  thing
• 1:01
  we
• 1:01
  didn't

  talk

  about
• 1:01
  here
• 1:02
  that
• 1:02
  I
• 1:02

  over
• 1:03
  that
• 1:03
  I
• 1:03
  shouldn't
• 1:04
  have
• 1:04
  is
• 1:05
  what's
• 1:05
  the
• 1:05
  cost
• 1:05
  recouped?
• 1:06
  And
• 1:06
  this
• 1:06
  is
• 1:06
  a
• 1:07
  big
• 1:07
  number
• 1:07
  here.
• 1:07
  And
• 1:07
  I
• 1:07
  just
• 1:08
  was,
• 1:08
  well,
• 1:09
  we
• 1:09
  were
• 1:09
  a
• 1:09
  break.
• 1:09
  I
• 1:09
  was
• 1:10
  going,
• 1:10
  wait
• 1:10
  a
• 1:10
  minute.
• 1:11
  We
• 1:11
  didn't
• 1:11
  even
• 1:12
  talk
• 1:12
  about
• 1:12
  what
• 1:12
  the

  was

  you're

• 2:03
  for
• 2:03
  the
• 2:03
  big
• 2:04
  game
• 2:04
  coming
• 2:04
  up.
• 2:05
  Maybe
• 2:05
  you're
• 2:06
  a
• 2:06
  Chiefs
• 2:06
  fan.
• 2:07
  Well,
• 2:08
  maybe
• 2:08
  you're
• 2:09
  an
• 2:09
  Eagles
• 2:09
  fan
• 2:09
  either
• 2:10
  way
• 2:10
  or
• 2:11
  you're
• 2:11
  just
• 2:11
  like
• 2:11
  me,
• 2:12
  fan
• 2:12
  of
• 2:12
  neither
• 2:13
  one.
• 2:13
  But
• 2:14
  I'm
• 2:14
  gonna
• 2:14
  watch
• 2:14
  the
• 2:14
  game
• 2:14
  anyway
• 2:15
  because
• 2:15
  at
• 2:15
  least
• 2:15
  I
• 2:15
  can
• 2:15
  watch
• 2:16
  some
• 2:16
  cool
• 2:16
  commercials
• 2:17
  and
• 2:17
  it's
• 2:17
  a
• 2:17
  good
• 2:17
  reason
• 2:18
  to
• 2:18
  barbecue.
• 2:18
  Check
• 2:19
  them
• 2:19
  out
• 2:19
  at
• 2:19
  Monument
• 2:19
  Grills.
• 2:22
  Well,
• 2:22
  we've
• 2:23
  got
• 2:23
  some
• 2:23
  background
• 2:23
  noise
• 2:24
  out
• 2:24
  here.
• 2:24
  Just
• 2:25
  we're
• 2:25
  gonna
• 2:25
  have
• 2:25
  to
• 2:25
  put
• 2:25
  up
• 2:26
  with
• 2:26
  it
• 2:26
  here
• 2:26
  this
• 2:26
  week.
• 2:27
  I
• 2:27
  have
• 2:27
  a
• 2:27
  house
• 2:28
  four
• 2:29
  or
• 2:29
  five
• 2:29
  doors
• 2:30
  down,
• 2:30
  four
• 2:30
  doors
• 2:30
  down
• 2:31
  for
• 2:31
  me
• 2:31
  that
• 2:32
  is
• 2:32
  getting
• 2:32
  demolished.
• 2:33
  So
• 2:33
  even
• 2:34
  the
• 2:34
  best
• 2:34
  soundproofing
• 2:35
  sometimes
• 2:36
  doesn't
• 2:37
  fix
• 2:37
  that.
• 2:37
  So
• 2:37
  we
• 2:37
  got
• 2:38
  a
• 2:38
  little
• 2:38
  bit
• 2:38
  of
• 2:38
  ambiance
• 2:39
  in
• 2:39
  the
• 2:39
  background
• 2:40
  and
• 2:41
  that's
• 2:41
  something
• 2:41
  that
• 2:41
  we're
• 2:42
  not
• 2:42
  gonna
• 2:42
  talk
• 2:42
  really
• 2:42
  too
• 2:43
  much
• 2:43
  about
• 2:43
  today.
• 2:43
  But
• 2:44
  here's
• 2:44
  what
• 2:45
  interesting
• 2:45
  this
• 2:45
  place
• 2:46
  bought
• 2:46
  for
• 2:46
  I
• 2:46
  think
• 2:47
  $1.2
• 2:48
  million
• 2:49
  on
• 2:49
  the
• 2:49
  lake
• 2:50
  and
• 2:50
  they're
• 2:50
  tearing
• 2:51
  it
• 2:51
  down.
• 2:51
  And
• 2:52
  I'm
• 2:52
  not
• 2:53
  one
• 2:53
  to
• 2:53
  say
• 2:54
  save
• 2:54
  this
• 2:55
  house.
• 2:55
  It
• 2:55
  was
• 2:55
  a
• 2:56
  really
• 2:56
  goofy,
• 2:57
  poorly
• 2:58
  done,
• 2:58
  late
• 2:58
  mid
• 2:59
  century
• 2:59
  house
• 2:59
  that
• 3:00
  was
• 3:01
  kind
• 3:01
  of
• 3:01
  an
• 3:01
  ugly
• 3:01
  duckling.
• 3:02
  And
• 3:02
  I
• 3:02
  get
• 3:03
  why
• 3:03
  they
• 3:03
  did
• 3:03
  it.
• 3:04
  It
• 3:04
  was
• 3:04
  interesting
• 3:04
  though,
• 3:04
  they
• 3:05
  had
• 3:05
  about
• 3:05
  a
• 3:05
  month
• 3:05
  of
• 3:05
  asbestos
• 3:06
  to
• 3:06
  take
• 3:06
  out
• 3:06
  of
• 3:06
  that
• 3:06
  thing
• 3:07
  and
• 3:07
  now
• 3:07
  they're
• 3:08
  tearing
• 3:08
  it
• 3:08
  down
• 3:08
  down
• 3:08
  there.
• 3:09
  Of
• 3:09
  course
• 3:09
  there'll
• 3:09
  be
• 3:09
  A
• 3:09
  new
• 3:09
  house
• 3:09
  going
• 3:10
  down
• 3:10
  there,
• 3:10
  but
• 3:11
  interesting
• 3:12
  time
• 3:12
  in
• 3:12
  the
• 3:12
  neighborhood
• 3:13
  with
• 3:13
  another
• 3:13
  sign
• 3:14
  going
• 3:14
  up.
• 3:14
  I
• 3:14
  just
• 3:14
  saw
• 3:14
  the
• 3:15
  people
• 3:15
  moving
• 3:15
  out
• 3:16
  three
• 3:16
  doors
• 3:16
  down,
• 3:17
  up
• 3:17
  the
• 3:17
  other
• 3:18
  cross
• 3:18
  street
• 3:18
  from
• 3:19
  my
• 3:19
  house
• 3:19
  and
• 3:20
  builders
• 3:20
  sign
• 3:21
  is
• 3:21
  already
• 3:21
  in
• 3:21
  the
• 3:21
  front
• 3:22
  yard.
• 3:22
  So
• 3:23
  that
• 3:23
  one's
• 3:23
  going
• 3:23
  to
• 3:23
  be
• 3:23
  coming
• 3:24
  down
• 3:24
  as
• 3:24
  well.
• 3:25
  So
• 3:25
  a
• 3:25
  lot
• 3:25
  of
• 3:25
  noise
• 3:26
  in
• 3:26
  the
• 3:26
  neighborhood
• 3:26
  right
• 3:27
  now.
• 3:27
  But
• 3:27
  today
• 3:27
  we're
• 3:28
  going
• 3:28
  to
• 3:28
  be
• 3:28
  talking
• 3:28
  about
• 3:29
  what's
• 3:30
  remodeling
• 3:31
  cost,
• 3:31
  what's
• 3:32
  our
• 3:32
  cost?
• 3:33
  And
• 3:33
  we're
• 3:33
  going
• 3:33
  to
• 3:33
  do
• 3:33
  kind
• 3:33
  of
• 3:34
  an
• 3:34
  east
• 3:34
  coast
• 3:35
  versus
• 3:35
  west
• 3:35
  coast.
• 3:36
  Since
• 3:36
  I'm
• 3:37
  in
• 3:37
  Portland,
• 3:37
  Oregon
• 3:38
  region,
• 3:38
  we're
• 3:38
  going
• 3:38
  to
• 3:38
  do
• 3:39
  that
• 3:39
  versus,
• 3:39
  let's
• 3:40
  say
• 3:40
  New
• 3:40
  York.
• 3:41
  So
• 3:41
  we're
• 3:42
  going
• 3:42
  to
• 3:42
  do
• 3:42
  kind
• 3:42
  of
• 3:42
  east
• 3:43
  versus
• 3:43
  West.
• 3:44
  And
• 3:44
  what
• 3:44
  are
• 3:45
  the
• 3:45
  averages
• 3:45
  between
• 3:46
  these?
• 3:46
  And
• 3:46
  of
• 3:46
  course,
• 3:47
  what's
• 3:48
  the
• 3:48
  return
• 3:48
  on
• 3:49
  investment?
• 3:50
  What
• 3:50
  is
• 3:50
  your
• 3:51
  cost
• 3:51
  recouped
• 3:52
  out
• 3:52
  of
• 3:52
  that
• 3:53
  remodel?
• 3:54
  And
• 3:54
  some
• 3:54
  of
• 3:54
  these
• 3:54
  things
• 3:55
  are
• 3:55
  going
• 3:55
  to
• 3:55
  defy
• 3:56
  what
• 3:57
  common
• 3:57
  judgment
• 3:58
  is.
• 3:59
  And
• 3:59
  it's
• 3:59
  interesting.
• 4:00
  So
• 4:01
  this
• 4:01
  hour
• 4:01
  we're
• 4:01
  going
• 4:01
  to
• 4:02
  be
• 4:02
  talking
• 4:02
  about
• 4:02
  interior
• 4:03
  remodeling.
• 4:04
  And
• 4:05
  this
• 4:05
  is
• 4:05
  a
• 4:05
  big
• 4:05
  one
• 4:05
  here
• 4:06
  because
• 4:06
  I
• 4:06
  tell
• 4:06
  you
• 4:06
  what,
• 4:07
  it's
• 4:07
  a
• 4:08
  big
• 4:08
  project
• 4:08
  to
• 4:08
  take
• 4:08
  on
• 4:09
  a
• 4:09
  remodeling
• 4:09
  project
• 4:10
  especially
• 4:10
  let's
• 4:10
  start
• 4:10
  out
• 4:11
  with
• 4:11
  a
• 4:11
  kitchen,
• 4:11
  because
• 4:11
  that's
• 4:12
  a
• 4:12
  hot
• 4:12
  one.
• 4:13
  And
• 4:13
  there's
• 4:13
  multiple
• 4:14
  ways
• 4:14
  of
• 4:14
  doing
• 4:15
  kitchens
• 4:15
  out
• 4:15
  there.
• 4:16
  There's
• 4:16
  different
• 4:16
  stages.
• 4:17
  You
• 4:17
  know,
• 4:17
  you're
• 4:17
  going
• 4:17
  to
• 4:17
  do
• 4:18
  just
• 4:18
  kind
• 4:18
  of
• 4:18
  the,
• 4:19
  what
• 4:19
  I
• 4:19
  call
• 4:19
  the
• 4:19
  fluff
• 4:20
  and
• 4:20
  buff,
• 4:21
  or
• 4:21
  you're
• 4:21
  going
• 4:21
  to
• 4:21
  do
• 4:21
  a
• 4:21
  nice
• 4:22
  kitchen
• 4:22
  model,
• 4:23
  or
• 4:23
  you're
• 4:23
  going
• 4:23
  to
• 4:23
  do
• 4:24
  the
• 4:24
  upscale,
• 4:26
  you
• 4:26
  know,
• 4:26
  high
• 4:26
  end,
• 4:27
  you
• 4:28
  know,
• 4:28
  sub
• 4:28
  zero
• 4:29
  mila
• 4:30
  high
• 4:30
  end
• 4:30
  appliances,
• 4:31
  stone
• 4:31
  countertops,
• 4:32
  that
• 4:32
  kind
• 4:32
  of
• 4:33
  thing.
• 4:33
  So
• 4:34
  let's
• 4:34
  talk
• 4:34
  about
• 4:34
  what
• 4:34
  those
• 4:35
  costs
• 4:35
  are
• 4:35
  on
• 4:36
  average.
• 4:37
  And
• 4:37
  these
• 4:37
  numbers
• 4:38
  I
• 4:38
  get
• 4:38
  from
• 4:39
  remodeling
• 4:39
  magazine's
• 4:40
  Cost
• 4:40
  vs.
• 4:41
  Value
• 4:41
  report,
• 4:42
  which
• 4:43
  to
• 4:43
  me
• 4:43
  has
• 4:43
  been
• 4:44
  over
• 4:44
  the,
• 4:44
  geez,
• 4:45
  30
• 4:45
  years
• 4:45
  in
• 4:45
  the
• 4:45
  industry
• 4:46
  for
• 4:46
  me
• 4:46
  has
• 4:46
  been
• 4:47
  one
• 4:47
  of
• 4:47
  the
• 4:47
  most
• 4:48
  realistic
• 4:49
  as
• 4:49
  far
• 4:50
  as
• 4:50
  expectations.
• 4:51
  Now
• 4:51
  this
• 4:51
  is
• 4:51
  what
• 4:51
  you
• 4:52
  would
• 4:52
  do
• 4:52
  if
• 4:52
  you
