- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a DM podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:05Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in No Dribble.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Don't tell them all right, Hello, and welcome back to
- 0:22Speaker 2: No Dribble, the podcast where we talk about netball, and
- 0:24Speaker 2: we talk about so much else besides, except there's a
- 0:26Speaker 2: lot of netball to talk about this week. Because it's
- 0:29Speaker 2: like Christmas Eve, it is happening this week. We do
- 0:32Speaker 2: not have to wait anymore. By this time next week,
- 0:35Speaker 2: we'll be seeing positions on ladders, we'll be seeing scores,
- 0:39Speaker 2: we'll be having talks about contentious umpiring decisions and amazing
- 0:44Speaker 2: jumps and where the coxy would have been able to
- 0:46Speaker 2: land something from that high. But anyway, before we get
- 0:49Speaker 2: to any of that, I'm Carolyn Swindell. I'm in Sydney,
- 0:52Speaker 2: and I'm excited to say that I'm sitting side by
- 0:55Speaker 2: side with Catherine.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Cox, who's intrigued about the amazing jumps segment.
- 1:03Speaker 4: And where of course joined from the far North by.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Liz Ellis, And yeah, I'm intrigued too. Catherine can't couldn't
- 1:09Speaker 1: jump out of sight in a dark night, so this
- 1:11Speaker 1: would be interesting.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I just remember telling us in one of the podcasts
- 1:15Speaker 2: that she'd get some air and then think, wow, am
- 1:17Speaker 2: I going to be able to land this thing?
- 1:18Speaker 4: I am so high up in the air.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Just when she said that, I was like, you used
- 1:22Speaker 3: you know, you used to think you could get serious air,
- 1:25Speaker 3: and then you see someone like Shimia Sterling. She takes
- 1:28Speaker 3: her life into her hands every time she gets off
- 1:31Speaker 3: the ground.
- 1:31Speaker 2: It's surprising she doesn't get a nosebleed or faint from
- 1:33Speaker 2: the lack of oxygen up that high, dangerous, dangerous and way.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Three more sleeps sleep back.
- 1:42Speaker 2: It's very exciting. What did you guys do with your
- 1:44Speaker 2: last weekend without netball?
- 1:46Speaker 3: For a while? I made an effort to do nothing.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Oh good.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I felt like I was bored the entire time,
- 1:52Speaker 3: but I kept reminding myself, it's the last time I'm
- 1:54Speaker 3: going to have just to sit still and enjoy for
- 1:57Speaker 3: a minute. So I did. It was good. I literally
- 1:59Speaker 3: had brunch with some mates and did nothing. Aside from that,
- 2:03Speaker 3: watched some bad television. Finished my book. End of it
- 2:06Speaker 3: was boring. I need glass new book, please?
- 2:08Speaker 5: Oh oh what book?
- 2:10Speaker 3: I finished Your Lane, A Dockage's book, but I need
- 2:12Speaker 3: something else. Now.
- 2:13Speaker 4: I read one and it's nonfiction, so you'll like it.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I think it's called A Place I used to work
- 2:17Speaker 2: and it's about Facebook and this woman used to be
- 2:20Speaker 2: one of.
- 2:20Speaker 4: The direct reports.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yes, I've read about Zuckerberg and I bought this because
- 2:25Speaker 2: they've taken legal action to stop her from promoting this book.
- 2:29Speaker 4: And man, it's a good read. And ah, man, we
- 2:34Speaker 4: all need to be vigilant about our privacy and what
- 2:37Speaker 4: we're doing on social media and not put a whole
- 2:40Speaker 4: lot of trust in the processes is what I've got
- 2:43Speaker 4: talk out of this. But it's a great read.
- 2:44Speaker 2: This young woman from New Zealand who got herself, she
- 2:48Speaker 2: got a job at the un and then saw Facebook
- 2:50Speaker 2: quite early and when I really I want to in.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I feel like this is an amazing platform that can
- 2:54Speaker 2: change the world and so very idealistic. And it's been
- 2:58Speaker 2: in there from the get go. I don't know how
- 2:59Speaker 2: this thing has been allowed to be published. Yeah, why
- 3:03Speaker 2: you're reading stuff going Okay, I'm sure that powerful people
- 3:07Speaker 2: have got lawyers looking at this.
- 3:08Speaker 4: But I think it's Sarah Winn Williams is her name.
- 3:10Speaker 4: But it's a great read, really easy.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Finished it, finished it yes, and where is it at home?
- 3:15Speaker 2: It's on my kindle so sorry, yeah, the proper book,
- 3:20Speaker 2: do you like? I like the kindle because I can
- 3:22Speaker 2: read at any time of the night and not disturb anymore.
- 3:25Speaker 1: No.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Well, I did discover that with the old school books.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I was like, I need to get one of those
- 3:28Speaker 3: lights that you clip on the book. Let's turned into
- 3:32Speaker 3: a thing.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I got a birthday coming up. I'll make note of that.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Hoop that down, Elizabeth. How was your weekend?
- 3:42Speaker 1: My weekend the last one without netball for a while.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I tried to cram fifteen weekends worth into one weekend,
- 3:47Speaker 1: which was top.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Rookie Mistakes, Rookie Era.
- 3:52Speaker 1: And I was supposed to have austin to my son's
- 3:54Speaker 1: birthday next Friday, but I'll be in Melbourne for a
- 3:57Speaker 1: Netball Australian Board meeting. So it is a bit of
- 4:00Speaker 1: a habit I have of not being around on his birthday.
- 4:04Speaker 1: So I thought, right, I'll get in early and we,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I said to will pretend that last.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Friday is your birthday.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So I had it all set up for a couple
- 4:12Speaker 1: of his mates to catch the bus home and then
- 4:13Speaker 1: their parents were going to come over for a dinner
- 4:15Speaker 1: along with my mum and my sister, and then it
- 4:18Speaker 1: poured with rain and we started to get all these
- 4:20Speaker 1: flood mornings. So I was like, oh gosh, okay, so
- 4:23Speaker 1: we canceled that. So then we moved that to last night,
- 4:25Speaker 1: and I took the boys to the local water slide
- 4:28Speaker 1: yesterday Balino for three hours, and that was fifty bucks.
- 4:32Speaker 5: It cost me for three of them to run and
- 4:34Speaker 5: run and round.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I've been on those. That's just it's at the local pool,
- 4:38Speaker 4: isn't it. And there's a water side. Yeah, it's it's incredible.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Yeah yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 1: So I was like, gosha, I love living in the country.
- 4:47Speaker 1: There's like no lineups. The kids just ran it, so
- 4:49Speaker 1: it was great. But while I was there, speaking of books,
- 4:52Speaker 1: I finished a book and you know when when you
- 4:54Speaker 1: finish a book that's got a bit of a weird ending,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I just felt really bereft and I just sat there
- 5:00Speaker 1: and Austin ran up and he goes, Mummy, you're okay,
- 5:02Speaker 1: and I'm like, no, I just finished his book and
- 5:04Speaker 1: it's just I don't know, I don't know what you
- 5:06Speaker 1: think about it. And I started googling, like I found
- 5:09Speaker 1: some Reddit discussions around it. And I was like, okay, right, okay,
- 5:13Speaker 1: that's probably what the ending means. And because it was
- 5:15Speaker 1: also a bit sort of ambiguous. If anyone's read it,
- 5:18Speaker 1: it's called The Beasting by Paul Murray. It's an Irish novel,
- 5:21Speaker 1: and it's.
- 5:22Speaker 4: I've read that one.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And did you get to the t without
- 5:26Speaker 1: without any spoilers?
- 5:27Speaker 5: Did you just get to the end and go I
- 5:29Speaker 5: don't know what to think? Yeah?
- 5:30Speaker 4: And I did.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I did find a few times in that book I
- 5:33Speaker 2: thought I reckon, we could have moved this along a
- 5:36Speaker 2: little bit faster too, so but it was an amazing book.
- 5:40Speaker 2: But yeah, I had that same reaction at the end.
- 5:41Speaker 2: It's like, Okay, what's happened there?
- 5:45Speaker 3: Right, it's nothing to you. Sorry, it's the authors in you,
- 5:49Speaker 3: in both of you.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Well, you'll be doing that soon now that you're on
- 5:52Speaker 2: a reading gig. I think you're just minutes away from
- 5:55Speaker 2: publishing your own book.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Yeah, my kid's book is not far away. Hey, Elizabeth,
- 5:58Speaker 3: can I take you back to the inviting the parents
- 6:01Speaker 3: over for dinner when you have the birthday? So? Would
- 6:05Speaker 3: you only do that if you like the parents? Say that? What?
- 6:09Speaker 3: I know? Maybe this is the thing, right, sometimes the
- 6:12Speaker 3: kids bring home a friend and you don't necessarily get
- 6:15Speaker 3: on with the parents. Do you nurture those relationships?
- 6:19Speaker 2: What I mean, you're all like flat out now it
- 6:23Speaker 2: maintained lines of communication with them, because I think that's valuable.
- 6:26Speaker 2: But you know, you're not going to be friends with everyone,
- 6:29Speaker 2: so I don't think.
- 6:30Speaker 3: That you have to socialize with people who No, but
- 6:33Speaker 3: do you try to break up the friendship with the kids,
- 6:34Speaker 3: Oh no, no, okay.
- 6:36Speaker 1: No, But you know, we got looked after by one
- 6:38Speaker 1: of Evelyn's teachers. She was in I think first class,
- 6:42Speaker 1: and she sat Evelyn next to this little girl and
- 6:46Speaker 1: she said to me, I'm going to sit these two together.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I think they'll be really good friends. Because everyone hadn't
- 6:50Speaker 1: quite nailed who her close friends were going to be,
- 6:53Speaker 1: she was sort of floating around, and this teachers that
- 6:55Speaker 1: I'm going to sit Evelyn next to this little girl.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I reckon they'll get along really well, and I reckon
- 6:59Speaker 1: you'll like her parents. Anyway, Evelyn and this little girl
- 7:03Speaker 1: are stills.
