- 0:01Speaker 1: Live on Sky News. This his Sharry.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Good Evening. Massive newsday today, both in the US and locally,
- 0:11Speaker 2: the leader of the Free World, Joe Biden, could barely
- 0:14Speaker 2: deliver a coherent speech the US capital overrun by Hamas
- 0:18Speaker 2: supporters and Israeli Prime Minister Benjaminett and Yahoo delivered his
- 0:23Speaker 2: most powerful argument yet for Western support of Israel. You
- 0:28Speaker 2: can hardly compare Biden's weak remarks with the strength of
- 0:33Speaker 2: the Israeli leader.
- 0:34Speaker 3: And that day, I told you, as I stood in
- 0:36Speaker 3: that winter, We're still in a winter of peril and
- 0:41Speaker 3: winner possibility for.
- 0:43Speaker 4: The forces of civilization to triumph. America and Israel must
- 0:48Speaker 4: stand together.
- 0:50Speaker 2: And yet eighty Democrats who claimed to support democracy couldn't
- 0:54Speaker 2: even sit there and listen to what Netinnahu had to say.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I'm going to come back to that in a minute.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Here in Australia, meanwhile, economists are warning a recession could
- 1:04Speaker 2: be on the cards. This is Wall Street had its
- 1:06Speaker 2: worst day in almost two years, with a one trillion
- 1:10Speaker 2: dollar wipeout, and Albinezie announced the retirement of two ministers,
- 1:15Speaker 2: sparking a cabinet reshuffle. This opens the way for Andrew Giles'
- 1:20Speaker 2: demotion finally, well, let's get into it tonight.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Well.
- 1:23Speaker 2: In his speech, Joe Biden vowed to call out hate, extremism,
- 1:28Speaker 2: and violence, Yet the very city from where he spoke
- 1:31Speaker 2: had just been overrun by lawlessness, vile, racism, and anarchy.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Washington today looked more like the Harmas headquarters in Gaza
- 1:41Speaker 2: than it did the heart and soul of America. Her
- 1:45Speaker 2: Musk supporters, and we have to repeat that seriously, her
- 1:48Speaker 2: Musk supporters. How can they even be supporters for the
- 1:52Speaker 2: gun toting monsters who behead, rape and slaughter innocent families.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yet there are, and they turned out in Washington, defiling
- 2:01Speaker 2: the Christopher Columbus Memorial Fountain with the words her muss
- 2:06Speaker 2: is coming. Yep, the killers, butchers and rapists are coming.
- 2:12Speaker 2: These vile activists burned an effigy of Nettan Yahoo, the
- 2:16Speaker 2: Prime minister who's trying to eliminate the terrorists and bring
- 2:20Speaker 2: home innocent hostages from Gaza, including a baby, his little
- 2:25Speaker 2: brother and their mum. Those two children stolen it just
- 2:29Speaker 2: nine months old and four years old, the world's youngest hostages.
- 2:49Speaker 2: The pro Palestinian activists burned the American and Israeli flags
- 2:53Speaker 2: while waving the green her Musk flag and chanting.
- 3:02Speaker 6: Palieside will be free, Alide will be free.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Sign and a massive Palestinian flag where Hamas is the
- 3:18Speaker 2: current governing body, was unfurled on the street. The American
- 3:22Speaker 2: flag torn down from Union station and instead the Palestinian
- 3:27Speaker 2: flag was hoisted and flown. The Hamas supporters grew violent.
- 3:32Speaker 2: They clashed with police, who used tear gas to control
- 3:36Speaker 2: the crowd. There were many arrests. Now, it's one thing
- 3:41Speaker 2: to mourn the loss of life in Gaza. It is
- 3:44Speaker 2: tragic and we all mourn it. And you may disagree
- 3:48Speaker 2: with how Israel has pursued Hamas in Gaza, but to
- 3:52Speaker 2: support Hermas, to support the terrorists who not only forced
- 3:57Speaker 2: Israel into this war that it never won, but deliberately
- 4:01Speaker 2: put its own people, the Palestinian people, in harm's way
- 4:05Speaker 2: day after day, by hiding within civilian populations, by refusing
- 4:10Speaker 2: to cooperate with ceasefire proposals, and by welcoming a high
- 4:15Speaker 2: death toll in order to turn the West against Israel.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Every single soul who has perished in this war is
- 4:24Speaker 2: entirely on her Muss's hands. Her must chose to start
- 4:27Speaker 2: the war. Nine months ago, but it also could have
- 4:31Speaker 2: ended the war at any point since then if it's
- 4:33Speaker 2: simply chose to hand back innocent hostages, young people and surrender.
- 4:40Speaker 2: But there's a reason her mus won't hand back hostages.
- 4:43Speaker 2: There's a reason her Musk refuses every ceasefire proposal, and
- 4:48Speaker 2: it's this. The terrorist group wants to prolong the war
- 4:53Speaker 2: because while they're losing ground in Gaza, they're winning internationally
- 4:57Speaker 2: with more support than ever in the West, especially among
- 5:02Speaker 2: the idiotic, confused millennials who sadly make up our next generation.
- 5:08Speaker 2: But there can be no confusion. To support her Muss,
- 5:12Speaker 2: as we saw in Washington today, is to support evil.
- 5:17Speaker 2: It's to support among the most malicious and barbaric acts
- 5:21Speaker 2: ever inflicted on human beings, on par with Hitler's atrocities.
- 5:27Speaker 2: To support her Muss is to unequivocally be on the
- 5:30Speaker 2: wrong side of history and humanity. Now. Benjamin Netanyahu unquestionably
- 5:38Speaker 2: a controversial politician, loved and loathed by Israeli's in almost
- 5:44Speaker 2: equal measure. Well, he did deliver a powerful speech today
- 5:49Speaker 2: where he articulated very clearly the enemy his country is
- 5:53Speaker 2: up against.
- 5:54Speaker 4: These monsters. They rape women, they beheaded men, they burnt
- 6:01Speaker 4: babies alive. They killed parents in front of their children,
- 6:09Speaker 4: and children in front of their parents. They dragged two
- 6:14Speaker 4: hundred and fifty five people, both living and dead, into
- 6:18Speaker 4: the dark dungeons of Gaza. The ICC is trying to
- 6:21Speaker 4: shackle Israel's hands and prevent us from defending ourselves. And
- 6:25Speaker 4: if Israel's hands are tied, America is next. And I'll
- 6:30Speaker 4: tell you what else is next. The ability of all
- 6:33Speaker 4: democracies to fight terrorism will be imperiled. That's what's on
- 6:37Speaker 4: the line.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And He's right, And those protesters who burned the American
- 6:43Speaker 2: flag only reinforced Netanyahu's point to Congress that Israel's enemies
- 6:50Speaker 2: are America's enemies.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Defeating our brutal enemies requires both courage and clarity. Clarity
- 6:59Speaker 4: begins by knowing the difference between good and evil. Yet
- 7:05Speaker 4: incredibly many anti Israel protesters, many choose to stand with evil.
- 7:13Speaker 4: They stand with hamas they stand with rapists and murderers.
- 7:17Speaker 4: They should be ashamed of themselves.
