- 0:29Speaker 2: week the undead reanimated.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Corpse of Scott uh semi strongest Beard Bowders.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Whoa, whoa fighting words Lombardo. Yes, despite the rumors, the
- 0:49Speaker 4: my what are they? What's what is the saying? The
- 0:52Speaker 4: reports of my death have been been exaggerated? Yes, so
- 0:59Speaker 4: I am here.
- 1:00Speaker 5: How do we know you're not a transporter clone, that
- 1:03Speaker 5: the real strong is gone?
- 1:05Speaker 4: You don't? Yes?
- 1:09Speaker 5: Oh, I like the hologram.
- 1:11Speaker 4: I'm I'm actually I'm a transporter clone and I'm actually
- 1:14Speaker 4: gonna go by Allen.
- 1:15Speaker 5: Now so or shape shifting Angeline.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Allen is my middle name?
- 1:21Speaker 5: Alan okay, so.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Okay, Thomas Riker.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it desertates, cool with it. She's she's just jazzed
- 1:29Speaker 3: at how spicy it is now.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Like the old days. Absolutely, absolutely, yeah, I guess we're
- 1:37Speaker 4: gonna have to ask her.
- 1:41Speaker 5: You might let us know.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Absolutely, give me a second. I forgot to send my
- 1:47Speaker 4: mam a link to the show.
- 1:49Speaker 5: Oh is that what you watches? You tell her watch?
- 1:53Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, we need the numbers.
- 1:57Speaker 5: That's right, Look what I do.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Yep, yep.
- 2:06Speaker 5: So how you guys been. It's been a couple of weeks.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Busy, a lot of stuff going on, a lot of
- 2:12Speaker 4: stuff going on. We went camping last weekend weekend before
- 2:18Speaker 4: my wife and I had our twenty second wedding anniversary.
- 2:21Speaker 4: We stayed at a bed and breakfast a few towns
- 2:24Speaker 4: over by the lake Shore, had a little motorcycle trip
- 2:28Speaker 4: last weekend. We went camping for my birthday, and yesterday
- 2:34Speaker 4: my buddy Andrew and I hosted a reunion for my
- 2:37Speaker 4: army unit that went overseas so it was state parks.
- 2:41Speaker 4: That was a lot of fun, got a lot of guys.
- 2:43Speaker 4: I hadn't seen it in a while. So yeah, right on.
- 2:49Speaker 4: So that's really my three weeks in a nutshell.
- 2:52Speaker 5: Okay, okay, how about you, Dan, I know you've been.
- 2:56Speaker 3: I've been on vacation for the last nine This is
- 3:00Speaker 3: my last day vacation. See I'm still I'm still dressed for.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Yeah, this is my last day of vacation, isn't it?
- 3:10Speaker 4: The worst is I'm glad to get back to work
- 3:15Speaker 4: because I I I'm like, okay, let me quote Commander Riker.
- 3:22Speaker 4: I'm really not good at organizing my time off, and
- 3:26Speaker 4: I find that the routine of working like I'm on vacation.
- 3:30Speaker 4: That's a staycation. My wife's working. You know. I have
- 3:33Speaker 4: one son that's in college and he's we moved him
- 3:35Speaker 4: to a college on Tuesday, and so I don't know
- 3:38Speaker 4: when to get up. I don't know when to go
- 3:40Speaker 4: to bed. I don't know when to eat, I don't
- 3:42Speaker 4: you know, I don't know when to work out. I
- 3:44Speaker 4: don't know when to do anything. And so I'm like,
- 3:47Speaker 4: I had all these grand ideas that I was gonna,
- 3:49Speaker 4: you know, come in to do this project and that project,
- 3:51Speaker 4: and none of them got done. So I'm ready to
- 3:53Speaker 4: get back to work so I can get into a routine.
- 3:57Speaker 3: So you're ready to have less free time, so get
- 4:00Speaker 3: more done. Got it exactly?
- 4:05Speaker 5: This is how it works.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Love the hat.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Yeah, welcome to Jurassic Bark.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Well he's like a girl.
- 4:15Speaker 5: That's right, that's right, right on. Yeah, Well, should we
- 4:21Speaker 5: get to the Star Trek News.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Oh, this is this is trick cat.
- 4:27Speaker 5: That's right.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Star Trek News.
- 4:32Speaker 5: All right, so our first news story. You know, it's
- 4:35Speaker 5: been a couple of weeks, so we haven't caught up
- 4:37Speaker 5: on some things, but that's gonna be our first news story.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Actually, I know I figured.
- 4:45Speaker 5: I figured, yeah, we didn't really get into their big
- 4:50Speaker 5: UFC deal. I don't know if you saw that a
- 4:52Speaker 5: couple of weeks ago. They have bought the rights to
- 4:56Speaker 5: all the UFC pay per views for seven years, for
- 5:00Speaker 5: seven I think the seven point seven billion something like that. Yeah,
- 5:06Speaker 5: it's insane. So it looks like from here on out,
- 5:09Speaker 5: or from twenty twenty six on out, if you want
- 5:13Speaker 5: to watch the pay per views or UFC, you'll be
- 5:16Speaker 5: watching it on Paramount Plus. They will also be having
- 5:19Speaker 5: them on CBS. Some of them is what the they're saying,
- 5:23Speaker 5: so whatever. But the other wave now is that there's
- 5:28Speaker 5: going to be budget cuts because you know, you bought
- 5:31Speaker 5: a company it was doing bad, and now you're spending
- 5:35Speaker 5: a ton of money, so now comes the cuts. So
- 5:38Speaker 5: first wave of cuts is going to exceed about two
- 5:41Speaker 5: billion dollars. That's billion with the b not million. So
- 5:47Speaker 5: here they come. The job cuts will be coming in November,
- 5:51Speaker 5: and what their brass is saying tops at Paramount, they're
- 5:56Speaker 5: hoping to do all the cuts at once and then
- 5:59Speaker 5: be done with it. They don't want to do a
- 6:01Speaker 5: quarter after quarter of cuts and cuts and cuts. They
- 6:04Speaker 5: just wanted to rip the band aid off and then
- 6:06Speaker 5: be done nice in theory. We'll see if that actually happens.
- 6:13Speaker 5: We do know that they've already cut one show. They
- 6:16Speaker 5: did a I guess they did a young one. It's
- 6:21Speaker 5: not the one you want, uh. They they got rid
- 6:23Speaker 5: of They got rid of a Dexter spinoff. They were
- 6:26Speaker 5: doing Dexter Original Sin. It was basically their version of
- 6:31Speaker 5: Young Sheldon but with serial killer Dexter Kid. Legitimately, that
- 6:39Speaker 5: was a show. Apparently it was very well received and
- 6:42Speaker 5: and uh they had already promised a season two, but yeah,
- 6:46Speaker 5: they decided against that, So no more Dexter Original Sin,
- 6:51Speaker 5: which is very disappointing for that cast and crew. But yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 5: there's there's plenty of time for to uh to batgirls
- 6:59Speaker 5: some stuff. So we'll see. Two billions is a big
- 7:03Speaker 5: number to get to.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yeah, they need that tax right off money.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah. So, like I said, this is all going
- 7:12Speaker 5: to be happening in November, so you know, we got
- 7:16Speaker 5: some time that they've got to go through their books
- 7:19Speaker 5: and decide what's worth and what's not.
- 7:21Speaker 4: So now refreshment memories. Okay, sky Dance is the one
- 7:26Speaker 4: at bottom.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Right, yes, correct, yea, and.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Sky Dance has been involved in Star Trek before they have.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Yeah, they did two of the three. Yeah, they produced
- 7:37Speaker 5: two of the three JJ films.
- 7:39Speaker 4: The second or the third.
- 7:42Speaker 5: The second and third.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, they're.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Also yeah, they're they're also owned by well it's David
- 7:54Speaker 5: Ellis is the owner of sky Dance. His dad, I
- 7:57Speaker 5: forget the dad's name, uh owns Oracle, the software conglomerates.
- 8:03Speaker 5: So they have hundreds and hundreds of billions, like an
- 8:07Speaker 5: insane amount of money. So they're fine, it's just this
- 8:14Speaker 5: is what they're gonna do. AWE wants to know if
- 8:17Speaker 5: we're gonna go on Safari with Dan.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Yeah, we're gonna try to get out of Jurassic Park alive.
- 8:25Speaker 5: That's that's right. So yeah, so two billion dollars is
- 8:30Speaker 5: gonna be cut. That's the goal. So there you go,
- 8:33Speaker 5: flaps down.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Yeah, now you look like the old man.
- 8:39Speaker 5: That's right, Welcome to Jurassic Park.
- 8:41Speaker 4: What if what if I do one? Then I look
- 8:43Speaker 4: Australia that looks actually more like the the They should
- 8:48Speaker 4: all be destroyed.
- 8:52Speaker 5: I get up.
- 8:54Speaker 4: So now you. Now, you look like you're about right
- 9:00Speaker 4: to drive some cars really fast and rob some semi.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Trucks out back.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Dan carried into your podcast. Dan's got a Safari hat
- 9:17Speaker 4: that he just ye know, we can't pick it out
- 9:19Speaker 4: of them, and finally he just took it off. And
- 9:21Speaker 4: for the fans that don't know Dan, Dan Lombardo is
- 9:25Speaker 4: a beautiful man.
