- 0:11Speaker 1: We're on tour now, which is very exciting.
- 0:12Speaker 2: It is.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We're having a lot of amazing special opening acts. Correct.
- 0:17Speaker 2: We are.
- 0:18Speaker 1: And just like some highlights from the show. I mean,
- 0:20Speaker 1: we didn't do a sound check because we were running
- 0:23Speaker 1: a little behind. And we remembered everything. Oh, you mean
- 0:26Speaker 1: for the first show? Yeah, for the show. We didn't
- 0:28Speaker 1: forget anything.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Well, no, we did a sound check at Madison Square
- 0:30Speaker 3: Garden for three nights. So that kind of counts. For
- 0:34Speaker 3: those that don't know, so the soundboard that we have
- 0:39Speaker 3: is digital, which means you put a little USB stick
- 0:42Speaker 3: in there.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Thumb drive.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Pull it out, and when you get to the next city,
- 0:45Speaker 3: all you have to do is put that in there,
- 0:46Speaker 3: and the whole thing comes to life, and it works
- 0:48Speaker 3: and sounds exactly like it did in the last city. Although,
- 0:51Speaker 3: what you can't predict is how the audience is going
- 0:52Speaker 3: to respond to different moments in the show. And there
- 0:54Speaker 3: were some things that I think we've seen just from
- 0:56Speaker 3: show to show that are different moments. Like, a highlight
- 1:00Speaker 3: for me, which kind of went a little viral, sort
- 1:02Speaker 3: of a virus, was when you did the backwards moment
- 1:05Speaker 3: down in the crowd. And the person that you sang
- 1:08Speaker 3: in front of didn't have their phone up in their face.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Or in your face. Either did the people to their
- 1:12Speaker 1: left or right, which I just really appreciated. I'm not
- 1:14Speaker 1: saying don't use your phone. We're not the kind of
- 1:16Speaker 1: bands like... No one use your phone for this next song.
- 1:19Speaker 1: We're not that kind of band. Name an artist that
- 1:22Speaker 1: does that. Do it. But I would say we don't mind, whatever.
- 1:27Speaker 1: We're living in that generation. But it is nice when
- 1:29Speaker 1: people are like in the moment because there's been a
- 1:31Speaker 1: couple times where I'm like trying to find someone's face
- 1:33Speaker 1: to sing to with them and there's just an iPhone
- 1:35Speaker 1: light in my eye and it's a little distracting.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I get it.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It's an exciting moment for some. But I appreciate that
- 1:41Speaker 1: you're just locked in. Yes, totally. Hats off to her.
- 1:44Speaker 1: My favorite thing so far is that people are starting
- 1:46Speaker 1: to get really back into the drum toss. The drumstick toss.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Are they? I'm going to be honest. I feel underappreciated.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It's a very hard thing to do. It's so difficult.
- 1:56Speaker 1: You need to light it on fire. Also, I would
- 1:58Speaker 1: make it on fire or freeze one and then surprise Jack.
- 2:03Speaker 1: You can wear a glove and he catches a frozen drumstick.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Or throw a drumstick like an ice cream drumstick. You
- 2:09Speaker 1: get it? All right, let's bring in our next guest.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, our opener. Jamie Miller, everybody.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Welcome to the Angels podcast. Before you walked in, we
- 2:21Speaker 1: were singing your praises. Thanks, dude. Man, we are fans.
- 2:24Speaker 1: We're so happy for you. Congrats on everything.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 2:28Speaker 1: How's it feel for you? I mean, it's like you're
- 2:30Speaker 1: being shot out of a rocket ship, huh?
- 2:31Speaker 2: Dude, it feels like I brought the song out eight
- 2:33Speaker 2: weeks ago. I had no plan for it to be
- 2:36Speaker 2: a success.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It's only been eight weeks?
- 2:37Speaker 2: Eight weeks, yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 1: How long before were you teasing it? It's been played
- 2:39Speaker 1: every one of those weeks in my house.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I was teasing it for about four weeks.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And then it just took on a life of its own.
