- 0:11Speaker 1: Jesus is the good report.
- 0:15Speaker 2: The shocking and shameful murder of fifteen Jews in Bondai
- 0:18Speaker 2: has blown up into a political crisis for Anthony Albanesi.
- 0:23Speaker 2: The Prime Minister was today attacked from Sydney to Washington
- 0:26Speaker 2: for having done next to nothing while a lethal jew
- 0:30Speaker 2: hatred took off in this country. Now, even now, even today,
- 0:34Speaker 2: is still refusing to tackle take that jew hatred seriously.
- 0:39Speaker 2: His deflecting is covering up. But what has both stunned me,
- 0:43Speaker 2: absolutely stunned me, is what Anthony Albanese said last night
- 0:49Speaker 2: on the ABC, revealing a shocking ignorance of how dangerous
- 0:54Speaker 2: Australia had become for Jews under.
- 0:57Speaker 3: His watch.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Imagined an event like this taking place in Australia.
- 1:03Speaker 5: I certainly had not. This is a horrific act of
- 1:07Speaker 5: anti Semitism.
- 1:09Speaker 2: A prime minister had certainly not imagined a terrorism attack
- 1:13Speaker 2: like this, didn't I last night say, this is exactly
- 1:16Speaker 2: not what I wanted to hear. I mean, how can
- 1:18Speaker 2: that possibly be that he didn't know when we'd already
- 1:22Speaker 2: had five terrorist attacks by Muslim refugees on our shores,
- 1:26Speaker 2: like the deadly Lint Cafe siege and the murder of
- 1:29Speaker 2: police accountant Curtis Chang, And when we had Muslim hate
- 1:32Speaker 2: preachers preaching jihad, including the notorious Sydney preacher Wisam Haddad.
- 1:39Speaker 6: Hey, when the stones and the trees will speak and say,
- 1:42Speaker 6: oh Muslim, there is a Jew behind me, come and
- 1:44Speaker 6: kill him.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And in fact, the younger killer at Bondai on Sunday
- 1:51Speaker 2: was filmed in twenty nineteen handing out pamphlets for that
- 1:54Speaker 2: very same preachers Islamic Center.
- 1:59Speaker 3: This is the way as he gave.
- 2:01Speaker 7: He gave us all these hands.
- 2:04Speaker 8: And if you're if you're doing pretty in abigion, then
- 2:07Speaker 8: I was stealing from my law, was stealing his right.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Lovel laws that we ever him in whatever.
- 2:14Speaker 3: He says we do.
- 2:16Speaker 2: But the most extraordinary thing about Albanize he's saying he
- 2:18Speaker 2: had never imagined an attack like this on our Jews,
- 2:22Speaker 2: is that his top spy, marke Burgess Director General Evasia
- 2:27Speaker 2: warned him to expect exactly that warned him about this
- 2:32Speaker 2: growing Jew hatred and warned him very publicly in February.
- 2:37Speaker 9: The normalization of violent protests and intimidating behaviors lowered the
- 2:40Speaker 9: threshold for provocative and potentially violent acts. Narratives originally centered
- 2:46Speaker 9: on freeing Palestine expanded to incitements to kill the Jews.
- 2:51Speaker 9: These threats transitioned from harassment and intimidation to specific targeting
- 2:55Speaker 9: of Jewish communities, places of worship, and prominent figures. I'm
- 3:01Speaker 9: concerned these attacks have not yet plataued.
- 3:05Speaker 2: So how could Alban Easy now sit there in an
- 3:08Speaker 2: ABC studio and say he had never imagined that be
- 3:11Speaker 2: an attack when his own top spy had told him
- 3:15Speaker 2: of exactly that.
- 3:17Speaker 3: But to the ABC's credit, he did last.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Night, asking albeit mildly, about exactly that I mean.
- 3:25Speaker 3: But listen to his total.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Non answer, amongst others. As your boss, Mike Burgess earlier
- 3:31Speaker 4: this year talked about anti Semitism as the number one
- 3:35Speaker 4: priority in terms of threat to life, shouldn't you then
- 3:40Speaker 4: have contemplated, not in detail this event, but something like this.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Well, of course we remained ever vigilant.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Vigilant, vigilant, as if instead the Prime Minister was blind
- 3:56Speaker 2: and deaf, or perhaps even worse, he was indifferent as
- 4:02Speaker 2: the jew hatred exploded over this country, and as I
- 4:06Speaker 2: showed last night, he even poured petrol into the fire.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Him and Foreign Minister Pennywong and Home Affairs mins of
- 4:13Speaker 2: Tony Burke. They attacked Israel relentlessly. They refused to talk
- 4:17Speaker 2: about anti Semitters without immediately including Islamophobia, as if that
- 4:21Speaker 2: was just as bad. They refused to confront hate preachers
- 4:24Speaker 2: and then even gave tourism visas to three thousand Palestinians
- 4:28Speaker 2: from terrorists for an Hamas So no wonder Jews at
- 4:33Speaker 2: the Bondeau Memorial to the Dead last night, heckled Tony
- 4:37Speaker 2: Burke when he slipped in under cover of darkness.
- 4:45Speaker 10: Okay, what have you done?
- 4:47Speaker 2: You have this happiness in your pauls Well done.
- 4:57Speaker 11: SA.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And no wonder also that liberal promise. Sir John Howard
- 5:08Speaker 2: today condemned Anthony Albanezi's lack of leadership.
- 5:12Speaker 10: Most of the international activity of this government on matters
- 5:17Speaker 10: of particular concern of the Jewish community has been antagonistic.
- 5:21Speaker 10: I mean the premiture recognition of a Palestinian state with
- 5:28Speaker 10: no clearly defined borders, no internationally accepted government, which needlessly
- 5:35Speaker 10: provocative and was in my view done to plicate internal
- 5:41Speaker 10: domestic pressures. I mean, you've got a mean things, and
- 5:46Speaker 10: the Australian people are not stupid. They can work out
- 5:48Speaker 10: a phony. They can work out when they're being treated
- 5:52Speaker 10: to weasel words. And I'm afraid on this issue, that's
- 5:56Speaker 10: what the Prime Minister did. He failed the Jewish people immensely.
- 6:02Speaker 3: And this wilful, wilful blindness.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I mean now Anthony Albanesi and his ministers are still
- 6:08Speaker 2: desperately trying to deflect at tension away from Islam and
- 6:12Speaker 2: especially away from immigration, to get us talking instead about Hey,
- 6:17Speaker 2: new laws to restrict the freedom of us all like
- 6:21Speaker 2: tougher gun laws, which is a huge diversion. As both
- 6:25Speaker 2: John Howard and Pauline Hansen today agreed.
- 6:29Speaker 10: We've now been treated to the big attempt at a
- 6:32Speaker 10: diversion changes to gun laws.
- 6:35Speaker 1: He kind of use their words.
- 6:37Speaker 12: He's now deflecting to the gun's issue and so its
- 6:40Speaker 12: means it's not about the guns, it's a person behind
- 6:43Speaker 12: the guns.
- 6:46Speaker 2: In fact, Anthony Albanezi should be really worried now about
- 6:50Speaker 2: how his act is being booed on all sides. Is
- 6:53Speaker 2: significant that Jews that a mobbed and cheered Pauline Hanson
- 6:57Speaker 2: and a new recruit, Bundaby Joyce of the Bonda Memorial,
- 7:01Speaker 2: and when Howard arrived with his flowers. He was treated
- 7:04Speaker 2: as a hero the Prime Minister that we do need
- 7:08Speaker 2: right now.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Great at Prime Minister Ausla.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Bring back.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Then there was the Prime Minister's other big diversion today,
- 7:22Speaker 2: hiding behind the hero of Bondai, Ahmed al Alkhmed, who
- 7:27Speaker 2: was shot after tackling one of the gunmen on Sunday.
