- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, kids, get in the car. We're gonna go
- 0:01Speaker 1: see fog Hat. It's one more thing, one more thing
- 0:10Speaker 1: before we get to finishing off the list of old
- 0:14Speaker 1: these classic rock has been acts that are going to
- 0:17Speaker 1: be touring in twenty twenty five. I got a couple
- 0:19Speaker 1: of other things.
- 0:20Speaker 2: In which I would really like to briefly perform the
- 0:24Speaker 2: hit right off the top of my head of each
- 0:27Speaker 2: of the bands you name.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Wow, that's a good one right there, and I know
- 0:30Speaker 1: you can go yeah.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Just right off the top of my head.
- 0:33Speaker 1: A couple of things that happened while we were gone.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Did you see this? Elon offered Wikipedia a billion dollars
- 0:45Speaker 1: to change their name to Wikipedia.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Oh, what a strange bird is.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Apparently he did that a long time ago, like before
- 0:59Speaker 1: he was as big as he is now, and somebody
- 1:01Speaker 1: tweeted that out, like as a reminder of what a
- 1:03Speaker 1: crazy person is. He retweeted it and said, true offer
- 1:07Speaker 1: still stands.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Oh my god, that's funny, you know, at the risk
- 1:17Speaker 2: of of ending the mirth, I was reading again, one
- 1:22Speaker 2: of my favorite topics in the world is how potent
- 1:25Speaker 2: a force humor is. And I've got a quote around
- 1:28Speaker 2: here somewhere about how an unrighteous person or regime or
- 1:36Speaker 2: whatever cannot stand up to mockery. That's why they crush
- 1:41Speaker 2: it because it will bring them down. But a righteous
- 1:45Speaker 2: person who is correct and has the strength of morals
- 1:51Speaker 2: and whatever behind them, they can endure mockery and will
- 1:55Speaker 2: let it happen because they know they're right. And what
- 1:59Speaker 2: a great measure that is of do you trust what
- 2:05Speaker 2: you're saying? Do you believe what you're saying? Do you
- 2:07Speaker 2: believe what you are saying is true? Because if you do,
- 2:10Speaker 2: you will take mockery.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I don't know what era Elon Musk that was where
- 2:14Speaker 1: he made that offer to Wikipedia, but the fact that
- 2:16Speaker 1: he retweeted and said true offer still stands now that
- 2:20Speaker 1: he's like, you know, the co president runner, that's pretty funny.
- 2:25Speaker 1: One other thing before we get to the oldies groups
- 2:28Speaker 1: came across this on Twitter. Elon's thing. My oldest son
- 2:32Speaker 1: eight has discovered D's nuts jokes, and it's all he says. Now,
- 2:36Speaker 1: everything is D's nuts. He simply can't stop. I ask
- 2:39Speaker 1: where he heard that joke. He made me promise that
- 2:42Speaker 1: if he told me he wouldn't get in trouble. I agreed,
- 2:45Speaker 1: So he leans in and he whispers d's nuts.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Oh he is our most childish billionaire by a million miles.
- 2:58Speaker 1: That is a good joke.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Okay, well played, son.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So we went through on the radio show, which I
- 3:06Speaker 1: assume you're aware of that you're not listening to the
- 3:08Speaker 1: One More Thing podcast and don't know that Armstrong and
- 3:11Speaker 1: Getty do twenty hours a live radio every week that
- 3:13Speaker 1: you can also listen to and podcast form through One
- 3:16Speaker 1: More Thing. But on the radio we.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Talked about I'm strong Yeddy on demand.
- 3:20Speaker 1: What did I say?
- 3:21Speaker 2: One more Thing, which is what we're doing now.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Right, completely different things. I mentioned a lot of the
- 3:27Speaker 1: groups that are touring someone might really like see like
- 3:29Speaker 1: ac DC, I'm all the Way the hell. I will
- 3:35Speaker 1: not go to see Ringo star in his all star band.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Probably we all Live in the Elas Marine.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Featuring members of the Beatles.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Song Wait a minute, give me a second? Oh, I've
- 3:47Speaker 2: got is a photographing all right?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Featuring members of Good Song. What do you mean I'm
- 3:55Speaker 1: not a Ringo guy?
- 3:56Speaker 2: Okay?
