker 1: I think my Space was about as my as you
- 21:00Speaker 1: could do. So we were we were good and I
- 21:02Speaker 1: think um both of us knew that that's what we wanted. Um,
- 21:06Speaker 1: I have never wanted along and I hate the word fiance.
- 21:09Speaker 1: How many months was it between engagement and marriage? Yeah,
- 21:15Speaker 1: but way less than that if you count when we
- 21:17Speaker 1: were actually able to hang out with each other. So yeah,
- 21:24Speaker 1: so earlier when when Jason, I want to know this
- 21:27Speaker 1: answer from you, Ryan, Um, Bob was telling us that
- 21:30Speaker 1: when you were living in the house, you were you know,
- 21:33Speaker 1: you walk in your former NFL football player. You're good looking,
- 21:36Speaker 1: you you're strong, you're put together. You're writing poetry. Um,
- 21:41Speaker 1: you're writing notes. This is not a lie either. You're
- 21:43Speaker 1: saying like the guys would be out like raging and
- 21:46Speaker 1: you'd be like back processing your thoughts like a great
- 21:49Speaker 1: human does. My question for you, though, is you were strapping, charming, smart.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Jared calls him Superman because look at them big muscle exactly,
- 22:00Speaker 1: He's in Clark Kent mode right now. It takes off
- 22:03Speaker 1: those glasses span. My question for you is how do
- 22:06Speaker 1: you have bigger biceps today that it has been a
- 22:12Speaker 1: serious questions. Wow, there's a strong transition there. It's my son,
- 22:22Speaker 1: Max is fifteen, and he's hyper. Um, he's like in
- 22:25Speaker 1: hyper workout mode, and he I can tell he's starting
- 22:28Speaker 1: to feel like he's like on the brink of challenging
- 22:31Speaker 1: me in some sort of physical contest. And so I
- 22:36Speaker 1: have to um maintain some sort of physical fitness so
- 22:40Speaker 1: that I can continue to take my fifteen year olds on.
- 22:42Speaker 1: That was a great answer. He's also a firefighter, so
- 22:45Speaker 1: he has to save people, so he actually is Superman.
- 22:58Speaker 1: All right. Well, I mean I can't think of a
- 23:00Speaker 1: better answer for the question, how have you evolved your
- 23:02Speaker 1: journey than what these lovely people have given us, one
- 23:07Speaker 1: that's unique to you. Oh you want me to answer
- 23:09Speaker 1: for myself. I'm just saying that, Like, I don't think
- 23:11Speaker 1: we could have completed this podcast in a better way.
- 23:13Speaker 1: I think it's fantastic evolving my journey. Oh my gosh,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I wish I could just think of a good dog
- 23:20Speaker 1: that I've pet lately. Um. Definitely, Like what I'm going
- 23:25Speaker 1: through now with life is it is hard, Like motherhood
- 23:29Speaker 1: is hard, just parent being a parent is so hard.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And people tell you that all the time, right, like
- 23:36Speaker 1: that's all you hear, but then when you experience it,
- 23:38Speaker 1: you're like, oh my gosh, this actually is like the
- 23:40Speaker 1: hardest job in the world. It is exhausting and it
- 23:43Speaker 1: is a full time job and everything on top of it.
- 23:45Speaker 1: You're just like, how am I juggling like this work
- 23:48Speaker 1: life balance? There really is no work life balance because
- 23:50Speaker 1: every single hour in your day is filled with one
- 23:53Speaker 1: or the other. Um So, I think my journey is
- 23:56Speaker 1: currently evolving and uh uh yeah, and we'll continue to
- 24:03Speaker 1: And it's like I love my child so much, like
- 24:07Speaker 1: so much, but it's so crazy. It's just like the
- 24:09Speaker 1: weirdest thing. And I can't can't keep I keep saying
- 24:13Speaker 1: it on different forms of media, but it's like weird.
- 24:17Speaker 1: How you feel like you need a break. You're like, oh,
- 24:20Speaker 1: you know, I'm going to tak for forty eight hours.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I'm going to get a good break, I'm gonna get
- 24:23Speaker 1: a good sleep, and then you're here and you're just like,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I miss him and I need to go back right now,
- 24:28Speaker 1: and I'm worrying about him. Is he breathing in his
- 24:30Speaker 1: crib and all that stuff. It's so crazy. Um So,
- 24:34Speaker 1: it's just like, this is a crazy journey that I'm
- 24:37Speaker 1: learning to navigate now and I'm only six months in
- 24:40Speaker 1: and it's crazy because I feel like trust I can
- 24:42Speaker 1: totally relate. But and Ryan, it takes every month is different.
- 24:47Speaker 1: So it's like a constant evolving journey and there we
- 24:51Speaker 1: go and it will continue to do that. I mean
- 24:54Speaker 1: still our kids. Like it's maybe not every month, yeah,
- 24:59Speaker 1: maybe not every month at this it's right, but it
- 25:01Speaker 1: is favorite, you know, and it's beautiful. It's beautiful. I know,
- 25:08Speaker 1: it's so crazy. And then he smiled. It's like he
- 25:11Speaker 1: cries all the time, right, but then like he smiles,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and you're like, right, right. I think that about Max too,
- 25:20Speaker 1: because he's like, oh you're smiling. You're six months old,
- 25:24Speaker 1: fifteen years old, it's all the same. Please smile once
- 25:28Speaker 1: for me. You know. It props to Trista and Ryan's
- 25:33Speaker 1: son Max, who is here on this trip with his parents,
- 25:37Speaker 1: because it is not an easy age to go hang
- 25:40Speaker 1: out with a whole bunch of people that are not
- 25:42Speaker 1: your age and maybe are a little bit more outgoing
- 25:46Speaker 1: than you. I don't know, just a little bit. He
- 25:48Speaker 1: has no peers here and he's he's being a champ.
