- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:11Happy New Year. Happy New Year.
- 0:13Welcome, 2026, unless you are one of our Patreon buddies
- 0:18bubbies and can listen early. I guess that also depends on how
- 0:22quickly Travis gets us edited this week.
- 0:24Yeah, but it's 2026. It's the new year.
- 0:27Welcome to What's Your Least Favorite Scary Movie?
- 0:29The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and
- 0:32the absurd, and all of our favorite.
- 0:33And least favorite scary movies? Because we believe every horror
- 0:36movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:37Even if we don't always get it. My name's Travis.
- 0:39My name's Jesse. And happy New Years again.
- 0:42Happy new fears, New fears, do you?
- 0:45Have a new fear? I have several.
- 0:48I find something to be afraid of, something new to be afraid
- 0:50of every day. New year, new fear.
- 0:52That's my New Year's resolution. Yeah, so we're talking about new
- 0:55Fears Eve. New movie that just came out is
- 0:59some buddies of ours that are film makers here in Kentucky.
- 1:03They finally got this movie release is out on screen box now
- 1:07and this is gonna be a cool one because we've got a nice little
- 1:11interview from them coming up here in the next little bit.
- 1:13Yeah, we actually got a chance to sit down and talk with PJ and
- 1:17Eric of Blood Moon Pictures, and we'll plug that in before we get
- 1:21to our discussion. We just have a couple of
- 1:22housekeeping items. We're gonna go over some of the
- 1:25background information and then they are human Fun facts this
- 1:28week on the episode. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:30And that saves us a lot of time and effort.
- 1:32We just got to talk to them and ask them questions.
- 1:34Wait, we heard it straight from them?
- 1:36Yeah. That's really cool.
- 1:37Yeah. You're getting it right from
- 1:38the, from the, the mouth of the people.
- 1:42I I was trying to find the expression but I I lost it.
- 1:46Straight from the horse's mouth. That's it.
- 1:48I almost said the mouth of God, but that's I knew that was not
- 1:52right. Expense PJ, but he doesn't need.
- 1:54To You're not God. Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm not.
- 1:57I'm not calling you all God. OK, so let's get into it then.
- 2:03New Fear's Eve released. Well, it premiered June 16th,
- 2:082024. We know that because we were
- 2:10there at the premiere in Owensboro, KY.
- 2:11Yep, in Owensboro, where the movie was made.
- 2:14And it released wide released December 16th, 2025 on Screen
- 2:19Box. We watched it on Prime because
- 2:22we just chose to rent it because we don't have a screen box
- 2:24subscription. Checked a little money towards
- 2:26the movie. Yeah, if you want streaming,
- 2:28it's got to be on screen box. Or if you want to rent it, you
- 2:30can do it on Google, Roku, Plex, Prime or Fandango.
- 2:34At Home. Written by PJ Starks.
- 2:37Directed by Eric Huskisson and PJ Starks.
- 2:40Music by Fred Dramani and special effects makeup by
- 2:43Stephen Hodge and Rob Collins. Starring Lily Claire Harvey as
- 2:48Leslie Starks, Turner Vaughn as Brian Storm, Matthew Tensioner
- 2:53as Mose Moseley or Moses Moseley.
- 2:56Hannah Firman as Samantha Wagner, Felissa Rosa Stephanie
- 3:00Dave Sheridan as Mr. Dugan. Jeffrey Reddick as Norman
- 3:04Perkins and featuring in a in a small role, Jesse Wilson as Amy
- 3:10Holden. That's right, Jesse is in this
- 3:13movie guys. So if you guys don't have any
- 3:16desire to watch it for any other reason, you can at least watch
- 3:19Jesse. I'm the one with blue hair next
- 3:21to Jeffrey Reddick. Yeah, she's right next to
- 3:23Jeffrey Reddick. You can't miss her blue hair.
- 3:26All right, so it's time for her favorite game on the show Budget
- 3:29or Button I. Mean, I know.
- 3:33Yeah. I contributed to Indiegogo.
- 3:36I knew what their goal was. You.
- 3:38Funded this movie. In a way, partially, yeah.
- 3:41So I do actually have a number for this.
- 3:42Surprisingly, it's 75,000. We weren't able to confirm with
- 3:46them if that was the real amount, but I think that's
- 3:48accurate based off of their Indiegogo.
- 3:51I don't know if they put this on their themselves or not, how
- 3:54much of this information from the movie is from them directly
- 3:57or if it's from like people doing it themselves.
- 3:59But yeah, I mean. I mean, the Indiegogo's pretty
- 4:02much public records, so. That's true, yeah.
- 4:04I don't have any of the other financials since it went
- 4:06straight to streaming, but I do have the IMDb and hey,
- 4:09congratulations guys, it's Ada, It's in Woo.
- 4:12That's pretty cool right there. Everybody go to IMDb and help
- 4:15keep the score up. Yeah, we want a sequel and we
- 4:18need everybody to watch this streaming, get good numbers.
- 4:22That way there can be a sequel. That way there can be physical
- 4:25releases. Yes.
- 4:26And yeah, there's a lot of people can really help get this
- 4:29thing released physically, because I want it physically.
- 4:31We do not have it. Yeah, but no, I mean, that
- 4:34number, it's like several 100 people.
- 4:36So, you know, it's not like bullshit people.
- 4:38Yeah, at that point, which is cool.
- 4:40So I have a theme of three other movies that came out in 2025 to
- 4:44compare to. OK.
- 4:45And my theme is 90 Slashers are back baby.
- 4:49All right, I like that. So the first one I know you did
- 4:53last summer. That's right, that movie did
- 4:55come out this year. Completely forgot about it until
- 4:58I saw it on the list. We even went and saw it.
- 5:01We saw it in theaters. Yeah, yeah.
- 5:03It came out July 18th, 2025. It had $18 million for the
- 5:07budget, made 64 million. Hopefully we remember about this
- 5:11maybe in the summer so we can. We got to cover it.
- 5:13We covered the other three. Yeah, Got to if I had to, if I
- 5:16had to talk about. I'll always know what you did
- 5:18last summer. I want to be able to talk about
- 5:21this. Oh, you don't even know because
- 5:23I haven't told you. But we're talking about much
- 5:25worse than that later this month.
- 5:26I. Don't know.
- 5:27Yeah, please don't tell me you're making me do wrong Turn
- 5:306. I'm not saying anything, Kevin.
- 5:33Your birthday moment. But if you look at our social
- 5:38media, you'll know if Jesse was right or wrong about that.
- 5:42OK, it's 5.1 out in on IMDBI. Don't know if that's a good or
- 5:47bad thing that we didn't remember that I, you know, I
- 5:50walked away from that movie not being 100% thrilled with if I
- 5:53got to be honest. A lot of questions about like we
- 5:57didn't get enough character resolution.
- 5:58Yeah, I'm not gonna talk about a lot of my problems with it
- 6:01because it'll be a massive spoiler for people out there.
- 6:05Yeah. I just, I have questions.
- 6:07I have questions that I want somebody to be able to answer.
- 6:10Yes, OK, second movie, Clown in a cornfield.
- 6:15Or, as Kendra calls it, corn in a clown field.
- 6:18I think that's a more appropriate title for.
- 6:20That I hope that's not too much of A spoiler for people that
- 6:22haven't watched it. If you haven't watched it, go
- 6:23watch it. It's fun.
- 6:24Yeah, it's on shutter. I mean, it's called a clown in a
- 6:26cornfield, obviously. It's clowns in a cornfield.
- 6:30Like, I mean, well, it's singular here, but there may be
- 6:35two. Don't spoil.
- 6:36Anything. There might at least be two.
- 6:37This is just going to be like 30 solid seconds of burn.
- 6:40It could be, yeah. I just, I get vibes of like 90
- 6:45slashes from the for some reason.
- 6:46I don't know, it just kind of scratches that itch for me a
- 6:48bit. I wonder how old the book is.
- 6:50I don't know, I don't think it's that old actually.
- 6:53Either way, it released May 9th, 2020.
- 6:55Five, $1 million budget, $13 million gross, 5.6 IMDb and the
- 7:02final movie, Fear St. Prom Queen because I mean it, it
- 7:06feels 90s but it's also set in the 90s I think.
- 7:09Yeah, and it's, I mean, obviously I feel like goosebumps
- 7:14and Fear St. and all the RL Stein stuff is going to hit us
- 7:18right where it lives, which is in our childhoods, which is in
- 7:21the 90s. Yeah, it also felt very prom
- 7:23night, which I don't know why. I also get like 90 fives from
- 7:28that for whatever reason, I just do.
- 7:31But that released May 23rd, 2025.
- 7:33I don't have financials because it was a Netflix movie, but it's
- 7:365.1. It's in on IMDb.
- 7:38All right, all right, Got 1 tag line.
- 7:41All right, I hope they made it count.
- 7:43I act like I don't know what. The you know what it is?
- 7:46The doctor will slay you now. Yeah, that's not bad.
- 7:49I think that fits pretty well with the tone of the movie they
- 7:51have here. Yeah, no, I agree.
- 7:53Yeah, And I imagine when we create our own tagline at the
- 7:56end of the episode, it'll be just as cheesy, if not more.
- 7:59Yes. All right, so as we said before,
- 8:03we normally do fun facts during this time, but instead we're
- 8:07gonna just turn it over to our buddies that made the movie and
- 8:11and tell you some stuff straight from the mouth of gods.
- 8:18All right. So now we want to take this
- 8:21opportunity to welcome to the show 2 very special guests.
- 8:25We've got local writers and directors, our friends from
- 8:29Blood Moon Pictures. We have PJ Starks and Eric
- 8:31Huskisson. Welcome you guys.
- 8:34Hello, hello, hello. Thanks for having.
- 8:36Thank you for having. Thanks for being here.
- 8:39It's it's really cool to find, you know, be able to have you
- 8:41guys on the show. It's really cool having like
- 8:43local people, local film makers, especially representing
- 8:46Kentucky, stuff like that. So yeah, thanks for being here.
- 8:49Yeah, you guys got to be tired of getting all those real
- 8:51celebrities on there. Yeah, we've had, we've had like
- 8:55maybe one, we've had one other person I think, and it was David
- 8:59Howard Thornton. David Howard Thornton.
- 9:01We had Brandon Christensen. Oh yeah.
- 9:03Brandon Christensen, yeah. And I'd be remiss not to mention
- 9:06or a good pal, Robert O Tone. Oh, Robert, she's an author.
- 9:09Author but so yeah, what's up did.
- 9:11They get Did they get video as well?
- 9:13No, no. OK, you're the only ones
- 9:16actually. I'm calling foul, I'm calling
- 9:19foul. Thank God they didn't see what
- 9:22we looked like back then. Yeah.
- 9:24It worked out great because, like David Howard Thornton,
- 9:26we're going to spend this whole entire time talking about how
- 9:28much we hate Trump. We want to like just dedicate
- 9:31this entire section to that. I'm down with it.
- 9:35I'm kidding. All right, cool.
- 9:36So, yeah, I mean new Fields of Eve.
- 9:38I'm really excited that you guys finally got this out.
- 9:41And I think it's awesome that you guys got it as like a screen
- 9:44box exclusive too. That's got to be awesome.
- 9:46I'll take it. Never, never, never expected
- 9:50that. And I will take it most
- 9:52definitely. It looks like they're.
- 9:53Kind of we held off, you know, trying to get something like
- 9:59with every project bigger, better.
- 10:01And we were trying to see, you know, what bigger, better
- 10:04opportunities we could get with distribution.
- 10:07And it came along. So the weight paid off because I
- 10:10mean, you all were a part of the project.
- 10:12So I'm sure you all were on. I mean, now you came to the
- 10:15premiere, so you got a chance to to see the film, but there's so
- 10:20many other people who are a part of it who haven't had a chance
- 10:23to see it. So like, I can't imagine what
- 10:26the wait was like for them because yeah, it, we waited a
- 10:31while, but it was all for better, you know?
- 10:34We're getting a lot. We're getting a lot of people
- 10:35about damn time. Yeah.
- 10:37Yeah, it's for people. I'm not gonna lie, I was kind of
- 10:39thinking the same thing myself because like I was like, damn.
- 10:42Like we watched that back in summer last year.
- 10:44I was like, I was really looking forward to, you know, I'm glad
- 10:46you guys finally got into my. Time too, like I hope to God our
- 10:50next film, we already have a deal before we get started
- 10:54because that year and a half liked to kill me.
- 10:57You know, just, you know, you all think you all are impatient
- 11:00or anybody else was impatient. Geez, I just kept going to PJ
- 11:03until, until we sign that until we sign on that down a lot.
- 11:07I'm I'm, I'm not going to be calm about this at all because
- 11:11it was just I just kept thinking, Oh, we're never going
- 11:13to sign. We're never going to sign.
- 11:14Yeah, I imagine it's got to be pretty tough.
- 11:16Like especially being indie, you guys got to like you guys got to
- 11:19go find them. And I mean, I guess you guys
- 11:21could have like self released too, but you know, like
- 11:23definitely waiting it out. Definitely benefited.
- 11:25Well, the movie was going to come out.
- 11:26We we knew we were going to have distribution.