- 7:04Speaker 5: And we adore them. We adore her parents.
- 7:08Speaker 1: And so when Austin started school, I sort of directed
- 7:12Speaker 1: him towards the boys. Who's there's a little so the kids,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I mean, can you be his friends? And then there's
- 7:22Speaker 1: another little boy whose parents I really like, so yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 1: you don't break up the friendships, but I sort of have.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I made sure that he knew boys who I liked
- 7:33Speaker 1: and who I like their parents before he went into school,
- 7:35Speaker 1: so he could be friends with the parents. With those
- 7:38Speaker 1: little boys, it doesn't matter what It's.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Important, isn't it. One of the one of my best mates,
- 7:45Speaker 3: one of the school moms. The kids. Actually they're in
- 7:48Speaker 3: the same year, both girls, but they are too similar
- 7:51Speaker 3: and they butt heads constantly, and we are forcing it.
- 7:55Speaker 3: You too will become friends because we are friends, and
- 7:58Speaker 3: it just makes it so much easier, so we keep
- 8:00Speaker 3: putting them together. It all someday it'll blossom. Right now,
- 8:03Speaker 3: they're just that.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I actually think it's it's it's easier when you're not
- 8:07Speaker 2: that close to your really good friend, your kids good
- 8:10Speaker 2: friends parents, because inevitably those friendships go through ebbs and flows.
- 8:14Speaker 4: And we've had that in the past where we used.
- 8:16Speaker 2: To have family holidays with people and then the kids
- 8:19Speaker 2: had a bit of a falling out and it's like,
- 8:21Speaker 2: we can't do that to you anymore.
- 8:23Speaker 4: And this was my son and a female friend.
- 8:25Speaker 2: It's like, but we're still really good friends with the parents,
- 8:27Speaker 2: but it's like we just stopped doing anything as families
- 8:30Speaker 2: together and whatever, and it's sort of it's just a bit.
- 8:33Speaker 2: It's a bit awkward when you are tighter than the kids.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's actually very good.
- 8:38Speaker 1: No, no, not at all, Like Catherine and I try
- 8:40Speaker 1: to do that with Harper and Austin like that, and
- 8:43Speaker 1: every time we tell them that they're getting married, they
- 8:45Speaker 1: look at us like we're mad, Like, no, no, you
- 8:47Speaker 1: too aren't going to get a.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Choice in this.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Well, you need to give your kids something to talk
- 8:51Speaker 2: about in therapy later on. So yeah, that's you're doing
- 8:54Speaker 2: them a favor.
- 8:55Speaker 5: And they will be married exactly.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So we're now a child trafficking podcast. Last week it
- 9:03Speaker 2: was nutrition.
- 9:04Speaker 5: We are what's the word?
- 9:05Speaker 3: We're going back to old school.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Arrangement, Austin and Harper. If you're listening, reach.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Out to me.
- 9:16Speaker 4: It can't make you do anything until you're an adult.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Hey, how was your weekend? Speaking of adult time.
- 9:22Speaker 2: My weekend was wonderful. I went to Melbourne with some girlfriends,
- 9:27Speaker 2: couple from Queensland and one who's down there in Melbourne
- 9:29Speaker 2: and We stayed in an apartment in the city and
- 9:32Speaker 2: we went to all these amazing bars. We did spend
- 9:35Speaker 2: twenty six dollars on each cocktail we had, though, and
- 9:37Speaker 2: it's like, God, when did that happen? That's insane.
- 9:40Speaker 4: But Melbourne's back. Melbourne is amazing now.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Like for several years, it was just kind of struggling
- 9:47Speaker 2: back to life. But it was just incredible. But there
- 9:49Speaker 2: were a few disturbing things that I discovered. Well, one
- 9:54Speaker 2: disturbing thing that I discovered. Are you familiar with the
- 9:57Speaker 2: Magic coffee?
- 9:59Speaker 3: Now?
- 9:59Speaker 2: I thought it would drugs in it or something. No,
- 10:01Speaker 2: this is just something they've made up in Melbourne, which
- 10:03Speaker 2: makes me worry that they've spent too much time in
- 10:05Speaker 2: their own company over the last few years with COVID.
- 10:07Speaker 2: But it's a coffee that is only in Melbourne, and
- 10:10Speaker 2: it's called a Magic or a Melbourne Magic. It's a
- 10:13Speaker 2: double rostretto shot with a small amount of textured milk,
- 10:18Speaker 2: served in a one hundred and sixty milk cup. So
- 10:20Speaker 2: I said, well, what's the difference between that and the makiato.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Makiado is an espress saying marked with a small amount
- 10:24Speaker 2: of steamed milk or foam. But I've never heard of this.
- 10:27Speaker 2: But my friend ordered a magic coffee and I just
- 10:30Speaker 2: looked at her and laughed the way to knew immediately
- 10:33Speaker 2: what she was talking about.
- 10:34Speaker 4: And it's quite I then.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Checked at several other cafes in Melbourne, and this is
- 10:39Speaker 2: a thing in Melbourne.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Did you try it?
- 10:41Speaker 3: No? So, what's textured milk?
- 10:44Speaker 4: Frothy type stuff?
- 10:45Speaker 3: Yeah, so it sounds like it's curdled.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Yeah, well yeah, I wasn't gonna.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I was going to try it, but then I'd had
- 10:50Speaker 2: too much caffeine and it's like and so I never
- 10:52Speaker 2: really got around to it.
- 10:53Speaker 4: But I just thought, this is a whole other language.
- 10:56Speaker 3: You're grunting over there if you had one.
- 10:58Speaker 5: M No, but.
- 10:59Speaker 6: I've heard all about it.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I know about the Melbourne coffee.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Who have you heard about it?
- 11:03Speaker 3: Trump?
- 11:03Speaker 4: Why are they talking of it?
- 11:05Speaker 3: Okay, it's everywhere.
- 11:07Speaker 4: It bothers me.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Oh, I want to get there and try it. Really,
- 11:10Speaker 3: I can't believe you didn't try it.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I think Melbourne's Jump the Shark here. This sounds very
- 11:15Speaker 2: Barren Bay to me.
- 11:17Speaker 5: You know, in Barron Bay it's not textured milk.
- 11:19Speaker 1: If you're audio coffee, it's oat milk or macadamia milk
- 11:22Speaker 1: or nut milk.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Milk with a y, which I asked the baristas downstairs.
- 11:27Speaker 2: They don't like the other milks. They don't froth as well.
- 11:30Speaker 2: But anyway, yeah, I quite liked you know that over
- 11:34Speaker 2: the last couple of decades or so, because Sydney used
- 11:37Speaker 2: to be the wanker capital of Australia and then it's
- 11:39Speaker 2: become Barron Bay. But Melbourne making a massive play to
- 11:42Speaker 2: get that mantle.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Well, if anyone's going to do something in the coffee area,
- 11:47Speaker 3: it's them. Surely they're going to be the front runners.
- 11:50Speaker 3: They do have statistically probably the best coffee.
- 11:53Speaker 2: It's not my experience this weekend, really, oh Man noted,
- 11:58Speaker 2: I'm dec I don't want to get there, and that's
- 12:00Speaker 2: worth trying because I've got my finger on the pulse there.
- 12:02Speaker 2: The other thing, remember your segment the other day. I
- 12:04Speaker 2: was today years old when I found out this one.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I discovered a couple of decades ago, but I was
- 12:08Speaker 2: there when my friend had this realization. We went for
- 12:11Speaker 2: a run around the turn and growing up in Brisbane
- 12:14Speaker 2: we'd always watched carols by candlelight and whatever, and it's
- 12:16Speaker 2: on at the Sydney My Music Bowl, which I always
- 12:18Speaker 2: thought was in Sydney. But it's Sydney as in s
- 12:21Speaker 2: I d Ny. Why the Sydney My Music Bowl is
- 12:23Speaker 2: in Melbourne And we were walking past it and I.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Said that story ha ha haa, how stupid am I?
- 12:29Speaker 2: And she just had this look on her face that
- 12:30Speaker 2: it's like I am this moment learning that the Sydney is.
- 12:38Speaker 5: That.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Yeah it is the Yeah.
- 12:40Speaker 3: I was today years old. Did you know that, Elizabeth?
- 12:43Speaker 1: But I think it's because i'd google it once because
- 12:45Speaker 1: I saw how it was spelled and I thought they've
- 12:46Speaker 1: spelt Sydney wrong and then I went, oh, it's not Sydney.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So I probably a few years ago, but it was
- 12:55Speaker 1: the same thing. I think if you're not from Melbourne,
- 12:57Speaker 1: you don't get it right.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Well, if going to call something Sydney in yeah, but
- 13:02Speaker 2: can I ask you to then? Anyway, if you thought
- 13:04Speaker 2: it was in Sydney, given that you two live in Sydney,
- 13:07Speaker 2: where did you think it was?
- 13:09Speaker 3: Well, I actually thought it was in the domain. I
- 13:11Speaker 3: thought it was that.
- 13:12Speaker 4: I did too.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you see, because you hear there's Carols by Candle
- 13:15Speaker 2: and the domain and then all I knew was that
- 13:17Speaker 2: it wasn't in Brisbane, so it's like, oh, it must
- 13:20Speaker 2: be exciting because it's not in Britain.
- 13:21Speaker 5: There's not a music bowl. It's just a bit of grass.
- 13:24Speaker 3: It's nice to hang out there. I haven't been to
- 13:28Speaker 3: the Carols ever.
