- 0:59Well, it's better than chafing down in downtown San Diego.
- 1:03I had to buy that cream and rub it on my balls in the bathroom.
- 1:07Outside of the. Outside of the CVS.
- 1:10You just get a, you just get a handful of cornstarch and just

- 1:34Bad. Why?
- 1:34I don't know why. I don't know why we would give
- 1:37that waste of time any amount of attention.
- 1:41I, I, you know, I agree. I just it was it's something.
- 1:47The Pedo Bowl. Yeah, the the, the cigarette
- 1:50bowl, we were calling it. Cigarette.
- 1:52Yeah, you were calling it a cigarette bowl.
- 1:54Yes I was. I said Kid Rock.
- 1:56Looks like 1/2 put out smoke. He he beseech the name of
- 1:59marbles, and that. I'm so sorry.
- 2:02I should have called him a Paul Mall.
- 2:03You are so right. He's a Paul Mall.
- 2:07Yunk yuck. What's the other one?
- 2:10What's the other cigarette? It has like the parliament.
- 2:13I like parliaments. Parliaments are bad.
- 2:17I like. Parliament don't smoke, kids.
- 2:19Don't do it because then you get hooked on vape because your your
- 2:23soul, the false promise that this is going to help you quit
- 2:27because it it's just will. And if you're just going to get
- 2:30hooked, don't do it. They tell you that it's safer,
- 2:32but it's not, and then you're craving a Breeze Pro Mint.
- 2:36Oh, I'm sucking these things down like it's my job, brother.

- 2:59festival? And I explained it to her and
- 3:02then she told her friends and they went, huh?
- 3:05And then she explained to them. They went OK.
- 3:09At a certain point, if I have to explain what frog manifest is 3
- 3:12times, you just don't need to know.
- 3:15No, I'm also kind of, it's not mental, it's.
- 3:16Self-explanatory, I feel like. It's a Cryptid thing dude, you
- 3:21wouldn't get it. You don't take these things
- 3:23literally. Woodstock was not about.
- 3:25Wood No. Frog Manifest is about the
- 3:29experience we're going to have at Frog Man Festival and it's
- 3:35about it's about the frogs would be along the.

- 4:42wasdbeyond@gmail.com. If you want to discuss this
- 4:47movie with us, Alex, it's your wink buddy of.
- 4:51This week it's it's an old classic from 1982.
- 4:59What I believe I read I chose the slumber party massacre.
- 5:04It's been a minute. It has been a hot minute.
- 5:09I think I've maybe this is like the third time I've ever seen
- 5:11this movie. When When did you see it the
- 5:14first time? The first time at a sleepover.
- 5:18Funny enough, The the the. Mom, party of your own.
- 5:22The mom rented it for all the kids thinking it was like
- 5:25related to Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 5:29I literally remember this 'cause I was like, they put it on.
- 5:31I'm like, this is not Texas Chainsaw related at all.
- 5:35Nope, not the slightest. I think they just went with it
- 5:38because it said Massacre and like the horror movie Sleepover,
- 5:41that's what you did as kids. I don't know.
- 5:44I I remember I got this because my Nini, my grandmother, my
- 5:50beautiful grandmother, she was watching us and she took us to
- 5:53Blockbuster and she was like the cool grandma and she'd always
- 5:58get me the bad things. That's all I got my first Spawn
- 6:01VHS, they animated series from HBO and she took us and I picked
- 6:06this movie out at a very young age and I went, it's fine.
- 6:10She went and then I watched it and it was a lot of the blood,
- 6:14boobs, guts and awesome violence.
- 6:16It is that's my first experience.
- 6:18I was like. 9 Minimal minimal swearing.
- 6:21Not a lot of swearing at all. But everything.
- 6:24Else. But it has everything else under
- 6:29the moon I. Don't think I don't think you
- 6:32really need if you're doing everything else.
- 6:34I don't think you really like need cussing and things like
- 6:41that in the movie, like the movie it it it's offensive as is
- 6:45true. That's I mean Noah point out he
- 6:48goes wait a minute. These girls are literally being
- 6:50portrayed as high schoolers and we're seeing well.
- 6:53Yeah, that's just. You know, you know, it's, it's
- 6:55offensive as is. As fucked up as it is, but that
- 6:59was just what slasher movies were.
- 7:02In the 80s, especially in the 80s.
- 7:04Just high school teenagers getting whacked.
- 7:09Yes. So that's that's this movie to a
- 7:13tee. There's no messing around.
