- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: Amy Torber and coming up on today's show, Olivia Rogers
- 0:13Speaker 1: reveals shocking revelations about her marriage. Andre Ribello is sentenced
- 0:18Speaker 1: to life in prison. Sarah's Day's quest for the ultimate
- 0:22Speaker 1: yummy mummy car continues and our Friday debrief. But first,
- 0:26Speaker 1: it appears that Attis Paul is an outspoken listener. Oh
- 0:30Speaker 1: my God, my stomach absolutely dropped when we got a
- 0:32Speaker 1: DM from a follower who said, Attis Paul has mentioned
- 0:35Speaker 1: you in his statement. And there were a lot of
- 0:38Speaker 1: slides to get through in this statement. Oh, I was
- 0:40Speaker 1: flicking through. I'm like, oh my God, what did he say?
- 0:43Speaker 1: On the 13th slide of his Instagram statement, he was
- 0:47Speaker 1: claiming that Michaela was doing stuff without the family's knowledge.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And he wrote, Or recently, when the Outspoken podcast talked
- 0:54Speaker 1: about how she personally threatened to sue them when they
- 0:57Speaker 1: covered the topic. Something else we learned after she had
- 1:00Speaker 1: done it. Now, we are absolutely raring to talk about this,
- 1:03Speaker 1: but we are going to have some self-control and do
- 1:05Speaker 1: it on Tuesday because everything is still coming out. There's
- 1:08Speaker 1: so much back and forth going on and we want
- 1:10Speaker 1: to have time to cover it properly. I loved how
- 1:13Speaker 1: many people were saying on TikTok, that they couldn't sleep
- 1:16Speaker 1: because there were just new videos coming out every minute. Oh, well,
- 1:19Speaker 1: we were at family dinner when it first broke and
- 1:21Speaker 1: our dad had no idea what was going on. We're
- 1:24Speaker 1: all huddled around the phone listening to Annapol's statement. I
- 1:27Speaker 1: saw it on TikTok and it was like, spare a
- 1:29Speaker 1: thought for all the boyfriends right now that are lying
- 1:31Speaker 1: in bed next to their girlfriend listening to this 26-minute video. Well,
- 1:34Speaker 1: I was about to hop into bed at around 10
- 1:36Speaker 1: to 12 and then Michaela Testa uploaded her video and
- 1:39Speaker 1: I saw it said part one and I was like, no,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I need to go to bed. What's self-control? Andre Ribello
- 1:45Speaker 1: has been sentenced to life in prison after being found
- 1:48Speaker 1: guilty of murdering his mother for her life insurance. The
- 1:52Speaker 1: 29-year-old will spend at least 25 years in prison after
- 1:55Speaker 1: a jury found him guilty following an eight-week trial. Now,
- 1:59Speaker 1: the reason we have covered this story in depth is
- 2:02Speaker 1: because Andre is the former boyfriend of Perth influencer Gracie Piscopo,
- 2:07Speaker 1: and the couple were in a relationship at the time
- 2:09Speaker 1: of his arrest, and they share a son together. So
- 2:12Speaker 1: as a quick summary, Ribello killed his 58-year-old mother, Colleen,
- 2:16Speaker 1: in her home in 2020 after taking out three life
- 2:19Speaker 1: insurance policies in her name and forging her will. Even
- 2:23Speaker 1: though we've discussed this in so much detail, when I
- 2:25Speaker 1: saw the sentence handed down, I think the gravity of
- 2:28Speaker 1: this case really hit me to think that somebody would
- 2:31Speaker 1: kill their own mother for money. It's really disturbing. I mean,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I was pleasantly surprised to see that he got life
- 2:37Speaker 1: in prison because there's been a few instances where people
- 2:40Speaker 1: have not got correct sentences. I think this is correct. Well,
- 2:43Speaker 1: in the sentencing hearing, Supreme Court Justice Bruno Finanski said,
- 2:47Speaker 1: you killed her for financial motive. It was a premeditated offence,
- 2:52Speaker 1: a monstrous act that was integral to a fraudulent scheme,
- 2:55Speaker 1: which you intended to profit from life insurance policies taken
- 2:58Speaker 1: out by you. It was an incomprehensible betrayal of the
- 3:02Speaker 1: person who brought you into this world, a devoted mother
- 3:05Speaker 1: to her children and devoted grandmother to her only grandchild.
- 3:09Speaker 1: They're very strong words there. Oh, I got shivers when
- 3:11Speaker 1: you were reading it out. And I think it's because, unfortunately,
- 3:14Speaker 1: because Andre is connected to Gracie Piscopo, this whole case
- 3:18Speaker 1: had a bit of a glamorous aura about it. It
- 3:21Speaker 1: was like, oh, my gosh, this influencer's boyfriend who's a killer.