- 11:29We just like PJ started to say, we just, we just waited it out
- 11:32hoping for bigger and better. And I think, I think it worked
- 11:36out for us. I mean, we've, we've done really
- 11:38well with Justin Scream team releasing.
- 11:43Nope, no, no, no negatives at all about Scream team releasing
- 11:48at all. We just wanted to go a little
- 11:49bit different route this time, go a little bit a little bigger
- 11:51and better. And it, it worked out, It panned
- 11:54out. It was just a lot of lot of non
- 11:56patients on my part. I got to ask that does that like
- 12:00are you guys going to be able to release physical too?
- 12:04Yeah, so it yes and no. Yes.
- 12:07In the sense that we worked out a deal with Syniverse while they
- 12:12have physical rights, we get to make enough Blu rays that will
- 12:17fulfill the contributions through the Indiegogo's
- 12:21Everybody. You got a Blu-ray via the the
- 12:22campaign, they'll get the movie on Blu-ray, but then beyond
- 12:27that, anything that gets released will be done.
- 12:30So through Syniverse. Now they haven't said anything
- 12:33to us specifically as to how or when they're going to release
- 12:38the movie because we're doing Blu rays only.
- 12:39They may end up doing their own version that's a DVD that they
- 12:42do DVD and Blu-ray. But I think ultimately when and
- 12:48if that happens will be based off the strength of the response
- 12:52through streaming. So if anybody is a physical
- 12:56media care, you know. That's I am, I say probably most
- 13:01of our, probably most of our, Yeah.
- 13:04So I know it, I know it sucks to go this route, but like, the
- 13:08best way to ensure the fact that the movie's going to get
- 13:12physical release is to go watch and support and share the movie
- 13:16in its streaming version. Because Cena versus if if it
- 13:21looks like there's not a whole lot of interest in the film,
- 13:23they're not going to have any interest in releasing the movie.
- 13:25But if it looks like enough people are interested in the
- 13:28film to watch it on streaming, what are the possibilities when
- 13:32it if you know, for a physical release?
- 13:34So that's the only way we can see it happening, them releasing
- 13:38their own version. And I'm going to go ahead and
- 13:42guess that the same is probably true.
- 13:44You've hinted that you you have ideas for sequels, so I'm going
- 13:49to assume the sequel possibility is also probably tied to its
- 13:54success. Or are you going to do it
- 13:58anyway? It's.
- 13:58Kind of another, yes, yes. No, OK.
- 14:02So as with as with any situation, like with Syniverse
- 14:07being a studio now and a bigger company, our hope is that if it
- 14:11once again it does well enough for them and it makes a mark,
- 14:16then they'll go, oh, these guys really have something here.
- 14:19So then when we go to start making the sequel, they'll want
- 14:24to get on board and be a part of the film financially.
- 14:30What those metrics are for success, we have no idea that.
- 14:34I mean, even even well on streaming for them may still not
- 14:37equal like, Oh yeah, these it it's worthy of us to financially
- 14:42back a sequel. We really want to make a sequel.
- 14:46We're going to do another movie. We really hope that it's Part 2
- 14:51for New Fear's Eve. Because yeah, like I've got the
- 14:54whole idea fleshed out. I have about 11 pages of it
- 14:58written so far and I'm probably going to sit down after the
- 15:02first of the year to really start putting pen to paper.
- 15:04But as far as when it's going to happen, we hope it's sooner
- 15:09rather than later. And we really want to do our
- 15:12best to avoid the trappings of having to go the route of doing
- 15:17another campaign not to have to do that.
- 15:21I mean, and that's not like that's not shitting on the
- 15:24process for doing campaigns because it's, it's a great way
- 15:29for people who love independent film to be able to jump on board
- 15:31and support the movie because it is a goods and services thing.
- 15:34It's, I mean, there's, there's a bit of Eric and I where we're
- 15:36like, we feel bad reaching out and asking friends, family and
- 15:40total strangers to kind of support our bad habit.
- 15:43But at the same time, it's like everybody who does get on board,
- 15:45they they're getting something. Yeah.
- 15:47Yeah, that's what happened with me.
- 15:49I was very much like, hey, I want a chance to do this.
- 15:53I'm going to support these two people I know and like their
- 15:57work, and I'm also going to be a part of it.
- 15:59And then I also forked over some more money as I was leaving
- 16:03sets. That way I could keep my shirt.
- 16:05We got hung up here. It's on our museum wall of all
- 16:08of our worst stuff here. That's really cool.
- 16:11Yeah. You guys had, like, a really
- 16:12interesting, like, campaign, too.
- 16:13I liked how you guys did it, like, where people could be a
- 16:16part of the movie. I mean, that that alone ramped
- 16:19up your all's body count in this movie, right?
- 16:21Like that was like why you guys have so many deaths in the first
- 16:24place. Yeah, there was 19 in the
- 16:27original script and then by the time we did the You Can Die in
- 16:30the film opportunity and it went over to over 40 total by the
- 16:35time like the the film was said and done so.
- 16:39I can imagine that kind of makes you shit yourself a little bit
- 16:41though, like figuring out how to do all that.
- 16:44I told PJS that it's a lot of money, we need it, but we're
- 16:46done. Cut it off.
- 16:49I feel like you kind of like you kind of have to do each of them
- 16:52in a unique way too, or else you're kind of short changing
- 16:54people because like I feel like everybody kind of got their own
- 16:57highlight death in this too. Yeah.
- 17:00And I mean, and that was on purpose because that was the one
- 17:03thing I didn't want to do. So I even when when Eric and I
- 17:06came up with, OK, so we're going to do this where we allow people
- 17:10to come be a part of the film and get killed in the movie.
- 17:14We're both big proponents for special like practical effects.
- 17:18So we knew we were going to be going in.
- 17:20But that was like, one of the things I said from day one is I
- 17:22was like, if we're going to do this, everybody to the best of
- 17:26our ability is going to get their own individualized kill.
- 17:29Now, there were a couple of sequences in the movie where it
- 17:33became necessary to do it, where, you know, we had the
- 17:36triple. Throat lift.
- 17:39And that was a bad ass. I like that, yeah.
- 17:41That was. A cool move.
- 17:43And then the triple axe kill and that kind of became necessity
- 17:47because it got to a point where I was like, holy shit, we got so
- 17:50many people we got to kill. Like I started and I'm like the,
- 17:54I'm a gore guy and I'm, I love a good death in a movie, but like
- 17:59even I started to struggle with ways of, of killing people after
- 18:04a while. So I was like, how are we going
- 18:05to kill? So I was like, OK, well, we'll
- 18:07kill these three in one fell swoop with an axe.
- 18:10We'll kill these three, you know, with a scalpel and hope
- 18:14the audience is along for the ride.
- 18:17But for the like you were saying like the majority of it,
- 18:20everybody who came on board the project who got to death, like
- 18:24they got their own individualized kill in some form
- 18:27or fashion, which I think surprised a lot of people.
- 18:30Not just like the viewers, I'm saying like the people who came
- 18:34on board. I know Kent specifically had
- 18:36told Eric and I and he was one of the ones who was part of the
- 18:39triple throat slit. But like he expected to come on
- 18:43set and then just get some blood thrown on him and that was
- 18:45going. To be the.
- 18:46Extent of it, but I mean, he went through the whole process.
- 18:50He went through makeup, he had a prosthetic put on his throat, he
- 18:53had blood pumping out. I mean, he was.
- 18:55So excited when he found out he was getting a prosthetic put on
- 18:58him. He was so excited.
- 19:00That's awesome. And I think that there was
- 19:01several others along the way that were like, oh, oh, so we're
- 19:05doing this. This is how it's going to
- 19:07happen. So I think a lot of people got
- 19:09surprised and then of course, you know, people watching the
- 19:11film. I mean, there's everybody who's
- 19:14reached out to me to say, hey, I like the movie.
- 19:17I was, you know, I was pleasantly surprised.
- 19:19It was a great time. This.
- 19:20I would always, I always ask somebody, what was your favorite
- 19:23kill? Because there's so many, there's
- 19:25so many different options for what could be a favorite kill.
- 19:28And we get a lot, or I've gotten a lot of the same answers, you
- 19:32know, Felicia's death. Or.
- 19:35The the killdo, but I've gotten a lot of the other.
- 19:39The triple throw slit has been one the eyes being ripped out.
- 19:44His was another one, which I'm sure surprises Eric because he
- 19:47he, I think he said he hated that one.
- 19:49I like the your brain on drugs at the very beginning that.
- 19:52One's good, yeah. Like with the 2 the two pans in
- 19:55the kitchen. 2 Frying. Pans, yeah.
- 19:57So yeah, there's a lot of different ways that people die
- 19:59in this movie, and originally every because it's the doctor,
- 20:04the way it was written was everyone got killed by like a
- 20:08surgical implement. In some way, but after a while
- 20:12when you start getting up there, it's like there's the the the
- 20:16ways people can die by surgical implementation is like less and
- 20:22less so then I was like, all right, so they get killed by an
- 20:24axe He rips. You know, he let's, let's, let's
- 20:28take away, you know, physics and say he can RIP someone's throat
- 20:31out with just his bare hand, you know, so.
- 20:33I got to admit though, there was one I noticed the the detail
- 20:36like the crossbow. He had the scalpel as like the
- 20:39arrow instead. That was pretty cool.
- 20:41That was pretty inventive, but. Yeah, that was another one
- 20:44someone actually point which made me feel good because
- 20:46there's deaths when you when you go into it, like when I wrote
- 20:49the kills, the toilet kill and the kill though, were the 2 that
- 20:55I told Eric like these are if if this film is remembered for
- 20:58anything, it's going to be one of these two specifically the
- 21:02kill, though, But it's nice when people say, oh, the crossbow
- 21:07kill was really cool or you know, whatever.
- 21:11I'm there's so many deaths. I'm brain farting on other kills
- 21:14in the movie but it's. Like it's, it's amazing.
- 21:16Out other deaths it's it's awesome.
- 21:18It's amazing the amount of people that ood and awed and
- 21:21grimaced during the girl getting her head sawed through.
- 21:25That's the one that I think, yeah.
- 21:27I mean, it's surprising that the amount of audiences we've
- 21:30watched and during that scene, but that's not one that a lot of
- 21:34people come up and say, oh, that was my favorite 1.
- 21:36I don't think I've ever had anybody come up to me and say
- 21:39anything about it, but we've gotten a lot of oohs and AWS and
- 21:42like, Oh my God kind of comments during all the all the ones we
- 21:46watched. I promise you.
- 21:47Like when we were talking about that, that was in my head, like
- 21:50I was thinking about that one. So that one was pretty bad ass.
- 21:53Yeah, that girl, that girl came out of nowhere too.
- 21:55That we get. So we get so lucky.
- 21:58Well, what? What are your all's favorite
- 22:01kills, both in terms of what are your favorite ones to film and
- 22:05what are your favorite end products once you've seen
- 22:08everything on screen together? I was going to let Aaron go. 1st
- 22:13and. I talked.
- 22:14So much about. Yeah, well, honestly, honestly,
- 22:19just from audience participation and watching, of course, the
- 22:24killdo scene, killdo scene. But my my favorite, my favorite
- 22:28one honestly, is the big massacre room with the guy with
- 22:33the saw on the neck and then that one, and then all the and
- 22:37then all the clicking and everybody else is getting sawed
- 22:40under the sheets and all that. I just, I, I love how that goes
- 22:44from beginning to end. Not just it's a great kill, it's
- 22:48just, it's it. It's the way he pieced it and
- 22:51the way it was just. I got saw vibes from that scene.
- 22:55Was that inspired by that at all?
- 22:57100%. OK, cool.
- 23:00As a matter of fact, when when Frank was scoring the movie,
- 23:06because I told him, like going into it, I said, look, when you
- 23:09score the film, I want you to think of scores like Urban
- 23:12Legend or I Know What You Did Last Summer because they're real
- 23:14big orchestral feel. But when he got to that scene,
- 23:19he actually messaged me and he said, can can I do the music for
- 23:22this part very similar to how the music is in a Saw film.
- 23:27And it said, 100% do it. Absolutely.
- 23:31Because yeah, there's a lot of not just references to other
- 23:34horror films, but there are like homages from the way things were
- 23:37shot and done. And that that scene specifically
- 23:39was, was definitely an homage to Saw, like in every way.
- 23:44And I'd say that's probably the the moment in the movie each
- 23:49time we've watched it, where like, I start to actually feel
- 23:52that sense of dread where it's like, OK, we're in a horror
- 23:55movie. Shit's about to go down.
- 23:57You see this one guy and you're like, oh, no, this is bad.
- 24:00And then all of a sudden they all go, all of these tables are
- 24:02going off. And you know what's happening
- 24:04even without seeing it. And it's just so well done, you
- 24:08guys. Yeah.
- 24:09Well, thank you. The the way it was written was
- 24:11actually more complex than what you see on the screen.
- 24:15But it came down to just time, the amount of time because there
- 24:18was a lot of time put into just the preparation for that scene
- 24:23because we had to construct all the tables and figure out, you
- 24:26know, the bodies and how we were going to go about everybody
- 24:29getting saw it. So there was a lot more to that
- 24:31scene visually. But then we had to start making
- 24:34some compromises once it came down to the way we were actually
- 24:37shooting it. I love the way it turned out.