- 3:56Speaker 1: Featuring members of Aerosmith, This Way, Electric Light Orchestra, Strange Magic, Well,
- 4:06Speaker 1: Interesting Choice, Toto toe the Line.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Their first hit, not going with Africa too obvious. Men
- 4:16Speaker 2: at hold the line, isn't it Sorry? I come from
- 4:21Speaker 2: a Lendown under.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Okay, so go enjoy that. There's also Billy Joel.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I'm actually a fan of Colin James Hay as a songwriter. Sure,
- 4:29Speaker 2: the solo stuff is it's it's like better versions than
- 4:32Speaker 2: the men at work socks.
- 4:33Speaker 1: But anyway, Billy Joel is touring for some reason with
- 4:38Speaker 1: Stevie Nicks.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I'm already tired of singing.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yes, okay, Sting and Rod Stewart.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Okay, I would have thought Sting is too big for
- 4:52Speaker 2: that sort of package. It's kind of a festival, though,
- 4:54Speaker 2: isn't it a moving festival?
- 4:55Speaker 1: Definitely? Rod Stewart's too big for it, isn't he still?
- 4:59Speaker 1: I don't know. He doesn't need be part of any package.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Rod Stewart did what a whole bunch of different artists
- 5:04Speaker 1: figured out over the last two decades. You're a big
- 5:08Speaker 1: deal back in the day, and you sing a whole
- 5:10Speaker 1: bunch of standards, and you put out albums as an
- 5:13Speaker 1: old man of you singing like classic standards, and you
- 5:16Speaker 1: make another gazillion.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Dollars steer into nostalgia.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. James Taylor is going to be out there.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Rod Stewart on his own Heart, Elvis Costello, the Eagles.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Of Day think. I'm going to see Elvis again on
- 5:28Speaker 2: this tour. Love him, love him Love. I watched him
- 5:31Speaker 2: hold an entire audience rapped every single second of the show.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Him and an acoustic guitar. Cool spectacular.
- 5:40Speaker 1: The Eagles are going to continue to play at the Sphere.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I saw that it was awesome. Dead and Company are
- 5:44Speaker 1: playing at the Sphere. I would like to see Dead
- 5:46Speaker 1: in Company at the Sphere. I wonder what the the
- 5:51Speaker 1: video portion would be. I don't know. Santana, Joan jack.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Wait, wow, wow, Wow. These are some old people we're
- 6:00Speaker 2: talking about. Oh yes, Santana in particular Joan jet A,
- 6:04Speaker 2: Carlos Santana played at Woodstock Right.
- 6:09Speaker 1: He was a baby John, he's a grown man, John forty.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Wow. Bruce Bringsty you know what I I honked this big.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I don't know if it's still available on Netflix. The
- 6:22Speaker 2: u CCR live at Albert Hall in Great Britain, and
- 6:29Speaker 2: like sometime around nineteen seventy when they're at the height
- 6:31Speaker 2: of their powers, mind blowing, tightest band that's ever played.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Wow, just great? Too bad? They came to hate each
- 6:38Speaker 1: other so much good because if they had all gotten
- 6:40Speaker 1: together and toured, they would have made so much money.
- 6:43Speaker 1: That's like, I can't believe the Eagles are printing money,
- 6:47Speaker 1: but they they. Don Felder, the guitar player from back
- 6:50Speaker 1: in the day on all your favorite songs. He and
- 6:53Speaker 1: them get along so bad that they Don Felder's out
- 6:56Speaker 1: there doing his own I'm part of the Eagles thing
- 6:59Speaker 1: with somebody else you've never heard of, making you know,
- 7:02Speaker 1: one hundred dollars a night when he could be flying
- 7:05Speaker 1: around in a private jet. I mean, put your whatever
- 7:07Speaker 1: you're mad about, put it aside, and get on stage
- 7:11Speaker 1: and play the songs.
