- 0:52Speaker 1: o'clock hour, we will hear in the two o'clock hour,
- 0:57Speaker 1: we heard from Matthew Golden. In the four o'clock hour,
- 1:02Speaker 1: we're gonna hear from Quinn viewers and from Kelvin Banks
- 1:06Speaker 1: and also from Alfred Collins. But coming up here in
- 1:10Speaker 1: a few minutes. We're here from Matthew Golden, and uh,
- 1:13Speaker 1: excuse me, Andrew mccuba. We heard from Golden last hour.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Andrew mccouba. We'll hear from and Jake Major's the Long
- 1:19Speaker 1: Worn Center. There's coming up, but we want to hear
- 1:21Speaker 1: a little more from Long Wort's head coach Steve Circassian.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Now as he has turned his attention toward the Ohio
- 1:26Speaker 1: State Buckeyes, one of the areas certainly for him to
- 1:31Speaker 1: be concerned about is the play of their quarterback. And
- 1:37Speaker 1: everybody knows their quarterback very very well. Will Howard and
- 1:42Speaker 1: the challenge that he would bring for Texas And you
- 1:46Speaker 1: know what, what has he seen from Will Howard and
- 1:48Speaker 1: what makes a difference for the Long Worn defense?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say the first thing is he's a
- 1:55Speaker 2: He's a much better athlete than people probably give him
- 1:57Speaker 2: credit for. He snapped off a shoot about a seventy
- 2:01Speaker 2: yard touchdown run against us A few years ago. So
- 2:04Speaker 2: he has a good speed, he's got great poison composure
- 2:07Speaker 2: in the pocket. You can tell he's very bright. You know,
- 2:10Speaker 2: the system they ran at Kansas State put a lot
- 2:13Speaker 2: on the quarterback and knowing coach Kelly and coach Day
- 2:16Speaker 2: and what they do, so him managing you know, the
- 2:19Speaker 2: offenses that way. So he's got he's got intelligence, he's
- 2:23Speaker 2: got athletic ability, and then his ability to throw a
- 2:25Speaker 2: catchable ball. You know, I've seen that now for a
- 2:27Speaker 2: few years. You know, he throws passes where they need
- 2:30Speaker 2: to be thrown, and guys make plays for him, and
- 2:32Speaker 2: his poison composure in critical moments is something that has
- 2:36Speaker 2: been very impressive as well.
- 2:38Speaker 1: All right. Now, on the defensive side, we've heard an
- 2:41Speaker 1: awful lot about that Ohio State pass rush. So he
- 2:44Speaker 1: was asked about to what stands out to him about
- 2:47Speaker 1: that Buckeyees pass rush.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I just hope we're good enough to guard him, and
- 2:51Speaker 2: these guys are really good players.
- 2:52Speaker 3: We'll find out.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah, short and sweet to that start. Talked about this
- 2:59Speaker 1: all the way back in June and July. In August,
- 3:03Speaker 1: we talked about the fact that Texas conceivably could play
- 3:06Speaker 1: sixteen maybe even seventeen games, which, by the way, if
- 3:08Speaker 1: they win this week, the National Championship game would be
- 3:12Speaker 1: game number seventeen for the Longhorns. They will have played
- 3:17Speaker 1: more college football games than any other program because neither
- 3:19Speaker 1: Penn State nor Notre Dame played in the conference. Is
- 3:23Speaker 1: that right?
- 3:24Speaker 3: In the conference? Y? No, no, no, Penn State State play.
- 3:26Speaker 1: They lost to Orgon That's right, Penn State did, so
- 3:28Speaker 1: they would be tied to If Penn State beats Notre Dame,
- 3:31Speaker 1: they would both be on their seventeenth game. If Notre
- 3:35Speaker 1: Dame defeats Penn State and Texas wins, then yes, Texas
- 3:38Speaker 1: will have played will be playing in their seventeenth game,
- 3:40Speaker 1: more than any program in college football history. So Sark
- 3:44Speaker 1: was asked if this thing started to feel as they
- 3:48Speaker 1: moved on forward and now into to their sixteenth ball game,
- 3:51Speaker 1: much more like an NFL schedule.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Well, it definitely feels like that, you know, and you
- 3:55Speaker 2: think about, like I said, we're going into game number
- 3:57Speaker 2: sixteen here, and so how you manage the players, how
- 4:04Speaker 2: you utilize your time, how you you try to keep
- 4:09Speaker 2: them as fresh as you can, not only physically but mentally,
- 4:13Speaker 2: but also put forth, you make sure you've got a
- 4:16Speaker 2: good plan that you can execute against. You know, the
- 4:19Speaker 2: further you go into the playoffs, the better quality opponent
- 4:22Speaker 2: you face, and so your quality of play has to
- 4:24Speaker 2: continue to improve. The coaching has to improve, everybody's got
- 4:28Speaker 2: to improve. We've always got to continue to strive to
- 4:30Speaker 2: get better, all on the same time trying to get
- 4:34Speaker 2: everybody fresh and back and putting them in the best
- 4:37Speaker 2: position to have success. And so it's it's a challenge,
- 4:40Speaker 2: but that's the beauty of it, right, That's that's like
- 4:42Speaker 2: to be in this stage and to be it with
- 4:45Speaker 2: this opportunity. You you embrace it and you try to
- 4:49Speaker 2: balance it as best you can so that when the
- 4:51Speaker 2: balls kicked off, you're putting everybody, your staff, your players
- 4:55Speaker 2: in the in the best position to have some success.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And then one final bit of sound from Sark. Even
- 5:03Speaker 1: though each team was allotted thirteen thousand tickets and sold out,
- 5:07Speaker 1: it's a lot, but the game is in, after all,
- 5:09Speaker 1: the state of Texas. It's in Arlington. It's about two
- 5:12Speaker 1: hundred miles from Austin, a lot closer than it is
- 5:14Speaker 1: to Columbus, Ohio. There would be the opportunity for those
- 5:18Speaker 1: to access the secondary ticket market to pick up tickets.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So Sarka was asked, does this feel kind of like
- 5:24Speaker 1: a home game for his team? Yeah?