- 9:26Speaker 5: That's right.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Eddie happens to have a bald head.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Uh yeah. There was also news that uh, oh yeah,
- 9:38Speaker 5: we're still doing the yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we're
- 9:41Speaker 5: trying to at least. There was also news that they
- 9:47Speaker 5: may be cutting other shows in the future, so we
- 9:51Speaker 5: will see and you know, so things could be backgirld
- 9:54Speaker 5: for sure. Yeah yeah, I know, dance like, let's get
- 9:59Speaker 5: rid of that that that academy. But the other thing
- 10:04Speaker 5: too was, uh, it was recently announced that that Star
- 10:10Speaker 5: Trek was a priority, right, that's what they said. The
- 10:14Speaker 5: thing is, oh no, there goes Dan. The thing is
- 10:19Speaker 5: when when that came out, it's not like they made
- 10:22Speaker 5: a list and said here are the franchises that are
- 10:25Speaker 5: priorities for us here at Paramount. It's they were asked
- 10:30Speaker 5: at at a press conference like hey, so what are
- 10:32Speaker 5: the priorities? What's going on? And they just went, oh,
- 10:36Speaker 5: the Star Trek and like they were just rattling off right,
- 10:41Speaker 5: So oh no, Dan, your screen went black. Yeah, we
- 10:51Speaker 5: could hear you. So so basically it's not really certain
- 10:56Speaker 5: how much of a priority Star Trek really is. It's
- 10:59Speaker 5: not like they and said, hey, we're gonna invest a
- 11:01Speaker 5: billion dollars and really just go nuts with Star Trek.
- 11:04Speaker 5: They get that with the UFC, right, So, like what
- 11:08Speaker 5: they say is the priority, what actually is? It could
- 11:11Speaker 5: be two different things, right, there's Dan, So who knows.
- 11:17Speaker 5: But speaking of Star Trek, our next new story comes
- 11:20Speaker 5: to us from space dot Com and I don't know
- 11:24Speaker 5: if you saw this, but we're getting a new Star
- 11:27Speaker 5: Trek game, Star Trek Voyager Across the Unknown. So yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 5: so here's the if you're watching it on on YouTube,
- 11:38Speaker 5: we've got the trailer going right now. But it is
- 11:41Speaker 5: going to be a game coming out on the PS five, stream, PC,
- 11:48Speaker 5: Xbox whatever the latest Xbox is is what I saw.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Don't have a release date yet. People seem to be
- 11:57Speaker 5: thinking maybe next year because next year is the sixtieth
- 12:00Speaker 5: anniversary on Star Trek. So oh, but this is just
- 12:05Speaker 5: the first trailer. Don't know much about the game. Looks
- 12:09Speaker 5: pretty cool, it looks you know.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I mean these are all right, yeah, yeah, I don't
- 12:17Speaker 4: see any gameplay shots here. And I read somewhere that
- 12:20Speaker 4: this is you know, the tagline is your Journey. Yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 4: and so it kind of and there's a lot of
- 12:26Speaker 4: the scenes that we saw. There were something we saw
- 12:29Speaker 4: some Kason tips and tips. So it seems like it's
- 12:34Speaker 4: missions that take place while they were still stuck in
- 12:36Speaker 4: the in the Delta quadrant, right, So I don't know
- 12:41Speaker 4: if you get to yeah, I would like to. One
- 12:44Speaker 4: of the rumors that I read about it was you
- 12:46Speaker 4: get to redo some of the missions that they did.
- 12:48Speaker 4: So how would you how would you have done the
- 12:52Speaker 4: caretaker missions? You know, how would you have taken done
- 12:57Speaker 4: the you know, the first encounter with the board. Who
- 13:00Speaker 4: would you have made a deal with them or not?
- 13:01Speaker 5: So is there a level where you have awkward relationship
- 13:05Speaker 5: conversations with Nelix and Cass Well yeah, And.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Then I think it's like a choose your own adventure,
- 13:10Speaker 4: Like you're sitting there and it's like, do you kill
- 13:13Speaker 4: two Vicks or do you not kill two Vics?
- 13:16Speaker 5: Do you choose one not my special boy. He lives.
- 13:20Speaker 5: Yeah yeah. Everyone is like, well two Vicks live. Yeah yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 5: So I mean I wonder if what is that game
- 13:30Speaker 5: where the minute you make a choice of changes things
- 13:33Speaker 5: down the road in the game, Like if they did
- 13:36Speaker 5: that where you could have to live and you get yeah,
- 13:42Speaker 5: that could be fun.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, whoa.
- 13:50Speaker 5: Who was that? Let's wake he's all settled, and then
- 13:55Speaker 5: I'll bring them in, okay, And then our last news
- 14:00Speaker 5: story comes to us from star Trek dot com. Let
- 14:04Speaker 5: me bring this up. Since we're talking about the unknown
- 14:07Speaker 5: what could have been, we are getting a little bit
- 14:10Speaker 5: more about what could have been Star Trek Legacy. Yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 5: So a couple weeks ago at STLV Star Trek Las Vegas,
- 14:21Speaker 5: Terry Mettalis was there, which was pretty cool. Oh Dan
- 14:28Speaker 5: is not there. I don't know.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Dan says, I completely lost all audio. I'm gonna do
- 14:32Speaker 4: a full restart. I don't know what.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Okay, all right, So okay, So Terry Metallis was was
- 14:39Speaker 5: at STLV a couple of weeks ago, and so he
- 14:42Speaker 5: talked a little bit about Star Trek Legacy, and he
- 14:45Speaker 5: did still hold out the hope that you know, hey,
- 14:47Speaker 5: you never know, maybe someday. But he did tell us
- 14:51Speaker 5: a little bit. He did say that they had written
- 14:54Speaker 5: the pilot and he was very happy with it. He
- 14:58Speaker 5: did say that, yes, Shaw would return. He even told
- 15:02Speaker 5: us how Shaw would return. Shaw would be the emergency
- 15:07Speaker 5: engineering hologram.
- 15:10Speaker 4: I like it.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Yeah, that they called them behind the scenes, they called
- 15:14Speaker 5: it the the shallogram. Yeah.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Uh.
- 15:20Speaker 5: He did tease that while there is a big overarching
- 15:23Speaker 5: story that they have for legacy, you wouldn't see that
- 15:28Speaker 5: entirely laid out in the pilot. It would be slowly
- 15:31Speaker 5: revealed over the seasons. Yeah, with the big which is great,
- 15:35Speaker 5: that's fine. But he didn't say that, yes, Klingons would
- 15:39Speaker 5: be involved. That's not to say that the Klingons would
- 15:42Speaker 5: be the big overall story. It's just that they would
- 15:46Speaker 5: be a component at some point.
- 15:48Speaker 4: So okay, whatever. But yeah, God, this sounds incredibly racist,
- 15:55Speaker 4: but I hope it's the right Klingons.
- 16:00Speaker 5: All right, send your letters to Scott people, you.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Know what I mean. That's that's got something horrible racial parallels.
- 16:12Speaker 4: But you everybody knows.
- 16:14Speaker 5: We even pause talking like like, uh, William Shtner, horrible, Rachel.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Parallel, Dan, don't don't even come back. You getting in
- 16:25Speaker 4: the middle of something.
- 16:26Speaker 5: That's right, that's right, that's right.
- 16:29Speaker 4: We're all going yeah, yeah, that's fine. Fine.
- 16:36Speaker 5: So yeah, So apparently a lot of fans were just
- 16:39Speaker 5: very excited to ask Terry Mettell has a ton of
- 16:41Speaker 5: questions about legacy, and uh, yeah.
- 16:46Speaker 4: I think a wolf has it right, he says Dan
- 16:48Speaker 4: audio only Lebardo.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, seriously, can we move to a universe where
- 16:54Speaker 5: legacy existence at the Academy? No, we're we're in the
- 16:57Speaker 5: wrong timeline, We're in the wrong online.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, absolutely so.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Yeah. So that's that's all the news that I've got.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Oh yeah, we should probably get into the Okay, yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 4: we should probably get into the episode. We have two
- 17:12Speaker 4: episodes to cover.
- 17:13Speaker 5: Yeah, we do, so let's get to it.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Fine, will now command?
- 17:23Speaker 5: All right, So we have two episodes to go through,
- 17:28Speaker 5: Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season three, Episode six and seven,
- 17:35Speaker 5: The Who Aid Its Tale? And what is Starfleet? Uh?
- 17:40Speaker 5: Do we just want to go one at a time
- 17:41Speaker 5: with each one?
- 17:42Speaker 4: Yeah? I might as well. Let's start with the Shalot
- 17:43Speaker 4: who it Ate? The Tale's kind of run real quick.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, if you want to do you want to
- 17:48Speaker 5: do the recap?
- 17:50Speaker 4: I don't have it in front of me, but well, yeah,
- 17:53Speaker 4: base basically, uh, Commander Kirk. Commander Kirk is the second
- 17:57Speaker 4: in command, uh the fair It is sent to do
- 18:01Speaker 4: something at a planet. The planet explodes and really screws
- 18:06Speaker 4: up the Farragut. The Enterprise comes to rescue it, and
- 18:08Speaker 4: a big giant ship shows up and swallows one of them,
- 18:11Speaker 4: and they have to figure out how to save the
- 18:14Speaker 4: Enterprise and then there's a big reveal at the end.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Right, So, yeah, it's the first time Kirk got to
- 18:23Speaker 5: take command of a ship. Not necessarily a surprise, but he.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Got to take command of a ship. Unfortunately, he uses
- 18:31Speaker 4: the same courier service to get his command ability that
- 18:34Speaker 4: Captain Harriman got of the Enterprise. B It's not coming
- 18:38Speaker 4: until Tuesday, right, right, Yeah, I like this episode. This
- 18:47Speaker 4: was a fantastic episode. Yeah, this was I liked. I
- 18:53Speaker 4: wasn't a big fan of just how inept Kirk's Like
- 18:56Speaker 4: they really portrayed it like this was his first time,
- 19:00Speaker 4: you know, And they mentioned it in the episode. They're like,
- 19:02Speaker 4: has he had the con before? Horace, has he had
- 19:05Speaker 4: the con before? And She's like twice including this time,
- 19:09Speaker 4: And I'm like Okay, if you are a gold shirt
- 19:13Speaker 4: in this era, you know, if you're in the command structure.
