- 0:21Speaker 1: is hey, Holly will go Go.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Ladies, gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I'm your host, mike Wade, your co-host over there, mike White.
- 0:34Speaker 2: What is up, my man?
- 0:36Speaker 1: It's Wednesday, baby Feeling good.
- 0:39Speaker 1: That is what's up.
- 0:40Speaker 2: We are closer to the weekend, we could do it all again.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Week five Pretty good week of football Overall, you know.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Obviously we're supposed to build as like the biggest week ever Probably wasn't the best because while in terms of viewing experience ever, but it's still pretty damn good let's go ahead and jump right in.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and jump to the start.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Headliner, ohio State, notre Dame classic.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I don't have a lot on this game.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I just didn't hit anywhere near the over.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I think those defense are pretty good.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Vegas was right along minus three, the snafu at the end, with the guys missing on the field.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I kind of heard it all.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I don't have anything new on this one, do you?
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, both really good football teams Gameplayed at a high level.
- 1:19Speaker 1: That's what culture was all about Good matchup, both teams, you know definitely top 10 teams.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I think it's good for Ohio State to win a game this way.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yeah, a defensive game just looked really strong and I'm sure their office is going to continue to develop.
- 1:36Speaker 1: So it was good, it wasn't good.
- 1:39Speaker 1: It says a lot that they can win that style.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I think Ryan Day was here in the chirps around.
- 1:43Speaker 2: The chirps around about Ohio State not being physical, but particularly the ability to stop the run, which is exactly how Michigan beat them the last two years.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So you know, I think if they had gone into there and an SMA who is a monster of a running back like not being stopped, that guy is not necessarily a bad thing that guy would kill either you or I.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Ohio State had to kind of bow up and show some muscle and I think they did that.
- 2:05Speaker 2: So this puts that those dogs at bay.
- 2:08Speaker 2: They're going to get more monster tests with Penn State and Michigan.
- 2:11Speaker 2: So now, good for Ryan Day for getting that monkey at least not off his back, but like it's not sitting directly on his on his neck the moment.
- 2:19Speaker 2: So go for him there.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Second game We'll talk about.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Jordan Travis goes into, goes into Clemson, gets a win, Two takeaways.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Jordan Travis did not look as good as I thought he did.
- 2:30Speaker 2: He looks susceptible.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I couldn't believe they couldn't run the ball and Clemson is still very much alive.
- 2:35Speaker 2: That's a good football team.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah, my takeaway is more about Clemson as well.
- 2:40Speaker 1: A lot of people have written them off, us included, and I think, more than anything, even though they lost the game, they very easily could have won Death Valley.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Clemson is still a tough place to play, even in June.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And FSU I really.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I think we both thought it was going to be more of a statement game for them.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, they didn't control the line of scrimmage like I thought they would.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Yeah, travis didn't play as well as I thought he would.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You know, when you look at this game to me it was FSU I thought was going to be more physical.
- 3:10Speaker 1: They weren't.
- 3:10Speaker 1: They weren't.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I thought they were going to be faster.
- 3:13Speaker 1: They didn't look faster.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I thought their quarterback play was going to be head over heels better, based on what we've seen from Kate Klobnik.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And yeah, I think Clemson is still going to be tough the rest of the season.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I expect Clemson to win a lot of football games.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I think their defense is really good.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I could not believe how little success Florida State had on the ground.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I mean that is a pretty above average offensive line.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Trey Benson is an awesome back and they couldn't do anything.
- 3:40Speaker 2: They're, on that offense, only win as far as Jordan Travis.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Those wide receivers will take them as nothing to poo poo because I mean, obviously that's good, that's good enough to beat a lot of teams in football.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Clemson easily could have had that one's going to be eating at them for a long time, but they were definitely still very much live, probably out of the ACC, with two conference losses in September, but their backs against the wall, wounded, wounded, animal mode.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised to see Clemson turn around and rattle off boatload of winds.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Let's move over to the SEC game of the week.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I'm going to keep saying it I cannot believe my eyes at how vulnerable Alabama is.
- 4:14Speaker 2: I'm kind of surprised Ole Miss lost this game.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Frankly, what were your top line events?
- 4:18Speaker 2: I was surprised that.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Ole Miss couldn't get the ground game going.
- 4:23Speaker 1: They weren't able to move the ball as well as I thought they would.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Bama's defense played really well, but, yeah, I thought Ole Miss would have an easier time scoring.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Bama did enough.
- 4:35Speaker 1: That they did enough, and that's about it to win the game.
- 4:38Speaker 1: It's still a great win for them.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Ole Miss is tough.
- 4:40Speaker 1: They've got your Tigers coming up.
- 4:42Speaker 1: You're about to find out how tough they actually are.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to learn, but yeah, bama's still tough.
- 4:49Speaker 1: But they are definitely vulnerable in a lot of ways.
- 4:51Speaker 1: This also we're talking about vulnerability.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It's kind of been a theme so far, bama and the big thing being because they're lost to Texas, which was pretty good loss.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I think it's going to age that well, age that way is that.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I think the defense was better.
- 5:02Speaker 2: The offensive line figured a couple of things out.
- 5:06Speaker 2: My question is was this more of Ole Miss's failures or Alabama figuring some things out?
- 5:18Speaker 1: I think it's a combination.
- 5:18Speaker 1: You know as well as I do how hard it is to win on the road in the SEC Sure, and I think that Bayma can do several things well Playing at home, definitely one of them.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Running the ball one of them Should be at least.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I thought it was gonna be a little bit more of a shootout, in which case, of course, I thought that would favor Ole Miss.
- 5:41Speaker 1: But yeah, I just think it was a little bit of the perfect storm and I think Ole Miss came in a little banged up, especially if they're running back position, yep.
- 5:51Speaker 2: And a quick judgment didn't get enough carries.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I mean, langkiffen is really really good at calling offenses.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I think that much has been.
- 5:56Speaker 2: You could talk about his defense, you could talk about his lack of head coaching pedigree.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I mean, he's had some kind of weird stops in the Oakland Raiders, usc, whatever.
- 6:03Speaker 2: But like one thing is for me it's always been surprised by the way it's like the man has had a call in offense and he knows how to attack a defense.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Frankly and just, I didn't see that at all this week.
- 6:11Speaker 2: So I am cautiously optimistic about my LSU game coming up here next week, which we'll talk about in the second half of the show.
- 6:17Speaker 2: But Langkiffen, I thought he had more cards than that.
- 6:21Speaker 2: He just he didn't have it, at least last Saturday.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And he's over to the other, the other head and this is me again just keep saying headline events or so many headlines.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Colorado, oregon went to Outtson, the honeymoon is over, oregon absolutely put it on him.
- 6:36Speaker 2: That game went exactly the way I expected it, expected it to go, given how thin Colorado is on both sides.
- 6:42Speaker 2: The thing that stuck out with me, two things I actually I liked.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I want to think about Dan Lang's comments before the game and Coach Primes, coach Atthworth, coach Lang, coach Landings, before the game.
