Transcript
- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10She's no Trish, that's for sure. Welcome to What's Your Least
- 0:13favorite Scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:16the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd in all of our.
- 0:18Favorite and least favorite scary movies?
- 0:20Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has its fan
- 0:23base. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:24My name is Travis. My name is Jessie and and
- 0:27welcome back to our monthly bonus series, Live uncut and
- 0:31mostly undrawn. This is to be or not to be where
- 0:34we go to the free streaming services and look up those
- 0:37hidden gems that we might not find otherwise.
- 0:39Yeah, yeah. And this month it was my pick
- 0:43and y'all, I actually picked a like brand new movie basically.
- 0:48Yes and no. Yes and no.
- 0:49I'm going to talk about that some.
- 0:51Yeah, we'll get there. Actually we can just we'll just
- 0:54hop right into it cuz this is bonus episode so we don't have
- 0:58all the normal rigmarole. True.
- 1:01I mean I guess since this is kind of like a random 1 though
- 1:03like it is what's the what's the movie called again?
- 1:06It's called another Cabin in the Woods movie.
- 1:09Yes, yes, thank you. I forgot to say the.
- 1:11Title. Yeah, not a sequel.
- 1:14Not a sequel, but let's just we're gonna talk about it.
- 1:18Yeah, OK, Ready. Let's do it.
- 1:19Let's do it. OK, this released November 8th,
- 1:222024 like a literal week ago. That's crazy.
- 1:26I didn't realize it was this month that it came out.
- 1:29I saw 2024. I just didn't.
- 1:30Wow. Yes, it premiered on To Be So.
- 1:33Dang, y'all getting their premiere up in here?
- 1:36So obviously that's where we watched it.
- 1:37That's where it's available. Written by Joe Bandelli, Nick
- 1:40Landa and Matthew Wise, directed by Joe Bandelli, music by Carl
- 1:44Pruser. And there is one makeup person
- 1:47for the whole production, so I'm gonna assume that they were also
- 1:50doing the special effects makeup.
- 1:52And that person is Lex and Rosser.
- 1:54Starring Nicole Pesent as Danny at Clea Alsip as Sarah, Dwayne
- 1:59Cooper as Carter, Matthew Wise as Grant Allison McKenzie Wells
- 2:04as Trish, Jackie Byrne as Beth, Ralph Cashin as Walter, and Joe
- 2:09Bendelli as Hector Manuel. Gonzalo Domingo the third, but
- 2:13you can call him Jay Jay. Oh wait, hold on, is so like,
- 2:20those are the riders that are in there too.
- 2:22All of them are a character I always write.
- 2:24Not Nick Landa. Oh no.
- 2:27OK. But Matthew Wise, he was the
- 2:29groom and Joe Bandelli the officiant.
- 2:34Yes. OK, cool.
- 2:36All right. Time for our favorite game
- 2:38budget or Buck Ted. Anything.
- 2:45Oh, right. I got a guess.
- 2:46Yes. Yeah.
- 2:47I was just staring. I I was.
- 2:50Like did. I forget all this notes.
- 2:55Your your stare was so earnest that.
- 2:58It gaspled me into thinking. I was doing it wrong.
- 3:02I'm sorry, absolutely bug tub. Yes, it in fact is one of those
- 3:09that I don't have any figures on.
- 3:10I'm not surprised, but you just you look at it and you know, you
- 3:14know it's bug tub. Not bad though, doesn't look
- 3:18that bad. You have to actually get them
- 3:20props. Yeah, it's it's really well done
- 3:22and I'm excited to talk some more about it.
- 3:24I do have an IMDb score right now.
- 3:26It's 5.6 out of 10. Hey, that's good.
- 3:29Yes. All right.
- 3:30I'm glad that it's on the positive side.
- 3:32I have 3 movies. No taglines.
- 3:36That's after the movies. This is shit man, I always get
- 3:39that mixed up. What the hell?
- 3:42I'm so fucked up here right now. We're alive.
- 3:44We are alive. I'm sorry.
- 3:47Go ahead, taglines Jesse. No moviecoping.
- 3:55I'm just gonna shut up and let this show roll. 3/20/24 horror
- 4:00movies I wanted to do a much more fun theme of the radio is
- 4:05actually a third character, but I thought if I stood long legs
- 4:09for 1/3. Week I was about to say I was
- 4:12before you even said anything is I was gonna guess first one long
- 4:15legs that's been in every 2024 movie we've covered this movie
- 4:19so I was and we haven't even talked about that movie.
- 4:22I know, so my theme is much less inspired.
- 4:26It is isolation. Hold on, that's good, but were
- 4:33there enough to have 3 movies with the radio being a
- 4:36character? I had a couple and I was going
- 4:40to find a third one and then I was like I can't, I just can't
- 4:42do long legs again. Because honestly, I would kind
- 4:44of respect it and it would be a little funny.
- 4:48But you know, isolation is cool too.
- 4:50I'm glad that we're switching it up some.
- 4:52All right, so the first one is actually one we haven't seen,
- 4:56and it's called The Watchers. It's got Dakota Fanning.
- 4:59It's the one where she's like running in the woods and goes
- 5:02into that house and there's people in the woods watching
- 5:05them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:08That released June 7th, 2024. Don't have a budget, but it made
- 5:13a $33 million world gross. I get the fannings messed up.
- 5:18Is she the one that was in the Twilight movies?
- 5:20Yes. OK.
- 5:21Ellie, her younger sister, is the one that was in the model
- 5:24movie Neon Damon. Right, OK.
- 5:28IMDb score a 5.7 out of 10. Not bad, OK?
- 5:332nd movie in a violent nature. Hey, OK, Yeah.
- 5:37That released June 28th, 2024. No budget, but a $4.5 million
- 5:41gross in an IMDb score of 5.6 out of 10A.
- 5:45Little good. I'm still shocked that that
- 5:48movie is as divisive as it is. I do think that In a Violent
- 5:52Nature 2 is officially in pre production because when I you
- 5:55know, went to pull it up on IMDb, In a Violent Nature 2
- 5:58popped up right underneath it. I saw that.
- 6:00Yeah, but I've we've finally seen Terrified 3 and I still
- 6:05think in a violent nature is in contention for my movie of the
- 6:08year. Wow.
- 6:10Yeah, that movie fucking hit. OK, well the next one is in
- 6:14contention for my movie of the year.
- 6:16Tier 4/3. Blink twice Blink.
- 6:19Twice that's. The one with Channing Tatum and.
- 6:23Wow, yeah sure, I forgot about that movie.
- 6:25Yes, yes, I wanna talk about that on the podcast.
- 6:30I need to not be so fresh off of current events to talk about
- 6:35that movie. It gets dark.
- 6:38Yeah, Yeah. We won't go into any spoiler
- 6:41zones with that right there, but yeah.
- 6:43That released August 23rd, 2024. Budget of 20 million and a
- 6:47worldwide gross of 46,000,000. IDB score of 6.5 out of 10.
- 6:52That move, if he made money, yeah, I'm impressed.
- 6:54I'm happy it made money. I'm happy it's got a high score.
- 6:57Yeah, I'm happy. People generally seem to really
- 6:59love it. A lot of people like it.
- 7:00Yeah, OK, I have two tag lines. Now it's time for tag lines.
- 7:05And one of them's not really A tag line.
- 7:07It's one of those that I hate that I had to include it and
- 7:09you'll understand why. Is it a review?
- 7:12Hold on. OK, so the first the actual tag
- 7:14line, all they wanted was a house in the forest.
- 7:18OK. Yeah, that's fitting.
- 7:20Yeah, I like it. And then this one from the guy,
- 7:25from one of the guys who brought you the Hell House LLC
- 7:28franchise, not him, the other one.
- 7:32Yeah, that's funny. Yeah, well, you mentioned that
- 7:34to me last night. So I didn't.
- 7:37We don't do background info so much on the to be or not to be
- 7:42episodes. But I do need everybody to know
- 7:44the rabbit hole that I went down last night because as we're
- 7:46watching this, I do what I always do and I go on IMDb to
- 7:50figure out why these people look familiar.
