- 0:14Speaker 1: yard practice shots. It's a great place to chip and
- 0:16Speaker 1: putt and practice. If you don't have time for a
- 0:19Speaker 1: full round, book your tea time today golf dot Breck
- 0:23Speaker 1: dot org. Golf dot Breck dot org. Big news around
- 0:26Speaker 1: the New Orleans Saints. Nick Underhill and Tron Armstead reporting
- 0:32Speaker 1: that Alvin Kamara and the Saints have agreed to a new,
- 0:35Speaker 1: reworked contract. We do not yet know the terms of
- 0:39Speaker 1: that contract, but it is a This was in and
- 0:43Speaker 1: obviously there were only two ways that this was going
- 0:45Speaker 1: to end for Alvin Kamara. He was not going to
- 0:48Speaker 1: play under the terms the existing terms of his deal.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Remember the Saints used that that seldom used restructuring mechanism
- 1:01Speaker 1: for Kamara a couple of months ago. And I always
- 1:05Speaker 1: say actions speak louder than words. You don't go through
- 1:07Speaker 1: the process of doing that restructure if you plan to
- 1:11Speaker 1: have Alvin Kamara on your roster at his contract number,
- 1:17Speaker 1: because effectively that restructure allowed the Saints to move on
- 1:20Speaker 1: from Kamara without really a financial penalty. Ross Jackson had
- 1:26Speaker 1: a great if you're a total cat nerd Ross Jackson
- 1:29Speaker 1: had a great write up on that at Louisiana sports
- 1:31Speaker 1: dot Net several months ago. If you want to find it,
- 1:33Speaker 1: you can google it. So it was either gonna be
- 1:38Speaker 1: Camara was going to be gone, or he was going
- 1:40Speaker 1: to remain in New Orleans under a new reworked contract,
- 1:43Speaker 1: effectively taking a pay cut and clear my guess is
- 1:46Speaker 1: this new contract is going to be a pay cut
- 1:48Speaker 1: for Alvin Kamara. They certainly aren't paying him more, but
- 1:51Speaker 1: we'll see. And so that answers one of the other
- 1:55Speaker 1: big questions this offseason, which of course were was cam
- 1:59Speaker 1: Jordan's gonna be We now know he is on a
- 2:02Speaker 1: one year deal. Was Camara gonna be back? He is
- 2:07Speaker 1: now on a reworked deal. It's so interesting because New
- 2:11Speaker 1: Orleans have said this often, but for as undisciplined as
- 2:17Speaker 1: they were for years with how they restructured contracts with
- 2:20Speaker 1: dead money and everything, like quote unquote cap hell, when
- 2:24Speaker 1: it comes to free agents, they are uncomfortably rigid, like
- 2:31Speaker 1: they have a number, and that is it, whether it's
- 2:33Speaker 1: what they're gonna pay an incoming free agent, what they're
- 2:35Speaker 1: gonna pay their own players, like their number is in.
- 2:38Speaker 1: They're not going above. And we've seen it guys like
- 2:41Speaker 1: Mark Ingram and Marcus Williams and Alante Taylor at a
- 2:44Speaker 1: year ago, Pulse and Adebo and you know it happened
- 2:48Speaker 1: this year with the Mario Davis. It's it's how the
- 2:50Speaker 1: Saints operate when it comes to dealing with free agents.
- 2:55Speaker 1: So I feel like I know what's gonna happen with
- 3:00Speaker 1: Chris a Lave. So I'm not sitting here like pounding
- 3:05Speaker 1: the table for what the Saints should do, because I
- 3:09Speaker 1: feel like it doesn't matter what I say. I know
- 3:11Speaker 1: what they're gonna do. They're gonna make him one of
- 3:13Speaker 1: the highest paid receivers in the NFL, Like the New
- 3:17Speaker 1: Orleans Saints are going to make Chris a Lave probably
- 3:21Speaker 1: one of the top ten paid highest paid receivers in
- 3:24Speaker 1: the NFL. Spow Track puts his valuation about thirty three
- 3:28Speaker 1: million per year. That will put him right at the
- 3:29Speaker 1: bottom of the top ten. We have JSN Jamar, Chase
- 3:32Speaker 1: Drake London, Jets, Ceedee Lamb, DK Metcalf, Garrett Wilson, Terat McLaurin,
- 3:37Speaker 1: A J. Brown, Amena Saint Brown. That's your top ten,
- 3:40Speaker 1: am Andron Brandon and I both make thirty million a year,
- 3:43Speaker 1: so like ten to eleven right there, so effectively spow track.