- 7:30Speaker 2: A hero is also useful for being Muslim himself. Alban
- 7:35Speaker 2: is here today posted photos and videos of himself visiting
- 7:39Speaker 2: Al Ahmed in hospital.
- 7:41Speaker 5: Well, it was a great honor to meet Ahmad l Armed.
- 7:45Speaker 7: He is a true Australian hero.
- 7:49Speaker 5: He shines out as an example of the strength of humanity.
- 7:55Speaker 5: We are a brive country, armed el armored represent it's
- 8:00Speaker 5: the best of our country.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Manathin alber Easy. It's so desperate not to talk about
- 8:07Speaker 2: those two eyes, Islam and immigration that the Australian newspaper
- 8:12Speaker 2: Today even reported that he pushed a document on state
- 8:15Speaker 2: leaders yesterday's National Cabinet. They talked a lot about gun laws,
- 8:19Speaker 2: but mentioned anti Semitism in just one paragraph until he
- 8:23Speaker 2: was pushed to change it. Alberan Eazy Today angrily denied it.
- 8:28Speaker 7: That's not true. The report is not accurate.
- 8:31Speaker 13: The meeting yesterday had front and center a commitment Prime
- 8:39Speaker 13: Minister today Convenia meeting a national cub following the evil
- 8:41Speaker 13: anti Semitic terrorist attack directed at members of the Jewish
- 8:44Speaker 13: community celebrating Harneker at Sydney's Botno Beach.
- 8:48Speaker 7: Is that document that was present?
- 8:50Speaker 1: State Princes, they have to push you.
- 8:51Speaker 7: On wels legends.
- 8:52Speaker 5: That is not accurate.
- 8:54Speaker 7: It's just not right.
- 8:56Speaker 2: And both alber Easy and Home Affairs Minister the Burke
- 8:59Speaker 2: today they also try to keep the debate away from immigration,
- 9:02Speaker 2: both denying it was an issue, even though the older gunman,
- 9:05Speaker 2: the father had come from Pakistan as a student.
- 9:09Speaker 4: When the inevitable calls come arise from some parts of
- 9:13Speaker 4: our society linking the Bondai massacre to Muslim immigration to Australia,
- 9:18Speaker 4: how will you respond.
- 9:20Speaker 5: That what we've seen in the last twenty four hours
- 9:26Speaker 5: ago I was the worst of humanity in a terrorist act,
- 9:33Speaker 5: but we also saw an example of the best of
- 9:37Speaker 5: humanity in armored el Hmed.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Do you think immigration is a key issue here?
- 9:43Speaker 14: Yeah, there would be nothing in the immigration decisions that
- 9:48Speaker 14: were made way back then by the Howard government. I
- 9:50Speaker 14: suspect that would have pointed to any level of risk
- 9:54Speaker 14: about that individual way back then. So I don't think
- 9:58Speaker 14: we can view this as and immigration issue with madness.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Of course, the elder killer when he came here in
- 10:06Speaker 2: nineteen ninety eight wouldn't have said, oh, by the way,
- 10:09Speaker 2: you know, I hate Jews and if I'm pushed one day,
- 10:12Speaker 2: I'll kill them.
- 10:13Speaker 3: I mean, no.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Immigrant from a Muslim country would do that, and indeed,
- 10:16Speaker 2: I'm sure most never would hurt a Jew or intend
- 10:20Speaker 2: ever to do that. But there is a reason why
- 10:23Speaker 2: of the thirty one terrorist organizations formerly listened by AUSTRO,
- 10:27Speaker 2: the vast majority twenty six are Islamic. Now that has
- 10:34Speaker 2: got to raise a question about the teachings of Islam
- 10:37Speaker 2: and people we bring in from Islamic countries. And Albani
- 10:41Speaker 2: is here today was asked something about this by our
- 10:44Speaker 2: Julia Bradley and about radical preachers generally, and he seemed
- 10:47Speaker 2: extremely uncomfortable answering is.
- 10:51Speaker 12: Rifal Islam a problem and how could hate preaching still
- 10:55Speaker 12: be allowed?
- 10:56Speaker 5: Well, what we know already is as part of the
- 11:01Speaker 5: investigation is it goes to motive, and what is being investigated,
- 11:07Speaker 5: as the Commissioner has said, is that it would appear
- 11:11Speaker 5: that there is evidence that this was inspired by a
- 11:15Speaker 5: terrorist organization by ISIS.
- 11:18Speaker 7: Now some of the evidence.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Which has been procured, including the presence of Islamic state
- 11:26Speaker 5: flags in the vehicle that has been seized, a part
- 11:30Speaker 5: of that radical perversion of Islam is absolutely a problem.
- 11:40Speaker 5: It is something that has been identified globally as a
- 11:44Speaker 5: problem as well. Isis is created by an evil ideology
- 11:53Speaker 5: that has been called out not just by the Australian
- 11:57Speaker 5: government but globally as well.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Hate preaching.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Yeah, we have past legislation to outlaw hate speech, the
- 12:16Speaker 5: first government to do so, to put in place those
- 12:19Speaker 5: laws as part of our response to anty Semitism.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Really, is it just a perversion of Islam? Is the
- 12:28Speaker 2: scholar now he knows these things? Is it really just
- 12:31Speaker 2: the Islamic State? I think there's a lot of islam
- 12:34Speaker 2: mist organizations out there, And how many preachers really have
- 12:38Speaker 2: been prosecuted under these hate speech laws which I suspect
- 12:42Speaker 2: one day might be turned against people who criticize Islam.
- 12:47Speaker 2: And there's one more thing to say about this, this fast,
- 12:50Speaker 2: this tragic farce today and it's related as in potentially
- 12:55Speaker 2: minimizing what we're really up against. We've been told very
- 12:58Speaker 2: quickly that the two guns, father and son, they were
- 13:01Speaker 2: lone wolves, no evidence that anyone else was involved, and
- 13:04Speaker 2: as Sagan journalists throw uncover evidence suggesting that if no
- 13:07Speaker 2: one else was directly involved, others may have had an
- 13:11Speaker 2: ugly influence. Now I already showed you the video uncovered
- 13:15Speaker 2: by the Australian newspaper the younger killer five years ago
- 13:18Speaker 2: or six years ago handing out pamphlets for a Sydney
- 13:21Speaker 2: hate preacher's center, and that killer's car at Bondo was
- 13:25Speaker 2: left draped with Islamic state flags. The sea and his
- 13:28Speaker 2: father killed that couple who bravely tried to stop them,
- 13:32Speaker 2: even wrestling away the older man's gun before that older
- 13:37Speaker 2: killer got another gun and killed them both. And what's more,
- 13:41Speaker 2: the Daily Telegraph reports that the two killers were in
- 13:44Speaker 2: the Philippines for a month just weeks ago, with a
- 13:48Speaker 2: meeting that country's Islamist radicals.
- 13:51Speaker 3: We don't know.
- 13:51Speaker 2: The police Commission today said he didn't know, but his investigating,
- 13:55Speaker 2: although there was something else he didn't seem able to
- 13:57Speaker 2: work out that to me seemed as obvious as the
- 14:00Speaker 2: nose on his face.