• 4:52
  were
• 4:52
  gonna
• 4:53
  call
• 4:53
  and
• 4:54
  hire
• 4:54
  a
• 4:54
  contractor
• 4:55
  to
• 4:55
  come
• 4:55
  do
• 4:55
  the
• 4:55
  project.
• 4:56
  These
• 4:56
  are
• 4:57
  not
• 4:57
  DIY
• 4:58
  numbers,
• 4:58
  but
• 4:59
  many
• 4:59
  times
• 4:59
  on
• 4:59
  these
• 5:00
  things
• 5:00
  that
• 5:00
  are
• 5:00
  DIY,
• 5:01
  you
• 5:01
  can
• 5:02
  save,
• 5:02
  you
• 5:02
  know,
• 5:03
  30,
• 5:03
  40,
• 5:04
  50%
• 5:05
  by
• 5:05
  doing
• 5:05
  it
• 5:05
  yourself
• 5:06
  off
• 5:06
  of
• 5:06
  these
• 5:07
  numbers.
• 5:07
  So
• 5:07
  it's
• 5:07
  just
• 5:07
  kind
• 5:08
  of
• 5:08
  a
• 5:08
  good
• 5:08
  idea.
• 5:09
  And
• 5:10
  this
• 5:10
  is
• 5:10
  not
• 5:10
  really
• 5:10
  accounting
• 5:11
  into
• 5:11
  too
• 5:11
  much
• 5:12
  where
• 5:12
  the
• 5:12
  numbers
• 5:12
  are
• 5:12
  to
• 5:12
  go
• 5:13
  this
• 5:13
  year
• 5:13
  with
• 5:13
  a
• 5:13
  fleet
• 5:14
  inflation.
• 5:15
  So
• 5:15
  these
• 5:15
  numbers
• 5:16
  could
• 5:16
  be,
• 5:16
  you
• 5:16
  know,
• 5:16
  by
• 5:16
  the
• 5:17
  time
• 5:17
  they
• 5:17
  get
• 5:17
  the
• 5:17
  report
• 5:17
  together,
• 5:18
  put
• 5:18
  it
• 5:18
  out,
• 5:19
  it's
• 5:19
  kind
• 5:19
  of
• 5:19
  where
• 5:19
  the
• 5:19
  numbers
• 5:20
  were
• 5:21
  like
• 5:21
  summer
• 5:21
  of
• 5:21
  last
• 5:22
  year
• 5:22
  versus
• 5:23
  summer
• 5:23
  of
• 5:23
  this
• 5:23
  year.
• 5:24
  So
• 5:24
  just
• 5:24
  to
• 5:24
  keep
• 5:24
  that
• 5:25
  in
• 5:25
  mind.
• 5:26
  So
• 5:26
  let's
• 5:26
  talk.
• 5:27
  Start
• 5:27
  out
• 5:27
  here
• 5:27
  first
• 5:28
  by
• 5:28
  talking
• 5:28
  about
• 5:29
  a
• 5:29
  mid
• 5:30
  range
• 5:30
  miner
• 5:31
  kitchen
• 5:31
  model.
• 5:32
  So
• 5:32
  let's
• 5:32
  talk
• 5:32
  about
• 5:32
  the
• 5:33
  rules
• 5:33
  because
• 5:34
  the
• 5:34
  rules
• 5:35
  are
• 5:35
  really
• 5:35
  what's
• 5:36
  important
• 5:36
  here
• 5:37
  that
• 5:37
  go
• 5:37
  with
• 5:37
  the
• 5:37
  numbers.
• 5:38
  Because
• 5:38
  I
• 5:38
  can
• 5:38
  throw
• 5:38
  a
• 5:39
  number
• 5:39
  out
• 5:39
  there
• 5:40
  but
• 5:40
  it
• 5:40
  doesn't
• 5:40
  mean
• 5:40
  anything
• 5:41
  unless
• 5:41
  you
• 5:41
  know
• 5:41
  what
• 5:41
  the
• 5:41
  parameters
• 5:42
  are.
• 5:43
  So
• 5:43
  you're
• 5:43
  going
• 5:43
  to
• 5:44
  take
• 5:44
  and
• 5:44
  update
• 5:45
  a
• 5:45
  functional
• 5:46
  but
• 5:46
  dated
• 5:46
  200
• 5:47
  square
• 5:47
  foot
• 5:47
  kitchen.
• 5:48
  You're
• 5:48
  going
• 5:48
  to
• 5:49
  leave
• 5:49
  the
• 5:49
  30
• 5:49
  lineal
• 5:50
  feet
• 5:50
  of
• 5:50
  cabinet
• 5:51
  boxes
• 5:51
  in
• 5:51
  place,
• 5:51
  but
• 5:52
  replace
• 5:52
  the
• 5:52
  fronts
• 5:52
  with
• 5:53
  new
• 5:53
  shaker
• 5:53
  wood
• 5:53
  panels
• 5:54
  and
• 5:55
  drawer
• 5:55
  fronts
• 5:55
  including
• 5:56
  hardware.
• 5:57
  So
• 5:57
  basically
• 5:57
  a
• 5:57
  reface.
• 5:59
  You're
• 5:59
  going
• 5:59
  to
• 5:59
  replace
• 5:59
  the
• 6:00
  combination
• 6:00
  cooktop
• 6:01
  oven,
• 6:01
  range
• 6:01
  and
• 6:01
  slide
• 6:02
  in
• 6:02
  refrigerator
• 6:02
  with
• 6:02
  new
• 6:03
  energy
• 6:03
  efficient
• 6:03
  models.
• 6:04
  Install
• 6:04
  mid
• 6:04
  price
• 6:05
  sink
• 6:05
  and
• 6:05
  faucet.
• 6:06
  You're
• 6:06
  going
• 6:06
  to
• 6:06
  replace
• 6:07
  30
• 6:07
  linear
• 6:08
  feet
• 6:08
  of
• 6:08
  laminate
• 6:09
  countertop
• 6:09
  and
• 6:10
  repaint
• 6:11
  trim,
• 6:12
  add
• 6:12
  wall
• 6:12
  covering
• 6:13
  like
• 6:13
  wallpaper
• 6:13
  or
• 6:14
  painting,
• 6:14
  that
• 6:15
  kind
• 6:15
  of
• 6:15
  thing.
• 6:16
  Remove
• 6:16
  and
• 6:17
  replace
• 6:17
  resilient
• 6:18
  flooring.
• 6:19
  Resilient
• 6:20
  flooring
• 6:20
  is
• 6:21
  vinyl.
• 6:21
  So
• 6:22
  we're
• 6:23
  refacing
• 6:23
  the
• 6:23
  kitchen.
• 6:24
  We're
• 6:25
  putting
• 6:25
  new
• 6:25
  fronts
• 6:26
  like
• 6:26
  a
• 6:26
  shaker
• 6:26
  style
• 6:27
  wood
• 6:27
  panel
• 6:27
  on
• 6:27
  them.
• 6:28
  New
• 6:28
  hardware,
• 6:29
  new
• 6:30
  laminate
• 6:30
  countertops,
• 6:32
  new
• 6:32
  mid
• 6:32
  price
• 6:33
  sink
• 6:33
  and
• 6:33
  faucet.
• 6:33
  So
• 6:34
  top
• 6:34
  mount
• 6:34
  sink
• 6:34
  and
• 6:35
  faucet,
• 6:36
  new
• 6:36
  range
• 6:37
  and
• 6:37
  oven,
• 6:37
  and
• 6:37
  of
• 6:38
  course
• 6:38
  the
• 6:39
  new
• 6:39
  vinyl
• 6:39
  flooring.
• 6:40
  Maybe
• 6:40
  you'll
• 6:40
  do
• 6:40
  a
• 6:40
  little,
• 6:41
  you
• 6:41
  know,
• 6:41
  maybe
• 6:42
  you'll
• 6:42
  do
• 6:42
  a
• 6:42
  little
• 6:42
  painting
• 6:43
  and
• 6:43
  of
• 6:43
  course
• 6:43
  maybe
• 6:44
  at
• 6:44
  best
• 6:45
  put
• 6:45
  in
• 6:45
  click
• 6:45
  lock
• 6:46
  flooring
• 6:46
  down
• 6:46
  there.
• 6:46
  But
• 6:47
  they're
• 6:47
  saying
• 6:47
  basically
• 6:48
  sheet
• 6:48
  vinyl.
• 6:49
  So
• 6:49
  we're
• 6:50
  going
• 6:50
  to
• 6:50
  start
• 6:50
  out
• 6:50
  with
• 6:50
  New
• 6:50
  York
• 6:51
  here
• 6:52
  on
• 6:52
  what
• 6:52
  this
• 6:52
  is
• 6:53
  and
• 6:53
  we'll
• 6:53
  even
• 6:53
  talk
• 6:53
  about
• 6:54
  kind
• 6:54
  of
• 6:54
  what
• 6:54
  the
• 6:54
  regional
• 6:55
  and
• 6:55
  the
• 6:56
  national
• 6:56
  averages
• 6:57
  are.
• 6:57
  So
• 6:58
  if
• 6:58
  we're
• 6:58
  looking
• 6:58
  at
• 6:58
  a
• 6:59
  minor,
• 6:59
  minor
• 6:59
  kitchen
• 7:00
  model
• 7:00
  in
• 7:00
  that
• 7:01
  mid
• 7:01
  range
• 7:02
  job,
• 7:03
  cost
• 7:03
  in
• 7:03
  New
• 7:03
  York
• 7:04
  is
• 7:05
  $30,928.
• 7:08
  Now
• 7:09
  what's
• 7:09
  that
• 7:09
  compared
• 7:10
  to
• 7:10
  the
• 7:10
  national
• 7:10
  averages?
• 7:11
  About
• 7:11
  3,000
• 7:12
  bucks
• 7:12
  more
• 7:13
  at
• 7:13
  27,492.
• 7:15
  So
• 7:16
  really
• 7:16
  that's
• 7:16
  kind
• 7:17
  of
• 7:17
  where
• 7:17
  you're
• 7:17
  at
• 7:18
  on
• 7:18
  that.
• 7:18
  So
• 7:19
  New
• 7:19
  York
• 7:19
  is
• 7:19
  at
• 7:20
  3923
• 7:20
  and
• 7:22
  here
• 7:22
  in
• 7:22
  Portland
• 7:23
  we're
• 7:23
  at
• 7:20
  2761
• 7:23
  5.
• 7:25
  So
• 7:25
  we're
• 7:25
  right
• 7:26
  where
• 7:26
  that
• 7:27
  national
• 7:27
  average
• 7:28
  is
• 7:28
  here,
• 7:28
  but
• 7:29
  slightly
• 7:29
  lower
• 7:29
  than
• 7:30
  what
• 7:30
  the
• 7:30
  Pacific
• 7:31
  coast
• 7:31
  region
• 7:32
  is.
• 7:32
  So
• 7:33
  really
• 7:33
  that
• 7:33
  tells
• 7:33
  you
• 7:33
  if
• 7:33
  you're
• 7:34
  going
• 7:34
  to
• 7:34
  just
• 7:34
  do
• 7:34
  a
• 7:34
  really
• 7:35
  quick
• 7:35
  fluff
• 7:36
  and
• 7:36
  buff
• 7:36
  new
• 7:37
  door
• 7:37
  fronts,
• 7:37
  new
• 7:38
  laminate
• 7:38
  countertop
• 7:39
  Sink.
• 7:39
  That's
• 7:39
  a
• 7:40
  $30,000
• 7:41
  remodel
• 7:42
  for
• 7:43
  30
• 7:43
  lineal
• 7:44
  feet
• 7:44
  of
• 7:44
  cabinet
• 7:45
  boxes.
• 7:46
  So
• 7:46
  that
• 7:46
  kind
• 7:46
  of
• 7:46
  tells
• 7:47
  you
• 7:47
  where
• 7:47
  you're
• 7:47
  out
• 7:47
  there.
• 7:48
  Which
• 7:48
  that's
• 7:49
  a
• 7:49
  lot
• 7:49
  of
• 7:49
  money
• 7:49
  for
• 7:49
  a
• 7:49
  lot
• 7:49
  of
• 7:50
  people.
• 7:50
  But
• 7:50
  that
• 7:51
  kind
• 7:51
  of
• 7:51
  gives
• 7:51
  you
• 7:51
  an
• 7:51
  idea
• 7:52
  for
• 7:53
  budgeting.
• 7:53
  Now
• 7:54
  let's
• 7:54
  go
• 7:54
  up
• 7:54
  to
• 7:54
  the
• 7:54
  next
• 7:55
  one.
• 7:55
  Let's
• 7:55
  run
• 7:56
  it
• 7:56
  up
• 7:56
  another
• 7:56
  notch.
• 7:58
  What
• 7:58
  does
• 7:58
  that
• 7:58
  mid
• 7:59
  range
• 7:59
  major
• 8:00
  kitchen
• 8:00
  model
• 8:01
  look
• 8:01
  like?
• 8:01
  So
• 8:02
  now
• 8:02
  we
• 8:02
  see
• 8:02
  major
• 8:03
  is
• 8:03
  an
• 8:03
  additional
• 8:04
  word
• 8:04
  here.
• 8:05
  So
• 8:05
  we're
• 8:05
  going
• 8:05
  to
• 8:06
  update
• 8:06
  an
• 8:07
  outdated
• 8:08
  200
• 8:08
  square
• 8:09
  foot
• 8:09
  kitchen
• 8:10
  with
• 8:10
  a
• 8:10
  functional
• 8:11
  layout
• 8:11
  of
• 8:11
  30
• 8:12
  lineal
• 8:12
  feet