- 24:41There were a lot more moving parts to that scene based off
- 24:44the way it was written. But honestly, like, my favorite
- 24:49kill in the movie was one is is one that really nobody has
- 24:53talked about yet. But that's the one where Emily's
- 24:58head is slammed against the glass door until skull cracks.
- 25:03Yeah, it's funny because, like, the way we shot it there it he
- 25:08slammed her head probably about 12 times against the door.
- 25:11So it just kept going and going and going.
- 25:14So when Eric and Jeffrey both watched the original edit, they
- 25:17were like, is there any way you can cut that down a little?
- 25:20Bit. It kind of goes on and on and on
- 25:22and on. Well, I mean, we honestly had no
- 25:25sound with it. Well, that was the other thing
- 25:28too. Yeah, because Eric originally
- 25:31he, he did not like that kill with like before all the sound
- 25:35design and the music was there. Cuz looking at it, it did look
- 25:39it looks very cheesy. It wasn't completely edited,
- 25:42there was no no no sound to it, and it looked like somebody
- 25:45holding a fake cheapo head hitting it up against the glass
- 25:49door. That's exactly what the sound is
- 25:51though, right there. Sound and then and then the
- 25:53editing part, right? Yeah, and it's funny cuz like
- 25:57Eric said, that he goes, it looks like somebody's slamming a
- 26:00dummy against the door and I go, Eric, we are slamming a dummy
- 26:03against. It but.
- 26:05It's not, but it's not supposed to look like that.
- 26:10I guess like to kind of follow up on before, like you're
- 26:13talking about having to like cut down on that one scene.
- 26:16So like did you guys have any other like kill your darling
- 26:19type moments? Like how?
- 26:20Like how much did that come up in this movie where you had to
- 26:22like, scale back on things that you were originally planning to
- 26:26be a little bit bigger scale than what you could do?
- 26:29Well, there's a I mean there is a kill in the in the 1st 5
- 26:32minutes. It's the one with the.
- 26:34The hedge trimmers are not. Burning.
- 26:38I call that the burning kill. It's.
- 26:39The burning kill, right? Because originally the way the
- 26:43kill went was it went down in his mouth, into the back of his
- 26:47throat and he opened it and it split his.
- 26:51Head. And then the his head was
- 26:53supposed to like flop back and the special effect did not work.
- 27:00It did not. It didn't work.
- 27:01I tried to edit around it to where it, you know, like, and I
- 27:05just kept cutting it down and cutting it down and cutting it
- 27:08down. Because the one thing I hate
- 27:09more than anything is I hate in movies where you start to see
- 27:13the kill, it cuts away and then you only see the aftermath.
- 27:16Nothing annoys me more than that.
- 27:19You have to do cutaways a lot of time less unless you put CG into
- 27:23it. You have to do cutaways if
- 27:24you're doing practically to, you know, to cut around certain
- 27:28aspects because a lot of time the effects are done in stages.
- 27:32But with that one, there was no saving it even with, you know,
- 27:37even with special editing. So I did have to cut away where
- 27:42you only see like the blood spray on the mask of the Doctor
- 27:45and that bugged the shit out of me.
- 27:47But the only thing I felt was the saving grace was the fact
- 27:50that it it was very the kill itself was meant to be an homage
- 27:54to the burning. So I felt like as a horror fan,
- 27:58that that worked well enough. And plus, it was one of the
- 28:02first kills, and the kills get gradually and gradually more
- 28:06violent throughout the beginning.
- 28:08But just saying something when you somebody's throat is ripped
- 28:11off in the 1st 45 seconds of a movie.
- 28:14Right. That's actually one of my
- 28:16favorite effects in the movie too.
- 28:18And The funny thing is you wouldn't even know this, but so
- 28:21Josh Siegel, who is our script supervisor on the film, he also
- 28:26does visual effects. So when we got like when I got
- 28:31the film finished, there were a lot of stuff throughout the
- 28:34movie where it was like, oh man, I wish we could cover this up or
- 28:37cover that up. Well, we ended up getting with
- 28:40Josh and he went through the movie and he covered up logos
- 28:46and seems on certain like where you could tell there was a
- 28:50special effects stuff. So there's about 53 visual
- 28:53effects in the movie throughout, but you would never know because
- 28:56they're so small. Little like minor little tweaks
- 29:00and edits. Nothing.
- 29:01There's it's funny because I always say this, I'm I'll at
- 29:04some point during an interview, I'll go, there's no digital
- 29:06blood. And there it goes at no, there
- 29:08is digital blood and it's, it's seen on the triple ax kill where
- 29:12the axe comes down into the camera.
- 29:16That is a reverse shot that we did.
- 29:20And so there was no way for us to be able to have dripping
- 29:22blood on the axe because otherwise it would be coming
- 29:24back up onto. So when I talked to Josh, I was
- 29:27like, is there any way you can add some dripping blood on the
- 29:30axe? And he did it.
- 29:32And unless you look really, really close or you're told it's
- 29:37digital blood, nobody notices that it's digital blood.
- 29:41Nice, it all looks seamless to me.
- 29:42I I thought it was 100% practical.
- 29:45It even blew Eric away because when he first saw it, he was
- 29:47like, wait, that's digital blood because he wasn't real on board
- 29:51with the digital blood idea until he saw it.
- 29:53And then he was like, Oh yeah, that works.
- 29:55That works great. So Josh did an awesome job.
- 29:59And that was so going back to the throat.
- 30:00RIP. Originally the whole thing is a
- 30:03prosthetic and you could see almost a seam that went because
- 30:08the prosthetic went around his whole entire neck area, but you
- 30:11could see a seam and it didn't match.
- 30:14And I was like, Oh my God, how are we going to fix that?
- 30:16Well, Josh fixed it. And Travis will tell you this,
- 30:20I'm a very annoying person because I love playing around
- 30:23with special effects and I'll be like, I didn't see the edge of
- 30:25the scar wax there on her forehead.
- 30:27I'm a very annoying movie watching partner in that
- 30:31respect. But I didn't have it really any
- 30:32opportunities to do that during this, which is it says a lot
- 30:36about how how well everything got smoothed over and and just
- 30:40all of the care that was put in this movie behind the scenes.
- 30:43And Travis, you were mentioning earlier about the crossbow.
- 30:47What's funny about that far into the this in post, you know, we
- 30:51keep, we watch it and watch it and watch it catch stuff, you
- 30:54know, listen to sound, look at color and all that.
- 30:56And I'm watching it and I'm like, well, right as he lifts up
- 31:00that crossbow, there's the name of the crossbow all the way
- 31:02across the cross. And there's a there's a name on
- 31:06the arrow. And I'm like, PJ, he goes, OK,
- 31:09we'll just get Josh, see if you take it out.
- 31:11Because I mean, we know nobody noticed it.
- 31:14I mean, we were about done, like, well, this is it.
- 31:16Yeah, let's watch it one more time.
- 31:18And it was late in post. And I'm like, look at that right
- 31:21there. And I mean, it was so obvious it
- 31:22was there, but we never caught it before.
- 31:25And those are the types of things that you don't think
- 31:27about as like a human in everyday life, just how branded
- 31:31everything is. But I saw where you guys filmed
- 31:34the office locations, obviously, and that is a very real working
- 31:39building. And watching the movie last
- 31:41night, I was just kind of blown away at how much it looks like
- 31:44its own office that you can't tell what the company actually
- 31:49is. Yeah, you know, actually
- 31:50speaking on that, how do you guys like, fuck that place up so
- 31:53badly and like, make it still fine on Monday?
- 31:57You know, like, how is that even possible?
- 32:00We have really great cruise. OK, Yeah.
- 32:04I mean, I mean, yeah, yeah. Of dedicated people who are
- 32:08ready to clean as soon as we're finished.
- 32:12Well, and it's going into the location scout, it's going to
- 32:14the location scout going, we can make this work here, we can do
- 32:17this here. And then, you know, you just go
- 32:20in, like you said, you do the prep work, put the Hooper signs
- 32:22on all the doors and knowing where not to splash the blood.
- 32:27And I mean, we had restrictions in that building.
- 32:29That building is one whole building, but about 1/3 of the
- 32:33building is another business. Now, we had permission to film
- 32:37in the hallways there, but not in the offices, only the other
- 32:41side, which was actually the realtor company.
- 32:44We were allowed to go in any office and do anything we wanted
- 32:47to. So we only could film in the
- 32:50hallways on about 1/3 of that building.
- 32:52But I mean, yeah, we, we, we go through a lot of wipes, lot of
- 32:56paper towels, a lot of cleaning supplies.
- 32:59There's a lot of blood in this movie, so.
- 33:01We go through at the end and check walls and check floors and
- 33:05just make sure there's nothing we missed.
- 33:06And we did find some some blood splatter on some walls and we
- 33:09had to get some paint and paint over.
- 33:10Oh. Damn.
- 33:12Yeah, yeah, that was, well, it wasn't even just the special
- 33:16effects stuff like we, there's the hallway scene where the
- 33:20doctor comes, you know, and he guts that guy and stabs the girl
- 33:23in the throat with the Corkscrew.
- 33:26But up on the wall, we had that big banner which got used 1000
- 33:29times, the Happy New Year's banner.
- 33:32And we would use gaffer tape. And gaffer tape is supposed to
- 33:35be made not to RIP paint off of walls.
- 33:40So we put that sign up or the banner up and then we go to take
- 33:45the banner down and it ripped a softball sized piece of the
- 33:50paint off the wall. And immediately we were like,
- 33:53oh, fuck. And we're like halfway through
- 33:56shooting at this point. We're like, Oh no, they're going
- 33:59to tell us that we have to get out of the building.
- 34:01They're going to We don't, we're not going to have a place to
- 34:03film anymore. So immediately I'm calling Matt,
- 34:06who is the contact who allowed us to come in there to like
- 34:10film. And I'm like, I'm so sorry.
- 34:12And he's laughing because he it's like it's just paint, you
- 34:15know, come in after the fact repainted.
- 34:17It's not that big a deal. But the other funny thing as far
- 34:20as like cleaning goes, I watch certain kills in the movie and
- 34:25while they're not as bloody in the film, the amount of clean up
- 34:29that we had to do after the fact, For instance, spilling the
- 34:35the shot where you see the guts spill out on the floor, which
- 34:39was real pig intestines by the way, it took so long to clean
- 34:45that up and we had to do it three different times.
- 34:48So we had to reset. But just to give you an idea,
- 34:51when you see that shot on the floor, the prep that went into
- 34:55just getting that shot, because we had to go out, we had to buy
- 34:59fake flooring. Oh my God.
- 35:01That's a fake wall. So when you see him standing
- 35:05there, so that way when the guts hit, we knew it would splatter
- 35:09out. So on one side, one whole actual
- 35:12wall is tarped. The entire hallway floor is
- 35:15tarped. Then the fake floor is laid down
- 35:18on top of the tarp and then up behind him where he's standing,
- 35:22which actually in that shot is me standing there and I'm
- 35:28holding a bowl with the guts and just dumping it on the floor.
- 35:33But that's a fake wall. I mean, really, we could have
- 35:35shot it anywhere. But we all, I mean, we shot
- 35:37everything on location. And but yeah, the amount of prep
- 35:42work that went into it. And then Felicia's death in the
- 35:45bathroom. There was so much blood on the
- 35:48floor and we we were run and gun by.
- 35:51The. Toilet.
- 35:53Yeah, at the toilet. I mean, the whole entire floor
- 35:56was covered. The toilet was covered in blood
- 36:00and it was me and Ryan McCain who was one of our P as on the
- 36:05film, and he was incredible. But I can remember he and I sat
- 36:09there for 15 minutes twice, so 30 minutes, cleaning up all the
- 36:14blood. And then we would like there was
- 36:17a leak on the toilet. So every time we flushed it,
- 36:20blood would come out from where the toilet and the floor met.
- 36:24So we would have to keep cleaning the blood until we
- 36:27flushed the toilet and no more blood would come out.
- 36:29Wow. But yeah, so.
- 36:31And of course, you don't see any of that.
- 36:33And the scene itself is like 15 seconds long.
- 36:36It's an amazing scene though. You should have left.
- 36:39You should have left all of that in the toilet.
- 36:40The leaking blood toilet. Yeah, like leave that there and
- 36:43then whoever comes in the next day is like.
- 36:45What the I'm going to turn that into an urban legend, people
- 36:47tell the leaking hot toilet. It's not a great shot of the
- 36:51toilet and everything covered in blood, so it's out there
- 36:54somewhere to where you can see it.
- 36:56I hate to have to end this, but we're about to get kicked off of
- 36:59our free recording session. That was fast.
- 37:04I know. Yeah, so fast.

- 38:41information from them on that, some of that stuff that we
- 38:44didn't even know. Yeah, honestly, it could have
- 38:46went on a lot longer, but our free Zoom 40 minute thing went
- 38:51up on us there. We are also in indie production.
- 38:54Yeah, that's right. Yeah, if you want us to have
- 38:56longer, less time sensitive interviews, we need more
- 39:02patience. We do, yeah.
- 39:03That way we can pay for services, yeah.
- 39:05And goods, yeah. And yeah, that's capitalism.
- 39:10Maybe. Yep, we're all stuck in it.