- 6:51Speaker 2: They're playing for clicks, we're playing for wins.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Which one?
- 6:55Speaker 2: You saw that sound bite right?
- 6:56Speaker 2: One, you know that was rehearsed.
- 6:58Speaker 2: And two does he know he is coaching a team that has 75 uniform combinations and cleats that are heat activated Like?
- 7:06Speaker 2: Let's not pretend for a second that Oregon doesn't like clicks as well, because they've been dominating that space in college football for a long time.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Well, yeah, and I think this is more the case of some animosity over some teams getting the spotlight that you know a lot of players, coaches might feel a little bit undeserving of Colorado, you know, being in the headlines after, frankly, not doing anything they got a nice win against TCU, but the fact that they're kind of the game of the week every week when you've got teams that have, you know have kind of felt like they've earned it a bit more, so definitely good fodder, you know, good fuel to the fire for the Ducks.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I don't hate them for playing that card.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I think it was completely justified.
- 7:56Speaker 2: I think Oregon is also really good.
- 7:57Speaker 2: They're well coached and if Oregon's defense is good, they're going to win a lot of football games.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Well, yeah, and we said this, this isn't a surprise.
- 8:05Speaker 1: They were three touchdown favorites for a reason.
- 8:07Speaker 1: This is not eye-opening in any way.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Yeah, this is exactly what great teams I really think Oregon's a great team, that's what they do is.
- 8:13Speaker 2: They come up and just from the first snap, in the get-go, they make it very clear.
- 8:17Speaker 2: You're talking about two different things.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I also did like what coach Prime said after the game.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I'm paraphrasing, but in fact he was like get me now.
- 8:24Speaker 2: This is the worst team you're going to have.
- 8:27Speaker 2: And I actually think he's totally right.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I think what he's, I think he's going to.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I think there's going to be a lot of highs and lows this year for Colorado.
- 8:33Speaker 2: They're probably going to make their way to a six and six season, five or something like that, and then I'm expecting him to get a boatload of recruits.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I think this is the worst Colorado team that Dion is going to have for as long as he's in Boulder.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I don't think he's being in Boulder that long, but while he's there, this is probably the worst team he's going to have.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, they won what two games last year.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So yeah, that's true.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Also, what's the comparison?
- 8:56Speaker 2: That's right, only way to go it up.
- 8:57Speaker 2: So keep an eye on the buffs.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Moving on Florida Gators I don't have anything to say about that game other than that guy had the catch of the year probably.
- 9:07Speaker 2: But you see that ball, the guy went up one handed.
- 9:09Speaker 2: If you haven't seen it, go just to Florida.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Charlotte catch of the year.
- 9:12Speaker 2: It's a much, it's an absolute outstanding clip.
- 9:15Speaker 2: We'll be talking about that come December.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Moving on Washington State, very quietly having a very good year Cam Ward there are so many storylines in the pack.
- 9:25Speaker 2: The pack is the best conference in football this year, which is crazy.
- 9:28Speaker 2: It's not the big 10.
- 9:29Speaker 2: It's not going to see.
- 9:29Speaker 2: It's the pack.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Washington State absolutely sixth to Oregon State, who you and I were high on coming this year, yeah, and Cam Ward yeah, he's the man.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he's probably the best quarterback nobody's talking about, and they will as the season continues to roll.
- 9:44Speaker 1: He's like third in passing yards, fourth in passing touchdowns, ninth in completion percentage.
- 9:50Speaker 1: He's all over the stat line.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and they have two good wins.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Wisconsin and Oregon State are good wins.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised at all of both those teams and the end of the top 25.
- 9:59Speaker 2: So you could even make a case that so far in this young season, four weeks in Washington State might have the two best wins.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Not a single win, kind of get, kind of have to give that to Ohio State or Texas, but two quality wins.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I think Washington State is right there.
- 10:12Speaker 2: So I'm looking forward to watching them.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Usc they were a 14 point favorite.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Everybody was out in Arizona State and the line went from 14 to minus 34.
- 10:23Speaker 2: They moved three touchdowns.
- 10:25Speaker 2: They still only won by 14 points and it was close in the fourth quarter.
- 10:30Speaker 2: I don't really care about Arizona State.
- 10:32Speaker 2: My question for you is USC defense terrible.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I don't think they're terrible.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I think they're still improved from last year, I think.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Actually, going back to the Colorado buffalos, I think we're going to find out a little bit more about USC's defense this coming weekend.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm taking the buffs from the points.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I think it's like Colorado plus 23.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I think they're going to find a way to keep it close.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I think it might be another 17 point win for USC, something like that USC is going to get tripped up because Alex Grench is a terrible defensive coordinator is where I've lived.
- 11:50Speaker 2: He had one good year at Oklahoma.
- 11:52Speaker 2: He has been hanging out with Lincoln Riley ever since, and what has he done since that season?
- 11:56Speaker 2: I just don't think he's done anything worth it.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I just don't think he's done anything that exciting.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I think he's ultimately going to cost USC a lot of big things this year.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Well, not to get ahead of ourselves a little bit, but you're looking at them coming back to Boulder after a loss on the road and Outtson's a tough place to play, and so you know you talk about wounded animal mode a little bit.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I think they've got enough juice to keep it closer than three touchdowns.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I really like that.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I don't think they're going to win.
- 12:21Speaker 2: No, I don't think they will win, but I do think Shudder Sanders can dial a few things up.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Alex Golcich, I think, is the offensive coordinator name.
- 12:26Speaker 2: He runs pretty much a carbon copy of Tennessee's offense as well.
- 12:29Speaker 2: They do it pretty well, I get granted their offensive line is terrible and they don't have to know what the weapons Tennessee does.
- 12:34Speaker 2: But like if USC's defense continues to play as bad as it has all season, I don't have any reason to think that USC can't score 28 points, which is probably enough to keep it close enough to cover.
- 12:44Speaker 2: So I don't think they're going to win, but I wouldn't be surprised at all.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Colorado keeps it rolling.
- 12:49Speaker 2: What else Last one or two more big games to talk about?
- 12:53Speaker 1: I didn't ask you.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to ask you a question.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Go ahead, and it was about Penn State.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Ok, hit me.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Do you think they're legit?
- 12:59Speaker 1: Now Tell me about their offense.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and backtrack everything I said about Illinois.
- 13:05Speaker 2: They are.
- 13:05Speaker 2: They are very good.
- 13:06Speaker 2: They absolutely erased Penn State, erased Iowa.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I thought they looked a little sloppy against Illinois, as we're starting to see the red flags.
- 13:15Speaker 2: That game was in champagne, it was rainy.
- 13:17Speaker 2: It's probably a little unfair.
- 13:18Speaker 2: They are very good and their defense looks very, very good, and I do think they're going to compete with Michigan and Ohio State.
- 13:24Speaker 2: So no, I am.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I am retracting all my previous statements from seven days ago.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I'm back on the Penn State competitive bandwagon for sure.