  of

  semi
• 8:13
  custom
• 8:13

  cabinets.
• 8:14
  So
• 8:14
  semi
• 8:14
  custom
• 8:15
  wood
• 8:15
  cabinets.
• 8:16
  Basically
• 8:16
  you're
• 8:17
  going
• 8:17
  to
• 8:17
  go
• 8:17
  into
• 8:17
  your
• 8:17
  home
• 8:17
  center
• 8:18
  and
• 8:18
  you're
• 8:18
  going
• 8:18
  to
• 8:18
  order
• 8:18
  something,
• 8:19
  you
• 8:19
  know,
• 8:19
  like
• 8:20
  craft
• 8:20
  made
• 8:20
  or
• 8:21
  you
• 8:21
  know,
• 8:21
  any
• 8:22
  one
• 8:22
  of
• 8:22
  those
• 8:22
  brands
• 8:23
  that
• 8:23
  you
• 8:23
  see
• 8:23
  in
• 8:23
  the
• 8:23
  home
• 8:23
  center.
• 8:24
  Not
• 8:24
  something
• 8:24
  off
• 8:24
  the
• 8:25
  shelf,
• 8:25
  but
• 8:25
  you're
• 8:25
  going
• 8:25
  to
• 8:25
  order
• 8:25
  something.
• 8:26
  Install
• 8:27
  a
• 8:27
  3
• 8:27
  by
• 8:27
  5
• 8:28
  foot
• 8:28
  island,
• 8:29
  laminate
• 8:30
  countertops.
• 8:30
  Pay
• 8:31
  attention
• 8:31
  to
• 8:31
  that.
• 8:32
  A
• 8:32
  standard
• 8:33
  double
• 8:33
  tub,
• 8:33
  stainless
• 8:34
  steel
• 8:34
  sink,
• 8:34
  which
• 8:34
  would
• 8:34
  be
• 8:34
  a
• 8:35
  top
• 8:35
  mount,
• 8:35
  standard
• 8:36
  single
• 8:36
  level
• 8:37
  faucet.
• 8:37
  So
• 8:37
  no
• 8:38
  pull
• 8:38
  outs,
• 8:38
  nothing
• 8:38
  crazy.
• 8:39
  You're
• 8:39
  going
• 8:39
  to
• 8:39
  put
• 8:40
  an
• 8:40
  energy
• 8:40
  efficient
• 8:40
  range,
• 8:41
  new
• 8:41
  ventilation
• 8:42
  system.
• 8:42
  So
• 8:43
  whatever
• 8:43
  that
• 8:43
  hood
• 8:43
  is
• 8:44
  built
• 8:45
  in,
• 8:45
  microwave,
• 8:46
  dishwasher,
• 8:46
  garbage
• 8:47
  disposal
• 8:48
  and
• 8:48
  some
• 8:48
  custom
• 8:48
  lighting.
• 8:49
  Add
• 8:50
  new
• 8:50
  vinyl
• 8:50
  flooring
• 8:51
  and
• 8:51
  finish
• 8:52
  with
• 8:52
  painted
• 8:53
  walls,
• 8:53
  trim
• 8:53
  and
• 8:53
  ceiling.
• 8:54
  And
• 8:54
  I
• 8:54
  know
• 8:54
  a
• 8:54
  lot
• 8:54
  of
• 8:54
  you
• 8:55
  guys
• 8:55
  are
• 8:55
  going,
• 8:55
  I'm
• 8:55
  not
• 8:56
  putting
• 8:56
  a
• 8:56
  laminate
• 8:56
  back
• 8:57
  in
• 8:57
  there,
• 8:57
  I'm
• 8:57
  not
• 8:57
  putting
• 8:57
  in
• 8:58
  vinyl
• 8:58
  flooring.
• 8:58
  But
• 8:59
  you
• 8:59
  kind
• 8:59
  of
• 8:59
  get
• 8:59
  the
• 8:59
  idea
• 9:00
  of
• 9:00
  where
• 9:00
  that's
• 9:00
  going.
• 9:01
  So
• 9:01
  back
• 9:02
  to
• 9:02
  our
• 9:02
  New
• 9:02
  York
• 9:02
  numbers
• 9:03
  again.
• 9:04
  That's
• 9:04
  going
• 9:04
  to
• 9:04
  be
• 9:04
  at
• 9:05
  89,
• 9:06
  637,
• 9:07
  which
• 9:08
  our
• 9:08
  national
• 9:08
  average
• 9:09
  is
• 9:09
  at
• 9:09
  79,090.
• 9:11
  And
• 9:11
  here
• 9:12
  in
• 9:13
  my
• 9:13
  home
• 9:13
  area
• 9:14
  that
• 9:14
  is
• 9:15
  81,
• 9:15
  7
• 9:16
  58.
• 9:17
  So
• 9:17
  pretty
• 9:18
  close.
• 9:19
  So
• 9:19
  you're
• 9:19
  80
• 9:20
  to
• 9:20
  $90,000
• 9:22
  for
• 9:22
  that
• 9:22
  remodel.
• 9:23
  And
• 9:24
  that's
• 9:24
  with
• 9:25
  new
• 9:25
  cabinets,
• 9:26
  new
• 9:26
  laminate,
• 9:26
  all
• 9:27
  of
• 9:27
  that
• 9:28
  kind
• 9:28
  of
• 9:28
  tells
• 9:28
  you
• 9:28
  where
• 9:29
  a
• 9:29
  remodel
• 9:30
  that
• 9:30
  most
• 9:30
  people
• 9:31
  want
• 9:31
  to
• 9:31
  do.
• 9:32
  All
• 9:32
  of
• 9:33
  a
• 9:33
  sudden
• 9:33
  you're
• 9:33
  starting
• 9:33
  to
• 9:34
  get
• 9:34
  it.
• 9:34
  90,000
• 9:35
  bucks.
• 9:35
  With
• 9:35
  laminate
• 9:36
  it's
• 9:36
  pretty
• 9:36
  easy
• 9:37
  to
• 9:37
  go.
• 9:37
  I
• 9:37
  want
• 9:37
  different
• 9:38
  flooring,
• 9:38
  I
• 9:38
  want
• 9:38
  different
• 9:38
  countert.
• 9:40
  Now
• 9:40
  a
• 9:40
  kitch
• 9:40
  remodel
• 9:41
  with
• 9:41
  that
• 9:42
  is
• 9:42
  a
• 9:43
  legitimate
• 9:44
  six
• 9:44
  figure
• 9:45
  kitchen
• 9:46
  model.
• 9:46
  And
• 9:46
  when
• 9:47
  we
• 9:47
  come
• 9:47
  back,
• 9:47
  I
• 9:47
  want
• 9:47
  to
• 9:47
  talk
• 9:48
  a
• 9:48
  little
• 9:48
  bit
• 9:48
  more
• 9:48
  about
• 9:48
  this
• 9:49
  because
• 9:49
  some
• 9:49
  of
• 9:49
  that's
• 9:50
  just
• 9:50
  not
• 9:50
  doing
• 9:50
  this
• 9:50
  stuff.
• 9:51
  Some
• 9:51
  of
• 9:51
  it
• 9:51
  is
• 9:51
  the
• 9:51
  stuff
• 9:52
  that
• 9:52
  you
• 9:52
  have
• 9:52
  to
• 9:52
  do
• 9:52
  in
• 9:52
  the
• 9:52
  background
• 9:53
  which
• 9:54
  is,
• 9:54
  you
• 9:54
  know,
• 9:55
  adding
• 9:55
  things
• 9:56
  to
• 9:56
  this
• 9:56
  to
• 9:57
  bring
• 9:57
  it
• 9:57
  up
• 9:57
  to
• 9:57
  code
• 9:57
  because
• 9:58
  you're
• 9:58
  going
• 9:58
  to
• 9:58
  pull
• 9:58
  permits
• 9:59
  and
• 9:59
  depending
• 9:59
  on
• 10:00
  the
• 10:00
  code
• 10:00
  in
• 10:00
  your
• 10:00
  area,
• 10:01
  you're
• 10:01
  going
• 10:01
  to
• 10:01
  have
• 10:01
  to
• 10:01
  do
• 10:02
  something
• 10:02
  different
• 10:02
  there.
• 10:03
  So
• 10:03
  when
• 10:03
  we
• 10:03
  come
• 10:03
  back,
• 10:03
  I
• 10:04
  want
• 10:04
  to
• 10:04
  just
• 10:04
  touch
• 10:04
  on
• 10:04
  that.
• 10:05
  What
• 10:05
  are
• 10:05
  the
• 10:05
  big
• 10:05
  things
• 10:06
  that
• 10:06
  you're
• 10:06
  going
• 10:06
  to
• 10:06
  have
• 10:06
  to
• 10:06
  do
• 10:07
  with
• 10:07
  a
• 10:08
  kitchen
• 10:08
  remodel?
• 10:08
  And
• 10:08
  then
• 10:09
  we're
• 10:09
  going
• 10:09
  to
• 10:09
  talk
• 10:09
  about
• 10:09
  the
• 10:09
  upscale
• 10:10
  one
• 10:11
  of
• 10:11
  really
• 10:11
  doing
• 10:12
  it
• 10:12
  what
• 10:12
  you
• 10:12
  want
• 10:12
  to
• 10:12
  see
• 10:13
  it.
• 10:13
  Let
• 10:13
  what
• 10:13
  most
• 10:14
  people's
• 10:14
  dream
• 10:14
  kitchen
• 10:15