- 3:25Speaker 1: We're actually forgetting that this was a real woman. It
- 3:28Speaker 1: was his mother. I mean, it's just incomprehensible. I think
- 3:32Speaker 1: another big distraction as well was this focus on influencers'
- 3:35Speaker 1: lives not being as real as they portray online because
- 3:38Speaker 1: there was a lot of focus on Andre and Gracie's financials. Yeah,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I mean, as we mentioned before, despite presenting this very
- 3:46Speaker 1: glamorous lifestyle online, it appears in 2020, like a lot
- 3:49Speaker 1: of people, they were financially struggling with the pandemic. And
- 3:53Speaker 1: I think that's why I was quite shocked to see
- 3:55Speaker 1: the way Gracie Piscopo actually responded to this news. So
- 3:58Speaker 1: a day after the sentencing, she shared a reel and
- 4:01Speaker 1: the caption said healing and moving on. Alongside those sentiments
- 4:05Speaker 1: was a video montage of her life over the last
- 4:07Speaker 1: couple of months. And the clips were mostly happy moments
- 4:10Speaker 1: with her and her six-year-old son, who she shares with Rebello,
- 4:13Speaker 1: alongside a vision of her with her new boyfriend. And
- 4:16Speaker 1: the three of them had been holidaying in Bali. And
- 4:19Speaker 1: all of the vision was really aesthetically pleasing. It was
- 4:21Speaker 1: them in this paradise enjoying this holiday. And in the
- 4:25Speaker 1: middle of it, there was vision of her crying. But
- 4:29Speaker 1: to me, I was just shocked that after all of
- 4:31Speaker 1: these accusations have been made against Ribello and how he
- 4:35Speaker 1: killed his mother to get this life insurance so he
- 4:37Speaker 1: could continue to finance this lavish lifestyle, that that's how
- 4:41Speaker 1: you would choose to respond following his sentencing. It is
- 4:44Speaker 1: a bit odd, but I do feel for Gracie because
- 4:46Speaker 1: she has copped it during this court case. Like she's
- 4:49Speaker 1: not on trial for anything, but her face has been
- 4:52Speaker 1: splashed everywhere over the media. There's been a lot of
- 4:55Speaker 1: discussion about her online as well. So I think she
- 4:57Speaker 1: has had a rough time, but I personally would have
- 5:00Speaker 1: shared maybe something about Andre's mother. I mean, they were
- 5:03Speaker 1: obviously close. It seems a bit odd to share, as
- 5:06Speaker 1: you said, such a glamorous reel. Yeah. Well, the reel
- 5:09Speaker 1: had a backing song, which was this. It was a
- 5:21Speaker 1: really odd song choice because at first I was like,
- 5:23Speaker 1: is this dedicated to Andre? But then when her new
- 5:27Speaker 1: boyfriend featured, I was like, oh, okay, it's about her
- 5:30Speaker 1: son saying that she is still happy that she had
- 5:33Speaker 1: her son with him and she's where she's meant to
- 5:35Speaker 1: be now in this new relationship. I also think it
- 5:38Speaker 1: was clear from this video that she is really trying
- 5:40Speaker 1: to distance herself from Andre. She has amped up the
- 5:43Speaker 1: PDA with her new boyfriend online. Well, it would be
- 5:46Speaker 1: very difficult for her knowing that her son is one
- 5:48Speaker 1: day going to grow up and realise what his father did. Yeah,
- 5:51Speaker 1: and I mean, as we mentioned in the intro, he
- 5:54Speaker 1: is going to have a minimum of 25 years in jail.