- 13:32Speaker 1: There you go.
- 13:33Speaker 2: On the flip side.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Oh my God, what is happening in Iowa?
- 13:37Speaker 2: This is it's not even a joke anymore, it's not even funny anymore.
- 13:41Speaker 2: 76 yards of total offense.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I like it's Kate McMurray through the ball.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I have like four completions.
- 13:50Speaker 2: It was insane how bad it is.
- 13:53Speaker 2: This is the same offense where Kirk France the coach has.
- 13:56Speaker 2: His coach has often quoted her son, brian France, like is he just like trolling the whole state of Iowa at this point?
- 14:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it is still a joke, because we've been on this joke for like a year and a half now and nothing's changed.
- 14:09Speaker 1: So, yeah, something's got to be done.
- 14:12Speaker 1: If you're an Iowa fan, you got to be sick.
- 14:14Speaker 1: You expect your defense to play well and they played so well but, like, to a certain extent, you can't Carry the whole team.
- 14:22Speaker 1: There's got to be some balance there, because they're just on the field too much.
- 14:25Speaker 1: No, that's where the dam just breaks, like it did this past weekend.
- 14:30Speaker 2: The crazy thing is there's just there's a decent chance they still win the West, given how bad the West is.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Minnesota is terrible, nebraska is not good at, wisconsin's not very good.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Like there's still a shot.
- 14:40Speaker 2: They go to Indianapolis and get you know, they get boat raised by Penn State, michigan, ohio State, whatever.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Like they could.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Still in the West.
- 14:47Speaker 2: This is all gonna end next year.
- 14:49Speaker 2: The the wildly beneficial Scheduling and set up that Iowa has benefited from for what's felt like a decade, since the Big Ten Organized, reorganized stuff.
- 14:58Speaker 2: That way it's over.
- 14:59Speaker 2: It's about to be over here.
- 15:00Speaker 2: And now they're gonna be swimming with the fishes with the addition of UW, uc, usc, ucla and Oregon and there are gonna be.
- 15:09Speaker 2: There isn't gonna be this very, very favorable West anymore.
- 15:11Speaker 2: It's got to be now.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Iowa fans, it's got to be now.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I understand that what Kirk friends has done for that program.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I understand he's a legend.
- 15:17Speaker 2: He's when you want to games, one you a lot of games.
- 15:21Speaker 2: But as we're G and tech folks about beamer, it's time to go.
- 15:24Speaker 2: You got to move on.
- 15:25Speaker 2: You gotta yeah, gotta go and we will also move on.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Last one I'm talking about for you, the homers, oklahoma.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Listen to this zero points, 11 points, 17 points and six points.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Are they good at defense?
- 15:38Speaker 1: I think so I Think, so, I think, full stop, I think so.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I don't think they haven't played anybody yet.
- 15:44Speaker 2: I mean Tulsa, cincinnati, I'm not exactly Murder's Row and I mean and Emery Jones, a quarterback, since I just miss him, wide open throws an up all, but like it's very clear they were like hemorrhaging.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Bad last year by Brent Venables, the defensive form to his coordinator Clemson, very, very good for it.
- 15:59Speaker 2: It seems like at the least he has figured that out and he has installed a competent defense in Norman.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean when you look, you know four games into the season They've put together a nice squad.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Dylan Gabriel has always been solid.
- 16:16Speaker 1: He's got 12 touchdowns, one interception.
- 16:19Speaker 1: He's really quietly leading a strong offense.
- 16:22Speaker 1: And now you complement it with that defense and Oklahoma could really make some waves this year.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I like I'd like to see more of their offense, doesn't I?
- 16:30Speaker 2: I think Dylan Gabriel is a good company.
- 16:32Speaker 2: The backup of his names escape me.
- 16:35Speaker 2: At the moment they seem to really like they're gonna obviously the Red Rivers in two weeks, so we're gonna find out Just how good that Oklahoma defense is and how far on that offense is.
- 16:43Speaker 2: But so far, I mean, give it.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Brent Venables inherited a horrific defensive situation, and in quick time, and this is why they hired him to be a defensive mind.
- 16:51Speaker 2: He's done that, so good for him on that.
- 16:53Speaker 2: All right, let's talk about the homers.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Last week, uva best game of the season, wild finish.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yeah, by far by far.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Shots off, shout out.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And Anthony Calendria For having just really great game.
- 17:06Speaker 2: The personal foul at the end with the right guard, the helmet thing, the jumping over the kicker I just I'm not gonna talk about it.
- 17:13Speaker 2: It's just wild.
- 17:14Speaker 2: I was just excited to see some life out of this UVA team.
- 17:17Speaker 2: They are.
- 17:18Speaker 2: This is a very exciting oh and for Cavaliers team.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Yeah, they should have won that game, they should they dug.
- 17:25Speaker 1: They shot themselves in the foot multiple times.
- 17:27Speaker 1: That's the kind of game you got to finish, but that's kind of the stuff that it takes to go through to build a program.
- 17:34Speaker 1: You got to get a learn from those mistakes and move on.
- 17:37Speaker 1: But they should have been a pretty good NC State team.
- 17:40Speaker 1: So that was, like you said.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I mean just really promising to see a lot of life from UVA.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Calendria looked strong and, yeah, just looks like they're kind of slowly progressing week to week, taking the next steps in the right direction.
- 17:52Speaker 2: At least not often.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I continue.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I continue to see good things about Malik Washington and fields that they seem like they're developing some weapons.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Things are looking up there.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Virginia Tech long season continues.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Drone some things.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Well, with his legs Obviously move the ball a little bit through the air.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Not so great.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I'm losing to Marshall.
- 18:10Speaker 2: It's tough.
- 18:11Speaker 2: They lost by seven points.
- 18:13Speaker 2: They had a chance there at the end.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I watched that final drive.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I still think drones is a better option.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Wells, but he's.
- 18:19Speaker 2: He's not great either.
- 18:20Speaker 2: And the bigger issue is just the defense is terrible.
- 18:22Speaker 2: They gave up 214 yards in the ground to Marshall.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I don't have a lot.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I don't have a lot.
- 18:27Speaker 2: What's else to talk about that?
- 18:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you know drones can do some things with his legs.
- 18:32Speaker 1: It was nice to see.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I think he got like 75 yards on the ground.
- 18:35Speaker 1: His passing game still needs to be developed, I think again, we talked about it in the past.
- 18:41Speaker 1: But maybe kind of flip-flopping the quarterbacks running, you know, running with the hot hands, given defenses something to prepare for by kind of rotating them in and out, might be a good answer.
- 18:52Speaker 1: So I'm gonna keep calling for that.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Other than that, it was a pretty Tech like loss this year.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I think it's.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I think it's a good way to describe it.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Let's move it.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Let's move on Tennessee.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Look at you.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Just do the UTSA game.
- 19:05Speaker 2: What do you got?