  no

• 10:17
  We'll

  that
• 10:17
  just

  here.
• 13:25
  And
• 13:25
  I
• 13:25
  just
• 13:25
  was,
• 13:26
  well,
• 13:26
  we
• 13:26
  were
• 13:27
  a
• 13:27
  break.
• 13:27
  I
• 13:27
  was
• 13:27
  going,
• 13:27
  wait
• 13:28
  a
• 13:28
  minute,
• 13:28
  we
• 13:29
  didn't
• 13:29
  even
• 13:29
  talk
• 13:29
  about
• 13:29
  what
• 13:29
  the
• 13:30
  cost
• 13:30
  recoup
• 13:30
  was
• 13:31
  for
• 13:31
  those
• 13:31
  first
• 13:31
  ones.
• 13:31
  So
• 13:32
  that
• 13:32
  minor
• 13:33
  kitchen
• 13:33
  model,
• 13:33
  if
• 13:33
  you're
• 13:34
  just
• 13:34
  joining
• 13:34
  us
• 13:35
  in
• 13:36
  New
• 13:36
  York
• 13:36
  City,
• 13:36
  that
• 13:37
  was
• 13:37
  at
• 13:37
  30,923.
• 13:39
  Cost
• 13:39
  recouped
• 13:40
  101.9%.
• 13:42
  Man,
• 13:43
  that
• 13:43
  is
• 13:43
  money
• 13:43
  back
• 13:44
  in
• 13:44
  your
• 13:44
  pocket.
• 13:44
  So
• 13:45
  as
• 13:45
  far
• 13:45
  as
• 13:45
  adding
• 13:46
  value
• 13:46
  to
• 13:46
  that,
• 13:47
  that's
• 13:47
  good
• 13:47
  money.
• 13:48
  The
• 13:48
  same
• 13:48
  thing
• 13:49
  in
• 13:49
  the
• 13:49
  Portland
• 13:50
  area,
• 13:50
  except
• 13:51
  it's
• 13:51
  123%
• 13:53
  of
• 13:53
  the
• 13:54
  cost
• 13:54
  recouped.
• 13:55
  So
• 13:55
  on
• 13:55
  that
• 13:56
  one
• 13:56
  you
• 13:56
  made
• 13:57
  your
• 13:57
  money
• 13:57
  back
• 13:57
  and
• 13:58
  then
• 13:58
  some.
• 13:59
  So
• 13:59
  that's
• 13:59
  that
• 14:00
  in
• 14:00
  my
• 14:00
  eyes
• 14:01
  is
• 14:01
  a
• 14:01
  good
• 14:01
  investment
• 14:02
  on
• 14:02
  that.
• 14:03
  And
• 14:04
  then
• 14:04
  right
• 14:04
  before
• 14:04
  we
• 14:04
  went
• 14:04
  to
• 14:04
  break,
• 14:05
  we
• 14:05
  were
• 14:05
  talking
• 14:05
  about
• 14:05
  the
• 14:05
  major
• 14:06
  kitchen
• 14:06
  model.
• 14:07
  And
• 14:07
  this
• 14:07
  is
• 14:07
  where
• 14:08
  we
• 14:08
  start
• 14:08
  to
• 14:08
  go
• 14:09
  sideways.
• 14:10
  So
• 14:10
  in
• 14:10
  New
• 14:11
  York,
• 14:11
  our
• 14:11
  major
• 14:12
  kitchen
• 14:12
  model,
• 14:13
  mid
• 14:13
  range
• 14:13
  was
• 14:13
  at
• 14:13
  89,
• 14:14
  637,
• 14:15
  laminate,
• 14:15
  countertops,
• 14:16
  vinyl
• 14:16
  flooring,
• 14:16
  that
• 14:17
  kind
• 14:17
  of
• 14:17
  stuff.
• 14:18
  Cost
• 14:18
  recouped
• 14:19
  54%.
• 14:21
  Ouch.
• 14:22
  Not
• 14:22
  a
• 14:22
  great
• 14:23
  return
• 14:23
  unless
• 14:23
  you're
• 14:23
  just
• 14:23
  putting
• 14:24
  it
• 14:24
  up
• 14:24
  for
• 14:24
  sale
• 14:25
  and
• 14:25
  you're
• 14:25
  trying
• 14:25
  to
• 14:26
  make
• 14:27
  it
• 14:27
  look
• 14:27
  shiny
• 14:27
  and
• 14:28
  pretty.
• 14:29
  And
• 14:29
  in
• 14:29
  Portland,
• 14:29
  not
• 14:30
  much
• 14:30
  better
• 14:30
  at
• 14:30
  58.9%.
• 14:33
  And
• 14:33
  the
• 14:33
  average
• 14:34
  cost
• 14:35
  recouped
• 14:36
  national
• 14:36
  average
• 14:37
  is
• 14:38
  49.5%.
• 14:41
  So
• 14:42
  for
• 14:42
  every
• 14:43
  dollar
• 14:43
  you
• 14:43
  invest
• 14:44
  in
• 14:44
  a
• 14:45
  mid
• 14:45
  range
• 14:45
  kitchen
• 14:46
  model,
• 14:47
  you
• 14:47
  add
• 14:47
  50%
• 14:48
  of
• 14:48
  that
• 14:48
  to
• 14:49
  your
• 14:49
  value.
• 14:49
  So
• 14:49
  not
• 14:49
  too
• 14:50
  bad,
• 14:50
  not
• 14:50
  too
• 14:51
  bad.
• 14:51
  I've
• 14:51
  seen
• 14:51
  worse,
• 14:51
  I've
• 14:52
  seen
• 14:52
  better.
• 14:53
  And
• 14:53
  some
• 14:53
  of
• 14:53
  the
• 14:53
  things
• 14:54
  we
• 14:54
  got
• 14:54
  to
• 14:54
  think
• 14:54
  about
• 14:54
  when
• 14:55
  we
• 14:55
  get
• 14:55
  into
• 14:55
  this
• 14:55
  mid
• 14:55
  range
• 14:56
  kitchen
• 14:56
  model,
• 14:57
  there
• 14:57
  are
• 14:57
  things
• 14:57
  you
• 14:58
  have
• 14:58
  to
• 14:58
  deal
• 14:58
  with
• 14:58
  that
• 14:58
  are
• 14:59
  included
• 14:59
  and
• 14:59
  not
• 14:59
  included.
• 15:00
  Usually
• 15:00
  when
• 15:00
  you're
• 15:01
  pulling
• 15:01
  permits
• 15:01
  on
• 15:01
  this
• 15:01
  kind
• 15:02
  of
• 15:02
  stuff,
• 15:02
  the
• 15:03
  first
• 15:03
  thing
• 15:03
  is,
• 15:03
  is
• 15:03
  you're
• 15:04
  gonna
• 15:04
  have
• 15:04
  to
• 15:04
  add
• 15:04
  electrical
• 15:04
  circuits.
• 15:05
  So
• 15:06
  this
• 15:06
  is
• 15:06
  where
• 15:06
  these
• 15:06
  sideways
• 15:07
  projects
• 15:08
  can
• 15:08
  happen
• 15:08
  because
• 15:09
  you
• 15:09
  go,
• 15:09
  oh
• 15:09
  wow,
• 15:10
  my
• 15:10
  kitchen
• 15:11
  built
• 15:12
  in
• 15:12
  the
• 15:12
  70s.
• 15:13
  Let's
• 15:13
  say
• 15:13
  it's
• 15:13
  pretty
• 15:14
  common
• 15:15
  to
• 15:15
  have
• 15:15
  your
• 15:15
  outlets
• 15:16
  and
• 15:16
  the
• 15:16
  lights
• 15:16
  on
• 15:16
  the
• 15:16
  same
• 15:17
  circuit.
• 15:17
  Those
• 15:17
  are
• 15:18
  gonna
• 15:18
  be
• 15:18
  different.
• 15:18
  Need
• 15:19
  to
• 15:19
  have
• 15:19
  GFCI
• 15:20
  outlets,
• 15:21
  you
• 15:21
  need
• 15:22
  to
• 15:22
  have.
• 15:22
  Each
• 15:23
  appliance
• 15:23
  needs
• 15:24
  to
• 15:24
  have
• 15:24
  its
• 15:24
  own
• 15:24
  dedicated
• 15:25
  circuit.
• 15:26
  So
• 15:26
  you're
• 15:26
  talking
• 15:27
  refrigerator,
• 15:28
  dishwasher,
• 15:30
  if
• 15:30
  you've
• 15:30
  got
• 15:31
  a
• 15:31
  range,
• 15:32
  of
• 15:32
  course,
• 15:32
  you
• 15:33
  know,
• 15:33
  you
• 15:33
  get
• 15:33
  into
• 15:33
  garbage
• 15:34
  disposal,
• 15:34
  got
• 15:35
  a
• 15:35
  microwave.
• 15:36
  There's
• 15:36
  a
• 15:36
  lot
• 15:36
  of
• 15:37
  dedicated
• 15:37
  circuits
• 15:37
  here.
• 15:38
  So
• 15:38
  sometimes
• 15:38
  you
• 15:39
  can
• 15:39
  add
• 15:39
  2,
• 15:39
  3,
• 15:39
  4
• 15:40
  circuits,
• 15:41
  as
• 15:41
  much
• 15:41
  as
• 15:41
  5,
• 15:42
  depending
• 15:43
  on
• 15:43
  the
• 15:43
  appliances
• 15:43
  you
• 15:44
  pick.
• 15:44
  And
• 15:45
  that's
• 15:45
  where
• 15:45
  that
• 15:45
  starts
• 15:45
  to
• 15:46
  get
• 15:46
  expensive.
• 15:47
  Because
• 15:47
  if
• 15:47
  you
• 15:47
  need
• 15:47
  to
• 15:47
  go
• 15:48
  add
• 15:48
  another
• 15:48
  electrical
• 15:49
  panel
• 15:49
  to
• 15:49
  that,
• 15:50
  that
• 15:50
  can
• 15:50
  be
• 15:50
  five
• 15:50
  to
• 15:51
  ten
• 15:51
  thousand
• 15:51
  bucks.
• 15:52
  Now
• 15:52
  all
• 15:52
  of
• 15:52
  a
• 15:52
  sudden
• 15:52
  that's
• 15:53
  getting
• 15:53
  to
• 15:53
  be
• 15:53
  a
• 15:53
  very
• 15:53
  expensive
• 15:54
  remodel
• 15:54
  just
• 15:54
  to
• 15:55
  get
• 15:55
  it
• 15:55
  up
• 15:55
  to
• 15:55
  code.
• 15:56
  So
• 15:56
  something
• 15:57
  to
• 15:57
  consider
• 15:57
  when
• 15:58
  you're
• 15:58
  looking
• 15:58
  at
• 15:58
  these
• 15:59
  numbers.
• 15:59
  So
• 16:00
  the
• 16:00
  next
• 16:00
  one
• 16:00
  here
• 16:00
  and
• 16:01
  thanks
• 16:01
  to
• 16:01
  the
• 16:01
  cost
• 16:01
  versus
• 16:02
  value
• 16:02
  report
• 16:02
  for
• 16:02
  getting
• 16:02
  this
• 16:03
  information.
• 16:04
  So
• 16:04
  we
• 16:04
  could
• 16:04
  deep
• 16:04
  dive
• 16:05
  into
• 16:05
  it
• 16:05
  and
• 16:05
  take
• 16:05
  a
• 16:05
  look
• 16:06
  and
• 16:06
  see
• 16:06
  what
• 16:06
  these
• 16:06
  real
• 16:06
  costs
• 16:07
  are.
• 16:07
  So
• 16:08
  the
• 16:08
  next
• 16:08
  description,
• 16:08
  and
• 16:09
  like
• 16:09
  I
• 16:09
  said,
• 16:09
  the
• 16:09
  descriptions
• 16:10
  here
• 16:10
  are
• 16:10
  the
• 16:10
  big
• 16:10
  part.
• 16:11
  Upscale
• 16:12
  major
• 16:12
  kitchen
• 16:13
  remodel.
• 16:14
  So
• 16:14
  this
• 16:14
  is
• 16:14
  not
• 16:15
  luxury,
• 16:15
  but
• 16:15
  it's
• 16:15
  upscale.
• 16:16
  You're
• 16:16
  going
• 16:17
  to
• 16:17
  update
• 16:17
  that
• 16:17
  same
• 16:18
  200
• 16:18
  square
• 16:18
  foot
• 16:19
  kitchen
• 16:19
  with
• 16:19
  30
• 16:19
  lineal
• 16:20
  feet
• 16:20
  of
• 16:20
  custom
• 16:20
  white
• 16:21
  cabinets
• 16:22
  with
• 16:22
  built
• 16:22
  in
• 16:22
  sliding
• 16:23
  shelves.
• 16:23
  Install
• 16:24
  stone
• 16:24
  countertops
• 16:25
  with
• 16:26
  ceramic
• 16:26
  or
• 16:26
  glass
• 16:26
  tile
• 16:27
  backsplash
• 16:27
  under
• 16:28
  Mount
• 16:28
  sink.
• 16:29
  Nice
• 16:29
  designer
• 16:30
  faucet,
• 16:30
  water
• 16:31
  filtration
• 16:31
  system,
• 16:32
  a
• 16:32
  built
• 16:32
  in
• 16:33
  refrigerator,
• 16:34
  commercial
• 16:34
  grade
• 16:35
  cooktop
• 16:35
  vent
• 16:36
  hood,
• 16:36
  wall
• 16:37
  oven
• 16:37
  built
• 16:38
  in
• 16:38
  microwave
• 16:38
  unit,
• 16:39
  low
• 16:40
  voltage
• 16:40
  under
• 16:40
  cabinet
• 16:41
  lights.
• 16:41
  Install
• 16:42
  tile
• 16:42
  or
• 16:42
  flooring
• 16:43
  that
• 16:43
  looks
• 16:43
  like
• 16:44
  wood.
• 16:44
  So
• 16:45
  that
• 16:45
  is
• 16:45
  an
• 16:46
  upscale.
• 16:47
  Now
• 16:47
  we
• 16:47
  haven't
• 16:47
  changed
• 16:47
  the
• 16:48
  size
• 16:48
  of
• 16:48
  it.
• 16:49
  So
• 16:49
  here's
• 16:49
  where
• 16:50
  Things
• 16:50
  get
• 16:51
  expensive.
• 16:51
  Let's
• 16:52
  take
• 16:52
  a
• 16:52
  look.
• 16:52
  So
• 16:52
  in
• 16:52
  New
• 16:53
  York,
• 16:53
  we
• 16:53
  start
• 16:54
  with
• 16:54
  them.