- 19:16Speaker 4: He's been in the command structure since he was an ensign,
- 19:21Speaker 4: so he's led away teams, he's led shuttles's. He was
- 19:24Speaker 4: probably a leader at the academy. I know he's young,
- 19:28Speaker 4: but he's you know, this isn't the first time he's
- 19:31Speaker 4: been in a crisis. It might be the first time
- 19:32Speaker 4: he's been in a huge crisis in command, but you know,
- 19:37Speaker 4: people are afforded an opportunity to show their command.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Well, it wasn't just that, it was he had pushed
- 19:46Speaker 5: to to be aggressive in the beginning, and because of
- 19:50Speaker 5: that aggression, it's what caused the problems, right right, They
- 19:56Speaker 5: were investigating something, so that rattled him. He's the one
- 20:00Speaker 5: who put them in trouble. So it's not that he
- 20:02Speaker 5: hadn't been in command before. You're right. He had been
- 20:05Speaker 5: in command of certain things. It's that now he realized, Oh,
- 20:08Speaker 5: I can't just willy nilly do these things just go
- 20:12Speaker 5: off my gut. I have to really think about things.
- 20:14Speaker 5: And yeah, and and my decisions have actions, or my
- 20:18Speaker 5: decisions have consequences.
- 20:20Speaker 4: So yeah, no, you're right, You're right, And you know,
- 20:23Speaker 4: I just kept thinking Kobayashi Maru, right right. But yeah,
- 20:30Speaker 4: Captain keV uh he says, it's hard to see that.
- 20:34Speaker 4: You know, the Kirk is unsure, but they do have
- 20:36Speaker 4: five years. You know, they take command to the Enterprise,
- 20:38Speaker 4: so it's progression. So, uh, the Farra gets in trouble.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Uh they go to investigative. Planet explodes and they are
- 20:47Speaker 4: messed up. And I love the scene where the Enterprise
- 20:50Speaker 4: warps in phasers firing to like we've never we've seen
- 20:55Speaker 4: we've seen Star Trek where they use phasers to like
- 20:57Speaker 4: blow up asteroids and chunks of whatever. But they came
- 21:00Speaker 4: in and the first thing they did, they were ready. Man.
- 21:03Speaker 4: They came in. They started blowing the large trunks to
- 21:05Speaker 4: protect the Farragut, and then they sort of moved in
- 21:09Speaker 4: to protect you know, they use their own body basically
- 21:13Speaker 4: to protect the farragut. You know, the rocks bouncing off
- 21:16Speaker 4: the shields. I thought visual on that shot was fantastic.
- 21:20Speaker 5: So I gotta say this because if you're just listening
- 21:23Speaker 5: to the show, you're not saying this. But if you're
- 21:26Speaker 5: just listening, as we talk about the shows, I bring
- 21:29Speaker 5: up stills that I get provided to us from Paramount
- 21:32Speaker 5: about just like they're supposed to be just still shots
- 21:36Speaker 5: of the episode, right, it's all. It's supposed to be
- 21:39Speaker 5: just screenshots of the episode. But for whatever reason, in
- 21:43Speaker 5: this episode the show its tail. They have all these
- 21:47Speaker 5: like behind the scene pictures where literally the actors are
- 21:50Speaker 5: looking directly to camera if they're posing for pictures, and
- 21:54Speaker 5: they just threw those in and so it's hilarious, like
- 21:58Speaker 5: we have a group shot here for no reason.
- 22:01Speaker 4: I'll take the group shot though, I.
- 22:03Speaker 5: Mean, here's perjured studio, you know. Yeah, yeah, it's it's
- 22:08Speaker 5: it's cracking me up. But anyways, yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 4: You were saying, Scott, Yeah, so I I just love
- 22:14Speaker 4: that shot. Yeah, it was great. So they get they
- 22:20Speaker 4: they there's a lot of what do they beam on
- 22:22Speaker 4: board the Farragut, and the Farraguts messed up the captain's
- 22:26Speaker 4: uh in sick bay uh. Nurse Chapel sort of takes
- 22:29Speaker 4: command of the because the Fergus medical officers dead, and right.
- 22:33Speaker 5: Away A Wolf says, wasn't the chartist in this episode? Yes?
- 22:38Speaker 4: It was?
- 22:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Enterprise is entangled inside the alien ship. They do some
- 22:45Speaker 4: panting shots around it. You can you can do artists. Yeah,
- 22:49Speaker 4: like actually the enterprise, it's kind of cool, but I
- 22:53Speaker 4: had an issue with the comms being gone down. You know,
- 22:59Speaker 4: whether the com work or not is always depending on
- 23:01Speaker 4: the storyline, your community, your personal communicator should always work.
- 23:05Speaker 4: And they always do the run around of oh, there's
- 23:07Speaker 4: too much interference, come on right right, I bet my
- 23:14Speaker 4: walkie talkie, could you know, easily take care of that,
- 23:16Speaker 4: and later on in the episode they find out work
- 23:18Speaker 4: around for it. Yeah, the Vulcan captain of the Farragut
- 23:24Speaker 4: at least it looks Falcan captain, green blood and pointy
- 23:27Speaker 4: ears and logical attitudes. So we find out that the
- 23:33Speaker 4: chief is five thousand years old.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I can't remember her name.
- 23:40Speaker 4: I can't remember the actress's name. Oh Pelly, yeah, Pelly.
- 23:44Speaker 4: She's five thousand years old, and apparently she collects a
- 23:47Speaker 4: bunch of junk, including telephones. Yeah, yeah, she goes this
- 23:53Speaker 4: is one of the few times I'm glad I lived
- 23:54Speaker 4: through the nineteen eighties. They're having communication issues.
- 23:58Speaker 5: So God, I wanted her gonna have like a Garfield phone.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Oh that would have been great. But she did have
- 24:04Speaker 4: one of those kitty cat wall clocks. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 24:08Speaker 4: that was fantastic.
- 24:09Speaker 7: That was great.
- 24:11Speaker 4: So yeah, we're quickly running through the episode. Uh, they're
- 24:14Speaker 4: the Farragut is in bad shape, but they're able to
- 24:18Speaker 4: warp and assist the Enterprise that is enveloped in this
- 24:23Speaker 4: giant and I mean giant star base sized ship, and
- 24:30Speaker 4: Pike is on the Enterprise, some of the crews on
- 24:35Speaker 4: the Enterprise, some of the crews on the Farragut. But
- 24:38Speaker 4: a long story shot is they're trying to rescue the
- 24:41Speaker 4: Enterprise using a crippled Farragut and they're able to They're
- 24:48Speaker 4: able to get the Enterprise free and out of the
- 24:52Speaker 4: alien ship, and they go to this they have this
- 24:57Speaker 4: great idea to destroy the alien ship. They actually, I
- 25:00Speaker 4: don't know if I've ever seen this in Star Trek,
- 25:02Speaker 4: they used the cells of the Farragut as like battery
- 25:06Speaker 4: and ram missiles. They detach and then fly towards the
- 25:08Speaker 4: alien ship. They disable it, and they decide we're gonna
- 25:14Speaker 4: shoot some photon torpedoes inside the mouth and blow it up,
- 25:18Speaker 4: and they start scanning for life signs. At the same time,
- 25:21Speaker 4: Pike and Noonion and Singh are approaching one of the
- 25:25Speaker 4: dead aliens and to no surprise to me, I called
- 25:30Speaker 4: this real early on in the episode. Usually, I'm pretty
- 25:35Speaker 4: I usually shut my brain off when I watch stuff
- 25:37Speaker 4: like this and just enjoy it. I usually can't figure
- 25:39Speaker 4: out the surprise reveal until you know, and I'm usually like, oh, well,
- 25:44Speaker 4: that's really cool. This time about once a year, I
- 25:47Speaker 4: called it. And they take the helmet off of the alien,
- 25:50Speaker 4: this grotesque looking helmet, you know, and it's a human.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Spoiler Alert's right, that's right, So there are seventh I
- 26:00Speaker 4: was in of them floating in space and there's nothing
- 26:02Speaker 4: they can do about it. So that's it. What did
- 26:06Speaker 4: you think of the episode?
- 26:07Speaker 5: I thought it was all right. It was weird to
- 26:11Speaker 5: see Kirk so unsure of himself so rattled, you know
- 26:16Speaker 5: that that took me out of it a little bit.
- 26:19Speaker 5: But at the same time I realized what they were
- 26:21Speaker 5: going for, so I was okay with it.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 5: Yeah, so yeah, No, I liked it overall.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I liked it overall. Yeah. Will R. Says was
- 26:32Speaker 4: a giant, stupid looking ship. Yeah. Abell says, I love
- 26:36Speaker 4: how our tagas versus suit. When when Pella handed her
- 26:39Speaker 4: the telephone, it was one of those fret style Victorian phones. Yeah,
- 26:43Speaker 4: and uh she first assumed that it was a muscles.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Yes, yes, I kind of like this. Uh this sporty
- 26:53Speaker 5: aggressive turn they're giving towards Ortegas. I like that.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah so do I so do I pellas Captain
- 27:04Speaker 4: Keza's Pella's a massive hoarder.
- 27:09Speaker 5: But should we get to the next episode?
- 27:13Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, overall I liked this episode and yeah it
- 27:17Speaker 4: was it was cool. There wasn't any reference this these
- 27:20Speaker 4: the species wasn't a reference to anything else. This is
- 27:22Speaker 4: a standalone Uh okay, Now they did explain the human
- 27:27Speaker 4: before we move on. They did explain that the humans
- 27:31Speaker 4: were from a group of astronauts from after just after
- 27:36Speaker 4: the Third World War. Okay, so start your first contact
- 27:39Speaker 4: takes place ten years after the Third World War. This
- 27:42Speaker 4: takes place, we're assuming maybe two or three, four or
- 27:45Speaker 4: five years after the Third World War, where the world's
- 27:49Speaker 4: nations scraped together what remained of their space program and
- 27:52Speaker 4: sent the best of the best out to space to
- 27:55Speaker 4: go find another planet. Basically mhm so, and they didn't.
- 28:00Speaker 5: They did make an invention about like those those humans
- 28:04Speaker 5: were supposed to be the best of us, and now
- 28:06Speaker 5: look at what they've become and that that's so sad
- 28:09Speaker 5: yead of like a like a starfleet needs to watch
- 28:12Speaker 5: themselves and that we don't become that either, like a
- 28:15Speaker 5: cautionary table.