- 7:15There's no like deep story elements.
- 7:18It's just just teens getting getting murdered by a gay by
- 7:23just some guy. There's like not even really a
- 7:26setup for the killer, which I thought was interesting.
- 7:29He's not even hidden. Yeah, I thought it was going to
- 7:31be someone introduced in the beginning, the neighbor guy, but
- 7:36it wasn't him. It was just like some random
- 7:38dude. Yeah big time.
- 7:41Just some random dude who you see like the 1st 10 minutes as
- 7:43well. And that's, you know, that's
- 7:45accurate to like real world serial killers.
- 7:48Like they weren't always some known person.
- 7:51It was like just some guy. A prowler, Yeah.
- 7:54Yeah. Well, look at Tuck and Ramirez
- 7:57Bundy, those dudes like that, they would just cruise around
- 8:01like, oh, they're they're I'm, I'm I'm going to kill that group
- 8:03of people right there because I can't, you know, don't know.
- 8:06I have no attachment to them. But I mean, fuck yeah, though
- 8:10this movie goes, there's no guffins.
- 8:12It's just like, boom, we're in. But there's a, there's a little
- 8:15bit of like hijinks, you know, But I feel like you got to have
- 8:18that. Yeah, you have to.
- 8:21You had. The boys at the slumber party
- 8:24spying on the girls. I was going to say you have to
- 8:27have a bit of that like teen ignorance and innocence
- 8:31revolving around like, my parents are gone for the
- 8:34weekend. We're not throwing a party, but
- 8:35we're having a slumber party with the girls.
- 8:38And then one girl's like, well, let's get our boyfriends over
- 8:40here. He, he, he, he, he and the one
- 8:42girl's like, well, me and him aren't going steady too much,
- 8:44but we might be. He, he, he, and then that all
- 8:47happens. That is the part of this movie I
- 8:49do enjoy. It's like I enjoy all this
- 8:51movie, honestly. But I do like the like, OK, this
- 8:53is teenagers being teenagers. They're just dumb.
- 8:57This this seedless Maui wowi. That's the fucking weed dude.
- 9:01The seedless Maui wowi. No stems.
- 9:04No. Stems that is a big deal though
- 9:07let's be let's be straight that they that used to be a big deal.
- 9:11Props to the neighbor. Bring in props to the neighbor
- 9:13for not being a narc. Yes, yeah, yes.
- 9:16Cool guy and neighbor. Do you want to kind of give the
- 9:20audience a little bit of? What this is?
- 9:23It's just it's how many one. There's like. 66 high school is
- 9:35it is it just all the is that including the guys?
- 9:38Yeah, it's like a, it's like a a friend group.
- 9:42Well, it's. There's not really much to say
- 9:44about it. It's just a bunch of high school
- 9:46kids get fucking murdered overnight.
- 9:49There's really not. It's just straight to the point
- 9:52where in the movies someone dies, what, 10 minutes?
- 9:5615 minutes in. Yeah.
- 9:58Brutally, brutally as fuck in broad daylight and it just keeps
- 10:06going from there. People just keep dying from
- 10:08there on out all night. Even the pizza guy gets it dude.
- 10:13Pizza guy gets it in one of the worst ways.
- 10:16Yeah, get. Both of his eyes drilled out.
- 10:19Can we talk about that weapon? Because I find that weapon to be
- 10:23quite interesting and I like the fact that it's what's it called,
- 10:26an auger. I so I don't I don't think it's
- 10:29an auger. It's like a masonry drill
- 10:31because it's it's one that like looks like a small jackhammer
- 10:35with a big drill bit on the end of it.
- 10:37Yeah, he holds it like an auger. A few.
- 10:39Times which is that? They use that to like cut big
- 10:42holes in the ice for like fishing and stuff but.
- 10:45Oh, OK, yeah, this is definitely a masonry drill.
- 10:48Yeah, it's a unique. You don't see it for sure.
- 10:51There's a movie that is that it's called like drill bit or
- 10:54some shit like that where that's all it is, is like it's just
- 10:58that type of weapon. But I like this because of, you
- 11:00know, it being what this is, I find that interesting because it
- 11:04that this thing slices it dices, it drills, it does everything
- 11:07apparently in this movie, like, jeez, what can, what can't this
- 11:11do? But like attached to this
- 11:13killer, It's it's it's pretty funny because this guy is just
- 11:19incensed. Yeah, it's pretty limited when
- 11:24you learn about him, but he's definitely got like mental.