  Major
• 16:55
  kitchen
• 16:55
  model.
• 16:56
  $180,733
• 17:00
  is
• 17:00
  the
• 17:00
  average
• 17:01
  price
• 17:01
  for
• 17:01
  that.
• 17:02
  And
• 17:02
  the
• 17:02
  average
• 17:03
  cost
• 17:03
  recoup
• 17:03
  is
• 17:04
  38.9.
• 17:05
  That
• 17:06
  is
• 17:06
  on
• 17:06
  the
• 17:06
  lower
• 17:06
  end
• 17:07
  of
• 17:07
  the
• 17:07
  scale,
• 17:08
  but
• 17:08
  not
• 17:09
  anywhere
• 17:09
  near
• 17:09
  the
• 17:10
  lowest
• 17:10
  as
• 17:11
  cost
• 17:11
  recouped.
• 17:12
  But
• 17:12
  if
• 17:12
  you're
• 17:13
  going
• 17:13
  to
• 17:13
  live
• 17:13
  there,
• 17:14
  that's
• 17:14
  another
• 17:14
  thing,
• 17:15
  right?
• 17:15
  It's
• 17:16
  not
• 17:16
  maybe
• 17:16
  about
• 17:16
  the
• 17:16
  cost
• 17:17
  recoup
• 17:17
  because
• 17:17
  you're
• 17:17
  not
• 17:17
  putting
• 17:18
  on
• 17:18
  the
• 17:18
  market
• 17:18
  tomorrow,
• 17:19
  but
• 17:19
  you
• 17:19
  just
• 17:19
  want
• 17:19
  to
• 17:19
  have
• 17:20
  a
• 17:20
  nice
• 17:20
  kitchen
• 17:20
  to
• 17:21
  cook
• 17:21
  in.
• 17:22
  So
• 17:22
  next
• 17:22
  up
• 17:22
  here,
• 17:23
  major
• 17:23
  kitchen
• 17:23
  remodel
• 17:24
  in
• 17:24
  the
• 17:24
  Portland,
• 17:24
  Oregon
• 17:24
  area.
• 17:25
  163,540
• 17:28
  bucks
• 17:29
  with
• 17:29
  a
• 17:29
  54.1%
• 17:32
  cost
• 17:32
  recoup.
• 17:33
  So
• 17:33
  our
• 17:33
  national
• 17:34
  average
• 17:34
  on
• 17:35
  a
• 17:35
  major
• 17:35
  kitchen
• 17:36
  remodel
• 17:37
  is
• 17:37
  actually
• 17:38
  158,530
• 17:40
  bucks
• 17:40
  for
• 17:41
  all
• 17:41
  the
• 17:41
  things
• 17:41
  that
• 17:41
  we
• 17:42
  had
• 17:42
  in
• 17:42
  that
• 17:42
  list.
• 17:43
  So
• 17:43
  again,
• 17:44
  big
• 17:44
  money.
• 17:45
  You
• 17:45
  know,
• 17:45
  you're
• 17:46
  talking
• 17:46
  expensive
• 17:47
  appliances.
• 17:48
  This
• 17:48
  is
• 17:48
  really
• 17:48
  kind
• 17:49
  of
• 17:49
  what
• 17:49
  people's
• 17:50
  dream
• 17:50
  kitchen,
• 17:51
  if
• 17:51
  they
• 17:52
  were
• 17:52
  going
• 17:52
  to
• 17:52
  jump
• 17:52
  on
• 17:52
  Pinterest
• 17:53
  or
• 17:53
  create
• 17:54
  their
• 17:54
  own
• 17:54
  book
• 17:55
  of
• 17:55
  what
• 17:55
  do
• 17:55
  they
• 17:55
  want
• 17:55
  in
• 17:55
  their
• 17:56
  dream
• 17:56
  kitchen.
• 17:57
  So
• 17:57
  you're
• 17:57
  up
• 17:57
  there
• 17:58
  in
• 17:58
  that
• 17:58
  $160,000
• 18:00
  average
• 18:01
  price
• 18:01
  range
• 18:02
  on
• 18:02
  up.
• 18:03
  Something
• 18:04
  to
• 18:04
  consider.
• 18:05
  Now
• 18:06
  let's
• 18:06
  dive
• 18:06
  into
• 18:07
  bathrooms
• 18:07
  here
• 18:08
  because
• 18:08
  this
• 18:08
  is
• 18:08
  another
• 18:09
  one
• 18:09
  that
• 18:10
  can
• 18:10
  be
• 18:10
  shockingly
• 18:11
  expensive.
• 18:11
  Now,
• 18:12
  one
• 18:12
  last
• 18:12
  thing
• 18:12
  on
• 18:12
  the
• 18:13
  kitchen,
• 18:13
  you
• 18:14
  can
• 18:14
  save
• 18:14
  some
• 18:14
  money
• 18:14
  doing
• 18:15
  it
• 18:15
  yourself,
• 18:16
  but
• 18:16
  you're
• 18:16
  still
• 18:16
  going
• 18:16
  to
• 18:17
  want
• 18:17
  to
• 18:17
  hire
• 18:17
  a
• 18:17
  designer
• 18:18
  to
• 18:18
  help
• 18:18
  do
• 18:18
  the
• 18:18
  layout
• 18:18
  for
• 18:19
  you
• 18:19
  to
• 18:19
  work
• 18:19
  through
• 18:19
  those
• 18:20
  things.
• 18:21
  And
• 18:21
  who
• 18:22
  knows
• 18:22
  what
• 18:22
  your
• 18:22
  ability
• 18:23
  is,
• 18:23
  but
• 18:24
  it's
• 18:24
  something
• 18:24
  that
• 18:24
  can
• 18:24
  be
• 18:25
  tackled.
• 18:26
  Just
• 18:26
  think
• 18:26
  about
• 18:26
  it.
• 18:27
  A
• 18:27
  kitchen
• 18:27
  remodel
• 18:28
  can
• 18:28
  take,
• 18:29
  you
• 18:29
  know,
• 18:29
  four
• 18:30
  to
• 18:30
  12
• 18:30
  weeks,
• 18:30
  depending
• 18:31
  on
• 18:31
  what
• 18:31
  you're
• 18:31
  doing.
• 18:32
  That's
• 18:32
  for
• 18:32
  a
• 18:33
  good
• 18:33
  kitchen
• 18:33
  model
• 18:34
  with
• 18:34
  a
• 18:34
  contractor
• 18:35
  in
• 18:35
  there,
• 18:36
  different
• 18:36
  trades,
• 18:37
  not
• 18:37
  having
• 18:37
  the
• 18:37
  trades
• 18:38
  working
• 18:39
  over
• 18:39
  the
• 18:39
  top
• 18:39
  of
• 18:39
  each
• 18:39
  other,
• 18:40
  you
• 18:40
  know,
• 18:40
  demos
• 18:41
  a
• 18:41
  couple
• 18:41
  days.
• 18:42
  Now
• 18:42
  we're
• 18:42
  getting,
• 18:43
  you
• 18:43
  know,
• 18:43
  electrical
• 18:44
  done.
• 18:44
  We've
• 18:45
  got
• 18:45
  plumbers
• 18:45
  in
• 18:45
  there.
• 18:46
  We've
• 18:46
  got
• 18:46
  all
• 18:46
  the
• 18:47
  different
• 18:47
  stuff
• 18:47
  going
• 18:47
  on.
• 18:47
  We've
• 18:48
  got
• 18:48
  all
• 18:48
  the
• 18:48
  different
• 18:48
  permits.
• 18:49
  That's
• 18:49
  just
• 18:49
  kind
• 18:49
  of
• 18:49
  how
• 18:49
  that
• 18:49
  works.
• 18:50
  So
• 18:51
  there's
• 18:51
  not
• 18:51
  a
• 18:51
  one
• 18:51
  week
• 18:52
  Kitch
• 18:52
  remodel.
• 18:52
  Guys,
• 18:52
  I'm
• 18:53
  sorry,
• 18:54
  not.
• 18:54
  That's
• 18:54
  going
• 18:54
  to
• 18:54
  do
• 18:55
  quality
• 18:55
  work.
• 18:55
  There's
• 18:56
  rarely
• 18:56
  a
• 18:56
  one
• 18:57
  month
• 18:57
  Kitch
• 18:57
  remodel
• 18:58
  unless
• 18:58
  it's
• 18:59
  something
• 18:59
  small
• 18:59
  like
• 18:59
  a,
• 19:00
  like
• 19:00
  a
• 19:00
  reface
• 19:00
  or
• 19:01
  something
• 19:01
  like
• 19:01
  that
• 19:01
  where
• 19:01
  it's
• 19:01
  not
• 19:02
  that
• 19:02
  big
• 19:02
  a
• 19:02
  deal.
• 19:02
  If
• 19:02
  you're
• 19:03
  opening
• 19:03
  walls
• 19:03
  up,
• 19:04
  pretty
• 19:04
  much
• 19:05
  think
• 19:05
  that's,
• 19:05
  you
• 19:06
  know,
• 19:06
  six
• 19:06
  to
• 19:06
  12
• 19:06
  weeks
• 19:07
  on
• 19:08
  average
• 19:08
  with
• 19:09
  a
• 19:09
  Good
• 19:09
  contractor.
• 19:10
  So
• 19:10
  depending
• 19:11
  on
• 19:11
  how
• 19:12
  fast
• 19:12
  your
• 19:13
  municipality
• 19:13
  can
• 19:13
  get
• 19:14
  in
• 19:14
  there
• 19:14
  for
• 19:14
  inspections
• 19:15
  and
• 19:15
  all
• 19:15
  those
• 19:15
  things,
• 19:15
  if
• 19:16
  those
• 19:16
  are
• 19:16
  applicable
• 19:17
  in
• 19:17
  your
• 19:18
  area.
• 19:18
  So
• 19:19
  let's
• 19:19
  talk
• 19:19
  mid
• 19:19
  range
• 19:20
  bathroom
• 19:20
  remodel.
• 19:21
  We're
• 19:22
  going
• 19:22
  to
• 19:22
  update
• 19:22
  an
• 19:23
  existing
• 19:23
  5
• 19:24
  by
• 19:24
  7
• 19:24
  foot
• 19:24
  bathroom
• 19:25
  with
• 19:26
  ceramic
• 19:26
  tile
• 19:27
  floor.
• 19:27
  So
• 19:28
  think
• 19:28
  about
• 19:28
  that
• 19:28
  five
• 19:29
  by
• 19:29
  seven.
• 19:29
  That's
• 19:29
  kind
• 19:29
  of
• 19:29
  that
• 19:30
  hall
• 19:30
  bathroom
• 19:30
  bathtub
• 19:31
  at
• 19:31
  the
• 19:31
  end.
• 19:32
  You
• 19:32
  walk
• 19:32
  in
• 19:33
  on
• 19:33
  the
• 19:33
  right
• 19:33
  or
• 19:33
  the
• 19:33
  left,
• 19:33
  get
• 19:34
  a
• 19:34
  vanity
• 19:35
  and
• 19:35
  a,
• 19:35
  you
• 19:35
  know,
• 19:35
  and
• 19:36
  a
• 19:36
  toilet
• 19:36
  bathtub
• 19:37
  at
• 19:37
  the
• 19:37
  end.
• 19:38
  Pretty
• 19:38
  simple.
• 19:39
  So
• 19:39
  with
• 19:39
  that,
• 19:39
  we're
• 19:40
  going
• 19:40
  to
• 19:40
  update
• 19:40
  an
• 19:40
  existing
• 19:41
  5
• 19:41
  by
• 19:41
  7
• 19:41
  foot
• 19:42
  bathroom
• 19:43
  with
• 19:43
  ceramic
• 19:44
  tile
• 19:44
  floor.
• 19:45
  Replace
• 19:45
  the
• 19:45
  existing
• 19:46
  tub
• 19:47
  with
• 19:47
  a
• 19:47
  30
• 19:48
  by
• 19:48
  60
• 19:48
  inch
• 19:49
  porcelain
• 19:50
  on
• 19:50
  steel.
• 19:51
  Yikes.
• 19:51
  Tub
• 19:52
  with
• 19:53
  ceramic
• 19:53
  tile
• 19:53
  surround
• 19:54
  and
• 19:55
  new
• 19:55
  single
• 19:55
  level
• 19:56
  shower
• 19:57
  control.
• 19:57
  We're
• 19:58
  going
• 19:58
  to
• 19:58
  replace
• 19:58
  the
• 19:58
  fixtures
• 19:59
  with
• 19:59
  new
• 19:59
  standard
• 19:59
  white
• 20:00
  toilet,
• 20:00
  solid
• 20:00
  surface
• 20:01
  vanity
• 20:01
  counter
• 20:01
  with
• 20:01
  integral
• 20:02
  sink
• 20:02
  and
• 20:03
  recessed
• 20:03
  medicine
• 20:04
  cabinet
• 20:04
  with
• 20:05
  light.
• 20:05
  So
• 20:05
  let's
• 20:06
  talk
• 20:06
  about
• 20:06
  a
• 20:06
  couple
• 20:06
  things
• 20:07
  here.
• 20:07
  First
• 20:08
  off,
• 20:08
  we're
• 20:09
  replacing
• 20:09
  the
• 20:09
  existing
• 20:10
  tub
• 20:10
  with
• 20:11
  one
• 20:11
  of
• 20:11
  the
• 20:12
  cheapest
• 20:12
  tubs
• 20:13
  on
• 20:13
  the
• 20:13
  market
• 20:14
  that
• 20:14
  I
• 20:14
  don't
• 20:14
  recommend.
• 20:15
  And
• 20:15
  that's
• 20:16
  a
• 20:16
  30x60
• 20:17
  porcelain
• 20:17
  on
• 20:18
  steel.
• 20:18
  So
• 20:18
  it's
• 20:18
  basically
• 20:19
  a
• 20:19
  painted
• 20:19
  steel
• 20:20
  tub
• 20:20
  with
• 20:20
  ceramic
• 20:21
  tile
• 20:21
  surround
• 20:22
  and
• 20:22
  new
• 20:22
  single
• 20:22
  lever
• 20:24
  shower
• 20:24
  control.
• 20:25
  Now
• 20:25
  there's
• 20:25
  one
• 20:26
  thing
• 20:26
  that's
• 20:26
  omitted
• 20:27
  on
• 20:27
  this
• 20:27
  list
• 20:28
  and
• 20:28
  that
• 20:28
  is
• 20:29
  I
• 20:29
  don't
• 20:29
  see
• 20:29
  any
• 20:29
  new
• 20:30
  cabinets
• 20:30
  here.
• 20:30
  So
• 20:30
  you're
• 20:30
  going
• 20:30
  to
• 20:31
  leave
• 20:31
  those
• 20:31
  cabinets
• 20:32
  there.
• 20:32
  Solid
• 20:32
  surface
• 20:32
  vanity
• 20:33
  counter
• 20:33
  with
• 20:33
  integral
• 20:34
  sink
• 20:34
  and
• 20:34
  recessed
• 20:35
  medicine
• 20:35
  cabinet
• 20:35
  with
• 20:36
  light.
• 20:36
  So
• 20:36
  we're
• 20:36
  not
• 20:36
  changing
• 20:37
  ventilation,
• 20:37
  we're
• 20:37
  not
• 20:37
  doing
• 20:37
  anything
• 20:38
  else
• 20:38
  and
• 20:39
  that
• 20:39
  gets
• 20:39
  interesting.
• 20:40
  So
• 20:40
  when
• 20:40
  we
• 20:41
  come
• 20:41
  back,
• 20:41
  we'll
• 20:41
  talk
• 20:41
  about
• 20:41
  the
• 20:42
  numbers
• 20:42
  on
• 20:42
  the
• 20:42

• 20:43
  because
• 20:44
  that's
• 20:44
  a
• 20:44
  big
• 20:44
  one
• 20:45
  right
• 20:45
  there.
• 20:46
  You'll
• 20:46
  be
• 20:46
  surprised
• 20:47
  at
• 20:47
  what
• 20:47
  the
• 20:47
  numbers
• 20:47
  are
• 20:47
  for
• 20:48
  something
• 20:48
  this
• 20:48
  basic.

• 24:58

• 24:58
  usually
• 24:59
  that
• 24:59
  kind
• 24:59
  of
• 24:59
  thing.
• 25:00
  We
• 25:00
  went
• 25:00
  through
• 25:00
  the
• 25:01
  parameters
• 25:02
  on
• 25:02
  that
• 25:02
  really
• 25:02
  basic,
• 25:03
  not
• 25:03
  replacing
• 25:04
  the

• 25:05
  you
• 25:05
  know,
• 25:05
  keeping
• 25:06
  it
• 25:06
  simple.
• 25:07
  If
• 25:07
  we
• 25:07
  go
• 25:07
  here
• 25:07
  into
• 25:08
  New

• 25:08
  which
• 25:09
  is
• 25:09

  because
• 25:10
  I
• 25:10
  can't
• 25:11
  compare
• 25:11
  everybody
• 25:12
  here,
• 25:12
  it'd
• 25:12
  be
• 25:12
  kind
• 25:12
  of
• 25:12
  crazy.
• 25:13
  I
• 25:13
  just
• 25:13
  wanted
• 25:14
  to
• 25:14
  go
• 25:14
  a
• 25:14
  coast
• 25:14
  to
• 25:14
  coast
• 25:15

• 25:15
  here.
• 25:16
  If
• 25:16
  we
• 25:16
  look
• 25:16
  at
• 25:17
  mid
• 25:17

• 25:17

• 25:18

• 25:19

• 25:19
  New
• 25:19
  York,
• 25:20
  average
• 25:20

• 25:21
  $30,235,
• 25:25
  your
• 25:25
  cost
• 25:25
  recouped
• 25:26
  pretty
• 25:27
  good
• 25:27
  at
• 25:27
  67.9%.
• 25:29
  We're
• 25:30
  here
• 25:30
  in
• 25:30
  Portland,
• 25:30
  Oregon
• 25:31
  where
• 25:31
  I'm
• 25:31
  at
• 25:32
  28,
• 25:33
  926.
• 25:34
  Wow.
• 25:34
  At
• 25:34
  a
• 25:35
  76.7%,
• 25:36
  that's
• 25:36
  pretty
• 25:37
  good.
• 25:37
  That's
• 25:38
  pretty
• 25:38
  good
• 25:38
  on
• 25:38
  the
• 25:38
  cost
• 25:39
  versus
• 25:39
  value.
• 25:40
  Now
• 25:40
  keep
• 25:40
  in
• 25:40
  mind
• 25:40
  for
• 25:41
  30,000
• 25:41
  bucks,
• 25:41
  you're
• 25:42
  reusing
• 25:42
  the
• 25:42
  cabinet.
• 25:43
  You
• 25:43
  got
• 25:44
  a
• 25:44
  cheap
• 25:44
  toilet,
• 25:45
  you
• 25:45
  got
• 25:45
  a
• 25:45
  cheap
• 25:46
  tub.
• 25:47
  You're
• 25:47
  not
• 25:47
  doing
• 25:47
  anything
• 25:48
  with
• 25:49
  the
• 25:49
  fans
• 25:49
  really
• 25:50
  the
• 25:50
  lights.
• 25:50
  You
• 25:51
  might
• 25:51
  have
• 25:51
  a
• 25:51
  medicine
• 25:51
  cabinet
• 25:52
  with
• 25:52
  light,
• 25:52
  but
• 25:52
  who
• 25:52
  does
• 25:53
  that
• 25:53
  so
• 25:53
  much
• 25:53
  anymore?
• 25:53
  That's
• 25:54
  pretty
• 25:54
  dated.
• 25:55
  That's
• 25:55
  the
• 25:56
  base
• 25:56
  model
• 25:56
  for
• 25:57
  this.
• 25:57
  Now
• 25:58
  when
• 25:58
  we
• 25:58
  get
• 25:58
  into
• 25:58
  the