- 7:21Speaker 2: So as this debate heats up internationally, including in Australia,
- 7:26Speaker 2: let's be very clear. Israel is trying to eliminate the
- 7:29Speaker 2: terrorists who killed entire families and stole hostages.
- 7:35Speaker 1: There could be.
- 7:36Speaker 2: No other response than to eliminate the terrorists, much the
- 7:40Speaker 2: same way that America went after Osama bin Laden and
- 7:43Speaker 2: the other perpetrators of nine to eleven, much the same
- 7:46Speaker 2: way the Allies destroyed the Nazis in World War Two.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Despite the heavy loss of life, and there were an
- 7:54Speaker 2: estimated forty million civilians killed in the World War, no
- 8:00Speaker 2: civilized government would abandon two hundred and fifty innocent citizens, including,
- 8:06Speaker 2: as I said, a baby and his four year old brother,
- 8:09Speaker 2: to the grips of armed terrorists. Any rational person would
- 8:14Speaker 2: agree that that notion is intolerable and impossible. Yet the
- 8:20Speaker 2: scenes on the streets of Washington today show us that
- 8:23Speaker 2: the longer this war wage is on, the more the
- 8:26Speaker 2: woke brigade find a reason to condone terrorism and find
- 8:30Speaker 2: excuses for anti Semitism. And I'll be crossing live to
- 8:37Speaker 2: the United States to break all of this down. And
- 8:40Speaker 2: it was a big day. Biden's speech will come back
- 8:42Speaker 2: to that. I'm going to have former acting Attorney General
- 8:45Speaker 2: in the Trump administration on the show. Also a Republican
- 8:48Speaker 2: National Committee spokeswoman. Shortly, but now let's bring in tonight's
- 8:52Speaker 2: panel the Australians National Affairs Editor Joe Kelly and National
- 8:55Speaker 2: Senator Matt Canavan. Welcome to you both. I first want
- 9:00Speaker 2: to start with Netanyahu's speech to Congress that I've just
- 9:02Speaker 2: been speaking about. What's your analysis of the pitch that
- 9:07Speaker 2: he delivered to some of them quite hostile Congress members.
- 9:13Speaker 6: Yes, Cherry, good to be on the program. I too,
- 9:15Speaker 6: thought it was a very powerful speech by Benjamin Netanyahu.
- 9:21Speaker 6: I think he made the case that this is a
- 9:25Speaker 6: conflict in which America is fighting, in which Israel is
- 9:32Speaker 6: fighting a new barbarism. This is not a clash of civilizations,
- 9:36Speaker 6: as Samuel Huntington suggested, This is a clash for the
- 9:41Speaker 6: future of democracy and the values which we share, that
- 9:46Speaker 6: Israel shares with America and which Australia should share as well.
- 9:50Speaker 6: I think it was a very powerful pitch, but I
- 9:53Speaker 6: do think that there is a divide in the American
- 9:58Speaker 6: political system. We saw very strong criticism of netnya who
- 10:03Speaker 6: made by a number of prominent Democrats, and I think
- 10:07Speaker 6: that they are growing increasingly frustrated with him because there
- 10:12Speaker 6: are reports that the Biden administration is trying to work
- 10:15Speaker 6: on a broader political solution to end the conflict. This
- 10:20Speaker 6: would still see a phased release of hostages, but essentially
- 10:24Speaker 6: it would try and come up with a solution in
- 10:27Speaker 6: which Israel and key Arab nations could come together to
- 10:34Speaker 6: oppose the new power and threat represented by Irand so
- 10:40Speaker 6: I think that there is a fundamental difference in strategy,
- 10:45Speaker 6: and I do also think that this could play into
- 10:47Speaker 6: the political contest going forward. I think it would do
- 10:52Speaker 6: a great service for Kamala Harris if Joe Biden and
- 10:55Speaker 6: Benjamin Netanya, who were able to come together and actually
- 11:00Speaker 6: on a plan to try and get a negotiated outcome
- 11:04Speaker 6: that's acceptable to everyone. But obviously that will be a
- 11:07Speaker 6: very difficult task.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Character Yeah, indeed, and there is the concern that Kamala
- 11:11Speaker 2: Harris may have, or in fact she does, have a
- 11:14Speaker 2: more critical view on Israel than Biden, does. You know,
- 11:17Speaker 2: Despite the tensions in Biden and Netanyahu's relationship, and there
- 11:21Speaker 2: are tensions there, unquestionably they've spilled over into the public domain.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Biden has over his entire career been a firm supporter
- 11:29Speaker 2: of Israel, as has the United States whoever has been
- 11:32Speaker 2: in power. Matt Biden spoke for the first time since
- 11:36Speaker 2: announcing he was quitting the presidential race. Let's have a
- 11:39Speaker 2: listen to that.
- 11:40Speaker 3: So I've decided the best way forward is the past,
- 11:43Speaker 3: the torch for new generation. It's the best waiting an
- 11:47Speaker 3: in our nation. You know, there is a time and
- 11:51Speaker 3: a place for long years of experience in public life.
- 11:55Speaker 3: So there's also a time and a place for new voices,
- 11:58Speaker 3: fresh voices, yes, younger voices, and that time and places now.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Matt Canavan, I thought that was quite a feeble speech,
- 12:08Speaker 2: and you know it also, it really was incredible to
- 12:12Speaker 2: think that just last week he said only the Lord
- 12:14Speaker 2: Almighty could stop him from running again. And then there
- 12:17Speaker 2: was no explanation for why he suddenly came to the
- 12:20Speaker 2: epiphany that it was time to pass the torch to
- 12:23Speaker 2: a younger generation.
- 12:24Speaker 7: What do you think, Well, the only explanation was that
- 12:29Speaker 7: he'd lost the support of his own party.
- 12:31Speaker 1: That's the brief explanation he gave.
- 12:34Speaker 7: Obviously, he felt he was still capable of running and
- 12:38Speaker 7: winning the election. Look, I thought the speech ticked the boxes,
- 12:43Speaker 7: so to speak of HARKing back to America's story beginning
- 12:48Speaker 7: and ideals that it was founded upon. But there is
- 12:53Speaker 7: this still I think tension in the arguments that the
- 12:57Speaker 7: Democratic Party are putting forward in apparently they're running to
- 13:01Speaker 7: save democracy for all Americans sometimes even the world. Yet
- 13:06Speaker 7: if the American people were to elect and vote for
- 13:10Speaker 7: their opponents, that somehow would end democracy. I don't know
- 13:13Speaker 7: how that circle is squared. I mean, that is democracy.
- 13:17Speaker 7: It's up to the people to decide. But somehow to
- 13:20Speaker 7: suggest that the election, the election of your political opponent
- 13:24Speaker 7: would end a democracy as we know it just seems
- 13:28Speaker 7: completely absurd and nonsensical. So look, I think I sort
- 13:32Speaker 7: of hope perhaps after the shocking events of the last
- 13:35Speaker 7: couple of weeks and the almost assassination of Donald Trump,
- 13:39Speaker 7: that some of that outlandish rhetoric would be softened, But
- 13:43Speaker 7: it doesn't seem to be the case. It still heightens
- 13:46Speaker 7: the stakes on all of these questions, which should be
- 13:48Speaker 7: brought down to more on the ground level in my view.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Joe, I thought the actual crafting of the speech,
- 13:54Speaker 2: you know, the speechwriters did a good job. Some of
- 13:57Speaker 2: it was beautiful if it would have been delivered well,
- 13:59Speaker 2: but you know, it was so hard to watch. You
- 14:02Speaker 2: wanted him to give an impressive performance because this is
- 14:05Speaker 2: such a legacy defining speech, was such an important speech
- 14:09Speaker 2: for him. He had his family there, they were emotional,
- 14:13Speaker 2: but you just got the sense the whole time that
- 14:15Speaker 2: he was struggling to read it. He was a minute
- 14:18Speaker 2: away from a stumble or a gaffer. It was just weak.