- 25:51Speaker 1: He is, It's fine, he's he's good. He likes adventures,
- 25:55Speaker 1: so he just came on a little adventure, got some
- 25:58Speaker 1: Caroline Miles, you know, yeah, to have some really good
- 26:00Speaker 1: food last night, such good food, and maybe tonight too.
- 26:05Speaker 1: So thank you Hund for this amazing experience, this amazing podcast,
- 26:09Speaker 1: and for encouraging us all to talk about our journeys.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Do you have anything besides the documentary that you want
- 26:15Speaker 1: to talk about? Heavy? Heavy or light? Yeah? Um, and
- 26:20Speaker 1: you know, not a lot. I was. I like what
- 26:22Speaker 1: Jason said. Jason is a smart dude. And you know,
- 26:26Speaker 1: I think when I think of evolving my journey, I
- 26:28Speaker 1: go back to the Applebee's and Worst Off Bar. And
- 26:33Speaker 1: I remember sitting at the bar okay, next to my boss.
- 26:37Speaker 1: At the time, I was running a youth camp and
- 26:40Speaker 1: we're sundy and a living with my parents. I was
- 26:43Speaker 1: out of college and she said, Ben, you need to
- 26:46Speaker 1: get out of here. And I said why. She goes,
- 26:49Speaker 1: You're gonna get stuck in the same rhythm and routine
- 26:53Speaker 1: and you're gonna be okay with it, but you're gonna
- 26:54Speaker 1: wake up one day and you're gonna realize you missed
- 26:56Speaker 1: out a lot. She goes my brother has a job
- 26:59Speaker 1: opening in Denver, and I already called him and I
- 27:01Speaker 1: think you should take it, And so I said yes,
- 27:05Speaker 1: Uh not immediately, but after a couple of weeks or
- 27:08Speaker 1: a week, I guess of thinking about it, and I
- 27:10Speaker 1: look back on like that random, weird moment that changed
- 27:14Speaker 1: the course of everything else for the future, right, I mean,
- 27:19Speaker 1: I think like, if I don't go to Denver, I
- 27:21Speaker 1: don't go on the show. If I don't go on
- 27:23Speaker 1: the show, I don't have the opportunities I do today.
- 27:25Speaker 1: If I don't go on the show, I probably don't
- 27:27Speaker 1: meet my wife. If I don't mean my wife, you know,
- 27:30Speaker 1: who knows where I'm at. And so I think what
- 27:33Speaker 1: Jason was saying, it's like I can't you know every
- 27:35Speaker 1: Like it's weird if you look back on life and
- 27:37Speaker 1: you're like, Okay, we're sitting in Taho today, who am
- 27:39Speaker 1: I going to meet? What's going to happen that I'm
- 27:40Speaker 1: not even gonna recognize as a moment of pivoting or transition,
- 27:44Speaker 1: but it changes the course of everything. Um, And so
- 27:48Speaker 1: that's what I'd say, is like I just have learned
- 27:50Speaker 1: to appreciate or like try to stay aware of the
- 27:55Speaker 1: many moments that seem insignificant but have a life changing impact.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, I do that so much lately, Like
- 28:03Speaker 1: I'm constantly just pausitively being like I can't believe how
- 28:07Speaker 1: blessed I am, Like I can't believe, like this is
- 28:10Speaker 1: my life and so much. I know we like suck
- 28:13Speaker 1: up to the show a lot, but I don't know
- 28:15Speaker 1: where my life would be without the show. And I
- 28:16Speaker 1: feel like everybody in this room can say that you
- 28:19Speaker 1: are not sucking up to the show, because I'm just like,
- 28:22Speaker 1: oh my, like my, that's just my whole family and
- 28:25Speaker 1: like my whole career, like I would have. I have
- 28:28Speaker 1: no idea, no idea where I'd be about the show.
- 28:31Speaker 1: And I feel like we have a couple of people
- 28:32Speaker 1: in this room that, like so many significant others have
- 28:35Speaker 1: been found at the show. That's just like, why in
- 28:38Speaker 1: the world where we where it would be? It's not
- 28:41Speaker 1: sicking up to the show. I think the thing that
- 28:43Speaker 1: because I used to feel that way, and I used
- 28:44Speaker 1: to feel like, oh, the more I talk about that,
- 28:46Speaker 1: the less like it feels like, oh, yeah, I've did
- 28:50Speaker 1: this thing that not many people have done. It's just
- 28:52Speaker 1: your unique experience. Like some people have a really great
- 28:54Speaker 1: job or a really bad job, or they grow up
- 28:57Speaker 1: in a place they love or they don't like that
- 28:58Speaker 1: changes that Like that your story that changed you. But
- 29:01Speaker 1: anybody listening has that moment or that thing that's him
- 29:06Speaker 1: launch into whatever they're at today. Um. But for us,
- 29:10Speaker 1: it's a show, So we talk about it because that
- 29:11Speaker 1: is your story that is unique to you. Uh. And
- 29:15Speaker 1: that's something to either celebrate or be really upset about.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Like you have like kind of two options when it
- 29:19Speaker 1: comes to show. You can either be really upset that
- 29:21Speaker 1: you did hit and it could like not help, or
- 29:23Speaker 1: you can look back and be like it changed everything
- 29:26Speaker 1: for the better. UM. And I think that's where you
- 29:28Speaker 1: and I say, and that might be unique to us,
- 29:29Speaker 1: but that's my journey. Uh. And I love the theme
- 29:34Speaker 1: of evolving your journey and talking about it and thinking
- 29:36Speaker 1: about it and processing through it. So thank you, thank
- 29:40Speaker 1: you bye. Follow the Bennon Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