• 26:01
  it
• 26:01
  gets
• 26:01
  a
• 26:01
  little
• 26:02
  more
• 26:02
  exciting.
• 26:03
  You're
• 26:03
  going
• 26:03
  to
• 26:03
  expand
• 26:04
  an
• 26:05

  You're

  there

  that

  that's

• 27:33
  Well,
• 27:34

• 27:34
  good,
• 27:35
  pretty
• 27:35
  good

  that

  on
• 27:38
  what
• 27:39
  you're
• 27:39
  doing.
• 27:40
  So
• 27:40
  that
• 27:40
  gets
• 27:40

• 27:41

• 27:41

  here's

  next
• 27:43

• 27:43
  and
• 27:43
  this
• 27:44
  one's

  Really

  this

  is
• 30:28
  just
• 30:29
  adding

• 30:34
  We're

• 30:35
  anything,
• 30:35
  we're

• 30:41
  And
• 30:41
  that
• 30:41
  gets
• 30:42
  interesting
• 30:42
  in
• 30:42
  its
• 30:42

• 30:43
  because
• 30:43
  that

  can
• 30:44
  be
• 30:44
  very
• 30:44

• 30:44

  on
• 30:45
  where

  this

  will

  be
• 30:47
  a
• 30:47

• 30:47
  for
• 30:47
  you.
• 30:48
  All
• 30:48
  right,
• 30:49
  what's
• 30:49
  that
• 30:49
  number
• 30:50
  In
• 30:50
  New
• 30:51

• 30:51
  we

  what

  are

• 31:11
  That
• 31:11
  is
• 31:11
  a
• 31:12
  tough
• 31:12
  one
• 31:12
  unless
• 31:12
  you
• 31:12
  were

  just

  selling
• 31:22

• 31:23
  bedroom,
• 31:24
  two
• 31:24

• 31:25
  it
• 31:25
  could

  make
• 31:26
  a
• 31:26
  lot
• 31:26
  of
• 31:26
  sense
• 31:26
  for

  you
• 31:27
  to
• 31:27
  add
• 31:27
  this

• 31:28
  and
• 31:28
  that
• 31:28

• 31:29

• 31:29
  could
• 31:29
  be

• 31:31
  And
• 31:32
  if
• 31:32
  you're
• 31:32
  trying
• 31:32
  to

  something
• 31:35
  that

  really
• 31:36
  helps

  you
• 31:37
  get
• 31:37
  that

  That's

• 31:39

• 31:39
  right
• 31:40
  there.
• 31:40
  These

  numbers
• 31:40
  are

  not
• 31:41
  going
• 31:41
  to
• 31:41
  be
• 31:42
  gospel
• 31:43
  on

  but

  you'll

  get
• 31:44
  what
• 31:44
  I
• 31:44
  mean
• 31:45
  by
• 31:45
  how

  that's

  to

• 33:12
  And
• 33:12
  they

  it's

  well,
• 34:52
  before
• 34:53
  we
• 34:53
  get
• 34:53
  into
• 34:53
  the

• 34:54
  And

• 34:55
  that
• 34:56

• 34:57
  I
• 34:57
  wanted
• 34:57
  to
• 34:57
  give
• 34:58
  you
• 34:58
  a
• 34:58
  little
• 34:59
  story
• 34:59
  from
• 34:59
  this
• 34:59
  weekend
• 35:00
  that
• 35:00
  was
• 35:00
  kind
• 35:01
  of
• 35:01
  interesting.
• 35:01
  And
• 35:02
  I'm
• 35:02
  always
• 35:02
  out
• 35:02
  there
• 35:03
  looking
• 35:03
  for
• 35:03
  good
• 35:04
  outdoor
• 35:04
  cleaners.
• 35:06
  And,
• 35:06
  you
• 35:06
  know,
• 35:06
  I'll.
• 35:07
  Sometimes
• 35:07
  we'll
• 35:07
  take
• 35:07
  dawn
• 35:08
  soap,
• 35:08
  like
• 35:08
  when
• 35:09
  I'm
• 35:09
  trying
• 35:09
  to
• 35:09
  clean
• 35:09
  the
• 35:09
  deck
• 35:10
  or
• 35:10
  the
• 35:11
  hot
• 35:11
  tub
• 35:11
  cover,
• 35:12
  something
• 35:12
  like
• 35:12
  that.
• 35:12
  And
• 35:12
  it
• 35:13
  just
• 35:14
  kind
• 35:14
  of
• 35:14
  works
• 35:14
  okay,
• 35:15
  but
• 35:15
  not
• 35:16
  amazing.
• 35:16
  I
• 35:16
  actually
• 35:17
  found
• 35:17
  something,
• 35:18
  and
• 35:19
  I
• 35:19
  haven't
• 35:19
  talked
• 35:19
  to
• 35:19
  these
• 35:19
  guys
• 35:20
  in
• 35:20
  probably
• 35:21
  four
• 35:21
  or
• 35:21
  five
• 35:21
  years.
• 35:22
  So
• 35:22
  this
• 35:22
  is
• 35:22
  by
• 35:23
  no
• 35:23
  means
• 35:23
  a
• 35:23
  sponsored
• 35:24
  segment,
• 35:24
  but
• 35:25
  I
• 35:25
  went.
• 35:26
  Or.
• 35:26
  This
• 35:26
  isn't
• 35:26
  even
• 35:27
  an
• 35:27
  ad.
• 35:27
  This
• 35:28
  is
• 35:28
  something
• 35:28
  that
• 35:28
  I
• 35:28
  went,
• 35:29
  hey,
• 35:29
  this
• 35:29
  is
• 35:29
  interesting.
• 35:30
  I
• 35:30
  went
• 35:30
  down.
• 35:31
  I
• 35:31
  was
• 35:31
  down
• 35:31
  at
• 35:31
  Home
• 35:31
  Depot,
• 35:32
  and
• 35:32
  I
• 35:32
  went,
• 35:32
  I
• 35:32
  need
• 35:32
  to
• 35:32
  get
• 35:32
  something
• 35:33
  to
• 35:33
  do
• 35:33
  some
• 35:33
  cleaning
• 35:33
  because
• 35:33
  it
• 35:33
  was
• 35:34
  like
• 35:34
  50
• 35:34
  degrees
• 35:34
  and
• 35:35
  sunny,
• 35:35
  which
• 35:36
  is
• 35:36
  pretty
• 35:36
  rare
• 35:36
  for
• 35:36
  us.
• 35:37
  And
• 35:37
  I'm
• 35:37
  like,
• 35:37
  all
• 35:37
  right.
• 35:37
  I
• 35:38
  get
• 35:38
  some
• 35:38
  of
• 35:38
  this
• 35:38
  dirt
• 35:38
  and
• 35:38
  grime
• 35:39
  from
• 35:39
  the
• 35:39
  dogs
• 35:39
  and
• 35:40
  everything
• 35:40
  else.
• 35:40
  You
• 35:41
  know,
• 35:41
  playing
• 35:41
  ball.
• 35:41
  Outside
• 35:42
  just
• 35:42
  marks
• 35:43
  up
• 35:43
  everywhere.
• 35:44
  And
• 35:44
  when
• 35:44
  you've
• 35:44
  got
• 35:44
  a
• 35:44
  lot
• 35:44
  of
• 35:45
  black
• 35:45
  house
• 35:45
  and
• 35:45
  black
• 35:46
  things
• 35:46
  like
• 35:46
  that
• 35:46
  around,
• 35:46
  it
• 35:47
  shows
• 35:47
  every
• 35:47
  bit
• 35:47
  of
• 35:47
  dirt.
• 35:48
  I
• 35:48
  bought
• 35:49
  the
• 35:49
  30
• 35:49
  seconds
• 35:50
  outdoor
• 35:50
  cleaner
• 35:51
  ready
• 35:51
  to
• 35:51
  spray.
• 35:52
  And
• 35:53
  it
• 35:53
  works
• 35:53
  quickly
• 35:54
  on,
• 35:54
  you
• 35:54
  know,
• 35:54
  it
• 35:55
  says
• 35:55
  50
• 35:55
  plus
• 35:55
  surfaces.
• 35:56
  You
• 35:56
  basically
• 35:56
  spray
• 35:57
  on
• 35:57
  and
• 35:57
  hose
• 35:57
  off,
• 35:58
  but
• 35:58
  takes
• 35:59
  stains
• 35:59
  from
• 35:59
  dirt,
• 35:59
  mold,
• 36:00
  mildew,
• 36:01
  and
• 36:01
  it's
• 36:01
  literally
• 36:02
  just
• 36:02
  a
• 36:03
  big
• 36:03
  hose
• 36:04
  end
• 36:04
  sprayer.
• 36:05
  Dang,
• 36:05
  guys.
• 36:06
  This
• 36:06
  stuff
• 36:06
  works.
• 36:06
  Awesome.
• 36:07
  I
• 36:07
  was
• 36:07
  shocked.
• 36:08
  They
• 36:08
  have
• 36:08
  me
• 36:09
  sold.
• 36:09
  It
• 36:09
  works
• 36:09
  so
• 36:10
  much
• 36:10
  better
• 36:10
  than,
• 36:10
  like
• 36:11
  the.
• 36:11
  The
• 36:12
  Windex
• 36:13
  cleaner
• 36:13
  that
• 36:13
  they.
• 36:14
  That
• 36:14
  you
• 36:14
  can
• 36:14
  get.
• 36:15
  That's
• 36:15
  the
• 36:15
  hose
• 36:15
  end
• 36:16
  for
• 36:16
  cleaning
• 36:17
  outside.
• 36:17
  This
• 36:17
  stuff,
• 36:18
  it's
• 36:18
  got
• 36:19
  a
• 36:19
  little
• 36:19
  bit
• 36:19
  of
• 36:20
  kind
• 36:20
  of
• 36:20
  a
• 36:21
  bleach
• 36:21
  smell
• 36:22
  to
• 36:22
  it.
• 36:22
  I
• 36:22
  don't
• 36:23
  know
• 36:23
  how
• 36:23
  much
• 36:23
  is
• 36:23
  in
• 36:23
  there,
• 36:24
  but
• 36:24
  not
• 36:24
  enough
• 36:25
  to
• 36:25
  really
• 36:26
  get
• 36:26
  you
• 36:27
  to,
• 36:27
  you
• 36:27
  know,
• 36:27
  get
• 36:28
  on
• 36:28
  your
• 36:28
  clothes
• 36:28
  or
• 36:28
  do
• 36:28
  anything.
• 36:29
  But
• 36:30
  it's
• 36:30
  interesting.
• 36:31
  I
• 36:31
  mean,
• 36:31
  it's
• 36:31
  good
• 36:31
  stuff.
• 36:32
  Now
• 36:32
  I'm
• 36:32
  gonna
• 36:32
  take
• 36:32
  a
• 36:33
  look
• 36:33
  and
• 36:33
  see
• 36:33
  what's
• 36:33
  in
• 36:33
  this
• 36:33
  stuff.
• 36:34
  Cause
• 36:34
  it's.
• 36:35
  Let's
• 36:35
  pull
• 36:35
  the
• 36:35
  label
• 36:36
  back
• 36:36
  here
• 36:36
  and
• 36:36
  see
• 36:37
  what
• 36:37
  it
• 36:37
  says.
• 36:38
  But
• 36:38
  I
• 36:38
  tell
• 36:38
  you
• 36:39
  what,
• 36:39
  it's
• 36:39
  good
• 36:39
  stuff.
• 36:39
  As
• 36:40
  you
• 36:40
  hear
• 36:40
  me,
• 36:40
  pull
• 36:40
  it
• 36:40
  back.
• 36:41
  But
• 36:41
  yeah,
• 36:42
  just
• 36:42
  basically
• 36:42
  says,
• 36:43
  leave
• 36:43
  it
• 36:43
  on
• 36:43
  there
• 36:43
  for
• 36:44
  three
• 36:44
  to
• 36:44
  five
• 36:45
  minutes.
• 36:46
  Spray
• 36:46
  it
• 36:46
  off.
• 36:46
  Read
• 36:47
  the
• 36:47
  directions,
• 36:47
  of
• 36:47
  course.
• 36:48
  But
• 36:49
  it
• 36:49
  is
• 36:49
  awesome.
• 36:50
  Doesn't
• 36:50
  really
• 36:51
  say
• 36:52
  what's
• 36:52
  in
• 36:52
  it,
• 36:53
  but
• 36:54
  interesting
• 36:54
  stuff.
• 36:55
  I'm
• 36:55
  sure
• 36:55
  if
• 36:55
  I
• 36:55
  dive
• 36:56
  in
• 36:56
  deep
• 36:56
  on
• 36:56
  the
• 36:56
  web,
• 36:57
  I
• 36:57
  can
• 36:57
  find
• 36:57
  it
• 36:57
  out.
• 36:57
  But
• 36:58
  take
• 36:58
  a
• 36:58
  look
• 36:58
  at
• 36:58
  this
• 36:58
  stuff.
• 36:59
  It
• 36:59
  worked.
• 36:59
  Awesome.
• 37:00
  Things
• 37:00
  look
• 37:00
  cleaner.
• 37:01
  They
• 37:01
  have
• 37:01
  in
• 37:01
  a
• 37:01
  long
• 37:01
  time.
• 37:02
  And
• 37:02
  I
• 37:02
  didn't
• 37:02
  even
• 37:02
  have
• 37:02
  to
• 37:02
  get
• 37:02
  a
• 37:03
  pressure
• 37:03
  washer,
• 37:03
  so
• 37:04
  pretty
• 37:04
  cool
• 37:04
  that
• 37:04
  way.
• 37:05
  Well,
• 37:05
  we've
• 37:05
  been
• 37:05
  talking
• 37:06
  about
• 37:06
  this
• 37:07
  interesting
• 37:07
  one
• 37:08
  here
• 37:08
  when
• 37:08
  we
• 37:08
  went
• 37:08
  to
• 37:09
  break,
• 37:09
  which
• 37:09
  was,
• 37:10
  of
• 37:10
  course,
• 37:10
  cost
• 37:10
  versus
• 37:11
  value
• 37:11
  inside.
• 37:13
  You
• 37:13
  know,
• 37:13
  what's
• 37:13
  the
• 37:13
  cost,
• 37:14
  remodeling,
• 37:14
  what's
• 37:14
  the
• 37:15
  cost
• 37:15
  of
• 37:15
  actually
• 37:16
  sitting
• 37:16
  there
• 37:17
  and
• 37:17
  what's
• 37:18
  the
• 37:18
  return
• 37:19
  on
• 37:19
  that
• 37:19
  remodel?
• 37:20
  We
• 37:20
  were
• 37:20
  talking
• 37:21
  upscale
• 37:21
  primary
• 37:22
  suite
• 37:22
  addition.
• 37:22
  We
• 37:23
  went
• 37:23
  to
• 37:23
  break.
• 37:23
  We're
• 37:23
  going
• 37:23
  to
• 37:24
  add
• 37:24
  a
• 37:24
  32
• 37:24