- 14:21Speaker 6: What did you think, Cherry, You mentioned just their legacy
- 14:26Speaker 6: sort of defining speech for I think the problem for
- 14:30Speaker 6: Joe Biden is he wants to convince Americans now that
- 14:34Speaker 6: this was never about him. It wasn't about his personal ambition.
- 14:38Speaker 6: He revers the office, but he loves America more. He's
- 14:40Speaker 6: putting American families first. But the reality is I think
- 14:45Speaker 6: the problem with the speech is everyone knows that that's
- 14:47Speaker 6: not authentic, that's not real. As Matt said, what happened.
- 14:52Speaker 6: I mean even two weeks ago, Joe Biden said it
- 14:56Speaker 6: would take God Almighty himself, yes, to come down Heaven
- 15:00Speaker 6: and tell him you better withdraw from the race. Well,
- 15:02Speaker 6: that didn't happen. He lost the support, he lost the
- 15:05Speaker 6: support of his party.
- 15:06Speaker 2: And as of course, you think that Nancy Pelosi is
- 15:09Speaker 2: God Almighty and probably some people revere her as much
- 15:12Speaker 2: as if she was God.
- 15:14Speaker 6: Well, look, I think you talked about legacy. I think
- 15:18Speaker 6: he talked about unity for the party. But I think
- 15:21Speaker 6: what's happened is he held on too long. The party
- 15:24Speaker 6: now has been forced to rally around Kamala Harris. It
- 15:27Speaker 6: hasn't had an open and competitive process nomination process, and
- 15:32Speaker 6: if she goes on to lose the presidential election, I
- 15:37Speaker 6: think the legacy issue for Joe Biden will be that
- 15:40Speaker 6: he effectively handicapped the Democrats by holding on for too long.
- 15:45Speaker 6: And I think that a lot of the lofty ideals
- 15:47Speaker 6: which he expressed today will be seen as inauthentic. So
- 15:51Speaker 6: that's the dilemmas. And obviously had to say all those things,
- 15:55Speaker 6: but I'm not sure they had the ring of truth.
- 15:58Speaker 7: No.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Indeed, now turned to federal politics in Australia, and after
- 16:02Speaker 2: weeks of speculation, Anthony Alberinezi finally today announced the resignation
- 16:07Speaker 2: of Indigenous Affairs Minister Linda Bernie and the Skills Minister
- 16:11Speaker 2: Brendan O'Connor.
- 16:12Speaker 8: Have a look, We'll always be grateful for the extraordinary
- 16:16Speaker 8: example which these two fine Australians give of.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Why people should enter public life.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And he'll announce the cabinet reshuffle on Sunday. Andrew Giles,
- 16:29Speaker 2: widely expected to go Matt Canavan. You know Linda Burnie's
- 16:33Speaker 2: great contribution to public life was putting Indigenous affairs on
- 16:37Speaker 2: the table. She would say it's the voice. Clearly that
- 16:41Speaker 2: did divide Australia. In the end, in Australian's voted no.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So how do you think she'll be remembered.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Look, it's a bit hard to say.
- 16:50Speaker 7: I think, as you say, her really only major initiative
- 16:56Speaker 7: as the Indigenous Affairs minister was was the Voice, and.
- 17:01Speaker 1: It utterly failed. I'm not so sure it divided us
- 17:04Speaker 1: too much.
- 17:04Speaker 7: It united us quite a lot against it, but not
- 17:06Speaker 7: in the way that Minister Ernie would have hoped. So look,
- 17:10Speaker 7: obviously that will go down in our nation's history. It's
- 17:15Speaker 7: one of less than fifty referendus we've had. But her
- 17:19Speaker 7: legacy probably will be one that she wasn't successful. But look,
- 17:23Speaker 7: she's done her best and I wish her well. The
- 17:26Speaker 7: test for Anthony Alberonezi there was not to accept the
- 17:29Speaker 7: voluntary resignations he has today. It's to force the resignation
- 17:33Speaker 7: of underperforming ministers and show some accountability to the Australian
- 17:37Speaker 7: people for such underperformance, as you.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Mentioned, Edred Giles.
- 17:40Speaker 7: But Clara O'Neil as well has been a partner in
- 17:43Speaker 7: crime here in the release of more criminals onto our
- 17:46Speaker 7: nation shores since the days of the First Fleet.
- 17:49Speaker 1: So that's the real test here.
- 17:50Speaker 7: Is there going to be accountability in the Prime Minister's
- 17:53Speaker 7: cabinet and ministry for such gross failures of governance?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Oh Joe, who do you expect to be promoted and
- 18:01Speaker 2: demoted in this reshuffle? And do you think there's any
- 18:03Speaker 2: chance because I don't that Andrew Giles will be sacked.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I think you'll just be moved to another job.
- 18:10Speaker 6: Well, look, we know that there'll be at least two
- 18:12Speaker 6: people getting promoted. There are two resignations. They're both left
- 18:16Speaker 6: wing positions, so they'll be left wing promotions. It's widely
- 18:19Speaker 6: accepted that Senator Mellandarry McCarthy is very likely going to
- 18:23Speaker 6: be promoted to take on that Indigenous Affairs portfolio. But
- 18:27Speaker 6: some of the other left wing promotions. People are talking
- 18:30Speaker 6: about assistant ministers like Jed Carney getting promoted. But then
- 18:35Speaker 6: there are also a range of left wing backbenches like
- 18:40Speaker 6: Julian Hill, Josh Wilson. The people are talking about promotions
- 18:43Speaker 6: for them too. I think the key thing for Anthony Albanize.
- 18:46Speaker 6: Is he going to do a very limited reshuffle where
- 18:49Speaker 6: he does as little change as possible, or is he
- 18:52Speaker 6: going to take this as an opportunity to do a
- 18:55Speaker 6: broader reset. And I think there is a compelling case
- 18:59Speaker 6: to do were broader reset. I think Immigration and Home
- 19:02Speaker 6: Affairs should be swapped up. I think new people should
- 19:07Speaker 6: go into those portfolios. I think there's a case too
- 19:09Speaker 6: for someone to replace Julie Collins in housing. Do I
- 19:13Speaker 6: think Anthony Albanezi is actually going to take those big
- 19:16Speaker 6: steps and dump Andrew Giles to the backbench. I think
- 19:22Speaker 6: it's very unlikely.
- 19:25Speaker 2: And of course the other thing that he'll be considering
- 19:28Speaker 2: is the faction. So you know, even though there might
- 19:30Speaker 2: be someone very talented like Andrew Charlton who comes on
- 19:33Speaker 2: this show regularly. I mean he ran the economic strategy
- 19:37Speaker 2: for Kevin rud during the global financial crisis, there is
- 19:41Speaker 2: no one potentially more experienced who should be entering the ministry.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Yet he won't because he is a white male from
- 19:49Speaker 2: the right faction. So all of these considerations when you're
- 19:53Speaker 2: in the Labor Party at least will be balanced up.