- 2:46Speaker 2: No one really cared about me like nine weeks ago.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Now I'm booking like the most insane things in my life.
- 2:51Speaker 2: So I'm just very grateful to be here.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Let's go. What's been, that sounds like I'm trying to
- 2:56Speaker 1: get fishing for an answer, but I promise I'm not.
- 2:59Speaker 1: What's been, besides us, The most exciting call or you've
- 3:02Speaker 1: seen somebody use a song that you've been like, pinch
- 3:04Speaker 1: me moment, like, oh my God.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yesterday, we just went top 10 in the UK. Oh, wow.
- 3:08Speaker 1: That's massive.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Wow. So that's like, I'm from the UK, so that's
- 3:12Speaker 2: like a special moment. I'm from Wales and Cardiff.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Okay, great.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And then obviously this, coming on tour with you boys.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Been such a fan.
- 3:20Speaker 1: You were very close with your family.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Very close, yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 1: And so I think I've seen a couple of videos,
- 3:25Speaker 1: every big announcement, every big bit of news, you're calling
- 3:28Speaker 1: mom and dad, like, tell me, They must be ecstatic
- 3:31Speaker 1: for you at home.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, man. I think for the past, I'll be honest,
- 3:35Speaker 2: for the past few years, it's been kind of a
- 3:36Speaker 2: rough ride. I feel like, yeah, I think as artists,
- 3:40Speaker 2: we go through like these ups and downs unless you're
- 3:42Speaker 2: really successful. And even then, but I feel like it
- 3:45Speaker 2: was just like a really rough for me. I went
- 3:46Speaker 2: through some really personal, really dark personal stuff. So I
- 3:50Speaker 2: never really thought I'd come back to music. And then
- 3:52Speaker 2: this year, I like at the beginning of the year,
- 3:54Speaker 2: I said, this is like my final try. And I
- 3:57Speaker 2: went away in February and I wrote my dream album
- 3:59Speaker 2: with two of my best friends. And Baby Doll was
- 4:02Speaker 2: my first song back after two years. And kind of
- 4:04Speaker 2: just like mental how this.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Is all happening. Was there something that sparked it for
- 4:09Speaker 1: you again? If you don't mind us asking, obviously. That
- 4:12Speaker 1: you were like, you know what? I'm going to get
- 4:14Speaker 1: back in the studio. I am going to do this.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I think I just owed it to myself. I feel
- 4:18Speaker 2: like I've had this dream since I was a kid.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And all my best friends are like really... having their
- 4:24Speaker 2: moments like Alex Warren and all these people and I
- 4:29Speaker 2: was like if I want to at least give it
- 4:30Speaker 2: one more try and then that way I can say
- 4:32Speaker 2: I've tried and then it just baby doll happened and
- 4:35Speaker 2: yeah was it.
- 4:36Speaker 3: One of those when when you wrote it where you
- 4:38Speaker 3: thought okay this this could be it um or did
- 4:41Speaker 3: it come out of left field it.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Kind of came out of left field if I'm honest
- 4:44Speaker 2: I like built my career off sad music I feel
- 4:47Speaker 2: like this year. Isn't that the irony? Turns out, people
- 4:50Speaker 2: like you happy. But then, I don't know. This year,
- 4:52Speaker 2: I've just been in a happy place. It's good to hear.
- 4:56Speaker 1: It's incredible. My family, I've played it no less than
- 5:00Speaker 1: a billion times. It is a staple in our household.
- 5:04Speaker 1: My wife, Danielle, is very disappointed she's not here to
- 5:07Speaker 1: see you perform tonight. But there's more shows with you
- 5:09Speaker 1: on this tour. So we're so thrilled to have you
- 5:11Speaker 1: on this tour. For the listener out there. Jamie's going
- 5:15Speaker 1: to be coming out with us for a couple of spots.