- 14:02Speaker 12: I also confirmed that the vehicle which is registered to
- 14:05Speaker 12: the younger male contained IEDs, but I also confirmed that
- 14:10Speaker 12: it contained two homemade isis flags. We continue to work
- 14:15Speaker 12: through the motive of this tragedy.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Hmm, A question for Sherlock Holmes. The Muslim killers have
- 14:23Speaker 2: an Islamic state flag. They murder Jews at a Jewish celebration.
- 14:29Speaker 2: They act like this is a suicide mission that they
- 14:32Speaker 2: don't try to flee, and the police can't work out
- 14:35Speaker 2: a motive here, nor can Albanezi apparently, but there he
- 14:39Speaker 2: is seemingly blind to Islam and immigration, death and certainly done.
- 14:46Speaker 2: How can this man lead us at a time like this?
- 14:54Speaker 3: Now?
- 14:54Speaker 2: The older gunman was shot dead on Sunday in this
- 14:56Speaker 2: afternoon news for the younger one also shot is now
- 14:59Speaker 2: out of his coma. But back to Anthony Aberaneze and
- 15:01Speaker 2: Tony Book not wanting to talk about immigration in Islam
- 15:04Speaker 2: nor it seems as the ABC It's a Melbourne Radio
- 15:08Speaker 2: morning show this morning had on this day, of all days,
- 15:11Speaker 2: a guest presenter who was once spokesman for the Islamic
- 15:15Speaker 2: Society of Victoria, Guadid Ali, and he too steered listeners
- 15:20Speaker 2: into talking about anything else except, of course, immigration and Islam.
- 15:26Speaker 15: Where's the emphasis for you guns? The government responds to antisemitism,
- 15:31Speaker 15: maybe something else. Do we need to tighten hate speech
- 15:34Speaker 15: laws or gun laws or both? Two main issues to
- 15:37Speaker 15: start emerging gun control in Australia and the social phenomenon,
- 15:42Speaker 15: and then the government's response to that phenomenon of antisemitism.
- 15:46Speaker 15: This of course in the wake of the Bondaie terrorist attack, but.
- 15:50Speaker 2: On the streets even the most unlikely people were thinking,
- 15:53Speaker 2: our doors need more careful guarding, so more people coming
- 15:57Speaker 2: into this country where as it goes.
- 16:00Speaker 10: These are the government's poll too, the governments who know
- 16:03Speaker 10: exactly what's going on, but people doesn't expect the law here.
- 16:07Speaker 16: It's an eye opener really, Like it's really scary. Australia
- 16:11Speaker 16: used to be a safe country, like and now it
- 16:13Speaker 16: just feels really uneasy, like you've just got to stay indoors,
- 16:16Speaker 16: and you know, if you're going to be like dad,
- 16:17Speaker 16: take it back to your own country, like you know,
- 16:19Speaker 16: like we all came to Australian from a different country
- 16:21Speaker 16: as well, we all come to Australia for a better life.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Joining me is our regular Tuesday commentator Matt Canavan, National
- 16:28Speaker 2: Senator and former Resources Minister Matt Canavan, thanks for coming
- 16:32Speaker 2: on again. Look, the Prime Minister is desperately trying to
- 16:36Speaker 2: avoid talking about Islam and our immigration laws.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Should he in fact go.
- 16:41Speaker 8: There, Look, I think he's being dragged, kicking and screaming
- 16:47Speaker 8: to it to Andrew and it's just a bit disappointing.
- 16:51Speaker 8: I think for many Australians that the Prime Minister seems
- 16:55Speaker 8: two weak, two cowardly here to tackle and confront these
- 16:59Speaker 8: very difficult issues, out challenging issues for the Australian Labor Party. Look,
- 17:03Speaker 8: this has been the worst massacre in our country since
- 17:06Speaker 8: Port Arthur, but it is perhaps not too early to
- 17:09Speaker 8: compare the leadership we saw from John Howard in light
- 17:13Speaker 8: of that event relative to what we've seen in the
- 17:15Speaker 8: past couple of days.
- 17:17Speaker 1: John Howard.
- 17:19Speaker 8: Took on an issue that was tough for his own
- 17:22Speaker 8: side of politics, that saw him be criticized by many
- 17:25Speaker 8: people who would otherwise supported the Liberal and National Parties
- 17:29Speaker 8: by introducing gun reform. Measure is still controversial today, but
- 17:32Speaker 8: he had the courage to take on an issue that
- 17:35Speaker 8: he thought was right. The Prime Minister here over the
- 17:38Speaker 8: past few days is clearly uncomfortable tackling an issue that
- 17:43Speaker 8: would be uncomfortable for the Labor Party when we can
- 17:45Speaker 8: all see, when every Tom, Dick and Harry that I've
- 17:47Speaker 8: been talking to the last few days can see that
- 17:52Speaker 8: this issue, that what's happened here, the terrible, horrific scenes
- 17:56Speaker 8: we saw on one of the most special places in
- 17:59Speaker 8: our country in Bondi Beach, the issue is the hateful ideas,
- 18:03Speaker 8: not the firearms that these two evil monsters had access to.
- 18:09Speaker 8: And if we don't tackle these hateful ideas, this hateful
- 18:13Speaker 8: ideology of extreme Islamic terrorism, we're not going to solve
- 18:20Speaker 8: the problem here. Look, I want our Prime Minister to succeed.
- 18:23Speaker 8: I wanted a time like now for him to bring
- 18:25Speaker 8: the nation together. But to do that he has to
- 18:28Speaker 8: listen to the Australian people that I'm hearing from that
- 18:32Speaker 8: want leadership and courage from our Prime minister to tackle
- 18:37Speaker 8: the real issue before our eyes.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I showed earlier Tony Burke being booed, John Howard being
- 18:45Speaker 2: mobbed at the memorial to the Jews who have murdered
- 18:48Speaker 2: at Bondai. Also One Nation leader paul In Hanson and
- 18:51Speaker 2: the latest recruit Bunaby Joyce given a warm welcome there.
- 18:55Speaker 2: What signals is this sending to both the Labor and
- 18:58Speaker 2: the Coalition.
- 19:01Speaker 8: Look, Andrew, I'm not that interested in light of these
- 19:05Speaker 8: horrific incidents to measure this as some type of political contest.
- 19:15Speaker 8: I just want to see the issues be tackled with,
- 19:18Speaker 8: and as I say, I generally want the Prime Minister
- 19:20Speaker 8: to show that leadership because he's the only one with
- 19:23Speaker 8: that stature policy. I mean, yeah, I totally and look,
- 19:29Speaker 8: I've said what I'm saying to you right now, I've
- 19:31Speaker 8: been saying for the last two days, as have others
- 19:34Speaker 8: I know from the Liberal National parties. But you know,
- 19:37Speaker 8: we can only do so much. It has to be
- 19:38Speaker 8: led by the Prime Minister. So I want that to happen.
- 19:41Speaker 8: I want our country that I want us to go
- 19:44Speaker 8: back to the carefree nation we had. I fear that
- 19:47Speaker 8: maybe we'll never go back to that on not the
- 19:48Speaker 8: short term, but the only way back, the only way
- 19:51Speaker 8: partly back to that is for courage and leadership from
- 19:54Speaker 8: the top from our Prime minister. So I want that
- 19:57Speaker 8: to succeed. I'm not going to play who's winning this
- 20:00Speaker 8: political debate. I'm just not interested in that right now.