- 19:06Speaker 1: um, it kind of what we've seen from from them so far looks really strong.
- 19:11Speaker 1: At times had a, I mean, they got up 31, nothing.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So you know, in some ways a third quarter lull is not reason for panic.
- 19:22Speaker 1: But we've seen several times this season where They've just kind of looked a little lost, especially on offense, for about a quarter.
- 19:32Speaker 1: And you can't do that consistently in win games.
- 19:34Speaker 1: You've got to continue to keep the pedal to the metal and you've got to Continue to keep that fire.
- 19:40Speaker 1: That being said, it's a very Tennessee thing, especially this year, to complain about a 45-point performance, which is exactly what our fans are doing.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I think they're a little spoiled with the Josh Hypal show, but things are continuing to progress on offense.
- 19:57Speaker 1: We did have some guys go down with some minor injuries, so hopefully Get them healed up before we host the South Carolina gamecocks this weekend.
- 20:07Speaker 2: So I got a couple notes as well.
- 20:08Speaker 2: On one that hit on Joe Milton, the third quarter, he got that kind of like a figure eight that went toward my ACL for sure.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Probably yours as well.
- 20:14Speaker 2: The fact that he was able to get back up, just like this mother, just a testament to have we've.
- 20:19Speaker 2: We talked about him all offseason, just his raw athleticism.
- 20:21Speaker 1: The way he bounced up from that was like oh my god, okay, he might be a superhero, at least physically, yeah so he, he was like I want to say he was like 14 of 16, passing prior to that and then coming off.
- 20:33Speaker 1: That hit went like three of 12.
- 20:35Speaker 1: They put him in a yeah, they put him in a brace.
- 20:38Speaker 1: That might have affected him a little bit, so hopefully he's Feeling good Okay.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Good to go.
- 20:44Speaker 2: I thought that was the best game he's had all season.
- 20:46Speaker 2: You know, one of the things I called for the last week was like let's just see a complete game out of you.
- 20:50Speaker 2: You know, basic, because you did, we didn't see it against you, virginia or Austin pay, and it felt like.
- 20:55Speaker 2: It felt like that was a game where he needed to solidify his hold on the job.
- 20:59Speaker 2: So I think, because at this point, way things went in Gainesville, I think, I think if it had gone bad, if he had looked really Mediocre or bad and the UTSA again probably would have been Nico and South Carolina, but I think he's, I think he secured the job.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I think I had a role with him again, so I'm pretty happy with that.
- 21:13Speaker 2: I thought the offensive line looked better, um, and it did, and I thought the tackling looked better, which are the things that obviously really hurt the balls in Gainesville last week.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, definitely gonna need to see more out of the offensive line.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I mean, that's where the kind of the breakdowns are coming on the offensive side.
- 21:29Speaker 1: You know, milton could obviously be a little sharper.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I think it was good to get him involved in the run game early play one.
- 21:35Speaker 1: He went for 81 yards.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Yes, all that, and you don't need that every week, but having that threat just makes the offense a lot more dynamic.
- 21:42Speaker 1: So sprinkling and some some designed quarterback runs Will definitely go a long way in Given some more options for them.
- 21:51Speaker 2: What's the latest on the center?
- 21:52Speaker 2: Who's out?
- 21:53Speaker 2: I think his name is Maze.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yeah, cooper Maze.
- 21:55Speaker 1: All reports are supposed to be back this week.
- 21:57Speaker 1: We've heard that a couple weeks in a row now, but I think it's for real this time now how sharp he is and and how game ready he is.
- 22:04Speaker 1: We'll see whether he starts or whether they kind of rotate him.
- 22:07Speaker 1: In either way, the center position for the Josh hypo you know hyper speed offense is huge, yeah, just for execution and making the calls at the line.
- 22:17Speaker 1: So I do expect to see a little bit more, a Little higher level execution there, with just having him back, just in general, and not to mention the fact that he's just a better Center.
- 22:31Speaker 1: He's a better player.
- 22:32Speaker 1: He was I mean he was, he's a user All SEC guy last year, I'll E lane, who's been his backup, only started playing center like fall camp, so Can't fault him too much Correct.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Good Well, hopefully he gets back because I mean, that's the office of line for what you're trying to do.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Wildly important and obviously and you know, kudos for Lane for stepping up, but obviously he was not ready for what happened in Gainesville.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Good news is, south Carolina don't have that.
- 22:55Speaker 2: So you're facing a better test and hopefully you'll have your guy back.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Uh, let's keep rolling.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Lsu Jane Daniels continues to play at a high level.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Else, you got the win against Arkansas at home.
- 23:07Speaker 2: That game was way closer than it should have been.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Jk Gevers Jefferson is just good.
- 23:12Speaker 2: We got to him a couple times, just couldn't bring him down to broken plays.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Secondary is bad.
- 23:17Speaker 2: My worry about this team is this team is only gonna be as good as Jane Daniels can take us.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Malik neighbors had another muscle performance.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Thank you again for calling him out.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I single handedly Thank you for that.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Wouldn't have otherwise.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Brian Thomas step is number two statistically is having the fourth best season the SEC right now.
- 23:33Speaker 2: So we have two very good wide outs.
- 23:35Speaker 2: If he's not dialed in this, all this team is really going to struggle.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Um, so I'm luckily at home.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Against Arkansas it was an issue and he performed really well Next week at Ole Miss and the week after a very sneaky game at Mizzou might be tough.
- 23:51Speaker 2: So I we're gonna find out really quickly how good the cell is you team is these next two weeks.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I think this is really the inflection point this season really for the defense.
- 24:00Speaker 2: The defense just has to get better.
- 24:01Speaker 2: It has talent, it has guys, it's just it's gotta get better.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, and you can't rely on the back end of your defense to make that step.
- 24:09Speaker 1: It's got to be done with pressure and by the front seven when given time, that secondary Continues to get picked apart.
- 24:17Speaker 1: This is a capable Arkansas offense but you know they shouldn't have been able to have their way with the LSE secondary like they did and they're not getting enough pressure with their front four.
- 24:29Speaker 1: They got to continue to roll in some blitz packages and do some more creative things to utilize that talent.
- 24:34Speaker 1: They can't they can't sit back and let that happen.
- 24:37Speaker 2: One of the things is a struggle with our defensive tackle.
- 24:39Speaker 2: All-american Mason Smith has not been himself.
- 24:41Speaker 2: This is a true freshman all-american monster year blew his ACL out in the first game of last year, came back this week.
- 24:47Speaker 2: He's really hasn't done much.
- 24:48Speaker 2: His backup, jordan Jefferson it's just familiar name for LSU fan, probably member Defense of tackle from West Virginia has been playing his tail off.
- 24:55Speaker 2: So I think there's I think what's also in the defensive line is still shifting Whit weeks, the, the freshman from Virginia, actually linebacker.
- 25:02Speaker 2: He's getting in.
- 25:03Speaker 2: That.