- 28:17Speaker 8: Yeah, so exactly, Yeah, oh, Doug, Alexander says, in addition
- 28:26Speaker 8: to the artist, the writer said he tried to get
- 28:28Speaker 8: some of the Jupiter too, to be inside the big
- 28:32Speaker 8: ugly ship when it blew up.
- 28:33Speaker 5: That would have been awesome. Oh yeah, so Biager, maybe.
- 28:41Speaker 4: I'm sorry I was reading what Dan. Dan says that
- 28:43Speaker 4: his phone's overheating. Oh yeah, yeah, he needs he needs
- 28:47Speaker 4: some plasma.
- 28:48Speaker 5: That's right. You gotta reverse the polarity on it.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Always always melt the flesh right off your bones.
- 28:57Speaker 5: Yeah, so now we what is uh? Starfleet? So this
- 29:05Speaker 5: episode was a little bit different. It was shot like
- 29:08Speaker 5: a documentary. It was supposed to be Betto Ortegas's brother's documentary,
- 29:15Speaker 5: right yeah, and a lot of behind the scenes looks
- 29:20Speaker 5: shot completely different than any other episode. It even starts
- 29:24Speaker 5: with like a graphic saying that this is a classified video,
- 29:28Speaker 5: which that was interesting to me. Why would they classify
- 29:31Speaker 5: as documentary because he was there to shoot it?
- 29:35Speaker 4: I mean yeah, I.
- 29:38Speaker 5: Mean it makes sense when you watch what happens.
- 29:41Speaker 4: Right right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I I the way it
- 29:47Speaker 4: was shot didn't really bug me. Normally with episodes like this,
- 29:51Speaker 4: when they shoot it differently, or you know, the crew
- 29:53Speaker 4: has to sing all their things or rhyme all their rhymes,
- 29:56Speaker 4: it starts to bug me after a while. This the
- 29:59Speaker 4: style of episode, as long as they don't do it
- 30:01Speaker 4: again anytime soon, was fine with me.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:05Speaker 4: Most of the episode was shot using either the little
- 30:09Speaker 4: drone flying drone that they have, or using security footage
- 30:13Speaker 4: from different places in the ship, you know, the hell
- 30:17Speaker 4: and security camera or the observation lounge security camera, that
- 30:22Speaker 4: kind of thing, right right. I didn't have a problem
- 30:25Speaker 4: with it.
- 30:27Speaker 5: You know, I did see that this episode specifically was
- 30:32Speaker 5: pretty divisive among Star Trek fans online. Some people loved it,
- 30:38Speaker 5: some people hated it.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it was.
- 30:41Speaker 5: It was really down the middle, and for different reasons.
- 30:46Speaker 5: But the episode basically is there's a creature that a
- 30:53Speaker 5: group of people are going to use that creature for
- 30:57Speaker 5: as a weapon of war, and Starflee has ordered the
- 31:01Speaker 5: Enterprise to help those people use that creature, and basically,
- 31:06Speaker 5: the uh, the Enterprise does not feel ethically that that's
- 31:11Speaker 5: the right thing. But they still have their orders and
- 31:15Speaker 5: they need to follow them. And so it's it's that conflict. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:23Speaker 5: which you know, I mean that's you're you're the military guy, Scott,
- 31:28Speaker 5: like I imagine you get orders every now and then that
- 31:30Speaker 5: you're not exactly the happiest to have.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Yeah, and it you know, the lower guys, you know,
- 31:36Speaker 4: the lower listed, you have to follow orders. You have
- 31:39Speaker 4: to because you don't understand what went on in that
- 31:42Speaker 4: room full of admirals. You know, you don't. And that's
- 31:46Speaker 4: why following orders is so important in a military structure
- 31:50Speaker 4: organization like Starfleet. And you know, and people might say, well,
- 31:53Speaker 4: Starfleet's not military. Yeah, Starfleet is based on the military.
- 31:58Speaker 4: They have rank, they have a rank structure, they have
- 32:00Speaker 4: a chain of command, and so from that point of view,
- 32:04Speaker 4: you know, unless unless you are given an order that's illegal,
- 32:08Speaker 4: you follow that order, right, you know. So, and I
- 32:13Speaker 4: understand the conflict. I mean, I I was a truck driver.
- 32:16Speaker 4: Nobody ever gave me orders that I had any like
- 32:19Speaker 4: a moral qualms about or anything like that. So I
- 32:23Speaker 4: don't have any experience on that end, but I yeah,
- 32:25Speaker 4: I understand. You know, some people and in starflee would
- 32:29Speaker 4: have an issue with what they're doing, especially when it's
- 32:31Speaker 4: you know, it's it's one spiece, it's one group that's
- 32:36Speaker 4: having an issue with another group, and a third group
- 32:40Speaker 4: Starfleet is trying to decide exactly how they're supposed to
- 32:42Speaker 4: help out. Sound familiar, right, I mean, you know we're
- 32:46Speaker 4: going through this right now. It's it's something that seems
- 32:50Speaker 4: like we're always going through, you know, right. I mean
- 32:53Speaker 4: I won't mention any names or countries or conflicts, but
- 32:56Speaker 4: everybody knows, yeah, and so it's and everybody's got an opinion,
- 33:00Speaker 4: and not everybody that has an opinion has all the facts.
- 33:04Speaker 4: You know, you got a lot of I'm sure Starfleet,
- 33:06Speaker 4: just like us, has a lot of you know, people
- 33:09Speaker 4: that don't know all the facts, don't know all the information,
- 33:12Speaker 4: aren't in the room with all the high ranking officials
- 33:14Speaker 4: that are getting all the reports, and still have their
- 33:17Speaker 4: own opinions, right, you know. I mean there's also the
- 33:20Speaker 4: opinion of right and wrong, you know, yeah, I think
- 33:23Speaker 4: or even being an ensign, she's like, you know there's
- 33:25Speaker 4: something this, this is wrong. So and that borders on
- 33:29Speaker 4: what I was talking about before. If you're giving an
- 33:31Speaker 4: order that's illegal, you know and and maybe this was
- 33:34Speaker 4: an illegal order. You should question it. You should always
- 33:37Speaker 4: question it at least, you know, if it's morally you
- 33:42Speaker 4: know foggy.
- 33:43Speaker 5: Yeah, but you did. Did you like the episode overall?
- 33:49Speaker 5: Did you not? What were your thoughts?
- 33:50Speaker 4: Thought? It was one of the best episodes of the season. Okay,
- 33:53Speaker 4: I really enjoyed it. Like you said, either you love
- 33:56Speaker 4: it or you hate it. I loved it. I thought
- 33:57Speaker 4: it was great. You know, fine, way they told the
- 34:01Speaker 4: story so right.
- 34:02Speaker 5: Right, I I didn't love it. I didn't hate it, right,
- 34:09Speaker 5: I was like, all right, they tried for something different,
- 34:12Speaker 5: just it didn't get there. To me, part of my
- 34:14Speaker 5: issue was I I've shot documentaries, right, and the way
- 34:19Speaker 5: the documentary portion of this was shot, that's not how
- 34:23Speaker 5: you shoot a documentary. That's that's like behind the scenes
- 34:26Speaker 5: footage your cameras ready, right, it's it's sneaky, it's not
- 34:32Speaker 5: it's not documentary, right, it's not shots, you know, it's
- 34:36Speaker 5: it's like at the beginning, yeah, yeah, it wasn't. It
- 34:40Speaker 5: wasn't how you do a documentary. So like, to me,
- 34:43Speaker 5: I'm like, these people are pros, right, the professional video
- 34:48Speaker 5: and TV people, documentarians, Well, right, But I mean, even
- 34:52Speaker 5: the people who create Star Trek. I'm sure some people
- 34:55Speaker 5: in there have experience, Oh no doubt, right, so like
- 34:59Speaker 5: they know better, but it's a stylistic choice to shoot
- 35:04Speaker 5: it this way, right, and and even the drone shots
- 35:08Speaker 5: were were a little bit like things weren't centered properly,
- 35:12Speaker 5: and so I don't know, like it just it came
- 35:17Speaker 5: off like, look what we're trying to do as supposed to.
- 35:19Speaker 5: Look at what we're doing.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Right, you know. I like the screenshot here. I feel
- 35:25Speaker 4: like the producers are trying to figure out what to
- 35:27Speaker 4: do with the whor's hair.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it's constantly Yeah.
- 35:33Speaker 4: I do like the longer hair, and I do like
- 35:35Speaker 4: it sort of out, you know, of to the sides.
- 35:38Speaker 4: I think that's a cool choice. But you know, so
- 35:44Speaker 4: Pike can play the the Yuka guitar, I don't know
- 35:50Speaker 4: what kind of instrument is, Yeah, like a twelve string ukulele.
- 35:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I'm not familiar with it.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Looked from here, it looks like an eight stringed instrument.
- 36:02Speaker 4: I have no idea what it is. Does anybody know
- 36:05Speaker 4: that anybody's listening can google or you know what this is?
- 36:09Speaker 5: Because we don't know. Yeah, if it's not if it's
- 36:12Speaker 5: not a rock band guitar.
- 36:14Speaker 4: I don't know, so, uh, reminiscent of Encounter at far Point. Yeah,
- 36:22Speaker 4: the with the the the alien that came out of
- 36:25Speaker 4: the planet very much had that encounter Far Point Alien? Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
- 36:32Speaker 4: will R said that, and then Captain keV says, can
- 36:37Speaker 4: we explain also how Ahura can mind meld now? Because
- 36:42Speaker 4: she I think it was more of there. The creature
- 36:46Speaker 4: had a a connection, was could make a connection with someone,
- 36:50Speaker 4: and Ohora, you know, she's not just a communications officer,
- 36:54Speaker 4: She's a language person. She understands languages. And I think
- 36:59Speaker 4: any creature, sure that's seeking out to communicate with somebody
- 37:02Speaker 4: on a starship, if they come across somebody like Ahura,
- 37:05Speaker 4: they're gonna latch on or right right.