- 13:29Speaker 1: But you've been to the domain, haven't you. Oh no,
- 13:31Speaker 1: I'm back this a bit more. You've been to the domain.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I feel like I've been to parts of the domain.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I don't feel like I have domain over the domain.
- 13:39Speaker 2: I don't feel to me the domain is like Merrick
- 13:41Speaker 2: Phil It's like I understand that part, and I understand
- 13:43Speaker 2: that part. I didn't understand how they work together. And
- 13:45Speaker 2: there might be a whole lot more that I don't
- 13:46Speaker 2: know about.
- 13:47Speaker 3: I think the last time I was in the domain
- 13:48Speaker 3: was a midnight all concert, but it was off the
- 13:50Speaker 3: back of a long lunch that turned into a pub
- 13:52Speaker 3: crawl on the way there, so I could have been
- 13:55Speaker 3: up your domain. I don't know where I ended up.
- 14:00Speaker 3: I do know it was in the domain, so I
- 14:01Speaker 3: wasn't paying attention to balls or nobody actually.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Walked across the domain. When I was in Sydney escaping
- 14:06Speaker 1: the cyclone because I took my kids to the art gallery,
- 14:08Speaker 1: and they don't like me anymore taking them to the
- 14:11Speaker 1: art gallery.
- 14:11Speaker 5: So there you go.
- 14:12Speaker 1: But when I was a little girl, I remember my
- 14:15Speaker 1: parents used to take us to the art gallery a bit,
- 14:18Speaker 1: and we'd go to the domain and have a picnic.
- 14:19Speaker 1: And there used to be on a Sunday afternoon all
- 14:23Speaker 1: these people who bring literally a soapbox down and they
- 14:26Speaker 1: it was called like debater's Corner.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Or something speaker's corner, I think.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Yeah, and you could.
- 14:32Speaker 1: They'd stand there on their boxes and they'd pick a
- 14:34Speaker 1: subject and they would start to talk about it. It
- 14:37Speaker 1: was like it was like the analog version of Twitter, right,
- 14:40Speaker 1: so they'd be putting.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Their opinions, but more than one hundred and sixty characters, yeah.
- 14:47Speaker 1: The nineteen seventies version of social media. And they'd stand
- 14:52Speaker 1: like twenty meters apart of it, so they couldn't they
- 14:54Speaker 1: didn't interrupt each other. But you could go and stand
- 14:57Speaker 1: there and listen, and then you could debate them if
- 14:59Speaker 1: you wish. I remember sitting there listening as a little girl.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I would have been like ten, and Dad was like,
- 15:05Speaker 1: go and go and listen to that person, and go
- 15:07Speaker 1: and listen to that person.
- 15:08Speaker 5: It was fascinating.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Oh, I do like the idea of someone debating you
- 15:11Speaker 3: that is actually looking at you in the either, and
- 15:13Speaker 3: I'm doing it behind the security papless.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but I will point out you were at the
- 15:18Speaker 2: domain when you were ten years old, possibly even earlier.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I did not set foot in the domain until I
- 15:25Speaker 2: was in my late twenties, so you know, forgive me
- 15:28Speaker 2: for not understand King George Square in Brisbane.
- 15:31Speaker 5: I know that you're all over it, yeah, whereas I
- 15:33Speaker 5: didn't get into until I was in my twenties. So
- 15:36Speaker 5: there you go.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Oh, there we go. Have I been to King anyway?
- 15:39Speaker 4: It's right near Chant Hall in Brisbane?
- 15:42Speaker 3: Should we call it netball? Because we're just like fluffing around?
- 15:46Speaker 4: I think we should talk about some netball.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm actually more excited about chipping? Yep. Yeah,
- 15:53Speaker 3: it's exciting, very important questions. I've been thinking this week
- 15:57Speaker 3: about how I do my tips?
- 15:59Speaker 4: Are these to the Valor Dribbler's Tip in comp which
- 16:01Speaker 4: starts this week.
- 16:02Speaker 3: It is, of course I don't tip with anyone else
- 16:05Speaker 3: that good?
- 16:05Speaker 2: Just's I feel so special. We haven't even had the
- 16:08Speaker 2: conversation whether we're exclusive, but we are? Are we that's
- 16:10Speaker 2: where we are.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's a moment. Not a good one.
- 16:15Speaker 3: That's a moment. But I have I need to think
- 16:18Speaker 3: about this because I'm feeling a bit more pressure off
- 16:20Speaker 3: the back of Gaudy Vicious last week saying that she's
- 16:24Speaker 3: going to use the staticians statisticians. What did I say, statisticians? Statisticians?
- 16:30Speaker 3: You can use staticians to people say that. I remember
- 16:32Speaker 3: you were going to say Darryl Milton up one of
- 16:34Speaker 3: the Dribblers as your statisician. So, yes, that's right, statistician. Yeah,
- 16:38Speaker 3: they don't get paid staticians. No statisticians do.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Though, Okay, yeah, but I don't know. It's like Gordy,
- 16:45Speaker 2: you know, she's got science behind her.
- 16:47Speaker 3: That is pressure, it is, But it's put the pressure
- 16:52Speaker 3: on me because I don't want to lose and pay
- 16:55Speaker 3: for this lunch because it's going to be a big one.
- 16:58Speaker 3: So I'm wondering how long I leave my tips in
- 17:01Speaker 3: case information changes on the way.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Well, you can change them. You can put them in
- 17:06Speaker 4: and then change them. Yeah, so you can.
- 17:08Speaker 3: I don't think you should be allowed.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Why isn't it better you put your tips in and
- 17:12Speaker 2: you go. Now, I won't forget and then if you
- 17:14Speaker 2: have an opportunity and you think I want to change it,
- 17:16Speaker 2: that you can so it tip games are it's like
- 17:20Speaker 2: a game by game basis, and tips for that particular
- 17:23Speaker 2: game close at zero minutes before the game, so when
- 17:25Speaker 2: the game starts you can't tip it anymore. But if
- 17:28Speaker 2: you miss the first game of around you can still
- 17:30Speaker 2: tip games two, three and four you can and you
- 17:33Speaker 2: can put your tips in. Now you've put your tips
- 17:35Speaker 2: in for the entire season. Now if you're worried that
- 17:37Speaker 2: you might be a forgetter, and then you can go
- 17:40Speaker 2: in and change them as many times.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Oh okay, I like that. That takes a bit of pressure.
- 17:44Speaker 4: There is a question.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I don't know whether you heard last week, but we
- 17:46Speaker 2: were hearing from the chair of Netball Australia who has
- 17:48Speaker 2: some questions about whether she should be tipping, and she
- 17:52Speaker 2: was going to look at a method and which I
- 17:54Speaker 2: think is terrific and it's a nice little control for us.
- 17:57Speaker 2: So let's cross over to the check of Netball Australia
- 18:01Speaker 2: for an update.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Well, thank you, Yes, So I will be tipping home
- 18:05Speaker 1: teams only.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Okay all the way through.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And I'm actually I'm going to go in this week
- 18:10Speaker 1: and do my tips and then they're done.
- 18:12Speaker 5: You can lock me off.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Oh that's great, that's well done. Actually it's very efficient too.
- 18:19Speaker 5: Can you change it? I'm like, who's got time to
- 18:20Speaker 5: change change the tips?
- 18:22Speaker 1: So I'll just go in and just put all home
- 18:23Speaker 1: teams and then and then there is no suggestion of
- 18:26Speaker 1: bias or in propriety, and and yes home teams only.
- 18:31Speaker 3: You've got the Tea Birds, then the MAVs, the Giants,
- 18:34Speaker 3: and the fee.
- 18:35Speaker 5: I'm not unhappy with that.
- 18:38Speaker 3: It's a really hard one to tip.
- 18:40Speaker 5: Actually the first round.
- 18:41Speaker 3: I need to know who's in and who's out. There's
- 18:43Speaker 3: rumors of people in and out, and.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I think I've gone home teams except the Vixens.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I reckon.
- 18:52Speaker 2: As I said to you, I think the Vixens were
- 18:55Speaker 2: playing playing their cards close to their.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Chest in the Team Girls Cup. We'll see. I'm excited.
- 19:02Speaker 3: There's a lot of good ones there, but I think
- 19:04Speaker 3: I'm particularly excited about the Fever Swifts game, the last
- 19:08Speaker 3: one of the round. W A.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that's going to be very exciting.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Get you two to do a little bit of like
- 19:14Speaker 1: full season tipping. I won't do it because I don't
- 19:17Speaker 1: want to. I can't tip the home games for this,
- 19:19Speaker 1: but who do you think the top four will be
- 19:21Speaker 1: at the end of the season, and then we might
- 19:23Speaker 1: come back and look at this.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Mine's the Vixen's, the Ta Birds, the Fever and the Swifts. Yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 3: that's mine too.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I've got to say, MAVs looked bloody good. But I
- 19:31Speaker 2: reckon they're going to come fifth.
- 19:33Speaker 4: There we go. I've given you do I have to do.
- 19:35Speaker 4: I have to put them in order. I can't put
- 19:37Speaker 4: them in order.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Stacy Marinkovic though, I saw her at the season launch
- 19:41Speaker 3: we had on Thursday last week, Elizabeth, and she said
- 19:43Speaker 3: she was at the recent Firebirds Ta Birds game and
- 19:48Speaker 3: that was the one that the Firebirds didn't they Yeah,
- 19:52Speaker 3: they beat them by two, But Stacy said they looked
- 19:55Speaker 3: very very good because at TGC they did not look good. Yeah, right,
- 19:59Speaker 3: And I thought that enough time to get that mojo happening.
- 20:03Speaker 3: But apparently they were really good. So now I'm nervous.