- 5:57Speaker 1: So by the time he is eligible for parole, he'll
- 6:00Speaker 1: be in his 50s. I already own a Range Rover Sport,
- 6:04Speaker 1: but it's a five seater. And now that I have
- 6:06Speaker 1: three boys, I need a bigger car. Sarah's day's quest
- 6:09Speaker 1: for the ultimate yummy mummy car has continued. The self-confessed
- 6:13Speaker 1: holistic health princess left her followers waiting six weeks for
- 6:17Speaker 1: the second installment. But Kate, it didn't disappoint. Yeah, this
- 6:20Speaker 1: time around, Sarah and her husband, Kurt Tills, reviewed a
- 6:23Speaker 1: seven-seater Range Rover. And Sarah currently owns a five-seater sports
- 6:28Speaker 1: version of the car, but is looking for a bigger
- 6:30Speaker 1: one now that she has three kids. Back in February,
- 6:34Speaker 1: when Sarah launched this series on her social media channel,
- 6:36Speaker 1: she had to put out a disclaimer prior to the
- 6:39Speaker 1: video launching. reassuring her followers that she's not out of touch,
- 6:43Speaker 1: but she would only be reviewing luxury family cars. And
- 6:46Speaker 1: the first car she ended up reviewing was the Lexus GX550,
- 6:50Speaker 1: which costs around $ 130, 000. And at the time she insisted
- 6:55Speaker 1: the video was not sponsored, but she was purely sharing
- 6:58Speaker 1: the review because her followers asked for it. And this
- 7:00Speaker 1: was all a little bit fishy considering that Sarah's husband
- 7:03Speaker 1: Kurt worked for Lexus last year. So he shot a
- 7:05Speaker 1: campaign for the car brand as well as shooting content
- 7:08Speaker 1: for Lexus' Melbourne Cup function in November 2023. What did
- 7:12Speaker 1: you think about the new review? Because I personally thought
- 7:15Speaker 1: it wasn't as painful as the first one. Yeah, and
- 7:17Speaker 1: I think the difference was that she seems genuinely interested
- 7:20Speaker 1: in actually purchasing this car. So they seem to be
- 7:23Speaker 1: quite impressed with the features rather than turning their nose
- 7:27Speaker 1: up at the subpar luxury features of the Lexus. Well,
- 7:30Speaker 1: they both seem genuinely excited about some of the features
- 7:33Speaker 1: of this car. There was a mini fridge. There was
- 7:36Speaker 1: also TVs on the back of the seats. I mean,
- 7:38Speaker 1: I want this car. And to be fair, it was
- 7:40Speaker 1: a lot better than the Lexus GX, but that might
- 7:43Speaker 1: be because it cost nearly double the amount. So I
- 7:45Speaker 1: could not believe it when Sarah said that the car
- 7:48Speaker 1: costs around $ 350, 000. That is ridiculous. And I could tell
- 7:54Speaker 1: by Kurt's reaction that, you know, they actually want this car.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Let's hear what they said. car is around 350k very
- 8:02Speaker 1: different to part one the car i first.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Reviewed it's exceptional though it is.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Gorgeous it's like having the space of a van without
- 8:10Speaker 1: having a van i mean goodness forbid that they consider
- 8:14Speaker 1: a van i did see someone say that they want
- 8:16Speaker 1: sarah to review the kia carnival just for shit and
- 8:18Speaker 1: giggles following her less than favorable remarks about it i'd
- 8:21Speaker 1: love to see that as well I just think it's
- 8:23Speaker 1: so ridiculous with cars. Like what actually makes that car
- 8:27Speaker 1: worth $ 350, 000? Like if you actually look at all of
- 8:30Speaker 1: the specs, I mean, what, a couple of TVs on
- 8:33Speaker 1: the back of the seat that you could live without? Yeah. Well,
- 8:35Speaker 1: as soon as Sarah mentioned the price, I knew there
- 8:36Speaker 1: was going to be a lot of backlash. So one
- 8:39Speaker 1: person wrote, absolutely stunning car. I did gasp out loud
- 8:42Speaker 1: and almost lost my lunch when you mentioned the price tag.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I knew it was going to be dollars, but not
- 8:46Speaker 1: that expensive. And another person added, it makes me feel broke. Yeah. Well,
- 8:50Speaker 1: there was one comment that caught Sarah's eye and it read,
- 8:53Speaker 1: I can't imagine spending that much money on a depreciating
- 8:56Speaker 1: asset like a car. Now, Sarah was quick to respond, writing,
- 8:59Speaker 1: I'm not that kind of person that buys a car
- 9:01Speaker 1: with an investment mindset. She then went on to say,
- 9:04Speaker 1: it's also a shame when I've been vlogging when I
- 9:06Speaker 1: had $ 200 in my bank account, lived at my parents'
- 9:09Speaker 1: house and was at uni wondering what I was going
- 9:11Speaker 1: to do with my life. As soon as someone creates
- 9:14Speaker 1: success for themselves, a handful of people won't clap and say, congratulations,
- 9:18Speaker 1: You did it. This handful will scream, boo, and state,
- 9:21Speaker 1: I'm unrelatable. It's okay if not every piece of content
- 9:24Speaker 1: relates to you or is targeted at you. This would
- 9:27Speaker 1: make the internet an extraordinarily boring place. Now, someone else
- 9:31Speaker 1: chimed in saying, not relatable content for most people. That's 17.5%
- 9:34Speaker 1: of what your house is worth. And Sarah responded, unfortunately, Renee,
- 9:39Speaker 1: you can't please the masses on the internet. If I
- 9:41Speaker 1: was to test drive another car that perhaps weren't similar
- 9:44Speaker 1: to my current car's, Others may comment that my video
- 9:47Speaker 1: isn't honest or authentic, as they know what car I'm
- 9:49Speaker 1: most likely to be looking at buying. I understand this
- 9:52Speaker 1: car isn't an option for everyone, but I'm just documenting
- 9:55Speaker 1: me test driving a bunch. It's not really that deep,
- 9:57Speaker 1: and if it offends you, then swipe off. I love it.
