Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Developing story for you this morning out of Sweden, a
- 0:02Speaker 1: shooting at a hear seal on. Kevin Gray are UK
- 0:05Speaker 1: europe correspondent with the latest givin What do we know?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Yeah, very sketchy details at the moment, Ryan, but we're
- 0:11Speaker 2: being told that potentially three people may have been killed.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Earlier reports suggested several, So it's probably somewhere in the middle,
- 0:21Speaker 2: I would have thought. As the news comes in. In Uppsala,
- 0:24Speaker 2: a city in Sweden, now it's reported that right in
- 0:27Speaker 2: the city center there were a series of loud cracks
- 0:29Speaker 2: and bangs indicating gunfire. Members of the public called the
- 0:34Speaker 2: police saying that were gunshots being fired, and several people
- 0:38Speaker 2: were found in and around the city center with injuries
- 0:41Speaker 2: and gunshot wounds. It's being reported police say they're calleding
- 0:45Speaker 2: off a large area of the city. There are gun
- 0:49Speaker 2: laws of course in Sweden, but I'm afraid. Back in February,
- 0:52Speaker 2: in another Swedish city, ten people were killed in the
- 0:55Speaker 2: country's deadliest ever mashed suiting. There, a thirty five year
- 0:59Speaker 2: old unemployed open fire on students and teachers at an
- 1:02Speaker 2: adult education said that we don't know much more about
- 1:05Speaker 2: today's shooting, that suffice to say, there'll be more questions
- 1:08Speaker 2: about tightening gun laws in Scandinavia.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Devin the Spain Portugal cyber Atteck, Well, not a cyber Atteck,
- 1:14Speaker 1: but a power cut. Now we know definitely not a
- 1:17Speaker 1: cyber Atteck. Is it possible that this weather thing could
- 1:20Speaker 1: happen again.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the big fear, and I think lots of countries,
- 1:24Speaker 2: including the UK, thinking, well, hang on a minute, are
- 1:27Speaker 2: we sort of resilient enough to get through this if
- 1:31Speaker 2: it happened to us, Because let's not forget people were
- 1:33Speaker 2: stuck in lifts. The electric trains simply stopped mid stations
- 1:38Speaker 2: and you couldn't open the doors. It was a very
- 1:40Speaker 2: hot day yesterday in Spain and Portugal, and of course
- 1:43Speaker 2: the petrol pumps weren't working, and the cash registers weren't working,
- 1:49Speaker 2: and of course the credit cards weren't accepted, so all
- 1:51Speaker 2: of a sudden there was panic buying with cash. There
- 1:53Speaker 2: were cash machine queues that were very lengthy, but we
- 1:56Speaker 2: now look like that are very large. Drop energy equivalent
- 2:01Speaker 2: to sixty percent of the demand was suddenly lost from
- 2:04Speaker 2: the system. About fifteen gigawa was in just five second,
- 2:08Speaker 2: so there's been a press conference in which it said
- 2:10Speaker 2: there were two disconnection events barely a second apart in
- 2:14Speaker 2: southwest Spain when there is a substantial solar power generation.
- 2:19Speaker 2: So whether it is this effort to use green energy
- 2:23Speaker 2: that suddenly caused a problem for not just Spain but
- 2:27Speaker 2: Portugal and bits of France as well is another matter.
- 2:30Speaker 2: It does appin most of these properties that were disconnected,
- 2:33Speaker 2: of which there were a vast areas of Spain and
- 2:36Speaker 2: Portugal in particular, it does look like that has now
- 2:39Speaker 2: been reconnected. But this sudden drop in power is obviously
- 2:43Speaker 2: deeply worrying. A big investigation underway.
- 2:46Speaker 1: All right, Gavin, appreciate your time. Gevin Gray are UK
- 2:49Speaker 1: Europe Correspondent.