- 20:04Speaker 2: No, it was more interested in what it was telling
- 20:07Speaker 2: both parties to do just quickly. You had a phrase
- 20:11Speaker 2: there that I've heard so often, Matt, about what's happened
- 20:15Speaker 2: to our country? You want your country back? You said,
- 20:18Speaker 2: I've heard that from many, I want my country back.
- 20:20Speaker 2: What do you think has happened to it?
- 20:24Speaker 8: Look, I think what's happened is we've lost control of
- 20:27Speaker 8: We've lost confidence.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I'll say that, I'll rephrase it.
- 20:29Speaker 8: I believe we've lost confidence in what it means to
- 20:32Speaker 8: be Australian, what it means to welcome people into our country,
- 20:37Speaker 8: but only on the terms that to see them integrate
- 20:42Speaker 8: and assimilate into our culture, into.
- 20:45Speaker 1: The way we live our life.
- 20:47Speaker 8: Because we've lacked that confidence, we haven't set clear directions
- 20:50Speaker 8: to people to the record numbers of people we're bringing
- 20:53Speaker 8: into this country. That's put enormous strain on the social
- 20:57Speaker 8: bonds between us all. It's allowed for ideologies to spread unchecked,
- 21:02Speaker 8: and we need not only to regard that confidence to
- 21:06Speaker 8: say this is what it means to be Austrade, this
- 21:07Speaker 8: is what you have to do to be part of
- 21:10Speaker 8: this country. We also need to now root out and
- 21:13Speaker 8: enforce a sense of order and respect.
- 21:17Speaker 1: And if you are spreading these kinds of ideas.
- 21:18Speaker 8: If you're involved in organizations that supports terrorism like Hizzibud
- 21:23Speaker 8: to hear, those sort of organizations should be blacklisted and
- 21:26Speaker 8: there needs to be a massive crackdown on people spreading
- 21:30Speaker 8: this kind of hate. As I say, I want our
- 21:33Speaker 8: country back, and the only way to get that country
- 21:34Speaker 8: back is to enforce an orderly society that has respect
- 21:37Speaker 8: for each other, that does not allow individual groups like
- 21:42Speaker 8: the Jewish Australians we've seen on the weekend be targeted.
- 21:45Speaker 8: It's just not only is this the worst Mascus since
- 21:49Speaker 8: Port Arthur, it's really the first time we've ever seen
- 21:51Speaker 8: a religious a religious observance be subject to this kind
- 21:55Speaker 8: of violence and cold blood and murder we've seen on.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Social friends in this country.
- 22:03Speaker 2: We'll rediscover pride in our past and our symbols, our traditions.
- 22:08Speaker 3: I think that really needs to happen.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Macanavan, thank you so much for your time after the
- 22:13Speaker 2: break attacks on Honuker celebrations in California and Holland as well.
- 22:18Speaker 2: But can Donald Trump teach out leaders a lesson on
- 22:21Speaker 2: how to fight this modern Jew hatred. It's not just here,
- 22:28Speaker 2: Jews around the world seem to be singled out at
- 22:31Speaker 2: Hanukkah in Amsterdam. Also on Sunday, anti Israel extremists try
- 22:36Speaker 2: to storm a Hanukah concert of the famous Consekabao. Twenty
- 22:40Speaker 2: two people arrested in California on Saturday, people in a
- 22:44Speaker 2: car shot up the home of Jews who decorated it
- 22:47Speaker 2: for Hannikh as well. Join me from the US for
- 23:03Speaker 2: the last time this year is Sean Spicer, Donald Trump's
- 23:06Speaker 2: first White House Chief of Staff. Sean Spicer, good to
- 23:10Speaker 2: see you again. Donald Trump got elected, among other things,
- 23:14Speaker 2: on a promise to fight back against anti Israel and
- 23:17Speaker 2: anti Jewish extremists who are making life hell for Jewish
- 23:20Speaker 2: students at university is over your way?
- 23:24Speaker 3: Now?
- 23:24Speaker 2: Can you tell me what did he do to fight
- 23:27Speaker 2: this jew hatred that our own prime minister could learn from,
- 23:32Speaker 2: because I don't think is done much at all, And boy,
- 23:36Speaker 2: there's anger here about that.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 17: First, Andrew, my condolence is to so many of the
- 23:42Speaker 17: families there in Australia that are dealing with this during
- 23:44Speaker 17: this difficult time. It's a sad state of the world
- 23:48Speaker 17: when people can't go out and practice their faith. Obviously,
- 23:51Speaker 17: the first day of Hanukah there and it looked like
- 23:54Speaker 17: a beautiful opportunity for people to celebrate their faith down
- 23:57Speaker 17: at one of those iconic beaches that you all have.
- 24:00Speaker 17: So my condolence is to you. I've had this discussion
- 24:03Speaker 17: with a lot of folks in the past twenty four hours.
- 24:05Speaker 17: And you can't legislate away hate. You can't just pass
- 24:09Speaker 17: a law and say hate.
- 24:10Speaker 1: You can't hate.
- 24:11Speaker 17: It's against the law. It comes from real leadership and
- 24:15Speaker 17: calling it out when you see it. And that's why, frankly,
- 24:18Speaker 17: I was disappointed. I'm glad you kind of noted it,
- 24:20Speaker 17: but your Prime Minister's comments, I don't think probably give
- 24:24Speaker 17: a ton of solace to folks. He has allowed this
- 24:26Speaker 17: to fester, as have a lot of people here on
- 24:29Speaker 17: the left, Bernie Sanders, aoc elan Omar, so many the
- 24:32Speaker 17: people that have made a name for themselves, and I, frankly,
- 24:36Speaker 17: I've told people I'm Catholic, but two streets away from
- 24:39Speaker 17: me is a Jewish temple and it's remarkable to me.
- 24:42Speaker 17: It's sad to me that every time I go by
- 24:45Speaker 17: and there's a service there, there's at least one, if
- 24:47Speaker 17: not two sheriff officers in their vehicles parked outside the
- 24:50Speaker 17: front the idea that in America that we have to
- 24:54Speaker 17: feel like it's a public safety concern to practice your faith.
- 24:58Speaker 17: This is what we were so proud of as a
- 25:00Speaker 17: that you could come here and not have to worry
- 25:04Speaker 17: about what faith you wanted to practice. The freedom of expression,
- 25:06Speaker 17: the freedom of assembly are enshrined in our constitution. And
- 25:11Speaker 17: so getting back to your question, Andrew, I think it's leadership.
- 25:14Speaker 17: What I see so often from the left is these
- 25:16Speaker 17: guys just ignore it. They realized that a critical part
- 25:20Speaker 17: of their base is anti Semitic commas loving and until
- 25:25Speaker 17: leaders are willing to stand up and say something and
- 25:27Speaker 17: do something, then all of the posturing won't matter. And
- 25:31Speaker 17: I was a little taken back by the first reaction
- 25:33Speaker 17: that I at least heard from your Prime Minister was
- 25:36Speaker 17: for more gun control.
- 25:39Speaker 2: I couldn't agree with you more. I think that's a deflection, Shawn.
- 25:44Speaker 2: It really is from some of the real issues of
- 25:47Speaker 2: the bothering people, which are which include the kind of
- 25:50Speaker 2: people we import and the lack of pushback to any extremism,
- 25:55Speaker 2: people just going in their shells or whatever. And I
- 25:58Speaker 2: was impressed by Donald Trump, for instance, threatening the universities
- 26:01Speaker 2: that didn't take anti Semitism seriously, with the withdrawal of
- 26:06Speaker 2: their funding. They can do what they like, but not
- 26:08Speaker 2: in our dime if they don't speak up. I think
- 26:11Speaker 2: this is something that we need to learn from.