- 9:50Speaker 1: It's like, no one would believe it if I actually
- 9:51Speaker 1: reviewed a Kia Carnival because... I'm much more wealthier and
- 10:07Speaker 1: I would have a luxury car. Look, I'm not naive.
- 10:09Speaker 1: We all know Sarah's day is very wealthy, but it
- 10:12Speaker 1: even surprised me that she might drop $ 350, 000 on a car.
- 10:16Speaker 1: And I think the comment was quite fair, which mentioned
- 10:19Speaker 1: that this person wouldn't spend that much money on a
- 10:21Speaker 1: depreciating asset like a car. She's so triggered by it.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It's like, this is the internet in 2025. You put
- 10:28Speaker 1: a piece of content out there and people are going
- 10:30Speaker 1: to have an opinion on it. Just don't read the comments.
- 10:32Speaker 1: We spoke about the reaction to Georgie Stevenson promoting her
- 10:36Speaker 1: own wealth last week. Do you think that people are
- 10:39Speaker 1: attacking Sarah because it doesn't really fit into her own
- 10:41Speaker 1: branding to buy a car like this? Yeah, we spoke
- 10:44Speaker 1: in depth about how Georgie Stevenson's personal brand aligns perfectly
- 10:48Speaker 1: with her business brands because not only does she have
- 10:51Speaker 1: a wellness company, but she also has a business that
- 10:53Speaker 1: promotes manifestation courses and goal setting. So it makes sense
- 10:57Speaker 1: for her to say, I set this goal and achieve this.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Whereas with Sarah's day, her brand is a little bit
- 11:03Speaker 1: all over the place in terms of she started out
- 11:05Speaker 1: as a fitness influencer and then she has really turned
- 11:08Speaker 1: into this mummy vlogging and wanting to be relatable. And
- 11:11Speaker 1: then she keeps saying it's like her yummy mummy car
- 11:14Speaker 1: or whatever the inference is. And most mums wouldn't have
- 11:17Speaker 1: $ 350, 000 just to spend on a car. Yeah, because she's
- 11:20Speaker 1: probably picked up a lot of followers recently because she's
- 11:22Speaker 1: been sharing in a very raw manner about the issues
- 11:25Speaker 1: she's been having with her son's sleep and how he's
- 11:27Speaker 1: got reflux. And then they're probably like.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Hang on.
- 11:30Speaker 1: What? You can afford a $ 350, 000 car. You're not one
- 11:33Speaker 1: of us.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Well, there were some followers that jumped to Sarah's defense.
- 11:37Speaker 1: So one wrote, why do people get so triggered about
- 11:40Speaker 1: how much someone else is willing to spend on a car? Damn.
- 11:43Speaker 1: And Sarah replied, in Australia, we have this thing called
- 11:46Speaker 1: tall poppy syndrome, and it is so real, particularly if
- 11:49Speaker 1: you're female that has built success from the ground up.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I mean, there is a lot of truth to what
- 11:54Speaker 1: Sarah is saying. She has got a point there. Now,
- 11:58Speaker 1: despite the negative commentary, this series is a real win
- 12:01Speaker 1: for Sarah's channel. So at the time of recording, the
- 12:03Speaker 1: video has over a million views on Instagram and great engagement.
- 12:07Speaker 1: There's been heaps of likes, particularly a lot of send-ons.
- 12:11Speaker 1: There's over 2,000 send-ons. That doesn't surprise me because everyone
- 12:15Speaker 1: would be going, oh, fuck off.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Continuing on the honesty train that I'm.