- 5:16Speaker 1: We're really excited. And again, we've been fans and we're
- 5:21Speaker 1: excited to see you do your thing. And we've been
- 5:22Speaker 1: following you for a while. I mean, you placed third,
- 5:26Speaker 1: is that correct? In the UK, yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 2: The Voice. Yeah, I was like 19. And then after
- 5:31Speaker 2: that kind of life just took a spin, like Khloe
- 5:33Speaker 2: Kardashian found me randomly. I was in an iPad. I
- 5:36Speaker 2: was in a call center fixing iPads. And then Khloe
- 5:39Speaker 2: Kardashian found me and said that I was a new
- 5:41Speaker 2: favorite singer. And then I ended up getting an American
- 5:43Speaker 2: record deal. And then life kind of just changed back then.
- 5:47Speaker 2: But this is like the real moment where I'm like
- 5:48Speaker 2: actually seeing like life fully change.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So where do you live now?
- 5:52Speaker 2: I live in Los Angeles.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Okay. So you made the move.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Made the move.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Quit the call center.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Quit the call center. I was terrible at fixing iPads.
- 6:00Speaker 1: What are the tricks? We need to know.
- 6:01Speaker 2: There really wasn't any, to be honest. If there was
- 6:04Speaker 2: a prompter on the screen and the iPad was still
- 6:06Speaker 2: broke by the end of it, like I would just
- 6:07Speaker 2: hang up. so i ended up getting fired um yeah yeah.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Just like buy a new one yeah but it's so
- 6:14Speaker 3: interesting you said about singing sad music because i i
- 6:17Speaker 3: first came to know you by way of something popping
- 6:20Speaker 3: up in my my feed and i sent it to
- 6:22Speaker 3: uh we have a group chat of friends who you
- 6:25Speaker 3: know we call it the b flats which is basically
- 6:27Speaker 3: i'm out in the group chat name but it's all
- 6:29Speaker 3: like music centric stuff and like singer you know type
- 6:31Speaker 3: stuff and a lot of musical theater and things like
- 6:33Speaker 3: that but you're you're your video ended up on this
- 6:36Speaker 3: group chat and everyone's like, Oh yeah, we're all.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Over Jamie Miller. We don't, we know about him. Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Last of the party.
- 6:41Speaker 3: And then of course, you know, months later, baby doll
- 6:43Speaker 3: takes off and becomes what it is. Um, but it's
- 6:46Speaker 3: so interesting these moments in life where you're on one
- 6:48Speaker 3: path and you think, Oh, I know what's going to
- 6:51Speaker 3: work or, you know, succeed. I do finger quotes because
- 6:54Speaker 3: you know, you never know.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Um, and I feel like it's so great when you
- 6:57Speaker 3: have those breakthroughs personally and you've mentioned briefly that you're,
- 7:01Speaker 3: you're in a great spot. You're feeling at least some
- 7:03Speaker 3: sort of ray of sunshine that led you to write
- 7:06Speaker 3: this song. And I'm sure among others, but was it, uh, was,
- 7:10Speaker 3: was it collaborating with friends that, that allowed you to
- 7:13Speaker 3: kind of get to that place?
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I feel like for so long, like I was around
- 7:17Speaker 2: people who wanted me to be, if, if a pop
- 7:20Speaker 2: boy was working, they wanted me to be that pop boy. Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 2: And I think for so long, I went on tour
- 7:23Speaker 2: last year. I did this world tour and I felt
- 7:26Speaker 2: so disconnected to my music. Like, even though like, like
- 7:29Speaker 2: my fans at the time were like loving it, I
- 7:31Speaker 2: just felt so not me.
- 7:33Speaker 1: How so?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Just, I was, I made a folk album and like,
- 7:36Speaker 2: I feel like I grew up on like people like
- 7:38Speaker 2: Donny Hathaway and Aretha Franklin and like soul music.
- 7:41Speaker 1: You made a departure for.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And I, this, this album, I finally just made music
- 7:45Speaker 2: I wanted to make.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Fight a few people and just like had fun for
- 7:50Speaker 2: the first time.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And you're dancing.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Dude.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And I mean, it's great. It's amazing. We all know
- 7:55Speaker 1: the dance. I'm not a good dancer, but you look
- 7:58Speaker 1: smooth with it.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Was that, was that something that just kind of happened or,
- 8:01Speaker 3: or what was the.