- 19:56Speaker 2: All right, Matt canavanro Kelly, thank you both very much
- 19:59Speaker 2: for your time. Now, after the break, we'll go live
- 20:01Speaker 2: to the US after the capital was stormed by Hamas supporters,
- 20:05Speaker 2: plus a shocking new detail from the FBI about Trump's
- 20:09Speaker 2: would be assassin. All of that coming up, welcome back.
- 20:16Speaker 9: Well.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Four days after dropping out of the presidential race, Joe
- 20:20Speaker 2: Biden finally fronted the nation and Well, his intention was
- 20:24Speaker 2: to explain his decision, but it didn't quite end up
- 20:27Speaker 2: like that. He mumbled and bumbled his way through a
- 20:29Speaker 2: twelve minute speech.
- 20:31Speaker 3: I've come so far since my inauguration on that day,
- 20:36Speaker 3: I told you as I stood in the winter, we're
- 20:39Speaker 3: stood in a winter of peril and winter possibilities. When
- 20:44Speaker 3: Ben Franklin was asked as he emerged from the convention,
- 20:51Speaker 3: going on in this moment, we can see those we
- 20:55Speaker 3: disagree with not as enemies, but as fellow Americans.
- 21:00Speaker 2: All Right, for more on this, let's bring in the
- 21:02Speaker 2: former acting United States Attorney General, Matthew Whittaker. Matthew, thank
- 21:06Speaker 2: you very much for your time. Look, isn't it ironic
- 21:09Speaker 2: that the Democratic National Committee has finalized a plan to
- 21:13Speaker 2: nominate Kamala Harris before the convention, effectively to prevent any
- 21:18Speaker 2: other contenders or any debate, the first time the Democrats
- 21:23Speaker 2: have used such a process. And yet we heard Joe
- 21:25Speaker 2: Biden speak about democracy over and over and over again.
- 21:29Speaker 2: It was the main word he used in his speech, Well,
- 21:34Speaker 2: good to.
- 21:34Speaker 10: Be with you in greetings from the United States. You know,
- 21:37Speaker 10: we are in a kind of silly moment in American history.
- 21:43Speaker 10: It is both you know, not real or not serious.
- 21:47Speaker 10: What's happening with the Democrat Party where they allegedly, you know,
- 21:51Speaker 10: are fighting for democracy, but are now going to run
- 21:55Speaker 10: the most democratic nomination process ever history of major parties.
- 22:02Speaker 10: And at the same time, we're never more insecure from
- 22:06Speaker 10: the threats that the United States faces. And you know,
- 22:09Speaker 10: you couple all that together and I think there's a
- 22:12Speaker 10: lot of sincere concern of whether or not Joe Biden
- 22:16Speaker 10: is really in charge and whether he is up to
- 22:18Speaker 10: doing the job. And it's sad to say, you know,
- 22:21Speaker 10: to watch that speech that he gave last night is
- 22:25Speaker 10: just surreal. He's having a very hard time articulating himself.
- 22:30Speaker 10: And yet, you know, for the last many months and
- 22:33Speaker 10: quite frankly many years, the left in the United States
- 22:36Speaker 10: has been telling us that, you know, he runs circles
- 22:40Speaker 10: around everybody, and he's sharp as attack.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Indeed, But in the end that only worked against the
- 22:46Speaker 2: interests because they could have elected the best possible candidate
- 22:50Speaker 2: if they'd gone through the proper process months ago. Instead,
- 22:54Speaker 2: they're at this late stage and they only have Kamala Harris,
- 22:58Speaker 2: who may be the best candidate, but hasn't been put
- 23:00Speaker 2: through the ringer and been able to go through those
- 23:03Speaker 2: interrogations and the debates against others. I agree with you. You
- 23:07Speaker 2: got the sense that he was struggling to read that
- 23:09Speaker 2: speech clearly. But what about the Republicans who are saying
- 23:13Speaker 2: he should now step down as president? But you know,
- 23:16Speaker 2: should they really be calling for that, because that would
- 23:19Speaker 2: truly give Kamala the best chance of beating Donald trumpet
- 23:23Speaker 2: if she were the president.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Now, Yeah, I.
- 23:26Speaker 10: Think on the one hand, it would elevate her and
- 23:29Speaker 10: make her have more of a spotlight. But at the
- 23:34Speaker 10: same time, I think those of us that have watched
- 23:37Speaker 10: her over the last really five or six years know
- 23:40Speaker 10: that she has some limitations, whether that's her policies better ultraliberal,
- 23:46Speaker 10: or whether that's her personality. You know, it's it's hard
- 23:49Speaker 10: to find anybody that actually is a fan or that
- 23:53Speaker 10: likes the Vice president. You know, it is very clear
- 23:55Speaker 10: to me that as the American people get to know her,
- 23:58Speaker 10: they're going to have more questions than answers. And you know,
- 24:02Speaker 10: they've done a terrible time of launching her right now.
- 24:05Speaker 10: You know, she's being outspent really almost sixty to one
- 24:10Speaker 10: on advertising in swing states.
- 24:12Speaker 1: And you know she's doing well.
- 24:14Speaker 2: At fundraising though. She just raised one hundred million dollars
- 24:17Speaker 2: since someday. I mean that's extraordinary.
- 24:20Speaker 10: Yeah, but this is going to be a billion dollars
- 24:23Speaker 10: plus on both sides. You know, last time Republicans in
- 24:27Speaker 10: twenty twenty were I'd spent eight billion to two billion
- 24:30Speaker 10: if you've had it all up. So there's a lot
- 24:32Speaker 10: of money slashing around politics in the United States.
- 24:34Speaker 1: But you're right.
- 24:35Speaker 10: I mean, she'll be a powerful fundraiser, but that may
- 24:37Speaker 10: not be able to make up for her personal limitations.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 2: All right, Well, let's look at the revelations from FBI
- 24:42Speaker 2: Director Christopher Ray today, and it was revealed that Thomas
- 24:46Speaker 2: Matthew Crooks, that of course, was the gunman who tried
- 24:49Speaker 2: to kill Trump. Will he researched the jfk assassination a
- 24:53Speaker 2: week before he tried to kill Trump. We now know
- 24:58Speaker 2: that he typed into Google. Half our away was Oswald
- 25:01Speaker 2: from Kennedy. He was also flying a drone for eleven
- 25:05Speaker 2: whole minutes, eleven minutes of a drone flying in the
- 25:08Speaker 2: air around where Trump was about to speak, right before
- 25:12Speaker 2: the attempted assassination. What did you think of these revelations
- 25:16Speaker 2: and Christopher Raise evidence today.
- 25:19Speaker 10: Well, it was good to hear from Chris what they
- 25:23Speaker 10: have learned so far. I think it was much better
- 25:26Speaker 10: than these former Secret Service director who gave us no
- 25:30Speaker 10: answers and really raised more questions. But at the same time,
- 25:34Speaker 10: there are still too many questions. This was a massive failure.