- 7:51Yeah. And as I'm looking through, I
- 7:53noticed every single one of them also has a movie called Cabin
- 7:56Fear from 2015. And it's this movie is an hour
- 8:00and 17. Cabin Fear is an hour 32.
- 8:05And I'm noticing that they're all in there.
- 8:08And then when I start paying attention, I realize it's all
- 8:09the same character names. And I realized it's the same
- 8:11director and it's the same writers minus Nick Landa.
- 8:14So it's still Joe Bandelli and Matthew Wise.
- 8:17And I'm like, then I read the description and it's the same
- 8:20description of the movie. And then I look at stills from
- 8:22the movie and it's some of the exact same shots.
- 8:25Not reshot but like the exact shots.
- 8:28So the exact same movie. So I was sitting there and I was
- 8:34like, did they do what we always say on the show where like you
- 8:38need to just cut down the parts that don't work, Just take the
- 8:41time you need to tell the story? I don't know.
- 8:44I messaged Joe Bandelli, haven't gotten a response yet.
- 8:49If we get a response. I would do nothing, yeah.
- 8:52Because I'm just like sitting here free and we didn't have
- 8:55time to watch like a whole other movie before all this.
- 8:57Cause we've also got a record, our Child's play episode today.
- 9:00But it it I'm, I'm kind of losing my mind about this, you
- 9:05guys. I I have theories for what it
- 9:08could be. OK, so my first thing that jumps
- 9:12me is that they did what you said.
- 9:14They recut it. They retitled it to try and give
- 9:16it more of a more marketable appeal to it.
- 9:21So like the name of it that grabs your attention, That grabs
- 9:25my attention more than what was the other one.
- 9:27Fear something Cabin fear. Cabin fear.
- 9:29Yeah, that sounds generic as fuck.
- 9:32I think the comedy in the movie suits the title that they have
- 9:36here. I also, I wonder if see, we
- 9:40don't know. I think that they, because you
- 9:42said that there's an additional writer now, yes, which is
- 9:45probably the person that's not acting in this movie, if I had
- 9:48to guess. Your theory last night was that
- 9:50those the radio stuff was added in?
- 9:53Yes, as like a post thing, just, you know, it's almost like a
- 9:58commentary of the movie going on during the movie.
- 10:02Yes. So I don't know.
- 10:05I'm dying to know. I really hope he answers so.
- 10:09I me too. It could also be re editing
- 10:12certain scenes like I said before and then I thought I have
- 10:14another one. What if they dubbed over some
- 10:16scenes to make them more comical?
- 10:19What if this originally played as a very straight horror movie
- 10:23and then they turned it into a parody of those?
- 10:27I don't know, and I like, I know a director's style can change so
- 10:31much in nearly a decade, so I just, I, I'm fascinated and
- 10:37really wanna know the story behind it 'cause I had such a
- 10:40good time with this. Yeah, yeah, same.
- 10:43I'm really curious. I hope he answers.
- 10:45That'd be amazing if he does. So to get into it, I picked this
- 10:50movie mostly because I pulled up Toby and it was one of the first
- 10:54things that popped up. And I was like, huh?
- 10:57And I clicked on it just to watch the trailer.
- 11:00And you guys, the trailer hit the right sense of humor for me
- 11:04'cause like, it was very much like, this is a trailer.
- 11:07Like they were in a cabin in the woods.
- 11:10We're getting married at a cabin in the woods.
- 11:12This was supposed to be their time.
- 11:14This is supposed to be our time. Then the power goes out.
- 11:18Yeah, we saw like the the trailer.
- 11:22I was like, Oh my God. If they can make the trailer
- 11:24this funny and engaging, I want to see what they do with a full
- 11:27movie. And personally, I feel like I
- 11:29was not let down. But I'm going to throw it to you
- 11:31first since this was my pick. Starting off with the good OK of
- 11:36our good, bad, ugly and absurd. Yes, so I also I agree with you.
- 11:40I think they they sold it well with that trailer.
- 11:43That's a good way to it sold the humor and it like it actually
- 11:51lived up to the humor that the trailer did.
- 11:55So this is a fun movie. It's a weird one.
- 11:58I thought we were going to get a parody movie where it was going
- 12:01to be something that is kind of like the Disaster Movie, Scary
- 12:06Movie, stuff like that, where we were just going to get all kinds
- 12:08of Cabin in the Woods type movies where they were going to
- 12:10be making fun. Of that the thumbnail they had
- 12:16of Beth's character, I thought maybe she was becoming like a
- 12:19dead eye or. Something.
- 12:20Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
- 12:21Yeah. So I'm a little bit surprised we
- 12:23didn't get that, but I'm not disappointed with what it
- 12:26actually was. This was just a straight up,
- 12:30it's just poking fun at the movie itself.
- 12:33It's not even necessarily poking fun at a certain genre.
- 12:36It's just making fun of itself the entire time.
- 12:38Yes. Which is interesting.
- 12:41One of the things that I thought was really cool is it's meta in
- 12:45a way that I've not seen before where it was like that, where
- 12:49the radio is going on the entire time an they're just commenting
- 12:53on the scenes, the characters, all kinds of things.
- 12:56They're just like making snarky comments.
- 12:58You got and and. What he's talking about if you
- 13:00haven't watched this movie, first of all watch the movie is
- 13:02a little over an hour it's a. Very.
- 13:03It's a short movie, yeah. But they have like the radio
- 13:07playing. So it's like flipping between
- 13:09songs, talk show radio traffic reports and everything that's
- 13:14happening is like narrating what's happening in the movie.
- 13:17So like the traffic report at one point at the beginning, it's
- 13:19like how traffic looks pretty clear today.
- 13:22All we see are two cars and what appears to be some floating
- 13:24text. And this is like when the
- 13:26opening credits are going on or like they're having the talk
- 13:28show and they'll be like, I don't know.
- 13:30I just, I think that maybe they're they're gonna die after
- 13:33they have some sex, like. Yeah, it also whenever music is
- 13:37about. Dead.
- 13:38Yeah, she's dead. She's dead.
- 13:40She's definitely dead. Yeah, it's like, here's some
- 13:43royalty free music for you guys right here, and then it just
- 13:46starts playing music. It's really interesting.
- 13:48I've not seen anything like that before.
- 13:49I don't respect it. They nailed it.
- 13:51I thought that that was actually really funny.
- 13:52It was entertaining. I guess my only problem with it
- 13:56is that it's so much in the background that I missed most of
- 14:00it. Yeah, which it's definitely one
- 14:02of those that like I would have, I would love to watch it again
- 14:05without taking notes. Yeah, that's what well, that
- 14:07right there probably benefits from a repeat viewing.
- 14:11Yes, for sure, just alone. But yeah, I it's a it's a
- 14:15generic story, but it's meant to be.
- 14:17It's fun. They have fun.
- 14:19I'm impressed with what these guys did.
- 14:20This this looks like a movie that a bunch of friends made on
- 14:25their own, all creatives. And they actually went above
- 14:31what you would expect from something like that with this
- 14:33right here. They made a pretty well made
- 14:36movie. I I'm really impressed with it.
- 14:37It's funny. Yes, I think all of the acting
- 14:40is pretty decent, which you don't typically see in such a
- 14:44small slow budget. Horror movie.
- 14:46I was thinking that too. They all did a great job with
- 14:48their characters. I I think that it's well shot.
- 14:52I'd say it's well edited. That sense of humor.
- 14:56Like you said, we had that meta stuff happening, but there were
- 14:59also some things that felt very like Naked Gun or National
- 15:03Lampoon style humor to me. Like the animal sounds How?
- 15:06I love that. That was so funny.
- 15:08My God. And it just, it kept ramping up
- 15:11in a way that managed to catch me off guard every time because
- 15:15like, we start off there driving down the road and we're hearing
- 15:17like, and then we hear, what is it like a horse?
- 15:23A horse name and then after that you hear the monkey.
- 15:26Then we hear like, yeah, we hear a monkey at one point.
- 15:29At one point there's a dolphin. Oh, the Panther, the Panthers.
- 15:32What happened? Yeah, yeah.
- 15:33It's like you're hearing normal sounds.
- 15:35You're like, well, the horse is. No, the horse is when they're in
- 15:37the woods. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:38No, at the beginning it's like chicken, cow and then Panther.