- 7:12Speaker 2: You idiots, well counterpoint, have integrity and don't profit from
- 7:17Speaker 2: evil people who wronged you.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Have you ever listened to because it's on YouTube when
- 7:22Speaker 1: Glenn Fry and Don Felder were challenging each other to
- 7:25Speaker 1: a fight during a song. Yes, it is so entertainer.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Don Don Felder is the guy with the double neck
- 7:31Speaker 1: guitar playing on you know, Hotel California or Life in
- 7:33Speaker 1: the fast Lane or whatever, standing there with Joe Walsh
- 7:35Speaker 1: and he and Glenn Fry lead singer. They're going back
- 7:38Speaker 1: and forth in their headsets during some Joe Walsh solo
- 7:41Speaker 1: or something like that about it. I'll meet you at
- 7:43Speaker 1: the bus, you motherfucker. Oh yeah, come on a beat
- 7:46Speaker 1: your ass, you son of a bitch. I mean they are,
- 7:48Speaker 1: and that's why they can't ever be together.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah, they hate each other.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Glenn Fry's dead, but maybe he can't even stand to
- 7:53Speaker 1: be around Glen Fry's son. I don't know.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Now that's holding your grind.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Bruce Springsteen and East Band will be out there. They'll probably,
- 8:02Speaker 1: you know, be great.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I've just recently come to be able to listen to
- 8:06Speaker 2: Bruce again, and I listened to a couple of old
- 8:09Speaker 2: albums the other day because I just he's become such
- 8:11Speaker 2: a pain in the ask. I'm thinking after the smiting
- 8:15Speaker 2: of Kamala Harris, he'll shut up and play music now.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I hope.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I'm going the other direction on Springsteen. I just don't
- 8:20Speaker 1: even think I can ever enjoy him again. That book
- 8:23Speaker 1: and video that he and Barack Obama put out together,
- 8:26Speaker 1: Oh my god, I see it that. I see it
- 8:28Speaker 1: in bookstores all time.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Oh really, Oh that's why I can stand to listen.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Oh it's hard to take. Eric Clapton's touring now. If
- 8:36Speaker 1: you want to get long, a lecture is long about vaccines,
- 8:40Speaker 1: as the song Leila in between tunes, Go ahead and
- 8:44Speaker 1: enjoy Eric Clapton.
- 8:45Speaker 2: From a guy who's a magical player but not exactly
- 8:49Speaker 2: an intellectual.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Giant and ninety. I mean he's not ninety, but he's eighty.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Roger Daltrey of the who Oh, ROGERO on their own
- 9:00Speaker 1: Bachman Turner Overdrive will be taking care of business April.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Block Roger Daltrey, love him a bt O, No, you're
- 9:06Speaker 2: kidding me. Roger perfect example, and I love him as
- 9:09Speaker 2: a musician. He's a really interesting guy. Uh just a
- 9:13Speaker 2: really a good human being in a lot of ways.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Not in some, but he and this is a lesson
- 9:20Speaker 2: for all of us. When he was at the height
- 9:22Speaker 2: of his income, he built a life assuming that would continue,
- 9:27Speaker 2: and built himself a cost structure that's really difficult to maintain.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So here he is.
- 9:32Speaker 2: He's well into his seventies. He's got to do shows
- 9:35Speaker 2: to pay the bills, and that's it's too bad. I
- 9:39Speaker 2: think he still enjoys playing, but his voice is so shot.
- 9:44Speaker 1: My son would like to see bto He would love
- 9:46Speaker 1: that so I'll take Henry to that. Maybe if they
- 9:48Speaker 1: get close.
- 9:49Speaker 2: You ain't seen nothing yet.
- 9:51Speaker 1: There you go, Earth Wind and Fire is going to
- 9:54Speaker 1: be playing.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Do you remember.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Foreigners? Feel like it feels like the Last Time Tour.
- 10:02Speaker 1: That's a pretty good name.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I'll bet it sounds like last Time too.
- 10:05Speaker 1: He Oh, it's Michael. My favorite was air supply Joe
- 10:10Speaker 1: earlier in the show.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yes, well, yes, they need an air supply on stage.
- 10:17Speaker 2: They've got the hose running under their nose. They're very old.
- 10:20Speaker 2: It's the point.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Styx is touring Grand Funk Railroad, Chicago, Cheap Trick America,
- 10:30Speaker 1: and I have no idea in any of these groups,
- 10:33Speaker 1: how many of there there might be the entire original band.
- 10:36Speaker 1: It might be one of them, it might be none
- 10:37Speaker 1: of them. I don't have any idea of But three
- 10:39Speaker 1: Dog Night John Oate solo, I'm not sure why i'd
- 10:44Speaker 1: go see that.
- 10:48Speaker 2: He's a good singer, songwriter, guitar player.
- 10:51Speaker 1: If he's in my living room and there's nothing on TV,
- 10:54Speaker 1: I'll get out of my bedroom and go down and
- 10:56Speaker 1: listen to him for a little.
- 10:57Speaker 2: You ever watched Chicago con from when their original league
- 11:02Speaker 2: guitarist Terry Cath was still alive. No, just as a musician,
- 11:06Speaker 2: not a good one. But as a musician they were
- 11:09Speaker 2: astounding as a band. I mean like jaw dropping good
- 11:14Speaker 2: back when having big boobs and shiny legs and four
- 11:18Speaker 2: hundred backup dancers wasn't what brought people to a hall.