- 20:06Speaker 3: I don't know who to tip about the fire Beds
- 20:07Speaker 3: and the Giants.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I think any team that's got Mary Trelock in it
- 20:12Speaker 1: is gonna be a bit dangerous.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Yep.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I look at her and I am so and grace
- 20:17Speaker 1: and working and I'm so thankful I'm retired. Can you
- 20:20Speaker 1: imagine me a goalkeeper having them and then you just
- 20:23Speaker 1: get your head up and you've got Janille Foulonimba or
- 20:26Speaker 1: oh god, any any one of a number and you're
- 20:29Speaker 1: a little telling at you like like Sophie spher Garvin,
- 20:33Speaker 1: there's Sophie Dwyer, there's Joe Harten, like, well, it actually
- 20:38Speaker 1: makes me feel a bit like I feel a bit
- 20:41Speaker 1: anxious about it.
- 20:42Speaker 5: I don't know if you guys.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Saw the other day the Vixen's posted some footage of
- 20:46Speaker 1: Sharial mc mahon shooting like long range shots and she
- 20:49Speaker 1: just nailed like five of them in a row. That
- 20:52Speaker 1: seriously gave me a PTSD. I was like, oh, oh,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I remember that. So now I look at these amazing
- 20:59Speaker 1: shooters and every team like if you're a goalkeeper, there
- 21:02Speaker 1: is not you don't get a week off, Like you
- 21:04Speaker 1: don't go oh, I've got them this week, and I'm
- 21:07Speaker 1: okay against her, like every single week it's Carrakna and
- 21:12Speaker 1: or oh gosh.
- 21:13Speaker 3: And you're a teeny tiny purse compared to these guys. Yeah,
- 21:17Speaker 3: well yeah, compared to half the defenders now like you
- 21:20Speaker 3: were tea back in the day.
- 21:21Speaker 5: I've been playing wing defense or center.
- 21:23Speaker 1: It's just in the local Z grade competition if I
- 21:26Speaker 1: was playing now, because.
- 21:26Speaker 5: I am not fast enough for either of those positions.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Do we know does Cherrelle practice her shooting regularly like
- 21:34Speaker 2: or is she just is it so programmed into her
- 21:36Speaker 2: muscle memory that she can go Yeah, I can slot
- 21:39Speaker 2: that thing without I haven't touched a ball in a
- 21:41Speaker 2: decade and no warries.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I can't imagine she's practicing because she's got no reason to.
- 21:45Speaker 3: She's not down at the courts unless Ruby, her daughter's playing.
- 21:48Speaker 3: But I shoot someone, I'm at kids training just when
- 21:51Speaker 3: they're playing stuff, and they most of them go in.
- 21:55Speaker 3: It is a bit of muscle memory. Yeah, for sure.
- 21:57Speaker 2: It's pressure though, isn't it. So why did you you
- 21:59Speaker 2: saw her loot five in a row? Was this on
- 22:01Speaker 2: TV or something?
- 22:02Speaker 1: I was just on their social media like that was
- 22:04Speaker 1: showing she was shooting from where the super shots from
- 22:07Speaker 1: and she was like a metronome, just boom boom boom.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Oh go Hey, speaking of the super shot, how's the
- 22:15Speaker 3: UK Super League and the New Zealand A and Z
- 22:19Speaker 3: Championship both introducing the super shot. So that's really interesting,
- 22:24Speaker 3: isn't it off the back of you know, so many
- 22:27Speaker 3: people kind of doubting it was ever going to work
- 22:29Speaker 3: when we introduced it. But I think the UK one
- 22:32Speaker 3: is longer, is it? So it's not the same distance
- 22:35Speaker 3: as ours, it's the fast five distance, so it is
- 22:39Speaker 3: further away, which I think is where our should be. Right,
- 22:42Speaker 3: a little bit harder than what it currently is at
- 22:43Speaker 3: the moment, but interesting and bringing in all those rules.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Just been watching our product and how good it.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Is the game evolving. I think that's wonderful.
- 22:52Speaker 2: It was so interesting to watch the tests after watching
- 22:55Speaker 2: the Cup and Apple season last year and go, oh,
- 22:57Speaker 2: that's right, we don't have supershots here.
- 22:59Speaker 4: You can only just get score one at a time.
- 23:01Speaker 4: And oh okay, well that gets that.
- 23:03Speaker 2: That is a different game, isn't it changes up your strategy?
- 23:07Speaker 5: Yeah? And you forget how long the supershot has been around?
- 23:09Speaker 3: For how long has it been for five years?
- 23:11Speaker 5: Right?
- 23:12Speaker 1: So they've had five years to look at the super
- 23:14Speaker 1: shot in super netbaw So.
- 23:17Speaker 3: When did it's what year did it start?
- 23:19Speaker 1: Twenty moved together for me twenty twenty. Remember we were
- 23:23Speaker 1: in the in the Hub in Brisbane and the.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Whole lock up.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, the hub in the Hub.
- 23:29Speaker 4: The hub which was like schoolies' it was.
- 23:33Speaker 5: For the plays.
- 23:33Speaker 2: It was absolutely no, not so much for them. They've
- 23:37Speaker 2: had their schoolies more recently, so they don't get another
- 23:40Speaker 2: one yet. I do want to just say though, before
- 23:42Speaker 2: we move off the Valor Dribbler's tipping comp that we
- 23:45Speaker 2: are obviously still open for registrations. But Queensland, Queensland, we've
- 23:49Speaker 2: worked it out now we can't. We can have you
- 23:54Speaker 2: participate in the game. We can't take money from you
- 23:57Speaker 2: for it, and nor can you win any prizes. But
- 23:59Speaker 2: for those queens and As who would like to participate
- 24:01Speaker 2: just for the fun, we would love to have you
- 24:03Speaker 2: participate just for the fun. So if you want to
- 24:06Speaker 2: do that, jump on our website no dribble, dot com
- 24:08Speaker 2: dot AU, send me an email letting me know that
- 24:11Speaker 2: that's what you want and what your postcode is, and
- 24:14Speaker 2: then I will send you the link that you can register.
- 24:17Speaker 2: So again, you're registering to tip for love. You can't
- 24:21Speaker 2: win any of the prizes, but you're also doing it
- 24:24Speaker 2: for free. So this is our workaround for because we
- 24:26Speaker 2: want to be we want to have everyone if we can. So, yeah,
- 24:29Speaker 2: so please jump on. Well, we'll put something on the
- 24:31Speaker 2: social media about this too.
- 24:32Speaker 3: So the trash talk is the best part about it,
- 24:34Speaker 3: now that it's not the prizes. No, that's right.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I was thinking, I've noticed that there's quite a few
- 24:39Speaker 2: There's quite a few Carolins and a Caroline. There's a
- 24:42Speaker 2: number of Elizabeths, there's quite a few Catherines, and quite
- 24:45Speaker 2: a few Susans. I think I might set up a
- 24:47Speaker 2: group and we can see not just amongst us, but
- 24:51Speaker 2: amongst the Susans and the Elizabeths and the Catherines and
- 24:54Speaker 2: the Carolins, who is statistically superior at hipping. So let
- 24:58Speaker 2: us represent our names. Yeah, so I'm going to be inviting.
- 25:02Speaker 2: And you know, if there's a Caroline and a Caroline, yep,
- 25:05Speaker 2: there's a Catterine with a cake. And also there's a
- 25:07Speaker 2: number of variations of do.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I get Kates as well? Kate's buying large smart people know.
- 25:14Speaker 4: It's quite a lot though, isn't it.
- 25:15Speaker 2: And Elizabeth with an S obviously, and I just thought
- 25:19Speaker 2: that might be a.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Bit of fun.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, there we go.
- 25:23Speaker 3: All right, and then what does the superior being win
- 25:26Speaker 3: at the end?
- 25:27Speaker 5: Glory.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Glory, yeah, glory.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Maybe if like which ever name wins, If a Dribbler
- 25:33Speaker 1: has a child, we get to name the next child
- 25:36Speaker 1: after that name.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Yes, disclaimer, that's in that you couldn't reads.
- 25:52Speaker 2: We're not interested in taking your firstborn, because we've all
- 25:55Speaker 2: looked after enough babies.
- 25:56Speaker 4: But we want to name your.
- 25:58Speaker 1: First The name will go in order of who finishes where,
- 26:01Speaker 1: so it'll be like Carolyn, Susan, Elizabeth or something like that.
- 26:07Speaker 2: I imagine filling out the forms.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Do you know years ago after the ninety one well
- 26:13Speaker 1: you would remember this Caroline. After the nineteen ninety one
- 26:16Speaker 1: I think World Cup when Rugby World Cup, when Australia won,
- 26:20Speaker 1: somebody named had a son and named him the first
- 26:23Speaker 1: name of every player that was on the field for
- 26:26Speaker 1: Australia in that team, and there was a story about
- 26:30Speaker 1: it and Nick Pharr Jones.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Men are idiots.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I'm sure he found out about it. He must have
- 26:35Speaker 1: been the team It might have been the captain and
- 26:38Speaker 1: he was a lawyer, so he wrote to this kid
- 26:39Speaker 1: and said, congratulations, but when you're of age, if you
- 26:43Speaker 1: want to change your name, come and see me and
- 26:45Speaker 1: I'll I'm sure it was Nick kar Jones. But yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 1: her parents were a massive rugby fan. So hopefully we'll
- 26:54Speaker 1: get some no Dribblers fans procreating soon and we get
- 26:56Speaker 1: to name the child.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Yeah, great, beautiful, fantastic.
- 27:00Speaker 3: They could have already done that. They might be well
- 27:02Speaker 3: and truly on their way to cooking it.
- 27:04Speaker 4: That's true, that's true, could drop any day, It could now.