- 26:13Speaker 1: But not just learn from.
- 26:14Speaker 17: But what I don't understand is this, if you allow somebody,
- 26:18Speaker 17: as the case was with Charlie Kirk and Donald Trump,
- 26:21Speaker 17: if you vilify an individual or a movement and say
- 26:24Speaker 17: that person is Hitler or Nazi or must be eradicated
- 26:28Speaker 17: or a threat to democracy, what do you think is
- 26:31Speaker 17: going to happen? If you tell people that Israel must
- 26:35Speaker 17: is a scourge that must be removed from the earth,
- 26:38Speaker 17: that Jews are bad, what do you think is going
- 26:40Speaker 17: to happen? And these folks on the left that are
- 26:43Speaker 17: so quick to preach about you know what aboutism and
- 26:47Speaker 17: Donald Trump this, and that they are the ones causing this,
- 26:51Speaker 17: and know what on the left wants to stand up
- 26:53Speaker 17: when when we had riots in the wake of the
- 26:55Speaker 17: death of George Floyd and people were looting and vandalizing
- 26:59Speaker 17: and destroying proper pretty and hurting individuals, it was justified
- 27:02Speaker 17: in the name of some kind of greater good. The
- 27:04Speaker 17: problem is that these guys are afraid to offend anyone
- 27:07Speaker 17: that's part of the fabric of this new coalition they
- 27:10Speaker 17: call their base. And that's the biggest problem right here.
- 27:13Speaker 17: And I just the idea that we're watching this here
- 27:15Speaker 17: in Providence, Rhode Island, where I I mean, I'm just
- 27:18Speaker 17: south of Brown University right now, and the idea that
- 27:21Speaker 17: this school was so open to anti Semitism and then
- 27:26Speaker 17: wonders why something happens. I don't have any idea what
- 27:29Speaker 17: the connection to the shooter is at this point. But
- 27:32Speaker 17: when you inspire people to tell people that conservatives are bad,
- 27:36Speaker 17: that supporters of the MAGA movement are bad, when you
- 27:38Speaker 17: say that anti Semitism can run rampant, what do you
- 27:41Speaker 17: think is going to happen on campus? And this is
- 27:44Speaker 17: something that they all sit around clutching their pearls, going,
- 27:47Speaker 17: how did it happen here? How did it happen here?
- 27:49Speaker 1: Is because you inspired it.
- 27:53Speaker 2: There needs to be a similar deep, deep reckoning here
- 27:56Speaker 2: as Sean. Everything you say applies to what we've been
- 28:01Speaker 2: facing right here. Sean, can I finish? This is our
- 28:05Speaker 2: last talk before I go on holidays. I'm very grateful
- 28:10Speaker 2: to you for all your effort on the show this year.
- 28:14Speaker 2: You've had a tremendous value. Now I keep reading stories
- 28:18Speaker 2: in the media about Donald Trump's terrible polls, but then
- 28:22Speaker 2: I see that his numbers are in fact better than
- 28:24Speaker 2: many of those before him, many presidents before him at
- 28:27Speaker 2: this time of their cycle. Better than Bush Junior, better
- 28:31Speaker 2: than Barack Obama. Can you wrap up by telling us
- 28:35Speaker 2: how Trump's first year back has gone.
- 28:39Speaker 17: Well, Look, it's no secret. First of all, thank you
- 28:42Speaker 17: for having me. I appreciate your kind words. It's been
- 28:44Speaker 17: an honor to be part of your show, and I love.
- 28:46Speaker 17: As I've said to you off air many times, it's
- 28:48Speaker 17: always amazing how many people in America love watching Andrew
- 28:52Speaker 17: boll And Sky News Australia. It's amazing the reach that
- 28:55Speaker 17: you guys have, So thank you for allowing you to be
- 28:57Speaker 17: part of it. But look, I think that when you
- 29:00Speaker 17: go out as a politician and promise things to whatever constituency,
- 29:04Speaker 17: whether it's the right, the left, the American people writ large,
- 29:07Speaker 17: and you deliver on them, that's great. And I look
- 29:09Speaker 17: back at what the President's done, the big beautiful bill.
- 29:11Speaker 1: The border is secure.
- 29:13Speaker 17: He has instituted a level playing field for our farmers, rachers,
- 29:17Speaker 17: manufacturers through tariffs. This is exactly what he said he
- 29:20Speaker 17: was going to do. You may not like it, some
- 29:22Speaker 17: people are opposed to him, but the bottom line is
- 29:24Speaker 17: I love the fact that he went out campaigned on
- 29:27Speaker 17: a set of principles and promises to the American people
- 29:29Speaker 17: and then delivered on him. And the only thing that
- 29:31Speaker 17: he probably wishes or regrets is that he's done so
- 29:34Speaker 17: much so soon. So he's got to figure out some
- 29:37Speaker 17: new things. But I'm very proud of what he's done already.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Shown Spicer.
- 29:43Speaker 2: May I wish you a great Christmas. Thank you so much,
- 29:46Speaker 2: and I hope to see you next year.
- 29:50Speaker 17: Merry Christmas to you and to all of your viewers,
- 29:52Speaker 17: and I look forward to seeing you back here in
- 29:53Speaker 17: twenty twenty six.
- 29:55Speaker 2: After the break, another labor leader booed and hiteled at
- 29:58Speaker 2: a Jewish function. This anger just takes over. But jud
- 30:04Speaker 2: should also ask their Jewish leaders why they ever trusted
- 30:06Speaker 2: the left to protect them. My Jewish friends should reflect
- 30:14Speaker 2: on something many are angry at politicians on the left
- 30:18Speaker 2: if left them feeling abandoned and unprotected. I showed you
- 30:22Speaker 2: Jews at Bondai doing home affairs, mister Tony Burke telling
- 30:25Speaker 2: John Howard. They wished he was promister again, not Alban
- 30:28Speaker 2: easy Well. In Victoria labour Premier Cina Allen. She was
- 30:32Speaker 2: last night also booed at a Hannika celebration at Corford Schule,
- 30:36Speaker 2: and today she fled more Jews who confronted her.
- 30:40Speaker 11: I him a question, why I'll take the camera. Why
- 30:50Speaker 11: the pri Palacinium mob a protected class they can threaten
- 30:53Speaker 11: and curse the police es thought of security to promise
- 30:56Speaker 11: city to secured. He I was there and I saw them,
- 30:59Speaker 11: and I saw marchin like your eyes. And the premier
- 31:02Speaker 11: is running on with a checkout. This is Freedo s
- 31:05Speaker 11: feet by speaking, and.
- 31:07Speaker 12: She's just globalizing interfara.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Norm touch for anyone. I get this anger, but I
- 31:13Speaker 2: do remember giving many speeches at Jewish fundraisers ten twenty
- 31:18Speaker 2: years ago, maybe even more, warning Jews that their next
- 31:21Speaker 2: great threat would not come from the right, but the left,
- 31:25Speaker 2: from the left that many leaders of the big Jewish
- 31:27Speaker 2: groups considered allies. Now, several of those groups didn't want
- 31:32Speaker 2: to hear my warnings, and some that did got heavy
- 31:34Speaker 2: not to have me anymore. But I asked these organizations, now,
- 31:39Speaker 2: look how the left has betrayed you look how even
- 31:42Speaker 2: the influential Mark Leebler, so close for so long to Labor,
- 31:46Speaker 2: so committed to Albanez's campaign for the Voice, now has
- 31:49Speaker 2: the cut ties to arts groups which foster a hatred
- 31:52Speaker 2: of Israel. And he writes of his bitterness at Labour's
- 31:55Speaker 2: betrayal and Victoria Tiplitsky, who's the one of the victims
- 32:01Speaker 2: of Bondai. Today it told ABC reporters to their face
- 32:05Speaker 2: that the left wing ABC two has been against Jews.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Will you listen to us, alban Easy Wong, will you
- 32:15Speaker 2: listen to us?