- 15:43Like what? My the it's the stock sound that
- 15:47you always hear with monkey screams.
- 15:48Yes, always. And that fucking kills me.
- 15:51If it's well placed all the time, yes.
- 15:53I love it. Like stuff like that.
- 15:55Or like the caretaker, his voice just randomly dropping like.
- 15:59That was weird. Sinister thing.
- 16:00Yeah, that was interesting. So I thought the sense of humor
- 16:03was 5000% on point. I was chuckling throughout and
- 16:10like I said, I think it was, I think it was really well done.
- 16:12Yeah, really tight, kept the story moving along.
- 16:15And I, I think like what you said, it's a pretty simple
- 16:18story, but I think it has to be because part of what you're
- 16:20trying to do is just let like those elements shine.
- 16:24And make fun of it while it's happening.
- 16:26Yeah, you're making fun of the fact that it's another Cabin in
- 16:30the Woods movie. Yes, yes, OK.
- 16:33Bad stuff, yes, I guess like I said, like I think, I don't
- 16:41know, I, I think even on a second viewing, some of the
- 16:45stuff that's going on in the background can be hard to get
- 16:49because people are talking scenes are playing out, people
- 16:52are talking actions happening. So you don't really get the the
- 16:57full things that they're saying on like the radio and stuff like
- 17:02that, which I think like if you're going to do that, you
- 17:05need to at least make it be like you can single it out.
- 17:10Yeah, type thing. This right here.
- 17:11It's going to be tough when you watch it again.
- 17:13I think maybe it was because we were taking notes, but also
- 17:17whenever I was sitting there and just watching it, I was still
- 17:19because I was, there were times where I'm like, I need to listen
- 17:21to see what this is saying and I couldn't pick up exactly what
- 17:24was being said. OK.
- 17:27Other than that, yeah, the budget probably gets in the way
- 17:31of a little bit of some things. I think even with the stuff that
- 17:35they had though, I think some of the some of the character, the
- 17:41camera angles could have been a little bit better.
- 17:44It could have been shot a little bit more interestingly.
- 17:47OK, as it is, it's very flat, straight to DVD.
- 17:51Like I'm going to use the space lens and I'm not going to get
- 17:55interesting with anything. It's just like there could have
- 17:59been some better creative decisions.
- 18:01And again, I wonder if this was mostly shot in 2015.
- 18:05I wonder what his style looks like now.
- 18:08And that is one of the things I was thinking when you brought
- 18:11that up last night, This, if it was shot back then, it
- 18:15surprisingly holds up really well a decade later.
- 18:18It's impressive, honestly. Yeah.
- 18:20But that's about really the only bad things I can say about this
- 18:24movie. Yeah, I really, I don't have a
- 18:31lot of bad. I wish maybe they had played
- 18:33with the red herring thing a little bit more.
- 18:35Yeah. Like maybe giving us a like,
- 18:39maybe just like a little bit of very obvious reasons to suspect
- 18:42people like kind of keep in the tone of their sense of humor.
- 18:45But then it's like an easy to explain away kind of thing.
- 18:48Yeah. You know, the thing that makes
- 18:50this hard to find a bad for it is we all know what this is.
- 18:55We signed up for it when we pressed play.
- 18:57Yeah. So it's not.
- 19:00It's exactly what I was expecting.
- 19:01Yeah, in a parody movie, I never expect to be surprised by who
- 19:05the killer is. No, I just wish they had played
- 19:07with like the thought of like the red herring stuff a little
- 19:09bit more. Yeah, it is kind of interesting.
- 19:12And some of the things that make me think that maybe it was
- 19:13played up as a straight horror movie originally is like the
- 19:17ending when it shows her reveal, like the reveal of who the
- 19:22killer is. Yeah.
- 19:23Cuz all like that final finale is almost straight up horror.
- 19:28There's really nothing comical going on about it.
- 19:31Yes, I agree with that, Yeah. It's, it's interesting, I guess
- 19:35it also just has a little bit of that going where.
- 19:37But that's cool. That's what you want from a
- 19:39horror comedy. You want some horror and you
- 19:41want some comedy? Yeah.
- 19:43Yeah, I agree. OK, ugly.
- 19:47Well, there are a few things I suppose.
- 19:54I guess the whole thing with Grant kissing up on Danny and
- 20:01getting busted for that and he was going in for seconds.
- 20:03I'm sorry. Grant, according to the
- 20:05captions, I believe you mean Grunt.
- 20:07Grunt, yeah. Grunt farts Grunt I.
- 20:11Forgot, I forgot he had the little fart things going on the
- 20:16entire time. Yeah.
- 20:18And how easily she is just like, oh, it's cool.
- 20:21Like yeah, you just straight up kiss.
- 20:23But you know, it's, it's crazy what people do for love.
- 20:26Yeah. And it's like, OK, just hand
- 20:27wave it away cuz you love him and that's it.
- 20:31Nah, he was a shitty partner. Yeah.
- 20:34She tried to break up a marriage.
- 20:36Yeah. After right after it happened.
- 20:38Like and insisting that nothing was going on when she's been
- 20:42called out on it multiple times. Yeah, and she was so shocked.
- 20:45Like, why didn't you invite me to the wedding?
- 20:47I don't know, Danny. Maybe because of this.
- 20:50Maybe because you were trying to get all over this just, like,
- 20:53pointing at himself. Yeah.
- 20:56I don't know. OK, That's about it.
- 20:57OK. What about you?
- 21:02Yeah, just him. Yeah.
- 21:07Like actually doing that to the bride as she's saying her
- 21:10wedding vows. Yeah, I he'd hit on every single
- 21:15one of them except for Beth. And he was like, I'm not into
- 21:18her. And I love the shot though, when
- 21:20they point to her and she's like got the champagne flute and
- 21:22she's just sticking her tongue in it like a dog, like.
- 21:25Yeah, that's funny. That's character honestly
- 21:29cracked me the fuck up. She was a perfect, like a Comic
- 21:33Relief. You know, she kind of does have
- 21:35a dead eye thing that goes on with her.
- 21:37Yeah. It is a little bit weird.
- 21:40Hers is kind of strange, absurd, absurd.
- 21:43Oh boy. Well, you could just say this
- 21:46entire movie, but that would be a cop out if you ask me.
- 21:48Yeah, it's a cop out. Yeah, so the first, they're just
- 21:53kind of bland. OK, here I have the J going the
- 21:57entire time because that was really funny.
- 21:59I liked it. I liked I had the radio
- 22:01commentary going on. I also, now that you're reminded
- 22:05me the Grant farting constantly grunt.
- 22:08Fart. It just, it starts out slowly
- 22:10but then as the movie goes on you'll just like get him walking
- 22:13out the door and he'll do like 5 farts before he walks out.
- 22:18It's really funny. And earlier you were like, did
- 22:21you put that we like fart jokes in our blue sky?
- 22:24Yeah, I'm not. I'm not against it.
- 22:27And I don't disagree. I was just, I never seen that.
- 22:31All of our official podcast information is like, hey, we go,
- 22:33this is a horror movie shit. And then I went on in Blue Sky
- 22:36and it's like, by the way, we played pets and fart jokes.
- 22:41OK Art too. Oh, yeah.
- 22:42And art. Yeah, art.
- 22:44Fart art. Fart smart.
- 22:50Oh man, OK, what's your absurd? Oh, that's a good question.
- 22:56I. It's tough to pick isn't.
- 22:58It yeah, 'cause there's a lot that's going on.
- 23:00OK, OK, I'm not going to pick the obvious funny stuff that
- 23:03we've talked about. Instead, I'm going to say their
- 23:05suggestion of taking the tires from Jay's tiny little sedan and
- 23:12putting them on Grant's SUV as though the tires would fit.
- 23:19Yeah, I didn't even think about that, but that.
- 23:21Yeah, that wouldn't work. But then again I.
- 23:23Don't know. Maybe, maybe not, I don't know.
- 23:27It's worth a try I guess. You know, I think another one is
- 23:31the fact that they invite Mr. Clayton to the wedding and he
- 23:34doesn't come to the wedding, but he comes to the cabin dressed up
- 23:37nicely just to hang out and drink whiskey after.