- 27:07Speaker 3: And where you get the first right of refusal.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Something I think that the players, certainly the center court
- 27:13Speaker 2: players would be very excited about that we haven't announced
- 27:16Speaker 2: publicly yet is that I will be having a sun
- 27:20Speaker 2: Corp super Netbal Wing Defense of the Week throughout the
- 27:23Speaker 2: season and then which will obviously lead to us anointing
- 27:28Speaker 2: the wing defense of the Year in the camp. I'm
- 27:31Speaker 2: going to get some equally unqualified people to help me
- 27:35Speaker 2: in the nominations process because I just feel like we
- 27:37Speaker 2: need to give the wing defenses more love.
- 27:39Speaker 3: So this is legit. This is like actual Suncorp super Netball,
- 27:43Speaker 3: actual wing defenses.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Yeah, when you say it's legit, I'll be watching the games,
- 27:49Speaker 4: the proper legit games with the proper legit players who
- 27:53Speaker 4: put on the proper legit WD patch. But that's where
- 27:56Speaker 4: the legitimacy stops, obviously.
- 27:58Speaker 3: So whenever you say we're going to do a competition
- 28:01Speaker 3: with wing defenses, in my head, I think it's a joke.
- 28:04Speaker 2: So I'm just like all the mascots going in for
- 28:06Speaker 2: one another. No, it's not a cage fight. But I
- 28:09Speaker 2: I just want to and question. You might not the
- 28:12Speaker 2: question without notice, so you might not know when Amy
- 28:15Speaker 2: Parmenter was sent off for two minutes in the Team
- 28:18Speaker 2: Girls carp Yes, they dropped the wing attack, not the
- 28:20Speaker 2: wing defense, didn't they when they played the best they played?
- 28:24Speaker 2: I reckon they dropped the wing attack. I could be wrong.
- 28:27Speaker 3: I should have booked this center, wasn't she So they
- 28:29Speaker 3: had to move her out of there? Obviously? Yeah, I
- 28:31Speaker 3: don't can't remember. All right, Well that's another that's accurate.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Anyway, So get excited some super netball wing defenses because.
- 28:42Speaker 4: You could win nothing. But my undiping.
- 28:45Speaker 3: KPIs for that? Is it? Actually you know they're going
- 28:48Speaker 3: to get their way anyway to that position because we're
- 28:50Speaker 3: going to be thinking they're the best players, or is
- 28:52Speaker 3: it other stuff?
- 28:53Speaker 2: Well, I'm comparing wing defenses with wing defenses, so I'm
- 28:55Speaker 2: not comparing wing defenses with other people on the court.
- 28:58Speaker 2: I don't know, but there is a wing defense of
- 28:59Speaker 2: the year in the This and Their Points team that
- 29:01Speaker 2: I'm not interested in that.
- 29:02Speaker 3: No, but that's what I'm saying. So how are you
- 29:04Speaker 3: going to differentiate or is it going to end up
- 29:05Speaker 3: being the same person? Do you know what I mean?
- 29:07Speaker 2: I could be don't know, but like, I'm going to
- 29:09Speaker 2: judge on high performance here.
- 29:10Speaker 4: So something that would do.
- 29:12Speaker 2: So remember Gordy was in last week's episode said go
- 29:14Speaker 2: and have a look at the giant social media because
- 29:16Speaker 2: there's a classic stack by Amy Slider And she went
- 29:19Speaker 2: down and then she got up and then she fell
- 29:22Speaker 2: for again like that and then she laughed. And It's like, well,
- 29:25Speaker 2: to me, that's that is wing defense spirit, isn't it.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Like yeah, so you.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Know it's not always necessarily going to be the best
- 29:34Speaker 2: most valuable player, but you know, I'm going to look
- 29:36Speaker 2: at my people and say, I think you represent us
- 29:39Speaker 2: the best this week.
- 29:41Speaker 1: I think you should call this the one percenters, right,
- 29:43Speaker 1: So the one percenters are the things, the little things
- 29:45Speaker 1: that get done that don't go into the stats.
- 29:47Speaker 5: It's often the wing defenders who have to do it right.
- 29:49Speaker 1: So, yeah, like it's not a tear for an interceptors,
- 29:52Speaker 1: the goalkeepers and gold defenders who get that speaky stuff.
- 29:54Speaker 1: But yeah, so like it's all a little one So
- 29:58Speaker 1: why didn't.
- 29:58Speaker 3: You say that goal? She just don't ever at the
- 30:00Speaker 3: one percent.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. That's how high they
- 30:09Speaker 1: can count to. No, that's me and Elizabeth.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Well they've jumped high. Yeah, but I think that's right, Liz.
- 30:16Speaker 2: That's That's what I'll be looking for there. And there
- 30:20Speaker 2: is no prize on the line here. There is nothing
- 30:23Speaker 2: other than glory obviously, but the no dribble wing Defense
- 30:28Speaker 2: of the Year will be will be nominated and discuss
- 30:31Speaker 2: side and yeah, yeah, as I said, I'm putting together
- 30:35Speaker 2: a little panel because after Europe for a month, so
- 30:37Speaker 2: I might not be able to dedicate myself quite as
- 30:41Speaker 2: much to watching every minute of netball the way I
- 30:44Speaker 2: would when I was here.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Now, tell our dribblers, we're not going to miss you
- 30:46Speaker 3: though whilst you're away.
- 30:48Speaker 2: I can't do it. I can't, I can't. I can't
- 30:50Speaker 2: opt out for a month. I mean, I'm going to
- 30:52Speaker 2: be dialing in from London, Paris, I think, or maybe Amsterdam, and.
- 30:59Speaker 3: We're going to be in the middle of the night
- 31:00Speaker 3: you're hitting.
- 31:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Okay. Now I don't know for whatever reason my algorithms
- 31:05Speaker 3: have taken a turn, but I saw a compilation of
- 31:08Speaker 3: the Queen's Guard horses biting people.
- 31:11Speaker 4: And knocking people with them the other day.
- 31:13Speaker 3: So be just. My word of warning before you travel
- 31:15Speaker 3: is be careful when you're standing there getting in.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I saw that same video and I loved it, Like,
- 31:20Speaker 2: leave the bloody horse.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Alone, keep your distance my buying kids.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but once you start watching that, you get the
- 31:28Speaker 1: algorithm changes and you start because I made the mistake.
- 31:31Speaker 5: Of not the mistake.
- 31:32Speaker 1: I watched it, and then I started to get all
- 31:34Speaker 1: this stuff, all these videos of people like falling over
- 31:38Speaker 1: and cracking their heads, like lots and lots of those
- 31:40Speaker 1: sort of compilations, which I love.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I will remind you that Australia's funny as time
- 31:47Speaker 2: videos was the basis of our culture for several decades.
- 31:50Speaker 2: So no one can sit here in judgment and say
- 31:52Speaker 2: it's not funny watching people fall over, because it is funny.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Totally funny. But my husband doesn't think the meat tray
- 31:58Speaker 1: does not think it's funny. So were used to have
- 32:00Speaker 1: this discussion over Funniest Home Videos, which I used to
- 32:03Speaker 1: sit and cry laughing at.
- 32:04Speaker 5: He was like, it's not funny. People get hurt.
- 32:08Speaker 3: What does he thinks funny? Then? What would make the
- 32:10Speaker 3: meat tray laugh?
- 32:12Speaker 5: You thinks you all funny? But I think he laughs
- 32:14Speaker 5: at you rather than with you.
- 32:15Speaker 2: A bit like me, what what if Catherine fell down?
- 32:19Speaker 2: You can't tell me that wouldn't be funny?
- 32:20Speaker 3: Exactly right?
- 32:21Speaker 1: I don't know, but I was thinking it actually made
- 32:23Speaker 1: me when I was watching these videos when I should
- 32:26Speaker 1: have been doing something else last week, I thought, isn't
- 32:28Speaker 1: it sad? Like the demise of Australa's Funniest Home Videos?
- 32:31Speaker 1: I think he's sad.
- 32:32Speaker 5: It was so much fun to watch on a Saturday
- 32:34Speaker 5: night because it would.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Be so much Imagine all the content you'd have now too,
- 32:38Speaker 3: given everyone's got phones and stuff. Do you know what
- 32:40Speaker 3: I laugh and to the point that I cry at
- 32:43Speaker 3: is whenever I'm watching I'm a celebrity. Get me out
- 32:45Speaker 3: of here, Liz, And they do the eating challenges. People
- 32:48Speaker 3: that gag. It's the when they gag. I am in tears,
- 32:53Speaker 3: crying like I don't have that. You know some people,
- 32:56Speaker 3: if someone else is gagging, they would gag. I can't.
- 32:58Speaker 3: It is the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Why is that? Is there something wrong with me?
- 33:03Speaker 5: I don't.
- 33:04Speaker 2: I think there's something wrong with all of us. The
- 33:06Speaker 2: internet has destroyed this type of entertainment, though.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I reckon, Yeah, you were boring because you didn't get
- 33:11Speaker 3: you just got it done. It was.
- 33:13Speaker 5: I'm so sorry. Let you down, Catherine.
- 33:17Speaker 4: It's very disappointing. What was the worst thing you ate
- 33:20Speaker 4: in the jungle?
- 33:21Speaker 5: Hands down?
- 33:22Speaker 4: The eyeballs and what creature?
- 33:24Speaker 3: Where are they from?
- 33:25Speaker 5: Antelope?
- 33:26Speaker 3: Does that make a differences?
- 33:29Speaker 1: But the worst thing was I had eat two of them,
- 33:32Speaker 1: so I ate one and then I went, oh god,
- 33:34Speaker 1: I've got to start again, Like and just chomping into
- 33:38Speaker 1: the eyeball is gross.