- 39:12Yep, unfortunately. OK, so I guess with that out of
- 39:15the way, we're just going to go on into our thoughts on a good,
- 39:17bad, ugly and absurd. So Jesse, you kick it off.
- 39:20What'd you like? Oh, well, this is a horror movie
- 39:23made by people who love horror movies.
- 39:25And I always love when you can tell that because even if we
- 39:29didn't know PJ and Eric, even even if we hadn't met them and
- 39:32befriended them at a horror convention.
- 39:34Yeah. That is where we met them.
- 39:35It is still very clear that they have a lot of love for the
- 39:39genre. Lots of like subtle and not so
- 39:42subtle homages. Yeah, some amazing kill scenes.
- 39:47Yeah, this movie is loaded with a lot of.
- 39:49Them yeah and it's it's kind of great that they ended up doing
- 39:52that Indiegogo perk I don't remember what exactly what it
- 39:57called but where they where you could pay to be killed on screen
- 40:01and they're added so many more deaths with this which.
- 40:05I had the potential to make the Doctor be kind of a confusing
- 40:07character, but I love, I love horror villains that are just
- 40:11like opportunists, like Art the Clown or Jason Voorhees.
- 40:14I always down the hill then. Jason Voorhees is an opportunist
- 40:18when it comes to his murder weapons.
- 40:19People just choose to focus on the machete.
- 40:22It's true, he like I most movies he's not using the machete for
- 40:26most of us kills. Yeah right.
- 40:28You know, I really don't understand.
- 40:30Is it because the 1st 1 ended with the mom getting decapitated
- 40:33with one? I don't.
- 40:34Know, I really don't know. I don't either, but.
- 40:37He does have a signature weapon in a way.
- 40:39Here, he's got a scalpel. Yeah, he's got a scalpel.
- 40:42I I think that it it does feel like it's a full 95 minutes,
- 40:47which is what the runtime is, but it it goes by at a pretty
- 40:50quick clip. Yeah, it's cuz he's got so many
- 40:52people to kill. Yeah, and PJ definitely puts in
- 40:55a lot of humor into his writing. So there's a few few laugh out
- 40:59loud lines. I think my favorite one is it
- 41:02Oh, it's never a good time for vaginitis.
- 41:04Oh God, yeah. Actually that whole scene was
- 41:07great because I like the whole part of the most.
- 41:09Just like using the lotion as to like emulate coming.
- 41:13Yeah. Yeah, that that whole scene is
- 41:15great. And I'm going to tell you that
- 41:17scene in the conference room with everybody where he's like
- 41:19pulling off people to fire. That was another one.
- 41:23I was going to actually ask you about that.
- 41:25Yes. So I'm very glad to talk about
- 41:27because that we shot probably about 5 or 6 different times and
- 41:30it was after a couple of rehearsals and Dave and Felicia
- 41:33said something different every single time.
- 41:35Felicia actually had like a lot more lines than that.
- 41:38So was Dave just like riffing on that?
- 41:40Was that all him just kind of going off?
- 41:42On some of it was script and some of it was him.
- 41:44Just like ad lobbing, I. I like the whole thing like.
- 41:47Mess with the bull, get the utters.
- 41:48That was good. Yeah.
- 41:49Was that Dave? I think that was script.
- 41:51That was script. OK, I don't I didn't get an
- 41:53actual copy of the script. I just know that like there were
- 41:55different things said in each of the texts.
- 41:57He was coming up with the nicknames for people as he was
- 41:59going. Yeah, though I like the one with
- 42:02Mars. He's like yeah, cuz you're a
- 42:03planet or something like that. Yeah, no, it's just like stupid
- 42:07and fun, and that's gotta be Madman Mars for sure that he.
- 42:10Was referencing absolutely. I it, it was so hard keeping a
- 42:16straight face. I was trying really hard to be
- 42:17like, OK, I look like I'm worried about getting fired
- 42:20they're getting. Fired.
- 42:21You got to be. And but like, they're just
- 42:23cragging up. Felissa is saying stuff about
- 42:25like the generic toothpaste that he got for Christmas.
- 42:29She was like, and I know it wasn't a good toothpaste because
- 42:31sometimes when he yells at me, he spits when he's talking and a
- 42:34little guy in my mouth and like. No, wait, that wasn't in the
- 42:38movie, was it? That was a good line.
- 42:40Yeah, it was just, it was so hard keeping my shit together
- 42:44because they are so funny. Yeah.
- 42:46And that room was about 90°. They had a smoke machine going
- 42:50and they to like kind of like. A fog machine, Yeah.
- 42:53Yeah, it. And I can't imagine how much
- 42:57worse it would have been if it hadn't been like February when
- 42:59we shot that. There's like 90 people in there
- 43:02one time, right? It looks like a shit ton of
- 43:03extras. It was really crowded in that
- 43:05room. But yeah, we this is a few hours
- 43:08of shooting that a big, the part of it was getting like the
- 43:12lighting and the shots and everything and stuff.
- 43:16Yeah, yeah. But it it was, it was really
- 43:20funny. It was a really good time.
- 43:21Yeah, that was another one of my favorite, like, funny scenes
- 43:24right there. I like that one a lot, even as a
- 43:25cameo for American PJ. They're both John Gay Johns.
- 43:30Yep. Yeah.
- 43:32OK. As if you're a good son.
- 43:35Yeah, I, I, I mean, we're going to be really biased with this
- 43:38movie and there's just really no way around it, so.
- 43:40Yeah, yeah. But we'll try and be fair too.
- 43:44But like, I, yeah, I, I enjoy this movie.
- 43:47This movie was a lot of fun, especially when we watched it in
- 43:49the the premiere. I mean, mostly because there's a
- 43:53lot of like friends and family of like the cast and crew, which
- 43:56was cool. Everybody got really excited
- 43:58when they would see people. Yeah, exactly.
- 44:00Yeah, but like watching it at home, like it was cool because
- 44:04it's been like way like a year and a half basically since we
- 44:06watched it the first time. So like I had forgotten a lot of
- 44:09things. And man, this movie, it just
- 44:12like it goes like this movie has so much like the the killing, it
- 44:17starts like the opening is amazing because it sets the tone
- 44:21so well with just like you get the doctor and you get like 5 or
- 44:266 kills right out the gate and they're good.
- 44:29Like the effects in this movie especially like they did a great
- 44:33job and to like learn from that conversation with them that some
- 44:38of that was like, I mean, it was like all practical, but like
- 44:41they had like a smidge of like digital VFX.
- 44:43In. Some spots it, it looked
- 44:46fantastic the entire time. And I'm, I'm with you, like
- 44:50there's a lot of jokes in this movie and there's, there's some
- 44:54of them that like really, really land for me.
- 44:55Like like I was talking about before, like the stuff at that.
- 44:58I mean the parts we already talked about.
- 45:00Basically. I, I also, I like the design of
- 45:03the doctor too. I I like these horror slasher
- 45:06villains that like really stand out and are unique.
- 45:09And that's a guy that you can like, if he's like a silhouette,
- 45:12you can pick him out like that big beak in the top hat is a
- 45:15good giveaway. I like that he's like a taller,
- 45:18bigger figure and he's got like a menacing stature to him.
- 45:21I like it at the end, too. So you all haven't seen it.
- 45:26Spoiler Yeah. Where he's coming in to work at
- 45:30the hospital on New Year's Eve, and it looks reasonable, like
- 45:33he's a doctor that got called away from a New Year's party.
- 45:36Like he's dressed up like that. So I like how that all ties in
- 45:39together as the character. OK, so let's talk about Beth.
- 45:43What's the stuff we don't like? OK.
- 45:46I'm not a person that needs to have a villain's background.
- 45:49I'm perfectly fine not having it.
- 45:50I also don't hate getting a background right.
- 45:53I'm neutral on it. I'm not begging for it, but I'm
- 45:56also not going to be overly mad if we try and get something.
- 45:59Yeah, unless it's like belabored.
- 46:01I do wish we knew a little bit more about the doctor's
- 46:03motivations. I.
- 46:04Was kind of wondering that too, because we started off in West
- 46:06Virginia and then we're all the way in Owensboro, KY, which, you
- 46:09know, to a lot of people probably doesn't mean much, but
- 46:11that's a pretty considerable drive.
- 46:13I'm holding space for this though, because I know that PJ
- 46:18has an idea of first sequel already like he's he's had the
- 46:21beats for it ready, so I'm assuming there's more to be told
- 46:24of the doctor. Yeah, I just, I wish I had a
- 46:27little bit more, but no, I'm impatient.
- 46:29Yeah, I agree. That was one thing that I was
- 46:31wondering too, like 'cause we get like a little bit of like
- 46:36he's in it with the cops too. Yes.
- 46:37And like they got. The cops involved and that makes
- 46:40sense why Leslie gets involved because that's basically his
- 46:43leverage over the cop. Yeah.
- 46:45But it's just, it would have been nice to like have some more
- 46:48like connecting threads between these like different plots that
- 46:51are going on, like with the Cop and then with the people at the
- 46:55the building, you know, like it. I, I want, I want a little bit
- 46:59more, but again, that's me holding space for knowing that
- 47:03there's there are sequel ideas. Yeah, yeah.
- 47:07I mean, like, really, that would probably be my only real issue
- 47:11too. Like the only other things that
- 47:13you can really say about this is it's not even a knock on the
- 47:16movie itself. It's just like kind of like the
- 47:18nature of like this type of like production.
- 47:19It was a very like a local production, stuff like that in
- 47:22Kentucky. So they kind of like had to use
- 47:25what they had at hand there with the amount of people that they
- 47:29had in this movie, Like you're not always going to have like
- 47:31the the biggest talent pool of people.
- 47:34So maybe some weaker performances here and there from
- 47:37some people. But like, you know, it's a low
- 47:39budget indie movie. Like I'm not going to knock it
- 47:42too much for that. I think it kind of actually fits
- 47:44really with what they're doing here because it I mean, even in
- 47:47the movie itself, like the dialogue is like saying this is
- 47:50basically like a 90s straight the video splasher.
- 47:52Very much the dialogue itself, especially going through this
- 47:56rewatch of Buffy with you, it it feels very like that, where it's
- 48:00like zinger, zinger, zinger. Yeah.
- 48:03And I'm good with that. I'm good with that too.
- 48:05Yeah, no, I'm OK with that too. Has to be delivered just right
- 48:08and I think our three leads do a very good job with their
- 48:10delivery. Yeah, and I remember I I've seen
- 48:13him talk about the dude that played Moses, that he was like
- 48:16barely an actor, like he barely had any experience, but like
- 48:19they chose him to be like one of the leads of the movie.
- 48:22I thought he did a great. Job.
- 48:23He had really good comedic instincts.
- 48:24He did, yeah. I thought he he did a really
- 48:26good job. But yeah, like, I mean, it's not
- 48:30like a knock on the movie like at all.
- 48:31It's just kind of like the nature of making like, I mean,
- 48:33if I were to make a movie here in town and I got all the most
- 48:37talented actors in here, like there would probably be some
- 48:39people that would be like, could be better, you know?
- 48:42But hey, you, you use what you get or what you can't get, I
- 48:45guess. OK, Ugly.
- 48:49I'm going to say the the doctor reneging, reneging, reneging.
- 48:53OK, yeah, whatever on his deal because he killed Mike's sister
- 48:58and the younger daughter. Yeah, like the doctor was
- 49:02supposed to leave him alone if he was cooperative.
- 49:05And then he's a bastard man. He is a bastard man.
- 49:08He's a true. Has dirty dealings.
- 49:10Yeah, dirty deeds. Dirty deeds, They're cheap.
- 49:14Yeah. My ugliest moment is the moment
- 49:18where the dude vomits on Moses wrist and he sniffs it and he's
- 49:23like that's Nacho cheese. That's fucking disgusting dude.
- 49:27I don't it looked like you just had him spit up soup beans.
- 49:30Oh, I think that's what happened.
- 49:31That is nasty as shit. How the fuck do people keep
- 49:34their composure during that? That is so fucking disgusting.
- 49:37It is. It is hard to watch.
- 49:41Yeah, it was. It was incredibly hard to watch.
- 49:43I can't imagine having to be the person that gets spit up on
- 49:46like, soup beans. Just disgusting.
- 49:49OK, absurd stuff then. What is up with the fucking lady
- 49:54cop? Lady cop?
- 49:56Yeah, I didn't catch her name, so I didn't see.
- 49:58That. The officer Flanagan's partner.
- 50:02Why the fuck is she drinking almond milk out of the flask?
- 50:07What is that what she was doing? Was it all that milk?
- 50:09Yes. Oh, a flask?
- 50:10Yes, put it in your thermosuit. Yeah, it like.
- 50:14You don't even need to keep it like temporally I guess if you
- 50:16want to keep it cool. I don't.
- 50:18Know it just Tumblr. That is weird.
- 50:20What a weird choice to make as a human being.
- 50:24That is weird. That's your absurd time.
- 50:27I'm going to say the captions. Oh my God dude I so we watched
- 50:33it on prime like we said so I don't know if this is different
- 50:36on. Screen box AI generated.
- 50:38It had to be, yeah. This was like it was not done by
- 50:41a human, but the the captions were all over the place and it's
- 50:46just like it was, it was making upwards.