- 23:39That no, they specifically invited him to the reception.
- 23:42Oh really? He was not invited.
- 23:45That's that's even better. And he was cool with it and he
- 23:49showed up at the reception. Which is like one of those that
- 23:52like, you do sometimes when it's like, OK, awkward.
- 23:55I don't know what else to say. And then you're like, oh, you,
- 23:57you showed up. Yeah.
- 23:59You're here. That's this is the thing.
- 24:01Hi. OK.
- 24:04Do you want to rate it now? Yes.
- 24:07All right. I like this movie.
- 24:08It was a lot of fun. I think I'd give it a 7.
- 24:12I'm going to give it an 8 1/2. I had so much fucking fun
- 24:16watching those. It was really hard not talking
- 24:18about it last. Night it was, yeah.
- 24:20We finished. Yeah.
- 24:22So we're starting off with 7.75 average.
- 24:27Not bad. That's good.
- 24:28All right. Are we ready?
- 24:30We are ready. We start off with a quote from
- 24:35Mignon McLaughlin. A successful marriage requires
- 24:39falling in love many times and never getting murdered at your
- 24:42own wedding. That is a great quote, yeah.
- 24:46And that's, I mean, I'd say that those are two like necessary, if
- 24:52not sufficient things for a successful marriage.
- 24:55Absolutely, yeah. I can't disagree with any of
- 24:58that. I mean, not being killed on our
- 25:00wedding day was. It's been serving me greatly.
- 25:02Yeah, I'm actually really quite grateful of it.
- 25:04I'm grateful that I didn't die on our honeymoon.
- 25:06Came close, tried my damnedest but I didn't so.
- 25:10That's true, you know? Yeah.
- 25:14So we also get some gentle, foreboding music.
- 25:17Yes. As they're driving with the
- 25:20animal sounds, the radio is saying that Airbnb's have been
- 25:24having like an uptick in murders happening with the owners, like
- 25:27just reporting, finding dead bodies and blood all over their
- 25:31rentals. Yeah, that's another thing that
- 25:33tells me that this was maybe done after the fact, because I
- 25:35don't think Airbnb was a big thing back then 2014.
- 25:41Yeah, I'm not. Sure.
- 25:42Or 2015. I'm trying to think of when we
- 25:44went to. Shaky News Cleveland Cleveland,
- 25:48OH. Because you got an Airbnb.
- 25:50That was like when it was like almost noon.
- 25:52Yeah, too. That was around 20.
- 25:54That was 2017. OK, Because I remember it was
- 25:56when the switch came out. And just last week you were
- 26:01saying that you can't remember important things in yours.
- 26:04I just distinctly remember walking around Cleveland being
- 26:07like, Zelda just came out. I was like, I can't wait to get
- 26:11that shit whenever I can get that shit.
- 26:13But then again, we wait until Mario came out.
- 26:16That OK. But either way, either way,
- 26:18yeah. So there's also news choppers
- 26:20just flying over them. We get like camera crews that
- 26:23are just watching them and they're just like giving news
- 26:26reports of what's going on here. We also have the Horny
- 26:29Meditation app that comes up a couple of times in this and I as
- 26:34Carter's driving, he's doing like a meditation.
- 26:36It's like, suck it in, blow it out.
- 26:40Yeah, and he's getting a blowjob while he's driving there.
- 26:44Yes, I believe. I believe the kids refer to that
- 26:47as. Road head?
- 26:48Yep, that is exactly what it is. Yeah, and they all arrive there.
- 26:53Yep, they get to the cabin. His car is fucked up though, he
- 26:57pops the hood and there's something wrong with the engine.
- 26:59I don't know car shit. Carters.
- 27:01Yes. Carters, Yeah.
- 27:03Jay pulls up after them. So there's no service on any of
- 27:07their cell phones. Somebody tries to make a call
- 27:10and it says, sorry, no service in this world.
- 27:13Yeah, so they Jay is gonna be doing the marrying.
- 27:19He's gonna be What's the term? I said it once already.
- 27:24He's gonna be what? Are you gonna come up with I
- 27:28wanna hear this? Go on, say what word do you
- 27:33think it is? I don't know.
- 27:35I'm drawing blanks. Marriage, man.
- 27:38The Merryman, It could be he's, but he's so inappropriate.
- 27:47As soon as he arrives, he is I fucking every single one of
- 27:50them, including Carter, because he gets a handful of that ass.
- 27:55Whenever he walks by, he's like and he just like takes his hand,
- 27:58just rubs it all. Yeah, all across his butt.
- 28:01Would you like to know the word? Yeah.
- 28:04Efficient. Yes, thank you.
- 28:06Efficient. Yeah, man, That's not that's not
- 28:10Mary. I thought it would be something
- 28:13with whatever. Officiating the ceremony.
- 28:15Official. Yes.
- 28:16Officiating. Yep.
- 28:17OK, look man, let's move on. Let's move on.
- 28:22I can't do this shit. OK, so they are having a hard
- 28:29time unlocking the door. The doors are locked so they go
- 28:31around back to try and get in. The caretaker appears.
- 28:34He says that this is private property.
- 28:36And they're like, Oh well, but we rented it.
- 28:38And he was like, oh, why didn't you just say so?
- 28:40And as he's talking like his voice will randomly drop into
- 28:43sinister like exorcist type tones.
- 28:45Yeah, it's strange. And then he lets them in and
- 28:51they're like this. There's like an old fashioned
- 28:54phone on the wall. And Carter's like, this phone
- 28:56has no cord. And the caretaker goes, yeah,
- 28:58it's just for decoration. You can't use your cell phone.
- 29:02My house has a phone about 1/4 mile away.
- 29:06Yeah. They invited him to come stay
- 29:08and hang for drinks. But she does.
- 29:11Well, they they invited him to come back for the reception.
- 29:12They're going to do the ceremony by the brook.
- 29:14No, no, they're hanging out there for a little bit too.
- 29:16He's giving them a background on the places like I lived here for
- 29:1930 years. That's when I.
- 29:20Became the character, the reception.
- 29:23That is nice. It is.
- 29:24Is it? Yes.
- 29:26Oh man. Oh yeah, you're right.
- 29:28Oh shit. Yeah, the ceremony is blank and
- 29:31you'll miss it. They're getting married.
- 29:33Done. Yeah, yeah, it is that yeah,
- 29:36they're up there saying their vows and Jay's just up there
- 29:39just like, you know, being getting into everybody up there.
- 29:44So they go back inside, Danny is sabering champagne bottles and
- 29:47as she hits one of the corks out, it hits Walter as he walks
- 29:51back in. And he goes, yeah, So the radio
- 29:55is again, it's narrating everything and predicting the
- 29:57plot, like who will be killed 1st and whatnot.
- 30:02The I wrote the officiance horny because he's just going around
- 30:06trying trying whoever he can. Is this when he's talking to
- 30:11Carter and Grant about all the people there and they're yes.
- 30:14You do realize that one of those women is the girl that I married
- 30:18and the other one is his girlfriend?
- 30:21It very much reminds reminds me of April and Andy's wedding
- 30:24where Oh my God why can't I think of his name?
- 30:28The guy from the animal control. Yeah, I know you're talking
- 30:31about SO. What's her deal?
- 30:32Is she down to clown? She just got married.
- 30:35You're at her wedding? Yeah.
- 30:37He's all right. It's.
- 30:38The same shit, yeah. So the caretaker, he's been
- 30:43there about 30 years. I've been taking care of the
- 30:45house that long. His wife died 12 years ago.
- 30:49Danny reaches for like he cuz he's holding this necklace as
- 30:52he's talking about his wife and it's clearly hers.
- 30:56Yeah, I don't know if it's like her necklace, if it's one of
- 30:58those like if it's a keepsake type necklace, something.
- 31:01And Danny just like reaches out and grabs it and he slaps her.
- 31:06And I say good for him cuz you don't just grab strangers.
- 31:11Yeah, it doesn't matter who they are if they're old, if they are.
- 31:15If they have an exorcist voice like you don't just you don't,
- 31:19don't touch strangers. No, Danny.