- 33:39Speaker 5: I mean eating the rat's tail.
- 33:41Speaker 4: And they're like golf ball size.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Ah yeah, like because it had bones in it, I
- 33:47Speaker 1: had to chunk on the bones to get them down.
- 33:49Speaker 5: That was horrible. But then like the next.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Second one I did was it was supposed to beat
- 33:53Speaker 1: a bar, right, it was dive bar or something, and
- 33:55Speaker 1: so they were giving us gross things, but mine tended
- 33:58Speaker 1: to be drinks, and I was like, I've been on
- 34:00Speaker 1: net for tours, I can chugg al like this is easy.
- 34:03Speaker 5: That was fine, but.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Yeah, eating although I had these these chips made out
- 34:11Speaker 1: of rats and the sauce was made out of their blood.
- 34:14Speaker 1: So that was gross and actually also occasionally reminds me
- 34:16Speaker 1: of that.
- 34:17Speaker 5: Yeah, so that's gross.
- 34:19Speaker 4: Can he knock that up in the air? Cry for you?
- 34:22Speaker 5: I might give them two for dinner.
- 34:23Speaker 1: One. That's what I just kept telling myself when I
- 34:25Speaker 1: was doing these eating challenges. What like in societies in
- 34:29Speaker 1: all through history, they've eaten no satal like, nothing goes
- 34:32Speaker 1: to waste.
- 34:33Speaker 5: So everything that I was eating someone's eating before.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Got your wives.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Hey, just on the crazy foods, And that's just reminded
- 34:40Speaker 3: me of it. Watching the Project the other night, they're
- 34:42Speaker 3: about to release breast milk ice cream. Who's they some
- 34:47Speaker 3: crazy people?
- 34:49Speaker 5: Did you see this list?
- 34:50Speaker 3: No, you went on obviously, but they were talking about
- 34:54Speaker 3: this ice cream being really and it's not for children obviously,
- 34:57Speaker 3: it's four for murados.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Like who's I don't know if this is too much information,
- 35:03Speaker 1: but did you guys ever try it while you're breastfeeding?
- 35:06Speaker 4: Of course?
- 35:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it's great, like it's no like nice and creamy.
- 35:11Speaker 3: No, you do why would I do that? Curiosity? Nah? Really, well,
- 35:18Speaker 3: what does it taste like?
- 35:20Speaker 4: What does it taste like?
- 35:21Speaker 3: It's a bit tasteless, like it's not nice like ice
- 35:24Speaker 3: cream and enjoy it?
- 35:26Speaker 4: No, No, I would not, no.
- 35:28Speaker 3: And find it palatable.
- 35:30Speaker 5: No, it's not. It's not horrible. It's just a bit directly,
- 35:33Speaker 5: it's just a bit tasteless, almost like it's like we
- 35:35Speaker 5: li thin milk.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, quite quite watery m question without notice,
- 35:41Speaker 2: I'm talking to a male producer here who is vegan.
- 35:44Speaker 2: If breast milk ice cream didn't have animal product in it,
- 35:48Speaker 2: would that pass muster for most vegans?
- 35:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 35:51Speaker 4: So, And you don't have to answer this if you
- 35:53Speaker 4: don't want to, but I just it's is.
- 35:55Speaker 6: The question, is breast milk vegan almost or could vegan consumer?
- 35:59Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 35:59Speaker 4: Come to yeah, one hundred percent.
- 36:01Speaker 3: I would.
- 36:02Speaker 6: I mean it's different for every person, but the whole
- 36:04Speaker 6: point of being vegan is you don't want to contribute
- 36:07Speaker 6: to any animal deaths cruelty. So considering hopefully nothing's dying
- 36:13Speaker 6: for your breast milk, I would one hundred percent have
- 36:17Speaker 6: some breast milk and wouldn't have to be for me.
- 36:19Speaker 6: I'd try it I'd try it.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Yeah, that's thank you. That's very interesting. Again, was without
- 36:25Speaker 4: not well?
- 36:25Speaker 2: So I just want Catherine to remind you that you
- 36:28Speaker 2: thought bores penis was okay for vegans, so you're going
- 36:31Speaker 2: to be a little bit horrified buddies. But yeah, wow,
- 36:34Speaker 2: interesting they go and on the project. What were they saying,
- 36:38Speaker 2: who was being the breast milk ice cream being marketed to?
- 36:42Speaker 3: Is it a no like people? No one, no one specifically, Like,
- 36:47Speaker 3: it wasn't to kids obviously was the point breast milks
- 36:50Speaker 3: obviously for babies, but no, it was to the general population. Wow,
- 36:55Speaker 3: I know, I'm interested, Okay, ellis on then another one
- 37:01Speaker 3: of these that's just come to my mouth. Didn't you
- 37:03Speaker 3: have a friend who had this dinner party and it
- 37:08Speaker 3: was one of these incredible chefs and they had a
- 37:12Speaker 3: blood pudding of some sort. It wasn't it with real white?
- 37:15Speaker 5: You know?
- 37:15Speaker 1: That wasn't a friend. It was a bit of an
- 37:17Speaker 1: apocryphal story that got told to me, like maybe when
- 37:20Speaker 1: I was a lawyer, some fancy schmancy lawyer have been
- 37:23Speaker 1: to some fancy schmancy dinner party in Europe and this
- 37:26Speaker 1: was what happened.
- 37:27Speaker 5: Yeah, so they had this blood pudding and at.
- 37:29Speaker 4: The end, so human blood blood sausage.
- 37:32Speaker 1: The person said, it's my blood. I took it out
- 37:34Speaker 1: of my arm over the course after dinner.
- 37:38Speaker 3: And they didn't. They all applaud it, like oh oh oh,
- 37:42Speaker 3: I vomited.
- 37:44Speaker 2: I would not be down with someone presenting that information
- 37:46Speaker 2: to me after I'd eaten it. I feel like you
- 37:48Speaker 2: need full consent for people to be consuming your body care.
- 37:53Speaker 1: If you're going to serve people's sorry proper, you don't
- 37:57Speaker 1: always get full consent.
- 37:59Speaker 4: You should, you should. It's twenty twenty five, Catherine, have
- 38:04Speaker 4: any relationship? Okay? Is there any netball? I feel like
- 38:07Speaker 4: we should massively segue.
- 38:09Speaker 3: To say, okay, well, let's talk about let round one
- 38:11Speaker 3: because I want to know who you guys are most
- 38:13Speaker 3: looking forward to. Which is your match of the round?
- 38:15Speaker 3: So starts in Adelaide Grand Final rematch Sea Birds of Vixen's.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Then it's the MAVs at home to the Lightning on
- 38:21Speaker 3: the Saturday, Then the Giants five Birds will be in
- 38:25Speaker 3: Sydney on the Sunday, and Fever swifts to finish the round.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Who's the one you're most looking for?
- 38:32Speaker 2: So I am most excited about that? Fever Swifts game.
- 38:34Speaker 2: I think it'd be really interesting and just to yeah,
- 38:37Speaker 2: watch watch. I mean, the Fever is so strong at
- 38:39Speaker 2: home and it is such a such an amazing stadium,
- 38:42Speaker 2: you really must go there. But it's like to see
- 38:44Speaker 2: the Swifts go there and see because maybe Graceon Wecky
- 38:49Speaker 2: doesn't care that she's away from home because she might
- 38:51Speaker 2: not have any sense of a home ground advantage yet
- 38:53Speaker 2: or any any type of comfort. But that's the one
- 38:55Speaker 2: I'm most excited about.
- 38:57Speaker 3: Foul and emmud or no is.
- 38:59Speaker 4: That, Yeah, we don't know.
- 39:01Speaker 5: I'm excited about the Vixen's Teabirds game. I reckon.
- 39:04Speaker 1: It's great starting the season with your Grand Final rematch
- 39:09Speaker 1: and Ta Birds they're going for their three peats. So
- 39:12Speaker 1: you know, sometimes when you've had success back to back,
- 39:16Speaker 1: like it's a bit hard to get yourself up at
- 39:18Speaker 1: the start of the season, and sometimes your coach wants
- 39:20Speaker 1: you to be not that up at the start of
- 39:22Speaker 1: the season because you know you can finish strong. And
- 39:24Speaker 1: I wonder if we'll see a bit of that. Will
- 39:26Speaker 1: we see Vixen's out for revenge, because you know that
- 39:30Speaker 1: was so close to the Grand Final last year, So
- 39:32Speaker 1: I'm really excited about it.
- 39:34Speaker 5: I reckon that'll be a ripping match.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Tea Beds don't look like they want to start
- 39:38Speaker 2: anything slowly? Do they like the Team Girls cup? They went, no,
- 39:41Speaker 2: we'll have this and you can forget you who do
- 39:44Speaker 2: because we don't believe.
- 39:45Speaker 3: In that and that interesting.
- 39:48Speaker 2: What do you think our valor dribbler Tipper Aaron would
- 39:51Speaker 2: have her dress? Maybe by now, because I went to
- 39:53Speaker 2: the post office last week in one of my most
- 39:55Speaker 2: hated jobs, but I did get it done.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Well done, Thank you, loving you. Thanks well, I'm I'm
- 40:00Speaker 3: doing the Grand Final rematch and then I'm flying home
- 40:02Speaker 3: to do the Giants Firebirds game as well. They're actually
- 40:05Speaker 3: all really good games in that they're sides that match
- 40:08Speaker 3: up well on each other, so individually they're hard to
- 40:12Speaker 3: really tip. So the MAVs and the Lightning they were
- 40:14Speaker 3: fifth and sixth, No, fourth and fifth last year. That's
- 40:18Speaker 3: going to be a really good one as well, just
- 40:20Speaker 3: to think to get a check of where people are at.