- 50:49Yeah, I don't even know. Well, no.
- 50:51Prime, weirdly puritanical, did not want the word utters to be
- 50:56written on. This.
- 50:56Yeah, you said it's just like. The letter T like it just kept
- 50:59saying like mess of the bull, get the T.
- 51:01Get the T, get the T Yeah, I don't.
- 51:04I don't. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense
- 51:06to me. But yeah, it it was all over the
- 51:08place. It makes it like if you want to
- 51:11go crazy with your viewing, then you can go with that and you'll
- 51:15go off the rails pretty hard pretty fast.
- 51:17We're we're caption people just cuz it helps with like audio
- 51:20processing. Fortunately, like it's not a
- 51:23deal breaker for us if there was somebody that legitimately
- 51:27depended on captions. They're going to be at a WASP.
- 51:30Yeah, it's going to be very confusing.
- 51:32Yeah, unfortunately. OK.
- 51:34Well then let's give it our rating.
- 51:36What do you rate this? I'm gonna give it again.
- 51:39I'm biased. I'm gonna give it 9 1/2. 9 1/2
- 51:41OK, give us 7 1/2. Starting average 8.5.
- 51:46Hey, we're still above IMDb. Still above IMDb like always.
- 51:49Right on. OK, let's talk about it.
- 51:53We start off with West Virginia and just all of West Virginia.
- 51:58That's just the. Entire stadium right here.
- 52:00We're in West Virginia. We see some hedge Clippers being
- 52:02picked up and shoved in a man's face.
- 52:04And we hear about news reports of these, this killing spree,
- 52:08these serial killings that are happening.
- 52:10Yeah. We see another man's head get
- 52:12slammed with pants. Somebody's eyes get pulled out
- 52:16in the park. Think a guy's face gets ripped
- 52:18off too? And then a throat ripped off.
- 52:20So right away we have like a ton of killings that lead us to
- 52:24Kentucky. Yep, we see Moses asleep in his
- 52:28car. He's there early, but it doesn't
- 52:30matter because he fell asleep. So he's still late to walk in
- 52:33and the security officer has to remind him that he forgot his
- 52:36pants. So we're at Hooper Industries
- 52:39and we have Dave Sheridan, who's the boss of this company.
- 52:43Yes, we we before we get to Dave's office or Mr. Dugan's
- 52:48office, we see Leslie talking to Brian about his divorce and his
- 52:55new girlfriend Amy. Then Moses shows up and they're
- 53:01like joining in on the conversation and Mr. Dugan rocks
- 53:04on up, says that Brian and Moses need to join him in his office
- 53:08to discuss end of your corporate layoffs, basically.
- 53:13And while he's in there, his wife, Ruth Ruth calls and
- 53:16they're all hearing she's talking about her vaginal cream.
- 53:20She's accusing Mr. Dugan of moving the cream and he's
- 53:24denying it. And poster Rose is just there in
- 53:27the background. Stephanie, I think is her name,
- 53:28yes. Yeah, it's never a good time for
- 53:30vaginitis, and I think that's wisdom that we should all take
- 53:33with us. Yeah, this is probably one of
- 53:35the weirdest fucking meetings that I could ever say I've
- 53:39witnessed in a film because like, it goes from that to like,
- 53:44Moses, who is talking about. He's pointing out how little
- 53:47shame he has. Yeah, he's, he's talking about
- 53:50how I, he's like, it's fine. Like I struggle myself, like I
- 53:53can barely come and. He's got low testosterone.
- 53:55Yeah, and they're like, what are you talking about?
- 53:56He's like here, let me let me just.
- 53:59So he just picks up the lotion bottle and just like starts
- 54:01squirting it and he just puts it up like it's his Dick and he
- 54:04just they're squirting it from there and it's just like.
- 54:05It's a haunting visual. It's it's so funny though, I I
- 54:10like this part a lot and I like to wear and then.
- 54:13This is where Mr. Dugan's like I need you guys to be the
- 54:16witnesses, to be separated. I like how he's like, you're
- 54:19gonna have to clean it up. And then what's was like, No,
- 54:22no, I'll clean that. Up, I see Leslie talking to
- 54:26Samantha. Yeah, Samantha has an owl
- 54:29sanctuary that she posted about online, and she's also on Only
- 54:31Fans, so she's got three jobs. Samantha's busy.
- 54:35She says she'd rather get stabbed with a giant pair of
- 54:38scissors than have to go to Mr. Dugan's meeting.
- 54:40So her and Leslie decide they're gonna act like they didn't see
- 54:43the e-mail. We do discuss a little bit about
- 54:46Leslie's issue that she's come to refer advice for, saying that
- 54:49she learned some information about somebody and it's making
- 54:53her look at him differently. And Samantha thinks it's Brian.
- 54:58Yeah, everybody thinks, yeah, they've been friends for a
- 55:00really long time and people are picking up some stuff.
- 55:03And it doesn't help that Leslie keeps referring to Brian's
- 55:05girlfriend Amy as what's her face?
- 55:07Yeah, yeah. It feels very backhanded.
- 55:09Yeah. So we now call.
- 55:13So Dylan calls a meeting for everybody, and she pretends like
- 55:16she didn't get the e-mail because she was in somebody
- 55:18else's office. So she's going to go do like
- 55:20Wesley's going to go do her own thing.
- 55:23Meanwhile, we see a mom at her house who is forcing her
- 55:28daughter into the car because she's worried about something.
- 55:30Yeah, she was like, you need to get in the car, we need to
- 55:32leave. I'll explain once we're with
- 55:34your older sister. And Kate says that they should
- 55:38just call Uncle Mike and her own's like there's no time.
- 55:43And then she realizes that she left herself in the garage, so
- 55:45she's going to run in and get it.
- 55:46Kate's getting a call from Leslie, but she is concerned
- 55:51about how long her mom is taking in the garage.
- 55:52So she goes to check on her, finds her mom suspended on like
- 55:56some workout equipment and she's dead.
- 55:58And then the doctor's right behind her and kills her too.
- 56:01Saws her head. Yeah.
- 56:02And that's a really brutal kill. I like this one a lot.
- 56:05Yeah, and Leslie none the wiser. It was a voicemail saying, hey,
- 56:10I know we talked about doing something tonight, but I can't.
- 56:12I've got class and I said I was going to meet Brian and Moses
- 56:14out. And then tomorrow I'm stuck
- 56:16going to this New Year's Eve party.
- 56:17So maybe, maybe later in the week.
- 56:19Yeah. Which is going to be a real
- 56:22bummer for her to find out everything that happened.
- 56:25Yeah, after getting out of the hospital.
- 56:26Yeah, wait. What the fuck are you talking
- 56:27about? Yeah.
- 56:29OK, so we now are at the meeting room, the scene that you were
- 56:35in. Yes, everybody's being told that
- 56:38they have to trim some of the fat around here, that they got
- 56:41to get rid of some people, and he's just naming people off on
- 56:44the list, calling out people that argue with him.
- 56:47Like what's your name? He calls on one guy's name.
- 56:49He's like shouldn't have said your name.
- 56:51Yeah, you should have known better.
- 56:55So yeah, that that scene and we already talked about it quite a
- 56:58bit, but it was it was a lot of fun.
- 57:00It's cool. I mean, this is also where we
- 57:01get Jeffrey Reddick's character, too, which is cool.
- 57:05Yeah. So everybody's fired, or a lot
- 57:07of people are. Fired.
- 57:07Yeah. So a list of people were pulled
- 57:10to a separate conference room, and then that's where they get
- 57:12in there and they find out that they're definitely fired.
- 57:16So were you fired? So you still have a job?
- 57:20Yeah, I don't have a boss, you know, but hey, head of HR is
- 57:25gone. Maybe I can.
- 57:26Maybe. Maybe you got your.
- 57:27Yeah, There you go. Right.
- 57:29There. But Speaking of head of HR,
- 57:32Norman basically threatens Mr. Dugan, which is a bold move on
- 57:36your way out, especially if you're wanting to collect
- 57:39unemployment. Jeffrey Reddick really does
- 57:42deliver this with all kinds of hate.
- 57:44He. Does.
- 57:45You can just like see it. I'm pretty sure they filmed this
- 57:48the same day, so it had been a long day for.
- 57:51So he was really channeling that right there though.
- 57:53Yeah, because a lot of those people that were there, like
- 57:55they just shot their scenes all on that same day.
- 57:58I. Remember they had the film a lot
- 57:59of this really fast because they only had listened day for like
- 58:02that weekend, didn't they? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:05So it was it was a lot of back-to-back to back.
- 58:07So some of that is acting, some of that probably is like, Oh my
- 58:11God, it's I hope you. Die.
- 58:14Yeah. So yeah, they're all fired.
- 58:16Yeah, Leslie is at a diner or cafe.
- 58:20It's a cafe. It doesn't look like it's a very
- 58:23fancy diner, if that's a diner. Like it's kind of like diner
- 58:26booths because cafes normally have like booths tables, not
- 58:29booths. No, that's true.
- 58:30That's true. I don't know.
- 58:31It doesn't matter because we've got to have a Halloween homage.
- 58:34Yes. We got to see the doctor
- 58:36standing outside and then she's got to go outside and then he
- 58:38does the thing by the hedges. Yeah, where he just disappears.
- 58:43I like it. Yeah.
- 58:45So we she goes out on the streets and she's walking home.
- 58:50I think she's walking somewhere. She's walking.
- 58:52It's Owensboro. Yeah, and.
- 58:53There's only a few ways you can go.
- 58:55That's true, Yeah. And she again sees the doctor
- 58:58just kind of doing the same thing.
- 58:59It's very Michael Myers. Right here, for sure.
- 59:01Absolutely. So we now see Mr. Flanagan the
- 59:04cop. He is sitting in his cop car.
- 59:07Mr. Flanagan is Mike. Officer Flanagan or Mike?
- 59:10They never say both of his names in the same like his first and
- 59:13last name in. Mike Flanagan, the horror
- 59:17director and writer in the car himself recording a video with
- 59:22that I thought for a second was a suicide video, but it.
- 59:25Kind of it comes across that way.
- 59:26Not to be too morbid, but basically he's like, I've done
- 59:29things I'm not proud of. I've written you all each a
- 59:31letter explaining my actions. I'm so sorry.
- 59:34Unfortunately, most of those people are alive to receive the
- 59:37letters. Kinda sucks, maybe he already
- 59:40killed them. Yeah.
- 59:42Nah. He gets a call and it's from his
- 59:46partner. She's going to join him at the
- 59:48warehouse where he's at. And we see him put on red
- 59:49gloves, which is important to note because the doctor was
- 59:53wearing red gloves when he was talking Leslie.
- 59:56And then we see in his like little visor the thing you don't
- 1:00:00have on your driver's side. Anymore.
- 1:00:01Yeah, the thing that boxes. On Yeah, there's a picture of
- 1:00:05Kate and Leslie, so this must be the Uncle Mike that Kate was
- 1:00:08referring to and why everybody kept saying that they should
- 1:00:12call him. So backup arrives and apparently
- 1:00:17his thing was he was going to check out this warehouse.
- 1:00:20He's supposed to, we found out later, he was supposed to plant
- 1:00:22some evidence. He did not know there's was
- 1:00:24going to be a setup for multiple murders.
- 1:00:27And you know, things kind of went off the rail.
- 1:00:30She was pulled in. He was not ready for her to be
- 1:00:33pulled into all of this. None of this went the way it was
- 1:00:35supposed to. And it's a really, like I said,
- 1:00:38this is like the first moment of real dread I felt watching this
- 1:00:42movie 'cause they go into this room, see somebody breathing,
- 1:00:45pull this cloth off at the table and they're trying to get him
- 1:00:48unhooked. And then the saw blades start
- 1:00:49going, and then we hear it on a bunch of other tables that are
- 1:00:53similarly covered and lumpy. Yeah.
- 1:00:55Yeah, I I am glad that they confirmed that this was saw
- 1:00:59inspired because it just, it looks like a SAW trap.
- 1:01:02It also has a cop being dirty. Yeah, very saw.
- 1:01:06Very saw Jigsaw's never targeted cops.
- 1:01:09What are you talking about? Well.
- 1:01:10Jigsaw's never killed either, So what are we talking?
- 1:01:14About we see Mr. Dugan still in the office and he runs into the
- 1:01:19doctor in the hall and he mouths off for a minute and then
- 1:01:23realizes, oh shit, she's about to go down.
- 1:01:25He goes, I was a track star and he throws his briefcase at him
- 1:01:29and then trips and docks himself out and it's great.
- 1:01:32He wakes up tattooed chair and he sees the doctor down the
- 1:01:36hallway and the doctor has a crossbow with a little scalpel
- 1:01:40used as the arrow. What brand crossbow?
- 1:01:43You won't ever tell, Yeah. So he shoots him once, hits him
- 1:01:48in the shoulder and then he fires 2 more times and gets him
- 1:01:50in the head. Yes, we see Officer Mike being
- 1:01:55really hostile to some federal agents that showed up.
- 1:01:58Like needlessly hostile. Like painting yourself as an
- 1:02:03accomplice. It's the whole trope of like the
- 1:02:05cop being super territorial like this is my case, back off.