- 31:21Just don't do it. Yeah, No, Danny is they she's
- 31:24they frame her to be like a good person at first, but then really
- 31:27throughout the whole movie, she's just kind of.
- 31:28She doesn't understand boundaries.
- 31:30She doesn't at all boundary list.
- 31:33Yeah, and he also mentioned that his wife, when she did die 12
- 31:36years ago, that something took her over and just ended her.
- 31:39Yeah. So it is kind of like a
- 31:41possession type thing apparently.
- 31:44Trish is going downstairs to her room and Jay follows her and is
- 31:49like being really gross and he starts licking her face.
- 31:52Carter walks in and she's like trying to push him off of her
- 31:55and he starts fighting him and they take the tussle up the
- 31:59stairs. Yeah, I didn't even think of
- 32:02that, but they they go upstairs instead of like down.
- 32:07That's fine. And he's just like whaling on
- 32:08him and he like runs off. No, I'm saying.
- 32:12Yeah, so he runs out into the woods and he goes to go.
- 32:15Oh, there was like one point, though, because, like, he's
- 32:17bleeding and Beth tries to give him like, oh, yeah, like, clean
- 32:20up. He goes.
- 32:21I don't need this. Yeah, he like, he slaps over and
- 32:24he's like, get that shit away from me.
- 32:29I wish that they would have done more between the two of them.
- 32:31I know because that was so funny just seeing him just like hate
- 32:34her for no reason. I get that it made sense to kill
- 32:37him off early because it probably is easier to.
- 32:40Direct a director. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:42Yeah, I would have loved to see more seeds and stuff.
- 32:44Shit outta here. So he goes out and he's peeing
- 32:47by a tree, and then he gets shot by some arrows.
- 32:52We could holler. Putin and hollering and he goes
- 32:56running and he thinks he's safe. And then you know what?
- 32:59What happens? Shot in the Dick.
- 33:02Shot in the Dick. And it was not still standing
- 33:05because? It was not still.
- 33:06Standing, he takes it, takes the arrow and twists it.
- 33:10Yeah, inside there. So he's dead.
- 33:13He did. He got on.
- 33:15We get more animal sounds the next morning and Sarah and Grant
- 33:19are cuddling. Maybe a little morning sex.
- 33:23Definitely morning sex. She gets on top of them and no,
- 33:25they're definitely having sex right there.
- 33:27They walk into the Oh, is that what?
- 33:30Sex looks like I think so. OK.
- 33:32I don't know, They walk into the kitchen as Danny's like cutting
- 33:36bread and saying I feel like Sarah doesn't want me here.
- 33:40Yeah, so Grant is really insistent on tossing football
- 33:44and. The radio on the back is like,
- 33:48it just feels like a really contrived reason to leave the
- 33:50house. I mean, who's tossing a football
- 33:52in the woods? Yeah, and then it actually cuts
- 33:55to them outside tossing football and it's like a news chopper,
- 33:57like doing the camera shines like, Yep, here they are out
- 34:00here playing football for no goddamn reason.
- 34:04I wonder, I have to wonder if that was like inspired by the
- 34:08Room. When they're.
- 34:10Man, remember, they're all trying on their taxes and they
- 34:12go out into the alley to throw some football.
- 34:15Yeah. But yeah, yeah, in that movie,
- 34:18it didn't make sense for them to go outside because they
- 34:20immediately go back inside. Sarah pulls Grant to the side
- 34:26and she says she's worried about Jake Scene ever came back and
- 34:28he's like, well yeah, he got the shit beat out of him by Carter.
- 34:30He's probably embarrassed. Danny wonders to great to Carter
- 34:35if Grant and Sarah are a good match.
- 34:37And he's like, what are you talking about?
- 34:38They're both white. They both got hair perfectly
- 34:44perfect. Yeah.
- 34:46So later that night, they're playing cards and the radio says
- 34:50that, oh, this scene looks like it's probably going to be like
- 34:53some sort of filler scene about character development.
- 34:57Yeah, Trish is trying to get some strip cards going on, so
- 35:01they started doing that. Beth makes a cake but she can't
- 35:06eat it because she's diabetic, so she's like, it's a really
- 35:09delicious cake. Though Grant goes to get Walter
- 35:12to look for Jay. Why did he wait until it's dark
- 35:14to go look up for Jay? Well, he said to Sarah earlier,
- 35:17he's like, OK, here's the thing, if he's not back by night, then
- 35:20I'll go get him. So I guess they're like giving
- 35:21him some time. Yeah, but it also just seems
- 35:24like not a great time to look for a person.
- 35:26I agree. Yeah, it's kind of weird.
- 35:30So this is where we get the monkey sound.
- 35:34I love it. And Danny has followed him and
- 35:36scares him. Walt answers the door with a
- 35:39crossbow. Uh oh, Uh oh.
- 35:42Remember how Jay died? Yeah.
- 35:46So Carter and Trish are having sex with the copter.
- 35:50Narration happening. And actually they say, like on
- 35:55this note, we're gonna go out and we'll continue our coverage
- 35:58in the morning, which in movie time will be about 15 minutes
- 36:01right now. Yeah, so they are.
- 36:05They're out there having sex. Danny followed Clayton to go get
- 36:09the. You said that.
- 36:10Yes, I'm sorry. So.
- 36:12OK, they are so Beth. Cuts Beth cuts her fingers.
- 36:17She's washing the dishes from where she made the cake and she
- 36:20cuts her finger and she's bleeding a lot, and Sarah passes
- 36:23out at the sight of blood. Then the lights go out, so
- 36:27Carter's like, I'm going to go outside to investigate.
- 36:30There's nothing, but Tricia's annoyed that he left in the
- 36:33middle of sex so she's throwing a fit and going to the bathroom.
- 36:39Beth gets Sarah up by like just slapping the shit out of her
- 36:42face and you can see the actress trying not to break if she's
- 36:46having her face. Just Sarah.
- 36:48Sarah, Sarah. Sarah.
- 36:49Sarah. It happens twice in this movie
- 36:52too. Sarah.
- 36:54Sarah. Sarah So Walter falls as they're
- 37:01looking for Jay, and he just kind of disappears.
- 37:04Yeah, it's not even really a hill.
- 37:06Yeah, like, he just, he falls and he's down.
- 37:08Yeah. Trish is killed in the shower.
- 37:11She slipped right across the throat.
- 37:14Walter reappears and he has hurt his ankle.
- 37:17But Danny has disappeared by this point.
- 37:19So Grant's like, hey, we can go back to the cabin, but we got to
- 37:22find Danny. And Walter's like, no, no, she's
- 37:24fine. She's fine.
- 37:25She probably went back. She's smart.
- 37:26Yeah. Maybe agrees with that.
- 37:28He's like, OK, cool, yeah, yeah. So they go back.
- 37:31Beth goes down to the cellar, she gets the lights turned back
- 37:34on and Carter goes to look for Trish, but the bathroom has been
- 37:38cleaned and emptied, so it's all good.
- 37:41And as he's looking around, this is on the radio singing the song
- 37:43about Trish definitely being dead.
- 37:46Oh yeah, yeah, I forgot about that.
- 37:48Yeah. Danny and Grant are back at the
- 37:51cabin, but no one has seen Trish, so Carter goes out to
- 37:55look for And Grant wants to go like help Carter so that way he
- 37:59doesn't get lost in the dark. And Walter's like, if he goes
- 38:02out there tomorrow, you're going to be looking for three people
- 38:04instead of two. And Sarah, just, like, begs him
- 38:07not to go out there. She's like, please, this is
- 38:09supposed to be our time together.
- 38:10I love this because this is also First off, this is where he
- 38:14farts and goes. To sleep, yeah, we get like a
- 38:17bedtime montage of everybody. So Danny's doing the horny
- 38:20meditation yoga app. Yeah, we've.
- 38:23The one that I love the most is whenever it's just Carter
- 38:26sitting in the rocking chair in the living room quietly to keep
- 38:32it down. Beth does her insulin shot and
- 38:41Sarah and Grant argue in bed a little bit.
- 38:43They make up very quickly and as they roll over to cuddle, Grant
- 38:46farts. Live.
- 38:46Yeah. So funny.
- 38:48I love it. In the morning, Carter runs out
- 38:51and Grant follows him all the way to Walters.