- 25:03Speaker 2: He's getting in the game more often.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Dishon Womack, the five-star, true fresh defensive end LSU this happened like all of last year is still very much shaking up the personnel.
- 25:12Speaker 2: It's one of the big reasons I think the defense so bad and I actually think Matt house runs a pretty complicated Defense just in terms of a lot of zones.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I'd like to see them Emphasize more talent on defense and just let them play and do more man and see what happens, because what we're doing right now Giving up some of the odds we're giving up and who we have coming down the the pipe next eight weeks like it's not gonna work.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, you gotta roll the dice.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of life come on.
- 25:36Speaker 2: All right, let's keep it rolling.
- 25:37Speaker 2: So that is anything else.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Well, looking backwards, now, let's move, let's move forward.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Let's move forward.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Let's talk about the first main event Utah at Oregon State.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Oregon State Minus three, minus three and a half, as well as of time of recording.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Right now they're saying Kim rising is a maybe to go and I think those line has it baked in without him.
- 25:56Speaker 2: For me the question is right away is came rising gonna play?
- 26:00Speaker 2: Utah is very good team defensively.
- 26:03Speaker 2: They are very physical.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I expect him to do that, but playing at Oregon State without a quarterback will be tough.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yeah, this is one of those really juicy Friday night matchups which you love because it's like the appetizer before the main course.
- 26:20Speaker 1: On Saturday this is going to be, if Ryzen can go, a really interesting quarterback matchup.
- 26:26Speaker 1: You got DJ Uang Lillet versus Cam Ryzen very physical team in Utah.
- 26:31Speaker 1: It's at Oregon State.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I'm not sure what to expect in this one.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Oregon State has shown the ability to put up some points.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Utah has been capable on offense but really shown a hard-nosed edge on D, so I think it creates kind of an interesting dynamic there.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I think it's going to come down to whether Cam Ryzen plays or not.
- 26:50Speaker 2: He warmed up last week in the UCLA win Somehow they didn't need him.
- 26:54Speaker 2: They got seven points in the first drive and then they won 14-7 just by effectively sitting on UCLA.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Oregon State is better than UCLA and they're playing at home.
- 27:02Speaker 2: If Cam Ryzen is a go, if he is playing, I expect the Vegas line to move all the way to Utah being favored.
- 27:09Speaker 2: If it's not, I like Oregon State.
- 27:11Speaker 2: So for me, if I'm watching this game you're a betting person pay close attention to Cam Ryzen's health.
- 27:17Speaker 2: I just think he's the best chance Utah has to win this game.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I think he could have gone.
- 27:22Speaker 2: If they needed him in UCLA, they need him now.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, they need him big time.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Yeah, If he's good to go.
- 27:29Speaker 2: I think Kyle Winahan knows that he's going to have to go Moving on, let's stay out.
- 27:33Speaker 2: West USC minus 22.
- 27:35Speaker 2: My 22 and a half at Colorado I think it's actually more than that.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Now I want to know how bad this USC defense is.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Is it ever going to step up?
- 27:43Speaker 2: We've kind of already talked about it already.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Let me rehash.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I'm taking Colorado in the points at home.
- 27:47Speaker 2: I think Shadr Sanders I know he's out.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I know there are playmakers outside, I know they're banged up and they're thin.
- 27:53Speaker 2: I just think they're going to do some crafty things on offense, and USC I just don't think is disciplined enough to stop them.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yeah, this will be a fun one.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I think there'll be a lot of offense on both sides.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I think USC wins in a shootout, whether they cover or not.
- 28:09Speaker 1: I don't know it could be.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I don't think I don't expect it to be a close, close game, but I think it'll be entertaining and it'll be one of those where Colorado has a puncher's chance early.
- 28:20Speaker 1: But they've got to be able to keep that crowd engaged.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not going to be.
- 28:25Speaker 2: I do not.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I would be shocked if it looked like Oregon.
- 28:28Speaker 2: No, it won't look that bad.
- 28:31Speaker 2: No, I think so.
- 28:32Speaker 2: I think so too, and again, I expect Caleb Williams to get his.
- 28:34Speaker 2: I'm sure he's going to throw four or five touchdowns.
- 28:36Speaker 2: That's all well and good.
- 28:38Speaker 2: I think we're all pretty much set on USC having an incredible offense.
- 28:41Speaker 2: I want to know if their defense can hold their water, because right now the red flags are all going off my mind, and if they give it a bunch of points.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Colorado should be like they did to Arizona State last week, because might be the worst, one of the worst teams in power five.
- 28:54Speaker 2: They give up a ton of points to them.
- 28:56Speaker 2: I think I'm going to do that again.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Let's move on.
- 28:58Speaker 2: This is an interesting match, especially for the SEC East Florida at Kentucky.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Kentucky is minus three, even very quietly doing their job, an impressive four and a start against.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Given just a competition, I'll give you my take first.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Kentucky was one of my, was my pick for the not top 10.
- 29:16Speaker 2: All the way to rock, all the way to get to the finish the top 10, the season, not ranked 10.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I think your defenses look good.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Devon Leary has not looked great.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I thought he would fit in better.
- 29:25Speaker 2: I really thought the office of the coordinator coming back was going to be was going to be a big boat, big boost.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I still believe in their coaching staff.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I think Kentucky's just in generally a pretty quality team, but Devon Leary has has looked bad.
- 29:38Speaker 2: I know Kentucky's a three point favorite.
- 29:40Speaker 2: I kind of think Florida wins this game outright.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I think this is kind of where we find out a little bit more about each team.
- 29:47Speaker 1: It's kind of been Jekyll and Hyde, for Florida looked really bad on the road in Utah, understandably so.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Looked really good against an early shaky Tennessee team at home Understandably so.
- 29:59Speaker 1: I don't think the swamp is a really tough place to play Kentucky.
- 30:03Speaker 1: We have no idea who they are.
- 30:04Speaker 1: They haven't played anybody yet.
- 30:06Speaker 1: They're the most untested four and O team in the country, probably, and they've got a Florida team that they always seem to give fits at home in Lexington.
- 30:18Speaker 1: So I don't have a good read on this one.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I think that this could be Devon Leary's coming out party, but I kind of like Florida to edge them out.
- 30:29Speaker 1: I think they've got more talent across the board and I think they've kind of found a little something with their offense.
- 30:36Speaker 1: So yeah, give me Florida if I had to take.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Take a team here.
- 30:40Speaker 1: But I'll be really interested to watch this one unfold.
- 30:45Speaker 2: I've been pretty negative about Graham Mertz for a long time.
- 30:47Speaker 2: I don't think he's that could have a quarterback, but he might be a pretty solid college quarterback after all.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I kind of think him and Napier have figured out what, what what I think Florida is doing really well is.
- 30:55Speaker 2: They're not asking him to do that much.
- 30:57Speaker 1: That's exactly what I was going to say.
- 30:59Speaker 2: They're asking him to do just enough and they're giving the ball to try a TN a whole bunch of time.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Who's awesome?