• 37:49
  So
• 37:49
  we're
• 37:49
  kind
• 37:49
  of
• 37:49
  going
• 37:50
  for
• 37:50
  the

• 37:51

• 37:52
  all
• 37:52
  here
• 37:53
  and

  Man,

  spendy.
• 38:23
  You
• 38:23
  would
• 38:24
  think.
• 38:24
  And
• 38:24
  this
• 38:25
  is
• 38:25
  where
• 38:25
  I
• 38:25
  start
• 38:25
  to
• 38:26
  look
• 38:26
  at
• 38:26
  stuff
• 38:26
  like
• 38:26
  this.
• 38:27
  So
• 38:28
  many
• 38:28
  people's
• 38:28
  houses
• 38:29
  out
• 38:29
  there
• 38:30
  are

• 38:35
  If
• 38:35
  you
• 38:35
  had
• 38:36
  a
• 38:36
  house
• 38:36
  fire,
• 38:37
  they're
• 38:37
  telling
• 38:37
  you
• 38:37
  to
• 38:37
  do
• 38:38
  a
• 38:38
  master
• 38:39
  bedroom
• 38:40
  addition.
• 38:41
  You're
• 38:41
  paying
• 38:41
  389
• 38:42
  for
• 38:42
  that,
• 38:43
  and
• 38:43
  you
• 38:43
  own
• 38:43
  the
• 38:43
  land.
• 38:44
  Make
• 38:45
  sure
• 38:45
  you've
• 38:45
  got
• 38:45
  the
• 38:45
  right
• 38:45
  amount
• 38:46
  of
• 38:46
  coverage
• 38:47
  for
• 38:47
  what
• 38:47
  you're
• 38:47
  doing.
• 38:48
  That's
• 38:48
  a
• 38:48
  great
• 38:49
  proof
• 38:49
  right
• 38:49
  there.
• 38:50
  And
• 38:51
  you
• 38:51
  better
• 38:51
  be
• 38:51
  living
• 38:51
  in
• 38:52
  that
• 38:52
  house
• 38:52
  for
• 38:52
  a
• 38:52
  long
• 38:52
  time.
• 38:53
  Because
• 38:53
  if
• 38:53
  you
• 38:53
  think
• 38:54
  you're
• 38:54
  getting
• 38:54
  that
• 38:54
  money
• 38:54
  back
• 38:55
  when
• 38:55
  you
• 38:55
  go
• 38:55
  sell
• 38:55
  it,
• 38:56
  that
• 38:56
  is
• 38:56
  hard
• 38:57
  to
• 38:57
  capture
• 38:57
  that
• 38:58
  back
• 38:58
  when
• 38:59
  your
• 39:00
  return
• 39:00
  is
• 39:00
  24,
• 39:01
  25%.
• 39:03
  So
• 39:03
  75%
• 39:04
  of
• 39:04
  that
• 39:04
  money's
• 39:04
  for
• 39:05
  you.
• 39:05
  25%
• 39:06
  of
• 39:06
  that's
• 39:07
  going
• 39:07
  back
• 39:07
  into
• 39:07
  the
• 39:07
  house.
• 39:08
  Something
• 39:08
  to
• 39:08
  consider.
• 39:09
  Now,
• 39:10
  the
• 39:10
  last
• 39:10
  one
• 39:10
  on
• 39:11
  here,
• 39:11
  which
• 39:12
  I
• 39:12
  think
• 39:12
  is
• 39:12
  really
• 39:13
  important,
• 39:13
  and
• 39:13
  this
• 39:13
  is
• 39:14
  something
• 39:14
  that
• 39:14
  we're
• 39:14
  seeing
• 39:14
  more
• 39:15
  and
• 39:15
  more
• 39:15
  just
• 39:15
  due
• 39:15
  to
• 39:16
  fuel
• 39:16
  costs.
• 39:17
  But
• 39:17
  this
• 39:18
  is
• 39:18
  converting
• 39:19
  from
• 39:19
  fossil
• 39:19
  fuel
• 39:20
  furnace
• 39:20
  to
• 39:20
  electric
• 39:21
  heat
• 39:21
  pump.
• 39:22
  So
• 39:22
  this
• 39:23
  is
• 39:23
  remove
• 39:24
  and
• 39:24
  dispose
• 39:24
  of
• 39:24
  an
• 39:24
  existing
• 39:25
  natural
• 39:25
  gas,
• 39:26
  propane
• 39:26
  or
• 39:27
  oil
• 39:27
  furnace.
• 39:28
  Install
• 39:28
  electric
• 39:29
  heat
• 39:29
  pump
• 39:29
  to
• 39:29
  cool
• 39:30
  2000
• 39:31
  square
• 39:31
  foot
• 39:31
  home
• 39:31
  heat
• 39:32
  and
• 39:32
  cool
• 39:32
  it.
• 39:33
  Remove
• 39:33
  existing
• 39:33
  metal
• 39:34
  ductwork
• 39:34
  and
• 39:35
  grills,
• 39:35
  Patch
• 39:35
  drywall,
• 39:36
  touch
• 39:36
  up
• 39:36
  paint,
• 39:37
  all
• 39:38
  required
• 39:38
  electrical
• 39:38
  wiring
• 39:39
  to
• 39:39
  the
• 39:39
  service
• 39:39
  panel.
• 39:40
  Ah,
• 39:41
  so
• 39:41
  this
• 39:41
  is
• 39:41
  a
• 39:41
  mini
• 39:41
  split.
• 39:42
  Okay,
• 39:42
  guys,
• 39:43
  this
• 39:43
  is
• 39:43
  telling
• 39:43
  us
• 39:43
  a
• 39:43
  little
• 39:43
  bit
• 39:44
  more.
• 39:44
  This
• 39:44
  is
• 39:45
  Basically
• 39:45
  abandoning
• 39:46
  the
• 39:46
  system
• 39:46
  and
• 39:47
  putting
• 39:47
  a
• 39:47
  mini
• 39:47
  split
• 39:47
  in
• 39:48
  five
• 39:49
  line
• 39:49
  sets,
• 39:49
  five
• 39:50
  indoor
• 39:50
  wall
• 39:50
  units,
• 39:51
  two
• 39:51
  9,000
• 39:51
  BTU
• 39:52
  units,
• 39:52
  one
• 39:53
  6,000
• 39:54
  in
• 39:54
  the
• 39:54
  bedrooms,
• 39:54
  two
• 39:55
  12,000
• 39:55
  in
• 39:55
  the
• 39:55
  main
• 39:55
  living
• 39:56
  area.
• 39:56
  This
• 39:57
  is
• 39:57
  abandoning
• 39:58
  your
• 39:59
  old
• 39:59
  central
• 39:59
  heat,
• 40:00
  whether
• 40:00
  it's
• 40:01
  propane,
• 40:02
  natural
• 40:02
  gas,
• 40:02
  oil,
• 40:03
  and
• 40:04
  going
• 40:04
  in
• 40:04
  and
• 40:04
  doing
• 40:04
  that
• 40:05
  in
• 40:06
  New
• 40:06
  York,
• 40:07
  they're
• 40:07
  saying
• 40:08
  that
• 40:08
  is
• 40:09
  $23,789
• 40:11
  at
• 40:12
  a
• 40:12
  65.5%
• 40:14
  return.
• 40:14
  In
• 40:15
  here
• 40:15
  in
• 40:15
  my
• 40:15
  area,
• 40:16
  19,000.
• 40:17
  So
• 40:17
  basically
• 40:17
  20
• 40:18
  grand
• 40:18
  with
• 40:19
  a
• 40:19
  52.2%
• 40:20
  return.
• 40:21
  That
• 40:22
  tells
• 40:22
  me
• 40:22
  a
• 40:22
  few
• 40:23
  things
• 40:23
  here.
• 40:23
  One,
• 40:24
  I'm
• 40:24
  not
• 40:25
  changing
• 40:25
  out
• 40:25
  my
• 40:25
  natural
• 40:26
  gas
• 40:26
  anytime
• 40:26
  soon
• 40:27
  because
• 40:27
  I
• 40:27
  put
• 40:27
  a
• 40:27
  new
• 40:27
  one
• 40:28
  in
• 40:28
  because
• 40:28
  I
• 40:29
  just
• 40:29
  love
• 40:29
  that
• 40:30
  heat.
• 40:30
  Two,
• 40:31
  I
• 40:31
  know
• 40:31
  many
• 40:31
  of
• 40:31
  you
• 40:31
  that
• 40:31
  are
• 40:31
  in
• 40:32
  the
• 40:32
  northern
• 40:32
  states
• 40:33
  are
• 40:33
  concerned,
• 40:33
  especially
• 40:34
  when
• 40:34
  you
• 40:34
  get
• 40:34
  into
• 40:34
  like
• 40:34
  Dakotas
• 40:35
  and,
• 40:35
  and
• 40:36
  all
• 40:36
  of
• 40:36
  that.
• 40:36
  That
• 40:37
  gets
• 40:37
  pretty
• 40:37
  crazy
• 40:38
  up
• 40:38
  there
• 40:38
  where
• 40:38
  you
• 40:39
  start
• 40:39
  getting
• 40:39
  past
• 40:39
  the
• 40:40
  ability
• 40:40
  of
• 40:40
  heat
• 40:40
  pumps.
• 40:41
  But
• 40:41
  many
• 40:41
  of
• 40:41
  the
• 40:41
  northern
• 40:42
  states
• 40:42
  here
• 40:42
  can
• 40:42
  still
• 40:43
  get
• 40:43
  away
• 40:43
  with
• 40:43
  them.
• 40:43
  I
• 40:43
  know
• 40:44
  people
• 40:44
  that
• 40:44
  are
• 40:44
  putting
• 40:45
  heat
• 40:45
  pumps
• 40:45
  in
• 40:45
  Maine,
• 40:46
  but
• 40:46
  you
• 40:46
  can
• 40:47
  do
• 40:47
  that.
• 40:48
  But
• 40:49
  by
• 40:49
  the
• 40:49
  time
• 40:49
  you
• 40:49
  do
• 40:50
  that,
• 40:50
  man,
• 40:51
  there's
• 40:51
  a
• 40:51
  lot
• 40:52
  of
• 40:52
  work
• 40:52
  right
• 40:52
  there.
• 40:53
  And
• 40:53
  I
• 40:54
  get
• 40:54
  it.
• 40:54
  If
• 40:54
  you're
• 40:54
  on
• 40:54
  oil,
• 40:55
  I
• 40:55
  mean,
• 40:55
  my
• 40:55
  little
• 40:55
  brother,
• 40:56
  he's
• 40:56
  on
• 40:56
  oil,
• 40:57
  and
• 40:57
  it's
• 40:58
  expensive,
• 40:59
  it's
• 40:59
  darn
• 40:59
  expensive.
• 41:00
  Hopefully
• 41:00
  that
• 41:00
  goes
• 41:01
  down.
• 41:01
  But
• 41:02
  heating
• 41:02
  oil
• 41:02
  this
• 41:02
  time
• 41:02
  of
• 41:03
  year
• 41:03
  in
• 41:04
  February
• 41:05
  now
• 41:05
  is
• 41:06
  very
• 41:06
  expensive.
• 41:07
  It's
• 41:07
  just
• 41:07
  one
• 41:08
  of
• 41:08
  those
• 41:08
  things.
• 41:08
  But
• 41:09
  that
• 41:09
  is
• 41:09
  a
• 41:09
  big
• 41:09
  one
• 41:10
  when
• 41:10
  it
• 41:11
  comes
• 41:11
  to
• 41:11
  that.
• 41:12
  I'm
• 41:12
  pretty,
• 41:13
  pretty
• 41:13
  shocked
• 41:14
  that
• 41:15
  just
• 41:15
  for
• 41:15
  a
• 41:15
  mini
• 41:15
  split
• 41:16
  you're
• 41:16
  talking
• 41:16
  that
• 41:16
  kind
• 41:16
  of
• 41:17
  money.
• 41:17
  But
• 41:18
  you're
• 41:18
  also
• 41:18
  not
• 41:19
  dealing
• 41:19
  with
• 41:19
  some
• 41:20
  stuff
• 41:20
  here
• 41:20
  too.
• 41:20
  If
• 41:20
  you've
• 41:21
  got
• 41:21
  a
• 41:22
  propane
• 41:22
  tank
• 41:22
  buried
• 41:23
  in
• 41:23
  the
• 41:23
  yard,
• 41:24
  they're
• 41:24
  not
• 41:24
  removing
• 41:25
  that.
• 41:25
  If
• 41:25
  you've
• 41:26
  got
• 41:26
  an
• 41:26
  oil
• 41:26
  tank,
• 41:27
  that
• 41:27
  is
• 41:27
  the
• 41:27
  next
• 41:27
  big
• 41:28
  can
• 41:28
  of
• 41:28
  worms.
• 41:29
  And
• 41:29
  it's
• 41:30
  really
• 41:30
  depending
• 41:30
  on
• 41:31
  your
• 41:31
  state,
• 41:32
  where
• 41:32
  you
• 41:32
  live
• 41:33
  and
• 41:33
  what's
• 41:34
  going
• 41:34
  on,
• 41:34
  that
• 41:35
  can
• 41:35
  be
• 41:35
  a
• 41:35
  massive
• 41:36
  one.
• 41:36
  If
• 41:36
  you're
• 41:37
  lucky.
• 41:38
  You've
• 41:38
  got
• 41:38
  a
• 41:38
  tank
• 41:39
  down
• 41:39
  in
• 41:39
  your,
• 41:39
  in
• 41:40
  your
• 41:40
  basement.
• 41:40
  It's
• 41:41
  a
• 41:41
  metal
• 41:41
  tank
• 41:41
  up
• 41:42
  on
• 41:42
  stands.
• 41:43
  They
• 41:43
  fill
• 41:43
  it
• 41:43
  up
• 41:43
  from
• 41:43
  outside
• 41:44
  and
• 41:45
  if
• 41:45
  it
• 41:45