- 38:54The girls are having some girl talk and Sarah's asking like if
- 38:58Danny has anyone special in her life, and when Danny's like, no,
- 39:02not for me. And then Sarah's like, OK, I'm
- 39:04going to cut the bullshit. Basically.
- 39:07I've seen the way you stare at Grant.
- 39:08What's up with that? She's like, nothing.
- 39:10It's not like that. So that's where I'm at on my
- 39:17page, sorry. No, you're good.
- 39:19So the power is that again? Yeah.
- 39:21And right before radio, the radio's like, oh, I know exactly
- 39:26who the murderer is. It's.
- 39:28And then the power goes out. Yeah.
- 39:29Yeah. So Beth goes back to the seller.
- 39:32This time Sarah does go with her.
- 39:33And when they get down there, they find Trish's body.
- 39:36They run upstairs and Beth is looking for Danny because they
- 39:39want to try and, like, gather up the people that they know are in
- 39:41the house. That way they can leave.
- 39:43And Sarah's like, we need to go for Grant.
- 39:45They're arguing, right everybody, and one of them
- 39:49shouts. Trish is dead.
- 39:50And right as she says that, Carter walks in.
- 39:53So he hears. That, but you missed the whole
- 39:55thing from before where they were out there in the woods
- 39:57looking for her and that's when he's like they Carter and Greg
- 40:01get into the fight. He's like, Oh yeah, well, she's
- 40:03no Trish and. He's like, you could say that
- 40:05again. Oh, yeah.
- 40:05Well, she's no Trish, is she? What you you can say that again.
- 40:10Well, she's no Trish, is she? Say it to my face.
- 40:14They got into a fight about I guess like Sarah or something.
- 40:18I don't really remember when it was exactly it started it.
- 40:21Yeah, it basically felt like you're not really in love with
- 40:24her just because she's a hot blonde and you guys have a lot
- 40:26of sex. Like he's trying to say that
- 40:27it's purely shallow. What I love about this is that
- 40:30it does seem like Carter and Trish are genuinely really into
- 40:33each other, but also just really horny.
- 40:35Yeah, it really does seem that. Way.
- 40:36And I love that for them, I do too.
- 40:40OK, so yeah, he comes back in and he finds out that Trish is
- 40:43said now. Yeah, so that's that's not
- 40:45great. Danny is also mad at Grant.
- 40:49She's like, you didn't even tell me that you were getting
- 40:50married. If Carter hadn't told me, would
- 40:52I have even been invited? Probably not because you are
- 40:56doing the thing that he was afraid of, I'm sure.
- 41:00So Carter goes to, I think he's at Walter's house, right?
- 41:04Yeah. He breaks into Mr. Quayden's
- 41:06house. He find he goes to the bathroom.
- 41:08At first he sees the phone and. This scene, this fucking scene
- 41:13was killing me. So he goes in the bathroom and
- 41:16Jay's body falls from behind the door and he like tries to set it
- 41:19up right. And it falls again.
- 41:22It feels very much like in a slumber party massacre, that one
- 41:25girl that's in the fridge, like her body just keeps falling out.
- 41:29Yeah, he does it like three times or just keeps putting him
- 41:32back. Beth hits Grant with a bat like
- 41:38cuz her and Sarah are hidden up in a room and when Grant comes
- 41:41in she hits him with a bat and Danny follows and they.
- 41:48She Beth, flips out about the whole situation.
- 41:50She wants to go. They don't want.
- 41:51They want to wait for Carter to get back.
- 41:54So she goes and locks herself up in the bedroom.
- 41:57Yeah, Carter comes back and he wants to see Trish's body.
- 42:00And when he finds her, he brings her upstairs.
- 42:02She's like, wrapped in a tarp. And on the radio they're saying
- 42:05that like there's been a recall on blue tarps.
- 42:07You should not wrap the body of your loved one in it or keep it
- 42:11near your person at any cost. Beth.
- 42:16This is where she locks. Herself, yes, she she's like
- 42:18kind of getting real antsy and I think this is actually like
- 42:21really well done writing 'cause it's you know, you got all the
- 42:24commotion going on from the murderer.
- 42:25But like, if she is behind on her shot or if her blood Sugar's
- 42:28wacky like that, actually, a lot of people don't understand what
- 42:32it looks like when people are having like diabetic like
- 42:36emergencies. And I think some of that's
- 42:38what's happening. So after she freaks out, she
- 42:41breaks a lamp, she goes up to her room and her watch goes off
- 42:45and she's like, OK, I need to take my shot.
- 42:48And as she's doing it, Sarah and Grant are like knocking on the
- 42:51door trying to get her to open up, come back out.
- 42:53And Grant's like, but she is going to pay for that lamp
- 42:56though, right? Like I can't afford for my
- 42:58Airbnb score. Yeah, you're just going to fuck
- 43:00with my Airbnb score. She doesn't pay for that.
- 43:02You're you're totally paying for it.
- 43:04Yeah. It's like all muffled because
- 43:06she's having her experience and she gives herself her shot and
- 43:09things kind of go back to normal for a second and then she
- 43:12becomes possessed. Yeah, she's.
- 43:15Like seizing. Yeah, and they're finally able
- 43:18to break in, but it's too late and she dies.
- 43:23So Grant, Sarah and Danny run out of the cabin.
- 43:26Their car tires have been slashed, so they tried to use
- 43:29Jay's car, but it is not starting.
- 43:32Carter runs out with an axe 'cause he's going to go attack
- 43:35Walter. Grant stops him.
- 43:36He's like, hey, let let's not just assume he did this.
- 43:40He's like, he obviously did this.
- 43:41That's where I found Jay's body. Like he's the outsider of all of
- 43:45this. Danny pops the hood so that way
- 43:48they can try and get the car to start and that's where they find
- 43:51old man Walt's head in the hood. Yeah, so they go back inside the
- 43:57cabin. There's still no service in this
- 44:00horror movie. The line is out at Walter's
- 44:02house, so Carter suggests putting Jay's tires on Grant's
- 44:06car and Trisha's. Trisha's feet twitch on the
- 44:13couch and Sarah starts freaking out.
- 44:15She's like, Oh my God, she's alive.
- 44:16She's still alive. And they're like, no, that's not
- 44:18like bodies just do this sometimes.
- 44:19It's like the gas is escaping. And she goes, no, she's still
- 44:22alive. I saw her feet twitch.
- 44:24There we go, it happened. Once an episode and Danny's
- 44:28like, she's not alive. Oh hey Trish, if you're alive,
- 44:31tell me if you feel this and she just starts punching Trisha's
- 44:33body. Carter's just like.
- 44:36Watching Yeah so they they agree to move the body out of the room
- 44:44so Grant and Danny take the body and move it to one of.
- 44:46The bedrooms and when they do that, Danny is like, this is not
- 44:50supposed to be how this goes and she's crying and she's freaking
- 44:53out and then she kisses Grant and Grant kisses back and Sarah
- 45:00sees his. I really wish because they had a
- 45:02moment like where we see Sarah seeing it and then like they
- 45:05kiss again and I really hoped that she would keep getting
- 45:08closer and like gasping like every.
- 45:10Time. That would have been funny.
- 45:11Yeah. Yeah.
- 45:13But they she breaks it up. She storms off crying.
- 45:17Grant goes to follow. And then Danny's like, wait, I
- 45:20love you. And then Grant's like, I'm
- 45:22sorry, I gotta go. So he leaves.
- 45:24Carter goes outside by himself to switch the tires, 'cause he
- 45:27was like, I'm going to do something, and of course it
- 45:29starts raining and so he's working on getting the tire off
- 45:34and he's got it, the car jacked up.
- 45:37He drops a nut and he reaches under the car to get it and Jack
- 45:44falls down, but it doesn't, it doesn't hit him, he's fine.
- 45:48He breathes a sigh of relief right before his arm gets
- 45:50chopped off with a neck. Yeah.
- 45:52He looks up and he sees a woman. He says you bitch.
- 45:56And then we see Danny and Sarah are both out there and they
- 46:02start fighting and Danny chases Sarah into the house and so they
- 46:06fight some. Sarah ends up stabbing Danny
- 46:12into the ribs so that way she can run upstairs, but Danny
- 46:14catches up to her and beats the ever loving fuck.