- 11:23Speaker 2: It was just music.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I just read the other day Jimmy Hendrix thought Terry
- 11:27Speaker 1: cath was the best guitar player on earth.
- 11:29Speaker 2: He was his favorite guitarist.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's interesting.
- 11:32Speaker 2: He's a whale of a singer too.
- 11:33Speaker 1: But anyway, Toto, as I mentioned, along with menet Work
- 11:36Speaker 1: and Christopher Cross and Ate far down to paradise. At
- 11:39Speaker 1: least it's not for me. Burton Cummings.
- 11:43Speaker 2: We mentioned man.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Air supply the Beach Boys.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Cummings is opening for air supply.
- 11:49Speaker 1: The Beach Boys. If you're reliving your early sixties heyday
- 11:55Speaker 1: by going to see what's left of the Beach Boys,
- 11:58Speaker 1: please find God or I don't know, hand out food
- 12:02Speaker 1: and no folks home. Find something to do with your life.
- 12:05Speaker 2: The Beach grandsons would be like in their sixties right
- 12:09Speaker 2: right heck yeah, or fifties certainly.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Wow.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I mean, if you're a grown man in nineteen sixty two,
- 12:22Speaker 2: my dad sixty.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Two years later, Yeah, you're my dad.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Well yeah, so your grandson's absolutely could be, you know,
- 12:30Speaker 2: on stage playing music.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Heck ya, Frankie Valley in the Four Seasons. Frankie Valley's
- 12:38Speaker 1: still alive.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Oh oh wait, wait, wait wait wait. There was a
- 12:42Speaker 2: video went viral late last year about a forgive me.
- 12:48Speaker 2: It's not his fault, it's his family's fault and the
- 12:50Speaker 2: people around him. A clearly senile, unable to sing Frankie
- 12:57Speaker 2: Valley being led up to a microphone, looking around, confusedly,
- 13:01Speaker 2: kind of mounting along to what was obviously a backup track.
- 13:04Speaker 1: It was wow.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Now, maybe he was having a bad night like Joe
- 13:08Speaker 2: Biden did when he had a cold at that date.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It's probably similar. It's probably some nights it's okay, and
- 13:13Speaker 1: a lot of nights it's not.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Oh, it was sad. It was sad.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Wow, Oh what a night. The Righteous Brothers Tommy James
- 13:23Speaker 1: and the Chandells.
- 13:25Speaker 2: You better be righteous brothers because you're gonna meet Gus.
- 13:27Speaker 1: So there's the Happy Together tour featuring The Turtles, Bad Finger,
- 13:33Speaker 1: The Association, Jay and the Americans, the Vogues and the councils.
- 13:40Speaker 1: You gotta be an oldies fan. Woh wow, that is
- 13:45Speaker 1: a sad lineup. I know a lot of you don't
- 13:47Speaker 1: have any idea who any of those groups are taken
- 13:50Speaker 1: from us. That is a sad lineup.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Well, I just I guess I don't know. You've been
- 13:57Speaker 2: an accountant or school bus driver for the past thirty
- 14:01Speaker 2: five years and somebody says, hey, I'll give you ten
- 14:04Speaker 2: k to play a few shows. I'd say, when do
- 14:06Speaker 2: we start, right? But it's it's wow, I'm sorry, I'm
- 14:11Speaker 2: you brought me low with the costles.
- 14:15Speaker 1: God. I introduced the association for a radio station in
- 14:19Speaker 1: the mid eighties and they were what would they be, Joe,
- 14:23Speaker 1: twenty years past their prime? Then fifteen at least?
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, everyone knows it's early seventies soft rock.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Okay, so they're late sixties they were, they were there
- 14:34Speaker 1: were fifteen years past the prime. Anyway. It was sad then,
- 14:37Speaker 1: I mean the audience was sad. It was like five
- 14:39Speaker 1: bucks to get in in the middle of nowhere, small
- 14:41Speaker 1: town Kansas. What are they now? Me? I just can't
- 14:45Speaker 1: even imagine better known names. Leonard skinnerd is touring in
- 14:49Speaker 1: twenty twenty five my son have loved that still around.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I have no idea who's in Leonard skinnerd at this point. Yeah,
- 14:56Speaker 1: Zz Tops Elevation Tour.