- 31:04Speaker 2: They've got a pretty good.
- 31:05Speaker 2: They've got the offensive lines played pretty well.
- 31:07Speaker 2: I think if Florida can kind of play their game which has run the ball a lot, graham Mertz, keep them honest, play sound defense they're probably have the talent edge.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I think I think they're better Kentucky.
- 31:17Speaker 2: If this thing gets weird, if Kentucky has a kickoff, return for touchdown, a block punt, some swing where that that stadium is into the game and all of a sudden it's a.
- 31:27Speaker 2: It's a weird game, I think that favor goes back to Kentucky.
- 31:31Speaker 2: But if Florida just comes in and just plays sound ball and does what they do, I think they're a neutral side better team, frankly, if they stick to their game plan because that because Graham Mertz can make.
- 31:41Speaker 1: You know, if you ask him to make three or four big time throws, he could do that.
- 31:44Speaker 1: If they get down and you really have to change your game plan.
- 31:47Speaker 1: He can't do that.
- 31:48Speaker 1: If Leary shows out and and you know he's throwing bombs everywhere and Kentucky just has a little bit of an offensive explosion, florida's not going to be able to keep up.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Which is exactly what happened week one.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I mean literally the first game, the first play of the Utah was a was a play action ADR bomb.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Graham Mertz is behind in Utah first start heads up Like yeah, of course he's deer in headlights and I think we all, I think the college football world really kind of threw under the bus.
- 32:12Speaker 2: He didn't look, he looked terrible in that game and ever since then he's done nothing but effectively efficiently run the offense and had good games against Tennessee, charlotte and whoever the third team is.
- 32:22Speaker 2: They beat.
- 32:22Speaker 2: So I think you and I agree, we like Florida, kansas at Texas minus 17.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Texas is awesome.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Jalen Daniels is also awesome.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I'm expecting both teams to score.
- 32:36Speaker 2: I'm expecting Jalen Daniels to get his, but in Texas offense to get his.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I'm making Texas defense to outperform.
- 32:42Speaker 2: I like Texas to cover here because I think Kansas defense is does belong in the same field.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and this has looked.
- 32:49Speaker 1: They looked a little sleepy the past two weeks.
- 32:52Speaker 1: And then you look at the final score and it's 31, 10 against Wyoming, 38, six against Baylor.
- 32:57Speaker 1: This is a game where if they look a little bit sleepy and they keep Kansas around, they can make them pay.
- 33:04Speaker 1: It is at home in Austin, which I think will go a long way.
- 33:08Speaker 1: But do they have that same kind of juice?
- 33:11Speaker 1: I mean, they're not playing number three at Alabama anymore, you know.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Do they carry that juice to to Kansas?
- 33:18Speaker 1: So I kind of like Kansas to hang around.
- 33:21Speaker 1: I don't know if Texas puts that much separation in the end, but I like this to be a fun game early and then maybe Texas pulls away, wins by 17.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Would you say the line was 17?
- 33:33Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, yeah, it's, it's right, kind of what I was, what I was thinking.
- 33:37Speaker 1: So, yeah, I think Texas wins pretty comfortably in the end, but don't be surprised if it's a third quarter dogfight.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Like many, like many Texas teams.
- 33:45Speaker 2: The only team that can really beat Texas is Texas themselves, and this is kind of this is another one of them stories If they can get to play their ball off a content.
- 33:51Speaker 2: This team last year went to Lawrence and beat that team 55 14.
- 33:55Speaker 2: They smoked him in Lawrence.
- 33:57Speaker 2: This Texas team is better than that one.
- 33:59Speaker 2: They're playing at home.
- 34:00Speaker 2: I'm expecting the same.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I love Jalen Daniels.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I love Lance Liefelman.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Loves happening in contact with Kansas.
- 34:05Speaker 2: It's just this week, as you're hitting a brick wall, so no, you speak the truth.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I just it's all about mindset how they, how they approach this one how they approach it.
- 34:14Speaker 2: So game day Notre Dame at Duke, duke minus six.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Duke has the number four scoring D in the country and Riley Leonard is elite.
- 34:21Speaker 2: They're also really good in the backend.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Notre Dame coming off a huge emotional letdown.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Losing that tough one.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Is there a hangover situation?
- 34:30Speaker 2: What's that running game going to look like against Duke?
- 34:33Speaker 2: What can Riley Leonard do at home?
- 34:34Speaker 2: Can he put on another show like he did week one against Clemson?
- 34:37Speaker 2: I like Notre Dame to snack back here, could take out some aggression, really get back to form and just run the ball with that, with SMA, as much as they can.
- 34:47Speaker 2: I like Notre Dame here.
- 34:48Speaker 2: What do you like?
- 34:49Speaker 2: Give me your, give me your take.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Yeah, this is kind of the Cinderella story that everyone wants to keep going, unless you're a Notre Dame fan.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I mean, if you're a Duke fan, you beat Clemson at home early, you've got Notre Dame at home again.
- 35:00Speaker 1: You know, this is a chance for Duke kind of do what we love in college football.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Unfortunately, I don't see it playing out like that.
- 35:07Speaker 1: College football is not college basketball.
- 35:11Speaker 1: You can't just write a hot streak and they're going to get out physicaled in this game by Notre Dame.
- 35:17Speaker 1: They've just got too much and while I would love to see the Dukes continue this Cinderella story, it's not going to happen.
- 35:27Speaker 2: I like Duke in the first half.
- 35:28Speaker 2: I think they're going to keep it closing.
- 35:30Speaker 2: I mean, game day is going to be there.
- 35:31Speaker 2: I think it's going to be a play.
- 35:32Speaker 2: The last time game day was there for Durham for a football game.
- 35:35Speaker 2: So I think it's going to be exciting.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I think it's going to be as close to Horns Ness as Wallace Wade stadium gets, but ultimately, I just think Notre Dame is still there.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Maybe like an anthill.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Maybe like an anthill yeah, a fire anthill, though Fire anthill Like one of the fire, anthills, yeah, fire anthills.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I think I mean Sam Hartman's excellent.
- 35:53Speaker 2: They've got some playmakers and I think this is going to be.
- 35:56Speaker 2: This is going to be the classic discrepancy level of talent.
- 35:59Speaker 2: But we'll see SEC game of the way Georgia at Auburn.
- 36:02Speaker 2: I will not be watching this game, but I am glad they still play.
- 36:05Speaker 2: I have no reason really to watch this game, except I'll just say it being the SEC West, I know this for a fact.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Jordan Hare is a tough place to play.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Yes, it's a weird game.
- 36:15Speaker 2: This is a rivalry.
- 36:16Speaker 2: This is one of those permanent home and homes like Tennessee, alabama, lsu, florida.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I'm glad they're playing.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Georgia is so much better.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Auburn got blanked by A&M last week, but weird things happen in the planes.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and again, just like last year, we've seen it this year Georgia sleepwalks a little bit early.