- 25:38Speaker 10: You know, we almost lost President Trump, whether by luck
- 25:42Speaker 10: or some of us, like myself, believed revine providence. You know,
- 25:46Speaker 10: he is alive, but there were too many single points
- 25:50Speaker 10: of failure that have been revealed.
- 25:54Speaker 1: And I also am concerned that a lot of what
- 25:56Speaker 1: we learned.
- 25:57Speaker 10: Is from leaks previously to director Raised testimony.
- 26:01Speaker 1: And I worked with Chris.
- 26:02Speaker 10: Ray both in the Bush administration and in the Trump administration,
- 26:06Speaker 10: and I know him to be a street shooter. I
- 26:10Speaker 10: think I wish he would be a little stronger leader
- 26:12Speaker 10: at the FBI. But that being said, I think he did,
- 26:16Speaker 10: you know, lay out what they know and where they're
- 26:19Speaker 10: going with this investigation.
- 26:21Speaker 2: His performance was definitely far more impressive than the head
- 26:25Speaker 2: of the Secret Service, who obviously had to step down
- 26:27Speaker 2: after hurt shocking performance. But no question, there needs to
- 26:31Speaker 2: be a proper inquiry so we can find out how
- 26:33Speaker 2: this happened. Now, just before you go, I want to
- 26:37Speaker 2: ask you your view. The Secret Service has said or
- 26:39Speaker 2: they've advised Trump's campaign to stop doing outdoor rallies. Now,
- 26:44Speaker 2: Trump is famous for his outdoor rallies. He loves them,
- 26:47Speaker 2: his fans love them. It's kind of his trademark. What
- 26:51Speaker 2: do you think about this? I mean, they're admitting effectively
- 26:54Speaker 2: that they can't properly guarantee his security.
- 26:58Speaker 10: Yeah, you know, I've been to probably more rallies than
- 27:01Speaker 10: I can count, having helped him win the Iowa Caucuses
- 27:04Speaker 10: and having you know, been to so many of the
- 27:08Speaker 10: outdoor rallies and the indoor rallies. And you're right, I mean,
- 27:11Speaker 10: the president enjoys the outdoor rallies, but they obviously, you know,
- 27:15Speaker 10: we learned our harder secure. But at the same time,
- 27:19Speaker 10: I think you add it all up and until the
- 27:23Speaker 10: Secret Service gets their act together, and until they learn
- 27:26Speaker 10: these lessons that we should have learned when JFK was assassinated.
- 27:30Speaker 10: I think you know that it is probably correct to
- 27:32Speaker 10: do a few indoor rallies. The problem is that the
- 27:35Speaker 10: rallies serve a couple purposes. One is to obviously get
- 27:38Speaker 10: the Trump supporters in the base together. But at the
- 27:42Speaker 10: same time, I think the other thing that it does
- 27:44Speaker 10: is it shows force, and it shows a strength of
- 27:48Speaker 10: the campaign and the grassroots that Donald Trump only can bring.
- 27:53Speaker 2: All right, Matt wat Katt really appreciate your time this
- 27:57Speaker 2: evening or early morning for you. Thank you so much.
- 27:59Speaker 2: And Matt of course former acting Attorney General in the
- 28:02Speaker 2: United States. Now, if the recent political shakeups in the
- 28:05Speaker 2: White House weren't enough, today, as I said earlier in
- 28:08Speaker 2: the show, we saw unprecedented levels of chaos in Washington.
- 28:13Speaker 2: The American flag burned, her Musk supporters saying that her
- 28:18Speaker 2: muss was coming to the US. This was just outrageous.
- 28:22Speaker 2: And all of this was because Israeli Prime Minister Benjainette
- 28:26Speaker 2: and Yaho delivered a powerful argument for Western support of
- 28:30Speaker 2: Israel in Congress. Here's another part of what he had
- 28:34Speaker 2: to say.
- 28:35Speaker 4: It's a clash between barbarism and civilization. It's a clash
- 28:45Speaker 4: between those who glorified death and those who sanctify life.
- 28:57Speaker 4: For the forces of civilization to triumph, America and Israel
- 29:01Speaker 4: must stand together.
- 29:07Speaker 2: By the way, Elon Musk was sitting in the crowd
- 29:10Speaker 2: in Congress watching that speech. He was a guest of Netanyahu's,
- 29:13Speaker 2: so even more reason to like Elon Musk. Let's bring
- 29:17Speaker 2: in now IRNC spokesperson Elizabeth Pipco, Elizabeth, welcome to the show. Look,
- 29:22Speaker 2: during Netanyahu's address, we saw dozens of Democrats. Have seen
- 29:26Speaker 2: reports that it was fifty. Other reports say eighty, but
- 29:29Speaker 2: either way, a large number of Democrats actually walked out.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I mean, this is meant to be a democracy. You
- 29:35Speaker 2: don't have to like Nettunya who you can hate him,
- 29:38Speaker 2: but surely they should at least show the respect of
- 29:40Speaker 2: listening to what he has to say.
- 29:44Speaker 5: I completely agree. I said it yesterday. Actually, unless the
- 29:47Speaker 5: reports have changed. According to Axios yesterday, nearly half of
- 29:50Speaker 5: elected Democrats that not show up for the speech, Like
- 29:53Speaker 5: you said, they should just hear him out and listen
- 29:56Speaker 5: to what he has to say. This is the democratically
- 29:59Speaker 5: elected leader of one of our strongest and closest allies.
- 30:02Speaker 2: It's also the.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Leader of a country currently fighting for its survival unless
- 30:06Speaker 5: excuse me, against a terrorist group. A terrorist group that is,
- 30:09Speaker 5: like he mentioned last night, not just Israel's enemy but
- 30:11Speaker 5: also our enemy here in the United States. Let's not
- 30:14Speaker 5: forget there are also American hostages still locked up right now,
- 30:18Speaker 5: still being held by this group. And he is fighting,
- 30:21Speaker 5: just like we would hopefully be fighting, to release those hostages,
- 30:24Speaker 5: to bring them home. And to not show up to
- 30:27Speaker 5: his speech the shere disrespect from him and by the way,
- 30:30Speaker 5: respect from him, but also from the Vice president. Let's
- 30:33Speaker 5: not forget. This is a man who showed up knowing
- 30:36Speaker 5: that nearly half of Democrats weren't going to be there,
- 30:38Speaker 5: but not assuming that the vice president of the United
- 30:41Speaker 5: States would not even show up, the person who's now
- 30:43Speaker 5: the presumptive nominee running for president here. For the Democrat
- 30:46Speaker 5: Party to not show up when Israel is in this
- 30:48Speaker 5: war again, when Americans are still held hostage, I think
- 30:51Speaker 5: was disgraceful. And you mentioned what was going on outside
- 30:53Speaker 5: that might have been even worse than the lack of
- 30:55Speaker 5: support inside. These are far left protesters burning the American flag,
- 31:00Speaker 5: as a leader of another country stands and applauds those
- 31:03Speaker 5: that support and stand for our flag inside. So I
- 31:06Speaker 5: think the contrast could not be more evident. And I
- 31:09Speaker 5: truly am just saddened as a proud American for what
- 31:11Speaker 5: I start happening yesterday.
