- 0:01Hey. Everybody, welcome to the Good
- 0:03Morning from the Chicken Coop podcast.
- 0:05My name is Kim Johnson and I am a mastermindset, coach, creative
- 0:08strategist, and also happened to be a farmer.
- 0:11This is my Chicken coop and I come out here.
- 0:13Every day to record a podcast to.
- 0:15Teach distinctions, possibilities, new ways of
- 0:18thinking, and just bring some joy.
- 0:20Into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. So as you can hear, my voice is
- 0:33off. And you know, if you've been
- 0:35listening over the last couple weeks, lots has been going on
- 0:39and my voice just this, this cold, whatever this thing is,
- 0:44this funk has just been consuming my voice and I,
- 0:49there's nothing in my lungs, there's nothing in my head.
- 0:52I don't have a sinus infection, It's just this back of the
- 0:55throat, you know, cold thing where I just have this drip and
- 0:59it makes my voice and I can't sleep and I cough all night
- 1:03long. And it's just been a rough 1.
- 1:05So first, let me apologize for missing a few days doing the
- 1:08podcast because it's just been so hard getting it timed out
- 1:13where I can get out here with the girls.
- 1:15And sometimes if I was to get up too early, I hadn't slept.
- 1:19And it's just been just, it's just been very interesting
- 1:23making it all work. So which is the point of today's
- 1:26podcast is sometimes you just have to surrender to the
- 1:29conditions in which you're dealing.
- 1:31Now, I did not stop working through all of this because I
- 1:34feel fine other than my voice. So I had to, you know, my, in my
- 1:40mind, I had to maintain every single session every single
- 1:44time. And that's how I always have
- 1:46been. I mean, when I in 2021, when I
- 1:48had Covic, I worked through Covic.
- 1:50I worked while I had a fever of 101.4 for two weeks.
- 1:55I worked through it because you live up to your obligations.
- 1:59You stick to the schedule unless of course, you have like no way
- 2:03out of it. But I didn't.
- 2:05I was, I was like, OK, other than the fever, I feel OK.
- 2:08I'm just, you know, sluggish and hot and that's it.
- 2:12So this time I'm like, no, I feel completely fine.
- 2:16I'm going to keep going. And I have, I've continued
- 2:18today. I'm doing the same thing.
- 2:20But what has happened around it is that I've recognized, not
- 2:25that I would have done anything any differently, though I want
- 2:27to be very clear about that. But I've recognized how I have
- 2:31to, for myself, look at the signs and say, OK, how can I
- 2:38shift so that I can heal quicker?
- 2:41How can I shift so that I can be a little bit different?
- 2:44And I get very stubborn and I'm like, I won't give in.
- 2:46And until last week, late last week, I didn't even reschedule a
- 2:52session, but my headache got the best of me.
- 2:54So I had to reschedule 2 sessions.
- 2:57And then I was like, OK, which I don't like to do to anybody.
- 3:01And then, you know, now I have this situation even now why I'm
- 3:05going and recording with you. I have this inclination to cough
- 3:10and I probably have to push the pause button, cough and then
- 3:13come back. But I have a video call that's
- 3:16coming up Monday night for my groups and I had to decide the
- 3:20other day. My daughter said to me, mom, you
- 3:23can't see them. Let them see you coughing on
- 3:25video. You've got to cancel that call.
- 3:28And I would say cancel the call. That's insane.
- 3:30Why would I do that? And she's like, because you
- 3:33can't cough during the call. And she was right.
- 3:36And so I'm preparing the e-mail to go out to cancel the call.
- 3:40And what this has brought me to is an understanding that
- 3:42sometimes even with the best intentions, me personally, I get
- 3:48very stubborn and that that's not always for my greater good.
- 3:52So I'm learning through this process that I can shift and
- 3:56change and take a break, give myself breaks so that I can
- 4:00continue forward and it's OK, it's OK.
- 4:03Now here's the funny part. Even in just shooting this, I
- 4:06had to hit the pause button, cough, blow my nose, clear my
- 4:10head out, and then I'm like, OK, can't continue, can't do that on
- 4:13video. And I had to give myself a break
- 4:15of not trying to get out so early in the morning that I'm
- 4:19going to cause myself to be sick and not stay in bed a little bit
- 4:23longer and get a little bit extra sleep.
- 4:25So the, the whole thing is a learning, it's just a learning
- 4:30situation for me. It's a, it's a how, how stubborn
- 4:34do you want to be versus how healthy do you want to be?
- 4:37How do you want to change this around?
- 4:38What do you want to do? And I, I really have, I have to
- 4:42thank the situation for allowing me to say, you know what?
- 4:45I need to pause. I need to look at things a
- 4:47little differently so I can learn to ask a better question.
- 4:52Not just how do I get it all done, but how do I want to get
- 4:56it all done right? How do I want to do it?
- 4:59Do I want to be flat on my back when I'm done, but at least you
- 5:02got it done. Or do I like to be healthier
- 5:04getting it done? So it's a change in questions,
- 5:07it's a change in perception, it's a change in reality.
- 5:09And I really wanted to share it with you guys because I think
- 5:12it's so important to understand that kind of stuff.
- 5:15Because the truth of the matter is we all go through this and we
- 5:18all push through it. And sometimes we just have to
- 5:20like take a little 2nd and ask a better question.
- 5:24All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:26will see you tomorrow. Bye.