- 8:03Speaker 1: The history behind this, this dance?
- 8:05Speaker 2: Well, I was like, if I'm not going to cut
- 8:07Speaker 2: through on my vocals, I have to add something to
- 8:08Speaker 2: the mix.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I think you cut through.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Not that.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah. I, um, I grew up dancing.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Really? Oh, cool.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I never, ever put it into my career. And I
- 8:17Speaker 2: was like, baby doll just made everybody happy when I,
- 8:20Speaker 2: when I started posting online and I was like, I
- 8:23Speaker 2: think I can make a dance to this that everybody
- 8:24Speaker 2: would want to get behind. Wow. And it just happened.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Do you do it on your live performance as well?
- 8:29Speaker 2: Maybe I'll have to wait and see.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Can't wait. While we were walking in, we just drove.
- 8:35Speaker 1: in from Boston. We started the tour yesterday. So this
- 8:37Speaker 1: is our second stop. Thank you. And we got to
- 8:40Speaker 1: hear you in soundcheck and you sound incredible.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Thanks man.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Sounds good in a big room. Was the cover that
- 8:45Speaker 1: we heard, was that going to be in the set
- 8:46Speaker 1: list or that's just for soundcheck?
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Nice. For those that will be in the audience tonight,
- 8:51Speaker 1: you're in for a great surprise. Sounded incredible.
- 8:53Speaker 2: But I do have to say, I've been a fan
- 8:55Speaker 2: of you guys for the longest time. So thank you
- 8:57Speaker 2: so much for having me. Oh man, that means a lot.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Thank you. You guys are just insane. This is such
- 9:02Speaker 2: a big deal for me.
- 9:04Speaker 1: We don't take it for granted. We honestly, after all
- 9:08Speaker 1: these years, we're still pinching ourselves that we get to
- 9:10Speaker 1: do this and bring people joy. You know, last night,
- 9:13Speaker 1: it's one of those things where it's like the weather outside,
- 9:16Speaker 1: there's a Northeaster storm going on. And so there's this,
- 9:20Speaker 1: but people still show up and they're still dressed up
- 9:22Speaker 1: and they're still excited for the concert. And that's what
- 9:25Speaker 1: we're like, all right, we could have like a bummer
- 9:27Speaker 1: of a day and like have to lock in. And
- 9:29Speaker 1: I'm sure you're hearing a lot of stories now. I'm
- 9:31Speaker 1: sure people messaging you that this song's bringing them joy.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I'm seeing, and also you're, you're teasing some new music. Yeah.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Some beautiful, emotional love songs.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And I'm already seeing montages, which is exactly what you want.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Is there stuff that you're seeing from your music that
- 9:45Speaker 1: you're like, oh, that just, that hits you?
- 9:48Speaker 2: Dude, just like the unifying people. I feel like the
- 9:51Speaker 2: joy that it's bringing people is such a special feeling.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Cause every, like I said, like all my music has
- 9:56Speaker 2: been really sad. So like now it's just like to see,
- 9:58Speaker 2: like I'm making a little inspiration. on the world in
- 10:00Speaker 2: a happy way it feels very special.
- 10:02Speaker 3: That's great you you've had quite a few people um
- 10:06Speaker 3: do the dance with you yes yeah i've seen most
- 10:09Speaker 3: of these if not all of them jennifer love hewitt
- 10:11Speaker 3: julian huff megan trainer lucy hale just mccartney.
- 10:14Speaker 1: The one with your dad is awesome. The one with
- 10:16Speaker 1: your dad might be my favorite. Yeah, I think that
- 10:18Speaker 1: might be my favorite. Do you have a dream baby
- 10:20Speaker 1: doll collaborator for your dance?
- 10:23Speaker 2: You guys. So just get practicing. Come on, baby.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I got it.