- 11:28I mean, obviously mentally something's gone wrong, but he
- 11:31has like a, like a simpleness to him.
- 11:34Like a simple Jack thing? Yeah.
- 11:36Yeah, when he's finally talks, he's got like a definitely a
- 11:40reduced capacity is a noggin type guy.
- 11:45His name is Russ, by the way. His name is Russ.
- 11:49Yeah, yeah, reduced capacity. Well, you know what I mean.
- 11:54He's not, he's not OK in the old, in the old Dome there,
- 11:58he's. Insane in the membrane.
- 12:01Yeah, make it insane. Got no brain?
- 12:04Got no brain. All he wanted was a Pepsi dude.
- 12:08They get him way back. He could have asked if he wanted
- 12:11a Pepsi and he didn't have to kill those six people brutally.
- 12:15If the piece of guy would have shared something with him, I
- 12:18think you know, but I mean, you know, I think he's I think this
- 12:24killer is interesting because you don't know shit about him.
- 12:26He's just a dude. He's going around fucking losing
- 12:29his shit. The weapon of choice here is
- 12:31just so bizarre and it's used in such cool ways, but it really
- 12:36is, and it's not really strictly just that weapon, but it's
- 12:38majority kills that weapon and it's like a signature kill too.
- 12:42It's like through the eyes, through the chest.
- 12:44It drills and pulls out this flesh with it and it it's cool
- 12:47man, but him himself, it's like, God, you are fucking creepy just
- 12:51because you don't say shit. He's just a.
- 12:56And you get the idea. Shit, it's creepy.
- 12:59Creepy as. Fuck.
- 13:01You get the idea that he's kind of around the whole time because
- 13:05you know, at the beginning when we see you're throwing away the
- 13:08box of toys, somebody takes the Barbie out and like, the
- 13:13implication is that it's the neighbor guy.
- 13:15That's what I thought. But that means, like, that dude
- 13:19was probably there for that, like to take the doll all the
- 13:24way back then like he would. This is clearly somebody who's
- 13:27like, meticulously planning this out.
- 13:31Yeah, I think he was like a stalker stalk stalker killer.
- 13:34That's what he pretty much does. Like a like predator prey type
- 13:37shit. You gotta wonder, like, is this
- 13:41his first? First time?
- 13:44Because he's got some little tricks.
- 13:47No, he's dead. Well, because in the beginning
- 13:50of the movie, there's definitely that one girl who's just been
- 13:52fucking mutilated in the van, just hanging out in the van.
- 13:56So this is like he's this is what he does until he's in at
- 13:59his match. Yeah.
- 14:02He's in, Yeah. It feels like.
- 14:03It feels like there's also no reason.
- 14:06It's like a sprinkler. He's doing it like he's just
- 14:08doing it for fun I guess. Like he's just doing it because
- 14:11he enjoys it. What, what do they say in last
- 14:14pod? The serial killers will go
- 14:16through. It's not just spree killing.
- 14:17It's like it's when you reach the height of your murders and
- 14:22you just can't stop. There's like a specific term for
- 14:26it and I forget what it is, but this is kind of what he is,
- 14:29where he's just like, this is what I do.
- 14:31I cannot stop. He just kills people.
- 14:34With. Like young women especially, it
- 14:36seems like men, they're just in the way.
- 14:37So it's ceremonious. But like the women, it's
- 14:41explained later on. Like, I just think you're so
- 14:43beautiful and this is the most beautiful thing I could show you
- 14:45that I would do for you. And it's like, no, man.
- 14:49Try again, Try something else. Flowers would be nice on.
- 14:52Valentine's Day, yeah, flowers start with that if that's what
- 14:57you're looking for. And then maybe you would just
- 14:59step it up a little bit from there.
- 15:03This says right here that his name is Russ Thorne and he is an
- 15:06escaped serial killer. They don't really touch that.
- 15:11Unless we missed like a radio beat.
- 15:13There is a thing when the one girl's listening to the radio in
- 15:16the morning where they mentioned that like a beach town was
- 15:19terrorized by a killer they're talking about.
- 15:23Yeah, we missed a beat. It's really that when I was, I
- 15:26was laughing when you were like, oh, would you win a T-shirt?
- 15:31I was laughing at that so. T-shirt Oh dude.