- 37:09Speaker 5: So yeah, but but you liked it. I thought it
- 37:16Speaker 5: was okay. Gizmoto did do a review of this center
- 37:21Speaker 5: of this episode, and uh, let me see if I
- 37:25Speaker 5: can find the line they said, what is Starfleet? Certainly
- 37:30Speaker 5: asked the question, but more importantly and asked another, what
- 37:33Speaker 5: if we did an entire episode from the perspective as
- 37:36Speaker 5: someone who was extremely bad at their job?
- 37:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I get it, I get it. And I like
- 37:45Speaker 4: the fact that you, you and I and I think
- 37:48Speaker 4: it plays well on on this show. We don't. We
- 37:52Speaker 4: don't come into an episode both of us all the
- 37:54Speaker 4: time and be like I love that episode or I
- 37:56Speaker 4: hated that episode. You and I obviously have very different
- 38:00Speaker 4: styles and tastes when it comes to TV shows and
- 38:03Speaker 4: movies and stuff, and I think that's fantastic because if
- 38:07Speaker 4: we were both like, oh, yeah, I love this episode,
- 38:10Speaker 4: I love this episode. I hated this episode. I hated
- 38:12Speaker 4: this episode, there'd be nothing to compare and contrast to.
- 38:14Speaker 4: So right, Yeah, I went in not knowing anything about documentaries,
- 38:19Speaker 4: and I understand. I understood what they were trying to do.
- 38:22Speaker 4: It didn't feel like a documentary to me, but I
- 38:25Speaker 4: understood what they were trying you know. The message they
- 38:27Speaker 4: were trying to convey was from a civilian standpoint is
- 38:32Speaker 4: maybe Starfleet is bad, maybe it's not so bad, you know.
- 38:39Speaker 4: And I think that's what they were trying to convey
- 38:41Speaker 4: from the get go. That's why you had the little
- 38:42Speaker 4: gotcha journalism at the beginning, and towards the end it
- 38:47Speaker 4: was Starfleet's good again.
- 38:50Speaker 5: Right right, Yeah, maybe I need to rewatch this episode.
- 38:55Speaker 5: See you know, maybe it'll settle different with me. Maybe
- 38:58Speaker 5: I just couldn't get over the stylistic choices because.
- 39:02Speaker 4: Because I only watched this episode once I saw the
- 39:05Speaker 4: Tale of Shalat or whatever.
- 39:07Speaker 5: I saw that. Well, I mean, we already know. Next
- 39:11Speaker 5: week is the Foorida have Vulcans.
- 39:14Speaker 4: So I'm not looking forward to that one.
- 39:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I know, I know, I'm not looking.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Forward to that one.
- 39:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:20Speaker 4: The reason I'm not looking forward to that one is
- 39:22Speaker 4: because in the trailer, in the preview, they made it
- 39:25Speaker 4: sound like it seems like they're going to transform the crew,
- 39:28Speaker 4: some of the crew into vulcans, physically into vulcans. And
- 39:33Speaker 4: when they are physically transit into vulcans, they start acting
- 39:37Speaker 4: like vulcans, but with their own individual memories. That's in
- 39:42Speaker 4: my mind, that's not the way it works. I hope
- 39:43Speaker 4: they explain that away. But if you were if you
- 39:46Speaker 4: were transformed into a vulcan, you wouldn't automatically have discipline
- 39:51Speaker 4: over your emotions. Quite the opposite, actually, right, if you
- 39:56Speaker 4: were turned into a vulcan, you'd probably become violent and
- 40:01Speaker 4: horny and just oh sorry, what yeah, violent and horny?
- 40:06Speaker 4: That's what a vulcan is without.
- 40:08Speaker 5: Scott, your mom watches you sent her the link earlier.
- 40:15Speaker 4: She see the original series. You knows what Vulcan's going through.
- 40:18Speaker 4: Pondfar is I mean, but that's what vulcans. They have
- 40:21Speaker 4: very they have stronger emotions, like, you know, more violent emotions.
- 40:26Speaker 5: Captain keV is on your side, Scott.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Thank you, Captain keV. I appreciate that.
- 40:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:32Speaker 4: So I don't think if you took an injection that
- 40:34Speaker 4: turned your DNA vulcan it would make you That is
- 40:38Speaker 4: highly illogical, Captain. It wouldn't That's not the way it works. Oh,
- 40:43Speaker 4: you'd become a raw vulcan. Vulcan.
- 40:46Speaker 5: Oh yeah, Captain girlver is just walking around. Are we
- 40:49Speaker 5: gonna know what happened two episodes ago? Yeah, apparently we are.
- 40:52Speaker 4: Also, she was just walking around in the background. Did
- 40:55Speaker 4: she say anything. I don't think she said anything.
- 40:58Speaker 5: No, No, she was just kind of hair.
- 41:00Speaker 4: She was just kind of there, like, okay, we've got
- 41:03Speaker 4: this mutant human hybrid. Yeah, gorn thing walking around.
- 41:08Speaker 5: I like that. Everyone calls her captain girlfriend.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Camping girlfriend. You know, it's incredibly sexist, but it's everybody
- 41:18Speaker 4: knows what you're talking about.
- 41:19Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly exactly.
- 41:21Speaker 4: I liked in this scene right here. I liked Lon's hair.
- 41:24Speaker 4: She's got it down, which doesn't happen very often. Normally
- 41:27Speaker 4: it's in a real tight you know, security officer braid.
- 41:32Speaker 5: But oh no, no, no, no, no, no thanks. If we
- 41:40Speaker 5: thinks you need to rewatch this episode, I need to
- 41:43Speaker 5: rewatch most of the season. I just feel bored by
- 41:45Speaker 5: these episodes. Most of the time. I'm really not EPI yeah.
- 41:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel the same way this season. I found
- 41:54Speaker 4: myself playing with my phone this season a little bit.
- 41:58Speaker 4: I'll watching it, you know. Yeah, it's it has been
- 42:00Speaker 4: a little bit slower, but you know, maybe in a
- 42:04Speaker 4: couple of years we'll look back at season three. Is
- 42:07Speaker 4: you know, it was okay with a few good episodes.
- 42:10Speaker 5: I mean I fell asleep through what is Starfleet?
- 42:15Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, okay, but.
- 42:17Speaker 5: I'd come back from work. I was really tired, and
- 42:19Speaker 5: I didn't realize how tired I was, so that probably
- 42:22Speaker 5: was it.
- 42:23Speaker 4: But whatever, sure, sure, I know, I get it.
- 42:26Speaker 5: I get it.
- 42:28Speaker 4: So yeah, overall, everybody, this has like a six point
- 42:32Speaker 4: something on IMDb, and I think that's about the right
- 42:36Speaker 4: score it should get. I would give this episode an eight.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Ish uh huh.
- 42:41Speaker 4: I really liked it. I would give the last episode
- 42:45Speaker 4: the tale who ate that ate my shalot tail whatever?
- 42:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I would do.
- 42:50Speaker 4: That an eight point one.
- 42:52Speaker 5: So you like that one better than this one slightly?
- 42:57Speaker 4: Maybe, I don't know. They were both good. In my eyes.
- 43:00Speaker 4: I like both of them, so yeah, eight point one.
- 43:03Speaker 4: I felt. You know, a lot of people were comparing
- 43:05Speaker 4: this episode to an episode of Battlestar Galactico that did
- 43:08Speaker 4: a it's been so long since I watched Battlestar that
- 43:10Speaker 4: I don't.
- 43:11Speaker 5: I mean, it's kind of shot in that style, but
- 43:13Speaker 5: not really.
- 43:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I got yeah, and I have no reason to
- 43:17Speaker 4: think this, but I got more data's day vibes in this,
- 43:21Speaker 4: and I think it was because you're you're looking at
- 43:24Speaker 4: day to day. If you take away the emergency, you're
- 43:29Speaker 4: sort of looking at day to day stuff, right right.
- 43:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I could see that, all right, but I look
- 43:38Speaker 5: at the weirds. Yeah no, no, I get you. Well,
- 43:41Speaker 5: let's get into listener feedback. We actually have a voicemail too,
- 43:44Speaker 5: so uh so let's get to listener feedback. Listener feedback,
- 43:53Speaker 5: all right, we got Jazz was waiting already, so we'll
- 43:56Speaker 5: get to him in a minute. First, let's get to
- 43:58Speaker 5: our voicemail. This comes to us from across the pun
- 44:03Speaker 5: I will play it boys.
- 44:06Speaker 9: It's chim Hair from Sunny Shaw and by Sea. It's
- 44:08Speaker 9: been ages, so I apologize, and I'm sending this audio
- 44:15Speaker 9: before the latest episode of starting Strangely Worlds I've done.
- 44:21Speaker 9: I've recording this not long after watching Time through a
- 44:25Speaker 9: Lengths or whatever it's called. And I keep beinging to
- 44:29Speaker 9: send you a voicemail, but it's just going to be
- 44:32Speaker 9: negative because my gosh, I am so fed up at
- 44:37Speaker 9: this rubbish. Now Strangely Worlds, I'm afraid has really gone downhill.
- 44:47Speaker 9: It's committed the worst cronival which is boring, is boring.
- 44:51Speaker 9: The dialogue is rubbish. Sometimes the insubordination is being spoken about.
- 45:02Speaker 9: And it's nice to see a little bit of rank
- 45:08Speaker 9: going on rather than all talking to each other like mates.
- 45:13Speaker 9: But honestly, I don't have much more patience for this
- 45:19Speaker 9: rotten show. And like Dan said, I'm only watching.
- 45:22Speaker 4: It for work.