- 12:21Speaker 1: On, Olivia Rogers has revealed just how close she came
- 12:26Speaker 1: to calling off her wedding with Justin McKeon. In an
- 12:29Speaker 1: Instagram Q & A, the former Miss Universe contestant shared
- 12:32Speaker 1: some shocking revelations about what led to her marriage breakdown.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Olivia's update comes as her ex-husband faces charges of stealing
- 12:40Speaker 1: almost half a million dollars from from his former employer
- 12:43Speaker 1: to allegedly fund a very serious drug habit. Now, Kate,
- 12:47Speaker 1: before we get into what Olivia had to say, can
- 12:49Speaker 1: you bring us up to speed with this relationship? Yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 1: so the pair met in 2018 and they dated for
- 12:54Speaker 1: four years before getting married in February 2022. Now, the
- 12:58Speaker 1: wedding looked absolutely picture perfect, like a Pinterest board. So
- 13:02Speaker 1: fans were absolutely shocked when Olivia announced the split eight
- 13:05Speaker 1: months later. Since then, Olivia has been pretty vague about
- 13:09Speaker 1: what caused the breakup. She did do a couple of
- 13:11Speaker 1: podcast interviews where she admitted to being miserable in the
- 13:15Speaker 1: relationship and said that there were a lot of big issues. However,
- 13:18Speaker 1: she never went into details about what those problems were
- 13:21Speaker 1: out of respect for Justin. One thing she did open
- 13:24Speaker 1: up about was her IVF journey with Justin. So that
- 13:27Speaker 1: journey ended up being the breaking point for their marriage
- 13:29Speaker 1: when she realized the thought of falling pregnant to him
- 13:32Speaker 1: terrified her. Well, on Tuesday night, Olivia invited fans to
- 13:36Speaker 1: ask her questions. And as expected, she received an influx
- 13:39Speaker 1: of questions about her marriage breakdown. However, rather than ignoring them,
- 13:44Speaker 1: like usual, she actually decided to speak her truth in
- 13:46Speaker 1: a bid to help others. Olivia wrote, my boundaries weren't
- 13:50Speaker 1: being respected. There were patterns of behavior I didn't agree with,
- 13:53Speaker 1: and I had to come to realize our values were
- 13:55Speaker 1: not aligned. Something significant happened in the relationship a couple
- 13:59Speaker 1: of days before the wedding that was very upsetting for me.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I considered calling it off, but I felt like I
- 14:05Speaker 1: had too much to lose. not just for myself, but
- 14:07Speaker 1: I worried about how it would impact all of my
- 14:09Speaker 1: family and friends who had flown interstate to be there
- 14:13Speaker 1: on the day, the money they would lose, et cetera.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I'm also an optimist and I hope that things would improve.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Wouldn't you like to know what actually happened? Like it's
- 14:22Speaker 1: crazy to think because I was following Olivia and Justin
- 14:25Speaker 1: pretty closely at this time. I remember her hen's party.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I remember the beautiful dress she wore. You actually bought
- 14:30Speaker 1: me a similar bride light up headband to her. Like
- 14:33Speaker 1: she was absolute bride inspo. Everyone was pinning her wedding.
- 14:36Speaker 1: She had the beautiful hydrangeas. She had the two dresses.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Everything looked perfect. And to think that she'd been crying
- 14:43Speaker 1: herself to sleep the night before the wedding and this
- 14:46Speaker 1: big incident occurred just days before, it blows my mind.
- 14:49Speaker 1: It really does. And after going through the stress of
- 14:52Speaker 1: having a wedding, before I would have said, oh, would
- 14:54Speaker 1: you just call it off? But there is a lot
- 14:56Speaker 1: of pressure on you, especially because A lot of Justin's
- 14:59Speaker 1: family were from Perth. Yeah. Well, her family were from
- 15:02Speaker 1: Adelaide too because they held it in Melbourne. Yeah, he
- 15:03Speaker 1: would feel so embarrassed and there'd be so much stress
- 15:06Speaker 1: leading into the day that she might have been thinking, well,
- 15:09Speaker 1: maybe once we get married, things will be better. And
- 15:11Speaker 1: the only person that she confided in leading into this
- 15:14Speaker 1: wedding was her mum. She said that her mum was
- 15:16Speaker 1: actually quite supportive if she wanted to call the wedding off.
- 15:19Speaker 1: And she didn't even tell her bridesmaids because she didn't
- 15:22Speaker 1: want them feeling uneasy on the day. And Olivia has
- 15:24Speaker 1: gone on to say that this was a big red flag.
- 15:26Speaker 1: So if you're not willing to tell people that you're
- 15:28Speaker 1: close to what's actually going on. Well, it would be
- 15:30Speaker 1: really embarrassing. I can see why she would have wanted
- 15:32Speaker 1: to save face. I mean, her maid of honour is
- 15:35Speaker 1: meant to be going up there and talking about their
- 15:36Speaker 1: love story. And if she's got it in the back
- 15:38Speaker 1: of her head or Justin's been a complete dickhead, it's
- 15:41Speaker 1: hardly going to go down well.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And after sharing the answer to this question, Olivia jumped
- 15:45Speaker 1: on her stories to add this.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I'm feeling really vulnerable after sharing that response that I
- 15:51Speaker 2: just shared.
- 15:53Speaker 1: My hands are shaking. My heart is racing.
- 15:56Speaker 2: I've never answered a question. I've never answered. those questions
- 16:02Speaker 2: like that before. So yeah, I feel vulnerable and I'm
- 16:05Speaker 2: really tempted to delete it, but I'm not going to
- 16:08Speaker 2: do that.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Now, the day after Olivia shared this Q & A,
- 16:13Speaker 1: she uploaded a TikTok where she shared five red flags
- 16:16Speaker 1: to look out for in a relationship. And she said this.
