Transcript
- 0:04Hello and welcome back to the episode of Banton Lorenz here.
- 0:06How are you all doing? Hope you're doing great.
- 0:09For today's episode, I want to talk about Pastor Kingsley
- 0:12Okungo. Now Pastor Kingsley is trying to
- 0:16break the Internet on his 50th birthday and what he has done is
- 0:20to tattoo himself. Let me just play that video for
- 0:23you to see for God so love the world.
- 0:30That he. Gave his only son that whoever
- 0:34believes in him shall not perish.
- 0:36But have eternal life. DDID Father, Son, Spirit got the
- 0:42hands on me one 2-3 ABC. Easy as that, Jesus.
- 0:49Said me free. Now this is the tattoo that's
- 0:55Pastor Crystal. Listen, I'm calling him Pastor
- 0:59Crystal Cover because these two people are they are trying to
- 1:02stress us, Pastor Kings Leochungko.
- 1:05Pastor Kings Leochungko is, I don't even know because for so
- 1:11long the church has condemned people with tattoos, people with
- 1:17BBL or body enhancement, but right now even pastors wives are
- 1:23going behind or going under the knife to enhance their bodies.
- 1:29Pastor Kingsley, I think he should have maybe done
- 1:34liposuction instead of tattoo, but you know, switch to his own.
- 1:42He decided to get his tattoo, people criticised him, a lot of
- 1:46people attacked him and this is what he has to say about the
- 1:52whole. But before I play that, there's
- 1:54a pastor who gave his opinion previously about tattoo.
- 1:59Gentleman sent me a text and said what do I think about
- 2:02tattoos? I said if you have it before you
- 2:04are born again, there's nothing that can happen.
- 2:06That can happen. But if by the time you are born
- 2:09again and you still want to do all of these things, you see,
- 2:12all things are lawful, but not all.
- 2:14In the Kingdom. It's not all about sinfulness
- 2:16and righteousness. There are times it's about
- 2:18foolish and wise. There were 10 virgins.
- 2:21They were all virgins. And yet as virgins they still
- 2:24suffer because five were foolish and five were wives.
- 2:29If I draw a mouse on my head now and I come to preach and I say
- 2:32it's my life, it's not my business, please don't feel bad.
- 2:35I'm just just to touch on it. And then we pray, Are we
- 2:38together? And you don't I, I just tell
- 2:41you, how will you believe if I'm praying for you?
- 2:46Let's not say these things don't matter.
- 2:48Keep making a fool out of ourselves.
- 2:50No, Sir. If you see, if someone did it in
- 2:53the past and the person has come to the full, there's nothing we
- 2:55can do. Believe us.
- 2:57Let's be careful. Respectfully speaking, some of
- 3:00these things we ship from the West.
- 3:02I'm not condemning, but the West needs the mess of Africa.
- 3:07God is shipping people to correct things there.
- 3:10The generation of people who have risen right now is a
- 3:13generation that does not respect God.
- 3:16Just because they're technologically advanced does
- 3:19not mean they're spiritually advanced.
- 3:21Don't trade your heritage of spirituality.
- 3:26Now, this is Pastor Selman. He was asked about, you know,
- 3:30tattoos, body enhancements and all those things.
- 3:33And that was what he had to say. So a whole lot of people started
- 3:38sharing these videos online criticising Pastor Kingsley
- 3:42Okunco because they're saying that OK, you did not have tattoo
- 3:45before you were born again. Now that you're born again, is
- 3:49it midlife crisis? What is wrong?
- 3:52Why are you getting it tattoo? Do you need to actually tattoo
- 3:56this Bible verse in your body for you to to feel it in your
- 4:00spirit for God to talk to you? Anyway, this is what he has to
- 4:06say about people criticising him for his tattoos.
- 4:11Hey, hello everybody. How are you guys doing?
- 4:14So I'm here live for my 50th birthday party.
- 4:17Some of you people, African people, you don't, you don't
- 4:19have work in tattoo. People are discussing all right,
- 4:22but I'll, I'll come to you on Monday and educate you for
- 4:24educational purposes only. All right.
- 4:27But we'll look at scripture. We'll look at the right
- 4:30perspective in Africa. We, we are, we are, we are, we
- 4:33are practising what they call Afro Trudeau, Judo Christianity.
- 4:37We're not yet in pure Christianity.
- 4:39So we'll look at those things. But hey, don't worry for now.
- 4:42It's the. Groove, relax, drink water,
- 4:45chill. I'll get back to you.
- 4:52OK, Pastor Kingsley Ogungo is telling us to drink water and
- 4:58chill because we are criticising him for getting a tattoo, that
- 5:05we're in Africa, we're practising Christian Judaism,
- 5:10whatever he called it. I think Christianity has changed
- 5:18over the years. I think what not even
- 5:22Christianity, religion in Africa because there's a difference
- 5:25between Christianity, religion and faith or spirituality.