- 46:17Out. Holy shit.
- 46:18Yeah, this right here. Banging her head on all the
- 46:21surfaces over and over again. She is fucked, yeah, and then
- 46:25she's about to get the killing blow, but then Grant comes in
- 46:27and tackles her off of Sarah. And you know what?
- 46:30You know what ends up killing Danny?
- 46:32You guys a Halloween 6 God damn wall.
- 46:36Spike a wall. Spike strikes back.
- 46:38It's it's undefeated. I made fun of you in that
- 46:43episode and I've had to eat crows so many times since then.
- 46:46Wall spikes are more common than I realized.
- 46:48They're just and they're very deadly.
- 46:50Yeah, very, very deadly. Don't go flying in their
- 46:52direction. You will be killed.
- 46:54Yeah, that's exactly what happened to her.
- 46:56What the fuck was her whole spike?
- 46:59That's always a question too. Why are they always there?
- 47:04So yeah, the next morning the tow trucks are trying to get it.
- 47:09We don't have any cops, we just have tow trucks.
- 47:11Is it tow trucks? I thought it was like the
- 47:13garbage collectors. No, it was tow trucks.
- 47:15And they're just like making really loud inappropriate jokes
- 47:18as Grant and Sarah are just kind of looking shell shocked and
- 47:22they're about to leave and she's like, I need to go get my
- 47:24jacket. And then this is where we see
- 47:27flashback to she was actually the one that committed all of
- 47:29the murders because in some way or another, she thought
- 47:32everybody was like disrespecting their.
- 47:34Their love, yeah. So that's it.
- 47:38Yeah, that's how it ends. That really is just it.
- 47:41Yeah. OK.
- 47:42OK, I still think it's an 8 1/2. I think this movie is really
- 47:45funny. It's a really good time and I
- 47:47really hope there's a fucking sequel.
- 47:49Also too, especially with its new found.
- 47:52Yes. Whatever this is, I hope it does
- 47:54well. I mean, it's too soon to say if
- 47:56it's a success, but. Yeah, there's apparently a watch
- 47:58party going on on Blue Sky at the same time we were.
- 48:00Watching I know I that was like, Oh my God, that was so funny.
- 48:03It was the group that like. Yeah, like by Benjamin.
- 48:06Yeah, they usually do like the online they they have so many
- 48:09different ones like every single night.
- 48:10But yeah, I'm I'm glad. I hope this movie does well.
- 48:14I'm gonna I'll bump mine to 7 1/2.
- 48:17Yes, yeah, this is a fun movie. So that brings our new average
- 48:21to I can't drop my voice very low.
- 48:24No. Well, his is also digitally
- 48:26augmented, that's true, yeah. Thanks for timing.
- 48:28You feel better, babe. Yeah.
- 48:32So I guess a change. Yeah.
- 48:34What's a change that you would make?
- 48:38Well, I that's tough. What would it take for you to
- 48:50bump the score even more? Bump it some more.
- 48:53Yeah, OK. What would give another half
- 48:56point? That's tough man.
- 49:03That's really tough to say cuz this is like I said before, this
- 49:07is one of those movies that I mean it's exactly what I thought
- 49:09it was. Yeah.
- 49:10So like maybe it for me, it's peak potential is 7 1/2, but you
- 49:17know, for the sake of saying something for at least giving it
- 49:21some critique. I do think shooting it
- 49:24differently could have been interesting.
- 49:25Like it felt very basic. I think with the winds of a
- 49:30horror movie, like a more cuz like see, The thing is like I, I
- 49:34see all of these low budget movies all the time have really
- 49:39interesting shots. So it's definitely doable.
- 49:44I think you just need to get like a good director of
- 49:47photography for this right here. I would love to see what he
- 49:50could do with the sequel. I would too, yeah.
- 49:52It, it feels like he's kind of like he's got a good sense of
- 49:55himself and it's been, in our theory, it's been 9 years since
- 50:00he first shot this. Yeah, also, I really would have
- 50:03liked to have had the chemistry of Jay and Death.
- 50:08That was so fucking funny. Like everything that happened
- 50:11between them. I was really, really like,
- 50:13laughing at that. Yes, that was good.
- 50:16And also just pump up the fucking like, I, I don't know,
- 50:19it's really hard for me to criticize the radio commentary
- 50:22that's going on because the fact that it's there in the 1st place
- 50:24is awesome. I like that.
- 50:25It's like I. Also do like that too.
- 50:27Like we kind of like to. Each other, yeah.
- 50:29That's funny. And then it kept happening and
- 50:31you're like, are you hearing? You know what?
- 50:32You're right. That's the best way to do that
- 50:34right there. Yeah.
- 50:36So, yeah, those are really the only things I would say that I
- 50:38would change. And they're like, really?
- 50:41That's not asking a lot. This movie was really good as it
- 50:45is all. Right, I've got a very important
- 50:47question for you. OK.
- 50:49What was Scout's favorite part? I think Scout's favorite part
- 50:54was when they were fighting because that's exactly when
- 50:59Scout went over and started fighting Zoe.
- 51:03That's a good guess, but no, obviously her favorite part was
- 51:09all of the showering. Oh, the showering, Yeah.
- 51:12The Steam, Yeah, Yeah, that's a good point.
- 51:17OK. Who did you relate to?
- 51:21That's a good question. I know, that's why I asked it.
- 51:35That's tough, man. OK, well I'll tell mine while
- 51:40you think. No, OK, I got it, Carter.
- 51:44OK, bye. Because I genuinely love you.
- 51:48And, you know, I, I thought he was a fun character.
- 51:51He was like a good guy. I.
- 51:53Did love his character. Yeah, I love you.
- 51:55So I guess that makes sense that you would relate to Carter.
- 51:57Also, I like this idea at the end though, like switched to
- 52:00tires. I don't give a fuck if it's
- 52:01different size tires. Like if I'm fucking on my car
- 52:04getting out of there, I'm getting the fuck out of there,
- 52:06you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
- 52:08Alice is like, I would take the axe and I would try and go after
- 52:10Mr. Clayton 'cause I would fucking think Mr. Clayton's
- 52:12doing the exact same thing too. OK, Yeah, I just, his approach
- 52:16to everything in this movie is how I feel.
- 52:19Like I would maybe handle some of those things.
- 52:24I really did to Beth, 'cause I feel like I'm kind of a Comic
- 52:27Relief character in general and I have weird commentary and
- 52:30facial expressions. So you also drink out of a
- 52:34bottle exactly like that. Champagne with my tongue.
- 52:38That's how the French do it. Aw, that French?
- 52:42Yeah, you do. No lie, everybody.
- 52:48OK, dream sequel. OK.
- 52:51I would love, I would love for them to do like call it like one
- 52:56more like Cabin in the woods, maybe something like that, keep
- 53:01a kind of theme like that. And I would love to see them do
- 53:05like like their bag of the woods.
- 53:11I don't know what kind. I honestly, I wouldn't hate it
- 53:14if they brought back the same cast and did kind of like an
- 53:16Evil Dead 2, you know? Where they just kind of recap
- 53:21the first one in the 1st 10. Minutes.
- 53:22Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I guess you could maybe
- 53:26bring some of the people back because like they, they touched
- 53:28on the possession thing with Beth there at the end, like
- 53:30maybe she comes back as a dead type thing.
- 53:33I don't think she was possessed. Her eyes.
- 53:36You don't think she was possessed?
- 53:37I think. I think.
- 53:38She just I think. That's I thought that that's
- 53:40what they were hinting at with what killed Mr. Clayton's wife.
- 53:45It was the same thing. She she was overtaken by
- 53:48something and died suddenly. I think that her.
- 53:51The insulin shot didn't help She.
- 53:53I don't. I think her meds were messed
- 53:55with dude. You think so?
- 53:56Yeah, and I think her eyes turning red was like.
- 53:59Oh, I didn't even think of that. I thought that she, I thought it
- 54:03was the thing that Mister Clayton was talking about, where
- 54:05his wife got possessed. No.
- 54:09We'll. Make it.