- 36:34Speaker 1: So you know, for them it'll be big to kind of not light that fire at Jordan Hare, but there's no reason they shouldn't run away with this one.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Yeah, this might be the game.
- 36:44Speaker 2: I wonder if this is going to be the game, because Georgia has looks I don't want to say pedestrian, that feels rude, but like just how does that look like the world champion superpower of the back?
- 36:53Speaker 2: They've not looked back to back.
- 36:55Speaker 2: They still can become that.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Those guys, they have that talent in their locker room, in their sideline.
- 37:00Speaker 2: We might look back at this game.
- 37:01Speaker 2: It's like, oh, remember when Georgia went to Jordan Hare and beat them 40 to three.
- 37:05Speaker 2: That's when we knew they were contenders.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Like I wouldn't be surprised if this was that week.
- 37:09Speaker 2: I could very much see that happening.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Uw at Arizona.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Uw's 18 points.
- 37:15Speaker 2: I took another annihilation.
- 37:17Speaker 2: They have vaporized everybody in their schedule.
- 37:19Speaker 2: They are.
- 37:19Speaker 2: They should be the number one team in the country given what they've done on the field.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I'm just not picking against them until they show me any reason not to.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Roma Dunze, jalen McMillian and Jalen Polk are three NFL wide receivers I think the best wide receiver in the country and that's saying something, given what Ohio State has.
- 37:36Speaker 2: They are just so good and they're murdering everybody.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Give me a reason.
- 37:40Speaker 1: There's no reason to even talk about this game, really, other than the PPP Fund.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Other than the PPP Fund, which is Surgeoning.
- 37:46Speaker 2: I don't know if you've noticed that he is number one in the Vegas betting odds.
- 37:49Speaker 2: If he's, he started this, he's number six.
- 37:50Speaker 2: He is number one.
- 37:51Speaker 2: So if that stands to reason, if the Heisman ceremony was tomorrow we'd be getting polos, but unfortunately we still have eight more weeks of football, so hopefully he can stick onto that pot.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Ppp Fund continues to surge.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Caviar, we'll say the Arizona game.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Jane DeLora, the quarterback of Arizona.
- 38:09Speaker 2: He's also pretty fun to watch.
- 38:10Speaker 2: He's got a little bit of Anthony Calandria in him.
- 38:13Speaker 2: He is he's scramble, he's.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right, you heard me.
- 38:16Speaker 2: He's throwing balls around.
- 38:17Speaker 2: He's got a big arm, he's mixing it up pretty well.
- 38:21Speaker 2: He's good fun to watch.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Will they make this game competitive?
- 38:24Speaker 2: No, because nobody can slow down UDubs offense.
- 38:26Speaker 2: But he'll make the game entertaining.
- 38:28Speaker 2: So shout out, jane DeLora, for, just you know, making my Saturday night that much more interesting.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Anything else for you to the homers.
- 38:37Speaker 1: No, I think it's homer time.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Homer time, lsu number three at Ole Miss.
- 38:41Speaker 2: My feeling this game, this team is going to go as far as Jane Daniels stays dialed in.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Jane Daniels is having the best, is the best quarterback in the SEC, which is crazy to think about because I still don't think Jane Daniels is that great, but the statistics and what he's done in the field it's hard to argue otherwise.
- 39:00Speaker 2: If Jane Daniels is dialed in for 60 minutes, we're going to win and he was not dialed in for 60 minutes.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Look at how the Arkansas bad first half, second half he turned it on.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I think we saw how that went.
- 39:10Speaker 2: If he can go to Oxford and he can be dialed in for 60 minutes, we're going to win this game going away.
- 39:16Speaker 2: If he's rattled and Nick, it's rough I think we're going to lose.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I don't think that last week was a good sign for LSU.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Arkansas is not a great team.
- 39:29Speaker 1: They're good middle of the pack SEC team and LSU could have very easily lost that game.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Now you got to go to Oxford, you got to face a rebounding Ole Miss team and I kind of expect them to pull out all the stops.
- 39:43Speaker 1: It's what?
- 39:45Speaker 1: Was it?
- 39:45Speaker 1: Two or three points spread?
- 39:46Speaker 1: I hate to say it, buddy, I kind of like Ole Miss in this one.
- 39:51Speaker 2: I don't hate you for that.
- 39:52Speaker 2: I don't hate you this one.
- 39:54Speaker 2: I've had a pit in my stomach about this game all week.
- 39:55Speaker 2: I think we're going to know right away, like, if we get down 10-nothing in the first quarter, like it might be bad If we come out executing Chris and we play, I think, on paper neutral side.
- 40:06Speaker 2: I think we're better than Ole Miss, I'll say that, but we're not playing a neutral side.
- 40:09Speaker 1: We're not playing in.
- 40:10Speaker 2: New Orleans or Atlanta.
- 40:11Speaker 2: We're playing in Oxford and it's going to be a night game.
- 40:14Speaker 2: They're going to be fired up.
- 40:15Speaker 2: So can Jaden push all that aside?
- 40:19Speaker 2: Can the defense start to live up to the talent level that it has, which is, through four weeks, big fat?
- 40:26Speaker 2: No, like it's got to be, because I heard you say Ole Miss has their back against the wall.
- 40:31Speaker 2: So does LSU.
- 40:32Speaker 2: There are ideas, thoughts, dreams about this team contending for the SEC and even the playoff.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I don't think there's a two-loss playoff team here.
- 40:42Speaker 2: So if we have any hope of that dream continuing and I know it's a small dream, I get, I'm a realistic If that's dreams can continue, this LSU's back.
- 40:49Speaker 2: This must win.
- 40:50Speaker 2: This can't lose for LSU.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Ut minus 12 and a half.
- 40:55Speaker 2: They're hosting this game is in Knoxville, correct.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Yep going dark mode in Knoxville Going dark mode.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I saw the black units.
- 41:02Speaker 2: If you get a chance, google those on Twitter, instagram.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Black with the red accents it looks super dope Definitely not red.
- 41:09Speaker 2: I'm not, excuse me, sorry, orange accents, my bad.
- 41:11Speaker 2: I'll give you all from my read quickly on this game.
- 41:14Speaker 2: I think Xavier Leguette is a real problem.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Did you see that clip last week?
- 41:20Speaker 2: The fastest time ever timed on a football field.
- 41:23Speaker 2: This guy took a simple crossing pattern and ran 23.1 miles per hour.
- 41:27Speaker 2: He is legitimately a very, very good wide-out and Spencer Rattler is playing out of his mind.
- 41:34Speaker 1: He is.
- 41:34Speaker 1: He's playing.
- 41:35Speaker 1: He might be the best quarterback in the SEC right now.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he seems like he's playing.
- 41:39Speaker 2: I feel like he's playing his way back into NFL contract.
- 41:42Speaker 2: For sure, absolutely, I'm Tennessee.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Double Xavier Leguette and then pass, rush and blitz the bejesus out of Spencer Rattler.
- 41:50Speaker 2: That's the victory for me.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Yes, that's what you've got to do.