- 32:16Speaker 7: And ABC I've got.
- 32:18Speaker 2: To say, will.
- 32:20Speaker 18: You cut out the biased reporting.
- 32:24Speaker 19: Mainstream media?
- 32:26Speaker 8: We feel with yeah?
- 32:27Speaker 19: Will you?
- 32:27Speaker 11: Will you cut it out?
- 32:28Speaker 2: Will you actually let us have a voice? Now, if
- 32:33Speaker 2: I a gentile saw this catastrophic jew hatred coming and
- 32:37Speaker 2: from where, why didn't many Jewish leaders? Why didn't they
- 32:41Speaker 2: want to hear it? Either joined me Ama Schlift, research
- 32:45Speaker 2: fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs, and Scarne New's
- 32:48Speaker 2: regular Louise Roberts Mia, is this massacre do you think
- 32:53Speaker 2: going to shock many in the left, the Jews and
- 32:55Speaker 2: non Jews alike, into reflecting on what the left has become.
- 33:02Speaker 20: Well, look it certainly I think will shock everyone across
- 33:05Speaker 20: the whole political spectrum, and I've seen that people are
- 33:07Speaker 20: becoming out just an utter shock. Will it urge them
- 33:10Speaker 20: to start reflecting? I'm not sure. I think that we'll
- 33:13Speaker 20: have to wait to see. I mean, we've seen for
- 33:15Speaker 20: so long the left has been out there preaching about
- 33:18Speaker 20: the extremism of the right and how anyone on the
- 33:21Speaker 20: right side of politics poses a threat because they might
- 33:23Speaker 20: breathe this form of extremism. But I think it's about
- 33:26Speaker 20: time the left has a long, hard look in the
- 33:28Speaker 20: mirror and just has a look at how extreme the
- 33:31Speaker 20: left has become. Look at the Labor Party, for example.
- 33:35Speaker 20: It wasn't too long ago that we had leaders such
- 33:37Speaker 20: as Bob Hawk who had such courage and conviction and
- 33:40Speaker 20: complete respect for the Jewish community, who worked in tandem
- 33:44Speaker 20: with them many many times. And now have a look
- 33:46Speaker 20: at who is leading the Labor Party today and the
- 33:48Speaker 20: complete contempt they have shown Jewish Australians over the last
- 33:52Speaker 20: couple of years. You only have to look at the
- 33:54Speaker 20: catalog of decisions that they have made, the way they
- 33:57Speaker 20: have ignored Jewish voices and Jewish warnings to back up
- 34:01Speaker 20: that claim that they have just they've simply ignored them.
- 34:04Speaker 20: Look at the scandal with the Isis brides rushing through
- 34:07Speaker 20: citizenship ceremonies, the way they did not condemn many the
- 34:11Speaker 20: protests or the fire bombing of synagogues that happened across
- 34:15Speaker 20: the country. There has been a complete lack of leadership
- 34:18Speaker 20: over and over again on the left. And I think
- 34:21Speaker 20: it's quite right people are angry.
- 34:26Speaker 2: You know, in a way it seems we should be
- 34:29Speaker 2: focusing entirely on the terrible, terrible tragedy, the deaths the
- 34:33Speaker 2: morning the tears should be for the dead and the
- 34:36Speaker 2: wounded and those that have had this catastrophic loss. And
- 34:41Speaker 2: yet many Jews are at the same time very angry
- 34:45Speaker 2: because there has been such a betrayal of them in
- 34:49Speaker 2: fact of Australia really leading up to all this. Do
- 34:55Speaker 2: you understand this anger?
- 34:56Speaker 19: I absolutely understand this anger, and I think it's an
- 34:59Speaker 19: anger ed by the majority of Australians who are just
- 35:02Speaker 19: appalled at the way the Albanesi government has turned their
- 35:05Speaker 19: back on our Jewish population in this country. It's you know,
- 35:10Speaker 19: they've panned to the wrong causes. They've panned the pro
- 35:13Speaker 19: Palestinian movement. They've pandered to minute groups who have you know,
- 35:17Speaker 19: shown such hatred to such a fundamental and collaborative part
- 35:22Speaker 19: of society. So the anger I think will only grow
- 35:25Speaker 19: as well. I mean, for example, I mean Tony Burke
- 35:28Speaker 19: going to Bondi and being heckled. It probably went there
- 35:32Speaker 19: expecting deference and some kind of appreciation for turning up,
- 35:36Speaker 19: but you know he got honesty and good I mean,
- 35:39Speaker 19: this is how people are feeling sort of respectable. People
- 35:42Speaker 19: were so enraged to see him there and so disgusted
- 35:44Speaker 19: they were booing him at a memorial, So that gives
- 35:47Speaker 19: you an indication of how angry people are. I think that.
- 35:51Speaker 19: You know, we've got a situation where mister Albanesi and
- 35:53Speaker 19: miss Wong and mister Burke have all made Australia a
- 35:57Speaker 19: very unsafe place for Jewish people. For Tony Burke, his
- 36:01Speaker 19: job as Home Affairs is literally to keep the community safe,
- 36:04Speaker 19: and they've all failed.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Yes, notably the Penny Wong is I don't think I've
- 36:10Speaker 2: seen her in public since the massacre. Now, some Jews
- 36:15Speaker 2: who were at the Bondeu massacre at the time, they
- 36:18Speaker 2: complained that just two police were at the Bondeu event
- 36:22Speaker 2: to protect them and that no police who laid to
- 36:24Speaker 2: rushed there had more than pistols to confront terrorists who
- 36:29Speaker 2: were armed with powerful long arms. And they also say
- 36:32Speaker 2: that some who were there initially did not even fire back.
- 36:35Speaker 2: The Police commissioner said the police were actually outgunned, which
- 36:39Speaker 2: is extraordinary and the Premier today was angry with journalists
- 36:42Speaker 2: simply asking about it.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Here they both are The New.
- 36:45Speaker 18: South Wales Police acted with bravery and integrity. They didn't
- 36:50Speaker 18: take a backwards step. They engaged the gunmen on the
- 36:53Speaker 18: footbridge with handguns. The offenders had long range rifles and
- 37:00Speaker 18: New South Wales police officers were responsible for killing one
- 37:03Speaker 18: of them and shooting the other one and as a result,
- 37:07Speaker 18: saving many many people's lives. Now there are two officers
- 37:11Speaker 18: in critical care in New South Wales hospitals at the moment.
- 37:14Speaker 18: They weren't shot in the back as they were running away,
- 37:16Speaker 18: they were shot in the front. I'm sorry to be
- 37:18Speaker 18: graphic about it, but if there's any suggestion that New
- 37:22Speaker 18: South Wales Police didn't live up to their responsibilities to
- 37:26Speaker 18: the people of this state, it should be rejected.
