Luna: Ooh, like dogs and cats? Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with perro. Say it with me: perro. Luna: Perro. Lucas: Perfect. That means dog. One more time: perro. Luna: Perro. Lucas: Great. Now the other one: gato. Cat. Luna: Gato. Lucas: Yes. Gato is cat. Listen again: gato. Luna: Gato. I love cats. Lucas: Me too. Now let's make a sentence. El perro es grande. The dog is big. Luna: El perro es grande. Lucas: Good. Grande means big. So, El perro es grande. Luna: El perro es grande. But what if the dog is small? Lucas: Then you say El perro es pequeño. But that's for another day. Let's stick with grande. Luna: Okay. El perro es grande. Lucas: Now for cat. La gata es pequeña. The cat is small. Notice we say la gata for a female cat. Gato is male, gata is female. Luna: Ohh, so la gata. La gata es pequeña. Lucas: Exactly. Pequeña means small. So, La gata es pequeña. Luna: La gata es pequeña. That's a cute sentence. Lucas: It is. Now let's say Tengo un perro. I have a dog. Luna: Tengo un perro. So tengo means I have? Lucas: Right. Tengo un perro. Try it. Luna: Tengo un perro. I have a dog. What about I have a cat? Lucas: Tengo un gato. But careful: if it's a female cat, Tengo una gata. Luna: Tengo una gata. Good to know. Lucas: Let's practice all three. Say after me: perro. Luna: Perro. Lucas: gato.