- 54:09They also had cancer and cancer patients tend to have like when
- 54:13they're near death, like they tend to have like very severe
- 54:16hallucinations. Shit, man, OK, never mind.
- 54:20I guess there's no possession going on in this movie.
- 54:22We can have possession in the sequel.
- 54:24No, no, no, not happening. It's our dream sequel, babe.
- 54:28If you want to do it, we can do it.
- 54:33I do like your idea of doing like an Evil Dead 2 type.
- 54:36Yeah, that is kind of fun. And then that way we could have
- 54:39the chance to bring some of them back and get some of those
- 54:41moments we didn't get to. Have well, I think that that
- 54:43would be fitting because it would also be a good way of
- 54:46handling their new age because you said you looked at some of
- 54:50these actors profiles. Cuz I was pulling them up and I
- 54:53was like, Dwayne still looks like he's still a very beautiful
- 54:57human being, but he's obviously much older than he was.
- 54:59He said you saw some grey, right?
- 55:01Yeah, yeah. Nothing wrong with it.
- 55:03It's just a reality. Yeah. 10 years later.
- 55:05Like he looked very dignified with it, Yeah.
- 55:07These characters, they're older. I think that would be a great
- 55:10way to handle that, right? There.
- 55:13Or like they're just there for Sarah and Grant's anniversary
- 55:16and we just don't address the fact that they all died.
- 55:19Oh my God, I like that a lot. Yeah, same cabin.
- 55:23Yes, OK. And they're like, how this looks
- 55:25really familiar. Yeah.
- 55:27And the radio can be saying something about new studies are
- 55:31showing that Airbnb's are wiping people's memories and bringing
- 55:35people. Back to.
- 55:36Life. That's fun all.
- 55:39Right Joe, if you if you want our help riding and making this.
- 55:45We got a pitch. Yeah, we got one right there for
- 55:47you. So, you know, let me make sure
- 55:48he isn't. I've been checking.
- 55:50Yeah, well, actually there's been some things here.
- 55:52No, he didn't. OK.
- 55:54So sad. Yeah, OK, so I do have a review
- 55:59now. I know normally for two beer not
- 56:00to be we pull like 1 high 1 low. You only had one, didn't you?
- 56:04There were three to pick from OK and the lowest one was a 5 OK.
- 56:08But it was a very positive review with A5 rating so I just
- 56:11kinda wanna read that cuz this is a really well written review.
- 56:14That's fair. So OK, let me pull that up real
- 56:17quick. Here we go, you know how it
- 56:24goes. You sit down for some popcorn,
- 56:26ready for a nice mindless horror movie.
- 56:28But instead you get another film trying to lecture you about the
- 56:30dangers of social media, climate change, or why we should all eat
- 56:33more kale. But not this time.
- 56:35Cabin of Laughs, or whatever this drum was called, surprised
- 56:37me by doing exactly what I wanted it to do, providing a
- 56:41blissful escape from reality. No hidden agenda, no moral high
- 56:44ground, just pure comedy, horror, goodness.
- 56:46And honestly, it felt like finding a perfectly ripe avocado
- 56:49at the grocery store. Rare, unexpected, and strangely
- 56:52satisfying. I'm gonna argue with the fact
- 56:54that finding a ripe avocado is not strangely satisfying.
- 56:57It's amazing. Is it, is it rare?
- 56:59Yeah. Yeah, it's dude, if you, if you
- 57:04think about an avocado too long, it will go bad.
- 57:06Gross. It's it's a rough, it's a rough
- 57:11produce to really love so. Well, I I'm glad that that's a
- 57:15compliment to this movie then. Yes, yes, OK.
- 57:20Yeah, I agree. I mean this very upfront with
- 57:22what it is and it delivers 100% on what it says it is.
- 57:27Yeah, it is nice, Yeah. I I think it was just, it was
- 57:32really fun. It was a really fun time.
- 57:34It did exactly what I wanted it to do based off the trailer and
- 57:38that made me really happy. It didn't go on for too long.
- 57:42It was exactly as it long, as long as it needed to be to get
- 57:46this point across it. Honestly, I can't have any
- 57:49complaints about it because it did everything that I've always
- 57:51asked these movies to do. Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
- 57:54I had a great time with this one.
- 57:56Absolutely. OK, hold on.
- 57:59I got to do it the right way, Titular question, Travis.
- 58:04To be or not to be? I say to be do it, do it.
- 58:11People watch this movie? We will watch it again.
- 58:14We will recommend it to everybody.
- 58:17It's a good time. It's for free.
- 58:19Oh, free. It's for free.
- 58:20Yeah. So go enjoy it.
- 58:24Yeah, it's great. Give it a shot, you know?
- 58:25If you're looking at I mean if you just want something dumb
- 58:28fun, this is exactly it right here.
- 58:30Don't go into this thing if you want something like a
- 58:32legitimately like good horror movie.
- 58:34It's. Kind of like what we talked
- 58:34about with Dubro Party Massacre 3.
- 58:36Like it's dumb humor, but it's like smartly done dumb humor
- 58:39like you have. This is even Dumber.
- 58:40Yeah, you have to be smart to do this type of humor in a way that
- 58:43it doesn't just feel like. In a way, this is kind of like
- 58:46Scary Movie with the way it approaches humor and how it
- 58:49handles like it carries itself. But it it's not like a parody of
- 58:53very I miss other movies. It's just a parody of itself.
- 58:57And that's what I mean. Like I it feels very like
- 58:59nationally impotent to me, almost.
- 59:01Yeah, yeah. That's.
- 59:02True. Like that's that's the sense I
- 59:04get from. Yeah, exactly.
- 59:05Yeah. Yeah.
- 59:06A traditional parody movie. I.
- 59:07Suppose. Yes, yeah, like.
- 59:09Rock'n'roll High School, like that kind of that's that is the

- 1:01:19Just go listen to it and we have a whole thing.
- 1:01:21Oh my God. I'll let you read it since you
- 1:01:24were the one that messaged him. OK, OK.
- 1:01:27Wait hold on, how about I edit I just slapped this in to our to
- 1:01:32be or not to be? OK OK yeah here's what I sent to
- 1:01:36Joe last night. Joe Vandelli.
- 1:01:39Hi, we just watched another Cabin in the Woods movie and
- 1:01:42have to say amazing. Your sense of humor and
- 1:01:44understanding of the tropes is absolutely on point.
- 1:01:46Please make a sequel. I'm sorry this if this is a wild
- 1:01:49question. I was going through IMDb to look
- 1:01:50up the cast and noticed they were all also listed for Cabin
- 1:01:53Fear which has a very similar presence and unless IMDb was
- 1:01:56bugging identical still shots. Was was the movie credited or
- 1:02:02what was the story with that? I meant to say was the movie re
- 1:02:05edited or what was the story with that?
- 1:02:08I'm massively curious because we had such a fun time with another
- 1:02:11cabin in the woods movie and just wanted to understand its
- 1:02:13origins. He said thank you for the kind
- 1:02:16words. When I made this film I lost my
- 1:02:18final cut on the film and a distributor bought it and cut
- 1:02:21out all the comedy and made it. That's cabin fear.
- 1:02:23As soon as I could buy the rides back I did and then cut the film
- 1:02:26the way I wrote it which is another cabin in the woods
- 1:02:29movie. So this is the movie he wanted
- 1:02:31all. Along the.
- 1:02:32Distributor took away the humor in the 1st.
- 1:02:35One that makes a lot. Of sense I love this he got his
- 1:02:38actual like actual version of what he wanted.
- 1:02:42All right, we're gonna reply and just say we just recorded an
- 1:02:45episode about it. We're gonna, we spoke very
- 1:02:47fondly and we're gonna include this message so people know yes.
- 1:02:50Yes, we'll we'll answer that in a minute.
- 1:02:52Later. Yeah.
- 1:02:52All right, that's so cool that we got that answer.
- 1:02:54OK, so neither of our theories was actually correct, but I'm
- 1:02:58that makes me so glad to know that this was that the version
- 1:03:01we got was his actual. Vision.
- 1:03:03Yeah, for sure. That's so cool.
- 1:03:05I'm so glad that we actually got that answer just in time.
- 1:03:08Oh man.