- 41:52Speaker 1: You've got to get home, you've got to and you've got to tackle, because you can't.
- 41:57Speaker 1: If he gets outside, plays will be made, and I expect that to happen a couple of times.
- 42:01Speaker 1: But he can't do that five, six times.
- 42:03Speaker 1: If that happens two or three times for big games, fine, you get up, you try and do it again, but at constant pressure, and crowd noise and intensity is what you've got to bring.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Their offense has been good.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Spencer Rattler has been awesome.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Their offensive line has been super shaky and they can't run the ball.
- 42:23Speaker 1: So for Tennessee, you've got to be able to run the ball.
- 42:26Speaker 1: You got to stay on schedule and keep that up tempo offense going.
- 42:29Speaker 1: You need to mix in some quarterback runs and you've got to get to Spencer Rattler.
- 42:33Speaker 1: That's it.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I like, I like, I think I like Tennessee's chances to run the ball as well, control, control the clock as well.
- 42:39Speaker 2: I think it's going to.
- 42:39Speaker 2: I think it's going to go a long, long way.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Usually we're saying, oh God, you want to keep Tennessee's offense on the field.
- 42:45Speaker 2: But honestly, I think in a game where Spencer Rattler has that kind of X factor, can go off, can do some crazy things like controlling the ball, controlling the clock and just being superior.
- 42:55Speaker 2: It might be the the smart path to victory for the Vols.
- 42:58Speaker 2: And I still, I still love Tennessee's running backs.
- 43:01Speaker 2: I think they're going to give South Carolina a game fits.
- 43:03Speaker 2: But I think Milton getting some design keepers goes a long way.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Keep them honest.
- 43:08Speaker 2: So I like the, I like the Vols to cover.
- 43:10Speaker 2: But uh, rattler, xavier Leggett, those guys are very capable.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, this one worries me a little bit.
- 43:15Speaker 1: We know what he's capable of and uh, so we'll see.
- 43:18Speaker 1: You know, on the road I'd be scared.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I'm still scared, but I like the Vols to win this one at home, and in a revenge spot.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Obviously South Carolina game was a horrific game for the Vols.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Yeah, knocked us out of the playoff last year.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Hooker went down the injury.
- 43:31Speaker 2: My point is there's gonna be no shortage of uh ammunition, built-in board material motivation for your Vols.
- 43:39Speaker 2: I expect them to come out, uh, with their hair on fire.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Watch the start of this game, because Nieland will in fact be a hornet's nest.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Love it.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Uh, keep going, uh.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Uva, uva at Boston College minus three, this is your, uh, boston College 3.0.
- 43:54Speaker 2: This is a game UVA's can win.
- 43:56Speaker 2: This is the one.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Go in there.
- 43:57Speaker 2: go in there with your hair on fire, throw the ball 40 times, clang through your teeth, keep throwing deep balls.
- 44:03Speaker 2: I don't care, just like what are you?
- 44:05Speaker 2: You're 0-4.
- 44:06Speaker 2: You've got a little bit of electricity on the outside.
- 44:08Speaker 2: You have some playmakers who can do some things.
- 44:10Speaker 2: You know you can't run the ball off the fly and putrid.
- 44:12Speaker 2: I want UVA to play super aggressive in this game.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the one that they.
- 44:19Speaker 1: They've got a good shot.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Pc's looked pretty pretty good at times, but, um, yeah, this is where you take the next step.
- 44:25Speaker 1: You should have won last week.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Yeah, clean up a couple mental errors and you, you get the victory this week.
- 44:31Speaker 2: It's.
- 44:31Speaker 2: It's crazy to say this.
- 44:32Speaker 2: I mean, uva is is talked about as one of the worst teams in power five.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Unfortunately, it's also was this close to being two and two.
- 44:39Speaker 2: You know, the JMU game, the NC State game, could both go differently and we're having a different conversation.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Talking about two plays, talking about two plays and difference between UVA being 0-4 and two and two.
- 44:49Speaker 2: So really hope the.
- 44:50Speaker 2: I hope they got to have it.
- 44:51Speaker 2: I'm going to pick them.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I'm going to pick them to get their first win of the year.
- 44:54Speaker 2: I don't.
- 44:55Speaker 2: I don't think Boston College is very good at all and I think UVA might have found something.
- 44:59Speaker 2: And I think they're playing with their backs.
- 45:00Speaker 2: I think Tony Elliott is playing with his back up against the wall.
- 45:03Speaker 2: I don't think there's a way his his time in Charleston was going to last much longer.
- 45:07Speaker 2: If he gets some wins and this is one he's got to have.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Yep, last game.
- 45:12Speaker 2: We're going to talk about Virginia Tech plus two and a half versus Pitt, the battle of the one and three squads that have just been disappointing.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I think you and I are a little bit more bullish on Pitt coming the year.
- 45:21Speaker 2: They're also having pretty, pretty rough season.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Hiltro Kovic he is not good.
- 45:26Speaker 2: He's just he was, he was good like transfer two ago.
- 45:29Speaker 2: He is not good, which is good news, because Virginia Tech's defense is also not good, currently ranked 105th in the country, both teams, narduzzi and Brett Pry.
- 45:40Speaker 2: They want to establish their brand, their image, the team that they want out of playing defense and running the ball.
- 45:46Speaker 2: So I expect both of these teams to do exactly that to try and play defense, try and run the ball, try and grind each other out.
- 45:52Speaker 2: I don't really have a read on this game.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Take the under.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I would agree with you there.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Pitt's offense hasn't looked very good outside of.
- 45:59Speaker 1: You know one game against Walford early.
- 46:02Speaker 1: They showed some decent fight against UNC last week before getting the door slammed on him.
- 46:07Speaker 1: I do think there's more firepower for Pitt, but I do think it will be kind of a boring game.
- 46:12Speaker 1: You know a defensive struggle, maybe a couple of turnovers wins it for somebody, or maybe a little old school beamer ball in Virginia Tech pulls away with a nice special teams play.
- 46:21Speaker 1: But yeah, this one's kind of going to be an old, have an old school feel to it, the old backyard brawl.
- 46:28Speaker 2: They are playing the company confines of Lane Stadium, which certainly helps.
- 46:31Speaker 2: I expect Lane Stadium to get up and be loud for them.
- 46:33Speaker 2: I think tech fans are hungry for another home win and they know that they can beat this game at home.
- 46:37Speaker 2: So hopefully they'll get up for that and hopefully Brent Pry can start to kind of turn the things around.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Big week for the Virginia teams I got we got two winnable games for Virginia and Virginia Tech.
- 46:47Speaker 2: Slight dogs and both, but I like our, like our home team, our home team's quads to take it on.
- 46:53Speaker 2: Yeah, this might be the week.
- 46:55Speaker 2: This might be the week.
- 46:56Speaker 2: I think that's all I got.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Anything else you want to talk to John for for week five coming up.
- 47:01Speaker 1: No, let's go get them.