- 31:13Speaker 2: And you know what, it's not just that it was
- 31:14Speaker 2: disrespectful to Neeta Yaoho. He's a politician, he can take it.
- 31:18Speaker 2: But Noah Agamani was there. She was She became one
- 31:22Speaker 2: of the most famous hostages around the world when she
- 31:25Speaker 2: was kidnapped on October seven. You know, the beautiful young
- 31:27Speaker 2: girl on the back of a motorcycle, kidnapped by her musk,
- 31:31Speaker 2: rescued only recently in a risky and daring mission by
- 31:35Speaker 2: Israel which cost one Israeli soldier their life. She was rescued.
- 31:39Speaker 2: She was there today watching Netanyahu's address. How would she
- 31:43Speaker 2: have felt to arrive in the Capitol and see all
- 31:45Speaker 2: these people saying her muss is coming and supporting her muscle.
- 31:48Speaker 2: The trauma, the heartlessness, it's just shocking. And now I
- 31:53Speaker 2: want to turn to your role as a spokesperson for
- 31:55Speaker 2: the Republican Party. How do you think Donald Trump, your party,
- 32:00Speaker 2: the Republicans are going to have to shift their messaging
- 32:03Speaker 2: now to take on Kamala Harrison. Are you more worried
- 32:07Speaker 2: about her winning than you were Joe Biden.
- 32:11Speaker 1: So it's a fair question.
- 32:12Speaker 5: It's what a lot of people are discussing right now,
- 32:14Speaker 5: and I think for us, the strategy remains the same. Look,
- 32:18Speaker 5: we can't deny the fact that Kamala Harris was on
- 32:21Speaker 5: this ticket right with Joe Biden. She was in this
- 32:23Speaker 5: administration with Joe Biden the entire time. She owns the
- 32:26Speaker 5: failures of this administration. She owns everything that the American
- 32:29Speaker 5: people are feeling right now, and she owns the fact
- 32:32Speaker 5: that we still don't know how Joe Biden is doing.
- 32:35Speaker 5: We still don't know how long he has been in
- 32:38Speaker 5: this decline. We still don't know what happened at that
- 32:40Speaker 5: last debate, We don't know what people around him knew,
- 32:43Speaker 5: including Kamala Harris, And she has to own all of
- 32:45Speaker 5: that because the American people deserve some kind of answers.
- 32:48Speaker 5: So I think for us, it's about just being transparent here,
- 32:51Speaker 5: being honest. Everybody knows everything they need to know about
- 32:54Speaker 5: Donald Trump and where he stands on every single issue.
- 32:56Speaker 5: They've known for a while that he was going to
- 32:58Speaker 5: be the nominee as well. And for us, it's about
- 33:00Speaker 5: going against not the individual that is Kamala Harris, but
- 33:03Speaker 5: the policies of this administration, the policies of the left,
- 33:06Speaker 5: and the policies that the majority of Americans agree right
- 33:09Speaker 5: now are just not working for them.
- 33:11Speaker 2: But what is this answer? You more worried about taking
- 33:14Speaker 2: her on than Joe Biden.
- 33:16Speaker 5: We're certainly not more worried, but it's it's you know,
- 33:19Speaker 5: it's an interesting time in American politics right We don't
- 33:22Speaker 5: even know yet if she is one hundred percent going
- 33:24Speaker 5: to be the candidate. We certainly don't know who her
- 33:27Speaker 5: vice president is going to be. And I think three
- 33:29Speaker 5: months out from an election to kind of know that
- 33:31Speaker 5: this is what's happening, it's weird for us to know
- 33:34Speaker 5: that that's where the American people are right now, not
- 33:36Speaker 5: knowing what their choice is. It's weird for us not
- 33:38Speaker 5: knowing who our competitors are. But against we are a
- 33:41Speaker 5: party right now going against another party which we don't
- 33:43Speaker 5: believe has the best interest of the American people in mind.
- 33:47Speaker 5: That's all that we need to know and what was
- 33:48Speaker 5: on display yesterday you and I just talked about is
- 33:50Speaker 5: all the American people need to know. She was not
- 33:52Speaker 5: there as American flags were being burned, and a speech
- 33:56Speaker 5: of our ally, who's fighting a war technically with the
- 33:58Speaker 5: American people right now to release our own hostages was
- 34:02Speaker 5: completely ignored by her. And that's all people need to
- 34:04Speaker 5: know about this candidate and this ticket.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Yeah all right, Elizabeth Pipco, thank you very much for
- 34:09Speaker 2: your time. Now still to come as Democrats walk out.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Annette Yahoo, a mother whose young daughter is still being
- 34:16Speaker 2: held hostage, will join me next. Plus what went down
- 34:19Speaker 2: on Wall Street with the one trillion dollar wipeout? And
- 34:23Speaker 2: could we be facing a recession here in Australia. All
- 34:26Speaker 2: that and more coming up welcome back. Well, even more
- 34:33Speaker 2: economists are concerned that we could potentially face a recession
- 34:36Speaker 2: in Australia. We're going to come back to that in
- 34:38Speaker 2: a moment, But first let's look back at two hundred
- 34:41Speaker 2: and ninety two days ago when twenty three year old
- 34:45Speaker 2: Romy Gonen was taken hostage by her mus at the
- 34:48Speaker 2: Nova Music Festival. She was shot and captured along with
- 34:52Speaker 2: three of her friends. Well, Romy's mother, Merav Leshem Gonen
- 34:56Speaker 2: joins me live now. Thank you so much your time.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Really appreciate it. I can can't even possibly imagine how
- 35:03Speaker 2: difficult it is for you to speak about this topic.
- 35:06Speaker 2: So we do appreciate your time. Look your daughter around
- 35:10Speaker 2: you while she was trying to escape being taken by
- 35:14Speaker 2: her mask on October seven. Can you tell us what
- 35:17Speaker 2: she said to you in that phone call?
- 35:20Speaker 9: Well, she was on the phone with us for four
- 35:23Speaker 9: and a half hours on the phone or on what'sapp.
- 35:28Speaker 9: But the last phone call started at ten fourteen, and
- 35:32Speaker 9: when she was you know, I was picking up the
- 35:35Speaker 9: phone and she said, Mom, hair was shot, I'm bleeding
- 35:38Speaker 9: and I think I'm going to die, and that her
- 35:41Speaker 9: friend is not speaking anymore. Her friend said in the
- 35:44Speaker 9: front and that the driver was killed. And that's how
- 35:48Speaker 9: the phone call started. Forty five minutes of which I'm
- 35:52Speaker 9: trying to help, trying to see who can come and
- 35:54Speaker 9: rescue my daughter, trying to talk to the army, to
- 35:58Speaker 9: the police, trying to understand where she is, and hearing
- 36:03Speaker 9: around her all the shooting and the fighting that were
- 36:06Speaker 9: going on around the car. And finally I heard them,
- 36:13Speaker 9: the terrorists coming to the car, opening the door trying
- 36:18Speaker 9: to start the car.
- 36:21Speaker 1: And speaking about.
- 36:23Speaker 9: My daughter, saying she's alive, and then going to her
- 36:28Speaker 9: side of the car and taking her out by her
- 36:32Speaker 9: long beautiful hair and pulling her on the road, hurting
- 36:36Speaker 9: her back, and when she was trying to look and
- 36:38Speaker 9: see what is going on, she was punched in the
- 36:41Speaker 9: face and then the phone was hang out.