- 45:25Speaker 9: I listening to you guys and following any sort of
- 45:29Speaker 9: Star Trek podcast. And also, you know, people say if
- 45:32Speaker 9: you don't like it while you watch it, I watch
- 45:34Speaker 9: it so I can have an opinion, and that opinion
- 45:37Speaker 9: is it's dull, it's cross, it's just oh and Star
- 45:43Speaker 9: Feet Academy. You just know that's going to be awful,
- 45:45Speaker 9: don't you. But thank you for your show boys, Thank
- 45:50Speaker 9: you for doing.
- 45:51Speaker 4: What you do.
- 45:52Speaker 9: I still listen to it, even though I don't always
- 45:55Speaker 9: manage to get voicemails in. I'll send a voicemail in
- 45:58Speaker 9: for the next time if I can not be very much.
- 46:01Speaker 5: Take care bye.
- 46:04Speaker 4: That was who was that?
- 46:06Speaker 5: That was Tim?
- 46:08Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, that's fantastic, Tim, Tim Lamb.
- 46:12Speaker 5: I think so, yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, I've.
- 46:15Speaker 4: Actually got some feedback too. I've got a couple of
- 46:18Speaker 4: emails once from Tim Lamb. This is from August seventh,
- 46:23Speaker 4: and I haven't been on the show for a while.
- 46:24Speaker 4: So Dan and Daniel after last week's back to the
- 46:27Speaker 4: Future reference in the episode where they had to get
- 46:29Speaker 4: to point eight to eight light speed, and he saw
- 46:32Speaker 4: a lot through of eighties and nineties movie nods, And yeah,
- 46:35Speaker 4: there were a bunch of movie nods in that one
- 46:37Speaker 4: episode about three weeks ago where they trapping the entity
- 46:42Speaker 4: and using the buffer as a containment unit nod to
- 46:44Speaker 4: Ghostbusters Indiana Jones. The last Crusade with the Leap of
- 46:47Speaker 4: Faith where he had to remember he had to walk
- 46:50Speaker 4: like the guy in the episode. So he said, that's
- 46:53Speaker 4: my comment for show. He says, I'm British, lived in
- 46:55Speaker 4: Australia for ten years. And then he says, you may
- 46:59Speaker 4: see me a Facebook is Tim li otis LAMB in
- 47:02Speaker 4: the past, but he doesn't use Facebook much. He's on
- 47:04Speaker 4: his dog Green on YouTube. He says, keep up the
- 47:07Speaker 4: good work and don't forget to feed Chad.
- 47:10Speaker 5: There you go. Well, just Tim from across the Pond,
- 47:13Speaker 5: welcome back, buddy, So people are happy that Tim's back.
- 47:18Speaker 4: Yeah. I also got an email from Kevin l. He
- 47:21Speaker 4: says he has some issues with his YouTube account, so
- 47:24Speaker 4: Kevin's Treky is now deleted. He's he's now captain keV
- 47:28Speaker 4: Us s and yeah, okay, yeah, yep, there you go. Hello. Yeah.
- 47:34Speaker 4: He says this season of Stranging World has been much
- 47:35Speaker 4: a disappointment. Sadly, we really need some better writing. This
- 47:39Speaker 4: would have been a perfect time to get Daniel to
- 47:40Speaker 4: pitch the new new sky Dance and get in while
- 47:43Speaker 4: the iron is hot. I agree wholeheartedly. Uh, there's perhaps
- 47:48Speaker 4: one day day of light they might get Archer in
- 47:51Speaker 4: on a series. I heard some rumors about that that
- 47:55Speaker 4: doesn't is that more? Is that a pitch or is
- 47:58Speaker 4: that just a reporter asking asking Scott Bachel if you'd
- 48:02Speaker 4: like to go on the show?
- 48:03Speaker 5: No, no, no, it was at STLV they mentioned that, yeah,
- 48:06Speaker 5: they have a pitch for an Archer show. People got excited.
- 48:09Speaker 5: But that's all it is. It's not all right, it's
- 48:11Speaker 5: not like they're developing it. It's just they have an
- 48:13Speaker 5: idea and they'd love to present it.
- 48:15Speaker 4: That's all okay, all right, and Kevin closes with the
- 48:18Speaker 4: thanks for doing your show. It's a ray of light
- 48:20Speaker 4: to me. Watch it live when I can. Well, thank you, Kevin,
- 48:24Speaker 4: thank you very much. If you'd like to, if you'd
- 48:27Speaker 4: like to write, send us an email at leave us
- 48:32Speaker 4: a voicemail at five seven zero six six one zero
- 48:35Speaker 4: zero zero one, just like Tim did. Just send us,
- 48:39Speaker 4: tell us what your thoughts are. There's nobody on the
- 48:41Speaker 4: other end. It'll it'll say something like this YouTube this
- 48:46Speaker 4: what does it say? This Google user isn't available. Just
- 48:49Speaker 4: leave your message and we'll play it on the show.
- 48:52Speaker 4: Bring bring that other one back up. But yeah, you
- 48:54Speaker 4: can also get us on all the social media I
- 48:57Speaker 4: want to interact with us at trek cat TG. Most
- 49:01Speaker 4: of the social media Facebook, YouTube, uh uh whatever, Twitter
- 49:05Speaker 4: became uh TikTok and and Instagram.
- 49:08Speaker 5: Uh.
- 49:09Speaker 4: We got a fantastic Facebook group with a lot of interaction.
- 49:13Speaker 4: You guys are doing fantastic. Keep it up. We love
- 49:16Speaker 4: that kind of stuff.
- 49:16Speaker 5: So yeah, we got a couple of people waiting on
- 49:19Speaker 5: the line too. We've got Chaz Biz and Hipster Spock.
- 49:21Speaker 5: So we'll go to chaz Biz and then we'll go
- 49:24Speaker 5: to Hipster Spock right after.
- 49:25Speaker 4: So let's do it.
- 49:26Speaker 5: Let's go. There's jazz Biz.
- 49:29Speaker 4: What's z as always, that's all that.
- 49:32Speaker 6: Yes, show the merchandise.
- 49:35Speaker 5: Did you think in the last two episodes?
- 49:37Speaker 6: Uh? I like this she lock better, but I hated
- 49:40Speaker 6: the ending in that episode. I couldn't stand that they
- 49:45Speaker 6: were human.
- 49:46Speaker 4: I hated that part. Oh yeah, I was like, get
- 49:49Speaker 4: out of here. They I don't know.
- 49:51Speaker 6: It's like they have like these big, crazy outfits and
- 49:55Speaker 6: they walk really slow and they're human.
- 49:58Speaker 4: Yeah. Ok, yeah, they were like the dudes from Dune. Yes, yeah, yeah,
- 50:06Speaker 4: they're walking really slow and you're like, oh no, they're
- 50:08Speaker 4: like these creepy monsters. In your final there could be
- 50:11Speaker 4: like Meylon or something.
- 50:14Speaker 6: Maybe they were only gone what two hundred years, three
- 50:17Speaker 6: hundred how many years.
- 50:19Speaker 4: Something like that, It was only two hundred years, yeah,
- 50:22Speaker 4: and so that that could be just four or five generations,
- 50:27Speaker 4: maybe six?
- 50:27Speaker 5: Yeah, right, And you know, if.
- 50:29Speaker 6: You're in a rush, understand, maybe let's say, if you
- 50:31Speaker 6: did the timeline of discovery and you find a human
- 50:35Speaker 6: loss civilization, that makes sense? Is there a thousand.
- 50:39Speaker 5: Two hundred years for us? You know, time and space
- 50:43Speaker 5: is relative, right, So if they hate through a wormhole
- 50:46Speaker 5: or something, who knows how long? I know, Yeah, I'm
- 50:50Speaker 5: just ready to give the benefit of the bout.
- 50:51Speaker 4: But you know who, I thought it should have been the.
- 50:53Speaker 5: Pack lits exactly. It should always be the pack lits.
- 50:59Speaker 6: I thought it should be in the back lids.
- 51:00Speaker 4: That'd have been good.
- 51:02Speaker 6: That's because just the way this ship was all put together, and.
- 51:06Speaker 4: Well that's right, Yeah, it was kind of a hodgepodge of.
- 51:09Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a hodgepodge of everything.
- 51:11Speaker 4: And maybe that wasn't the only ship in that colony.
- 51:14Speaker 4: What if that was only half of them? Yeah, and
- 51:18Speaker 4: then later on the other ship, through some sort of
- 51:21Speaker 4: mutant virus, turned into the pack Leads.
- 51:24Speaker 6: That'd be funny.
- 51:26Speaker 5: I you know, I don't. I don't hate that.
- 51:28Speaker 4: No, I don't hate I get idea. Daniel.
- 51:32Speaker 5: That was it.
- 51:33Speaker 4: Let's good, bitch, stay tuned for my next good ideas.
- 51:38Speaker 4: Twenty twenty six.
- 51:40Speaker 6: And in Carol Kane's room, like she has like all
- 51:42Speaker 6: these old phones from the eighties and you're like, are
- 51:48Speaker 6: you a hoarder or what?
- 51:49Speaker 4: You know?
- 51:49Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 51:50Speaker 4: I hope there's a two men in a truck where
- 51:52Speaker 4: where they're at, because that's a lot of crap to move? Yeah?
- 51:55Speaker 6: Yeah, how big are their rooms? I mean Ortega is
- 51:58Speaker 6: working on a motorcycle and then next episode in her room.
- 52:02Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right.
- 52:03Speaker 4: I caught that.
- 52:04Speaker 6: Yeah, like you're working on a motorcycle.
- 52:07Speaker 5: I'm like, what are you gonna do with it? Once
- 52:09Speaker 5: you have the motorcycle done?
- 52:11Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 52:11Speaker 5: Who are just driving around?
- 52:12Speaker 6: Like?
- 52:16Speaker 4: You know what? You know what? They usually use that
- 52:20Speaker 4: as a foreshadowing.
- 52:21Speaker 6: Thing, yeah, plot device.