- 16:19Speaker 2: I think it's so hard to know when to get
- 16:22Speaker 2: out of a relationship. And I've wondered so many times
- 16:24Speaker 2: over the last few years, if maybe I'd seen more
- 16:27Speaker 2: content of people sharing red flags in relationships and why
- 16:31Speaker 2: they got out of relationships that I might have paid
- 16:34Speaker 2: attention to it and called off my wedding before getting
- 16:37Speaker 2: married to the wrong person.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Let's go through some of these red flags that Olivia shared.
- 16:42Speaker 1: So the first was if you feel more uncertain about
- 16:45Speaker 1: the relationship and you spend more time questioning it than
- 16:47Speaker 1: you do feeling content. That's a big one.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 1: The second was when you think about the future with
- 16:52Speaker 1: that person, You feel more uncertainty and you feel unsure
- 16:56Speaker 1: about it rather than feeling excited. I mean, what's disturbing
- 16:59Speaker 1: is all of the stuff that's come out about Justin recently.
- 17:02Speaker 1: You can see why these red flags were popping up. Yeah.
- 17:06Speaker 1: The next one was you don't feel like you can
- 17:08Speaker 1: communicate properly and you don't feel seen or heard when
- 17:11Speaker 1: you try to communicate with them. Number four, you feel
- 17:14Speaker 1: happier when you're away from that person and you feel
- 17:16Speaker 1: like you can be yourself. I actually resonate with that
- 17:19Speaker 1: one from a past relationship. Well, number five was if
- 17:21Speaker 1: they cross your boundaries multiple times and their behaviors do
- 17:25Speaker 1: not change. I find the timing of these revelations very
- 17:29Speaker 1: interesting because as we mentioned in the intro, Justin McKeon
- 17:32Speaker 1: is facing some very serious theft allegations. So in November,
- 17:36Speaker 1: the Herald Sun broke the news that Justin had been
- 17:38Speaker 1: accused of stealing almost half a million dollars from his employer,
- 17:42Speaker 1: Rocket Brands. So he worked as the company's head of
- 17:45Speaker 1: finance for five months before getting sacked. And it's alleged
- 17:48Speaker 1: that he spent the money on drugs, alcohol and gambling.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And one of the allegations that got a lot of
- 17:53Speaker 1: people talking was that he was apparently sleeping in the
- 17:56Speaker 1: work toilets for up to four hours a day. He
- 17:59Speaker 1: was also accused of taking excessively long lunch breaks and
- 18:02Speaker 1: frequently leaving the office without completing his duties. This was
- 18:06Speaker 1: all whilst he was getting paid $ 200, 000 a year. That'd
- 18:10Speaker 1: be quite nice getting to have a little nap in
- 18:11Speaker 1: the toilet so we're getting paid $ 200, 000. Now in October
- 18:14Speaker 1: his boss reported the alleged theft to Victoria Police which
- 18:17Speaker 1: sparked a criminal investigation. Justin was interviewed by detectives in
- 18:21Speaker 1: early November but criminal charges have yet to be laid
- 18:24Speaker 1: while the investigation continues. Well this is going to get
- 18:26Speaker 1: really messy if there are criminal charges laid because This
- 18:30Speaker 1: is when things start to get more serious and jail
- 18:33Speaker 1: time could actually be an option if he was found guilty. Yeah, well,
- 18:35Speaker 1: he doesn't appear to be taking it very seriously because
- 18:37Speaker 1: he has now failed to appear in court twice. And
- 18:40Speaker 1: it's believed that the court is set to take his
- 18:42Speaker 1: failure to engage... with the hearing as an acceptance of guilt. Well,
- 18:47Speaker 1: that's the thing. He hasn't made any public comments about it.
- 18:49Speaker 1: He hasn't denied it. Well, he's gone offline. So he
- 18:52Speaker 1: deleted his Instagram account. Didn't he make a new one
- 18:55Speaker 1: though that didn't have any followers? Yeah. Well, he ended
- 18:57Speaker 1: up reappearing back on Instagram to coincide with his girlfriend,
- 19:01Speaker 1: Tani Leeson's pregnancy announcement. So he is expecting a child soon. And-
- 19:06Speaker 1: It's all getting very messy. I can understand why Olivia
- 19:09Speaker 1: has come out and shared these details because she has
- 19:12Speaker 1: been front and center of this coverage when the news broke.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I mean, I really felt for her because her photos
- 19:17Speaker 1: were splashed everywhere in the news articles about this. She
- 19:20Speaker 1: was constantly referenced as his ex-wife. And I think by
- 19:24Speaker 1: Olivia coming out and condemning Justin's behavior... it really absolves
- 19:28Speaker 1: her of guilt by association. Yeah. And of course, I mean,
- 19:30Speaker 1: she has nothing to do with this theft.
- 19:32Speaker 2: No.