- 40:23Speaker 3: MAVs are without card well now as we know, had
- 40:25Speaker 3: another operation on her knee recently. Lightning don enough Courtey
- 40:30Speaker 3: Bruce's back, so it'll be just really interesting. I think
- 40:32Speaker 3: to outside of the TGC when they run all their
- 40:35Speaker 3: bench to have a look and see where they've landed
- 40:37Speaker 3: on their starting sevens and who's fit and who's prepared
- 40:41Speaker 3: to play a full year.
- 40:42Speaker 5: Like, go, w, what's that?
- 40:44Speaker 3: What's the Ramelda sitch? Can we talk about that? Well,
- 40:48Speaker 3: Ramelda's been training and played apparently the full game against
- 40:53Speaker 3: the Firebirds. It's Shmira Stirling that's in and out, so
- 40:57Speaker 3: I'm not entirely sure and that makes more sense. Give
- 41:00Speaker 3: and they've recruited a South African defender, yes, so they've
- 41:03Speaker 3: said that she's the replacement player for Romelda. That seemed
- 41:06Speaker 3: doesn't make sense anyway. So I don't know what's going
- 41:09Speaker 3: on in Adelaide.
- 41:10Speaker 2: No one on Facebook was buying that. Everyone thought that
- 41:14Speaker 2: was odd.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little interesting, isn't it. So that's why
- 41:18Speaker 3: I'm leaving my tips till the very last minute and
- 41:21Speaker 3: some big chunks of information come out this week.
- 41:23Speaker 2: What I'm thinking, Kathy is I might just tip exactly
- 41:26Speaker 2: the same as you for every single game in every
- 41:30Speaker 2: single round up until the last game of the last round.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Bring it down to one game.
- 41:36Speaker 3: So when can you see my tips? I don't know
- 41:38Speaker 3: I don't know. Why can you see everyone's tips? I
- 41:40Speaker 3: don't know that's going to happen. I'm not I know.
- 41:43Speaker 3: I don't want this. I don't want you to copy.
- 41:44Speaker 4: I won't do that. I won't do that.
- 41:46Speaker 2: I want I want to win under my own Well
- 41:50Speaker 2: it's unlikely, but you know, if I'm going to win,
- 41:52Speaker 2: I want to win under my own efforts.
- 41:54Speaker 3: And you know what, I reckon you can this year.
- 41:56Speaker 3: It's so close, it's hard, it's hard to tip. So
- 41:59Speaker 3: I reckon you'll be good this year. Thank you? Thank
- 42:03Speaker 3: you that made you feel any about it? There we going? Hey, now,
- 42:05Speaker 3: can I quickly one thing we never spoke about, and
- 42:08Speaker 3: I can't believe we didn't mention it is Liz Ellis
- 42:11Speaker 3: when she was mentioned in the top Influential Women in Sport?
- 42:15Speaker 3: Did you see the list? I did not. What number
- 42:17Speaker 3: did you come in, Elizabeth? Because it was way further
- 42:19Speaker 3: down than I thought you should have been.
- 42:21Speaker 5: Maybe eighteen.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a list. Was it fifty?
- 42:24Speaker 5: No, it was one hundred, one hundred.
- 42:26Speaker 3: So the most influential women in sport and Liz on
- 42:32Speaker 3: the list.
- 42:33Speaker 1: But you know what I loved, right, I would have
- 42:35Speaker 1: thought of that list there were ten who had either
- 42:39Speaker 1: who were either currently working in netball or had come
- 42:42Speaker 1: from or had worked in netball.
- 42:44Speaker 5: So I think the thing that I loved.
- 42:46Speaker 1: About that list, thank you for bringing up Catherine, was
- 42:48Speaker 1: not like when you're on those lists, you're like, okay,
- 42:51Speaker 1: But I think what it really showed was how great
- 42:55Speaker 1: netball is at growing leaders and you know, like just
- 43:00Speaker 1: people who have come through the sport and then gone
- 43:02Speaker 1: on to work elsewhere.
- 43:04Speaker 5: Was really great.
- 43:05Speaker 1: So there was lots of women who maybe don't work
- 43:09Speaker 1: in the sport, but who have a relationship with the sport,
- 43:14Speaker 1: who have done some work in the sport or in
- 43:18Speaker 1: some ways.
- 43:18Speaker 5: So I thought that was really great. Like netball really
- 43:21Speaker 5: was pretty well represented on that list, so it was
- 43:23Speaker 5: great to see a couple of players in it, Lizzie
- 43:25Speaker 5: Watson and Amy Palmenta was great.
- 43:28Speaker 1: So I'd like to see more of our players in there.
- 43:30Speaker 1: So that's sort of, you know, a little goal. It
- 43:33Speaker 1: sits in the back of my mind.
- 43:34Speaker 5: Yeah, it's good, good recognition for Neddie.
- 43:37Speaker 3: The good thing was that you were on the top
- 43:40Speaker 3: of the list number one of Lisa Alexander's twenty five
- 43:44Speaker 3: Australian Diamonds of all time. Oh nice? Yeah, were you
- 43:48Speaker 3: in that? The goat was number one? Were you in that?
- 43:50Speaker 4: I screw you?
- 43:51Speaker 5: The top ten?
- 43:52Speaker 3: Congratulations number ten, this is amazing. Yeah.
- 43:56Speaker 4: Do you like though?
- 43:57Speaker 2: And Liz is a genuinely humble person, so she says,
- 44:00Speaker 2: you know, when you're on those lists, you go okay.
- 44:03Speaker 2: It's honestly, if someone put me on a top fifty
- 44:06Speaker 2: influential I know women in wing defense selections, I would
- 44:10Speaker 2: be jumping out of my skin with excitement. So I
- 44:14Speaker 2: don't think i'd ever go oh okay, I.
- 44:16Speaker 5: Know, stop it, stop it, awesome, stop it.
- 44:20Speaker 1: I did know that in Lisa Alexander's list, I think
- 44:23Speaker 1: four of the top five might have been defenders.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Interesting. Yeah, as it should be, I think, Suzz.
- 44:31Speaker 2: We're going to get back to that conversation next week
- 44:34Speaker 2: from London. We're going to talk about whether the when
- 44:37Speaker 2: Amy Palmenta went off, whether the MAVs dropped the WD
- 44:41Speaker 2: or the wa.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Catherine, I'm going to come back to that.
- 44:43Speaker 3: That is a fascinating topic.
- 44:47Speaker 2: So our first I told you that I was away
- 44:49Speaker 2: for the weekend and that my under twelves had their
- 44:52Speaker 2: first game.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Of course they didn't. It was rained out it's like, yeah,
- 44:54Speaker 3: good on it. And this year.
- 44:56Speaker 2: So last year we were eight am timeslot, which is
- 44:58Speaker 2: a bugger because they don't care saw the games until
- 45:00Speaker 2: half an hour out and you have to be there
- 45:02Speaker 2: for warm up. So every week we're there and it's like, nup,
- 45:04Speaker 2: cancel go. And this year I thought, because we're a
- 45:07Speaker 2: year older, will be an hour later or not. We've
- 45:09Speaker 2: still got the same eight o'clock time, so we've still
- 45:12Speaker 2: just yeah, we've pulled the crappy duty for the early
- 45:15Speaker 2: morning start again.
- 45:17Speaker 3: How's ours? Our sucks? The big ones. It's a Friday night, yeah,
- 45:21Speaker 3: five point thirty pm. Now what's your take on me
- 45:26Speaker 3: having a coffee cup with wine in it at that time?
- 45:29Speaker 1: And not? Fine?
- 45:29Speaker 3: It is right, it's a Friday night. Because the other
- 45:33Speaker 3: thing too about winter is I like the weekends because
- 45:35Speaker 3: it's daylight, so the sun's out. Yep, it's nice, but
- 45:38Speaker 3: five o'clock five thirty on a Friday night, it's going
- 45:40Speaker 3: to be freezing. Yeah, it's just got warts on it.
- 45:43Speaker 3: It does.
- 45:44Speaker 4: Is it far? Do you have to then deal with
- 45:45Speaker 4: the traffic?
- 45:46Speaker 3: No? No, no, it's close. It's close enough to home.
- 45:48Speaker 3: And I'm like, how just there's going to definitely be
- 45:51Speaker 3: some sort of cup with something in it.
- 45:52Speaker 2: On a Friday night, Lewis used to do a water
- 45:54Speaker 2: polo comp that was from I think it was five
- 45:56Speaker 2: to six or six to seven on a Friday night
- 45:58Speaker 2: of the primary school comp and there was the Dramaine
- 46:02Speaker 2: pool and upstairs there's a bar and it's like you
- 46:04Speaker 2: could sit there and watch your kid play.
- 46:06Speaker 3: And you're inside. Oh that's perfect.
- 46:09Speaker 4: I was on the balcony, but it was summer, so
- 46:11Speaker 4: it wasn't it's not.
- 46:11Speaker 3: Wind cricket watching the boys play.
- 46:17Speaker 1: There's a there's a pub or not a pub like
- 46:21Speaker 1: a bowling club that we chose the cricket club that's
- 46:24Speaker 1: associated with a bowling club and you can sit on
- 46:26Speaker 1: the deck and when they have Friday night games you
- 46:30Speaker 1: can see the.
- 46:30Speaker 5: Game and have a beer. And if they're at training,
- 46:33Speaker 5: sometimes Matthew and I over someone would accidentally sneak.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Up and have have a nice little cold beer just
- 46:39Speaker 1: you know, have a little little stabilized so.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Simil, speaking of dates, just on the way in, I'm
- 46:48Speaker 2: driving through the city and you know you hit lights
- 46:50Speaker 2: after lights after lights, and I hit a stack, hit
- 46:52Speaker 2: some lights.