- 14:59Speaker 2: They got two out of three. It's not bad, uh
- 15:03Speaker 2: as all. And they got you know what, And I
- 15:05Speaker 2: can't decide if this is crass. It's show business for
- 15:07Speaker 2: God's sake. But they found a guy who looks just
- 15:11Speaker 2: like their original bass player passed away. Dusty Hill has
- 15:14Speaker 2: got the long beard and everything and sounds great.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Well, there are some groups there's just like a couple
- 15:19Speaker 1: of key people you have to have, Like the Eagles,
- 15:21Speaker 1: you gotta have Don Henley. I mean, if he so,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you can still pull it off. And it's like the
- 15:27Speaker 1: way Dead and Company is. You got Bob Weir up there,
- 15:29Speaker 1: and you put John Mayer next to him, It's it's fine.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I think with like zz Top, as long as you
- 15:34Speaker 1: got the Reverend up there, you're okay. You can pull
- 15:38Speaker 1: it off. Marshall Tucker Band, Little Feet, Ozark, Mountain, Daredevil's
- 15:43Speaker 1: Graham nash Al Stewart, The Year of the Social Security
- 15:47Speaker 1: Check Well, Don McClain, Oh, Janice Ean Oldest.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Don mclelain, I don't know Janesee at seventeen was Don McLean.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I asked my watch, and my watch tells me he's
- 16:05Speaker 1: seventy nine. Okay, geneseean Alice Cooper, she's good. Gene Simmons
- 16:13Speaker 1: on his own now, the bass player from Kiss plays
- 16:17Speaker 1: and he doesn't sing, does he?
- 16:18Speaker 2: He doesn't need the money?
- 16:20Speaker 1: No, he really does money.
- 16:21Speaker 2: He sings a handful of others.
- 16:22Speaker 1: He really doesn't need the money. He's the richest one
- 16:24Speaker 1: of all of them, right because he became a T
- 16:26Speaker 1: shirt guy.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Oh, brilliant, brilliant businessman. Yeah, he sings. Uh, I want
- 16:30Speaker 2: a rock and roll all night.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Oh okay, I didn't know that. Yeah, boy, my friends
- 16:35Speaker 1: from junior High would kill me for not knowing that.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I wasn't into Kiss. My all my friends were super
- 16:39Speaker 1: indicate me neither.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I thought it was stupid.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Fog hat we mentioned. I think Kansas, the group Blue
- 16:47Speaker 1: Oyster Cult thirty eight Special Ace Freely, a different guy
- 16:51Speaker 1: from Kiss who apparently can't get along with Gene Simmons
- 16:53Speaker 1: so they can't play again.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Of amazing players, Kansas is underrated as just as musicians.
- 16:59Speaker 2: They were unbelo believable and probably still are.
- 17:04Speaker 1: George Thoroughgood is bad to his very calcified bones.
- 17:08Speaker 2: He stopped touring for a week in nineteen eighty eight,
- 17:12Speaker 2: and that's the only time he's been off the road.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I'm going to save this one for last because they've
- 17:15Speaker 1: kind of become a big deal in like recent months
- 17:18Speaker 1: for some reason. Uh, Steve Miller band. Oh, my son
- 17:21Speaker 1: would love that. That. I will go too, and I
- 17:23Speaker 1: will take Henry to Steve Miller band. And I saw
- 17:25Speaker 1: him a couple of years ago on TV and it
- 17:27Speaker 1: was cool. He was still good and his band is
- 17:29Speaker 1: freaking amazing.
- 17:30Speaker 2: So I've told this story before, but when my daughter, Delaney,
- 17:33Speaker 2: who is now twenty five, was a freshman in college,
- 17:35Speaker 2: she texted me she said, Dad, you know it's a
- 17:37Speaker 2: great song, The Joker by the Steve.
- 17:41Speaker 1: There you go.
- 17:41Speaker 2: And I texted back, you damn right, sweetheart, you damn right.
- 17:45Speaker 1: It was interesting. I can remember when Henry heard that
- 17:47Speaker 1: from the first time. There's there's my son, my older
- 17:49Speaker 1: son who like only likes rap, has that on his playlist.
- 17:52Speaker 1: There are some songs that the first time everybody hears him,
- 17:55Speaker 1: it's like that freaking is awesome. That's one of them. Yes,
- 17:59Speaker 1: umm Iggy Pop, Southside Johnny Jefferson's Starship Wow, Rick Wakeman