- 15:36KDED. So this movie was produced and
- 15:41directed by Amy Jones and written by Rita Brown, which I
- 15:48feel like that's a kind of a different hate 'cause like you
- 15:54don't really see old 80s slashes movies written directed by women
- 15:59and you. Know it's interesting for that
- 16:03like they, it doesn't really do anything different than other
- 16:08horror movies would do you know, they just really kind of
- 16:12followed the classic formula and it's like it's, it's good.
- 16:17You know, like sometimes like a movie like this is perfect for
- 16:21like a sleepover type thing or like to put on a like Halloween
- 16:24time 'cause there's no like plot really.
- 16:28It's just some some killings going on.
- 16:32It's, it's, it's really like, it's really tight and it's
- 16:34really clean. It's just eye candy at that
- 16:36point. The only thing that she does do
- 16:38differently is there are three survivors and they're all women.
- 16:42Oh yeah, I. Never.
- 16:43I never even really thought about the three survivors, but
- 16:45yeah, there's not. There's not really like a final
- 16:48girl. There's final girls and I I that
- 16:52I find that interesting because like the women obviously
- 16:55overpower this men. So there's a bit of like of of
- 16:59of a almost feminist vibe here, which isn't bad.
- 17:02I think it for the movie like this, it definitely helps with
- 17:05it. It's like, hey, no women could
- 17:07be bad ass like this too. Even if they're most of the
- 17:09movie, they're definitely helpless.
- 17:10And even towards the end killing this guy, it's like, man, you
- 17:14just got to take one good swing. Like, you got to stop just
- 17:17fucking layering this knife like that.
- 17:19Right fucking there. Just fucking finish it off.
- 17:22Oh, they had them too at that one point.
- 17:24Yeah, the baseball bat. And then like every fucking
- 17:27horror trope, they just fucking stop and escape, no.
- 17:31Well, nobody ever stops to make sure that they've.
- 17:33Actually just killed somebody. Because.
- 17:36You can tell when. They're dead.
- 17:37They don't want to know for sure.
- 17:39Yeah. I don't know.
- 17:42I feel like I want want to know if I was being terrorized by
- 17:44this guy though. I feel like if a bunch of my
- 17:47friends have been killed around me in the same way, I might be
- 17:52more willing. To do more harm to this person
- 17:55who's. Oh, I'm busting the cat.
- 17:57The one. No, you're there would be no
- 18:00facial recognition going on. Either that or I'm just going to
- 18:04like because the thing they do like, obviously it's, it's a
- 18:07horror movie. They have to.
- 18:08Do this. They like they'll hit him and
- 18:11he'll like go down or they'll push him in the pool and then
- 18:14they just like hang around. I'd be out of there, dude.
- 18:18It's time to go. Yeah, it's time to like.
- 18:20That's fine if you don't want to make sure he's dead, but leave
- 18:24like don't stick around to find out.
- 18:27The one the one sister yelled at her little sister run and she
- 18:31just hides under their couch. No, go out the door and beat all
- 18:37the way down the fucking St., she says.
- 18:39Run and then hides in the basement.
- 18:43So she just. Corners herself again.
- 18:45You're deeper in the house. She was kind of trapped between
- 18:49him and the front door. Well, dude, there's a back.
- 18:52Dude, there's more. True, there is a back door.
- 18:54There's other ways. Simply leave.
- 18:55Figure it out you. Simply leave.
- 18:57It's trophy, it's fun, it's goofy at times, the the violence
- 19:02is awesome and over the top. I mean, it's just a classic and
- 19:06this is a cult classic. Great effects too.
- 19:10Yep, Yep, cool. Very good effects.
- 19:13Some very cool things about Amy. What the fuck?
- 19:18I see her last name was Jones. Amy Holden Jones.
- 19:21She's done a lot of stuff that we've grown up watching.
- 19:25Really. Yeah, Beethoven.
- 19:28She wrote Beethoven. She was a writer on Beethoven.
- 19:31Wow. Really.
- 19:35Most recent The Resident TV show Editor Editor.
- 19:41That's a good one. Editor, producer, director and
- 19:44writer on that. Wow.
- 19:46What the fuck? That's.
- 19:48That's pretty good. What else you done?
- 19:53That's the you said it was the the patient.
- 19:56The Resident. Oh, the resident.
- 19:58OK, Yeah. That's the one about, isn't that
- 20:01the one about? That's the one with the guy
- 20:04who's the nurse. It's based on a true story, and
- 20:06it's this nurse who killed a bunch of people.
- 20:11Yeah, Yep. Yeah, Yeah.
- 20:15That's a good one. Yeah.