- 5:32I think what people are practising in Nigeria right now
- 5:35is religion. And initially tattoo was bad,
- 5:42tattoo was horrible, tattoo was everything that is associated
- 5:47with unbelievers and evil or evil doers or people who don't
- 5:52have any regard to life or don't have any future ambition.
- 5:56But right now even pastors are getting tattoos.
- 6:01Pastor's wives are going under the knife.
- 6:03They are calling it Jesus BBL or Christian BBL.
- 6:10Pastor's wives are dressing provocatively.
- 6:14They are wearing. They are no longer Mummy Jos.
- 6:17They are wearing tight things, revealing things.
- 6:21I could remember when you come to church wearing something that
- 6:26is maybe clinging to your body, some women will just remove
- 6:30wrapper and give you to tie on your body.
- 6:32Regardless of whether let's say you are even curvy or you are
- 6:38very, very you have big boobs. There are certain clothes that
- 6:42regardless of how you wear them, unless you wear scar sock,
- 6:47unless you're going to wear sock on your body, you are going to
- 6:50be looking attractive. Sometimes you walk into church
- 6:55or you walk into a church and people will just give you
- 6:57clothes or wrapper to tie because they say the clothes
- 7:00you're wearing is enticing to men or to women regardless.
- 7:08But right now the believers or the Christian or the religious
- 7:16people in Nigeria are all in Lagos because this is particular
- 7:21to Lagos. They are living it up.
- 7:25They are buying private jets. They are buying like I think
- 7:30they are copying American pastors, American this, this
- 7:38Pastor Jamal Bryant, his wife wore it went viral because she
- 7:43wore a reveal not revealing, but she wore a skin tone lace dress
- 7:50and that went viral because people said I see mommy Jill or
- 7:55I see pastor's wife. There are certain things you
- 7:58don't wear. There are certain clothes that
- 8:00you need to keep in your closet. Maybe wait at home for your
- 8:06husband to see if because he claimed that he bought the dress
- 8:09for her. They said keep it, wear it for
- 8:12him at home, don't bring it outside.
- 8:16I think we've gone beyond pastors or Christians or
- 8:22religious people criticising what other people are doing
- 8:27because they say, oh, money is the root of all evil.
- 8:30But these are pastors building, buying private jets, multiple
- 8:35private jets, building houses, building universities, building
- 8:41like auditoriums, stadiums for calling that a church.
- 8:47And these are monies gotten from donations from poor people.
- 8:52So what is Christianity at the end of the day?
- 8:57Is he your faith? Is he spirituality?
- 9:00Is he a church? Is he a pastor?
- 9:04What is it? Because at this point, if a
- 9:08pastor can come out and have a tattoo and defend his tattoos,
- 9:12what would you say to somebody who is covered in tattoos and
- 9:19coming to a church? Would you tell that person to go
- 9:21out of that church? Or would you look at them funny
- 9:25just because they have more tattoos than your pastor?
- 9:29Or would you look at somebody Angelo Corey with multiple BBLS?
- 9:34Would you look at her funny when your pastor's wife just had her
- 9:37own BBL Just because it's not as pronounced as Angelo Corey?
- 9:41Would you criticise her? This is why people are living
- 9:47churches. This is why people are no longer
- 9:51like Jesus crazy. This is why everybody, most
- 9:54times it's Nigerians that this church thing.
- 9:57But when you travel abroad, you see that most things you pray
- 10:02for in Africa are things that the government was supposed to
- 10:06have provided for. There are not supposed to be
- 10:09things that you're going to be praying for on a daily basis to
- 10:12say, OK, This is why I believe in God.
- 10:15I believe in God because I graduated over or I am giving
- 10:19testimony because I graduated over 8 years ago I couldn't find
- 10:22a job and today pastor prayed for me.
- 10:25I found a job. Is that supposed to be listen
- 10:30each to his own, but no God for yourself.
- 10:36Be religious, be spiritual, depending on how you want
- 10:40because at the end of the day, everybody will have to run for
- 10:43their salvation. Even your pastor is running for
- 10:45his or her own salvation. So let me know what you think.
- 10:49Do you think that Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo is having a
- 10:53midlife crisis or do you think that people are just
- 10:59overreacting to the fact that he got a tattoo?
- 11:03I mean, we are Africans, one of our tradition is to have marks
- 11:08in our bodies like the Yoruba people.
- 11:10They have, you know, cults in their face that kind of
- 11:14signifies a tribe that you belong to.
- 11:16Is him getting a tattoo with a Bible verse a, a way of
- 11:22identifying with Christianity? Let me know what you think.
- 11:27Thank you very much for watching this episode.
- 11:28Please like, like, like and share.