- 36:46Speaker 2: And merav that was the last time you spoke to
- 36:49Speaker 2: your daughter that phone call.
- 36:51Speaker 9: Yes, yes, you have to understand. Being held by Chamas
- 36:55Speaker 9: is not a prison. This is not prison.
- 36:58Speaker 1: This is.
- 37:00Speaker 9: Pere hatred, pure evil terrorists that holding my daughter and
- 37:06Speaker 9: other women and men underground in tunnels, no phone call,
- 37:13Speaker 9: nobody visits them, no doctor, no nothing. My daughter is
- 37:17Speaker 9: there underground for two hundred and twenty and ninety three
- 37:22Speaker 9: days already, and I expect the world to shout to
- 37:27Speaker 9: say something. Twelve women are still alive there and some
- 37:32Speaker 9: of the men are also alive.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Well used to say still alive. And we absolutely pray
- 37:38Speaker 2: with everything that your daughter is still alive. What have
- 37:43Speaker 2: you got news of her? Have you what makes you
- 37:46Speaker 2: believe that she is still holding on?
- 37:50Speaker 9: First time a mother, I know she's alive. This is nowhere,
- 37:53Speaker 9: There is nowhere you mean, and I'm sure about mother's instinct, yes,
- 38:00Speaker 9: but this is not just the instinct. We know from
- 38:03Speaker 9: the women that came back on the last deal that
- 38:06Speaker 9: they were with her in the tunnels. I know she
- 38:10Speaker 9: was alive. I know she is alive, and I know
- 38:12Speaker 9: we have to bring her back as soon as possible.
- 38:15Speaker 9: Just yesterday we got the message about two of the
- 38:21Speaker 9: men that were murdered in Commas, and and five bodies
- 38:26Speaker 9: were returned yesterday from people who were murdered also by
- 38:30Speaker 9: the Commas. This is an impossible state. These are, you know, civilians.
- 38:36Speaker 9: My daughter is almost one four, she will be in
- 38:39Speaker 9: August twenty four. This is something unimaginable.
- 38:44Speaker 2: It truly is very passionable. I don't know how you
- 38:47Speaker 2: bear it every single day for the past nine and
- 38:49Speaker 2: a half months. I can't We can't even begin to
- 38:52Speaker 2: imagine what your nights are like, how you possibly sleep
- 38:56Speaker 2: and survive. You've said that one of your biggest concerns
- 39:00Speaker 2: for Romi is any sexual assault that she might be
- 39:04Speaker 2: facing at the hands of these terrorists, and and tragically,
- 39:08Speaker 2: we know that rape is something that harmas uses as
- 39:12Speaker 2: a as a taller weapon of war. I understand you
- 39:16Speaker 2: spoke to United Nations officials recently, Is this something that
- 39:20Speaker 2: you raised with them.
- 39:23Speaker 9: I was in the last Committee of Human Rights, and
- 39:29Speaker 9: everything I heard them was everything except human rights, at
- 39:34Speaker 9: least a human rights of Jewish people, because they were
- 39:39Speaker 9: talking about what is happening to the women in prison
- 39:43Speaker 9: as merely a parade, which was they were shouted at
- 39:48Speaker 9: and that's all. But we know we heard Amitsusana. Amitsusana
- 39:52Speaker 9: already said she has a very long testimony of what
- 39:57Speaker 9: happened to her in Gaza, and we need the world
- 40:00Speaker 9: to understand Hamas is raping women. I don't know which
- 40:05Speaker 9: of the hostages is being Each and every one of
- 40:09Speaker 9: them is actually harassed in some way, even if it
- 40:14Speaker 9: is only a man that is looking at you twenty
- 40:17Speaker 9: four hours a day, seven days a week, every minute.
- 40:20Speaker 9: Even when you go to the bathroom, if there is
- 40:23Speaker 9: a bathroom, it's not exactly a bathroom in the tunnels.
- 40:26Speaker 9: I don't know if you saw the pictures, of course,
- 40:28Speaker 9: So the human rights of the UN, I guess they
- 40:31Speaker 9: don't see Jewish women as something that deserves to have
- 40:37Speaker 9: a privaty or you know, I don't have words to say.
- 40:43Speaker 9: I was so angry when I visited the committee and
- 40:47Speaker 9: I had a speech of five minutes of which I exclaimed,
- 40:51Speaker 9: the world Hamas is pure evil. It's very nice to
- 40:55Speaker 9: stay very nice things in a cozy, warm or cold
- 41:00Speaker 9: place where you are protected. But I want to see
- 41:03Speaker 9: each and every one of this committee guys coming to
- 41:06Speaker 9: gus and trying to say the same.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you. It's absolutely disgusting that all
- 41:11Speaker 2: the women's groups and all these so called feminists haven't
- 41:14Speaker 2: been fighting for the return of the hostages. Mirav. All
- 41:18Speaker 2: of our hearts go out to you. We pray for
- 41:21Speaker 2: the day that you are able to hold your little
- 41:24Speaker 2: girl in your arms again. Look, we on build the same.
- 41:30Speaker 2: It's so hard, and we just have to applaud you
- 41:32Speaker 2: on your courage for doing media interviews like this one.
- 41:35Speaker 2: We can't even imagine how hard it is for you
- 41:37Speaker 2: to speak out, but you're doing it. And when your
- 41:39Speaker 2: daughter comes home, because we believe she will come home
- 41:42Speaker 2: when she is, I'm sure she'll be so proud of
- 41:44Speaker 2: your courage. So Merav, thank you very.
- 41:46Speaker 9: Much, Thank you, thank you very much to you too.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Now, after the break, more concerns or recession could be
- 41:53Speaker 2: on the cards. While in the US, a one trillion
- 41:56Speaker 2: dollar Wall Street wipe out, plus Fadam a payman's audacity
- 42:00Speaker 2: and demanding Albanezi give her even more resources after she'd
- 42:04Speaker 2: left the labor fault. My panel, welcome back. Well, let's
- 42:11Speaker 2: bring in tonight's panel now commentator Jason Morrison, who happens
- 42:14Speaker 2: to be in the Fox News studio in New York,
- 42:17Speaker 2: and PR Council Managing Director Christy McSweeney. Good to see
- 42:21Speaker 2: you both, Jason, Christy, Let's have a look at the
- 42:24Speaker 2: economy because we're hearing this report from Deloit Access Economics
- 42:30Speaker 2: that warns another rate hike, and we are expecting there
- 42:34Speaker 2: to be at least one, potentially two, and Warren Hogan
- 42:37Speaker 2: last night said that even could be three rate hikes
- 42:40Speaker 2: this year. I doubt that'll happen, but we are expecting
- 42:43Speaker 2: rate hikes this year, and Deloitte economists are saying that
- 42:46Speaker 2: this actually could push us over into a recession. So Christy,
- 42:52Speaker 2: this is a very fine line that the alban Ezy government,
- 42:55Speaker 2: that the Treasurer of Jim Chalmers needs to walk here
- 42:58Speaker 2: to try and you know, take the pressure off inflation
- 43:02Speaker 2: and the RBA as well, of course without falling into recession.