- 10:26Speaker 2: I got a few cool ones coming up.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I got the shoulders down.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Do you? Yeah, yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Can we get any exclusives? No. Okay. Keeping it close
- 10:33Speaker 1: to the waist. I like it.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Well, I'm excited.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Well, we're excited to see.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, dude.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You mentioned before that this is kind of your first
- 10:40Speaker 3: big arena show. New Hampshire has always been one of
- 10:43Speaker 3: our favorite places to play. You know, often these cities
- 10:46Speaker 3: that are just an hour or two outside of a
- 10:48Speaker 3: big city like Boston get overlooked. We always try to
- 10:51Speaker 3: stop in and see our friends here in New Hampshire
- 10:53Speaker 3: and other places.
- 10:54Speaker 1: And by the way, New Hampshire is having a moment.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys know that. It's always
- 10:57Speaker 1: been interesting. It is the chicken finger capital of the world.
- 11:01Speaker 1: We love. For real?
- 11:03Speaker 3: It really is. It's wild.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Kevin in the car was just asking if his daughter
- 11:06Speaker 1: would like some chicken fingers for after the show. Unintentionally. Unintentionally. Well,
- 11:10Speaker 1: we're getting chicken fingers.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Given that it's the chicken finger capital of the world.
- 11:13Speaker 3: What makes it the chicken finger capital of the world?
- 11:15Speaker 3: This is where they make the chicken fingers.
- 11:16Speaker 1: The best ones. They make all the chicken fingers? The
- 11:20Speaker 1: birthplace of chicken fingers is in Manchester. Okay. Well, we
- 11:24Speaker 1: need to get some chicken fingers. Do you eat meat? Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Then you got to try some chicken. Oh, I'm actually
- 11:29Speaker 1: curious because you said, you know, fellow vocalists here.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Before we were live, we were talking about, Nick was like,
- 11:37Speaker 1: did you check out the coffee station? And you mentioned...
- 11:40Speaker 1: i don't drink coffee you're like i hate coffee and
- 11:42Speaker 1: i'll never touch it no you said you don't drink
- 11:43Speaker 1: it before the show are there to protect your voice
- 11:46Speaker 1: because you have a fantastic voice what are what's the
- 11:48Speaker 1: what's the routine what's the regimen and your skincare because
- 11:51Speaker 1: you have great skin.
- 11:51Speaker 2: This is what's happening right now um i am i
- 11:55Speaker 2: actually have a cyst on my vocal cord so.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I have to be very really careful.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yeah but um i'm learning to live with it but.
- 12:02Speaker 1: For those of man okay so what does that what
- 12:05Speaker 1: does that entail for the For the warm voice up
- 12:07Speaker 1: of the show?
- 12:08Speaker 2: Like vocal warm ups and then drink a lot of
- 12:11Speaker 2: hot tea. I'm just trying to avoid surgery right now
- 12:14Speaker 2: and it's going back. But like when I speak, it's
- 12:17Speaker 2: just a little bit raspy.
- 12:19Speaker 1: It's good though. It's good for interviews. It sounds good.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I'll take it.
- 12:23Speaker 1: So Joe, you have a pretty extensive vocal warm ups,
- 12:26Speaker 1: about an hour, right? Oh, wow. I used to. You
- 12:30Speaker 1: used to do it. I used to just go for
- 12:33Speaker 1: it and not really think.
- 12:34Speaker 2: It was.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Quite unhealthy. It was like the DNC tour
- 12:38Speaker 1: days consisted of pretty much Jimmy and Coca-Cola and a
- 12:43Speaker 1: lot of chicken fingers and french fries, and then we
- 12:44Speaker 1: just go on stage. Whoa. And I think once I
- 12:48Speaker 1: got to 30, I was like, I don't know if
- 12:50Speaker 1: I'll be able to survive this. And a couple shows
- 12:52Speaker 1: that I had to cancel because my voice was just like,
- 12:54Speaker 1: why can't I sing today? And these guys sing for
- 12:57Speaker 1: over two and a half hours every night, so it's
- 12:59Speaker 1: a lot. Now it's like it starts, yeah, about an
- 13:02Speaker 1: hour out, I'm doing my... I have to give him
- 13:05Speaker 1: a shout out. Cause this guy's literally gotten me through
- 13:07Speaker 1: so many shows. Jacob's vocal Academy.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I do this one too.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So I do that one. And then I do the falsetto,
- 13:15Speaker 1: his falsetto exercise every day. And then yes, hot tea. And,
- 13:19Speaker 1: and you know, there's days where we'll wake up and
- 13:20Speaker 1: I'm like, Oh, this is going to be tough.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:23Speaker 1: But I, I'm always grateful that I have these guys
- 13:27Speaker 1: to lean on. And you know, when you're doing it
- 13:30Speaker 1: out there on your own, it's just a lot on you.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Do you have a, you have a, A good band?