- 3:48Speaker 1: When you look at the market value, you think he's
- 3:51Speaker 1: just above that. But in the top ten, I do not.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I do not think Chris A Lave is a top
- 3:56Speaker 1: ten receiver in the NFL. But I'm gonna say this
- 4:00Speaker 1: because I just want to be on the record so
- 4:02Speaker 1: I could be. So when we come back after he
- 4:06Speaker 1: gets his new deal and he plays out this season
- 4:08Speaker 1: or the terms of the contract, we're gonna bookmark this.
- 4:11Speaker 1: We're gonna come back, and I'm either gonna be right
- 4:13Speaker 1: or gonna be wrong. We'll talk about it. If I'm wrong.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I'm wrong, but I think I'm gonna be right. ESPN
- 4:18Speaker 1: is doing this series where they ask NFL coaches and
- 4:20Speaker 1: executives anonymously the best players at each position in the NFL.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And I like this because it's coaches and executives, it's
- 4:28Speaker 1: people like in it every day, and they were given anonymity,
- 4:32Speaker 1: so they're gonna be honest. So today they released the
- 4:35Speaker 1: receiver rankings. Here's your top ten, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson,
- 4:40Speaker 1: JSN three, Hookah, four, Aman, Ross, Saint Brown, Ceedee Lamb,
- 4:45Speaker 1: George Pickens, Nico Collins, aj Brown, DeVante Adams. That's your
- 4:49Speaker 1: top ten. Honorable mention Leak neighbors of course, Mike Evans,
- 4:54Speaker 1: z A. Flowers, Tyreek Hill, Drake London, Jamison Williams. And
- 4:58Speaker 1: then after honorable mention, they have also receiving votes. I'm
- 5:03Speaker 1: going in order, by the way, not changing up the order.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Alec Pierce, T. Higgins, DK Metcalf, Terry McLaurin, Garrett Wilson,
- 5:09Speaker 1: DeVante Smith, Lad McConkie, Brian Thomas, Junior Tiger, Jalen Waddell,
- 5:14Speaker 1: Chris Olave. So these NFL coaches and executives that were
- 5:20Speaker 1: asked anonymously to rank the best receivers in the NFL
- 5:25Speaker 1: have Chris Olave twenty six, which has basically been my
- 5:32Speaker 1: point about a Lave all along. He is not a
- 5:36Speaker 1: true elite game breaking dynamic number one. The top ten
- 5:40Speaker 1: I mentioned Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, JSN, Hookah, Amen, Ross,
- 5:46Speaker 1: Saint Brown, Ceedee Lamb, George Pickens, Nicocollins, AJ Brown, Davante Adams.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Those are dudes that are legit, game altering, game breaking
- 5:55Speaker 1: number ones. Chris Olave is a very good receiver. He
- 5:58Speaker 1: is a very good receiver. I think think he could
- 6:00Speaker 1: be maybe the best number two in the NFL, which
- 6:04Speaker 1: I think is what the Saints are are eyeballing and
- 6:06Speaker 1: bringing in Jordan Tyson. I think they think Jordan Tyson
- 6:10Speaker 1: can be a true legit game breaking number one, and
- 6:13Speaker 1: then Chris Lave becomes the accent piece. But I think
- 6:16Speaker 1: they're gonna payhim thirty million dollars a year, which is
- 6:18Speaker 1: a mistake for the record a Lave's rookie deal. He's
- 6:24Speaker 1: on a four year, nineteen point two million dollar contract,
- 6:26Speaker 1: which is averages out to four point eight million dollars
- 6:28Speaker 1: a year. Okay, Based on that ranking from the NFL
- 6:35Speaker 1: coaches and executives who gave given anonymity to vote on
- 6:39Speaker 1: this thing, they have Chris Lave twenty six the twenty