- 19:33Speaker 1: She had been broken up with him for several years,
- 19:36Speaker 1: but his behavior really is in stark contrast to the
- 19:39Speaker 1: good girl image that she has cultivated for herself online.
- 19:42Speaker 1: So I think it's a good PR move for Olivia
- 19:44Speaker 1: to come out, condemn his behavior and continue to distance
- 19:48Speaker 1: herself from him. Yeah. think she must feel safer to
- 19:51Speaker 1: come out and talk about Justin after all of these
- 19:54Speaker 1: allegations we've recently heard because a lot of people are thinking, well,
- 19:58Speaker 1: he's clearly been the issue in that relationship. Yeah. It's
- 20:01Speaker 1: no longer all on her because there was a time
- 20:04Speaker 1: where it was like, oh, what's wrong with her? Because
- 20:07Speaker 1: her marriage didn't last for very long. Let's get into
- 20:10Speaker 1: our Friday debrief and I'm going to kick us off
- 20:12Speaker 1: with a bit of a story time. So currently we
- 20:16Speaker 1: are undergoing some roof renovations at my house. We had
- 20:19Speaker 1: a leak and we got a guy in to try
- 20:21Speaker 1: and fix it. He went a little bit MIA and
- 20:24Speaker 1: then suddenly one day I just looked out the window
- 20:27Speaker 1: and he was climbing on my roof fixing it. So
- 20:30Speaker 1: he didn't knock on the door. He didn't advise Rhys
- 20:33Speaker 1: that he was coming over. That's kind of scary just
- 20:35Speaker 1: to see something random on your roof. Well, I was
- 20:37Speaker 1: feeding Jack breakfast and I just hear this man on
- 20:39Speaker 1: the roof and I'm like, Santa Claus? Yeah. I'm pretty
- 20:42Speaker 1: sure he's fixing it. Anyway, ended up going out the front,
- 20:46Speaker 1: had a great chat to him. He's a lovely guy.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Fast forward two weeks. The other day I was sitting
- 20:51Speaker 1: on the couch and out of the corner of my eye,
- 20:53Speaker 1: this man is, again, trudging up into our front yard.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Doesn't come over, doesn't wave to me, nothing. He's holding
- 20:59Speaker 1: a bucket. And then I hear him going up on
- 21:01Speaker 1: the roof again. I was like, oh, okay, whatever. I'll
- 21:03Speaker 1: just let him do what he needs to do. I
- 21:06Speaker 1: thought he had fixed the issue, but obviously have come back.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Then all of a sudden I hear this massive crash
- 21:12Speaker 1: and I see the ladder fall down. I'm like, oh
- 21:14Speaker 1: my God, the poor thing is like trapped on the roof.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I better go out there and give him the ladder back. Anyway,
- 21:19Speaker 1: turns out that he's also fallen off the roof. There's
- 21:23Speaker 1: blood everywhere. He's just spurting out of his leg. I'm like,
- 21:27Speaker 1: are you okay? And he's like, yeah, I'm fine. And
- 21:30Speaker 1: he's Scottish. He's got the best accent. And I'm like,
- 21:32Speaker 1: are you sure? And I think he was trying to
- 21:34Speaker 1: be really tough. He's like, oh, I'll go clear myself up.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I've got some bandages in the car. I feel like
- 21:38Speaker 1: that's such a man thing, isn't it? Just, oh no,
- 21:40Speaker 1: I'm fine. I'm just like taking a huge tumble off
- 21:42Speaker 1: the roof, but she'll be right. Anyway, I raced up
- 21:44Speaker 1: the driveway, tried to find some bandages. I came down,
- 21:47Speaker 1: he's like, are you a nurse? I'm like, no, no,
- 21:48Speaker 1: I just care. I'm like, did you hit your head? Anyway,
- 21:50Speaker 1: he's like, no, I'm all good. I'll go back up
- 21:53Speaker 1: there and finish what I'm doing. And I'm like, oh
- 21:54Speaker 1: my God. Anyway, he went back up on the roof
- 21:57Speaker 1: and then just left. See, this is somebody I want
- 22:00Speaker 1: to employ to put up my Christmas lights because- This
- 22:03Speaker 1: can do attitude. He's nearly killed himself falling off your roof,
- 22:06Speaker 1: but he's ready to get the job done. Well, I've
- 22:08Speaker 1: got two Friday shares for you. One is that I'm
- 22:11Speaker 1: just getting to a point in pregnancy where I'm actually
- 22:14Speaker 1: too embarrassed to leave the house because the comments have
- 22:17Speaker 1: now started. So I had to go in to sort
- 22:19Speaker 1: out my parental leave pay, my government parental leave pay.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Had to go into Centrelink, which was just delightful. And
- 22:26Speaker 1: I sat down waiting for my meeting and another man,
- 22:30Speaker 1: like I was on my phone.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I was, you know.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Which is a sign, don't talk to me. Yeah, which
- 22:34Speaker 1: is a sign, please don't talk to me. So there
- 22:35Speaker 1: was a man that was sitting across from me in
- 22:37Speaker 1: his 40s and he had taken a phone call. And
- 22:40Speaker 1: after he got off the phone, he looked over at
- 22:42Speaker 1: me and he said, geez, your tummy's big. How far
- 22:47Speaker 1: off are you? Oh, just what you want to hear.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I just was like, no, I haven't been far. self-conscious
- 22:52Speaker 1: about waddling around today at all that's just made me
- 22:55Speaker 1: feel so good about myself anyway so for some reason
- 22:59Speaker 1: I then got stuck in this like 15 minute conversation
- 23:02Speaker 1: where he told me all about his life his two
- 23:04Speaker 1: children I was like I'm just trying to sit on
- 23:07Speaker 1: my phone and disassociate like please leave me alone so
- 23:11Speaker 1: yes the commentary is getting so bad that I'm thinking
- 23:13Speaker 1: for the next couple of weeks I might just stay
- 23:15Speaker 1: inside and the other Friday share is I'm just so
- 23:19Speaker 1: disappointed I that Meghan Markle's jam, you cannot get it
- 23:22Speaker 1: in Australia. So she finally released her as ever products.