- 46:53Speaker 4: There's a car in front of me. It's a rental car.
- 46:55Speaker 2: The light changed and they didn't immediately go because they're
- 46:59Speaker 2: kissing in the front seat, and I thought, and I went,
- 47:01Speaker 2: I thought to get angry, and then I thought, no,
- 47:03Speaker 2: actually that's really nice. They're just you know, let's just
- 47:06Speaker 2: chill out, Carolyn, you've got time. And we all made
- 47:09Speaker 2: the light. We went through, but then we stopped at
- 47:10Speaker 2: the next lights, and they bloody did it again. It's like,
- 47:12Speaker 2: that's enough kissing, enough of the love. Now, now we
- 47:15Speaker 2: pay attention to the traffic.
- 47:16Speaker 4: Come a busy woman.
- 47:18Speaker 3: Look not to sound creepy, but I would have followed them.
- 47:21Speaker 4: Well, how is that not sounding creepy?
- 47:23Speaker 5: And it looks so creepy.
- 47:26Speaker 4: Not to sound creepy, there is no other way to
- 47:29Speaker 4: hear that.
- 47:29Speaker 3: And just to see what point it was going to stop,
- 47:33Speaker 3: and surely that's not happening every set of lights.
- 47:37Speaker 5: It happened a four four.
- 47:38Speaker 4: In a row, four lights and rights.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Yeah, Now is that a new couple or is that.
- 47:44Speaker 4: It's a rental cart.
- 47:45Speaker 2: So maybe they're visiting from somewhere else and they're just
- 47:48Speaker 2: overwhelmed with the romance all of malon. Yeah, who knows,
- 47:52Speaker 2: But yeah, I did have a moment. I talked myself down.
- 47:56Speaker 2: I went, no, let's just appreciate this moment, and that's it.
- 47:59Speaker 2: I've got one moment of love and.
- 48:00Speaker 4: Then we're back to Sibby traffic mode.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Oh no, all right, so we probably need to wrap
- 48:07Speaker 2: up because you obviously need to go and consider your tips. Liz,
- 48:10Speaker 2: you don't need to consider your tips. You can just
- 48:12Speaker 2: enter them for the whole season. Dribbler's jump on board.
- 48:15Speaker 2: If you are from Queensland, remember go to our Go
- 48:17Speaker 2: to our website and send me an email with your
- 48:20Speaker 2: postcode and I'll send you a link that you can
- 48:22Speaker 2: join us. You can't win prizes, I'm sorry, but we
- 48:25Speaker 2: would love you to join if you would like to.
- 48:29Speaker 4: And you don't have.
- 48:29Speaker 2: To pay to participate because you can't win the prizes,
- 48:32Speaker 2: but we do. I think have something quite exciting this week.
- 48:36Speaker 2: After having given the Dribblers a bollocking for the last
- 48:38Speaker 2: couple of weeks, we might have a.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Win beneath them. That's great, and it's a voice note.
- 48:47Speaker 3: So quadruple point.
- 48:48Speaker 4: Yeah, very good, I've.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Gone past the double points. It's quadruple points. Should we
- 48:52Speaker 3: play it?
- 48:56Speaker 6: Hi?
- 48:56Speaker 7: No dribble, hailely hear from the Esperance Netball Association. I'd
- 49:00Speaker 7: like to nominate our president and recent live member, Fiona McDonald.
- 49:04Speaker 7: Fiona is the heart of our association. She is always
- 49:07Speaker 7: there when needed. She's the one who represents us at
- 49:10Speaker 7: various meetings and events, and no job is too big
- 49:13Speaker 7: or small. Our local stadium flooded last year three days
- 49:17Speaker 7: before round two. We lost four brand new courts. In
- 49:20Speaker 7: the blink of an eye. We moved back to the
- 49:22Speaker 7: old stadium, which is actually being demolished next month. The
- 49:26Speaker 7: roof leaks, the floor leaks. Everything that could go wrong
- 49:28Speaker 7: went wrong, and I'm not kidding. We had div one
- 49:32Speaker 7: outside on bitchman courts and endless canceled games. She was
- 49:36Speaker 7: the fighting force in US retaining outdoor courts in recent
- 49:39Speaker 7: facility upgrades and boy did they come in handy last year.
- 49:43Speaker 7: Through all of it, canceled games and endless leaks, Fiona
- 49:46Speaker 7: was there cleaning up courts and doing way more than
- 49:49Speaker 7: the role of president requires. Our association is incredibly lucky
- 49:53Speaker 7: to have Fiona in it and she's our win beneath
- 49:55Speaker 7: our wings.
- 49:56Speaker 4: Thank you, Hayley, that's fantastic and congratulations for you are
- 50:01Speaker 4: the wind beneath all of our wings and esb how fantastic.
- 50:05Speaker 4: I loved it. At least did you go to Esperance?
- 50:07Speaker 5: I did. I loved Esperance.
- 50:08Speaker 1: We have had a few days in Esperance and we
- 50:10Speaker 1: went down to Lucky Bay, which is that it's a
- 50:13Speaker 1: beach that was voted up the most beautiful beach in
- 50:15Speaker 1: Australia a few years ago and you have often see
- 50:17Speaker 1: photos with your kangaroos on the beach.
- 50:19Speaker 5: It's beautiful. I love Esperance ideal.
- 50:23Speaker 2: I think I had the best swim of my life
- 50:26Speaker 2: just east of Esperance at that capeler Grand National Park.
- 50:30Speaker 3: It's like this, this is.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Heaven and it's so great because it's such a hassle
- 50:33Speaker 2: to get to, so it's like you've just in this
- 50:36Speaker 2: extraordinary place that hopefully we won't ruin, although we seem
- 50:39Speaker 2: to ruin everywhere in times.
- 50:42Speaker 4: Good good job, human beings.
- 50:43Speaker 2: But yeah, anyway, I'll get off that rant and Fiona,
- 50:47Speaker 2: you are the wind beneath our wings.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Good work. Sorry about your courts, guys, that is a bugger.
- 50:52Speaker 3: But Scrungey will fix everything.
- 50:54Speaker 2: A sponge one scrunchy yeap to rule them all. One
- 50:58Speaker 2: half ast scrunchy. Hey what life member?
- 51:00Speaker 3: Meme?
- 51:01Speaker 4: What does that mean? Like you hear it and you go,
- 51:03Speaker 4: it's a good important thing. It's what is it?
- 51:05Speaker 3: What does it mean? You're you're a life something rather
- 51:09Speaker 3: than Australia, aren't you? Liz is a life member?
- 51:12Speaker 2: No a life sentence. It might feel like doing this
- 51:16Speaker 2: unpaid job.
- 51:17Speaker 5: No, I'm not a life member. I think that's a
- 51:19Speaker 5: life membership. I'm a life member of Green Hills Netball Club,
- 51:22Speaker 5: which is my first club at Hawksbury.
- 51:24Speaker 3: Oh so if you decide to go back and pay,
- 51:25Speaker 3: they cover your postration.
- 51:27Speaker 5: I don't know, but it's just a nice recognition.
- 51:31Speaker 4: It's lovely. You don't have to do canteen duty on
- 51:33Speaker 4: your week.
- 51:34Speaker 5: You get it. You hope to get a canteen.
- 51:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my favorite time of season when our team
- 51:40Speaker 2: manager has to try to get volunteers for our canteen duty.
- 51:43Speaker 2: It's I'm the coach, guys, it's everyone except me.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Oh, there you go, there's another reason to be the coach.
- 51:49Speaker 3: We don't have a canteen in my association.
- 51:51Speaker 5: Don't you. I don't think our rep girls have to
- 51:53Speaker 5: work in the canteen, which is great.
- 51:55Speaker 1: It's fantastic because actually customer service and how to use
- 51:59Speaker 1: the pewter for payment, and that's sort.
- 52:01Speaker 4: Of how to say you're right, love. What can I
- 52:05Speaker 4: get to say?
- 52:06Speaker 1: When I first went to I was sort of standing
- 52:09Speaker 1: near the canteen when everyone first worked in it, and
- 52:11Speaker 1: I was so nervous for her. And then she started
- 52:13Speaker 1: serving people and I'm like, oh, okay, she can do
- 52:15Speaker 1: stuff without me. Obviously, toodles.
- 52:19Speaker 2: I think that we need to go and preserve our energy.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Think about the weekend ahead. We are at the start
- 52:24Speaker 2: of very exciting season and it's going to be so
- 52:27Speaker 2: much fun. And I will be talking to you next
- 52:31Speaker 2: week from the other side of the planet, and that's
- 52:34Speaker 2: very exciting for me. I won't be here next week,
- 52:36Speaker 2: but I can't. I get too much fomo. I cannot
- 52:39Speaker 2: miss out on a moment of no dribble. So I
- 52:41Speaker 2: will be here, not just in spirit but in voice.
- 52:44Speaker 3: What time of the morning are we talking about.
- 52:47Speaker 2: It'll be midnight in London, but then when we move
- 52:50Speaker 2: across to the continents, it's going to be one daylight
- 52:52Speaker 2: saving ends and that's a watch out for you. Just remember, yes,
- 52:57Speaker 2: clocks change my house now.
- 53:00Speaker 5: When she says she's going to turn up, which is exciting.
- 53:03Speaker 4: For six whole months.
- 53:04Speaker 2: You can arrive on time, well right, answer half an
- 53:08Speaker 2: hour early.
- 53:10Speaker 4: Okay, everybody, thanks so much for joining us again this week.
- 53:13Speaker 4: Get excited. It's happening.
- 53:15Speaker 3: I'm Carolyn Swindle, I'm CATCS.
- 53:17Speaker 5: We mostly let's go to the home teams.
- 53:20Speaker 4: See you guys, have a good week.