- 37:29Speaker 2: In the end, footage i've seen shows very courageous detective
- 37:33Speaker 2: rushing closer to the government at the obvious risk of
- 37:36Speaker 2: his own life and taking out at least one of
- 37:38Speaker 2: them with an incredible forty meters shot with just this handgun.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Incredible braver in skill. But me, is it fair enough
- 37:46Speaker 2: to ask about these allegations and ask why police at
- 37:50Speaker 2: such a gathering didn't have more than two officers there
- 37:54Speaker 2: and with only pistols.
- 37:59Speaker 20: Yeah, Look, Andrew, I have the utmost respect for police.
- 38:02Speaker 20: They are the first ones to put their own lives
- 38:03Speaker 20: in danger in order to keep the rest of us safe.
- 38:06Speaker 20: They quite literally put themselves in the firing line. So
- 38:09Speaker 20: I'm hesitant to start, you know, throwing accusations out there
- 38:12Speaker 20: by the police. Even in recent days, there was an
- 38:14Speaker 20: image floating around of a police woman holding up her hands,
- 38:17Speaker 20: and there was a narrative attached to that image that
- 38:19Speaker 20: she was frozen in fear, and since then that's been
- 38:21Speaker 20: debunked and it was actually an image of her ushering
- 38:24Speaker 20: the public away from the crime scene after the offenders
- 38:27Speaker 20: had been detained, and therefore she was actually doing her job.
- 38:30Speaker 20: So therefore I'm hesitant to rush in on this one.
- 38:32Speaker 20: But I do think that once an appropriate period of
- 38:35Speaker 20: mourning has passed. Absolutely, there should be a full fledged
- 38:39Speaker 20: Royal commission looking into every single aspect of this disaster,
- 38:43Speaker 20: including the response, including the police presence. It all needs
- 38:46Speaker 20: to be investigated and quickly to Prime Minister Tony Abbott
- 38:49Speaker 20: was very quick to do that after the lind Cafe siege.
- 38:52Speaker 20: I think he launched an inquiry three to four weeks
- 38:54Speaker 20: after it happened, and that same level of scrutiny needs
- 38:58Speaker 20: to be applied here to find out exactly what allowed
- 39:01Speaker 20: this scenario to occur.
- 39:04Speaker 2: And Louise, I think it's even more necessary, but because
- 39:07Speaker 2: I'm afraid Australia has changed and nobody can rule out
- 39:12Speaker 2: another such attempt that massacre.
- 39:15Speaker 19: No, And I think Malennon made a good point when
- 39:17Speaker 19: he said that had they got intelligence suggesting the scene
- 39:20Speaker 19: or the event was going to be targeted, then perhaps
- 39:23Speaker 19: they would have done something different. And also Chris Mins
- 39:26Speaker 19: echoed that sentiment as well. But would they turn up
- 39:29Speaker 19: with long arms in the day. I mean, obviously they didn't,
- 39:31Speaker 19: but they may do in the future. But you echo
- 39:34Speaker 19: MEA's comments that I'm very loath to criticize the police.
- 39:37Speaker 19: They were extremely brave. They ran at the gunman and
- 39:40Speaker 19: as mister Minn said that the police was shot in
- 39:43Speaker 19: the front, not running away from the back. So I
- 39:46Speaker 19: think in the circumstances they did the very best they
- 39:48Speaker 19: could with the weapons they had, and we still need to,
- 39:52Speaker 19: I think, better protect police. If they need to have
- 39:55Speaker 19: better rifles and better weaponry, then let's make sure they
- 39:58Speaker 19: have that, and let's make sure the commit did it
- 40:00Speaker 19: feel safer in the situations like this.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Unfortunately we got to talk that way better arming the
- 40:06Speaker 2: police because society has changed for the very very worst,
- 40:10Speaker 2: usually for Louise Roberts. Thank you very much to you
- 40:13Speaker 2: both after the break. How will this terror attack change
- 40:17Speaker 2: our politics? Is there a lesson from terror hit Britain?
- 40:26Speaker 18: Now?
- 40:26Speaker 2: I've heard from people today who are so depressed what happened,
- 40:32Speaker 2: and not just the deaths, I mean, that's just god
- 40:36Speaker 2: awful enough, but that their own the country has been
- 40:39Speaker 2: so changed and so debased that this could happen, that
- 40:43Speaker 2: they didn't want to hear any more about what happened.
- 40:46Speaker 2: And yet, you know, I felt that I didn't even
- 40:49Speaker 2: mean to devote this whole show as well as yesterday's,
- 40:52Speaker 2: on this our own October seventh, our own massacre of
- 40:56Speaker 2: the Jews. But it was so much to say again
- 40:59Speaker 2: today without something so terrible, and that's something that's going
- 41:03Speaker 2: to change this country so much?
- 41:06Speaker 3: Well will it?
- 41:07Speaker 2: I mean, was Britain changed by the deadly London bombings
- 41:09Speaker 2: of two thousand and five or by another Islamist who
- 41:13Speaker 2: walked into an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester and blew
- 41:17Speaker 2: himself up, killing another twenty two people, many of them
- 41:20Speaker 2: young girls. Although those attacks were different to Bondou because
- 41:24Speaker 2: the Jews weren't singled out there. But even that changed
- 41:28Speaker 2: two months ago when another Islamist attacked the synagogue in Manchester.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Two Jews were killed there. Joining me from London is
- 41:35Speaker 2: Tom Slater, editor of Spiked Online. Tom, great to see
- 41:39Speaker 2: you again. Look, you have just written a terrific piece
- 41:43Speaker 2: on our Bondai massacre and it has a headline saying
- 41:47Speaker 2: this must be a final straw.
- 41:49Speaker 3: What did you mean?
- 41:52Speaker 6: Well, I think that as we've had in the way
- 41:53Speaker 6: to tarr attacks in the UK.
- 41:55Speaker 7: Well, I'm sure you don't want to see.
- 41:57Speaker 6: In Australia is more warm, words is more thoughts, prayers
- 42:00Speaker 6: is more airy platitude and prayers.
- 42:02Speaker 7: Politician, No, exactly.
- 42:05Speaker 6: Exactly and it's one of those things where it's not
- 42:07Speaker 6: good enough anymore. It's not good enough in the way
- 42:09Speaker 6: of the horrific attack that you saw in Bondai. It's
- 42:12Speaker 6: not good enough in the UK after the more than
- 42:14Speaker 6: twenty five years we've had of these kinds of Islamist massacres.
- 42:18Speaker 7: What we need now is action.
- 42:19Speaker 6: We need a confrontation with this evil in our midst
- 42:23Speaker 6: We need politicians who are willing to root out the
- 42:25Speaker 6: people within our societies who want to go to war
- 42:28Speaker 6: with those societies who loathe freedom, who loath the Jews frankly,
- 42:31Speaker 6: who load life. And I think if things like this
- 42:34Speaker 6: aren't going to be the moment that shake us out
- 42:38Speaker 6: of that kind of slumber, I really don't know what
- 42:40Speaker 6: will be.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yeah, But I mean what we we've had our Prime
- 42:45Speaker 2: minis to say, well, we're going to eradicate Jew hatred.
- 42:48Speaker 1: How do you do that?
- 42:50Speaker 3: How on earth do you do that?
- 42:52Speaker 2: I mean, you know, these demographic mistakes are impossible to fix.
- 42:56Speaker 2: You can't go around censoring the verses in the Kuran
- 43:00Speaker 2: and other sacred texts that attack Jews.
- 43:04Speaker 3: You can't do any of that. What can you do.
- 43:07Speaker 4: Well?