- 23:26Speaker 1: So a jar of Meghan's jam is setting people back
- 23:29Speaker 1: 15 US dollars. I was prepared to pay that, but
- 23:32Speaker 1: they're only delivering to the US. Well, I quickly jumped
- 23:35Speaker 1: on and the honey had already sold out, which I
- 23:37Speaker 1: expected because if it's honey from their house, is that,
- 23:40Speaker 1: I don't know, is that what they're claiming? Then yeah,
- 23:42Speaker 1: of course, people are going to want to try that.
- 23:43Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, the gem. And then I
- 23:45Speaker 1: put it in my cart just to see what the
- 23:47Speaker 1: postage would be. And then I realized, yeah, it doesn't
- 23:50Speaker 1: come here. It's only US. What do you think about
- 23:51Speaker 1: the flower sprinkles? Because she's selling them as well. They
- 23:54Speaker 1: heavily featured throughout the show. 15 US dollars. I'm not
- 23:58Speaker 1: surprised by the cost of any of these things. I
- 24:00Speaker 1: don't think it's that bad, to be honest. There has
- 24:02Speaker 1: been some debate online about whether this actually was as
- 24:05Speaker 1: big of a success as Megan has been portraying online,
- 24:08Speaker 1: because as ever, the products all sold out. But people
- 24:11Speaker 1: have been saying, well, did she do the typical influencer
- 24:14Speaker 1: marketing thing and only release a small amount of products
- 24:18Speaker 1: to say that she sold out or was it actually
- 24:20Speaker 1: a success? Well, I was half expecting her to do
- 24:22Speaker 1: the thing that Molly May did in her doco and
- 24:24Speaker 1: film how many visitors were on the website and have
- 24:27Speaker 1: a little freak out about it. Like I think if
- 24:29Speaker 1: she had done that and we had seen the numbers,
- 24:32Speaker 1: I'd be like, okay, yeah, this was a huge success.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Do you think that's a bit tacky though? But she's
- 24:37Speaker 1: been doing all of those things. Like she's been tagging
- 24:39Speaker 1: where all her clothes are from. She is an influencer
- 24:43Speaker 1: now and that's normally what influencers do. Maybe we might
- 24:46Speaker 1: see it popping up as content on her Instagram soon.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I think she needs to do that in order to
- 24:50Speaker 1: strengthen the brand and be like, yeah, I've got a
- 24:53Speaker 1: lot of power here. But the question mark is there
- 24:55Speaker 1: considering these products are jam and honey. Well, it had
- 24:58Speaker 1: to be a success, didn't it? Because if these products
- 25:00Speaker 1: had just sat on her website, the media would have
- 25:03Speaker 1: had a huge field day. Yeah. Well, Megan seems to
- 25:05Speaker 1: be in the habit of resharing people's stories that they
- 25:08Speaker 1: tag her in. So it'd be quite telling when the
- 25:10Speaker 1: product rolls out to see how many people tag her. Well,
- 25:13Speaker 1: we're going to see this all over TikTok. I think
- 25:14Speaker 1: so many people would have bought it just to do
- 25:16Speaker 1: a taste test. Yeah. Well, that's where we're going to
- 25:19Speaker 1: leave things today. Thank you for listening to another episode
- 25:21Speaker 1: of Outspoken. If you do enjoy the show, we would
- 25:23Speaker 1: love it if you could leave us a review. This
- 25:26Speaker 1: podcast was recorded on the traditional land of the Kaurna