- 52:24Speaker 4: Yeah, so they've got to explain in episode ten why
- 52:28Speaker 4: they're able to drive a motorcycle around a planet. I'll
- 52:32Speaker 4: uh Kirk from Star Trek JJ and that's why they
- 52:37Speaker 4: started it back here. I hope they It was like
- 52:40Speaker 4: a cafe style racer wasn't it. Yeah, I was, So
- 52:42Speaker 4: I'm okay, I dig it. Yeah, I'm a motorcycle guy,
- 52:46Speaker 4: so yeah, and if all the people on the ship
- 52:48Speaker 4: that would drive, you know, ride a motorcycle, that would
- 52:50Speaker 4: be her.
- 52:51Speaker 5: Right.
- 52:52Speaker 4: As far as the room's being big, you know, I
- 52:54Speaker 4: guess because they're members of the senior staff bridge crew,
- 52:58Speaker 4: you know.
- 52:59Speaker 5: I guess.
- 53:00Speaker 4: But like Star Trek has always done that. If you've
- 53:03Speaker 4: ever talked to anybody who actually served in the Navy,
- 53:06Speaker 4: you know, I've got some friends that served in the Navy,
- 53:08Speaker 4: and you know, even the admiral have rooms that are
- 53:12Speaker 4: half the size of my office.
- 53:13Speaker 6: Yes, yes, when you look out on an aircraft carrier
- 53:17Speaker 6: and you see where they sleep and you're like, no, yeah,
- 53:19Speaker 6: they'd be like bunk beds, there'd be limited room. And
- 53:23Speaker 6: even like I went on that cruise ship and we
- 53:26Speaker 6: got through the whole thing, Yeah, your rooms are teeny tiny, especially.
- 53:30Speaker 5: The crew closets.
- 53:31Speaker 6: Yes, their closets with the shower and you're lucky some
- 53:35Speaker 6: of them. I had a communal shower, right, So I
- 53:38Speaker 6: understand like your high ranking officers having their own room.
- 53:41Speaker 4: Yeah, the captain of the USS Enterprise probably has his
- 53:45Speaker 4: own room. But I doubt he's got his own shower.
- 53:48Speaker 4: He might have his own bathroom, but I I.
- 53:50Speaker 6: Mean he has like a whole suite with the kitchen
- 53:52Speaker 6: and everything, right, yeah, and then it's a giant kitchen.
- 53:56Speaker 4: It's like a huge kitchen. Yeah, I mean it looks
- 54:01Speaker 4: it looks the whole thing. I was trying to guestimate this,
- 54:03Speaker 4: but like the captain's quarters looks like it could be
- 54:07Speaker 4: in the neighborhood of like twelve hundred feet square feet. Yeah,
- 54:11Speaker 4: twelve yeah, which which is ridiculous.
- 54:16Speaker 6: Why captain's girlfriends like you know, tagging along.
- 54:19Speaker 4: Right right, right, Yeah, She's probably gonna be, you know,
- 54:22Speaker 4: captain of an old birth class, and she's gonna have
- 54:24Speaker 4: a little tiny bedroom so she wants to hang out
- 54:27Speaker 4: in this heavy cruiser.
- 54:28Speaker 6: That would have been funny to see the Farraguts rooms
- 54:31Speaker 6: and see like Kirks like this teeny tiny closet.
- 54:35Speaker 5: I think that's what I said. Like by lower decks
- 54:38Speaker 5: was the bunk beds, Like, yeah.
- 54:41Speaker 6: Lower Decks was the closest thing to Star Trek. That
- 54:45Speaker 6: got things right then, Ye, the modern.
- 54:48Speaker 5: The cartoon and a lot of people like lower Decks.
- 54:54Speaker 6: Yeah, this other one, it's just kind of Well.
- 54:56Speaker 4: They mentioned in Lower Decks the Next Generation episode Lower
- 54:59Speaker 4: Decks that ensigns share a room with other ensigns.
- 55:02Speaker 5: Right, yeah, right, yeah, I bet it would enterprise enterprise
- 55:10Speaker 5: people shared rooms.
- 55:12Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, all right, Well, anything.
- 55:15Speaker 5: Else you want to bring up before we get to
- 55:17Speaker 5: the episode.
- 55:18Speaker 6: The documentary one I didn't like I'm with you, Daniel.
- 55:21Speaker 6: I didn't like the way it was shot. Yeah, took
- 55:23Speaker 6: me out of it. I mean, I understand if you
- 55:26Speaker 6: shot it in documentary style, it makes sense, but all
- 55:29Speaker 6: the camera angles are just really annoying me. Yeah, I
- 55:33Speaker 6: don't hear those shots on top of the shot, you.
- 55:36Speaker 4: Know, an interview news story style.
- 55:40Speaker 6: Then yeah, it was gotcha, it got yeah, yeah, he's
- 55:43Speaker 6: and it's pretty much if you watch these modern documentaries,
- 55:46Speaker 6: they do.
- 55:46Speaker 4: That, Like if you saw a story on twenty twenty,
- 55:48Speaker 4: it was shot more like that than And speaking of documentaries,
- 55:53Speaker 4: keep an eye out. The Voyage documentary is coming out
- 55:58Speaker 4: to the next theaters.
- 56:01Speaker 6: I don't think so, yeah, man, but I saw the.
- 56:08Speaker 4: So that was a good doc.
- 56:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I was a good doc.
- 56:13Speaker 5: Okay, Well, thanks Chaz biz, thanks for being all.
- 56:16Speaker 6: Right, Thank you guys.
- 56:17Speaker 5: All right, take care, all right, we got Hipster's back
- 56:20Speaker 5: on the line, so let's bring him on there he is, Asock.
- 56:24Speaker 5: Are you doing, Spock?
- 56:27Speaker 7: Hello, Hello, I haven't been on for a long time.
- 56:30Speaker 5: Can I know?
- 56:31Speaker 4: Yeah, we can hear you.
- 56:33Speaker 5: Okay.
- 56:34Speaker 7: Yeah. With this thing with the scavengers that being humans
- 56:40Speaker 7: not not really feeling it, I agree with Chaz biz
- 56:47Speaker 7: and and you guys, Yeah, that was the wrong way
- 56:49Speaker 7: to go. At least make it like a four C
- 56:52Speaker 7: M two or something like that, or something more abstract.
- 56:58Speaker 5: Yes, you say, like, oh, okay, okay, something like that.
- 57:05Speaker 5: You know, a person is very specific.
- 57:08Speaker 4: I agree, I agree, I agree, Hypsy Spock. Yeah, the specie. Yeah,
- 57:13Speaker 4: going with a human. I know they were trying to
- 57:15Speaker 4: go with shock value and surprise. And like I said,
- 57:18Speaker 4: I I'm usually pretty dumb when I watch TV and
- 57:20Speaker 4: I can't figure out. My wife is so much better.
- 57:22Speaker 4: She can catch things way before I do. But this
- 57:25Speaker 4: time I'm like, oh, they're human. I looked at my wife.
- 57:28Speaker 4: I'm like, they're human. And when they removed that helmet,
- 57:30Speaker 4: I was so excited because I'm hardly ever right about
- 57:33Speaker 4: that kind of stuff.
- 57:34Speaker 5: Like, look, I got it right there you go, and
- 57:38Speaker 5: I'm here.
- 57:39Speaker 4: Everybody else is.
- 57:41Speaker 7: Yeah, and if it was like a robot or something,
- 57:45Speaker 7: that would be ten times better.
- 57:47Speaker 4: What do you think I like that idea too.
- 57:50Speaker 5: Yeah, robot would be fine.
- 57:52Speaker 4: It could have been anything. I mean, the reveal would
- 57:55Speaker 4: have had to have been either familiar, you know, it
- 57:58Speaker 4: had to have been a pack lad or or a
- 58:01Speaker 4: may Line or something or something out of this world shocking.
- 58:05Speaker 7: Robot pack led would be like totally on brand, right
- 58:12Speaker 7: mm hmm. Okay. The the thing is, I haven't been
- 58:16Speaker 7: watching these episodes. The only way that I'm keeping up
- 58:20Speaker 7: without any of this is through you guys. Okay, So yeah,
- 58:26Speaker 7: I'm I'm watching this season vicariously through trek cast. So
- 58:34Speaker 7: so I was very disappointed when there wasn't a recording
- 58:39Speaker 7: last week.
- 58:41Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, sorry about that.
- 58:45Speaker 7: It's okay, that's okay. You know, you guys have to
- 58:47Speaker 7: do what you need to do. Okay. With the what
- 58:50Speaker 7: what is Starfleet documentary? It was shot documentary style. Was
- 58:57Speaker 7: it like in the style of like parts and rec
- 59:00Speaker 7: or the office or it was like another way?
- 59:05Speaker 5: Oh, it wasn't quite like that. It was it was
- 59:09Speaker 5: a lot of like like the camera is looking around
- 59:13Speaker 5: a corner and and people are talking in another room,
- 59:17Speaker 5: and so you're kind of like a like a spy
- 59:20Speaker 5: on the on the on the wall, like a fly
- 59:22Speaker 5: on the wall. Like it wasn't shot exactly, like I
- 59:26Speaker 5: know what you mean by parking wreck where they sit
- 59:28Speaker 5: them down and like they respond to whatever just happened
- 59:31Speaker 5: in the scene. It's not shot like that, right.
- 59:35Speaker 4: And the rest of the footage came from security cameras
- 59:37Speaker 4: throughout the ship.
- 59:38Speaker 5: Right or bathroom.
- 59:42Speaker 7: Totally creepy, right, right.
- 59:45Speaker 4: It was, Oh yeah, they it definitely had a creep
- 59:47Speaker 4: vibe to it.
- 59:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 59:49Speaker 7: Now, wouldn't it be better if they shot it in
- 59:51Speaker 7: the in the style of our Parts and Wreck?
- 59:56Speaker 5: Yeah, that's documentary.
- 59:59Speaker 4: And I think also if it had if it had
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: more of a I mentioned Data's Day earlier, if that
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: had been shot as a document as a style, a
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: Parks and rec style would have been more appropriate for
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: that one, because it was for most of that episode
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: it was more lighthearted, right, this one there wasn't a
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: lot of lighthearted. There was a couple of lighthearted moments,
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: but this one was more serious. So I think the
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: you know, if they were going to choose, I don't know,
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: would I choose a bad style versus an inappropriate style,
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: you know, the style they chose versus Parks and Rec
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: for this episode, Daniel I would have done Parks and
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: Rec really really Yeah so you hated that style that much?