- 6:45Speaker 1: sixth best receiver in the NFL, which I think is appropriate.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I think that's probably where he is. He's probably somewhere
- 6:51Speaker 1: in the twenties. If you look at the average salary
- 6:57Speaker 1: the average annual value by rank in the NFL. Number
- 7:03Speaker 1: twenty six is Michael Pittman at seventeen and a half
- 7:09Speaker 1: million dollars a year. That looks good to me. That's
- 7:14Speaker 1: about what I would be willing to pay Chris Olave
- 7:18Speaker 1: because he's not at number one. He is not the
- 7:21Speaker 1: guys we mentioned where JSN is getting forty two million
- 7:24Speaker 1: a year. Jamar's at forty point two, Drake London's at
- 7:27Speaker 1: thirty five, jets Is at thirty five, Ceedee Lambs at
- 7:31Speaker 1: thirty four, dk Metcalts at thirty three, all the guys
- 7:33Speaker 1: Garrett Wilson's at thirty two to five, Terry McLaurin at
- 7:36Speaker 1: thirty two, AJ Brown at thirty two, all Amanraz at
- 7:39Speaker 1: thirty all the guys who we talked about on that
- 7:42Speaker 1: list the top ten, which by the way it maps,
- 7:44Speaker 1: doesn't it the top ten receivers on that list in
- 7:47Speaker 1: the NFL that these coaches and executives, but they're the
- 7:51Speaker 1: top ten paid receivers in the NFL because they're the
- 7:54Speaker 1: best guys. Again, I think I know what's gonna happen.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I think the New Orleans Saints gonna pay Chris Olave
- 8:02Speaker 1: like a top ten receiver in the NFL, and I
- 8:03Speaker 1: think that's a mistake. I am just using this instance,
- 8:08Speaker 1: not the rant and Raven screaming yell about what they
- 8:11Speaker 1: should do, because it doesn't matter what I say, They're
- 8:14Speaker 1: gonna do what they want to do, and they've pretty
- 8:15Speaker 1: much illustrated that. I'm just going on the record, so
- 8:20Speaker 1: you know my take, and I agree with a whole
- 8:24Speaker 1: bunch of coaches and executives in the NFL. Let's say
- 8:27Speaker 1: Chris lave is the twenty six best receiver in the league,
- 8:29Speaker 1: which I think is about where he is. You go, man,
- 8:30Speaker 1: but look at his coaches unless year. That's because he
- 8:34Speaker 1: also was at the top of the league in targets.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Because the rest of the receiving corps last year were
- 8:41Speaker 1: dudes that they plucked off a Bourbon street, some of
- 8:44Speaker 1: whom I literally don't even remember. Ronnie Bell, who's Ronnie Bell?
- 8:48Speaker 1: Literally have no idea who that is. Anybody you know
- 8:50Speaker 1: who Ronnie Bell is? Where he came from. I don't
- 8:52Speaker 1: know the Union College. I don't know you like I
- 8:56Speaker 1: don't know how Ronnie Bell is. Doesn't matter. I mean,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you had one guy, so he got all the targets.
- 9:04Speaker 1: You want to watch that productivity plummet this year. Well,
- 9:07Speaker 1: you had Jordan Tyson and Jalen Polk coming off of injury,
- 9:11Speaker 1: and you had Alskar delp at tight end and Noah
- 9:14Speaker 1: Fan at tight end, and another year with Shuck, I mean,
- 9:18Speaker 1: and you get de von Vele back off of injury.
- 9:20Speaker 1: We now, all of a sudden, you got more weapons,
- 9:23Speaker 1: more options for Shuck to throw to, and a lot
- 9:25Speaker 1: of A's targets are gonna go down, So the productivity
- 9:27Speaker 1: is gonna go down. You don't pay that dude like
- 9:28Speaker 1: a top ten receiver in the NFL, I think they're
- 9:30Speaker 1: gonna and I think that's a huge mistake, Just for
- 9:34Speaker 1: the record,