- 5:25Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, I think both schools get
- 5:28Speaker 2: the same number of tickets. I'm not certain Bianca might
- 5:31Speaker 2: be able to answer that for you, but I think
- 5:32Speaker 2: I think everybody gets the same number of tickets. And
- 5:36Speaker 2: then from that point, who's going to buy the rest?
- 5:39Speaker 3: You know?
- 5:39Speaker 2: And I know we've got a great fan base that travels.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I know Ohio State's got a great fan base that travels.
- 5:45Speaker 1: So I don't know.
- 5:48Speaker 2: If it was at DKR, i'd probably say something that'd
- 5:50Speaker 2: be like a home game, But you know, it is
- 5:53Speaker 2: what it is.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Yeah, And you're throwing the one other factor, the weather,
- 5:59Speaker 1: the possibility. And then you mentioned cam. When we were
- 6:02Speaker 1: first looking examining the ticket market, the secondary ticket market,
- 6:07Speaker 1: it was looking like crazy things like four thousand dollars
- 6:09Speaker 1: for fifty yard line seats even upper deck. We're over
- 6:11Speaker 1: three hundred, well in excess of three hundred dollars, four
- 6:14Speaker 1: hundred dollars the face value including fees, taxes, all, it's
- 6:17Speaker 1: about two hundred and forty bucks per ticket. But I
- 6:21Speaker 1: know the skyrocket, but then I'm hearing and I think
- 6:24Speaker 1: you mentioned it. It's kind of fallen back a little bit,
- 6:27Speaker 1: mainly because I think folks are worried about the weather.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Looking at seatkeet right now, Craig one hundred and fifty
- 6:32Speaker 3: dollars including fees to get it in. Wow, So it's
- 6:35Speaker 3: plumted from the cheapest resell ticket, which is your ear
- 6:38Speaker 3: in the fourth row, you know, or the fourth deck.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Excuse me, So you're steering right at the jumbo tron
- 6:42Speaker 3: but to get in looking at four hundred dollars now
- 6:44Speaker 3: it's one fifty and I'm assuming it's going to continue to.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Drop along with the temperatures, yes or outside, So there
- 6:51Speaker 1: you go, all right. Of course, our coverage will begin
- 6:54Speaker 1: at three thirty on Friday afternoon from Boomer Jacks with
- 7:00Speaker 1: Cam and with my cardball Harge and with Mark Henry.
- 7:03Speaker 1: It's really at I thirty and one fifty seven I
- 7:05Speaker 1: I thirty and Collins, near the entertainment area, not about
- 7:10Speaker 1: a mile from the stadium. It's pretty close, so it
- 7:12Speaker 1: would be a great place to start up.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Now. I know you've had some issue with the name
- 7:16Speaker 3: boomer Jacks because it says, you know Boomer in it
- 7:19Speaker 3: does that mean, like, will you still join us for
- 7:22Speaker 3: our our pregame segment on the show that's still gonna
- 7:24Speaker 3: happen even though we will.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I will be on. I will be on with you regardless.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I might even venture out to Boomer Jacks at some
- 7:31Speaker 1: point during the week. My son's all about Boomers. I've
- 7:34Speaker 1: just kidded with him and said, you won't. You won't
- 7:36Speaker 1: see me stepping there because it's got the name Boomer Now,
- 7:38Speaker 1: I just I get it. I think the owner lives
- 7:41Speaker 1: in Dallas. It's not I don't think it's an okay,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I think he lives in Dallas. But anyway, all right,
- 7:47Speaker 1: So it starts at three thirty, Network pregame at five thirty.
- 7:50Speaker 1: The kickoff is going to be about six forty five
- 7:52Speaker 1: when I'm told, so, there you are, all right? Up
- 7:55Speaker 1: next the guy who saved the day for Texas on defense,
- 8:00Speaker 1: Quin Yours to Matthew Golden on offense. They're in the
- 8:04Speaker 1: end of the first overtime for the Longhorns, and then
- 8:07Speaker 1: in the second overtime to end the game. The play
- 8:10Speaker 1: that ended the game that would be made by Andrew
- 8:14Speaker 1: mccoopa of the former LBJ Jaguar and we'll hear from
- 8:16Speaker 1: him next on sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone.