- 20:16Highly recommend that. She she got a big old list.
- 20:19That's sweet. But like, that's like
- 20:21Beethoven's wild. I would love to see it.
- 20:23Well that's so weird to go from this to Beethoven.
- 20:26Yeah. Was that like when was when did
- 20:28Beethoven come out? 92.
- 20:32So that's, I mean, it's possible it might have been the next.
- 20:34That's a 10 year gap. It wasn't the next, it wasn't
- 20:37the next. She had stuff in between I just
- 20:42created. You go from murdering to
- 20:46wholesome dog. Dog movie.
- 20:50That's a big old dog. I wonder if any lessons from
- 20:53Slumber Party massacre carried over Beethoven.
- 20:59I don't know dude, Beethoven's such a different obviously type
- 21:02of fucking. This movie This movie's budget
- 21:06was 220,000. And.
- 21:09Got 3.6 million in the box office.
- 21:12That's a whip. Wow, that's a, that's a, that's
- 21:15a big up cub, up cub. State winning out here.
- 21:19Did did she direct the sequels or I have anything to do with
- 21:23them? What about the remake Noah
- 21:24mentioned? The remake.
- 21:26No, I don't think she did the remake.
- 21:28She had no connection with any of it.
- 21:33Hold on. That's what I'm curious about,
- 21:35if she, you know, claimed her stake in the front.
- 21:37Really. She didn't even claim her stake
- 21:38in the franchise after that, no. Well, and also the this first
- 21:43original slumber party massacre was meant to be like like a
- 21:48whole trope, like it wasn't meant to be taken serious at
- 21:51all. And then he's they started
- 21:54taking it serious and make it into an actual like.
- 21:56Horror film. Yeah.
- 21:58Yeah. It's still for what it is.
- 22:00It's great. I I think this is obviously
- 22:03deserving of being a cult classic.
- 22:05It's a good time. It's just fun to watch.
- 22:09I, I don't watch this every year and, and I think I should watch
- 22:14it more often because it's just fun.
- 22:17It's just a great flick. So did you guys have anything
- 22:21else you wanted to say about Slimmer Party?
- 22:24No, go watch it. I don't think so.
- 22:25Yeah, just go watch it. It's a great, good, fun time.
- 22:29If you're hanging out with your friends, it's it's pretty brief.
- 22:32I guess hour hour 15, hour 20. Yeah, not very long.
- 22:36It's really lean. Like we said like.
- 22:39They really, they get right to it and.
- 22:42You know, some movies these days are a bit too.
- 22:45Long so I I. Three hours is egregious.
- 22:48Yeah. Review time Boys Ratings What?
- 22:55What do we got here? Who wants to start?
- 22:57I'll give it a a solid 4 out of five 'cause it's just it's a
- 23:03straight to the point horror movie slasher.
- 23:05Like you can't beat it. You get what you want.
- 23:08Yes. No.
- 23:10What? I'll also say.
- 23:12Four out of five, better than average, Really good.
- 23:18Just definitely worth a watch for anybody if you like a
- 23:20slasher. Absolutely a four out of five.
- 23:24This is a very strong foothold in the slasher genre.
- 23:28I think if you are getting into the slasher genre, you're kind
- 23:31of putting, you're placing your toes in the water of horror.
- 23:34I think this is a very good like jumping off point.
- 23:37If you've already, you know, gotten past your Freddie's and
- 23:40Jason's and Michael and all them.
- 23:43I think this is a great like I want to expand that, right, like
- 23:48slumber party massacre and like sleepaway camp and all of that
- 23:52are just great additions to the slasher genre and even like
- 23:56psychological sleepaway camp, right?
- 23:58So 4 out of five, this is called classic.
- 24:01It is a must watch if you are a horror nerd and you're or if
- 24:05you're new to horror. Like I said, if you're like
- 24:06younger trying to get into horror and you want somewhere to
- 24:08start, this is a great place. Like Noah.
- 24:11Noah said he's heard of this, but he's never seen it.
- 24:14Yeah, it's. Definitely one they sell.
- 24:16These T-shirts at like Walmart and shit.
- 24:18I mean, you know, the slumber. Party like serial killer is sort
- 24:21of a horror trope, but this one you definitely you see it
- 24:25around. Quite a bit.
- 24:26Yeah, yeah, good stuff. So 4 out of five from the IT
- 24:30came from Scream Box Boys on this one.
- 24:33That's right. Good stuff, boys.