  leaks,
• 41:45
  you
• 41:46
  can
• 41:46
  see
• 41:46
  it.
• 41:47
  I'll
• 41:47
  tell
• 41:47
  you
• 41:47
  what,
• 41:48
  I
• 41:48
  was
• 41:48
  living
• 41:48
  in
• 41:48
  a
• 41:48
  house.
• 41:49
  It
• 41:49
  was
• 41:49
  a
• 41:50
  rental
• 41:50
  house
• 41:50
  right
• 41:51
  when
• 41:51
  I
• 41:51
  was
• 41:51
  going
• 41:51
  through
• 41:51
  divorce.
• 41:52
  And
• 41:53
  I
• 41:53
  was
• 41:53
  living
• 41:53
  in
• 41:54
  this
• 41:54
  in
• 41:55
  Lake
• 41:55
  Forest
• 41:56
  park,
• 41:56
  north
• 41:56
  of
• 41:57
  Seattle,
• 41:57
  Washington.
• 41:59
  And
• 41:59
  when
• 42:00
  I
• 42:00
  walked
• 42:00
  outside,
• 42:01
  first
• 42:01
  off,
• 42:02
  I
• 42:02
  knew
• 42:02
  how
• 42:02
  much
• 42:03
  oil
• 42:03
  in
• 42:03
  the
• 42:03
  tank.
• 42:04
  When
• 42:05
  springtime
• 42:05
  came
• 42:05
  on,
• 42:05
  I
• 42:06
  didn't
• 42:06
  use
• 42:06
  that
• 42:06
  for
• 42:06
  the
• 42:07
  entire
• 42:08
  summer.
• 42:08
  No
• 42:08
  heat
• 42:09
  used.
• 42:09
  And
• 42:09
  then
• 42:10
  I
• 42:10
  went
• 42:10
  back
• 42:11
  and
• 42:11
  25%
• 42:12
  of
• 42:13
  that
• 42:13
  tank
• 42:13
  was
• 42:14
  missing
• 42:14
  oil.
• 42:15
  And
• 42:15
  I
• 42:15
  guarantee
• 42:15
  you
• 42:16
  nobody
• 42:16
  was
• 42:16
  over
• 42:16
  there
• 42:16
  trying
• 42:17
  to
• 42:17
  rip
• 42:17
  it
• 42:17
  off.
• 42:17
  Even
• 42:18
  though
• 42:18
  a
• 42:18
  lot
• 42:19
  of
• 42:19
  other
• 42:19
  stuff
• 42:19
  got
• 42:19
  ripped
• 42:19
  out
• 42:19
  of
• 42:20
  that
• 42:20
  house.
• 42:20
  Crime
• 42:21
  was
• 42:21
  crazy,
• 42:21
  but
• 42:21
  there
• 42:22
  wasn't
• 42:22
  somebody
• 42:22
  pumping
• 42:23
  it
• 42:23
  out
• 42:23
  of
• 42:23
  there.
• 42:24
  So
• 42:24
  I
• 42:24
  reported
• 42:25
  that
• 42:25
  to
• 42:25
  my
• 42:25
  landlord
• 42:26
  and
• 42:26
  went,
• 42:26
  hey,
• 42:27
  we
• 42:27
  kind
• 42:27
  of
• 42:27
  got
• 42:27
  a
• 42:27
  problem
• 42:27
  right
• 42:28
  here.
• 42:28
  There's
• 42:29
  some
• 42:29
  leaks.
• 42:30
  They
• 42:30
  came
• 42:30
  in,
• 42:30
  did
• 42:31
  some
• 42:31
  looking
• 42:31
  around
• 42:32
  and
• 42:33
  I
• 42:33
  ended
• 42:33
  up
• 42:33
  having
• 42:33
  to
• 42:33
  move
• 42:33
  out
• 42:34
  of
• 42:34
  that
• 42:34
  place
• 42:34
  because
• 42:35
  they
• 42:35
  had
• 42:35
  to
• 42:35
  dig
• 42:36
  up
• 42:36
  the
• 42:36
  entire
• 42:37
  front
• 42:38
  yard,
• 42:38
  dig
• 42:39
  down,
• 42:39
  remove
• 42:40
  the
• 42:40
  tank,
• 42:41
  and
• 42:42
  there
• 42:42
  was
• 42:42
  six
• 42:43
  figures
• 42:43
  spent
• 42:44
  easily
• 42:45
  in
• 42:45
  the
• 42:45
  front
• 42:45
  yard
• 42:46
  hauling
• 42:47
  off
• 42:47
  dirt
• 42:48
  for
• 42:48
  hazmat
• 42:49
  oil
• 42:50
  filled.
• 42:50
  I
• 42:50
  mean,
• 42:50
  there
• 42:50
  were
• 42:51
  thousands
• 42:51
  of
• 42:51
  gallons
• 42:52
  of
• 42:52
  heating
• 42:53
  oil
• 42:53
  that
• 42:53
  had
• 42:53
  been
• 42:53
  dropped
• 42:54
  down
• 42:54
  into
• 42:54
  the
• 42:54
  soil
• 42:54
  right
• 42:55
  there
• 42:55
  because
• 42:56
  the
• 42:56
  renters
• 42:57
  really
• 42:57
  didn't
• 42:57
  care,
• 42:57
  didn't
• 42:58
  pay
• 42:58
  attention
• 42:58
  to
• 42:58
  like
• 42:59
  you
• 42:59
  would
• 42:59
  a
• 42:59
  homeowner
• 43:00
  over
• 43:00
  the
• 43:00
  years.
• 43:01
  And
• 43:01
  so
• 43:01
  it's
• 43:01
  just
• 43:01
  something
• 43:02
  that
• 43:02
  was
• 43:02
  kind
• 43:02
  of
• 43:02
  neglected.
• 43:04
  And
• 43:04
  it's
• 43:05
  really
• 43:05
  good
• 43:06
  to
• 43:06
  keep
• 43:06
  track
• 43:06
  of
• 43:07
  those
• 43:07
  underground
• 43:08
  oil
• 43:08
  tanks.
• 43:09
  And
• 43:09
  quite
• 43:09
  frankly,
• 43:10
  there's
• 43:10
  a
• 43:10
  lot
• 43:10
  of
• 43:10
  states
• 43:10
  out
• 43:11
  there
• 43:11
  that'll
• 43:11
  either
• 43:11
  help
• 43:12
  you
• 43:12
  do
• 43:12
  it
• 43:12
  or
• 43:13
  they'll
• 43:13
  help
• 43:13
  you
• 43:13
  manage
• 43:13
  it.
• 43:14
  But
• 43:15
  here,
• 43:15
  boy,
• 43:15
  I
• 43:16
  tell
• 43:16
  you
• 43:16
  what,
• 43:16
  they,
• 43:17
  it
• 43:17
  is
• 43:17
  like
• 43:17
  cleaning
• 43:18
  up
• 43:18
  a
• 43:18
  gas
• 43:18
  station
• 43:19
  sometimes.
• 43:19
  There
• 43:19
  is
• 43:19
  a
• 43:20
  big
• 43:20
  project
• 43:21
  and
• 43:21
  I
• 43:21
  had
• 43:21
  to
• 43:21
  move
• 43:22
  out
• 43:22
  of
• 43:22
  the
• 43:22
  house
• 43:22
  and
• 43:22
  we,
• 43:23
  we
• 43:23
  called
• 43:23
  it
• 43:23
  a
• 43:23
  day
• 43:24
  at
• 43:24
  that
• 43:24
  location.
• 43:24
  It
• 43:24
  was
• 43:25
  a
• 43:25
  beautiful
• 43:25
  place,
• 43:26
  Haunted
• 43:27
  too,
• 43:27
  which
• 43:27
  is
• 43:27
  a
• 43:27
  whole
• 43:27
  other
• 43:28
  story.
• 43:28
  But
• 43:29
  my
• 43:29
  kids
• 43:29
  told
• 43:29
  me
• 43:29
  story
• 43:30
  about
• 43:30
  that
• 43:30
  that
• 43:30
  they
• 43:30
  didn't
• 43:30
  tell
• 43:31
  me
• 43:31
  when
• 43:31
  we
• 43:31
  were
• 43:31
  living
• 43:31
  there.
• 43:32
  But
• 43:32
  long
• 43:32
  story
• 43:33
  short,
• 43:33
  that
• 43:34
  had
• 43:34
  an
• 43:34
  oil
• 43:35
  smell
• 43:35
  that
• 43:35
  you
• 43:35
  could
• 43:36
  smell
• 43:36
  outside
• 43:37
  towards
• 43:37
  the
• 43:37
  end.
• 43:37
  And
• 43:38
  I'm
• 43:38
  like,
• 43:38
  okay,
• 43:39
  if
• 43:39
  I
• 43:39
  can
• 43:39
  smell
• 43:39
  that
• 43:40
  outside
• 43:40
  when
• 43:40
  I
• 43:40
  walk
• 43:40
  out
• 43:40
  to
• 43:41
  get
• 43:41
  in
• 43:41
  the
• 43:41
  car,
• 43:42
  that
• 43:42
  was
• 43:42
  an
• 43:42
  insane
• 43:43
  one.
• 43:43
  That
• 43:43
  was
• 43:43
  a
• 43:44
  big,
• 43:44
  expensive
• 43:45
  cleanup.
• 43:46
  None
• 43:46
  of
• 43:46
  those
• 43:46
  things
• 43:47
  are
• 43:47
  covered.
• 43:48
  Now,
• 43:48
  there's
• 43:48
  a
• 43:48
  lot
• 43:48
  of
• 43:49
  states
• 43:49
  that
• 43:49
  regulate
• 43:49
  this.
• 43:50
  There's
• 43:50
  ones
• 43:50
  that
• 43:50
  aren't.
• 43:51
  And
• 43:52
  those
• 43:52
  are
• 43:52
  all
• 43:52
  things
• 43:53
  to
• 43:53
  really
• 43:54
  pay
• 43:54
  attention
• 43:54
  to.
• 43:55
  Now,
• 43:55
  if
• 43:56
  you're
• 43:56
  listening
• 43:56
  here
• 43:56
  on
• 43:57
  the
• 43:57
  radio
• 43:57
  and
• 43:57
  they
• 43:57
  only
• 43:57
  carry
• 43:58
  the
• 43:58
  first
• 43:58
  hour
• 43:59
  of
• 43:59
  the
• 43:59
  show,
• 43:59
  make
• 43:59
  sure
• 44:00
  you
• 44:00
  catch
• 44:00
  the
• 44:00
  podcast
• 44:01
  because
• 44:02
  in
• 44:02
  our
• 44:02
  next
• 44:02
  hour
• 44:03
  of
• 44:03
  the
• 44:03
  show,
• 44:04
  we
• 44:04
  are
• 44:04
  going
• 44:04
  to
• 44:04
  be
• 44:05
  talking
• 44:05
  about
• 44:06
  all
• 44:06
  these
• 44:06
  exterior
• 44:07
  renovations
• 44:08
  and
• 44:08
  what
• 44:08
  the
• 44:08
  cost
• 44:09
  versus
• 44:09
  value
• 44:10
  is.
• 44:10
  If
• 44:10
  you're
• 44:11
  thinking
• 44:11
  about
• 44:12
  really
• 44:12
  investing
• 44:13
  in
• 44:13
  some
• 44:13
  places,
• 44:14
  there
• 44:14
  are
• 44:14
  some
• 44:15
  amazing
• 44:16
  returns
• 44:16
  on
• 44:16
  some
• 44:17
  of
• 44:17
  these
• 44:17
  projects
• 44:18
  that
• 44:19
  you'd
• 44:19
  be
• 44:19
  smart
• 44:19
  to
• 44:19
  do
• 44:20
  because
• 44:20
  it
• 44:20
  puts
• 44:20
  that
• 44:20
  value
• 44:21
  right
• 44:21
  smack
• 44:22
  dab
• 44:22
  into
• 44:22
  your
• 44:22
  house
• 44:23
  and
• 44:24
  that
• 44:24
  makes
• 44:24
  for
• 44:24
  exciting
• 44:25
  times
• 44:25
  when
• 44:25
  you
• 44:25
  can
• 44:25
  put
• 44:26
  a
• 44:26
  little
• 44:26
  bit
• 44:26
  of
• 44:26
  money
• 44:26
  in
• 44:27
  and
• 44:27
  really
• 44:28
  gain
• 44:28
  that
• 44:28
  back
• 44:28
  in
• 44:28
  your
• 44:29
  house
• 44:29
  value.
• 44:29
  We're
• 44:29
  going
• 44:29
  to
• 44:30
  be
• 44:30
  talking
• 44:30
  about
• 44:30
  entry
• 44:31
  doors,
• 44:31
  we're
• 44:31
  going
• 44:31
  to
• 44:31
  be
• 44:32
  talking
• 44:32
  about
• 44:32
  garage
• 44:32
  doors,
• 44:33
  deck
• 44:33
  additions,
• 44:34
  roofing,
• 44:35
  windows,
• 44:35
  siding,
• 44:36
  siding
• 44:37
  replacement,
• 44:38
  whether
• 44:38
  it's
• 44:38
  vinyl
• 44:39
  or
• 44:39
  fiber
• 44:39
  cement,
• 44:40
  manufactured
• 44:41
  stone
• 44:41
  veneer.
• 44:41
  We
• 44:42
  got
• 44:42
  a
• 44:42
  lot
• 44:42
  of
• 44:42
  stuff
• 44:42
  we're
• 44:42
  going
• 44:42
  to
• 44:42
  be
• 44:43
  talking
• 44:43
  about
• 44:43
  here
• 44:43
  in
• 44:43
  the
• 44:44
  next
• 44:44
  hour.
• 44:45
  If
• 44:45
  you
• 44:45
  want
• 44:45
  to
• 44:45
  find
• 44:45
  out
• 44:45
  more
• 44:46
  about
• 44:46
  us
• 44:46