- 1:02:10I will say though, like the I don't know about local police in
- 1:02:13Owensboro, I do know that the state sheriffs in Kentucky are
- 1:02:18kind of uptight assholes. How do you know?
- 1:02:21Is it because of work? No, no.
- 1:02:24I've. You have you had run insurance
- 1:02:27with the wall? I'll tell you this, just cut it
- 1:02:29off and the sheriff goes, ma'am, I'm the state police.
- 1:02:33I like I can't just let this go. I'm gonna I'm gonna cut
- 1:02:38everything except for the ma'am. I'm a state.
- 1:02:40Police. Nobody except for one person
- 1:02:46listening knows what that whole story is.
- 1:02:49OK, well that explains. Everything.
- 1:02:51That's how I know, yeah. And then they're also
- 1:02:55questioning how there are that many people that were in the
- 1:02:58warehouse and there are no missing persons reports.
- 1:03:01Yeah, they also mentioned that like there were bodies that were
- 1:03:04six months decayed. Yeah, which it's been there for
- 1:03:07a while now. They're calling it a House of
- 1:03:09horrors, and I wish they had called it a warehouse of
- 1:03:12horrors. And then I thought about it and
- 1:03:13I said I wish they would have called it a warehouse of 1000
- 1:03:15corpses. So many opportunities, so many
- 1:03:20opportunities. PJ, you fucked.
- 1:03:21PJ, I know you don't need help zinging up a script, but you
- 1:03:24know, if you ever want somebody to pass through and give you
- 1:03:27one, one more zinger, one more pun, I'll do it right here.
- 1:03:33So we see Jeffrey Reddick now, and he stumbles upon Mr. Dugan's
- 1:03:38dead body. He's like, Oh my God, something
- 1:03:40awesome. I mean something awful.
- 1:03:41Yeah, he yeah, he's trying to tell them about 911, but before
- 1:03:44he can say anything, his head full owl, you know?
- 1:03:48Man should have had a log truck kill him dude.
- 1:03:52I mean, he's like, come on. That would have been, you know,
- 1:03:55all of the homages we have in this movie.
- 1:03:58We've been nodded. No, boy.
- 1:04:00Most well known franchise. We get a Christine reference in
- 1:04:03this. We could have Christine this
- 1:04:04year. We could have just had a log
- 1:04:05truck drive through the building and have it be done.
- 1:04:08OK, Eric, again, you fucked up. Oh, Eric is playing for that
- 1:04:13one, not PJ. OK.
- 1:04:14Their team. Yeah, OK, so we're at a bar now.
- 1:04:18It's Brian, Moses and Leslie. Well, just Brian and Leslie
- 1:04:22first. Moses shows up here in a second.
- 1:04:24Yeah, Leslie is laughing at Moses jokes, and Brian kind of
- 1:04:30calls her out on it. And then they kind of swap out
- 1:04:32going to the bathroom. So then it shows Moses and Brian
- 1:04:35at the table, and Moses is telling Brian like, hey, you're
- 1:04:38really missing out on Leslie. And he's like, no, we've been
- 1:04:42friends since high school. I don't want to ruin the
- 1:04:43friendship. I understand that like she like
- 1:04:46his girlfriend keeps missing shit because she's working, but
- 1:04:49like he seems to be understood. Everybody's like, dude, you got
- 1:04:53a problem with this nurse? And he's like, no, it sucks, but
- 1:04:56I kind of get it. Like, no, bro, trust me, you
- 1:04:59need to get out of that. They're basically being like
- 1:05:02Redditors to him. You got a divorcer.
- 1:05:05Weren't you married? Yeah, yeah, no the whole like
- 1:05:10you should break up with her cuz she's unavailable that I don't
- 1:05:12agree with. But we have made fun of friends,
- 1:05:15significant others that are always conveniently busy.
- 1:05:19That's true. It's.
- 1:05:21An imaginary person, Yeah. But you know, this is just it.
- 1:05:25She's a nurse. It's a hard.
- 1:05:26It's a hard gig. Yeah.
- 1:05:27Essential wise. Is she the same one at the end
- 1:05:30of the movie? That's what I thought, yeah.
- 1:05:31OK. OK, where am I at on here?
- 1:05:35Oh the we see the feds are staking out the warehouse and
- 1:05:38they talk about foreshadowing. Yeah, foreshadowing.
- 1:05:42You know, the thing that you do where you discuss something
- 1:05:44that's gonna happen. If you don't know what
- 1:05:47foreshadowing is, go listen to the Jacko commentary or our
- 1:05:50episode covering Jacko because the director went into detail
- 1:05:54there. Watch the watch like the
- 1:05:56highlighted Jacko commentary clips on YouTube.
- 1:05:59You can just leave it at that and you're welcome.
- 1:06:02You don't even need to watch the rest of the movie.
- 1:06:03You can listen to our episode on it though.
- 1:06:05Yeah, because we talk about it all there plenty.
- 1:06:07So it's now. Saturday the 31st.
- 1:06:10Yeah, we have Stephanie Foots, Rosa's character.
- 1:06:13She's at the office one day off, just cleaning up.
- 1:06:17And she's arguing with somebody on the phone that that's not her
- 1:06:19job. And she goes, no, it is, it is
- 1:06:21my job. She hears a sound in the
- 1:06:23bathroom and she goes in there and I don't know why.
- 1:06:25Like, I get more excited about this.
- 1:06:26I'm going to actually see myself on screen.
- 1:06:27I'm always like, I peed in that bathroom.
- 1:06:29You said it as soon as we saw it, like I've been in that
- 1:06:31bathroom, did some shit in there.
- 1:06:33I didn't do some shit, I did some pee.
- 1:06:35I did some pee in there and. You can't say the phrase I did
- 1:06:45some. Shit, yeah, you're talking.
- 1:06:46About a bathroom. Well, at least you didn't do
- 1:06:48this. Interpretation for that.
- 1:06:49You're right. OK, You didn't also get your
- 1:06:52guts all over the place in there either, because.
- 1:06:54This is a little bit funny though, because Felissa is very
- 1:06:58New Jersey and very tan and the prop that they were using for
- 1:07:03the needle injection and then the scalpel slice.
- 1:07:06It was somebody that was very pale.
- 1:07:07It ate it. Spray.
- 1:07:08Tank, I had a Kentucky body. Yeah, that was not a New Jersey
- 1:07:11body, unfortunately, but it's still a really cool scene none
- 1:07:14the less. So the doctor takes his scalpel
- 1:07:17and he cuts open a little incision on her tummy.
- 1:07:20He was kind enough to give her a local anaesthetic, did he?
- 1:07:25Yeah. Because she's.
- 1:07:25I can't feel that. I can't feel it.
- 1:07:27I thought she was just saying that because, like, she was
- 1:07:30like, you know, that like scene in the rest.
- 1:07:32I was like, you know what they say when you don't feel it, It's
- 1:07:34not too good. I don't feel it, Yeah.
- 1:07:37Yeah, well, instead she has pig intestines pulled out of her.
- 1:07:42Yeah, and flushed down the toilet.
- 1:07:43Flushed down the toilet. Yeah, it's pretty, pretty
- 1:07:45gnarly. Honestly, with how much toilet
- 1:07:47paper he wads up on the end of the intestine before throwing it
- 1:07:50in the toilet, I'm surprised it didn't just immediately clog.
- 1:07:54Can you imagine a different edit of this where the toilet is
- 1:07:56clogged so it doesn't fill out her intestines?
- 1:07:58I mean, realistically speaking, it would have like whoever is
- 1:08:01coming there to clean up that mess is, I'm sorry, that's gonna
- 1:08:04be a really nasty one cuz you're gonna have to get into the
- 1:08:07plumbing to get all of that out. Yeah, it's just disgusting.
- 1:08:11OK, so now it's night, night time, it's office party time.
- 1:08:16We got Brian who is just a showing up at the the place.
- 1:08:20I love how only our main trio gets to be in their casual
- 1:08:24clothes and everybody else is still.
- 1:08:25Wearing their industries. Polo.
- 1:08:27People are dedicated, yeah. People are saying.
- 1:08:30We see now Moses and Leslie and I think Brian's here they're.
- 1:08:34We see Leslie, Samantha and Lance are arguing about New
- 1:08:37Year's Eve horror. Movies, that's it.
- 1:08:38Yeah. Yeah, they're.
- 1:08:39Having a big debate about how there's never been a good New
- 1:08:41Year's Eve horror movie. We didn't get a chance because
- 1:08:44we're using free software, but I really need PJ and Eric to be
- 1:08:48aware of a little darling film we watch every year called New
- 1:08:52Year, New You. It's a Hulu one.
- 1:08:54It's a Hulu one. We talked about it too.
- 1:08:56There's. But I do agree that New Year's
- 1:08:58Eve is definitely a holiday that needs a little bit more love
- 1:09:00from the genre. Yeah, especially like you have
- 1:09:02banger after banger of Christmas horror movie.
- 1:09:05It's so good. We need something that week
- 1:09:07between Christmas and New Year's.
- 1:09:08I We need to see New Fear, New Year's Eve evil and terror.
- 1:09:13Train's OK. It's OK.
- 1:09:16It's got David Copperfield. It's OK.
- 1:09:20Mike and his partner are watching the Uber party.
- 1:09:25They're just trying to keep an eye on things.
- 1:09:27He's especially worried about Leslie and the partners, like
- 1:09:31kind of asking and he's just not willing to say a.
- 1:09:34Whole lot Is this where she pulls out the flask of?
- 1:09:37Indeed, yes. Yeah, OK.
- 1:09:40Leslie runs into her ex at the party, I guess he works there
- 1:09:46and she calls him out for cheating on her and he tries to
- 1:09:50say that. Nothing happened.
- 1:09:52Nothing. Happened, but she's like, I'm
- 1:09:54not, we're not doing this. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:58If you're in a sexual situation with somebody and you don't just
- 1:10:01say no one get out of there. It's kind of it's not a good.
- 1:10:05Look for you man who gets caught on their own Ring doorbell
- 1:10:08camera. Yeah, it's just yeah, Come on,
- 1:10:10bud. Mike and his partner, the cops,
- 1:10:15they find the doctor and they get out after him, follow him,
- 1:10:19and they've got him cornered and the feds are watching them.
- 1:10:23So we got like this whole like watching, going down.
- 1:10:27And yeah, exactly. Mike was suppose he calls out
- 1:10:32the doctor. He's like, I was only supposed
- 1:10:34to plant the evidence in exchange for you leaving my
- 1:10:36family alone. I didn't know that you were
- 1:10:39going to be killing. You know, we're hearing all of
- 1:10:41this go on. And then we hear some shots.
- 1:10:44Just a bang for yeah and then the FBI people.
- 1:10:46The feds come running just in time to hear his partner tell
- 1:10:49the doctor. I didn't know that you were
- 1:10:52working with Mike also. Yeah, she shot him in the head.
- 1:10:57And yeah, they got some double crossing going on.
- 1:10:59Here And then the doctor kills her and the feds shoot him.
- 1:11:05One of the feds shoots him and he's wearing a vest so it
- 1:11:09doesn't really do much, so then he's able to kill them both.
- 1:11:12They they have an argument like you shouldn't have killed him.
- 1:11:14Like, I mean, at that point where like he killed the
- 1:11:16officer, I think you're justified to start shooting the
- 1:11:19person. Yeah, he's, he's using deadly
- 1:11:21force. Yeah, man, while they're arguing
- 1:11:23that he kind of does a Michael Myers here and just, like, stabs
- 1:11:26both of them real quick. Yeah, Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 1:11:30So let's see. Yeah, he goes outside the
- 1:11:32building and he's walking towards the front of the
- 1:11:35building. Some guy comes out.
- 1:11:36He just wants to smoke. All he wants is to smoke.
- 1:11:39He compliments the guy's outfit. I like to say the doctor's in
- 1:11:42and then he gets killed. Yeah, that's cool.
- 1:11:44He was complimenting you, man. Yeah, you could have, just like
- 1:11:47you could have been the cool bad guy and like just let the one
- 1:11:49cool guy. He let, No, he does let one guy.
- 1:11:52It's the guy that's all coked up and spitting up soup beans.
- 1:11:55Yeah, he lets him survive. Soup beans to be speed up on
- 1:11:58him. It's like, oh God, if I go in
- 1:12:00and try said like, I'm going to get soup beans.
- 1:12:01Yeah, that's fucking gross. Nobody wants that.
- 1:12:03That's that's your lesson right there to survive a horror movie,
- 1:12:06have soup beans in your mouth ready to be speed up at all
- 1:12:09times look. So Leslie, Brian and Moses, they
- 1:12:13have a little meeting, a come together moment because Leslie
- 1:12:16wants to tell them all about seeing the doctor last night.
- 1:12:18She was like, hey, I was stopped.
- 1:12:20I'm feeling kind of weird. And they're like, actually,
- 1:12:23we've both had run insurance as well.
- 1:12:26So Moses talks about on the 29th, he was drunk at the bar
- 1:12:30and basically gets cut off and he's trying to hit on the
- 1:12:33bartender and offering to take her in his red Miata.
- 1:12:37And then Mike, he's at the bar. This is why the doctor was
- 1:12:41there. He tells him, like, son, I know
- 1:12:46you're not about to drink and drive.