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: Yeah? Yeah, it was off putting.
- 1:00:44Speaker 7: I mean you know they did a whole musical episode, right,
- 1:00:47Speaker 7: so you know they so why not why not a
- 1:00:52Speaker 7: Parks and Rec type of episode.
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: Hey, we're going to do a Vulcan episode next week,
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: so you're ready for that, then an episode next year, So.
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: Just sit down, buckle it and enjoy the ride, folks.
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: Yeah, little comment on this Pike room thing. It looks
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: massive when when you compare it to like Piccard's room
- 1:01:16Speaker 7: in the D.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: I was thinking the same thing. Yeah, let's go cooked.
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: Yeah, and you know, the enterprise is a lot smaller
- 1:01:26Speaker 7: than the D very much.
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's not the matter. It's not the size
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: that matters.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: You're right, the Card did have the big D.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: That's right.
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: One last thing, I just saw the trailer to Academy.
- 1:01:46Speaker 7: Uh I'm late at the party, I know, but oh
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: my god, I that was I hope it gets canceled before.
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: I hope it it gets the bat girl treatment.
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, because it was like.
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: I mean it made have you been hanging out with Dan?
- 1:02:08Speaker 7: I mean it made disco look coherent?
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: Oh wow, yeah.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: Yeah, there's a lot of people who want that. But
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: we'll see what happens. I mean, you know, sky Dans
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: has got two billion to get rid of.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: So there's got to be a reason why they're not
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: listening to everybody and making legacy. There's there. There must
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: be a hiccup, there must.
- 1:02:32Speaker 7: Be oh my god, legacy all the way. I'm all
- 1:02:35Speaker 7: in on that.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: Have you met a Star Trek fan, heard of a
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: Star Trek fan on any chat forum, social media whatever.
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: At comic con. I was just at a comic con
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: last month. That was the chatter that hasn't said, I'd
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: rather have legacy than academy. Oh.
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: If you look at the official Star Trek YouTube where
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: they have the Academy trailer, look at the commons, like
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: eighty percent of the comments are we would rather have
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: legacy please?
- 1:03:06Speaker 7: Well yeah, I mean this is like cracker barrel.
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: Yeah yeah. Well. What's even funny about the the YouTube
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: comments on that trailer is people saying that in the comments, yeah,
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: they're deleting my comments. I wanted legacy and even that
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: curated is like way more people want legacy.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so what there's got to be a reason,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: because you know what this is the whole you know,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: they're they're they're operating the way that uh that cracker
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: barrel is operating.
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: You know, it will Legacy movie in the works. Perhaps
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: I doubt it. I doubt it.
- 1:03:53Speaker 10: Legacy movie would be at least something, It would be something,
- 1:03:57Speaker 10: But I don't I don't think it's that like the
- 1:04:01Speaker 10: only thing I can think of one it's like an
- 1:04:03Speaker 10: ego thing where it wasn't Kurtzman's like idea for legacies.
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: So but even that, like that doesn't resonate with me
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: because like he's like the top end producer, right, really
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: all he cares about is give me good ideas so
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: I can get it too to the audience. Right, That's
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: all that should matter at that level. It's not like
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: that it has to be my idea. But but who knows,
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: We don't know, Like maybe they don't like Terry metallis
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: behind the scenes, they themselves and so the right, but
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: they don't want to work with him. Maybe I don't know.
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: You know a lot of people have and it's not
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: just me saying this. But a lot of people have said,
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: just give the reins over to Terry Metallis, Jonathan Fright.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: You know, there's there's been some good producers, writers, you know,
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: some of these Look at some of the episodes that
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: did really well. I don't know how Hollywood works. Look
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: at some of these episodes that did really really well.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: Look at who the writers are and the and the
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: producers and the directors, and you know, picking shoes from them.
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: I mean, and I know that a director, you know,
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: Jonathan Fraakes is not the the messiah of Star Trek.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: I get that he's there's a couple of episodes this
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: season that we're bad that he directed, but you know, overall,
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: most people are happy with his work, Terry Metallis's work.
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: What am I missing here? Where they keep isn't an
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: ego thing?
- 1:05:24Speaker 7: Is it?
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: I don't know, But they need to get rid of Kurtzman,
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: and I don't understand why they haven't yet, because he's
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: producing craft that nobody Star Trek fans don't want.
- 1:05:33Speaker 7: If you look at the actors that they hired for
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: that show, why why do we why do they always
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: look that way? You know, like what waits?
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: I'm not sure what you mean by that?
- 1:05:47Speaker 7: It's like chis who've got participation trophies.
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: Okay, what what do you think about the female jim
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: Hidar for Star Trek A cat me I I posted.
- 1:06:03Speaker 7: I just posted that on the Facebook group, and I
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: mean I wasn't feeling it because it doesn't make sense.
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: Right after the Dominion war the Founder's loss, and they
- 1:06:17Speaker 7: were breeding gem Hoadars to be like their warrior class
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: and stuff. And I'm just thinking, Okay, yeah, if after
- 1:06:27Speaker 7: they lost, I'm sure there's a line on the treaty
- 1:06:30Speaker 7: or something saying that you will no longer be breeding
- 1:06:33Speaker 7: gem Hadars because you know, they're they're a nuisance to
- 1:06:38Speaker 7: the to the galaxy and what whatnot?
- 1:06:41Speaker 11: Right?
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: And well, the Dominion put in basically a licening contingency
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: like Jurassic Park did with the gem Hadar. And and
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: that's the keptu cell White. You know, if the Dominion
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: is no longer producing k are White, you think the
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: logical conclusion would be the gem Dar would simply just
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: become extinct.
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: Well, I did have that theory. Remember the theory that
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: I gave was that female jem Hinar did exist even
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: back then. It's that because they were in more, they
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: would destroy the embryos because they just wanted male soldiers.
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: And if jem Hdar could reproduce outside of the biological
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: like facilities that they had, then that's less control that
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: the founders would have over them.
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: So maybe those those Delta quadrants or those Gama quadrant
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: species just reverted back to what they were. But yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: you're saying the Gemadar weren't created in a lab. They
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: were modified in a lab, right the way, So the
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: vorta became little ape like creatures that swung from trees
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: in the forest, that's right, that's right.
- 1:07:44Speaker 7: And then to have they cling on like mate with
- 1:07:47Speaker 7: that thing. I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: I wouldn't want to be in that room.
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: It's nine hundred years in the future, right from when
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: we last saw them, So yeah, you know, like yeah,
- 1:07:59Speaker 5: and and.
- 1:07:59Speaker 7: The whole thing with the e m H. I have
- 1:08:02Speaker 7: a issue with the em H because I mean, you know,
- 1:08:05Speaker 7: are you are you guys still playing with the blackberries?
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: Right, yeah, I get it, I get it. Yeah, it's
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: really really old technology. And and maybe they you know,
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: I don't know, sure, I don't I want to see
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: what you're gonna do.
- 1:08:25Speaker 7: Sure, you like driving around the Mustang, but still, I mean,
- 1:08:28Speaker 7: it's it just a hobby. It's not something that you're
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: going to use like on a day, day to day basis.
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: Right, It's like using a Teddy rucksman, I mean right, So.
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: Here's the counter, though, we still use sailboats, and sailboats
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: are like a thousand years old.
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and maybe it's more about the personality. I mean,
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: you know, I would I would have a conversation with
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: you know, I don't know, Jesus or King tut or
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: you know, just because they're old or lived you know,
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: thousands of years ago, wouldn't make them any less relevant.
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: Hey, man, I would turn on the jail.
- 1:09:04Speaker 7: H m hmm, right right, yeah, Well his bedside manner
- 1:09:12Speaker 7: must have improved dramatically into in the like the eight
- 1:09:17Speaker 7: hundred years that since.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: A voyager, Yeah, it must have.
- 1:09:23Speaker 7: It must have to have them keep him around.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: And then one of the other characters, one of the
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: new characters, is also a hologram of some sorts. Mm hmm.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: So well.
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: Tim just joined the chat.
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: What's up, Tim?
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: Hm hmmm, nice? We're getting international all right?
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: Cool?
- 1:09:50Speaker 7: Keep up the work, and uh yeah, I'm like I said,
- 1:09:54Speaker 7: I'm you guys are the only one that's keeping me
- 1:09:57Speaker 7: connected to uh season three, so I'm counting on you guys.
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: Oh I'm sorry.
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: Well hey, it's why we're here, trying to keep everybody connected,
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: and we're glad you listened for that reason.
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: So yeah, all right, well thanks mister.
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: We appreciate take care. Yeah, Tim, what what time is
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: it over there on the other side of the planet.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: I think he said he's from England, but he has
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: lived in Australia for the last ten years.
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: Oh yeah, the show is really not improving, is it.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: No, man, I thought these last two episodes were great.
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: I really liked them. I give them both eight I
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: like the Shoe.
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: A lot better. But you know, okay, I think, oh, well.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: It's uh that's sixteen eleven for those non military types.
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: That's that's four o'clock in the afternoon.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: Oh that's right. He just Tim just reminded me of
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: that time there's a wrestling paper you in like two
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: hours because it's out of England, it's oh okay at
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: the arena. So yeah, yeah, so anyway, it's cool. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: I'm not gonna watch it. I all have time, but okay,
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: I gotta go see my sister's musical tonight.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: So, like I said, it's been it's good being back,
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: I said before the show. I'm ready to go for
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: the rest of the year. All right. For next weekend,
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: I got one last camping trip plan, so I will
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: not be here.
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: So okay, all right, Well we'll see what happens. Okay,
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: Dan can be back.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: Hit us up on all the socials and send us
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: emails and voicemails.
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: Gain. That's right, all right, Well, thanks for watching, guys,