- 43:08Speaker 6: I think, first and foremost, it's a case of taking
- 43:10Speaker 6: this issue much more seriously than that has been beforehand.
- 43:13Speaker 6: There has been a tendency to treat is the mis terrorism,
- 43:16Speaker 6: is the miss antisemitism as essentially something which just happens
- 43:20Speaker 6: from time to time.
- 43:20Speaker 7: We do not have to actually live like this.
- 43:23Speaker 6: There are obviously security implications, there's always that that kind
- 43:26Speaker 6: of line that is tructed out about when people are
- 43:29Speaker 6: known to the security services and so on. But I
- 43:31Speaker 6: think broadly speaking, it's quite clear that there are many
- 43:34Speaker 6: people within our societies walking the streets who loathe these societies. Now,
- 43:38Speaker 6: of course, as you say, you can't go around throwing
- 43:40Speaker 6: out liberal freedoms, you can't go around censoring people, you
- 43:44Speaker 6: can't go around essentially trying to greet this authoritarianism with authoritarianism.
- 43:50Speaker 6: But at the same time, wouldn't it be better to
- 43:53Speaker 6: actually take this threat seriously, both on a security level
- 43:56Speaker 6: and also on a moral level to condemn it, because
- 43:58Speaker 6: it's quite clear that in the UK under Starmer and
- 44:01Speaker 6: in Australia under Anthony orban Aze, there's been an appeasement
- 44:04Speaker 6: of this. There's been a green light given to this,
- 44:06Speaker 6: recognizing Anstein, rewarding hamas and so on.
- 44:09Speaker 7: Clearly that's the stop.
- 44:12Speaker 3: Well.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I noticed that in Britain it's one of the avenues
- 44:16Speaker 2: that the public is screaming for is cuts in immigration,
- 44:21Speaker 2: particularly legal immigration, and I suspect the immigration from the
- 44:25Speaker 2: Third World that's been very pronounced and Naja Faraj is
- 44:30Speaker 2: riding high in the polls. But Tom, there's been a
- 44:33Speaker 2: lot of blame here for our prime Mini, so you
- 44:35Speaker 2: attack him in your peace as well. We've had American
- 44:40Speaker 2: leaders also attack him. But if you have the same
- 44:44Speaker 2: jew hatred in Britain, isn't the problem bigger than any
- 44:48Speaker 2: one leader in any one country.
- 44:51Speaker 7: I think that's fair to say.
- 44:52Speaker 6: And I don't think any of us would have started
- 44:54Speaker 6: from here if we've been perfectly frank. These are the
- 44:57Speaker 6: culmination of a lot of the years long, decades long
- 45:00Speaker 6: issues in relation to poorous borders, in relation to state multiculturalism,
- 45:05Speaker 6: in relation to a blind eye which has been turned
- 45:07Speaker 6: to the world's old hatred as it has made a comeback.
- 45:11Speaker 6: But at the same time, I think the least that
- 45:12Speaker 6: we could ask of our politicians at a time like
- 45:14Speaker 6: this is that they said the issue seriously is that
- 45:16Speaker 6: they've come out of a clear program as to how
- 45:19Speaker 6: these things are going to be tackled, whereas at the
- 45:21Speaker 6: moment we treat terrorist attacks, anti anti Semitic attacks as
- 45:24Speaker 6: if they're kind of like natural disasters.
- 45:26Speaker 7: They're horrible, they're terrible, we mourn and we move on.
- 45:29Speaker 6: That's not good enough anymore. And I think it's right
- 45:31Speaker 6: to hold politicians to account when all they offer up
- 45:34Speaker 6: is warm words rather than action at.
- 45:35Speaker 2: A time like this, Yes, but I mean the demography
- 45:40Speaker 2: has a bit against you. I mean London with its
- 45:42Speaker 2: Muslim mayor who doesn't seem very keen and tackling you know,
- 45:46Speaker 2: extreamism as much as other me as would be. How
- 45:52Speaker 2: have the terrorist attacks in Britain actually changed your countries?
- 45:56Speaker 2: So what can we expect here?
- 45:57Speaker 3: Do you think.
- 46:00Speaker 6: It's a really important point because we have been rocked
- 46:02Speaker 6: by terror attack after terror attack since nineteen ninety nine.
- 46:05Speaker 6: You know, ninety four percent of the terror related deaths
- 46:08Speaker 6: that we've seen have been down to Islamist extremism. And yet,
- 46:11Speaker 6: you know, we talk about what we could do differently. Still, nevertheless,
- 46:14Speaker 6: Islamist extremism isn't even the number one reason why people
- 46:17Speaker 6: are referred to our counter radicalization programs. There is this
- 46:20Speaker 6: kind of in built statewide political correctness around this issue.
- 46:24Speaker 6: Even after the bodies are piling up in the streets,
- 46:28Speaker 6: there's so much simple things which haven't even been tried,
- 46:30Speaker 6: you know, basically trying to look at the tens of
- 46:33Speaker 6: thousands of people we have on our own watch list.
- 46:35Speaker 6: It's three quarters of our five case lader taking up
- 46:38Speaker 6: by Islamist terrorism, and yet many of these people are
- 46:41Speaker 6: still walking the streets. So I think it's one of
- 46:43Speaker 6: those things. Of course we need to talk about policy,
- 46:46Speaker 6: and also we need to bear in mind that not
- 46:47Speaker 6: everywhere around the world, even in the Muslim world, does
- 46:49Speaker 6: not have this issue. But I think Western society is
- 46:52Speaker 6: in particular gripped by multiculturism and political correctness, have been,
- 46:56Speaker 6: if anything, more hesitant, more feeble, more cowardly in response
- 47:01Speaker 6: to this attack, then even many other places that we
- 47:03Speaker 6: might seek to learn from, so that we wouldn't start
- 47:05Speaker 6: from here, but we do have to, and I think
- 47:07Speaker 6: that starts with action rather than just words talking.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:11Speaker 2: I think part of the problem too is that countries
- 47:13Speaker 2: like yours and particularly ours, trash their own symbols, thrash
- 47:17Speaker 2: their and traditions, the symbols of national identity, and they
- 47:24Speaker 2: don't give anything for new immigrants or the children of
- 47:29Speaker 2: immigrants to feel that that is something they should give
- 47:33Speaker 2: their loyalty to feel pride in themselves, so they retreat
- 47:38Speaker 2: to their own identity groups to get that feeling of
- 47:42Speaker 2: being belong to something bigger than themselves. Isn't that an
- 47:45Speaker 2: issue too in Britain? Oh?
- 47:47Speaker 6: Absolutely, because we can't purely look at this in terms
- 47:50Speaker 6: of people who are coming into the country. You're also
- 47:52Speaker 6: going to ask the question of what country are they
- 47:54Speaker 6: a arriving into? And precisely as you say, they're arriving
- 47:57Speaker 6: into countries which are self loathing, which, if any thing,
- 48:00Speaker 6: lend credence to the kind of grievance narratives which are
- 48:02Speaker 6: put about by the Islamist which preached the idea that
- 48:06Speaker 6: these prosperous, Western, liberal, enlightened countries actually hate minorities, are
- 48:11Speaker 6: actually set against the people that actually we welcome. And
- 48:15Speaker 6: that's a big part of addressing that is reversing that
- 48:17Speaker 6: kind of self loathing.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Definitely, Tom Slater, always great to talk to you. Thank
- 48:22Speaker 2: you so much for your time.
- 48:24Speaker 3: That's it from me. Coming up next, Sherry Mason, good night,