- 1:12:47And then Moses storms off. Anyway, he he made a really
- 1:12:53funny joke because he tripped over a chair and he made a joke
- 1:12:55about a bench. Bench please.
- 1:12:56Bench, please. That's what it was.
- 1:12:57Yeah, that was really funny. So he's going out to his car.
- 1:13:00The doctor's there, just kind of standing near his car.
- 1:13:03And the closer he gets, the doctor more seems like he's
- 1:13:06going to get him. And he runs after him.
- 1:13:08Moses runs. He hides behind another vehicle.
- 1:13:10And that's when Mike pops up and he's like, listen, I'm just, I'm
- 1:13:12just going to give you a ride home, but you have to sit in the
- 1:13:15back. Yeah.
- 1:13:15And then smart, he probably saved his life by saying, Nah,
- 1:13:19I'm gonna walk home. Yeah.
- 1:13:20So he he walks home and said. On the 30th, the next night,
- 1:13:24Brian was at a restaurant being set up by his girlfriend.
- 1:13:26The worst girlfriend ever, apparently.
- 1:13:28Yep. And she, she just, she had to
- 1:13:33cover because there was somebody out for a funeral.
- 1:13:35Somebody was out sick. She was like, people are still
- 1:13:38at the hospital. People are saying.
- 1:13:39People are saying, like, I got an important job.
- 1:13:41Yeah, I need to be here. Yeah.
- 1:13:43So he's like, that's all good. I support you.
- 1:13:45I'm not. I'm not delusional about you
- 1:13:48being able to spend every single waking second with me.
- 1:13:51I support your career. And he heads back out to his
- 1:13:56car, and, of course, he sees the doctor on the sidewalk.
- 1:13:58Yeah. And he runs to his car.
- 1:14:00And there's a lot of secluded alleys in Ellisboro, apparently.
- 1:14:04Yeah, there is, yeah. I this is like right downtown,
- 1:14:07which is kind of cool. Like especially I'm sure if
- 1:14:09you're from the area. Yeah.
- 1:14:11Being able to see this right here, they have that moment
- 1:14:13where like he runs across the street and a car like stops.
- 1:14:16I wonder if that was like done intentionally or if that was
- 1:14:19like somebody actually driving because I can't imagine they
- 1:14:21actually shut down the roads for this.
- 1:14:22Yeah, I have to imagine. Yeah.
- 1:14:26Either way, that's cool. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:28So yeah, this is, this is another really great moment cuz
- 1:14:31he gets into his car and he's about to back up and then he's
- 1:14:34got one of those rear cameras. Yeah.
- 1:14:36And the doctor just doesn't does.
- 1:14:37A finger wag. I guess he a very purge purge.
- 1:14:42Yeah, yeah, I could feel that. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:45And he drives off, he gets away. So we see the doctor back at the
- 1:14:49party back in present time. He kills a group in the break
- 1:14:53room with exes. And then he a reference that we
- 1:14:59now get. We hadn't seen Die Hard when we
- 1:15:01first saw this movie. Yeah, but we have since.
- 1:15:04And so the whole like, I need another patient.
- 1:15:06Ho, ho, ho. Yeah.
- 1:15:08As this Die Hard reference. Yay.
- 1:15:12We a lot more people get killed. Yeah, there's so many guys.
- 1:15:15In the scene, so many things are happening, not all at once.
- 1:15:18I couldn't write down every single death no as it was
- 1:15:20happening, so I just wrote more were killed.
- 1:15:22And then this is also where we get the triple neck scalpel.
- 1:15:26Yeah, yeah, cuz the guy's like sweet costume dude or whatever
- 1:15:29like that. He just like, kills all three of
- 1:15:31them. Leslie's ex and someone named
- 1:15:34Nancy are making out in the break room and she's like let me
- 1:15:37call him my boyfriend Ned. This still went in on this, but
- 1:15:41they both get chloroformed. Yeah, that, that seems funny.
- 1:15:45He's like. Who's Ned?
- 1:15:47Usually I don't know, like he's my boyfriend.
- 1:15:49Don't worry, he gets the best blowjob.
- 1:15:50So like, how do you know? I mean.
- 1:15:55People are saying, people are saying.
- 1:15:56Yeah, they wake up at a table. The guy has his tongue like.
- 1:16:02Clamped. Yes, it's clamped and it's
- 1:16:05pulled out and the doctor like cuts a little bit, pours some
- 1:16:08iodine on it and then once he is a butcher knife for it, but he
- 1:16:13ends up killing Nancy with the butcher knife.
- 1:16:16Keeps like faking out the guy, like acting like he's going to
- 1:16:17get the tongue and then he's just like right into her neck.
- 1:16:20You know, honestly, like it would have been bad to see his
- 1:16:22tongue cut all the way off, but something about it only being
- 1:16:25partially cut is even more sadistic.
- 1:16:27Yeah, I mean, you could probably still say that the you're going
- 1:16:29to have a bad scar and. Trauma.
- 1:16:31Yeah. It's going to be a rough time.
- 1:16:34Brian is in the bathroom and Leslie and Moses are talking.
- 1:16:39They see the doctor in the hall, and then they see the doctor
- 1:16:41kill two people in the hall as Brian comes out like they're
- 1:16:46kind of separated, like he's on the other end of the hall.
- 1:16:49The two of them are this and the doctors in the middle as.
- 1:16:51Soon as Ace Ventura. And so he's like, you guys run,
- 1:16:54I'll find you. So they kind of split up that
- 1:16:57way. Moses and Leslie run into the
- 1:16:58break room where Ned, I guess this is Ned of the famous
- 1:17:02blowjobs. Blowjob Ned if you will.
- 1:17:05He is passed out. I don't think he would have
- 1:17:07given a good blowjob. Probably not, no.
- 1:17:11He spits his suit beans all over Moses.
- 1:17:15Yeah. They're trying to ask Ned where
- 1:17:18the phones are because he was supposed to be collecting them
- 1:17:20before the party started, but he is just too foregone.
- 1:17:24Samantha and Lance are attacked out in the hall, not killed,
- 1:17:28though they do manage to get away.
- 1:17:32Brian is trying to find where Leslie and Moses are, and
- 1:17:36somebody pops up unexpectedly. He punches.
- 1:17:39It's Ruth. It's Dugan.
- 1:17:40'S wife, it's Dugan's wife, yes. And she said that he never came
- 1:17:44home last night, but he's been talking about this stupid party
- 1:17:46for weeks. So she figured she would come
- 1:17:47here. The front door was locked.
- 1:17:50The front door is locked now. It wasn't when she came in.
- 1:17:53So they're like OK, well we're going to try and go for a
- 1:17:55different door. And as they're going around the
- 1:17:57corner, Ruth gets hit by a baseball bat that Lance is
- 1:18:00holding. I like how Ruth is just head
- 1:18:03trauma after head trauma in this.
- 1:18:05She's going through some stuff. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:07She doesn't have time to get too bad a headache, though, because
- 1:18:12the doctor appears and he ends up grabbing her and smashing her
- 1:18:16on the window in that shot that Eric was referencing in her
- 1:18:20interview. Yeah.
- 1:18:22So they, they're split up again, but Moses and Leslie, they have
- 1:18:28their moment here where like he's like, hey, I got to say
- 1:18:31something. And she basically guesses
- 1:18:33everything that he was going to say like that she he's like
- 1:18:36secretly in love with her and all that stuff.
- 1:18:38And you know, they, they just have their moment there and they
- 1:18:40share a little kiss. Yeah.
- 1:18:42And she and he was like, how did you know?
- 1:18:43And she goes, you left your phone at my desk.
- 1:18:45No. Yeah, who is texting?
- 1:18:47Because clearly it wasn't Brian because we saw a shot of him and
- 1:18:49Brian alone earlier. And it's not like he was saying,
- 1:18:52man, I'm so in love with Leslie. He was like, why aren't you
- 1:18:54going through Leslie? That's not cool for her to go
- 1:18:56through his phone. He.
- 1:18:58Left it on her desk. Does that, Is that your role?
- 1:19:01You leave it on a desk. It's it's mine to Snoop through.
- 1:19:04There's a lot more context that's important, but if it was
- 1:19:07like a friend's phone and I saw it like what the?
- 1:19:08Stuff, you know? Wow.
- 1:19:10OK, I leave my phone around you sometimes.
- 1:19:13Maybe I won't. Listen anymore, it is 2026.
- 1:19:18If you do not have a lock on your phone or if you have a lock
- 1:19:21and you have shared that that PIN with me, all bets are off.
- 1:19:25All right, well, hey, no secrets.
- 1:19:28No secrets around Jesse. OK, so they have their moment
- 1:19:33there. This is where the doctor kills
- 1:19:36Samantha. Though she did her own
- 1:19:38foreshadowing earlier when she said she'd rather be stabbed by
- 1:19:40scissors and she got stabbed by two giant pairs of scissors and
- 1:19:44then Lance gets killed. Owed.
- 1:19:46The killed owed, Yeah. Brian runs into Moses downstairs
- 1:19:51as Leslie is trying to call 911. There's like an emergency phone
- 1:19:54down there, but the exit doors are change shut.
- 1:19:57The doctor approaches and everybody's like trying to take
- 1:20:00their chances to hit him. So Brian starts off hitting him.
- 1:20:04He gets cut and thrown back. Moses tries and hit him.
- 1:20:08He's he's trying to get stuff to cut the chain and tell Leslie to
- 1:20:12go. He doesn't want to leave Brian
- 1:20:13behind. And Leslie doesn't want to leave
- 1:20:15either of them behind. And they're each grabbing a leg.
- 1:20:19Yeah. And at one point, the doctor
- 1:20:21just like. They're stabbing Brian.
- 1:20:23He's like a pincushion. And get out of here cuz he had
- 1:20:27some bolt cutters or whatever were like hidden behind boxes
- 1:20:30that were revealed. So she takes the opportunity to
- 1:20:34finally just cut loose and get out of there.
- 1:20:36And she does. She runs into a police officer,
- 1:20:40She's being put into an ambulance and told that all of
- 1:20:42the survivors are on their way to Owensboro Memorial.
- 1:20:44But we hear the other cops and feds talking about how basically
- 1:20:48there was only one other survivor and it was Ned.
- 1:20:50Yeah, we're also seeing that the doctor is in the car and he's
- 1:20:54watching. Yeah.
- 1:20:55And they said there was no trace of another person at that point.
- 1:20:57Yeah, hit the hospital. We hear the PA call for a doctor
- 1:21:01fears is. That the same one.
- 1:21:05It's the same guy. It's the same guy cuz we see a
- 1:21:08doctor walking into the trauma Bay wearing his fancy little
- 1:21:11suit, puts on his doctor jacket over it.
- 1:21:13And Amy, the nurse who's definitely real and at work.
- 1:21:16Yeah. It's like, hey, can you maybe
- 1:21:18just talk to her? She might not need surgery or
- 1:21:20anything, but we are trying to like address some of her issues.
- 1:21:23She's going to need a psych consultation as well.
- 1:21:26And she sees his shoes. Yeah, she recognizes.
- 1:21:30This. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:21:31So she runs out, climbs through a window, and then basically
- 1:21:37it's like, come get me, motherfucker.
- 1:21:38Yeah, she turns around, looks through the window.
- 1:21:40The doctor is there, maskless, but we don't see his face
- 1:21:44because it's strategically hidden.
- 1:21:47And yeah, they have their old stare down.
- 1:21:49And that's the movie. That's the movie, Yeah, I might
- 1:21:53keep it a nine and a half. Like I said, I'm biased,
- 1:21:55personally biased. It's just going to be a thing.
- 1:21:57OK, that's fair. I'm keeping, you know, I'll make
- 1:22:00it 8. Let's bump it to 8.
- 1:22:03Yeah, this is a good time. Like, it's a fun movie.
- 1:22:05It's a fun slasher, especially if you are into holiday horror
- 1:22:09movies. Like, this is a great one to
- 1:22:10have on for New Year's Eve for sure.
- 1:22:13Yeah, good time. What do we think?
- 1:22:16Italia thought, Because I can tell you she was pretty sleepy
- 1:22:18at the beginning. We paused halfway through to
- 1:22:20give them meals and then she was very worried about our kitten.
- 1:22:24I think Talia. Talia loves a good party night.
- 1:22:28She's a little sick of party nights right now, but.
- 1:22:31Yeah, it's been a lot of party nights in a row lately for her,
- 1:22:34but I do think that she would have fun with the party.
- 1:22:37She wouldn't like all of the shenanigans.
- 1:22:40She's not pro shenanigans. No, there's a lot of shenanigans
- 1:22:43that goes on. Here.
- 1:22:44Too many shenanigans for sure. And she doesn't.
- 1:22:47She's not big on masks either. She's not.
- 1:22:50Or big people. Yeah, and the Doctor is a big.
- 1:22:52Person There's a lot going on and she loves going to the vet.
- 1:22:57Yeah, it's very much a safe place for her, and this is kind
- 1:23:00of ruining this. That's confusing to her that the
- 1:23:02fact that somebody that saves lives kills us.
- 1:23:04Yeah, yeah. It just doesn't make any sense.
- 1:23:06So I think Talia overall with all those things considered, we
- 1:23:11give it an 8. OK, All right, so.