- 13:34Speaker 2: Good band. But you guys, literally, you guys have the
- 13:37Speaker 2: best voices I've ever heard in my life.
- 13:39Speaker 1: That's not true.
- 13:40Speaker 2: It's very true.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I'm going to send you a couple of shows that
- 13:42Speaker 1: are better than us.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Nah, seriously, bro. You're incredible, man.
- 13:46Speaker 1: That's very kind of you. Have you ever seen us live?
- 13:48Speaker 2: I'm about to.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Okay, so you've never seen us live. No pressure.
- 13:51Speaker 3: We were saying in the car on the way here
- 13:52Speaker 3: that we should have one of these shows that you're
- 13:54Speaker 3: with us on. We should have you jump up and
- 13:55Speaker 3: do What A Man Gotta Do With Us. I feel
- 13:56Speaker 3: like your voice on that track would be a vibe.
- 13:59Speaker 2: I'm in.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Then we'll just re-release it after re-release it let's go
- 14:03Speaker 3: so my vocal warm ups well I am drinking coffee
- 14:05Speaker 3: I was off coffee for a minute it's been kind
- 14:07Speaker 3: of an ongoing thing but I'm now cutting it with
- 14:10Speaker 3: almond milk which is helping almond breeze to be in
- 14:12Speaker 3: fact breezy get breezy and I find that coffee doesn't
- 14:17Speaker 3: affect me so much singing but I have to start
- 14:19Speaker 3: singing in the shower in the morning and I just
- 14:21Speaker 3: kind of keep singing throughout.
- 14:22Speaker 2: The day do you guys lower your keys when you
- 14:24Speaker 2: go live.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Certain songs there's a couple that we have to I
- 14:28Speaker 3: mean some of the songs that We play in this set,
- 14:30Speaker 3: you know, my voice was still.
- 14:31Speaker 1: He was like 14 when he was recording.
- 14:34Speaker 3: So it's much more comfortable now than it was then
- 14:37Speaker 3: singing through a vocal change. You were 19 when you
- 14:39Speaker 3: did The Voice?
- 14:40Speaker 2: 19, yeah. Nothing really took off until like a few
- 14:43Speaker 2: years ago though.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Like kind of, not really.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Did you enjoy The Voice experience? It was a great experience.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I mean, it was like my first time singing like
- 14:50Speaker 2: in front of people. Like before I did The Voice,
- 14:52Speaker 2: I never even sang in front of my family.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Really?
- 14:54Speaker 2: Like I was just like a very like nervous kid.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Did they... obviously then you said, I'm going to go
- 14:59Speaker 1: on The Voice. And were they shocked?
- 15:01Speaker 2: I just wanted to leave the call center, dude.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Get out of that call center.
- 15:03Speaker 2: My mom, no offense, but like my mom, my mom
- 15:06Speaker 2: signed me up for it and then ended up coming third.
- 15:09Speaker 2: And then it was kind of just like the beginning
- 15:10Speaker 2: of everything. So I look back and like, and I smile.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Thanks mom. Yeah. Thanks mom. But she was, but just
- 15:16Speaker 2: like The Voice in general, it was like a amazing
- 15:18Speaker 2: stepping stone to the life I have right now. So
- 15:21Speaker 2: I always look back and smile.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yeah. That's so cool. That's great. Well, Joe's currently, you're coaching,
- 15:28Speaker 1: The coming season. Yeah. It's the voice celebrity.
- 15:31Speaker 2: What do you mean the voice celebrity?
- 15:33Speaker 1: It's celebrities singing instead of anyone singing.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Wow.