- 43:09Speaker 11: The government has two options here, waite and hope and
- 43:12Speaker 11: pray that the RBI gives them some reprieve between the
- 43:18Speaker 11: end of this year and the full term of March
- 43:20Speaker 11: next year for the election, or hope, which I don't
- 43:24Speaker 11: think is possible, that their own policies around setting white
- 43:29Speaker 11: hikes for certain union cohorts and working with the AC
- 43:33Speaker 11: to you to deliver wage increases, is going to reset
- 43:37Speaker 11: the economy and increase productivity.
- 43:40Speaker 2: It won't.
- 43:42Speaker 11: Like all the economists that you mentioned suggesting that we
- 43:45Speaker 11: will have another right hike, there is not an economist
- 43:49Speaker 11: in Australia who's suggesting that any of the libor's industrial
- 43:53Speaker 11: relations agenda is going to increase productivity and do something
- 43:59Speaker 11: to off set the cost of living and the spiraling
- 44:04Speaker 11: cost of goods and consumer household spending that we are
- 44:09Speaker 11: in in Australia. So I think we'll go full term
- 44:11Speaker 11: to the election with one or possibly two rate hikes
- 44:15Speaker 11: under our belt.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Well, they will certainly be hoping that there's a cut
- 44:19Speaker 2: at least in the first quarter of next year. But Jason, meanwhile,
- 44:23Speaker 2: Wall Street had its worst day in almost two years.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Trillion dollars wiped off stocks. Tesla is one of the
- 44:29Speaker 2: stocks that had a sharp fall. What else can you
- 44:32Speaker 2: tell us? You're in New York, Jason, what else is
- 44:35Speaker 2: to blame for this Wall Street result?
- 44:39Speaker 8: I can tell you I'm as broke today as I
- 44:40Speaker 8: was yesterday. So for a personal level, like everyone, it
- 44:44Speaker 8: doesn't really matter where these graphs go. It just sort
- 44:46Speaker 8: of feels like it's the same story. All I can
- 44:48Speaker 8: tell you here is that everyone is saying, you know, shock, horror,
- 44:51Speaker 8: big dip. But the real story is you look at
- 44:54Speaker 8: the long term and for the last twelve months, it's
- 44:57Speaker 8: been up and up and up and up and up
- 44:58Speaker 8: and up, and it had a little bit of a
- 45:00Speaker 8: down yesterday. And to give you some context there's always
- 45:03Speaker 8: worth getting context, is that yesterday's down took us back
- 45:07Speaker 8: about a week and a half of the ups. So
- 45:09Speaker 8: for all the shock and horror of these statistics, the
- 45:12Speaker 8: truth is it's been good earnings for quite a bit
- 45:14Speaker 8: of time.
- 45:15Speaker 1: It's this parallel universe.
- 45:16Speaker 8: It's like the Australian share market. It's doing well, yet
- 45:20Speaker 8: all of us don't feel like we're doing well. And
- 45:23Speaker 8: I guess in a time when you know, they keep
- 45:25Speaker 8: telling us it's about constraint and restraint, and the same
- 45:28Speaker 8: messages over in the United States. At the moment, I
- 45:31Speaker 8: got to say, I have never seen things more expensive here,
- 45:34Speaker 8: and the same way I've never felt it as expensive
- 45:36Speaker 8: it is back home. We've got very similar kind of
- 45:39Speaker 8: problems at the moment with big taxing governments that just
- 45:42Speaker 8: seem to find ways to push up our prices through
- 45:45Speaker 8: stupid decisions. And if it's not in Australia electricity bills,
- 45:49Speaker 8: I was stunned to see how much they pay for
- 45:50Speaker 8: electricity in the US metrol excise and Australia is about
- 45:54Speaker 8: to go up soon. So it's all sort of flowing
- 45:56Speaker 8: into each other. But that's the real story of the
- 45:58Speaker 8: Wall Street drop. It's just a balance out.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Yeah, well, let's quickly have a look at farmer labor
- 46:04Speaker 2: Senator Fatima payment. She's made a big request of Albaneze,
- 46:07Speaker 2: even though she walked out on him, crossed the floor.
- 46:10Speaker 2: She's now asking for extra staff, according to this story
- 46:13Speaker 2: in The Nightly, as she embarks on a twelve day
- 46:16Speaker 2: listening tour of regional w A town's Christy. I'm not
- 46:20Speaker 2: sure this is a word she'd use, but this is
- 46:22Speaker 2: some hutzpat from Fatima payment.
- 46:26Speaker 11: Absolutely, I agree with you. I'm not sure if some
- 46:28Speaker 11: word she would use either, she would probably use it
- 46:31Speaker 11: as entitlement. First of all, I don't think fatim payment
- 46:35Speaker 11: has ever been to regional Western Australia. I'm a regional
- 46:38Speaker 11: Western Australian. There's nobody there that's ever heard of her.
- 46:42Speaker 11: I'm not entirely sure why she wants to go on
- 46:44Speaker 11: a tour of regional Western Australia. Second of all, I
- 46:49Speaker 11: campaigned at that election, that same election of which Senator
- 46:53Speaker 11: Payment was elected at, not one single constituent or one
- 46:59Speaker 11: single lie raised support for Palestine with me as an
- 47:04Speaker 11: issue that's highly relevant to the constituency overall of Western
- 47:09Speaker 11: Australia and wymps on both sides of Parliament tell me
- 47:14Speaker 11: there's not a significant volume of correspondence coming into the office.
- 47:19Speaker 11: That's interesting because the way that you know, some labor
- 47:23Speaker 11: politicians are very worried about it in marginal seats in
- 47:26Speaker 11: Sydney and Melbourne.
- 47:27Speaker 8: Jason, Yeah, this is the diversity pick gone wrong. And
- 47:33Speaker 8: you know one of the stories that goes with the
- 47:35Speaker 8: diversity movement is take take take guess what she's doing.
- 47:40Speaker 8: Anyone shocked really.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Mm, well, well you can ask for more resources, but
- 47:46Speaker 2: albin Eezy can easily say no. But I think the
- 47:49Speaker 2: point I was trying to get at is that are
- 47:51Speaker 2: these independent Muslim candidates who are considering I mean, they
- 47:54Speaker 2: seem like the groupings in a bit of disarray at
- 47:57Speaker 2: the moment, but they are threatening to run against Labor politicians,
- 48:00Speaker 2: and there are Labor politicians in marginal seats in Western
- 48:04Speaker 2: Sydney and in Melbourne where this could be a real
- 48:07Speaker 2: issue in this domestic politics. It is part of the
- 48:10Speaker 2: reason that many think, including me, that Foreign Minister Pennywong,
- 48:15Speaker 2: you know, did what she did today, that why she
- 48:18Speaker 2: is being so publicly critical of Israel. But look the
- 48:21Speaker 2: Labor Party national conference, there's going to be a lot
- 48:24Speaker 2: of pro Palestinian protesters. They're already security concerns, so this
- 48:27Speaker 2: is going to be a big issue to come. Jason Morrison,
- 48:30Speaker 2: Christy McSweeney, thank you both very much for your time,
- 48:33Speaker 2: and that's it for me this week. I'll see you
- 48:35Speaker 2: Monday at eight o'clock and up now for Myriy life.