- 1:23:16Zoe's ultimate warrior. Zoe's ultimate warrior.
- 1:23:22I think it would be Moses because she would sniff, vomit
- 1:23:25and be like dog food and she would try and eat it.
- 1:23:29Yeah, probably. OK, I feel like Moses would have
- 1:23:32eaten that stuff had he like not been chased by a killer in that
- 1:23:37moment. Yeah, I think he would have been
- 1:23:39into like some. I feel like he.
- 1:23:41Was going to lick it at least. Yeah, he would have been like,
- 1:23:43this makes me want nachos. Yeah, if they weren't in a life
- 1:23:46or death situation. Yeah, I agree.
- 1:23:48OK, OK. All right, let's see tagline.
- 1:23:54New tagline Stick out your tongue and say die.
- 1:24:00Oh my God, that's good. I like that.
- 1:24:04That's really good. All right, cool.
- 1:24:06We'll pick that. I was personally working on a
- 1:24:10Tears For Fears. That works too.
- 1:24:15OK, all right, Dream sequel. So we do know that they are
- 1:24:19planning on doing 1. We don't have any details on it,
- 1:24:22which I get that from their perspective.
- 1:24:24Yeah, I was wondering myself, like, do they continue this as a
- 1:24:29New Year's movie or do they move holidays?
- 1:24:32Yeah, I wanted to ask, We didn't get a chance to figure out where
- 1:24:35it's going to pick up, if it'll be right after this or if it's
- 1:24:37going to be the next new year, if it's going to be a different
- 1:24:40holiday. Yeah, I personally would love
- 1:24:42the idea of it like some of the lesser celebrated holidays
- 1:24:46getting. Yeah.
- 1:24:47Like or maybe. What's the next holiday that
- 1:24:49comes up that's like not a huge celebrated moon, like maybe like
- 1:24:55Saint Patrick's Day? Dude like a fat Tuesday or
- 1:24:58something. Fat Tuesday.
- 1:25:00Oh my God. Yeah, like.
- 1:25:01We did a Mardi Gras. Maybe that isn't Victor Crowley
- 1:25:06based. You're right.
- 1:25:07We do. Yeah, that's actually a good
- 1:25:09point. Yeah.
- 1:25:12Yeah. OK.
- 1:25:12So like, what are we? What's see happen next?
- 1:25:16I want to see the Doctor balancing his killings and his
- 1:25:20work now that we know he's an actual Doctor.
- 1:25:23Oh yeah, yeah. Like, I want to see you like
- 1:25:25maybe some shit going slightly wrong at work.
- 1:25:27Maybe he's got like like a Munchausen type thing except
- 1:25:31he's a doctor. Let's to continue the SAW thing
- 1:25:34like have it be like Hoffman balance and being a detective
- 1:25:37and being a SAW killer. And he goes on another crazy
- 1:25:40killing spree just like off in bed because like as he starts
- 1:25:43getting cornered. We get the feds and there's
- 1:25:45around like, because they said before, like whoever's doing
- 1:25:48this is experienced, like they, they know what they're doing.
- 1:25:50So they're like now checking out local hospitals and be like
- 1:25:55getting getting traces to this right here.
- 1:25:57And the guy's like having maybe we'll get a reveal of who it is.
- 1:26:00Like the face. Like, I don't know if it's
- 1:26:01supposed to be somebody that we saw how previously in the movie
- 1:26:05or if it's somebody that, you know, knew entirely and they
- 1:26:08just wanted to have a mystery. Or you just don't ever show the
- 1:26:10face at all whenever you do his shots.
- 1:26:14But yeah, you know, I think we got something.
- 1:26:16There OK what would Dom do? What would Dom do?
- 1:26:22First of all, through all man, I was gonna try and do the Mac
- 1:26:26thing. First of all, through Christ all
- 1:26:28things are possible, so jot that down.
- 1:26:30Yeah, so I was gonna make it family.
- 1:26:34Yeah, you know, he would not be OK with the doctor killing
- 1:26:38Mike's family after he made a deal because he's he's had to
- 1:26:42make some tough deals to try and save his family before and that
- 1:26:44didn't work out well. And his words and he does
- 1:26:46murdering after that. Happens.
- 1:26:47He he keeps his word. Yeah, the doctor is not a man of
- 1:26:49his words. So I think that this would
- 1:26:51become weirdly personal for Vin Diesel and Dom because it's not
- 1:26:56his family, but family got fucked.
- 1:26:58With Yeah, he's not about that. You don't fuck with family.
- 1:27:00Yeah, OK. All right.
- 1:27:02Who did you relate to? There was a moment where Moses
- 1:27:08was like pacing back and forth and annoyed Wesley because he
- 1:27:10was pacing. He's like, I gotta do this
- 1:27:12because it helps me think. You.
- 1:27:13You with your shaky foot. It's, well, no, I pace too.
- 1:27:17You're you're doing the shaky foot right now.
- 1:27:19I do the shaky foot like 24/7 like I can't not shake my.
- 1:27:23He does it like in the car while he's driving, if we're at a red
- 1:27:25light, he will shake his legs so hard.
- 1:27:28The whole. Car rocks.
- 1:27:29Does it rock the whole? Car.
- 1:27:30Yes, really. Yes.
- 1:27:32I wonder what people think about me whenever they see me park the
- 1:27:35car. It's like, damn, that guy's
- 1:27:35going. I hope people don't think that
- 1:27:39it's a good thing I don't have tinted.
- 1:27:41Windows because. People would maybe come to that
- 1:27:44conclusion. No, I mean, yeah, I've got my
- 1:27:48nervous sticks. I gotta do.
- 1:27:49OK. What about you?
- 1:27:51I mean, is it cheating for me to say that I relate to Amy?
- 1:27:53No, it's you, Amy Holden. Especially her character is an
- 1:27:57office administrator. It's on the on the tag.
- 1:28:01Which, yeah. Office coordinator.
- 1:28:04And that was my former job. Yeah, former life as an office
- 1:28:07coordinator, so. You know, this is like one of
- 1:28:10the best times for you to choose somebody to relate to, somebody
- 1:28:12that you are. Yeah.
- 1:28:14I mean, you, I really, I really threw myself into that role,
- 1:28:17yeah. You go method.
- 1:28:21I mean, obviously. Yeah, OK.
- 1:28:24All right. Do we have reviews?
- 1:28:26Do you have a? Review.
- 1:28:27Let me see. I put it up last night.
- 1:28:30Let's see if anybody has said anything since.
- 1:28:33No word. Zombie said he saw other
- 1:28:35podcasts talk about it. I said he's never heard of it
- 1:28:38before. Oh, buddy, now's the time.
- 1:28:40Now is the time to check it out because it is a.
- 1:28:43It's a good time. Like, yeah, I for this time of
- 1:28:46year, like New Year's Eve movies are really few and far between.
- 1:28:49So I definitely recommend checking it out.
- 1:28:53So unfortunately, here's the part where we have to talk about
- 1:28:55bad reviews regardless, because this is how it goes.
- 1:28:57This. Is how it goes.
- 1:28:57We like to hear other people's opinions and use it to challenge
- 1:29:01our own beliefs as well. Yeah, so I have went to IMDb and
- 1:29:05I did pull up one of the negative reviews here.
- 1:29:07So this is what somebody had to say.
- 1:29:09So 3 out of 10 it's titled Good Kills terrible, everything else.
- 1:29:13Oh no. The kills of this movie are
- 1:29:15ridiculous but fun. Unfortunately, almost everything
- 1:29:17else about this movie isn't. The writing is awkward, slow,
- 1:29:20and uninspiring. The actors that are good can't
- 1:29:22do anything with the dialogue and the actors that aren't good
- 1:29:25are excruciating to the point that you are checking your watch
- 1:29:28and praying for the scene to end.
- 1:29:30The director doesn't know how to film dialogue and action at the
- 1:29:33same time, so it's lame jokes and talking that takes way too
- 1:29:37long, over and over. When it's just kill after kill.
- 1:29:40The pace and the humor picks up, but never for long and
- 1:29:42definitely not for long enough. The end result is a mess that's
- 1:29:46just no fun. Felissa Rose can't save this
- 1:29:48movie, but she is one of the high points.
- 1:29:50It won't make you scared, it won't keep you guessing, and the
- 1:29:54only real, the only reason you'll be on the edge of your
- 1:29:57sea is the desperate desire to leave one.
- 1:30:00Kudos. The new Fear's Eve theme song
- 1:30:02over the credits. That was pretty damn good.
- 1:30:03It deserves a better movie. That's a little harsh.
- 1:30:06Right there. Yeah, that was definitely a
- 1:30:08little harsh. I think that I, I don't have any
- 1:30:10complaints with the directing. I, I think, I mean dialogue is
- 1:30:15one of those things that PJ is really good at and I think.
- 1:30:18Yeah, I liked it too. Yeah.
- 1:30:19I didn't think that there were any issues like with the the way
- 1:30:22it was directed for both the dialogue and the action either,
- 1:30:24you know, like, I mean, the, the whole point of like stuff like
- 1:30:27this is it's supposed to have peaks and valleys and, you know,
- 1:30:29there's like supposed to be downtime where it's dialogue.
- 1:30:31And I don't feel like there's like any wasted dialogue moments
- 1:30:34or anything in this right here. Like, you know, some of it's
- 1:30:36like either like comedic stuff, like a like a break, yeah,
- 1:30:42contention, or it's something that's at least moving the plot
- 1:30:46a little bit. You know, even if it's like
- 1:30:47subplots, stuff like that, like, you know, I don't feel like
- 1:30:50there's really any waste of time.
- 1:30:52And to juggle all that with the amount of girls that they had to
- 1:30:54do for this movie, I think it's impressive.
- 1:30:56Some people won't like it. Yeah, it's.
- 1:30:59It's just the nature of all art. It's the nature.
- 1:31:02Of all art and especially like more independent stuff like
- 1:31:05it's, it's not going to have that Hollywood shine to it.
- 1:31:08No, and I don't think everything should, especially with horror.
- 1:31:11No, like I think horror definitely thrives in this type
- 1:31:13of thing right here like this. Like for it being a low budget,
- 1:31:18like local production, I thought like, they fucking nailed it.
- 1:31:22Yeah, it looks amazing for what they had and like, you know,
- 1:31:26where they came from and everything like that.
- 1:31:29I mean, obviously we are a little bit biased because we're
- 1:31:31from the area and we know them, but like they know where they
- 1:31:34came from. And like, yeah, how all of this
- 1:31:36came to be definitely does help shape your opinion.
- 1:31:39Like, because I mean, you know, like they they did a really good
- 1:31:43job. I'm impressed with it.
- 1:31:46I think that they did a great job.
- 1:31:48Don't let that review sway you from not checking this out if
- 1:31:51you don't want to, because I think it's a good time and it's
- 1:31:53like only an hour and a half. So it's don't get killing a lot
- 1:31:56of time trying to sing out. Just be sure to watch it, give
- 1:31:59it a fair chance, have fun with it.
- 1:32:02It's it's a movie that you're supposed to have fun with.
- 1:32:05Look, if you watch this movie in the 1st 5 minutes and you're not
- 1:32:08already like into it, then it won't be for you.
- 1:32:10But like, it puts itself out there right at the beginning and
- 1:32:13you know what you're in for right out the gate, so.
- 1:32:16It's not shy about what it is. Yeah.
- 1:32:18So if that isn't enough for you right there, then it may not be
- 1:32:22for you. But I liked it.
- 1:32:23It hooked me up right out the gate with the like all the
- 1:32:26killings and the way it was done.
- 1:32:27Yeah, I liked it. OK, all right.
- 1:32:31So that's it for movie #1 of 2026.
- 1:32:34Movie #2 of 2026. My birthday is on the 12th, so
- 1:32:40maybe that's coming out the the that we're covering the week
- 1:32:42before. It's going to be my birthday
- 1:32:44pick. And I thought long and hard
- 1:32:48about this and it feels like the right time to discuss.
- 1:32:52Bring it on, cheer or die. Bring it on, cheer or die.
- 1:32:55That's right, baby. Truthfully, I don't know if it's
- 1:32:58streaming anywhere. We're still at the end of
- 1:33:00December while we're recording this, but even at the beginning
- 1:33:03of January I don't know if it's streaming anywhere.
- 1:33:04We had rented it from Prime one time and then we found it at
- 1:33:07Half Price Books so we own. This it's a sci-fi movie, so if
- 1:33:12you maybe have the sci-fi streaming app it might be there.
- 1:33:15Yeah, and honestly, the sci-fi stuff, it does pop up on Prime.
- 1:33:19That's where the good truth or dare comes.
- 1:33:20From a lot, yeah. So yeah, I mean I.

- 1:33:26just so that way. It's winning right now.
- 1:33:30Yeah, it is actually. I want people to be very
- 1:33:32confused. They see that truth or dare,
- 1:33:34they're like, well, Jessie did truth or dare for her birthday a
- 1:33:36few years ago. Why do we have this one?
- 1:33:39And then we see Helen, right? Yes, yeah.
- 1:33:41Bloom House. Yeah.
- 1:33:43Well, so we'll see what happens, but yeah, next week, next week

- 1:33:54Yeah. OK, cool.