- 15:38Speaker 2: And you're one of the coaches?
- 15:40Speaker 1: I'm one of the coaches, yeah. You know, I wasn't sure,
- 15:44Speaker 1: and then the first person the chair turns for, I
- 15:46Speaker 1: was like, oh, my God. Like, the names they got
- 15:49Speaker 1: were really impressive. Wow. My team's kind of stacked, so
- 15:52Speaker 1: I'm excited for it.
- 15:53Speaker 3: What would be amazing is, because it's never happened, as
- 15:55Speaker 3: far as I know, at least in the U.K. and
- 15:57Speaker 3: the U.S., is that someone that was a contestant on
- 16:00Speaker 3: The Voice could then go on to be a coach.
- 16:02Speaker 3: And I'm wishing that for you. That would be, I
- 16:05Speaker 3: should see that.
- 16:05Speaker 2: I did The Voice, I.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Don't know, five or six years ago as a coach
- 16:08Speaker 1: for two seasons. It's a great experience. I think you'd
- 16:10Speaker 1: love it. And it would be so cool to see
- 16:11Speaker 1: the full circle.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Dude, you have high hopes for me. I appreciate it.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I do.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Listen, as we've mentioned now three or four times, we're
- 16:17Speaker 3: big fans, but we also, we're so excited that, you know,
- 16:21Speaker 3: you tapped into something that, you said the word unifies people,
- 16:25Speaker 3: and that's what we're all about. You know, we look
- 16:27Speaker 3: at our shows now and we think about the fact
- 16:28Speaker 3: that there's, you know, people that were our age coming
- 16:32Speaker 3: to shows back, you know, 18, 19 years ago who
- 16:35Speaker 3: still want to come and want to bring their kids.
- 16:37Speaker 3: And the parents who brought them back in the day
- 16:39Speaker 3: still want to come. There's nothing better than being able
- 16:41Speaker 3: to see people together having a shared experience that brings
- 16:44Speaker 3: them joy. And it's no surprise that the song connected
- 16:48Speaker 3: because it's a smash.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Thanks, dude.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I wish we had it. But, you know, the fact
- 16:52Speaker 3: that it's... pure in that your intention was to bring
- 16:55Speaker 3: people together.
- 16:56Speaker 1: It's a beautiful thing.
- 16:56Speaker 3: So we're rooting for you and we're glad you're on
- 16:58Speaker 3: these shows and hopefully more to come.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Hell yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 2: And by the way, Listen When Sad is going to
- 17:03Speaker 2: be like my Spotify top. Oh. 100%. Thanks, man.
- 17:06Speaker 1: It's my favorite song. And Jacob Vocal Warm Up Academy. Listen,
- 17:11Speaker 1: you have to go on stage here pretty soon. Yeah,
- 17:12Speaker 1: we're going to let you go. But before he goes,
- 17:14Speaker 1: before he goes, Nick, there's a little something next to you.
- 17:16Speaker 2: The bowl.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Oh, the bowl.
- 17:17Speaker 2: The bowl.
- 17:17Speaker 1: How could I forget the bowl? Yeah.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I go in?
- 17:19Speaker 1: If you'd like to, it's a random question. It doesn't
- 17:21Speaker 1: bite too hard.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Which is worse? Stepping in something wet with socks on
- 17:25Speaker 2: or getting a sleeve wet while washing your hands.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Or getting what? Getting your sleeve wet.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Sleeve wet while washing your hands. I would say stepping
- 17:33Speaker 2: in something wet with socks on.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It happened to me at lunch before. Takes longer to dry.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of an ick.
- 17:39Speaker 3: It's just because then you can't really get away from it.
- 17:41Speaker 3: You can push your sleeve up. You can't push your
- 17:43Speaker 3: sock up. Yeah, 100%.
- 17:44Speaker 1: And you just take them off and your sock lifts.
- 17:46Speaker 1: If I've said it once. Then it's just an ankle warmer.
- 17:51Speaker 3: All right.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us. Have a great show.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Looking forward to seeing your set.
- 17:54Speaker 1: We will be watching. We cannot wait.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Thank you.
